Good morning everyone.... Just got off the treadmill. Will work with my little handweights soon and then hopefully go to the gym later. My eating over the week end wasn't as good as it should have been and I did have wine two nights in a row. Hopefully I still will come out okay anyway. What is everyone going to do for Valentines Day? Today is my sister's birthday. I think I might cook DH a nice pot roast in the pressure cooker. Unless he wants to go out to dinner. Hint hint....... B-ww peanut butter bagel and juice L- Smart One t.v. dinner It has a meat and vegetable in it. D- Will probably be pot roast, vegetable (new mixture Monet) and a salad....

Monet- Thanks for starting the board. Thats so good of you. I loved reading about your chinese dinner..

Hi everyone!! Here I am, back from the missing person's list. I've been laying low because I've been so absent from my air dyne. And I haven't lost one friggen pound. Unless I fluctuate up to 171/172, then it goes back to 170, but I still can't break that barrier. So, here I sit with my bowl of oatmeal and my orange and coffee...and once I'm done, I"m going up to start the new week off with a daily schedule of once breakfast is over, I sit on the airdyne for at least 15 mins...more if all's well. Such as my son hasn't tried to start the house on fire or turned the bathroom into a waterpark for his hotwheels. Which is why early morning was good for me because everyone was still asleep and then I could slip in the shower as well. But this is just not possible with the DH trying to get ready for work and the DD trying to get ready for school. And there is no other room to put the airdyne...we live in a small 3BR colonial that was built in the 1880's and wasn't built for today's clutter friendly families!! LOL So, I'm trying to come up with a plan that involves mornings and keeping my son busy so he doesn't get into trouble. With the airdyne, it makes a lot of noise from the wind resistance, so I'ts hard to hear if anything's going awry in the house...

I'm just so sad about the exercise, though...I had a GREAT routine I started last fall after my DD went back to school. There is a lighthouse three miles from my house and its such a lovely walk to it on a single lane road along the river and I would put my DS in the stroller and walk him briskly all the way there and back...I'd be sweating and my pulse way up there and it was GREAT!! And then my son decided to boycott his stroller and said it was boring. I gave him some small binoculars so he could watch the birds and the boats and that lasted all of 15 mins. And then I gave him DD's portable CD player so he could listen to music on the way there and back and he liked that for a couple trips, then got bored of that. Or I'd have to keep stopping to change to a different song or something. But I really miss my trips to the lighthouse. But that wouldn't be very do-able inthe winter anyways because it is COLD with the wind coming off the lake, so, anyway...it was nice while it lasted.

Well, the last orange is down the hatch!! On the airdyne I go!!

PS...Monet...you put us to shame with your entertaining abilities...I'm waaaay to unorganized to pull off such an event!! I'm so glad it went off without too many hitches!! :)

Ok, I am SO discouraged I could scream. I was walking out to get in the car to take James to work, with the plan to go straight to Curves to work out. I wanted to get in four or five days this week. Well, its overcast and rainy here, and therefore the garage was dark. I missed the bottom two steps and fell down them, landed on my left knee on the concrete floor, and scraped it pretty badly. Thankfully, I did not tear a hole in my favorite pants. SO, instead of working out, I am home, nursing a sore, scraped knee and wanting to PUNCH something. Why is it that everytime I get motivated to work out regularly, something happens? I was sick last week, and could not work out, now its anyone's guess how long it will take for the knee to heal enough for me to work out. I feel like the Goodyear blimp with these extra 30 pounds I have gained since last summer, when my thyroid went wacky, and then my surgery exacerbated it....I just want to scream.

Ok, I am taking deep breaths and trying to calm down....

Good Monday Morning and a Happy Valentines Day to All of you.

Hope everyone had a great weekend.

My eating was so so. Friday night had to have fried fish as they ran out of the baked by the time we got to eat. I had it with slaw and green beans. Wine later. Sat we took DD to dinner after tha game and they wanted Mexican. Need I say more. Back on track today. But I'm starving.

Monet, thanks for starting the boards. I'm glad you dinner was such a success. But I knew it would be. Sorry about the knee. Maybe it will be bette tomorrow and you can still make it to Curves.

Toni, sounds like you got a good start on your exercise for today. We are not doing anythign for Valentines Day. I have a meatloaf already cooked and have to run by the funeral home on my way home (BIL's sister died). Plan to get my exercise in after that. Nothing exciting or romantic.

Tech, don't stay away b/c you lack in exercise or eat off plan. that's when you need us the most. Glad you have worked out a way to get back on the bike. Hang in there.

Got to run.

Just a fly by....

I posted on the hysterectomy board a response to a woman who was touting the wonders of soy. I very factually stated its detrimental effect on thyroids, and man, you would think I attacked her religion or something! She posted another inflamatory post trying to rally the group against me! This makes me want to go ahead and get my naturopathic doctorate so I have the credentials to blow her away! Um, not good motivation, though, huh?

I emailed Fillise to find out where she was. She is busy, and dealing with the lack of sunshine and warmth. I did not threaten her, but if she is not back soon, I may have to drive over to Auburn and connect some foot to some tushie.

Ok, off to take a nap. I think I deserve it. :)

Hi everybuddy,

Hope everyone has a good week.

Monet--sorry to hear about your fall. Just ice it and rest it--go heavy on the ice, like all day! Then maybe you'll get back to Curves sooner than you think.

Tech--keep trying to find something that will work for your schedule on the bike. And, don't forget, you are the parent--your DS is the child. So YOU get to decide where you both are going to walk. Maybe he is ready for a trike, when the snow melts. Or maybe he can walk by himself. I actually forget how old he is. :( Anyway, good luck on the exercise.

I have 8000 steps so far. I just strapped that little ped-o on first thing this morning after my shower, and it counts everything I've done. I got in my 2 mile walk and then did lots of running around for groceries and this and that. I will work out with the weights this afternoon at the gym. I have my 3rd quiz in French tomorrow, and a test next week, so will be studying all afternoon except when I'm working out.

Not much news here. My Bday is tomorrow, so I get a little short changed on Valentines day. My DH treats me so well all the time, tho, so I really don't mind.

Bye.

Monet, now that dosen't sound much like a support board to me.

I have had a terrible time today with feeling munchy. Maybe I need to eat some veggies. I had some popcorn earlier...but it did not hit the spot like I thought it would. I am trying to stay out of the kitchen to keep from eating things I shouldn't.

JACK: Yeah, I got a private message from another poster there telling me she thought my post was interesting, and kindly stated. I went and looked up the crazy woman's posts, and she is crazy. She is all over the place, and can't spell or write in logical sentences. At least that kind of post drives ME crazy!

GATOR: Wow on the steps! I did not wear my ped on Saturday, and I really wish I had! I bet I got in 10k steps just walking back and forth from the table to the stove! Good luck on your quiz! I have been resting my knee today, and it is not as bad as I thought it might be. I may give Curves a try tomorrow.

TECH: I can relate to your frustrations on the changing of routines that were working for you. I got into the habit of getting up and walking hard on the treadmill back a few years ago. After a few weeks, I was really hoofing it on it, and getting really used to it too! Then Tom got laid off, and was home in bed sleeping right next to the treadmill. Once he was up, I just could not seem to consistently get on and get my walk in. Then, he got a job and I got sick, and could not work out for a few weeks. I lost the momentum and could not get it back. It is frustrating. I wish I could think of a solution to your light house walk problem. Having a little one in tow makes it challenging. He can't walk that far, and I can understand why he would be bored sitting in a stroller all the way. Maybe in a while, he will be able to ride a bike while you walk. In the meantime, I hope you can figure out something that will work for you. I know how it feels to do everything right and not lose. I have been there for years. Right now, I want to scream and rant over the 30 I have gained back and can't get to budge. Its just not fair! Others can stick to a diet and lose, why can't I? Oh, well. Sorry to whine.

I guess I will go take a nap. I have already taken two today, and it actually felt pretty good. Maybe I will sit in the recliner and read some. I should go to the store and get something I need for dinner tonight, but I just don't feel like it. I am planning on Beef Wellingtons, but I don't have the mushrooms. I don't use the pate' cause I don't like it!

Later!

Well, I got 11824 steps in today. I expect more tomorrow because I plan to do my 2 mile walk in the am. and then park off campus and walk to class, which will give me a bunch more. I guess I should post on the exercise board, but I saw that things were kinda slow here, so decided to check in. Where is everyone? Pancho? Country? Fruit?

Ellen
02-14-2005, 11:13 PM
How depressing! We only have ten responses so far today?! BOB, FILLISE, PANCHO, FRUIT, KENGJW, COUNTRY, SEF, SEBRAY...where are you guys?

I made Beef Wellington for dinner, with Bearnaise sauce and steamed broccoli and carrots. We drank a couple of glasses of red wine too...Condensa de Leganza which is sold at Costco and really a great wine for the price.

I made Tom's smoothies and lunch for tomorrow, and cleaned up the kitchen a bit. I still need to decide what I am going to make for dinner tomorrow night. I did not do much today, but I think I will go ahead and go to Curves tomorrow. My knee is sore, but not that bad....and I just don't want to get set back on the exercise by not going.

I am off to read a bit before bed. Talk to you all tomorrow!

Hi everyone, I feel bad because I inadvertently posted on last weeks board yesterday! Must have been the hearts and flowers...DH got me lovely roses and lilies. I cooked him shrimp scampi last night. I'm sure it had too much fat, but at least the rice was brown. I ate too many starches yesterday and tried to make up for it by walking extra on the treadmill last night, 75 mins, plus 70 crunches on the ab lounger. I'll hit the gym today after work and walk some more tonight while DH is at his meeting.
We're trying to plan trips for the summer. SO far we've reserved a campsite in the Adirondacks for 4 days in July, and we're looking at rentals on Cape Cod for June. I told DH I would rather do some smaller, less expensive trips this year(last year we did a 2 week trip). We need to find something for August too.

tech - I hope that you can find something that works for you. I used to walk my sons everywhere and it really helped me.

monet - glad that your knee feels better, just go a little easier at Curves, you'll be fine. I had a muscle spasm once that I thought would keep me out of the gym, but I just lowered the weights on the leg machines and kept going. It really helped a lot.

Hope that everyone had a nice Valentine's Day!

Good Morning Ladies.

I had dinner all cooked last night and ont he way home I called DH and told him to warm up the meatloaf. He said I thinkwe will go get some ribs (my favorite food). I told him we already had dinner. He said it would keep for another night. So we did. I ate way to many ribs and was miserable all night and am still miserable :pig: At least I had green beens and slaw with it.

I did manage to get my wt training in when we got home. I was too full to do the treadmill though.

So today I am eating very light. My sister is taking me to dinner tonight for my birthday tomorrow so I think we will go to Texas Roadhouse so we can get meat, salad and veggies.

DH gave me some perfume, a CD and an ice srcaper. I broke mine in the last snow and he jockingly said he would get me one for Valentines, and he did.

Gator, Happy Birthday :hat: :hb: :gift: :balloons: Hope you have a wonderful day.

Monet, glad your knee is feeling better. 3 naps? I would be up all night after just 1.

Barbara, I am just in awe over the time you spend on the TM. Plus all the other exercise you do. Cape Cod sounds wonderful. Is it very expensive?

Where is everyone? We need to pick up the posts. Have to get ready for a meeting. Be back later.

Have a great OP day.

I took James to work this morning (didn't fall down the steps today...that is an accomplishment!), then I went to the credit union, then to Curves, where I did a full workout. I feel much better now for working out!

Small group comes tonight. I am not sure what I will fix. I have some chicken breasts I need to use up and some green beans, so it will probably include those two things! :)

Breakfast this morning was ww waffles drizzled with agave and sausage. I had hot tea to drink. I am finding that avoiding milk products really seems to help my digestive system.

I need to go make my bed, and clean up a bit. Shame on me for not making it first thing this morning.

JACK: Yep, three naps...and I still slept well last night. I think the weekend was catching up with me. :) My hubby did not give me anything at all for Valentine's day. James on the other hand, bought me a set of artistic magnetic poetry. Those are those little words you can put on the fridge to make sentences out of. He got himself a genius set...we spent a long time playing with them on the fridge last night. I tried to put away the suggestive words, like turgid, hard, stroke...but I saw this morning they were back up on the fridge. This is going to be VERY interesting.....

WOOD: How sweet of you hubby to get you flowers and all. I noticed your post on the other thread, and read it. No problem! How DO you stay on the treadmill so long? 30 minutes bores me to death!

woodfrogs
02-15-2005, 01:17 PM
I forgot to post my food!
egg, bacon, cheese on whole grain toast(1 slice)
orange/apple
peanuts
carb control yogurt
will probably warm up the leftover scampi from last night, DH has a meeting tonight for his community theater group.(I will walk!)

Jack-K: Cape Cod is beautiful! I love to go there when I can. I like to go camping, so that way it isn't expensive. DH wants to get a weekly rental this time, and depending on where you are and how big the place is - it's looking reasonable. I'm hoping we can get a couple to go with us and split the cost, but if not, that's OK too. I've become very focused on my exercise. It's like a light went off "burn more calories!" :)

Monet: We have the treadmill in front of the big tv. I put on headphones and watch whatever shows I've recorded. 75 mins = 2-1 hr shows, 43 mins = 1 1 hr show. I always fast forward thru the commercials. It makes it much easier to walk that way. Sometimes I'll take a quick break between shows to refill my water or move laundry around. I'm just hoping that all this exercise helps me drop the rest of this weight in a fairly timely fashion!

Barbara

Ellen
02-15-2005, 03:13 PM
WOOD: Even if you don't drop all the weight, you will feel more energetic and be healthier from the exercise, so go for it! If you DON'T lose, try upping your calories, or reducing your workouts. You CAN over train....

Monet, who-Hoo, you made it to Curves. Does anyone else ever cook for these groups?

Barbara, You should be nice and toned even if the pounds aren't dropping. I'm not into camping. Holiday Inn is my idea of camping. It is more fun to go with another couple too. i ususally put CMT on the TV and crank it up really loud and go at it. But I seem to watch the time and mileage more than I should.

Have a great evening all.

Hi all. Sorry I havnt been around for a few days. I have been sick as a dog now for three days and not getting any better as of yet. I really hate this cause I never get this sick. I cant even remember the last time I was like this, so Ive tried to be strong and work the past two days and I think Im just making it worse. So I may just stay home tomorrow and rest all day long.
Ill be back nice and strong soon. :)

Where has the day gone?! I've been a lazy toad today. I did to much yesterday so didn't feel so hot today, so I only did my treadmill today and didn't go to the gym. I'll try and do hand weights yet today. I couldn't believe DH brought me a heart filled with chocolates for valentines day. EEEEkkkkk. So they're sitting there with a big red bow on. I can't get rid of them cause I don't want to hurt his feelings. I'll just have to use it as a reminder of my old eating habits. And STAY out of that box. Hope we all have a good WIW. B- ww bagel with peanut butter, juice L- some leftover roast S- almonds, dried apricots D- salmon, vegetable and salad.

Monet: I used to do 3 strength training sessions a week, but dropped to 2, my body likes it better. And I think I'm eating enough. I need to add triscuits and cheddar to my food for the day, and I somehow managed to forget my apple. But I don't walk very fast on the tm, usually between 2.6-3.0. I'll probably do at least 30 mins tonight, I'll see how ambitious I feel....

I decided to make bbq chicken breasts for dinner. Easy...just cut the huge chicken boobs from Costco in half and dump a bottle of Whole Foods BBQ sauce over them, and throw it in the oven. I will let you know how it tastes. :) I am also making brown rice and green beans.

I had a lazy day, like Toni! I can't remember what I did besides go to Curves. :o
Ok, are ya'all ready for this? I wasn't! My daughter comes in to my room this afternoon, and tells me that she owes me $40! Now I know what she is talking about, but I totally forgot. She actually knew I had, but decided to be honest. So, she went to Whole Foods and got me milk and butter, then gave me a check for the balance! I am in shock! :faint:

JACK: Not usually...though one week two guys cooked. They melted my plastic turning tool holder, and one of the burner controls, so I think I would rather cook myself! I think I need a vacation though. I just am NOT into doing this tonight. I would much rather chill....

We are leaving for Scottsdale tomorrow afternoon, so this probably will be my last post for this week. We get back late Sunday afternoon. My DH has a seminar out there, so I'm going along for the ride.

The kids came over tonight and cooked dinner (steaks, creamed spinach, salad, cheesecake). It was fun and a lot easier than going out. They even cleaned up the kitchen. The funniest thing that happened today was a phone call from the 3 guys that work at the small gym where I work out. They called and all 3 sand Happy Birthday. It was funny!!

Got 13000+ steps in today. Ever since I got my new ped-o it is really easy to rack up the steps. I don't think my old one was counting all my steps, and I think this one adds a couple of steps to every 100 I take. So for 13000 steps, that would be 260 steps that it added. I figure I walk about that much before I put my ped-o on in the morning.

Gotta go pack. My French test was OK. Not sure how I did. The prof is disorganized. He wrote the quiz in class while we all sat there, and then he called out 15 words and we had to indicate what kind of syllable vowel sound it was. Believe me, I am not finding it easy. I'll miss Thursday's class, and have a big test in there on Tuesday. Guess I'll study on the plane.

Take care and have a good SB rest of the week.

Well, I officially HATE the metal monster! All that exercise and the darn thing didn't budge an ounce!! What kind of incentive is that??! Oh well, guess I'll keep plugging along. Hopefully something will change soon, it's sort of depressing to be stuck for months....
todays food:
apple/orange
egg, bacon, cheese on whole grain toast(1 slice)
1/2 pb sandwich on whole grain
triscuits and cheese
not sure about dinner yet...it's bowling night
Will probably walk for 30 mins when I get home this afternoon

I hope that everyone else is doing better than I am!

Good morning all. Well I stayed the same this week. Which I'll gladly take because I had a big loss last week and I usually don't do well after a big loss. I'm hanging in there with the old treadmill. I hope I keep it up. I have to just take one day at a time.

Woodfrogs- Hopefully next week on that dang scale will be better for us! You sure do allot of great exercise!!

Gatorgal- Belated Happy Birthday. What a nice thing for your kids to do. It would be a treat for someone else to cook your dinner...

Monet- How was the chicken? Barbeque sounds so good to me...

Cindy- I hope you're feeling better.... Rest loads and drink lots of water....

Just a quickie before I run off to my meeting.

Dinner with my sister was nice. Her DD and her kids came along too so it was nice. I did manage to get in 23 minutes of wts and 1 mile onthe TM. I had planned to skip the TM but thought I needed it. The scale was up 1 pound today. Oh well. Keep on trucking.

Cindy, sure hope you are feeling better. Get some rest, that should help.

Toni, do men have half a brain? Pass out the chocolates to your family/friends secretively.

Monet, how do you find sf BBQ sauce? I have only found one, Low Carb.I know what you mean about the money and kids. I picked up something for my DD and she asked me how much it was. I told her and out the door she went. I'll never see that money. Oh well.

Gator, have a nice trip. I'm sure you did better on your test than you think. Glad you had a nice birthday dinner. It was great that they cleaned up too.

Barbara, Even though you didn't lose pounds you are probably losing inches with all that exercise. Something has to be happening. Hang in there.

Got to run. Be back later.

I was up two this morning on the metal monster. Kind of ruined my day. I feel rather hopeless about getting any weight off. It seems to keep creeping up no matter what I do.

Breakfast this morning was two sausage patties, and two ww waffles (Publix brand) with agave. I am drinking hot tea.

I may not go to Curves this morning. I really just feel like crawling back in bed. I have a friend coming over at 1 for 'coffee' though it may be tea, since I am trying not to have any milk products for a while. Hopefully she won't mind...she usually doesn't.

I need to go yell at James. I have been trying to get him up for over an hour....he is going to be late for work---AGAIN. sheesh....

Happy birthday to our birthday chicks!!

WIW....hmmm....let's see...the scale says
EXACTLY 170!!

We'll see...I haven't been exercising except on Monday I managed 15 mins on the AD and some crunches. I had leftover chili for lunch yesterday and it didn't agree with me at all. I was up last night a few times with a feeling of rocks in my stomach and thought for sure I'd be in the bathroom, but I didn't and now my stomach is still feeling heavy and I have a feeling I may be sick later. I truly hate that...but, hey, maybe it'll make the scale budge...at least it's a silver lining, albeit a slightly tarnished silver lining...not exactly the way I want to loose weight. So, I'm off to go have some tea and thinking of Monet having some too... On the bright side, it's snowing here in chuncks and has been all morning!! I love that...it's all currier and ives looking with the trees all white, and we live in a very old village with big, giant maple trees (7 just in our yard!) and they're all pure white now...just lovely!! So, I'm going to go sit on the couch and read a book and will myself to feel better. Bye, guys...will do replies some other time..the computer chair is not where I want to be sitting at the moment... :(

Talk to yas later!! Kris

A fly by...my friend came and left. Our conversation was not as lively as usual. Not sure why...but it was ok. I ate a few pieces of sushi Laura brought home...and had a couple thin slices of New Year cake- which is not legal, but not very sweet- so I have not been good today. I went to Costco and got stuff we needed. I got some flank steak and I am making beef jerky to carry on the retreat this weekend. We will be leaving Friday noon, and be coming back Sunday afternoon. I can't wait! A weekend alone with my hubby, and all our friends from church! Yay!

ANGEL: Good to see you back! I need to drink more water too....

TECH: Hmm, I think I ought to come drink tea with you, and while we are drinking tea, my husband can climb your maple trees. He is a member of TreeClimbers International. They climb with ropes and saddles...he loves it! It will have to be summer though...he doesn't do winter.

Hi everyone. It's so slow on the board, I almost feel like I'm talking to myself! Went and did our regular bowling league last night, I managed to twist my poor arthitis-y finger mid-way thru the 2nd game and it kept aching. I didn't do very well, but we managed to win all 3 games and total pins, so that was great for our team!
Tonight we're having our belated Valentine's Dinner at a local resort, we happen to have free dinner passes, and figured we might as well use them.
their food is always great and they often have healthy choices too, so it shouldn't be too bad.
Food today:
bacon, egg and cheese on whole grain toast(1 slice)
carb ocntrol yogurt
orange
triscuits and cheese later for snack.
I also have a dentist appt this afternoon, so may only get in 20 mins on the TM, but a little bit is better than nothing. I purposely didn't walk yesterday, but now I'm thinking that I should have anyway, just for the routine...
Monet - keep drinking that water. I've got green tea this morning...
Take care everyone!

Thought I'd just say "hi," as I've regularly lurk in your forum here!

As of 33 days ago I've been following Sugar Busters and getting more and more into it; have lost 4.8 pounds just specifically on this program, body fat percentage has changed, jeans falling off and blood sugar is stable. I like it better than any food plan I've ever tried and it's changed my life, actually. I do find it's a little hard to find specific Sugar Busters support and discussion of the plan ... most people I meet in the virtual world think it's South Beach or Atkins and online, the resources are skimpy.

Well, again, just wanted to say hello.

Sugar Busters rocks! :)

Good Morning! I woke up at 4 this morning and could not sleep. I finally got up and made the bed. Then, at about six, Tom got up and wandered back in here. He had left at 3:30 because my snoring was so bad. He was surprised to see me up. I surfed online a bit, looked at a few pages on Sugarbusters, then all of a sudden I was SO sleepy, I could hardly keep my eyes open, but the bed was made! So, I crawled into the recliner wrapped up in a blanket and slept there for two hours! I woke James up late, and I still have not heard him up and in the shower, so I guess he is going to be late for work today. sigh. I am planning on going to Curves this morning, so I wish he would get moving.! I have had a cup of hot tea and two pieces of beef jerky so far today. I may drop all starches for a few days and see if that will help. I think I could not sleep because I was thinking about how fat I feel and how hopeless it seems to be to lose any of it. I just know I need to try something else since I am coasting and not doing a good job of anything.

AMARANTHA: Hi! Welcome to the board! I am so glad you decided to say hello. Sounds like you are doing great on Sugarbusters! I know what you mean about people confusing it with South Beach...which is just a combination of Atkins and Sugarbusters. You have lost a lot of weight already...what plan were you using before you started on SB?

WOOD: I can totally relate to the feeling that you are talking to yourself. I hope its only temporary. I am sorry your finger is bothering you. I have arthritis in my hands some. Have you tried glucosomine, or does it not bother you much? I just got some cream with it in it, and I am hoping it will help my arthritic knees when I work out.

I definitely need more hot tea, or some coffee! Later! :coffee:

Wow its Thursday already and I just finished my last walk of the week on my treadmill. I was hopeing after two weeks I would get stronger from walking on the treadmill but I just don't seem to be able to up my time. I won't give up but am a little disappointed. Anyway so far my eating has been good and I'm hopeing for a good weight loss next week. I'm not getting enough water in so I've got to work on that.

Monet- I hope cutting back on starches help you drop some lbs. Please don't get discouraged, you are such a rock on this board!!!

Jack-K- Sorry I missed your birthday.... Hope it was a happy one...

techwife- I hope you're feeling better and get back on your AD.... Was the book good?

angelnic- Sorry you've been under the weather too. Hope you're feeling good again soon.

woodfrogs- Bowling sounds like fun, I haven't done that in years....

Amarantha- Welcome to the board we're usually busier but something is sure slowing us down. Maybe the flu or something. Hope you stay!!! Its a great place to be and you sound like you're doing well.

Good Morning everyone:

Let me just say I've been busy, busy. I managed to read posts, but wished I had of sooner. It sounds like Gator is in Scottsdale, which isn't too far from me; I would have made a trip over to Scottsdale to meet up with her. I sure hope she enjoys the day today because it sounds like rain is moving in and is supposed to stick around tomorrow, Sat, Sun & Mon. If you check in Gator, send me a PM, and maybe we can meet up.

Britt is getting really bad again with her esophagus/spastic colon...she is due to go back to the doctor on Monday; can't get her in any sooner. She needs to get her drops re-adjusted. She has been having coughing spasms at night, and I had to pick her up at school on Tuesday since her tummy was hurting her so bad. I also pulled her out of Physical Therapy because it is doing nothing to help her with her toe walking. Apparently the orthotics are the only thing that will help since she is completely flat footed, and it is impossible for her to walk flat. Poor little baby; why does she have to suffer so?!

I didn't do well on Valentine's Day, but let's just say I'm doing a lot better now. I weighed 122.5# this a.m., and it's that TOM. Need I say more? So far today, I have only had a bowl of legal cereal w/ blueberries, and some ww pita crackers w/ laughing cow lite wedges. I also drank 1/2 of a Diet Dr. Pepper.

I went to the gym on Monday and Wednesday, and plan to go tomorrow and Saturday. I have also done my AB Scissor two time this week; so I am back on a roll. On Monday, I ran into a friend's sister-in-law....I don't know her very well, and hadn't seen in a long time. We recognized eachother at the same time. She commented on how awesome I look, and said that she was watching me do squats, and said to herself, "I wanna have legs like hers." Is there a smiley face on here that shows a big ego???? That was exactly what I needed to get my motivation back up there. I realized how hard I have worked, and I am not going to let all that work go down the tubes.

Lane has a playgroup that we have to leave for in awhile; it's supposed to be at a park, so I hope the rain holds off for awhile.

Amarantha: Welcome aboard!! We are happy to have you. If you've been lurking than you know that our board is not usually so slow. I think we have a few people in a winter funk, and they will find their way back to the board soon. In the meantime, there are a few of us here for support, so post anytime with any questions, concerns, advice, etc... It sounds like you are doing well; keep up the good work. What is your goal? How close are you to it? SB will definately get you there and keep you there.

Toni: You'll eventually increase your time/intensity on the treadmill; just go at your own pace. What is important, is that you are getting on there and doing it!!!!

Monet: Did you get to Curves? I hope you are not too tired today, waking up so early. I went to bed around 10:30 and slept until 6 a.m.; I am feeling refreshed today. It sounds as if your CNY party was a huge success; I'm sure it was wonderful!! Have you heard from Julia? I'm beginning to be a little concerned...I checked another site that she posts on often, and didn't see any posts from her there either. I know she had a doctor's appt. the beginning of Feb; I sure hope all is alright with her.

Wood: Enjoy the belated night out. I just wanted to ask if you are eating lite/lowfat cheese? I notice that you eat it a few times a day, and wanted to mention that I definately got into a stall when I did that awhile back. Just thought I'd pass that on. I was eating regular though.

Tech: It sounds white and beautiful there! Enjoy curling up with a good book, and a hot drink.
Well, I better run!!! Have a great day everyone!

Where has Teensy been? Wasn't Fillise going out of town again? I know Heart is out of town, and Gator....where's everyone else?????

PANCHO: Good to see you! Fillise is in her winter funk, busy and said she will be back soon. Teensy has been posting on the exercise board, but not here. Heart should be back...I think yesterday. She is probably busy. I don't know why BOB has not posted...and I have not heard from Julia. I too wish she would check in, as I worry about her. I did make it to Curves, but only had time for one circuit as I was meeting Tom for lunch. We did Chili's and I had a burger on a ww bun and steamed broccoli. I have to admit the french fries at the next table looked really good.... I hope you can get Britts meds adjusted right, and quickly. Poor dear...suffering at a young age seems so hard, but honestly, it does build character.

I need to go...I was just walking by the computer...I stopped at home to use the potty and now I am on my way to get new tires! :)

Good afternoon ladies.

Had a meeting this morning and it has been busy all day. Didn't do anything exciting for my firthday. DH wanted totake me out to eat but we had been out Monday and Tuesday and probably tonight and Friday, so I had meatloaf which I made Sunday we had never eaten. So that was it. We will go out with the kids Sat or Sunday.

Did get my tm and wts in last night. About 50 minutes.

Thanks for all the birthday wishes.

Have to go set up for the fish fry tonight. Cut the pies and dish up the slaw into containers. The girl that ususally does it asked me if I could help her and now she can't even be there. I have a friend going with me for help. Then we are going back to her house for burgers.

Monet, thanks I will check for it the next time I am at WF. I love hot and spicy. Sorry your visit with your friend was not whatyou expected. I didn't know Chili's had ww buns. You are such a wealth of info.

TEch, hope your tummy is feeling better today.

Barbara, enjoy your dinner tonight.

Amarantha, welcome. You will find lots of SB support right here. Sounds like you are doing great so far. Join in anytime you like.

Toni, I know what you mean about increasing your time onthe TM. I keep thinking each week I will, and I just can't make it any longer. I think it's all in my head.

Nat, sorry Britt is having so many problems. Hopefully a trip to the dr. will help. Glad you found your motivation again. Nothing like some nice comments to do it.

Have a great evening.

Hey, guys, I'm back! That was the absolute most horrible trip! Totally exhausting! My connection flight in Atlanta(to Meridian) Tuesday was canceled! I ended up having to get a flight to Jackson several hours later and my husband had to drive 1 1/2 hours to get me and then take me home! There was nothing to do at the airport but walk around and...eat. Yep, did okay until then. Boogie and I munched out. Had a plate of pasta for lunch, had a couple candy bars, chex mix, a very indulgent, rich piece of chocolate cheesecake, Wendy's combo, and a protein bar(that morning before the flight)!! I expected the scale to be up about 3 pounds today from Tuesday's eating. But to my surprise(amazing), it was actually down 1 from Sunday morning. I weigh 161 this AM. I knew that my stomach didn't look as bloated but I didn't expect that. I haven't exercised since last week, and I have to teach exercise tonight at church. Wonder how that will pan out. I'll be drinking a sf energy drink on the way, lol. I've been reading about calcium helping your diet, so I'm increasing the yogurt which is also suppose to help with belly fat. Hmmm..we'll see. Boogie is doing fine. I'll tell you later about the visit and such, right now I have to cook supper before I go.

Menu:
Pre-bf - was LC yogurt
BF- 2 eggs topped with some cheese, a spoon of salsa and sour cream. 1 cup 2% CC milk
Snack- LC yogurt
Lunch- Wanted some veggies so I sauteed cabbage, cauliflower, brussel sprouts, broccoli, red onion, in olive oil and garlic and herb seasoning. Had 2 spoons of PB and 1 boiled egg for my protein and "staying power."
Supper- grilling barbecue chicken and sausage(carb well sauce) and salad with Ranch dressing(carb well). Need to watch the sausage intake due to salt and fat.

ALright, I gotta run!

I just got in from getting tires. I expected to get two, and ended up needing four! They gave me one for free, though, so I only had to pay for three and the installation on the fourth. They did an alignment and decided that is why the two on the front that were not that old needed replacing. He said they were bought in Feb. of last year...I could hardly believe it had been a year! Amazing! So now my sweet little five speed Camry is ready to rock on up to the mountains for the weekend! yay!

HEART: Gosh, that is too bad you were stuck in Atlanta. I am about 45 minutes away from the airport, but I would have be happy to come down there and meet up with you. Next time you are going through Atlanta, let me know. I am sorry the trip was not great, but it sounds like you did pretty well in spite of that! I hope the class goes great tonight!

I may have found a cure for the annual February funk. . .

I've spent the last three days planning a trip to italy. We will go the first two weeks in May. I bought the plane tickets today and rented a villa in Tuscany for a week. I've also booked our B&B in Rome. Now I need hotel rooms in Venice and Milan and we are all set. This is my parents 50th anniv present from my DB and me.

Sorry I haven't been on, but I've really been in a bad state the last couple of weeks. It didn't really have anything to do with eating, just it was dark and rainy and my mood really was low. But the trip planning has helped a lot!

Jackie--I'm sorry I missed your B-day! Happy belated birthday!

I'll try to get on in the morning and do replies.

Susan

ps--Monet, no need to put the foot to the fanny!

hi all. Well I think Im almost back to normal. I was able to get to work today. Still have a stuffy head and a cough but felt a whole bunch better. My appetite is not back yet though. Since the beginning of the week I havnt ate more than toast, tricuits and chicken soup so not being so healthy its been nice on the scale. I tried to add a yogurt and part of a apple today but I just dont feel like eating. Maybe tomorrow things will improve in that area.

Fillise: Italy !! that sounds exciting!!

I hope everyones having a wonderful week. And tomorrows Friday !!! Yeah!

My sister flies in from Denver Saturday for 4 days so it will be nice to see her. Shes here to see my dad who is not doing so well at this time.

Have a wonderful evening.

I made fish stuffed won tons for dinner. I had planned to boil them, but the guys wanted them deep fried. I ate two or three, then ate leftover bean curd and parrot (spinach) and some egg drop soup with lots of veggies. The Just My Size web site had a big sale on bras, so I am trying two new styles, cheap.

FILLISE: Oh, drat! I was so looking forward to trying out my new combat boots too! ;) Italy in May sounds divine! You will have such a wonderful time! Make sure you take tons of pictures! It was sunny here today. Was it over there for you? I hope that helped your mood. I even had to wear sunglasses! Now, honestly, isn't it time for an Atlanta run?

CINDY: I am glad you are on the mend! Being sick sucks! I hope you have a good visit with your sister.

Hi everyone!! Just sitting here eating my coffee, grapes, grapefruit and oatmeal. Does oatmeal have enough protein to count as a protein or should I be having an egg, too?

Well, winter is getting old fast. Ten degrees out today and it snowed another few inches yesterday. Last week it went up to 40, but this time of year, that just makes things muddy. You know, the other day I was thinking of a time when I was about 20 and I worked at a TGIFriday's in Rochester. Thoroughly hated that job...until I worked at an Atlanta branch for two weeks to visit a girlfriend of mine in Marietta. The people there were soooooo nice. I remember every single person I met in Atlanta was so completely nice and friendly, way over and above the people up here that I know. So much so that I was making arrangements to permanently move there...until my neice (who is in college now, but was 3 at the time) said, "Aunt Kris, are you really moving to Mylanta?" with a tear in her eye. So, I decided to stay up here. But at times, like lately when it's so cold still... and likely will be well into March...and I say hello to people at the post office and they look at me like I don't know you...why are you saying hi to me...what do you want from me... My son is playing the gamecube yet again today...there is only so much play dohing we can do and going over numbers and letters and practicing writing and such...and it's too cold to go outside, so what else are we supposed to do? I know I can think up a dozen things...but I really just want to get my garden started and I'm feeling just a little cabin feverish. And sort of blue...I'll get over it, I suppose once I take my shower.

Anyhow...the scale is STILL the same. I know exercise would help. My husband mentioned getting a stepper. I just really hate the stationary bike. It hurts my butt and its uncomfortable. But, the good news is, he said if we get a stepper, then we could both get up together a bit early and he'll ride the bike while I do the stepper. I found one at Sears that also has a spinning platform that you can stand on behind the stepping part and spin back and forth while holding some handles to work your obliques. Which would be GREAT!! Now we just have to find the cash to buy it and we'll be all set. Which should be fun...with prices these days...We just got 150 gallons of fuel oil and now its up to $2.04 a gallon!! It was like $1.30 when we first moved here five years ago. And it's been so cold that we haven't even paid them off from their last trip here earlier in the winter!! Sometimes I really wish I'd moved to Atlanta...

Anyhow...grapefruit tastes really vile just after brushing your teeth :p . I have to go have some coffee or something to get the toothpaste taste out or put away the grapefruit until lunch or something.

I'd do replies today, but as you can see from the above, I'm feeling rather self-absorbed today. Hopefully I'll get to replies later.

C-yas!! Kris

Happy TGIF!

Man has it been a long week. I am ready for the weekend for sure. I have been tired all week.

Didn't get in any exercise yesterday other than walking down 6 flights of stairs during a meeting. But did gt in3 days this week.

Going to get my nails done tomorrow and while I am there I'm going to ask one of the hairdressers to look at my hair and see if there is anything that can be done with it yet. I am sick of the wig and it is showing out the bottom. it is so curly and unruly. Plus so gray. I have to get it colored first but it needs to be tamed somehow.

Cindy, glad you are feeling beetter. Gee I never lose my appetite. Have a nice visist with your DS. prayers for your DD.

Heart, glad you are home safe and sound. Airlines these days are so unreliable. Can't wait to hear the outcome of the trip.

Monet, I can't beleive you needed new tires so quickly. Shouldn't they last about 5 years? You must be a heck of a driver.

Susan, the trip sounds so nice. I assume you are going with your parents? May will be here before you know it. Glad you are back on here. We missed you.

Teensy, where are you? I know you are lurking.

Country, Have you abandoned us?

Bob, get back on here.

Tech, hope your shower got you out of your funk. If I ever move, which I doubt that I ever will, it will definately be south. I hate winter too. It is so depressing and lately all we have had is rain and no sunshine.Wish I had the money to travel in the winter.

Got to run, boss needs me.

Hello all!

Last night I went to our Longhorn steakhouse for dinner. They had a HUGE 18 oz steak. It was only $2.00 more than the 7 oz steak so I ordered it. Needless to say, Belle and I will be dining on leftover steak all weekend! It was delicious though. I'm about to pop some flour (WW of course) into the bread machine so I can have a steak sandwich tonight! Belle loves steak. She was yelling at me to cut it faster for her last night! I've never seen a cat so gonzo over beef.

Jackie--I bet you will be glad to get rid of the wig. I hear they are really hot and scratchy. I hope it will be soon for you! I am going to Italy with my parents. They were stunned when I called yesterday and told them I bought the plane tickets. We've been talking about it for months, but I think they thought it wasn't really going to happen.

Kris--I sympathize with you. I complain about the funk here, but I've lived in hard winter land and you how really confining it can be. White brown and gray are the only colors in the landscape. Spring WILL come--we have to keep muttering that to ourselves (and I had forgotten how truly messy things get when it does warm up in the winter). Hang in there and keep warm!

Monet--So sorry to disappoint! ;) I do need a trip up that way--I'm down to four bottles of agave (shriek!). ;) Have fun on you retreat this weekend!

Cindy--I hope you feel better soon!

Time to get the bread machine going!

Good Morning! Tom has taken the day off and is doing an upper body workout before we get packed up and leave for the weekend. I can't wait! I am using my new suitcase I got for Christmas for the first time too! The weather is gorgeous...blue skies, sunny and mild temps. Its a perfect weekend to wander up into the north Georgia mountains. I have not had breakfast yet, but it will be eggs and probably some bacon or sausage. I will fix stuff for Tom and I when he is done in a bit. So far, I have had one cup of coffee. I am going for another in after I finish this. I hope the weekend will be good food wise. I don't know what the food is like at this place...the place we went last year was AWFUL, so we changed locations. The food is supposed to be good, but who knows if good means healthy, or just tasty by normal standards!

TECH: Oh, man, how I WISH you had moved to Atlanta! Even Marietta! That would be so totally cool to have you so close! I am about 20-30 minutes from there, but here in Hotlanta, that is nothing. You could still move. There are jobs down here for your techie husband. Lots of them, in fact. And just think of all the money you would save on heating oil, galoshes, coats, scarves, and mittens!

JACK: Ok, insult my driving eh? :) The problem was NOT my driving...honest! The balance and alignment was off. Hopefully, it should be fine now. I honestly think since he was so quick to offer me a free alignment and a free tire, there was something he knew about the quality of those particular tires. I did not even ask. He offered. Interesting. Anyway, I am good for about six months now. Then I need to go in and have the tires rotated, balanced and have the alignment checked again.

Ok, that is it for me. I will be back on Sunday and let you know how it all went. I plan to take my digital camera and if I get any good pix, I will post them. I hope everyone has a great weekend! I'll miss you all while I am gone. Be good!

FILLISE: We were posting at the same time! Plan a trip over then. I will be out of town the first week of March, so try not to plan it then! It would really be awful if you came and I was not here! I hope Harry's gets more of the Sweet Cactus Farms agave in soon...all they have is the Madhava or whatever that brand is. Its wild agave, and the SCF is blue, and with a lower GI than the wild.

Funny thing about my trip to Atlanta... I couldn't believe the day I woke up and it had snowed two inches and the whole city shut down for the day! I flew on an airplane going south for two hours and Atlanta was closed!! And to think I brought my bathing suit so I could sit by the pool!! BUt after one week's time I had a job, a roomate and a boyfriend!! I could have been very successful if I'd moved south, that's for sure!! And the cool thing was at the Friday's they were all abuzz about the week before, Mick Jagger pulled in on his motorcycle, no helmet on so everyone knew it was him, and had a burger. And I was on a constant Bo Duke watch...apparently, he lived around the corner and frequented the place a lot. I would have passed out. BUt I definitely felt an immediate kinship with my southern counterparts and quit my job at Fridays in Rochester shortly after coming back after being reminded how unfriendly and grumpy everyone was in my own back yard. Much like my life now...I live in a tiny little town here where most people that live here are third/fourth generation locals and, although they are basically okay towards us, they definitely treat us as though we're 'not from around here'. It's really annoying talking to someone and then they interrupt you in the middle of a sentence and talk to someone they're close to. Or the other person will just walk up and talk over me in the middle of a conversation as if I were invisible. I jsut hate that. As you can see...I'm still in my funk.

For lunch today I had a strawberry/banana smoothie with a turkey burger patty on the side.

Off to go get ready for the girl scouts!! :dizzy: We're quilting and embroidering today...

Hi, all. Just a flyby. Thanks to those who welcomed me! :)

Monet, thanks for the answer I can tell folks when they tell me Sugarbusters is South Beach! I've also been told a lot that I shouldn't be eating fruit because it has carbs in it! :) Again, I don't consider Sugar Busters a low-carb plan; I think it's a good carb plan. Re my previous weight loss, most of it was just counting cals and exercising, both of which I still do. I know Sugar Busters says it isn't necessary to count cals but I do it out of habit. It's so easy to stick to a moderate cal amount when I'm no longer having cravings, which is what Sugar Busters accomplished for me.

Pancho (BTW, I also live in Arizona), my goal is 135. I know I will reach it now. Had doubts before ... hard to get fit when eating donuts all day. I really love Sugar Busters! :) Have never been this enthusiastic about a WOE before.

To all, sorry for the lack o' individual posties.

I do have some questions re the plan, but shall just lurk on, if that's ok, for awhile and see how y'all go about implementing it.

I would really like it if there was a Sugar Busters revival and a new book!

Bye y'all!

Hey, guys. I'm holding at 160 today, so only 1 pound before I'm back at my low. Would like to lose a couple before we go to Disney on the 2nd, that way hopefully, I won't be no higher than I am today when I get back. Speaking of leaving, MONET, we have connection flights in Atlanta(sigh) again. On the way there, there isn't enough time for a meet. But on the way back there is. Unfortunately, the time sucks. We are due to arrive in Atlanta at 8:48 PM on the 6th(Sunday), and we depart for home at 11:28 PM.
Anyway, the trip to Philly- I hate Philly. So much that I wouldn't even buy a souvenir. Sorry, Philly fans. Every time I go, I encounter the rudest people. The thing is, I've come to realize that they don't think they are being rude, it's simply their way of life. Well, they can have it, I'm so glad to be back in the hospitality of the South. And no, I'm not trying to tick off any Northerners. I've met alot of nice people in the North as well. Just don't have a nice experience for the times I've been to Philly. Anyway, the hospital visit- it was exhausting. Boogie was "tested" all day. Only had a 1 hour lunch break. They test him mainly using pictures and asking tons of questions pertaining to the pics. Well, when a 4 year old has sat in one place for 2 hours, he gets cranky(and so do I), then he figured out that the quicker he answered, that meant that the lady could turn the page, go on to the next, and the quicker his session would be over. SO...he started using wrong answers on purpose so he could hurry up and get thru. Of course, they didn't know it so they jotted everything down. So when I get the summary in 3-4 months, I'm taking it with a huge grain of salt because I know my little stinker is smarter than what they are going to say he is. I did find out that he has at least a 25% chance of developing ADHD. And he is showing signs, but not old enough yet to confirm. He does have trouble with concentration at times and short attention span. The neurologist seen him and asked him to hop on one leg at a time, he did and then he said that another 4 year old should have been able to do it longer before losing his balance and then he did a hand test where you turn it over and back several times. It looked good to me, but he said it was a slight hesitation(I didn't catch it). So his opinion is that there is a slight effect on the brain from low sat's and being on bypass. But not enough to notice in everyday life. I have never noticed it. And really still didn't. So basically, that's all I know so far until I get the summary. The docs and the genetics docs did remark on how energetic and normal looking he was. Duh.

I'm not doing anything right now. I need to exercise considering I've only done so once this week. Later on, I have to get my car fixed, the axle. That's about it. I rented Cellular to watch this evening. Last night we watched Shark Tale. It was alright, although NEMO was way better. I didn't like the way they made a cartoon about scamming, lying, money, and such for little kids. BOB- I want to see The Notebook, too, they were out. Well, my eating has been pretty good, although yesterday I ate too much SF chocolate and paid for it with toxic gas(tmi). Here is today's menu which is subject to change, but will remain legal.

BF- had 3 eggs topped with cheese, salsa, and sour cream. 1 cup 2% CC milk
Lunch- will be huge salad with veggies, can chicken, little cheese, Ranch dressing. OR I may cook me some veggies in olive oil and garlic followed by a couple of spoons PB for protein?? Dunno.
Supper- cooking chili with beans. Top with sour cream.

Hello everyone.
My first chance to get here today. Still carrying the head cold but feeling pretty good. Had to get my sister at the airport an off to my folks we went. Then My mom had gotton Chinese for dinner and I didnt have much choice on what to eat. I had two pieces of coated chicken ( with a sugary sauce) and about 10 minutes later felt instantly nausous. There was some beef and brocilli so I had some of that but I know Ill be swelled from the msg tomorrow. Now I wish I would of brought along a salad or protein shake..or something other than that. I have avoided chinese as much as I possibly can since lcing . I used to love it but after tonight I think I have a change of heart. One you get away from some of these foods and then try them again , makes you wonder how you used to eat them all the time. I can made my own stirfrys here at home that are tons healther and taste way better.

My menu for today was pretty lousy:
b- 1/2 ww bagel with 1 tbl creamcheese, 2 bacon
L- 3 triscuits with chedder
D- stated above with some brocilli spears added in.
snack- small handful of macadamia nuts

I only got in one day of exercise since I was so sick last week then I took my normal friday/saturday days off. So tomorrow night I should be back on scheduled. Hey , maybe it helped to take some time off. Ill scare my body back into working out again !

Have a great eve :)

I am going to fly by here. We just walked in the door from the retreat. It was awesome. My eating was horrible, as the food was actually pretty good, but not very legal. I could have passed on the grits, etc., but I did not. We stopped at the older daughter's on the way back and I got my cellphone back. yay! On the way there, we stopped but they were not home. We then drove up to Rabun Gap to see Tom's cousin. He lives on the side of a mountain up there, and we laughed when we found his wife was having a swimming pool installed! They had to build a steel case for it...put its right there, on the side of the mountain and looks like it might fall off! haha!

I need to go unpack, so I will check in later!
