View Full Version : Dieting With Diabetes - The Long, Hot Summer
meowee 05-01-2006, 09:50 AM Here we are . . . as we all know, the summer can present special challenges for the overweight diabetic . . . so thought we could discuss our problems in here until the fall comes rolling along. . .
Have a great day of moving and shaking. See you soon.:carrot:
Josian 05-01-2006, 11:22 AM Thanks for the new thread meowee!
My big issue is that I spring cleaned our bedroom on Sunday and DF was complaining madly this morning that he couldn't find anything! :) One room down, rest of house to go!
Got mom moved on Saturday. She had so many people there that it wasn't too big of a deal. We moved about 4 loads (truck and trailer) but they were all from the second floor. So, yeah, I am a little bit sore today, but in a good way.
Not to mention what I did to our poor bedroom yesterday! hehehe.
I'm going to call and set up a couple of doctor appointments today. See what the heck is going on with me.
*hugs*
meowee 05-01-2006, 02:01 PM Well, Josian . . . you may be tired and a little sore, but you sound like you're in better humour. Hope you don't have to wait too long for the doctor appointments.
akrosey49 05-01-2006, 02:55 PM Morning everyone..so weve moved again and i found u all;) its sunny and still cold.. we had friends over last night..us girls visited while the guys worked on my dh airplane..we are getting it annualed and ready for sale..dh cant fly anymore cuz of his back injury..all ready have a potenial buyer..my girlfriend and i had agreat time talking about quilts etc..was fun..im feeling fine this am sl 111.. i was so hungry had to have a snack befor bed..small apple and some pretzels..josian good luck at the drs..has anyone had these symptoms.. bad gas.. burbing that and other end too..my daughter has had this 2x now and wondering what causes it.. she said it was so bad she couldnt stand herself and it hurt too.. any ideas?? hope you all have agreat day..(((((((hugs))))) rosey
meowee 05-01-2006, 03:53 PM Is she taking any new medications, Rosey? Or eating quite a bit more fibre and/or gassy veggies (broccoli, cabbage, legumes, etc.)? Garlic (which I dearly love) will also bother me sometimes.
Sometimes just a strange comination of foods can do it. I remember once (quite a few years ago now) having chicken noodle soup followed by a couple of big brownies. Within the hour I thought I was going to explode and my stomach was so sore, I almost wished it would. :o
akrosey49 05-01-2006, 05:07 PM Meowee.. she has been following ww and really limits her food.. also drinks slimfast..but allows herself one as she calls "blow it day " a week and they had steak salad and garlic bread.. the next moring she had eggs and bacon and mexican for dinner.. ive told her to keep track of what shes eating diff.. this is the 2nd time it has happened to her.. and yes she takes allergy meds but not sure what..she said the gas is so"offensive" and the burbs too.. that she cant stand herself..her income is limited and going to the dr is a big expense.. so i was trying to gather some info for her..any helpful info i would be greatful..thanks rosey
creations 05-01-2006, 05:44 PM Found you with no problems.
Going out in a few minutes and plant some flowers. Got a few today and will get some more on payday. Always get differnet ones every year. What ever catches my eye.
Will go to the foot dr in the morning. He's a new one for me.
Have a great evening.
Judy S
meowee 05-01-2006, 07:23 PM Rosey . . . that combination of high fat meat and garlic bread; then a high fat breakfast; then spicy stuff . . . could be a candidate for problems. Especially after a fairly bland and very controlled WW diet for a week. :(
Judy . . . glad you found us. I promise I'll leave us here until September. Have fun in the garden. Lucky girl. I'm allergic to insect venom so I don't dare puddle in the great outdoors too much. Consequently, I really don't know a flower from a weed . . . and as long as it's pretty and in the garden (I do recognize dandelions :dizzy: ) I don't care which it is.
Have a great evening, everybody. :carrot:
paperdoll 05-01-2006, 08:39 PM rosey those bad burps can result from really fresh bread,

meowee 05-02-2006, 09:21 AM Good Morning, gang . . . it's raining, again, and it's supposed to continue for a few days. All the rain this spring has been making my arthritic old joints go crazy.
Glad you found us, Glen and Jeanne. Pat, thanks for the input. Of course, you're right. It's the yeast content in the bread that does it. There's usually a yeasty smell to it, also.
See you later, gators. Keep moving and shaking. :carrot:
akrosey49 05-02-2006, 03:09 PM Morning everyone:coffee: first off thankyou every one for your helpful advice..i passed it along to my dd and she said she had eaten homemade cinnamon rolls(actually quite a few)plus all the other stuff..ill let u all know what her dr says..this is so great to be able to share info..i just read parts of the new 3fc book and recommend it.. it has lots of useful info.. not sure what on todays agenda.. i did big shopping yesterday and happy to say no chocolate came home with me..it s really helping to police my cupboards..and i started back with my exercises(the ones i sent to a few of you) so last night i needed advil for my snack..im detrmined.. all my achs and pains are fueling my determination to stick with this..im tired of hurting all the time:?:.. aslo got my mail and lots of neat stuff i got on e-bay(im an e-bay addict:o ) ..paperdoll am so happy to see you back and hope u are feeling better..hello to all and have agreat day (((((((hugs))))))) rosey
rosettastone 05-02-2006, 04:13 PM Hi, all. Mild Spring weather here. (Sorry, Meowee - I'd trade if I could.) Welcome back, Pat. Sorry about your depression. I wrestle with it too. I still have that nasty cold I caught last week and have been medicating with food and not doing any exercise. I'm afraid to get on the scale tomorrow, but I must face the music. Rosey - I used to be an EBay addict. Have bought some nice things but a lot of stupid ones too. Don't go on there anymore.
pinkroses 05-02-2006, 09:05 PM Good evening everyone. Spring here is trying to cut down on our house plans which we have so we can afford the house payments. We did, thank goodness.
I had to take Mom out. Tired when I got home.
ROSEY the bad burping could be from REFULXE DISEASE
I have had this for years and I had that sympton ; if it gets worse and keeps bothering you I would make a appoiment with a gastoragoist.
I hope every one is having a good evening. PINKROSES
RebaR 05-02-2006, 10:25 PM hey Y'all,
Here in LA (Lower Alabama :D ) it is definitely spring...on the way to summer... temps in the 80's... will probably be in the 90's soon....
today was a normal tuesday...work, water aerobics.... the school year is coming to an end... only 2 more weeks left and we'll be out for the summer...
Jeanne, I read your reply on the other post... glad I can help...
Reba/AL
meowee 05-03-2006, 08:54 AM Well, here we go again . . . it's dull and overcast this morning and that's the way I feel, too. :(
Strange, because I did get to move my ticker .8 to the right this morning and that usually sets me up for a good day. But this morning all I see to be able to see is the length of the road ahead rather than the individual victories along the way. Just one of those days, I guess. Oh well, I'm sure it won't last long. Overall, I'm usually a pretty 'up' person.
Thanks for understanding everybody . . . and thanks for just being here. :grouphug: It helps to know you've got buddies out there that really know what you are going through.
See you soon, gang. Keep moving and shaking and heading toward the good stuff. :carrot:
Josian 05-03-2006, 12:08 PM Hi all!
Back in the saddle! We are heading out to Boise again tomorrow afternoon to go eyeball some property. I was up at 2 am yesterday to do a potato chip reset, so my sleeping schedule is all out of whack (Took a nap yesterday when I got home.)
Had a girls afternoon out with one of my bridesmaids. Got her fitted for the dress, and we even found shoes. Her daughter is my flowergirl and she is just full of it! :) One down, two to go. I have one that I'm still not sure is going to be a part of my wedding or not. She hasn't returned my calls and has been beating around the bush.
I guess we'll have to see. Anyway, I'm out of here. Gotta finish up my week early so I can go play this weekend.
Take care!

creations 05-03-2006, 06:41 PM Good afternoon ladies!
Its been a beautiful spring day here.
Our dear granddaughter had a checkup at dr this morning. She still weighs 18.8 lbs at 15 months and is 30 inches tall. Talks, runs and all that good stuff.
She's allergy to milk and soy,so her food is limited and she doesn't gain, she was 8lbs8ozsat birth.
The doctor says not to worry but this grandma does.
Any suggestions?
Judy S
meowee 05-04-2006, 10:49 AM Morning, kiddies . . . I'm still a little down . . . but hopefully things will pick up soon. I've been eating everything in sight, of course, and that is reflected by my BS which was 7.1 (128) this morning. Luckily, I don't have any really bad junky stuff in the house, but I can sure manage to overdo it with the good stuff. :dizzy:
Goodness, gracious, Judy, I can certainly understand your concern. Poor child. What can she eat? If the doctor says don't worry, you have to try not to.
Thanks, Rosey. I know you are right and usually I can do just that. Just having one of those little funky periods. :?: Have a great time with the housework. Poor you. Try to think of it as good exercise.
Glad you had a good time with the kid, Jeanne. And glad you get to move your ticker, too. Have another fun day.
So glad you are back to yourself, Josian. Like Rosey mentioned, I'm curious too. What is a 'potato-chip-reset'???? :dizzy:
Well everybody, please have a great day. Keep on moving and shaking in the proper direction and I'll keep on trying to :kickbutt: myself back into a better frame of mind. See you soon. :carrot:
Josian 05-04-2006, 11:14 AM Y'all are funny. :)
This month is when the potato chips get redone in Walmarts. They added some new shelving and are moving things around, so it's a big project... Hence, I'm "resetting the chips!" I only have to do two stores in this area, so that's not too bad. Still a pain though.
Not quite back up to speed yet. I refuse to look at the scale because I know it keeps adding more and more back on. I have an appointment with my endo and gyno on the 15th to talk about it, because I now have 6 months to fit into my wedding dress and I keep getting further and further from my goal instead of closer to it!
I'm still staying away from sugar, bad fats. Eating whole grains and good fats. Keeping my fingers crossed that I can figure something out soon.
Well, gotta get cracking, with the long drive to Boise looming before me tonight.
Hugs to you all!
creations 05-04-2006, 12:18 PM Good Morning.
Weigh in this morning, down 2.2 to my surprise. Now to keep it going that way.
Granddaughter mostly eats plain food from scratch,no prepared food,no mixes etc. There a few cookies out there,no ice cream, candy etc.
Will try to get a bike ride it later this afternoon.
JUdy S
meowee 05-04-2006, 01:34 PM :dizzy: Josian . . . never would I have imagined 'potato-chip-reset' was something with a 'literal' meaning. That's hilarious when you think of all the strange things that I was imagining. Like a new way to bring up your glucose level after a hypo, or something. ;)
 Judy . . . congrats on the nice loss. Hey, look at the bright side, your grandaughter is definitely learning to eat properly and hopefully she'll never learn some of the worst junk-food habits. :D
I think I'm starting to feel a little brighter. Now, if only the sun would come out . . . :carrot:
Jeanne88 05-04-2006, 02:22 PM Hi everyone and a good morning to you ,,,Just a fast post am off to work,,it is beatiful here today,,,:D

rosettastone 05-04-2006, 04:52 PM Hi, all. Surprise, Surprise! I was down 2 lbs. at weigh-in last night. Don't know how I did that since I haven't been very vigilant the last week or so and even ate a few desserts. Still have lingering congestion and may not be able to go to the gym on Saturday as planned. Glad you're feeling better Meowee. Hope the sun comes up soon. Rosey -- I'm sure you'll get motivated to stay on track. Dieting is boring, but the lower number on the scale is such a reward. Time to go to lunch.
meowee 05-04-2006, 05:00 PM Congratulations on the loss, Jeanne. Keep it going in that direction, girl.
Great list, Rosey . . . I printed your post so I'd have it for reference. I've learned the hard way that scale-hopping doesn't work for me. Good luck in continuing to avoid the house-work.
Yippee, Rosetta. Don't argue with the good things, just accept the loss, whatever the reason.
Have a good evening. :carrot:
hefty1 05-05-2006, 08:16 AM  wtg rose. my bs was 7.6 this morning. glen
meowee 05-05-2006, 11:16 AM Good Morning, gang . . . still no sunshine around here, but at least my internal sunshine is pretty much in place. Yesterday finished up pretty good. Calories around 1400 to help make up for Wednesday's 2300. Only exercise was a little mall-crawl; but every little bit helps. ;) If I can manage another fairly low calorie count today, I'll be back on track for the week. Unfortunately I was up a little early with a BS reading of 3.8 (68) at 3:30 am and I'm a little tired even though I did go back to sleep for a couple of hours after I had a little early brekkie. Hopefully everything will be all balanced out by the end of the day. :^:
Hi, Glen. Glad you're here. Obviously you are up pretty early this morning too. Hope you are still enjoying your course.
Okay, the rest of you sleepy heads, time to get a moving and a shaking. :carrot: See you soon.
akrosey49 05-05-2006, 02:46 PM Morning all.. actually meowee i do get up early..but dont go on puter till later.. have to have coffee and watch my soap opera etc etc.. im a creature of habit:goodvibes its cold here still and rainy..i was so in a bad mood yesterday.. but today is anew day right.. iv'e adjusted my ww pts.. at that website where i got the tidbits they said to lower your pts a bit to get things moving in the right direction.. now im allready hungry but id rather be hungry than frustrated with no loss..we will see how this works.. i think its a mind over stomach thing :?: ..to night the dh and i have been invited to the local senior center for game night..several of our friends and neighbors are going..they play cards etc.. and its snack pot luck..i never considered myself a senior citizen yet..but guess what i am one.. hmmmm somehow i dont feel like that in my mind but my body is sure telling me diff..have a great day every one (((((((( ))))))))) rosey
meowee 05-06-2006, 02:55 PM Good afternoon everybody . . . wherever you are hiding.
Rosey . . . it is definitely a new day . . . and hopefully your little adjustment will get things moving again. Extra water usually helps too. You know, I'm not too sure where "senior citizen" starts any more. Always remember that you are only as old as you feel; and that seems to be something else that changes from day to day for me.
Hope to see you all really soon, gang. Keep moving and shaking. :carrot:
akrosey49 05-06-2006, 03:13 PM Morning everyone..cold and rainy today again..i was up early..i had such a good time last night..my dh decided not togo so my girlfriends and i went..since i dont drive anymore my girlfriend drove our old beater car(we have a nicer one just thats its a gas hog and the older ones not)we had to use my car as hers is ahigh stepper and us short people have trouble getting in high stepping cars:?: so since she hadnt driven a stick shift in awhile we hopped and jumped all the way:rofl: it was to funny.. and i relearned how to play penocle(sp?)..and even tho i brought a snack i didnt eat anything:cp: i was proud of me.. sooooooo the big news.. i weighed this am and -3#'s.. i was shocked:yikes: why can that happen just out of the blue after stuggling for 2 weeks then boom a loss:carrot: :carrot: :carrot: but im a happy camper today.. and thankyou all for the support..not sure whats planned for the day but hope we all have some fun with the ones we love (((((((hugs))))) rosey
meowee 05-06-2006, 05:03 PM Yippee for you, Rosey. Sometimes our bodies don't like to follow the 'rules'. In other words, I don't think anyone knows why we lose the way we do. Only 'basic truth' I can think of . . . keep doing the right stuff and the right stuff will eventually happen. :D
akrosey49 05-07-2006, 03:15 PM Morning everyone.. well my gosh i am surprized that im the first in here today:o hope u are all having a great day with the ones u love..thankyou meowee.. it feels great to loose finally..its just fueling my fire..its still cold and rainy.. was looking at all the adds for spring flowers in sundays paper.. since we have a short growing season i buy my flowers allready blooming for my deck planters..but it still too cold to do that:?: .. not sure what the day will bring.. every days an adventure.. will check in later ((((hugs)) rosey

Its a beautiful cool spring day here. Didn' start any new projects today, just work on getting basic things done. Have to have work done on my van this week and get some more flowers planted.
Have stayed within points so far today.
Have a great week.

meowee 05-07-2006, 09:47 PM Hi Rosey  . . . Hi Judy  .
Yep, I missed this morning. Been busy working away on my quilted clothing projects. Got quite a bit done. Tomorrow it'll be back to the infamous work-project. Weather has been beautifully sunny and cool today. Just the way I like it. It's supposed to continue the same for the next few days, too.
Broke the carafe to my coffee maker yesterday and will have to get a new one quickly. Funny thing is, I drink tea more often than coffee but as soon as I know I can't have any, I really start craving the coffee. :dizzy:
See you tomorrow, chickies. Hopefully some more of the group will be around again by then. Keep moving and shaking and heading in that great downward direction. :carrot:
Josian 05-08-2006, 02:44 PM Hi all!
Back from Boise, didn't find property that we liked, so we are on the lookout again. Eating has been bad, bad, bad.
It's the big 3-0 today, doesn't seem real that I'm switching decades! Aren't I supposed to wake up and feel 30?
Hugs,
akrosey49 05-08-2006, 02:58 PM Morning everyone..well i woke up to snow:( yup thats right.. maybe i should put up my x-mas tree and leave it as there are no spring flowers in sight..Josian..HAPPY BIRTHDAY:hat:..hope you have agreat day and u are as young as u feel..not sure whats on my agenda today..but it feels like a hybernating kinda day with soup simmering on the stove..ill check in later ((((((hugs))))))))) rosey

rosettastone 05-08-2006, 11:11 PM Hi, all. I don't post on weekends because I don't have a computer at home. It was warm, in the 70s here today. Almost too hot for me. I haven't been good with eating and afraid to face the scale. Intended to get back on the wagon today but didn't. It's going to be a bad week. I have a farewell lunch on Wednesday at a restaurant that serve 50s style restaurant food -- everything's fried or covered with sauce.
Meowee - don't work too hard. Rosey - I hope you get some sunshine and flowers soon. Josian - Happy birthday. I know what you mean about moving into another decade. I turned 60 a few months ago and it was almost as traumatic as turning 30. But now I'm used to it and I don't feel that old. In my head I'm still 32 (and all I want to do is boogaloo). (Sorry that was an old Ringo Starr tune.)
creations 05-08-2006, 11:15 PM I have had a pain in my one toe off and on since last nite. It was so bad at times last nite I don't fall asleep until 4,had to get up at 630. Had it a few times during the day and now its back. Any ideas?

Josian 05-09-2006, 12:35 PM Hi all. :)
Day after birthday blues, trying to get some housework done before heading off to work. I have an SAI meeting tonight too, supposed to sing but my head is all congested. hopefully it will clear up before I go.
I refuse to step on the scale until I get this whole hormone thing figured out. I have appointments next week.

meowee 05-09-2006, 08:19 PM Sorry, gang . . . I missed you all yesterday. I was just sooooo busy. Please forgive me. Today has been another doozy of a day but in a whole different way.
First of all, decided to get weighed a day early . . . what a mistake . . . the mean old scale- told me I've gained four pounds again. Now I know I was a little overly indulgent with the salt last night :o , but I didn't think it was four pounds worth. Anyway, I refuse to move my ticker to the left. This will go away again shortly; but it's awfully frustrating just the same. :?:
I spent most of today in another town about 50 miles away. First a periodontist appointment (never fun), followed by lunch (bad choice, Fish and Chips) but I only ate half (my system just cannot handle the grease anymore since I've been feeding it better) and then shopping with a friend (a lot more fun).
Josian . . . Sorry I missed your birthday. Thirty didn't bother me too much . . . but forty really freaked me. Fifty was OK again and sixty just sort of happened without my even noticing it. :dizzy: Good luck with those doctors appointments.
Glen . . . Cute one, boyo. You never know how much you miss something until you can't have it. Couldn't find a new carafe to fit my old Melitta machine so finally bought a new Sunbeam coffee maker today. Just finished it's first cup and I don't think it extracts quite as well as the old one so I'll have to give it a little more coffee for the same amount of water. But I enjoyed it just the same.
Rosetta . . . Pick yourself up and get heading in the right direction, again girl. Notice how good I am about following my own advice. :o Just do as I say not as I do. :o
Judy . . . Sorry to hear about the sore toe. Did you bump it? Any signs of ingrown nail problems? Sometimes I get toe and/or foot pains for apparently no reason at all. Very much a burning sensation that is worse in bed then at any other time. I just chalk it up to a bit of diabetic neuropathy. If it continues, you'd better mention it to your doctor.
Rosey . . . Snow . . . oh my. That really makes me feel better about our weather being only in the mid to high 50's. :dizzy: Definitely a good time to get some housework done. That'll warm you up before you know it. :D
Jeanne . . . Oh, wow, I feel your pain. I remember having an abcessed tooth once and I thought I was going to die. I know this will probably sound strange, :dizzy: but I always think any kind of pain that's right there in your head with you is much harder to deal with than a pain somehere else in the body. Hope the infection goes away soon so you can get to the dentist for treatment. Don't you worry about the gossips. the only thing that matters is that you are both happy.
Well, gang . . .tomorrow will be another busy one since I'm now behind on the work-project stuff, but hopefully I'll get a chance to pop in here. You all just keep moving and shaking. :carrot:
creations 05-10-2006, 12:04 PM Its a cloudy spring day here. Rain due for the next 3 or 4 days,
I think it is diabetic neuropathy, seems to happen at nite. Will keep track of it and mention it when I go back to the dr. in August. If it gets too bad will make an appointment sooner.
Everyone have a great day.

Josian 05-10-2006, 12:28 PM Hi all!
Back to the drawing board. Meowee, I'm refusing to step on the metal monster myself these days. The meeting went really well last night. Lasted until almost 9:30, but it was the first of it's kind this year so I won't complain much.
Gotta run. I see my endo on Monday and hopefully they can help get me back on the right track.
Hugs,

meowee 05-10-2006, 05:55 PM Hi there sugar-babies. Its raining but since I've been stuck inside working anyway, I guess it doesn't matter too much.
Rosey . . . it's marvellous that you feel marvellous. and it's marvellous that you actually got some cleaning done and you still feel so great. ;)
Josian . . . hang in there. Everything will work out eventually. Some times are just more trying than others.
Jeanne . . . glad to hear the pain is a little better. Hope you make out all right at work.
Judy . . . Just keep an eye on things. A little neuopathy isn't too serious, but you do have to be careful with those feet. They can get into some unexpected trouble sometimes. ;)
As mentioned, another busy day for me. The good news is that this was my official weigh-in day and 3 of the 4.4 lbs of www (weird-water-weight) have gone away again. Hopefully I'll be back to the downward direction again by this time next week. I WILL NOT get on the scale again until then. Scale-hopping always screws me up.
Have a great evening, everybody. Keep moving and shaking and doing the right stuff. See you soon. :carrot:

meowee 05-12-2006, 06:16 PM Hi gang . . . yesterday was a bruiser of a busy day. :( I've been having a bit of a funny day, today . . . haven't really done much of anything and yet it has been exhausting; don't know where the time has gone. :dizzy: Weather is absolutely beautiful . . . warm (mid-60's) and sunny . . . just the kind of day I wish could last all year.
Let us know how you like Curves, Josian  . . . wish they'd run a free trial around here.
Have fun painting the kitchen, Rosey. Think of it as exercise. Your waffle-treat sounds great. My problem, I'm sure, would be stopping at just one. :o
Wow . . . Pink . . . you went lots of places; it's no wonder you were pooped. Hope your weather is good and you feel good, too.
Well, guess I'd better get back to my busy schedule of doing nothing much. Keep moving and shaking, gang. See you soon. :carrot:
rosettastone 05-12-2006, 06:36 PM Hi, all. Well, the weigh-in on Wednesday night was bad. Up 3 lbs. Haven't been able to get back on track the last few days. Have been eating pooring and am afraid to get on the scale. Will talk to myself this weekend and try to get back on track by Monday. Have a session with my personal trainer tomorrow. I haven't been to the gym for two weeks so I'm back to square one. Rosey and Meowee -- glad you aare both getting some sun. Our weather is in the 70s, which is too warm for me. Hope it doesn't get any hotter. Rosey - have fun painting that kitchen. Wish I could fix up mine. Ladies (and Glen), have a great weekend.

meowee 05-13-2006, 08:34 PM Hi gang . . . Not one of my better days. Had a pig out lunch that lasted right through until dinner time. :o At least I'm not hungry now, just thirsty, a sure sign the BS is high and I really don't want to know how high for sure. I'll just keep slugging back the water and hope everything is OK again in the morning. :^:
Beautiful sunny day here again. Hope it continues for a good while longer. Still in the mid 60's, but I know the hotter stuff is coming before long. Oh Pooh. :(
Hang in there, Rosetta. You can get back on the good-stuff path again. We all have bad times. It's a long, long journey but we're all here for you girl. :)
Hope you have a great weekend, Jeanne. What's a "gam session"? And what do you do that you worry about the full moon bringing out the 'nuts'? Is your last name VanHelsing? ;) Sorry to be so nosey. You know what they say about cats. :p
Sorry you had a bad night, Rosey. Hope you sleep better tonight. You have every right to be proud of yourself for staying away from the treats. WTG. :D
Have a good evening, everybody. I really need a heavy dose of :dust: :dust: :dust: so thought I'd share it. Have a great time moving and shaking in the great downward direction. :carrot:

Josian 05-15-2006, 02:53 PM Happy belated Mother's Day to you all!
Did my second day at Curves this morning. I am rather enjoying it.
I have my colposcopy this afternoon. I am not looking forward to it. Hope I'm not cramping too much afterwards, as I didn't make it grocery shopping this morning and my house is devoid of food.
Well, gotta hit the showers.
Hugs,
meowee 05-15-2006, 03:25 PM I'm here . . . I'm here . . . it's another beautiful, sunny day in Atlantic Canada, but the temperature is creeping up above 70 so you can all stop sending the hot stuff my way. I like it just the way it is, gang.
Rosey . . . Congratulations on another 3 pounds sent to ugly-pound-heaven, chickie. Boy do I ever know what you mean about ladders . . . everytime I have to get on one, I'm sure it will never hold me, or I'll just get dizzy and fall off or something. Good luck with getting the kitchen ready. :)
Josian . . . Glad you are enjoying Curves. Good luck with the colposcopy (whatever it is?) If it's anything like a colonoscopy, I can understand what you mean about the post-procedural cramps. Keep us posted. :)
Nothing too exciting in my part of the world today. I've been on track and hopefully heading in the right direction the past couple of days although I've probably been overdoing the salt again. We will see what my 'wwi' has to say.
See you soon, gang. Keep it moving and shaking in the meantime. Here's a little :dust: to keep us going. :carrot:
akrosey49 05-15-2006, 08:22 PM Hi everyone.. my kitchen is done and boy does it look nice..once we got started we just kept going..it got scrubbed cleaned painted and wallpaper border up.. it sure looks nice..now just have to put everything back in place but want everything to dry really good so we are having take out for dinner.. good excuse not to cook yup i thought it was a really good excuse;) ((((((hugs))))))) rosey
rosettastone 05-15-2006, 10:36 PM Hi, all. Didn't have a chance to check the forum until after work. I was bad over the weekend. Part of it was "last meal syndrome" - you know, eat, drink and be merry because Monday starts the diet. Usually good for a few lbs. Wish I'd weighed this morning. That would have sobered me up. I had good intentions today and made it through lunch time without going off track. But then at the end of the day I felt like having popcorn, so I bought a 3-pack of 110 calories each and have eaten 2 and am thinking about the third, even though I'm full. I know calorie-wise that's okay, but I really don't want to eat between meals because most of the time, it's not hunger, it's boredom and/or depression. And now I'm thinking of dinner. (And not the meal supplement.) On the plus side, I made it to the gym for a workout with my trainer. That went really well. I'm going back tomorrow night and Thursday night. Hope to get into a routine. Maybe that will motivate me.
Meowee - thanks for the encouragement. I'm with you on the weather. Yesterday it went up to 80 degrees or more. I don't feel comfortable in that heat and it's hard to exercise. Fortunately, today the wind whipped up and it's cooler. Rosey - congratulations on another 3 lbs gone! You're doing wonderfully. And that kitchen -- you deserve a dinner out for all that work.
meowee 05-16-2006, 10:52 AM Hi . . . another sunny morning . . . but they are predicting some rain starting this afternoon and we actually need it. . . parts of the province are having some serious forest-fire problems already. Just hope it doesn't continue for two weeks once it starts. :dizzy:
Rosey . . . congratulations on getting the kitchen done, girl. Great feeling of accomplishment and a great reason not to cook. :D
Rosetta . . . good going on the workout. Unfortunately I know that 'last meal syndrome' only too well. We all probably have the problem a few times during the journey. Just put it behind you and move forward with the good stuff.
I am sitting here typing away and being attacked by a fruit-fly :?: Wonder where he came from, I haven't seen any in the kitchen and besides it's a little to early in the season for them. :dizzy: Crazy.
Anyway, gang. Have a great day moving and shaking in the great downward direction. See you later. :carrot:
Josian 05-16-2006, 12:43 PM Morning hugs!
Colposcopy went well. It's a procedure where they take a vinegar solution and stain the cervix/vaginal area to check for abnormal cells. If they are found, they do a laser treatment and do biopsies. My OBGYN couldn't find anything, so he took the biopsies anyway and I'm awaiting the results. I'm a little crampy but not too bad.
On top of that yesterday- I was helping DF outside last night, and my foot lost a fight with a piece of plywood. I am now missing my big toenail on my right foot. Luckily my wedding shoes are closed-toed, because it takes 18 months to grow back! I'll have a normal toe again by my 1st anniversary!
akrosey49 05-16-2006, 03:01 PM Morning everyone..its another pretty day here.. i have slowly been putting my kitchen back together and am happy to have it all done..now onto other projects to get ready for my family who are coming the end of june..my mother who is 84 has not been here in 9 yrs and my 3 sisters never..im so excited but want my house to shine when they walk in( at least for the first hr or so )and my dd and her family will be here the first weekend too.. my im going to have ahouse full..just the way i like it..thankyou for all the atta girls.. i was surprized with the loss too..actually ive been so busy lately and so used to the ww diet i just didnt pay any attention this last week..and what a nice surprize it was..rosetta.. just keep at it esp the exercise..try not to feel guilty as that just makes you feel bad..like meowee says one foot foreward.. one day at a time( or hr or min. what ever works)Josian that sounds painful .. are u able to get shoes on at all?and hope your tests come back ok( i hate waiting for test results)Meowee ive brought those pesky flies home from the grocery store..even in potatoes..hope u find the source..are u still working on your sewing project..i have some new blouses to make for myself but wanted to get the kitchen done first.. now i can relax a little and play..have a great day everyone (((((((( )))))))) rosey
creations 05-16-2006, 05:28 PM Hi everyone.
Went to a lunchoen this afternoon. Didn't do bad food wise. They didn't have too many choices.
Have a eye dr appointment in the morning.

meowee 05-17-2006, 08:24 AM Just a quick little "HELLO" this morning. It's going to be a busy one. It's also my official wwi morning and my body is intent on maintenance although my mind is geared for loss. :?: Oh well, this tortoise will just keep plodding along repeating the mantra . . . keep doing the right stuff and the rewards will surely follow. Hey at least my BS is keeping in the good range. :)
See you soon, I'll try to get back later on today. In the meantime, keep it moving and shaking, gang. :carrot:
Josian 05-17-2006, 12:46 PM Hi all!
Did my last wee hours of the morning potato chip reset today. 4 hours, 76 feet of chips, not too bad. Toe is hurting though. I need to go finish up my store call and call it a day.
Meowee, my "hor-moans" are in stuck in weight gain mode while my mind set is in weight loss. I'm going to try to make it to Curves for a light workout after work so I don't break my streak-we'll see if my nail-less big toe will cooperate with me.
Gotta run back to work!
Hugs,
meowee 05-18-2006, 10:52 AM Well, Good Morning . . . so far all I've done today is put batteries in my new digital camera and start reading the 130 page on-line instruction manual and I understand nothing. Hopefully, I'll figure out how to take a picture before the camera becomes totally obsolete. :dizzy: I have never before felt so overwhelmed by a camera. Seems the smaller they get, the more complicated they become.
Another busy day . . . promised a friend we'd go shopping . . . so I'd better get a move one. At least it makes me take a break from the camera-induced frustration. :D
See you soon, gang. Keep it moving and shaking. :carrot:
Josian 05-18-2006, 01:08 PM Hi all!
Another day has arrived. I am enjoying my berry bliss (frozen berries, sweetner, water blended) and planning out my meals for the day so I don't stray.
I managed to do a light workout at Curves yesterday-I did 20 minutes, 2 rounds, in my socks. :) I guess that is what I'm going to have to do for awhile until I can get a regular shoe back on. Right now I'm wearing my velcro sandals with socks (fashion faux pas, I know). My work doesn't like it, but they will have to deal with it.
I will call the Dr's office today and find out my biopsy results. xxfingersxx
Gotta run!
Hugs,
creations 05-18-2006, 01:43 PM Weigh in this morning, down a pound in two weeks. BS has been high the last couple of days. Will really have to watch what I'm eating.
Went to the eye doctor yesterday. Everything is ok go back in 3 months for another check. I've had laser in the past for bleeding in the eyes.
Have a great day.
Judy

rosettastone 05-18-2006, 04:33 PM Hi, all. Well my weigh-in wasn't too bad. Down .2 lbs but still up 2.8. Sigh. Will have to try harder. Am anxious about a lot of things right now and that's taking a toll. Did start back exercising. Went again to the gym Tuesday night and will go tonight. Have to get a routine. Meowee - I understand about the camera. I finally bought a combo dvd/vhs player a few months ago and have yet to figure out how to record. The instructions are in several languages and none of them make sense. lol. Rosey -- what a wonderful mother you must be to have such a great daughter. Bask in your leisure while you can!
Holly Belle 05-18-2006, 07:08 PM hello everyone, sorry I have not checked in in awhil but with my job I don't have internet connections all teh time while out here traveling (I travel all but 5 weeks of the year) I will try to catch up on posts, I have hit rock bottom again and need to start over, for some reason I have problems remembering to take my meds and blood sugars every day. Got to work on that. Well, going to try to take a walk now, I will try to check in later and get to kknow you all.
meowee 05-18-2006, 07:39 PM Hi gang. I'm back. Managed to eat lunch at a pizza buffet place without totally blowing things. Made some fairly wise choices and didn't eat until I was stuffed. Will now have a salad-based dinner and be happy that the day did not turn into a total disaster.
Think I'll just try a point and click with the new camera tomorrow and then get down to the real challenge of trying to figure out how to post a picture to the internet. Be prepared . . . I will probably have lots of questions for you. :dizzy:
Josian . . . Wow, I'm surprised you are even moving around on that toe. I had a toenail removed on purpose (ingrown) about four years ago and it was horrible. Maybe a little worse than what you did because it had to be removed right back to the growth point so it wouldn't come back, but the basic pain has to be about the same. Anyway, I'm very impressed with your pain tolerance (and your dedication to both work and your exercise regimen). ;) My :crossed: for you to have a great biopsy result, too.
Judy . . . Glad to hear you had a good report from the eye doctor. And that you had a weight-loss. Now just get back on top of those BS readings and everything will be in great shape. Good Luck ;)
Rosey . . What a wonderful surprise. Although we all know how much you will miss having to do it yourself. :p Have a great day of guilt-free playing.
Rosetta . . . Yep, it's amazing they print those instruction in half a dozen languages and yet not a one of them seems to be English. Just keep plugging away at it, girl. The pounds will eventually cooperate.
Holly . . . I don't know how you manage to keep on track at all when you spend so much time travelling. Try writing notes to yourself in your calendar about the meds. They are so important. Keep in touch, we're all here for you whenever you get a chance to pop in.
Anyway, gang . . . have a good evening and keep things moving and shaking in the right direction. See you all soon. :carrot:
Josian 05-18-2006, 10:14 PM Hi all.
Got the results back from the biopsies. Vaginal wall was normal, but the cervical was not. I have moderate/severe cervical dysplasia (step before it turns to cancer). On June 8th I will have a L.E.E.P. done in outpatient surgery to remove the bad cells.
Sheesh.
Anyway, I'm still trying to digest this.
Hugs,
hefty1 05-18-2006, 10:39 PM hey gang there is an article in readers digest on diebeties go to www.rd.ca. it's in the health section. :) glen
Josian 05-19-2006, 08:34 AM Hi all!
Glen, sorry about the TMI... I forget sometimes that there is a guy on this thread! :)
Up at the buttcrack of dawn again for the second time this week: Gotta take g'ma to the airport. I need to have her there around 8-ish, which means leave here by 5:30.
I dropped my medicine box on my toe last night and opened it up again-started bleeding like mad: at least we know my circulation is good!
On top of that, I was out in the front yard with DF and Skye and she was romping with the neighbor's dogs... then she just disappeared. Luckily, my neighbor found her four streets away. I forget sometimes that it is the nature of the Husky to run, no matter how much she loves her family. No off-leash romps for her for awhile! She scared the daylights out of me!
Well, off to the shower and foot fixin' so I can shuttle granny.
Hugs,
meowee 05-19-2006, 03:30 PM Hi gang . . . weather doesn't know what it wants to do with itself today . . . and apparently that's the way it is going to be for the whole weekend. :( It figures . . . this is a long weekend in Canada . . . and one very dear to most hearts because it sort of symbolizes the start of the good beach and cottage weather.
Hi, Glen . . . how are you doing, boy. Good article, thanks for the link.
Oh, Josian . . . at least they caught it now and are going to do something right away. Good luck . . . and keep that gorgeous dog on a leash so you can cuddle her as needed.
Nothing too exciting around here. I'm trying to avoid both the new camera and the new exercise tape today in the hope that my frustration level will go down and I can get a fresh start tomorrow. My BS was high this morning and I think it was as much stress as the heavy lunch from yesterday.
Got to pop out and stock up on some extra salad stuff to get through the long weekend. See you soon, everybody. Keep moving and shaking and heading in the great downward direction. :carrot:

hefty1 05-20-2006, 09:46 AM hi all alls well here. bs 6.4 this morning. glen
meowee 05-20-2006, 10:41 AM Good Morning . . . its rainy and pretty cool . . . luckily I don't have any outdoor plans for the long weekend . . . but I know a lot of people who do. :dizzy:
 Glen . . . good BS reading. Congratulations. Mine was way up at 7.8 (140) yesterday morning but its back down to a 5.5 (99) this morning. I still prefer to get below 5.0 (90) since I usually tend to go up throughout the day (although yesterday went the other way).
 Rosey . . . Hope the birthday gathering goes (went) well. Everything you mentioned preparing sounds yummy. Congratulations on the blouse pattern that's too big. Always fun to get a nice little NSV. Over the years I've made various sizes out of some of my favourite patterns. I cut the patterns pieces out of very light interfacing so they last longer. I really think the pattern manufacturers expect you to use a pattern only once. Hate that flimsy tissue paper. ;) Never fear, I'll get around to some pictures soon.
Have a great day, everybody. Keep doing the good stuff and you'll get good results. See you soon. :carrot:
Josian 05-20-2006, 02:51 PM Hi all!
I was able to do my workout this morning with shoes on! My new tennies are really roomy in the toes so it didn't rub at all, which is a good thing. Now I'm going to go work out in the yard for awhile before it gets too hot!
 to everyone for your support. I've come to terms with the fact that yes, we found it early, and that everything will be okay. I just hate doing the whole surgery thing, but it needs to be done.
Meowee, feel free to ask me q's about your new camera. I'm pretty good with technology. :)
Tried on my dress last night, I could get the top buttoned and the zipper halfway up, but I need to lose about two inches just below my bust to about my belly button. I'm going to step up my workouts, because it would be nice to fit into it by September so I can have one less thing bugging me.
Well, off to the drawing board.
Hugs,
meowee 05-20-2006, 06:54 PM Wow, Josian . . . shoes. You'll be wearing dancing slippers in no time. Sounds like you're going to need lots of twisting and twirling to whittle that little problem area down. You can do it.
Thanks for the offer of help, I'm sure I'm going to need lots of it. I'm very technologically challenged. I imagine I'll manage to take the picture and get it loaded into the computer, but then . . . I'll be whining for help when I try to get it posted on here. :o At the moment I don't have clue one, but then I haven't looked at any of the software yet.
Sun came out this afternoon and so the day finished up a little better than it started. Same kind of mixed day for tomorrow, apparently. Temperature in the mid sixties so that's good for people wanting to get cottage, boat, trailer, and garden-type chores taken care of. The traditional things people do on the Victoria Day weekend to get set up for the coming summer.
See you soon, gang. Keep doing the right stuff. :carrot:
akrosey49 05-21-2006, 01:58 PM Morning everyone :coffee: .. i have been up early today.. the dh was going to the cabin and of course needed me up to help get him ready..its cool and rainy here and i have the whole day to myself hmmmmmm lots of possibilities might even try and make that shirt fit..the b-day was alot of fun.. my mil enjoyed herself.. quite a big deal to live to 85 and still going strong and enjoying life.. i over ate that day but am back on track today..its ok to splurge once in awhile..hope u are all enjoying your weekend too (((((((hugs)))))) rosey
meowee 05-21-2006, 06:02 PM Hi Rosey. Looks like you and I are the only ones around today. Wonder where everybody else is hiding? Enjoy the day to yourself and good luck with the blouse.
I finally took some pictures and tomorrow I'll see if I can get them out of the camera. :dizzy: And then, hopefully, onto the internet. :^:
Not doing too well with my eating today. Think I missed a hypo in the middle of the night, my BS was 9.3 (162) this morning and I was starving. Managed to eat both breakfast and lunch by 11:00. Been OK since then, but I'd better think about dinner soon . . . I haven't had anything but a cup of tea since then and it's now 6:00 pm and we know it's not good to go too long without eating either.
Anyway, have a good evening and I'll see you tomorrow. :carrot:
creations 05-21-2006, 09:05 PM Hope everyone had a great day.
This weekend wore me out. Took care of my two granddaughters yesterday.
Today I went shopping for flowers for my yard. Found plenty. And tonite we're under a frst freeze warning. So will have to bring them in. Plan on planting tomorrow.

It looks like I may have my part time job back. I gotta make some extra $$!
Gotta run.

meowee 05-22-2006, 05:52 PM Hi gang . . .
Just a quick little post to let you know I spent a lot of time today trying to figure out how to post a picture. The system kept telling me my image was way, way over the allowable KB limit. Finally figured it out and now I have to go retake the pictures of all my quilted clothing projects with the camera set at VGA and then I still have to lower the resolution a wee bit from that level to get them to download.
In the meantime . . . here is the only picture I've been able to post so far . . . my middle cat, Goldi, and doesn't she look bored with the entire project. ;) But I am HAPPY . . . I now know how to put a picture on 3FC. :carrot:
I'll be back later to talk to everybody . . . right now I need a break away from this computer. See you soon.
rosettastone 05-22-2006, 09:31 PM Meowee, love your cat. Look forward to seeing your other pix. Well, I'm up 5 lbs. :( Been on a binge sort of. Back on track today. No letup in my anxiety. Am exercising though. Saw the Da Vinci Code yesterday. Liked it. Much better than the critics would have you believe. It's pretty faithful to the book. Rosey, get back on the wagon! Hi, Glen.
meowee 05-23-2006, 10:42 AM Hi Gang . . . Sorry I never made it back yesterday. You know how it goes some times. :dizzy: Nova Scotia weather doesn't know what it wants to do today . . . basically its cool (about 10C - 50F) and overcast . . . but then the sun pokes out for a few minutes and then it sprinkles rain for a few minutes.
Judy . . . have fun with the planting. Hopefully no more frost warnings.
Jeanne . . . Congratulations on the loss. Good luck with the BS readings. My morning BS was 4.4 (79) but it always goes up a little as the day progresses.
Josian . . . Congratulations on the loss. Just don't get carried away and drop those calories too low. You don't want to get sick, girl.
Rosey . . . Not to worry. We all have our little slips. Just pick yourself up and getting moving in the right direction again.
Pink . . . So glad you are feeling better and congratulation on the loss too.
Rosetta . . . Attagirl . . . . . . Get right back on track and that mean old scale- will be cooperating again in no time. Glad to hear that the movie was as good as the book.
Well, I'd better get some chores done. Here's a dose of :dust: to help us keep going in the great downward direction today. See you soon. :carrot:
Josian 05-23-2006, 12:29 PM Morning all :)
Thanks Meowee. I'm keeping the ol' calorie count around 1400-1600. I don't want to get sick either! What a beautiful kitty, btw! :)
Other than that, it's the same ol' same ol'. I've been using Fitday to help me track my eating and it seems to be helping. I'm not looking forward to tomorrow though b/c I have to go out of town for the evening, which means, of course, eating out. I've been researching what to eat on my new plan, because I'm doing too well to screw up now! :)
Hugs to all!
creations 05-23-2006, 01:38 PM Love the kitty Meowee.
Just finished planting. Still need to get some more flowers for the side of the house. May be this weekend.
Also did some grocery shopping this morning. The one store has a good buy on ice cream,I'm trying to stay away from there.
They are saying 80's by the weekend.
Have a good day everyone.
Judy
meowee 05-24-2006, 11:41 AM Good girl, Josian. . . Good luck on the little 'out-of-towner', I know you can do it.
Oh, Judy . . . I love ice cream in any weather, but especially when it starts to get really warm. Stay strong, girl.
Warm is not a problem in Nova Scotia right now. It is only about 8C/46F this morning and totally overcast. I know it will soon change again and before long we'll be complaining about the heat and humidity . . . but right now it is cold. :(
On a more personal note, the scale decided to let me move my ticker a whole 2 lbs in the down-east direction, and I am a happy camper. :D It's slow going, but as long as things keep moving in the right direction, I try not to get discouraged about the slowness of the journey. :^: It was the tortoise who won the race.
Have a great day, everybody. See you soon. Here's a little :dust: to help us keep doing all the good moving and shaking. :carrot:
creations 05-24-2006, 01:45 PM Great job Meowee.

Jeanne88 05-24-2006, 03:11 PM Meowee,,,cute cat,,nice picture,,,:) Congrats on the wt.loss and moving the ticker,,,it is such a wonderful feeling,,,:carrot: I know what you said about slow,,,I feel the same way,,,just keep going the same way and I am happy,,,mine is slow also,,,the byetta is helping some,,,but my numbers are still high,,,wt loss has slowed down,,so next month I go on a 10 pen,,maybe my numbers will come down alone with the wt,,,,anyway congrats again
It is raining like cats and dogs here ( where did that saying come from ) our river is so high,,,and it is not done cresting yet,,,the parking lot down by the park is completley flooded and it is kinda strange to see it so high,,,with all this rain don't know how high it will go,,,,glad I live up in the hills,,,:stress: our roads are slippery tho,,,,,
Well work day for me,,,have a wonderful day everyone,,,talk to you all later,,,Jeanne :genie:

rosettastone 05-24-2006, 05:00 PM Hi, all. Managed to lose most of the 5 lbs. I've put on. My anxiety is very high. Got a notice this morning that the new landlord will take over either this weekend or early next week. Was hoping to get a nice 3-day weekend of peace. I looked the landlord up on the local court website. They are involved in many many lawsuits, some by tenants and others where they aggressively pursue tenants through lawsuits to get them out. Oh, dear. I just want to be left to live in peace. Sorry if I'm whingeing. My exercise program is going okay. I do feel better after going through it. The weather here has been in the 70s, but I prefer it cooler. Well, that's just me. Have a nice day, ladies.
meowee 05-24-2006, 06:28 PM Just me again . . .
Judy . . . Good luck for tomorrow's weigh-in.
Jeanne . . . I don't know where the saying came from but I hope your cats and dogs stop falling soon.
Rosetta . . . Congrats on being rid of most of that nasty five. Try not to get too stressed and I hope you have a quiet weekend.
Rosey . . . :woo: :hat: :bubbles: :encore: :cheer: HAPPY BIRTHDAY . . . you're never to old for presents or cake (not too much now). That was a really sweet thing for your husband to do. :val2:
See you tomorrow, gang. :carrot:

meowee 05-25-2006, 06:05 PM Hi Josian:hug: . . . Hi Glen:hug: . . . Hi Alison:hug: (although I think maybe you found us by accident, :D but feel free to pop in anytime.)
Just thought I'd drop back and post a couple more pictures. As you can see, I've been playing around again. Still not exactly proud of my talents, but hopefully I will get better.
Anyway . . . the ball of grey hair is MOUSE who thinks he is a reincarnated Egyptian God . . . and the sleek, black guy is JAZZ who is a very laid-back, easy-going cat (although he looks a little angry in the picture.
I tried to fix their eyes with the red-eye-removal feature in HP Imagine Zone and it obviously didn't work for cat eyes. Any ideas????
See you soon gang. Have a great evening. :carrot:
pinkroses 05-25-2006, 09:49 PM Well, it is evening. I can't get on in the mornings. I have another bad hedache. but, at lest it isn't like that virsurs.

Josian 05-26-2006, 12:42 PM Hi all!
Decided to do the sign up for Curves this morning! I have gone 3 days a week for the last two weeks, and I'm enjoying it. Woohoo! Now I just need to keep it up!
My toe is doing better. It has this lovely soft scab over the nail bed now, so only time will tell if the nail grows back or not.
Well all, I'm heading out... Have a great Memorial Day weekend!!! :)
Hugs,
meowee 05-26-2006, 01:53 PM Pink . . . Glad you're feeling a little better. Sorry about the headache. I suffer from migraines, especially when there is a major storm threatening.
Judy . . . Every downard movement of the scale is to be welcomed. Even when it isn't as fast as we'd like, we must rejoice that the direction is correct. ;)
Josian . . . Go, girl, go. So glad you are enjoying Curves. Glad to hear the toe is doing well, too. ;)
See you all soon. :carrot:
akrosey49 05-26-2006, 02:52 PM Morning everyone..our weather has been so beautiful.. yesterday we drove 110 miles to a town called Ninilchick to pick up a lumber order for my dh addition on his cabin..its 110 miles from home.. so we headed out yesterday am and when we got there they had messed up his order so we left the trailer and came home:?: they said since it was their mistake they would reimburse us for the gas..and we can pick it up tomorrow..so on the way back we stopped at the beach and watched the fishing boats and had a picnic..let the dogs run and came home..the dh is going to get the lumber tomorrow but think i will stay home as i will have the grdd and she would be bored with the trip..meowee.. glad to see that you figured out your camera.. do u like it??..josian i luved curves too..got to expensive for me tho:?: we have our priorities and exercise is not one of mine:o sry to say..id rather craft and play bingo:D ..wtg to those who are loosing:carrot: im at a standstill again but hvent been as careful with the ww pts as i should be soooo its expected..im back to writing things down again..and that sure helps me..have a lot of errands to do today so will check in later ((((((((hugs))))))) rosey
rosettastone 05-26-2006, 06:21 PM :dust: Hi, all. Meowee, looks like you're well on your way to mastering that camera. Love your cat pix and it's great to put a name with a face too. I use the office computer which is an old windows NT without any ports (or whatever you call the connection for the camera, etc.). Boss keeps talking about upgrading but so far hasn't. I'm still twitchy about the incoming landlord which should take place today or next Tues. (Hope it's the latter.) Haven't been too bad eating wise. Will try to stay in control over the 3-day weekend. I will spend one day of it doing heavy duty cleaning I've been putting off. I'm doing okay on my exercise program. Interested to find out if I'm losing inches. Rosey -- sorry you had to give up Curves. If I remember, you were doing so well.
Have a good weekend and try to stay on program.:dust:
meowee 05-26-2006, 07:08 PM Hi again . . .
Rosey . . . Glad you are having such great weather. It was sunny here for most of the day and fairly cool . . . which is just fine with me. Sorry to say, exercise is not one of my priorities either, maybe if I didn't have constant ankle and knee pain most of the time . . . but then I'd probably find another excuse. :o You've been doing so well since you started WW . . . you'll get your groove back soon, I'm sure. ;)
Rosetta . . . Give the new landlord a chance. Maybe he's mellowing out. Try not to worry too much until he proves himself to be a . In the meantime, have a great weekend and keep doing the good stuff.
Yep, I'm having fun with the camera. When I first posted the new avatar, I thought it would be lucky if I managed to leave it there for the rest of the day . . . but I guess I'm getting used to seeing myself, or something. Now it strikes me as not too bad for 63. Hey, I've still got the haircolour that grows out of my head . . . even if I've never been all that fond of the colour. :D
Have a great evening, gang . . . Keep things moving and shaking. See you soon. :carrot:
akrosey49 05-28-2006, 02:56 PM Morning everyone.. gee we must all be busy this weekend..its been so pretty here.. and record heat for us ..it was 88 out yesterday..i was miserable.. me and hot weather dont agree.. also ive had my grdd with the last few days and she keeps me hopping..we are going to plant my deck planters today..i have been struggling with the diet..once u get off of it for any reason its harder for me to go back.. so today is a brand new day and im journaling my food and back to what i know works..nothing like a step on the scale to jerk me back to reality.. i gained 2.5 # back:mad: why is it that we gain so easy and the loosings so hard fought for :?:..hope you are all enjoying this memorial day weekend.. on our shopping trip the other day they were giving away poppies in honor of our veterans.. anice lady gave my grdd one and asked her if she knew what a veteran was.. meowee 05-28-2006, 10:19 PM Hi Rosey . . . out temps have been sneaking up there a little bit too . . . but only low 70's so far . . . but our time will come. Wow, isn't it amazing what a little slip can do. But don't you worry . . . usually the stuff that goes on fast comes off again fast when you get back on track. It'll be gone again in no time. ;) Just hang in there and keep on doing the good stuff.
It has been extremely quiet around here this weekend. Not too hard to tell that the U.S. is having a long weekend, I guess. :D
Anyway, gang, have a great holiday Monday, wherever you are and whatever you do. We, non-yanks, will just have to make do with a normal Monday. We had our turn last week. See you all soon. :carrot:

Looks like we've got our own private thread here . . . guess everybody is having a great long weekend. I'm with you, girl, fresh salmon, nothing better. Glad your GD had a fun time setting up her planters. Whatever, they grow, it will be wonderful.
To put a picture on, go to 'User CP' and then to 'Change Avatar' and at the bottom (after the little avatar samples) there is a section about getting a picture from somewhere else on your computer to post as a custom avatar. Hope to see you soon. ;)
Have a great evening, kiddo. Keep on making good choices and watching those portion sizes (not something I'm very good at). See you soon and here's a little :dust: to help us make it through the night. :carrot:
RebaR 05-29-2006, 10:48 PM Hey Y'all,
Sorry I've been MIA  ... I left Friday afternoon as soon as I got home from work and went camping:spin: ... My friend and I love to camp.:jig: We're both unattached and rather than sit home wanting to go, we load up and go... try to go once a month...ahhh....
Anyway, we headed to a park in Florida and didn't get home until tonight. We hiked Saturday and then Sunday drove down to the beach (just over an hour from the campground we were at). It was a hot weekend-mid to upper 90's  so we didn't hike as much as usual... a thunderstorm came in last night- we heard the thunder and saw the lightning as we prepared dinner, so we put the raincap back on the tent, got everything covered and headed over to the rec room at the campground to wait out the storm. This particular campground was originally part of a CCC camp and one of the original barracks is used as the office and a rec room... it's open all the time. Once the worst of the storm was over we went back to the tent and fell asleep to the rain hitting the tent... ahhhh..... it really was a great weekend...
Hope y'all had a great memorial day weekend.
Thanks to all our military personal for giving us the freedoms we have!
Reba
creations 05-30-2006, 12:53 PM Its been hot and humid,92,the last couple of days. Storms due in for the next 3 days.
Spent Sunday afternoon with our son's family at our house. Granddaughter learned about blowing bubbles and going up and down steps. She just turned 16 months and everything is new to her. She still can't have dairy and is still at 18.8 lbs.
Hope everyone had a great weekend.

meowee 05-30-2006, 01:17 PM Hope everybody had a great weekend. Wow, it sounds like there has been some very hot and very unpredictable weather around. Today is absolutely marvellous (by my standards, anyway). The sun is out and the temperature is only 17/18C (mid 60sF). Love it, love it, love it.
Reba . . . sounds like you had a great weekend, even with the storm.
Judy . . . isn't it fun to watch the little ones learn new stuff, like that.
Rosey . . . I keep meaning to ask how your daughter has been doing.
Well nothing too exciting for me. Got some laundry done and some crocheting and quiltmaking. Up early this morning with a hypo . . . first one in a while that has woken me up. Other than that things are pretty good in the BS and eating control areas. Not good in the exercise department, but heh, you all know that is not one of my strong points. :^:
Keep on doing all the good stuff, gang. See you soon.

rosettastone 05-30-2006, 10:16 PM Hi all. Just a quick drive-by. Am all stressed out. :stress: The new landlord took over yesterday. My blood sugar is way up and I see attorneys in my future. If you pray, I could use a few.
hefty1 05-31-2006, 07:34 AM my bs was 6 this morning. good luck rose. :) glen
meowee 05-31-2006, 10:22 AM See you when you get back, Josian. Keep doing the good stuff on your little trip.
Oh Rosetta . . . So sorry to hear about your stress, girl. Don't know quite what to say. Just know that I am definitely hoping for the best for you. Try to stay calm. :goodluck:
Good BS, Glen . . . Like your new avatar. Who are the people in the picture? Which one is you?
Nova Scotia is having gorgeous weather again today . . . sunny and cool . . . just the way I like it. However, I know some of the heat will work its way east pretty soon and then I'll be whining.
Sent another .6 of a pound off to ugly-pound-heaven this morning. Not exactly "rapid-weight-loss" but at least it is going in the right direction, so I'll stay happy. After all, the tortoise never promised to be fast; just persistent. :D
See you soon, gang. Here's some :dust: to help us keep moving and shaking and heading in the downward direction. :carrot:

tweetyandme 05-31-2006, 05:16 PM Okay, so i'm here. I have type-1 diabetes, and trouble losing weight. I also have trouble keeping my blood sugar below 300. I just keep gaining the pounds and i see no help for me. I really want to be a healthy weight for my future. Tha doctors say that if i don't lose the weight, then i will die within the next 3-5 years! :( You see, my cells don't seem to be absorbing most of the insulin that i am taking. Anyway, i need some support and advice on how to do the weightloss correctly if anyone can help me, that would be very nice. hugs!
~tweetyandme (Krissie) :)
meowee 05-31-2006, 06:07 PM Happy Hump Day, Sugar Babies . . . hope the day has been going fairly well.
Hi, Rosey. . . so sorry you are having a tough day. We all know they happen from time to time. Hope you get the rain and that your personal sunshine is back again tomorrow. ;)
Welcome aboard, Mercee. Glad to have you with us. You are doing well on the weight loss already. Keep it up, girl.
Welcome aboard, Krissee. Glad you found us. I know things seem pretty overwhelming right now, but you will find your groove. Josian (our most regularly posting Type I) is away today, but I'm sure she'll have good advice for you when she gets back. In the meantime, feel free to ask anything that pops into your head and we will try to come up with some answers. BTW, I hope your doctor is helping you find some ways to lose the weight rather than just singing doom and gloom at you. For example did the doctor mention that just a ten lb loss can help your insulin resistance a lot.
Obviously you've got to get those numbers down (both the BS and the weight) and the best thing I can suggest is to control your carb intake and make sure it is balanced throughout the day. Also make sure the carbs you eat are the "good" kind. You don't have to give up sugar and starch entirely but the bitter truth is you cannot go out and binge on sweets and soft drinks with your friends on a regular basis. You have to be very conscious of what you are putting in your stomach and the impact it will have on your disease.
Sorry if I'm lecturing you like the grandmother I'm old enough to be, but you sound so down I figured you needed a little 'tough love' to get you thinking in the right direction. You can do it girl. I know you can. And never forget that we are all here to help you through.
Have a good evening, gang. Keep moving and shaking and doing the good stuff and the rewards will surely come your way. See you later. :carrot:
hefty1 05-31-2006, 06:52 PM meowee that is my sister, her husband and kids. glen
akrosey49 06-01-2006, 02:46 PM Morning everyone..its gloomy here this am.. but we need the rain.. went to the greenhouse yesterday with dd and grdd.. so many beautiful flowers with big price tags:?: we have such a short growing season that we get the plants all ready blooming but they sure can be expensive..i got petunias in all colors..so today its my job to plant them all..do you find that a lot of the clerks in stores are rude?? esp the younger ones..maybe they were all having a bad day yesterday as i ran into some really rude clerks.. i used my motto tho and smiled sweetly altho id rather have beaned them between the peepers:rollpin:  :rollpin:..hope you all are having a happy day.. and send a smile even when u dont want too (((((((((hugs)))))))) rosey
meowee 06-01-2006, 06:49 PM Hi gang . . . this has not been one of my better days. Had to take the car in for a tuneup, etcetera this morning and ended up spending over 4 hours at the place.
Turns out that a family of 'hairy frogs' (AKA field mice) had taken up residence in my heater fan intake and had shorted out the fan motor. I thought the mechanic was joking when he told me this, but apparently it's not all that uncommon. :dizzy: My lovable (but overfed and useless) cats probably threw them a housewarming party. :D
When I got home I was so ravenous my normal lunch didn't fill me up so rather than overeat, I went and had a nap, so that put me even further behind . . . but at least I avoided eating a second lunch. ;)
Nice picture of the family, Glen  . . . when are you going to post one of you?
Great picture of you, Rosey:hug: . . . it's so nice to see the people we spend so much time with. Glad you practiced your smiling routine. Doing otherwise could really slow down your planting season. Hard to work on your own yard when you're in jail for ART (assaulting rude teenagers).
Have a great evening, everybody. See you soon. :carrot:
moongoddessGA 06-01-2006, 09:00 PM Hey, Another newbie here...
I'm impressed with HOW active this site is...I'm a type 2 db...overweight all my life...Never really able to lose much wt consistently...the most sucessful I've ever been with weight loss is the plan that I followed with a nutritionist back in the early 90's was HIGH CARB:o low fat..but i did lose 60 lbs on it ..which I gained back the next year. Met the man who was to be my husband and we happily both gained wt. But I kept going and am now 321..
So here I am , I tend to gain about 10 lbs every year and that WILL NOT continue...Can not!......i've never been able to lose more than 27 lbs on weight watchers. I have friends who have had gastric bypass surgery, but I just don't want to do that. It depresses me to think that I may need to do that.
I've started following the Jorge Cruise plan which is basically just like so many other plans but all nicely put in to a nice package..Eating all food groups, high veggie, sensible, eating 3 hrs apart..which I think will be very sensible with diabetes...Have lost 11 lbs in the 1st 2 wks and have increased my exercise consistently.
Feel that it would help to hear how other's are doing , what they are doing, and just be among others dealing with diabetes and health / weight issues..I always stumble around week 2 or 3 of a plan . i need all the support I can get.
Glad to be here

creations 06-01-2006, 11:19 PM Welcome Moongoddess.
You sound much like me. They all work the first week or so. Then right back to the brgining.

meowee 06-02-2006, 12:06 PM Here's a great big welcoming  for you Moodgoddess. Glad to have you with us on this journey. Tell us a little more about yourself . . . what kind of hobbies . . . what kind of medications. Stuff like that.
I was diagnosed with type II about 15 years ago. I take Glyburide, Metformin, Actos and use Insulin at bedtime. I too have been overweight (or fighting it) most of my adult life although I actually weighed 110 for about two weeks back in my twenties (when dinosaurs still roamed the earth). ;) My plan is just basically following the CDA (Canadian Diabetes Association) guidelines and translating my choices into calories and nutrients with a homegrown Excel program. Also try to keep moving and shaking, but exercise is definitely not one of my strong points. :^: My Blood glucose is fairly stable as long as I don't overdo the carbs at any one meal. Because of the bedtime insulin, I run fairly low in the AM (about 4 - 5 on the Canadian scale which is 70 - 90 in U.S. terms) and then go up over the course of the day to around the 7 - 8 (130 - 150) levels by bedtime. I'm a crafter . . . do a lot of quilting, crochet, etcetera. It's hard to eat and do handwork at the same time. ;)
Have a good day . . . Keep doing the right stuff and the rewards will surely follow. I'm sure everyone else will introduce themselves in due course. . . having a group like this really helps me stick with my good stuff. Hope it works out that way for you too.
Okay . . . everybody else . . . you have a great day too. Keep moving and shaking and heading in the great downward direction. Here's a little :dust: to help us along the way. See you all soon. :carrot:
moongoddessGA 06-02-2006, 02:02 PM More about me...I plan to get on the internet this weekend and spend some time getting to know this site and the different support forums out there.
i've been type 2 since the --gosh i think since the 90's...i always thought I was "borderline"..nice denial word..But i do have uncles and aunts on both sides of family with it as well.
I 'm on glucophage 1000 mg twice a day and Actos 45...I usually have about a 6.5 or 6.6 hgb a1c. I'm a carb a holic but .and not always the most compliant with following a good diet for my diabetes. but i'm doing better..eating fried foods like taco bell tend to run my glucoses up..
i'm usually fasting around 110's to 130...
I work at home as a nurse for an insurance company and i'm on the computer and phone ALL day long...I have to get on my "home" computer to surf the internet...
Hobbies: movies, reading, gardening when it 's not too hot, I love going to the places where you can paint pottery and then fire it...my specialty is wildly colorful gekkos for the garden..my husband is a total homebody but i like to Go and do things , but opposites attract...have 2 dogs and an ornery cat...
Looking forward this weekend to getting my haircut..it's the longest i've had it since I was about 12..it's just at my waist in the very back..time to get a few inches cut off..go shopping a little, visit my mother in law in an assisted living..and relax...I live in Georgia where it's hot and sticky , but we are having a cool front this weekend..so i may have to get some more yardwork done...
take care

~tweetyandme (Krissie) :)
Hey Tweetyandme have you tried going to a diatician. I know that I have gone to so many classes about my diabetes, not learning one thing how to control it. I am a firm believer that everybody is different. I do not know what you are trying now. But, I have noticed that it has helped me to do a low fat, low carb diet. I am able to take my medication and it works. In your case I would do low fat and almost no carbs....because your body can not digest it. Fat has a tendency to raise your glucose and causes it to stay high. I no longer eat white starchy things. Do some research on foods that raise glucose levels...even some veggies do. I am not a dietician or doctor, this is just advice from one person to the next. If you can PM me with the things you are eating like a food journal...that would be helpful. I have also joined a different sight to keep track of my food and fat...and it helps. Drink lots of water. When my suger is high I drink lots of water and sometimes go for a walk, because that lowers it as well. You might have to go for walks right after your meals to get your body going.
Best of luck...Tanya
meowee 06-03-2006, 06:09 PM Happy Saturday, Sugar Babes.
I've been having a very frustrating day with my internet connection. I'ts been behaving like the proverbial toilet seat. The weather has been dreary, too. Rainy, windy and cool. :(
Goddess . . . All any of us can do is our best, girl. Hope you have a good weekend surfing around 3FC.
Rosey . . . So sorry to hear about the back problem. Hope everything is better again soon.
Glen . . . Good BS reading, boyo. See you soon.
Tanya . . . Here's a big welcoming  for you. Good advice, too. Hope to see you around here more often.
Well, gang. I don't dare make this too long for fear the next crash is only moments away. Keep on moving and shaking and heading in the great downward direction and I'll see you all soon. Hopefully. :carrot:
tlujan1 06-04-2006, 01:12 AM Have any of you tried Beretta (I think that is the name of it) or Byetta. I am on Glucophage right now, but I am having a hard time regulating. I have decreased my meds because I am doing such a good job regulating my sugar through diet. Heres the thing, my doctor has given me the freedom to change my doses according to how I am doing. I am on WW and I also make sure I am eating balanced meals (because WW doesn't teach you that). I eat only whole grains, low fat, low carb, no processed foods, and flour. I am doing good on this. I will |
