called Diet 2006 and it has a big write up on the Sonoma Diet. I'm seriously going to try this plan because 1, I need to seriously lose weight and get my cholesterol & triglycerides down and 2, I'm so bored with cooking and the few recipes they printed in the magazine sound interesting. I think even my husband, who also could stand to lose a few pounds :o himself might enjoy the menu more.
I just wanted to pass this on. Its been quite awhile since I've been here so also wanted to say Hellooooooo:carrot:

I have been on the sonoma diet for 3 weeks now and have lost 8 pounds. The recipes are great and I stay full. I have not even followed it religiously and still have lost the weight. I was 144, now 136 trying to reach 120. It has been a really easy diet to follow and you dont feel like you are missing out on much at all. I would recommend you try it, but I would buy the book first. I just canceled my online membership. It was not worth it, there are too many glitches with the website. But the book is really good. Good luck.

Thanks for your reply. I am glad to hear its not hard to follow. I will be at the mall tomorrow and will look for the book so I can check it out. I've got to do something cause the weight won't come off the way I'm doing it now. Plus if it improves my cooking, thats another big plus.

My only concern is during the the first part of the diet and having to get all sugar out of you diet. I always drink hot chocolate when I wake up really early and won't be able to have it. I don't eat cookies and cake that much, but I do drink soda's and hot chocolate and I usually put a pinch of sugar in my spaghetti sauce and won't be able to. Any suggestions or tips would be appreciated..barb

Well, I've not really read much about it yet, can you use sweetner in this plan? My MIL swears by Splenda as a sweetner being closest to tasting like sugar. I use Sweet N Low so sugar isn't an issue to me except for loving chocolate.
I hardly know anything about this plan yet so I'm definetly not an authority. Maybe someone else has ideas. I am getting sweaty thinking about doing without my beloved chocolate.

She really recommends no sugar or artifical sweeteners for the first 10 days. Many of us have real issues with sugar (like an addiction) and need to get it out of our system and this is the only way to do it. After that, small quantities of honey and we are speculating that she probably wouldn't have a problem with Stevia (also a natural product) would probably be okay. Also in Wave 2, very limited amounts of bittersweet chocolate are allowed. In general, the goal is to learn to enjoy the natural sweetness of foods, particularly fruits.
