View Full Version : Fibro #24
Happy Canuk 06-11-2001, 01:42 AM Hello everyone. Hope you all had a great weekend.
Tootie - are you flooding out there? I read that there were mudslides etc. Hope that isn't affecting you. When you get a minute post and let us know you are ok.
Meme - What can I say, except I am right there with you! Takes sooooo long to take it off and only a little while to put it back on! What a yoyo!! I am my own worst enemy.
Candice - I now know you are back, but tell us how your trip was. I hope that you are not having a flare from it.
Mima and Joanna - How did you like the wholewheat pasta? You two don't sound like you are to much overweight - good for you. I might have to breakdown and go to weightwatchers. Didn't do it because it hadn't worked for me the last time I tried it. The program is totally different so I might have to give it a chance. My daughter has lost 58 pounds and looks absolutely wonderful.
Ally - Let those two sweat it out a bit. It won't hurt them. Also, it is good for them to see you cry. They need to know that you have feelings as well. Me, I take anything for quite a long time, and them look out. I just yell, get it out, get over it and get on with it. Works for me:lol:
So, we didn't get any rain until last week, and now the darn tap won't shut off. Not raining all the time, but so dull. I NEED THE SUN!!! The farmer's still want lots more. But a little sun in between would do me just fine.
My daughter and granddaughter were here for the weekend. Always enjoy that little one, and my daughter has recovered quite well from her surgery. She went back to work last week. I will post a picture of my little sweetheart soon.
MemeToo 06-11-2001, 04:31 AM I'm sooooo sick...gotta do SOMETHING!!! Can't stand this pain much longer!
Something cute: Daughter painted the little one's toes for the first time last night...bright red! (she's only 2) Said she put sandals on her for church this morning so Jenna goes in church and sticks her little foot out for everone she met and said, "See, petty toes!"
I'm going on a diet BIG TIME tomorrow!!!
Candicej 06-11-2001, 04:50 AM Stupid...meme you are not..crazy, well ..we all know you are!
Mima..I'm doing WW..It's been a year now.
Anne...can't wait to see the pictures.
Ally..the sun bothers me too, I have to have my sunglasses on and a hat or visor.
Toots..ya got your lifejacket handy! Thought of you when I saw the news.
I have been in the yard again and low on energy..there is just so much to do, I never know when to rest!
Meme, my brother gave me PaintShopPro:) No time to use it yet!
I haven't tried the pasta yet because of my wheat allergy-I cheat on that when I am not stuffed up.Am still feeling good fibro wise. Going to a health fair today and getting bone density done.My mother had severe osteoporosis. And weighing in. I'll let you know.Have a great day.Mima
Joanne D 06-11-2001, 11:07 AM Hi and Goodmorning Everybody
Happy Canuk - I tried the pasta and it was ok . I did spend a little extra time in the bathroom the next day. I am not sure if that is a plus or minas??? Give WW a try . I went to WW 3 years ago and lost 57 lbs. I have maintained pretty well. I put on a few and have been in the process of trying to get back down to 145 for a couple years. I think my body likes where it is. But I think that at least I have stayed at my allowed wt for WW with the trying. It sure isn't easy.
Tootie- I feel for you,but if you want you can send some of that rain to Florida. We sure do need it. Stay safe!
Candicej Thanks for the pictures of your garden. It reminds me of what I need to do in mine. It is so hot though so I usually end up at my Quilt rack. instead. :p
Memetoo- Hope you feel better soon.:)
Bye for now--Joanne:)
MemeToo 06-11-2001, 12:54 PM Thanks Joanne...I started on a no calorie diet today so I should start to feel better soon.
I'm going out to eat lunch with my daughter in a little while...it is so hard to eat out when dieting. But we are going to a Tai place where I can just get a plate of chicken and rice...should be ok if I just eat half and then not much dinner. I'm going to stop somewhere on the way home and pick up some extra fruit, too. If I can eat fruits, salads, chicken, fish and rice for a couple of weeks (and drink water and green tea) I can drop about 10 pounds fast. It isn't easy though!
Candice...you'll love paint shop pro. That's what I use to make all my background sets and crop pictures, etc. I've been using it for a year and a half now and still don't know 1/2 of what it can do!!! I've been wanting to get into making my own animated gifs but don't have the time. Talk about so much to do. I'm keeping a 2 yr. old and 4 yr. old 10-11 hrs. a day, I have 12 piano students every week (3 students a night 4 nights a week) so that means I teach until nearly 8 because they don't pick the kids up until nearly 6. Then I have all the housework (full basement, too, where I teach), cooking, shopping, laundry, my mom (biggest pain of all!), the rest of my family (kids and 2 more grandkids and hubby, etc.) and my web sites take a lot of time, and of course there is Sammy...she takes a lot of my time, too. Her hair is soooo long...it takes forever to groom her now. And bathing her takes forever, too. For those of you who don't know...she is my golden retriever...I think I posted a pic. on the other thread. She just turned 1 yr. old last week so is bigger than the pic. now. Sometimes I feel so overwhelmed with stuff I just want to run away from home. My problem is, the whole family would have to go with me!!!
Oh well...I guess the alternative would be no life ... might be ok for awhile!
Happy Canuk 06-11-2001, 02:17 PM Meme, what can I say, that I haven't already said a thousand times. SLOW DOWN. You make me tired just reading your post:D I do hope that some of the pain is going away, so you can get on with your crazy life in the fast lane. It must be very difficult to do when you are seized up:s: Take care, my friend.
Joanna - never thought about the pasta being that much more fiborous, but I guess it is. As I said, may give ww another try.
Candice - Your garden is beautiful. I am sure it is lots of work, and creates lots of pain for you, but like I told Meme, what can I say. :p
Mima - It is so great to hear from someone who is not having a bad fibro day. I,myself, have been a little worse, as the humidity has been so high. I did really well in the first part of the spring because it was dry here.
Ally - Try the wholewheat pasta. Joanna says she had a few extra trips to the bathroom after eating it:lol:
I guess Tootie must be busy. You that live in the US, can you tell me if it is still going on and how serious it was? We hear a bit about it, but not like you would.
I am going to try a new chiropractic procedure today. A couple of ladies from Clouds have been doing this and have had great results. The Chiro. specializes in Upper Cervical Procedures. They have lost a lot of the pain from shoulders, arms, ets. Will let you know how it turns out. You can go have a look at the website if you want to. It is www.uppercervical.org Go to About us and read it. It is interesting.
Hope you all have a great, painfree day.
Happy Canuk 06-11-2001, 08:17 PM http://www.brensplace.com/cards/lightinstorm.htm
Go and enjoy
Ally0306 06-11-2001, 09:06 PM Happy...What a nice poem, and the music is still playing.
I haven't had that "luck" with wheat pasta. My metabolism has to be the slowest there is. I need all that extra fruit and veggies thru out the day to just do a normal number two.
Add wheat pasta and I don't notice anything new.
Now I can't remember who posted about WW....Mima?
And then Meme and her ten pounds in a few weeks.
I don't know girls, I expected to be feeling really fine byt now and I thought I would be walking off ten pounds this summer.
No such luck. Lots of aches and pains.
Is it the rain, the nasty nasty winter, the fact that I'm getting old???
I still walk over an hour total a day. Twice at work on break, lunch and then after dinner. But, not all at once. I can only walk for 20 minutes and then poop out.
And not exactly power walking either.
I don't want to starve right now either. I feel like I am eating just enough. But no weight loss.
Boo hoo.
Hi everyone! The good news is that I lost 3.2 lbs at WW. Of course, I wore jeans and a sweatshirt LAST week! But I know that is good and I love the choices. At the meetings, we discuss low point desserts. Are we carb addicts or what!!!!!Also, I had my cholesterol done at the Health Fair and it went down 11 points and my good choesterol went up. It's already nice and high.
I do hurt today from my water exercise class-I guess I'll have to go to the easier one. The ugly is that my bone density test showed medium bone loss.I put a call into my gp. I know they have meds now-I am on 5mg prednisone -maybe I need to stop it. Like I said before-my mom had severe osteo and broke bones just brathing. Although she drank, smoked , and took high doses of pred. for rheumatoid arthritis. I take 1400 mg. of calcium but I do have the milk allergy so maybe it's not being absorbed. Also-HRT and vitamin D and walk. I'd like to walk today but my hips are killing me-maybe later. I AM WHINING!!!!!!which I do before I accept. I guess everyone has stuff to deal with.
Hope it stops raining in Texas. I guess some of it is coming up here. Talk soon. Mima
Joanne D 06-12-2001, 09:41 AM Happy Canuk-- What a nice way to start the day!!! Thank You for the card. I sent to my sister and daughter.
I ate my way through the day yesterday, Today I will do better. All you girls pray for me as I will you. Joanne
Happy Canuk 06-12-2001, 11:56 PM or are you just to busy to come chat on the board. Candice, where are you? Are you still sore or played out from your trip, or what. Come tell us what you did!
Meme - Where are you? Going to lost 10 pounds in 2 weeks. Without starving. Good for you. Hope you are feeling better.
Mima - Good for you with your weight loss. To about about the bone density test, however. I had one in January, and everything was fine. Sorry to hear that you are a hurting along with the rest of us.
Joanna - Had a little eating fit, did you:lol: Well, that happens to all of us. I have to pull my socks up and get back at it.
Ally - So what if you don't lose as long as you feel good, that is the main thing. I am not talking about the pain of fm, just general health.
Phyllis - Come out and talk to us. I am getting worried about you. HOpe you are doing ok.
I posted this great long message (Candice, you will probably be glad I LOST the whole thing).
I am going to tell you about my trip to this chiro that specializes in Upper Cervical Procedure. It is so great. I had my first treatment today. This is not like a regular chiro. No twisting, or manipulation at all. He only works on the first vertibra, where the brain stem goes into the spinal column. It is painless and just takes a few minutes. HOwever, yesterday, I spent an hour with him, while he did x-rays of that area, and measurements. No treatment yesterday because he needs to see the x-rays and be exact when he does the procedure. After the treatment he did more measurements and another x-ray. He did not touch my lower back and it feels the best it has felt in years. Hope it holds until Friday, when I go for another treatment. There will be 26 total. Also, the pain in my shoulders and arms has decreased immensely. If you want to read about it, it is in a post I did a couple of days ago. Just glad to feel no pain for awhile.
MemeToo 06-13-2001, 02:15 AM That picture made me hungry!!!
I'll have to ask my daughter about that chiro thing when she gets back from Baltimore...see if she knows anything about it. She goes to the chiro every week or so. I don't have time to go!!!
Still hurting...still haven't gotten my meds and still haven't gotten my shot. It has been 4 1/2 weeks now...supposed to get the shot every three. Dr. office put a trace on the med they ordered last Mon. and it has been sent...don't know where it is though!
Wild kids today and too much pain to deal with them!
Candicej 06-13-2001, 02:34 AM So has the humidity and hot weather! I can't work outisde..Boo Hoo:( If my energy comes back I will try to do some work inside maybe the fish tank..it needs cleaning, new filter and stuff. Oh the kitchen floor needs scrubbed too! Maybe Meme will come clean my house in her spare time!
Anne....we shopped and shopped and shopped my mom just did not tire out this time! I'll have some pictures of family soon, maybe if they are good. I will post them! Loved the lighthouse and the poem! Thanks..you find such nice things to share:)..be gald when my email is working right again!
I quit going to the Chiro cause it hurt too much!
I'm trying Chondrotin right now.......
Meme..0 calories........wish all food had 0 calories!:) on WW there is 0 points food!
Ally...so you are full of S*** is that what you are saying!LOL
Joanne and Mima are you both on WW?
Tootie are you keeping your head above water?
Hi-feeling a little better today. I'm going to ask my chiro about that cervical manipulation-that seems like it goes along with that surgery that was on the news a while back saying that some fibro was caused by a defect in that part of the spine. We are so desperate.Just when I think I've found a way to feel minimally pain free-it comes back. Like the water exercise. I still go but it always seem like I injure some part of my body.I hurt my shoulder doing Yoga ending in rotator cuff surgery.I did do some of the stretching last night and that seemed to help.Still haven't heard from my doctor about how to handle the bone loss.
Joanne-I am on Weight Watchers for the second week.
Going to Trader Joe's to find some low calorie foods that have calcium.Have a great day everyone and R-E-L-A-X. Mima:^:
Joanne D 06-13-2001, 10:30 AM Candicej- You do have some nice spots in your yard... I say one of your pictures the other day and got inspired. I went out and pulled weeds in one of my spots until I could hardly get up. The ants came out in full force to chase me away. My husband got out of the rocking chair to get the Andro and said it was time to quit. I did get most of the weeds out of that area but have not had the courage to go back yet.We have had so little rain this year that it is hardly worthwhile to plant anything. This area has a serious water shortage. Your flowers are lovely. Thank You.
Happy Canuk- A eating fit is not the half of it. I get bored too easy ,I guess. Opra had a good show on yesterday- I need to find Dr Phills book.on weight and diet. I don't know the title though. I missed that part.:(
It looks like all you girls are going to a chrio. Not me. I used to go with my mother when I was younger. Her yelling and screaming scared me to death. My son went to one a few times before he messed with his neck and he was in real trouble for awhile. I'll stick with a regular M.D.I take Chondrotin too. It seemed to help. I also had the injections to the back a few years ago. They helped. The Dr. said all that was left was surgery. I said to heck with that and lost 57 lbs with WW. That helped too. They do have a good program. I no longer go to meetings. I use my own ways and you guys. I just felt if I could not do it on my own I had not learned a thing.I try to walk 3 miles every day.
Enough of this and that.I don't want to bore you.
I got to try and have a productive day- wash the dishes-pick up around the house- feed the hubby - do some sewing- read a little
:p .. I'M RETIRED! Oh Yes ,I go to the beach almost every evening for my walk and then sit there and watch the sun set and water
Love You All.....Joanne:)
Well-I went to the chiro this am and asked about that manipulation Happy as talking about. He said anytime you work on that area it will make a difference-anyhow he did and also ny back and I can't tell you how good it feels. I made a committment to go once a week. Luckily my insurance pays 80%.I also signed up for Tai Chi at the senior center. We'll see how that goes.
Went to Trader joe's -got some great things I can eat on a diet with food allergies increasing the calcium. They had tons of whole wheat stuff. Tjhey have a phone number 1-800-shoptjs to find out where they are located. Great prices too.I wonder if they are in Florida. \ \Also the chiro said the osteo score wasn't too bad. Anyhow I'm going to increase the calcium in my diet besides supplements and walk more. Golfing tomorrow.First time in a year.I love the flower pictures!!!!Mima
Happy Canuk 06-13-2001, 01:36 PM This Upper Cervical Procedure is NOT a chiropractic treatment! He does nothing other than apply a bit (a very little bit) of pressure to the side of your neck. It is painless. There is no manipulation, only the moving of the top vertebra where the brainstem joins the spinal column. It is completely different than anything I have ever had done, and I have never, ever heard of it before. There are very few who practice it, as it is additional years of school. Thebest way to learn about it, is to go read about it on the website. It is at
http://www.uppercervical.org/
A couple of others on Clouds, which is located at
www.tidelweb.com/fms
have had great results. They are doing things they haven't done in years, and miracuously, the FM pain is leaving. One has had pain for 22 years the other 8 years, and they are experiencing great things. You can go there and read about it. Go to the General FM forum. Gabriella and Shirl and me Annewin are the ones who have just done it. The others have now had a few treatments. This has helped me like NO other chiropractic treatment. I was very skeptical, because I have o/a in the facet joints; also, one of my legs is about 3/4 shorter than the other. This is what he straightens out, by releasing the pressure on the nerves at the top of the spinal column.
Sorry to go on and on about it, but I think we owe it to ourselves to find out the most we can and the things that help. I have tries just about everyother thing there is to try, so why not one more. You just never know! I will keep you informed as to how I continue to feel. I go again on Friday.
In the meantime, Mima, I am glad that you got some pain relief from the Chiro. I know if it had not been for them, I would not be moving around like I have been. I don't believe we have that Trader's store in Canada. I have never heard of it before.
Joana - I have never heard anyone scream at the Chiro. How many years ago was that ? I think they may have changed a great deal by now! Anyway, each to their own. I hope when the ants came out to visit, they didn't decide to crawl on you(lol) I don't garden. Haven't been able to bend over for years or sit in the same position or any of the things that you have to do to garden, plus the fact that I don't like it!!!
Ally and Phyllis - hope you two are having a good day. I sure wish Tootie would come tell us how she is.
:?:
Joanne D 06-13-2001, 03:36 PM Happy Canuk-- It was over 50 yrs ago that I went with my mother-- I am sure that things have changed-- I was a nurse for 37 yrs and even with all my schooling it did not change my thinking about them.Just one of my phobias. I hope that they can help you though... Joanne
Happy Canuk 06-13-2001, 04:04 PM Serious Ailment?
I'm writing you to let you know that I have
recently been diagnosed with a serious condition and
there's no hope I will ever get over it. It may be
hereditary as well. The scientific world is frantically
searching for a cure. This is an ailment many of us suffer
from and may not as yet have been diagnosed. However,
now you may be able to discuss it with your
loved ones and try to explain what really happened to you
all those times you tried so hard to accomplish
something and didn't it's called the "Butfirst Syndrome."
It's like when I decide to do the laundry -
I start down the hall and notice the newspaper on
the table. Okay, I'm going to do the laundry -
Butfirst I'm going to read the newspaper.
After that, I notice the mail on the table. Okay, I'll
just put the newspaper in the recycle stack,
Butfirst, I'll look through that pile of
mail and see if there are any bills to be paid. Now
where's the checkbook? Oops! There's the empty glass
from yesterday on the coffee table. I'm going to
look for that checkbook,
Butfirst I need to put the glass in the
sink. I head for the kitchen, look out the window, notice
my poor flowers need a drink of water. I put the
glass in the sink, and darn it, there's the remote for
the TV on the kitchen counter. What's it doing here? I'll
just put it away, Butfirst I need to water those plants. Head
for door and Ack! Stepped on the dog, Dog needs to be
fed. Okay, I'll put that remote away and water the plants.
Butfirst I need to feed the dog.
At the end of day; Laundry is not done,
newspapers are still on the floor, glass is still in the
sink, bills are unpaid, checkbook is still missing, and
the dog ate the remote control. AND, when I try to
figure out how come nothing got done all day, I'm
baffled, because I KNOW I was BUSY ALL DAY!
I realize this condition is serious...and I
should get help.
Butfirst I think I'll read all my email!
Have any of you developed this disease? I have! Maybe we should start a
support group, Butfirst I need to ............
MemeToo 06-13-2001, 04:22 PM I think I was born with that one!!! Everytime I go into a room I see something "else" that need to be done and by the time I do that I forgot what I originally went in there for!
I've been waiting for over a week to get my gold shot...finally got it today. I've had a problem getting the solganal this time...the liquid med for the shot. I was supposed to get a shot Saturday before last but the solganal just came in today. I had to go to a new clinic to get the shot as we changed insurance companies and my Dr. is no longer covered on the new policy. It has been a nightmare getting all this straightened out and I did without the shot for over a month so I'm feeling really awful plus, just getting that shot will make my blood count drop and I'll be so tired by the weekend I won't feel like moving and we're having a BD party for my mother-in-law here Sun. (she'll be 80).
My mother is driving me nuts! I called her yesterday morning and told her I might have to go pick up my medicine and go to the clinic and get my shot and asked her if she'd go with me. She said yes. I told her the med. might not even come in but the Dr. had put a trace on it and it was supposedly in the mail. I told her, too, that I'd call her and give her plenty of notice before I went IF I even had to go. Then about an hour and a half later she called me back and said, "I'm ready to go, are you ready?" I asked her what the heck she was talking about and she said she was all dressed and was ready to go to Cookeville for me to get my shot! I had to explain all that to her again and then she got mad. So today I called her and told her the medicine had come in and I had to go and asked her if she could go watch the kids while I did all that and she said no that she hadn't had a bowel movement in 2 days and she might have to go to the bathroom. I said, well did you take a laxative or something. And she said no but you never know!!! She just didn't want to go!!! So...I wound up having to Cookeville and pick up the medicine then go to a new clinic and have a check up with a new Dr. and then have my blood drawn and get my shot...all with a 2 yr. old and a 4 yr. old in tow!!! Do you have any idea how hard that was? I AM SOOOO MAD! I'm just not even going to ask her anymore. If I can't do what I have to do with the kids along I'll make other arrangements with my d-i-l or m-i-l or something. I would have called my daughter today and had her take off of a couple of hours and keep them but she is in Balitmore all week. D-I-L is gone somewhere and I hated to ask hubby's mom on such short notice. I'm just so tired of dealing with my mother ... nobody but my hubby and daughter has a clue as to what all I put up with from her! Well...didn't mean to run on so...sorry!!! And thanks for "listening"! Sometimes I just need to gripe a little!
Happy Canuk 06-13-2001, 04:38 PM Meme. This is the right place to gripe. It saves the ears of those whole live with us. Hope you feel better soon - it has been awhile. This little graphic is just for you.
That was agreat stor about butfirst. i certainly can identify with that. I'm going to check out the website now. I tried the other one but couldn't get any info. I'll tr again.Bye
Joanne D 06-13-2001, 09:46 PM Happy Canuk-- I love your butt first tale!!I am sure that everyone of us can relate to it. I said today ,I had retired. Not really . I work harder than ever now that I am home. And a lot of it is buttfirst.
Memetoo - I know just what you mean about mothers. Several years ago I was dealing with a mother and a mother-in-law. I am still not sure which was worse. They both were difficult. We finally put the mother-in-law in a nursing home. and you know it didn't get any easier. My husband had slept at his mothers house for almost 5 years untill he couldn't stand it anymore. They both took up most of my time and my sisters. At the same time my sister-in-law was in the last stages of breast cancer. God must have thought we had had enough and they both(mothers) passed away within a month of each other. My sister-in-law passed away a year before. My brother-in -law passed away from brain cancer 30 days later. Hang in there . This too will pass. I hope you don't think bad of me for being relieved. It was awful.
I hope you all have a great night. Joanne
Ally0306 06-13-2001, 10:05 PM Wow...you guys have been talking up a storm, and I would respond to you individually, butfirst I can't remember what any of you said!!!!!
Chiros. No...I haven't tried one. Do you think it would do any good with muscles? The pain is in my legs, but on a bad muscle day my energy is at an all time low.
Today it is 84 degrees and humid here.
I couldn't wait for nice warm weather after that painful ugly winter, but this is not helping!!!
I am sluggish and achy.
Where can you live and have 72 degrees, sunny and no humidity all the time???
Had a terrible couple of days with my monster teen twins. Probably the nasty things they said last week just keep haunting me.
Anyone else have twins or know of any?
My kids live in their own world. They sometimes even echo what each other says. It is hard to be their audience.
I had such a bad day with them yesterday that I ate a turkey sub for dinner.
I haven't been buying take-out food. I may have to do that once in a while cause it is sure too hot to cook.
MemeToo 06-14-2001, 02:59 AM Anne...thanks for the angel. Sometimes I think I am running too fast. I just said to myself tonight ENOUGH (I have to shout...I don't listen so good sometimes!) I didn't go to church...stayed home are rested and I then did something unthinkable...I cancelled a mystery shopping job I had set up for Saturday!!! They probably won't call me again but I DON'T CARE!!! I need my Saturdays to rest!
Joanne...no...I don't think you are bad, I'd probably feel relieved, too. My mother has done things like this to me my whole life so I don't know why it still upsets me!!! I don't have too much trouble with my M-I-L. I'm sure I will if she (or hubby's dad) ever get to where they can't take care of themselves because I have a sister-in-law straight from H E L L!!! And they only have the 2 boys so I'm sure it will fall my lot to care for them (and my mother, too as I am now an only child!) So I still have all that to look forward to! Hey Anne...does your offer to come live with you still stand???
I called all the Chiro's here that will accept my ins. but none of them are open on Saturday so guess I'll just have to suffer since I can't go any other time! My daughter got me a certificate for a 1 hr. massage for my BD last month and wants me to go with her on her BD Sat. after next and use it (she has one, too). The Therapies they offer are 1) Deep Tissue Massage 2)Relaxation Massage 3)Shiatsu 3)Reiki 4)MyoFascial Release 5)CranioSacral Therapy 6)Lymphatic Drainage Massage 7)Acupressure and 8)Neuromuscular. Do any of you know anything at all about any of these or have you had any? I know NOTHING about any of them execpt I know what a massage is and I know what acupressure is.
Ally...want to run away to Hawaii with me???
I go for massage once a month and I know she starts of with reike and than she massages with pressure depending on what state my bodies in. I tell her what hurts and she works on that area. She teaches Feldenkraus which is about posture and how it affects your body . I'm still hurting today and I'm playing golf today.
I had a mother that was so hard to deal with. She got sick at 50 with very painful rheumatoid arthritis and I helped take care of her til she went into the nursing home at 76. She gave in to her pain and took lots of meds so she taught me how not to take care of pain.My friends say they don't know that I'm in pain so I must be doing a good job. Now you guys have to hear how much pain I'm in.
It's super hot here but I like it like that. Florida is hot and dry in Feb. and March when I'm there but not now. I guess you have to travel from place to place to get the best weather.
HAVE A GREAT DAY EVERYONE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Joanne D 06-14-2001, 10:44 AM Hello --Needless to say we all have our own set of problems. We have to deal with them in many ways. Me , I eat and try to escape to another place. Fat chance!!:s:
It was in the 90's here in Florida yesterday. We are all hoping for rain. We will even take a good storm!!
Tootie -Hope the water in Tx. has gone down and you are doing O.K.
You all have the best day ever. See you later...Joanne
Happy Canuk 06-14-2001, 11:02 AM Hope you are all doing better today.
Mima - Did your chiro treatment help? Is it the fm giving you trouble. Have a great golf game. I wish I had some of that nice warm weather. It is overcast here, and tomorrow it is supposed to rain all day. Feel better.
Meme- Massage :) love it. I have a Deep Tissue Massage and it helps. Shiatsu hurts like hell. I DON'T think you want that. I had it once and I was even bruised from it. Reiki, never had it, but I just read an article on it yesterday. It is very relaxing - it is known as the laying of hands (warm sensation ) That Myofascial Release and Cranio Sacral Therapies have been taked about on the Clouds forum. They seem to work. Acupressure will probably be uncomfortable, as they work on pressure points. That is all I know! Just go and enjoy your massage. If looking for a Chiro, the type I went to is called a NUCCA chiro.
Joanna - Of course nobody thinks any less of you. Why should we? That was a horrible period of time to live through. Not good at the best of times, so it must have been very draining. I never had 'mom' problems, so I don't really identify with that, but my Mom had Alzheimers Disease and it was a horrible thing to watch. She passed away 5 years ago, and there is not a day that goes by that I don't miss her terribly. She had a great life however. The Alzheimers didn't really affect her seriously until she was 78, and she passed away at 81.
Ally - I only had the two kids and they are 7 years apart. One at a time was enough for me!! My cousin had twin boys a year older than my son. They all grew up together. These twins did have their own little world, as they never needed anyone else. They always had them:lol: My son always needed someone to play with. They are now 27, married and well adjusted boys. Always were extremely hard workers as well. They are exact opposites - One is right handed the other left handed and they function kind of like a whole when they are together. Both are now married and one has a little girl born this year. These boys were both really easy going, and my cousin really had no trouble with them. One was much stronger willed that the other, but still fairly easy. It will be ok - Who said growing up was easy:?:
Where the heck is Candice????
Phyllis is ok. Got an e-mail from her today. She can read the board but can't reply. Hi Phyllis. Stay well, and hope you start feeling better soon. Pain is not a good friend.
Well ladies, have a nice day.
MemeToo 06-14-2001, 11:55 AM Mima...that's what we do...listen to each other gripe. Sometimes I really do go on too much but I don't have any other release!!! It helps to vent!!!
Anne, thanks for the rundown. I did a little searching on some of the above massages last night on the internet and have about decided to have them do a Neuromuscular for the first one. I think I may do this as a regular thing! I'd like to try several of them!
Phyllis...hope you are not "swimming"!!! Have you dried out yet? How's the new baby?
In a lot of pain today...usually hurt more before getting better right after my shot...then tomorrow is Methotrexate night, oh joy!
Hey Candice, I hope you aren't sitting at home waiting for me to come clean your house!!!
Candace-that picture is beautiful! When I look at my pictures sometimes I see my mother's face when she was in her 70's. Basically she was very pretty but aged as we all do.
Played golf-had a wonderful time! Don't hurt anymore than I usually do!So why not have fun. The chiro helped relax everything but then it came back. He has helped me so much in the past that I will go every week. One time he used acupuncture on my upper back and that was the only time I had relief from 2 years of pain from an auto accident.
Going swimming in my girlfriend's pool this afternoon. It's 90 again but Allison is going to be here Sat. night with rain. Sorry about more rain in Texas. Have a great day everyone.Mima
Happy Canuk 06-15-2001, 08:49 PM Mima - good for you. It is great that you can keep so active. Sure wish I could. Maybe after a few treatments. I would just like to be able to get through the day!
Candice - You still look like a kid. Keep working it probably is good for the morale if not the body!
Phyllis - Hi. Still can't get on here to post? To bad, we miss you.
Ally - hope you have a nice weekend
Joanna - same to you
Meme - Hope you start to feel better. Won't all this stuff your taking kick in an help soon? It makes my head swim just thinking about taking all those meds:dizzy: I take very little - only when I can't stand it and I can stand a lot (lol)
Well everyone, have a nice weekend. Hope it doesn't rain on those who don't want it and hope it rains on those who need it.
This photo is of my granddaughter Ashley. She just turned 3 in April.
Candicej 06-16-2001, 02:32 AM Anne, she is adorable and looks so sweet and good natured! Just like her grandma! :)
Mima, I think the same thing when I look in the mirror, and some of my reactions and thoughts remind me of my mom too! Oh no! I'm turning into my mother!
Mom didn't really seem to age untill she quit eating( she doesn't remember to eat due to the alzheimers), I forget to eat when I'm busy!
Went to the rock pile by the old RR tracks and picked up some rocks for my flower beds..that's about it today I was to tired after being up all night to do anything else!
I used to play golf but it hurt my back..my son is still a golfer! I liked the walking part of it as long as it was cool! I was a better putter than driver.
Hi everyone-the weather
is going to change here-doesn't help the fibro but I went swimming for a bit yesterday. Used to a 90 degree pool at the Y and this one was about 72 but then sitting around with friends is more fun. Reminded me of Florida!!!!
I spent yesterday morning trying to paste a newsletter to edit and e-mail back to the editor. (Iwas volunteered). After hours of frustration my daughter came over and we tried together. It pasted on my Windows page!!!!!!!!!Then I was able to send it to Works and edit and e-mail back. I was so happy!!!When I got home I had a message from the editor and I gues he couldn't open it. !!!!!!Back to the drawing board. I really should take a computer course. At least I found you people.
I love those pictures!!!Will send one soon.Mima
Candicej 06-17-2001, 03:58 AM Mima..I would be hurting all over, I have to have a warm pool or I spasm!
I dropped a brick on my bare toes! Ouch!
Where is everyone?
My veggie garden as you see it looking out my kitchen window.
Joanne D 06-17-2001, 09:41 AM Good Morning- Candicej Your veggie garden is a picture for Home and Garden. Very Nice! I got busy yesterday and have a good start with my flowers. I am sorry that I don't have a scanner so I can't show everyone my yard in Florida. We are working on it. It looks better than it did a few years ago. We will never beat the weeds or bugs. But that 's Florida.
Everybody must be busy with Fathers Day. My hubby was up early starting the lawn watering. We must get a timer on that pump. Or he may get killed some morning when he turns on the alarm and forgets to turn it off when he gets up early!
See you all later. Joanne:angel:
Hi everyone-remants of Allison are here-got soaked going to church.Challenge tonight-going to a Chinese restaurant and I have to weigh in tomorrow. SODIUM! Oh well-I know I've been good. Love that garden! Not much to say today-almost nap time.Have fun-Mima
Candicej 06-18-2001, 05:37 AM Joanne......why woud your Dh get killed turning on the alarm??????????:?: I don't have a scanner either but get my film develpoed online then I can store it on my puter. Photoworks.com is where I send it, they do nice work!
Mima...Chinese resturant..haven't been to one of those since I started WW a year ago! There stuff is loaded with hidden fat and sodium:eek:..good luck on your weigh in! I love Chinese food and used to eat it all the time thinking it was so healthy..well some of it is I guess, you just have to watch, any suggestions for me?
Here is a picture of some flowers that came back from seed on there own!:)
Hello-I was careful at the restaurant and I had saved lots of points but it has to be the worst place for WW. I was so bloated and uncomfortable when I left. I also ate fruit for dessert and I don't combine fruit with anything usually-thanks to Suzanne Somers-I learned a good lesson.
Happy-going to the chiro again and I'm bringing a printout from that website you recommended. I'll see what he has to say.
My fuschia plant is hanging on by a thread out on the balcony.Any suggestions.
, Joanne ? Have a good day everyone. Mima
Joanne D 06-18-2001, 10:47 AM Good Morning-Candicej- I think that there is only one way to wake up in the morning . Quietly not with rock and roll or what ever a radio is playing. I am not the docile housewife untill I have my first cup of coffee(now decaf, since the dr.said no more caffien)My husband says "don't mess with her till she is good and awake". One of my many little things to work on . I guess someday I will change. In another lifetime.
mima- I don't know too much about Fuschia but when my impatiens look sad I cut them back and they aways come back nice and full and bloom again. Sometimes I have to repot and gibe a little food to them.
I hope everyone had a great weekend. My son cooked,,, Shrimp on the grill ,pasta ,salad. I ate too much and was afraid to get on the scale today. :o . He is not Married and half hearted looking. He will make someone happy someday. I hope.
Bye for now- Joanne:wave:
MemeToo 06-18-2001, 10:51 AM Hi everybody...the board has been busy!!!
I pulled a muscle in my right arm yesterday (just reaching behind me for something) and I'm only functioning at half level today (brainwise, too!!!) I'm soooo tired. Had the whole clan over for FD yesterday. We went to the early service at church so I had to get up before 6 to get everything done then the song director asked me to stay and play for the late service, too...I didn't get to leave until after the singing part...nearly 11:30 then had to fly home and get dinner on the table. I'm exhausted...will probably take me all week to recouperate from the weekend. Why do we do that to ourselves? Or am I the only one who does?
Candice...the flowers and garden are gorgeous...I've had surgery on both knees so can't work outside anymore. I used to have all kinds of stuff in the yard in Michigan but that was before surgery, arthritis and fibro!!! I have quite a few flowers and blooming shrubs around the front and back porches but what little care they get comes from hubby! About that Photoworks place...I have a question. After you send them your film, do you get actual "pictures" back in addition to them being put on a web site or do you just get the internet ones? Is it more expensive? And, Do they develope Advantage Film? (Guess that was THREE questions, wasn't it?) :D
Hope you all have a good day and a wonderful week. I'd settle for a little rest!!!
Happy Canuk 06-18-2001, 12:58 PM What a busy weekend. We went to my daughters (she was having a garage sale) and I also had to go to a wedding shower. We left home at 7:00 a.m. and got to my daughters at 9:30 a.m., then I looked after my granddaughter until 11:30, when my husband decided that I needed to go to the shower(didn't start until 2:00). So I went and visited and helped. Worked out ok. Didn't get back to my daughters until 6:00 p.m. Had some pizza for supper(that crew had ordered it in after the garage sale) We then went visiting Saturday evening and got home after midnight. Then my little granddaughter woke us up at 6:15 a.m., so there started a whole new day. Went out for breakfast, over to my aunt's house(hubby installed ceiling fan for them) and then my son came and we went out for dinner. I am still full and don't even want to think about eating today. Didn't even overdo it at the restaurants. Go back home, to our house at 7:30 p.m. last night.
My chiro treatments seem to be holding. My back was sore on Saturday night, after all that sitting. I will never be able to sit or stand for any great length of time, because the muscles by now are just week. Also, because of the back surgery that I had, he will probably not be able to bring my spine back to a 'normal' position, but it certainly feels a LOT more comfortable. And a lot of the fibro pain has disappeared as well.
Mima- Chinese food! Like some of it, but it never fails, when I eat it, I end up not feeling well at all. MSG and stuff that they put in it. So I try to stay away from it. I bet I haven't had any for 2-3 years now. Good luck on you weigh-in. It probably wouldn't hurt anything, as you were pretty active during the week.
Joanna - Sounds like your son may be a good catch. Cooks! My son does that too, but not often. When he took food studies at school, he always won the top award. I suggested that he become a Chef, but that was the wrong thing to say! He would have made a great Chef, as he would have had people around to clean up after him! I thought I was a messy cook, but nothing like that one:lol:
Meme - REST.
Ally and Phyllis - hope you two had a great weekend. I don't know if we are going to get nice warm weather or not. It stays around 65, and has been really cloudy. We really needed the rain we finally got, and can use more, but I NEED SOME SUNSHINE:cool:
Joanne D 06-18-2001, 03:21 PM Happy Canuk=I like your image .That's me in the morning. Yes my son is a good catch. He is a design Arch. making good money. Has his own home etc. Wish He would find the perfect women he is looking for. Joanne
Happy Canuk 06-18-2001, 07:09 PM I really liked this and just wanted to pass it on.
INSTALLING LOVE
Customer Service Rep (CS Rep): Yes, Ma'am, how can I help you today?
Customer: Well, after much consideration, I've decided to install love. Can
you guide me through the process?
CS Rep: Yes, I can help you. Are you ready to proceed?
Customer: Well, I'm not very technical, but I think I'm ready to install
now. What do I do first?
CS Rep: The first step is to open your HEART. Have you located your HEART
ma'am?
Customer: Yes I have, but there are several other programs running right
now. Is it okay to install while they are running?
CS Rep: What programs are running ma'am?
Customer: Let's see, I have PAST-HURT.EXE, LOW-ESTEEM.EXE,GRUDGE.EXE, and
RESENTMENT.COM running right now.
CS Rep: No problem. LOVE will gradually erase PAST-HURT.EXE from your
current operating system. It may remain in your permanent memory, but it
will no longer disrupt other programs. LOVE will eventually overwrite
LOW-ESTEEM.EXE with a module of its own called HIGH-ESTEEM.EXE. However,
you have to completely turn off GRUDGE.EXE and RESENTMENT.COM. Those
programs prevent LOVE from being properly installed. Can you turn those
off ma'am?
Customer: I don't know how to turn them off. Can you tell me how?
CS Rep: My pleasure. Go to your Start Menu and invoke FORGIVENESS.EXE. Do
this as many times as necessary until GRUDGE.EXE and RESENTMENT.COM have
been completely erased.
Customer: Okay, done. LOVE has started installing itself automatically. Is
that normal?
CS Rep: Yes. You should receive a message that says it will reinstall for
the life of your HEART. Do you see that message?
Customer: Yes I do. Is it completely installed?
CS Rep: Yes, but remember that you have only the base program. You need to
begin connecting to other HEARTs in order to get the upgrades.
Customer: Oops. I have an error message already. What should I do?
CS Rep: What does the message say?
Customer: It says "ERROR 412 - PROGRAM NOT RUN ON INTERNAL COMPONENTS."
What does that mean?
CS Rep: Don't worry ma'am, that's a common problem. It means that the LOVE
program is set up to run on external HEARTS but has not yet been run on
your HEART. It is one of those complicated programming things, but in
non-technical terms it means you have to "LOVE" your own machine before it
can "LOVE" others.
Customer: So what should I do?
CS Rep: Can you pull down the directory called "SELF-ACCEPTANCE"?
Customer: Yes, I have it.
CS Rep: Excellent. You're getting good at this.
Customer: Thank you
CS Rep: You're welcome. Click on the following files and then copy them to
the "MYHEART" directory: FORGIVE-SELF.DOC, REALIZE-WORTH.TXT, and
ACKNOWLEDGE-LIMITATIONS.DOC. The system will overwrite any conflicting
files and begin patching any faulty programming. Also, you need to delete
VERBOSE-SELF-CRITIC.EXE from all directories, and then empty your recycle
bin afterwards to make sure it is completely gone and never comes back.
Customer: Got it. Hey! My HEART is filling up with new files. SMILE.MPG is
playing on my monitor right now and it shows that PEACE.EXE, and
CONTENTMENT.COM are copying themselves all over my HEART. Is this normal?
CS Rep: Sometimes. For others it takes a while, but eventually everything
gets downloaded at the proper time. So, LOVE is installed and running. You
should be able to handle it from here. One more thing before I go.
Customer: Yes?
CS Rep: LOVE is freeware. Be sure to give it and its various modules to
everybody you meet. They will in turn share it with other people and they
will return some similarly cool modules back to you.
Customer: I will. Thanks for your help. By the way, what's your name?
CS Rep: You can call me the Divine Cardiologist, also known as The Great
Physician, but most call me God. Most people feel all they need is an
annual check-up to stay heart-healthy, but the manufacturer (Me) suggests a
schedule of daily maintenance for maximum efficiency. Put another way, keep
in touch.
Ally0306 06-18-2001, 09:19 PM Wow...busy weekend here. I took a break and didn't go near the computer or any housework for that matter. That was nice, but now I can't see the TV cause of the dust...
Candice....just put a baby in front of you and you look barely 21. That's why I LIKE teens, I can hide behind them when the cameras come out..... But that's about the only thing great about them. Schools out. One kid has a job (yes!) and the other still hobbling around on crutches. He seems to like this idleness though.
Meme...I always get bloated and uncomfortable after Chinese, even if I take it easy. Gotta be the preservatives.
Tootie...If you are reading, howdy. Hope the weather isn't hot like it is here. My thighs keep sticking together.
Thats what a bunch of us were talking about today. The bad things about summer when you aren't thin any more. One lady says she has to wear pants or skorts cause her thighs rub together without pantyhose.
I just being powder to work. Always smell like a baby.
I started walking the stairs at work instead of an afternoon walk. Realize I have no thigh muscles anymore. Oh, gee. After 5 minutes, thought I would pass out.
How do you create muscles when you are over 40 and have fibro?
Oh forgive me Joanne and Mima. I read what you say and forget it two seconds later. It will take me time.
Glad you are on board, and I will pay better attention next time.
Candicej 06-19-2001, 07:33 AM I think I'm part vampire!!!!!!!!!!
Meme..You can call 1-800-746-8696 or go to photoworks.com to get your questions answered. You pay for a regular developing of pictures and get an index print(and regular pictures) and then they put them on the net for free. 1 roll is 7.00 and I ususally get a CD too(that is 5 extra) and up to the high resoulution scan. shipping is 1.50, don't know about the advantage film, they do panoramic and pre-loaded camera. I really like it, just got my pictures back in the mail today. They are really fast at getting them on the net about two days is all it takes. I can share them with family really fast!:)
Hello, Anne, Ally Tootie, Mima and Joanne:wave:
Goodmorning to all-a beautiful day here. I am going to the Y for my last class-taking a break for the summer when I can go to my girlfriends pool-oh yes-the town pool is also in walking distance.
I went to WW and I was down .8-not that great but in the right direction. Then I blew it-had a brownie and ice cream-not even something I'm supposed to eat. I will be good today. My daughter borrowed my car so I had to walk yesterday so that was good.
Happy-you write the best stuff. Can I put that in a newsletter? And how do I do it. Oh yeah-chiro wasn't impressed with the info about the cervical procedure but he has helped me with what he does. We'll see. That doesn't mean it doesn't work. And it does go along with some surgery they were doing on people with fibro that was on national news.
Well-bye for now!!!Mima
Joanne D 06-19-2001, 10:03 AM Good Morning- Mema -Candicej -Ally- Happy Canuk-- I ate too much over the weekend and finally got the nerve to get on the scale ,4 up. Times like this we want to shoot ourselves. Oh Well, no use boo hooing.
I wish sometimes I had a pool but my husband says "you have the Gulf of Mexico down the road". I seldom go down there and go in. It's not all that clean looking to me. Go out a couple miles and the water is really nice. Too many people and they are not that careful with what God has given them.
I walked my 3 miles+ yesterday. I do that every day. But it is really hot now. Got to go before I get too boring... Have the best day ever...Joanne
Happy Canuk 06-19-2001, 10:32 AM Nice picture Candice.
Mima - you can copy and paste it. Start highlighting from the point you wish to copy(hold down the left mouse key and drag it) until you come to the point you wish to quit. Right Click and click copy. Now take it to wherever you are doing the newsletter and click on where you want to put it. Now Right Click, and click paste. Then edit it. If you got stuff you don't want, just delete it.
Good job on your weightloss Mima.
Hope that helps.
Joanne - I know what you mean about the water. I live at a lake where thousands of people come (our population goes from 7,000 to 35,000 on hot days) and I won't go in the water. Firstly, unlike the Gulf of Mexico, it is WAY to cold for this old gal! and second, I don't like the stuff on the edge. If you just walk out a couple of feet it is fine (I think), but I don't want to. I get enjoyment from the lake, just looking at it. It is a beautiful place.
Joanne, I also agree with you. There is only one way to wake up, and that is not with an alarm. Hate them, and I asked my husband not to play that stupid radio in the morning - just use the alarm. It is to annoying!!!!
Ally - Good for your son, getting a job. I suppose the other will, once he gets back to normal. Wouldn't it be hard to get a job, with a cast on? Unless, of course, it is a job selling crutches
Well, I guess we can take solace in the face that most people start to put on a little weight after the age of 40. The only thing is, that it seems to keep increasing if we don't do something about it.
Meme - hope your feeling b etter today. Pulling muscles is so painful.
Tootie - if your reading the board Hi.
Happy Canuk 06-19-2001, 04:45 PM Interview with God. The photos are nothing short of spectacular. I believe Candice sent this to me originally. I thought I would share it on this board.
http://www.dbtech.net/umc/flash.html
Candicej 06-20-2001, 03:20 AM So I better try to get to bed early!
Anne..love the pond picture! Peaceful and so colorful..bright and cheery that's what we need!
Hi everyone-it's going to be hot again and I am taking my weekly walk with my aunt-she is 78 and I'm the one who shortens the walk. Then we go to lunchand have soup and a drink-I mean a drink drink. then I go home and take a nap.Maybe no soup today.
Made a great WW dessert. No sugar jello mixed with n0-fat yogurt poured over fruit at the bottom of a pie plate. Strawberries works great-I can't eat them so I used mandarin oranges.Topped with no fat cool whip. 1/4 of a pie is about 3 pts.Good for the summer.
Someone told me I looked like I lost weight!!!!!!!
Bye for now.Mima
Joanne D 06-20-2001, 10:16 AM Good Morning - Happy Canuk My husband thinks he can do anything he wants. When he gets that radio on his head some day he will find out. I was up at 5 am for the last 15 yrs when I was working in nursing. On the floor getting report at 6.30 from night shift. I don't need to wake up with an alarm. I told him there is nothing so important since we are retired to wake up that early. :p I think your pool is realy nice. I thought about putting in one in my front yard but, I am afrain the it would be more upkeep than I would like.
I am going to see my daughter. Back in a few days. Everyone keep well - Joanne
Happy Canuk 06-20-2001, 08:03 PM This is kind of good, because unfortunatley, it is tooooo true.
http://www.geocities.com/HotSprings/Villa/5998/page13.html
enjoy
Joanne, have a nice visit with your daughter
Mima, that dessert sounds fantastic. Used to make something similar when I went to ww years and years ago. It is delicious.
Meme - are you doing ok? At least post and gripe abit so we know you are ok!
Candice - you keep plying us with those beautiful pictures. The gardens certainly are lovely. Worth the work (and pain????) Perhaps.
Ally - Hello
Phyllis - if you are reading, Hi to you. Hope you are feeling ok.
Ally0306 06-20-2001, 10:09 PM Hi guys...I am NOT going to make is thru this summer. My kids are already fighting and throwing things and making these hot nights seem never ending.
Happy, I still have music playing from that poem. Where DO you find these things?
It is PMS time for me. Last nite I hit the Klondike ice cream bars and tonight it was.......Little Debbie donuts. That is desperation. I wanted more ice cream bars but they are in the freezer on the back porch......where my kids are.
IT is bad enough when they locate the Little Debbie wrappers...dont' need to have them catch me in the freezer.
I really hoped for a pain free summer. ANd it is not happening.
I may have overdone it with the stair climbing at work. And it is not my thighs, it is my calves. That is the only place I DO have muscles. I found another thigh exercise where you keep getting up out of a chair with weights in your hands.
I could do......one.
Heat wave replaced by pending thunderstorms. Wierd weather year.
MemeToo 06-21-2001, 01:50 AM I'm starting a new thread...too much here to download.
