Oh, boy....here it is after noon, and I finally got on here to post the new weekly boards. I hope I did not inconvenience anyone!

Yesterday was awfully busy...with church, then making a special lunch for Tom's birthday. I made Beef Wellingtons, which turned out fairly good. Tom just had the leftover one for lunch. I was so tired last night, I said goodnight to our company, and went upstairs at 8. I climbed in bed, and stayed there until almost 8 this morning! I feel better today, but still not up to speed. I was not sick or anything, just unbelievably tired.

Not much going on. Tom is off today, as is James. I think it will end up being a hang around and do nothing day. I think I need a few more days to recover the ground I lost by being so busy the last week.

Will check in later!

Good afternoon. I just boxed up all the candy gifts we got for Christmas to send to my Grandkids. I just had to get them out of the house. It will take me forever to get the sugar out of my system. But I know I will. I've got to go shopping and get some healthy food back in this house. I'm glad the holidays are almost over so I can get back to normal. I admire you gals that have stayed the course over the Christmas. I'm praying that this year puts an end to my bad eating habits. That and the fear of seeing my heart doctor on the 11th.. LOL!

Monet- Hope you rest up some more and get back to mending......

Good Monday afternoon,

I was here earlier but realized the new boards were not here yet so I decided to go grocery shopping for the week.

I apologize I didn't manage to post here the last few days. I blamed it on dh...lol. Gosh, he worked on the computer so much and hardly focus on anything else, which was quite frustrating but I am more used to him now than 6 years ago...lol. He gets into this "focus" mood every once in a while when he set his mind to do something. Anyway, my computer is doing fine and I believe he sucessfully installed "whatever" he planned to do. Wheww...finally my computer can get a break...lol.

Sounds like everyone had a good Christmas. Mine was great, relaxing and yet entertaining. Okay, okay, there was time when it was a little stressful but most of the time it was great. I did manage to follow the tradition I was hoping to set up. So, hot coco with marshmellow (first time for me) on Christmas eve. Jess loved the hot coco and she really looked forward to it the whole day. We drank it together and watched Spiderman together, which wasn't a good choice for Jess to watch....lol. She immediately turned into a "Spider Girl" after the movie ended...lol. At Christmas day, we had early dinner with my nextdoor neighbor. They brought roasted chicken and stuffing and pumpkin pie which were all good. I knew they were going to buy Jess some presents but ddn't expect them to get me dh and I some presents too. I was shocked. They bought dh a nice working gloves and got me a wonderful book about planting all kinds of herbs and a christmas ornament. The was also a gift for dh and me together, a cooler that looks like a luggage. Oh my, that was the coolest cooler I have ever seen...lol. They are just the most generous people I ever met, always so giving. Yesterday, we have few friends over for dinner. I made braised asian ribs, leftover spiral ham from Christmas, stir-fry noodles and veggies, green beans and onions. My friends brought a green salad and a homemade cheesecake which was yummy. The dessert is not legal though. I still have lots of leftovers from both Christmas and yesterday so we are going to live on that until tomorrow. After that, all goes to the trash because I know I will be craving for something fresh:)

As for presents, Jess got too many this year. She is just so overwhelming and don't know which one to play but I can tell she loves her playdoh and her 4-wheel drive the most. Our neighbors and friends really spoilt her. I hope she doesn't think she will get that many presents every year. I will have to make few of them "disappeared" (lol) so she can concentrate on few at one time and then make them "appear" again later :) Dh feels bad that he didn't get me anything although I already told him I don't want any except the present I bought for the church this year. I wish he didn't worry about what other people might think of him since he didn't give me any presents, which he did (the present for a program at church) but that is so "him" sometimes. It is like he is worried that people might think that he cannot provide or that he is not a good husband. Argh! Anyway, I eventually request for a shopping spree, which I planned on having when the holidays are over anyway because I do need some new clothes. He was so sweet to give me a much bigger budget than I asked for but I will be nice though...he! he! Oh, my other gifts are from my MIL and FIL when we were in FL. They bought me a nice tank top and 1 set of perfume (with 3 different perfumes).

I called my sister this morning and checked on how things are going back home, especially the news about Tsunami. I knew that they are not affected as they lived in the western part of Malaysia and the affected area is on the northern side. The funny thing was my sister wasn't even aware of the disaster until late last night when her bf called her from US because he was worried if my family was affected. My family had not watch much TV or even read any newspaper since it was holidays, that was why they didn't know. I thought that was funny.

MONET : Thanks for starting the boards.

MELINDA : "hello". Hope you had a wonderful holidays :)

Everyone else, hope to chat with everyone soon.

Monet : I didn't see your post earlier, we must be typing around the same time. No inconvenience at all, just thank you for setting up the boards. Hope you take it easy today :)

TONI : WTG on shipping those candies off. I am going to throw my newly opened marshmellow away. I only bought it for the hot coco on Christmas eve and now that is done with, I am not planning to use it again for a long time. I didn't do too well either but I didn't binge on candies and stuff just eating too many carbs on too many days. Anyway, lets continue our healthy journey with the rest of the gang here and I am sure we will do just fine :)

Okay, I am getting hungry so I am off to heat up some leftovers :)

Hello all! I hope everyone had a great Christmas! Mine was wonderful--the family all behaved (my family usually does, only occansionally does one of us feel the need to act out--and, yes, sometimes that one is me  ). I got her on Wed--spent Thurs shopping (acually more than two hours to get my mom and dad new cell phones and service), and wrapping. Friday my DD decided he needed to do his shopping (WHY do men think it is fun to wait until Crhitmas EVE????) and that meant I had to go with him. The Mall wasn't too bad and he got some great deals (and I got to pick out my own present--which is preferable to letting him get it on his own). But the Liquor store was MURDER!!!!!

We left for Kinston at 5:00 and after that everything was lovely.
We went to a party, had Christmas dinner, went to church opened presents, then my SIL and I set out the girl's presents. It was precisely 4:19 AM when I finally crawled into bed--I'm waaaayyyy to old for this. Fortunately my girls sleep in (even on Christmas morning) so they didn't get up until 10:30. Chrismtas day us very peaceful after the girls open their presents and we drove home about 5 pm. Yesterday I didn't leave the house. I napped, watched TV, read, napped and generally recovered. It was wonderful!

I have not been one bit good with my eatin--but I'm with Jackie--I'm not going to worry about it, just get back to work ASAP!

Jackie--Did you get all the snow they predicted? It was have been pretty, but I bet it messed up some folks Christmas plans.

Gator--next year I'm coming to your house for Christmas dinner! :D I hope you had a wonderful birthday celebration!

BOB--Can I borrow your brother??????? Do you just love the Sonata? I had a Tercel for a very long time tooo and loved it, but I'm having a blast in my Santa Fe! That 10 year warranty is Da Bomb! Not to mention those seat warmers! ENjoy! Call me when you come to Spa Monet! Tell Tippy that Belle says hello!

Monet--Did you get the scanner working properly yet? I hope you get to relax today what with Christmas and then Tom's birthday. Tell Him I wish him a belated happy birthday!

Julia--Your present sounds very thoughtful. A lot of people in the South call lunch dinner because it was the main meal of the day. Supper was in the evening and lighter.

Heart--Enjoy the holiday and then get back to work. Don't beat yourself up.

Missy--We BETTER see you on here after the first of the year--or BEFORE!

Country--Hope you had a good Christmas!

Pancho--You too!

Sebray, TEchwife and everyone else--I hope it was great and we all are gearing up for a kickin' 2005!

New Years day My SIL and I are chaperoning my oldest niece and 5 other teenagers to Myrtle Beach to a concert at the House of Blues. Wish me luck! I'll try to be on before then, but you never know. I brought the laptop to a coffee shop this afternoon to take advantage of the whighspeecd wireless. I need to do this everyday because I have some work I could be doing this week. We'll see.

Okay...I thought it was physically impossible to gain 10 pounds in 3 days  Apparently, I was wrong :o I guess all the bad eating has finally caught up with me in a very big way...straight to my stomach and thighs. Gross. Can't wear anything!! I just wanna cry  Alright, it's done, and the only thing I can do is work hard at reversing the damage. Wonder how long it will take? 2 weeks, maybe 3?? This sucks! Okay, okay, I'm thru whining, I had to vent to someone. Well, I'm definetly in SB mode now. Can't go in the wrong direction because I got rid of all my clothes as I've lost weight, so guess I'll just be in elastic pants for a bit. I made my menu's for today thru Friday. The only thing that might change is Wednesday's menu, but I SWEAR it will be 100% legal. The reason being is that we're suppossed to be at the USDA's office at 8:30 and then at the lawyer's office at 10 am to sign papers and the house will be ours :D So we might end up eating lunch in town. I actually don't even want to see any junk food, I've had more than my share. Anyway, I congratulate all you faithful SBer's. Wish I would have been one of you :( I'm definetly going to be checking in more now. Keeping myself in check as well. I got my workout in for the day, did Ramp it Up. Boy, did I procastinate, but did it. Here's my menu for today..

BF- was at 9:45- had 2 eggs and 2 slices bacon with 1 cup of CC 2% milk
Snack-at 11:15- was 7 whole cashews
Lunch- was at 1:15- had a big salad made of Romaine lettuce, tuna, green onions, tomato, cukes, 1 egg, pepper rings, cheese, and Carb Well Ranch. Diet Dr.Pepper
Snack-4:30- 2 stalks of celery
Supper- will be around 6- 2 hamburger patties(no bread), 1 with cheese, topped with mustard, legal ketchup, onions, lettuce, tomato and veggie salad with Ranch dressing. Caffeine-free Diet Dr.Pepper.

I have been really drinking wayyy too much diet drinks lately. Sometimes as much as 4 maybe even 5 cans a day! So I'm really going to try to only have 1 with my lunch and 1 with my supper. I've been drinking lots of water today. Just got thru with my 9th glass which holds 15 ounces. Hoping I can flush some of this weight off/out

I'm watching the news and my heart is breaking again. So many lives lost. I can only begin to imagine the horror of this. My prayers go out to the survivors and the victims families, such a horrific tragedy. So many babies and children, just horrible.

Good Morning! I think my sleep is finally getting back to normal. I don't remember waking up at all last night. And that was after the 12 hour marathon sleep in the night before, PLUS a nap!

Not much to report...I am still snitching bits of candy and illegal cookies...I wish I had grandkids like TONI that I could mail the stuff off to! I have not gotten on the metal monster and don't plan to. I did resume taking three doses of my glucophage yesterday...and predictably, it tore up my digestive system something fierce. I really hate taking that stuff.

We had company for dinner last night- a young single guy from church who lives near us. I made chicken and broccoli stir fry, and miso soup. I also had brown rice. I had made a plate of legal brown rice and fruit sweetened cookies, which all got eaten too. And not all by me! :)

FILLISE: The scanner is working great! No problems at all! I am learning how to do adjustments, but its not hard. I emailed a few old family pictures to my sisters, fun! Enjoy your vacation time!

KENG: Your neighbors sound so nice! I think your idea of hiding a few of Jess' presents then bringing them out later is great! They will seem all new and novel to her, and she will get more enjoyment out of them that way.

HEART: I hope drinking lots of water takes care of the ten pounds. I bet you are excited about the house! I hope it all goes smoothly for you...moving can be stressful, but it IS fun!

I need to go drink some hot tea, and find something better than stocking candies to eat. Later!

Good morning everyone. We're sure a small bunch here right now. I guess everyone will come slowly back. Well I'm out of sweets. I still had a few loose ones left after I packed up the box to my Grandkids. Of course I finished those off yesterday so today I go without. Guess I'll have big time sugar withdrawals today. I'm still not eating exactly right but I'm working towards it. I'm giving myself till the first to get it worked out in my head. And Wed. I'll get my weigh in. EEEEKKKKK!!!

Monet- Your dinner sounds wonderful. In fact everything you cook sounds so good to me. I'm snowed in right now. Thats what I get for being in the boonies. Our road straight up is covered yet and only my DH four wheel drive is going in and out of here. So I can't grocery shop. Hopefully by Friday I can get out of here and go shopping. So if you want to send me some of that good stir fry over!!!

Heartmom- I hear ya with the gaining weight. At least you had the courage to get on the scale and get it over with. Good for you. And it will come back off! I have to have a planned attack on that metal monster for Wed.

Fillise- Sounds like you had the nicest Christmas with your family. And a good trip. Good thing you didn't fly. The airports were sure a mess. Boy are you a brave one for Christmas eve. EEEEKKK!!!

Julia- I know how that is when the DH hogs the computer!!! Mine bought me a brand new Dell for Christmas and has been on it most the time. I'm lucky now he's went back to work and its mine all mine!!! It sounds like you had a wonderful Christmas with your family. Jess is so entertaining I just love to hear about her. Bet she is still having a blast with those toys. Thats a good idea to sneak some away for a bit. You sure have great neighbors. Sometimes I miss living close to someone. Our nearest one is a mile away. But we do so love the peace and quiet of the woods. Now a shopping spree would be fun!!! Thats a pretty nice DH you have there.....

Well I guess I'm caught up. Hope everyone returns soon.......

Happy Holiday, everyone!!

We had a wonderful Christmas...went to Christmas Eve service at a different church than I usually go to...last y ear, the service was over two hours long!! I mean, I know it's the reason for the season and all, but I had a two-turning-three year old that wasn't the least bit amused at having to sit still for so long when Santa's expected any minute!! So, we went to the Episcopal church this year (my regular is Methodist) and it was nice and to the point...three songs, communion and a few other niceties and we were outta there in less than an hour and a half. When we got out, it had been snowing in chunks (big, fluffy snowflakes) and all the trees were white with snow and I'm like "Its Christmas!!" When I got home, hubby had the house spotlessly clean (just in time to have it trashed the next morning) and had the spiral ham and illegal scalloped potatoes in the oven. I spent the day earlier baking my brains out...pumpkin pie (illegal), apple pie (illegal), cut out frosted cookies (illegal), and breakfast casserole (mostly legal) for Christmas Day. Next morning, the kids managed to open at least $500 in presents in an hour and then it was time to play the new Gamecube and watch football all day while eating apple pie and illegal vanilla ice cream and illegal candy. I figure, I've blown it temporarily, so why not live it up!! We never got out of our pajamas until late Sunday. It was awesome!! And I'm not about to stop today...it's my son's 4th birthday and I'm eating CAKE!! As much as I want!!
:gift:

Needless to say, once again, lets just say, my ticker is a big ole lie. I'm not weighing myself, either, until I've been legal for at least a week. BUT, I'm looking so forward to loosing weight. I'm so confident that this diet is going to do wonders for me...I'm not the least bit depressed about being bad. Neither should you guys...

And, like all of us, I'm so overwhelmed at the horrificness of the tsunami damage in Sri Lanka, etc. I heard the island of Sumatra actually is in a new place than it used to be. Not to mention all those people just being swept away! Its just unreal.

Well, so, Sebray...fear not, Chicka, we're both on the same page of success...just a small hiccup and we'll be back on track NEXT YEAR!!

And...it's SNOWING!! Blizzard-like, to boot! I love the snow...I'm planning on taking the Girl Scouts this year to the local ski hill for a ski lesson. Should be fun!

Well, gotta check the cake. :D

Have a happy day!!

Good morning all--

Well, things are getting back to normal. Bill left Sunday night, and I have been busy cleaning up the mess from Christmas. Pretty much done. I still have some static cling things on the windows, and my snowmen are all still out. But other than that, I am all done for another year. I will leave my snowmen out for a bit longer as I got some new ones and want to enjoy them for awhile before they get put away for the rest of the year.

Christmas was good this year as usual. We stayed home Christmas Eve with the boys and then spent Christmas day over at my Mom's with all of my Sisters and Brother and their families. We have a huge dinner with Prime Rib, Turkey, Ham and all the trimmings. Santa was generous again this year. I received a cell phone, Personal CD player to use on my walks, 2 new DVD's, 3 new exercise outfits, and an Epson PictureMate. Professional quality photos using my smart media card out of the digital camera. This little thing is amazing. I got dh all new tools from Sears, with the big roll around tool box, and a new watch. He also got new binoculars, and a pop up hunting blind. We got Brant his new hunting jacket, and a DVD player. Bill got a 20 inch TV with built in DVD player and VHS. And some heavy hooded sweatshirt jackets to keep warm in while he is working. All in all a very nice Christmas for all of us.

Eating hasn't been too bad. I did indulge a couple of days, but didn't do too bad over all. I have kept up the exercise and even upped it the last few days. I am not going to weigh in this week as TOM arrived yesterday. I will wait until he leaves and then brave the metal monster.

Here are a few replies, hoping to be able to get here more often now that I have my computer room back to myself.

Monet-- I put out a candy dish of homemade goodies and found that I wanted to snitch one each time I walked by. I had a couple of days that were pretty much eat what I wanted, But am back on plan and exercising with a vengence!!

Toni-- Don't feel lonely......it was pretty easy to pass on the goodies that I made this year......but I sure didn't do as well on the goodies that others made and gave to us. I just wanted to try each new item to see what it was.......yeah, right. I don't think I will even weigh in on Wed. TOM hit me hard yesterday. Think I will wait until next Wed.

Tech-- I think we all go a bit overboard on Christmas. It is the one day of the year I except to let myself indulge. I manage to stay legal for Thanksgiving, but Christmas is a different story. Enjoy your son's 4th B-day and then hop back on the old wagon with the rest of us.

TEENSY: Good to see you! I missed you! Do you collect snowmen? Are they figurines, or snowmen of any kind???

TECH: You can eat cake, as long as you get back on the straight and narrow right afterwards! I'll kick you, if you will kick me! ;)

Wow, the board is EXTREMELY slow, I really hope that changes after the 1st. I am still in shock and so saddened about the Tsunami's. I heard last that the death tolls were around 40,000! That's almost incomprehendable. I saw pics on the news of people carrying their dead children with tears running down their faces. Here I go again, crying as I'm writing that. It's just something about a child dying that tears me up. Okay, CTS. I weighed today and got better news than yesterday. 4 pounds are gone..that was the fluid part of the gain, now I'm left with the fat, lol. I'm just hoping I can fit into my "baggy" jeans in the morning to go sign the papers on the house. If not, guess I'll wear jogging pants which is very unlike me to wear to town. Oh, well. I bought Leslie Sansone's Walkaerobics DVD the other day and popped it in this AM. I thought it was new. But it was obviously done a few years ago because of the outdated set and workout clothes. It's different than the WATP which is what I like best. But it's always good to switch up your workouts. I was doing the 2 mile walk when the phone rang at 1 1/2 miles and I didn't resume it again for another 5 minutes(I had cooled down by then), so I did another mile or so to "make up" for it. I have to teach exercise tonight at the church. Think I will stick to plain aerobics and step for the cardio. Not up to doing any extensive workout like squats and lunges, etc..Amazing how a few pounds can make such a difference in my physical appearance, mindset, and now endurance. Anyway, I'm on target with my eating and really have no desire for any off plan foods. Not like I could afford to anyhow, lol.

TECH- Tis the season for endulging! Boy, do I know first hand. Just don't stray too long. We'll be here to help you get back on track. Boy, do I LOVE bday cake! Happy Birthday to your little man. My Boogie is 4, will be 5 in April. My girl's bday is Feb.7th, so I know that I will be endulging in some "Bratz" bday cake on that day as well.

Here's my menu:
BF- was late, 10 am, 2 egg cheese omelette topped with salsa and 1 cup 2% CC milk
Lunch- was at 1:15- the same as yesterday...big salad made with tuna, veggies, cheese, 1 egg, and Ranch dressing
Afternoon snack- probably celery stalk filled with PB
Supper- Making chili with beans topped with sour cream, probably won't eat until 7:30.

That's it for me today!

I was wondering if anyone knew about tuna(in the can) being safe to eat 3 times, possibly 4 times a week due to the mercury in it? I like using the tuna because it's filling and I use the low salt kind(usually) so that I don't overdo my salt like I would if I made my salads with lunchmeat. Anyone have any good ideas for salads? The ones I have found usually combine fruit and meat together or have too many illegal ingredients.

I have never had so many phone calls in such short time but since yesterday the phone was ringing for me. Friends and family were calling to check on my family back home. I was very touched because some of the people who called me was not those I spoke to on a regular basis. So, it has been nice :)

I spent the morning playing with Jess. We played playdoh and whack-a-mole which I am the current champion...lol and I also did manage to make a healthy lunch as well. The last few days has been all meat and no seafood so my body really craved for that so I made fish today with lots of veggies. I don't know what get into me today as I cleaned and tidy the kitchen after lunch today which is highly unusual...lol.

Here's my menu today :

Breakfast : An open chicken sandwich. Water.

Lunch : Basa fish dipped in ww flour and egg wash and seared in the pan. Sauteed brown rice with mushrooms, baby spinach and spices. Stir-fry bean sprouts with bell peppers, onions and carrots.

Snack : Fruit salad

Dinner : Leftovers...asian ribs, ham and pasta. Will add a salad to the meal. Woo Hoo...I am done with the leftovers tonight!!

REPLIES :

FILLISE : I am glad you had a great time back home. Your day of recuperating and relaxing at home sounds wonderful. That is my kind of day :) Yes, I found out what "dinner" means to southerners...lol. Next time when people invite us to their house for dinner, I better make sure I have the time correct...lol.

BOB : Oh my gosh, a car!!! What a big heart your brother has and I am sure it is also because his "sister" has a big heart too. So, enjoy!!!

GATOR : Your holiday meals sounds so yummy!! Oh, who cares about calories at such time right? I don't...lol. I bet there isn't much leftovers since everything were so yummy. Have you recovered from the meals yet...lol?

HEART : It is strange but sometimes the only way of getting ourself "straight" is when we know we have reached the "enough" point. I really hate when that happened but I know that it has happened to me. You are right about not beating yourself up any further but instead do something about it. What you do now on is the most important and focus on that. Pray for His strength instead of yours because I know I cannot rely on mine simply because I know I am weak. WTG on getting on track today :)

MONET : I am so glad you had a nice long sleep. I know how wonderful sleep can be so congrats!!

TONI : Dh is back to work as well so I have my computer back. How are you enjoying your new computer? Now, all you need now is a DSL service...lol. I have to agree with you about my neighbors, they are awesome and I feel so blessed to have them. Because of them we have decided to stay longer here instead of moving which we we inititally planned on after staying here for 2 years. I have prayed for some wonderful friends and neighbors to come my way and I have to say, my prayers have come true.

TECHWIFE : Happy Birthday to your son!! Jess will turned 4 in April next year. I can't day I am looking forward to it though :) Enjoy the cake, just not the whole cake...lol.

TEENSY : Glad you had a wonderful Christmas with your family. Looks to me that you were also in control with your eating during the holidays as well. WTG!!! I am so proud of you!!

Okay, that's for now. Jess is driving me nuts climbing up and down my chair...lol. I do have lotsa of cleaning to do now that the holidays are over so I better start now :) Good day everyone!

HEART : We must be posting around the same time. I am trying hard not to follow the news too closely on the disaster, it is way too overwhelming. Life in those countries before the disaster was very difficult but now it is just undescribeable :( As far as tuna fish, I am not exactly sure how often we can eat it without being poison. I will have to do some research on it.

EVENING EVERY BUDDY!!!

BOB has some news...Remember how excited that I was about WHOLE FOODS opening?????? Well,
my friend Debbie and I went today at lunch to get some soup from their WONDERFL HOT BAR...we picked up some other things...I got some fresh ground ALMOND BUTTER, their brand of cranberry juice (no sugar) that I mix with water and splenda, a new pair of Tweezerman tweezers, some sourdough bread, got Kate some clam chowder, and some chilli for me, along with some Greek salad, and I can't remember what else...oh yeah...some great looking organic kale...we proceeded to the car, and I fell off the curb (not marked with yellow) sprained my left ankle, and BROKE MY RIGHT KNEE CAP!!!!! As I went down, I thought that I hit my orbital bone, but it was my glasses that hit it and that's bruised. When I fell, I went down on the fatty part of my right arm which saved me from breaking my shoulder. THANK GAWD FOR FAT!!
My knee cap is fractured and not separated thank GAWD and they have me in an emobilizer to keep it straght. I'm off work until Monday, then my friend Debbie will pick me up for work and then bring me home. Thank goodness for friends!

AND HOW WAS YOUR DAY????????

Now I have a new car and cant even get my big arse in the damn thing!

BOB: You poor thing! It would drive me crazy to have a new car and not be able to drive! How long will you be unable to drive???

Just finished dinner...leftover pork roast, and broccoli with cheese sauce. I ate a sliver of ww crust, chocolate pecan pie made with fructose and therefore somewhat legal. I feel rather stuffed! I am going to go play with my scanner and stuff. Be back later, or tomorrow!

Monet-- Yes, I collect snowmen. They are all kinds of figurines, and some are stuffed. Many are candle holders too. They are all just so cute. Can't wait each year to see the new ones they have.

Heart-- How about the canned chicken, it would work just like the tuna wouldn't it?? I too think that you would have to eat an awful lot to get mercury poison.

Keng-- Playdoh.....boy does that bring back memories. I can remember the smell of it so well.

BOB-- I am so sorry about your accident. Praying for a speedy recovery. Speaking of knee caps....I am taking my little black dog in for surgery Thursday. He has dislocated his knee cap. (Happened on one of our walks when he got loose and was chasing the deer.) I had him checked out in Nov. and Dr thought then it was just muscle but it has never healed. I took him back in and had some X rays done. Poor baby.

Morning! I am excited! Got an email that one of the first two books I listed on Half.com sold! I have to go get tape and bubble envelopes to mail stuff in, then I am going to list a bunch of books. I have tons, and its just time to clean them out some! I can keep my favorites, but gosh, I have SO many, I can use the moola more than the books. Maybe I can earn enough money to pay for all the stuff I buy!

I need to mosey down and get some coffee, or hot tea. I am also starving. I slept pretty well last night, so I am feeling pretty good. :)

Will be back in a bit....

Hi guys,
GatorGal has been sick, sick, sick! :( I started coughing on Dec. 23 and woke up on the 24th with a chest cold. No sniffles, no stuffiness, just a hard packed chest cold with cough and fever. I called my dr. on Monday and am now on antibiotics. Am feeling better but am still really "fuzzy". I have zero energy and have to lay down to rest up after I do anything, like take a shower, eat breakfast, etc. I am supposed to go to work today, and am gonna give it a try since the other girl is on vacation and they need me there. Maybe this will help me get back on my feet. We are having a NY party Friday night, so I HAVE to get going so I can get stuff done. I've lost a couple of pounds with all this, but it's probably not the permanent kind of weight loss.

My DH also is sick. He has a regular cold, with bad cough and also a gastro-intestinal infection for which he is taking a powerful antibiotic. Poor guy. He has been feeling like s--- also. So, together, we make a sorry pair.

BOB--I'm so sorry to hear about your injuries. Get better soon. I didn't read the whole board. In fact, I haven't even been on my computer in several days. Too tired. Take care, everyone. Have a great weekend.

Good morning...

Jess is watching Winnie The Pooh so I better take the opportunity to check in here. Oh, I almost forgot to tell you gals about my stupidity on Monday. I left my big bag with my purse, cell, etc etc at the store when I went shopping there. I didn't even realize I lost my BIG bag until someone at the store called my home (dh picked up...yikes!) in the evening. Can't you believe it??? Argh! This is not the first time I have done such thing. The last time I lost my purse was when I took Jess to the restroom at the store and while I helped her pulled up her pants, I sat my purse on the toilet roll and then walked out without remembering that I left it there. Since that incident, I decided to put my purse in a big bag so it is harder to lose a big bag or easy to remember a big bag but now this happened. I am sure my dh is bitting his lips not to say anything about it to me although I know he probably wants to...lol. The good news is, some nice people found my bag in the shopping cart outside the store and returned it to Publix. Everything was there. I checked my credit cards and they were no illegal transactions (not counting those from me...LOL) so that helped to ease my dh's mind. Any ideas on how to NOT be so forgetful?

REPLIES :

BOB : I am sorry about your accident. I can feel your pain just by reading your post. Ouch! I hope you get some good relief while waiting for them to heal. Oh, you have plenty of time to drive your new car, now just concentrate on healing yourself. {{{hugs}}}

MONET : Congrats on your first sale!! I am sure many more will come :) I didn't sleep well last night for some reason and kept waking up. I am feeling okay now but can't say the same for later :) Glad you had another goodnight sleep.

GATOR : My goodness...you sounds so sicked. Please rest and try to eat as well as you can and that will help you get back on track soon. Hope your dh get well soon. {{hugs}}

HEART : I found some info on can tuna at fda website. As for can tuna, here is what fda website says ;

Five of the most commonly eaten fish that are low in mercury are shrimp, canned light tuna, salmon, pollock, and catfish.

Another commonly eaten fish, albacore ("white") tuna has more mercury than canned light tuna. So, when choosing your two meals of fish and shellfish, you may eat up to 6 ounces (one average meal) of albacore tuna per week.

If you want to read the whole story, here's the link :

http://www.fda.gov/oc/opacom/hottopics/mercury/backgrounder.html

Got my shipping supplies, and got my first sale ready to go! I will have to run over to the post office a bit later. I am going through some of my books and finding ones to sell. :) I have some rare paperbacks I might sell. I do like rereading books, but I want and need to concentrate on other things now.

KENG: I hate that albacore tuna is high in mercury. That is the kind I like! I get salmon for my hubby, who loves it. I don't, so I make shrimp and/or scallops for me. I am not sure if I trust the FDA totally....other web sites like Mercola, are not as easy about the mercury levels in fish. Because of what we read, Tom started using a canned salmon that is farm raised, instead of tuna for his lunch.

HEART: Do try canned chicken. If you can get to a Costco or Sams, they sell it cheaper than in the grocery store. I get it at Costco and its reasonable there. The texture is like tuna when it is canned, and the flavor is good.

GATOR: I sure hope you feel better soon! Don't over do it too much...you don't want to relapse!

Oh my gosh I got on the scale this morning and it moo'd. I've gained so much weight between Thanksgiving and Christmas. But that part is over and its onward I go. I still have a house full of unhealthy food but tomorrow I'm going out of town to grocery shop. So I'll have vegetables and salad stuff. And lots of good healthy things in. I have a small boneless rib roast to cook for New Years day. I think I might try it out in my new rotissare, I'm dying to use it.

Techwife- Well we have a brand new year coming up and we can do this. Christmas is over now and its time to get down to business!

Teensy- Sounds like you had a really nice Christmas. I'm kind of sorry its all over. But am loving the new computer. I think you did allot better than me in the eating dept. I can't believe how much candy and sweet gifts people gave us. And of course I had to eat them.

heartmom- You're an inspiration, right back to exercise. My ugly old treadmill is just staring at me waiting for me to hop on.

Julia- Your food sounds sooooo good. I've never had Basa fish, what is it like. I don't even think they sell it around here. I'm so glad you got your big bag with your purse in it. EEEEKKKK!

sebray- What a nice gift a sewing table. Sounds like you'll be using the heck out of it. Whats your first project?

Bob- Oh no I'm so sorry gal! You've had some of the worst luck this year. Maybe 2005 will be better. I hope you're not in to much pain. I'll be thinking about you.

Monet- Congrads on the sell. Thats such a good way to get rid of books you don't want anymore. I love half.com.

Gatorgal- Hope you get to feeling better soon. Don't push it to fast. Its awful to be sick this time of year when things are so busy.

Have a great day everyone. I'm off to sweep around the wood stove.

I have just finished having lunch and love how I feel when I do not overeat and when I eat the healthy foods. My menu for today :)

Breakfast : 1 fried egg and 1 ww waffle. Water.

Lunch : Sweet and sour jumbo shrimp (Made them with a little Agave and ketchup. I got these shrimps when they were on sale, what a treat), sauteed pasta with veggies and herbs and a green mixed salad.

Snack : Fruit salad and maybe some cheese and lean smoked sausage.

Dinner : Not exactly sure what yet but should be legal.

MONET : I do not trust FDA totally as well but use their info as guidelines. The was an article I read a while back about farm raised salmon that was actually not good for regular consumption. I think it has to do with the food that the farmers fed the fish but I am not sure. Either way, you don't win. I just eat in a reasonable quantity but I also think I am also more likely to die of something else other than seafood poisoning...lol.

TONI : I haven't weight myself for the last few days plus I know my period is about to visit so I am going to live the scale alone...lol. I didn't do too bad but still more illegal than I should have eaten. That is over now but we can both do better with the support and encouragement of everyone here. The extra lbs gained will melt off soon...just make those great decisions and the rest will follow. How far do you have to go to get your grocery? I am so lucky that I live in semi-woody area and still get to enjoy the amenities closeby which is 5 mins away. Basa fish is my absolute fav fish after tilapia. It is a white fish farm-raised in Vietnam, very flaky and light. No smell whatsoever. I was first introduced to it by a lady who worked in the seafood department in Publix. I was getting tired of the salmon and tilapia that I was eating at a regular basis and decided to ask her for recommendation. Since then, I have never looked back and some friends who have tried it loved the texture too. I have seen basa in other grocery stores as well. If there are 2 seafoods that i must have, they will be shrimps and my basa fish. I actually crave for them...lol. Rib roast in rottiserie sounds yummy. I am sure it will turn out great.

SEBRAY : You must be good at crafts. I am totally opposite...lol. I have a friend who loves craft and she has a date with "Michael's" every Wed on her day off. She said she can spend hours in there everytime although she practically know what things in what aisle...lol. Enjoy your sewing machine and your masterpieces that you are going to create :)

Got to check on Jess and then clean my kitchen. Goo d day everyone!

Good afternoon strangers:

It is quiet around here right now. DH went to work for a few hours, Britt is at a friend's house, playing and Lane is down for a nap. And, I am still putting off taking my x-mas decorations down. I love to pull them all out and put them all up, but I don't like having to take them all down and pack them back up. I will have to get it done this weekend though. Britt suggested we just leave them all up until next year (LOL)...not a bad idea.

I went to the gym Monday, and will go tomorrow and Friday. The gym is closed on Saturday, and I skipped this morning because it was pouring when I woke up to go. Next week, I will get my 4 days in.

WIW...I weighed 121# this morning, which is not bad considering that it is that TOM, and that I intentionally took last week off from working out. I was getting burned out from exercise and thought I needed a break; it was great to have the time off and now I'm ready to get back to it. I will eat what I want this week, and exercise, and then next week I'll get serious about both eating and exercise. I bought some tamales today that we will have on New Year's, as well as a lot of other finger food type things. I don't like to cook; we just snack all day/evening.

The kids have been playing so well together during Britt's school break; Lane will be sad to see her go back to school.

Monet: Thanks for starting the boards; better late than never, eh? Glad you got some much needed sleep; I hope it is the start of many more good nights. You can donate any of your "junk food" to a local shelter. Some of them (Waste Not) will even come by and pick it all up for you. Glad you sold your first book; I hope you are able to sell all that you no longer want/need.

Toni: Way to get that crap out of the house. You cracked me up....a scale mooing....I would have liked to have heard that (ha).

Ken: Britt loves to have hot chocolate when we have our first "fire" of the year in the fireplace. It officially marks the Fall/Winter season. We also have it on Chrismas Eve when we open our gifts from family/friends. It sounds as if you have some generous neighbors. When Britt was little, I'd pack up some of her toys and put them in boxes, and then when she got bored with her current toys, I'd pull out the boxes and let her have that stuff and pack up the stuff she was bored with, and then pull those out a few months down the road, and switch off. It always felt like she had something "new" to play with. I really do spoil the crap out of my kids for Christmas, but the magic doesn't last too long. The first few years, they could care less what's going on, and then when they start getting excited about it, they only have a few years of "believing in the magic" before they learn the truth. Britt knows the real meaning of Christmas, and says her prayer every Christmas morning before coming out of her room. She told Lane the other day (before Christmas) that if Jesus hadn't been born, we wouldn't get any gifts because they represent the gifts that the wisemen brought to Jesus when he was a baby. Can I just tell you how many times I've lost my wallet/purse? Thank God for honest people. I wasn't a scatterbrain until I had kids. I had a lady approach me in the store the other day, and asked it I was driving the Tahoe...she told me that I had left my back tailgate up....yep, that would be me.

I'll be back in another post...I don't want to lose this one.

I'm back.....

Fillise: I hear ya...my DH always waits until the 23rd/24th to do his shopping. It sounds as if you had a fabulous time.

Heart: Good luck getting back on track; It's not always easy. I'm sure you will drop those extra pounds soon enough. I didn't think that canned tuna had as high of a mercury count as the fresh stuff. Costco sells Kirkland canned chicken that is really good; I definately prefer it to tuna. Maybe if you had tuna once or twice a week and then the chicken once or twice a week, it would be a good trade-off. You'd still be getting those Omega fatty acids, but not too much mercury. I found that when I do have a diet soda (I usually have 3-4 week) that it does trigger my sweet tooth and I do get sweet cravings. I try to stick to unsweetened iced tea as much as possible.

Tech: It sounds like a beautiful white Christmas. I hope you are able to get right back on track when Monday rolls around. I swear I'd be as big as a house if I lived where it was so cold. I'd be eating hot food, and baking non-stop.

Teensy: Sounds like Santa spoiled you good this year. I would have liked to have gotten some new workout clothes; mine are getting worn.

Sebray: Glad you got a new sewing machine; enjoy it. I hope that stubborn scale gives you some good news soon.

BOB: OH MY GOSH, woman! Slow down! As if you didn't have enough going on, eh? I love Whole Foods. The one I have here is about 45 minutes from my home. Next time you are able to drive yourself there, they have those Dr. Kracker crackers; you should try them..they are good. I also get the Shelton's canned tortilla soup; it's got a great flavor. Take care of that body of yours!

Gator: So sorry that crud caught up to you. I hope you feel better soon. You may have lost that weight for good; it's hard to say. I was sick last year, and dropped three pounds, and never put it back on. Enjoy your NY party.

Gheez, don't know when I'll be able to get back on and do another post like this one. I do get on and read when I can, and I think of you all lots...just know that.

I'll check in when I can. AND, if I am not on before Saturday....HAPPY NEW YEAR!!!! Let's make 2005 the best year yet!

God Bless!

Just finished dinner....Tom had sauteed salmon, and I had sauteed shrimp and scallops. I made steamed veggies to go along with it. I wish I could like salmon, but I just don't!

Not much else is going on. I am dying to have a cup of decaf and some cookies... shame on me! Its too late for anything though. We are dinner way too late. Good thing it was a light meal.

PANCHO: Where do they have that Shelton's tortilla soup at Whole Foods? I would love to try it. I have not seen it though. Also, I have not seen the Dr. Krackers...will have to ask my friend who works there.

SEBRAY: Did I read that right? Your kids are sick? I sure hope they are better fast! Have fun at Michaels! I love that place! We have Hobby Lobby here, too, and I love it as well. I go for the art supplies.

TONI: Did you get a rotisserie oven for Christmas? What kind? I have a George Foreman and like it. The screw needed replacing and they were supposed to send it and never did....I should have written them again sooner. Now its out of warranty! Drat! I love it, but have not used it as much as I thought I would.

KENG: Now that the holidays are almost over, and you have your license, when are you going to be making a shopping run to the Buford Hwy Farmer's Market? Its so close to me, we ought to meet for lunch....

Pancho: oh my scale is my best friend...no matter how much i beg, plead, and cajole her she'll never lie to me....the irony is that as im sitting here complaining about my weight im eating m&ms and drinking sweet tea....bah holidays get me into a funk...i cant wait to get my new exerciser then ill have no excuse....one day im going to quit smoking too...thats my problem though, everything will happen 'one day' ... i just need to figure out how to get 'one day' to change into 'today'

Good evening all. It is late again, but I will get in some replies and be accountable for my menu today. I have been doing great with the exercise, and fairly good with eating. I think some of the nuts that I ate today from one of the goodie bags might have had tad of sugar. Not quite sure, but every once in awhile I thought I got a sweet bite with the hot and spicy. But am not 100% sure.

Menu for the day--

B-- 2 turkey bacon, 1/3 c Roman Meal cereal, 1/8 c SF syrup 1 tsp cinnamon, and 1 Lite 85

snack-- apple

L-- Chicken breast, summer squash, 2 SF Nips.

snack-- Nuts and an orange

D-- Meatloaf, salad and greenbeans. 1/2 c SF pudding with whipped cream.

Well, tomorrow is the day that my little Buddy dog has his knee surgery. I sure hope everything goes okay. I miss not having a walking partner. They will keep him overnight, so I will pick him up after 8 am on Friday. I worry so much about my babies when I have to leave them overnight. I feel like I am deserting them at such a time when they don't understand what is going on. I take him in, and they take him to the back room and then he won't see me again until the next morning. They dislike going to the vet as it is, and now I have to leave him overnight. I think this is probably worse on me actually than on them.

Monet-- I used to have a ton of book too. Then they opened the book exchange, and I was hooked. Since my eyes have gotten worse and I need glasses to read with, I don't read like I used to. I do miss it though. I used to read for atleast 1 hour before I went to bed every night. Now it is just not the same when I have to search the house for my glasses, and I can't get comfortable with them on my face.

Gator-- Sorry to hear that both you and dh are not feeling well. Lots of virus stuff going around. Dh was sick for over a month. Get lots of rest, and don't over do.

Toni-- It is hard to imagine that your scale actually mooed!! Maybe gobbled at little?? I wasn't that good......I had to try all of the great looking goodies I got from neighbors and relatives. That is where the couple of days disasters came into play. This year though alot of relatives put mixed nuts and meat and cheeses in for me. I did put a bunch of sweets out in the freezer in the shop. Out of sight, out of mind. I hope!!

Keng-- Wow you were so lucky to get everything back. That is scary! I can only remember one time that I left my purse. And my poor dh had to drive for over an hour and a half on icy roads to go back to the restaruant and get it. This was back when Brant was only about 2 years old. Since then I chain it to myself. Lol.

Sebray-- My sil is like that. She could spend her whole weekend in Michael's. She is the craftiest person I know. She also quilts!

Pancho-- I totally know what you mean about the decorations. I love putting them up each year and seeing all of my snowmen anew each year. Taking them down is a completely different story. It takes a few days. I still have the window clings to take down. I took a few days off from the exercise too, only because it is just too hard to try to get in when the kids are here. When it is just the two of us, dh will fix his own breakfast while I exercise. When the boys are here, I feel like I need to be the one in the kitchen and fix a hearty breakfast for them. The "Mommy" thing. Dh teases me that that is the only time he gets a good meal any more. Honestly though I would cook for him every morning if he wanted to wait until I was done. He gets up so early though that he is hungry before I get done.

Well, ladies, see you all tomorrow. Sweet dreams to you all.

AFTERNOON EVERY BUDDY

I'm still alive....so far.....it's so hard to get around and keep this leg straight.
I'm not sleeping well because I usually sleep on my right side and I can't do that, and when I try to go on my left side, it hurts the ankle! It's still swollen really bad as is my foot. That GAWD for my BIRKS....I can't sit in the living room with Kate because the chairs are too low to get back out of....sitting in her wheel chair isn't comfortable, so at least my chair here at my computer is adjustable and I can get it high enough to get in and out of and be comfortable at the same time!

That's what's going on with me.....HOW IS YOUR DAY?????

BOB! You have such luck! Wishing you a speedy recovery.

Julia- Thanks for the info, I probably will alternate between the can tuna and chicken now. Try to keep the tuna at twice a week.

Okay, I have flushed out alot of this weight so far this week. I'm very pleasantly surprised at how fast I've been taking it off. Monday morning I weighed 171(yikes!), that was a 10 pound gain from last week! Tuesday morning I weighed 167, so I lost 4 pounds in fluid. Yesterday morning I weighed 163 or 164! And this morning I weigh 162! Amazing. I've been eating 3 meals and sometimes snacks. But I've only had 1 starch this week and no fruit. LOTS of water. And been exercising(see exercise board). Monday, it was like Atkins with my eating and LOTS of water(180 or more ounces). Same amount of water on Tuesday but I had some beans. Yesterday I had a LC shake for BF because I didn't have time to make anything. For lunch(in town)we ate Barnhills where I had a chicken breast, LOTS of greens, cabbage, and green beans. For supper, we were STILL in town, had CiCi's pizza buffet where I had the LC pizza(no crust) and 2 salads with veggies and Ranch dressing. The LC pizza was delicious. I gave DH a bite and he said that is what he's ordering from now on,lol. I was worried that I would be up a tad because of all the salt from the buffets and I only drank 50 oz. of water yesterday. So, my advice to those with holiday weight. Avoid starches for a couple of days, eat your veggies and meat, stay away from fruit, and get a workout in everyday, and drink LOTS and LOTS of water and you should see it come off quickly. Alright, I'm excited about it coming off so soon, BUT I'm still up 3 pounds above my low a couple of weeks ago. I'm hoping I can get these 3 off by the end of NEXT week. I plan on having bread today for lunch(chicken and cheese sandwich) and tomorrow I plan on introducing fruit back into my eating plan, so I know the loss will slow down, but I honestly believe that true SB is for longterm and healthy weight loss and maintenance. Oh yea, the reason we were in town all day is because of the house...we are now officially homeowners of our 1st "real" house! We had alot of running around to do. Then we went to Lowe's and picked out paint and all the stuff that goes along with it and DH had to have the best so we spent 200 bucks on just that. That got me a little depressed but I guess it's worth it in the long run. The main thing is that is was only stuff for the hall and LR. Then we went to his Aunt's and picked out light fixtures and with her giving it to us at her cost, it still costs between 400 and 500 bucks. We put 400 on it and then I had my lips hanging out! That was all the extra money we had. But we did get a cobblestone fan for the LR, a CS chandelier and 2 additional lights, a "cloud"(phlorescent light and cover)for the kitchen, a porch light, a bathroom light, a ceiling fan for our room, and a chrome and glass vanity light for the bathroom. Yes, it had all fixtures to begin with, but they were dated and hubby wanted to spruce it up. I just had no idea that kinda stuff cost so much! The regular retail on this stuff was 900 or 1000 dollars. MAN! Okay, as you can tell I'm a bit of a tightwad. I like to hang on to money not let it go,lol. DH is working in FL right now until tomorrow night. I imagine we will spend the majority of the weekend painting and tearing down wallpaper(I hate that!). Next week they are suppossed to install my central heat and air. Then next weekend(the 8th) we will be moving in! I can't wait. Alright, I need to calm down, lol. I also need to get my butt off this computer and pack the kids and I a lunch and go to the house and try to remove some wallpaper. Talk to you guys later.

Good afternoon everyone. Just got back from my big shopping trip and I now have all the healthy things I need. Hope I can get my head on straight by Sat. or Sun. to start good. I've sure had all the sugar and junk I need for another year.

Julia- I would kill for that ww waffle. Its a little over an hours drive to the nearest super Wal Mart where I do my shopping every two weeks. And the only ww waffles they carry are not legal. I was so excited today to see them and then disappointed they weren't the right kind. DANG!!

Sebray- Have fun at Michael's. I love that store and could spend hours in it. The pillow sounds so sweet for your nephew. To bad my sister got all the sewing talent in this family. Hope your kids are feeling better..

Pancho- You're my hero. 121!!! And here it is after the holidays. You need a big salute cause you do so good with your weight and exercise. You're such a good example.

Monet- yes I got the rotissare for Christmas from my brother. Its a GE. I would rather have had the George Foreman but didn't get that one. I've got a turkey breast and a roast to try out in mine. I may not use mine all that much but sure can't wait to try it.

Teensy- I know what you mean about leaving your dogs at the vet. It seems so sad for them. Our little boston terrier is not going to live to much longer and I'm sure getting some loving of him in. We're trying to spoil him as much as we can. I hope your little guys knee surgery goes alright and he's back to normal soon.

Bob- Hope that swelling goes down soon. Your leg sounds so painful.

Heartmom- sounds like you're just dropping that weight. Good for you gal!

Hope I got everyone. Have a happy day.

Dh came home after 7am this morning so he worked for about 16 hours yesterday....but for a good reason since he was covering for his co-worker who had an emergency to attend. He has now gone to work again and on New Year's day he had to work until 3am :( I, on the other hand hasn't been productive today.

My menu for today :

Breakfast : 1 ww toast, 1 fried egg and 2 lean sausages.

No snack

Lunch : Seared chicken breast with creamy white sauce with chopped onions, mushrooms and spinach, green beans and brown rice.

Snack : Fruit salad and maybe some cheese and lean smoke sausages.

Dinner : Spaghetti and meatballs and green mixed salad.

SOME REPLIES :

PANCHO : 121 is awesome!! You are doing a fantastic job!! I haven't think about what to do on New year's day since dh will be working but you just gave me some ideas. I might make some appetizers or finger foods as well, sounds fun and at least give me something to look forward to. I think I should probably take Teensy's advice and chain the bag with me...lol. I get so scared thinking about my forgetfulness because I don't want to forget Jess when I am with her. That really scares me more than anything. I am thinking of keeping a checklist in the car where I can see it everytime I get into my car. Example like, check if Jess is with me (lol), check if I have my bag or purse, groceries etc. Happy New Year to you too !!!

MONET : I only learnt to eat salmon since being in the US. I know salmon can be pretty strong in taste and smell but I just love the "buttery" texture that has. I love scallops and shrimps too, any seafood except maybe octopus which I do not care for.
I do not dare to drive anywhere close to downtown yet and don't think I will do so for a while although my dh did encourage me to drive when he is around. I really want to get comfortable with driving as a whole before venturing out to Buford on my own but I can still meet you when dh and I go shopping at Buford one of these days. We hardly go there anymore unless I need to stock up on some sauces and dried chinese foods. I would love to meet you and I am sure my dh won't mind either. My food supply is running low so I will need to make it up there soon. I will let you know in advance when we do. If you come down my way (Fayetteville), let me know :)

SEBRAY : Oh my, kids and ER scares me. I am so glad they are both okay. Hope the test comes back okay. The other day when Jess and I was at the store, she tripped and fell on the floor. She cried in pain not just because she fell. I thought she twisted her feet or broke some bones....it scared me. Good thing it wasn't what I expected as I was planning to take her to the ER. I drag the time when I have to take her to the ER, hopefully not.

TEENSY : You are right, it is harder on you than your dog. You know you are doing the right thing and Buddy will thank you for that :) I remember my late great grandmother used to tie her little purse to her pant all the time. Maybe I should consider a chain for my purse...lol or maybe make a checklist and put it in the car where I can see it everytime I get into the car.

BOB : {{{hugs}}} Pray for your speedy recovery.

HEART : Congratulations homeowner!!! I can feel your excitement, that is so awesome!! There will be a lot to be done but plenty of time, so take it easy :) Thanks for the advice on getting the lbs off. You are doing a great job!

TONI : I know so far Publix has the ww waffle although some health food stores might have some too. I am so glad we have Publix everywhere, I just love this chain.

Will check in later...time for snack now.

Afternoon everyone! I went shopping today...and it turned into a marathon. James went with me and you know how it is shopping with kids... He put all kinds of stuff in my cart that he wanted, and it must have cost me twice the amount he gives me for groceries! We went to Costco, and got all kinds of stuff, then to Harry's/Whole Foods, where he went nuts in the cheese department. He found a Bleu Gouda he had to try and some smoked Gouda, and a wedge of Stilton. I found brown rice ramen, and brown rice crackers. Yay! I can't believe how much I spent. shudder.

TONI: I got all stocked up today too. The ww waffles are at Publix, and are their own brand, amazingly. I have seen ones that are somewhat legal at health food stores. I would be happy to mail some to you, if we could just figure out how to keep them frozen!

BOB: If you are sitting there at the computer, send me a nice long email. :)

PANCHO: I looked for those Dr. Krackers at Whole Foods, but they did not have them in the cracker area. I did find some other neat stuff... Have you ever tried the Ak Mak crackers? They are really good too.

HEART: Congrats on your new home! When we bought our first house, 20 years ago, it was brand new. We had to go pick out the light fixtures for the house. Our whole budget for them from the builder was $500! Tom told me not to go over, and I went with a friend. What a joke! I got the cheapest fixtures they had, and still went over almost $200! I say you got a great deal on what you bought...enjoy! I know you are going to love having a real house!

KENG: Let me know when you are going to head up this way. We could pick someplace inbetween too, if you like. I would love to meet your hubby. I am rather partial to Jamaicans! ;) Maybe we can convince Fillise to come over and meet up with us too! I thought of you as I was picking out Tilapia at Costco! I will have to try the Basa fish. They have it at Publix. Is that where you get it?

TEENSY: I used to be that way about glasses...but about five years ago, my contacts were bothering me so much, I took them out. It was spring and the pollen was awful that year. I never could get them back in my eyes...so now I wear my glasses all the time. I can't see at all without them, so I had to get used to them! :(

SEBRAY: I hope your kids are feeling better soon! Its an awful time of year to be sick! (kids would agree...they don't miss any school! )

ok its Friday Funnies time and i just found the funniest thing while surfing the web at 5am :( so here goes:

Tickle Me Elmo

A women desperately looking for work goes into Erwin. The personal manager goes over her resume and explains to her that he regrets he has nothing worthy of her. The woman answers that she really needs work and will take almost anything. The personal manager hums and haws and finally says he does have a low skill job on the "Tickle Me Elmo" line and nothing else. The woman happily excepts. He takes her down to the line and explains her duties and that she should be in for 8:00 AM the next day.

The next day at 8:45 there's a knock at the personal manager's door. The "Tickle Me Elmo" line manager comes in and starts ranting about the woman he just hired. After screaming for 15 minutes about how badly backed up the assembly line is the personal manager suggested he show him the problem.

Together they head down to the line and sure enough Elmos are backed up from here to kingdom come. Right at the end of the line is the woman just hired, she has pulled over a roll of the material used for the Elmos and has a big bag of marbles. They both watch as she cuts a little piece of fabric and takes 2 marbles and starts sewing them between Elmo's legs.

The personal managers starts to kill himself laughing and finally after 20 minutes of rolling around he pulls himself together and walks over to the new employee and says, "I'm sorry. I guess you misunderstood me yesterday. What I wanted you to do was give Elmo two test tickles."

hope everyone has a great day :D

I made some pork barbeque last night..and I have another hunk of the pork in the crockpot to make some more. I just cook it to death, shred it, and add a bottle of BBQ sauce to it, and cook for a while longer. I found some low carb Kraft BBQ sauce yesterday...made with splenda and ascelfame K, and low in sugar! Going to make a batch with that stuff.

Gotta go make Tom some breakfast...we got another hot water leak, so he has to work in the garage.

SEBRAY: snicker... My son got some toy that had a press activated thing in it...can't remember who it was, but it was supposed to be for little kids. They put the censor in the wrong place, and you had to pinch it you know where! Its a collectors item, as they took them off the market as soon as they realized the mistake and repositioned the censor to remarket it. He collects weird toys, and is rather crude in his sense of humor, so he loves having this item! Wish I could remember what it was...I just know when I saw the box, I asked him WHY he had a little kid toy, and got an earful! LOL

Good morning all. Its wonderful weather here in Missouri. More like spring. Know it can't last so I'd better enjoy it. DH has the day off. So I'll be making snacks and not legal food today. But this is my last time. I knew this was coming up and would be the end of my eating off SB. I'm prepared to start tomorrow as I have been getting ready for all week. Getting over the sugar is really going to be hard. Can't believe how much sweets I've eaten over the holidays. Well a new beginning and I'll not look back.

Julia- Your DH has sure had to work lots of hours. Theres been such a change in this household since my DH went on days. I'm not sure I like it. It was nice having him home durning the day. And I'm having trouble adjusting to cooking for two in the evening.

Monet- sounds like you're all stocked in to. Wish you could send me some of those waffles. Oh well. I may ask at the crappy health food store in the next town if she could get some in. But shes not to good at ordering stuff. Sounds like James helped your shopping out. LOL!!! Its like that when I take my DH. But then again he nearly fainted at the grocery bill yesterday. Your barbeque sounds good and thats how I like to do my pork. You can make so much with pork if its cooked to death. I love to make burritos out of it.

Hope you all have a great New Years Eve. http://www.3fatchicks.com/weight-tracker/img/bar-blue3/slider-but1/lb/209/130/209/ (http://www.3fatchicks.com/weight-tracker/index.php)

How do I get that ticker thing to come up automatically every post?

Ellen
12-31-2004, 12:36 PM
Just got in from the post office...I sold two more books! I prepared the packages and sent them off already! This has been fun! I have so many more I can sell, too!

Tom told me that the kids told him last night that Laura's car would not start, and James had to go pick her up from work! Great! We have spent about $3k on that dang thing in the past four months, and now it probably needs a starter...another $250 repair probably. For that amount of money, we could have gotten her a really nice used car!

We have a party to go to tonight...its mostly young couples, so it may be wild. They are all folks from church...I have heard the hosts do this every year, and make everyone who drinks turn in their keys! Since I don't drink (medications! :( ) I will be a designated driver. Tom ought to enjoy himself. tee hee.

TONI: Paste the ticker into your signature line on your control panel. Then it will come up with every post. Burritos with the pork sounds good! Not sure if James will let me do that...his mouth is watering for the BBQ on hamburger buns!

The house is sure smelling good right now as lunch is cooking in the oven. Lunch is a bit late today because I spent the morning at my neighbor's house up the street. It was fun having someone to visit. My old house where dh and I stayed for 4 years, we usually just waved and once in a blue moon, we would chat with them on their driveway. No one wanted to get together and was doing their own thing. I am just so blessed to have neighbors who want to get to know one another.

Okay, on to some replies :

MONET : I would check with dh on his schedule and see when would be a good day to meet, I am sure he would love to meet someone who is partial to Jamaicans...lol. Maybe Tom can come along if he doesn't mind strangers...lol. Yes, I usually get Basa fish at Publix..yum, love that fish. Wooo Hoo..2 more books!! Before you know it, your books will run out. Well, then you can buy new ones :)

TONI : I am certainly enjoying my time along in the evening doing whatever I like. If dh is around, he is usually on the computer or TV, both my fav things activities after Jess is asleep...lol. I am still trying to figure out how to ship frozen food but I am sure it is possible because many companies do that with dry ice. When I get that figure out, I would be glad to ship you some waffles too. Monet and I can take turns in filling up your waffles stock...lol. It also quite reasonable too, I believe it costs less than $2.00 for 10 pieces.

Got to check on my lunch so will have to stop here Will catch up later.

Hi, I posted last week but I guess no one saw it.

I want to wish all you SugarBusting Gals a HAPPY NEW YEAR!

I'm really thinking hard about trying to come back as a regular poster if that's ok. I have really blown it without the support of friends here. I'm afraid I've gained almost all the weight that I had lost since I joined this board 4 years ago. :(

As we ring out the old and ring in the new. . .

Let us ring OUT old hurts and resentments and ring IN a healing spirit of forgiveness.

Let us ring OUT self-loathing and ring IN a healthy love and respect for ourselves.

Let us ring OUT the regrets of resolutions not kept, deadlines not met, and goals not achieved. Let us ring IN a resolve to work everyday to make healthy choices and to treasure each day as a gift.

Let us remember that we cannot change what is past. What we did or did not do in 2004 is now out of our control, but what we do in 2005 is in our grasp.

To all my SB friends--Have a happy and healthy new year!

It is about few hours before New Year and I just want to spend my NY's eve doing whatever I like on my own time but the phone kept ringing every 1 to 2 hours in the last few hours. I am so thankful I have caller ID because I can screen out the calls that I don't want to take. This phone call is from a girlfriend of mine that I met over 4 years ago. She has been thru some hard times from the divorce and now remarried and more problems because her new husband is just...arghh!!!!! I know this sounds cruel and heartless but I am soooooo tired listening to her same stories, same problems (although different husband now), same complaints, same doubts and her selfishness, like calling me at 3am!! I am so tired of avoiding her phone calls and telling white lies that I am not free tonight so she couldn't visit me. I am lying and I hate that. Now, I am so fed up of the phone ringing!!! LOL. Everytime I spoke to her, I feel like I am going to explode. I feel down, frustrated and overwhelmed. That's how I feel tonight although not really down because I do not want to spoil my NY's eve. I know coming here to scream will do me a little good...lol. Okay, I am done and need to go clean my bathroom before watching "What Not To Wear"...lol.

I hope everyone has a fantastic, healthy, joyful year a head of you, HAPPY NEW YEAR!!! Woo Hooo!!!!!

HAPPY NEW YEAR!! We got in early, like 12:45 from the party. We were the oldest ones there, and no one I felt close to showed up, so it was ackward. I did enjoy it, and all, but was glad to get home and monitor the home front. The kids invited a bunch of friends over, and I was able to stop two under age kids from drinking until they promised to stay here until morning. I don't want them drinking and driving, and especially not from my house. When we got home, the whole group of them was up on the roof watching fireworks! I sure have some crazy kids!

I ate too much junk tonight and feel yucky! Thankfully, tomorrow will be fairly good eating, and then its over! All the cookies, and crap are going in the trash and I am getting serious again. Seems there are a lot of us in the same boat...

BOB: I will be looking for that long email....now don't disappoint me. Jackie said she might take last week off, and she usually checks in from work, so she said she might not be back on until next week.

MELF: You know you are always welcome.

KENG: I know how you feel...I have a few friends who just drain me too.... As for meeting, Tom would probably love to meet you all too...it would have to be on a weekend though, since he is never off on a week day.

FILLISE: Thanks for the well wishes...I hope 2005 is a fabulous year where we all shrink down to the size we want, and the year is filled with delights, and wonders...

I better get off here and check on the children. Tom is snoring away. He was drinking some brews at the party, and was just exhausted by the time we got home! I unfortunately, drank a cup of coffee and it was not decaf, so I am wide awake!

HAPPY NEW YEAR my dear SB friends,

It sure is a beautiful morning here, a little foggy but beautiful. Dd is watching some treats shows from PBS, Thomas The Tank Engine and Bob The Builder. I have not seen them on PBS so that's why they are treats for her now.

FILLISE : I hope you have a fantastic year as well. Thank you for that wonderful NY wishes and wisdom :)

MONET : Glad you had a great time at the party despite it being an younger crowd's party. I don't drink so I really can't say I understand why people drink until they get drunk. Hopefully everyone recover well this morning.

TONI : "hello" Happy New Year

MELINDA : Happy New Year!!! Hope this year we get to chat a little more :)

Happy New Year all my Sugar Busting friends.

We had a party over here last night and got to bed 1ish. Good food and good friends are a nice way to start the new year, especially since I did not overdo it. We had a ton of appetizers: mexican mountain, chinese dumplings, cheese straws, several dips, wine, punch--with or without.
We had dinner about 10 p.m. and had black-eyed peas, rice, collard greens, ham, squash casserole, and corn bread. All you gals who are not from the south might not understand, but that is a traditional way to bring in the new year, food-wise. It is "supposed" to be good luck to eat those foods. Most every one was stuffed from all the hors d'oevres so did not eat much dinner, but as I has just nibbled here and there, I did enjoy those wunnerful black-eyed peas. Yum.

I still have my cough but have finished all the antibiotics. My poor Dh is still sick with GI problems from some infection or something for which he is also taking antibiotics. We both will be so glad to be totally well. I feel like we lost a week of our life.

Weather is fabulous here. In the 70's. We took down our tree today and put away all the Christmas decorations. It is all back to normal. My mentoree student is coming over on Monday to type her term paper. She doesn't have a computer and it definitely will help her grade to have it typed. I guess I will also be doing some proof reading and correcting grammar etc. Should be interesting.

I start another French class on the 11th. Phonetics. A week or so after I finish the class we leave for southern France. I am definitely looking forward to that trip.

Gotta go. My DH wants to go for a walk. Can't waste this great weather and should get in some exercise. I probably will hack and hack all around the neighborhood.

BOB--Hope your arm and knee are doing better.
Congratulations on beating Texas.

HAPPY NEW YEAR!!!

My weight is slowing creeping up a bit (122.5# this morning). The rest of the weekend will be a free weekend, and I will eat what I want, but come Monday morning...no more naughty food. I put out a buffet for the family yesterday, and we will finish that off today - Spinach/Artichoke dip, 7-layer dip w/flax chips, green onion dip w/ veggies, fruit w/marshmallow cream cheese dip, chicken fingers, pigs in a blanket, stuffed mushrooms....need I go on? It was good and we were stuffed. It makes the kids feel big to pick what they want. We spread out a blanket in front of the fireplace and ate "picnic" style.

We still haven't taken the tree down...we will tomorrow though.

DH and I made it up til midnight (which is rare for us). I climbed into bed around 12:15, and Lane woke up at 1a.m. and didn't want to go back to sleep. I was up with her for over an hour, and then Britt started coughing terribly around 3 a.m. (she is starting to have esophagus problems due to her not-so-good diet the past month). I had to give her some homeo pellets to calm her cough. I then went back to bed until 7 a.m. I am a bit tired today.

I can't get to replies today because the kids want me to play with them, and that has to be my priority. They will not be wanting me to play with them in a few years.

Oh, just one...

Monet: The Dr. Kracker crackers (at my Whole Foods) are not with the other crackers, they are packaged in see-thru packaging and are on an end cap near the cheeses and refrigerated stuff like tortillas, etc... They have big size crackers as well as cracker bits (smaller crackers). They have spelt ones, which are the ones that I get so as to avoid the wheat. The wheat free cookies (I think they are called Nana's) are on the same end cap. The Shelton's soup is just canned and with the canned soups near the chicken broth and stuff. It is good in a pinch. I add some of my crushed flax chips to it and it turns out to be a good filling lunch for me from time to time.

Well, I am being paged.

Here's to a healthy, happy New Year for us all!!!

God Bless,
Nat

my trip to michael's was soo exciting....i got there (with NO KIDS :D ) and just strolled through the store like i had all day (which i did lol that was the plan) found TONS of xmas stuff on clearance and got a bunch of ribbons and ceramic ornaments for dirt cheap...got a kit to make a dreamcatcher for my neice and a kit to make a hemp necklace (ive always wanted to learn how to make hemp jewlery so nows the time :) ) i also found a jelly jar that i can make my potpourri lights with so now all i need is a small piece of lace and i can make that :D all in all it was a good trip but at the register was my best surprise....all that stuff i bought (believe me it was ALOT!!!) and i only spent $24!!!!! knowing i didnt spend nearly enough i ventured down the street to the superwalmart

got the few things i needed at walmart and then marched right to the fabrics and crafts section .... got some beautiful sunflower swags for only $1 (snatched 3 for my kitchen) found some great fabric (spiderman fleece for a blanket for the little one, 2 sunflower prints for my tablecloth, and a really sweet pastel christian print for a blanket for my neice -- all on clearance) picked up 2 crossstich patterns, a small purple butterfly for my neice and a large oriental butterfly for my living room.....grabbed some yarn and gosh a WHOLE bunch of other crafty stuff :D my poor new sewing table is overflowing now  anywho...i ended up spending about $80 on craft stuff at walmart ... lol what can i say im a shop-a-holic....

well that said i have to run now....i dont think my bladder can hold anymore....hope everyone has a great day...and BOB i hope u feel better soon hon

oh and i think i convinced my stepmom to convert to SB...when they were here for xmas i gave her the main SB book...the one that describes all about SB and why it works...anywho she took it home with her and called me today...she's doing modified SB atm until all the bad stuff is out of the house but even doing that she's lost 4 pounds and is feeling so much healthier in just about 2 weeks now....my DAD is even talking about trying it ....of course he doesnt know that he's already been on it since she started  but hey we have to let men decide things on their own and then just smile and nod when they finaly agree with us :D im going to tell her about the boards and see if maybe she'll join us here....im sure she'll have as much fun as i am :)

Well I just ate my last meal that wasn't totally legal. Now onwards and upwards. I'm looking forward to being the best that I can be in 2005. Had to get it straight in my head, I start SB legal tomorrow. Wish me luck and thanks for being here.....

TONI: You go! You are going to go it, and its going to be great! I am cleaning out the sweets tomorrow...its all going in the trash!

SEBRAY: Way to go, in getting your stepmom on SB! I hope she joins us!

PANCHO: Even being up a bit you are doing great! I bet you get the extra couple off in no time! Hope you have fun playing with the kids!

GATOR: Glad you are doing better...we had peas, collard greens but no rice. If finances hit the skids for us this year, Tom is going to blame it on my not serving rice! LOL

Hey everyone! Its been a slow day here at Spa Monet. Went for a walk...the weather is gorgeous again. I am really tired...almost as bad as last Sunday. I am going to take a nap before church in just a bit.

FRUIT: Can't wait to have you posting regularly again. We miss you! Don't feel bad...we all (almost) have gained! Holidays just DO that...

Hey everyone!! Happy New Year. Today's my last day of being very, very bad. Then tomorrow, it's onward, James!! Haven't weighed myself, but my jeans still fit, so that's good news!! ;) I know I'm nowhere near 168, though...but will weigh myself NEXT monday after I'm back on plan for a week.

Sebray...just a little tip. Get a book on hemp jewelry for the patterns and different types of stitches...my daughter and I do it all the time. And for added craftyness...get a pack of Sculpey Clay and make your own beads!! We blend a couple of colors and make swirly beads...take a toothpick to make a hole and then bake them for 10 mins. Instant beads!! And very fun, too!! We would sit on the front porch for hours in the summer making our beads on a cookie sheet, then bake them...

Well, good luck to all on dieting!! Tomorrow when my guilty conscience isn't tugging at me for cheating, I'll be back on the board more often!!

C-yas!!
