Ellen 08-07-2006, 08:08 AM Good morning! It is MMM...metal monster Monday...or weigh in day. I was hoping to break into a new decade, but the metal monster is toying with me. I am the same. I DID lose midweek and claimed it, and it seems to be holding- so I am actually down one for the week, it is just not a new one I can claim.
I slept so so. I actually woke up at 4 - exactly. I was able to fall back asleep fairly soon though. Tom woke me up when he left at 6:30.
I think I will get dressed and head out for a walk. It is bound to be cool this early! Later!
ThinWithin225 08-07-2006, 09:40 AM MMM was horrible for me this week!  But, dh and I went out for a walk last night and I have plans for a good walk this evening as well. Then tomorrow evening is my dance class. I am excited and humiliated all at the same time. I had such high hopes for taking off more weight over the summer, not putting some back on!!:eating2: I also have my breakfast and lunch with me today, so maybe I can have a better day today and the rest of the week.
Craig has joined a pipe band, (he's scottish) and he actually suggested the walk last night. He says he has been getting out of breath just playing the bagpipes and will surely be suffering when they start marching too! Maybe we can come up with some times to walk together even if it's just a couple of times over the weekend.
Rachel and Sean are back to afterschool dance classes and band practice, so I'm hoping things will even out and I can come up with a workable exercise/walking plan. I need to adopt the slogan "Just do it!":cheer:
techwife 08-07-2006, 10:55 AM Well, from my overall low, I guess I'm up a good five pounds...but that low I was only at for about one day, but I'm leaving it as something to aim for. The way I've been eating this summer, I'm happy that I've been able to maintain status quo, for the most part, all summer. As long as I remain under 160, I'm happy for now. Once the kids go back to school, I'm going to be a walking maniac. My only excuse was lack of enthusiasm with the kids going with me, but my DOG will walk to the ends of the Earth with me...so once everyone is out of the house, I'm going to ditch these last 20-25 pounds for good! Actually, I've been thinking....if I don't get a job with the school by fall, I'm going to start a routine of walking the dog with Kyle to school, then continue my walk for an hour, come home, shower and start writing. I'm actually starting to look forward to it. Which means, I'll probably get a job at the school. Murphy's Law always works like a charm for me.
Anyhow...we had a nice weekend in the boat. Well, Saturday, anyway. It was a PERFECT day, except Derek got sunburned. He always jumps in the water before I can get the sunblock on him, then comes in and says, "Can you put some on for me?" But once your skin is wet, it all gets diluted and doesn't work...so he slept on the couch the last few nights and wanted to stay in yesterday, so I took the kids to the movies. I get such a rash with the kids in the house all day on weekends. So, with no boat...and not wanting to go to my mom's on the weekend (too many people on the beach), we went to see Barnyard. It was okay....kind of Lion King only in a farm setting. I always hate when kids movies have to be set around tragedy. But, there were some funny parts the kids liked.
My aunt and uncle bought a place a couple miles from my house right on the river and we went there for dinner on Saturday night. They caught a bunch of fish, but didn't know how to cook it, so I found olive oil, bread crumbs, milk and eggs and said, "Step aside....I'll take care of this." So, I made the fish and it was GOOD. Nothing like fresh caught fish!!
Okay....so for breakfast I had two scrambled eggs and a little each of cantaloupe, strawberries and bananas. Off to a good start. Let's hope I can hold out for the day!
Thin: I bet once you get used to the routine of fall, you're MMMs will be fine again. It's always hard to adjust to routine again.
Monet: I'M SURE you will be well into the next set of ten next week. You are doing AWESOME with the new meds.
Happy Monday to everyone else!! Talk to you guys later on!! There's wash to be done and clutter around to be picked up. I hate my house on Mondays...
Talitha 08-07-2006, 12:17 PM Ahhh... It's good to be home. Travis suprised em and came home early yesterday. I wasn't expecting him until tonight. So we came home from my in-laws house. It's nice to be back. I had scrambled eggs with spinach for breakfast. I'm going to eat as OP as I can for breakfasts and lunches, but we have people bringing us meals, so I'm happy to eat whatever for dinner, if it means I don't have to cook :). They actually have meals scheduled for us till the 31st!!! I'm amazed. EVeryone knows that Jacob can't have wheat or dairy, so I'm assuming things will be pretty healthy anyway.
So let's hope that I get some good loss in the next few weeks from baby weight. I have an appt at 2pm today to check my stitches, but I doubt they will weigh me. I'll get some batteries in my home scale and start watching myself.
I'm thinking the Dr may way that I can start walking a little bit. If so, I'll take the kdis to the Y and start walking slowly around the track a few times, every day. I'm feeling so motivated to get in shape. It's only been 10 days and I can't beleive how much my belly has already gone down. Seems more than with the others.
Thin- Isn't it nice when there's someone else motivated to get things going? I have such a ahrd time getting Travis to exercise with me.
Tech- The fish sounds great!!
Ok, of to get some laundry going. I've got to get caught up so I can get my cloth diapering going again.
KayeC 08-07-2006, 03:07 PM Happy Monday,
Monday is my laundry day too and I have only a couple more loads to go.
Next Sunday we take older DS to college. It is really hard to believe it is here!
Tonight is going to be a taco salad and cantaloup.
This morning we bought new shoes for school and paid school fees. Ouch!
Just a fly by need to pay bills.

Ellen 08-07-2006, 04:14 PM I just got in from a run to Costco where I got frozen strawberries for Tom's smoothies, and a few other things. I found some Mrs. Mays Strawberry Nut Crunch and picked up a bag. It is pretty good stuff. The sugar grams were 8 per serving, but since it has strawberries in it, and the cane juice was about the last ingredient, I thought it might not be too bad. It is very yummy. I got a box of Larabars too. Pancho had told us about them a while ago. They are fruit and nuts, and no added anything. They are organic and raw so the raw foodies can eat them. I have had them before and they are all pretty tasty.
I am tired. I may take a nap.
mandi78 08-07-2006, 04:35 PM If I want to make some bread and don't have any agave (and don't know where to get it), can I use sweet n low, splenda or something like that? Is honey allowed?
THE BIG ORANGE BABE 08-07-2006, 05:02 PM http://bestsmileys.com/hello/5.gif
Didn't take a luch today so I'm home early. I know it's only been TWO GOOD MONTHS since school let out, but this morning these MOM'S AND DAD'S taking their kids to the HIGH SCHOOL were working my last nerve! http://bestsmileys.com/cars/11.gif I sat at my corner for a good ten minutes because not one person would move! I'm going to start going in at 7:30 a.m. and home at 4p.m. That will help the situation some.
KRIS...I HATE FRESH FISH!! http://bestsmileys.com/fishing/1.gif I must have had a bad experience as a child that I can't remember, because I don't want any part of fish from the Lake or the River...now I'll eat the bottom out of the ocean for all the fish in there. All my family thinks I'm just crazy because they are huge catfish eaters...I always have to have something else..
MONET...I didn't sleep soundly again last night...Had I known you were up, we could have conversed!
MANDI..GOOD TO SEE YA...WELCOME BACK!!!
KAYE...I bought melon yesterday at the grocery, but have no fixings for the TACO SALAD...I fixed a big pork tenderloin yesterday so I imagine we will have leftovers tonight. I'll probably make Kate some mashed tators and do a hot pork sandwich for her.
TALITHA...Glad to hear you and the MUNCHKINS are home. I know you're glad to be there. There's no place like your own bed at night! LUCKY YOU with having meals brought in. My Niece's neighborhood in Louisville did that for all the new Mommys for a month after the births. I don't know if her new neighborhood in NC will do that or not. Be careful and don't do too much too soon...I know you feel good, but you sure don't want to get down and out with a new MUNCHKIN in the house! MAKE SURE BEFORE YOU START THE WALKING!!!
THIN...How cool that CRAIG is doing the BAGPIPES...I just love to hear them.
ALRIGHT...WHERE'S JACKIE????
Had some http://bestsmileys.com/umbrellas/4.gif on the way home from work, but I see that the http://bestsmileys.com/umbrellas/3.gif is already back out. I know it's probably really steamy out there, I'll wait until the sun goes down to take out the trash to them to pick up in the morning!
I'm off to see what I can get in to...
BOB
Ellen 08-07-2006, 05:17 PM MANDI: The sugar or honey or agave is just to feed the yeast. Use sugar. It only takes like 2 Tablespoons for a whole recipe and that is not going to be much. Honey would be ok too, if you prefer. Splenda or sweet and low will not feed the yeast and will NOT work.
Solly 08-07-2006, 05:22 PM Guess I got caught. I got on here early and no one was here so I thought I would wait and the day got away from me.
MMM has me down, but the scale at WW is different than mine so I have adjusted mine to be the same, but last week's wt is by the old scale, ........ So I think I am down 1 or 2. I was down 1.5 at WW on Sat.
Busy night tonight, Have to run by the funeral home on my way home, mother of 2 ladies in my bunco club died. Then I have to get to the gym, get dinner, get to GNC as it is the last day for the discount card, the girls play VB at 8;00. I really need to go to the grocery, but don't think I can fit it in tonight. Maybe tomorrow night.
Weekend eating was pretty good. Not 100% but close.
Bob, I'm here, just late. I was saying today that I dread next week when some of the schools are back. Traffic is always so much worse. I'm with you on thecatfish. Can't even stand to look at them.
Mandi, welcome back. Yes I believe you can use the splenda in lieu of agave.
KayeC, I'm not complaining that I don't have school fees any more. They were always a punch in the pocketbook. Time flies so quickly once the get in college and high school.
Talitha, There's no place like home. Glad you are back. Take your time and don't rush too much exercise. It will come. I had so many dinners brought to me when I was doing chemo. You just eat what they bring and enjoy.
Monet, sorry you didn't see another loss, maybe it will come in the middle of the week like last week.
Thin, it's nice to have your DH walk with you. Makes it much more fun. That band sounds interesting. Once school starts, all the activities and running all the time starts again too. Enjoy your ballet class and don't worry about your weight.
Tech, now we are going to hold you too all that exercise and walking you have planned. I'm with BOB on the fish. I wouldn't even handle it.
Almost time to go home. I was wanting to eat something, but got on here instead. Hope the desire stays away for another 25 minutes.
Have a good evening everyone.
GatorGal 08-07-2006, 06:50 PM Hi everyone,
MMM has me down one pound. 174. Not my lowest, but on the way down. I have not had any sugar of any kind in over a week. I have also been reading some literature from OA which has been very helpful. I can see why I get the "crazies" every once in a while.
The contractor is still here but everything in the house will be done in a couple of weeks. We are having a big party on the 19th and he knows he has a deadline. We have decided to let him work on getting our garage so it is not always a mess. He is happy about that. Men just love garages!!
Ellen 08-07-2006, 07:50 PM GATOR: Welcome back! You were missed!
THE BIG ORANGE BABE 08-07-2006, 07:57 PM GATOR....NO TRIP NEWS?????
BOB
Talitha 08-07-2006, 09:09 PM Lunch was a bean burrito, WW tortilla. DInner was SOme kinda Curry dish with chicken and cashews. It was in a coconut milk base. DELICIOUS!!! I loved it and only ate a tiny bit of the white rice with it. So far so good.
My DR appt was good. Everything looking great. I'm allowed to drive, but he almost knocked me on the head when I asked if I coudl walk. He very nicely reminded me that walking 3 miles a day, 3 weeks after my first c-section caused 2 holes in my incision. I guess I had forgotten.... so no walking for now, but I can do light housework and even that feels great.
Ok, gotta get the kids in bed early. Short naps today has turned them into little monsters...
techwife 08-07-2006, 10:03 PM Talitha: I don't know what you call it, but you seem to have the exact opposite of post partum depression. You sound SO HAPPY and well adjusted. Except for the ants in your pants. Doctor's right...put your feet up and relax. You'll literally pop a stitch!! You'll get the green light soon enough. Walking so soon....you're lucky you feel like it. When I had Shelley, I had no less than FORTY FIVE stitches. It was all I could do to walk around the house and pick her up for, like, a week. Everywhere I went, I carried a pillow in case I needed to sit down and fell madly in love with a bag of frozen corn. Gosh, I loved that corn :cloud9: Best 89 cents I ever spent.
Gator: Glad to see you back!! Glad the renovations are coming to an end. Is the contractor invited? And...what is OA and why does it give you the crazies?
Solly: That IS a busy night. Sorry to hear about your friends' mom. I'm glad WW is working for you little by little. But I'm even more glad you are still here with us!!
Solly/Bob: And, the fish is great. We always get perch and my dad used to make a great beer batter. I make it healthier with olive oil and don't use batter, but use the old dipping in egg/milk, then bread crumbs. I bet if I blended it all together, that'd be good, too. Hmmm....
Bob: Those school busses are a ROYAL PAIN, I agree. I remember, BACK IN MY DAY...our bus used to pull over constantly and let people pass. The worst is when you get behind a little kid bus and they take forEVER to get off the bus. Such a production.
Mandi: Have fun making the bread. Be sure and make a pizza with the bread dough someday. Totally legal if the dough is. Just spread it out on the cookie sheet, brush on some olive oil before adding ingredients and it's good to go! Don't forget the olive oil...it'll be impossibly dry if you don't.
Money: What is the strawberry crunch thing? Guess what....our Mustard Seed just moved to a bigger location. Once I am shopping alone, I'm looking there for larabars and things. Kyle is too much of a stress in stores that don't have toys...so, I'll make it one more thing to look forward to once he goes to school.
Kaye:  Hope you got the laundry done!!
Well, I took the kids to a place called Wilson's Bay. I've never swam there, but the neighbors take their kids there all the time. By the time I got the house cleaned (somewhat...it's never truly clean), I didn't feel like going to my mom's and having to sit and chat, etc...so I thought I'd jsut go around the corner. NEVER AGAIN. It was fun, but the ROCKS. I kept falling over because the WAVES were GIGANTIC. You could have literally surfed. The kids had a blast because they have those water shoes, but I only had flip flops. I kept getting knocked over and the waves were so wild it ripped the hair scrunch thingy from my hair and blew me right out of my flip flops. Once we were out there, it was fun. BUT...and this is the big problem...we got home and had SO MUCH SEAWEED in our hair. Mine came out pretty well, but Shelley (don't know if you remember seeing her hair...almost exactly like Rosanne Rosanna Danna from SNL - Gilda Radner character) washed her hair about seven times and conditioned it about four and STILL has seaweed in her hair. I keep calling her a mermaid. Of course, Kyle was reborn with the waves...he LOVED it...so he only wants to go swimming at Wilson's Bay from now on. And I'll never get Shelley to go in there again.
So...anyhow...got in a good workout with BOTH kids hanging from me while we jumped over the gigantic waves. Then took the kids out for pizza. Other than that...eating's been good.
Talk to you guys later...Kris
fruitloupe 08-07-2006, 10:44 PM Hey My Bustin Pals!
Well, I’m back on the wagon…BOB came by and picked me up! HAH! You didn’t know that huh BOB?! Seriously, I just started back on plan AGAIN today. School started today and I’m starting the school year off by trying to eat right.
I’ve had a long time to think this summer while at home with Alexis (yes we still have her and she is adorable) and I decided that I don’t want to be the fat mommy. Also, I’ve been having fears of sitting in chairs and not being able to fit or will it break? Any one ever have that fear? Well, I’m tired of living like that. It has taken me a LONG time to come to this realization. I’ve started the diet, stopped the diet, started and stopped – it’s been an endless cycle. I guess I never really wanted to do this – obviously – you all that have been here and have known me for years know that I’m so on again/off again it’s ridiculous. I’m actually to a point where I’m embarrassed. I know it’s time…I see it..I feel it. So, I come crawling back to my friends here on the board and I ask you again for support. Have y’all given up on me? Do you think I’m destined to fail? HELP! My biggest downfall whenever I was trying to stay on plan was my weekend drinking (white russian daiquiris) but now that we have Alexis, we don’t go to our “watering hole” anymore. The last time I drank was for Mardi Gras. I’ve managed to take off 20 pounds since we got the baby and I know it’s because of the drinking. We still eat out and I eat junk all of the time. So, imagine how well I could do if I would just watch what I eat.
I saw that the last time I came to the board was May 17th – that is terrible. Lately, Alexis has been going to bed between 6:30 & 7:00 so if this continues…I will have time to come to the board at least 3 times a week. With the start of a new school year things will be hectic but I am going to do my best to get here as often as possible.
As for things with Alexis…things look really good for us – we go to court October 2nd to see if the judge will terminate parental rights. The case plan has been changed to termination/adoption so things look really good. But, until all is said and done – I will be uneasy. The court system can be so unpredictable. The parents haven’t done their part so it should be an open and shut case so we’ll see. I’ll try to attach a picture. If you remember – we got her when she was 3 months – now she’s 13 months and she is DELIGHTFUL! We are loving her up!
QUESTION: I really need to re-read the book – has there been an updated version of the book printed that has the latest info – all I have is the first book and I’m sure things have changed some….like carrots…what’s the deal with them – yes or no now?
Well, let me chat with a few of you!!
MONET: I’m so happy to see that you are still running the ship here girl! How have you been feeling?
THIN: It’s great to have a walking buddy – you actually tend to walk if you do! When I walk alone – I’m more prone to skip!! I will be getting a bike for my birthday so I will start out with that first until I can take some weight off. Walking hurts my feet so much so I know that I’ll do better with biking in the beginning.
TECH: A day out on the boat sounds wonderful! How hot is it there? It’s just miserable here right now. When do y’all start school? Our students start tomorrow. It’s getting earlier and earlier each year! Pretty soon we won’t have summer at all!
TALITHA: You had your baby! What did you have? Cloth diapers – are you crazy?!?! Girl….I certainly couldn’t do that! Congrats!!
KAYEC: I look forward to getting to know you! You wanna do my laundry too? Better yet – clean my house!! HA! I’ve started saving for tuition myself. I still have 4 years before Alexis will go to kindergarten but I started saving $200 a month for the tuition already so that it doesn’t kill us! We don’t make tons of money – as I stated earlier – I’m a teacher – so we really have to plan ahead!
MANDI: What a cutie in the santa suit!! Is that your baby?
BOB: Hey my buddy!! It’s so good to “see” you! I hear ya on the catfish! Can’t stand it! I think it has something to do with that gray strip of gunk. I get so grossed out with I break the fish apart and that string is there from that gray stuff. It makes the fish taste “fishy” if you get my drift! UGH! My favorite is speckled trout! You know I had to get on here before football season started!!
SOLLY! HEY!! Good to see you too! How have you been feeling? Are you still having some aches and pains? WTG on the loss this week. I always like my scale best – all others say I weigh more!!
GATOR: HEY to you too!! What are you doing to your house? Renovations? We want to do our kitchen but to replace the cabinets and put the granite I want will cost quite a bit – so I really need to save up some cash!! Hope it’s all done for your party – what’s the occasion? Are you still taking French classes or are you all done with that? Trip? Where did you go this time?!?
Well, it’s so good to see that all of my friends are still here….please help me stay on plan this time! I feel that I have different motivation this time – I feel more prepared and ready than I have in the past so I hope that’s a good sign.
I’ll check back in tomorrow!
Much Love!
Missy
P.S. I want to do a short term goal – lose 40 by Christmas – do you think that’s possible? I really want to do 50 but I don’t want to push it!
fruitloupe 08-07-2006, 10:59 PM Ok - so I'm a photo moron and I can't get the picture down to the correct size!!! HELP!
Ellen 08-07-2006, 11:46 PM FRUIT!!! We love you, and don't disown you because you start and stop some. We ALL do that. Your motivation this time sounds very good, and I think you are going to succeed this time. I can relate about the chairs. I went to a wedding a few years ago, and the only chairs left at the reception when I got through the line were these awful folding chairs. I sat on one and it collapsed beneath me, and I fell onto the floor. I was SO embarrassed! It was motivating, but I just could NOT lose no matter how careful I was. I am losing now, but its the medication I am on. Not sure if you saw last time you were on, but I got diagnosed as a diabetic. There is another reason you want to lose! You don't want to be at risk for it. Exercise is really important. Can you find a place to take a water aerobics class? Its so wonderfully easy on the joints. I have a pool and I LOVE LOVE LOVE it. I find exercise is more important to lowering my blood glucose levels than what I eat. It is truly amazing. I have become an exercise junkie- today I did three workouts! There was a revised book, but I think the old one is fine. There are not a lot of changes. Carrots are ok, better if raw though. If you have questions, someone on here probably has answers. :)
On the pictures, if you would like me to help you resize them for the board, send me a PM and I will give you my email address. You can email them to me and I will resize them for you. Pretty soon, it won't matter, as the new version of the board's software will do the resizing for you. I think it is supposed to be updated this coming weekend.
Ellen 08-07-2006, 11:47 PM Oh, and I think your goal of 40 pounds by Christmas is doable! Go for it!
GatorGal 08-07-2006, 11:50 PM Tech--OA is Overeaters Anonymous, which is a 12 step program. It is spiritually based, but I was able to find a Christian-specific group online and have attended some of their online meetings. The first step is "We admitted we were powerless over food and that our lives had become unmanageable." That pretty much describes me and so I decided to look into this. So far I have been following a sane way of eating for almost 2 weeks.
Yes, the contractor is invited to the party!! So he is working hard to have everything ready. :)
BOB--Our trip to the Canadian Rockies and Banff and Lake Louise was great. It was not cool enough, though, because they were getting part of the heat wave that was moving across the continent. We stayed in some nice hotels and did a lot of nice hiking before the heli-hiking began. The heli-hiking was more difficult because the incline for the hikes was sometimes 20%. That's steep. The elevation was 8000 feet, and to a flatlander from FL, there is not much oxygen up there that high. So it took less exertion to have me gulping for air. By the end of the day we were exhausted and just fell into bed right after dinner. It was fun, though, and the meals were great. Scenery was spectacular, and we even had lunch on a glacier one day.
Well, it's bedtime. So I'm gonna hit the hay.
fruitloupe 08-08-2006, 07:35 AM Hey everyone!
Well, I’m up and at it early today so I figured I’d check the board while I had a minute!
MONET: Thanks for being such a great friend and giving me such a warm WELCOME BACK! I can so relate to the chair situation. It never happened in front of a bunch of peeps but it did happen in front of a few friends. Horrible feeling! I did know that you were diagnosed with diabetes…..I’m glad to hear you are ok. A friend of mine was diagnosed this summer. So, we will work together on taking off some weight. The good thing is that she is a work friend so we can watch each other’s back all day!! I do feel better this time around and I feel more confident that I can be successful. I was hoping that my Christmas goal wasn’t too high. I’m going to shoot for 40 and if I can get more – even better!
Well, I’m off to get ready for school! I’ll try to report in tonight with how my first day with the kiddos went!!
Have a great day!
Missy
Solly 08-08-2006, 09:54 AM Gee, the whole gang is back. Now if we can get Pancho, Country, and some others whose names escape me now back we will be one happy family.
While I was standing at the funeral home last night, I started having pains down my leg. As I shifted my wt to get comfortable, I realized my back was hurting. Go figure. Just standing there. No problems during the day or driving. So now I can't sit or stand for long. I may have to get an epidural on Thursday if it is not better today or tomorrow. The Dr goes out of town for a week so Thursday is his only day in this office. I already have an appt with my breast surgeon on Thursday. May have to reschedule.
Did make it to the gym for 30 minutes. I could only do the EFX machine for 10 minutes, switched to the :tread: and lasted 6 minutes, ended up on the bike for 10 minutes. That was all I could stand. But boy did I sweat.
Can't wait to get to the grocery tonight. I am out of fruits and veggies and everything else.
Gator, welcome back. How was your trip? Sounds like you behaved yourself eating wise. OA has a great program and you can follow any diet you choose. I think any help that works is great. Can't have too much support. I have joined WW (1) for the discipline of having to weigh in to someone and (2) getting my girls to do it with me. They really need it and now is the time before they get older and it is harder to lose.
Talitha, you had better take it easy and do as the dr orders. I don't see how you even have time to think about exercising with 3 little ones, much less want to.
Tech, I got such a laugh about your "bag of corn" You are crazy.
Fruit, Oh my Gawd. I'm so happy to see your post. we have missed you. You have to decide when the time is right and when it is you know it. Sounds like this is it. pretty soon Alexa will want you to get down on the floor and play and you want to be able to do those things. You can do it, just take 1 day at a time. I so know what you mean about the drinking. That was my downfall too. I could be 100% all week, a couple of drinks on the weekend, then the eating takes a dive. Then Monday, I start all over. That's one reason I decided to try WW. I think your goal is doable, 10 lbs a month. Have fun with your kiddos today.
Have a great day everyone!
techwife 08-08-2006, 10:26 AM Solly: Frozen veggies make GREAT compresses. I have a bag of frozen peas (or maybe its corn again) that I use for scraped knees or banged heads on the kids. Of course, I'll never eat the stuff once its thawed and frozen again and again...and you have to replace it once it gets to be one big block of ice, but it conforms perfectly to whatever you're trying to cool off. And it all started with my 45 stitches. :D
Missy: So glad to see you around again. So glad you still have Alexis. I would go nuts with up and down emotions not knowing if she is a permanent fixture. Hugs and prayers that all goes well in October and you get to keep her for good! Hope the first day of school goes without a hitch! And, 10 pounds a month doesn't sound out of the question at all. If you can do it, do it!! I'm looking forward to the pictures!!
Gator: How long have you been going to OA? I hope it works for you. Your trip sounds like a BLAST! I've never heard of heli-hiking! Sounds extreme! And fun!!
Monet:  Good morning!! How's your espresso? (I've got your routine down ;) )
Well, last night, just as we were preparing to get ready to go out on the boat with Derek, he calls and says (he was about a half hour from home) that he had to turn around and to go PITTSBURGH.....PENNSYLVANIA. So, that's why we went to the other bay to go swimming and then for pizza. He was actually headed for home to see us for a bit before heading to VT for the night. Its like...next he'll be headed for NJ and they'll say, 'well, we need you in Boise today instead, so turn around and go the other way for a few days...' Well...he would never go to Boise, but you get my drift.
Anyhow...I did an official weighing and I'm actually at 156...pretty much where I've been all summer. So, I'm happy with where I am, given how naughty I've been with eating.
Well, gotta go get something to eat for breakfast. Talk to you guys later.
Kris
Ellen 08-08-2006, 11:06 AM Good morning from your crabby mod.... I woke up late, which was fine! Well, I actually woke up SEVERAL times which was NOT fine, but I stayed in bed. When I got up, and checked my morning glucose levels, they were astronomical! I was floored! I can't for the life of me figure out why! Unless my shot last night did not work properly, which is a possibility. It hurt like you know what when I did the injection, and my post dinner test was high, so maybe it did not inject properly. Anyway, this morning, I did the shot, ate breakfast (two eggs, ww English muffin, water) took my meds and will check the levels in a little while. Right now, I feel very shaky, like its falling rapidly. I AM drinking espresso...how clever of you Tech to know. This is the first cup I have made myself in almost a week though! ;) See, that is my problem. I can't stick to a routine!
I did get the dishwasher unloaded and reloaded while my eggs cooked. I am sore from all my workouts yesterday, but need to do an upper body weight one soon. As soon as my glucose levels stabilize I guess...
FRUIT: Have fun at school! I am a bit jealous...I quit my teaching job due to changes they made that made the job uber stressful. :( I am going to miss the kids terribly.
TECH: Wow...Pittsburgh is not that close is it? If they send him to Atlanta, you better come along! I have heard of using a bag of corn for a cold press...or peas. I think it was suggested on the hysterectomy web site....
SOLLY: Gosh, I hope your back gets better soon. Mine bothers me in the mornings some, like this morning. Usually some stretching, then sitting in a good chair for a bit helps mine to relax. I think with me it is spasms. Once it relaxes, it is fine. You are such a trooper doing all those exercises with your back hurting!
GATOR: I went to a few OA meetings with a friend of mine. She lost a LOT of weight going to them. I purchased the book to read, and found it interesting. At the time, I did not feel like I was a food addict, and did not pursue getting involved with the program. I do remember their diet cut out sugar. I think they were ahead of their time with that...now we know sugar causes cravings. Back then (it was at least 15 years ago) no one would have believed it. I hope everything is all ready for your party.
TALITHA: You have plenty of time to get back to walking...later. You need to let yourself heal. Too much activity can cause scarring, and you don't want that. And DO NOT vacuum. That was one thing they mentioned over and over on the hysterectomy board, and I am sure it is the same for a C-section. You want everything to heal well before you strain the insides...so be careful! So, if you have extra time, sit down, put your feet up and read a story to your sweet little ones. Don't make me come down there! :rollpin: If you get bored: :callme:
I will check in later! Off to check the bg levels!
heartmom 08-08-2006, 01:45 PM Hey, guys. Not in a good mood today. I'm so upset with hubby. I don't want to go into it, but I'm at the point where I'm just emotionally exhausted with him. Anyway....FRUIT- It's good to hear from you! Look, if these guys haven't run me off yet then you're surely welome back. I've been more OFF than on for months now. My weight is up right now, in the lower 170's where I was averaging the lower 160's and even at an all time low of 159 a year ago. I'm very discouraged and dissapointed in myself. I feel all bloated and fat. I know I need to lose this weight just not for my health, but I'll feel a sense of accomplishment, I'll be able to get back into clothes I haven't worn in months, I'll look better and feel better. I just feel icky right now. I still haven't found the connection yet with me losing some weight, feeling and looking better, then gaining it back knowing I feel like crap when I do:?: Doesn't make sense. I also am a food addict. I used to have an "occasional" binge, but over the past few months, it really has gotten wayyyy out of hand..hense the weight gain. I know this is something that I have to solve for myself. But man why does it have to be so hard?! GATOR- What is that OA site online? I don't have the time for meetings. But going to it online while at work(like now), might be beneficial. TECH- 156 is awesome! Especially if you haven't been OP. Talitha- Give yourself time to heal! You've probably have loss a good bit of weight, just give your body time to adjust. BTW- He's adorable! Alright, here's my menu:
post-workout- grapefruit
BF- 4 egg whites and spinach scrambled in 1 tsp macadamia nut oil, topped with a slice of pepper jack cheese(the pepper jack cheese rocks!)
Lunch- made a large salad with Low Sodium tuna, veggies, lite 3 cheese ranch dressing
Snack- yogurt
Supper- thin pork chops cook in a litte mac. nut oil, a small sweet potato, and Glory turnip greens.
Alright, that's it for now!
techwife 08-08-2006, 02:31 PM Laurie: I hope things with you and your hubby smooth out. Marital stress may be what your weight obstacles are stemming from. Stress really sucks...I've been there and that is what slapped 50 pounds ON me in one year back in 1999 or so. Size 5/6 to size 15/16 in one year was devastating...but it was all stress. I'll be saying a prayer for you...
Monet: you sound like you need to relax by the pool with a glass of green tea on the rocks. Sorry you had a crabby morning...but at least you got your espresso in ;)
Menu check:
BF: Bowl of cheerios. I know...not legal, but it was better than Honey Smacks...that were right next to the Cheerios. :fr:
Lunch: Tuna sandwich with cheese and lettuce, 1/4 cantaloupe and about 4 strawberries.
Dinner: Burgers on WW buns with (gasp) potato salad. I'm going to keep my portion small. Truth be told, I'm actually getting a little sick of potato salad. Which is good and bad. Good that I'm getting sick of it...bad that I've been eating so much of it that I'm getting sick of it. Oh, well...I've resigned myself to the fact that I'm officially maintaining until I can have some time alone to step up the exercise. I can't even to tapes because Derek took ALL the space on the shelves under the TV and filled them with Gamecubes, XBoxes and Playstations.
okay...trying to get a decision out of Kyle whether he wants to go to my mom's or the park. I'm hoping he wants to just go to the park. In fact, I'M the mommy, I think I just made up his mind for him.
Off to the park!!
Kris
thunderwoman62 08-08-2006, 04:58 PM Hi all,
Sorry have been MIA this weekend. Hubby drove in Friday evening by surprise after getting his new 18 wheeler for work. Have spent the weekend and Monday doing things together and giving Ashley a small family birthday party beings hes not going to be home for the 18th. He left this morning going to Wisconsin and will be gone for 3 weeks. The girls were clinging like tye vines the whole weekend. He couldn't even go outside without them running to see if he was leaving or not.:listen: He rode us in it. I love it. Maybe next summer I can go on a run with him while the girls stay with his mom for a couple of weeks. They will not be able to go with him until they turn 10 which Danielle will be able to in a year and a half. But Ashley will not for 6 more years.:( Anyway eating has been on and off good. Have gained 2lbs but will get them off plus more in the next 3 weeks. I will just be glad when the kids eat the rest of the birthday cake...I haven't been able to stay out of it because of the coolwhip icing:o.. Only a piece or 2 left.;)
Fruit-:welcome3: back. I know what you mean about the on and off again eating. All the weight I lost before I got preg with Ashley came back plus 10 lbs to go with it. But I am happy to say 42 of its gone now and I'm going to keep it gone with some more to go with it.:carrot:
Monet-Sorry your meds didn't do their job. Curtis has been trying to keep his BG from falling to low. It was 173 this morning before he took his shot and ate. So I figure by now hes had to stop and get some sugar into his system.;)
Bob-Howdy Bob!!!!:flow1: I love catfish but I take the dark out before I try, I can't stand to see it espcially fried its nasty...but my most favorite fish is white perch..yummy  I'll take white perch over any kind of fish....I guess I'm fishy that way:rofl:
Talitha-Glad you got to get home. Nothing makes you feel better than getting to stay in your own home. Even tho it was nice of your mom-in-law to take care of you. Take it easy no vacumning. It will pull your stitches.
Tech-Hi there!!! Yes we are the mommy!!!!
Heart-Sorry you and hubby are not doing well. Will say a prayer for you.
Gator-Glad you enjoyed your trip. Its nice to go on vacation but its also nice when you get home to.;)
Solly-Hi there!!! I am going to start walking at our local walking park when the girls start school in a couple of weeks. I haven't been able to because Ashley loves running off and I can't handle her doing that with the park right next to the road.:dizzy:
To anyone I missed have a wonderful evening and eat legal!!!!!:grouphug: :balloons: :dust:
THE BIG ORANGE BABE 08-08-2006, 05:09 PM http://bestsmileys.com/sports1/14.gifYEAH...MY FOOTBALL BUDDYS ARE ALMOST ALL BACK...AND JUST IN TIME FOR THE SEASON TO START!!!!http://bestsmileys.com/sports1/11.gifhttp://bestsmileys.com/sports1/14.gif
GATOR...Glad to hear that y'all had a good time. Wish it had been cooler for you. A friend of mine went to the Northern extreme of Canada on vacation a few weeks ago and he said it was hot in Canada until he got up there and then it was freezing! Maybe y'all just didn't far enough North!
I went to OA one time. There was a meeting just down the street from my house and when I got there, I felt so out of place. Everyone there was either anorexic or bulemic. Now y'all know I LOVE TO EAT, but neither one of those problems fit OLE BOB!! I had to be at the wrong kind of meeting, but it was enough to keep me from finding the one I should've been at!
MISSY!!!! GREAT TO SEE YOU!! Sorry I've been lax in my emails, but...well...no excuse...just haven't been on top of things lately! I've been missing my LEXIE fix's...haven't had any current pictures since her birthday! SHAME ON HER MOMMY!!!
I need to redo the seats in the WAGON...how was the ride? Guess it doesn't matter cause you got here anyway! NOW STAY PUT!!!
TALITHA...see...you'll listen to OLE BOB one of these days...I thought it was a little early. I'm surprised they are letting you drive! Like KRIS said...you'll get that http://bestsmileys.com/stoplights/1.gif soon enough!
MONET...Sorry you were crabby this morning. Hope your mood has improved. I had another restless night. Woke up in the middle of the worst attack of night sweats ever! My poor pillow was sopping wet!
LAURIE...Don't get stressed out...it's not worth it in the end. Don't let him get to you like this..I know that's easier said than done.. http://bestsmileys.com/hugging/4.gif
JACKIE...Sounds like your SCIATIC NERVE to me...happens to me a lot. Hope it's feeling better!
I'm off to see what I can get in to...Later! http://bestsmileys.com/kissing2/5.gif

His truck is white with a eagle on the doors and top of the sleeper. Its really very nice and he has a nice size bed.
ThinWithin225 08-08-2006, 09:52 PM Tonight was my first ballet class and I made it, but walked out with jello legs!:dizzy: There are only four of us, three moms and one teen. One mom is the teacher's mom and she's probably in her 50's! It was fun. I remembered more than I thought and actually think I did better on some things than the others. The teacher is a young fresh out of college girl, but very nice. She kept saying that we and our bodies are all different, so what is the right position for you may not be right for someone else. Thanks goodness we're all different or it would be boring. ;) Bless her heart! She tried to make sure we all felt comfortable. We did some arm, abs and buns floor exercises and then some barre work. we only did 2-5 repetitions of each and we'll build up each week. Try to practice at home 2-3 times a week. It was nice. I have posted on the exercise board two days in a row! going to shoot for three!!!~:cp:
fruitloupe 08-08-2006, 10:02 PM Good Evening!
Well, I had a great OP day! It was the first day with kids and I have to say – it wasn’t too bad….I’ll give you a report after the week and let you know if I still feel the same way! HA!
SOLLY: I’m so sorry that you are still having aches and pains. I’m not looking forward to my aching feet now that I’ll be standing in front of a classroom all day long. My plantar faciitis (sp?) just kills me! I can barely walk at night! I do have permission to wear my tennis shoes to school so I may have to start doing that. I tell ya – I’ve been trying to get my big arse up and down off of the floor and it isn’t fun! I have been this way for so long now….I don’t know what it’s like to just hop up!! I can’t wait to feel good again. Thanks for the warm welcome back my friend…you know I love ya!!
TECH: I had to laugh at myself b/c I misread your post about the frozen veges. I thought you said it was good for banging on the heads of your kiddies!! HAHAH! I even had a visual of that! The emotional roller coaster with Alexis is very tough. Fortunately, the parents have continually screwed up so I never really had to worry – you know – oh they are starting to show signs that they are doing things – that just never happened. I just can’t wait until after October 2nd. Hopefully the judge that pushed for termination still has the same feelings. Once rights are terminated they have one visit with her and that’s it. Then Alexis goes into the adoption section of the process and that can take 6 months to a year. That part doesn’t bother me at all – once he makes the ruling – she’s ours – the rest is just paperwork. It’s just the ruling that I’m concerned about. I don’t want him to change his mind. But, from what I hear this judge doesn’t play around at all. Thanks for the thoughts and prayers – we need all we can get!
MONET: Gosh…I sure hope you get those levels regulated! That must be so scary! We have a child at school that is severely diabetic (is that a possible diagnosis) and he has to go to the office several times a day to check his levels. He’s very religious about it though and never misses a beat! As for being jealous of my heading back to work – girl please! If I could retire – I’d do it in a heartbeat! The system is so backasswards (get it) right now – one year they want one thing, the next year something totally different – we are so tired of the mess. I envy you! I’m sorry that your illness has stopped you from doing something you love though…that is unfortunate!!
HEART: Sorry to hear about the tiff with the hubby…hope you can work things out. I am so with you about the feelings, clothes, food addict, etc. We must be twins!! Well, hope you are feeling better tomorrow! We can do this!! Thanks for the motivation – it really helps to know others have the same feelings as you!
THUNDER: WTG with you weight loss! That is wonderful! It must really be hard for the girls when their daddy is gone for such long periods of time. I can see why they are so clingy when he’s home. Going with him on a run will give y’all some good quality time together – sounds like fun!
BOB: I do have some new pictures to send to you – she is just getting cuter every day! I wish I could take credit for how cute she is but I can’t! She’s probably lucky she isn’t mine biologically she wouldn’t want my genes! Your seats in your wagon are just fine – I had enough cushion on my own bottom that the ride was quite comfy! HAH!
QUESTION FOR EVERYONE: I know that many of you have already gone through the “change” or are in the process of it, but for those of you that are still having the monthly visitor….are any of you on a pill called seasonale? It’s a 3 month pack of pills – you take all the pills and you aren’t supposed to have a period but every 3 months. Well, I’m on week 6 of the 12 week pill pack and I’ve been bleeding for the last 2 ½ weeks – heavily like a period. Anyone else have this? The doctor put me on this to help my endometriosis. With my last few cycles I was starting to have the back pain that I experienced each time I had endometriosis. So, I asked him about having a hysterectomy b/c this would be my 4th surgery for endometriosis and that is just ridiculous. And since we aren’t trying to have a baby anymore, why not just yank it all out! Well, he said that was definitely an option but he wanted to try this before we went that route esp. since I wouldn’t be able to do the surgery until next summer anyway. He told me that there would be break through bleeding but to me – break through bleeding is spotting – not passing clots (sorry TMI!) When I called them they said that it’s normal until your body gets used to the hormones. She said that things should be normal after this first pack. SO, do I just bleed for the next 6 weeks?!?! UGH – that stinks!!
OK – well, I’m off to bed so I can be nice and fresh for a new day with the kiddos at school!
See you later!
Missy
GatorGal 08-08-2006, 10:06 PM Heart--Here is the main URL for The Recovery Group, and there are all kinds of meetings for "overeaters." :)
http://www.therecoverygroup.org/
If you click on "recovery meetings" you will see various buttons for various meetings. I click on the "Christian ODAT" which stands for One Day At A Time. Or click on "The Recovery Group, 12 Step Loops" and you will find all kinds of information. The button for ODAT Loops offers you the opportunity to subscribe to a email list in the loop of your choice. The email loops are specifically for discussion strictly pertaining to OA, or specific needs re. the program. The Yellow Brick Road loop (under "The Discovery Loops" ) is more like our board here where there is talk about our lives in general, not limited to the OA journey. Possibly the most helpful one for someone "checking it out" is the OA Newcomers button that takes you to a very good intro. page where there is lots of information re. OA and whether one might be a compulsive overeater or food addict. Good luck.
I will have to say, for myself, that even though I am a Christian, it has been too easy to think that if I just tried hard enough I could succeed at losing weight and gaining a proper perspective on food. I did actually get down to my goal weight about 13 years ago, but as soon as I relaxed just a litttttle bit, zoom, the weight started creeping back on. I never wanted to "bother" God with such an insignificant thing as my eating, because surely he had more important things to do, and he was probably somewhat put out by my repeated failures to "eat right." It was easy to feel guilt over the tiniest slip. My perspective is changing and I have been having success, both mentally and physically through what I have learned in my OA experience. I know that there are face to face meetings in many cities, but doing this online is easier for me. Plus, the meetings are more in line with my schedule. The Christian meetings are 4 pm. and 10 pm. 7 days a week, and the regular anyone is invited meetings are every 3 hours around the clock!
Fruit--Welcome back. We never considered you "gone." Just in temporary hiatus. Here's wishing you the best of success. And congratulations again on the joy and fun you are having with your foster daughter. This is such a cute age.
fruitloupe 08-08-2006, 10:07 PM THIN: We were posting at the same time...ballet?!?! You go girl..sounds like great exercise! Keep up the great work!
Missy
fruitloupe 08-08-2006, 10:09 PM GATOR: Once again posting at the same time!! Thanks for the welcome back! Alexis is at a great age - she is very fun! I can't wait for you to see a picture of her - I'll have to get one to MONET asap!
ThinWithin225 08-08-2006, 10:28 PM Yes, ballet! I took for about 9-10yrs long, long ago. I quit after my first year of college. Then I got married, quit exercising and had two kids. The weight ballooned!:o This class is exclusively for teens and adults and is more "do the best you can do" not "be perfect". I thought I'd give it a try and see how it goes. Hopefully I'll be toning up and losing more weight at the same time. That can't be a bad thing!
Ellen 08-08-2006, 11:14 PM Hey everyone! I just got in from an Usborne book party. I love their books. They have tons of neat ones I used to use with my kids when I was homeschooling years ago. I wish I had some little kids to buy for... :)
After dealing with weird blood glucose levels all day, and being shaky and kind of disoriented, I feel much better tonight and my levels are back down to where they usually are. Whew...I was worried!
I am tired, and its time for bed, so I will post replies in the morning...
ThinWithin225 08-09-2006, 10:04 AM I didn't think I was sore this morning till we went down the stairs to leave. Then I really felt it in my legs!:yikes: I wore my pedometer to work today and I already have close to 2500 steps:running: . I wanted to see how many I was getting and hopefully push myself to increase it over time. dh and I plan to walk tonight if he gets home at a decent time. if not, it may just be Buddy and me.
Thunder- Hope the next few weeks go by smoothly. The kids and I have things for dinner that Daddy doesn't like when he is out of town.:p
Monet- Glad your levels are better and you feel better as well!
Fruit- I am a school nurse and started back to school last week. It's kind of nice to get back into a routine even though I sure enjoy my summers off!:beach:
Tech- Hope you enjoyed the park!
Gator-Hope the rest of your renovations go smoothly and efficiently!;)
Everyone else- Have a Great day!!:)
Ellen 08-09-2006, 01:05 PM There is a LOT of major stuff going on here. I will post more later when I have time, and share all about it. Just wanted to fly by and let you all know I was thinking about you all.
ThinWithin225 08-09-2006, 01:14 PM Monet- We'll be thinking of you in the meantime...!
OK, Major soreness setting in now, but it's all good! I have found that looking at myself in a wall full of mirrors does wonders for your motivation!!:dust: I also have clocked in almost 4500 steps today! Busy day!
Solly 08-09-2006, 02:05 PM Just a quick reply, Time for lunch, be back later.
Tech, you are lucky you held at one wt all summer. I would have gained 20 lbs. One thing off plan and the pounds add on.
Monet, Sorry you have stuff going on. Hope it settles. We are here when you need us. PM me, with your email addy. I have something I want to send you about microwaves.
Laurie, sorry about the problem with your DH. That could be a big part of your eating. Saying a prayer for you.
Thunder, what a nice surprise your DH coming in to see you. I bet he loves it. Men love stuff like that.
BOB, I have 2 bulging dics and 1 herniated and I guess something is pressing on the siatic nerve. An epidural should do the trick. I can hardly walk.
Thin, glad you lided the ballet class. Sounds like good exercise. Those jello legs will get stronger and the soreness with go away with time and work. I know it is hard for the kids with him gone so long, and you too.
Fruit, one day OP and posting  :carrot: I'm still praying for you. Surely that judge won't give her back to those parents. Do they even want to visit her? Sorry, no more periods for me. I know the mess you have with the endo, my DD has it too. I hate to think she will need more surgries and might prevent her from having kids.
KayeC 08-09-2006, 02:39 PM I'm so excited everyone! For the first time ever I found 100% whole wheat hamburger buns at the store.:carrot: :carrot: :carrot:
Now if I'm careful with the starchy carbs the rest of the day I'll always be able to have a burger on a bun with the rest of the crew.
Heart, sorry about the problems with DH. I'm sure it is stressful to the max!
Bob, I'm not a fan of football except I enjoy everyone elses enjoyment of it you know? Do you ever hear from Debbie? What is going on in her life?
Monet, share when and if you can. I'll be thinking of you.
As for me I'm having my sister in law and her two boys spend the night and then they'll catch a flight back to California tomorrow. I don't even have to cook as she said she would take us out!
Solly, Fruit, and everyone else hi.
KayeC
Solly 08-09-2006, 03:41 PM Now that I'm stuffed and sleepy....
Did not go to the gym last night. DH said it wasn't a good thing for my back. I said ok if we walk later. But it took over 2 hours at the grocery & $280 dollars later, and it was dark by the time we finished putting them away. Tonight I will try to go and do upper body wts.
I was awake at 4:00 with my leg and back. Ugh! Can't wait to get that shot.
That's all with me. Busy here so I had better go.Have a great evening.
Beth2374 08-09-2006, 09:54 PM I'm still here!! I've had computer problems since Friday and my AOL wouldn't let me sign on. I decided to try it again today and I'm on, but who knows for how long. I still haven't missed a day at Curves, but eating has been kind of lousy. Dave is in Atlanta again for school, and I always stress eat when he's not here. I don't sleep worth a crap either. I guess 12 years in the same bed with someone gets to be quite a habit. Thank Goodness we have free mobile to mobile.. LOLOL!!
The kids are still loving school... I go back to work Monday, and in a way I'm looking forward to it, but I know I"ll get the cold shoulder for being off for 9 weeks for this surgery... it's easy to blame the person who was off for them being shorthanded when it's really a management problem for not hiring enough people!! Maybe by Friday they'll forgive me!
Well, I'm gonna go before this thing messes up again!!! I"ll check in again tomorrow if it lets me online!
:grouphug:
fruitloupe 08-09-2006, 10:05 PM Hey!
Well, today wasn’t as wonderful at school – I guess they were just scared yesterday! It’s so hard to get those little ones in YOUR routine! Then at that age they still want to nap and pee all the time! They were very talkative today – so we had “the talk” and hopefully tomorrow will be better! It better be! I’m gonna start rewarding the hell out of the good kids that way the others will want to be good too. We’ll see!
THIN: I’m glad you found something you love to do that’s good exercise. My favorite is volleyball but obviously I can’t do that anymore – too fat! I would love to lose weight and play a league or something. When I was in high school – I was big time into athletics and I used to work out with weights all the time….oh the pain after the first few workouts! I couldn’t sit down to pee!!! Keep on steppin – sounds like you are making some tracks!!
MONET: Never heard of Usborne books – is it real popular? You’ve got me worried over here – are you feeling ok?
SOLLY: Make that 2 OP DAYS!! Whoop Whoop!! Hopefully, like I said, the judge sticks to his guns…after all….he’s the one that pressed for termination in the first place. The parents do have their 3 visits a month – they are at their house but they are supervised by the social worker. They just haven’t done much else. And – when Alexis goes there, she shows no emotion, makes no noises, etc. – she just sits and plays. The social worker was actually worried that something was wrong with her – but when she saw how she interacted at our house – she wasn’t worried a bit. I just think that she doesn’t know them and she’s uncomfortable there. As for the endo – mine came back every 2 or 3 years. So, hopefully your DD won’t have to suffer with it over and over like me – it is not fun! $280 at the grocery?!?! Oh my!
KAYEC: I can always find the hamburger buns but I usually just use sliced bread because we waste buns!
BETH: Glad to see you are still around. What kind of surgery did you have? What grade are the kids in now?
Well, I’m off to bed! Have a great evening and day tomorrow!
Missy
Ellen 08-10-2006, 12:17 AM I promised to let you all know what was going on.

Mother and baby are doing well.
fruitloupe 08-10-2006, 08:04 AM Congrats Monet!!!!!
ThinWithin225 08-10-2006, 09:16 AM :gift: :bb: CONGRATULATIONS Monet!! I'm sure you all are thrilled! Glad Mom and Babe are both well!
I am not as sore today as I was yesterday, but that could change as the day goes on. dh, Buddy and I went for a walk last night. I estimated it was about 1.5 miles then I cleaned the bathroom and that is a workout:lol: I ended up with over 14000 steps yesterday! I don't think I'll have that many today, but we'll see. I think my problem is going to be getting a lot of steps on the weekend. I may have to do some creative planning.:chin: I was back down within three pounds of my ticker this morning and I'm sure it is water weight, but I like it anyway!:p
Everyone have a great day!:)
Solly 08-10-2006, 09:47 AM Happy Thursday ladies,
Sort of quiet here today, boss is out of town. Got 45 minutes of wt training in last night and a 1/2 mile walk with the dog. Not a good walk, he stops to pee too much. I have a dr appt today so I should get home in time to get to the gym, before dinner and DH has to sub on his work's ball team. That will be interesting, he hasn't played in years. But they are in a "D" league and not very good, so he should be ok. Unless he gets hurt, heaven forbid.
Beth, management should have hired a temp or something while you were gone. Sure hope they treat you nice. Use the time DH is gone to work out or eat really, really good in lieu of stressing out. I know, easy for me to say. My DH used to go hunting for a week once a year, and I was a wreck the whole time. We do everything together, even the grocery.
Fruit, 2 days is great  now keep it going. I bet you whip those kiddies into shape in no time. The first few days are hard. Mine cried for a week at least.
Monet, how wonderful. He is such an angel. Looks like his grandma too. I am so jealous. I know you will love and spoil him rotten.
Thin, good job on the exercise. Yes, bathrooms are a workout. Wanna come clean mine?
Have a great day.
Ellen 08-10-2006, 11:03 AM I am trying to light a fire under James...we have a few errands to run that I have to go with him on, and he is dragging. I want to hurry up and get back up to the hospital! :)
SOLLY: I am sitting here laughing my head off! James and Laura decided Kaeleb looks like a yard gnome, and you said he looks like me! I found that funny. I am determined to spoil him, and hand him back to his parents. Ah, payback is sweet....
Fillise 08-10-2006, 11:14 AM GRANDMA!!!!!:cb: :bravo: :cp: :balloons:
Glad to hear everyone is doing well and I have to say, the Kaleb is a handsome little fellow.
Missy--great to see you back! I pop in every now and then and can tell you that your presence has been missed greatly.
Solly--crosing my fingers that DH doesn't hurt himself playing ball!!! Sound like you are doing great with the weight training and workouts.
Thin--14,000 is a lot of steps! WTG!
Beth--tell me about Curves, I'm serisouly thinking about it.
Gator--you are always so helpful. Are AU and UF playing this year? I'm remiss in that I have not yet memorized the schedule, but I seem to think that UF comes back to Auburn this fall or next. . .
And Speaking of Football--BOB--It's coming! The season is less than a month away. Sept 2 is kick-off on the Plains and I I have my tickets!
Thunder--I can't believe she is ready to start school either-they grow up sooooo fast!
Talitha--Hope you are holding up well and all the kiddies are behaving so you can heal! Thinking about you.
If I missed anyone--HELLO! I've got to get to work now. Have a great OP day!
Susan
heartmom 08-10-2006, 12:24 PM Hey, everyone. Man, I'm feeling kinda groggy today. I had enough sleep, so dunno. I got up at 5 and weighed. I'm down 5 from Monday but still 2 above my ticker weight and several away from my low. But I'll get there. I did my workout this AM and it was all I could "muster" to do it. I wanted to quit the entire time, but I made it thru. Hubby and I are doing okay at the moment. Here's my menu for the day:
Post-workout: scoop of whey protein and water(110 cals)
BF- 4 egg whites scrambled with spinach and 1 tsp mac. nut oil
Lunch- made a wrap- 1 whole grain LC tortilla filled with pepper jack cheese, turkey, tomato, onion, spinach, and cukes...sf yogurt
Snack- yogurt
Supper- 3 chicken legs, green beans(mac n cheese for them)
Monet- Congrats, Grandma! I thought he looked adorable, not like a yard gnome, lol.
thunderwoman62 08-10-2006, 12:48 PM Monet congrats grannnie!!!!!:woo: Hes so cute. That makes 2 handsome boys with in weeks of each other for the board. Lookout girls the boys are in town!!!:D
Everyone have a wonderful day!!!!!!:grouphug:
ThinWithin225 08-10-2006, 01:07 PM I have a quick question for you...I have a veggie quiche that I'm going to try this weekend, crustless of course.;) Do I just cut it into squares and refrigerate? how long will it keep?
Also, I added a mini-goal ticker. We'll see how it goes or if I'm able to stay on the wagon. :listen: Hear me BOB? We have reservations to go to PCB with my brother in law and his wife during Fall break. It should be fun!!
Ellen 08-10-2006, 02:28 PM THIN: I make quiche and freeze it in slices in ziplock baggies. The guys then pop it in the microwave to warm it up for breakfast. Works well...
ThinWithin225 08-10-2006, 02:59 PM Thanks!
techwife 08-10-2006, 05:26 PM Gramma: What a beautiful baby!! :cloud9: Very lucky baby to have YOU for a gramma!! I bet the cookies in YOUR cookie jar are gonna be top shelf!!
Solly: How'd the ball game go? Any insurance claims?
 Hello to everyone!!
We had story hour today and arts & crafts, so we were out from about 9-1. Kyle loves being around the kids. I heard from the rumor mill that the teacher's assistant posistion is requiring a certified teacher. Funny thing is that I heard this from one of the parents in Kyle's class and she said she heard it from the Kindergarden teacher. Funnier thing is that she also said the teacher said that there are 23 kids in the K class and 24 kids in the first grade class...but that they are splitting the first grade class (here's the funny part) because there are some kids that don't get along in first grade, so they want them to be separated. Here's the funnier part, that she heard this tidbit from the K teacher! This is the same teacher that, when I sent him an e-mail about what is done with a child that is far advanced from the rest of the class (such as in reading, like Kyle) , he wouldn't even answer, but forwarded the note directly to the principal...so why would he say something like this to one kid's mom? So...the kid parent politics is already starting to give me a rash. I told this same parent, jokingly, that I might homeschool Kyle so he's not just shoved off to the corner while the other kids catch up and she, very seriously, told me I should. She also gives me dirty looks when she hears me telling someone, like the librarian, aobut how well Kyle reads. I can see her roll her eyes and walk away. I hate this. Some people drive me nuts...and...homeschooling is ALWAYS an option.
Anyhow...I think I'm going to make a smoothie and sit in my lounge chair and take Kyle out to chalk up the sidewalk. I need to cool down (not temperature....attitude)
THE BIG ORANGE BABE 08-10-2006, 05:52 PM AFTERNOON EVERY BUDDY!!!
MONET!!!!! http://bestsmileys.com/family/10.gif CONGRATS!!!! That child doesn't stand a chance between you and Tom!!!
SUSAN.. 23 DAYS, 1 HOUR and 11MINUTES until IT'S FOOTBALL TIME.....IN....TENNESSEE!!!! I can't wait...sure do hope we have a better season than last year. It's actually the first year that I can't remember them going to a BOWL GAME!! Little story here: My Brother called last night to let me know that he and his Girlfriend had parted ways. When I asked why, he said he told her that FOOTBALL SEASON is getting ready to start and he wanted to fore warn her. She got mad (She's a WILDCAT fan!!) Guess she learned really quick that NOTHING comes between THE PAGES and THEIR TENNESSEE FOOTBALL!! Cathy's Baby is due on OCT 10th and he's already told her that "THERE ARE NO BABIES BORN ON GAME DAY!!" Then there is my Poor Cousin whose son got married one year on UT-UF gameday...His OWN BROTHER and MINE made their choice....They went to GAINESVILLE that year!!! PEOPLE JUST NEVER LEARN!!! SEC FOOTBALL IS A RELIGION!!!
How's your team looking? We start the season with CALIFORNIA...I don't know anything about them...do you?
MISSY...how y'all looking over there in the SWAMPLANDS???
GATOR??? How's things in THE SWAMP ??? Predictions?? I afraid to make any...we've already had four Players arrested, one of those permanantly off the team.
JACKIE??? How about THE KITTYS???
I have a buldging disc and terrible Sciatic Nerve problems. Hope the injection helps you...Mine sure have (knock on my wooden head)
MONET....We'll let you know when to YELL FOR THEM DAWGS!!!
BETH...Any advice on THE TIDE????
KAYE...I don't hear from Debbie any more. She just stopped all communication. I still think she lurks to see what we're doing. The only thing I do know is that she is moving to Hendersonville, NC when Lauren goes to college (she's a Sr this year). I guess that's still her plan.
Get ready cause the SEC GIRLS are getting REVVED UP for the season!!
THIN...I hear ya GIRLFRIEND Just let me know if I need to send the wagon to get you! I have a wonderful crustless quiche recipe that used to float around here on the board. I put meat in mine along with everything else. let me know if you want the recipe...
LAURIE...YUM...I love chicken...anyway you fix it...are you grilling yours or baking it?
I've got to start supper. Kate made pork hash from the tenderloin I cooked on Sunday...so I'll fix that for her and some cornbread. I don't know what I'm having...
BOB
GatorGal 08-10-2006, 06:17 PM Susan--Yes! The Gators play at Auburn, and we are happy to get the Tigers back on our schedule. That was always such a great game and good rivalry. The date is Oct. 14, and we have tickets, so we will be there. We are flying to Atlanta with friends and then staying at Callaway Gardens in one of their 2 bedroom cabins. Is your church selling parking places again? If so, reserve us one and send me directions on how to get there. When we parked there last time we got to see the cute downtown, which was the first time we were able to do so. Normally we parked quite a ways away and missed the good experience of seeing Auburn.
Congratulations, Monet.
Toni48 08-10-2006, 07:04 PM Woopie I'm finally back. My company left this morning and of course I'm really sad. My son will be leaving for Iraq in Oct. I'm hopeing to see him one last time in Sept. My DH and I will try and go on a four day week end. To say good bye. I enjoyed there two weeks here but need to get back OP. I got a new treadmill when they were here. My niece gave it to me and its only a year old. I just love and will start walking on it tomorrow. Yippee. So much good stuff is happening on this board. Its so good to see Fruitloupe, Thunderwoman, and Heart back. Yea for you Monet on a beautiful new grandbaby. Also good to see Fillise posting again. Be back in the morning....
ThinWithin225 08-10-2006, 08:45 PM Buddy and I went out for our walk, about 1.5 miles again. Today I only got about 9500 steps in. I think I will average what I get in a week and then try to increase from that as a starting point. This makes five days in a row I have either walked or danced!:belly: (Not a ballerina, but I love her!)
Bob- Send the recipe my way please!! Thanks!
Ellen 08-10-2006, 09:38 PM I feel like a slug! I did not get in a walk or water aerobics today. I did an upper body workout, but that is all. I ran errands, then went to the hospital to visit. Kaeleb has woken up a good bit and was rather fussy. I was so proud of Laura...she was so calm and patient with him. He seems hungry, but her milk is not in yet, so he gets mad. He is a big baby, so its understandable that he wants to EAT! It was wonderful to watch Justin calming him and carrying him around. It was sweet. I gather he is the chief diaper changer right now!
Tom is working in the yard with some sod he bought. He also got collard and mustard green seeds.
I fixed Mavarik steak for dinner, with fried okra and salad. The okra has produced a lot this year, and we are loving it! I think I may skip squash and cukes next year and just go with lots of tomatoes, okra and green beans.
TONI: Good to see you back! That is wonderful about the treadmill!
FILLISE:  We miss you when you are gone...I should have known that the football season starting would draw you back! haha!
THIN: I love that smilie too! Suzanne got it for one of the mods who belly dances and teaches classes in it. Its supposed to be great exercise! I am just too uncoordinated, and have TOO much belly!
TECH: I LOVED homeschooling my kids. I think it is good for the kids too. My kids got along with adults very well from early on. They are friends with my friends now. In fact, James is on the phone with one of my best friends right now....she is helping him with something, and I can hear him laughing. I have been waiting for the phone now for 30 minutes!
fruitloupe 08-10-2006, 10:11 PM Good Evening!
Well, today was a LITTLE better than yesterday. I had to give each group the lecture before we started. I still had one kid end up on an F in conduct and I had to call home. I left a message on an answering machine so I’m sure I’ll either see the mom or get a note tomorrow! Oh well!
My eating has been spectacular!! I’m so proud of myself! I just hope I can keep it up!
THIN: Glad to hear you aren’t quite as sore! I’m sure that’s a relief! 14000 steps is great! Keep up the great work!
SOLLY: Hey..a walk with the dog even though he stops to pee is better than no walk at all! You are really getting some serious exercise in girl! I will eventually start to ride my bike – but I have to get one first! I do have one little girl that cries every morning – at first you try to be understanding and comforting but by day 4 – it’s enough already!! HAHA! She’s starting to drive me nuts!
FILLISE: AWE…you are so sweet – you missed me?!?!?! I miss you too! I was so happy to see your post! I was hoping you were still around!
HEART: I hear ya on the groggy – I’ve been that way too! I know that mine is because I’ve been off all summer and now I have to work! So, I’m extra pooped out!! What brand of yogurt do you get?
TECH: I can so relate to your school stories – we have many like that! I have to say, as a teacher, it is very hard when you have a child that is so advanced but the teacher should make modifications for that child. It’s their job! But, it is difficult to reach everyone and unfortunately, the smart ones usually end up bored!
BOB: As for LSU – can you believe that I have no idea what’s going on with them! Terry hasn’t been talking much about them and that’s how I normally get my scoop. I guess with Alexis – our attention is somewhat diverted – well, mine is anyway!! Last year I don’t think I watched 1 game in it’s entirety. My life has changed for now that’s for sure!
TONI: I’m so sorry to hear that your son will be leaving for Iraq. I wish all of that would come to an end soon. We have a treadmill too – a friend gave it to us – a really nice big one. I’ve never even stepped foot on it!! HA! So, looks like I need to start back don’t ya think?
MONET: I’m so happy that everyone is doing well. What happens when you have a baby and your milk doesn’t come in – do they just give formula until it does? You know I’ve never given birth so I didn’t know about that – I just always thought the milk was there!! HA! Are you feeling better?
Well, I’m heading out…work is pooping me out! See y’all tomorrow! I'm also adding a mini goal ticker!!
Missy
Ellen 08-10-2006, 10:57 PM FRUIT: It usually takes a couple of days to start producing milk. Most of the time, it is not a problem. There is a fluid that is made called colostrum that is very good for the baby and helps with immunities and such that is produced before the milk. When the baby is as big as Kaeleb they can get hungry before there is milk. The nurses gave him formula last night, so today, he wants the easy gratification of the bottle instead of having to work at the breast. How many kids do you have in your class this year?
ThinWithin225 08-11-2006, 09:48 AM It's Friday!:carrot: and payday!:cheer: and it's raining!:encore: I don't think it could get much better! I may not get a walk in tonight, but I would much rather have the rain. We need it so badly. We have an exercise machine in our basement that we bought back in the late 80's before we even had kids. We use it occasionally. I need to clean out an area around it, put a radio down there and start using it regulary. It has "weights" that are actually like resistance bands on one end and a stepper on the other. I think I could really get a decent workout with it. I think I'm getting plenty of work on my legs with the walking and ballet, so I need to do some arm work on the machine.:lifter: If it is rainy this afternoon when I get off work, I'll go down and start clearing a place!
Have a great weekend everyone!
techwife 08-11-2006, 10:53 AM Just a quick question/complaint. I have four gigantic tomato plants. When I planted them in June, they already had buds on them. I'm thinkng...wow...I'm going to be rolling in beefsteaks in NO TIME!! Well, I have all of TWO tomatoes total on all the plants. Both are green...one is only about two inches in diameter. The plants, themselves, seem dark green, fuzzy, perky and in great condition. I'm fertilizing them about every three weeks. I don't remember having to wait this long last year for my maters. What the heck? Any ideas?
Solly 08-11-2006, 11:06 AM TGIF
Just got in from getting my injection. It really hurt going down my leg. But all is better now. Hope this one holds me for awhile.
Got a great lower body workout last night. The gym was almost empty. It was great.
The ballgame got rained out so it was nice to be able to stay home one night. After dinner, I gave myself and DH a full pedicure. :dizzy:
No big plans for the weekend. Tonight we are going to the Orphans Picnic. Probably the biggest picnic in the city. It isn't until Sat, but they have a preview night with only adults. The gambling booths and food will be open and they have a big local "old" band playing. So we are going to take a chair and go listen to them. Sunday we have to go to Lexington for my great nephews birthday. Saturday will probably be spent at a friend's pool.
Thin, we also have a wt machine in our basement. You can get a good workout on it. I used is regiously until we joined the gym. But on days the rest of the gang doesn't want to go, I use it and our :tread:. We got 2 days of rain too and we really need it. Our grass is like needles.
Monet, The girl that cuts my hair just had a baby and she told me that she drinks a beer a day to get the milk going. I have never heard that. Something about the malt in beer stimulates the milk. Glad the happy parents are adjusting so well. Justin is a trooper changing the diapers already.
Fruit, I bet those parents think, "not my child". Today's parents are so lacking in disciplining the kids. I don't know how teachers stand it. Luckily, your's are young ones. I am so proud of your eating. You can do this. We can do this. Let's do it together. Have a great OP weekend.
Toni, I hate to hear your son is leaving for Iraq. I will pray for his safety and quick return. I wish they all could come home soon. I know you are so proud of him. Tell him thanks for all he is doing for us. Glad to see you are excited about getting back on the :tread:
Gator, how is the house coming? Going to be finished on time. Just a week away! What time should I be there?
BOB, I can understand why your DB's girlfriend isn't "into" football since she is a Wildcat fan. Brooks keeps saying we are better this year. We will see. we get to open against Louisville at Louisville. Sure hope we pull off an upset. The injections usually do the job.Of course, it was better today when I got in there.
Tech, the game got rained out. He may play next week. That's a shame about the job it all the rumor is true. Maybe you should home school if you think he will be bored. But then you said he likes to be around other kids. Can they test him and move him up? No one around here has gotten many tomatoes. I guess it is the hot temps doing it. I'm not a grower, so I can't offer any help.
Heart, glad things are better with DH. Some days exercising takes all I have and others, it is a breeze. Maybe our bodies are trying to tell us something.
Thunder, Have a great weekend.
Susan, My DH, DD go to the gym with me so that makes it easier to get there. I love it once I am there. I try to make it 4 times a week and walk on the weekend.
Have a wonderful OP weekend.
heartmom 08-11-2006, 11:56 AM Morning. Had to be at work at 8 and work until at least 6:30. I hate these long days. Got up a little before 5 and did my workout. I weighed this AM expecting and hoping to see a better #...but nope. I've been so good, too. Not the first cheat and I've been exercising. Discouraging, but I know it will pass..it better, lol. We're eating out and I will be legal. But the only problem with that is the salt that restaurants use. The last 2 times I've ate out and was legal, I gained fluid anyway...which really sucks. Makes you feel like why am I trying to eat legal when I gain anyway for being good. BUT...I'm trying to change my way of thinking and tell myself that I'm still losing fat even when the scale may show my fluid retention. I feel "stronger" than I have in awhile with determination, so that's good. I just had my co-worker even give me a bag of M&M's(peanut and my ultimate fave!). I couldn't refuse her kindness, that would be rude so I said thank you and put them in my drawer. I will get them out and give to the kids this evening to split. Well, I don't have alot to say, just checking in. I hope everyone has a good weekend and stays OP.
Toni48 08-11-2006, 12:51 PM Woopie back OP.... I just got off the treadmill and now I need to eat something. I miss the kids but it sure was nice to get up to a peaceful house this morning. LOL. Not anything planned for the week end but later this afternoon we'll go grocery shopping. Sure do need some healthy food in here.
Thin- Good job with those steps. Keep it up gal....
Monet- I'll bet you're loving every minute with that darling Grandson... They can sure attach there selves to your heart fast..... The okra sounds so good. I don't know how to fix it unless I fry it so don't get any.
Fruit- Get on that treadmill!!! Its just calling your name....
Tech- I planted two tomato plants this year and they were big and beautiful but I think its been to hot here and they just won't produce....
Solly- Oh my gosh the injection sounds awful.... Hope you're feeling better..
heart- Have a great week end. Good going on not eating the M&M's....
Better go eat breakfast....
Ellen 08-11-2006, 01:17 PM Checking in! I had a lazy morning. Somewhat. I cleaned the kitchen and got the counters and table all nicely cleaned off. They are catchalls...everyone dumps stuff on them. I threw out some stuff and put some stuff away. Now to KEEP it that way! I changed the sheets today, and while I was doing it, I was getting crabbier and crabbier. Finally I started shaking so I sat down and checked my blood glucose level. NOT good! It was way down in the danger level of hypoglycemia. I had to take a glucose tablet, and that brought it up to very low normal. To compensate, I ate a carby lunch. It is so inconsistent lately! Too high, too low...no wonder I feel like crap!
Laura and Justin are supposed to be bringing Kaeleb home today. I am looking forward to having him here, where I can lug him around to my heart's content. I need to call and see how things are going today. I think they must do all the releases at the same time, because yesterday when I was leaving there were three or four new moms in wheelchairs either being wheeled out, or waiting by their rooms to be wheeled out. The parking garage too, was not attended and the gate was open so I did not have to pay. I was figuring they do that so the new parents don't have to pay for parking.
I need to go lay down for a little while. Hypoglycemia episodes wipe me out!
Talitha 08-11-2006, 03:33 PM WOW!! 5 pages!!
OUr internet went down at the beginning of the week. Something about the Wireless hub being broken. ANyway, I'm back. It may take me awhile to cathc up with all of you guys, though!!!
I've had a nice peaceful week at home with the kids. I'm having a ahrd time not munching out of boredom, though. People have been bringing great healthy meals, and we only had a desert once so far. I did et one brownin, but threw the rest away. I laughed thinking of Gator and putting water all over the brownies. That was too gross for me. I was happy with tossing them.
Solly 08-11-2006, 03:46 PM Just peaking in. I'm so excited at the number of pages and old friends back.
Heart, good job passing those M&M's. Have a good legal weekend.
Monet, how exciting to have the baby coming home today. Get some rest so you feel better and can love on him all night.
Toni, good job getting your exercise in. Back on track you go.
Talitha, How in the world can you find time to be bored. I figured you would be so busy with 3 little ones all day you wouldn't even have time to eat much less be bored. I could find a way to dig those brownies out of the garbage if I really wanted one. I like the water idea.
Our plans for tonight got cancelled due to rain  Guess we will find something else to do. At least now I can get a good dinner. I was afraid I was going to have to eat a fried fish sandwich, even though I have enough points I didn't want to eat poorly.
Have a great one!
Talitha 08-11-2006, 03:48 PM Ok, Just skimmed the pages and WELCOME KAELEB!!!!! What an awesome way to spell his name. I love it!
I got on the scale this morning. I'm officially back down to pre-pregnancy weight, 196. Not a great number, but there's no extra from baby. So now I jsut have to work on that. Lucas east so much more than my others did. I wonder if that is why I'm feelign so hungry all of the time. My willpower is NOT what it should be. I want to eat everything in sight!! Ahhhggggg......
He's 2 weeks old today. I can hardly believe it!! I've had so much energy this week. I've been able to get things organized in the house and back to a liveable state. It was pretty out of control there at the end.
Now I have to start getting books together to start school for Selah in a week. THen I'll officially be a homeschool mom. Wierd........
THE BIG ORANGE BABE 08-11-2006, 04:03 PM AFTERNOON EVERY BUDDY!!
I'm home a little early today and since it's Friday, I'M GOING TO TAKE ADVANTAGE!!! I guess I could start my laundry....NOT!!! OR..I could change the beds...NOT!! OR...I could just veg and enjoy the rest of the afternoon ;)
MONET...Where did the Kids get Kaeleb's name? It's such a different spelling and I really like it. Did you keep this info on THE QT from us or did I just miss the announcement? Which ever, He's a GREAT addition to your family and I know I can trust you to SPOIL HIM ROTTEN!!!!
JACKIE..glad you got the shot and that it helped. Nothing worse and there is no way to explain it to people who have never had the problem~! Sounds like a laid back weekend for y'all. I saw in the paper yesterday where the KY CENTER had to have his esophagus stretched surgically but is back to practice. He got chicked lodged past his windpipe and stuck in the gullet. He could breathe, but just couldn't get it up..no matter what they tried! Happened on the Training Table after practice the other day. As I said, ours are dropping at a fast rate, but unfortunately it's from arrests and not medical problems!! I know your DH is excited that the BIG GAME is in L'ville this year...so I'm sure he'll be dragging you over to the stadium...;)
TALITHA...Beth was on here yesterday and said the same thing about her AOL. Must have been nationwide, or at least regional since she's in Alabama.
Glad your week has been good with the Munchkins..squeeze all three for me~!
TONI...Glad you had a good time with your family.
Here are your MOVIE PICKS for the WEEKEND:
DON'T COME KNOCKING
THE LAST YEAR
INSIDE MAN
As usual, I'll let you know how they are.
Ok, I'm off for now..will check in a little later!

ThinWithin225 08-11-2006, 07:56 PM Hey! I am on dh new laptop he bought today and I'm trying to get used to it.:dizzy: He has had his eye on one for a while, but couldn't find just the right one. He had a class in Stone Mountain today and went by Frye's. He liked this one so there you go!:p
We had steaks tonight with a homemade mushroom sauce and broccoli casserole. I also had a baked potato and am totally stuffed now:ink: . I am thinking about going for a long walk now since I was not totally legal, but I'm not sure if I can walk or if I just need a push to roll down the street:lol3: !
Bob- Send me that recipe when you get a chance. I think I will search for one on the internet and see what I come up with!
fruitloupe 08-11-2006, 10:08 PM Hey friends!
Well, TGIF! That’s all I can say! I was so happy when the last kid left my room today I think I could have done a cart wheel! Today was ok – I’m just really tired. For supper tonight we had pizza. A local pizza place here makes a WW crust and they don’t use a lot of sauce (hardly any) so we got one from there. The crust wasn’t as good as I remember it to be…it was very thin – kinda like cardboard! I don’t mind a thin crust but this was WAY thin! I had 2 slices – 1 small, 1 medium sized. So, I didn’t do bad.
My sister is coming over to babysit for Alexis tomorrow. We had a sitter lined up last weekend so that Terry and I could go out to celebrate our anniversary and I ended up sick. So, we just paid her to come and help Terry. It’s our niece so she was more than happy to help. So, we are going tomorrow to meet friends at our favorite watering hole! I will allow myself to have 1 daiquiri and that’s it. I had to laugh when I got sick – I said you see…I had my blowout planned before I started my diet and I got sick – now I’m starting my diet and then I’m going to go out and blow it! Well, I won’t blow it – I worked to darn hard this week to do that! Then on Sunday we are going to a surprise party for 2 of our friends but I’ll be back on plan and I won’t cheat! PROMISE!
MONET: That’s how it works huh? I never knew! Laura and Justin live with you? If so – you will be spoiling that baby to pieces! I’m sure she will appreciate the help! Hope you are feeling better soon!
THIN: Clear out that space sista! We have some free weights upstairs that I can work with too once I start really getting in the groove! I’m just waiting for someone to shove me up the stairs!
TECH: I’m no expert on growing things but my dad grows tomatoes every year. His problem is the squirrels – they are ruining all of his plants. He set up rat traps on the trees to try to kill them – isn’t that horrible??! He tried to shoot them with a pellet gun but his shot wasn’t that great so he has resorted to the traps – I don’t think those work either. He mentioned something about them just getting stunned!! HAHA!
SOLLY: What’s the injection for again? I would like to be able to reach my feet comfortably to be able to give myself a pedicure – but – until then, I’ll just keep paying for them! I got a very nice note from the parent – apologizing for his behavior – can you believe it? I heard this parent is really “good” so hopefully we never have a difference in opinion! We’ll see! As for my OP weekend – I will have 1 daiquiri and that’s it. I used to have 4 so 1 is an improvement!! I haven’t had a drink in so long – 1 will probably do me in!
TALITHA: How in the world are you going to have time to homeschool with a new baby? Don’t you think it will be rough? What made you decide to do that? Just curious!
Well, I'm heading out for now! I'll try to check back in tomorrow - if not - I hope to see you Sunday!
Missy
Ellen 08-11-2006, 11:48 PM Hey everyone! Its been a long frustrating day. Laura, Justin and Kaeleb still are not home. The insurance company is refusing to pay for his heart monitor. The hospital claims there is a physician's order that he can not be discharged unless he HAS one, and Laura and Justin can't afford one without insurance. They are telling Laura she can go home, but she can't bring the baby. I am glad I am not there to hear her. She is not one you want to tick off! He has to have a monitor because SIDS runs in Justin's family. He had a brother who died of it, and he had to wear monitors when he was a baby. I can't believe the monitors are so expensive that the insurance would refuse to pay for it. It might save his life! So here it is, 10:45, and they have not left the hospital yet.
Ruth and Erik came for dinner, hoping to meet Kaeleb, and just left. They will come back tomorrow. They live 45 minutes away, so they really wanted to see him tonight.
I fixed enchiladas for dinner tonight. We had cheese dip, refried beans and guacamole too. I tried not to eat too much, but I am sure I over did it. I don't feel sick from my shot, which concerns me. I am willing to bet it did not work well, and my glucose levels are now too high. They are like a roller coaster- high and low then high again. It is kind of frustating.
I had planned to write replies, but now I am exhausted, so I will do that tomorrow. Hopefully by then the drama with the baby will have been solved and he will be home, safe, sound and monitored.
Talitha 08-12-2006, 11:05 AM Monet- I hear you on the crappy insurance. We pay about $700 a month for our insurance, but we now owe over $5000 for Lucas' birth that they don't cover. It's crap!! There go my dreams of a car that runs and has space for all of us.
I'm not eating so well. I made a big bowl od popcorn last night and ate it by myself. I took the kdis to a party down the street and I was so good not to put one thing in my mouth. I even only drank water. Then I come hoe and pig out on popcorn :(
Missy- I was homeschooled my whole life, and DH was homeschooled in middle and highschool. We've always known we wanted to homeschool our children. There are such amazing resources now and tons of local support groups and activities. I'm really excited about it. I'm actually starting a year early with Selah. She's only 3 1/2 but she can already read 2 letter words, count to 20 in English and Spanish,m knows tons of colors and shapes. The other day I was driving and she yelled out "Mama, the stop sign is an octagon!" How the heck did she get so smart? Anyway, I feel like it's worth a shot to get her going a year early, so that I have a bigger gap between ehr and the boys. It's be easier with a newborn than a toddler, right? Then, if later on she needs to back up a year it won't be a big deal. We may not get a full year ahead, but it'll be something.
ALright. It's 10 am and I haven't had breakfast. I'm going to go make a smoothie. I'll have a salad for lunch with chicken and boiled eggs. Then who knows what is for dinner. We have another birthday party to take the kids to tonight, but I'm not sure if I'm up to it or not. We'll see.
Toni48 08-12-2006, 12:52 PM Happy Saturday to all.... Just finished a breakfast of a green banana, two soft boiled eggs and a piece of ww toast. I need to get busy and clean the kitchen next but thought I would pop on here first. We're having stir fry tonight and I want to cut up my vegetables so it will be easier. Its kind of overcast here today. Other than that a lazy day is planned. Hope you're all enjoying your week end...
Ellen 08-12-2006, 02:40 PM Hello everyone! Laura, Justin and Kaeleb finally got home last night around midnight. I stayed up and fixed them some dinner, held the baby while the ate, and finally got in bed after 2:30. I slept until 7, or 8, then went back to sleep until about 9. I guess I slept ok, as I am not falling asleep sitting here.
Ruth and Erik came by this morning, saw the baby and picked up James to go out to Dim Sum with them. I hope they bring me back some bean curd rolls. :) I fixed breakfast for the new parents, and held the baby while they ate. He has been rather fussy off and on, but that is to be expected.
Not much going on here...its raining and the thunder is scaring the cat. He is such a wuss! We need the rain, but I am hoping it ends this afternoon so I can get some exercise in the pool.
I hope everyone is doing well.
TALITHA: That is outrageous about your insurance! I really think the whole problem is greed on the part of insurance companies. Give my sweetie Selah a hug and kiss from me. Jacob too. I don't want to leave Lucas out, but he has not met me yet!
TONI: You are doing great with your treadmilling! Yay! I love making stir fries. So healthy and fast! What do you put in yours? I love simple ones, like beef and broccoli, or beef and asparagus.
FRUIT: Happy Anniversary, a bit late! I hope you have fun. Enjoy your weekend! You are so awesome to teach those little ones. It takes a ton of patience to get them 'trained' to the classroom. :)
THIN: I would love a laptop! Watch those baked potatoes! :nono:
To everyone I missed, Hello!
ThinWithin225 08-12-2006, 04:02 PM I got part of my basement cleaned out and it looks so good! Now for the other 2/3 or so... Maybe next weekend I will tackle a little more. :D
Talitha and Monet-I hear you on the insurance deal. I just got a statement this morning for lipids that the kids had drawn a couple of weeks ago. They were both done at the same lab, same time. They say they will pay for Sean, but not Rachel. Go figure? I will call them on Monday and try to find out what is going on. I also am still sorting out problems with Sean's surgery and at least I have help from the ENT/allergist for this one. Insurance needed them to prove that parts of the surgery were medically necessary and not just cosmetic. Is it cosmetic to be able to breathe?:dizzy:
Every one else-Hello:hug: Have a great weekend!
Talitha 08-12-2006, 06:53 PM You're not going to believe all of the CRAP I've eaten today!!! I'm so mad at myself, but I'm still sitting here and feel sooo hungry!!!!
Breakfast- FIber shake and 1/2 a WW Banana Nut Muffin (it was pretty small)
Snack- 1/2 a banana, 2 squares 75% organic chocolate
Lunch- Personal size frozen pizza, an apple
Snack- Popcorn, 2 more squares of chocolate
Snack- 1 Peach, 3 Newman-O's Ginger cookies
It's only 6pm and I'm still hungry!! i've eaten crap all day. Wait, somewhere in there I ate a clementine, too. I'm going to eat a salad for dinner, like I should have had for lunch. I'm going to make scrambled eggs with spinach and goatcheese for the kids, so I'll have a little of that for protein. And I definitely need some detox tea. I have got to get control or what I'm eating!! This baby is breastfeeding liek a hoss, but I need to eat healthy food to make up for it, not cookies and chocolate. And all of that fruit with no veggies, ugh...
Ok, rant over...
Monet- GLad they got home ok!!
Ellen 08-12-2006, 10:27 PM TALITHA: If you are not eating enough to heal and produce milk, you are going to binge. EAT! Eat good stuff and plenty of it. Do NOT worry about limiting your portions just now. You need nutrients very much right now. The only crap I saw on that menu was the cookies, and at least they were better crap than Chips Ahoy! The chocolate was legal, and the popcorn is iffy..the pizza was probably white flour, but still not terrible for a woman who just gave birth and is breastfeeding. Don't beat yourself up!
I need to go finish up dinner and serve it. We went to the Mall of Georgia tonight, and Tom got some shoes for work. We stopped at the store and the liquor store and ran into a few young guys from church. So dinner is late..and everyone is hungry.
THE BIG ORANGE BABE 08-13-2006, 01:45 PM AFTERNOON EVERY BUDDY!!
It's a HOT ONE here on the GULF COAST OF FLA!! No breeze, but a few clouds moving in and we can only hope for some rain!
Just got in from the grocery..just needed veggies today..I'm going to throw a beef roast with all the trimmings in the oven for supper. I'll throw together some slaw and that will be it..
OK THIN..Here is the recipe!
CRUSTLESS SPINACH QUICHE
3oz 1/3 less FAT PHILLY CREAM CHEESE, softened
1 C milk
2 large eggs
1 carton egg beaters (equal to 2 eggs)
2 C 50% less fat shredded chedder
1 10oz pkg frozen spinach (chopped) thawed and squeezed
1 C frozen chopped broccoli, thawed and squeeze that too!
1/2 small onion, chopped
5 fresh mushrooms, sliced thin
1/4 tsp pepper
1/2 tsp salt
IN MIXING BOWL, BEAT CREAM CHEESE. ADD MILK, EGGS AND EGG SUB, SALT AND PEPPER. BEAT UNTIL SMOOTH. STIR IN REMAINING INGREDIENTS. TRANSFER TO A 10IN QUICHE PAN COATED WITH NONSTICK COOKING SPRAY (A PIE DISH IS FINE)
BAKE 350 DEGREES FOR 45-50 MINUTES OR UNTIL A KNIFE INSERTED NEAR THE CENTER COMES OUT PRETTY CLEAN. SERVES 8
I pretty much follow this recipe for the base of my quiche. I sometimes add whatever I can find in the fridge to throw in it including sausage or bacon...or whatever meat you have available. I also double the recipe and use a 9x13 pan to bake in...cut into squares freeze and you've got breakfast for the week!
I'm off to get some things done...
BOB
Toni48 08-13-2006, 03:10 PM Good afternoon... I've spent most of the week end sleeping. Guess my body is resting from all the company. I finally made myself get up! Had a wonderful sandwich for lunch of avocado, turkey and tomato. It was so filling and yummy.
Monet- I'm not very good at cooking stir fry but the one I made last night was steak, broccli, snow peas, green onions, ginger, garlic and bell pepper. It was so good and we really enjoyed it. Wish I was better at it.
Thin- Oh my gosh cleaning the basement! BIG JOB!
Talitha- I'm sure things will settle down soon. You'll get back to eating right soon.
Bob- That recipe looks so yummy.....
Better finish up here...
