Hello Mamabear!! Nice to see ya again!
Welcome Stillhopeful!! Glad to have ya! ;)
Basically, this thread is a place for you to check in, gain support, and stay motivated!! On our last thread, we would all post our progress on sunday of every week.:goodscale
You can post everyday or every week if you want....or WHENEVER you want! You can set "mini goals" for yourself for each month, you can post how you are feeling..if u are staying on track or not (don't worry, there will always be someone to give ya a nice swift kick to get ya going again!), you can post your accomplishments....anything! Or just stay in with the convo that usually goes on w/in these challenges!
There's no right or wrong way to do a challenge. Just jump right in!!
I lost 11lbs from our last challenge "30lbs by May"...didn't quite make it to the challenge goal, but that's alright...I'm gonna keep on trucking!! :carrot:
Does anyone have anything else to add to help Hopeful??
My goals for this challenge:
Get back on track again!!! Stop being lazy!
Drink more water, try to get up to 2 34oz bottles a day
walk at least 4x a week
Get back to the gym in the mornings
Remember to take my vitamins

I'm just starting out, and did my first weigh-in yesterday at 162. If I can lose 30 by the end of September I'll have a good chance of being in shape by southern-hemisphere summer...
I've been eating really well this last week, but my challenge for this week will be to stop making excuses and do some exercise!

My motivation to loose 30 by Sept..
Well I really wanna loose like 45 by Nov, so when I saw this challenge it fit really well:)
But my motivations are, I am a tribal belly dance instructor, I think all body shapes are beautiful and conductive to belly dance and to be honest I have always been a thick , chubby, curvy girl, when I was younger I hated it and really struggled with it, but as I got older, got married , had kids, became more spiritual and hung out with larger but very happy and spiritual people I cared about my weight less and less.
Then I got into more Yoga to help with my belly dance and my opinions on health changed a bit from that, I went totally vegan, I do not look down on larger people what so ever and I still think curves are beautiful but from reading about calorie poisoning and toxic fat and things like that, my attitude changed about my own personal body, I do not judge others, everyone has their own path and has the right to their own peace with their body, but I became unpeaceful with mine is the best way to say it, well with being larger . So I was already starting to really want to make a change, On June 1st I choose to go mostly raw vegan , this came from doing alot of research and alot of meditation, I smoke cigs and tried to quit last summer when I was heavily into Yoga, I did quit for 3 months and was totally unable to loose weight no matter what I did. Alot of people might judge me on this but I will be honest it is the reason I started smoking again. Or well the biggest reason, so my plan and motivation is now, I love living raw, love yoga, love being healthy, love being a thinner dancer, I want all those things , but the smoking is not condusive to any of them, I really want to quit, BUT I want the weight off this time first. I dont want to fight both battles at once. So I set a quit date of Nov 1st, I want to have all my excess fat off by then, and maybe even a few lbs extra gone so that way if I gain just a lil bit it wont be a huge deal.
And I have some really big belly dance events in Sept and Oct I would like to be thinner for.
And its part of a over all plan for next year, I figure, loose all this weight by late fall, quit smoking, get my skin looking beautious :) , get my body detoxed all winter and come out next spring to the major dance events and parties and ect all transformed
A bit like a caterpillar/butterfly thing you know?
:)
So thats my story:)
I would love to hear others motivations and hopes and dreams!

GGG my motivation hmmm boy i never thought of it really i guess it's those jeans i bought last year that are still hanging in my closet with brand new tags i hadnet relized how much wieght i had gained untill that day i got home and rushed to try them on and they got to the bootom of my thighs and that was it i really dont buy clothes very often for myself so i had no clue untill that moment i went into a really deep depression at first now i snapped myself out of it and i am ready to get r done.....LOL

I have lotsa things that are my motivation - I think the thing that topped it off was that I can't fit into a uniform that my company is ordering for an event, so I had to get something that looked similar in my size...the only girl that doesn't match everyone else... :(
Goal: Getting into misses sizes so I can order anything from any catalog / store if I want it...not having to search out the shirts that come in plus sizes or stores that carry plus sizes is going to be great. Target has the BEST clothing section that takes up 3/4 of the side of the store, but the plus size dept is like 5 fixtures :/

Wow....alot of new ppl!! I'm having a hard time keeping track of who's who!!
Anyway....my motivation.....hmmmm....:chin:
I guess it all started at Christmas time at my company Christmas party....My company paid for all of us to go to Mohegan Sun Casino in CT....we had dinner and everyone got rooms (Good times!). The following week, I got the pictures back from the event and I was mortified!! I haven't ever seen myself look so big! My whole body just looked swollen to me. Needless to say, I haven't been able to make myself wear that outfit again....
Ever since then...I said that was it!
I started my new lifestyle for New Years and I did really well at first. I quit drinking for 6 weeks, excercised almost everyday (sometimes twice a day), and most of all I was excited about it! I felt fabulous! I ended up loosing 11lbs!! Life was good! But unfortunately, I've become lazy again. Back to my partying ways again too. I haven't gained anything back besides maybe a lb or 2 here n there, I usually hover around 150 now...which is fine by me b/c I started at 161! But I don't feel as great as I did when I first started. And I'm ready to see that scale moving down again.
My motivation is that damn picture! I keep it on my desk at work so I have to see it everyday! I will NEVER let myself look like that again! And I have alot of old sizes in my closet ranging from 2-7...I will be happy w/a 6!!! I want to be able to get into an old pair of jeans from High School and feel the satisfaction of being able to get them over my butt and zip them up again! :D
....That's my story!

I'm transferring schools in September so that's a huge motivator for me. In reality I've been avoiding doing this for far too long. I'm starting out small, can't afford a gym membership right now, so it's all walking, all the time. I walk about 45 minutes per day, sometimes more. I have a pool in my building so I'd love to get some swimming in but working and unseasonably cool weather have prevented that thus far.

06-16-2006, 10:43 AM
Didn't get to work out last night because I had an event to go to. They had a barbecue spread out - stayed away from the chips, cookies, baked beans and had a hamburger bun with about 1/4 cup of pork and 2 tbsp of coleslaw on it. I was starving when I got home so I nuked some edemame to eat. I thought for sure I had blown the calories for the day, but when I just entered them in fitday, I had only eaten 1000 calories for the day!
I can feel a little difference in my pants too. I have only lost 2 lbs, so I don't think I should be feeling it yet, but I do. :)

dearmilli-One of the resons I am losing weight to is because I teach Special Education. Next year I am going to be teaching students who are emotionally disturbed and I will have to be using restraints and moving them to time out. It will be som much easier is I am at a healthy weight. It is also one of the main reasons I work out. You wouldn't believe how hard it is to carry a squirming kid.

Wow! Good work with the dress GGG! And everyone else who's lost some pounds this week!
I just weighed in and I'm down 5 pounds from last week. I know a lot of it's gotta be water weight etc, probably a result of my actually starting to drink some water this week and thus convincing my body to let go of what it was holding onto... Or however it works. But still, yay! A little bit of that weight MUST have come off my butt, right? Last year's jeans, here I come...
(I just LOVE how many of us have various items of clothing as our motivation...)

OK I have thought about this and here is my motivation. I am trying to make sure that I am healthy to be able to play with my kids the way I want to. I am coaching my dd's softball team and don't want to look gross doing it. I don't want to be the typical fat mom! I want to be the wow look at her mom. I have some selfish reasons for this and some health reasons. Heart problems run in my family and I honestly want to be healthy! I don't want to be eating things and have people look at me like I shouldn't eat say cake or ice cream without feeling like since I am fat I shouldn't eat that!
Now for wi this week. I am down 3.8! I got my 10% key chain from WW!! WOOO HOOO!!

mamabear272
06-19-2006, 05:15 PM
Piper I don't let my non-dieting friends influence me. I just order they way I should and to heck with them! If they try to get me to eat something I shouldn't I just say no thank you. Those 3 words will become your best friend! Learn to use them. And know that you are not being rude but if they insist after you tell them no that they ARE being rude! You have to take care of yourself cause no one is going to do it for you!

I'm new to this site and want to take part in this 30 by September challenge. I've reached the point that I don't recognize me anymore. I have a pretty great life except for this big weight issue, which at the moment has me so down in the dumps. The only other time I was this heavy I was about to give birth to my daughter. I'm always looking for the diet or book that is gonna inspire me and I think it is time to realize that it's been here within me all along, but I have such a hard time staying positive. I think being part of this challenge will be the kick in pants I need. Thanks

Nirvanagurl, any advice for quitting smoking during that time of the month? I've tried to quit a few times and every time as soon as the period hits I go back. I get so moody and irritable that smoking is pretty much the only thing keeping me from snapping on everyone during that time.
Welcome to all the newcomers, here's to a fantastic week for everyone.

welcome everyone!
And ice princess..I quit right after it was already umm *going on * this month..near the end of the whole shabang there..so we will see how it goes next month during pms..I am NOT looking forward to it..not one friggin bit..
I dont even have pms right now and I am in hell..lol
Last summer I had quit for 3 months and made it thru pms and all but as I remember it was not easy by any means and I was always the weakest then too
the one thing that seems to really be helping me this time, and I dont know if its everywhere yet, but they sell this stuff called NIC water at the gas station by my house, and its water with nicotine in it..
yes I know..its bizzare..and it has a bit of a funky taste, but its actually got a smokey taste and the nic enters your blood stream fast and that really for me seems to be really really helping this time around..
bigtime..
ok gotta post my exciting news now..I just weighed in..

I am so excited, I weighed in a few days ago on Sat and hadnt gained or lost , but I was so scared because I had quit smoking and my period had been going on, so now a few days into all of it I weighed in again , with my eyes half shut ready to see this major weight gain and noooooo...I LOST 2 LBS! WHOO HOOO! I hadnt gained! my god I could sooo do a fricken happy dance..LOL
that was soo encouraging because I was sooo scared it had gone up...from quitting smoking..
ahhhh I am at peace now..lmao

Okay. Here I am and I want to eat a candy bar. I really need to do something good for myself. I am not hungry, just sleepy. Anyway, I came across this post and decided that I will join you. I think that I can pull off 30 pounds by September 30th. That would be so nice!
I have not really set a goal date to loose weight. I have just been letting it fall off as it may. But this gives me an actual deadline to work toward. I also would like to be down quit a bit when the back to school sales hit in October! Wow! Would I ever like to be back into my old size 6!!!!!
I am already forgetting about that candy bar! I would really like to slip into my favorite Levi's 550's and look at the tag and see a size 6! Anyway, I would have to be down more that 30 pounds for that but at 160 I know that I could get into a 10! I would love that too...
I think that I'll go walk and daydream a while!!!

Ok....so I was away on vaca for like 5 days and had ALOT of reading to catch up on....soooo many posts while I was away!! WOW!!
1st...:welcome: to all the new people out there!! It's great to have sooo many people joining our challange (sorry, too many of you to name everyone)!!
2nd....Congrats to all of you who saw great results this week!! (sorry once again, too many of you to name everyone, but that's the AWESOME part-so many of you doing so well!) :goodscale
3rd....I stunk this week!!
I'm with some of you that fell off the wagon!! I guess I can't say "I fell off", b/c I kinda knew that I would let loose while I was on vaca, but...I'm not too happy about some of the choices I made now that I look back on it! Damn!
On the bright side, I did do a 2hr hike up a mountain (not sure how many miles it was, probably around 4) and I sweat my butt off!! Plus, the following day, we went for an additional hike (probably around 2 miles, maybe), so I did get some excercise in...not enough though. I ate so much crap, I did gain a few lbs...argh!! Back to walking 4 miles a day next week, and my plan is to go grocery shopping tomorrow after work to re-stock up on all the good stuff I should be eating!! VACA is OVER!!!

Hello everyone! I am going to work very hard today. Last day of Bible school and I have this horrible crick in my neck that is keeping me up at night. Other than that, I am doing fantastic.
I am also doing the 21 day challenge that Arabell started. It is on another thread and I think that it will help me track my habits better. I will keep repeating it until I am used to everything. Mainly getting enough water and not tanking up on all of my coffee. I have not had any trouble with food lately because of all of the meds that I am taking for my sore neck muscles. I can tell that I am loosing weight (no complaints ther) but I really don't want to be ill to loose weight. This is painful!
Anyway, My main goal today is to get at least 64 ounces of water in and 30 minutes of exercise. Wish me well!
Have a Great Day!

Guess ill add my update since i havent since i joined the Challenge.
Last week i stayed the same not happy the scale didnt go down but happy it didnt go up, Im sure most of you understand that
This week i have been moving alot more walked a few times but my down fall has been pretzels and bloat up from the salt. Then Yesterday we went to the chinese buffet for lunch ( son was asking to go and it was close to where we were otherwise i never would go the day before a weigh in ) in addition to the sodum from pretzels i woke up today and hurt from being so swollen :( I was going to wait till tomorrow to hit the scale but felt guilty and to my surprise if moved and went down a pound yay:carrot: Now to try to drink more water this week and move those are my biggest problems. Oh and i found myself picking yesterday I wasnt to happy with me that was the first time i was so bad as far as picking
oops sorry i wrote a book was only going to give a short update.
Keep up the good work all

thank you for the encouragement! I have to back off doing raw just a little bit right now, I am having some bad dental issues, I have gum disease and a impacted wisdom tooth, I can barely chew anything right now and dont get in for a dentist apt till Friday, so this week is going to suck. ON a postive note quitting smoking is slowly , very slowly getting easier, of course right as I typed that suddenly I craved one..lol But the cravings seem to be hitting farther apart and lasting slightly less now, which helps alot!
But I did weigh in today and still no gaining, I am the same as I was in my last post, but no gaining so thats good!
Hope everyone is having a good weekend! Stay Strong! Remember Septemeber! :) :)

Nirvanagurl I can so relate I have a root canal on friday. Have you tried blended salads yet? they are really good and unlike juiceing you retain the nutrians and fiber. for exmple an ornge a pint of blue berries a banana and 8 oz of spinich use a celery stick or carot to pack it into the blender it will be a little strange in color but oh so good.

Well it's weigh in day and I'm up 1.3 pounds. :(. I think part of my problem is I haven't started any exercise program at all, except for my sedate job and some house work. I haven't been drinking the water I should either the past couple of day. Then, even though I'm beyone the TOM stage of life, I can tell I'm carrying fluid in my legs again. Didn't do that when I was drinking more. So.... back to the water and tonight I've got to start with some exercise. Hope everyone had better results than I!

hi all sorry i did not check in over the weekend it is hard for me to find computer time on the weekendSaturday was good we took the daughter to the movies (it is nice to have a 16 year old and she still wants to do something's like go to movies with mom and dad) :D and saw Click (very good movie made you think) which is something different for Adam Sandler LOL . After the movie we went to lunch at Denny's I made a poor choice I had the Spicy Buffalo Chicken Melt [w/O French Fries/substitute/condiments] (880 cal/47 G fat/3 G fiber/70 G carbs) 21 pts and of course I had the French Fries: unsalted [5 oz] (423 cal/20 G fat/5 G fiber/57 G carbs) 9 (9.5) and of course I had the buttered popcorn at the movies Popcorn, 4 cups (220 cal/12 G fat/25 G carbs) 5.5 :flame: (points from dottie's ) but we had a real good time and sometimes that is more important then if the scale is up on Tuesday .
Sunday was a day of not doing much (again that does not happen often) it rained on and off all day long and it poured when I was cooking on the grill (of course ) I got socked LOL but boy was the grilled London broil good well worth getting wet for . I am in the area that has been getting all of the rain this weekend we have been lucky because we did not get the rain that they were calling for on Saturday but we got hit yesterday and at 9:30 last night the power went out unfortunately I live in a basement apartment and we have very few windows and the one in are bedroom has an air conditioner in it so there was no air moving with out power (UGH) :censored:it can get really hot .........the power came back on at 1:30 and DH has to get up at 4 to go to work so that does not leave much time for good sleep so that was my weekend how was everyone else's

Okay I don't feel so bad now. I know that I am not perfect.
I did not have a great weekend. I gave into the stress of bible school and ate a bunch of cookies and junk over the weekend. I vow to do better today and I have. I do better when I am at work. It seems like it is really hard for me when I am off and at home. I have not really felt like exercising (neck problem). I was not eating much there for a while and it feels like I have been on a binge for a couple of days. I have reeled it in without any damage as of yet (whew!). I still feel horrible but I am happy.
I hope that all of you are doing great. I have to go grocery shopping today. I am going to get a lot of fresh salad greens. I am really craving some grilled chicken salad. I think that I will buy me some shrimp to grill too! Have a great day and I'll talk to you tomorrow.

today is very easy i wish the rain would go away life here is very wet we are having a lot of flooding there is a couple places were it looks like the Gondolas in Italy LOL luckily for me we are not getting water into my apartment YET i am watching the local news now and it is all this road is closed this town is evacuated and so on and so forth just a major mess.
My summer job is going OK other then i am driving for some local camps (3) and these poor kids came in on Saturday and have been wet since they have arrived and poor kids look like ducks walking around in rubber boots and dripping :) i am driving the kids for horseback riding lessons you can not ride a horse very well in the rain when you do not know what you are doing . so i was canceled yesterday early i would not be surprised if i do not have any work today ......
Rain:rain: Rain:rain: go away come back another day :fr: :fr: :fr:

Wow...ok, so I've been doing horrible this past month!! I haven't lost a lb! I've been doing really bad these past couple weeks due to vaca, then other things seem to always come up...gained 4lbs! OUCH! :nono:
Nothin like a gain to give yourself a swift kick in the bottom! I went grocery shopping last night and picked up everything I needed for healthy meals. I made myself an awesome salad this morning w/a low salt turkey sandwich for lunch. Also, filled up my big 34oz water jug and I am planning on drinking 2 today!
It's raining here as well....ugh...:( Probably not going to be able to walk today...which stinks b/c I haven't walked since we've gotten back from vaca. I will have to do my TurboJam dvd inside instead....:carrot:

Just a quick hello I have to get ready for work soon UGH
This is something I am not use to I am use to being home for a little while during the day , then on top of trying to get use to a new job I have to deal with closed roads, and bridges we have a lot of flooded areas and washed out roads, I am having problems finding out which roads are open and which ones are closed until you get there .....and I am driving a mini bus for a local camp it is fun getting almost to a place and finding "ROAD CLOSED DETOUR --->" and then going 25 miles around oh well I guess it could be worst I could live in the house that half of the house went down the river
I switched to a Thursday night weight in last night also and I was up 1.5 pounds but I am hoping to be going in the right direction next week I know that switching from a morning weight in to a night weight in that I would have a gain so I was expecting it
we got a whole months of rain in 2 days a total of 9 inches

We walk around in her neighborhood b/c it's out in the country and her street is exactly 4 miles roundtrip...there are some excellent hills that are really pushing us...which is fantastic! We would probably walk everyday if it wasn't for the rain we keep getting..ICK. But we are still walking at least 3x a week, so that's still good.
I hope this weekend doesn't set me off track w/all the parties & things for the holiday. Today will probably screw me up a little b/c we've got a b-day party, plus a 4th party...I will get back on track tomorrow for sure though.
Have a great 4th everyone!:sunny:

Oh Memoe I know the feeling. I went to a 4th party last night with such good intentions and stuck to the protein (I'm on SBD and they didn't have any non-carb salads) until they brought out the deserts about 3 hours before the fireworks. They called my name and I answered.:( But today is a new day so I will get back on track!:dizzy: And no more parties until Sunday and I know there won't be much in the line of deserts!!!

I made it thru the 4th pretty dam well..which was hard being the only almost raw vegan..I keep saying almost raw cuz yah I am still not getting this 100 percent raw thing down at all..lol
but so I am the only semi raw vegan at the bbq..and I do fine..just fine..
but then today..
I go to the cafe..
vegan fricken cookies..they have..3 fricken bucks a pop..they have 2 left..now realize these are made out of healthy yummy things, although not raw..still pretty dam good for you..
460 dam calories a piece..
so I think..ok just gonna take a few bites each day as a treat for myself
I ATE THE WHOLE FRICKEN COOKIE by the time I got home..urghghgh..lol

Mary - keep as positive as possible. It sounds as if you have recognized the problem and that is half the battle! Now all you have to do is deal with it and move on. We've all taken those backward steps - don't beat yourself up over it!
As for me, I am doing alright, though I need to be exercising more (still in some pain though as I start my new Fibromyalgia meds) In any event, however, I'm about 1/6 of the way there, so that's good news!

Hi all! Sorry I have been pretty much MIA lately. So much going on. Summertime...:p Anyway, I was up last Sat 2.2 so my total loss is down to 4.6. :tantrum: Oh well. LOL My own fault. I did order Leslie Sansome's WATP dvd from Netflix. I will try that and see how I like it. I don't usually like doing videos. I have ADD and can't focus for that long. At least with my elliptical I can watch TV and that usually gets me through a 30 min workout. I hope everyone else is doing well!!
Mary, don't be depressed! I know it sucks. I went about 6 weeks losing and gaining the same 2 lbs! I know you are doing WW...do you eat your flex points? I have found that if I eat them I do better. I still have to watch WHAT I eat too. If you just follow the 8 rules you will be fine and don't be afraid to eat those flexies! Sometimes your body thinks you're starving it and saves EVERYTHING you eat! and good plan on the water. It really does help!

Well it's been a week. Had the last graduation party Sunday and did okay except for the small chocolate fountain that was there. Didn't WI till today because I could tell I was carrying a lot of water in my legs etc and I wanted to get rid of it before I formally WI. But at least got good news this AM, down to 176.7:carrot: Know I'm not eating enough vegetables at night right now but I'm getting in my water and exercising every day for 15 - 20 minutes. So hopefully not too much will come back on. Have a bad day at work with meetings all day and no time for lunch.:( So maybe I can get back on board better on Thursday after I get through Wednesday AM which is the same thing again. I've found I always get more hungry at work than at home and I want to munch at work and don't as much at home. So it's trying to take snacks that you can eat in meetings to keep the hunger at bay so I don't over eat then at meals.
Hope everyone has a good week this week!!::D

Hi. I'm starting the 30 lb challenge late in the game, but I really need to lose as much as possible for an event on Sept 30. I've been stalled in the mid 180's and need to make some serious progress on a daily basis.
My program is this:
- 1300 calories a day, high protein
- Cardio/run 30 mins and abs 5x/week
- Lift 5x a week, alternating upper and lower
Any thoughts on this approach? Good luck everyone!

...but what the heck! I am always looking for new ways to keep myself motivated & focused. We'll see what kind of damage I can do by Sept 30th!
My program: 1300-1500 cal per day, high fiber, lots of protein. I walk 2.5-5 miles 5 days a week, do 60 mins elliptical 5-6 days per week, also mix in yoga, Tae Bo, and toning work. The time I used to devote to watching tv, I now dedicate to being active.
My last weigh-in was 179.9lbs, and as I average 2 1/2 lbs per week, I'll start at 177.4 - should be about 175.9 next weekend. Woohoo!!

Unfortunately, I am still stuck at 152. No loss once again this week. Seems like I am stuck between 150 and 154. And something always comes up during the weekend and I fall off track. I am still walking 4 miles around 3x a week and drinking 64oz of water a day, but nothing is seeming to work to get me over this hump. I really haven't been eating any junk....I don't know what I am doing wrong (well...I do drink alot of budlight, so I know that is a huge part of the problem). But with the way I eat and the amount of sweat that comes off of me when I walk in the evening...I should be losing weight even if I am drinking at least 1 day a week! Does anyone have any suggestions? Help! I haven't lost a single lb for this challenge yet!! I am still working off my 4lb gain (2lbs to go!). :?:

Christie: what are you doing eating wise! Sometimes we need to trick our bodies to eat more calories to get out of starvation mode! Say if you are eating 1500 cal. a day up it too 1700. Then your body says hey I don't need to hold on to all these calories because your feeding me!
Just a suggestion I dunno what your eating plan is..maybe I can be of more help once I know!!!!

Hey everyone I have been MIA because I not only way cracked and screwed up on raw foods, I actually cracked and have been eatting non vegan foods too..no meat though..but cheese and breads I know arnt vegan..
atleast I think the crust had egg in it..maybe it was vegan I dunno..but I know the cheese wasnt..
anyways I realized I was really spinning myself in a werid cycle with the raw foods ..I am taking a step back now and having a breath..
I have ordered the nutrisystem vegatarian package just to make myself eat 3 meals a day and stop the almost starving/binging thing I had accidently started doing..
NOT that I am downing raw foods or anyting, its a wonderful beautiful thing, but I think for someone like me who had a ED (eatting disorder) during my teen years..it was a bit triggering for me..It made me have to think about food too much, control it too much, and I got wrapped up into this vicious cycle with it untill I finally cracked and just went on a wild binge..and thats not good..thats not what I want..
I cant swear I wanna eat over priced freeze dried over processed nutrisystem food either..lol but I figure just the making a habit for a month of eatting 3 meals a day and 2 snacks or what not..just getting back to making myself do that and I will..when I pay for overpriced stuff I sure as hell do use it..LOL
then maybe I think I might look into ediets..see if they have reasonable vegan or almost vegan diets at reasonable amounts of calories..
this is kinda lame but I need it planned for me which is one of the reasons I picked nutrisystem..if I ..myself start picking what I am going to eat..it just never goes good..lol my mind goes ga ga with it..I need that *diet plan to follow* and that was something new I learned about myself..and I have never seen myself as a follower..always a lil proud to be independent and stuff..but when it comes to this I have to admit..doing it my way dosnt work..lol
cuz my way gets a lil crazy:)
anyways so thats why I havnt been around
scale is still stuck..probabbly from the binges..
but I am still at 164
the heat wave has finally broke, I am going to start walking again and that should help too:)

Hi everyone, I'm still stuck at 176. I don't know how you guys do it losing 3-4 pounds in a week more than once. I've never been able to do that whether on Weight Watchers or South Beach. I do it when I'm carrying water, but after that, that's it. Do you all exercise a lot? I keep thinking that's my problem, plus being older and menopausal with a slow metabolism. Thyroid has always been okay in the past too. Just gets frustrating with losing only 1-2 pounds a month with everyone else losing 2-4 a week. Normally take in no more than 1500 calories a day either, sometimes less.
DH is having surgery Wednesday so I'm just going to try to eat healthy and not perseverate on it till I can get him home again.
Am willing to listen to any advice anyone wants to give me.
Thanks to you all! Keep cool (cause I think it's hot across the country!) and keep on doing what you're doing till you meet your goals.

Well...I haven't really been following a "diet" to say. I've just been trying to stay away from the carbs and fatty stuff. I'm staying away from processed foods as well and trying to only eat food in the freshest form possible. I eat alot of fruits & vegetables and when I'm picking out meat, I try to stay w/in the 90%-97% lean category.
I logged into fitday today and tracked what I have eaten this morning....it's starting to make a little more sense now!! I've really been eating the wrong things!! This morning I had 1 slice of organic multigrain toast w/a piece of cheese melted on it and sliced up hard boiled egg on top. Then I had a meal replacement shake w/fresh banana & strawberry mixed w/8oz of 1% milk(I work at a dietary supplement company and can take stuff for free)...the shake has 17g of protein in it and it's really low on carbs, fat, & sugar.
But I'm already at 1200 calories for the day!! WOW!! and I've been thinking that I've been eating really healthy!! It's only 9am and I'm already up to 1200!! I am astonished! :dizzy:
I'm not too sure how to really use fitday yet...I still have to explore around...I guess I really just have to sit down and figure out an eating plan for myself....
Does anyone have any input or anything that could maybe help me?

Grandma, I'm soon-to-be grandma myself and am post-menopausal. When I started trying to lose weight, it seemed hopeless. I could barely make it around the Curves circuit the recommended 2 times and I was so sore and wretched the next day I could only drag myself there twice a week. This was in the beginning of June. But I kept at it. Learning that my sister, who was always much heavier than me, lost nearly fifty pounds propelled me into action!
I am able to go to Curves every day of the week now and I easily go around the circuit 3 or 4 times each day (with the staff's permission.) I eat a very low number of calories a day- I just don't lose weight on the recommended diet plans. I am getting older and older people don't need as much food, is my opinion.
I am back on my mountain bike. I never EVER thought that would happen.
So keep plugging away. Things will get better. It all kind of fits together. The less you eat the easier it is to exercise and the more you exercise the more weight you lose and the less you weigh the less you need to eat, etc etc. Just keep the ball rolling and all the pieces will work together. A post menopausal body is a sluggish critter but not hopeless.
Love,
Celery

I weighed in at 237.8 today, so again, not much change for me, but at least I think weighing in once a week is keeping me from gaining.......

Whoo Hoo!! I'm down 2 pounds this week.:carrot: First that I've lost in probably 2 weeks. I'm sure it has to do with exercise also. Since DH was in the hospital for 4 of the past 6 days, I had to do a lot of walking in the hospital, and cleaning up of the house to make room for him now that he's home. I tried to watch what I ate, but he saved the cookies from his trays for me and I ate them. Now that he's home I hope to be able to ride my bike more again also.
Till next week.....!

I'm down 15 pounds for the challenge, 15 more to go. I've lost half the weight in less than half the time so if I continue at this rate, I'll make it! I hope!

Hey Everyone! Sorry for not poking around for so long. I have lost 10.6 pounds since starting, I don't think I will be losing 20 in just over a month. I am really bad at making any challenges, I hope everyone else is doing great!

Well bummer for me! I am not at home, I am at my grandmothers helping her out as she just had her heart surgery...I didn't bring my scale...so I don't know if I am up or down! However, I do know that her scale is a few pounds higher than mine! I did not have a good week last week exercising, eating & my water intake! I wi on Monday @ 179.5. I think I may be up 2 lbs from last wi. Since I don't have my scale I will now use this one til I go home! I am not going to change my ticker though until I am at home or until I get to 174 on her scale then I will adjust it @ home!
I need to get back on track! I miss my curves!!!!!! I need to start doing my exercising DVD's I brought along! I'm gonna start a new ticker for here!

Well I was up last week. I don't even know the amount cause I didn't go to wi. I have a scale at home but is it just slightly off the WW scale. I'd have to say it was 2 lbs but I am proud to say that I am back down this week...that's me up one week down the next. I have a good week then fall off and gain. That's why it's taking me so damn long to lose this weight. I have NO discipline. Not whure what to do though. That's just my personality. I am very scattered. Have any of you seen Finding Nemo? Think Dory...that's me. LOL
Anyway, congrats to the losers and keep on trucking maintainers and gainers (me lol).
Christie, have you tried Weight Watchers? Maybe it would help you to have to be accountable for the items that go in your mouth. Maybe even try writing down what you eat. If you're tracking calories, write down what you eat and the number of calories. That may help.
I'm off for now...make it a great day!

I didn't bother to weigh in this week b/c.....well, let me start from the beginning...
Last week, I was doing really well. I was walking, eating the right things, entering the foods into fitday, keeping track of calories, drinking lots of water, etc, etc. Some time last week (not sure what day it was) I was at 148lb!!! That's the lowest I've been yet!! (since joining 3FC in January) I was soooo proud!! I got over the hump!! FINALLY!! :carrot:
I knew that this weekend would set me off a little b/c I had a Jack n Jill to go to on Saturday. Welp, I ended up going out w/some friends from work on Friday too, so basically I was hungover & drinking beers the entire weekend. And when I'm hungover, I eat whatever is going to make me feel better. Not to mention all the gatorade (& sugar) I put into my body. :yikes:
So to make a long story short the weekend went lousy. I couldn't bring myself to get on the scale on Sunday to see what I had gained back just from the weekend alone.
Monday, I had jury duty. ALL DAY LONG! Yup....of course I have that kind of luck where I ended up getting picked for a damn trial!! I have jury duty for the next 2 weeks!! BLEK! :judge:
Anywho....now my schedule is all screwed up. I haven't been eating breakfast like I normally would. I've only been eating 1 egg for breakfast. We don't get a break for lunch until 1pm and I'm used to having a snack in between breakfast & lunch. Basically, I haven't been eating as much as I normally do and I've been skipping meals. Not good. I am sooooo tired from sitting in the courtroom all day that I haven't been walking once I get home either. :tired: I only walked once this week and that will probably be it. not good.
So...the conclusion to the story is that I'm not expecting too much this week or next. I am totally throwing my body off wack!
Only me! :dizzy:

Ouchie Christie! It sounds like neither of us had a good week. I was totally off plan last week. I'm getting back now. All you can do is work with what you have and try to make the best decisions you can!

Well, I'm down another 1/2 pound. :) I'll take it. Thought it would be more since I weighed less yesterday, but maybe it will just make next week look even better! I'm finally able to get into 2 sets of pants that I haven't been in in over 1 if not 2 years. So it's starting to make a difference.:carrot:

I'm down another pound:carrot: Hopefully this will keep on going. I'm getting back onto the bike again so I'm optimistic. Won't be anywhere near 30 pounds by September, but as long as it drops I won't complain.
People at work have been noticing I'm losing some weight and have asked if I've been working at it if so how. Plus I fit into a nice pant suit I bought 1 year ago that was too tight then and fits pretty good now. So that's another good sign.
I'll take whatever I can get. :)

I've only lost 2lbs so far for this challenge, but that's OK. I'm just glad that I finally got over my hump!

I hear ya Emily!! Me too! I did awful for this challenge! I worked basically to get over my plateau that I've been on for months now!! I've lost all of 2lbs for this challenge!! What the heck! :dizzy:
I mean, I AM happy that I got past my normal fluxuation between 150 & 152, but now I am fluxing between 147 & 150. ugh!! It's driving me nuts!! I'm starting to lose interest and feel like I am killing myself (not literally, just that I am working sooooo hard and not getting anywhere) and letting this "losing weight" thing take over my life! I just want to feel comfortable inside my own skin again and not feel like an out of shape blob all the time. I feel like I look horrible in all my clothes now. I used to love shopping, now I hate it b/c I always think I am gonna go up another size! :stress:
I know that I may not be as heavy compared to others & sometimes I feel bad for thinking I'm fat b/c I know there are many other people out there that would give anything to be my size, but I just don't feel comfortable. I feel too heavy most of the time. I look at myself in the mirror somedays and just think ugh! I think my biggest problem is that I am stuck in the past and have fixated myself on how I used to look when I 1st started college. This is something I need to get over and realize that I will never be that size again. I am 25yrs old, I am not going to stay looking like I was when I turned 21. Sigh.
 Blehhhhhh!!!! I hate feeling like this!!!
