I found it is a nice change from just lettuce :) ------------------ Laurie =:¬) 207.2/194.6/187.2 [This message has been edited by CanuckGal (edited 03-01-2001).] cece 03-03-2001, 12:08 AM Baby spinach makes a wonderful salad. Carla afrikando 03-03-2001, 01:54 AM i sometimes use broccoli as a salad base. i microwave it and let it cool, then mix it up with other salad ingredients and dressing. bonus: lots more nutrients than lettuce! JinksE 03-03-2001, 04:19 AM Have you ever tried Broccoli Slaw or Rainbow Salad? (They are the same thing) I love eating it! It's crunchier and very filling! It's the broccoli stalk shredded with carrots and some other stuff like red cabbage. I put a little Parmesan cheese and Light Done Right Ranch on it and it's de-lish! :) Liza 03-05-2001, 01:27 PM JinksE I just found the brocoli slaw at the market and have been really happy to figure out what to do with the stalks my daughter won't eat. Now I just trim the brocoli really close before I microwave it for her and then run the stalks through the shredder on the food processor. It is really crunchy and a great find. Added to carrots and cabbage it is great. Salad in general is improved by anything but iceberg, I like any lettuce but. Also, there is no rule about salad having to have lettuce at all. It could be grated zuchinni, mushrooms, beets, carrots anything. Liza vBulletin® v3.6.7, Copyright ©2000-2009, Jelsoft Enterprises Ltd.
