Has anyone gone to the Metabolic Research Center for their diet plan? They have an advertisement in the paper about losing 60 pounds before Halloween and it sure is tempting! I looked it up on the web and they do have a diet plan plus you drink some liquid, but that's all I know about it. If you have in input, sure would appreciate it.:?:

I am going to MRC. I have most 15 pounds in 38 days. I really enjoy going to the one near me in Oregon. I think what helps is the support that they give. It is just incredible. Also what I find very helpful is the life classes. It changes every week. Some of the topics that have been covered are grief, and control issues. They staff at my center are not pushy when it comes to product sales. I mentioned how I was concerned with how much it cost and they worked with me. They said there are certain things you need to take to help give your body the nutrients it needs and I could buy them anywhere. Those were a good multivitamin, flax seed pills for omega fats. Of course they recommended other supplements, but really did not seem to mind that I did not want or believe in the pills.
You are given at 3 plans. Now before I tell you about them let first start with. The reason I am losing weight is because I am eating less! There is nothing magical about it. What is magical is the incredible support they give.
Alright As I was saying you start off with pre-conditioning. Which is before you start with "Program" This is so when you start your program you won't go into with draws. For me this meant cutting out caffeine. You cut out caffeine, processed sugar, and start drinking your 64 ounces of water. Then after you do that for a minimum of 5 days you go to food instruction. This is where they tell you about how, what, and why you will be eating the way they tell you. They will also try to sell you supplements at this time. Once again no pressure. The only thing you are required to take is drink supplement with breakfast, lunch, and somewhere else during the day.
I asked one of the workers and they are not given commission for selling the drink supplements because they are required. 1 box is $7 or 5 for $50.
Then you are given a meal plan for the first 3 days. Then another one for the next 5. Then one more that you will be staying on until you reach your healthy weight goal. 2-5 pounds a week. My average right now is 2.8 pounds a week.
I am very satisfied with MRC. When I have a weak moment I just call them up or go into the office and we talk about it. They have been times when I just show up because I make a detour to them instead of the grocery or bakery and they help me through the tough times. Not to mention the ladies that work there are funny! It helps to have a sense of humor and not beat you up to much if you mess up.
Hope that helped

Thanks so much for the information. I did sign up for the six weeks that the ad was talking about and she told me that if I continue, that $99 will go toward the rest of the course. They were so busy the day that I was there, they sort of ran me through the application, I had to wait to be weighed, then they told me about the supplements and to drink 64 oz of water a day and they would see me Friday (next) for my food orientation. They didn't measure me or anything. Frankly, I think they forgot about me and just sent me on my way, but I read what you wrote and I saw what she said about how much weight I would lose by April 25th, 2007 (100 pounds!!) and I'm sold. I'll do whatever they say. She did emphasize that I must drink the liquid drink I think 3Xdaily - with meals, I suppose, because that is most important.
Please keep me posted on how you're doing. I'm pretty sure I'm in it for the long haul. I think I've found a keeper diet!;) finally.

I have lost 25 pounds so far.:carrot: Granted I took a week and completely went off plan and slowed down my progress, but at least I knew what might happen and it was not a surprise.

As for how much the program costs, it depends on how much weight you have to lose. I paid I think $178. Maybe a bit more or less. The program itself I found to be very reasonable considering how much support they give me. If I don't show up for a week they call me. I know because when I went off for a week and did not show they called and it was at the right time when I needed it.

My cost was tabulated at what or how much weight I wanted to lose. I paid the $99.00 up front for a trial basis of six weeks, then when I go back, that $99.00 will go toward the rest of my cost. I believe she said something like $240 + for my 100 pounds. I have been very happy with it so far, not losing fast but averaging 2.5 lbs a week. Once you have paid the money, the only cost you will have will be for any supplements that you buy and you must buy the drink supplements but you get seven in a pack for eleven dollars and I go once a week, so I buy 2 boxes. They also have some soup and chocolate pudding and vanilla pudding. The creams are ok, but I'm sticking with the drinks. They are delicious and they do keep you from getting hungry. I'm very pleased.

I started at MRC on September 2nd and have lost 13 pounds so far. . . I can't say enough good things about this program. Yes, it's expensive, but a lot less expensive than paying doctors for the rest of your life, right? :-) I have about 150 pounds to lose and have been losing 5.6 pounds per week on average. I should be down about 120 by February 17th. This is the only weightloss program that's ever worked for me. It's great to see that it's working for others as well. Good luck!!!

:carrot: Congratulations, Amanda!
Your weight loss so far is fantastic. I just wish mine was going as fast.
Have you bought the 1 ounce daily liquid yet? One lady there said she just drank her capful every day and called it her wine. It is delicious and they had to sell me on it because I told them I did not like anything liquid that even resembled medicine or supplements. I tried it and was sold. I do believe it is giving me more energy. I want to try their foursome thing for weight loss but they say I have to get my doctor's approval for that. I have been having a little difficulty this week wanting something sweet, but I'll get over it. Have you had any problems yet? Just keep up your loosing and keep in touch.

Dear Lovely,
I'd love to keep in touch with you. We do have about the same problems. I'm also 5'4" with 100 pounds to lose as you read in my post. Also from TX.
When you join Friday, let me know and we'll laugh and cry together. Hopefully more laughing than crying. I really think you'll like it.;)

Yep, I take 2 capfuls of Liquid Minerals every day. I feel like I fill up on pills every day but it's working so I don't complain :) I even wore a dress on Saturday that I hadn't worn in two years. Everytime I go to the center and I lose more weight, it gives me more motivation to go home and keep it up. Have you bought the cookbook yet? I am a huge fan of the fried chicken coated in melba. It's amazing! I also love to coat tilapia (or another available white fish) in melba. I had never bought melba prior to this and it's become a staple in my kitchen now. To get over my "sweet" cravings, I use Fruit Punch Crystal Light. It actually tastes a lot like Kool-Aid and can be used in moderation as part of my water intake. I just wish I could get my family to join in.

This would be a great place to share recipes that we've found that are on program. Have you found any favorites?

Sounds great to me. One of my biggest struggles in the beginning was increasing the water intake. I didn't drink water at all before doing this, but now it's the only thing I drink besides the High Nutrient Supplements. I'm a big fan of the Wildberry Passion and Mixed Berry but didn't like the Peach mango at all.

Here's my food intake from yesterday, just to give you an example of what's working for me:

Breakfast - 1 meduim egg and 2 oz. sharp Cheddar cheese with 1 slice of Sara Lee 45 calorie whole wheat bread

Lunch - Baked chicken (Mrs. Dash) with asparagus and 1/2 grapefruit

Snack - 1oz. Sharp Cheddar Cheese

Dinner - Melba Fried Chicken with broccoli

What are your days looking like?

To start the program I think the base was $369. That covers 24 weeks of program, 6 weeks of stabilization and 1 year of maintenance. They guarantee that you will lose a certain amount of weight by your 24 week mark or they will allow you to remain on program until you lost that amount. For me, it's 72 pounds minimum by February 17th. (My family and I leave for a Panama Canal Cruise on February 21st, so that's perfect. . . now I just have to find a swimsuit in February in Kansas. . . not going to be easy) At my consultation, I also bought all of the herbs and vitamins that she recommended. I was willing to do whatever it took to get this weight off for good. That added another approximately $200 to the total I paid that day. It was under $600. . . I want to say $534. Then, I do 5 High Nutrient Supplements per day. There are 7 in each box and they cost $11 per box or 5 boxes for $50. On day 5, you get to have the creamy HNS. I love the Double Chocolate Pudding.

I was told that they can adapt the program to your budget. If you can't afford the drinks, they can do a program with just the pills. Either way, these people know what they're talking about and I couldn't ask for better support from virtual strangers. Definitely take advantage of the classes that they offer. They even give you a list of eating establishments that you can order from without worrying about going off program. I had dinner at a steakhouse with my mom on Sunday night and didn't go off program at all. It's nice to be able to live "normally" while on this program. :) Let me know if you have any questions after your consultation. I'd be happy to help!

I haven't bought the cookbook yet. I'm trying my best to keep my cost down since we're both retired. But the "fried" chicken with melba toast just might make me want to buy the cookbook. This week they were out of the Metabolic 2000 which I think are the vitamins and I need to buy some more Cortitrim. My favorite supplements are the Peach Mango and the Wildberry. I tried the supplement that is in packets in liquid form but they are so watered down once I add my water to it, I think I'll just save them for travel, if I ever travel again.
Here's an idea of my breakfast:
1 slice of Sara Lee 45 calorie toast, with cheese on it and broiled and an egg and I usually boil it.
For lunch, I usually have a tossed salad with spritzer salad dressing and 6 ounces of tuna or chicken.
For dinner, I bought some chicken at Sam's already cooked, asparagus, or broccoli or some greenery and usually instead of bread, I have the beans.
That's about it, but I don't like the mequite broiled chicken I've been eating from Sam's. It sort of has a rubbery taste, but I didn't get to where I am without eating, so I eat it! LOL.
Sure would like a good bowl of soup. I did get the tomato supplement and I've fixed it for lunch with my salad. By adding pepper to it, it was all right.
My report from my doctor today was absolutely fantastic. All of my blood work is where it should be, lost weight and doing fine. I plan on seeing this program through until I lose it all. I love it!

I love it too! The fried chicken is basically a chicken breast dipped in a combination of the chicken stock supplement and melba crumbs then fried in your olive oil for the day. It's great. I'm actually excited to go to the doctor the next time I have to go because I know my blood work will be so much better.

Kinda wierd- but I'm also in Lawrence Kansas. My husband and I started the MRC diet about 5 weeks ago. I'm down 20 pounds- he's down 29. I currently weight 287. I am really out of shape but I'm looking for an exercise partner? Interested? I'm 30- married- no kids, 2 cats.

MRC is doing well for us.... I want the weight to come off faster- and I want to be sure that I get fit as well as loose weight. I started walks but it would be nice to have someone to join me. I also belong to Therapy Works...

Oh- and I love the Mrs Dash!

Last question-

What herbs do you take? We're taking Cortitrim, MRC6, I'm taking the Metabolic Enhanser and Total Woman Oil as well as Liquid Minerals. My husband takes flax and is on the all day weight loss.

Thanks!

Hey Girls,
Yesterday my doctor advised me to either swim for exercise or do a stationery bike. Went to Academy Sporting Goods and bought a bike that I can ride. It's a sitting down type and not one of the expensive ones. She said I should ride it five minutes in the morning and five in the evening until I can build up my strength. I've managed five minutes for two days now. I wonder if this will help me with the weight loss. I'm doing it for my knees but hopefully, this will help. Amanda, I'm getting the chicken supplement next time and trying the fried chicken. Then the next visit, I'll get the cookbook since they're both the same price. LOL. Which came first, the chicken or the egg is what I sound like, doesn't it? Anyway, I'm cooking that chicken first. Sounds delicious.

Using the supplements for cooking is something that I need to be better about. It would make it easier to find things to cook. Jamie and I are going to start getting together and cooking to find new recipes that will work with program. Even if you don't use the supplement, just get some onion or garlic flavored melba rounds and crush them very fine and skip the supplement. I've done it both ways and don't really prefer one over the other. They're both awesome and VERY easy. Tonight, I had chicken breast marinated in lite Wishbone Italian dressing that I grilled and it was great. The dressing made it very moist. It was a suggestion of one of our consultants. I'll have to pick her brain for some more ideas.

I made the ranch dressing from the cookbook tonight.

1 package of Hidden Valley Ranch Powder
12oz. low-fat cottage cheese
Blender or food processor

It's great!!! I'm going to use it tomorrow for my lunch salad.

Lolow
09-29-2006, 12:34 PM
Thanks for the dressing recipe and also how to cook without the supplement.
Are you attending the classes there also, behavior, etc.? I haven't been to one yet, but plan on going.
I'm basically taking the same supplements as you are Amanda. I ran out of hoodia, but guess I'd better get it again. I still had some from taking it previously (another brand) and finished them. I haven't tried your nighttime medicine. Having a little trouble, so perhaps I should.:o
Also I think I feel full lots of times because of all the pills in ingesting! I just want to do everything right this time because I really feel I'm into something that works for me. For once in my life, I want to be one of those women who say: I lost 100 pounds and I feel and look great!. Wouldn't that be wonderful?

Lolow
09-29-2006, 12:38 PM
Just thought of something else. I have also tried marinating chicken breast in Wishbone Italian dressing and it was really good. They told us about it in our first food class. You marinate it for a day or however long it takes, then if you put it on a George Foreman grill, it has the best crust on it from the marinade. I did end up cutting my chicken in two to make it thinner. This was done after it had cooked for a little while and was easier to slice.

Manda2831
09-29-2006, 12:59 PM
That would be wonderful. I feel full from the pills a lot of the time too. Maybe that's part of the "magic" :) This might be too much information but if you start taking the Trifala, beware. . . your urine is going to turn BRIGHT yellow. I always thought drinking more water was supposed to do the opposite, so I asked last week if there was something wrong with me. The yellow is the cleanser getting rid of all of the built up junk in your system. Yummy! :)

I have gone to some of the classes and plan on attending more of them in October when they get the calendar out. They keep me motivated and off the couch for the evening at least :)

Amanda, which or what is the Trifala? Is it one of our pills or a liquid ? Inoticed that my one ounce liquid is Trimedica. I goofed up a little this weekend and have to begin again today wholeheartedly. I could just kick myself and this is what I do on a diet. I sabatoge myself and this time, its just not going to get the best of me. I got there after one yesterday and they were closed, so bright and early at nine on Monday, I'll be at the center to pick up all my stuff that I'm out of. I'm going to get by the skin of my teeth until then, but I think by using a creamy each day, I'll have enough liquid to last through the day.

Manda2831
10-01-2006, 11:48 AM
The trifala is the internal cleanser. It's a medium brown pill. . . not a capsul, but a solid pill. The only liquid I do aside from the supplements is the Liquid Minerals. I've come close to running out before so I started buying a bunch ahead. I think I've probably got three weeks worth of supplements here now. Jamie suggested the Magic Bullet yesterday when we were walking and I bought one last night. I love this thing. It's so much better than my blender. We're having a family thing at my parents' house today so I'm bringing my lunch. I took a Mixed Berry Supplement and added frozen strawberries, water, orange extract and vanilla extract to it and I'm going to drink it as my fruit/supplement for lunch.

Lolow
10-01-2006, 06:38 PM
Yum, that sounds delicious! A magic bullet, huh? I've seen them advertised and now I may just have to check into that. So far though, I've been drinking my water out of a 10 oz bottle that my husband supplies my water in. Then I refill it up to a certain point and pour in my supplement and shake it like crazy. Then I put it in the fridge for my next meal. I usually drink it over a small amount of crushed ice. So far, the mixed berry is my favorite, although I do enjoy Peach Mango. I'm going to take your advice or copy you about buying up a supply because until I get there tomorrow, I'm really counting my supplements. I have just enough to get me through the morning and then on my way to MRC. Have you tried the Wishbone spritzers for your salad. I love them because I'm not a big dressing eater and luckily I like their Italian. Also love the ranch dressing recipe you supplied. Ranch is my all time favorite and this will last me for some time. I feel as if I'm making a grocery list for my visit to MRC. Going to try the Trifala also.

Congratulations! That just has to be a thrill so see a good weight loss.
So they remeasure you on your one month. I think my office area is getting a tad behind on things. You're getting more information than I am. Today I was there at straight up nine. The two girls were a little upset because some skinny man was outside the door claiming he had an appointment to lose weight and they were motioning for me to go around back. I didn't understand what they meant so they finally unlocked the door for me to get in. They left the man outside and I suggested they tell him we were having a meeting and to come back at another time. He left but they were buzzing about calling the police. Anyway, they sold me my supplements and said I could weigh later on in the week. They were truly upset, so I bought my stuff and left. Felt a little disappointed but couldn't do anything about it. The two girls that came in as I was leaving knew the guy and said he was a little not right but wouldn't hurt anyone. They knew him from the hospital. So all's well that ends well.
Did your three pounds come off in that one week? Oh, I wish mine would come off faster. I tell myself everyday not to get discouraged and to follow the rules. I'm glad you two girls are walking. I'm for sure that's helping also. I hope my bicycle riding will give me a little boost. It does make my legs feel better.
I bought the Internal Cleanser compound. Is that the Trifala? I couldn't find anything on it that said that, but that's what I ended up with.
Also bought a big bag of frozen chicken breast at Sam's today but couldn't find any Melba toast. Guess I'll have to go to the local grocery store for that. I was just trying to save some steps. Also bought a try of Asian apples. Have you tried them? They're sweet and more crunchy than our apples.

Manda2831

I had been told a couple of times that people had been remeasured at one month so I mentioned that today was one month and she said she'd remeasure me.

What a strange way to start the day. Some people just aren't quite all there. :)

I would have been upset if I couldn't weigh this morning. I did absolutely everything right all weekend and I was excited to see how much progress I had made. The three pounds came off over 4 days. I weighed on Thursday last week and lost one pound then went back today and lost three more. I love this program because it gives some substantial weight loss. One pound per week is NOT enough to motivate me to keep going. This is perfect for me.

The Internal Cleanser compound is Trifala. I only know it by that name because that's what they call it at the center when we talk after each weigh-in. I love how supportive they've been. They give me high-fives and tell me awesome job about 10 times every time I go in. It's nice to have someone telling me I'm succeeding.

I haven't tried the apples before. I've got a golden delicious for lunch today and a bunch of cheese and cauliflower. I decided I was sick of chicken for lunch so I went the sharp cheddar route instead. I'll have to look for the apples the next time I go to the store.

Lolow

Amanda, I found these at Sam's. They come six to a carton there. If you have some large super markerts, you can probably find them. Also an Asian market. I'm telling you, they are delicious. My son doesn't even enjoy apples and my husband was eating one yesterday when our son came by and Was given a piece and he even said that was the best apple he had ever tasted. I think we're on to something here. It would probably be good with our cheddar.

I'll have to make a trip to Sam's the next time I'm in Topeka. It's only about 25 minutes away and a friend is having a Pampered Chef party there this weekend so maybe I'll make a side trip to Sam's. Hope you had a good night.

Was writing a message to you all, but went back to check on something and the message vanished. I was saying that when I bought supplements again this week, they were still out of the Metabolic 2000. I just can't understand that. This is the second week they have been out. I don't know if I should just get some regular vitamins to take or wait it out.
Chicken and broccoli for dinner tonight for me. I have to see my orthopedic surgeon tomorrow for my monthly visit and I sure hope my loss shows up on their scales. That's what they're waiting for is my weight to go down so that I can get my new knees. One at a time, that is. They don't have a fancy scale. Its the one that just sits on the floor like our bathroom scale but is about ten years old. You even have to set it to zero before you get on. I learned to watch that little problem real quick. LOL.

Wow, you'd think an orthopedic surgeon would have a better quality scale. They were out of the Metabolic 2000 on Monday at my center too. I would just get another multi-vitamin in a very small bottle and keep asking them each time you go so at least you're getting a multi-vitamin while you're waiting. I'm having breaded tilapia (melba) and broccoli again tonight. It's a staple at my house now, but I like it, so it's alright. I put out some chicken to thaw while I'm eating so I can do something with that for lunch tomorrow. Today was a fun day. Jamie and I went to water aerobics and it was awesome. I think it will be really good for me. Hope all goes well at the ortho tomorrow.

Ortho visit went ok. I go back in two months now. I did have a weight loss and they will continue watching me. One thing did bother me though. Since both knees are equally as bad and I know this is due to my weight, they may do both knees instead of waiting to have one knee later. Said I don't have a strong enough good knee to help in recuperating and rehab. That's a bummer for me, but they had done surgery on an 88 year old woman and she was up and walking around and she had both knees done. I'm twenty years younger, so here's hoping I could do as well, if I could just get this fat off. Have you all read "Dairy of a Fat Housewife". I'm reading it now and it sure hits some nerves.
I'm going for 80 ounces of water this weekend each day. Well, you know where I'll be going. LOL.

Something else just made me wonder. I wonder if they're getting ready to change the Metabolic 2000 and that's the reason they're out or if they might discontinue it. I will get a small bottle of vitamins tomorrow though.

Good evening ladies! Just wanted to stop by and post since I hadn’t been able to get here today. It’s been a really rough day for me for multiple reasons but I had a small breakdown after I got home from work. I think I’m alright now. It didn’t help the situation at all that it’s TOM and I didn’t lost any weight since Monday. I’m probably just overly emotional though. I know that I’m losing inches right now and I’ll probably have a significant weight loss on Tuesday when I go in. I usually lose more on the weekends for some reason. (I know, I’m weird.)

Other than that, our extended family is having a small family reunion tomorrow in a small town north of Topeka. It will be nice because my grandmother’s sister flew in from California last night and this will be the first time we’ve seen her in probably almost 10 years. I made Cheeseburger soup tonight and I’m taking that, an orange and a stick of sharp cheddar for lunch and snack while everyone else eats potluck food. A good friend is having a Pampered Chef Party on Sunday afternoon and I’ve been to 2 in the last month so I’ve only got one thing left that I need to buy. I’m getting a hand crank cheese grater because it’s so much easier than using the stand up ones. I always end up taking off a couple of fingernails when I use those.

I haven't read that book. I might have to check it out. I bought a new bottle of the Metabolic Vitamins today so I don't think they're out of them completely. Maybe your center is just being slow :) Hope you have a great weekend!

Hi, I'm so glad to hear they have the vitamins there. I go in this morning so will check it out again here. Slow, yes! they are. LOL. I'm sorry about your breakdown yesterday Amanda. Sometimes I look at them and say, well, I deserved a good cry or whatever. I'm also going through some trauma right now. My brother passed away Thursday night and we're in the process of getting the family here, etc., for the funeral Monday. He had Alzheimer's and had been diaganosed twelve years ago, so it seemed to last an eternity. We're all celebrating his life instead of mourning it because he is so much better off now. Alzheimer's is a cruel disease. I have a total fear of it.
Back to weight. Sorry, I got off on what was bothering me. I just weighed this morning on my scales and I'm down 3.9 pounds from last weigh in, but now I have to find some light clothes to wear today to see if it shows up at the center. haha. I'll take it anyway I can though. Today I'm going to the store and getting my melba toast. I want to eat some fish and that's how I'm going to fix it. Just like you do!
Hope you all have a wonderful weekend. I also have to get back on my stationery bike and make my weekend better. TaTa.

You are so lucky to have Jamie in your town. I haven't read in posts from her, so how is she doing? Her husband was on it also, wasn't he? Also we had another lady on here (Lovely lady or something like that). She was going on vacation and perhaps she's not back yet. We all have to stick together and do some brain swapping on this weight situation and problems.

Manda2831

Lolow - I'm so sorry to hear about your brother. I haven't had any close family members who have had Alzheimer's but a couple of my friends are going through it with some of their family members. It's good that you're having a celebration of life for him. I'm sure he's so much happier now and he's up there waiting on you all to get there to get back the last 12 years.

I really think that the centers should offer a sign-up sheet for people who are interested in "weight-loss buddies" or "exercise buddies". That would be so helpful for people who weren't lucky to stumble upon someone very randomly like I was. It would be a good support system and if they're worried about being anonomus, they can make it an optional sign up and people just have to have the understanding that if they put their name on the list, they may get a phone call from someone else looking for help.

Today, I'm taking cheeseburger soup to the family reunion. I made it last night and it makes 4 servings and I froze 3 of them for later. It's actually really good. Here's the recipe incase you don't have it at your center:

Cheeseburger Soup

16oz. ground lean turkey breast
6 oz. green onions - chopped
10oz. celery - chopped
1 1/3 tsp. dried basil
1 1/3 tsp. dried parsley
4 cups hot water
4 envelopes MRC Cream of Chicken and Veggies Supplement
6 oz. Cheddar Cheese - cubed

In a stock pot, combine water with the Cream of Chicken Supplement. Bring to a boil and add veggies. Let simmer until celery is cooked. While that is cooking, brown the turkey and add to stock pot. Stir in basil and parsley (I didn't add either of these because I didn't have them). Bring to a boil, simmer about 5 minutes. Stir in cheese. Heat through until melted but don't bring it to a boil.

Servings: 4
Meal: Lunch
Beginning: Day 11
Replaces: 6oz. Protein, 1 creamy supplement, 2oz. cooked veggies

It's awesome. Let me know what other kinds of food you like and I'll check my cookbook and the recipes that they print for us from other customers if you're interested.

It's very nice having Jamie around. I don't know that I would be motivated to go out and exercise if she wasn't here to go with me. Her husband is also doing it. That has to make it easier that they're both on program and they don't have to cook two different meals every night. :)

Hope the weekend calms down a bit and things go well with the celebration. I'll be thinking about you.

Hi Shana! The website for MRC is (w w w.emetabolic.c o m). It doesn't look like there's a center within a reasonable distance of you but I may have missed a center when I looked. Let me know if you have any questions and I'll try to help. :)

I don't know much about LA Weight Loss, so I couldn't say.

ShanaC, try Bryan/College Station and or Tyler, Tx, I believe. If you go to the website you will see different locations in central Texas and you can mail order if you don't live close enough. I think you do have to go and sign up at one of their places though. Might want to check it out. I think it would be hard to follow long distance though.

Girls, I'm back! This has been a terrible week, but have managed to keep my weight in control (on my scales, at least). I managed not to eat during the celebration of life and on burial day, so I think I'll be ok. I've run through many emotions this week, sort of like a roller coaster, but ready to begin a new day. Now it's on to my indoor bicycle and I'm going to watch "Grey's Anatomy" while I pedal tonight. LOL.

Amanda, I made the ranch dressing you talked about and I LOVE it! It's so easy and so good. Thank you for sharing. Also picked up my melba toast at the grocers yesterday, so am planning on having fish Sunday fixed your way. I have some tilapia that is frozen, so I think it will be good in the skillet.
Gotta go for now and ride my bike. Haven't been on it today. Had to go out of town, so guess I'll try for two five minute rides.
Hope all is going well with everyone. Have a wonderful weekend.

Isn't it great? :) I switched to the Meta Quik plan for 3 or 4 days to jump start the loss again. I have been on a plateau for about a week and a half and I'm hoping that this kicks me back into gear. I've been doing everything right, but it just kind of stopped coming off. Hope you like the fish!

Lolow
10-15-2006, 07:22 PM
What is the Meta Quik plan? I think I'm in the dark about a lot of things around here. At least you're keeping me up to date!
The fish was delicious. Chicken tomorrow!

Manda2831
10-15-2006, 07:45 PM
The Meta Quik plan is where you still have 5 drinks a day but for breakfast and lunch you have a meal replacement bar or meal replacement shake. You only have one bar per day so it's either/or. Then for dinner, you have a normal meal based on your usual menu. It's supposed to be for 3 or 4 days to jump start you after a plateau, so hopefully this works. I actually haven't been hungry this way in the last two days either. Keeping my fingers crossed. I just found out about the Quik plan on Friday since I was getting frustrated.

Lolow
10-16-2006, 01:25 PM
Oh, I hope this works for you. I asked about it today and she said if I have a bad week this coming week, she'll tell me about it. Now I already know but won't tell them! Weighed in this morning and I had gained 1/2 pound but was pleasantly surprised because it has really been a hard two weeks for me because of the funeral and burial. I tried not to eat all the food, but I'm an emotional eater and truly I was worried that I may have stuck something really bad in my mouth (like sweets!). My scale at home is 1.6 pounds lighter than theirs. I double checked it today, so now I at least know where I stand before going there. I told them I'm back to going twice a week again. I think I am more in control that way and if I ever want my bad knees fixed, this weight must come off for good.
Enough of my blabbing. I'm pulling for you this week. I'm going to go ride my bike. I think that really helped me last week.
More later.

I gained 1/2 a pound on Friday but I'm really hoping this Quik plan does good things for me. I'm not hungry like I thought I would be. It's actually a lot less work with planning what I'm going to eat :) Good luck this week!

Good Morning, Girls!

Amanda, how is the Meta Quik doing for you this week. I'm anxious to find out if it melts those pounds away. We all need that, don't we?
I'm going full force today. Was a little late in eating my breakfast which consisted of one egg, cheese toast on 35 calorie bread (cheese was piled high) and my Mixed Berry supplement. I love that drink. I also like the Peach Mango but it doesn't mix as well as the Mixed Berry. Tina, at MRC, told me to mix it in a little bit of hot water first, then add the cold water and that would keep it from clumping. Sort of like chocolate, I guess. Oh, I cooked up some chicken for my salads the other day by boiling the whole chicken breasts in chicken broth (low sodium). Even my family commented on how good the chicken taste. I was surprised myself. LOL. I made chicken and dumplings for them and my salad for myself with all those greens. Tonight it's fish (Amanda's way) and broccoli. i have a bag of frozen tilapia in the freezer and it's all mine (according to my guys!). LOL.
Hope you all have a wonderful day. I must go and pay some bills and clean house and get my flu shot, go to the cleaners and grocery store. Just a tad busy and my morning is half shot.
Talk to you all later.

I guess I'm down in the dumps today. Feeling like I'm at a standstill because I don't see a change in my weight and I'm finding it harder to remember to take my pills and drink my supplements. I sure don't want to quit now, so I just need to kick myself in the butt, and begin all over again. Just thought I'd share what's bothering me and that was it.

Well, I got that off my chest last night and I'm going full force today on the MRC. I know its late for breakfast (11 a.m.) but I just had my 2 eggs, 1 oz. cheese and 1 piece of 35 calorie toast for breakfast, plus my supplement. I'm really going to hit the water today also. Hope everyone is having a good time and will check in occasionally. Also getting ready to ride my bike for my five minutes (that's about all I can tolerate at a time with my knees, but I'm going to start adding another minute to it on Monday.) That's my goal for next week, plus sticking completely to the MRC diet.

Good Morning, Everyone. It's TGIF and I must get to the MRC today! I need to have a good talking to and get this body back on track. I'm afraid to weigh, but I must.
Amanda, how is the Meta Quik going? Haven't heard from you in a while. Hope you all are doing good. Are you still doing the walking and swimming?
I'm back on my bike again, but legs were a tad sore yesterday, not today though.
Have a great weekend, all of you.

I actually got to stop Meta Quik 4 days after I started and I lost 4 pounds. It boosted me back into "fat-burn mode" and I've been doing well since. I swear by the Liquid Minerals. Everytime I am out of those, I plateau. I'm down a total of 25 pounds now. That's 3.64 pounds per week and more than half a pound per day. :D Things are going really well. I've been trying to do stairs at work more often. I haven't been able to get to the pool for a couple of weeks between regular meetings and working late. I'm hoping to get back on Wednesday though. It's gotten pretty cold and wet here too so walking outside has been out for a few days. Hopefully the temp will level out again so I can get some more in during decent weather. Hope you have a great weekend too!

AMANDA, that is absolutely wonderful, I say as I type with fat little fingers that are full of fluid. If I wasn't so thrilled, I'd be jealous. I asked them about the Meta Quik last week when I had gained half a pound and she said to wait until this week and we'd see if I needed it. I'm pretty sure I do. Saturday was my check-in day and I got there right at one and they were closed. I knew better. Perhaps it was my conscious telling me to wait until Monday but I must get help fast before I chicken out. My liquid mineral is almost out also, will get it again and More supplements. I'm upping my bike (stationery) to twice a day again. Doing everything I know to get back on the loss wagon. Again, congratulations. I'll be so glad when I can say I've lost 25 pounds. Wonder what it will be like to say, I only have 99 pounds to go????
I'd probably celebrate and go back up again. LOL.
Till tomorrow.

Thanks so much. It's exciting to get to this point because nothing has ever worked before. Meta Quik helped me a lot and so did Liquid Minerals. I've determined that without the Liquid Minerals, I don't lose much, if anything. I just pre-paid for some more so I'll get a back-up bottle when the next shipment comes in. :) I really don't want to run out again. Hopefully this week will continue to go well. Good luck with the weigh-in tomorrow!

Halleluja! I made it back today and I have only gained 1/2 pound Again!! But I feel so much better going back and not being a quitter. She has me on six flax seed capsules daily, cutting back on salt and using only sea salt bought from a health food store and drinking/eating five supplements daily. We went over my food plan and I believe I'm motivated again to continue losing weight.
I have always felt so guilty before when I've fallen off the wagon on a diet plan that I quit and this time I'm just not going to do it. Also got on my bike as soon as I returned. Now I only have my 2# pound weights to use on my arms for a small routine and I'll be through for the evening. Just wanted to let you know that I'm on the plan again. Oh, I also bought my new bottle of liquid minerals. Have they mentioned carb block for the holidays for you? They tried to sell me some today but I said I'd think about it.

Manda2831
11-07-2006, 11:24 PM
I have the fat and carb blocker to use before I eat out. That's the only time I use it. They're doing a cooking class before Thanksgiving and the cookbook has stuffing and they're bringing a green bean casserole recipie for the class, so I should be alright. I'm down 31 pounds as of today. It feels amazing! Hope you're back on track and doing well!

Lolow
11-14-2006, 12:25 AM
Ok, I've had a good week, but I do think I'll get the carb blocker for Thanksgiving. They highly recommend it and I will need all the help I can get.
I'm having a little trouble with cravings right now, but I'm drinking or eating a supplement when one hits me.
Hope all is doing well and you're still on your downward swing. My goal is to hit my first twenty pounds, then twenty, then twenty, and etc. if I could ever reach it and I will, you'll probably hear me all the way up to Kansas! LOL.

Manda2831
11-14-2006, 09:51 AM
Sounds like a good plan with the carb blocker and supplements. I'll be thinking about you as you reach for that first twenty. I'm hoping that I'll lose today but I'm not sure if I will or not. I'll update if there's anything significant.

When I see your weight drop, it encourages me to stick with it because I just never thought I could shed these pounds and now so much is depending on it, like brand new knees! Forgot to tell you - I have found a breakfast that I like. I devil two eggs using horseradish and a little mustard, salt & pepper and sometimes I cube a little pickle. Then I toast my 35 calorie slice of bread and drink my supplement and its filling for me for breakfast. Now this is after I have my cup of coffee, of course. Oh, I found cheddar cheese sticks this week where you buy the cheese sticks. They're delicious and each is almost an ounce.

Manda2831
11-15-2006, 03:22 PM
I've been eating the Sargento Sharp Cheddar Cheese sticks. They're 0.75 oz each, so I'm close enough. I lost another 3 pounds last night, bringing my total to 33. I've been broiling a slice of bread with shredded sharp cheddar on top for breakfast. Takes 5 minutes and it tastes good. I hit the groccery store salad bar today for lunch and I never in a million years would have thought that I would ever eat a salad dry, but I did today and it wasn't half bad. My center is having a Thanksgiving cooking class tomorrow night with recipes for "Thanksgiving" things that we can eat. I'm excited. One of the ladies said there would be green bean casserole. Good luck this week. Glad you found a breakfast you enjoy.

Hate to burst anyone's bubble but I did this plan, lost 90 pounds over a 6 month time period, was convinced I was in it for the long haul and derailed-BADLY! This plan is good if you don't have much to lose -I need to lose about 180 pounds. It's very expensive and very boring after awhile. It's low cal, low fat, low carb, and supplemental protein drinks. I'm convinced after trying this and just about everything under the sun it's all calorie intake, exercise, and lifestyle change. I wish you all good luck!

Hell-o future skinny person !
I have been on MRC since July 2006. I am now on the stabalization but been quite the slacker lately but have managed to only gain 4 lbs back.
Alot of this is your lifestyle, commitment & tastes. Yes, it did rather dull for awhile but all worth it.
About the only thing that really got me through the 22 lbs I lost, was a conconction I created but you have to LOVE cukes ! If you do, use cukes, tomatoes, radishes, celery, green onions for starter. I have found this to be a good basis for any leftover veggies, too, plus great with meat thrown in for lunches. OK, back to the recipe,,, the dressing is the dressing in the cook book for the vinegar spritzer, I think, but I have just thrown stuff together to suit my own taste. Basically - MCR chicken broth, apple cider vinegar, canola oil, italian seasoning, sea salt, crushed garlic & I love dill, so lots of that. Cut all your veggies in nice big bites (so it takes awhile for you to eat a forkfull) 1/2" or so, pour dressing over and marinate overnight. I ususally make a big batch and as state before, if I have left over veggies, I'll throw them in too add meat just for meal times. If it sounds interesting, I can give you my specifics.
I have tasted some of the recipes in the book and have been pretty good but you do have to be pretty creative with spices etc.
I have to agree with all the other comments on this site, the support is the best thing, at least for me, and the classes are very enlightening ! I have been busier than a one armed paperhanger since Nov thus the slacker but I KNOW I can get back on the wagon again.
This is my first time on the site so don't know who or how often to "chat". I am at work now and will probably only check now and then. My email address is susan.amberson@zurichna.com if you need me. I wil be heading to St Thomas, Sat. for a week w/the girls and yes, I am wearing the bikini.
You can do it ! ! !

I have managed to get over the bad recipies and make some new ones. I am a Tastefully Simple consultant and so therefore I have tons of gourmet food sitting around that I could not use for my diet plan. I asked about a few spices we have and we can use them, so my cooking options have improved greatly. We can use Garlic Garlic, Onion Onion, Spinach and Herb and Howlin Horseradish and a few more but that is all I can think of for now. If you are interested in products here is the website... http://www.tastefullysimple.com/mduncan1 Any of the products can be used as a spice, even though they are listed as a dip mix.. just sprinkle and there ya go.

Suz and Manda, I am in Lenexa, Ks.. just wondering what centers you go to? I go to the one on College and Metcalf in Overland Park. My contract is up and I'm trying to decide if I want to continue going or just try to do it on my own. I just started working out with a trainer/nutritionist at my gym and I think maybe I'll just try that for a while, still keeping the MRC foodplan in mind for my eating. Do either of you know if you can buy the HNS if you're not currently under a contract with MRC? I lost 30lbs between May and Oct. which was good, but not as good as I had hoped. Then I had 12 weeks of chaos (traveling for a month, holidays, daughter's wedding,etc...) and gained about 8 back! So now I'm about back to where I was before my hiatus. I know the bottom line is calories in vs. calories exerted! What are you thoughts now that you've been doing the program for awhile? I don't know if I can eat this way forever, but I think I will have to if I ever want to maintain a lower weight... Good luck, sounds like you are both doing awesome on program!:) My email is ddnewt@aol.com

ddnewt - I go to the center in Lawrence. My first contract expired today, but over Christmas, I extended it because I knew that I wouldn't be at my goal by today. I'm well on my way, but not quite there yet. I know I couldn't do this without the support that the consultants give me. It's nice to hear, "gosh, you're looking so great!" every time I walk in the door. :) I'm not sure about buying the HNS without a contract. I'm pretty sure that they said that they have old clients who still come in a buy the herbs and vitamins, so it might be worth it to ask next time you're in. Good luck and let us know what you decide and how you're doing.

I thought they guarenteed that you would loose a certian amount in a number of weeks (mine is 17) or your weeks are extended.. is that not true?

Manda2831

They do guarantee that you will be at a certain weight by a cut off date. I was 17 weeks too, but my guarantee weight wasn't my goal weight. I hit the guarantee weight, but I started at over 300 pounds and there was no way I was going to lost 150 pounds in 17 weeks without looking like a deflated balloon :)

I am so glad that I found this forum!! On Friday, I just had my consultation and joined MRC. I was a little scared because it was pricey and I had not heard much about it. This is about my 100th time trying to lose about 30lbs. I go in Friday for my meal plan. Does anyone know if they are going to measure me and take "before" photos on the first real day?? Also, any suggestions for a newbie?? :carrot:

Hello, welcome to the club. I started in April 06 and in a couple of months I lost 23 lbs. I was off and on for a couple more months and managed to only gain 3 lbs. then in September I completely went back to my old eating habits til yesterday that I went back and resigned up. I thought I was back to my original weight of when I started in APril and to my surprised I had only gained 5 lbs. It is true what they say that once you lose some weight your metabolism kicks in and even if you make wrong food choices your body can manage to break it down. I am trully convinced this program works, if you stick with it to the letter. I want to lose 50 lbs by the July for a huge convention I will have. I cannot wait to see the results. I am so motivated and eager to go back to my weigh in next week. I'll keep everyone posted. I weigh 220 lbs and my current size is 18. I want to be at 170 and wear a size 8 or 10. See ya all later.

i joined january 5th (actually the 29th of december but my 1 week of preconditioning does not count) and i have lost 21 pounds and i go to weigh in tomorrow so it shall be more then. i started at 210 and plan to be at 150 by the end of my journey. everything seems to be going great. some weeks i have only lost 1 or 2 pounds but my average has stayed pretty consistent. something you need to know is that weightloss (of any kind) is not a steady path. so just remember not to get discouraged and keep adding new spices and variety to your foods..

I just wanted to drop by and say hello. I just started my first official day today. I'm really excited, I feel confident in this diet and I cant wait to start seeing some results. I'm just going to take it a day at time! I plan on visiting this site alot because it seems like there is really great advice and support here. Right now, I'm taking the Enhancer, Liquid Minerals, Metabolic 2000, and the internal cleanser. What other supplements are your favorites and which do you reccomend?? Thanks! :D

I actually do not take any of what you are taking but this is what I take.. MRC-6, Vitamin, MSM, Corti-trim, Flax, COQ10, Chromium, Liquid Minerals and that seems to be working fairly well. I did not start the Corti-trim or the MSM until after my first month in and I am now on day 48. Hope everything work out for you. It does not seem like there is a ton of action on the board but I am excited that it is starting to pick up.

Did anyone see the scale change during the first week?

I am now eating more often and more food than I usually do, it doesn't seem to make sense to lose weight and eat so much!

I keep referring to all your ticker progress for inspiration- good work !!!!

Missysmom! WOW!! Over 20 lbs in 48 days...that is awesome, I hope my track will be just as successful. I plan on getting more supplements, I really want to try the MRC 6 and the Corti-trim. I'm just waiting for my bank account to recover :) I just paid almost $300 and I think I still owe a little more. Its okay though, I cannot put a price on being at healthy weight and having comfort in my own skin. That's my goal. Today is only day 3 for me, and I gotta tell ya, It's been rough. I'm not craving anything, just plain old hungry almost all the time. I'm stopping by the center tomorrow for my first weigh-in since I started on Sat. They say you lose 3-5 lbs a week, that seems impossible for me. I will be estatic if I lose anything!!!

Someone please tell me that days 5-10 are a little easier...I cant wait to get to the permanent meal plan.

Well I hope that everyone's weigh-ins are great this week. I'd really love to see everyone start posting more, this really helps me stay motivated. TTYL :):smug:

yeh i know all of it at first can get $$$$$ but my fiance and i are both doing it along with my grandmother and not only is it expensive.. the food changes and how you have to cook and eat gets expensive also. we were eating hamburger helper and stuff and now it is $10 or more to eat a dinner fixed at home. (we are in college by the way, so money is precious..lol) this week you should be fine with the hunger. we were allowed to eat as much of all the things at meals we wanted during preconditioning. and yes i hated my first week because i wanted to know if i was eating enough or too much, etc. but once you get the menu life should be a bit easier. keep going. :)

Has anyone cut the salt completely? I cannot seem to do it, that is probably why I do not lose as quick as all of you. And my will power is to blame also.

missysmom
02-27-2007, 09:34 AM
i have not completely. i mean if you go to a restaurant and ask for it plain.. it never comes that way.. so i get some in that way and also when i cook green beans a little salt goes a long way so that they are not bland. we also get a good amount of salt in salad dressings by walden farms and A1 and hot sauce.

Yes they will take your before photo and measurements! My suggestion is to follow the program!! It works!! I lost about 40 lbs on the program 3 years ago but I didn't do the maintenance...BIG mistake!! It is there for a reason :)
I kept the weight off for awhile but then resumed my former bad habits!! I just restarted the program and have lost 11 lbs so far with 29 more to go!!

Also...USE the center! Be sure to weigh in regularly and discuss your progress and any questions or concerns that you have. You will be motived when you see results! Good Luck!

Hey All! So I am super excited. Yesterday was day 7 for me and I got weighed, I lost 4 lbs in 7 days! That is completely unheard for me. It takes me like a month to lose 5 lbs and that is busting my butt at the gym!! FINALLY I have found something that I know is going to work for me. My god though, this diet is getting expensive! I think spending the money will help me stay committed. I cant believe that after only one week my pants are fitting better:carrot:
I have not completely cut out salt either, I just use it lightly here and there.

Oh, and I highly reccomend the Peach Mango (Liquid) HNS in the blender with about 7 ice cubes and a shot of the liquid minerals. It is so delicous, it's like a desert for me and I actually look forward to drinking it!
Does anyone else have a any fav ideas for the HNS drinks??

Hi all. I am happy to find this board. There isn't much info about this plan on the web. Anyway, I was on the program 2 yrs. ago and it was working well but for some reason I gave up on myself. I have wanted to get started again so I pulled all of my old materials out. I am planning to start pre-conditioning in the morning. I have a few questions for those of you currently on plan. Is there a vegetarian plan? Are you ever allowed a glass of wine? I am planning to do this on my own with my old materials for a while. My finances just won't allow for signing up at the center again. I have decided that I can do this and I am worth it so going it alone should work out ok. Again, it was great to find this group and read about your success and any help with my questions will be much appreciated. :)

Wow, I was away on a cruise for a couple of weeks and the board started becoming active. Welcome to all of the new posters! I have been on program since the beginning of September and have lost 66 pounds so far. If there is anything that I can help any of you with, please do not hesitate to ask. I am happy to help.

I have become a big fan of buffalo meat since I got sick of chicken and fish. It's lean and in the same category as chicken, so I'm safe to eat it at lunch or whenever I want to.

My favorite HNS's arre Orange concentrate, Strawberry Kiwi and Grape. I mix the fiber drinks with my breakfast and dinner HNS and add 16 oz of water. The fiber helps fill you up and burns more calories. I'm drinking 3 liters of water per day and I think that helps more than anything else. Hope you're all achieving your goals this week! Have a great weekend!

I went to my Food/Nutrition class last night after one week of pre-conditioning. I have lost a total of 7 lbs! I am just thrilled and so excited. I got my HNS drinks and I had my first one this morning, grapefruit...and it was awesome! It tasted just like pink grapefruit juice and was not chalky at all! I was very nervous about them because I have used those "protein" shakes before and they are chalky and disgusting. I am in love with this weight loss program! MRC Rocks!:carrot:

glad to have found this link. i have joined mrc twice now. the first time i dropped 46 lbs in 17 weeks. i now have been back and have lost 20 lbs in 20 days. they say i am losing to fast but told them its because i am so determined to drop the weight once and for all. i have read all the posts and see quite a difference in the amount of money spent. i spent over a 1000 dollars the first time around but well worth it. i only buy the drinks that are required now and the supplements i buy at walmart hoping this time won't be quite as expensive plus now doing a different plan since reaching under the 200 mark. hope everyone has great success. what type of exercise programs do you all do? i use the biggest loser dvds and the gym 3 x a week. i completly gave up soda cold turkey and drink only water, flavored water and green tea.

Welcome skinnyinside. What supplements are you taking that you get from Walmart? I went to the food class and got my diet plan last night. (Start 'offically' tomorrow so I can celebrate my Irish today.)
I found the array of herbs and pill form supplements confusing to say the least and not sure what to take and what can safely be taken with what etc. My costs initally were $300 to join up and my first group of protein drinks etc came to $100 last night. They had a 'starter' special grouping.
What kind of herbs etc. does everyone take?
I tried the 5HTP for the first time last night and will just use that for a few days to make sure I tolerate it okay. I guess I am cautious and don't want to take a handful on new things at once without knowing how each will affect me first.

well i wished mine had an exercise class.. we have "fun with food" where they teach you how to make meals and we have a class where a psychologist comes and talks with people about changes in their life. when we have the fun with food they also incorporate some type of psychology and i do not particularly like that junk. so i find the classes boring.

We have Yoga and Pilates at our Center. It feels wonderful to be at a size 20 now. I was more excited about that than the 3 pounds I lost at weigh-in today. Two more pounds and I'll sign the 70 pound board. I'm so excited. I can really tell in the mirror, but I keep thinking, wow, I've lost almost 100 pounds.

It was diffidult to stay on program on the cruise, but I did the best I could with the choices I was given. Since we can't control the way the food is cooked, I stuck with chicken and fish the whole 10 days and only ordered items from the "healthy" menu in the dining room. I think it was much easier to eat in the dining room than it was to eat at the buffet. I took the stairs every chance I got rather than the elevators and walked a lot. I gained 4 pounds on the cruise, but I was gone for 10 days, so that was pretty good. I took all of my pills and dinks with me. 70 drinks were fun to try to fit in my suitcase. :)

What cruise are you going on? What cruise line? I hope you have an amazing time, and if you do happen to gain, remember that, when you get home, you can always hop right back on program and get things going in the right direction again.

Congratulations to everyone who has lost! Keep up the good work! To everyone who is struggling this week, keep your head up. . . it does get easier.

I'm hoping I'm signing the 70 pound board on Friday. I'm certainly going to try. There's no better feeling for me than finally accomplishing another 10 pounds and getting to pick up that marker and sign the board.

We don't have any ongoing pictures in our center but lots of before and afters. There are only 5 or 6 people who have signed the 60+ boards in our center, so my picture will probably be one that goes up when I'm finished. I can already tell a huge difference in the mirror and I got a lot of comments from friends when I sent out my cruise pictures. Yesterday, the consultant I met with said that she looked at my before picture while I was using the restroom and was floored.

Now, my next goal needs to be getting myself back to the gym on a regular basis. It seems like I'm still playing catch-up from the cruise with things that need to get done.

Awesome job on the 6.5 pounds this week!

Do any of the newbies have any favorite recipes yet?

ok, for those of you that have lost quite a bit of weight. They tell me at MRC that my flabby arms will tighten and not be flabby anymore. My arms are big and floppy (currently 17.5 inches after losing an inch). I just want a "real" person that has lost a considerable amount of weight to to tell me that their flabbiness tightened up. The people at my MRC have only lost between 20-40 lbs and I have 85.5 to lose!!!

I am taking a multi-vitamin, fish oil, MRC-6, Trifala (as needed) and I'm thinking about trying Corti-trim.:^:

Hi Windy. This morning I was at 69.5 pounds lost (grrr. . . that darn 1/2 pound). I would recommend talking to your consultants about getting on Corti-Trim, MSM and UC-II. I am on all three of those in addition to many others, but those three are used to tighten up skin. I don't have any flab (other than what I had when I began this process) and I am seeing my skin tighten up as I progress. Hope that gives you some hope :-)

As far as supplements, I take B-6 and calcium from MRC but most everything else (Estroven, Glucosamine, Essential Oils, SOD) I get from other sources.
I have been thinking about the MRC-6 one though. Because of a heart condition I cannot take any of the enhancers or appeitite suppressants.

I joined MRC last week. I am pleased with the program however I am a bit different from most. I have a metabolic disorder. When I eat too little and excersize too much I produce too much cortisol and gain weight. I am being studied at Mayo but the good news is that they feel that if I EAT MORE and DON"T excersize I should be able to loose weight.
Last June I was 178 lbs. and couldn't seem to loose. I hired a trainer to come to my house 3 times a week. I also play tennis 3-4 x per week. In 6 weeks I gained 26 lbs. The Doctors did lab work and thought I had cushing's syndrom. When I quit training my cortisol dropped and my cholesterol dropped 35 points.
I had lost 6 lbs last week on MRC but on Friday when I went to weigh I had played 3 sets of tennis and had put on 2 of those pounds.
The good news is that I am eating more with MRC (I was at about 1300 cal. a day before) and feel great. Lots of energy! I am optomistic that this will work. It's good to know what's going on even though they don't really know why. Mayo continues to study me.
At least you can all know that someone at Mayo believes MRC is a good program or else they never would have suggested I go there!
I am glad I found this forum. Good luck to you all.

I've lost 7 lbs. in 10 days!!! After my gain after tennis Friday I was discouraged a bit but I knew that it was the excersize and that I would loose today. I was wanting a burger but then saw that I had lost 3 lbs and came home to a chicken wrap instead!

I signed up for the 17 week program that "guarantees" that I'll lose 50 pounds. I'm still confused because I have to lose much more than that. Do most people resign or head out on their own? Also, I was told I CAN have two cups of coffee per day, but I can't have Propel water (sodium). I bought the MR6 and the All Day Diet pills as most of the ladies posting felt those were the important ones. So I'm supposed to precondition for the next few days. Any advice?

Thanks!

Hi everyone, My mom who is 80 pushed me to call MRC and see what it was about I started looking on line and found you. So with what I have read from you and checking it out it self I went and joined last week and will go to my food orientation this week. I'm scared and excited at the same time. I have a Hypothiroid so I'm very worried about taking anything that could cause any problems. I would love to hear from anyone that has done this.

Michelle, I have felt great with the All day. I have a sleep disorder with all of my other problems but since starting the program I have slept so well. As for preconditioning... I was a big Coke drinker and so I just cut out one every 2-3days until I didn't need one anymore. It was so much easier than cold turkey.

Good luck.

Ruby, I have had a thyroid lobe removed and medabolic problems for some time. I am a patient at Mayo Clinic and my Doctor and Nutritionist there thought this would be a good program for me. Talk to your Doctor before starting anything.

ruby i have hypothyroidism . the only thing i have to stay away from is the enhancers. there are times when my loss is not as great as i want it to be but i take in consideration of my thyroid. nothing else has seemed to work for me.

i did go cold turkey on the sodas because at the time i hated all diet sodas no matter what but after the 4 mos i learned to love diet rite. lol

i started out with over 120 lbs to lose and i have resigned up twice now. trying in between on my own but not having as much success.

wi yesterday was 2.4 lbs

Welcome Michelle. I started with 85.5lbs to lose so I signed up for a 24 week program (they had a special running for 1/2 price through my employer so I got in for $200). The way I understood it was if you finished your set amount of weeks and had not lost the guaranteed amount, you would still be able to continue on the program with out paying extra "sign-up" money until your 50 lbs was gone. But, if you have more to lose you have to sign-up and pay for extra weeks. I have found this program very easy and I have had no problems with anything but one of the supplements (just because I could not swallow it). Just stick with the program and it works! I wish you the best in your journey!! I have a little ways to go but I know that I will get there with MRC!

Good to hear the encouraging words. I need something that works yesterday, if you know what I mean. I just feel so crappy all the time with all this fat. I'm SO LAZY! If something can get my can off the couch, it's worth it.

I had my weigh-in last night and I have lost 15.5 lbs and 28.5 inches. I even lost an inch off my neck! Who knew that my neck had fat on it?! I am super excited about being able to wear clothes I have not fit into in a very long time! MRC really has been a dream come true for me! My parents are also on the plan and my dad has lost more than 16lbs and my mom has lost over 10lbs. I am so proud of all of us and look forward to my goal. There is finally light at the end of my tunnel. My Corti-trim came in yesterday so I started that this morning. Good-bye BELLY! WooHoo!

Hello ladies! I finished the preconditioning and lost 2 pounds. That's not so bad considering I totally misunderstood the directions for the shakes. I am now taking total woman (oil) and Co-Q10 (energy) in addition to All Day Weight loss and MRC6. I also ordered a butt load (pun intended) of shakes. I drank five of them today - whew!

Skinnyme, you were only 10 pounds heavier - that's not "way heavier!" But, yes, it will happen I just know it!! The lady who gave us our newbie information is gorgeous - I hated her on sight. But she was very nice and amazingly motivational. I am SO OPTIMISTIC; it's almost frightening....

Shay, I know Ponte Vedre well. I used to visit when I lived in Orange Park and dream about living there among the chic and ultra magnificent homes. My gosh, you are a lucky woman. I live close to the Gulf and it is beautiful, but nothing like your backyard.

michelle good job on the loss. i like the drinks in the afternoon. i mix them with some crushed ice and fruit to make a sorbet dessert.
i don't really cook with them much have tried a few of the chicken recipes.
those pounds will be dropping off in no time. than you will be that gorgeous girl that someone else will be jealous of.

My councilor is beautiful too but what really got me was when she showed me her pictures 95 lbs. ago. I couldn't believe she had been so heavy. It was so incouraging. She's kept it off for 5 years!!!! Something to look forward to!

Michelle, I was a military brat and lived all over the country. This is truely a beautiful place but I think most of Florida is beautiful. We are blessed.

As far as shakes go. I drink 3 a day. I had been a big Starbucks drinker so in the mornings I take a vanilla shake and add strong decaf coffee with a splenda and it is a GREAT vanilla lattee!!! I thought that up and even my councilors had not thought of it. For you coffee drinkers you should try it. VERY satisfying.

skinny, thank you for the praise!!!! We don't always see the results because we see ourselves every day. My tennis partner has been away for spring break for almost two weeks and when she saw me on the courts this week she got so excited. She noticed right away!!! That felt great.

Hi, everyone. I just love this site. Reading all of your posts has been very helpful and motivational to me. I did the MRC program 2 years ago, and lost 30 pounds. Unfortunately, I viewed achieving my goal as the "finish line" and didn't go through the maintenance program. So, after trying several other programs, I signed up at MRC again today. I KNOW the program works, and I'm excited to do it the correct way this time. For those of you who have the cookbook, check out the Amazing Cheesecake recipe. (It's on page 100 in my book.) It's the best.

My favorite drink is the Wildberry Passion flavor. I also love using the Magic Bullet with the strawberry or mixed berry flavor and a few frozen strawberries with a little bit of water and ice. It's yummy!

Here's my other caution to you all: pre-plan every move you make on any vacation. I learned that I should have done that last time, the hard way. Take everything you'll need with you if you can. I'm going to a NASCAR race in a few weeks, and it's going to be a challenge, but I'm determined to do it.

One last helpful hint that you've all probably figured out, I buy the plastic 7-day vitamin cases to sort all of my vitamins and pills into. I think I have at least 7 of them. I sort everything out, and take one with me each day. Very helpful.

I look forward to talking to you all in the months and years to come!

What are these shakes? I did not get them. I got the protein drink powders (clears) and cream of chicken soup (creamy). Are there different versions of this diet? Mine is the Meta Slim. I still don't have a clue but I am losing!

Mom2,
The clear liquids are the "shakes." I was very confused at first too. I knew I was supposed to drink shakes to lose weight, but I didn't have any! :?: The more clear liquids (shakes) you drink, the better. My favorite right now is strawberry kiwi - yum! To add to your confusion, the shakes come in powder form or concentrated liquid form. I love the liquid Wild Berry! The powder form is too sweet...

Southern Gal,
Thanks for the info. We're out of cookbooks at my center. Baked chicken is kinda boring...

michelle127
04-01-2007, 06:27 PM
Wanda,
There are also chocolate and vanilla shakes (the creamies). We're not allowed to have them until after day 5, which for me is Tuesday. Those are not as good for your weight loss as the clears (from what I understand). But that's where we get our chocolate. Yum!

Michelle

Here's the cheesecake recipe. Very cool to have cheesecake for breakfast:

Filling:
2 cups low-fat cottage cheese (1% milk fat)
1 pkg. vanilla shake supplement
1 pkg lemon supplement
2 pkgs Splenda
1/4 tsp. cinnamon
Dash of nutmeg
1 pkg. Knox unflavored gelatin
1/4 cup hot water
2 Tbsp. lemon juice

Crust:
1 cup melba toast
2 tsp. oil
2 pkgs. Splenda

Mix crust ingredients in blender and press in pie pan. Chill while mixing the filling. Mix gelatin with hot water in blender on high. Add remaining ingredients and pour in crust. Chill before serving

Servings: 4
Beginning: Meta Slim Day 11, Meal - Breakfast
Meta Slim Plus Day 5, Meal - Breakfast
Two Meal Plan, Meal - Breakfast

Replaces 4 oz. protein, 1 bread, 1/2 supplement

The creamy's are chocolate and vanilla. The vanilla is what you can use as coffee creamer or as I said before, use all of it and make a lattee.

I'm out of town for a while on vacation so I look forward to seeing everyone's progress when I get back!

It's very easy to get burned out on chicken, especially when you have it for lunch and dinner every day. I mean, you can only cook it so many ways, right? See if your local WM or butcher carries bison. It's awesome and extremely healthy. I found it in my local Supercenter. Check it out!

Manda2831
04-02-2007, 11:26 AM
I'm a big fan of bison. . . and even though it's "red meat" we can eat it for lunch. Creamies also come in cream of chicken with veggies, cappichino, tomato soup, and maybe some others. I've gotten burnt out on chicken and switched to the bison and I also eat a lot of tilapia. I've found a few ways to switch things around so I don't get so bored with it. I don't use the cookbook very often at all anymore.

I am super excited! We had a March Madness contest at my MRC called "The Biggest Loser" for losing inches. I lost 28.5 inches coming in 1st place - Women, and my mom was 3 inches behind me in 2nd place AND my dad won 1st place in the Men's contest. My dad and I won 5 boxes of drinks and a bottle of supplement (I'm getting a bottle of MRC-6)!!!!!! I am so proud of us - and I just love this plan. I was out of town this weekend for a Mary Kay conference and I had no problem staying on plan - it was even easy passing up the cakes and pastries! When you are having progress like this, it is easy not to cheat!

Is their anybody on this board who has had his or her colon removed? I had a bad bout of ulcerative colitis and had my colon removed after about 5 years of steroidal treatment. My metabolism is messed up. MRC is my only hope. I have two bad knees that need to be replaced. Oh, and I'm only 35:-(
Just wondered.

well they said i was losing to fast so they wanted to change up my plan. i was kind of bummed after wi. i lost 1/2 pound this time. i was losing a pound a day which she said was way over the top plus they told me to cut back my exercise to only 3 days a week because that is all the plan calls for. hopefully my body will adjust to the new plan.
congrats on winning the "biggest loser" awesome prizes and a great feeling to go with it.

Oreoparent, I haven't had my colon removed, but my mother has Chron's and my grandfather had ulcerative colitis, so I understand where you're coming from. Good luck with program and let us know if there's anything we can do to encourage you or help in any way.

In other news, I lost another pound today, so that brings my total to 71.5 pounds lost. My dad joined the center on Friday and so far, he's stuck with it. I'm hoping that he continues to do well. He really needs it. The consultants told me this morning that he teared up when he saw my name on the 70 pound board during his tour of the center.

skinnymeinside, don't be discouraged by the 1/2 pound. There's a very good possibility that you're just plateauing and that's completely normal. I've had many plateaus since I've been on program. What it really means is that you're body is trying to readjust to the pounds lost by losing inches. That's how I keep myself motivated during plateaus. . . just remember that even though you're not losing many pounds, you're losing the inches, which mean more visually and the inches are what make the clothes fit better. :-)

Here's wishing all of you great weigh-ins this week! Keep up the good work!

SouthernGal08

What did they change your program to? Losing too fast is better than not losing at all. They're there to guide you, so they'll adjust to get it right.

I had my second official weigh-in yesterday and am down 5 pounds in pre-conditioning, even. I think it's mostly because I'm drinking at least 100 oz of water a day, and eating more salads. I'm starting the official food plan on Friday.

Can any of you remember what's in the "starter kit" they encourage you to buy at the first class? I was on this program 2 years ago, but all of my materials from my entire program (receipts for everything, meal sheets/menus, class notes, etc.) were in a briefcase that was STOLEN from my car, so I'm starting from square one again.

Also, do any of you buy any of the supplements or vitamins online? I found the exact same drinks/puddings on fitslim (dot) com - same drink packets, different box color sometimes. Just wanted to shop around before they talk me into the starter kit. I'd give anything to have my price lists and receipts!!! Oh, well. If anyone has helpful hints on cost, please share.

SouthernGal08
04-04-2007, 02:25 PM
Oh, and lifesvigor (dot) com has the same liquid minerals brand and flavor I used to buy 2 years ago (assume it's the same today, but haven't seen what they sell now) made by Trimedica. I can't compare the prices yet, but some of you might be able to.

Good luck, everyone, as you head to your weigh-ins!
