Well the week end is over and its a whole new week. I can hear the wind and rain outside. I'm supposed to go for a salad with a friend this afternoon so hope the weather turns better.... I'm already to go on SB. I started yesterday. So I'd better start thinking of some kind of breakfast here. I'm used to just having a piece of toast but think I'll try some eggs today. We had a nice week end here. DH is still kind of messing with my new computer to get everything right on it. He downloaded music on to it yesterday. I think he's enjoying playing around with it.

Thanks Monet for starting the board. I'll check back later....

Good morning! I am sorry I was so late in starting the boards. I over slept...kind of. When I realized how late it was, I was downstairs getting coffee....so I hurried back up and posted. Hope it was not an inconvenience for anyone.

We took the tree down yesterday and cleaned up from it. I packed up the decorations and Tom carried all the storage tubs down to the work room in the garage. Now I just need to clean off all the cookies and cookie decorating supplies from the dining room table. I am SO ready to get my house cleaned up and more organized. You all can harrass me about it if you like. It will help keep me on track!

Lets have a weekly challenge. If anyone has ideas, please let me know so I can post them in the weekly post start up!

This week, the challenge gets to be my choice....

CHALLENGE: Clean out your cabinets! Remove any non-legal foods that might tempt you, and give them to a food pantry. Toss out leftover candy or cookies that are trying to call to you. Make this a week of laying down the groundwork for success in coming weeks. Plan your menus, and shopping lists, so you have what you need. Don't let disorganization or poor planning be what trips you up. Oh, and drink plenty of water!

That's it for me....Welcome to a successful week, my friends! WE CAN DO THIS!!!

HI Ladies

I'm back at work after a week and a half and back on here. Christmas sucked. My niece and her children were sick and didn't get to come. My other niece was sick the whole day at my house, Sunday I got it. I was yucky all week. So much for having a week off. We got 8-10" of snow the Thursday before Christmas so I didn't work Thursday or Friday. It was a mess. Thankfully, it has been 60 degrees and raining so most of it is now gone. I hate the stuff. NY eve I melted my wig. Didn't know it until I got ready to go out the door. What a perfect ending to a hellacious year. I'm glad it's over and pray 2005 is going to be much better.

My desk is covered of course so don't have any time for replies. Just wanted to let you know I was back on here and ready to get at it.

Monet, I see you started the board, Thanks you, but when is Deb ever going to get back on here? Good idea on the challenges. I think we need them.

Got to get busy. Will try to check back if I get a minute. Happy New Year to everyone.

Good Monday morning everyone:

I hope you have all started off the week and the year right!!!

I weighed 122# this morning, which is what I have weighed the past few days, so I officially gained 2 #'s over the holidays. I am not complaining because I took time off from working out and I ate whatever I wanted, so it could be a whole lot worse.

I am back to the gym today, and plan to go W, F & Sat, as well.

We got our tree down as well as all the decorations; I still have to box some of them up. I will do that this evening and then get them all back out into the garage. I, like Monet, am ready to give this house a good cleaning over and get re-organized for this year.

I got a one hour massage certificate from my DH for Christmas, so I plan to go get it on Saturday after I go workout. It will be a great morning out for me.

I ran up to the outlet mall for an hour (by myself) yesterday; it was nice. I stopped in at the Levi outlet to get my DH a pair of jeans. I got myself one too. They were priced at $26.99, with 25% off (so I got them for around $20). They were a JUNIOR SIZE 3. I still cannot believe that I can fit into size 3's & 5's again - Juniors, and I am approaching my 37th birthday and have had two kids. Thanks SUGARBUSTERS!! I will let that be my new incentive to stay on-track this year. I have gone from owning not one pair of jeans 6 months ago to owning about 6 pairs now (a few are hand-me-downs).

Anyhow.....

Sebray: Happy New Year to you too. Wow, sounds like some great bargains that you found; have fun with all that new stuff. I am so not crafty! I hope your SM converts to SB; I am sure she will be healthier and happier.

Toni: Here we go.....Toni.....hang on. Let's get serious and have our best SB year yet.

Fruit: Good to see your post; hope to see you posting more. Let 2005 be the year you stick to SB and get your weight where you want it to be.

Tech: May 2005 be the year you meet your goal weight and every year after this be the years to maintain.

Monet: Thanks for starting the board. You are not inconveniencing anyone; you are doing us all a favor. Did Deb just desert the board for good? I'm sure she could check in once a week or so. GREAT Challenge!!! And, great idea to get more challenges going for awhile.

Jack: Sorry everyone was sick for Christmas, and that you ended up getting it. I would say, "congrats on a white Christmas," but I guess that's not the kind of Christmas you enjoy  . Glad it is warming up a bit for you. You were doing so well with your exercise before Christmas. I hope you are feeling well enough to get back on track soon. Melted your wig??? :?:

Well, Lane wants me to play with her. She lost her playmate back to school today. She is already missing her sis.

HAPPY NEW YEAR!!!! Let's all make it a great one!

Checking in....bummer. The Wednesday before Christmas, my older daughter was in a really bad wreck, and so Thursday she asked me to come get her and take her to the doctor. Her car was totalled... So I cancelled a lunch engagement with a young woman from church to do that. Today, the young woman and I had rescheduled...and after running a few errands this morning, I came home for an hour before I had to leave to meet her. My daughter just called...her husband's truck is not running right and he is working on it. He broke a part, and has no way to get to the parts store. Will I come up and take him? (they live 45 minutes away) SO, I get to call my young friend and cancel AGAIN...its so pathetic, I laughed.

I should feel relief that the holidays are over, but instead I am feeling kind of stressed, and my stomach is burning. I actually think its from the coffee I drank, but still, I feel tense. I am trying to double up on my water, and I hope it clears up soon.

PANCHO and JACK: I have not heard from Debbie in a while. I will do whatever I can to keep the board going, since I NEED it so badly. I hope everyone else feels the same.

gotta go try and make some sense of my day... be back later

AFTERNOON EVERY BUDDY!!!

Went to work this morning...my friend Debbie from Work picked me up...made it will 10:30 a.m. and had to bust out of there. She brought me back home.
Called the Doc and I can't get in until tomorrow afternoon at 2:30p.m. The pain is so bad that is just couldn't stand it.
He wlll give me a note to be off for a while...the few days after the accident just wasn't enough...

It's HELL having a new car sitting in the driveway and not able to drive it!

I'll check in a little later....time for some drugs!

I spent the whole morning driving from store to store to look for mark-down ornaments. I know I am a bit late but hoping to find some that anyway. I didn't find many that I like...oh well. I also went to another store to shop for some pantry items which are so much cheaper there but is slightly further from my house. I am pooped from the walking and driving but had a great time with Jess.

The weather is exceptionally hot since yesterday. I actually wore shorts yesterday co'z it was too hot. Today is the same so dh and I might bring dd to the park, if it is not close for the winter. Oh, today is dh's off day so I will have less time on the computer so I am hoping to do some replies while dd and dh played together now.

TONI : I can have eggs for breakfast everyday but I try to not overdo it. I just love eggs. My mom used to tease me that I should marry a man who rear chicken for eggs so I will have plenty to eat...lol. Well...good thing eggs are not so expensive...lol. I am ready to eat better too!

MONET : Thanks for starting the board again! I am supposed to take down the tree yesterday night but got lazy so tonight is the night...lol.Oh yea, I second cleaning and organizing the house as well. I have been doing it slowly so far. More cleaning to go! I am so glad your dd wasn't hurt in the wreck. Gosh, that must scared you. I am sure your lady friend will be understanding of the cancellations.

JACKIE : {{{hugs}}} Hope you are feeling much better already. I am sure 2005 will be a better year :)

PANCHO : You have certainly done a great job on your eating during the holidays. I am sure the 2 lbs will melt off soon. Oh, a massage sounds so nice, enjoy! It is so hard for me to find a jeans that fits me well because I am not too tall. I know I will have to check out the junior section too. Dh gave me a shopping spree as my Christmas present so I will go shopping for some jeans, pants etc. I love it!

BOB : Oh Bob, I am so sorry you are in such pain. Tomorrow is such a long wait but hope you get some relief from whatever you have on hands right now. {{hugs}}

Looks like I am caughter up on the post for now. Will check in later tonight.

Hello everyone! Still in NC. My DF's heart cath is tomorrow, so I'm hanging around until then before I head home. Hopefully I will be back in Auburn Wed.

Everyone ready to watch Auburn in the Sugar Bowl tonight--BOB--you know what to do! :D

Jackie--Um, how did you melt you wig??????? I hope 2005 is much better--2004 was rough for you. It's time for a good year!

Gator--You too! Here's to a hurricane-less 2005!

Bob---You three! Get that kness back in working order so you can get back into those new wheels!

Monet--Good Challenge! I hope everyone is ok with the accident and all. Sounds like you will be driving everyone--be careful!

Nat--WTG on the size 3's!!!!!! That's inspiration for the rest of us!!!!!

Toni--Protein always helps me to get the day started! But healthy carbs in the AM aren't bad either. Oatmeal in Milk (not the instant), SB-Legal cereal, or WW toast with Peanut Butter are favorites!

I got my folks and me pedometers from Target over the weekend. We all have them on today and took a short walk this AM (the oldsters need to start slowly). I got the kind that comes with a strap--they were on sale for 10.99. So far so good, I'm a little over 3,000 steps.

I hope everyone is getting off to a good start this new year!

Talk to you soon,
Susan

Julia--We were posting at the same time! Have fun taking the tree down. I just got the last of my parents outside decorations down and will have to de-decorate my house when I get home!

Susan

PS--I'm putting the tracker back!

Only a quick check in. We spent the entire weekend at the house getting wallpaper and old paneling down, etc...now after Robby gets of work in the evening, we will have to spend a couple hours each evening doing stuff so that we can move in this weekend. My eating was really terrible over the weekend. I'm sure the scale is back up a few. I see I'm not the only one, lol. It's hard to eat healthy when you're on the go for a couple of days. Lets just say I'm actually sick of Mickey D's. Today, I'm doing better. Got in 3 miles this AM(WATP), BF was 3 eggs and cheese, Snack was 1 1/2 Atkins bars(I overate), and my famous huge tuna salad with veggies, cheese, and Ranch. Supper will be 2 hamburger patties(no bread today)with veggies and mustard and ketchup on top with legal coleslaw. Well, I have to go!

Fly by...did not have to drive up to the outer limits to get that car part with Erik. He ended up borrowing a neighbor's car. Yay! So I went and had lunch with my young friend. It was lovely. We sat and talked for three hours! We went to my favorite Japanese tea room and had it all to ourselves, so its easy to stay and enjoy. I did eat some white rice, but I told myself that was ok as long as I did not have any sugar today. I am going to take this one step at a time! No sugar will be hard enough...and the white rice is not something that I deal with daily, where the sugar is always a temptation!

Ok, off to get something done! I am beginning to plan the garden for this year, as my favorite seed catalog arrived today! Woo hoo! Can't wait!

Thanks, Monet, for starting the board. You do a great job and we all appreciate it so much. Don't worry about starting it late. We are just grateful to have it started at all. I'm glad you finally got to have lunch with your friend. I hope your daughter is OK after her wreck.

Jackie, funny you should mention your wig. I was thinking about you the other day and figuring that you should bet getting some fuzz on top. So maybe the ole wig won't be needed much longer. Hope you can soon say "goodbye" to it. I sympathize about being sick. Both my DH and I were sick. In fact he barfed big time Christmas morning, and I spent some time that day washing sheets, bed spread, etc. He cleaned up the bathroom, thank goodness. He was really a mess and very sick. He is still on antibiotics, but I've finished and am on the mend. Just have a cough left to remind me of the bad week.

I am finally back to walking. Got in almost 1.5 miles this morning, but had to go pick up my mentoree and bring her here so she could type her English term paper on my computer. She doesn't have a 'puter, so I proof read her paper and did some major changes to it, and then she typed it. She still has a couple of pages to write and we hope to get it all done tomorrow so she can hand in the rough draft on Wednesday. If you want to know anything about the Code of Chivalry, just ask me!!!

Eating has been OK today. I had oatmeal for BF. Black eyed peas and collards with a little ham for lunch, a ham sandwich and a scoop of I.cream for snack :(, and I don't know what for dinner. I have been trying to eat lots of fiber because over the holidays I wasn't too careful about that. Maybe I'll have a salad for dinner.

BOB--It's a new year and now is the time to GET WELL!!! Get some more of that weight off and it will kick start you to new health---we hope!!!! :) :)

Susan--I'll be pulling for the Aubies. Go SEC. Right now UF has no where to go but up. They stunk up the place at the Peach Bowl, and then a couple days later our BB team lost to the Noles, which is ridiculous. The Nolies arent even good, which doesn't say much for our guys.

Anyone know where Debelli is. Has she completely given up on the board? BOB, you ever hear from Debbie?

Hi everyone! I ate a few triscuits and meunster cheese for dinner. I don't feel all that great, so I did not feel like eating much. I had a big lunch, anyway.

GATOR: We all need to get back to posting steps! That always got me inspired to wear my pedometer and see how many I could get. Mine is somewhere under all this crap by the computer...will have to dig it out and get back to walking too! :)

BOB: How are you doing? I am sorry your knee hurt too much to stay at work. Drink lots of milk...for the calcium.

JACKIE: I too, want to know how you melted your wig.... A white Christmas sounds so romantic, but I am with you. I hate the stuff! If we are going to get any, it better be on a day that is NOT a day off already. I hate it when it snows here on the weekend! Everything closes when it snows, and I like for Tom to be able to be home for a snow day!

FRUIT: Hey, that is great about the treadmill! I love mine! I should use it more too....

FILLISE: Got your dad and family in my prayers...keep us posted! You coming through Atlanta on the way back???

My DH and I just got back from a nice walk, even though it was dark. Weather still nice and I wore shorts and a t-shirt. In all I got 9500 steps in today. Just 500 short of my minimum goal of 10,000. I hope to do better tomorrow, but I pick up my mentor student at 9 am. for her to finish her term paper over here, so it may be a little difficult. I take her home about lunch time, so maybe I can squeeze some walking in before working out.

My DH has 2 more days of antibiotics. They are making him feel bad, headachy and stuff. So he has not been eating much at all for the past week. He has lost about 5 pounds and goes around moaning about "all that weight I lost." The dirty bird!! He even got out an old jacket he could not wear to show me he can now fit into it. I wish it were that easy for me. He is obnoxious, but I didn't tell him that.

Jackie--yes, tell us how you melted your hair. I know it was not made of sugar!! LOL

Hello ladies, Just a drive by......as it is late. Been back on plan since Friday and plan on staying that way. I am marking each day off on the calendar so that I may see my progress as I complete each day. I will be weighing in on Wednesday so will know where I am at. Don't think the disaster is too bad, but will see.

I was going to post about my Buddy on Friday night, but the forum was down for whatever reason. Maintenance I think it said. Got my puppy dog home Friday morning. The surgery was a bit more complicated than first thought, as they found that one of his bones that was supposed to have ridges to hold another bone was not deep enough, so they had to make it deeper so as to hold the knee cap the way it is supposed to be held. Then they had to shorten the stretched out ligament. I guess not having the ridges is common in very small dogs, but my dear Buddy is a 70 pound love. He is doing good now, but is hard to keep down. He is supposed to be kept down for at least 3 weeks. Ha!! I can't believe this boy, he was ready to go the second day. Only stayed down one full day. Can't be let out without being on a leash, and not supposed to go up and down stairs. But we have 2 small steps and that is the only way I can get him outside without going down 4 or 6. I take it really slow with him. I can see improvement each day, so I know he will be walking up the hill with me again soon. I have missed him as a walking partner.

Well, I am headed for bed. I have to get up with him when he needs to go outside. Can't let him use the doggie door because of the 6 steps going down to the patio. Last night it was 3:35 am when he needed to go out, then I couldn't get back to sleep. I am also sleeping in the spare room because it is a lower bed and I don't want him trying to jump up on our bed. The things we do for our furbabies........gotta love em!!

Hi guys! Well, yesterday I did very well sticking to plan, until I took Shelley to her skating lesson and forgot I couldn't have tick tacks :nono: until I ate about half a container. But I stuck to plan the rest of the day...

BF
1 poached egg
1 slice of ww toast
1/2 orange

Lunch
chicken salad (mayo, chicken, sweet onion, oregano) on ww bread
grapes
water

Dinner
burger salad
(Ground beef and onions, toppped with green salad)
BUT, used illegal salad dressing

Snack
Triscuits and Cheese

So, all in all, it wasn't a totally legal day, but in the right direction, nonetheless...

In other news...I can't remember if I've told you guys before that we have a local hot celebrity who's father lives around the corner from me and his mother lives in the next town over (where Shelley takes her skating lessons). It just blows me away because this is such a desolate place to live in the winter...the cow population far outweights the human population...my daughter has 13 kids in her grade in the whole school if that tells you anything! Anyhow...Anyone seen the Lord of the Rings? Anyone else just about melt away at the sight of Viggo (Aragorn)? Well, imagine living in this little bitty town knowing his father lives around the corner on a little farm with a little stone house. So, last night I'm at skating and, no I didn't have a Viggo sighting, but I was talking to a woman that works in the local grocery store and she said Viggo was in with his son buying DVDs once and then a couple days later he was in line behind her at the check out. I would flat out...just...die... Also, he's been spotted at our post office and a zillion times at the grocery store in my town. I almost don't believe it, but if you drive by his father's farm, they have a little wooden sign out front that says "Mortensen" and if you look up any fan sites of Viggo, it says anywhere you look that he went to Watertown HS, which is where I go to the mall and walmart. It just blows me away. I get excited when I see the weather girl in Penney's...If I ever had a Viggo sighting, I"m positive I'd make a blubbering idiot out of myself. BUT, in the end, it's nice to know in the dead of winter as you drive from Watertown to home on those flat, gray roads through flat, gray land around deserted old farms, that this is actually the road Viggo takes from the airport to his dad's house after flying in on a small jet! Wow...it takes on a whole new meaning!! Even if I never have a Viggo sighting...

Well, anyhow...I think I'll be honest and put up a new ticker. Good news is that my jeans are still fitting a tad loose and I'm starting out this time five pounds less than I was in November...

Good luck everyone!!

Good Tuesday Morning Ladies

It is a little bit more normal here today. Back in the groove. I like routine. Got my treadmill and workout in last night and back on track. I am shooting for 6 days of tm and 3 of wts this week.

I had a RA dr appt at 7:00 this morning and had a bone density test. She said I had the bones of a 35 year old. Then how come I feel Like 80? I may have young bones, but my bladder belongs to a 70 year old.

Susan, Congrats on Auburn's win last night. I thought it was going to be lop sided for awhile. Hope your dad is doing ok.

BOB, Girl, I sure hope 2005 is better than 2004 was for you and me. I had to go back and find out what happened to you. Are you in a cast for your knee?

Monet, I would treat the white rice as a starch and go on. Sometimes we are faced with situations that we cannot avoid. I just count it as a starch and don't go over the 2-3 limit and go on. You gotta do what you gotta do. Glad you finally got to have lunch with your friend. On the wig melting, the only thing I can figure is I was baking some bread in the oven and when I opended the door the blast of heat melted the front of it. Now I was in and out of that oven all day Christmas any for the last year so go figure. Luckily I have a shorter one that is similar but I really don't like it. But I'm not about to buy another one now.

Gator, sorry to hear you had the Christmas bug too. Not fun. It really spoils your day. I got a good pedometer for Christmas so I am ready to rack up the miles. I do have quite a bit of hair now but it is still in the boundaries of my hairline. Not quite ready to go w/o the old wig yet. Plus it is so gray :fr:

Missy, so glad to see you back on here and back on track. I have been thinking about you (and praying for you). I love my borrowed treadmill. I feel like I get a better workout in 1 mile on the tm than 3 miles outside, plus it takes less time. How is the adoption proceedings going?

teensy, so glad to hear that Buddy is doing better. Sounds like he is a trooper. Glad to hear you are back on track. Let's stay there and get to goal quickly this year. I am determined, how about you?

Heart, good luck on your move. I know you are excited.

Ken, It feels good to get all those decorations put away doesn't it. I did mine early last week and did a good cleaning.

Techwife, how exciting to have a celebrity in your town. Keep watching, you may see him one day. I can't imagine tic tacks could be that bad.

Melf, I saw a post from you last week. Come back and join us. We miss you.

Country, are you lurking? Come on, this is our year. we are going to do it this year for sure.

Need to do some real work. Have a great day.

Good Morning! I slept awfully late this morning, but it sure felt good! Tonight is small group, and I really need to dig out the house so they are not grossed out! I threw out the indecent Christmas cookies this morning...and I am slowly getting all the stuff put away. I got the sirloin tip roast in the crockpot for dinner, and tried to get the adult son out of bed to get ready for work. I had to run interference on the Kitty 500 for the last hour. I have NO idea why they are all so hyper, but its driving me crazy! (yeah, yeah...I know...for me its no drive, just a short walk)

I made another sale on Half! I am so excited! I need to list more books! The money is ok, not great, but better than having overflowing shelves in my room here.

I already had breakfast: coffee with cream, 3 eggs, 1 ww English muffin, with butter

Not sure what lunch will be, and dinner will be roast beef, and broccoli. I will make mashed potatoes for the rest of the group, but will try very hard to leave them alone.

I hopped on the metal monster this morning to get a point of reference...not pretty. I have gained 30 pounds since June, when my thyroid first started declining again. Ten to fifteen has been since my surgery. I am NOT happy...since it takes so long for me to lose. I am afraid it may take a miracle for me to lose it again. I think I am not going to even consider taking Phentermine again. If the only way I can lose is with drugs, which don't help you KEEP it off, it isn't worth it.

TECH: Oh! How fun to wonder if you might bump into Aragorn...we bumped into Jimmy and Rosalyn Carter once. That was pretty exciting.

TEENSY: I am glad Buddy is doing so well! I know how hard it is to keep them down. When the cat was 'fixed' he was supposed to stay calm for 12 to 24 hours. Ha! We opened his carrier and he was out of there like a shot! It never even slowed him down!

KENG: Did you have a garden last year? If so, tell me what you grew and how it did. I want to get more variety this year...and I would love to plant some Nappa if it will do ok here.

GATOR: Great job on the steps! You are an inspiration. How self disciplined of you not to whack that man of yours over the head. :) I know I would have been sorely tempted...

Ok, I need to go clean some more. later!

JACK: Hey! We were posting at the same time. Well, I took a potty break in the middle of mine... Thanks for the explanation on the wig. I hope you can ditch it soon. :) That is great that your bones are nice and dense. You don't want to shrink...each inch is another five pounds that is ok! Way to go on the treadmill! I need to use mine more. When the weather is nice like today, I do enjoy a walk around outside too, though.

MORNING EVERY BUDDY!!!

Slept pretty well last night...it was the first night that my knee didn't slip off the side of the bed....

JULIA...I go to the Doc today at 2:30 p.m. I'll let you know what he says...I'm sure he will want updated xrays to see how I'm progressing.

JACKIE...the fracture is what they call "non union" and doesn't require any surgery or a cast...I have a leg brace to wear that keeps it straight out in front of me...That's why I couldn't stay at work yesterday...it's very uncomfortable...my chair here at the computer is the ONLY one in the house that I can sit in..it's adjustable and lets me pick where it's comfortable.
My ankle is very bruised (left leg) and swollen. I've been told that it's harder to heal a bruise like this than it is a break. OUCH!!!

SUSAN....CONGRATS!!!!!! Looks like I pulled for the right team again!!!! Please let us know about your DF....

MONET>..sorry you're not feeling well....I believe we're having sympathy pain for each other....I hurled all over the sink this morning!

I've to to cut this short....I'll be back to speak to everyone else!

Meatloaf is in the oven and it is almost done. I am trying some chopped tomatoes and green chillis topping today...yum! The weather is beautiful so I am going to talk a walk today...promise!

TECH : I haven't eat tic tac for ages. I remember loving rhe orange and lemon flavour when I was a kid. Yea, it has been that long :) Looks to me you are doing very well, don't worry about little setback :) Oh Arragon...oh my, oh my...., I think i would go into hiding if I ever see him...love him in LOTR!!!

MONET : No...I do not have a veggie garden but want to start one for veggies and herbs this Spring. I am not exactly sure what I am going to plant yet but something I use on a regular basis. I might also make some min green house...well...will see :)

Got to go...

Wow I'm really behind. I should have come on yesterday evening but DH was using my computer. We've still got the rain here. Ugh. I'm tired of it and hope it goes away soon. B- buckwheat pancake, 2 eggs. L- Turkey salad broccli D-chicken breast, broccli and a salad. Don't know about a snack. I went back to sleep this morning after DH left for work at 6:30. You can tell I'm having a really lazy day. Guess I need to get in and do some house stuff.. The dishes are calling. Sorry I didn't post to everyone.....

I just finished my lunch and loved that meatloaf especially with the tomatoes and green chillies topping which added an interesting flavour to an ordinary meatloaf. I also made the meatloaf with oatmeal today for the first time..love it.I also love it when dinner is taken care of! lol.

BOB : Hope the appointment goes smooth and definitely keep us updated on how it goes.

TONI : Dh is back to work today so I have the computer all to myself...ha! ha! ha! Okay, I am being silly but it is great to be able to go online to chat with you guys. I have a kitchen that needs to be cleaned right now especially after making lunch so I can sympathize ;)

MONET : I love nappa cabbage and I eat it almost every week so I will have to do some research on how easy it is to grow. I really want a herb garden as I love fresh herbs in my daily cooking. What did you have in your garden? Are you going to add more veggies this year?

Checking in. Took the big boy to work, then went to Super Wal Mart. I HATE that place, but its the only place that I can get a few things. I got 100% ww buns for burgers and hot dogs. They did not have the trash bags I wanted. I got the mashed potatoes, and managed to find myself a pair of shoes. I also got a two year purse calendar/planner. I always need one and the same ones were twice as much at Office Max!

I just finished lunch- BBQ pork on a ww bun. The BBQ is made with low carb bbq sauce too! I got the cookie crap cleaned up and my full sheet pan washed and put away. I unloaded and loaded the dishwasher. There is still a ton to do, but it is looking better!

KENG: Last year, we had cucumbers, green beans, cherry tomatoes, Better Boy tomatoes, Amaranth (Callaloo) and yellow squash. We got collard seeds, but did not get them in soon enough, so we just skipped it. I am sorry about that, cause I love collards! The Callaloo was an experiment. It grew VERY well, but I did not like it that much. Tom did, and wants to plant it again, but I am going to push to use that space for something else. My neighbor grew some 'eightball' zucchini and said it did really well! For seeds, go to Johnny's Seeds online. Theirs are really the best. My yellow squash was incredible...people could not believe how big and hardy the plants were! I had a bumper crop of squash, as well as tomatoes. The green beans were a french variety and this year I want to plant just regular ones. I think the yield will be even better, and last years were pretty impressive. My father in law always said to plant on Good Friday, so plan to put your stuff in about then. (clarification: he was a farmer all his life, so he really knew what he was talking about! :) ) Oh, and herbs: I have sage, rosemary, basil, and mint. Watch out for the mint, it will take over the yard! I like having cilantro, and oregano too. We keep a plant of catnip for the kitties too. Its not something you use in cooking, but considered an herb. Herbs do well in pots, so if you are limited on space, try a big pot. This year, I want to add some peppers. I want some scotch bonnets, and maybe some Thai peppers. Green bell peppers do well here, but we have never had good luck with them. I am thinking of adding a few eggplants, and maybe some okra. I just don't have that big of a garden, though. Last year, we had SO many tomatoes, that I was able to take bags of them to church to share. I liked that, so maybe we will do that again.

TONI: You are awful patient letting that man monopolize your computer! I remember when we had one...and we all fought over it. Thankfully, my son and husband are computer geeks, so they built three, and we bought a laptop for my college daughter. So, we each have our own. I am spoiled now, and don't like to share!

BOB: I hope the knee is healing well! Let us know. I am hoping to hear back from you from my reply. Do you have any more thoughts?

Ok, I am going to go rest. I am feeling fatigued!

Just checking in. Worked with my student all morning and she has finished her term paper. She will hank it in tomorrow as a "rough draft" and hopefully get it back this week so she can correct any errors that the teacher finds. Then she will correct them on my computer and hand in the final copy on the due date of next Tuesday.

Am off to work out. First time in several weeks. It is good to feel good enough to work out, but I am still coughing.

My DH and I will walk again tonight. I didn't have time to walk yet today because I left right after 8:30 a.m. to pick up my student.

Good afternoon ladies....

It is a cold morning and expected to stay cold for the next week. I was hoping to get some walking in, but I don't like walking when it is only in the teens. I have to bundle up too much, and then it is uncomfortable to walk. So, I guess I will be riding my bike again for awhile. I plan on riding morning and night on Tuesday and Thursdays and riding 20 minutes plus the Circuit Training on the TBT on Mon, Wed and Fri. I have got to rev it up some to get back to losing again. My cousin has an orbital machine that is like an elliptical that I am going to borrow next week. She is getting it out of storage for me. This way I will have a few choices and hope it will make a difference.

Here is my menu for the day--

3 oz cherries before exercise.

B-- 1 egg, 1 oz cheese 1 slice WW toast, and a Lite 85.

Snack- apple

L-- Grilled chicken breast, salad with FF Caesar dressing.

Snack- orange

D-- Grilled sirloin, salad, green beans, SF pudding with lite whipped cream.

Keng-- I doubt if the scales will show a loss, but I am back on track and don't think I did too much damage over the holidays. Sure hope not anyway. I am upping my exercise for the next couple of months too. Dh is leaving in the morning to take his brother up north for the day, so I am planning some serious house cleaning. I really need to get that spurt of energy I usually get right after the holidays. Where, oh where has it gone??

Tech-- Keep your eyes open......that Viggo is a hunk!! I think I would be a blubbering idiot too if I ever ran into him. He is gorgeous!! We loved him in Hidalgo too.

Jack-k-- Yes, lets do that. I am so tired of being on and off again. I am marking the days down and I want to see a calendar of all red X's. We can do this, we just need to make up our minds and stick to it!! Sounds like you are on the right track again, keep it up!! Hope I will do as well.

Monet-- Congrats of the book sales. Sounds like the way to organize your reading materials. Keep only the ones you want and sell the rest. And extra spending money!! Isn't it amazing how much kids that age can sleep?? Bill spends more time in bed when he is home than he does awake. Or so it seems......

BOB-- Sorry that you are having such a rough time. Wish there was something I could do for you. ((((HUGS))))

Well, will check in later tonight.......

Hello my friends!!

Well, I’m on day 2 and I haven’t cheated one bit!!! I’m so proud of myself!! I have been very hungry though! I now have some inspiration to lose this fat – I booked a cruise today. We leave August 4th!! It’s a cruise where my friend’s band is part of the entertainment on the ship so we get to go to all of the private parties, etc. Also, all alcohol is included in the price! Woohoo!! It will also be our 12th anniversary while we are on the boat – so I booked a suite!! Ohh la la!! So, needless to say, I can’t go like I am I have got to lose many pounds!! You can count on my presence on the board cause I’m going to need support!!

Now, let me try to catch up!!

MONET: Thanks for getting the board up and running!! I like your challenge for the week – I’m going to do that – but not until the weekend when I have more time. I’m so motivated right now I don’t think the bad stuff will even call me. I’ve been trying to get my water in too but it makes me pee so much and it’s hard at work because we aren’t supposed to leave the kids alone in class. But, sometimes I have too or I’ll wet my pants!! I’ve gained about 40 since March – when I started all of the fertility shots and I’m so miserable! We can take it off!!! Go us!

JACK-K: Girl….I’m so sorry that your Christmas sucked – you certainly deserved a good one. The adoption process is coming along. We only have 4 classes left. We have had our first home visit and everything went great. I know that this is what I am meant to do and I’m really excited about it now. I’ll keep you posted on everything!

PANCHO: WTG on the small gain over Christmas! That’s great considering you ate what you wanted! I’m sorry did you say a size 3?!?!?! I don’t think that would go past my knee on one leg!!! HAHAHA! That is wonderful – I’m so proud of you! You are definitely an inspiration.

BOB: I hope you are feeling better today. You really need to take it easy! I am glad that you got the 3 weeks off – you really need them to heal! Hey – can you see my ticker? If so – why can’t I? I thought it was gone!

KENGJW: I’m with you on the HOT weather! It’s no wonder that we can’t get better – it gets hot and then 3 days later it’s cold!!! I’m sick of it – I really wish it would stay cold!! LOL!

FILLISE: CONGRATS on the big Auburn win!! That was a great game! I know that all of you are very happy! I on the other hand am sad that my coach – the hunky Nick Saban – has left us for the Miami Dolphins!! UGH!!! I’m not happy!!! Oh well, we’ll see how next season goes!

HEART: I’m so proud of how much weight you have lost!! You have been making progress girl!! You look great in your picture too! Keep up the great work – you know those last 20 will be the hardest so stay positive!!! You can do it!!!

GATOR: Hey girlie!!! How have you been????

TEENSY: Glad to hear that Buddy is doing OK. Poor thing must be miserable!! I know you are taking good care of him and he will be just fine!!! Keep us posted on his progress.

TECH: I’ll have to look up that guy! How neat is it that his family surrounds you!! I know that one day you will have a sighting and you will be able to contain yourself in order to hold a conversation without drooling!!! LOL!

Well, I think this kind of catches me up! It feels good to be back with my friends…I missed y’all!

OH yeah – I made a short term goal – no drinking until Mardi Gras – I ride on Feb. 7th this year. So, that should help to take some weight off!!

Well, see y’all tomorrow!!

Good morning! Its WIW...and I will NOT be getting on the metal monster this morning. I might have, except my daughter surprised us with breakfast in bed this morning. She made omelets with bacon and cheddar. She also brought us a movie to watch...Super Size Me...and some sugar free candy. It was really sweet of her...even though I had not gotten the chance to take my medications first thing! I just didn't tell her. :)

Last night, I caved on the mashed potatoes. It was too early in my recommitment to have to deal with such a big temptation. Hopefully I will do better today. I am meeting a young woman from church for lunch, and she picked an Italian place, so I will have to be careful! I am thinking I need to cut out starches, and eat more of an Atkins induction for a few weeks, just to get back on track.

FRUIT: How is that treadmill? A cruise sounds like a great incentive! Where you cruising too? I know what you mean about the leaving the kids to go potty. Once you get used to it, the excessive peeing will calm down...

BOB: <<hug>> Try to enjoy your time off. Being a basically lazy person, I love having time off where I don't have to do anything. Make sure you are getting plenty of calcium and vitamin C to help that bone heal!

Ok, that is it for me! I am going to crawl back in bed and sleep some more!

Good Morning!

I was down another pound this morning so that makes 3 - yippee! I'll have to update my ticker tonight - do y'all do that every time you lose a pound? Just wondering...

MONET: The omelet sounds yummy!!! We will be cruising to Cozumel and back - it's a short trip 4 nights 5 days so we won't make many stops. I'm excited about it - we've never been on a cruise before. And...we'll be with our friends so it should be extra fun!

Well, lemme get ready for school - see y'all tonight!!

Woopie I lost 5 lbs. this week. I'm on my way!!!! But I am so craving sugar. I know it will take a week or two to get back to normal but oooooo eeeeeee.

Monet- What a treat breakfast in bed. You've got a really sweet daughter.
Watch those taters they'll get ya everytime.

Fruit- Congradulations on the weight loss. I think you have to update the ticker everytime you lose weight.

Well I've got to post this and see if I did the ticker right. Will be back later.

Good Wednesday Morning

It is still raining here. But at least it is warm (66 today). I guess I shouldn't complain, it could be snow.

I felt yucky last night, but I made myself get the treadmill in. Didn't work out with wts as I was sore and wanted to give it another day. Will do that tonight.

Susan, your Tigers should be no 2 after that romping last night.

Bob, 3 weeks???? Plus you are immobile. I would go nuts. Don't let that depression lead to eating. Hang in there. Just think of all the time you will be able to spend with us.

Toni: Sure wish you all would keep that rain there. I'm sick of it. It has rained for a a week and continuing until tomorrow. I guess it could be worse, it could be cold (it's 66 today) and then we would have tons of snow.

Ken, that meatloaf sounds good with the chilis on top. My family loves meatloaf. Do you use breadcrumbs in yours?

Monet, what brand of buns do you get at Wal-mart. I can't find any ww buns in town. My niece brings them from Maryland, but then you have to freeze them. I wish I could find some here. Good luck at lunch. Chicken Marsala is about the safest thing there.

Gator, Hope your student gets a A.

Teensy, I like your calendar idea. Think I will adopt it too. Plus I will record my exercise on it too.

Missy, Wow what great motivation. I know you can do it too. I didn't know you could get a cruise with all the alcohol included. That's what I didn't like about the one we went on. Our bar bill was out the roof. Congrats on the 3 pounds. One day at a time.

I weighed this morning and I was the same as I was 12-10-04. I was actually down 2 more pounds last week after being sick. So I will start from today 168. Want to get rid of 25 more. Think I will go back to posting stats. That keeps it in front of me all the time.

Got to get ready for a meeting. Be back later. Have a great OP day.

JACKIE: The ww buns are Cobblestone Mills. They carry their bread at Publix, but not the ww buns! They are good too! They have hot dog and hamburger. If you can't find them, maybe they will order them and start carrying them for you? I know WM is not very good on that kind of thing, but it might be worth a try!

TONI: Way to go! Congrats on that loss! I know you feel encouraged!

FRUIT: Yay for your loss! Three pounds is a great start! Keep up the great work!

KENG: I am working on my garden seed order...Its so tempting to over buy! Tom won't let me plant the nappa cabbage! :( I did talk him into a plant or two of the eight ball zucchini though! I ordered Thai basil too! I can never find it when I need it...and basil is easy to grow.

I went back to bed after my earlier post, and just woke up. I have to go find some caffiene! :) I may even go to Starbucks!

Well, Southern California has snow and I don't!! Looks like it's going to be another mild winter...never a happy medium. I've lost a pound!!

BOB... :grouphug: Three weeks will be up before you know it!!

Good morning ladies!

The sun is finally shining thru those fogs. I believe the temp would be nice and warm as well. I wish dh would go change the tires for his truck soon so he can leave my minivan behind. The last 3 days, I could have taken Jess to the park in the late afternoon as it was nice and warm. I know he still worries about me driving on my own, I know I would too :) I am definitely getting much more comfortable in driving around, only to places where I am familiar with at this moment but I am getting to know more roads everyday.

My menu for today :

Breakfast : 1 ww waffle, 1.5 scrambled eggs (0.5 too Jess...lol) and milk.

Snack : None or fruit salad.

Lunch : Linguini and clams (saw this yummy recipe with anchovies on Food Network so I am going to make it today), baked basa fish and green salad.

Snack : Fruit salad and nuts.

Dinner : Should be leftovers...either from lunch or leftovers of meatloaf (meatloaf sandwich with spinach)

Some replies :

MONET : Wow...that was a lot of veggies in your garden. Thanks for all your tips. Hope I get my garden started this year. Breakfast in bed this morning? Wow...what a sweet dd. You and Tom definitely deserve to be pampered!

GATOR : With your help, I am sure your student will do well in her papers.

TEENSY : The weather here is the opposite, it has been extremely warm here. Two days ago, I actually wore shorts when I was outside in the yard. It was too hot. I believe today will be warm as well. I am not complaining either...enjoy the warm winter while it lasts :) Love your healthy and balance menu! Energy, what is that? lol. I am 30 and I know my energy level is worst than a 70 year old women..shame, shame!

BOB : I know 3 weeks sound very long especially when you are not mobile but your body really need it to heal. So...take this opportunity to rest not just the injured parts
of your body but your whole body as well. Rest and eat well and hopefully this year you will have less sickness to deal with.

FRUIT : WTG on staying legal and your 3 lns loss! That is amazing. Keep making those great decision!! Well done! A cruise, what a motivation! We are here for you and we know you can do it!! I love the cool weather too...I will start to complain if the weather gets too hot and humid. We definitely have strange warm weather in winter this year.

TONI : 5 lbs!!!!!!! Woo Hooo!!!! I am so happy of you and definitely proud of you. Keep making those great decisions!!

JACK-K : I just love your determination in exercising. I will have to remember you everytime I give myself exercuses not to exercise. As for the meatloaf, I used oatmeal yesterday for the first time. Previously, I used breadcrumbs but thought I would try oatmeal this time. It came out pretty good. The chopped tomatoes with green chillis topping really made the meatloaf more interesting I think. Dh likes some sort of sauce for his meatloaf so I thought I would create one. The "sauce" didn't come out as saucy but still good. I think meatloaf sandwich taste much better. I added some saute spinach in my spinach and it was delish!

Got to go...check in later.

Good Morning everyone!

I was still at 122#'s this morning for WIW. AND, I did not go to the gym this morning. We had a violent storm last night, even a tornado warning (which never touched down..thank God). We have a wash that you have to pass to get to our home, and it was running like a river last night. I didnt' want to deal with that at 4 a.m. this morning, or any of the other flooding all over the valley. So, I will work out on Fri & Sat, and that will make 3 days this week.

My eating has been good; I made a big pot of Taco soup (kinda like chili) and will eat on that this week. I have to get more of the fruits and veggies in though.

Lane and I will be leaving in a few hours to go by Trader Joes, and by my sisters and mom's houses.

Monet: We appreciate all you do for the board. Deb starting the board does not determine the success of the board; I was just wondering where she has disappeared to this time. So sorry to hear about your DD's accident; I hope she wasn't hurt. Just think how many things you throw out when you are cleaning...at least you can make a little bit of $ cleaning out those books. Sorry to hear about the scale...please try to stay motivated, and know that this way of eating is more than about the weight....it's about the health of your body, overall :) .

BOB: Hope you are feeling well enough to drive that new car soon. Enjoy your time off work.

Ken: Enjoy your shopping spree!! A lot of the Jr. depts sell short length pants. I am 5'4", and the shorts are usually too short, but the average ones are a tad long. I have to get the average length and wear a little bit of a heel usually. Some fit good enough with tennis shoes, depending on the brand. Most of the dept. stores have petite sections too, which is where you probably always have to shop.

Fillise: How did your DF's heart cath go??? Those pedometers are a great way to keep yourself moving. My goal when I wear mine is a minumum of 10,00 steps, but I usually shoot for 15,000.

Heart: Sounds like you are busy and having fun (ha). I am sure you cannot wait to get all settled into your new home.

Gator: Glad you are feeling better. I hope your DH feels better soon. Did you take Acidophilus with your antibiotics? If not, you may want to get some now and start taking. I had a possible tooth infection not too long ago, and the dentist wanted to put me on antibiotics. I called my homeo doctor, and he told me to take acidophilus during the antibiotic treatment and up to a month after (to replace the good bacteria in the body). I finished my antibiotic a few days ago, but will take the acidophilus until the end of this month. It feels good to get back to walking, eh? I need to strap my ped. back on.

Fruit: One day at a time!!! Keep up the good work. If that cruise is not motivation, I don't know what is. It sounds lovely!!

Teensy: So glad your 'baby' is recovering so quickly. We do amazing things for our furbabies. Our Golden Retriever somehow lost a chunk out of the bottom of her paw pad, and she keeps biting and licking it, and she is not doing well. We have to keep it medicated and keep a sock taped on her, and keep her muzzle on. It is so tough, and she thinks she is being punished. I can't wait until it heals and she can be back to normal. Keep up the good work staying OP. It sounds like you have got a good workout routine planned.

Tech: Tic-tacs are full of sugar, but they are so tiny that I am sure during the course of the day, it won't make much difference. What a fun story about Viggo. I am not a big Lord of the Rings fan, but can understand the excitement. My dd goes to a private school, so we see a lot of that kind of stuff. One of the kids in her class has a dad who did the stage setting for Lord of the Rings, and a lot of other movies. One of the moms does the advertising for the Harlem Globetrotters. One of the dads is a professional baseball player for the New York Yankees.....But, we have to remember, we are all people and we are all equal. The only thing that separates them from us is MONEY  ;) .

Jack-K: Way to get that exercise in; I hope you can meet those goals this week...that's a lot of exercise...you go, girl!! Good job staying on track. You are definately one of those people that when you commit, you commit and it takes a lot to get you to eat anything off-plan. You can do it again, and you will lose that remaining weight. Glad your bones are healthy and strong...that's what working out does for you.

Toni: Congrats on the 5#'s!!! Keep up the great work!

Lane just said to me...."Do you want to hold me?" I said, "of course I do." She said, "Well then come get me!!!"

So, I gotta go...get her.

I'll check in later.

Take care,

MORNING EVERY BUDDY!!!

My evening in bed helped my mood a lot....I say....TO HELL WITH DEPRESSION.....THAT'S WHY I TAKE PAXIL!!!!!

HERE'S A LITTLE HUMOR TO START YOUR DAY!

Sunday Morning Sex

Upon hearing that her elderly
grandfather had just passed away, Katie went
straight to her grandparent's house to
visit her 95 year old grandmother and
comfort her. When she asked how her
grandfather had died, her grand-mother
replied, "He had a heart attack while we
were making love on Sunday morning."

Horrified, Katie told her grandmother
that 2 people nearly 100 years old
having sex would surely be asking for
trouble. "Oh no, my dear," replied
granny. "Many years ago, realizing our
advanced age, we figured out the best
time to do it was when the church bells
would start to ring. It was just the
right rhythm for us. Nice and slow and even.

Nothing too strenuous, simply in on the
Ding and out on the Dong."

She paused to wipe away a tear, and
continued, "he'd still be alive if the ice
cream truck hadn't come along."

JACKIE...I'm not totally emobile...I have an emobilizer on my right leg to keep it straight...to keep my knee from bending...I can prop it up right here at the computer and be comfy! SO BRING ON THE 3fc's PORN SITE!!!! I'm HOME AND I CAN LOOK AT IT!!! Have you tried the sprouted buns? They are a little expensive, but oh so good! The same company that makes Ezekel Bread...

MISSY....MUCH BETTER TICKER....I think I'll change mine....if...there is an orange one....I had to weigh at the Doc yesterday and I was at 251 lbs I'VE LOST MORE WEIGHT!!!! WITHOUT EVEN TRYING!!! And that was thru the holidays!

NAT>..I'm going to be down to 122 lbs with you before I know it....of course, I would look very anorexic!!! Thanks for the good wishes...I drove to the Doc yesterday...I just keep off the main roads!

JULIA....OH MY GAWD!!! Eating healthy is what brought on this injury! I had gone to Whole Foods and we were headed to the car when I fell! But I'm hooked on scrambled eggs and toast...had it for supper last night and I'm getting ready to have some more now! I have lost my egg poacher...can't find it anywhere...

TECH...do you have one of these "magic eye" kinds of mouse? I had the old kind from years ago and finally got tired of what you're talking about. Went to Circuit City and spent $12 and got the infra red kind..I don't have the cordless...it's still hooked to my computer...but I love it!
Thanks for the hugs....I'll need all I can get!

MONET....OH MY GAWD!!! Are you going to be overwhelmed with TOMATOES AGAIN????? Hope to partake of some of that garden this summer when SUSAN and BOB come to SPA MONET!!!!

Hope I didn't miss anyone....

Just got in from Publix. I found the trash bags and small bags I was looking for there on the shelf...Wally World did not have them! grrr. Another reason to hate WM.

I ran into a friend at the store. Young guy, on staff at church. Got to hug his neck, and chat for a minute. I love mothering all the young folks at church. :)

My young friend from church called this morning to cancel our lunch because she was sick. I think because of that, I am going to continue with my idea of doing a kind of 'induction' and drop starches and really limit what I eat to get back on track. So far, so good. All I have had was the omelet and two cups of coffee with cream. I even left off the sweetener in the coffee! I am feeling encouraged about that, since I have made it half the day now. :) (of course, its noon here, and I slept until 10! )

PANCHO: That was so cute...do you want to hold me?... Made me chuckle. Enjoy your baby...they grow up into teens WAY too soon!

KENG: I always use oatmeal in my meatloaf. That is what my mother used. Sometimes, I even throw in some oat bran! Why not? Then they all wonder why meatloaf causes the rumbles....tee hee.

TECH: I am sorry your mouse was giving your problems...esp. before you got to reply to ME!!

BOB: You were posting while I was talking on the phone in the middle of posting! Come on! You and Susan are more than welcome. I can kick one of the kids out so you have a place to sleep! ;) By the way, we are making plans for vacation...will probably be in Sarasota early March and may stay as long as a week! I do want to head down to Ft. Myers Beach, or Naples, but we will spend a good amount of our two weeks in Sarasota. If you meet up with us early on, and like us, you can meet us multiple times! Ain't that grand???

hey, BOB!! I have one of those mouses (mice?) that has a cord, but doesnt' have a roller ball. Don't know what kind it is, but its about to become the smashed kind before long!! Meanwhile, I'm getting acquainted with my tab, arrow and enter keys to get around...

Regarding poached eggs...I have them all the time and I don't use an egg poacher. I just crack open the egg and put it in the water free-form. My husband bought me a poacher and I hated it...I use it for a candle holder now. Anyhow...if you put the egg in the water, you just have to have a metal slotted spoon to scoop it out after a minute or so...and you have to skim the white foam off to find it. :) Give it a try!! The egg just wont be neat and tidy like it is with a poacher is all...kind of all over the place. But tastes just the same...

Tab, tab, tab!!

Me again...just looking for something else to do other than the post-Christmas cleaning of the house. Anything for a distraction!!

HI MONET!! Sure hope things are better for you than they were during and around Christmas. Few things are as depressing as a depressing Christmas!!

Just had to pop in again...my mouse was working again for a minute, but has again taken leave. I've been busy lately with a pc game I got my daughter...it's supposed to be for girls 10 and up and since she'll be 11 in May, thought it'd be perfect...has anyone else tried the Nancy Drew mystery games? Sooooo cool. And addicting if you like to solve puzzles. I got my daughter Message in a Haunted Mansion and sat fixated at the puter till I solved it. My daughter was freaked out because of spooky sounds...some sleuth SHE is LOL!! So fun...I got a $20 gift card to Walmart from my mom, so I bought Secret of the Scarlet Hand and just solved it yesterday (after having to unplug and replug in my friggen mouse a hundred times!! May or may not have something to do with its current performance level!!). If any of you guys are Nancy Drew fans...or were when you were kids...you'll love these games. They have a phone in the games so you can call Bess and George or the Hardy Boys and others for hints, tips and clues or just advice. Sooo cool. BOB...might want to really consider since you'll be layed up for a while...:) Will really help the time go by!!

Getting cold out...down to 18. My sister in Rochester said they're under a winter storm watch, but that's three hours west and south of me...will have to check the weather channel...MAYBE IT'LL SNOW!! YAY!!

Well, back to scrubbing the playdoh out of my carpet (@*%&@^&$&^#&!!!!)

C-yas!! Kris

ps...thank heavens for SHIFT+tab for those times when you over tab to a spot and have to back up!!

The rain just keeps coming. I'm cold as always. But I did get the house cleaned. And I'm right on track today. Wish I would get on the treadmill. Hopefully next week I'll get motivated for it. But of course I have to ponder on it first. I've got a new pedometer so maybe I'll get it hooked on and take off. A friend of mine has put a bunch of gym stuff in her basement and shes going to let a bunch of ladies use it. It will probably start next week. I hope so. B- peanut butter toast S-pistachios L-homemade soup S-yogurt D- loin chops, broccli, salad.

Jackie- Hope you don't get this weather. Its about 38 here now and supposed to get colder. I hope we don't get ice.

Monet- I love seed buying. I still love looking through the seed catalogs even though I can't put much in. But sure want to have my herbs and stripey tomatoes.

tech- I hate when the mouse goes kaput!!! I just got a new cordless logitech one and I love it...

Julia- Thanks for the encouragement. How do you make your fruit salad? I'm hungry for some...

Pancho- Taco soup sounds so good. And what a day for it....

Bob- Hope you're doing good today....And that knee isn't giving you to much trouble....

Well time for a nap.... I'm sleepy and cold so guess its time to roll up in a blanket with my little dog and take a nap....

BOB--the 3FC weight ticker can be found under "3FC features" in the bar at the very top of this page. Just click and a pop-down menu will show up giving you several options, one of which is a ticker.

I just got home from the chiropractor. I had a catch in my lower back, and now it is all fixed. I just need a little time with an ice pack to relieve the muscle spasm. I have not walked at all today, have less than 1000 steps. So, I'll try to get out later.

Went to work today at the Crisis Preg. Center. Things were very slow and I met with just one client who came in for diapers, and talked with one woman on the phone who wants information on an abortion. :( I hope she will show up tomorrow like she said she would.

BOB & TECH: I poach eggs all the time too. I just fill my Calphalon 8" saute pan with water and drop the egg in carefully...it holds up to six. I use organic eggs, so they tend to stick together better than the plain old ones. You don't have to put vinegar in the water...that is for hard boiled eggs to make the shells nice and prepare them for colors for Easter Eggs! ;)

TECH: Congrats on the new mouse! I have a Microsoft cordless mouse and keyboard. My son, the geek, bought them for me. Very nice...I COULD lay on the bed and play on the computer...unfortunately, the monitor is only 17" and I just could not READ it from there!

BOB: Even if you are still wearing the immoblizer, we can still have some fun. You can stretch out in the back seat and direct! Tom is used to back seat drivers! (I on the other hand, am not! So if I am driving, don't get critical on me! ;) )

TONI: Ooohhh! Stripey tomatoes? What variety are they? Sounds like fun! I am amazed at the varieties Johnny's carries! They have about ten heirloom types.

GATOR: I hope your back is better! Don't over do it walking...let the back muscles heal! I hope and pray that lady comes in to the center tomorrow. Have you ever heard of Women 4 Women? I know the founder and her husband.

Hello everyone!

Another day behind me with no cheats. It’s SO HARD!!! But, I’m going to do it! I will not go on this cruise like I am….no way!!!

TONI: WTG on the 5 pounds!! That’s great! I hope to follow in your footsteps!!

JACK-K: I’m not sure if they ever offer the all inclusive thing on any other trips but I know that every year that they go on the band cruise alcohol is included. It’s a great deal too – for just an outside cabin it’s $780 per person. An inside cabin is cheaper. I upgraded just cause I wanted too! I wanted to feel special for my anniversary!! I just talked to Ashley on the phone and I’m trying to get her back on the board and posting. She has been very busy though…..so hopefully we will see her soon!

TECH: WTG on the lost pound! We had snow on Christmas day here in South Louisiana. It was neat – the last time we had snow was in 1989! So, we were all out there like kids playing in it – sick or not!! Now, not much accumulated on the ground and it was mostly ice but it was fun!

KENG: I must have missed something – why does he get nervous when you drive?? Are you new to the area or driving?

PANCHO: That Taco soup sounds yummy! Would you post the recipe on the board? I would love to try it.

BOB: WTG on 251!!! You are at my first goal weight!! LOL!! Keep up the great work. As for the ticker – click on the user CP button at the top of the page – that’s where I found it. I chose the second set of numbers – it worked fine for me!

GATOR: Hope your back feels better soon! Tell that girl that you have a friend in Louisiana that will be certified in 4 weeks to adopt that baby!!!!

Well, let me run for now – gotta get supper cooked!!

Afternoon ladies.

I am killing time before getting some pizza crust going in the bread maker. Didn't do much today besides pay bills and clean house. I finished getting the window clings off and washing the windows. All that is left is my snowmen and I plan on leaving them up for awhile longer. I am burning a candle that my Sister from Nevada put in our goodie bag. I can't believe how good it smells. It fills up the whole house. I hate not being able to open windows in the winter. Thank God for Fabreze and candles. The label on this candle says ANGEL WINGS as the fragrance.......it sure it good.

Well, I weighed in today. I am officially 4 pounds up from the holidays. Was 6 pounds up last week, but TOM was here, so I am sure that was the extra 2 pounds. I am not going to be bummed......I did this to myself so I just have to undo it!! I am eating legal and less, and exercising more so I hope to have it gone soon. Then I need to work on the weight gain from this dreaded menopause. It is the worst....feeling bloated all the time......

Here is my menu--

B-- 1/2 c Fiber One, 1/4 c FF milk, 1 packet Splenda, 1 tsp cinnamon, Lite 85 yogurt.

L-- apple 1/2 hour before 1 oz nuts, Lite 85 yogurt.

snack -- orange

Dinner will be pizza with ww crust, salad and 1/2 c sf pudding.

I am going back to not eating anything after 8 pm too. This seemed to work well for me before.

Monet-- Wow, breakfast in bed....how do you rate?? I am lucky if I get to sleep in bed!! Lately with Buddy's leg.....I am up at all hours when he decides that he wants to go out. He is not supposed to be let out without being on a leash, so that he can't take off running or jumping. Bacon and cheddar are one of my favorite omelets.

Fruit-- You are doing fantastic!! Keep up the good work and you will be looking lovely for that cruise. I am jealous......I have always wanted to go on a cruise, but my dh is just not into that sort of thing. And definitely not into letting me go alone!! LOL.

Toni-- WTG!! 5 pounds is terrific. Hang in there and those sugar cravings will pass.

Jack-k-- The calendar idea works well for me because I can see my progress. I hope to see it all in red X's at the end of the month. I record my exercise on my daily meal outlines and post it here. 66 degrees sounds heavenly. We are only in the low 20's today for the high!! There isn't any snow, but I can't stand the cold. I would love to be walking somemore, but......too cold for me!!

Tech-- Congrats on the loss. We have very little snow here too this year.....just a dusting. I would rather have a foot of snow with 30 degree temps than to have no snow and 20 degree temps.

Keng-- The more you drive.....the more comfortable you will become. It is good for you to get out and drive. Soon you will be an old pro!! Enjoy that warm weather.....I am envious!!

Pancho-- Acording to the news alot of places this year are having strange weather. There are ice storms in Kansas, and snow in Phoenix!! I know what you mean about your puppy thinking he is being punished. Buddy is used to sleeping on the foot of our bed, and now I can't let him jump up there. He looks at me with those sad brown eyes and I just want to cry. I have been sleeping on the little futon bed that Bill uses when he is home. (It is in my computer room.) I help him step up on to it, and then help him down so that he doesn't put any weight on the leg. When we first got him home he had one of those lamp shade things on his head so that he couldn't lick at the incision. We had to take it off, as he couldn't navigate with it on. He is cross eyed, and was having a terrible time. When he would put his head down the collar would hit the floor and stop him and he would almost end up A$$ over T- kettle. I had to laugh, but I felt so sorry for him. He hasn't been licking at his incision at all, so I have left it off. We have at least 3 weeks before he can go out by himself. Dh took him out at 4 this am when he got up, bless his heart.

BOB-- Glad that you are in better spirits today. Here's to nothing but blue skies ahead!!

Quick question for y'all...

can we have carrots? It seems like I remember reading something about them not being so bad after all....is that right?

The deal on carrots has been decided that they are filled with lots of water, so you can have them in moderation. I would say a couple times a week, one large carrot or a handful of small carrots would be fine... ;)

Good evening....

It's over 10pm now and I am supposed to take shower earlier but somehow haven't done so but at least my kitchen is in order...lol. On the way to the shower, I decided to stop here, can you believe it? LOL.

I felt so unproductive, especially more so the last 2 days...there are so much laziness not just with my responsibility to keep the house clean but also with my daughter and myself. Do you know why I love watching "What Love To Wear" on TLC? If you have watched that show before, you will know that it is about what not to wear...LOL, mostly about people who needs to learn how to dress better for their body shape and what to avoid. I love that show so much because I love how the end result of how the people looks and what they realized/learnt at the end of the show. At the same time, I can relate so much to some of the people that were called to the show. I know I certainly qualify to be one of the candidates because of the clothes I am always in these days. The fact is, I know how to dress and love to dress but that was something I forgotten to do since I became a mother. Now, you will see me in my usual sweat shirt and pants, uncombed hair that I usually just bundle them up, pale face etc. It is like I lost my motivation to dress up or something but I love clothes!! If you look at me now you will never believe that I once was trendy, well-dress and have clothes that go together...lol. I think the only time I actually put more effort to dress up and do some make-up is on Sunday. Other days are just blehhhh!! I need to change, not just in the outside but also from the inside. I am feeling fine, I am happy and thankful for my life, my marriage but I lack "motivation" or is it "passion" for myself. I need to rethink about what I do everyday because I never know if tomorrow will come. I need to do that or else I will just take life for granted and let it pass by everyday without doing anything that I felt needed to be done or put effort in things that matters. I need to treat each day as if it is important. I need to be a good role model to my daughter!! I know I am babbling but I feel so good after typing this. It also helps me to see what I need to do. I just know I am not living my lives the way I should...I float thru my days instead of deciding what I want to do and actually accomplish them even small things like getting my bed made. It's like, ohhh, there is always tomorrow. No, there isn't always.

Okay...I am comtemplating if I should post this, seems like too much details but then again, I am not ashamed of my weaknesses. Sharing has definitely help me feel more close to every one of you. I don't think I have time to do any replies now since I really need to take my long overdue shower before the day passes but will check in tomorrow.

Goodnight.

Good morning!

I was going to sleep later, but as Tom slipped out of the room this morning, a kitten slipped in unnoticed. She was so delighted to have gotten in, she jumped up on me in the bed and started ecstatic kneading. It kind of ruined the going back to sleep thing for me, so I just got up and fixed some coffee and breakfast, and now, here I am.

Breakfast was three eggs scrambled with cheese, and coffee with cream.

Dinner last night was tilapia and brussel sprouts. I woke up starving...and three pounds lighter than yesterday. I am guessing some of the 'not pretty' I found on Monday was water. I honestly don't care, as long as the numbers keep going down.

Tonight, I have the first meeting to plan the arts festival. I am looking forward to it. I am supposed to have dinner, and at this point, I still have not decided what I am going to take! I may just take rolls and deli meats. Someone mentioned Mexican...so I might make enchiladas, or take taco fixings. I hate when I can't decide!

FRUIT: Way to go on another day! Carrots are ok...especially raw..if you don't over do them. I eat them as a snack a lot. I like the baby ones that are all peeled and ready to pop in my mouth. I get them, and some cauliflower and celery for veggies and dip as a snack. I don't remember reading about a limit, but I do remember that they should be raw, or crisp tender. The longer they are cooked, the higher the GI.

KENG: If you feel like sharing, that is great. That is what this board is all about, I believe. Weight loss is a journey of self discovery. I have to ponder what you said, as I am NOT a clothes person. I wear the same kind of clothes...knit top from Wal Mart and either denim capris or knit pants...all the time! I never was very interested in fashion. My daughter considers herself the fashion police around here...its always a lot of fun when she wants to 'dress' me. Hey, tell me how you fix your fish. Didn't you mention you steam it? I would love to hear how you do that. I have had really good steamed fish both in Asian cuisines, and Jamaican cuisine. I fixed tilapia last night, just sauteed it in a little oil with some lemon pepper on it, but I want to have more prep methods to try.

TEENSY: About the breakfast in bed...my guess is that she either felt guilty, or missed us since we never see her. She works from 4 to 12, and we are in bed when she gets home. Typical teen, she stays up until 4, goes to bed, and sleeps all day. She actually got up at 2 yesterday and we went to the shopping center near us. It was the first time I had spent more than five minutes with her in over a week! I vote for guilt though, because when I got up, the kitchen was clean as a whistle, and she had done a few other chores. She and her father had a disagreement, and he had to email her to explain, since he never sees her! She got the email when she got home that night, cleaned the kitchen and brought us breakfast... I hated guilt trips when I was a teen, but I can see now why my mother used them! They are SO effective!

Good Morning Ladies,

Hope everyone is feeling chipper today!

I did get my treadmill in last night but not my wts. My sister came over to show us how to use the carpet scrubber so I was rushed for time. Then we had to leave for a meeting. Maybe tonigt before we go out to dinner with friends.

Monet, I don't think it has anything to do with ordering the ww buns for me, it's we don't have a distributor that makes the ww buns in the area. The closets I found was in Bowling Green. You would think with all the low carb craze and the increase of ww bread someone would make buns. Your hugging that guy at the store made me think about a couple of younger ladies at church who like to hug my DH b/c he smells so good. Good idea on the induction phase. you can do this.

Techwife, be thankful for the mild winter. I am. It has been in the 60's all this week. I wish it would stay like this until summer. I guess I need to move south. Congrats on the 1 lb loss. Nancy Drew, I remember her. Read every book. You didn't sound old enough to know about her.

Ken, Your menues always fascinate me. You are such an elaborate cook, espcially lunches. It's not determination that keeps me exercising, it is I know dieting alone does not help me at this point. I really need the exercise more than the diet. I think you are a beautiful person on the inside (can't comment on the outside sicne I have never seen you, but I am sur eyou are very pretty). Sometimes it takes a little work to think of ourselves, especially with little ones around. When I was off, I would get up and shower first thing and put on my makeup. Granted I only wore sweats and pj's but I still fixed my hair and face. I didn't want to look sick. Plus w/o makeup is a scarry site. Just take baby steps and do something for you every day.

Nat I think you were wise in not going out this morning in that storm. Running water can really be dangerous. I'm sure you will get all your exercise in somehow.

Bob, glad youa re able to get around some. Congrats on losing that wt. Now just keep it going.

Toni, It is colder here today, but still 41 and still raining. It is supposed to stop sometime today but start again tomorrow night. It sounds like fun going to your friend's house to use her equipment. Working out with other people makes it more fun. Congrats on the 5 lbs.

Gator, hope your back is feeling better. I got to get my pedometer figured out and get it on.

Missy, :cheer: good for you another day behind you just makes it a little easier. You can do this. You will be so saavy on the cruise. Funny, I was just thinking about Ashley on the way to work today. Hope she can join us again.

Teensy, I know what you mean about the wt gain from menapause. I take tamoxifen and it makes me retain water. So if I don't take 3 water pills daily, the scale is up 2-3 pounds the next day. That is more reason to exercise and eat right.

Country, where are you?

Got to go find some breakfast. I have been waiting to eat when I get to work. holds me over longers. Trying not to eat between meals. The scale was up 2 lbs this morning, but I expected it since I did not get to take my wate pills at all yesterday.

Have a great day.

BOB, I selected the middle option. I normally use the ticker.com weight ticker because I like their choices. There I have to omit part of the htm code to make it come out right. But on the 3FC I just copied and pasted the whole code on the middle option. The one that says BBCode (Forum Code) I copied the entire htm in the box, beginning with img and ending with . Try and see if it works.

I got up early and my DH and I got 2 miles in already today. So far I have 5500 steps. I had a nice healthy breakfast: soft boiled egg on a bed of chopped cooked spinach. WW toast with a touch of butter and apricot no-sugar jam, and 1/2 grapefruit. I think I might start keeping a food diary today to keep myself a little more faithful in how I eat. I just want to eat healthily. I had a couple of pieces of chocolate candy yesterday at the Pg. center. Someone brought in a box that they probably got for Xmas, and I was weak-willed and indulged. I love chocolate.

I ended up not walking at all yesterday. So I had virtually no steps. My back feels much better today, and I consider my chiropractor a magician. One trip there just works wonders for me.

I hope everyone has a great SB day. It will be in the 80's here in sunny Fla. today. Ho hum, another day in paradise. :) I think we will work in the yard this weekend. My butterfly garden needs weeding and we need to do a little sprucing up before spring comes. I have a bunch of blue and orange pansies that we want to plant.

Hey all!

I'm home in Auburn now. My DF had his heart cath on Tuesday and they found two blockages. They will be putting in stints tomorrow. He was relieved that he gets to avoid the by pass! I had to come home and get back to work. I wish I could have stayed, but my clients were starting to get antsy.

Needless to say the mood in Auburn is WE'VE BEEN SCREWED! We have been saying all along that OK didn't deserve to be # 2 and I guess they proved us right. Folks the SEC isn't getting any respect out there is the big wide world. But anyway I'm thrilled with the 13-0 season!

I'm also thrilled to be through the holidays and back on the wagon. Lent will be coming up soon too. . .

I hope everyone has a good OP day! I'll try to get back later.

I just had to fly by here and crow a bit. Its not that big a deal, but to me it is. I decided I did not care if I was still suffering from swelly belly from the surgery, I was just plain sick of stretch pants! I put on my jeans, and while they are not totally comfortable, I feel like a real person again! :)

MORNING EVERY BUDDY!!!

It feels SO GOOD to be able to post to y'all during the day! I know at work,
they have now totally blocked any and all internet sites and a pop up appears and tells you the you've been report to IS and your Manager...luckily, that hadn't happened to me before my accident....

Here's your morning giggle:

WOMAN'S PERFECT BREAKFAST
She's sitting at the table with her gourmet coffee.
Her son is on the cover of the Wheaties box.
Her daughter is on the cover of Business Week.
Her boyfriend is on the cover of Playgirl.
And her husband is on the back of the milk carton.

WOMEN'S REVENGE
"Cash, check or charge?" I asked, after folding items the woman wished
to purchase. As she fumbled for her wallet I noticed a remote control for
a television set in her purse.
"So, do you always carry your TV remote?" I asked.
"No," she replied, "but my husband refused to come shopping with me,
and I figured this was the most evil thing I could do to him legally."

UNDERSTANDING WOMEN (A MAN'S PERSPECTIVE)
I know I'm not going to understand women.
I'll never understand how you can take boiling hot wax pour it onto
your upper thigh, rip the hair out by the roots, and still be afraid of a spider.

MARRIAGE SEMINAR
While attending a Marriage Seminar dealing with communication, Tom
and his wife Grace listened to the instructor, "It is essential that husbands
and wives know the things that are important to each other."
He addressed the man, "Can you describe your wife's favorite flower?"
Tom leaned over, touched his wife's arm gently and whispered, "It's
Pillsbury, isn't it?
The rest of the story gets rather ugly, so I'll stop right here.

CIGARETTES AND TAMPONS
A man walks into a pharmacy and wanders up and down the aisles.
The sales girl notices him and asks him if she can help him. He answers
that he is looking for a box of Tampons for his wife. She directs him down the
correct aisle. A few minutes later, he deposits a huge bag of cotton balls
and a ball of string on the counter.
She says, confused, "Sir, I thought you were looking for some
tampons for your wife? He answers, " You see, it's like this, yesterday, I sent my
wife to the store to get me a carton of cigarettes, and she came back with a
tin of tobacco and some rolling papers; cause it's sooo-ooo--oo-ooo much
cheaper.
So, I figure if I have to roll my own ........... so does she.

( I figure this guy is the one on the milk carton! )

WIFE VS. HUSBAND
A couple drove down a country road for several miles, not saying a
word. An earlier discussion had led to an argument and neither of them wanted to
concede their position. As they passed a barnyard of mules, goats, and
pigs, the husband asked sarcastically, "Relatives of yours? "Yep," the
wife replied, "in-laws."

WORDS
A husband read an article to his wife about how many words women use a
day... 30,000 to a man's 15,000.
The wife replied, "The reason has to be because we have to repeat
everything to men...
The husband then turned to his wife and asked, "What?"

CREATION
A man said to his wife one day, "I don't know how you can be so
stupid and so beautiful all at the same time."
The wife responded, "Allow me to explain. God made me beautiful so
you would be attracted to me; God made me stupid so I would be attracted
to you!"

WHO DOES WHAT
A man and his wife were having an argument about who should brew
the coffee each morning.
The wife said, "You should do it, because you get up first, and
then we don't have to wait as long to get our coffee."
The husband said, " You are in charge of cooking around here and
you should do it, because that is your job, and I can just wait for my
coffee."
Wife replies, "No, you should do it, and besides, it is in the
Bible that the man should do the coffee."
Husband replies, "I can't believe that, show me."
So she fetched the Bible, and opened the New Testament and
showed him at the top of several pages, that it indeed says..........
"HEBREWS"

MONET...do you pan sear or bake your talapia? It's a good fish..mild and I like it...thanks for the poached egg seminar...I'll try that...I still haven't found my poacher....Look for an email in a minute....I talked to Debbie last night!

JULIA...with that description, you're now REQUIRED to post a picture!

JACKIE...ya know....the pain that I keep Bit*hing about it bad, but then I stop and think about what you've been through, and I feel better. You're a trooper, and I know you've had a lot of bad days, but you keep plugging along. YOU'RE MY HERO!!!!

TECH...I'm so glad that you've finally felt comfortable enough with us to post your name...That's a big step around here...I'm so glad you got a new mouse...

COLLEEN...Got any snow? I love your descriptions of everything around your house when it snows! It makes me feel like I'm there!

Fruit....I eat carrots all the time...I know I shouldn't, but like you, I absolutely love them...Keep up the good work...you can do this! Especially if I can!!!

GATOR...I'll go back and try again...maybe this time...it will work!

SUSAN.... When TENNESSEE won the NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIP, the same thing happened to OHIO STATE...they should have been #2 and they moved FLA STATE into that position after we beat them. They were something like #11 before the game...There was a big "TO DO" about it and if I remember correctly (I'm sure that GATOR will correct me if I'm wrong) Ohio State sued the BCS...didn't work, but at least they tried. Kate says the BCS is on the way out and it should be back to normal hopefully by next year.
I know that doesn't make you feel any better, but at least y'all can try again. Are y'all loosing a lot of good players? The big problem is that they will probably start AUBURN out at #1 in the polls, I hate that spot...so much to prove!
Keep us updated on your Dad...the procedure is really very easy and he will feel so much better! Here, when they do a stent, they keep the patient overnight on a monitor to observe the progress...and see it they are going to work correctly...

Well...I'm off to try this ticker again...I like the choices on TICKER FACTORY, but I found a nice ORANGE TICKER on this site here.

Good morning...

It is drizzling here this morning and cloudy as well. Dh's darn alarm clock woke me up today for the second time. For some reason he forgot to turn off the alarm although he wasn't going anywhere. The alarm also woke Jess up as well but we both could have slept another 1 hour, oh well. Oh, dh takes off from work today as he has few things to do so my computer time will be cut short. I better get some replies in now.

PANCHO : Yes, Petite is my section but now I will also check out the Jr section as well. I can't wait to get some clothes that fit.

MONET : I just finished the last of my meatloaf yesterday night and it definitely made my tummy rumbled...and dh too...LOL. I will definitely use oatmeal again, seems healthier...but I will remember to make it when we are going to be at home...lol. Congrats on the 3 lbs loss...woo hoo!! Steamed fish is absolutely my fav way of eating fish. I tried to steam fish few times but it never came out as good as those I had back home or in a nice chinese restaurant or my mom's so I hardly attempt it anymore, well, at least not the way my mom's taught me. I usually just steam my fish in an aluminium pouch with lots of thinly sliced veggies like, onions, bell-peppers, gingers, sesame seed oil, chopped garlic, green onions, soy sauce and probably 1/2 of tsp of agave. Sometimes I would add a dash of rice wine vinegar. Another easy way to cook my fish is cook them in an oven safe, like a pyrex dish. I have done the above version and it came out good (I also added some white wine as well). Another version is...fish fillets, salt and pepper, paprika, onion and garlic powder, lots of chopped garlic, olive oil, fresh thyme, chopped parsley, few dashes of Worchestershire sauce and white wine. The dish is pretty mild and light which is what I need sometimes. You can add some red pepper flakes or tobasco sauce or even thinly chopped chilly in it. I put the fillets in the dish first and then sprinkle the rest of the stuff on top of the fish. I might let them sit for 10 to 15 mins in the fridge and then put it in the oven for 15 mins (or until cook but not overcook) at 375 degree. I have also seared my fish in the pan and then make a butter, lemon sauce with capers, garlic and fresh herbs and pour over the fish. Another recipe I make is from one of the travelling food shows on Food Network. First season your fish with salt and pepper, then dip the fillets into flour (I add salt and peppers, onions, garlic powder, paprika thyme etc) and dust the excess flour off (ww flour works fine). Dredge the fish in seasoned egg wash and seared the fish on a medium heat pan. When the fish is cook, remove it from the pan. Make a lemon butter sauce and pour it over the fish. It tastes different but I like it.

BOB : As for putting vinegar in the water when you poach eggs is because the eggs stay together better with any acid in the water although many people have done it without. I saw the chefs in Food Network do it all the time, they swear the eggs come out much better looking...lol.

TECH : I had problems with few mouses for a while. Dh and I then bought a cordless one but it "ate" up the battery too fast so we decided to go back to a regular one. I know not all cordless one does that maybe just the one we had. I love cordless, so much easier.

JACK : The only meal I cook big is lunch since that was the meal my dh would eat with us. Dh is usually easy or leftovers from lunch if there are any since it is usually just Jess and me. Cooking is actually one thing that I feel comfortable doing and love. I can put my imagination and creativity there and it usually doesn't hurt anyone if the end results doesn't come up as well....lol. Thank god I have 2 persons that are easy to feed so they hardly complain. My dh has often said that he is the guinea pig for my recipes but he loves it. My menu sounds more elaborate than they look but I do agree that I put more efforts in cooking my meal these days, it is nice not to have to eat something over and over again. Thanks for your wonderful kind words about me and the tips about taking care of yourself. I know taking care of the outside is important too because how I dress does change a little of how I feel at that moment. I know if I dress casual in my pajamas, I feel lazy and sloppy but if I dress well, I feel more ready to face the world and go out to do something.

TONI : My fruit salad has different combination of fruits, I change them every once in a while or when certain fruits are on sale. My current combination are, grapes, apples, mangoes, blueberries and mandarin oranges. I used to make it with strawberries too but it has gotten too expensive so I skipped them. The last few weeks, I also added pomeloes and blackberries as well. I usually don't add anything to the fruit salad but I used to sprinkle some Splenda and lemon juice in my salad but don't anymore as I am perfectly happy with their own juices. I make a big bowl of it and park it in the fridge. Whenever I need a snack, I just took it out. It is sooo refreshing.

FRUIT : Yes, I am new to driving but not new to my area. I got my license in Nov last year. A little late but I am so glad I did. I remember coming here to "vent" a lot when dh was teaching me how to drive...lol. Anyway...I totally understand why dh is nervous. I really need to be extra careful as I have my daughter with me all the time. It is amazing how much easier it is to remember the roads when I am driving compared to when I was a passenger most of the time.

TEENSY : I am sure the extra lbs will melt away soon. My dh loves candle too!

GATOR : WTG on getting the 2 miles walk in. It is raining here so I probably won't get to walk today. I did walk yesterday and the day before. Felt good.

Got to go...

Good afternoon. I'm lazy this morning and just getting around to using the computer. I put on a pot of ham and beans earlier and the house smells so good now. It was probably 18 here this morning. Very cold. So I'm staying in till tomorrow when I have to grocery shop. Well the sugar cravings are less today. But I've sure been tired. I guess next week I'll feel better. Just my body getting adjusted to eating a certain way.

Fruit- You're doing so good. Hang in there. What a goal to look forward to, a cruise. It sounds wonderful. Thank you for the encouragement.

Teensy- Its so good to get the weighing part done with. Then you can start fresh.... Sounds like you've been busy getting rid of the Christmas stuff. I didn't do much decorateing this year so it was an easy clean up. Pizza sounds so good.

Julia- I know what you mean about letting yourself go. I would have never left the house with out make up on. But the past few months I sure do. And I'm a slob at home in sweatpants and a t shirt. My DH teased me the other day and said "don't dress for me". I'm hopeing as the weight comes off I'll get more in tune with my outward apperance. Thanks for the fruit salad recipe. And all those good fish ones.

Jack-K- Hope you're not as cold as we are today. Thanks for the good words. You're such an example....

Gator- What a wonderful way to start your day. Exercise and a healthy breakfast. I can't imagine working in the yard this time of year. I'm so jealous.

Fillise- Good wishes to your Father. Its so good he doesn't have to have any bypasses. I'm with you good thing the holidays are over!

Monet- Congrads on the jeans. I know you must feel better.

Bob- Its so good to see you on in the day. Hope your knee is healing good and you aren't in pain.

Well time for lunch. Have a good day all....

Pancho

Good Afternoon:

I am still at 122#, so it is steady, and unmoving. I have to get back into the right frame of mind. It's so hard to get out of the "holiday eating" funk.

I have had a good eating day so far (although too many starches):
BF: two slices ww toast w/ PB & agave
Lunch: Pepper turkey & cheese on ww toast w/ lettuce & cherry tomatoes on the side.
Flax chips w/ leftover artichoke/spinach dip
Water: Around 24 oz, so far
SF, soy latte
Handful of peanut M&M's (oooops)
I will have leftover taco soup for dinner.

I went to Wal-Mart to get some diapers for Lane today and tried on some workout clothes, and now I have an itchy rash all over my back and arms. I wonder if I caught it from someone who also tried on the same clothes (YUCK)! Or, if it is just a coincidence.

I went to see Spanglish with a few girlfriends last night, and actually enjoyed it. I am not a big Adam Sandler fan, but he was out of his element on this one, and I thought it was good.

Monet: I think dropping starches is probably a good idea on getting back on track. I thought of taking two days and only making fresh fruit/veggie juices and eating no solid foods to help alleviate the cravings, but still be getting adequete nutrition. I have a friend who eats one meal a day and drinks her other meals. I could never do that all the time, but could probably do it for a day or two. It is supposed to help cleanse the body too. I do enjoy my babies. Britt is 6 1/2 and still wants me to hold her on my lap. Congrats on getting back into your jeans.

Tech: I remember Nancy Drew books, but haven't seen the games; how fun! BRRR...sounds cold there.

Toni: Working out with friends can really keep you motivated and accountable. Have fun working out with your friend's exercise stuff.

Fruit: One day at a time....you can do it!!! Yes, carrots are now o.k. in moderation, as is popcorn. The taco soup recipe is really easy, and is a recipe I got back when I was doing Weight Watchers....here it is:

Taco Soup:
1 # lean ground beef or sirloin
1 large diced onion
3 cans of whatever beans you like (I like to mix....kidney, pinto, black, chili, etc..)
2 - 1# cans diced tomatoes, undrained
1 can water
1 pack taco seasoning
1 4 oz can diced green chilies
Brown beef with onion & drain. All all other ingredients and simmer for 30 minutes.
That is the ultra fast method, but you could make it healthier by soaking your own beans overnight and cooking them.

Teensy: Snowmen aren't just for Christmas; they are for the winter. I think that some of the best advice that I have ever been given is not to eat for 3 hours prior to going to bed. Your body burns calories when you are sleeping, and if you don't have any recent food in your body, it will turn to burning fat -vs- what you ate prior to going to bed. I think if Buddy has you by his side, he will definately recover sooner. We had one of those head cones for CheyAnne too, but she FREAKED with it on. She was like a rabid animal..she ran into the Christmas tree and the walls and totally spazzed out. The muzzle seems to keep her from licking, and she only has to wear it when I am not watching her.

Ken: My Dh jokes and asks me what t-shirt or sweatshirt I am going to wear today? I've been wearing jeans and sweaters lately. I do my hair a lot more now that I got it cut then I used to when it was long (I used to pull it up in a ponytail everyday). I also love my Bare Minerals make-up, so I wear it more now then I used to. I can relate though....my Dh bought me Chanel perfume for Christmas, and I am waiting for a special occasion to wear it since it is $80 for a small bottle. I shouldn't wait for a special day; I should make any day a special day. You channel a lot of energy to your DD and your family, and cooking.....gheez, you are THE COOK! Try to concentrate on your strengths, and not so much on your weaknesses (if that's even what they are). If you feel o.k. without being all made up, then so be it and be happy with that. Britt asks me on her days off school if I will put make-up on her, and I always tell her that she is beautiful without it and she doesn't need any. We will play around with it sometimes, but I don't want her or Lane to ever feel like they need it to be pretty. I told her I have to wear it now because I am getting old and I have to cover up my "fine lines" - HA! Being pretty on the inside is so much more of a gift than is being pretty on the outside.

Jack: At least you got your time in on the treadmill. Way to go! Not that you want my advice, but I'll give it to you anyway ;) :D . You really should try to eat within 15 minutes to an hour of waking up since your body has been in a fast mode all night (remember breakfast = break fast)...you are breaking a fast from the night before. The sooner your body gets food, the sooner your metabolism will start going and your body won't be holding on to any remaining food and go into that starvation mode. It can even be an apple or something to tide you over until you get to work to eat a real breakfast. Keep up the great
