Ellen 01-10-2005, 08:15 AM Good morning! Another week....and another chance to treat yourself well, and be successful!
Anyone want to report on last week? I did a bit of the challenge. I threw out the cookies that were left and packaged up and put out of sight the chocolate chips and other cookie decorations. I had a fairly good week, but I need to get more serious about exercise and water....
So this week, here is another challenge:
EXERCISE!! Get in at least 3x this week, and post it on the exercise board.
WATER!! Drink all your water every day! Remember if you are overweight, or exercising, you need more than the recommended amount of 8 glasses of water a day!
Here is to a great week! Let DO it!
Ellen 01-10-2005, 08:21 AM I wanted to mention I heard from Deb this morning. Michael went back to school. She said she has been sick and still has computer issues. Not sure if she will be back anytime soon, but wanted to let you all know what is going on with her.
Toni48 01-10-2005, 09:09 AM Good Monday Morning All..... A new week. I hope I can do Monet's challange about exerciseing this week. That old treadmill is calling to me but I'm not hearing it well. I got me some water at 6 this morning and am already drinking it. We went out Sat. night because it was our 17 year anniversery. But Sunday was just an old lay around day, so now I've got all the laundry and stuff to do. Tomorrow I go see my cardio. and am hateing I've gained weight and know he's going to get on me about it. I'll be glad when its over. B-1 egg 1 bacon coffee L-leftover ham and beans S- yogurt and pistachios D-pork cutlet, salad, vegetable.
Monet- Thanks for starting the board. I hate to hear Deb's been sick. Wish she would get back here. I'm with you on the exercise and water.
Solly 01-10-2005, 09:42 AM Good Morning Ladies
Hope everyone had a great weekend.
I have a little pocket calendar. I'm going to write down my food, my daily wt, a big yeloow E for exercise days and a beg red X for OPdays. I hope to see a whole month of red X's and yellow E's. Hoping this will give me some added motivation. I brought my new pedometer to work. If I have time I will figure it out and strap it on.
BF (Nat-before I left home). Special K Low carb with straberries, splenda a milk.
Snack (if I need it) NSA yogurt
Lunch 1/2 roast beef sandwich (Bread is 35 cal so it is 1/2 of a starch) 1/2 pc of swiss cheese, carrots, caulliflower and dip, apple.
Dinner: Grilled chicken on lots of green leaf lettuce and veggies (mushrooms, onions, egg).
Monet, I'm with you on the challenge. In fact I'm hoping to do better than that. I will try to post on the exercise board. I have trouble with time in gettng over there. Sorry to hear Deb is sick. Sure wish she would get back on here.
Toni, You can get on the treadmill. Start out slowly. I am challenging you to get back on there this week even if it is only 10 minutes.
I need some prayers. My Son-in-law's sister had her baby Saturday. She was only 24 weeks. The little boy only weighed 15 oz. He is doing good so far. The first 3 days are critical. They are really in need of a miracle. Not only that he lives but that there are no complications later. My great niece weight only 1 1/4 lbs when she was born at 24 weeks. She had 3 surgeries, heart and a clostomy and reversal. We celebrated her 9th birthday yesterday. She had a twin that did not survive. She has had no problems at all since. Ceberal Palsey and eye problems are two major concerns with premies but she is fine. She is truly our miracle baby.
Ok, off to work. Be back later. Have a great OP day.
Ellen 01-10-2005, 10:12 AM I got a cake in the oven, rolls started, the chicken breasts boiled, and a cup of coffee! I am making dinner for the leadership meeting at church tonight. My first time back since October. I am making chicken noodle soup, bulghur bean salad, rolls and birthday cake. (Its one of the leader's birthdays today) I am dragging today though. I slept rather poorly. I can't figure out why...but the one thing that stands out is that my back was hurting really badly, so I took a Lortab. I am wondering now if the Lortabs caused my insomnia back right after my surgery??? One good thing to report, my swelly belly seems to have improved some! Yay! I am getting tired of having a swollen, tender belly!
TONI: Clean out your ears, woman! That treadmill is your FRIEND! You don't want to be a bad friend do you???? ;)
JACK: I will be praying for the tiny little guy! We have a friend who was born very premature and does have a bit of cerebral palsy. He has over come it well, and is the neatest guy you would ever want to meet.... Premies can be so delicate...I hope and pray this guy is a trooper and makes it!
kengjw 01-10-2005, 10:28 AM Good morning...
Sorry I haven't been here a lot the last few days. I have not been feeling too well so I am going to see my dr this afternoon. Today, Jess will be having her first music/dance class (Kindermusik), I am so excited for her and I know she will have a blast as well. She doesn't know it's today so I can't wait to take her there.
I started this morning with some leftover stir-fry pasta and veggies. Yea, bad choice but I really do not have appetize for anything else. I will probably have some fruit salad later.
I will try to report back on how I am doing but won't be able to do much replies today. Hope you all have a good day! Monet, thanks for starting the board :)
Julia
kengjw 01-10-2005, 10:31 AM Jack : More prayers are going to the little guy as well. Gosh, that must be so scary...I cannot imagine what the family is going thru.
Julia
Toni48 01-10-2005, 10:48 AM Jack-K- Prayers for the little guy.. May he continue to get strong. And bless his family... Thanks for the encouragement about the treadmill. I did get on it and walked a bit.
Julia- I hope you get feeling better soon. I miss your posts...
Monet- Hope you get to feeling a little more perky today.
Fillise 01-10-2005, 11:35 AM Morning everyone! I had a good weekend eating wise, so I'm hoping it starts to show up on the scale soon. I ate my big meal at lunch yesterday and am going to try it today too. Since I work at home I can cook for lunch most days. I'm going to see if that helps me to get through the afternoon better.
Jackie--Prayers for the little fellow also! When my youngest niece was born there was the tiniest little premie in the nursery. So tiny it looked like there was no way he could survive. I noticed a man with a very healthy five-year-old son at the window and I ask if the premie was his. He said yes and that the son by his side was also that size when he was born, so they can do amazing things with premies. Hope so with this little guy.
Julia--Hope you get to feeling better!
Toni--I think that treadmill is calling a little louder now!
Monet--As usual you are always taking care of everyone! Make sure you do what you need to do for you!
Deb--Come back to us when you can--we miss you!
I've got pork chops thawing and some left over peas and brown rice for lunch. Don't know about supper yet, might try to do a soup.
Have a great OP day everyone!
Susan
GatorGal 01-10-2005, 11:36 AM Monet--thanks for starting the board. You're the greatest!
Jackie--it's amazing to think about this precious little life, so young and small, and realize that some "mothers" actually terminate the life of babies older than this one. I pray that he makes it and becomes another miracle.
I have 6000 steps so far. I got up and hit the streets in our neighborhood. Everyone was walking cause it is so beautiful here now. I got my 2 miles in and have eaten and cleaned the kitchen. I actually go back to working out with the weights today. First time in weeks because I don't lift weights when I'm sick.
I appreciate this week's challenge. Drinking the water will be harder for me than the exercise. Also, I need to concentrate on eating smaller portions and keeping my snacking limited. I was a little out of control last week. I have been reading with interest all the articles on the new book about how to eat like a Frenchwoman.
So far today: 1/2 grapefruit, small bowl of Shredded wheat and bran, strawberries and sk. milk.

Pancho 01-10-2005, 12:33 PM Good Morning:
OK, this is it; the week I eat right and exercise!! I am letting too many things distract me and throw me off plan. I have only had a protein shake this morning w 1/2 cup 100% apple juice, 1/2 cup unsweetened soy milk, 1 banana, 1 cup mixed berries and 1 scoop protein powder. I think next time, I will throw in some flax meal to get some good fat in there, and it will hold me over for longer.
We are expecting another big storm tonight and into tomorrow. I have my Mom's Night Out tomorrow night, so I hope it doesn't rain too much, and prevent me from going.
Monet: Thanks again for starting the board; it is much appreciated. I plan to get at least 3 days of exercise in this week, and water is never much of a problem for me. Thanks for the update on Deb. You sound like you are busy today. Enjoy the church meeting tonight.
Toni: Happy belated Anniversary. Good luck at your Dr's appt.
Jack-K: Great idea on the calendar. It will help keep you accountable -- it seems to be working for Teensy. Glad you ate your breakfast before leaving the house this morning ;) . I will be praying for the precious little baby. Do they know what caused the mom to go into early labor? Technology has come such a long way....your great niece sounds like a fine example of that.
Ken: I hope you are feeling better soon, and that Jess enjoys her class.
Fillise: I think eating the biggest meal at lunchtime is a great idea, if you can swing it. I always seem to be my hungriest between lunch and dinner.
Gator: It's nice to get that walk out of the way early, isn't it? I love to workout early and know that nothing that happens during the day will prevent me from getting my exercise in.
My rash seems to be clearing up..finally.
I plan to go to the gym this afternoon before picking Britt up from school. I then plan on going Wed. morning, Friday afternoon, and Saturday morning. I will try to get it posted on the exercise board.
I have some housework to do, so I better get going.
Have a great OP day!!
Nat
Ellen 01-10-2005, 01:10 PM Just got in from the store and decided to check in. The cake is baked, the dough for the rolls is rizing...I hope. I have the bulghur soaking for the salad. At the store, I got veggies for the soup. I almost got alphabet pastas, then decided the wide ww noodles were better, so I got them. Now I am wishing I got the alphabet ones...they are more fun!
My stomach is burning something fierce. Its the new coffee I made this morning....another kind I can't tolerate! grrrr... When its like this the temptation is to try and eat something to soothe it. I think today, instead, I will take me a little lie down and see if I feel better!
I guess Heartmom is in the middle of moving...hope all is going well for them!
I will check in later!
Solly 01-10-2005, 01:33 PM Monet, sometimes those pain pills can wire you. Could have been your problem. I'm going to make some veggie soup tonight too. Hope you start feeling better. Stay out of the cake!
Toni, WTG girl. I knew you could do it. Now I have to do mine tonight to keep up with you.
Ken, hope you find out what's wrong at the Dr. Feel better.
Susan, Good for you having a great weekend. You should see a loss on the scale.
Gator, boy sounds like you are up and at it today. 6000 steps is great so far. I fooled with my pedometer a bid and didn't get to far. Will get back to it later.
Nat, you can get back on track. You have determination. We are expecting some heavy rain AGAIN tomorrow and Wed. Hope it doesn't mess up your plans. The girl had really high blood pressure and has been in the hsopital since Christmas. They were keeping her until she delivered. Her liver was so swollen it almost ruptured so they had to do a emergency Csection and the baby was in distress. He had already lost 1/2 pound. They can do so much these days.
THE BIG ORANGE BABE 01-10-2005, 02:04 PM AFTERNOON EVERY BUDDY!!!
There is something wrong with my computer today. I lost all 10 emails that were coming into my in box...I did find one from MONET over in my suspect email...but when I clicked to send it to my inbox, it moved, BUT DIDN'T SHOW UP!!!
MONET...send that to me again...I did open it while it was in the suspect box
and I'd love to do it...try it again
JACKIE...ALL FINGERS AND TOES CROSSED for that little guy! Keep us updated...SOUP...sounds good, but I cooked a big pot of yellow eyed beans yesterday....plenty of protein...yum yum yum
JULIA....HI GIRLFRIEND!!!
TONI...HELLO TO YOU TOO!!!!
NAT...HOWDY!!!
GATOR....
SUSAN....
I've got to go...have to try and fix what ever that problem is here...Keep your fingers crossed I can do this...
BOB
techwife 01-10-2005, 03:30 PM BOB - Got everything crossed that you get your puter fixed!! Dern things...I LOVE my new mouse!!
MONET - Hope your tummy feels better soon...good luck being around CAKE!! I"d fail miserably...
NAT - Have fun with the cozy weather - that's the way I see inclimate weather...my chance to stay in, have cup of tea and work on my afghan or a good book...
GATOR - NO PAIN NO GAIN, CHICKA!! :strong:
SUSAN - That's a great plan to have the big meal at lunchtime. I"d do that, too, but the hubby would never go for it if I gave him a cold sandwich for dinner...and I have better things to do with my time than spend ALL DAY in the kitchen cooking a zillion things...like building snowmen with my kids :)
TONI - HIYA!!
JULIA - Have fun with Jess in her little dance class. I remember Shelley taking dance when she was three and four. So cute in the little tutus...they grow up FAST!! Savor every moment, Julia!!
JACK - I just started going back to church this week and I also say nightly prayers with my son at bedtime, so you and your little peanut will be included in all prayers...what a heartbreaking thing to go through...
:grouphug: Hugs and prayers all the way, Chicka!
Anyhow...I think that covers everyone...As I said, I've started going to church again...I've been upset going to the church I've been going to since I moved here...since I'm a stay at home mom, everyone figures I should be the sole volunteer for everything in town and every time I went to church I would get cornered...'we're having VBS and we put YOU in charge!'...'we're having a new spin on Sunday school and having it on Mondays and we though YOU would be great at being in charge of it!!'...my husband throws fits because he's from California and is positive that we'll end up sued by someone that abuses their kid and will blame me for unexplained bruises, etc. So, going to church has been somewhat stressful for me and as a result, I've just stopped going. Also, one person that was supposed to help out with a certain part of Monday school (the pastor!) didn't show up one day and one of the moms was upset that I didn't do what HE was supposed to do (pick up the kids from school and bring them to chuch) and now everytime she sees me she glares at me as if I'm a menace to society and the person in charge of the youth program can't be at church on MOndays because she works and she was mad at me for being in charge of a youth program and not having her there and she hasn't talked ot me since...so now I"m going to hang out with the Episcopalians on SUndays instead of the Methodists. Its all the same to me, I guess, since I'm unaware of an Episopalian or Methodist section of heaven...as long as I"m going to church is the main thing, right? BUt I'm just a bit confused in the Episcopal church when I"m supposed to do the cross sign over my chest...I know there's a word for it, but I always end up doing it after everyone else is done...and I'm getting used to the slight tweaking of the Lord's Prayer. If anyone else here is Episcopalian, I'd love some insight...do kids get confirmed and when? that type of thing. I love Methodists, too, just our Methodist church is stressing me out. Actually, I grew up in a Lutheran church, but the nearest Lutheran church is almost an hour away and I'm barely motivated to walk two blocks to the Episcopalian church. And my mom told me that the Episcopalian church is more closely associated to the LUtheran church but I thought the Methodist one was...
but..
Anyhow...it feels good to be going to church again, either way. I like jsut sneaking in, sitting in the back row, worshiping, tossing a couple bucks in the plate and then going home to make breakfast without some curriculum for something I got talked into...
That's it for now!!
Kris
Solly 01-10-2005, 04:57 PM Techwife, I always thought Episcopalian was closer to Catholic. But have never been to anything but a Catholic church. Don't think there is a set time for the sign of the cross unless you are receiving a blessing. What do you mean sections in heaven? I thought heaven was all Catholic. Just kidding. I'm sure there are no demoninations there. But I'll let you know when I get there. I'll probably get there sooner than you. (age wise).
Toni48 01-10-2005, 05:19 PM Just got back from an afternoon with a girlfriend. We had lunch together and a nice visit. I had a salad and a bowl of chili, so I was pleased with myself. I got in the mail a new cookbook, its a low carb crockpot book. Now I'm waiting on the George Stella cookbook I ordered. It should be here by the end of the week.
Fillise- I think thats sure a good way to eat. Good luck at the scale come Wednesday.
Gator- I agree the water is the hardest. Wait a minute its all hard for me. I might as well tell the truth. You've got lots of steps in.
Pancho- good luck on the working out. We're getting a storm in tomorrow to. Hope you still get to go out...
Monet- Wish I was eating at your house tonight, that all sounds good. Hope the burning stops.
ut oh have to go hubby is home....
THE BIG ORANGE BABE 01-10-2005, 06:38 PM EVENING EVERY BUDDY!!
I think that I've got everything back on track....
MONET...I did the recipe, and I've already heard back from Kimberly. This is a great idea, so we'll see. I sent yours to my Niece Cathy...She's got some good recipes, so I hope she sends you one of her masterpieces!
TECh...actually, the order is Presbyterian, Lutheran, Episcopalian, Catholic.
The only section I know about is the Catholic belief in Pergatory...other than that, I've been taught that HEAVEN is one big place where every person is ONE. I was raised in the First Christain Church, but I was organist at the first three churches listed above, so I learned a little about each one. Each was a break off from the Catholic Belief.
JACKIE...Hope that soup turned out for you and DH...Any new reports on the Baby?
TONI... I orderd the George Stella book too. I can't wait to get my greasy little fingers on it! I love to watch his show on Food TV..do you watch it?
I have the Dana Carpender Low Crockpot cookbook...is that the one you got?
Gotta run for now...I'll check in later
BOB
THE BIG ORANGE BABE 01-10-2005, 06:41 PM OH...TONI...did you konw that George has a website with a message board?
www.lowcarbcheifs.com
Check it out...
BOB
Toni48 01-10-2005, 06:44 PM Bob- Yep I watch George Stella too. I'm excited about the book to. Amazon shipped it today. The crockpot recipes are from Fix it and Forget it Lightly. by Phyllis Pellman Good. I just went to his web site yeasterday when I was hunting the book. Glad I got it at amazon though cause it was cheaper there. Thank you!
Teensybean 01-10-2005, 07:29 PM That was strange....I hit quick post and could not see anything that I was typing after the first line! I exited the site and tried it again with the same results. hmmmm.
Not much going on again today. We got some more snow this afternoon. Supposed to clear up and get really cold. Minus numbers by Thursday. I sure do hate to see it get this cold as I still have to take Buddy out on a leash. It is already very cold in the early mornings, especially at 4 am!!

dessert- 1/2 c sf jello.
I am feeling great being back in control of my eating!
Monet-- Thanks again for starting our board. We are very lucky to have you looking out for all of us. I got rid of what I could last week. Dh still has his homemade peanut brittle, almond roca, and fudge in here, but it didn't seem to be a problem this last week. I finished off the SF oameal cookies and everything else is out in the freezer in the shop! I am looking forward to this weeks exercise challenge.
Toni-- Saw your post on the exercise board. WTG!! One day can very easily slip into two, then three!!
Jack-k-- Prayers going out for your SIL's Sister. I put my red X's right up on the big calendar near the kitchen so I can see it before I get in there!! Hope to see you posting on the exercise board.
Kenj-- Hope you will be feeling better real soon. Eating is not a worry when you are sick, as long as you don't give yourself a license to eat only carbage!!
Fillise-- I have thought of eating that way too after talking to my Grandmother. She said lunch used to be the big meal for them, though it was dinner and then supper back then. Let me know how it works for you.
Gator-- I have been hearing about that book, let us know what you think.
Pancho-- Yes, the calendar thing seems to be working. Dh got into his stash of homemade candy yesterday and it didn't even bother me. I even got in an extra day of exercise!! I have red X's starting from Dec 31st. Hope to make it all month.
BOB--
Tech--
fruitloupe 01-10-2005, 07:50 PM Hello my friends!!
Hope all is well with all of you! This week is going to be a short one at school. We only have the kids Mon., Tues., & Wed. and then Thursday we have an inservice and Friday we have parent/teacher conferences. WOOHOO! Monday we are off for MLK day. I have SO much stuff to do that day around the house. I’ve got to finish with my closets and pack Mardi Gras beads – y’all have no idea how long that takes to do! Well, let me catch up on posts!!!
MONET: Thanks for the DEB report…I miss her! Last week I cleaned out most of my bad stuff. I still have a few things in the pantry that need to go but I’ll get to it sooner or later. It’s nothing that is tempting me. I’ve been drinking a lot of water each day and it’s killing me during the night. Every 2 hours like clockwork I have to pee – crazy! I don’t think I’ll get the exercise in this week but I will try.
TONI: Happy 17th anniversary!! We are working on #12!! That’s when we will be on our cruise in August.
JACK-K: Prayers are heading you way! That poor little baby – to be so small!! I hope all goes ok! Is there a reason why she delivered early?
KENG: Hope you are feeling better soon!!! Take care of yourself. Let us know how Jess enjoyed her classes.
FILLISE: I’m trying to eat my big meal at lunch too! That way, I don’t snack when I get home. I really don’t like to eat in between meals when I’m OP. I feel like I’m cheating. So, if I eat a big lunch – I can make it to supper!!
GATOR: Way to go on the steps!! I thought about you today when I was walking back and forth around school. I am thinking about getting a gadget like yours to see how much I actually walk around at school during the day.
PANCHO: GO GO GO!!! You can do it! You WILL eat right this week AND get your exercise in!! I have faith in you!! I hope you get to go to your Mom’s night out tomorrow!!
BOB: Glad you got your puter back on track! I don’t know what I would do without ya!
TECH: Gosh those people sound HORRID!! I can’t believe that lady is so rude to you! Shame on her! I don’t blame you one bit for changing churches. Is there another Methodist church in the area – instead of switching religions totally? We are Catholic – most people from our area are and I quit going to church because I think that they are all money hungry. They pass that basket in church 2 or 3 times…well…if I didn’t give the first time the basket went around I’m not going to give the next time!! Also, it was beginning to be a fashion show – who could be the best dressed in town. Let us know how things are going with the new church.
TEENSY: We should be getting some cold weather here by the weekend – I can’t wait!!
Well, let me run – I’ve got work to do!!
Missy
GatorGal 01-10-2005, 11:25 PM Hi everyone. I got back from my class about 9 p.m. and my DH and I took a walk around the neighborhood. In all, total steps today = 10679. My mentoree came over this afternoon and we finished all the final corrections on her paper and she turns it in tomorrow. Now we will be working on her essay for her scholarship application.
Food for lunch = large lettuce salad, with ham, cottage cheese, orange segments, lettuce, .5 oz. walnuts, and lo cal dressing.
Dinner = at thai restaurant--one spring roll, beef with broccoli and some rice. :(
My DH and I split the entree.
If anyone is interested in getting a pedometer, here is a website that gives some information about some pedometers, and you can even buy them here. I've got this particular type, and have had very good results with it. I've had it over 5 years and have had to put a new battery in it only one time. I use a rubber band looped through the clip and fasten the rubber band to my waistband with a safety pin. That way I did not have to buy a safety strap, and I never worry about losing my pedometer or having it fall off. The rubberband/safety pin safety strap has saved my from losing my little pedometer several times. Go here

Gotta go. Bed time.
Ellen 01-11-2005, 08:53 AM Good morning! I got in fairly early last night, but I was just too tired to get on here! I checked emails and went right to bed. The dinner went well, and they cleaned it all up! There was nothing left over! We have been averaging about 25 to 30 but last night there were over 40 there. A number of them came up and enthused on the fact that I was back and cooking, as this was the first time I did it since before my surgery! I did fairly well, though I did eat a small piece of the cake. I scraped off the icing first though. (though I had stuck my finger in the bowl while I was icing the cake...) I had too many starches, but they were all legal ones except the cake.
TECH: The Episcopal church is essentially the Church of England. It is closely related to the Catholic church, as it was started by Henry VIII when the Pope would not allow him to divorce one of his wives. The Lutheran church has a similar liturgy, but is considered Protestant, as is the Methodist church, started by John Wesley. Each one has fundamental differences in what they believe, but the the basics, of following Jesus, and his being the savior, are the same. I am a Presbyterian...started by John Calvin....what I like about it is that we believe in five points of Calvinism- predestination, and we baptize infants. I am not certain, but I do believe Episcopalians have a confirmation for kids around the age of 12 or so. As for being out of step with the sign of the cross and such, don't worry about that. Eventually, you will be familiar enough with the liturgy to keep up! Go to church where you are comfortable and feel like you can worship. It is afterall, supposed to be a worship service! :)
FRUIT: I got my pedometer, an Omron, at Wal Mart. I found it in the sporting goods department. It was about $10, and I like it a lot. Its not as good as Gator's but it does the job. I think it would be really good for you to get one and wear it at school. I find it very motivating to wear mine.
TEENSY: I really like your red X idea. I am going to try that. Maybe today I can put my first one on the calendar! I have a big one on the side of the fridge with the boxes that are like two inches square for each day...it will be a big motivator! Stay warm! Its going to get colder here by the end of the week and all my crocuses and daffodils are up! It will probably ruin the peach crop this year...or something!
GATOR: I hope your mentoree gets a good grade on her paper! Do you like Thai food? Sometimes I find it a little on the hot side, but I enjoy it! I have some great recipes...Penang Curry is one. Its pretty easy and I can get the Keffir lime leaves at Harry's Whole Foods, which just makes the dish! You are such a great cook, I bet you have done some Thai...
TONI: I love getting a new cookbook! Dana Carpender has a new one out, and a slow cooker one either coming out or newly released. I love her books! They are low carb, but very adaptable to SB, and her recipes are very creative!
BOB: Glad you sent out the recipe! Thanks! I got an email from a friend kind of complaining...and snide. That tends to be her nature though, so I did not let it bother me. I thought it was cute..and easy!
I am off to find some coffee!
Solly 01-11-2005, 09:52 AM Good Tuesday Morning Ladies,
It feels good to report that I had 1 totally legal day and my first day of exercise of Monet's challenge behind me. Even stayed onthe TM a little longer. I have my pedometer on and walking away. Bad thing is I left my lunch on the table this morning. I was really looking forward to it too. Maybe DH will go by the house and see it and bring it to me. Oh well I have a Amy's pizza in the freezer and some yogurt.
BF; strawberries at home and will have some yogurt or half a bagel (ww).
Lunch will be pizza or may go somewhere and get a salad.
Dinner: veggie soup.
Our bunco club is going to Bravos tomorrow night for our Christmas dinner. I need to get onthe website and see if I can find something legal there to eat. It's italian. I have had their chicken marsala but it comes with mashed potatoes. I don't think they have mixed veggies or anything like that.
Toni, don't you just feel so good about yourself when you stay legal and get that exercise in? Wonder why that dosen't keep us from cheating? Let us know if you find something good in the lowcarb crockpot cookbook. I love to cook things in the crockpot.
Bob, no change in the baby. Guess that is good news. The mom will get to go home Wed and then be on bedrest for 6 weeks. I don't know if that means she can't go to the hospital to see the baby. They need the bonding right now.
Teensy, It is warm here today and Thursday it's going to be 10. No wonder everyone gets sick. I like how it is now. WTG on all those red X's. Wish I had that many. Maybe my pants wouldn't be so tight today
Missy, you ought to get a pedometere. I bet you walk bunches around that school. Kucky you having a short week and a holiday on Monday. The mom's blook pressure was really high so she had been in the hospital since Christmas. Her liver was enlarged and ready to rupture.
Gator, I think I got my pedometer all set. Just not sure if it is working correctly. It is supposed to be a good one. Takes your pulse and does about 4 other functions. So far it says I have 556 steps. Doesn't seem like I've walked that much today since it's only 8:30. If I walk up the hall and count my steps, that should be what adds on the pedometer right? Just want to check it out. Good idea sharing an entree. Wouldn't work for me. My DH would eat his own and then half of mine.
Monet, I think you should try the calendar and red X's. it really is a good motivator. I was excited when I could put a big red X and a big yellow E for exercise on mine today. I bet those people were excited to see you cooking again. Heck you feed the flocks and you are the bestest of cooks.
Guess I'll get busy here. Be bak later. Have a great OP day.
GatorGal 01-11-2005, 10:01 AM Monet--Actually, I was mistaken. It was a Vietnamese restaurant, not a Thai. I love Thai food, and just had a brain cramp when I was typing. I knew it was food from somewhere in the far east. My DH and I, and another man all meet on Monday nights for supper as we all have the same class, although the men go to a men's class and I go to a women's. The restaurant we used to meet at was halfway between our classes, and easy for me to get to. It was Greek and inexpensive. It closed, so we are still looking for a good, inexpensive restaurant that is convenient for us all. The Vietnamese restaurant is cheap, but the verdict is still out on the convenience.
My DH and I walked this morning, first thing. So far, 6000 steps. I begin my French class at the university today, so it will not be hard to get over 10000 steps today. I have a little bit a walking on campus to get to class.
Breakfast: 1 scrambled egg in 1 tsp oil; 1/2 grapefruit, wheat chex with strawberries and sk. milk.
I'll let you all know how my mentoree does on her paper.

kengjw 01-11-2005, 11:26 AM Good morning ladies....
I have missed catching up with everyone, I know I am way behind but I read all the posts. I am so happy that everyone is doing so well....WTG!!!
Jess had a blast in her class. She had no idea where we were taking her so when she get there, we told her "surprise!!!" She loves meeting new friends so she was happy. The teacher was nice too. Dh and I even managed to join her for the last 15 mins with a little singing and dancing. I think I am getting a little too old for spinning around....lol. While we were there, I managed to find out about their preschool programs at the church where her classes were held. The preschool kid looked like they were having so much fun so we decided to check it out. Jess will start Pre-K this fall so I am really getting active in finding her the right school.
As far as my dr's appointment, it was cancelled. The nurse said that there was no point for me to see them as they don't take my case. They did refer me to another dr and also asked me to call around to find other drs. No, I do not have serious illness infact I might be pregnant. That explains why I have been feeling slightly yucky, bloated and tired. I have done 2 home tests and they came out positive. I was not planning to say anything to anyone until I went to see a OBGYN but I haven't find one yet. My previous OBGYN is in downtown Atlanta and I am not going to go there unless I have to so he is out! I am very excited with this news and yet fears are pouring in....mostly fears about morning sickness which had tramatized me pretty bad the last time. I remember not being able to go anywhere but laid on the bed day in and day out feeling like I had the worst dizziness, nausea, headache etc. Thank God, it went away at 12 weeks but my memories of it never really go away...LOL. This time, I am worried more since I have Jess with me and not being able to take care of her scares me. So, I am going to make some preparations hoping that would helps a little incase I have the morning sickness again. First, I need to make some meals and freeze them up so dd gets to eat when I can't cook. Secondly, I would ask my neighbors to come play with her once in a while when I can't. I know dh will be here but when he is at work, there is really no one here but me. Thirdly, I need to get my house in a clean state so when I can't clean, the house won't look too filty. Honestly, I am still in shock over this news since it took me one year to conceive Jess but this time, it took way less time. I can't wait to see a OBGYN and find out if the little one is fine :)
I better go since I have some energy now and need to use them to do some cleaning. Sorry I can't do replies again but will definitely check in often.
Julia
techwife 01-11-2005, 11:39 AM Hi everyone! Thanks for the thoughts on church. I've always liked the Methodist and Lutheran churches I"ve gone to because they seem a bit more casual and both of my kids were baptised in Methodist churches and I was married in the Methodist church, so it makes me feel bad to switch...but the change sort of comes at an interesting time because I've been more interested in a more formal church-going experience anyhow, with current world events happening, I'm happy to have communion every Sunday and being able to light a candle, etc...and the Episcopal Church seems to give me that...
Anyhow...I cheated last night and had illegal pizza. :( Shelley has skating on Monday nights at 5:15 and we have to leave at 4:45, too early for dinner before for us and we don't get home until 6:30 and then its so late, I hate cooking dinner then. So, I stop to pick up pizza a lot on Mondays. Skating's over in March, so then I won't have THAT to deal with...sheesh!
In other news, on don't know if you guys know that I'm the local Girl Scout leader and we have a council wide overnight party on Saturday night. I went last year, but didn't stay overnight..it's spearheaded by a different leader from a nearby town...but you can imagine the noise from three levels of girl scouts from about six different towns...at least fifty screaming girls ages 6-12 watching movies, playing karoake, running full steam ahead, doing crafts, all in their jammies and eating pizza and ice cream. Not enough Advil in the world!! But it's great fun for the girls and before I know it, Shelley will be off to college and I'll have these fun memories to keep me company when she's gone.
I'll get to replies later...I have to go tend to the little one...he's been watching way too much TV today...
Bye, guys!! Kris
Fillise 01-11-2005, 12:54 PM Morning Everyone!
I was up and out early this morning as classes began at the University today. I'm teaching one course this semester at 8am--so on Tuesdays and Thursdays I'll be out of the house early. I had breakfast at the school cafateria--1/2 grapefruit, sceambled eggs, slices of bacon and coffee. I'm hungry now so I'll have a yogurt in a minute. I'm having a small steak and steamed artichoke for lunch, then soup and salad for supper. The scale hasnt moved yet, but I do get through the afternoons better.
Julia--WOW! I know that has to be scary and exciting at the same time! The MS might not be as bad th second time (and might not be as bad if you are eating op--course if all you can stand for a while is saltines and ginger ale, then so be it). Let us know when you know for sure!
Jackie--WTG--I like wearing the pedometer too! Don't you just hate it when you take the time to prepare lunch and then forget it???????
Gator--How is the book on the french ladies? I saw the author on the Today show yesterday--Katie was tres skeptical! Me too, but it does make some sense.
Monet--I bet the folks WERE glad to have you back cooking for them, but if it temps you, I think you might want to find someone else to do it. I love my church--but they are the BIGGEST obstacle to staying OP!
Kris--Brave woman with all those little girl scouts!!!! You will have to deal with the cookies soon too---gosh I LOVE those things--so hard to turn down!
BOB--Did you get your email straightened out? How old is your computer? I think with older ones you might have to purchase a card, but my new one came ready to go so all I had to do was plus the modem in and go. The one before that--it was so old (4 years) it wouldn't do it.
Missy--How many beads do you have to pack?????
Uh-Oh--got to go. Will talk to you later!
Susan
Ellen 01-11-2005, 01:06 PM Well, I have accomplished very little this morning. I had kind of planned to go to Curves, but I just don't feel ready to do that this morning. I went to the store and got frozen ravioli and bottled sauce for the small group's dinner tonight. I also got ground beef and turkey Italian sausage. The group is full of picky eaters, so sometimes, its a chore to fix for them. One guy will not eat pork or shellfish, as they are not 'clean' according to the Old Testament. Another guy dislikes almost anything green, but will eat green beans. Another guy will not eat any vegetable but broccoli. Tom wants low carb stuff that is ok on SB. I have to pay for all this stuff.... Usually, its all fine and dandy, but some days, I am assuming they would be PMS days if I still knew where I was in my cycle, I just don't want to deal with it all. Today is one of those days. I hope no one whines. They may get a pot of tomato sauce poured over their head! Anyway, I am going to make a salad, and some garlic whole wheat rolls to go with the ravioli. I hope its good! I had a coupon for $1 off a package of ravioli too.... :) It certainly made it attractive to me!
KENG: How exciting! I hope and pray you feel well. I know your fears...I was horribly sick for nine months with each of my pregnancies. The only thing that helped was to remind myself that being sick like that is a sign of good strong hormones. It did not help much...but it put my mind at ease. :) I wish I knew some doctors in your area, but I don't. Mine uses DeKalb General, in Decatur. Its just off 285, but still not convenient for you. My three kids were born at the Douglasville Birthing Center...I don't know if it is even still there. It was a long drive for us, as we lived in Norcross at the time, but it was the only doctor in the Atlanta area I would consider as he used nurse midwifes. I hope you can find someone you can love...it is so important for a OB/GYN. :)
GATOR: I like Vietnamese too. Their spring rolls and the nuc cham sauce are the best! I make them a lot..and no matter how many I make, my kids eat them all! A guy my husband works with has family who just opened up a Vietnamese noodle restaurant near us. The food is really good...they call it "What the Pho?" !
TECH: Do you have a crockpot? Maybe Mondays would be a good day to use it if you do. Then dinner is all ready when you get home from skating and you don't have to cave and have pizza. Just an idea.....
JACK: Can you call your hubby and ask him to bring your lunch? Hopefully, you can carry it tomorrow if he doesn't bring it to you. I tend to be forgetful like that a lot. I got half way to the bank once, and realized I had forgotten the deposit on the table at home!
SEBRAY, SEF, COUNTRY: Are you lurking, maybe? You are missed....
THE BIG ORANGE BABE 01-11-2005, 02:14 PM AFTERNOON EVERY BUDDY!
I was up until 5a.m. again this morning! Don't know what the problem is, unless it's like JACKIE said abou the pain meds and they can get you wirey! I slept until 11:30!!!!! Not good as I have to take Kate to the Doc today...She either has anothe blood clot or another blood infection..either way, she will probably have to do a two week run of daily IV antibiotics...
MONET....I understand your friends logic about the pork, but people back during Bible times ate a LOT of FISH...so I'm confused about the shellfish.
Whatever you fix, I'm sure it will be good!
SUSAN...my hard drive is only a year old so I don't understand. Came with XP and that's the latest program...
JULIA...is this a good thing?
TECH...My Mom was the area leader when I was growing up...she's had to do all that stuff...it was quite different back in the early 60's ....believe me!
GATOR...I WON'T EAT AT ONE OF THOSE PLACES!!! TOO AFRAID OF DOG!!!! being served...
JACKIE...I agree about the bonding, but I think the MOM's are allowed to visit.
She would be brought in a wheelchair until she can get around without fear of
post surgical blood clots...Still praying for them...what hospital is the baby in?
Well, I've got to get hopping...litterally....and get Kate started toward the door. Thank GAWD we don't have to travel far...our Doc is only 5 min away!
BOB
Pancho 01-11-2005, 02:44 PM Good afternoon everyone:
I am waiting for my lunch to be ready, so thought I'd check in. I didn't eat too great yesterday, but I did get to the gym and got a good workout in. The scale actually said 124# this morning; I haven't seen that in a long time...I'm sure I am holding fluid or something....or maybe all the bad eating is catching up to me. I guess it is time to get ultra serious again, or it will keep going up and I have worked far too hard to let that happen. I do have my Mom's Night Out tonight and I know it will be a potluck, so I hope to do o.k. there. So far today, I have done well. BF was legal cereal w/ blueberries & skim milk, Lunch is a bean and rice bowl, I also had some multi-grain pita chips w/ Laughing Cow Lite cheese(2 wedges)...oh, and a little chunk of 77% chocolate.
Ken: Congrats on the great news!! I am sure everything will work out great...you are young, healthy, and you have an ideal diet. Jess will be excited to have a little brother or sister. Take care of yourself, and I hope you find an ob/gyn that you really like and trust!
OOOOPs, there goes the timer for my lunch....I hope to check in again tomorrow; the rest of today will be too busy!
Hello to all of you I missed!!!
Take care,
Nat
CountryMom4Him 01-11-2005, 04:19 PM I've been a bad girl. :) Not only have I not been posting I haven't been to the board. I thought I could overlook the weight gain but it has had a major effect on my self esteem. I've felt like a major loser lately and have been trying to put it all in perspective. Still around 161. Eating hasn't been the greatest but walking has been awesome. I do have some good news though....I'm gonna be a grandma! :)
I've truly missed chatting with ya'll.
Congratulations Julia! ((hugzz))
Thanks for not forgetting me Monet. Sorry your tummy is not feeling well.
The kids are starving so I'd better get.
Love and hugs,
Crystle
GatorGal 01-11-2005, 05:27 PM Country--welcome back. We've missed you. Just hop back on the wagon. It's a new day so you can do it!
BOB--In Vietnam you might have to worry about dog, but I don't think here that is a problem. Anyway, tastes like chicken!! :)
Susan--I don't have the book on how French women eat--I just read a big article about it in USAToday and saw a show on it on TV. The book got rave reviews by the diet gurus, but I figure I know how to eat. The problem is just doing it. Basically, it is to enjoy your food, at a leisurely pace. And not to eat too much, but just have a small meal, such as one might be served at a snooty French restaurant. Remember when people would complain about the portions being too small at French restaurants? Eat like that and not like all-you-can-eat restaurants. French women walk a ton, so she said that was something that was really good to do. I can vouch for that, at least in Paris. You wouldn't believe how much one has to walk, even with the Metro (subway). Just to change from one line to another, underground, one can walk 5 minutes or so, usually up and down stairs. I easily got 15000 steps in a day. For me, that's 6 miles. She pointed out that French women don't go to the gym or like to exercise, but that walking is just part of the daily life. She also said that they don't worry about fat-free foods, carbs, sugars, etc. They have a glass of wine with meals, they like desserts, and they don't worry about what they can't eat. I can say that the woman in the home I stayed in last summer ate everything, and she was THIN. She ate plenty of veggies and salad, but she also had bread (baguette, white bread!), wine, and dessert. She just had SOME, not a lot, and she usually didn't have seconds. The book also said that French women don't snack. Bottom line, it looks to me, is that one would get lots more walking and eat less calories by eating less food, but enjoying the food you eat more. She also emphasized H2O! Drink plenty of it, she said.
My first class was today, and it looks like it is going to be a good one. The prof is very active, walking around and talking fast. He was barefoot. Someone told me that he usually has LONG hair, but today it was short. I visited the prof I had for my former classes and she told me I should also be taking French literature survey. It is Mon, Wed. and Fri, and requires a ton of reading I understand. So I will save that course for another time. Two days a week is plenty for me to make the 40 min. drive to the university.
I have 9600 steps, so probably will walk around the neighborhood tonight with my DH. I had lunch about 2 p. m. I was starving and had only had an apple for a snack. All the food places on campus seem to be fast food places, so I opted to try to find somewhere off campus where I could get something healthy to eat. I chose Panera Bread, where I could get a salad and some soup. When I got in, none of their soups sounded good, so I got 1/2 tuna sandwich on 7 grain bread, and a salad. I forgot to order the dressing on the side. The tuna was too mayonaisy, and the salad dressing was sooooo sweet. So, all in all, it was not a satisfying lunch as far as taste was concerned. I will probably not go back to that place and will just have to take a sandwich in a small cooler in the future. Just goes to show you the state of food in the USA--too greasy or fatty and too sweet. No wonder we have trouble with our weight.
Keng--Congratulations on the positive tests. I hope you have less problems with M.S. this time. That's a good idea to prepare food and also your house in case you are "out of commission" for a while.
Well, I think I will go study. We have homework for class this Thursday.

Teensybean 01-11-2005, 05:43 PM Afternoon ladies,
I have to tell you, I am so proud of myself. Dh wanted some more oatmeal raisin cookies, so I made them. I didn't even lick my fingers!! How bout that?? Seems those little red X's are doing the trick. MOVITATION!! Sure hope to see some good numbers tomorrow for WIW.
I went out and shoveled out an area to feed the deer this morning. I see that they had been here last night and I didn't have any apples out because of the deep snow under the tree. So I dug my boots out and shoveled. I brought in a sack of apples and will cut them up and put them out when I take Buddy out for his last potty break tonight. I feel bad that I didn't have anything for them. When there is deep snow is when they need to be fed. It is pretty hard for them to browse when everything is covered in snow.
B-- 1/2 grapefruit 1/2 hour before...
1 venison link, 1/2 c Fiber One, 1/4 c ff milk, 1 splenda, 1 tsp cinnamon, Lite 85 yogurt
snack--apple
L-- leftover salmon, 1/2 c spaghetti squash, red pepper strips.
snack-- orange
Dinner will be the last of the pot roast with carrots and 1/2 c spaghetti squash. 1/2 c sf pudding with lite whipped cream.
My spaghetti squashes this year were huge, so when I cook one I eat on it for along time, LOl. Sure glad I love this stuff.
Okay, on to some replies......
Fruit--Short week for the kids, but not for you huh? My youngest sister is a teacher in Elko Nevada. She loves it. Gets the summer and spring and winter breaks off with her kids. I don't think your cold is going to be any match for ours. I envy all you southern gals in the winter time. I really am a summer gal. I like it about 85 degrees.
Monet-- Wow, 40 people, that is a great turn out! My calendar is looking great......and I feel like I am back!! It is going to be soooo cold by the end of the week, though I don't think it is going to get as cold as it did last year. It was minus 23 degrees last year. I know I am going out to the shop in a few minutes to see what I need to get out of the refrigerator. Remember last year? It got so cold that it quit working and all apples and eggs froze!! Not going to let that happen this year, lol.
Jackie-- Your calendar will soon look like mine. It is amazing how such a small thing can really motivate, but it sure seems to have worked for me. I guess I just need the visual......to let me know I am making progress. Was great to see your post on the exercise board.
Keng-- I am so glad that Jess enjoyed her class. I remember taking dancing lessons as a child, I loved them. Congrats to you and the new one!! Sounds like you have alot to get ready at a time when you need to get some rest. I remember being so tired with both of my boys in the early months. I was lucky though, I never had MS with either one. Take care of you, and do only what you have to. Jess will be thrilled to have a brother or sister.
Tech-- The main thing after eating something illegal is too get right back OP. If you can do that, you shouldn't have a problem as long as the bad choices are not everyday as mine were getting. But I am back!! Enjoy your GS outing.....it really sounds like fun to me!!
Fillise-- Wow teaching at the University?? I may have to try your strategy and eat my bigger meal in the afternoon.
BOB-- My dh says that some of his pain meds keep him up at night. They always worked the opposite on me.....knocked me right out.
Country-- Please don't feel so down on yourself. I gained this holiday season as did a few others. We can all do this together. Now is when you need us the most, as we need you!!
See you all tonight, maybe.......I haven't been getting on here as much at night. Trying to get as much sleep as I can before Buddy has to get up and go out.
Solly 01-11-2005, 05:44 PM That was odd said I wasn't logged in. Did it like I always do. Oh well. Just a quickie, got to go get my nails done. They are nasty.
Plan to get my treadmill in tonight and some wt too.
I'm disappointed with my steps. Only 1842 so far. Will wait until I get my Tm done and see what it says then.
Gator, I only have 1842 steps so far. I sure thought I moved more than that. Susan is teaching classes, you are taking classes, boy I feel uneducated.
Julia, what exciting news! Congratulations. When you find a gyn ask about taking Zofran. It is a anit-neasua medicine which is safe for pregnant women. I took it somewith the chemo and my DD takes it when she is just sick. The girl as work at bad morning sickness and she finally asked her dr about it and she said it was fine, in fact she was taking it and she was also pregnant. Might help just in case.
Kris, whoa, too many young girls for me in one group. My girls were Girl Scouts and loved it. But then again, I was not the leader. haha. I did help out a lot and it was fun. How about making a pot of soup or chili for monday nights.
Susan, back to the old grind. Are you a fun tacher. My DD complains about most of the prefessors. Very bland.
Monet, it must be hard to try to fix all those different things. I tink I would grin and bear it if someone was cooking for me like you do. My DH didn't bring my lunch to me, but I had an Amy's frozen pizza here so I ate part of that. Oh well, now I don't have to fix my lunch for tomorrow.
Bob, what did you find out about Kate. Hope it is nothing serious. The mom is at Norton's and baby at Kosair. Where I would want to be in this situation. Being off has probably got your sleep out of whack. Maybe try a regular routine.
Nat, I hope it is fluid. Don't let those number get out of hand (like I did)
Country, so glad you are back on here. Now stay put or I will have to come get you. You can do this. Come on, we made a deal to get to gaol and I'm waiting on you. You are still below me so now you can't feel that bad. Congrats on the new grandbaby. I want one so badly. I'm jealous.
Got to run. See you tomorrow. have a great night.
kengjw 01-11-2005, 06:15 PM I am supposed to sweep the floor but just don't have the mood to do so. Jess is watching her show so I thought I will check in and do some replies.
MONET : Well, since you are the chef/host, you cook whatever you like. If someone don't like it, then they should bring their own food. I cannot imagine feeding so many people with different eating habits, that would drive me nuts! Where did you get the ww rolls? My mother was sicked the whole 9 months as well for 6 of us and she never told me until I was pregnant with Jess. That scared me so much because I can never imagine being sicked for so long. She certainly have more respect from me. So, salute to you Monet, I think having 3 kids with 9 month MS is really really brave. I think one of the reasons that I waited almost 4 years to have another one is because I wasn't sure I was ready to deal with my fear of MS....lol. I might call a friend to ask her for some recommendation of OBGYN since she used to work with some drs.
GATOR : I love any asian food, well all kind of crusine actually :) I believe I have 3 times of Vietnamese food so far and loved it!
BOB : Yes, my pregnancy is definitely a good news but I am still shocked...lol. Sorry to hear Kate is still not well, hope this trip to the dr will help her get back to good health.
PANCHO : I am sure it's just some fluid you retained. Enjoy your night out with the moms :) Oh yes, Jess is more than thrilled to have a sister/brother, she is planning everything in her head on what to do with him/her. She said she has to keep her playdoh away so the baby won't eat it...lol. She even want to get the baby some clothes etc etc. She kept thanking me for having a baby...and said she cannot wait to see him/her. I wasn't planning on telling her yet since it is too early but somehow I got too excited and wanted to know what she thinks of the idea of having a bro/sis. I didn't expect her over-positive response and she even said that I should go see a dr. Well...finally she asked me, how did the baby get in there...LOL. Okay...I knew that was coming...lol.
COUNTRY : I have missed your posts. Let me remind you that no one is perfect and without mistakes. That means that we will make mistakes, lots of them, we will be submitted to temptations etc etc. I learn to acknowledge that a while back and that's helps me deal with the mistakes I did. I know I can't use that as an excuse either but when I really do slip, I try very hard not to beat myself up anymore. I always wonder why God loves me but I don't question that anymore. The good news is, no matter what you do, He always loves you :) And we loves you whether you have been legal or not :)
HEART : Are you move into your new house yet?
I know I missed many of you but will catch up as time goes :)
Julia
Toni48 01-11-2005, 06:16 PM Just got back from my Cardio appointment. Its been an all day trip. We got up a 4 this morning. And its a 3 1/2 hour drive one way. I sure am beat. My doctor thinks I have a blockage in my legs. He wants me to go into the hospital and have a dye test. That means overnight. The nurse will call me when she has it all set up. Sure am dreading this. Eating has been good. We ate this morning at Bob Evans restarant. They have a light breakfast that is egg beaters, a light sausage, a fruit cup and whole wheat toast. ( I didn't eat the toast cause I don't think it was 100 % whole grain. Tonight we're having a roasted chicken and salad. Be back tomorrow..... Oh yea congrads. Julia!!!
Ellen 01-11-2005, 07:13 PM KENG: I made the ww rolls. I have found some ww hamburger rolls and hot dog buns at Super (yucky) Wal Mart. They are Cobblestone Mill brand, in case you want to look for them!
Dinner is ravioli tonight..and salad and ww garlic rolls. Lunch was two scrambed eggs with cheese. I don't eat well when I am so busy.....
Later!
fruitloupe 01-11-2005, 10:43 PM Hello friends!
I’m just getting around to the computer tonight. We went out for pizza. A pizza joint here has the WW crust and it is delicious!! So, that’s where I’ve been. When I got home, I had to do some schoolwork too.
Ok – now I’m going to give y’all TOO MUCH INFORMATION! I woke up this morning and the top part of my butt crack was burning! :yikes: LOL! Come to find out the skin split!! What can cause this? Was my butt dry and then cracked like chapped lips?! So, I look for my gold bond powder – can’t find it. I find Gold Bond cream and rub it all in there and next thing you know….FIRE!!! :hot: woohoo! Then it would get ICE cold! My poor crack didn’t know what to do! So, when I got to school I had to take it off and wait to get some GB powder after school! So, now I’m clean, the crack is clean and I have some cool GB powder in there….how’s that for a good day and too much information!! Sorry to share that if it offended you but nothing else really happened to me today!! LOL!!!
Let me catch up on posts now that you all know about my poor crack!
GATOR: I’ll check out your website.
MONET: I’m sure your meal was delish being that there were no leftovers!! YUM! I’ll check out that pedometer at Wal-Mart too! Thanks for the info.!
JACK-K: WTG on the 1 legal day and the exercise!! I hate when I fix my lunch and then forget it at home! Is that pizza that is in the freezer legal? If so, let me know the name and where I can get it! I would love to have some frozen legal pizzas! There is a Bravo in New Orleans but I’ve never eaten there. We actually gave my dad & step-mom a gift certificate to that place for Christmas!
KENG: OH MY! What wonderful news! Hopefully you won’t be that sick this time. But, even if you are – consider yourself lucky! I would KILL to be that sick and having a baby! I’ve had 6 miscarriages and now we are going through the adoption process. So, hopefully soon we will have a little one too! I’ll be sending good thoughts your way in hopes that all is going well with the little one!!!
TECH: I don’t think I could handle that many girls all at once!! I have 13 in my class that drive me crazy every day! Also, little girls can be so mean and LOUD!! LOL! They gang up on each other – it’s pitiful! I’m glad it’s you and not me….I know your daughter will cherish all of those moments though. You are a great mom!
FILLISE: Beads – THOUSANDS!! I ride with over 120 gross of beads every year and I have to pack it all up! I count out the beads in sets of 12 and then staple paper strips on them. Then I put 12 doz. In a zip lock bag and seal it up!. The longer beads don’t fit 12 dozen in a bag so I put as much as I can. We keep them in zip locks because we have to load the float the day before we ride and if it rains and our stuff gets all wet – the beads won’t get wet and messed up. I put all of the bags in crawfish sacks. I usually get on the float with 22-24 sacks of beads and crap! It’s a lot of stuff. I’ll have to post a picture of what the float looks like before we ride. Last year I took a picture of the float next to us while we were waiting to roll. There was a lady just laying down on all of her stuff cause you don’t have room to move!! I’ll find that and post it soon! :joker:
BOB: Hope all is well with Kate! Pain meds don’t do much for me other than constipate me! HAH! Lortab, vicodin, etc. don’t even work. I have to take Demerol products! Then – those knock me out!
COUNTRY: Congrats Grandma!!! LOL! You don’t look old enough to be a grandma! Come back soon we miss you!
TEENSY: WTG on not licking the fingers!! You go girl! That is SO hard to do when you are baking. :cookie: You are so sweet to go out there and care for the deer! Do you ever get to pet them?
TONI: You go get that checked out! You don’t want to mess around with blockages! Keep us posted on everything!
Well, I guess I will head to bed! I’ll see you tomorrow!
Missy
groovia 01-11-2005, 11:03 PM Hi there. I'm back after a year and a half. I posted on the board in summer of '03. Had a jaunt with Atkins and am still the same dang weight as I was in summer '03.
I remember most of you all and it seems that a lot of you have lost a heck of a lot since I last visited.
I'm still pretty unsure about my eating thus far. I've been on SB again for a little more than a week, and I think maybe I've lost about a pound. But, 1 pound is so ambiguous. It could be water weight. So, until I see any loss, I will continue to be reluctant to trust myself with menu planning.
So far, I've been eating a cheese omelet with 2 eggs and 3 sausage links for breakfast. Fruit and salad with regular ranch dressing for lunch and either salad or turkey burgers with WW bread for dinner. My big indulgence is No Sugar Added Breyer's Rocky Road float with Diet root beer. It has 4g of sugar per serving. I know that's bad. But I've reached the end of that carton, so I shan't be buying anymore. Well, for awhile, anyway.
So, hello again, and I'm glad to be back.
Kelly
Ellen 01-11-2005, 11:50 PM GROOVIA: Welcome back! I remember you! Its good to see you! This time, I bet you reach that goal, and feel great in the process! SB is so healthy! I like Atkins, but I can't lose on it. Something about my chemistry needs more carbs to fuel my thyroid.
FRUIT: That is a heck of a lot of beads you ride with!
TONI: I am sorry your cardio appt. was not all good. I hope and pray the procedure goes well, and they can clear up any blockage easily. Its great you are back on program. Eating healthy can only help!
If I missed replying to you, forgive me. My back is killing me, and I am exhausted. After dinner, the small group played instead of having a Bible study. One of the fellas brought a game called Apples to Apples. It was a blast! I did not want to stop playing, but he had to work at 6am, so they left! He left the game for us to play, so I need to find some people to get to come over and play. Its a riot! I think I may want to find a game of it for my own.
Good night all! Sweet dreams!
Toni48 01-12-2005, 09:32 AM Good morning. I'm so excited, I lost 2 lbs. this week. Yippee!!! Hooray!! (Danceing wildly around the floor). Guess you can tell I'm pleased. Well I'm setting here having a cup of coffee. I can't eat because I'm going to have blood work today and so have to wait till thats over. Its our last nice day here in Missouri a cold front is moving in tonight. I'm really dreading bad weather.
groovia- Welcome back to SB and the board. Wishing you well... Its good to see you posting again.
Monet- It sounds like you had such a nice party. You're a sweetheart trying to feed all those guests with stuff they like. What a chore that is.
Fruitloupe- Oh my gosh a pizza place with ww crust. How lucky that is. I would be there often!!!
Julia- I'm so excited for you. And sure hope you don't have allot of morning sickness with this one..
Jack-K- Thats allot of steps. Even if you're disappointed I think its so great. You rock!!!
Teensy- Good for you passing on cookie dough. Wow and oatmeal is my favorite.... I might have to try the red x's. Its so nice of you to feed the deer. My dog barks and keeps them away from our property. I wish she wouldn't but she does. We saw three beautiful does on our way home from the doctors yesterday. And shame on them they were playing in the road...
Gatorgal- I would love to read the book on how the french woman stay slim. I listened to the report on it too. Thanks for writing about it.
CountryMom- Woopie its good to see you back and posting! Just where you ought to be! I missed ya...
Pancho- Hope your potluck went well and you had a blast....
Bob- I hope the doctor's app. went well for Kate. I'm saying a little prayer for her...
Well guess I'll get off here, I think I'm caught up.... Happy Day all....
Solly 01-12-2005, 09:50 AM Happy WIW
Hope the scale is great to everyone today. I was up 3 pounds. But back on the straight and narrow and will see a difference next week.
Got in my mile & 1/4 on the TM last night and some floor exercises and some wt training. 2 days of the 3 day challenge. Now to post on the exercise board.
Toni, I hate to hear you might have a blockage. Can't they do an ultrasound on your legs. They did that when they thought I might have a clot. Maybe a blockage is different. Hoping everythign works out ok. WTG on being so good at Bob Evans. That is tough.Ben on the TM anymore? :cheer: WTG on the 2 lbs. You deserve it. It is 70 here today and the high will be 40 tomorrow with a low of 10. Go figure.
Ken, that is so neat that Jess is excited about the baby. She will probably drive you nuts for 8 months though with questions. Keep a positive mid that you won't have MS and maybe you will be alright.
Missy, I'm  about your crack. Ever heard of washing it daily???????You crack (no pun intended) me up! They pizza was legal. It was Amy's I found it at whole foods. There are about 10 different crusts. This was was ww cheese and pesto or tomatoe soemthing. The crust is great. It is too big for 1 person though. I also bought the Atkins pizzas. I think they are legal too and are perffect for one person. Some Groceries carry the Amy's but not many of the different crusts. I just can't find them at the store anymore. I have a plastic cup that was thrown from a float when we were there before and everything I use it I think of you. Now every time I wash my crack, I'm going to think o fyou :fr:
Teensy, WTG girl on the cookies. I'm proud of you. Di you chew gum. that always works for me. How sweet to take care of the deer.
Groovia, Welcome back. Funny how we all end up coming back. Hoping this is the time you will loose that wt for good.
Monet, what kind of game was it? Cards? Hope your back is better today. Mine has been bothering me but it may be some of the exercises I'm doing. Good excuse anyway.
BF; 2 eggs, 1/2 grapefruit, 1/2 C oj.
lunch: roast beef sandwich with cheese, pickle, grapes. veggies & dip if I needed.
Dinner: Bravos, Sure hope I can stay legal.
Got to run to a meeting: Be back later.
Ellen 01-12-2005, 10:29 AM The scale was not good to me today. I was up a 1/2 pound from last week. I am terribly discouraged, and frustrated. I can't blame anyone but myself, as I have had a few cheats throughout the week. I was down four a few days ago, but it popped right back up again. I am not sure what I am going to do about my doctor, and getting my thyroid stuff regulated. I actually took glucophage this morning with my granola. I hate the stuff because of what it does to my digestive system, but I guess I will try and get really good about it, and what I am eating and my exercise, and hopefully see SOME results.
TONI: If you are having blood work, I don't think you are supposed to have coffee either. You better check with the lab and tell them you drank coffee. Its the same as having eaten something. It will effect the levels. Water is ok, but not anything else.
JACK: The game is called Apples to Apples. Its a card game sort of, but not like your classic four suit cards. You take turns being the judge, and the judge deals the cards, then turns one out on the table that is an adjective...like Spiritual, Violent, etc. Each player has seven noun cards and must pick on that matches the word on the table. It can be funny, or serious, or just way out there... The fun starts when the judge starts eliminating different cards and the players start arguing for or against. The judge's decision is final, but the process is a blast.
Breakfast this morning was: Granola, milk, and coffee with half and half.
Not sure about lunch. Dinner will be roast beef, Brussel sprouts, and mustard greens.
Pancho 01-12-2005, 11:12 AM Good Morning:
I did not go to the gym today...naughty me! I got home from my Mom's Night Out around 11, but it was midnight when I finally got into bed and started to fall asleep. When the alarm went off at 4 a.m., I got out of bed and went into the bathroom, and then turned around and climbed back into bed. I was was too tired to exercise. If I can get Lane to take a nap, then I will pop in an exercise video here and do that. I've gotta really do somehing....I was at 123.5# this morning...so it's not going down much. I think I'll do the calendar thing, like Teensy and Jack-K. I will put a red X for the days I stay OP with my eating, and then I will do a yellow highlight on the days I get to the gym (or workout). It isn't often that I miss a Wed. morning workout, and getting to bed at midnight wouldn't have been enough to keep me home months ago.
Britt has a bithday party to go to after school at a pizza restaurant. I hope I am able to drop her off, and then go back to pick her up, otherwise I will be faced with the pizza dilemma. The pizza is not that great there either. If Lane and I can leave, then I can go eat something healthy and then go pick her up after the party. We'll see.
Country: Hang in there! A lot of us are struggling to get back OP after the Holidays, and a lot of people are still not posting. Coming on and posting is a good fist step. We are here for you, and we know that you can get past this. Congrats on the great news, Grandma ;) .
Gator: Gross! The thought of eating dog makes me wanna throw up, especially since I was eating when I read your post  Enjoy your new classes...can you believe it's that time already again? I would like to take some more nutritional classes; I think I will next semester. You are going great with your steps. Sorry your lunch was a disappointment. Do you have a Wendy's nearby? Their salads and chili are always a good bet.
Teensy: I think I'll have to try the calendar thing! I can't seem to be as strict with myself as I once was. There was a time I decorated a Princess castle cake for Britt's birthday and a Minnie Mouse cake for Lane's without so much as a lick of the frosting off my fingers. You s/b very proud of yourself...it takes awhile to get that mentality going again!!
Toni: When is your test scheduled? I will be praying for you. Congrats on the 3#'s; way to go!
Jack-K: The TM will definatly increase that pedometer count by quite a bit. Thanks for the advice; I don't plan to let the numbers get out of control, but does anyone? I've just gotta go dig up that motivation I lost about 3-4 weeks ago. You will see a payoff with your weight soon.
Ken: When we first got preg. w/ Lane, I just told Britt that Jesus answered our prayers, and that is how she got there. As the months went on and she started asking more questions, I found some awesome books that help "explain" it in a very good way, without giving out the details for a child to really know. I know I have them around here somewhere if you want me to mail them to you....I would be happy to. It is sooo hard to keep the news from the kids. We did not tell Britt about Lane until I was past my first trimester, but that was because the year before, I had a miscarriage at 11-weeks, and we wanted to make sure that all seemed to be going well first. Brittany is such a sensitive and emotional child, and it would have devastated her if anything happened. Up until I gave birth, Britt would take lotion and rub my tummy and talk to her little sister...those are priceless memories. I think if you keep Jess involved in the shopping and as much as possible, she will welcome that baby with open arms and feel very little resentment; she will feel like such the big sis.
Fruit: All I can say is OUCH!!! I can't imagine that kind of pain. Maybe you should start moisturizing your butt  . I hope "it" is feeling better today.
Groovia: Welcome back! I do remember you....I thought you were doing well on SB before you left. I hope you can do well this time around! Good luck.
Monet: Try not to get discouraged....I know it's gotta be tough, but you are such a motivation for so many, and you know this plan like the back of your hand.
Lane wants me to play with her, so I gotta run.
Have a great OP day.
Take care,
Nat
kengjw 01-12-2005, 12:43 PM Good morning..
Thanks for all your well-wishes. I wasn't feeling too good this morning but after breakfast I was feeling much better. Sleeping the last few nights have been quite difficult but I am not complaining as it could be worst.
Lunch is cooking away on the stove. I am making braised oxtail, broccoli and rice today. I think I am starting to feel yucky at the sight of meat but hanging in there. Few replies :
TEENSY : I love spaghetti squash too. How do you like to cook yours? The last time which was also the first time I tried the squash, I baked it until it is cooked. I scraped out the strings and sauteed them with lots of chopped veggies, herbs and garlic and then added some parmesan cheese on top before serving. It was pretty good. I would like to try other ways to cook it. Thanks for your well-wishes. I do have a lot to get ready. As far as food is concerned, my neighbors told me not to worry about it, they will bring me some meals but I still need to clean the house which isn't my fav thing to do...lol.
JACK-k : Yes, I heard of Zofran but have not tried taking it. When I was pregnant with Jess, my dr did prescribe me Zofran but I was too scare to take it since I was a new mom and was too worried that it will affect my baby...lol. Now, I would probably take it to give myself some breaks if it gets too tough. Thanks for reminding me about Zofran.
TONI : Running any test is never fun but it will give you a peace of mind. Sounds like you are in good hands. Let us know when your test will be, ok? Yippeee, 2 lbs loss!! WTG Toni!!
MONET : Oh, I don't know how to bake bread yet but when I am ready, I will ask you for help. Would love to bake some ww rolls.
PANCHO : I told Jess that God's put the seed in there. She said "how?" I have always told her that God does wonders and has lots of magically powers so he performed magic and put the seeds there. I know that wasn't very good answers but that was what I could think of at that moment...lol. Thank you for your offer on the books...I will keep that in mind. If I really need it, I will let you know :)
MONET : You are one tough women and I have always admire your spirit in handling disappointments. You just keep moving....and keep being hopeful. I love that about you and don't you lose that spirit. Keep moving ahead and do what you think needs to be done and hopefully you can find the right combination to what works for you body.
FRUIT : Thanks for your sense of humour and bravery to share the details of your crack with us. I love that about you!! The only thing I would do is keep mosturizing it and hope it will get well soon. My SIL was like you, she had many miscarriages but she kept trying and finally succeed at the last pregnancy with drs watching her very closely and keeping her on bedrest most of the time. Finally Kayla was born premature but she made it. Today, she is one intelligent little girl and is now in Kindergarten. I have so much admiration for her and you as well. I am not sure if I will be as brave to keep trying.
GROOVIA : Welcome back!! Please hang around with us!
Got to go...
Julia
Ellen 01-12-2005, 02:20 PM OH MY GOODNESS! I am half way through lunch and its awesome! I found baked instant brown rice ramen noodles at Harry's/Whole Foods, and made them for lunch. I put in a few sliced baby carrots, nappa and some ****ake mushrooms, sliced, then I poached two eggs on the top, and garnished it with sliced green onions. This is incredible! I have missed the ramen noodles since starting SB over three years ago..but this will definitely make up for it! I also have a package of buckwheat ones to try next. I think I will try some thin sliced meat in it too. :D Monet is a happy camper, even though the scale was mean to her!
woodfrogs 01-12-2005, 02:24 PM Hi everyone, I haven't been here for awhile and have decided that I really need the support of the group. I was crazy busy over the summer, and was eating well and exercizing. Fall was good too. But the holidays have thrown me for a loop, I put a couple of pounds back on, and now need to focus on what's really important to me. Getting the remaining 60+ pounds off and keeping them off. I did walk on the tm last night for 30 mins, and plan on doing that again when I get home today. Today is also grocery day, and time to make sure that I get good stuff and not junk.
I went through and read all the posts from this week, but just feel overwhelmed at responding to everyone. I just send out a big :grouphug:
to everyone and look forward to reading and getting back on track.
Barbara
GatorGal 01-12-2005, 03:33 PM Hi Wood, welcome back.
Fruit--I was thinking about you today as I was walking. I kinda remember that you said that when Mardi Gras starts you will be going off the wagon because that's the time you party. I just want to make sure that this is a conscious, thought out decision on your part. That is, you have opted to do this on your own free will. Because Mardi Gras is just a day, with no power over you, except what you choose to give it. And others may party it up by eating lots of cake and drinking lots of drinks. But unless they hold you down and force food and drink down your throat, you still have the choice whether or not to do the same, foodwise, as they are doing. As I look past Mardi Gras, at the time when you will have a baby in your home, and at the time when you will be at or near your goal, I just want to make sure that you are not succumbing to the "temptations to indulge" at Mardi Gras, and all the associated parties, because you "have to." Because you really have a choice here and can focus on the costumes and the beads and the socializing rather than the food. Just trying to get your focus on the real goal here.
Hope you are feeling better. Your story just "cracked" me up. :) Thanks for the disclaimer, but I read it anyway. LOL
I worked this morning at the pregnancy care center and saw two teenage girls who were afraid that they were pregnant. The movies and TV shows show all the "glamor" of falling into bed with the current boyfriend, but they never show the woman wringing her hands in worry as she sits in a crisis pregnancy center, or, heaven forbid, an abortion center. Choices!!
I was about 5 minutes late for work today because I chose to walk 2 miles this morning, and didn't get started until 7:45. It's 82 degrees here now, so still wonderful walking weather. My poor DH had to fly to Chicago today. His plane landed in Indianapolis because Chicago was socked in this morning. He finally landed at Midway at 1:30. I hate it when he has to fly in cold snowy weather as the planes get ice on their wings, get delayed, etc. He is supposed to get home tomorrow night late.
Food today:
strawberries on shredded wheat n' bran, with skimmed milk.
Lunch: 1 BLT on WW bread with a little mayo. One cup popcorn, 3 butter cookies. :(
Well, I'm gonna stop and try to finish my French homework. It's not easy. We have International Phonetics symbols that form French sentences, and I'm supposed to decipher them to figure out the sentence. Some of them have me stumped.

Teensybean 01-12-2005, 04:39 PM Just popping in for a quick report........TA DA.....I am down 4 pounds this morning.....oh la de dah!!! WHOO HOOO!!! I guess staying on plan and all that extra exercise is paying off. Now to concentrate on the rest of it........
Gotta run.......will be back for replies in a bit, need to go change my weight ticker.......
Fillise 01-12-2005, 06:23 PM Hello all!
The scale still hasn't budged--boo hiss! I ate a huge sandwich for lunch with some multigrain chips, so I'm going to have a big salad tonight.
I finally got my info on the inaugural. I will be at the "Stars and Stripes" Ball on Thursday night. I still need to find a bra that will work with my gown. It has a big cut-out in the back so I need something where a back strap won't show. I'm seriously thinking of using duct tape to reign in the "girls." Seriously.
I hope everyone is doing well today. I'm sorry I can't reply to everyone as I have to do my lesson for tomorrow. Have a great afternoon and evening!
Susan
Toni48 01-12-2005, 07:08 PM Good evening ladies. I've had a horrible day. Went over to the clinic to have blood drawn and there were new people there. And three nurses couldn't get blood out of me. It has to come out of my hand because there isn't any good veins in my arms. So tomorrow I have to go to the hospital thats an hour away and see if they can draw blood. I'm drinking lots of water today so it will help my veins plump up.
Jack-K- They've done that test you talked about on my legs but this time that I'm having trouble with them my cardio decieded it would be better if they did the dye test. He said it was better for seeing the blockages. I sure wish it was the other one.
Pancho- The nurse is supposed to call and tell me when they have me scheduled. I wish she would have called today. I just want it over with.
Julia- Hope you're still feeling good. Doesn't Rhoades dough have some yeast frozen ww rolls that are legal? I can't remember but think I had some last summer.
Goovia- Welcome back.
Woodfrogs- Good to see you again... Glad you're back.
Monet- You find the best things. Yum ramen sounds good...
Gatorgal- what a wonderful walk you got in. Thats so nice you can do that.
Bob- Hope you're feeling better.... I got my George Stella book today. Can't wait to start reading it..
Teensy- A great big CONGRADULATIONS!! Woo hoo 4 lbs is great....
Fillise- Hope you find a bra and don't have to tape up.....
Well got a meat loaf cooking with deer meat and ground sirloin so better go check on that.
fruitloupe 01-12-2005, 08:04 PM Hey!
Just a fly by tonight! I've got lots to do! Thanks for all the well wishes for my crack! It is feeling a tad bit better today but it's not totally healed.
GATOR: We won't be doing much eating that day that we ride. I'm going to be involved in many parties and situations where I don't plan on drinking or eating off plan. Just the day that I ride - I'll be doing some alcohol consumption. We have breakfast, and then usually burgers for lunch and then a turkey sandwich on the float for supper. So, I don't plan on indulging the entire MG season! Just one day and it's because I WANT to...not because anyone is forcing me too. :D
OK - I'll talk to all of you later!
Missy

GatorGal 01-12-2005, 09:20 PM Fruit--Sounds good to me. I'm happy you are making this a conscious choice and not just going along with the crowd.
Fillise--I've used tape before, and even just bandaids to cover up the obvious when I've had something I didn't have a good bra for. The only trouble I've had has been a skin reaction to the sticky stuff in the tape. You might try something other than duct tape, as that stuff is really sticky and might be a little painful getting off.
I got 12500 steps in today. I walked another 2 miles by myself just as it was dusk.
Dinner: collard greens, 4 oz. no steroids/hormones organic ground beef patty, salad, 8 cherries. I had close to 1400 calories today.
Hope every one had a great day, and I'll "see" y'all tomorrow.

Ellen 01-12-2005, 10:08 PM Ok, I think I did it! I did not eat anything really bad today. I did have a bowl of popcorn as a snack, but in all, I had three starches, and nothing illegal. :D Dinner was roast beef, black beans and green beans. I know the popcorn was not great, but it is ok in moderation, so I won't have any more for a week or more.
I guess I get to put a red X on my calendar! Hooray! I did not get on the TM has I had planned, but will try to tomorrow. Sunday, Monday and Tuesday were so busy, that I felt wiped out today. I am still not up to snuff with the energy levels, so a day of being laid back and lazy seemed like a good idea. The roast beef I had for dinner is unfortunately not sitting well. My system seems to want me to fast at night! Bummer! Especially since that is the meal my husband wants to be meat and two or three sides! Its hard not to sit down and eat with him, but I am going to have to learn to eat something very light and have my heavier meal at noon, when my body likes it.
GATOR: You are inspiring on those steps! Tomorrow, I am going to remember to put my pedometer on and check my steps! I already have it out by the computer, where I will see it first thing with my glasses!
WOOD: Good to see you back! You can get the rest of those pounds off! We need you, so I am glad you need us!
FILLISE: Check Fredericks of Hollywood. They have some kind of self sticking bra that is just cups, or one that has clear back and straps. There are several of their stores around here, if you can swing a trip to Hotlanta....you can stay here if you want to make it a evening trip.
SEBRAY: I have been wondering where you were! My insomnia problems are much better now. I think the pain pills were exacerbating the problem. I have not taken the Calms Forte' for over a week, but I seem to be sleeping better. I do know having a regular routine helps. Once I get overtired, I have a hard time sleeping.
FRUIT: I really feel for you in the crack crack. I have problems with yeast infections in the folds down where my torso and legs join. They get really bad in hot weather, and I tried everything last summer to try and clear it up. Lamisil worked the best, and blowing drying it with the hair dryer helped a lot too. I hope yours clears up quickly.
BOB: Well, I wasted about two hours on that grab site. I can't remember the name of the game but it sure was fun! Thanks for the link!
TEENSY: Woo hoo! Way to go on that four pound loss! I get to put a red X on my calendar! I feel so special!
PANCHO: Thank you for your kind words, and encouragement. You gals are the best! This board really keeps me going. I bet you get those couple extra pounds off real quickly....
KENG: When you get ready to bake bread, you let me know! Its really a lot easier than you would think! I can share a few tricks that will have you baking bread like a pro in no time! And Jess would LOVE to play with bread dough, then see it raise and baked. There are all kinds of spiritual lessons you can teach kids with bread dough! I used it a lot in my curriculum I wrote for my children's program at Perimeter.
TONI: I am so sorry your day went so badly! I hate having blood drawn! I have just one good vein, and the nurse always has a hard time finding it. The doctor often draws blood, and he is really really good...he laughs and says it is his talent...his one and only talent. Keep us posted on how things go.
I hope I did not miss anyone.... I hope everyone is doing splendid!
GatorGal 01-12-2005, 11:24 PM Fillise--Go Gators. The tigers just lost in the House of Horrors to the Mighty Gators in BB 84-78 in OT.
Ellen 01-12-2005, 11:34 PM LOVE2Live: I hope you find us over here in this weeks' thread! I have had that chicken sausage from Whole Foods, and it is good! There is another farmer's market here, that was started earlier than Harry's, actually by Harry's brother, which is where Harry got the idea. They make their own organic sausages, and they are really good! I like their chicken sausages because I often cook for a group that has a few members who won't eat pork or shellfish. I liked the Super Size Me movie. I think it was probably pretty true. As a low budget documentary, I thought they did a very good job with it. It was simple science, and he seemed to be taking care to document what he was doing. We want to blame someone else for the problems we have with health in this country, but I do think our tastes for fried, fast food is at the heart of the problem. We as a culture are pretty stupid when it comes to nutrition!
kengjw 01-12-2005, 11:36 PM A friend and her daughter came by this evening and went home around 9pm. Jess was way too tired and had a hard time falling asleep by the time I laid her down in bed. I made ww pancakes and cheesy scrambled eggs for everyone so that was easy. Surprisingly I ate pretty well tonight considering how I felt when I was cooking the pancakes. I just didn't think I could eat them but I did.
Overall, eating today has been pretty good.
Breakfast : 1 toast with chicken patti (not legal)
Snack : Fruit salad.
Lunch : Braised oxtail, steamed broccoli , sauteed spinach and garlic and basmati rice.
No snack
Dinner : 2 medium ww pancakes, scrambled eggs. Water. Oops, I just realized I do not have veggies for dinner.
The whole day, I sipped on warm homemade ginger tea, not sure if it helps but the warm tea definitely soothed my tummy when it went down. I also swept the floors and mopped my kitchen too. My back started to ache so I took a rest here and there.
MONET : How did you learn to eat ramen noodles like that? That is how we eat our instant noodles back in my country. I would add lots of veggies, poached egg,
fishballs/meatballs/seafood, green onions, sesame seed oil to etc make it a complete meal. Yum!!! My fav instant noodles is from Thailand, kind of spicy and sour but texture of the noodles is so crispy and not soggy at all...yum, sure missed that a lot. Thanks, I will definitely ask for your help when I am ready to bake, sounds fun.
TONI : I am sorry your day at the clinic didn't go well. Hope tomorrow will. {{{hugs}}
SEBRAY : It's not too late...just start small, one meal at a time. You can do it!!
TEENSY : 4 lbs?? Woo Hoo!!!
BOB : I am so sorry you had a bad night. That sounds scary. Remember to tell your dr and find out what might have caused it. I am feeling better just coming here, thanks.
GATOR : My neighbor up the street works in a pregnancy crisis center too. She has been there for 21 years. My girlfriend who came to visit today told me that she just found out that her 22 year old dd is pregnant and my friend doesn't know who is the father yet :(
WOODFROGS : Welcome back!!! We have missed you and we can stay healthy together!!
FRUIT : Glad your crack is feeling better :)
I am going to call it a day and rest my back now. Goodnight.
Julia
Teensybean 01-13-2005, 02:04 AM Okay ladies, I will get in my menu and some replies. Sorry I was on the fly earlier. We had to get Buddy to the vet for his appointment. They removed his staples. The Dr was really amazed at how quickly the incision had healed. We still have to keep him down and only let him out on his leash for the minimum of 3 weeks. I love my little boy, but this 4 am potty routine is for the birds. Thankfully dh took him out the last couple of mornings. He goes to bed early and gets up early......so why didn't he do this before??
Heading for town in the morning for a hair cut and Costco run. Not able to get a lot at Costco as the refer in the shop has froze up again. LOL. When it gets this cold, it quits running because it is colder outside than the refer. I will have to make room in the house for the romaine and tomatoes. I already brought in everything else that would not take the freeze. They are saying now with the wind chill factors we will have minus 30. I was so tickled when it warmed up and snowed, what happened??
Here is my menu for the day--
B-- 3.5 oz raspberries, 2 egg omelet, (ground beef, cheese, salsa, ff sour cream)
snack-- apple
L-- last of the salmon, 1/2 c spaghetti squash, 2.5 oz sweet red pepper, 2 sweet N low international coffee candies.
snack-- 12 peanuts, orange
D-- sweet and sour chicken over brown rice.
dessert--1/2 c sf pudding with lite whipping cream
Missy-- Oh my God girl, you had me rolling on the floor I was laughing so hard. I know it isn't funny for you, but oh.......just the way you put it, lol.
Groovia-- Welcome back.....we miss you when you are gone. Good luck this time around. The plan is a good one and does work if we stick to it.
Toni-- Congrats on the 2 pound loss. Makes it all worthwhile doesn't it. I know what you mean about the deer. We had to quit feeding the pellets and hay because they would come down the road single file at about 3:00 every afternoon for their feed. Funniest thing you ever saw. A couple ended up getting killed. I just couldn't take it. Now I just throw out a few apples every once in awhile at night. Sorry that you have to drive so far to get your blood drawn.
Jack-k-- Hang in there, it will come. WTG on the exercising.....that is half the battle.
Monet-- Sounds to me like alot of it might be fluid. If you are fluctuating that much. Hang in there.....Glad you enjoyed your lunch. Never was a ramen noodle fan, though I love a garden chow mein with the soft noodles. Congrats on your first red X!! They will soon be filling up your calendar.
Pancho-- I know what you are talking about. I didn't have one cheat for three years. Of course I had planned food vacation on Christmas day each of those years, but that was it. Even then I didn't lose my cool and only tasted a couple of goodies. Never gained a pound the first 2 holiday seasons. But once I started having a bite here and a bite there, I was done for. I think it all started this year for Dh surprise party. I let myself have a piece of his cake......and that was all she wrote. Seemed like I was having a taste here and a taste there. Then came all the great fruit this summer. I made too many legal goodies. And even though they are legal, if you eat a piece every night, something has got to happen. It sure did, the scale started moving up!!
Keng-- I usually just microwave mine. Then I have a bit of butter and some parmesan cheese on it. Yours sauteed with the other veggies sounds great. You have some fantastic neighbors. I hear you on house cleaning. I am hoping I get my spring cleaning bug soooooon. My house sure needs it.
Wood-- Welcome back, you have been missed. The holidays have been bad for me also, but I am back on track and really jacked......
Gator-- 82 degree's?? How could you?? I am freezing my bu!! off up here, lol. I am envious.
BOB-- Hang in there. It sure is rotten that you have to go through all this after all you went through with your shoulder.
Fillise-- It will come. I had to laugh at the mind pic I got with the duct tape!! Hope you find a bra.
Sebray-- You need us, we need you......it's that simple!!
Don't know what happened, but I lost half the post.......so this is a retry! See you all tomorrow. Hope I didn't miss anyone.
sebray 01-13-2005, 07:57 AM just a quick flyby...have to get the kids to school...but i wanted to tell ya'll that i love you guys so much :) oh and i finally got on the scale this morning....guess i wasnt as bad as i thought :D woo hoo 2 pounds!!!!
fruitloupe 01-13-2005, 08:42 AM Mornin!
I had to pop in and let y'all know that I'm down another 2 pounds today! And....my period started - so hopefully that will mean a few more pounds will shed too! I don't know if I'll be back today - we have our adoption meeting tonight so I won't have much time after work. But, if I get a chance I'll pop back in!!
Missy
Toni48 01-13-2005, 09:15 AM Good morning. We had a big storm here last night with 70 mile winds. Its still raining this morning. I think I'll go lay back down and rest some more.
I decieded I'm not going anywhere today just stay at home and take it easy. Tomorrow I'll go get my blood work and go grocery shopping. Will be back later.....
GatorGal 01-13-2005, 11:11 AM There is another article about the Frenchwoman's diet book in today's USAToday newspaper. The book is titled "French Women Don't Get Fat: The Secret of Eating for Pleasure" by Mireille Guiliano. It says that the book is about how to have your cake and eat it, too--by eating très petit pieces. It is selling like hotcakes (if you'll pardon my use of that word). One thing the book advises is to avoid "Freedom Fries" and also the same item under the old name "French Fries." LOL :) Somewhere I have an article around that gives a website about the same thing. My DH is out of town, but I think he knows where the article is. When he gets back, I will look through it and see if I can find the website.
I was really tired this morning. I only walked 1.5 miles instead of my usual 2. I am trying to listen to my body, and it was saying "gimme a break, I need a little rest." So only have 4200 steps so far. Breakfast was yummy, one of my favorites, but heavy on the fruit, which probably is somewhat of a no-no.
Breakfast: homemade meusli (1/2 cup raw oats with chopped fresh cherries, strawberries, orange, and, ahem, part of a banana and a few raisins.) Topped with skimmed milk.
I have class today, so need to get showered and ready to go.
Ellen 01-13-2005, 12:00 PM Hopped on the metal monster this morning...down 1/2 of a pound. Not all that encouraging, but at least it is in the right direction! Breakfast was granola and milk, and coffee with half and half.
I may have company today. I have not heard from the couple that might come over...her at lunch time for tea and him later to draw. He is the young friend who went to Auburn with me to see Fillise's church's windows.
I am having cat problems. Honestly, I have always loved cats, but I am getting sick of this crew we have right now. One of them does not like the litter box....and its driving me crazy trying to solve it.
I actually remembered to put on my pedometer this morning, though not when I first got up. I will at least get an idea of most of my day, if not all of it!
GATOR: I meant to ask yesterday...where in Chicago is your hubby? I grew up there...still have two sisters living up there, and lots of cousins and an aunt.
TONI: I don't blame you for laying low after a storm like that!
FRUIT:I hope you get a chance to pop on later...but if not, I hope your meeting goes well.
SEBRAY: I am glad the damage was not so bad! Hop right back on the wagon and it will only be a small blip! You don't want Tech to get snooty, now, do you?
TEENSY: In keeping with my basic rebellious nature, and general out of step personality, I used a big red O around the date instead of an X. :) It looks good! And when I get my exercise in, I can fill in the O with yellow!
KENG: I started cooking Chinese style dishes when I was in the fourth grade. When I was in college, I had a roommate from Hong Kong. She was sweet, but spacy. She kept whining that she could not cook, but would make these fabulous meals. I decided having Mongolian genes did not determine the ability to cook Asian cuisines, and if she could do it, then I, who COULD cook, could do it too! So, I started reading, experimenting, and researching. (the research was to eat at all kinds of Asian restaurants! :) ) If its Asian, I probably like it. I do draw the line at preserved eggs, and pigeon eggs, however! Squid is ok, sometimes. ;) I am too old to really enjoy really hot stuff now days, but in my younger days, I loved it.
I hope I have time to run to Harry's....still trying to get James going.
Solly 01-13-2005, 12:13 PM Good Thursday Morning Ladies,
I am happy to report that I met Monet's challenge of 3 days of exercise and posting on the exercise board. Plan to get at least 2 more days in too. The scale is going down slowly. Exercise really helps move it along.
I was not great at dinner. The steaks and fish were too expensive and I'm not much on chicken. I got the tortalenni (sp) and didn't eat all of it. I did have 2 pieces of bread(there's is soo good) but counted it in my starches for the day. Most of the girls had desert, but I did not. Did not even taste theirs they were passing around. The scale was down another pound today so I was ok with it.
I think we are going Mexican tonight. I will have a taco salad w/o the shell and I am taking my soy chips with me for the salsa. It's those margarits that I have trouble avoiding.
Nat, you will get that number back down. The smart thing is you are doing something about it now before it gets out of hand. How did you do at the pizza party?
Monet, Where are you on the exercise board, This was your challenge. Now I am challenging you to catch up with us over there. I have never understood the fascination with Ramen noodels. My DD loves them. I do like them in a slaw. :cheer: Glad your get an "O". It is hard to eat your big meal at lunch when husband's are involved. I'm not cooking 2 meals. One is bad enough.
Wood, welcome back. Now's the time to get that wt off and keep it off. You can do this. We have missed you.
Gator, it is a shame these kids don't think about the consequences that go with those choices they make. I don't believe they "think" about it at all. Great going on the steps. I only got 7200 in yesterday and that was with 1 mile on the TM. Of course I don't think the TM steps are accurate b/c your stride is different. We get USA Today here so I will go look for that article. I think that is a good idea, but I want to get to goal first and then try that.
Bob, I think it's called "gellin" When I wake up all stiff and sore it's from the gel in your bones setting up. Hope you are better today.
Colleen, Congrats on the 4 lbs. Those red X's are working. You had better throw some wood on the fire and bundle up. That is cold. Glad Buddy is doing so well. I don't think I could handle 4 a.m. potty runs.
Susan, My DD uses duct tape on the "girls" sometimes. I think it is better then some of those strapless bras. Seems I'm always tugging at it all the time and they never "lift you up" properly. Cheaper too.
Toni, hope they are able to get that vein tomorrow. Drinking lots of water does help. Stress and nerves make them hard to find too. We are having terrible winds too. Guess you are sending them my way. It is 63 now and dropping to 40 this afternoon. Back to the cold.
Missy, glad your "crack" is better today. Uncomfortable to sit? :cheer: for your 2 pounds. You are doing this!!!
Sebray, get back on here, good or bad. We all do the same things, but coming here helps you get back on track sooner. 2 lbs is not bad at all.
Julia, I'm sure that ginger tea will help your tummy. Ginger sooths as well as pepermint. Get some SF peppermints to help too.
Need to get busy here. It has been crazy and I thought I was going to have a quiet week with my boss on vacation. NOT! Have a great OP day.
Ellen 01-13-2005, 01:50 PM Does anyone know if those veggie chips from Whole Foods are legal? It seems like they would be...they are 5g of sugar per serving, but they would have some natural sugars in them as veggies, right? The ingredients list does have Dextrin, but it is listed after the salt, and they are hardly salty at all. They contain carrots, squash, sweet potato and green bean. Opinions? I hope they are legal, cause I just ate a handful...a LARGE handful! :)
I went to H |
