I have actually been trying to follow Phase 1 for 3 days now with great reults! PinkBlossom 08-18-2006, 09:23 AM I'm following the fat smash diet. Today is day 5 for me on phase 1 also with great results. pmteub 08-18-2006, 12:37 PM Officially will start Phase 1 Monday - however I did eleminate colas, coffee starting today - so Hopefuly when I give up meat on Monday withdrawls from soda will be done with. Pam SonJohn 08-18-2006, 02:48 PM I haven't received my book yet (waiting on shipment from Amozon and it should be here on Monday) It's Day 5 for me now (Friday)and I'm only going on the information I can gather from all the posted messages. I have only been eating fruits and veggies for the last five days- lightly sauteed portabella mushrooms and zuccinni my personal favorite. As you can probably see by the word sautee I used a little EVOO in the process. Reading all of your posts I'm going to now assume that that was a no no. But being down 7 lbs. still seems encouraging to me, especaially since I have no cravings. I'm enoraged to find out that I can also have oatmeal and brown rice on this phase. I'm just wondering is anyone can tell me if I will have to start all over again with phase 1? :o Also is there something about losing muscle during this phase - I am still in a surgical boot from a recent foot surgery but will be hitting the weights tonight. :carrot: What ever it takes I'm determined to reach my goal weight. SonJohn 08-18-2006, 02:48 PM Fat Smasher Here! dav310 08-19-2006, 09:59 AM I am waiting for the book. Amazon mailed it out yesterday. Suzanne have you tried this diet? Suzanne 3FC 08-19-2006, 10:10 AM I can't find my copy, so I guess I'll go buy another. I'm starting it Monday :) Sister Amy is also going to start Monday, and Jennifer said she will start soon after. She's on vacation right now. We like to try diets together because we can support each other better that way. I'm also hoping there will be other members doing it too, so we can all share recipes and tips :) I'm not sure if it's something I'll stick with long term, but I just need a little kick in the pants right now and the Fat Smash diet looks like a good way to do it. I'm going to start a weekly support thread for it on Monday, hope you'll all join us :) BOUNCY 08-19-2006, 12:53 PM I am buying the book tonight. One challenge that I see is phase 1 - detox. I love all types of fruits, but am not a big veggie eater. Wish me luck and good luck to all of you! BOUNCY 08-19-2006, 06:04 PM Hi, Can you tell me how many fruits can we eat aday? water ? Just anything? Hew!! Iam going by the sample menue But you mentioned fruit . Can we have diet drinks? Just any info you can give us , i would realy appreciate. Thank you and good luck . Please let us know how you are doing. You can doi it!! go girl! Suzanne 3FC 08-19-2006, 06:43 PM Linda, you can have unlimited amounts of fruit and vegetables, except for white potatoes and avocados. By 'unlimited' he means eat until you are satisified, but don't eat just because you can  So you should do fine. As with everything else, you should drink plenty of water. There isn't a quota to fill, just drink what you can because your body needs it and it will help keep you full. Diet drinks should be avoided, particularly in the first phase since we are focusing on whole foods and not artificial foods. We wrote a mini-review of the Fat Smash diet here (http://www.3fatchicks.com/Diets/Diet_Book_Reviews/The_Fat_Smash_Diet/) if it helps. We noted in the review that we found a few things confusing. While we all do the Fat Smash together, I'll make a list of questions and we'll see if we can get an official answer on anything we find confusing. Ethiah, best of luck to you :) And don't worry, we'll do our best to help you learn to love veggies :T BOUNCY 08-19-2006, 07:08 PM Thanks Suzanne for the info. The review was very informative . Iam looking forward to Monday. Have a great evening. BOUNCY 08-19-2006, 07:45 PM Suzanne since that menu i posted from the site, the lunch and dinner serves 4. I sound like to much egg whites or egg beater to me aswell. I bet it was supposed to serve 4 alos. What do you think? Suzanne 3FC 08-20-2006, 12:41 AM You are allowed up to 4 egg whites per day, so I would think the recipe serves 1. The portions would be awfully small if it served 4. Eat it all, it would be a great way to start the day :D dav310 08-20-2006, 08:08 AM Got the book late yesterday afternoon. In reading through it I found something confusing. In Phase I cheese is not allowed. But in the recipes for Phase I the Tasty Tomatoes calls for parmeasan cheese. Anyone know for sure. I sent an e-mail to his website but got it back as undeliverable. Will do some food shopping tomorrow and get what I need for the detox phase. I'll try an work up a menu for myself for the next few days and see how it goes. Suzanne 3FC 08-20-2006, 11:58 AM I still can't find my book, so I can't check the recipe, but I'm guessing it uses just a small amount of parmesan cheese? Maybe he allows small amounts of foods as flavor enhancers, as long as you don't consume full servings of them. A little tiny bit of good quality, freshly grated parmesan can add a big punch of flavor for very few calories. I don't think there would be a problem with this, as long as we're careful, but it depends on the individual. The important thing is to reduce our calories and eat more nutritious whole foods. Sometimes that's easier to do when we include a variety of flavors to make it taste good :T I personally plan to use the diet details as guidelines and will tweak if I need to. For example, I'd go nuts if I ate that much brown rice every day :spin: So I plan to mix it up a little. I have some exotic rices such as black 'forbidden' rice, Bhutanese red rice, and whole grains such as quinoa, millet, etc. One thing I'm confused about is the amount of rice (etc) to eat. Phase 1 says to eat 2 cups brown rice daily. Do we eat the full 2 cups, or is that a maximum amount allowed, as in eat UP TO 2 cups? Phase 2 actually specifies eat up to 2 cups. Why the difference? dav310 08-20-2006, 01:17 PM One thing I'm confused about is the amount of rice (etc) to eat. Phase 1 says to eat 2 cups brown rice daily. Suzanne there are some things that are confusing but like you I am going to adjust. Just looked at the The Phase I plan and it calls for 2 cups of cooked brown rice each day. I am also thinking if I have less than 2 cups of brown rice for dinner with veggies I could probably have the rest later in the evening if I am hungry. No matter when I do a diet, any diet, my hungry time is between after dinner and bed time. Doesn't matter if I have eaten enough at each meal so that I am satisfied I can still eat. Funny this doesn't happen between breakfast and lunch or lunch and dinner. :?: cyndrapo 08-20-2006, 02:26 PM Hi guys! I purchased my Fat Smash Diet book from Walmart.com (it was the cheapest I found, $8.02 including shipping) a couple of days ago but I won't receive it until later this week. However, I would like to start the diet on Monday with everyone else. Good luck to everyone. http://www.3fatchicks.net/img/bar072/slider-scale/lb/217/150/217/.png (http://www.3fatchicks.com/weight-tracker/) buttercupkitty 08-20-2006, 07:21 PM  I am back...after an extended vacation. I had lost about 8 pounds doing Phase 1. I know that it is back after enjoying myself. Which only reminds me that a diet is only as good as your mental strength. I ate and ate while on vacation, cause "I was on vacation" and now I am back to being fat and frustrated. I will start back on Monday...I really liked the plan I did and I think if I lost the 40 pounds that I need to I would not be so hog wild on vacation. Most eating is emotional and I just felt fat and said what the hell...I am on vacation, I will jsut diet when I get home. Nothing coming up that will challenge my willpower so I plan to complete the 90 days of this program and be 40 pounds lighter!!! atn1966 08-20-2006, 09:31 PM :carrot:Hi i'm new to the site and will be starting the diet tomorrow. i was so happy when i found this forum, i can really use the support. i have the book and read it twice. i have already made my meals for the next few days. i hope i can hang with the rest of u guys. i currently go to the gym 3-4 times per week i guess for this phase i will only do cardio. good luck to everyone starting tomorrow.:cb: . http://www.3fatchicks.net/img/heartbar/slider-lifter2/lb/175/135/175/.png (http://www.3fatchicks.com/weight-tracker/) SonJohn 08-20-2006, 11:43 PM It's the end of day 7 and I'm 9 lbs lighter. Having a few problems with body cramping (feet and hands mostly) any suggestions:carrot: ? Suzanne 3FC 08-21-2006, 08:43 AM That's strange - are you getting enough potassium? Good sources are bananas and spinach. If it continues, you might want to ask your doctor about it. sllamey 08-21-2006, 04:36 PM Hi there. I'm BRAND new. I didn't know that I could eat brown rice! I have been strictly fruit and veggy. I did use some splenda with my tea and oatmeal. I hope that is ok. I'm glad that I'll have some other smashers to talk to. This is not as easy as I thought. :ebike: Suzanne 3FC 08-24-2006, 09:14 PM Hi bayougrl, welcome to 3FC!
