I'm up 2 pounds!
Hope everyone else is doing better!
~misty
I'm up almost 3 lbs Misty so don't feel bad, we're in the same boat this week. I had a few very bad eating days and also I"m approaching TOM, I feel so bloated so I"m praying that it is mostly water. Still though I need to crack down on my eating. It was really out of hand this week. I wasn't even going to weigh in this morning as I knew I was up and I didn't really want to face it but something else happened this morning to upset me so I figured I might as well get hit with everything at once. Anyway I am having a healthy breakfast and then heading to the gym after I drop my son off at daycare. See you later!

Hello! Gosh, I spaced this thread for quite a while now, haven't I? How's everyone doing? Congrats on 1derland Misty - awesome! I'm down to 162.5 now, a loss of 7 lbs. since starting. (I don't know what I've lost on a week-to-week basis). I'm running a lot still. I did my first 10k (6.2 miles) run last week in 1:08. I've really recommitted myself for the last week and am doing really well right now. Motivation is high. I can't believe Bootcamp is already a third of the way over. Summer is almost here! Gosh, summer IS almost here - only 14 or so weeks away!

Welcome back, Jenicra! Congrats on the 7 pounds!!!! And on your 10k!!! I've added your 7 pounds to our running total.
Jen-Don't sweat the gain, I'm not.
It's been a super stessful day. The kids I watch had a cold, and my family had a cold and it seems we've swapped colds, as we have the symptoms of thier cold and they have the ones of ours. So Ben has had a fever, won't sleep won't eat, which left me up all night b/c DH took nyquil and was OUT! Got up at 5:15, there was no point in trying to sleep til 5:30. The kids are all grumpy, and not listening b/c they are all sick. Not fun. But we did make a cake from scratch, and a batch of homemade choc icecream, not that I can eat it, but it is the little boy's 2nd b-day today. We'll have a bit of a party later. I'm hoping they all get good naps in.
Have a good one all!

Last night was one of the worst nights I've had! It could have been much worse I realize. After a very stressful day I was very tired and went to bed kind of early. Dh stayed up n the couch kind of snoozing. He went out fed his cows and came to bed. At about 3:30 I smelled something burning, I got up came down stair and found a box of tissues had gotten pushed onto the furnace! We have those old floor furnaces that have large grates that get super hot, not like forced air. Well these tissues were smoldering. Either dh knocked them onto the furnace from the couch not realzing it in his nyquil induced haze or the cats did. The down stairs was full of smoke, the alarms didn't go off, we just changed the batteries this fall. I pull them off the furnace and put them in the sink and ran water on the box. AJ's bed room is just above the furnace, so she was coughing when I went back to bed. We brought her into bed with us, and we've been up since. Ben actually only got up once during the night so I could of had some decent sleep.
My head is screaming from the smell and lack of sleep. AJ is miserable. Thank God I woke up though or my house would have burnt down. Maybe this will encourage DH to reconsider forced air or another heating system if and when we remodel. Maybe we'll just MOVE!
So I am going to try real hard to make it through the day in a calm manner, without a total eating break down. We're all sick, tired and worn out! I never thought I was an emotional eater until recently. I guess I am.
have a great day everyone
~misty
wow, what a night!!! Lucky that you woke up or it could have been pretty bad. Let's just count your blessings instead of thinking about what might have happened. After that I think you deserve a big bowl of the most fattening ice cream there is!
BTW you might want to check what kind of smoke detectors you have. Actually the name smoke detector is misleading because some of them are more like heat detectors. I had something burn in the oven really bad one time and the house was filled with smoke and none of the detectors upstairs went off. We have a detector just off the kitchen that will go off whenever something burns in the oven but again I think it might be a combination of heat and smoke. If your detectors are old you might want to replace them with newer models. Just my 2 cents.
Well I hope you are able to get some rest and air the house out. Get a bottle of that fabric spray (Febreeze?) and just spray down everything.
Talk to you later. Jen

Hey ladies,
I see that everyone is doing great. Misty I hope you get some much deserved rest today. I know that scared the crap out of you. But thank god that you woke up in time. Biut anyway lets talk about something more enlightning. It seems as if Misty and Jen are the only ones still committed. Well girls you are not alone, I am back in the saddle. Last week was a REALLY bad week for me it was that TOM and I ate everything I could shovel into my mouth. So I think its safe to say that I sabotaged my 3 pound weight loss, but this is a new week and Babt i am back. I worked out this morning for about a hour and fifteen minutes, im snacking on carrots as I type, and I brought a lean cuisine to eat in between my classes. So im off to a goos start.
Let me ask you guys a question. Everytime that i start to lose weight, the first week I can lose a pound or two but the next week I am so haapy that I lost weight, I slack off and gain it back. This happens every single time. That is why I can't lose more that 3 or four pounds. How do I train myself to stick with it forever.

I'm really sorry to hear about your horrible night, Misty. That must be so frightening. Just try to stay in control today, and I think you can count it as a wash.
MissMcCoy - I hear you on the lose a little, gain a little strategy - I was doing that from mid-November to the beginning of March - I am finally back to losing again. Sometimes you've got to just push through something like that by losing more than you are gaining back. I really don't have much advice, but that you should stick to it and try to work on whatever it is that makes you gain back what you've lost.

Hey everyone!
I'm sorry to hear about everyones weight gain recently.. and i Laugh because i gianed a few back just these past couple days... how odd! Well, im goign to re-read the UWL book again. I'm getting off track and my excercise... well, What excercise?? ahh... at least I have a sence of humor about it. I need to get my butt in gear and stop sabatoging myself. I have found some great rewards thoguh so far because of my weight loss- one of the many is that I can cross my legs without looking like a idiot because my one leg doesnt cross fully over the other! ahh.. the simple pleasures in life.
Well thats all! Keep smiling :) Perhaps re-read the book!
m. mcoy - I sometimes do the same thing, lose a couple of lbs then gain it right back. I guess somewhere in the back of my brain I figure that I need a reward for losing weight and I reward myself with slacking off and of course gain back that weight. I figure it is that or I am trying to do too much at once, change too many behaviours and then I am doing a sub conscious rebellion by going back to my old habits. Right now I would be so happy to lose 1 lbs a week and keep it off without yo-yoing between the same 3-4 lbs.

Hey all!
Thanks for all the support. I think it's time for new smoke dectors, these ones were here when we moved in so who knows how old they are. Main thing is everyone is safe and we'll get to catch up on sleep tonight.....I HOPE! I had a horrible eating day, the kids were all tired and grumpy and sick again today. The weather was gorgeous, if everyone had been healthier I would have liked to go outside today. But the kids I watch never bring shoes. They get here in thier pj's and so they don't have shoes on. I'll have to remind thier mom to bring them, kids need to play outside.
BTW Jen I loved the ABC teach site you posted. Thanks!!
Miss McCoy I completley understand what you mean about sabotaging yourself. I did it all day today. I even think to my self I shouldn't eat this then I think "I don't care". Some tricks I have heard are:
Put inspiring pictures up on you fridge and cupboards or car whereever you eat without thinking(these can be a healthier you you'd like to regain, or one from your highest),
Dr. Phil's no fail environment,
Find an anchor, a physical object you see, that reminds you of your goal, carry it with you or place it in a prominant place,
Journal, journal, journal (make sure to write down even the junky stuff you eat and own that you ate it making you more conscious of eating it, write about how you felt before during and after, be honest but don't beat yourself up),
Plan ahead make sure to include healthy snacks
Truthfully I can't tell you how these work, b/c I'm in the same boat as you and don't stick to it. I'm going to try the anchor as I said in my recent post about my necklace, and I think the pictures. I'd really like to post the pictures around my house, but my inlaws walk in without knocking all the time and I don't know if I want them to see them b/c they will pick on me. My biggest thing is when I feel like I am going to go off course I come here and post. Often the urge to binge or even just have a small snack I shouldn't passes while I type. It makes me conscious of my action when I do eat anyway.
Well I've been awake since 3:30 am. DH is way sicker than I am so I'll probably let him go to bed when he comes in from feeding cows. Then as soon as AJ hits the sack I will too, pending Ben is still sleeping. Hopefully that gets me in Bed by 10. So I guess I nee dto go find some dinner foreveryone :) Have a great night all!
I am also going to recommit to the challenge this week. I went away on vacation two weeks ago and since them have not been able to stick to anything. This week though I am determined to follow through especially since I have gained 3 lbs.
bev
I'm being a stubborn old mule and an idiot but I just don't feel like going to the gym today. I'm tired and sore and just feel like lying in bed feeling depressed. I've no idea why, just being silly probably. I think I'm out of sorts because my son went on a field trip with his daycare this morning and I had to get him up and ready early and it disrupted my usual routine. I'm whining I know, I'm sorry. Here I have all this extra time that I don't usually have and I'm frittering it away by whining. I've got about a million things I could be doing and I'm just looking for ways not to do anything. :(
Well I've got some laundry to put away and the usual tidying up and then I'm going to force myself to get to the gym though I might not do the same workout I've been doing, maybe I'll be a bit easy on myself today but once I get there I might change my mind though at this point it may be a miracle if I in fact get there.
Misty - hope that you got a good night's sleep and are feeling better this morning. I had really strange dreams last night so I think that has added to me feeling out of sorts.
Take care all, have a great day!

I guess I am just not ready for the boot camp. I have set a date though: March 24th.
It is the day after my friends fly back to WI. Spring break will be over. I will not be working, and will have time for the gym. YAY
ok - I just wanted to say hey to everyone on here and I hope that you all are doing well!
Good luck!

Jen I totaly know what you mean! I could just curl right back in bed and sleep the day away. Sad thing is my husband is doing just that. But he's sick. I hope you can perk up and enjoy your day, if not enjoy loafing around that's fun too LOL!
Welcome Back Bev! How was your vacation?
Krista- I think I know what you mean about not ebing ready. I haven't really committed the way I should have. You are welcome to continue to post and we're here for Support. I'm sure there will be new trheads and challenges after this one.
Well I'm going to go see if DH is alive up there LOL HAve agood one all!
~misty
I didn't get to the gym today after all. I found myself a project to keep me occupied at home til I had to go to work but I will for sure go tomorrow and do both cardio and weights.
You know, just because this thread is titled Oprah's bootcamp doesn't mean ya'll can't just come here and post. I've been barely following the program as she's got it but so what?? It helps me to come here and find support with everyone and that's what it is all about. One of these days it will totally click with me and I'll follow it much, much better but I'm not gonna put my weight loss effort on hold until then. I honestly don't think anyone is really ready for just about anything in life, we just have to do the best we can with what we've got. So just jump in whenever and post and get and give support!! Nuff said.

I couldn't have said it better JEN!!!!!!!!!! Thanks!
:) :p OH LOOK! little leprechan smilies:) Happy St. Patricks day everyone!! Enjoy your day! I'm going to go lay down until the kids get here, their Dad is dropping them off so I might get 20 minutes. I am so sick, they are so sick, my kids are so sick, it sounds like a TB ward in here with a bunch of Darth Vadar breathers LOL! BYES for now!
~misty
Happy St. Patricks day everyone. Foodwise yesterday didn't go so well, though I did exercise. Today is starting out to be better. I had a breakfast that was on plan plus I exercised. I know that watching the white stuff works for me, I losed 6 pounds before I went on vacation. SO I just have to get back on track to lose the extra weight I gained while on vacation.

Don't sweat it ANgel I just ate McDonald's for lunch (and it wasn't a salad)!
The little boy I watch fell of his trike and burnt his arm on that d@#n floor furnace that almost burnt down my house! It's supposed to have a sensor in it so it doesn't get that hot! I think it's broken. The poor kid has a grid patterned burn the entire length of his arm. So DH brought home some stuff for it at lunch (I had already cooled it with a wet cloth and then put some ointment on it). I had no gauze in the house. So he brought eveyrone McDonalds and I just ate it without thinking I was too stressed out. I feel awful that this happened to him!
I called his mom and she said as long as he's up and playing and I don't think it needs to been seen by a Dr. then she'll wait until she's done with work. If it were my kid I know it's a bad burn but I wouldn't run to the ER. It didn't blister but he's not my kid and I feel really uncomfortable making that call and I told her that.
Well I nee dto clena up teh left over frenchfries covering my kitchen. have a great day all!
~misty
Misty - I understand your concern, I'd be the same way if it were my little boy but if it hasn't blistered and he's not having pain I'd say there is nothing to be worried about. That furnace thing needs to be fixed ASAP! I know it is a pain to have anyone come to your house to fix something (and generally expensive too) but this is not something you can afford to put off. Believe me I know. I had a problem with my muffler and put off having it fixed and in the end it probably cost twice as much if I'd had it fixed right away. Don't sweat the McD's. If you're gonna go for comfort food you might as well go for the best!
I went to the gym this morning, did my 40 minutes of cardio and weights so I feel good about that. I was so desperately trying to talk myself out of doing the whole 40 minutes but now I'm starting to feel bad if I don't push myself a bit. I guess that is a good thing as long as it stays positive.
Bev - sounds like you are going great, keep it up!
Angel - GG cookies should be illegal! I don't know which cookie company makes them in the US but here in Canada they changed companies so they are not as good as they were so it is much easier to refuse them.
Have a great day everyone!

Happy St. Paddy's everyone ( a day late)
Sorry I've been MIA...just real busy and very little time to post...but I have been keeping up to the best of my ability. I received my little Oprah pep talk email this week and it said that we should be seeing a 3-4 lb loss. I've lost about 5...so I am feeling pretty good about the changes I've made.
I do eat some 100% whole wheat bread... had a couple of junk food blips, but other than that I have been following the food guidelines. I cannot seem to fit in the vigorous daily exercise that they advocate, but I am getting exercise. I do the best I can.
The big changes that I believe are helping me the most:
No sugar
No alcohol
Stop eating three hours before bedtime
At a glance, it appears people here are having some success! Congratulations - we are almost half way...time just flies by...

Hi all, great to see you back Katy!
I'm thinking about changing the name of the thread. I think that since we are all following the plan within our own means a more appropriate thread name should be used. Something that more suits our efforts. Something like "3 month sprint to better health" or "Letting go of the white stuff and embracing exercise 12 week challenge" Ok those aren't catchy, but it seems like alot of folks are turned off by the boot camp name. It's all about support, being here for each other.
Well Ben had his 6 month check up and shots today and I'm wiped out! I think it's more stressful fo rme than them, he's sound asleep. Have a great day all I'm going to go find some lunch!

Good morning fellow boot campers,
How is everyone this morning. I decided to get up early to get some studying done while DD is still sleeping. I din't ahve much to say but I just want to say good luck to all of you this week.
Misty, I understand what you are saying about changing the name and on one hand I think it is a good idea for the reasons you've stated but on the other hand I think it would be good to keep the name to keep us focussed on what we are trying to accomplish. My feeling is that people who don't think they can post because they aren't ready to start losing weight or commit to a particular plan or whatever aren't going to post here no matter what. I follow this program about 50% of the time or less but it isn't stopping me from posting. It isn't the name of the thread that is stopping people, it is their own way of thinking about what they are doing or trying to accomplish. I mean how many times can we say it that everyone is welcome to post regardless of what they were doing?? If people who were following any particular plan 100% or losing tons were the only ones allowed to post there would be about 3 people talking to each other :LOL It is up to you because you were the one who started this all, makes no difference to me really because I"ll keep posting no matter what.
In retrospect I had a good week with the exercise, I got to the gym 4 times this past week. I really, really didn't want to go on Friday but I talked myself into going for 30 minutes of cardio and I"m glad I went. I feel really bloated and nasty today because I'm just about at TOM. I'm so sick of these PMS symptoms. I never had them before I had my son and I got switched to a different kind of birth control pill because I wouldn't have a TOM and I was thinking I was pg every month! Right now though I'm taking pills non-stop for 3 months at a time so I'm not really worried about that now. I ask my dr to switch me back to the pills I was on before I had my son so hopefully I won't be having all these symptoms. How do women get through this every month??? I went for years without them and they've really hit me just the past 3 years or so and I gotta say that it really bites.
My eating hasn't been great and I feel like I"ve gained again but that could just be water, it is really hard to tell with me around TOM. I should be drinking more water I suppose and that would probably help.
anyway have a good weekend everyone, see you later. take care!

Hi everybody - hope you're having a wonderful weekend!
I had a bad day yesterday diet-wise, but I'm hoping that it'll shake things up a bit on the scale-front, haven't seen a loss in awhile, despite being angellically good diet-wise, so maybe one day off will help lower that number!
