1. What's your top weight, current weight and target?
My top weight was 150. I'm currently at about 124. My target is 115 or a flat stomach, whichever comes first.

2. How tall are you?
5 feet, 3 inches.

3. What's your family situation?
Not married but in a long-term relationship (going on 11 years). We've lived together for about six years. No plans to get married and no kids.

4. Where do you live?
Fremont, CA

5. One GOOD book.
Animal Dreams by Barbara Kingsolver. Also the entire Nero Wolfe/Archie Goodwin series by Rex Stout. Also Pride and Prejudice by Jane Austen. Also California Rush by Shirwood Kiraly. Sorry, I can't name just one; I love to read.

6. One GOOD song.
Guitar Town by Steve Earle

7. One GOOD TV show.
Lost

8. One awesome food you don't want to live without.
Peanut butter! I don't know why. Before I started this diet, I never ate peanut butter. Now I crave it. I eat a peanut butter and jelly sandwich for lunch almost every day (I measure out 1 tbsp and use low calorie, multigrain bread-the whole sandwich is 290 calories).

9. One weightloss lie you've heard.
Every ad for every diet product that I've ever seen, particularly the ones that feature "after" pictures in bathing suits. There's no way those women look like that without a lot of airbrushing and/or surgery.

10. The best tip you've received with regard to long lasting slimness.
To count calories. I was really resistant to the idea at first (I was hoping that exercise alone would be enough; I didn't want to change my eating habits). But restricting my calories has really worked. It also hasn't been as hard as I thought. There are some foods I've had to give up (cheese, desserts, sugary breakfast cereals :( ) but overall I don't feel deprived :goodvibes. I found a number of low calories foods that I really like and I enjoy looking for new recipes that fit into my calorie plan. I feel like this is something I can continue doing (for the rest of my life--I hope! The idea of maintenance is very scary! ).

1. What's your top weight, current weight and target?

I quit weighing myself in a fit of denial. I know I weighed at least 195, so possibly 200+. I'm kind of bummed about it now, because I don't know how much weight I really lost! This morning, I weighed 127.5. I currently bounce around between 126 and 130. Staying under 130 is my target, that's my "red light warning level" weight!

2. How tall are you?

I am 5'7"

Currently living alone.

4. Where do you live?

8. One awesome food you don't want to live without.

Natural peanut butter.

9. One weightloss lie you've heard.

If you can cut some calories to lose some weight, cut MORE calories to lose MORE weight. That thought pretty much helped me "diet" my way to 200 lbs.

10. The best tip you've received with regard to long lasting slimness.

Develop an eating & exercise plan that you can stick into your life daily, & push through the difficulty long enough & it will become habit. Still not easy, but certainly easier. Eventually. Eating smart & exercise is as important as brushing your teeth & taking a shower...you wouldn't skip those things because you "just don't want to" would you? No, it doesn't even cross your mind, that is because you have been doing it over & over for years. Do the same thing with smart eating & exercise. Start now.

Oh gosh, so many. Perhaps: don't bother, you're just destined to be fat -- it's in your genes (perhaps a lie I've told myself more than one others have told me).

10. The best tip you've received with regard to long lasting slimness.
Keep temptation foods out of the house. If you take something out of the pantry/fridge and you're afraid of bingeing, take a reasonable amount and quick throw the rest away. If you're at a restaurant, you've eaten enough and you know you should stop, pour too much hot sauce or an unappetizing amount of salt on the rest. Don't play the torture/will power/"I can control myself, really" game. Just get rid of it.

Well, I'm not sure about this one...I've heard people in my WW group insisting that diet sodas and diet sweets are the way to go, and maybe it works for them, but diet/artificially sweetened-anything doesn't work for me. So maybe that's a weight-loss lie, for me? I'm not really sure.

10. The best tip you've received with regard to long lasting slimness.
My husband (who is very supportive) always tells me when I get disappointed that my weight loss in any given week may be as low as 1/10 of a pound..."the longer it takes to lose it, the longer it stays off." I don't know how he knows that, but I believe him. And it makes me feel good about my tiny weekly weigh-losses. :)

6. One GOOD song.
I'm very homesick for my boyfriend, so the one song I cannot get enough of recently is "World Spins Madly On" by The Weepies.

"I let the day go by. I always say goodbye. I watch the stars from my window sill. The whole world is moving, and I'm standing still......I woke up and wished that I was dead. With an aching in my head. I lay motionless in bed. The night is here. The day is gone. And the world spins madly on..."

It just reminds me that the worlds going to go on whether I'm with it or not. And laying in bed all day crying isn't going to make the countdown go by any faster or slower. It's a kick in the butt to get up and get to the gym, which always makes me feel better.

I LOVE Grey's Anatomy and Sex and the City!

8. One awesome food you don't want to live without.
Cereal. I'm totally with Spoz on kicking the cereal habit. I always have a bowl before bed (habit from those days of working three jobs, with only enough time to eat and nap before heading back to work) and I'm afraid it's going to be the end of me.

I guess if you're constipated or overeat all the time it's worth drinking that nasty crap, but most of us were terrified of food and hardly ate anything besides grapes and water anyway, so there was nothing to "cleanse" and I never lost the 20 pounds it promised to make me drop. Didn't stop me from doing it 7 times a year.

Hi, I'm a new member, 51 years old. I've got an 8 year old son and since my husband is a bit older and had kids before, I'm delighted to also be a new grandmother.

My father (who raised me) is a weight obsessive and frankly its a wonder I've only felt moderately weight challenged. I could easilly have ended up with a major eating disorder given how he views weight. Instead I've always been about 10 pounds (make that closer to 20 pounds since childbirth at 42) overweight.

I don't eat anything that walked on the earth. Fine with eggs and fish.

I'm working the Beck program, together with a eliminating bread, pasta, alcahol and deserts, and portion control to try to get and keep it off. At 5'5" my post pregnancy high is 165, and I'm currently 159 (on the way down). I've lost a few pounds in the last 3 weeks of reading the book and working my own excercise up from 20 minutes 3-4 days a week to 45 minutes 5 x a week (elyptical trainer and or walking). I'm off for a week of family camp, with daily yoga for dear husband and myself.

I'm an avid reader and given my choice would simply sit on my butt all my waking hours reading quality fiction. But I do feel better when I move more.

After lurking forever I'm going to try to be active here, this site has helped me so much!

1. 165/135/120
I went from 104 to 165 while pregnant with my firstborn and never have gone below 135 since, except for about a month during which I was breastfeeding and pregnant (little did I know) at the same time. A very exhausting way to drop weight!
2. 5'4"
3. Married mom to two teenagers, house full of animals, run a business from home.
4. In beautiful Peachtree City, GA USA
5 This summer my daughter and I read all of the 'Twilight' series of books, they were great light summer fun books about a dreamy vampire who falls in love with a regular girl.
6. My most recent favorite new song is by Mika, 'Love Today'. For the full effect watch the video on youtube, it's bouncy and fun to walk to.
7. Our cable just got cut off and I won't pay to restore it until I can get digital installed. No big deal but I do miss TV! I'm waiting for Battlestar Galactica to start again, Lost is great, I just got a box set of a show from the BBC called Spaced that's really funny if you get a chance to watch it, it has all the Shaun of the Dead guys in it.
8 My favorite food is my downfall - bread. Not bagged sliced bread. No, I love freshly baked no-knead bread, baguettes, breakfast bread with raisins and nuts, banana bread or cinnamon rolls, garlic bread... the list goes on and I'm good at baking them all, so I have had to stop for a while!
9 The biggest lie? Any of those stupid after pictures in magazines, on tv etc.
10. The best tip I have realized is that it takes at least a week for something like exercise to become a habit, but missing just one or two days breaks it. So even if you're sick try to at least get on the treadmill at a low setting for 10 minutes, just to not get out of the habit.
