Ellen 01-17-2005, 09:21 AM Good Morning!
There was great response to last weeks challenges! :cheer: Lets do it again this week!
SO: See how many red Xs or Os you can get on your calendar this week! You get one for each day you stay on program all day! Shoot for seven!
AND: Lets keep that exercise board hopping! Last week was the first time in months and months that we had two pages! Lets do it again! (yeah, I know I failed, but this week, I will try harder!) If everyone got in three days of exercise, and posted it, we would have more than three pages!
Drink your water!
Now, go out there and make this a tan-fabulous week!
Solly 01-17-2005, 09:43 AM Good Morning Ladies.
Gee Monet, you are awful demanding this week, exercise, posting, X's and water. I'm there with you though.
Brr, it was sure cold here this morning. I think it is 11 degress. is it May yet?
Weekend was good. eating was 90%. My only indescretions were hamburgers from Wendys' (jr one) and one from Mcdonalds. Everything else was legal, even my dinner at TGIFridays. I had the baked grouper.
Need to get busy. Will be back later.
Ellen 01-17-2005, 09:54 AM Good Morning!
I had my breakfast...Scottish Oatmeal cooked in milk and topped with a bit of agave and a tad of butter. I also have my first cup of coffee with half and half. :coffee:
I feel stiff today, a bit sore, but I also feel inspired to walk a lot more. My swelly belly is actually better today than it has been in a LONG time. Unfortunately, the metal monster says I am up two pounds!
It's really cold here! Brr! I let the cat out, he sat on the deck for a few minutes, then decided to come back in. Poor thing! It looks beautiful out...sunny, blue skies, but boy, that cold is bitter.
Right now I am waiting on James to get ready so I can drive him to work. I am actually pleased that his boss asked him to start coming in between 9 and 10. He did not care if he came in at 11, or whatever, but the company was moving towards two schedules, and he felt it important that his department comply. I can now have more freedom in my mornings without worrying about him getting to work. This morning, after I drop him off, I will probably head over to Publix and get a few things we need. I am trying not to spend too much on groceries, but it seems I am always over there!
JACK: I was at TGIFridays Friday night...and had the baked grouper! Did you get their $12.99 special? What a deal! Its cold here too...I can't wait for it to warm up!
techwife 01-17-2005, 10:39 AM Hi guys!!! Well, I survived the sleepover with the girl scouts. My air mattress deflated so I ended up sleeping mostly on the floor, but I was totally off plan with eating...pizza...ice cream...chex mix...and a donut for breakfast. I'm pretty sure this is the last illegal eating event to come up for some time, so I should be without temptation for a while and will be able to get right to it and delve deep into the 160's....maybe even 150's? Today for bf is going to be poached eggs on ww toast and some grapes...lunch will be legal as will dinner...I promise :crossed:
Okay...I'm off to finally take down my Christmas Tree! I always procrastinate...I love having my tree up.
C-yas later!! Might go ice skating with the kids if it warms up a bit...it's only 5 now. Almost dangerous to be in if there's a slight breeze...hey! I just looked twice and now it's 7!! If it's inthe teens, I'm going skating!! Yay!
Kris
GatorGal 01-17-2005, 11:36 AM Wow, Monet. That's a nice change in the intro post. A new font!! Wow.
Since I don't have any "A" on my enhanced posting page, I will just stick with the old boring typeface and color, black! It's cold here today in sunny Fla. too. It is probably now about 45 but is supposed to get into the low 60's. I'll probably walk noonish. I normally weigh on Mondays, but I forgot to this morning and I've already eaten, etc. I'll try to remember to do it tomorrow.
I haven't been posting on the exercise board. I'll try to remember to do so this week. My exercise consists of lifting weights 2X a week plus walking. My walking goal is to get over 10000 steps per day.
Breakfast today = small bowl of grapenuts with sk. milk. Not very much, I know.
Gotta go study.
Cindylcing 01-17-2005, 12:14 PM Morning everyone. I will try to post everyday but normally it will be in the evening. Im off work today for MLK day.
So far this is my 3rd day after switching to Sugar Busters and It really seems a piece of cake after doing Atkins for a year and a half. I mean that in a good way . I bought some puffed Kashi cereal and had 1 cup this morning and boy it was a nice change. I thought I was going to have a really hard time lowering my fat but so far so good. Ive got my % down from 60-70's to 40's-50. And will work on maybe lowering it some more as I move along here.
Also I notice my calories are naturally dropping with the drop of the fat percentage.
The only question I have is... is a gain normal when switching from another plan? because I did show a 2 lb gain this morning.
Ellen 01-17-2005, 12:16 PM GATOR: Black is fine...the colors are fun, but not necesssary. Hearing from you IS necessary! :) Study hard! Its too cold outside for me to walk, so I may do the treadmill some later. Right now, I am nursing blisters from my trek yesterday!
TECH: I am so glad you survived the girl scouts! Going outside voluntarily even in the teens is NOT for me! Enjoy the skating!
woodfrogs 01-17-2005, 12:32 PM I'm off today, so get to post w/o feeling guilty at work. I went to the gym this morning and got in a good strength-training workout, later I think we'll go bowling and I'll hit the TM for awhile. I also cooked my bacon for the week.
Had 1 egg, 2 bacon, and cheese, on rye toast for bfast. Not sure what lunch and dinner are yet. It's harder when the kids are home from school. But they go back Sun afternoon.
The weekend wasn't bad. I did have a piece of bday cake yesterday(bday party for 3 nieces), but had a very light supper, so I think calorie -wise, it might be almost OK. Have been drinking my water.
I have to go get some laundry going, and finally hop in the shower and work on some craft stuff today.
I'll op back on later,
Have a great day everyone,
Barbara

THE BIG ORANGE BABE 01-17-2005, 12:33 PM MORNING EVERY BUDDY!!
Got up this morning to A COLD MORNING....Brrrrrrrrrrr It got down to 41 here last night and will get colder tonight! Got the heat on to knock the chill off...
I made my appointment for my xray...I'm supposed to go back to work next Wednesday, and my Doc wants to see this xray to determine IF I can go back.
SUSAN...What time y'all leaving today???? Where are y'all staying? Are the "SHRUBS and the SHRUBETTES" coming to your ball?
Have a good time and be careful on your way up and back. What is MS BELLE wearing to the ball????
I"ll be back later with replys....

fruitloupe 01-17-2005, 12:34 PM Good Morning!
I’m taking a break from making my adoption book to report in to my pals! This morning I was down another 2 pounds – so that makes 11 since the 3rd! I’m so excited! I’ll be working most of the day on my book…it’s very exciting! Then, I’ll take some breaks to pack beads too!
MONET: Thanks again for starting the board. I don’t know that I’ll get anything posted on the exercise board yet….in fact I know I won’t! But, that will come in time. I’m glad your tummy is feeling better!!
JACK-K: I was looking at our pictures from our visit last night…you sure do look great! You are such an inspiration!! You need to get back down here soon so we can plan an entire day – plus going out!! That would be fun!
TECH: I’m glad you survived the sleepover! I’m sure that was a loud one! Ice skating…hmmm…..I’ve done that 2 times in my life and I stunk!!
GATOR: I bought a cheap pedometer yesterday at Wal-Mart – I’ll see how it works at school this week!
CINDY: I’m glad that you are liking the SB plan. I’m sure it is easier than Adkins. I would think that you would have a small gain – you are probably doing more carbs than before.
Well, I’m off to work on my book!! I’ll check in later.
Missy
Ellen 01-17-2005, 12:58 PM Hi Everyone! Just a fly by! I am eating my once in a while bowl of popcorn. I don't know why, but I just wanted something salty and crunchy.
CINDY: I would think a small gain like 2 pounds is perfectly normal. Your body is going to have to adjust from the higher fat, lower carbs, to lower fat and higher carbs. It may hold on to some water while its figuring it out! Best thing you can do is stay off the scale for a week! :)
FRUIT: WOO HOO! Another two pounds!
WOOD: How are the boys liking school?
BOB: Hope the X-ray is good news!
fruitloupe 01-17-2005, 02:09 PM I have no idea why I have such big spaces in my post above!! Any clue?
Missy
heartmom 01-17-2005, 02:18 PM I feel icky today. I have a cold on top of this stupid rash. I wonder if they are somehow linked :?: Anyway, the rash is worse today. It's spreading to my face!! Nope, it's not chicken pox. I had them on my 14th bday and still have the scars. It kinda looks like prickly heat bumps but alot worse and it's all over my chest the mid back and my entire neck and now working its way to my face which is really not cool. I don't have money to go to the doc. UGH! I'm wondering if it's a severe reaction to dry skin. I'm scared to put anything on it but just leaving it alone isn't helping either. I think I will take a shower later and try some Eucerin cream when I get out. My luck, it'll probably make it much worse and I'll look like some freak come tomorrow. Well, I'm not in any mood to do anything today but mope around. Don't feel like exercising. Maybe I'll feel like it in the morning. That way I'll get 2 workouts tomorrow and make up for missing today's. Eating is legal today but sucky. Snacking too much. Stepped on the scale which of course made my mood even more sour. It said 163. I'm up a total of 4 pounds from my low of 159. I think alot of it is that I'm getting bored with the food lately. Any suggestions?
Teensybean 01-17-2005, 02:21 PM Good morning ladies--
I have a cute story to tell you all. Last night when I took the dogs out for their last trip for the night, I took a bag of cut up apple to leave for the deer. When I stepped off the front porch, I noticed one little doe standing in the yard. I thought as soon as she heard us she would take off........not so. She stood right there while I walked the dogs around to get to the apple tree. I dumped the apples out and took Buddy over closer to the shop so as not to scare her. My little Bassethound who was not on a leash, decided to investigate. She stood right there with her tail a waggin' But that wasn't good enough. Pretty soon she was moving towards the doe, and the doe was moving towards her. Jo's tail was still wagging, and the doe's tail was standing straight up, but she held her ground. Soon they were nose to nose!! I sure wish I would have had my camera handy. They actually were touching noses and checking each other out. It was the cutest thing to see. I guess the little doe knows we are trying to help her and won't hurt her. We have never had one that acted this tame and didn't run from the dogs.
I met Monet's challenge on exercise, actually I had 6 days in, since I got bored and rode the stationary bike last Sunday. So lets see how this week goes. One day down, and my calendar is looking pretty great.......red X's everyday since Dec. 31st.
Okay, here is my menu for the day......
B-- 1/2 grapefruit 1/2 hour before
1/2 c Fiber One, 1/4 c ff milk, 1 Splenda, 1 tsp cinnamon
Lite 85 yogurt
snack--apple
L--WW turkey wrap (lettuce, tomato, onion, turkey, cheddar)
snack--orange
D-- Salmon patty, 1/2 c spaghetti squash, 1/2 c broccoli
1/2 c sf Jell-o
water--hoping to get in 128 oz.
Here are some replies......
Jack-k-- Good morning. It has warmed up here and is snowing. We got around 4 inches yesterday and it looks like we could get at least that much more if it keep this up. At least it has warmed up. I hate the cold.
Monet-- I don't know what I would do if I had to get my son to work each day. I hate driving when there is snow on the roads. Dh is usually my driver once it snows. I think Bill would be walking, lol!! I have a question, do I get a red X even if I eat more than I think I should, even though it is legal?? I had more than 1/2 c LC ice cream last night, and still put up a red X. What do you think??
Tech-- Chin up and hop back on the old wagon. Special events are hard to handle sometimes. But thats life, and we make our choices. Brrrrr......I am not a winter person.....never did learn to ice skate, but have fun!!
Gator-- Wow, low 60's would be heaven right now. I envy you southern gals in the winter. But not in the summer!! You are doing a great job getting all those steps in.
Cindy-- It does get easier too. I didn't gain when switching, but some do. And don't let it discourage you, it will come off. I stayed the same for way over a month, and then WHOOOSH....it really started coming off. Wish it were that easy again. I think my body has found a place that it wants to be. I am close to my final goal, but it still seems a long way off. I think you will really enjoy the freedom this plan gives you compaired to Atkins. And believe me I am NOT putting Atkins down. I wouldn't be where I am now if it hadn't been for Protein Power.
Wood--Sounds like you have a busy day planned for a day off.
BOB-- Hope all goes well and that you will be back to work soon.
Fruit-- You are just doing FANTASTIC!! You will be a HOOTCHIE MAMA for your cruise....keep up the great work!!
Okay, I am going to go get something done.....see you all later.
Ellen 01-17-2005, 02:49 PM HEART: Being bored with your food choices will certainly make it hard. Why don't you commit to trying a new recipe this week, to try and branch out?
FRUIT: No idea whatsoever! Often the program removes extra spaces for you.
TEENSY: Hmm, I would say the red X is ok even though you are more than YOU thought you should. It was all legal, so its a legal day... Do you think its ok for me to have one even though I ate some popcorn?? I am thinking no, but I then, I am not sure.
Going to go watch a movie with Laura!
Solly 01-17-2005, 03:52 PM Just catching up. You all have been busy today.
My day has been legal so far too. Dinner is planned so safe there.
Planning on getting on the TM and wts tonight.
BF: 1/2 ww agel with peanut butter
Snack: 10 grapes
Lunch: small salad, Italian dressing, 2 small pcs of Amy's ww pizza, appled
some cheddar bbq bunnies (found them at the HFS and they were made from wheat flour. Like goldfish.
Dinner: meatloaf, slaw, butter beans and 1 more veggie.
Monet, I didn't pay any attention to that $12.99 special. I added a salad to mine so it was probably about the same price. It sure was good and the veggies too. I think you get a O too! Popcorn is ok in moderation.
Techwife, You couldn't get me out htere to sake unless it was 67. I gues syou are used to it up there. Glad you survived the girls. Hey all those girls would make anyone eat off plan.
Gator, You do such a good job with your walking. I can't get that many steps in a day.
Cindy, Welcome. I don't post ont he weekends so I didn't get to welcome you. SB is so much easier to follow than Atkins. We have many converts here. A gain is normal, plus it could be hormones, the wt of your dinner, just anything. Give it a couple days. Oh, where are you in Indiana? I'm just across the river.
Wppdfrogs, the important thing is you got right back on plan after that cake. It probably won't bother you.
Bob, did I get from your post that you are sleepwalking?
Missy, you are do GREAT! That little baby will not beleive how thin his/her new mommy is. I'm so proud of you.
Heart, my DD had a rash just like that. At first I thought is was CP, but it wasn't. We had all been sick with a bug and she never got it but didn't feel well, Then she broke out in this rash. Hers itched. She put some cortaid cream on it and it lasted about a week and went away. She also took Bynadryl at night. A dr probably wouldn;'t be able to tell you what it was. Maybe an allergic reaction to something.
Colleen, I vot that you get an X. What a cute story about your dog and the doe. Man a pciture would have been priceless.
Have a great day and evening.
Ellen 01-17-2005, 05:40 PM Greetings! Just finished watching the movie, "Hope Springs". We started with De-Lovely, and got sick of the strong alternative style sexual themes in it, so we switched to Hope. It starred Colin Firth, who I think is pretty cool. It was a bit predictable, but cute. I like light, silly romantic comedies if I am going to sit and watch a movie. I want to be entertained, and that is what does it for me. I realize I am very out of step with my family, and lots of my friends, but hey, its what I like! :) The fact that he was an artist was a plus. It always makes me feel inspired to draw when I see stories about artists!
JACK: Thanks for the red O vote... :) I think I will award myself one. I can't believe you did not check out that special at TGIF. The cheesecake was Atkins, sweetened with splenda, and therefore legal! You could have had it all for $12.99! You are probably better off NOT having it though. I think it had sugar alcohols, and therefore the cause of my intestinal problems in the middle of the night! :o
woodfrogs 01-17-2005, 06:34 PM Monet - the boys are liking school just fine! And they're actually looking forward to going back on SUnday for spring semester!
Cindylcing 01-17-2005, 08:59 PM Jac-k
Thank you for the welcome. Yes Im in NE Indiana ( Fort Wayne). A bit cold here right now ..feeling kinda like a eskomo ! :)
Ellen 01-17-2005, 10:20 PM Evening everyone! Dinner was shrimp scampi on whole wheat spaghetti, and a salad. I was legal except for the bowl of popcorn, which Jack-K tells me is ok in moderation, so I guess I will give myself the red O for the day!
I got in a good bit of water, but I was not able to talk myself into walking on the treadmill. I know I am whining, but my heel has cracked, due to dry skin because of my hypothyroidism and connective tissue disease, and it hurts something fierce. I hope I can walk tomorrow. I want to try and get in two miles again. I actually feel better in some ways than I have in ages! I think the walking was the key.
Its about time for me to hit the pillow. Sweet dreams everyone!
MoJoTex 01-18-2005, 10:29 AM Hi Everyone,
I wasn't sure where to begin, so I thought I would post here.
I am new to this, this is day 4 for me. I am 33, and want to lose about 40 pounds. I had lost 50 pounds 3-4 years ago because I was sick, kept it off for a year without a problem, then just balooned. Now nothing is working. I have Hypothyroidism, which makes it hard to stick to a diet lonmg enough to get results...I had done Body for Life, working out and all, for 2.5 months this summer and gained weight and a pants size. I should have stuck to it for another month or so, but I just got so discouraged when I gained a pant size. :(
Anyway. I weigh about 195. I am not sure, I don't have a scale here. I need to be about 150. At 195 I am a size 14, and I want to be a size 8. So, this is more about losing inches and sizes than weight to me. I could care less what the number is.
I really need to know if I can have powdered coffee creamer. lol. I am a huge decaf coffe junkie as it is cold here and I am freezing all the time due to thyroid issues. I am drinking cream with my coffee right now, but it is kinda expensive.
Also, how many triscuits are you allowed to have as a snack? I have heard anywhere from 20 grams of carbs to 150 for the first few weeks? Any suggestions of a good starting point?
Thanks for your help,
Marica
techwife 01-18-2005, 11:27 AM Laurie - I'm soooo feeling your pain. I was a hairdresser for ten years and had to quit due to the rashes the products gave me. I couldn't bend my fingers because they were swollen like sausages and cracked, bleeding and infected...it went right up my arm to almost my elbow. Everyone gave me suggestions for creams to put on it, but really creams only help healthy skin that's slightly dry. Do you not have insurance? Been there, too. I'd suggest biting the bullet and going and seeing if they'll let you pay on a payment plan...but in the meantime, I have a few suggestions. Most creams have things like lanolin in them that will irritate a problematic rash further. These few treatments helped me that were over the counter. Actually, only one cream and a soak that I'll tellyou about. The cream is Lac-Hydrin 5. Lac-Hydrin 12 is available with a prescription, but the 5 you can get over the counter. Its a bit greasy, but who cares if it helps, right? And it's also great for after you shave your legs...makes your skin reeeeally smooth.
Also, the soak is call Alumboro. This is a powder that you mix with cold water in a bowl...it won't be a paste or anything, but a bowl of water with the mix in it so it's cloudy. Have your hubby dip a washcloth in this and apply it to your back and affected areas you can't reach. This stuff help the swelling of irritated skin and reduces the itching. It works wonders.
Also, another off the beaten path trick is antihistamine. If you take a sinus pill or something like Benadryl, it dries up sinuses...and it dries up swollen skin, too. The dryness you're feeling is only the very top layer of your skin...the rest is underneath and is swollen and irritated from your rash. You have to almost attack it from the inside out.
BUT, these are only fixing symptoms of what may be a big problem. I'd get to the doctor asap if this doesn't clear up soon. I hear ya with the insurance woes. When I was without insurance, I had gall bladder disease and suffered numerous attacks until I could finally get the dern thing taken out when my husband was put on different insurance at work. Completely horrendous. Hopefully your problems are cold-related and will go away on their own...
In other news...it's minus ten degrees here...minus 35 wind chill. We didn't go skating yesterday because it never made it past 7 degrees...too cold for me and my littlest one...my daughter would go outside no matter how cold it is...so we went bowling instead. Very fun.
Cindy - I don't think I've properly said hello yet...welcome aboard our awesome ship of 'losers'!! Everyone here is so great. Even just to chat with. I was a two-time Atkins failure. I'd loose ten pounds and then get so constipated, get hemorroids and started to bleed. I desperately needed some old fashioned fiber in my diet. Which led me to Sugar Busters. I've not lost a ton on SB as I keep cheating because I started this diet just before Thanksgiving and was very bad around the holidays. But when I stick to my guns, this is such a breeze of a diet to be on and I feel so much healthier, even when I'm not loosing weight, I'm eating really healthy and delish food, I'm just happier. I'm sure you'll do great on this diet. Try it for one month and I'm positive you'll see a difference. Again, drink lots of water and do at least a tiny bit of exercise every day. You can do it!! :cheer: My secret formula for the plan is at every meal, I make sure I have protien (eggs, cheese, meat), at least one (preferably two especially with dinner) fruit/veg, fiber (this is my rule to avoid the Atkins problems!!) and skim milk. I don't worry about portions, more worried about sustaining myself till the next meal so I don't want to be bad. Snacks should be one of the above, too, like a hard boiled or deviled egg, an apple or triscuits and cheese. Drink lots of water and get up and move at least a little every day. You should customize the plan to fit your needs...the most important part of any diet is that it should work for YOU so that you STICK TO IT. And as long as the scale starts in a downward trend, that's the main end result.
Monet - your scampi sounds completely dee-lish!! I'm with you with the romantic comedies...How to Lose a Guy in 10 Days is one of my favorites. So is Wedding Planner...I'm a Matthew McConaughey junkie. Have you seen the Stetson ad? www.stetsoncologne.com after the intro (I never skip it) click on Play Stetson TV Spot. Hubba, hubba!! :chin:
BOB...I'm sure you'll keep us posted with the xrays. :crossed: Got everything crossed that everything comes out okay!! Before you know it, you'll be out of the house, bombing around in your new wheels!!
Jack - I guess you'd have to go roller blading, then. The ice doesn't hold up very well when it's 67!! ;)
Teensy - I love the deer, too. We have a family that goes between my house and the neighbors, across the street (we live on a quiet village street - hardly any traffic) and to their apple trees. Every now and then they freak me out and stand about ten feet from the window and look in at us and you can see their silhouette from the street lights. I'm used to it now, but the first time it happened, I didn't know what the heck it was looking in my window!! You could almost imagine them going "look at the humans..." We also get a family of wild turkeys that like the apples, too. They are really funny. Especially when the men are trying to impress the girls. My husband hates when he sees them on the side of the road because they take off and fly a few feet and only about a foot off the ground. He calls them flying bowling balls. :dizzy:
Barbara - I don't think I've properly said hello to you, either. I'm not worrying about a once in a while slip up with cake, etc. As long as the weight it going in the right direction, that's the main thing. I, personally, have to mix the good with the bad sometimes. For instance, ever since my favorite Aunt died about six years ago, I've been trying to remember, 'someday when I'm on my deathbed, what will I wish I did more of?" Dieting or eating cake? Vaccuming or playing with my son, building the ultimate Geotrax set up. Cleaning the house or enjoying a nice, sunny day with the kids at the river. My point is, cake is the food of the Gods, and is ultimately not good for your waist, but good for your soul!! ;) If you get my drift.
Missy - WAHOO on the weightloss!!:dancer: You must be so inspired to go on!! I would be. And I just noticed you're writing a book. It's about adoption? Cool. I've been writing a time travel romance novel for about three years. I put it on hiatus until my son goes to kindergarden as everytime I'd write a chapter, I'd look at him watching TV and think...this can be written any ole time, but my son will only be little once. So, I shut off the tv and the puter and sat on the floor to play instead. September 2006 I'll resume my creative writing flow, but till then, I'm Mom. If you ever need anyone to proof read anything or just give you a read-thru, just let me know!! I love editing!!
Anyhow...I got 3/4 of an O yesterday. I did great until my hubby came out with a small bowl of sugar free ice cream, but put some chocolate syrup on it. I ate it anyway because I didn't want him to feel bad being so nice and bringing me unsolicited ice cream. He also fixed out exercise bike. We blew out a ball bearing. I'd be cycling along just fine, then it would bog down for a second, then go fast again...it's a much smoother ride now. I was up to a half hour for a while till he took it apart about two months ago and has been in pieces on our bedroom floor forever, but I'll be recommencing the cycling today....maybe after lunch.
Lots of laundry to do today...and I still have to take down my Christmas tree. Its still up half because I'm lazy and half because I just really like having my tree up. It makes for such nice, soft lighting in the evenings while I crochet and my hubby plays the Xbox.
Well, must get some work done.
C-yas!! Kris
Solly 01-18-2005, 11:29 AM Goodness, where is everyone today? I thought I was late getting on here.
Got my wts and TM in last night (needto post on the exercise board yet) and dinner was legal. So I get my X for the day.
BF: 1/2 oatmeal with splenda and skim milk
Lunch: meatloaf, dab of butter beans and a dab of slaw
snack: grapes
Dinner: stuffed shells and a salad.
Monet, hope your foot is better today. Would shoes help? I have some foot cream I got from Bath & Body that really helps cracked feet.
Cindy, yest it is considerably colder in Ft Wayne. My niece lived there for about 6 months. Button up.
Mojo, Welcome, you will get tons of support here. Money has hypothyroidism too, so she can help you alot. SB is so easy to follow. I lost 100 lbs and have put 10 back on and still have 15 more to get to goal after that. I'm not sure about the creamer as I drink my decaf black. Triscuits, 6-7 I would say. Looking forward to getting to know you and good luck.
Off to the exercise board. I'll check back later and see if a nyone shows up.
Solly 01-18-2005, 11:35 AM Kris, we were posting at the same time. Bowling is great exercise. I always felt it in my rear. Go figure. Hopefully that syrup won't bother you.
techwife 01-18-2005, 11:45 AM Hi Marcia...I think we were posting at the same time. Wanted to say HI  to you, too. And welcome aboard. I just wrote a big, long paragraph to Cindy in the post I did above...you can read that, just in your mind, cross of Cindy and replace it with Marcia and consider it written to you, too. ;)
Where are you that it's so cold? Its minus 8 here in Northern New York. Too cold for me, that's for sure...but it has been known to get much worse.
Anyhow...I'm relatively new to SB...I started in November...lost about 12 pounds in a month or so, then Christmas happened. For related comments, see above reply to Barbara...substitute your name for hers and consider this written to you as well... :D
I just noticed you name is MoJoTex...does this mean your from Texas? If so, also see related reply to Monet with the link to the Stetson Cologne ad. I love Texas men!! ;)
Anyhow...back to the coffeepot one last time for the day...then it's water for the rest of the day except meals!! I always use powdered creamer, but I believe heavy cream is on order for plan. At least I used it with my tea on Atkins, but it leave icky oily residue on the top. Bleh. So, for now, I'm using powdered creamer. I'll leave the official word on if it's okay to the professionals here.
Welcome to the crowd, Marcia!! Hope you become a major 'loser' like the rest of us...if you know what I mean...
Kris
PS...HI Jack!!
Ellen 01-18-2005, 12:06 PM Good Morning! I took the James to work, then went by the new Hobby Lobby to get some art supplies. They opened it in the old Wal Mart building vacated when the Super Wal Mart opened. At least they found a use for the building. I got India Ink and pens and tips. We are doing to do pen and ink drawing Thursday, as well as some charcoal and ink washes too. I was very inspired by Van Gogh's drawings....he used ink, and white chalk on a beige paper and it looks so cool! Anyway, it is freaking cold here! I wish I could walk outside, but I might freeze. The sun is shining, and the sky is blue...maybe it will warm up some.
Breakfast was three fried eggs, and coffee. I try to lay off the wheat as much as possible and I am making wwpizza for small group tonight. :)
I put the big red O on my calendar last night...it looks so nice! I am going to work hard to make sure its not lonely! ;)
MOJO: Welcome to Sugarbusters! I am hypothyroid too. Are you on medication? I feel much better now that I am on a special formulary of T3 in addition to my Unithroid, but it has not been the panacea for all my weight problems. I am also hyperinsulinemic, and have Lupus. It took me so long to find a doctor who could correctly diagnose my thyroid problem, that I gained about 50 pounds before I could get help. Then, back in June, my thyroid slowed another step and I gained 30 pounds in three months, even with eating SB and exercising! You can combine the workouts of Body For Life, with the SB diet. My husband does that. Its done wonders for his blood chemistry and while he had very little to lose, he has really shaped up. All the young men at church tell him they want to be like him when they grow up! (we are 51, they guys are in their 20's and 30's!) With thyroid issues, exercise is really important. I have to keep reminding myself of that...unfortunately, the Lupus makes it painful to exercise hard, so I feel sometimes between a rock and a hard place. If nothing else, SB is very healthy, and you will probably feel better if you stick to it! I know I do! I feel awful when I go off program. Anyway, we are glad you are here, and I hope we can give you all the support you need to succeed!
TECH: I have seen the Wedding Planner...it was cute. I have not seen How To Lose a Guy in Ten Days. I will ask my daughter, the Blockbuster manager, if she can get it for me! My older daughter gave me a set of A&E romances, which includes Pride and Prejudice (my all time fav movie-all six hours of it!), Emma, Scarlet Pimpernel, Tom Jones, Jane Eyre, Victoria and Albert and Ivanhoe. I have not watched some of them, but its a great set...and when I have time, I plan to watch them. I guess I could have while I was recovering from my surgery...but I tend more towards reading. I am just not much of a movie watcher! :)
JACK: You are so inspiring! I am going to go get on the TM after I get off here. Then I guess I will have to get cracking on cleaning and cooking for tonight. I would much rather sit here and contemplate my navel.... Why am I so lazy??? I have NO idea.
Ellen 01-18-2005, 12:10 PM TECH: I went and watched the Stetson spot...not bad. He is built almost as good as my husband! (seriously! Its such a chore to have a hunk for a husband when you have 75 pounds to lose!)
Toni48 01-18-2005, 12:16 PM Gee where did yesterday go?! I'm having trouble with being tired and yesterday was a sleepy day for me. When I have a blockage that usually happens. But Monday will tell the tale. I'll be glad to get the test over with and find out something. Wish they were fixing it then. My eating has been fine. I think I might have had a little bit to much of legal things yesterday, for some reason I was hungry all day long. This morning I've had a ww bagel with whipped cream cheese for breakfast. An egg would have been better but had them yesterday so thought I'd skip today on them. I made DH and I a nice big shrimp salad last night that was so good. Of course I picked bitter cold winter weather for it. LOL!!! Tonight I'm going to make chicken breasts. Don't know what else I'll have with it except salad and a vegetable. Welcome to the new gals. Good luck you can do it on SB. Have to run have a hair cut appointment.....
techwife 01-18-2005, 12:32 PM TECH: I went and watched the Stetson spot...not bad. He is built almost as good as my husband! (seriously! Its such a chore to have a hunk for a husband when you have 75 pounds to lose!)
REALLY......? Does he wear a Stetson hat, too? You should have him do a Stetson ad and post it for us!! ;)
One more Matthew Mc item...I'll be dragging my poor daughter to the movies on THIS date... http://www.apple.com/trailers/paramount/sahara/ I can hardly wait!!! :hyper:
Ellen 01-18-2005, 12:51 PM TECH:  naw, no hat on Mr. Monet. He has his own quirks tho...like never wearing shoes. Did I mention that he was reprimanded three times at the art museum and asked to put his shoes back on??? He likes hot weather, so he can go around just about nekkid. I will try and find a good pic and post it....though he will strangle me if I do! ;)
Pancho 01-18-2005, 02:24 PM Hello everyone:
Wow, three pages of posts already!
My DH and Britt were home yesterday, so I didn't get a chance to post, but I did get to the gym early yesterday a.m., and also went on Saturday. I plan to go tomorrow a.m., Friday and Saturday....shooting for 4 days a week. I have really been struggling to get back ON PLAN and stay there. I am not only doing the calender, but I am back to logging my food into a food journal as well. So far today, I have had:
BF: 1 egg & 1 slice toast w/ Smart balance spread
Snack: 1 Blue bunny yogurt w/ 1 TBS flax meal, nuts & cinnamon mix & 2 little tangerines
Snack: 1 SF soy latte
Lunch: Will be a tuna salad (romaine & spinach) w/ vinegar & oil dressing
I also forgot to note when I was on my cycle last month, so I have no idea when to expect it this month...I think it was a day or two after Christmas though.
Cindy: Welcome aboard! We are glad to have you here. I think that by dropping the high fat and incorporating whole grains and fresh fruits/veggies, you will see a notable loss soon. That was a high fat percentage, even on Atkins. This woe/wol will be so much better for your health in the long run! You will drop those two pounds quickly and start to see a loss soon; try not to get discouraged. I also was an Atkins convert, and ended up losing more on SB than I ever even imagined. I am 37 y.o. 5'4", have had two kids and had a goal to get to 130-135#'s... well, I hit that goal, and kept losing all the way down to 120#'s!
Fruit: A big congrats to you on your losses!! Make a promise to yourself never to go above 300 again!! It feels so good, doesn't it?
Heart: There is such a thing as a viral rash. I am sure that the illness and rash go hand in hand. I just got over a rash last week that was pinkish/reddish and felt like sandpaper (back, chest, neck, stomach, arms). It lasted about 5 days. I never got sick, and still don't know what it was from, but it did clear up on its own, and am glad that I didn't pay a doctor to tell me what he didn't know (ha). I took a few warm baths in Aveeno oatmeal bath powder, even though keeping it dry is the best thing to do. You may want to limit your sweaty workouts while you have it; it will help speed up the healing.
Teensy: I would have loved to see a picture of that!! Glad you are continuing to do so well. Rub off on me, please!
Monet: I agree with Jack-K about the popcorn; as long as it's not an everyday occurence. How To Lose a Guy in 10 Days is cute! I really enjoye it. My DH is quite the hunk too. He is 42 now, and he has the body that he did when I met him at 29 years of age. He has the total V shape. He has the big chest/lats/bi & tris, and then slims in the waist (size 32) and has a small cute little butt. He has worked out 2-4 times a week for as long as I have known him. We actually met at the gym.
Mojo: Welcome aboard!! Good luck to you with this woe/wol. I think creamer is o.k., in moderation if the sugars are low. I think it has a lot of questionable ingredients in it though (partially hydrogenated oils, and such), but if it will help keep you on plan, then just start cutting it out little by little. Can you use skim milk instead? A serving size of Triscuits is 7, I believe. Some people will say 3-4, but I have always had 7 when I eat them for a snack. You may want to get some Laughing Cow Lite cheese wedges to eat with them; they are sooo good.
Tech: A big C, is better than no O at all. Keep up the good work!!
Toni: I don't think too many eggs for women is a good idea; at least that is what I keep reading, and I do agree. The bagel sounds good. I need to get some more WW english muffins and bagels, as well as some egg whites for omelettes.
I am sure I forgot a lot of you, but I have to go get Lane down for her nap now.
Have a great OP day, and I hope to get on at some point tomorrow. Britt only has a half day at school, so I am going to keep her home and take her to the police station downtown for a tour we are doing for our Mom's Club. They are going to let them try on uniforms, play in the cars, get handcuffed and check out the tiny ugly concrete cells! I think Britt will get far more out of this than Lane will. I am also going to the gym early, so don't know when I'll make it back, but do plan to.
Take care,
Nat
heartmom 01-18-2005, 03:26 PM Hey, guys. Well, I ended up going to the ER after hubby kept on insisting I go. Three hours were totally wasted. Told me that I need to see a dermatologist. Then wanted me to pay 100 bucks before leaving. Pretty much told them that I had no intention of paying the first penny. I'm going to call the billing part in just a bit to express how I shouldn't have to pay anything. Heck, no services were provided. Anyway, it's not a viral rash because it's raised and bumpy. I have Zyrtec and took a pill last night and this AM. Also some hydrocortisone cream. I hope I see a difference in the next day or 2. I tried to do a workout today. Didn't last. I did 30 minutes(the cardio part) of the Burn it Up dvd and thought I was either going to pass out or puke so I stopped. Question about the red O's. What if you have a planned illegal food but do very good for the rest of the day? I plan on having macaroni tonight with supper is why I'm asking. Maybe a half O,lol. But if it was a whole meal or worse than no O. Here's my menu for the day:
BF- was 2 eggs, mushrooms, cheddar cheese and 1 cup CC 2% milk
Lunch- will be my famous tuna salad made with veggies, 1 egg, cheese, Ranch dressing
Supper- will be Mexican meatloaf, green beans, and Kraft 2% light macaroni
Anyway, not alot going on. I have someone filling in for me tonight, teaching the exercise class. Just not up to it. Anyone in the Philly area? Boogie and I are going to CHOP(Children's hospital of Philadelphia) next month. It's for a research study, nothing invasive. They're going to see if bypass has maybe effected his development. They're testing 4 year olds and I guess comparing the results. Alright, I guess I'll post my so-called workout on the exercise board.
Teensybean 01-18-2005, 03:56 PM Good morning ladies,
It is raining cats and dogs today. First we have sub zero temps and then lots of snow, got freezing rain all yesterday afternoon, and now it is raining. Supposed to rain most of the week, and have temps into the mid 40's. Go figure.
I slept in this morning until 8:30. I haven't done that is sooooo long. It felt really good. I looked at my watch and it said 7:30, and I thought that was sleeping in. Must need a new battery. But it doesn't seem like that long ago that I changed it. hummmm.
Menu for the day.....
B-- 1/2 grapefruit before exercising.
1 slice ww toast, 2 T nsa peanut butter, 1 oz strawberry all fruit.
Lite 85 yogurt
snack--apple
L--
Chicken breast or salmon patty.....not sure yet, both are leftovers
1/2 c coleslaw
3 oz raw carrots
snack--orange
D--
venison steak
1/2 c broccoli
1/2 c spaghetti squash
1/2 c sf Jell-o with lite whipped cream
water--128 oz
All of my spaghett squashes got really big this year, so when I cook one, I end up eating it forever......but I like it so it's okay with me!!
Laurie-- Sorry you are so uncomfortable. No advice here, just hope you will feel better soon. I am putting my X's up only if I have a totally legal day. If I choose to eat something off plan, I am not putting up an X. That is just my strategy, you can decide for yourself how you wish to post yours.
MoJoTex--Welcome to the Sugar Buster's board. Glad you found us. I am not sure but I think the powdered coffee creamer is a no no. The one I keep around for company, has corn syrup solids and partially hydrogenated vegetable oil as ingredients. Both are no no's. I think you are better off with the real cream. I think on the box 7 triscuits are a serving. You don't need to count carb grams in SBer's. They recommend 40% of you calories come from carbs, 30% fat, and 30% protein. Good luck on your new way of eating and we will enjoy getting to know you.
Tech-- Sounds like you are getting our cold weather now. We have warmed up and it is raining now. With all the snow and ice we got, it is going to be a big mess this week. We have alot of wild turkey's too. They come right through the yard and waddle across the road. I don't really want to start feeding them because of the mess they leave behind. Deer droppings I can live with, but not fowl!! Oooohhh I love Matthew Mc. Wasn't he fabulous is "How to lose a guy...." HMMMM HMMMM!!
Jackie-- Good for you!! Love seeing your posts on the exercise board.
Monet-- Contemplate your navel??? What is up with that girl? Had to laugh though.
Toni-- I didn't get up until 8:30 this morning......talk about a sleepy head. I haven't slept in that late since forever.....but it sure felt good. Hope you are good and rested too.
Pancho-- I am trying to get back to entering my foods on fit day. I alway write them down on a daily meal planner, but would like to get back to seeing where I am at calorie, and fatwise. Think I will go there now and start.....thanks for the reminder!! Hope Britt enjoys the field trip to the police station. Sounds interesting.
Well ladies, will try and get back here later......
THE BIG ORANGE BABE 01-18-2005, 04:15 PM AFTERNOON ALL YOU BUSTER BUDDYS!!!
Thanks for all the crossed fingers on my xrays, BUT...The xrays show that the break hasn't formed enough calcium to close completly. Iguess I should have been taking supplements all along, but I didn't. I will have to start taking some to see if it help. I go to the DOC on Monday to see if he will let me go back to work on Wednesday (26th).
I'm a little bummed about all this, so please forgive me if I don't make any replys right now. I'll be back later.
BOB
techwife 01-18-2005, 05:11 PM BOB - :balloons: Here's a balloon-a-gram to cheer you up. TRY to remain positive. Things will work out, given time.
So far so good on plan...but I think I know some of my problem (other than flat-out cheating!!)...powdered creamer. I think it was Marcia that asked about powdered creamer and I said I use it...but then Monet said some of the ingredients and, sure enough, it's bad, bad, BAD!! I never even thought. So, for snack today, I'm having a half dozen triscuits and some cheese with grapes and tea with Splenda...I can't handle coffee without creamer and I hate putting milk in it...I'll get some oily heavy cream or maybe some half and half...but skim milk in my coffee is out of the question...i'd rather have tea...whichis probably better anyhow...
For lunch I had my legal smoothie...but my question on the smoothie is that I use a half cup of plain yogurt. The ingredients don't have any sugar or anything disguised cleverly as something other than sugar...but it has 10g of sugar in the label. How does that happen? Is it still legal? Anyhow...for lunch I had my smoothie (6 ice cubes crushed, then one egg, half cup plain yogurt, capful of vanilla, spoonful of Splenda and half a greenish banana) and an apple on the side.
For dinner will be turkey burger bowls...ground turkey cooked with sliced onion...put it in a bowl and put green salad on top. YUM!! I use Carb Options ranch dressing...but the rest of the family uses French dressing.
Well, talk to you later...Kris
THE BIG ORANGE BABE 01-18-2005, 05:28 PM Feeling a little better, can't let myself get depressed...not a good thing and I know it.
I did find this and it brought a little curl to the corner of my mouth, so I'll share it with y'all and see if it does the same for y'all.

Cindylcing 01-18-2005, 08:00 PM Hi all. Thanks again for the welcomes ! Pancho, thank you for the encouaring words ! Im really excitied about switching over to SB.
I had a pretty good day today. Staying on track has been no problem.
I have another question though :^:
I know the ww products should be limited to 3 servings? ( correct me if thats wrong)
but what about fruit ( acceptable fruit that is). Is there a quanity limit per day?
Ellen 01-18-2005, 11:57 PM Well, small group was a bomb tonight. Only one member showed up out of the 12! I was not a happy camper since I had worked so hard at making the pizza....grrr. Two of them said they would see us tonight on Sunday, then did not show. Those of us here...three of us and the one guy, pigged out on the pizza. I was bad...I drank a Guiness! So no red O for me tonight. :(
I am tired, and cranky, and I don't feel very well either. Its about time for me to hit the pillows....
CINDY: I have no recollection of a limit on fruit. Of course, it would be common sense to not over do it. I tend to have two or three servings of fruit a day, max. I concentrate on veggies, since they tend to be lower glycemic than fruit. My fruit of choice is often dry apricots, and prunes. Try keeping it to two or three a day, and see how that goes. I am glad things seem to be going well for you!
Toni48 01-19-2005, 08:59 AM Good morning. I'm doing the happy dance as I've lost 1 1/2 lbs. this week. Yippee!!! I hope I keep going. That little ticker thing doesn't show a half lb. so I'm really 200.5. I hope I can do good this week even with the hospital trip coming up. Made chicken breast in the rotissare last night and it came out pretty good. Think I'll go in and have a ww bagel with peanut butter for breakfast. Today is the day for cleaning out the fridge. Yuck... But it sure needs to be done. I'll be back after while.... Hope everyone did well this week.
Ellen 01-19-2005, 09:12 AM Good Weigh In Wednesday to everyone! I hopped on the metal monster, prepared to be disgusted after my pizza and beer binge last night. I was down 1.5 from Monday...go figure. So I am the same as I was last Wednesday. Makes me wonder what it might have been if I had not had the pizza and beer last night?! I hope the metal monster is good to everyone...
TONI: Yay! Way to go! :cheer:  Good for you!
Coffee time in Hotlanta...be back later! :coffee:
fruitloupe 01-19-2005, 09:19 AM Hey everyone!
HAPPY WIW!! I'm down another pound today! YIPPEE!! I will come back tonight to catch up on posts if I have time.....
Bye for now!
Missy
techwife 01-19-2005, 10:26 AM Okay...I weighed in at 171...I'll be changing my ticker to reflect it...just to be honest.
I'm convinced that the coffee creamer is doing me in...and my occasional cheating. But I'll be using the coffee creamer until after I go shopping tomorrow as I'm flat broke and refuse to drink coffee with skim milk OR go without coffee OR drink it without something creamy in it. I can't believe I didn't see the ingredients in the powdered creamer before...I just looked at the label and saw 0 sugar and went from there...but I'll be remedying this tomorrow with some...is half and half okay? My other quetion is the yogurt I'm using for my smoothies...it's plain yogurt (which is completely disgusting on its own, by the way...but makes a great and healthy filler for my smoothies) and in the ingredients it doesn't say anything about sugar or honey or fructose or anything else ending in OSE...just dairy-like products...BUT, it says that a one-cup serving has 10g of sugar. What's up with that?
Okay...I have a list of cleaning to do today...I sat around watching the Sahara trailer and the Stetson ad yesterday... :cloud9:
TTYL...Kris
kengjw 01-19-2005, 11:08 AM Good morning...
I think it's time for my report :) Last week wasn't a good week but this week, surprisingly, I am feeling much better. I am still a little nauseated but I can handle it. All I had to do was kept forcing myself to eat every 2 hours or so before the sickness came, that seem to help a lot. I have finally selected a new OBGYN and will be seeing him in beginning of Feb so I still have a little bit of time before I know how the baby is doing. I am trying to keep positive.
Eating hasn't been totally legal as I ate whatever that was easy and simple and get lots of help from the store instead of cooking myself. This week I started to cook a little when I could. I am so glad that I can keep the food down, gosh....so relieved! I sure missed participating here daily but I hope it won't be long before I can come back regularly. The fatigue is also getting the best of me too. In the meantime, I just want to say I am okay, hanging in there and hope everyone is doing wonderfully. Will check in again.
Julia
p/s : Newbies, sorry I didn't get to welcome all of you but will look forward to know you when I am feeling better overall.
woodfrogs 01-19-2005, 03:29 PM Hi everyone,
No real time to post today, just a drive by. I was very disappointed on the scale this morning, but I was swollen up from the heat in the bedroom last night. I'm hoping it's just a water thing....bowling tonight, and I'll try to get on the treadmill for a bit this afternoon.
Take care everyone!
Barbara
heartmom 01-19-2005, 04:58 PM Hey guys. Congrats to all the losers, unfortunately, I'm not one of them. Guess I need to change my ticker to 163(sigh). I still don't feel that great. I managed to do the 3 mile WATP tape but I wanted to quit the entire time I was doing it which is so unlike me. I still have the stinking rash. Even my face is red and blothcy which I hate, ya know- anything but the face! But I *think* it might be getting better. The bumps don't seem quite as red and large as yesterday. I'll be glad when they go away and I hope it never returns! I'll also be glad when I feel like myself again. Hate feeling like I have no energy. Well, that's enough complaining about me! I see that TEENSY uses red X's for legal good days and MONET uses red O's. SO I guess it's whatever works for ya. I think I will use red O's for On Plan days and I'll give myself a half O for 1 food item that is illegal, but no more than that. Off plan days are a big fat red X. So starting today, I'll see how many O's I can get for the rest of the month. I'm not changing my ticker until tomorrow, hoping that it will be less than 163,lol. Alright, I need to go.
TECH- those sound like it's just natural occuring sugars in the yogurt. Even a small orange has around 28 g of sugar in it. It's the added sugars you need to watch out for. Also, if it has sugar in the first 3 ingredients then it's not legal. For instance, my ww bagel this morning was made from whole wheat flour, water, stone ground whole wheat, and something else and then in the 5th ingredient it listed high fructose syrup(a no-no). But it's still okay to eat in moderation.
Almost forgot my menu.
BF- ww Bagel with 1 egg, 1 slice cheese, 3 slices NSA bacon(and 1 cup 2% milk)
Snack- LC strawberry yogurt
Lunch-wasn't that hungry since I had a late BF(10:30), so I had my last LC shake.
Snack- 1 tbsp Smucker's PB
Supper- Spaghetti(no noodles) and a big salad made with everything, Ranch dressing
Fillise 01-19-2005, 05:07 PM Hello all!
We made it to DC late yesterday afternoon. Just in time to be caught up in the traffic cause by a stand-of near the White House! We almost didn't make out first reception, but finally got through the traffic and to the Capitol area.
This morning we attended a prayer breakfast at Union Station that was wonderful. When we came out of the building about 11 it was snowing to beat the band. It looks like we got a couple of inchese and it is FREEZING here. Glad I brought warm clothes.
Tomorrow we will be outside most all day. The swearing-in is at 11:30 and then the parade (for which I scored grandstand seats this morning). The ball is at pm tomorrow night. We have tickets to both the Freedom ball and the Stars and Stripes ball. I hope to find someone today that can use on set of the tickets. We want to attend the Freedom ball because that is the ALabama ball and we will know more people.
Here's the real kicker--I'VE BEEN OP ALL WEEK! I found some Carb Well cereal and am using that as a snack in the hotel room. Other than that, I've been able to eat legally every where I've been. I have a party tonight and am planning to stay OP there too.
OK--got to go and begin getting ready for tonight's party,
I'll try to catch you up on the festivities as I can.
Susan
ps--Miss Belle will be stunning in black!
Solly 01-19-2005, 05:18 PM Good afternoon ladies.
This has to be a quickie as it is almost time to head home. Busy day.
Got in 20 TM minutes and 30 leg work last night. Will get at least my TM in tonight before he head out. 3 days of OP and red X's. Tonight is ww pizza (if my crust is ok from the freezer).
Monet, if Mr. Tom likes to go around nekid, post one of those pics please. Take that loss and run.
Bob, sorry you are not healing well. Still hoping they release you to go back to work.
Toni, yeah for your loss.
Missy: :cheer: WTG/ You are doing great.
Tech, the sugar in your yogurt is from the milk, lactose. If no added sugar is in there, it is legal.
Julia, glad the MS is getting easier.
Wood, I bet it is just water.
heart, glad your rash is getting better. My DD's lasted about 1 week.
Susan, sounds like a whirlwind of fun. Enjoy. Great job on eating OP with all the parties.
I know I missed some people, it's not intentional. Congrats to all the losers today. I am down 2 pounds from last week. Hope to catch up tomorrow. Have a great evening.
Pancho 01-19-2005, 06:09 PM Happy Wednesday everyone:
I hope it was a good weigh-in-Wed for most. I was at 122.5#'s; I am still hoping to get to 120#'s again soon! I have been doing well with my eating, overall. Tracking it is the best way to keep track of how many little "eats" you have during the day. Today has been OP except for a handful of kettle corn, about 7 FF, and a Balance Gold Bar, which was a sample at the gym. Yesterday was totally OP.
I was proud of myself. I went to bed at 9:30, so I could get up at 4 a.m. to go to the gym. Lane woke me up 3 times for various things. I looked at the clock at 3:54 a.m. and turned the alarm off. I then laid there and tried to justify staying in bed. I ended up getting up and going to the gym, and getting a good workout in. That's two days this week; I will go Friday and Saturday as well (4 days a week is my goal). I am also going to get back to doing my ab scissor every other day.
Heart: I hope that rash clears up soon and that you are feeling better. You'll get back below 160's soon!
Teensy: Our weather has been whacky too; we have gone from near low records to near high records (it was supposed to get to 80 degrees today). I know that sounds heavenly to most of you, and it is....in March, but not yet. I don't want to have a really hot summer. I have always gotten so frustrated with Fitday that I never really used it consistently. I have no idea where I am at with my fats/cals/proteins.
BOB: So sorry to hear about the x-ray results. Hang in there!!
Tech: There are natural sugars in yogurt, as there is in milk; it is the lactose. Natural sugars are fine...you just need to watch the added sugars.
Cindy: I am not sure what the book says about fruits, but since they are full of natural sugars, I would try to limit myself to 1-2 a day while trying to lose, and then up it when you are in the maintenance stage. With that being said, it is still a better snack then a lot of other things, so if you have more than two, it shouldn't be that big of a deal.
Monet: Sorry you had such a terrible turnout last night. But, congrats on the 1.5#'s!!
Toni: Congrats on the 1.5#'s!!! Keep up the great work!
Ken: Glad you are feeling better, and that you found an ob/gyn. The beginning of Feb is right around the corner. I know it seems so far away when you are waiting to find out about the baby though. How long do you think you have been pregnant? I know that most doctors say they can't see anything via an ultrasound until 6-8 weeks. Keep us informed.
Fillise: So glad you made it there safely and that you are having a great time. Enjoy yourself.
Jack: Keep up the great work with your exercise & eating!!
We had a fun time today. We went to the Police Museum and then to a Farmer's Market and out to lunch.
Gotta go get some stuff done before DH gets home; I am goign to have to take our dog to the vet when he gets here.
I'll check in sometime tomorrow.
Nat
Ellen 01-19-2005, 07:42 PM Good Afternoon everyone! I have had an incredible day! I went with a friend...the same young friend we went to the museum with...to her appointment with an alternative health professional...this one an Herbalist. Oh, my! It seemed weird, but wonderful. The herbalist told us about a school, which I looked up online when I got home. Its a distance learning college, and has EXACTLY what I have been looking for in nutritional counseling. The course of study is about $1300, and I am discussing with the hubby about whether I ought to look into it further and go for it! I would then be certified as a nutritional counselor. Of course, I could go for the Doctor of Naturopathy too... it just costs more! The courses sound wonderful and the have a spiritual emphasis and Christian beliefs I agree with. Woo hoo!
In other areas, I ate two pieces of leftover pizza for breakfast, grabbed one as a kind of early lunch as I ran out the door. On the way home, I shared a protein bar with Kathryn. When I got home, I was really hungry and the easiest thing to grab was another piece of leftover pizza. :( I am beginning to feel decidedly Italian!
Tom is doing his upper body workout, and I really need to go figure out what I am going to fix for dinner. I have not the first clue! And, on top of no idea, I have no appetite due to the pizza I ate recently. I may have to fix something for them, and skip eating myself. I would like some veggies though.
I will be back later to make my replies. :grouphug:
Toni48 01-19-2005, 08:18 PM Howdy everyone. Its been a long day but at least the house is clean and the fridge is cleaned out. Maybe tomorrow I'll straighten the cupboard. Also got the laundry done. Yippee. My eating has been weird. breakfast- ww bagel with peanut butter Snack 2 little cans V8 juice and three small pieces of cheese L- A half a polish sausage S- 2 rye vida crackers and peanut butter. Dinner- beef tips, salad, cauliflower. wow wheres my fruit and some veggies....???? Hopefully I can do better tomorrow.
Monet- congrads on the 1 1/2 lb. Yummy that pizza sounds good. Those on line classes sound great. Hope you go for it...
Fruit- Way to go girl, you're doing great. Keep up the good work.
Tech- Hope you get you some half and half real soon.
Julia- Sure have missed your sweet posts. Hope you get to feeling much better...
woodfrogs- Bet that swelling goes away in a couple days and you have a good weight loss.
heartmom- So sorry you're feeling bad. Hope that rash goes away soon.....
Fillise- Hope you have a great time. This is so exciteing!!!
Jack-K- Way to go on the exercise... Wish I had a pizza crust in the freezer...
Pancho- Great on going to the gym.... What determination!
fruitloupe 01-19-2005, 09:32 PM Hey Ladies!
I’m actually starting to type this at work and then I’ll post it from home!! I have to e-mail the document to myself at home and then post it from there!!
Did any of you see American Idol last night? HILARIOUS!! I just can't believe that some of those people actually THINK they can sing!! OH MY GAWD!!
Let me start catching up on some posts…
HEART: Why don’t you go to a dermatologist and get that rash checked out. They can give you a cortisone shot and knock that sucker out!! Well, as you can see – I didn’t get further down in the posts until now – and you went to the ER!!! But, see – I could be a DR. – go to the dermatologist!!
TEENSY: I can’t believe that little doe just stood there – that was definitely a KODAK moment!! I’m glad the dog didn’t scare it away! As for being a HOOCHIE MAMA….I don’t think I’ll be THAT fine!! LOL!!!
JACK-K: I was thinking the other day…if I meet a child that is old enough to know about fat and skinny – I want them to think that I’m skinny!! I don’t want them to say…I’m not going live with that fat lady!! LOL
MONET: I started to watch De-Lovely too and turned it off – I didn’t like it at all!
MOJO: Welcome to the board! I’m not an expert on the food – I’m just here to chat!! HAHA! I usually eat triscuits and cheese for a snack – I have about 6 of them. Then I drink a lot of water so they will swell up in my stomach!! HAHA!! I look forward to getting to know you!
TECH: I’m not writing a book about adoption – I’m making a scrapbook so that we can give it to social services. It is all about me and my DH and our family and friends. They use the books to show social workers/case workers to see if an adoptive family is right for and adoptee. It’s really fun – and it’s coming out really cute! I wish I could write a book – but I stink at writing!! LOL! Do you make your smoothie or does smoothie king have a legal smoothie? I have a gift card to smoothie king and I wasn’t sure if anything was legal there.
TONI: I sure hope you are feeling better soon! Hopefully the tests will reveal the cause. WTG on the loss – I’m so proud of you!!!!
PANCHO: We need to take some of our students on a tour like that! Maybe they can see some of their relatives!! LOL!! That was ugly – I know!! Hope it was fun!
BOB: So sorry you didn’t get the news you were hoping for at the doctor! That really stinks! Just take it easy and take care of yourself!
CINDY: What a cute picture of yourself!! You don’t look like you need to lose much weight!! Glad you are starting to like this WOE!!!
OK - now I'm finishing this from my house!!! I'm watching American Idol again and it is crazy! These people can't be "all there" if you get my drift!!
KENG: Hang in there girl…it will all be worth it in the end!
WOOD: I love to bowl!! But I agree with JACK-K – my butt sure hurts afterwards!!
FILLISE: Sounds like you are having a wonderful time there. I was thinking about you this morning when they were talking about all of that stuff on the news! Continue to keep us posted on the festivities! I’m glad that I have someone that I know that is so famous!!
Well, I'm signing off for now! I hope to see y'all tomorrow.
Missy
Ellen 01-19-2005, 09:51 PM Ok, I am reporting on dinner. I quickly defrosted some steaks my sister sent us from Omaha Steaks for Christmas, and fixed Brussel sprouts and heated up a can of seasoned organic lentils. Not a bad dinner, and ready in record time. :)
Now I don't feel very good. I should have skipped the steak and stuck with the lentils and Brussel sprouts, but how could I pass up prime sirloin? :?:
I got a neat brochure in the mail for an art book club. I am happily looking through it deciding which four books I want. I might not join, but it might be fun!
Will check in later!
Teensybean 01-20-2005, 02:17 AM Evening ladies--
I was up a pound this morning, but I do know that it is water. I can see it in my ankles. Will try and drink more today to help flush it out. Eating has been really good, so I know it can't be a fat gain. I have been on plan now for 20 days, Woo Hoo. Still doing a tad more exercising too, I really want to get rid of this gain. Congrats to all you losers, and the rest of us just need to hang tough!!
menu for 1/19/05
1/2 grapefruit before exercising;
B-- 1/3 c Roman meal hot cereal, SF syrup and Brown Sugar Twin
Lite 85 yogurt
snack-- apple
L--WW turkey wrap (tomato, lettuce, mustard, onion) 1/2 c coleslaw, 2 sf Baskin Robbins candies.
snack-- orange
D--Roast beef, 3 oz carrots, 4 oz celery, 1/2 c sf jello with lite whipping cream
2 TBL sf Ice cream
Seemed to have a sweet tooth today?? TOM is getting close, maybe that is why.
Water--128 oz
Toni-- Congrats, you are doing fantastic!!
Monet-- Pizza and beer?? My goodness girl, I thought you didn't drink. Maybe you need more pizza and beer if the scale moves down, lol. Hope that you will get to take your courses. Where do you find the time for all that you do??
Missy-- WTG, you are really doing great!! You ARE gonna be a hot mama for that cruise. Keep up the great work!!
Tech-- All milk products have sugar. Lactose is a milk sugar. But are better than added sugars. I don't see anything wrong with the yogurt. I eat the Blue Bunny Lite 85 every morning.
Keng-- Nice to hear from you. Glad that you are feeling a bit better. Guess I really lucked out with my boys. I never had any morning sickness at all. I think at this time, you must eat what you can keep down, and just try not to over do.
Woods-- Hang in there. Water does a number on us gals, doesn't it??
Heart-- LOL, I started with the red X's to keep myself on plan. Monet said she was going to use O's instead just to be different......the results are the same!! Glad that you think the rash might be healing. Rashes can be miserable.
Fillise-- Sounds like you are having a ball!! (Pun intended!!) Enjoy yourself and give yourself a big pat on the back. It is hard enough to stay legal at home, let alone on the road. Congrats!!
Jackie-- If Monet's dh likes to run around nekid, we all want to see a picture!!
Pancho-- I didn't like Fitday until I got all my brand of foods listed. Now it is pretty easy. When I try a new recipe, one of the first things I do is use it to figure out the counts and enter them. Now all I have to do is use the custom foods I have listed.
Well gang, that's it for the night, see you tomorrow
Ellen 01-20-2005, 08:45 AM Good morning! Just checking in. I slept like a log last night. It felt SO good! I only woke up once, which is phenomenal for me. I had really strange vivid dreams, however. I remember a lot of them which is unusual.
Its time for :coffee: , so I will check in a bit later!
Solly 01-20-2005, 09:29 AM Good Thursday Morning Ladies.
3 legal days under my belt and 3 days of good exercise too! Planningon today being #4 for both too. Now just to make it through the weekend. I was under 170 today and I don't want to see that number again. Of course I say that every Friday and come Monday... This week is going to be different.
Got in my tm and wts last night before we went to the Elk's Club. I only drank diet coke. My ww pizza crust wasn't great. I think it had been frozen too long. Plus I baked it a few mintues before adding the toppings and when I took it out of the oven, it slid off the pan onto the stove and broke. Most of all I just ate the toppings off.
Nat, good for you getting out of bed and getting to the gym. It is so hard to get up in the morning. Seems like that is when your sleeping the best. I have a question about the soy chips you eat. I bought some and noticed one of the ingredients os corn masa flour. it's the only soy tortilla chips I could find. Does yours have that?
Monet, that course sounds exciting and could be beneficial to you in the long run. I say go for it if you can swing the money. I had a strange dream last night and worke up and replayed the whole thing and I remember it vividly today. strange. OH, I met your challenges this week so far. How about you?
Toni, sounds like you had a productive day. Want to come to my house? Isn't it Monday you go for your test?
Missy, you crack me up. Speaking of cracks, how is yours? I thought about you, we were offered tickets to the LSU/UK game Sat, but couldn't take them. Didn't know if you were a BB fan or not.
Teensy, that water wt can drive you crazy. I know if I don't take my 3 water pills, I'm up 4 pounds. I think the tamoxafin makes me retain water, along with a few other side affects. It will be gone before you know it.
Well, I've wasted 1/2 hour and should be working. Will check back later. Have a great OP day!
Ellen 01-20-2005, 01:17 PM Hey, everyone. Today is not going quite the way I thought it would. I just made hummous, and ate some for lunch. My mouth is all burny from the garlic...yum. I have had several very discouraging things happen, and I am feeling a bit down. I had intended to go get on the TM, but I think I will put on my jacket and head outside for a little while.
The board is slow today....today is supposed to be tip day. Anyone got any tips to share?
Here is mine: Don't walk two miles in new shoes. (I learned that the hard way on Sunday...)
Toni48 01-20-2005, 01:34 PM Oh wow I'm having this wonderful lazy day! Since my house is clean and laundry is done. I just have a couple of things to do. So I went to sleep on the couch after my DH left for work and slept till the phone rang at 9 then fell back asleep till 10 when the phone rang again. So I'm finally up. I just had a yummy ww bagel with legal peanut butter for a late breakfast. I'm just going to enjoy this day. Tomorrow I grocery shop so it will be a busy day. Then the week end. Hopefully I can find some easy stuff to cook for next week so when I get home from the hospital I don't have to worry. I've got some white meat turkey burger for tonights meal. Wonder what I'll fix with that.....
Fruitloupe- Howdy gal, hope you're having a great day.....
Monet- The steaks sound good. Sorry it didn't agree with you.. I laughed so hard at your tip about not wearing new shoes.....
Teensy- your menu looks so yummy. Do you just roll your stuff up in a thin slice turkey for your wrap?
Jack-K- What a great week you're having.. Woo Hoo! Keep up that good stuff.... Yes Monday is when I go...
Well off to go enjoy the rest of my day..... Have a good one too...
THE BIG ORANGE BABE 01-20-2005, 01:47 PM AFTERNOON EVERY BUDDY!!!
Senator Kerry and Myself got "THE SHRUBS" back in office..... It was a nice ceremony...even if I say so MYSELF! I think they are headed in for lunch, and then ON TO THE PARADE!!!
I've been watching for SUSAN but it's just a sea of people out there..I hope she's warm....it looks so cold!!
I slept like a log last night...ALTHOUGH...at 1a.m. like clanging a bell, I suddenly had to THROW UP....TWICE!!!!! I just can't figure it out...after that, I went right to sleep!
My Nephew "REF'S" basketball, and he's going down to Miami on Feb 4th. I'm going with him, spend the night with Debbie and Eli and then back home after the game on Saturday. Short trip, but a little visit is better than none~! I haven't been down in two years, so it will be good to see them.
I'll be back later for replies...I want to get back to watching this. No matter what my PARTY is, this is still very emotional for me. I enjoy seeing all the hoopla!
BOB
Solly 01-20-2005, 03:46 PM Monet, sorry your day is not going well. Hope it imprves. Get out there and take a walk and your mood will improve.
Bob, Yuk! what could make you sick like that? When to go to Deb's kick her butt back on this board. Give her my love.
Toni, I'm having burgerst oo, I'm having navy beans, slaw and probably peas & onions for DH. Just throwing out some ideas. Enjoy your lazy day.
Teensybean 01-20-2005, 05:04 PM Good afternoon ladies,
Well, I got my rear in gear and entered my foods into Fitday for yesterday. I thought I had eaten way too much. I am sad to say my calories were only 995. I know that not eating enough is just as bad as over eating. I was feeling very full, though I did have a yen for sweets yesterday. I am off to a better start today as I had eggs with some venison hot sausage. I am trying to shoot for around 1500 calories. Does that sound about right to you guys?? Any idea's let me know, please.
My one pound gain was gone this morning so it was water as I expected.
Okay, the pups were up at 4 am this morning. Dh has been getting up and taking them out, but he didn't even hear us this morning. I let him sleep as he doesn't sleep much. So when I know he is asleep I let him. Then the little brats decided they wanted to stay up and eat. Well I made them lay back down until 5 then I fed them. We all went back to sleep after that until 9 am!! I don't know what is happening to me. I love my mornings, and have slept in twice this week.
It is so warm here today, for December that is. I sure wish it wasn't so sloppy and muddy out there. I would love to walk. The short little jaunts for potty breaks doesn't do much. Jo is so slow, as it is her breed. Basset's are not know for their speed, lol. I call her "Slow Mo" when we are walking. Have to get Buddy all better so we can resume our walks together. He is a speed demon!! I have to almost run to keep up with him.
Here's what I have planned for today;
1/2 grapefruit before exercising
B-- 2 eggs, 3.4 oz venison hot link
snack-Lite 85 yogurt, apple
L-- WW tortilla & turkey wrap (lettuce, onion, tomato, mustard)
1 c coleslaw
snack--orange
D--Chili with cheese and onion
1/2 c Jell-o with lite whipped cream
water--128 oz
Monet-- Glad someone got some sleep. My pups were up at 4 am for a potty break. Dh didn't hear them this morning so I got to get dressed and take them out. Then little Jo decided that since she was up she wanted to eat breakfast!! I did make her wait until 5. LOL. Gotta love them babies.
Jackie-- WOOO HOOO you are on your way. It just gets easier from here on out. We just have to take it one day at a time. I know you can do it!!
Toni-- I slept late again this morning too. In a few days I am going to try letting Buddy use his doggie door again. Just don't want to do it too soon. It is 3 weeks since his surgery today. So I think by Monday I will give it a shot. Since there is still deep snow, I don't think he will try much running. For the wrap, I used a WW tortilla. We have a brand here called Don Poncho's. They are a full size tortilla and LC with lots of fiber, so it is good all around.
BOB-- Sorry that you are still having problems. I am sure that you and Deb will have a great time, even though a short visit. Tell her we all miss her and she needs to get back here!
Will be back later.....
techwife 01-20-2005, 05:31 PM Hi everyone...well, I have my half n half, so I'm safe from the evil powdered creamer. Gawd...I feel so naughty!! Anyhow...I almost didn't get to go shopping today. But not much will come between me and shopping day...every other thursday unless the weather is really, really bad. And it has to be really bad for me to say its bad.
Anyhow...

Solly 01-20-2005, 05:57 PM Teensy, some days our bodies just need a little extra sleep. I know calories counting diets use 1200. BUt I think that is too low, so I would say between 1200-1500 would be good.
tech, you go girl! Nothing stops a shopper.
Time to go home. Dinner is burgers, beans and slaw. Nothingplanned tonight so I will be able to exercise. Hoping I can get my lazy arse out of bed in teh morning and get my TM in.
have a great evening.
Fillise 01-20-2005, 06:00 PM Hello all!
This will be quick as I am preparing for tonight's inaugural ball. We've changed balls and are now going to the Freedom Ball in Union Station( the Alabama ball).
The inauguration was fabulous, though very cold. Still it was awesome to see the ceremony in person. We came back to the hotel and had a good lunch (cream of asparagus soup and grilled salmon salad), We are now dressing for the ball. Tomorrow--we sleep!!!!!!!!
I'll talk to everyone soon!
Susan
Ellen 01-20-2005, 07:03 PM Afternoon, everyone! I had my drawing 'student' this afternoon. We did pen and ink and he did an awesome job on a detailed drawing of a dried rose. I was so proud of him! I discovered something I had forgotten- that I love doing pen and ink drawing! Its very well suited to my drawing style, so I think I am going to work on some drawings and see what I can produce. :) That helped my day tremendously!
Dinner tonight will be sauteed tilapia and probably green beans. I may throw in some black beans or something. I just ate some 70% chocolate, which is always a mood enhancer. Life is looking a tad better than a few hours ago.
TEENSY: I would say 1500 calories are more like it. You don't want to go into starvation mode.... I am glad your Buddy is getting better. I can relate to the fur babies wanting to be up and about too early. We usually leave them shut out of our room at night, or they will walk all over us all night. I have even had a cat bat at my moving eyeball during REM sleep! Very annoying! :) When Tom gets up, there is usually two or three kittens sitting in the hall right outside the door, waiting!
FILLISE: Thanks for the report! Have fun at the ball tonight! You are so good to stay on program! :cheer: Yay, Fillise!
BOB: That is great that you can get down to see Deb. Give her a big old hug from me...and a kick in the hiney to get back on here.
JACK: Did you see I posted on the exercise board? Did ya, huh? I, as usual, am kind of behind though....
TECH: I agree...if its a shopping day, do whatever you can to get out there and spend that money! It sure relieves boredom, right? I love half and half! I go through too much of it though!
TONI: I am jealous! A clean house AND clean laundry? Its rare that either one is caught up around here! Enjoy your lazy day! Its good for the soul!
Ok, I need to go work on dinner! Will check in later, gators! Speaking of gators, where IS Gator? I was thinking of Gator as I was walking, and feeling totally stupid for forgetting to put on my pedometer!
Cindylcing 01-20-2005, 07:58 PM Hi everyone. Sorry I didnt get the chance to post yesterday. It got so hectic here in the evening and I just ran out of time.
Yesterday was good ... today was good until dinner. I "Never" go to fast food places but when husband called to say he wasnt making it home tonight ( he drives a semi) and this is my third week working 12 hour days at work I just called my son and asked if hed like a arbys low carb turkey wrap. It was very good but after eating it I went to their website to get the breakdown on it for fitday, oh boy.. it put me way over calories for the day and fat grams.. but when I looked on my weekly percentages they were pretty good so maybe it didnt hurt too much. I just feel kinda bad now eating it and maybe I should of just ate half. But one good thing...they passed out hot choc and a huge cupcake at work today ( I havnt had either for over a year and 1/2 now) but i really thought about it and then I said nope..and passed them both off to someone else. So i guess if I have to weigh the two...the wrap was probably better than giving into the sugar.
Fruitloupe - thanks for the nice comment on the aviator. I wish I were thin. I am 5'5 and 212 - size 18, so I do have quite a bit to lose yet.. I started at around 240 size 24-26 so Ive made some progress, thank goodness lol.
Well wishes to you all. Have a wonderful evening.
techwife 01-20-2005, 08:58 PM Just a quick note to Cindy...that's great progress!! You should make a ticker for your signature and make sure you put in the original weight so you can track your progress!! That is truly something to be proud of. I've always been a size six most of my life, until about 6-7 years ago I gained about 50 pounds in about a year's time. It was stress related. Anyhow...now that I'm a well-rounded 16 and 5'2" weighing in at about 170, I'm really struggling with loosing weight because I've never had to before. But I'm really sick of feeling like I"m somebody else. Since I gained weight, I haven't been in able to get into the 160's except for a brief shining moment just before Christmas and then...well...eggnog happened. So, here's hoping...I have my size six cut off jeans still in my closet that I wore to Florida on Thanksgiving 1997...and they were loose!!! :( I don't expect to get into them again...but they're my inspiration, anyhow. Hey, ya never know...my goal is 130 and I weighed 125 then. Truly, I'd be happy to be in the 140's or so and we'll take it from there.
FREAKIN COLD tonight...wind chills are supposed to be in the minus 40's tonight. I wish I'd gotten that electric blanket for Christmas!! But I DID get a new box of Red Rose Tea today...and my half n half.
See yas later...will have more in-depth replies tomorrow...Kris
Ellen 01-20-2005, 10:04 PM Good Evening to all my Sugarbusting Buddies!
Dinner was the sauteed Tilapia, bulghur pilaf, and green beans. We had decaf coffee for dessert! :D After we finished eating, we sat around chatting with our son, who has to be the funniest story teller...he has us laughing whenever he starts in on his stories. Tonight, he was telling us about his co-workers, and he just makes the everyday stuff sound hilarious.
I feel awfully full from dinner. I still need to make Tom's smoothies before I head off to bed, but I have at least an hour before I HAVE to do that.
CINDY: I don't think the Arby's wrap was so bad. You have to make the best choices you can, and that sounds like a good one to me. :cheer: Way to go on passing on the cupcake and chocolate! You are doing great!
TECH: That does sound freaking cold! Stay warm! I ran out of half and half, so I guess I will be drinking tea in the morning...then going to the store first thing !
MONET gets a red O today! AND she gets to fill it in with yellow!
Good night everyone ! Sweet dreams, stay warm, and stay OP!
FILLISE: Don't dance your feet sore!
Teensybean 01-21-2005, 01:35 AM Evening all--
Not much more to say tonight. I used the last of my apples tonight, so am feeling bad for my little four legged friend. She comes running when I rattle the sack with the cut up apples in it. Dh is going to call the orchards to see if any of them have some left over apples that we could get.
I need to ammend my menu, I didn't eat an afternoon snack, so NO orange today. Getting up so late, I didn't need it. I also got back on the bike and rode another 11 miles. Will head over to the exercise board and edit my post when I am done here.
Tech-- You are woman!! I was a single mom for years, so I know all that stuff too. It has been an awfully long time since I have changed a tire though, lol. Hope it is a lot longer too.
Jackie-- Thanks for the info. I would like to find a calorie guide line somewhere. I was always told your body weight X's 10 or 12, depending on how active you are. Does this sound about right to you??
Fillise-- Have a wonderful time. I hope you will be the Belle of the Ball!!
Monet-- That must have been a real eye opener, huh?? I am sorry, but I am still giggling. Sometimes I get this mind pictures and just can't help it. My kitty won't come in the house. But we have a very cozy place for her out in the shop. Right next to the wood stove. During the cold spell, dh or I would go out every couple hours and put wood in the fire so she could stay warm. Spoiled......not my animals!! YEAH, Monet gets a big O for the day....congrats!!
Cindy-- I eat the Arby's wraps occaisionally. I usually order the turkey and swiss dry, then add my own mustard. WTG on passing on the hot choc and cupcake!! I think you are looking great Cindy. You have done a great job......and I really think you will like this plan. Just give it time to work. It will happen.
Well, that's it for me......sweet dreams all.
Solly 01-21-2005, 10:56 AM TGIF,
Everyone must be sleeping in today. it is almost 10 here.
Got my tma nd wt training in last night, but I didn't get up early this morning and do the TM. It is so hard to get out of that warm bed. I'm shooting for either Sat or Sun to add on emore day to my 4. this week.
Don't know what dinner will be, but I brought my soy chips with me in case we do Mexican. I can always get a taco salad w/o the shell. So I am prepared.
Monet, yes I did see your post on the exercise board. But you still need 3 days. Better hurry. Glad your day improved. You are having fun with those colors aren't you. Yeah for you on the O & E.
Susan, I looked for you at the inauguration but I didn't see you. It looked cold. Hope you danced the night away last night.
Cindy, don't beat yourself up about the wrap. Is it a ww wrap? I have never had one. It might be over your calories and fat but probably ok on SB. WTG on passing up the cupcake.
Kris, stay warm, somehow.
Teensy, go to fitness.com or ediets.com they prbably have something on there that might direct you on calories.
Need to get busy here. Be back later
Pancho 01-21-2005, 11:29 AM Good Friday morning:
I hope it has started out to be a good day for you all. I was still at 122.5# this morning, but I know TOM is going to be here any minute/day. My eating has still not been 100%, but it is getting a lot better day by day. So far today, I have had a WW english muffin & egg for breakfast.
I did go to the gym on Monday & Wednesday and did my Ab Scissor yesterday. I will be going to the gym this afternoon too. I hope to get it posted on the exercise board, but I only have dial-up and everything is so darn slow. We live in an area that we do not have access to high speed internet yet, so I just do what I can when I can.
I went to take my dog to the vet Wednesday night, and I haven't seen him in over a year.....he kept going on about how different I looked and how thin I was, and how "cute' my hair is now. He is married to a good friend of mine, who I haven't seen in about 6 months either. It is always nice to hear, and pulls me two ways....gives me incentive to keep up the good work and only get better....and, makes me feel like I have worked so hard, and look good enough so why push it. Sounds corny, eh? I think I'll try to stick with the incentive one, and try to improve on my muscle tone since the spring/summer months are right around the corner.
Monet: That sounds like an awesome course. It does seem "weird" at first, but these alternative doctors really do have a lot of the answers. A lot of mainstream doctors really do their best, because medicine is all that they have been taught. But a lot of them are also driven by incentives from the FDA and pharmaceutical companies. I was reading an article the other day about oncologist that encourage cancer patients to get chemo/radiation when they would not undergo it themselves if they were in the same situation. My daughter was going through some major problems with her esophagus and she was seeing the best specialist in the state, but the best that they could do was put her on steroids (Flovent inhaler - 6-8 puffs 3x per day). That was destroying her body...her body was getting weaker and her body was full of yeast. It wasn't correcting the problem, but masking the symptoms. Once we took her to the homeo doctor, she made incredible strides, and is on her way to true recovery. They are helping build her immunity and build up a resistance to allergens that are one of the culprits for her condition. I know you like to read, you might enjoy reading a book called Patient Heal Thyself by Jordan S. Rubin, N.M.D., PH.D. It really opens your eyes and is incredible reading. I hope your day is brighter today than it was yesterday.
Toni: I got my fridge cleaned out too; not a fun job but glad I got it done. You had V8, cauliflower and salad; that's more veggies than some get in a day ;) , although more is always better. You need to unplug that darn phone when you nap (ha).
Teensy: 20 days....WOW! What an inspiration you are. I was going to comment on your calories before you posted, but knew you'd find it out when you went to Fitday. Glad you dropped that water pound. I always found in the past...when I skimped on calories, I gained or stayed the same. In order to lose, I felt like I was eating all the time.
Jack: Great job....4 days is a really awesome start! The soy flax chips that I get actually have yellow corn in them, but I eat them in moderation. They are considered low-carb, and a portion size is 17 chips, which I never eat. So, technically not SB friendly, but low-carb safe, so in my modified plan, I allow them, as I would popcorn.
BOB: Tell Deb hello and that she is missed. Have a safe trip. Glad you got a well-deserved good night's sleep. I wonder why you had to throw-up. I hope you are feeling better now.
Tech: That's a funny story! Glad you got your shopping done & got rid of that powdered creamer. Are you satisfied with a Smoothie for lunch? I have read a lot lately about people replacing BF, Lunch or both with Smoothies and are losing weight by doing it. Are you adding any protein powder to get some protein in there? Where are your snacks? Make sure you are eating enough or you will stop losing weight. It was such a hard concept for me to understand, but once I upped my calories, my body started to burn them instead of hanging on to them. I dropped 32 pounds and over 22 inches in about 6 months (remember that was 10-15# less than what I thought I'd lose). Keep those cut-off jeans!!! I remember making a comment to my husband, during the wt. loss journey, that I'd love to fit back into those size 5 shorts that I was wearing prior to getting pregnant. He commented to me that I never would again. He said, and I quote, "you are in your mid 30's now, and you have had 2 kids, your body is different and you won't be able to get into those again....maybe a 7." Well, that must have been the incentive I needed since I am now able to wear size 5's and have even bought 3 pairs of size 3 jeans in the Junior Dept in the past few months. It can happen if you really want it to.
Cindy: That seems to be the problem with so many low carb foods, you get so many calories and so much fat, but you also usually get a lot of fiber, which will help out. Those wraps aren't so bad, but 1/2 is usually enough for me. Good job passing on the sugar; that is really the most important thing right now...getting the sugar out of the system. You can work on better choices or smaller servings later....one step at a time. You are doing great.
Lane has been waiting patiently for me to play with her, so I gotta go!
Nat
techwife 01-21-2005, 01:00 PM Thanks, Nat, for the words of encouragement! Trust me, I'm never getting rid of my cut offs. And I was bad yesterday and skipped lunch because of shopping (I live in the boonies and it takes 45 mins just to get to the store!) and I took Kyle to McDonald's (He loves the play place) for lunch and I didn't want to take out a small mortgage for a salad and water, so I just got water instead and had my smoothie as soon as I got home. So, it was more like a combo snack/lunch. But I've gotten accustomed to knowing that when I have that hollow feeling in my gut I've got to get something healthy down the hatch asap or else my body will start going into survival mode and start storing fat. AND, you should keep on going on plan and excercising, etc, etc. Even if you don't need to loose weight, it's still a healthy thing to do and will only benefit you in the long run...and keep pounds from sneaking up on you!! The more you're in shape, the better you'll be if a good party comes around or some holiday (like Christmas, for instance!!) and you go off plan...if you're keeping up the pace, you won't gain a pound!! And exercising sets off natural happy hormones that is good for you and the whole family!! Definitely my vote is for you to stay on plan and to keep exercising.
School is closed today because of the extreme cold. Right now, at 11:30-ish, it's minus 15 degrees...add in the slight breeze blowing in the tree branches and you don't even want to know what the wind chills are. But it's bright and sunny...not a cloud in the sky...which ultimately only makes it colder. The river is frozen over now, so no freaky frozen fog is blowing in at least. Feels like a good old fashioned North Country Winter!!
On the upside, I've already gotten my 20 mins in on the AirDyne and multiple crunches...fifty on the middle and twenty each on the obliques.
Today for BF
French toast made with sourdough, flavored with butter and splenda
Strawberries
coffee with HALF N HALF!! It is so yummy in my coffee...thanks, you guys, for recommending it...I like it even better than the evil powdered stuff :D
Lunch will be probably...
Broiled scallops
Salad
more strawberries (I have to eat them before they go bad...I got 2 containers because they were buy one get one free!!)
Milk or water
Dinner will probably be...
Turkey chili
WW bread
Snacks...will try to have a kiwi or an apple...thanks again for the reminder!! ;)
Kris
BOB...hats off to watching the inaugural festivities...specially when it seems you voted the other way. I coudn't watch it because I frankly get sick of all the protesters and hatred towards the president.
Jack...
Fillise...How exciting to be going to an actual inaugural ball!! I'm soooo looking forward to your reports on how things went. Hope you took pictures and can post them here. Can we post pictures? I at least need descriptions of what you wore.
Toni...I'm truly jealous. I've decided my house won't be clean again until my kids go off to college. I could make a full-time job out of just following them around and my husband doesn't help one bit by bringing home toy after toy for the kids. Which I ultimately love...they're only little once and then you never get their littleness back. So, I suffer with the mess for now. I try to clean up, but there's just no place to put it all. We have a small house that was built in the 1880's and they apparently just didn't believe in closets then. Oh, well.
I have to go to the library today. You know those American Girl dolls and books that have a girl that represents a certain time period? Well, Shelley's about to start studying the Revolutionary War, so I've ordered her a couple of the books staring...is it Felicity? The girl from the Revolutionary War, anyway. She's reading a book now called The Winter of the Red Snow that is a diary of a girl that lived in Valley Forge when Washington settled his troops there for the winter. It sounds gory, but it's really just being realistic...the red snow is from the soldiers that had no shoes and their feed were bleeding. Sounds gross...and that part is...but it's a great book (I read it...I love kids books...nice and simple reading...).
Anyhow...I had my apple for a snack, by the way...I'm rambling because I had something else to say but I can't think of what it was....OH...
Has anyone heard from Sebray? Haven't seen her post in a couple of weeks!!
Well, that's it for now...talk you you guys later...
ps...HELLO to everyone I missed...
woodfrogs 01-21-2005, 01:20 PM Hi everyone,
I had to meet someone early this morning, and am now getting a chance to post. Got some good exercise, Wed:bowling, Thurs:regular gym workout, and todays walk in the 2 degree cold. I posted all of that on the exercise board.
I've been drinking a lot of water and decaf tea, and my eating has been much better this week. I passed on the cupcakes yesterday at lunch, plus skipped the chips and ate raw carrots with the venison and onions we cooked here at work. YUM!
It sounds like the Inauguration parties were pretty spectacular, kudos to those who went.
menu today:
egg, bacon, cheese on rye toast(1 slice)
1/2 low fat pb sandwich on rye
1 apple
carrots and celery
not sure about dinner yet, I'm going to a Pampered Chef party, but will bring some of my carrots and celery in case in gets too fattening at the party.
Scales are funny things, I got on the scale this morning, was sad, then got on again after my shower and it was 2# less....go figure!
I'm hoping to give platelets this afternoon, hopefully I ate enough iron-rich foods this week to qualify.
Have a great day everyone!
Barbara
Fillise 01-21-2005, 01:30 PM It's noon and I've just climbed out of bed! It was quite a night last night! Our ball was the Freedom Ball at Union Station. It was beautufully decorated--there was lots of food--didn't touch a bite--just had one glass if wine. Here'e the deal about inaugural balls--they are jam packed. There were no tables, so no places to sit. As you can imagine all the women have on their prettiest, therefore their most uncomfortable shoes. Me included. My feet were killing me one hour into the evening--so I took of my shoes and then was fine (actually one of my heels kept feeling like it was about to break). When I looked around, I wasn't the only one carrying my shoes!
My dress was a blue beaded gown with gold, silver, and purple beads for accent as well as white pearls. I had a lot of people tell me the gown was fabulous and ask where I got it--they had a fit when I said I bought it on ebay! You can follow the link to see a purple version of the gown.http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&category=63861&item=5351614034&rd=1
The President and Mrs. Bush came by about 8:00 pm. Her gown was gorgeous! You've probably seen in on TV or in the paper, but in person it was stunning! They danced and he spoke and everyone cheered. A lot of folks left right after that, but we stayed until about 10:00 when our feet just couldn't take any more! It was a great experience! It was so much fun to look at all the dresses and meet all the people from the different states. We were with Illinois and Lousiana (I think) and the Diplomatic Corps--so we had a lot of foreigh ambassadors at the party. I took pictures and when I get home I'll get them scanned in (still don't have a digital camera--though I'm looking).
Wednesday night we went to a recpetion at the four seasons hotel for one of our Senators. That was a great party too!
The most thrilling thing, though was watching the president take the oath of office. BOB is right. The inaugural cerempny is one that we should all respect whether the man you voted for is getting sworn in or not. After all, in most countries when the government changes leaders, a war and/or violence is involved. This ceremony has marked the orderly transfer of power since the beginning our country. Even when we swear in the incumbent we acknowledge that this is the people's will and he pledges to the people again to uphold the consitution. Very moving!
We slept in this morning, but are going to visit my good friend the Hope Diamond this afternoon!
We are also keeping an eye on the weather because a large storm is headed our way tomorrow and NC got snow and Ice last night--so we don't exactly know what is the best thing to do!
I hope eeryone is doing well. I'll try to do some responses when I get back. I did have some chocolate last night (They left a special box of inaugural chocolates in the hotel room last night). I had two pieces before bed, but will be back on track today!
Love to you all!
Susan
Ellen 01-21-2005, 02:01 PM Just a fly by...so no color! Went to the church office and did worship guides. I have a movie night tonight, and I am panicking, as it sounds like no one is coming. I hate having a big event planned and a poor turn out!
I have to run over to the store and get some stuff I need to cook my dish for the dinner tonight. I am making a chicken pie. I also plan on making a bulghur bean salad.
I hope I have time to post more later!
THE BIG ORANGE BABE 01-21-2005, 02:23 PM AFTERNOON EVERY BUDDY!!!
I awoke to the wonderful sounds of THE CITY OF SARASOTA PUTTING IN NEW WATER MAINS!!!! At least, they didn't start until 9a.m. Tippy went out and had to speak to all the men. We're lucky in one aspect...the same group of men come when there is a problem, so we have gotten to know them and trust what they tell us.
I have to set the alarm on Monday and Tuesday to get back in the swing of getting up. WEDNESDAY IS THE DAY!!! I've had ENOUGH of being at home.
SUSAN...Your dress is absolutely beautiful!!! Can't wait to see a picture.
I was watching last night but didn't see you at all! Not even THE GIRLS!!!
By the way, how did THE GIRLS do? Were you able to strap them in?
Wonder what's going on at the WHITE HOUSE today? I had to laugh when I saw JEB and his WIFE....He looked like LURCH next to her!
TECH...STAY WARM!!!! I know I belly ache because it's COLD DOWN HERE, but I also know that it's NOTHING compared to what you're going thru!
I've got to go for now....I'll check back in later!
BOB
THE BIG ORANGE BABE 01-21-2005, 02:36 PM Stand by your man (joke)
A police officer pulls over a speeding car. The officer says, I clocked you at 80 miles per hour, sir."
The driver says, "Gee, officer I had it on cruise control at 60, perhaps your radar gun needs calibrating."
Not looking up from her knitting the wife says: "Now don't be silly dear, you know that this car doesn't have cruise control."
As the officer writes out the ticket, the driver looks over at his wife and growls, "Can't you please keep your mouth shut for once?" The wife smiles demurely and says, "You should be thankful your radar detector went off when it did."
As the officer makes out the second ticket for the illegal radar detector unit, the man glowers at his wife and says through clenched teeth, "Darn it, woman, can't you keep your mouth shut?" The officer frowns and says, "And I notice that you're not wearing your seat belt, sir. That's an automatic $75 fine." The driver says, "Yeah, well, you see officer, I had it on, but took it off when you pulled me over so that I could get my license out of my back pocket."
The wife says, "Now, dear, you know very well that you didn't have your seat belt on. You never wear your seat belt when you're driving."
And as the police officer is writing out the third ticket the driver turns to his wife and barks, "WHY DON'T YOU PLEASE SHUT UP??" The officer looks over at the woman and asks, "Does your husband always talk to you this way, Ma'am?"
I love this part....
"Only when he's been drinking."
GatorGal 01-21-2005, 02:39 PM Hi everyone,
I've been so busy that I just haven't had time to even post and I have just skimmed the last 2 pages of posts.
I had French class on Tuesday and also was studying for a Bible class I take. Then On Wed. I went to work, then spent an hour with my mentee, and then raced downtown to take off with my DH on a quick trip up to Gainesville, where we spent the night. Then back and right to class. I didn't get home until 2:30 the next day. I then picked up my mentee and we spent 3 hours finishing her papers for her college and scholarship apps. Today I had a computer geek over to fix some stuff on the ole computer. He spent a couple of hours getting everything shipshape and did everything except installing an international phonetic alphabet as a font. He has to do more research on it and find the one for French. There are a TON of phonetic symbols out there because there are so many different sounds for all the different languages in the world.
Exercise has been OK, but I've been running so hard that I haven't been meeting my goal of at least 10000 steps. I've been getting 6 or 7000 or so. Eating, also, has been so-so. OK but not perfect. Weight still the same.
I have a foot reflexology session at a local day spa this afternoo |
