Ellen 02-28-2005, 08:07 AM Sorry everyone, but I am feeling yucky this morning, so I am not going to take the time to post about challenges and stuff. If you have an idea, jump right on in and challenge us....
Solly 02-28-2005, 09:43 AM Good Monday Morning ladies.
It is raining yet again and calling for it to turn to snow later. Yuk! saturday was a beautiful day and yesterday wasn't too bad. A little overcast. Today is just depressing.
Well I have officially ditched the wig. Can't say that it is great, but it feels better. It is only hair and it will grow, eventually. Trying to straighten some of the curl, but it doesn't want to cooperate. The color is a little too red,b ut it will fade too.
Eating has been horrible. Just don't know why we do these things to ourselves. We know better.
Yesterday I was in such pain. I don't know, but if I had to guess I would say IBS. I was doubled over with pain for over 12 hours. Nothing relieved it. A little afraid to eat anything today.
Monet. Sorry you feel so poorly today. Take a nap and maybe you will feel better after that.
Gator, what a game yesterday. I was pulling for you guys. Not a big Eddie Sutton fan.
Got to get busy here. Breakfast just sounded. Bagel and cream cheese.
Ellen 02-28-2005, 10:07 AM JACK: I am sorry you were not feeling well yesterday! Get that checked out. There are things they can do for IBS, and one thing that helps is less starchy carbs... Anyway, I hope it is all cleared up. Yay, for ditching the wig! I know it has to feel better. A nap sounds good. I spent a lot of time this morning online, trying to find solutions to the cat problems. Tom is ready to kill a couple of them. And he is the biggest cat lover here! :yikes: I hope you have a good day!
woodfrogs 02-28-2005, 11:36 AM Hi everyone,
Sorry that i was missing most of last week, sort of a combo cold/intestinal thing. Sort of wiped me out. But I'm feeling better now and actually know what I'm doing again. Eating as a consequence was not entirely legal last week, and I didn't get in all of my cardio, but I did manage my 2 strength training days, and I did get on the tm yesterday afternoon and bowl 3 games, so it's not as bad as it could be.
I didn't get a chance to watch Kirstie Alley on the Today show this morning. But dh called and told me a little about it. She claims to have topped off at 203. But she looked more like I did at 270, so I have a hard time believing that story. She definitely looks better now though. It must be nice to make $$ off of being fat and then losing weight, wish I could do that!
Back on track this week, had my bacon, egg and cheese on a bagel and some peanuts so far. Also have some carb control yogurt, and an orange and some strawberries with me. Not sure about supper yet. Probably chicken of some sort. Because of the snow predicted for later, I'll move my gym day to tomorrow and do tm tonight, hopefully about 60 mins, plus the ab lounger.
Monet - sorry to hear that you're not feeling well. Lay down and take it easy and you'll be back to normal in no time.
Jack-K - I hope that it isn't IBS, but it should probably be checked out anyway. My Mom never got rid of her wig until her hair came back in. And it definitely grew back a different color. But I can see how it would definitely be easier w/o it.
For everyone else, have a great day!

Solly 02-28-2005, 11:41 AM Does anyone have the Sb Chocolate No bake cookie recipe? I can't seem to find it in the recipes sections. In fact there were only 2 pages of desserts? Doesn't sound right. Maybe I wasn't in the right place. A friend needs it and I think I have it at home but wanted to email it to her. Thanks
Solly 02-28-2005, 11:44 AM Monet, great, I just ate a whole bagle and some cheese straws (made with ww flour) and you tell me to avoid carbs. I had egg salad for lunch, maybe I will go get some soup. I made chili for dinner (no spaghetti) as we had someone coming to the house, and I am worried about eating all those beans. :fr:
Barbara, glad you are feeling better. We missed you. Sounds like you didn't slack on your exercise much to me. My hair is about 1" long all over. She shaped it up and colored it. Not too bad I guess. Just takes getting used to.
Toni48 02-28-2005, 01:00 PM Good morning all. Sorry Jack-k and Monet that you're feeling bad. And woodfrogs hope you're on the mend. Don't overdo..... I'm having a rough time for some reason right now. I'll hang in there and see if I can get back on track. I'm building a fire right now in our wood stove. The winds are so cold out and they're really blowing. Tonight the temp. is supposed to drop down and get real cold and maybe even some snow flurries. Brrrr. Glad I don't have to go out today and can stay in. We barbequed steaks this week end and it sure made me want spring. My DIL was here from South Carolina for the week end. I sure enjoyed her. Shes bringing the grandkids for Easter. Woopie.... Guess I'd better go check the fire.
THE BIG ORANGE BABE 02-28-2005, 02:32 PM GOOD MONDAY AFTERNOON EVERY BUDDY!!!
Had to bust out of work...back door trots have hit me with a vengence! I think it's because I've been eating so much cereal in the morning. I know I haven't eaten anything to give me this condition (bad I mean) I'm just keeping my fingers crossed that it's not the stomach bug that going around!
JACKIE...get that checked out...IBS is NOT FUN...Remember Kimmy? She had a problem and ended up being diagnosed with IBS and started taking a medication for it and now it's under control. Chili sounds good though...Kate is in the mood for Yellow Eyed Beans and a Cabbage Casserole
Talked to Cathy this morning and it's snowing there in N.C. Also noticed that it's snowing down in Corbin...We're supposed to get a cold front through here tonight and the temp will dip down in the 40's...I know you would probably love that, but with the wind blowing, we get cold down here!
TONI...Stay warm, and get ready for those Munchkins Easter will be here before you know it! My grill is out of commission right now, and I so miss
having my chicken on the grill! I fixed some burgers last night, but it's just not the same!
BARB...Hope you're feeling better...if it was anything like I've got now, I feel for you!
I don't get SHOWTIME, and that's where Kirstie's show is going to be, but I did catch DATELINE last week when she talked to Matt and he just doesn't believe that she's going to lose weight because there will be no show! Now that she's the spokesperson for Jenny Craig, she will have to lose something to be able to be paid! I did that once, lost 30lbs in the first month, but it got so expensive that I had to chose whether or not to eat or pay the bills...the bills won out and wieght came back! Jenny's food is good though, but it's like everything else, once you go off her food..........
MONET...feel better woman...you've put your body through a lot recently!
I'm off to sit on the throne!
BOB
Ellen 02-28-2005, 05:49 PM Good Afternoon everyone! Its been a wild day here in beautiful, overcast, rainy sucky weather Atlanta.... I am SO sick of rain! I want some blue skies and sunshine!
Ruth and Erik came over and he did taxes. She went through some boxes she had left in her old closet, aka as the office. She threw out stuff that I was kind of surprised about. Pictures of friends from high school and middle school. Her feelings are she has not seen them since she graduated, so why keep them? I fished out the group picture from her trip to Europe with the orchestra, but she will probably not appreciate that I did that, so I will hide it someplace for her to find when she is cleaning out my house after my funeral.
I went to Petsmart this morning and got some special new kitty litter that is supposed to help retrain cats with litterbox problems. I hope it works, cause I am about to BBQ a couple cats.... Don't get me wrong, I LOVE these kittens, but I am at my wits end! James is going to contain them in his room and bathroom tonight for a week or so. Containment is the recommended method for retraining. I sure hope it helps. At least we won't have to deal with them climbing into our guests laps at dinner!
I was trying to do some cleanup on my houseplants today, and re-injured my ankle. I am back to hobbling around again. I am a bit frustrated, as I did not get as much done today as I had hoped, with Ruth and Erik here. I called Tom and told him I OWN him and James tonight....
Eating has been only so so. I had three eggs, and an English muffin for breakfast. then I had a PB&J for lunch. Too much starchy stuff! THEN, I had a snack of toasted Cheerios, so I had five breads so far today. I hope I can hold out and not eat any at dinner, but I have not even planned dinner yet, so who knows what I will fix!
I guess I have rambled long enough. I am going to go sit in the recliner and read a chapter of my book....
Toni48 02-28-2005, 07:25 PM Gosh where is everyone. This sure is a quiet day..... I've done nothing of worth today except one load of laundry. Eating has been not so good. But I'll ride it out and be fine for sure.
Bob- Hope bathroom duty has gotten better.
Monet- Oh no with your ankle. You've got to get that better. Hope you had a good rest.
Jack-K- Forgot to say I'm so glad you've ditched the wig. Enjoy the short hair do. Bet you look good......
Cindylcing 02-28-2005, 08:19 PM Evening all ! :)
Monet, Woodfrogs and Jack-k - I hope you all are feeling better !
Monet- Becareful with that ankle! Maybe you should wrap it for a bit so you dont keep reinjuring it.
Bob- Do you have lots of reading material ? :smug:
Today went pretty well. It was so nice only working 8 hours today. I almost felt like I was leaving half day! It went so fast.

s- Protein shake
l- turkey sandwich on ww lc bread with 1 slice of swiss, 1/2 cup Lf cottage cheese

drumflower 02-28-2005, 08:42 PM Does anyone have the Sb Chocolate No bake cookie recipe? I can't seem to find it in the recipes sections. In fact there were only 2 pages of desserts? Doesn't sound right. Maybe I wasn't in the right place. A friend needs it and I think I have it at home but wanted to email it to her. Thanks
:D I found the receipe under desserts in the sugar busters receipe form! Then I had to try them! They are so good, reminds of my childhood when I first tried them! It helps the chocolate p.b. fix!
Ellen 02-28-2005, 09:21 PM Reporting on dinner...I had some Maytag bleu cheese with triscuits...which was a no no since I had enough starches today! We also had steak and broccoli.
I am going to hobble to the store and do some shopping for my company. I am going to make Beef Wellington for dinner tomorrow...and then play it by ear for Wednesday.
I will check back in later!
Ellen 03-01-2005, 12:00 AM Back from the store, and did a bit of work on stuff for the big arts festival I head up in April. While I was at the store, I bought an ankle brace. Oh, my does it feel good! I am afraid this is not a sprain, but the beginnings of a lupus flare. Just what I need...arthritis in my ankle joint!
I ate an orange on the way home from the store. They looked and smelled so good...it tasted almost as good as it smelled!
The kittens are contained. I miss them, but it will be good to have a break from the worry. The big boy kitten is lonely, and sitting at my feet. He keeps looking around for the girls....
I still have so much to do...I hope I can get a good amount done tomorrow. I wish I could afford a maid! They got the beds exchanged, but tomorrow I need to find sheets for it and make it up nice. Then, I think the room will be ready for company. The den better look good tomorrow morning when I wake up, or a certain young woman I know and love is going to have a very RUDE awakening!
drumflower 03-01-2005, 09:00 AM I hope everyone is feeling better! :balloons: :balloons: I am happy again since my Gevalia coffee came in yesterday! :coffee: I am so spoiled with this coffee and I am afraid I am turning into a coffee snob! :coffee2: :coffee2: Folders just didn't do it this weekend! :dizzy:
We got a ton of snow last night and today! Maybe 6 inches! Well at least it calms my spring fever! lol It kills my urge to plant some seeds! So I guess today's exercise must be cleaning the house! :blah: :blah: :blah: I will think of you today, Monet! Is anyone here a member of the flylady.net. I am trying to clean her way, but it is harder to do than a low sugar plan! lol At least for me! :o
I think I am going to have some shredded wheat cereal for breakfast and a mango for breakfast. :hun:
GatorGal 03-01-2005, 10:36 AM Just checking in. Have not been doing great lately. Getting lazy, I think. I haven't even been walking. Actually, I've been walking but not wearing the pedo.
I have a really busy week: a French quiz today, blood test this morning, eye doctor's this afternoon, working tomorrow and also meeting with my mentoree, and preparing for the gourmet tasting dinner we are having on Saturday. That means I have to work to keep the house clean until then. We also have started working in the yard because the weather won't have any more freezes, and it is getting nice. The leaves are starting to bud out on the trees and the azaleas are blooming. My DH cut his roses back last weekend.
Gotta go. Jackie--I agree that the game was great. The Gators hung in there with that exciting finish. The USC crowd was loud and obnoxious--since they beat the Tide--after a long string of losses. Glad we could add another one to their L column. Glad to hear that you are wearing your own hair now. Bet it will look cute. :)
Ellen 03-01-2005, 10:36 AM Good Morning! Today will be busy trying to finish up all the stuff I did not get to yesterday...which was too much to leave for today! I am wearing my ankle brace and it really helps. I still feel like I am SO clumsy...its disheartening. Its snowing as we speak. I am contemplating finding the weatherman and kicking him in the behind. They were predicting no clouds, sunshine and blue skies.
DRUM: I have had the Gevalia...good stuff! I am not much of a coffee snob, but I do tend to buy Starbucks. I like theirs best. Its snowing here. We were supposed to have a sunny day today! grrr. I am a member of Flylady. I think Techwife is too. I follow a lot of their advice, with one BIG exception....I do NOT wear shoes. I go barefooted all the time, unless I go out, then I wear Birkenstock sandals. If its too cold for Birks, I wear a slip on loafer. I hate shoes, so does my husband. He even runs barefooted! Three miles, three times a week!
For breakfast I had: ww waffles, sausage patties, hot tea
Ok, off to get something done!
Ellen 03-01-2005, 10:39 AM GATOR: We were posting at the same time! I can't wait to hear how your tasting dinner goes! Good luck on your quiz! I can relate to the pedometer wearing. I have not worn mine for a few days. I felt sick last week and did not get to Curves, and this week I had the sprained ankle, and now company coming in. I don't think I will make it this week either...I am beginning to feel very lazy! And stiff....
woodfrogs 03-01-2005, 11:24 AM It's still snowing here, 6 inches and counting! I got part of the deck shoveled off so that I could fill the bird feeders this morning. There were even red-winged blackbirds! So spring is definitely coming. The cardinals were out in full force too. We foten get 10-16 at a time. I'll finish the deck and do the front steps after I get home from the gym, at least it stays light late enough to manage that. DH got out the snowblower and did the driveway.
Made chicken scampi over rice last night w/ green beans. It came out pretty well. ALso did a batch of fudge for work later this week(birthday party).
Today is:
bacon, egg and cheese on bagel
peanuts
carb control yogurt
not sure what else yet.....
I saw on the NBC website yesterday that a dr was saying that the 8-8oz glasses of water is a myth. It doesn't flush toxins, and doesn't really help with weight loss. That we should listen to our bodies, and when we're thirsty, then drink, but otherwise not to worry about it. Also said that too much water is causes side effects like being disoriented. I always feel better when I'm drinking water or tea. Maybe it's that our bodies have a hard time knowing when to trigger that thirst response(since a lot of the time we're drinking stuff that isn't necessarily good for us).
I didn't make it to the gym because they said the snowstorm was going to start way before it really did, but I managed to walk for 60 mins on the tm and do 100 ab crunches(which I posted on the exercise board), today I'll make it over to the gym.
Seems like everyone is busy with company, meetings, tests and all manner of stuff. makes me feel like a slacker since we don't have too much going on right now.
We did finally watch Cold Mountain over the weekend. I thought it was a little slow, but still a very good movie. And who could believe that Million $$ Baby won Best Pic?? I thought finding Neverland was awesome!(Although Johnny Depp's outfit at the Oscar's left a lot to be desired.
Guess that's all for now. Take care everyone!
Barbara
Poughkeepsie, NY
Solly 03-01-2005, 11:49 AM Good Morning ladies.
Boy I thought someone was going to have to get a crow bar and pry me out of bed this morning. I was really snoozing and dreaming. I have had the most bizzare dreams lately. Plus I remember them so clearly. Last night I was going to the prom. Go figure.
Didn't get much exercise in last night. My aunts nephew came over to discuss her finances and then I had to run out and pick up a gift for my niece and DH was installing a space saver radio/cd player in my kitchen and I had to help him. So I got some wt training in for about 15 minutes. Hopefully tonight I will get a goot workout in.
We are picking up a new kitchen table tongith. I got a new area rug this weekend. Now I have to remove my wallpaper and paint my kitchen. It was time for a change.
Toni, how exciting to have the grandkids for EAster. It will be here before you know it too. Try to stay warm. It is really cold here today.
Bob, girl, if it's not one thing it's another with you. I think you need a good exorcism or something. I'm not having anything else checked out. I need a break for awhile. I'll deal with it. In fact it is fine today.
Monet, ooh! slavery! That's a new angle. I couldn't visit you house with all those cats. I'm not a cat person and they seem to know that. Glad the brace helped. Maybe you need to wear it for awhile.
Cindy, I bet 8 hours does feel like a short day. Enjoy it.
Gator, I'm shocked you have not been wearing the pedometer. That's not like you. What's got youn in a funk?Good luck on your quiz. Let us know how your dinner turns out. It sounds exciting.
Drum, aren't you in Indiana? We got a dusting of snow. Plenty for me. Enjoy your coffee.
Wood, I think you are teasing us with signs of Spring. I wonder if it will ever get here. Good job on the exercise (as always).
Better get some real work done here. Be back later.
THE BIG ORANGE BABE 03-01-2005, 12:27 PM GOOD TUESDAY MORNING TO ALL YOU BUSTER BUDDYS!!!!
Went to work, but I'm already home...JACKIE....an exorcism sounds like the trick! Something has been going on with me since I got back from vacation in October! I'm so tired of being sick or mangled!
This bug is brutal...it's going around our office...make that our building!
On top of that, they are painting and putting in new carpet and the smell doesn't help!
Hope everyone who is "puny" gets well! I'm off to rest....
I'll check in later
BOB
Ellen 03-01-2005, 12:29 PM I just got back from taking James to work and going to the store to get what I forgot last night...just an essential ingredient in the Beef Wellingtons for tonight...the puff pastry! I mean, duh! I had it on my list!
The snow has melted on the roads, and is just in the shade now. Its pretty, but I would rather see lots of green grass, and tons of daffodils and stuff. The daffs are blooming, but the snow is ruining the effect! ;)
The house seems awfully quiet without the three little girls running around getting into trouble. I am going to enjoy it while I can. I can even leave stuff on the counter without worrying!
For those who remember my dire threats about the den...it was much improved, but not up to snuff. I hate to wake Laura, because she will be crabby and hard to deal with if I do. I am so thankful she is the youngest, so I know there is hope. The older two eventually grew out of a lot of this....
I cleaned out the car some, cleaned the kitchen, and I still need to sweep, and I SHOULD mop the floor, but I may not. I need to dust in the dining room, and straighten up a bit in the great room, then I think the house will be somewhat presentable. I made up the 'guest' bed...but I am thinking of changing the spread. I have a different one that might look nicer. I may wake Laura up and ask her. She will be in a better mood if I am seeking her great wisdom in the matters of style!
Oh, the sun is beginning to shine in the windows!
Will be back later!
Toni48 03-01-2005, 12:48 PM Good morning all. The day is going fast. I just got out of the shower so I'm legging behind a bit. Been over at ebay looking at shabby chic stuff to do my bedroom with. Theres so much work to be done in there. But I can't wait. Bought a beautiful ceiling fan from a girl that paints wonderful pink roses. Shes mailing it out today. Shes also going to paint me a phone to match. I got my new quilt for the bed but am a bit disappointed with it. Its nice but not exactly what I wanted. Thats the danger of buying off ebay. (no exchanges) I may have to just live with it. Guess I'll take it to Wal Mart in a couple of weeks and match it up with some paint.
Monet- sounds like you're really busy! And having to hobble around has to be so hard. Hope you get Laura to help you......
Jack-K- It sounds like you're going to really fix up your kitchen. What colors are you using in there?
Bob- Howdy gal! I hope you're feeling a little better and resting lots.
woodfrogs- wow chicken scampi sounds so good. Yummy. Keep that white stuff at your place. We had a little dusting of it yesterday and I was sure worried we'd get dumped on.
Gatorgal- I sure know about that lazy part. I've been having trouble for a week now with it...
drumflower- Oh wow you've got the snow too! But thats when I want to get my seeds ordered for spring so I can think of something but the white stuff!!
Cindy- What kind of protien shake do you use? I would like to get some but don't know what kind tastes good...
Well I'd better get dressed and make the bed.... Have a great day!!!!
Solly 03-01-2005, 04:03 PM Bob, whatever is going around now seems to last forever. Hope you don't have that. Feel better.
Monet, sounds like you are making progress. 'm sure your quests won't even notice.
Toni, My kitchen is black and white. Cabinets are white, counter tops are black. My current wallpaper is black and white stripes with a black, white and silver border. I am taking it down and going to paint the wall red with maybe a red, black, white border. My new table has a black granite top and I think the chairs are dark too. Can't remember. My dishes are black and white so I can't stray too much from those basic colors. Nothing wrong with lazy days. We all need them every now and them.
Ellen 03-01-2005, 04:43 PM Whoa, Jack, your kitchen sounds so cool! I love bold colors. With the black and white, you can use any accent color you wish. I think the red sounds wonderful. Of course I am NOT influenced by the Georgia Bulldogs.... My kitchen is a very strong yellow. Like the rind of a dark lemon. I use cobalt and red with it. Most of my house is painted a medium blue and I have red sofas, with cobalt and yellow throw pillows on them. I just love color! I had a friend who tried to tell me to buy everything neutral. I just smiled, but my mind was screaming, BORING! And to all of my dear friends on here who use neutral colors to decorate, that is great! Its just not me! :)
TONI: The pink roses sound so dainty and pretty! I could never pull that off! :) I do love roses though! Keep us posted on the progress! Will you paint the walls pink too?
I used Pledge on the dining table, baked a small pound cake to serve with strawberries for dessert tonight, and ate a ham sandwich on rye for lunch. Tom came home, got my car and cellphone and rushed back out to get to the airport in time. Just another couple hours, and they will be here! I am really looking forward to seeing them. This is Tom's father's last living sibling. She married a navy man, and moved north. I have only seen her three times in the 28 years we have been married, but she is just a lovely woman, and her husband is a lot of fun.
So, if I am not on here much until the weekend, its because we are off visiting with the aunt and uncle. :) We take them to my mother in laws on Thursday and will probably return on Saturday.
I better go wrap the filets in puff pastry.
Cindylcing 03-01-2005, 04:50 PM Hi everyone! Well we were supposed to get 6-10 inches of snow and we only got a couple..whew..was I glad. I havnt watched the weather for tonight though so hopefully it isnt just delayed. Ive been good and havnt weighed since last week so Im gonna do it tomorrow morning.
Toni- I use the "walker " (Dr. Walker) protien shake mix , I get it off vitacost. Actually what I prefer is one scoop of the walker and one scoop of whey vanilla protein powder and water and ice. I get the choc and the vanilla.
Tuesday menu:
b- blueberry smoothie, 1 egg, 1 slice ww lc toast
s- 3 celery stalks, 2 tbl sf pbutter
l- left over steak & 3 oz of baked turkey breast, 1 tangerine
s- 6 macadamia nuts
d- twiced cooked califlower, turkey tenderloin kabobs with redpepper, sm romaine/spinach salad with LF ranch.
Ellen 03-01-2005, 11:36 PM Hey everyone! Its late and I am about to go to bed. Our company arrived safe and sound. I made Beef Wellington for dinner with broccoli in cheese sauce, basiled carrots and a Sauce Robert for the Wellingtons. I used a peppercorn reduction for the sauce which was really good...it was a suggestion made by my son in law, the chef.
Tomorrow, we will probably go see Stone Mountain, and do some sight seeing.
I hope all is well ....
woodfrogs 03-02-2005, 10:40 AM Hi everyone! I hate the scale, and let's just leave it at that!
I did get in some good exercise yesterday, my regular gym workout plus 30 mins tm and 100 crunches on the ab lounger. Tonight is bowling night, and I'm not sure if I'll get time on the tm this afternoon or not. I need to pick up a few things at the store, and then I need to pick up what I have spread out in the kids room, they're coming home this weekend for their birthday.
Dinner will probably be bratwurst and sauerkraut.
Food so far:
bacon egg and cheese on sourdough rye toast(store bought, but still yummy)
carb control yogurt
orange, strawberries
probably some cheese and crackers later.
Monet - your beef wellington sounds yummy!
Jack - it sounds like your kitchen is very cool! I keep hoping for a countertop upgrade. But it'll probably have to wait until after the kids are done with school.
To everyone else, have a greadt day!

Where there was another dusting of snow last night.....
Toni48 03-02-2005, 12:54 PM Howdy all. Slept in this morning. I actually get up at 4 am with DH then when he leaves for work I have a habit of falling asleep in the recliner with my little boston terrier (Bullet). Just finished a little house work so I'll be free to go out this afternoon. And visit with a friend.
woodfrogs- I can agree with you on the scale..... But you work out so much I don't how yours could be bad...
Monet- Your beef wellington sounds so nice. Yummy!! I made a pot roast with sweet potatoes and it was pretty darn good.. Wish I could think of something good for tonight. My walls in my bedroom are going to be a green color. I have a quilt with roses and green checks I'm trying to match. Theres an old built in dresser that a friend of mine is going to distress for me. So I will get my shabby chic.
Cindy- Glad the 6 inches didn't hit. I keep expecting a big bunch of snow here but we've really had the mildest winter. Its unbelieveable.
Jack-K- what wonderful bold colors you have. I'll bet your kitchen is beautiful. I'm in to old fashioned, shabby chic and country.....
Well better go and get finished with my house stuff before DH comes in for lunch....
Cindylcing 03-02-2005, 05:26 PM Monet- Glad to hear you guests got there safe and sound and your dinner sounds delish.
Woodfrogs- I hear ya on the scale. Mine went up a pound ! I contribute that to heavier weight lifting Sunday and Tuesday. I might back off on my weights for a while and just do my resistance bands.
Wed. menu:
b- 1/2 cup oatmeal, 3 bacon
s- 1/2 cup cottage cheese
l- 3 oz turkey breast and a bit of LF mayo, raspberry LC yogurt
s- apple
d- flattened chicken breast with seasoning, green onion and colby/jack, 1 cup steamed brocilli
s- 1/3 cup pumpkin seeds
THE BIG ORANGE BABE 03-02-2005, 08:40 PM EVENING ALL YOU BUSTER BUDDYS!!!!!
As y'all can see, BOB is trying to climb back in the wagon! It's going to be rough, but I WILL DO THIS!!! I was doing so well while I was off from work in January. BUT...the minute I got back to work and started eating out again, the pounds starting packing back on!
I know it's all stress eating. There is so much going on at work, that I can't get my mind on eating right! I need to get my grill back in working order and get back to eating my chicken and salmon! When I do that, I eat right, measure what I eat, and don't even give "night eating" a thought! Don't know about y'all, but when I don't eat enough protein, I seem to be hungry all the time. and it's not eating what I should be eating, it's bread, cookies, potato chips....YOU GET THE IDEA!!!
JACKIE....I NEED YOU TO EXORCISE THE FOOD DEMONS OUT OF ME~!!!! We aren't getting the KY- TENN game tonight and KATE is NOT a HAPPY CAMPER!!! She's in there watching EDDIE SUTTON!!
I'm off to watch some TV....I'm gong to climb up in the four poster and get proped up for the night!
EVERYONE HAVE GREAT NIGHT!!!!

Teensybean 03-03-2005, 01:08 AM Hey all you Sugar Buster gals-----
Just a drive by........pretty darn tired. I have been washing all the walls in my house and parts of the ceilings.....don't know what got into me, but I am glad that it did. My house smells so clean!! But this is hard work. Especially the ceilings. I do have our bedroom left to do, but am not too worried about it. Going into town tomorrow to Home Depot to pick up paint and supplies. Going to start in the hallway. We are in a mobil home and have alot of paneling so it is pretty dark.......but not for long. I am going to find an elegant and rich looking cream color for the hall and our room. A pastel green and raspberry for the bathroom as it has the avocado colored tub, toilet and sink (yuk!!), and am not sure what in the spare room/ computer room. Any ideas? It has a forest green carpet.......
Eating has been great, but the scale still isn't moving......will just bide my time. I am exercising 5 days and eating totally on plan. So I guess there is nothing more I can do. I am staying right at 1600 calories, which is what I should be at to lose 2 pounds a week. So I guess it is just wait and see.....
I hope to be back full time after I get all my projects done. I will read as much as I can, but am making this my priority right now. And I know that I will be beat at night. I do enjoy painting.....just hate getting everything ready.....taping, removing outlets, pictures, etc.....
See you all later.........
Solly 03-03-2005, 10:14 AM This is going to be a drive by. My day yesterday was crazy and today isn't going to be any better. I have managed to get my wt trainin in all week. In fact yesterday I had to eat lunch alone so I did my wt training at lunch in our kitchen. I may do that again today. I got my treadmill in when I got home last night.
Sorry no time for replies. Hope tomorrow is better and I can get back on here.
:grouphug:
Ellen 03-03-2005, 11:27 AM Just a fly by for me as well. We are getting ready to pack and leave in a bit. We have had a great time, and I hate to take our guests to my mother in laws...I would love to keep them here! :)
Yesterday we went to Stone Mountain and then out to dinner at Red Lobster. I got the fried seafood plate...I have no idea why I did that....I ended up giving a bunch of the shrimp and clams to Tom and James. This morning we had eggs, sausage and grits for breakfast.
I will check in when we get back on Saturday! Be good! :grouphug:
woodfrogs 03-03-2005, 12:46 PM Morning all,
Just a drive by, need to buckle down and get something written. I'll walk on the tm later and skip the gym today, the arthritis in my right hand is acting up.

Think I'll make a meatloaf with venison and ground chuck tonight. DH will love that. I'm still not eating right and I'm with Bob need to get back to my chicken and salmon.

THE BIG ORANGE BABE 03-03-2005, 06:58 PM EVENING ALL YOU FLY BY BUSTER BUDDYS!!!
Here I am present and accounted for and everyone else is flying by! OH WELL....at least I'm here!
I had a wonderful lunch today...a sirloin steak and steamed veggies...The broccoli killed me though....it's never effected me this way before today. I had this terrible pain and actually thought I was about to start my back door trots again....got to the little shack out back and all it was was gas! I swear I experienced a 5 minute fart today....just wouldn't stop...but I sure did feel better after all was said and done! Sorry to be so graffic, but since no one is here but me.......
I stopped at PUBLIX after work and picked up a lemon and pepper chicken in the deli for supper...it smells so good!
CINDY...I've never tried the KASHI CEREAL...is it a sweet taste? I know it's supposed to be good for you...fill me in...which kind do you buy?
I'm off to fix supper...I'll check in later
BOB
Cindylcing 03-03-2005, 08:31 PM Bob- I get the" Puffed Kashi seven whole grains & sesame". The front of the box says " og sugar, 70 calories , sodium free" Its not sweet at all. Actually I add a little sprinkle of splenda to it. I really like it.
Teensybean 03-04-2005, 12:55 AM Hey gals--
Went into town this morning and spent way too much money. Mostly on groceries though. Ended up getting only the primer and the paint for the hallway and our bedroom, along with new rollers and tape. It is called swiss coffee. Almost white with just a hint of beige. Brought home alot of green samples to hang on the bathroom wall for awhile to see which one I like the best. Then I will go back and get that and the white for all the trim. This is going to be fun!! (For how long??) I am going to get our bedroom walls washed tomorrow, or as much as I can before my arms give out. Then I will start taping the hallway and preparing everything for the primer and then paint. Once I get going I hate to stop, so will try and get it ALL prepared first so I can just keep going.............
See you all tomorrow night........
Solly 03-04-2005, 10:14 AM Bob, I may be flying by, but I am reading and that was too much information. :fr: That's the bad thing about this WOE, gas is a killer.
Teensy, sounds like a project. I think I'm gonna strip the wallpaper in my kitchen tomorrow and hopefully paint it. DH dosen't like to do a lot at one time.
Cindy, I've never tried the Kashi either. Can't seem to find a cereal I like other than frosted flakes and you can't have them. I have tried the Special K low Carb and it's not too bad if you add some fruit.
Not much going on with me. One of our Christian Church (we call it 6 flags over Jesus it is so big) is having an Easter Pagent which they say is unbelievalbe. We are going to go to that on Sunday. I have been wanting to go for years. They have real animals and Jesus even rises into the heavens. Other than that, and painting is my weekend after the fish fry tonight.
Will try to check back. If not, have a great weekend.
Solly 03-04-2005, 01:12 PM We get a daily newsletter at work and it had a great quote of the day which I think describes our struggle with weight loss and cheating: Something to think about
"The reason most people fail instead of succeeding is that they trade what they want most for what they want at the moment."
Cindylcing 03-04-2005, 03:50 PM Jack-k - what a great quote. So true.
Well, Im glad its Friday. Now I can relax. My dd went and got married yesterday. They were just going to get the marriage certificate and while there the clerk said..you want to do it today? .. and they said sure ! We have a big thing planned next weekend for them to celebrate. Would of been nice to know in a little bit of advance but oh well.
Tonight dh and I are going to a wonderful resturant here in town that we only let ourselves go to 1 or 2 times a year, that way it makes it special when we do go. Hope everyone is having a great day !
Fridays menu:
b- 2 scrambled eggs, 2 bacon, 1 slice ww lc toast
s- 1 oz pumpkin seeds
l- slice of ham and 2 oz chedder, 1 strawberry, 1 cherry tomato, 2 triscuits
s- na
d- 5 oz grilled steak, romaine salad with ranch, steamed asparagus
THE BIG ORANGE BABE 03-04-2005, 06:10 PM GOOD FRIDAY AFTERNOON EVERY BUDDY!!!
It's beautiful here today...still no humidity...tomorrow is HOUSE CLEANING DAY...my Brother, Niece and her son Jay will be here on Thursday..I'm thinking that I'll just sweep, mop, dust, clean the bathroom and kitchen...after they are gone back home, I'll do the BIG CLEAN~~~ I always break my neck to have everything spotless before they come, then everything is turned upside down when they leave...Just not going to put myself through that this time...It will be clean, just not spotless!
JACKIE...That's the church that Cathy and Greg attended when they lived in L'ville. I went when I was there...it was amazing! I had never been in a church that big before. She told me about the EASTER program...says it is really something to see! I think you will enjoy it.
If I can't share my ~~~GAS~~~~ with you, who can I share it with...wish I had had a tape recorder...no one believes me when I say it was 5 minutes long!
HEY COLLEEN...If you leave now, you can be here by tomorrow to help me with my cleaning! Sounds like a project getting ready to happen out there! You'll have to take pictures when you're done!
CINDY...CONGRATS TO YOUR DD AND HER NEW HUSBAND!!! PICTURES????
Thanks for the info on the cereal..I'll have to get some to try...does it really fill you up like they say it does?
TONI...NO BAMBI MEATLOAF FOR ME!!!! I have NEVER been able to aquire a taste for anything wild like that...
I'm off to find something to fix for supper...I'll check in later!

Cindylcing 03-04-2005, 07:52 PM Bob, For me the cereal is filling, youll just have to try and see how it is for you. I'll get some pics of the happy couple in the next week and post them.
GatorGal 03-05-2005, 02:27 AM This has been a busy week for me, and I am just now getting to the board after being away from it for several days. Tomorrow evening is my "tasting dinner" and I am pretty much all ready for it.
I have purchased the paté, and have the little french bread toasts for it. I also bought a nice selection of olives which we will also have.
The second course is a roasted red pepper tart and I still have to make that. It is better the day it is made. The peppers are all roasted and even cut into strips. I have the tomato reduction that goes under the peppers, so all I have to do is assemble it and bake it tomorrow.
I still have to peel the shrimp and the lobster, and poach the tilapia, but the base for the beurre blanc sauce is ready in the skillet and just waiting for the addition of butter at the last minute. I've made the sauce for the duck and blanched the haricots verts (French green beans). My DH will cook the filet. I will have to do the mushrooms at the last minute, as well as the sweet potato julienne fries.
I'm buying the bread tomorrow at the farmer's market, and will also get some organic specialty lettuces and tomatoes there. The cheeses are all ready and I have the cherries in wine ready to go for the ice cream. So, I hope it is fun and not too difficult.
BOB--Lol, I think I remember your sending me some joke about the difference between men and women and one of them had something to do with men enjoying a fart. It's funny reading what you wrote. More info than I expected.
Jackie, my DH and I are going up to Gainesville on Sunday to see what we hope will be a great game (from our perspective). We are hoping the Gators will chomp the Cats. It's been a few years since I've seen that.
Am I the only one starting to get sick of all the Martha stuff. I can't believe how her leaving prison is such a major event.
Does anyone live near a Trader Joe's? I found something there at a Trader Joe's when we were in AZ and that is the only place I could find it. There are no stores here in FL.
It is late, as you can see, but I couldn't sleep. I've been lazy about taking my vitamins and probably the lack of extra calcium doesn't help.
minsnotux 03-05-2005, 05:58 AM I was checking out this message board because I am about to start on Sugar Busters. Used it years ago for a week like many other plans until I would give into my sugar cravings and not stop. Haven't seen any messages where folks are talking about their sugar/carb addictions and wondered if I am alone. I quit smoking and drinking when I got pregnant with my son 12 years ago and have increasingly gained to over 100 lbs. Sugar has truly become like a drug for me but I MUST STOP!! I see how it affects my depression, my behavior, my weight (obviously) and my children. Looking for any advice or help in getting myself ready for this. I always give up on the plan because once I go off, I usually go off big and can't get back on. I know it sounds wimpy but it really has such control over me. I feel like a drug addict or like I did when I smoked. Just got through doing South Beach for 3 weeks and then lost it as usual. I can't do that anymore. Every time I try a new WOE, I gain back more. I'm concerned about Type II Diabetes, heart problems, etc. but can't seem to get myself to stop. Its like I know what I need to do but I'm not motivated which makes me feel so sick. Any comments are welcomed. I plan on starting SB this coming week. I have reread the book to refresh my memory and then found this site. Thank you and all the best to all of you!
Cindylcing 03-05-2005, 06:52 AM Welcome minsnotux !
All I can offer you is its just like quitting smoking. You have to set your mind to just do it and makes changes in your woe. You will eventually get to a point ( like not smoking) that eating healthy and SF is not a struggle everyday and becomes a normal way to eat.
Personally I started with Atkins for 1 1/2 years and went through induction which helped me get over my cravings and yes it took a while , But I just ( and keep doing it) kept focusing on my goals and did alot of self talk.
Now on SB I have added more foods and am doing well, dont crave any of the old foods. Im sure more people whove been on SB longer will be around to give you some great advice. Support is the number one key for me. Hang in there and hang around . :)
THE BIG ORANGE BABE 03-05-2005, 03:00 PM GOOD SATURDAY AFTERNOON ALL YOU BUSTER BUDDYS~!~~
I just can't get motivated to start my cleaning! Here it is alrady 2p.m. and I'm stll back here watching TV!
{{{{{{WELCOME}}}}}}}} MINSNOTUX We ALL suffer from sugar addiction on this board, as well as carb addiction...we just don't discuss it as readily as on other boards.
We're a very close group here and as you will see, we talk about anything and everything. We're very supportive to each other, and you are more than welcome to join us.
You sound like me...I think that when I start a program that I should wake up skinny the next morning and everything will be fixed! NOT!!! I should know by now that that's not the case, and that it's not going to happen that way~!
Our weekends are very slow around here, but we do pick up during the week and some weeks being busier than others.
Ask any questions that you may have here on this board and someone will answer you...
AGAIN...WELCOME
BOB
Toni48 03-05-2005, 03:34 PM Good Saturday to all. Its a beautiful afternoon here in Missouri... We're going to barbeque tonight and I'm also going to make some scallops. Yum. It reminds me and makes me happy spring is on its way. (Isn't it?????) I got my new quilt for our bed and got some paint chips last night to pick out one for the color. But theres lots more to do before we get ready to paint. The room is very old and it needs lots of repairs. Hopefully some of it can get started this month.
Bob- Your 5 min. gas had me LMAO. I cried I laughed so hard!!! Broccli is danger to you! I know what you mean about cleaning for company. I just don't have it in me to kill myself over it anymore. To only have it tore apart while they're here. So for my kids coming at the end of the month it will be clean but not to where I'm exhausted when they get here.
minsnotux- Welcome to our family. You can do it girlfriend. We're all in the same boat here. So post often!!! And keep on coming even when you're not doing well.
Cindy- A great big congrads to your dd! Hope you post a picture.....
Gatorgal- Oh your menu sounds just wonderful. Your guests are very lucky to be eating with you!!!
Jack-K- The church Easter service sounds wonderful. I would love to see it...
Teensybean- Good luck with painting. I can't wait till we get started on ours...
Hope I got everyone. Have a great week end.....

Ellen 03-06-2005, 12:53 AM Hey Everyone! We got in a little while ago. We were both starving, so we fixed a sandwich and ate that. While we were eating, James and Laura came in with booze. They are having a party. They have five or six friends over and are going to play video games, watch movies and drink. I was not crazy about them having a party the night I get back in town. :(
Our trip was ok...we went to my MIL's by way of the small town my father in law, and his family came from. It was his sister who was the aunt visiting us. She was thrilled to go by and see her cousin who she has not seen in almost 50 years! The weather finally cleared up some, and we got to watch the contruction company repair my mother in law's septic tank system! Fun!
MINSNOTUX: Welcome! I see you are in Atlanta. I live in the Duluth area! Where are you? I have been struggling with the sugar and carbs stuff for a while now. We had out of town company, and my eating has deteriorated a bit in the last week. I need to get back on the straight and narrow, and it is not easy! You have to fight like a tiger to get back to where the stuff doesn't bother you. Anyway, I am glad you are here! I hope you jump right in and join us. I don't think there is a more sensible plan than Sugarbusters.
To everyone else, I will post replies tomorrow! I am just too pooped tonight!
Cindylcing 03-06-2005, 07:11 PM Quiet weekend here at the SB board :) Im still waiting for some warm weather to go out into the yard. Maybe by the end of the month.
Monet- glad you got back home . Hope your all rested up now.
I just wanted to eat and eat today.
Sundays menu:
b- 1/4 of a ww bagel with creamcheese
s- 1 oz almonds
l-3 oz turkey meat with 1 slice swiss, 4 strawberries, 1/2 oz pistashios, 2 small homemade crab wontons

d- hamburger patty with chedder ( had half the burger on 1 slice wwlc bread), raw brocilli casserole , small lettecue wedge with bluecheese dressing and chopped tomatoes.
minsnotux 03-06-2005, 07:50 PM Thank you to all of you for replying to my long winded message! I am on a mission to get the 10 - 15 loads of laundry done that I have today but will write more soon. Just quickly checked to see if I had an email from my son in Iraq and saw that you wonderful people had written. I'll be back soon.
Minsnotux
THE BIG ORANGE BABE 03-06-2005, 09:27 PM Hey BUSTER BUDDYS
I'm off to crawl up in the four poster to relax. Hope everyone has a great evening!
BOB
Ellen 03-06-2005, 11:13 PM I think I will probably wait to do replies until tomorrow. The board is awfully slow this weekend! We got in from church a while ago, and I made Reuben sandwiches for James and I for dinner, then I ate an orange. We had a basically lazy day. I am looking forward to hearing from Gator as to how her dinner went last night. Tom asked me on the way home when I am going to have another dinner party. I guess I should have said, "when you hand over $100 for the groceries!"
I have a meeting in the morning, and I have not looked at the materials yet. I will probably do that tonight, or tomorrow morning, before I have to leave for the meeting.
The house is looking fairly good. I just want to keep on top of stuff and keep it looking better and better. I still have a ton of clutter to get rid of. I think I will start following flylady emails more closely! :)
Tom and I went for a walk today. It felt very good to do that, even though at the time my back was spasming and I was really feeling a good bit of pain. I have to get a new battery for my pedometer...the low battery light is flashing. I first need to find the little instruction book so I know which kind of battery to get and how to get the battery compartment open! I think I need a tiny little screwdriver to do it...bummer! So, I don't know my steps, but we walked for 25 minutes. The weather was great for it.
I am going to go get some stuff done before bed. I will be back on in the morning to start the board....
