Jennifer, thanks for creating this forum, I think it will be a great help to anyone that is PG, thinking of it, or nursing.

Hi Dana, I'm a moderator on the 30-Something's thread, but I think this is a great idea for a forum. Congrats on your new baby! Congrats on nursing also!! You are doing such a great thing for your little one! Did you also nurse your DD? I nursed DS#1 for 12.5 months, til we were both ready to stop. It was really hard, due to latching issues with him, and jaundice in the beginning...the Dr. made me pump formula into him, and then I always had a bad supply, so I had to supplement. DS#2 was also jaundice, but they were more supportive of nursing as much as possible. No supply issues so far this time, but I have been nursing exclusively now. I have to go back to work tomorrow though, so we'll see what pumping does to my supply.

I have a new baby boy too, Robby, he's 9w2d. I have been working myself up to starting back on a weight loss plan, probably WW, since that's what I've done in the past. I don't seem to have much willpower right now though. :(

Any other PG/Nursing moms out there?

Hi all!

I'm a bit more than 9 weeks pregnant. I'm nursing my 13-month-old, and weaned my older daughter about a week before her third birthday. (So the line in my sig that says I'm constantly nursing is no joke! ;)) I tandem-nursed the girls for a while & will probably tandem nurse this time too. Yeah, I'm that insane.

I try not to pay attention to my weight while I'm pregnant. I will worry about that when it's time to lose again. My weight loss ticker dates to before I got knocked up. :)

I'm expecting #1 and boy I have to agree with Dana. I worked so hard on losing 40 pounds last year that watching my belly get bigger, even though the weight isn't going up that much, SUCKS!

I TOTALLY agree with Dana and you Kim... I lost 76 lbs last year, and have put quite a bit back on. I feel horrible! I can't wait till I can get back on a diet. I've tried to eat the right things while being pregnant but I have really strong cravings and just cannot help myself. I know I can do it again, after the baby. I try not to worry too much. My husband tells me I still look beautiful, but when I put my maternity clothes on, all I see is MOO- MOO... no more flat belly, my unberable boobs are BACK and bigger than ever and I am out of breath!!! UGH! I will breastfeed definitely.|

This is a great idea! I am almost 17 weeks now. ALMOST... HALF...WAY... THERE....

Hi Gretchen, Kimberlie & Sabra! Congrats on all your losses (sp?)!! I lost about 20 lbs. on WW before I met my DH...got lazy and comfy since then. I didn't concern myself too much with the weight while PG with #1, but did eat good, followed the Bradley diet as best I could. I gained 29 lbs. with him, but lost it within 2 wks. of delivery. With #2, I pretty much ate whatever I felt like, and it really wasnt' good, but I only gained 9 lbs.! I was up to 16 lbs., but then I started losing in the last month or so. My MW wasn't concerned though, because everything was fine with baby.

I'm kind of low on willpower lately, but have quite a bit of motivation, so hopefully that will win over. DH is getting serious too, so maybe if we support each other, we can do it.

Regarding the belly while PG, I have to say, I honestly loved watching my belly grow, because there was a wonderful reason for it! It was great showing off my PG belly (with clothes on, that is!)

Heh, Dana, with a little luck your younger is just going through a growth spurt. Bobbie, my older, was a cluster-nurser. She'd nurse just a little bit, maybe five or ten minutes, and then be right back in an hour or two for more.

When my girls were very young, I used to wake up all the time during the night to check on them. I'd sleep with my hand on a little tummy. I hated the hospital 'cause they wouldn't let me sleep with the girls in my bed (not that I think it would have been too safe in a hospital bed), & I had c-sections, so every time I woke up to check on them I'd have to wake up, raise my bed, turn on the light, and then check on the baby. :stress: So much easier at home where I could just open my eyes and look at them!

What a great forum and such good timing too! I just found out that I'm pregnant last week. I want to continue to eat healthy and carefully, as well as continue to exercise. I don't want to gain too much extra weight, because it's just that much more weight to lose after the pg. Looking forward to knowing everyone better!

Wow! This is a great forum! I usually am on Housewives losing weight thread but had to take a look! Thanks Suzanne! I am Roxy, Mom to 10 children. Yes, I am that old! I have 4 boys and 6 girls. My last one is 11 months old and we are still BF successfully, he is eating a bit (of other food now) and I am still losing. I have always found it hard to lose weight while BF because I was constantly hungry. I am slowly, starting my struggle to lose ALL the babyfat I accumulated over the years. I really think I shall do it this time, all these gals are so great. I found by eliminating the "white" carbs from my diet and exercising I can reduce. Even if I don't lose quite as fast as others do. If you have any questions about BF or pregancy don't hesitate to ask, More than likely I've been there and done it already! ;)

I have a 2 year old and a 4 month old, and have got to get this extra weight off. Am nursing the little one. Any advice would be appreciated!

Hi - I'm almost 21 weeks and so far have gained about 23 pounds. I'm pretty freaked about it, and I want to limit the rest of my weight gain. I've put on a lot of the weight in my hips and thighs, so I know this is not all baby :(

On the other hand, I am thrilled beyond belief that I am pregnant, and I know this weight gain is for the good of the baby, and it will be worth it in the end :)

Thanks for having this forum.

Heck, I've put on 40 pounds at 7 months. But it's ALL baby. My danged stomach hangs so far out there. Sheesh! I'm having a whole basketball team. Curves showed a 1" gain on my thighs and arms; however, it was a different location, so I think the difference lies in how they each measured, because no one else can tell that I've gained anywhere else and stuff still fits there. It's hard buying maternity clothes that will go around the belly and not fall off my shoulders or expose my chest. I wore a small shirt before, now I have to get the large maternity tops to fit the belly, but then they don't fit me up top. ::sigh:: Two more months, two more months. LOL

So how is the WW working for you? Is it hard to do the meal plans and stuff in addition to taking care of a baby? I am considering doing WW at home but I am wondering if it would end up being too complicated with having little ones and stuff to care for; any tips??

Thanks for any advice! :p

It is hard at times... I stick to simple recipes and stuff. The hardest part for me is getting away to enter points... my toddler is going through major seperation anxiety and not allowed in the comp. room, so even if daddy is trying to distract him he sits by the door and cries so I have to make mental notes and enter it during his nap or after he goes down. Besides that it hasn't been to bad though.

Hi everyone, I'm 11 weeks pregnant with child #3. Before finding out I was pregnant, I lost 46 lbs doing LAWL. I've since gained back 12 of those lbs and I've lost my will power to eat healthy and exercise. I'm feeling so crappy lately that I usually just eat what I'm craving.

I believe most of my weight gain came from retaining water when I started drinking regular juice and caffeine free pop again. I had previously cut all of that out of my diet, and I was drinking strictly water. However, I can't stand water at the moment! I was drinking 132 oz per day. And my diet consists mostly of carbs, something that was also limited with the LAWL diet.

I'm hoping I'll start feeling better when this first trimester comes to an end, so I can go back to most of my healthy eating habits. Any ideas or suggestions of some good substitutes I can use? What have your physicians told you about sugar substitutes? I'm not sure about the safey of them, so I'm staying away from them for now. I'm also in the process of switching OB's because I didn't like the attitude that mine had. She did tell me that I could use them, but she also advised me to exercise 30 mins a day 7 days a week. While I did have a pretty nice workout schedule before I started slacking, I'm lucky enough to make it to work, and back home, and do everything else in between that I need to complete (because I feel so crappy). I mean, I'm having a baby, not training for a marathon.

So any advice or suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

Hello all... I'm new here and I am a nursing mom to a 10mo boy. I also have a 6yo girl and a 3yo girl. I am a single mother also. oh yeah... and a student! LOL Yeah... I'm nuts.

So this is my goal: I want to get down to a reasonable weight for summer... like maybe 190? and then keep going until I hit 160. When I get there I will see how I feel about taking it down to 145. So far I have lost 2lbs. I have read the weighdown diet book and like it for the most part... it has alot of things I can see as common sense. I also have the Power90 work out vids from AGES ago... yeah... count 'em.... 4 yrs. SO I will be incorperating both of those into my life. I am also on the Challenge thread.

My challenges are:
A: Read my scriptures 15mins personal study, 15mins family study (Level 2)
B: Work my Power90 video 6-on/1-off plan (Level 3)
C: Drink 2 quarts of water daily = 2 big water bottles (Level 2)

Well I hope to get to know you all soon!!!!! Belly rubs to you mommas!

i had a baby three months ago, and am nursing. i talked to my doctor the other day, and she told me to try and keep my calorie intake around 1800 calories. you burn between 200-500 cal a day breast feeding. i am using fitday.com to count my calories. it is also nice, because i can make sure i am getting enough vitamins and nutrients so diego has good, healthy breast milk. good luck!

Hi. I am new to this site, but so happy I found it. I am 28 wks pregnant and really struggling with my weight. I gained a lot of weight while bf my daughter. I weaned her at 20 months. I had just started to get back into shape (even started jogging again), when I found out I was pregnant with baby #3 (a total surprise after needing fertility treatments for 1 and 2).
I feel so huge and disgusting right now. And I haven't been eating well at all. Chocolate is my trigger food, and the only thing I want to eat right now. Even when I do make positive steps, it is so hard to see any changes because of my huge stomach. I've also put on a lot of weight on my hips and back.
I'd like to start making better eating choices, get back on track, be healthy again. I need a place to come to be accountable. I hope this is the right place.

Heather, when I first found out I was pregnant, I completely stopped exercising and eating right. That lasted about 3 weeks before I asked myself what I was doing. It's hard to stay motivated to keep eating right and exercising when you're going to gain weight no matter what you do. But I kept up the motivation by reminding myself that not only would the exercise help me have a healthy baby and pregnancy, as would the eating right, but I would continue my habits so that once the baby did come, I would be able to lose the pregnancy weight again.

BTW, I hear chocolate's good for you. LOL

Hello everyone! I am the mommy to 3 little girls, Alexandria (7), Eryka (6) and Jocelyn (3)...Kerridwen will be born in May...my due date for her is the 19th.

Funny story this pregnancy....

I was completely unaware I was pregnant till my 21st week when I felt her moving. I had been on birth control ( I have 2 BC babies now) and losing weight (Lost 45 pounds from 8/05 to 12/05 from exotic dancing and sensible eating) then it plateaued for a bit..till I realized I was pregnant.

So now, I am 33 weeks along, and have gained about 12 pounds so far. I am eating healthy, but the doctors are still monitoring me...which I think is weird becasue I am bloody overweight...not like I need to gain 30 pounds on top of that.

I am planning to breast-feed, aside from being the best nutrition for the baby, and the cheapest, it does help your body kinda bounce back a little, so maybe I can get back into my dancing.

I have upped my caloric intake by about 300-500 more a day than I was taking...so Im getting roughly 2000. After the baby, I can drop that a little and maintain a good diet while promoting weight loss. Supposedly.

When I first fouind out about the baby, I was actually kinda mad in a selfish way. I had worked so hard and now I was gonna blow it becasue of pregnancy. Usually...i gain all of my weight AFTER the baby is born.

Anyone recommend anything?

I didn't see an intro forum, so I'll introduce myself here since I am nursing.

I'm Melanie. My dh is Kevin. We have 2 kids, Calvin (5) and Heather (4 mos).

I've been overweight since I was eight (I'm 38 now) and fat since I was 19. I haven't been below 200 lbs since I was 21 and then it was only 198. I've tried numerous diets and exercise programs. I know so much about nutrition that I could probably write a book. However, all that knowledge has not helped me to lose weight. I know what to do, I just don't know how to make myself stick to it. My kids inspire me to try again for several reasons.
1) To be able to keep up with them.
2) I want to be here to watch them grow up.
3) I want to set a good example for them.

I'm nursing my baby girl right now. I tried starting a diet/exercise program when she was 2 mos and I just couldn't make it work. I was always starving and I noticed a dip in my milk supply. Now that she is 4 mos, I'm going to try again.

I've been poking around the site and I am really inspired by the success I have seen here. This seems like a great place. :D

I'm not sure how I missed this place. Anyway, I am Angela. I have two boys Brantley - 3 and Jonathan 3 months. I plan on nursing for the entire first year. So far I have done very well with my weight loss. Gained 33 and have lost 43. I have been walking 2 miles most days. I am getting my double stroller today!!! I just watch what I eat and make sure to drink plenty of water.

Hey there, I am not new to 3FC, but I am new here. I had my DD 2 2/3 years ago. I am still tring to lose the weight. I was 183 and quickly lost down to around 160 then I tetter tottered there for the next two years until around august. I have now lost 15lbs, and have 15 left to goal.

Now DH wants another baby, (I do too) But I have to be honest and say, I am terrified of putting the weight back on. I gained 70! last time. Its not about looks. When my baby was born, it was all I could do to change her diaper. The extra weight was too much for me, and my back would ache terribly.

SO this time around, I want to start @ my original weight, (15 more to go!!)and only gain the 25 or 30 that your supposed to.

I am on WW, and am eating 20points. Will I be able to stay on ww through the pregnancy, and how many points would I add? And if anyone here know, what is the number of points someone get if they are 135 and maintaining?

Thanks so much :)

Hi, I am new to this forum, and I wanted to introduce myself. I am currently nursing a 5 month old baby boy (my angel) belonging to My fiance' and I. I have three kids from a previous relationship, all who were also breast fed. My fiance' has a son from a previous also, but he calls me momma, because i am the only one he has ever known. All in all, am a happy person, but I am struggling to lose weight after giving birth. It seems so hard to do while breastfeeding because I am always hungry and can never seem to find time to exersize. My baby is pretty demanding and likes to have all attention on him. If not, he wails!! I am not at all upset about this, because, after all, they are only babies once! So, I guess I need a little support from people who have been here, done this lol! Hope to hear from you guys! :goodvibes
