Ellen 12-13-2004, 08:45 AM Good Morning! I am going to start the week off coming clean...we went to Garcia's last night, and I had tortilla soup. That would have been ok if I had only left the chips alone. I probably ate 3/4 of a basket by myself. On the way home they caught up with me, and I was feeling gross. Maybe I will remember that next time, BEFORE I eat them. :(
Not much going on here today. I finally ordered something to be sent to my family. Today, I need to go buy some gift cards to send to Tom's family, and a few items for my family and a few close friends. I doubt I will get much done today, but it will be nice to make a bit of progress. We have a white elephant gift exchange at small group tomorrow night, so I need to find two small cheap presents. Oh, and I ordered a few things from Amazon. Progress! It feels good!
Unfortunately, I do not. My belly still hurts from the dancing episode Friday night which I compounded by carrying around all my babies around Friday, Saturday and Sunday. The Lortabs, and ibuprofen did not hardly take the edge off it yestday. Today, I will try and rest more.
Tomorrow my friend Tom (the OTHER Tom...not my husband) and I are heading over to Auburn to visit FILLISE and see some art work he is interested in. He and his wife are one of the young couples we are friends with from church. I am looking forward to seeing FILLISE.
I hope everyone has a great week! I have been trying to think of a suitable motivation, but am coming up blank. I will come back and post one if I think of something....
kengjw 12-13-2004, 10:04 AM Good morning everyone!!
What a beautiful morning to wake up to. It will be slightly chilly today but that's okay since having dh and Jess wth me will keep me warm :) I am starting this morning with some grocery shopping and also a little Christmas shopping for a program at church. Then, I should be home until later in the afternoon as we will be meeting up with some friends that we have not met for few months. Our busy lives have get the best of us but we really needed to catch up so it's time :)
I might not get to check in until tomorrow so I just want to get on here early and wish everyone a good day!!
Julia
Pancho 12-13-2004, 11:06 AM Good Morning:
It sounds like everyone is staying busy, as most of us are this time of year. I have a Mom's Night Out tonight; it's an ornament exchange and potluck. It should be fun to get out and catch up. On Wed, we have the Mom's Club Christmas party for the kids, so Lane and I will go to that. I can't believe that after Friday, Britt will be out of school until Jan. 3rd.
The strangest thing happened to me....on Saturday night, as well as last night. I was fine all day, and then when I layed down in bed, everything felt like it was spinnning and I felt dizzy and lightheaded, even kinda sick to my stomach. Even if I felt better, once I rolled over in bed, it would happen again. Once I woke up yesterday a.m., and this a.m., I feel fine. It just seems to be happening at night. I guess I'll see if it happens a few more times, and if it does, I'll make an appt. to see my doctor.
My eating has been pretty good, and exercise has been fair. I was at 120# this morning, so I guess all is averaging out.
I got a ticket on Saturday, so now I have to take a class. I am trying to register to take it online. Boy, that stinks; the class will still be $120, but the ticket would have been $165, and the points would have gone on my driver's license. I think that last ticket I got was in the early to mid 90's; I guess I was due.
DH took Britt to school, so I am still in my jammies. If Lane takes a nap today, I will go to the gym before picking up Britt from school.
Ken: Have a great day w/ your daughter, husband and friends!
Monet: Whoa...slow down woman. I am sure you are feeling the pressure/pain from the weekend. Enjoy your day with your friend and with Fillise!
I better get going; Lane wants to play Baby Dolls.
Take care,
Nat

I believe that leaves Chocolate!!!!!!!!
Chocolate is a Vegetable
**
Chocolate is derived from cocoa beans.
Bean = vegetable.
**Sugar is derived from either sugar cane or sugar BEETS.
**Both of them are plants, in the vegetable category. Thus, chocolate
is a
vegetable.
**
**To go one step further, chocolate candy bars also contain milk,
which is dairy. So candy bars are a health food.
**Chocolate-covered raisins, cherries, orange slices and strawberries
all
count as fruit, so eat as many as you want.
**Remember - - -
"STRESSED" spelled backward is "DESSERTS"
Send this to four people and you will lose 2 pounds.
Send this to everyone you know (or ever knew), and you will lose 10
pounds.
(If you delete this message, you will gain 10 pounds immediately.)
"That's why I had to pass this on - - - - - I didn't want to risk it."
Solly 12-13-2004, 12:40 PM Good Monday morning,
Hope everyone had a great weekend. I spent most of it shopping. Practically finished. Everything is wrapped. DH went with me Sat and we got a couple things for me.
Eatng was pretty good for the weekend. But the best thing was I got dressed Sat and picked up the wrong jeans. They were some I had grown out of. They fit. They weren't loose, but I got them and and zipped before I realized they were the old ones. A pair of slacks that I just bought were looesr today, Yipee! it goes to show what a little exercise will do. Now that motivates me to get back on the TM every night this week.
Monet, those chips are the hardest thing to leave alone. Last time, I took my own with me and that helped.
Nat, Hope that dizziness goes away. I had that just one day. Don't know what causes it but it went right away the next day. Have fun at your party tonight.
Ken, have fun with your friends.
Tech, That was cute.
Have a great day.
techwife 12-13-2004, 01:29 PM Another cute site just in time for Christmas....Monet will love this, especially!! As well as all us cat lovers!!

THE BIG ORANGE BABE 12-13-2004, 02:13 PM AFTERNOON EVERY BUDDY!!
Not much going on here in Sunny FLA....the temp is 70degrees and there is a balmy breeze coming in off the gulf...I LOVE IT!!!!
I go back to work on Wednesday (if the Health Nurse at the Hospital clears Me) and it will be hard to get back into the swing of things! BUT...gotta do it! My hand is feeling fine today, no nerve pain at all! No sensitivity AT ALL!!
It's a good day!
MONET....I'm so glad you cleared up that TOM thing...ya know, I thought it was the monthly TOM and then I smacked myself in the head and got that thought cleared right up!
Have a good time with Susan...I know you will...
JACKIE...I thought I was through.....and now I find out that my Brother DOESN'T WANT WHAT I WAS GETTING HIM!!! He's making it rough....now I've got to go to the MALL!!! I have succeeded in not visiting there AT ALL for ANY of my shopping, but now it's too late to order without paying extra to get it here! Oh well, at least the KIDS aren't out of school yet...shouldn't be too crowded!
CUTE TECH!!!
NAT...good to see you...squeeze Lane for us! and BRIT too!
 JULIA!!!!
Well, I'm off...got to drop some papers to the Attorney, take back some movies, go to the Post Office etc...I'll check in later
BOB
Ellen 12-13-2004, 03:32 PM I went to WalMart and Publix this morning. I got a few things, but not as many as I wanted. A bit later, I will go out to either Home Depot or Lowes....but only if I feel like it. I really need a nap! I almost fell asleep this morning, but one of the kittens jumped on me and scared me to death! I jumped a foot, and then I couldn't fall asleep...
BOB: Just between you and me, I have always been annoyed with the monthly thing being called Tom. I much prefer Aunt Flo, or AF for short. When everyone starts to gripe and moan about Tom, I think of this wonderful man I married, and it just makes me mad! ;) I am so glad your hand it better! I know that is a relief! I hope you enjoyed the time off though!
TECH: That was a cute web page! My daughter has eight cats, and they have the attitude that the cats should enjoy the Christmas tree! I shudder to think what their tree looks like! Most of their cats are still kittens! I am having trouble with the three kittens here...I can't imagine more!
JACK: Woo hoo! Way to go on the pants! I know that feels good! I can't wait until I can wear my regular clothes again! My belly is still pretty swollen...
KENG: Enjoy your visit with your friends! Its so easy to let the time slide by, without keeping in touch with old friends. We have some we really need to call...but its so busy around now..
heartmom 12-13-2004, 05:08 PM Hey, guys! I weighed this AM and I'm up almost 3 pounds from Friday. My own fault for that "legal" binge I pulled Saturday, plus it didn't help that I ate 2 handfuls of Funjuns last night :o Today is better though. SEBRAY- Everyone falls off track from time to time, get up and dust yourself off and get back on track and that will be the key to success. Take it from someone who does it more than anyone should  I got my exercise in for the day. Did Burn it Up. Man, I LOATHE that workout! Brutal, but I did it and glad it's over with. Probably will only do it once a week, that's how much I detest it. PANCHO- Just do it one time and you'll see what I'm talking about. I won't be teaching my exercise class tomorrow at the church. My Uncle passed away yesterday and his wake is tomorrow evening. He had a stomach aneurysm and the bleeding just wouldn't stop. We weren't close because he and my Aunt divorced when I was really little. I remember him as this little man who could really play the fiddle(played bluegrass). I'm going to support my cousins and pay my respects. Anyway, not much going on. Ugh, Judge Judy is on, I have to change it, she is so obnoxious. Okay, changed. Just staying at home today. I'm still waiting to hear if the funds are available with the house loan. Wish they would hurry up. Alright, here's my menu.
BF- 3 eggs and 2 1/2 slices bacon
Snack- SF powerbar
Lunch- cajun roast beef and swiss sandwich(2 slices bread, mayo, mustard, onion, beef, light swiss) and a salad(lettuce, onion, cukes, 1 boiled egg white, bacon bits, cheddar cheese, and Ranch dressing)
*Dessert*- LC vanilla yogurt(was wanting something sweet).
Supper- got chuck steaks marinating in Italian dressing and seasonings. Plan on cooking them in olive oil with bell peppers and onions. Cauliflower with lemon pepper and butter, fresh snap beans,(and yellow rice for the rest of the family since they don't eat cauliflower).
Jack-k- You're doing great! What are you down to now?
Alright, I need to do some laundry and a little straightening up. The house needs to be mopped and dusted but I simply don't want to :p
Solly 12-13-2004, 05:15 PM Boy the board is really slow. Just checking in before I run home. Want to stop at this little gift shop and see if I can find a little something for my 2 sisters. Then home to fix dinner. Meatloaf is already cooked and waiting. Will get my workout in after that.
Bob, I'm so glad your finger is better. That is sooner than they expected isn't it? Only 1 trip to the mall, I've been there at least 10 times and to every mall. It is blowing snow here today. Trade ya.
Heart I'm at 167. still 10 above before I started all the breast cancer stuff. Sorry about your uncle.
Monet, at least you got some things done. Little steps are better than none.
Have a great evening.
Ellen 12-13-2004, 07:01 PM I am SO stoked! I just realized I am going to Auburn tomorrow! I get to see Fillise! Woo Hoo! Can't wait!
I took a nap...that is until the stupid At&t guy called and woke me up. Grrrrrr. At least I can function now.
Dinner will be a legal ww pizza I found at Whole Foods...can't wait to try it!
Hope everyone is doing well.
Beth2374 12-13-2004, 07:13 PM Just wanted to drop a note and wish you all very HAPPY HOLIDAYS!!
My computer is still trashed, so I can't post like I wish I could, but I have stayed pretty well OP and have lost a few more pounds. I'm back down into my size 14's instead of being back UP to my 18's!! Of course all this falls on the heels of having some disastrous health problems with my diabetes (blood sugars in the 250's!) . In the last 2 months I've spent out of pocket $600 in medical bills. I thank the Lord every day that I at least had insurance, so it wasn't any more!!!! Needless to say we aren't doing anything for Christmas here, there's nothing left and I'm having a hard time with kicking myself about it being my fault. I know that's silly, but when I think about the fact that my health problems are going to be the reason that my kids aren't going to have a great Christmas, it breaks my heart. I'm trying to remind myself that isn't what Christmas is about... but it's hard to explain that to my kiddos. They will understand one day, and next year maybe things will be back to normal and we'll be able to do for our kids (AND our Salvation Army Angel that we usually do every year, also.)
On the upside... my diabetes is back under control :D !!! I had gained some weight back, and by getting my health back under control, I lost 22 pounds in ONE MONTH in November. I'm down to 184... which is better than the 210 I was up to again in October... When will I LEARN???????????????????
I also had my first severe asthma attack since I was 16. I got into something that I was apparently very allergic to when we were outside cleaning the yard up. That also landed me in the hospital for a bit, but I'm doing better now and no more attacks in a couple of weeks. :)
I just want to ask for your prayers this season. I can't get email and can't read the board like I wish I could because my computer is messed up, and I have to use a friends right now. But I'll feel it in my heart when you send the good thoughts and prayers. I'm just reminding myself over and over that being here with my family is much more important than gifts!
Thanks in advance for the prayers... I know you all are a great group of people who can lift my spirits with prayer :)
I hope everyone is healthy and happy, and is reminding themselves that we're all blessed to be here this Christmas season... and we will continue to keep ourselves on the path to getting healthier and making sure we're around for MANY more holiday's to come!!
Bless your families and friends... and you all... and I'll try and get back asap.
DEB - if you still have my number, I could use some encouragement if you feel like calling!!
Love you all!!
Bye
heartmom 12-13-2004, 09:51 PM Hey, guys. It's me again! Bored. LOL. I have been a bum all day, just lying around. So I just did a 2 mile walk(WATP) so now I feel like I didn't just waste the day. Robby went down to his friend's house to play the stupid Playstation. Apparently, it's much better on his friend's Plasma. It's getting kinda old, but I do get some "me" time. The kids are in the tub making too much racket,lol..so here I am. I need to find something constructive to do with my time tomorrow. There are times when I'm running around and there's simply not enough time to do everything I want to in the day. Then there are days like this, just boring. BETH- Don't know if you're able to read this or not. But prayers are being sent. Great going on getting back into those 14's.
Solly 12-14-2004, 12:00 PM Oh the goodoes are pouring in here today. Luckily there are some fruits, cheeses and summer sausages to go along with the cookies, nuts, candies, cakes. etc. It is so hard to leave it alone.
Beth, I'm so sorry to hear about your health problems. Try not to take the burden upon yourself. You can't do anythign about that. I'm glad you are getting it under control. I guess following this WOE will help too. You are in my prayers. try to have a nice Christmas. It's family and friends that really matter this time of year. God Bless.
Heart, it is a boring day here today. I don't have a lot of work to do and all I want to do is eat even though I'm not hungry.
Monet, have fun with Susan.
Bob, enjoy your last day at home.
I did get my 1.25 mile on the TM last night and 20 minutes of wt training. Wrapped a couple more items and called it a night.
Have a great day, the few of us that are here.
THE BIG ORANGE BABE 12-14-2004, 12:33 PM Hey Every Buddy!!!
Just a quick drive by this morning...getting ready to go to the Hospital to see the Health Nurse for the OK to go back to work....isn't it strange that my Doc says it's ok, but a Nurse has to OK it?
I'll check back in this afternoon!
BOB
Fillise 12-14-2004, 01:12 PM Hello all!
I'm sitting here waiting for Monet and her friend to arrive to go look at some of the artwork in my church. I'm looking forward to seeing her again!
My house has been a hive of activity today--got the vaccum cleaner out (cat under the bed), then the yard folks came with the leaf blowers (cat back under the bed), in a few minutes the doorbell will ring (cat under the bed AGAIN!). Miss Belle is NOT having a good morning!
Beth-It is SOOOOOO good to see you back on the board! I'm sorry to hear about your health troubles, but thrilled to hear that you BS is back down and so is your weight! I hope you will get on the board as often as you can. I know you feel bad, but it really isn't your fault and in the long run your children are better off having their Mom than anything else! Still, I know it's hard.
BOB--good luck with the nurse--glad the finger is um, relaxed and no longer at attention.
Jackie--Don't you get the feeling that everyone is pushing sweet this time of year? AARRGGHH! I have to admit that I didn't do so well with the chocolate fountain the second time around. It was white chocolate on Sunday. . .
Heart--Good for you for working out when bored instead of eating!!!!!
Just called Monet and they are in town, so I better go as they will be here in a minute.
Baby update--Saw my friend yesterdat--they are back from Boston laready! The baby was released 10 days early she was doing so well. They will have another surgery in a couple of years so we hope she can get bigger and stronger now!
Later,
Susan
THE BIG ORANGE BABE 12-14-2004, 04:15 PM AFTERNOON EVERY BUDDY !!!
I'm back from the Hospital...they didn't even look, touch, smell, NADA....my finger! Too bad is was as SUSAN said...relaxed!
They filled out a paper, signed it and sent me on my way!
Stopped by BLOCKBUSTER on the way home and picked up three movies....they are:
THE PRINCESS DIARIES 2...I loved the first one!
COLLATERAL....
WHITE CHICKS
I'm getting ready to bake a HUGE CHOCOLATE CAKE....to take to work tomorrow...everyone has been so kind to help with my work since I've been home, and it's the least that I can do!
I've got a load of laundry in the washer, dishes in the sink soaking and I'm watching a movie.
SUSAN enjoy your visit with Ellen and her Friend.
Poor MS BELLE...I thought she was getting over that shyness!
JACKIE...I plan to enjoy my last day at home...I just don't know what I want to do!
Tippy has crawled up in my lap...she's getting a bath later this afternoon, so I'm not sure if this is just her way of saying she's ready for one, or trying to talk me out of it!
Gotta run
BOB
kengjw 12-14-2004, 04:33 PM Good afternoon...
I have missed you all. I am still tired from last night's gathering with my friends. It was so wonderful to see them after 6 months. We stayed 1 hour away from each other which is not bad and yet we don't see each other often enough. There are 3 families (include us) and I am very close to one of the wives as she is from Malaysia as well. 2 of the families have (include ours) have a child but my malaysian girlfriend is pregnant right now. We are all so thrilled that we will have another little one to share our group. We had chinese food yesterday and I definitely didn't do well because they had General Tso chicken which is my fav!! I also had 2 to 3 small bites of the dessert because my tummy was letting me know that I had done enough damage for the night...lol. We planned to get together a day after Christmas again since our husbands are off this year which is quite rare to get everyone off at the same time. We will do potluck this time, maybe at my house.
This year, the holidays are even more special for me because Jess is growing older and dh has Christmas week off. I really want to have our own special traditions and have decided on few little things to do. I have never make hot coco so I thought Christmas eve night would be a good time to make it. I know dh will have the fireplace working so I will make hot coco topped with few marshmellow (I have never drank it with marshmellow but wants to try it...lol) and we will either watch a movie of Jess's choice or listen to the Christmas tunes. Jess added that she wants to have a blanket on her...lol. That girl certainly knows how to be comfy...lol. On Christmas morning, we will spend sometime on the bible and then open presents. After presents, we will have breakfast together. I am planning to make muffins, an egg and sausage casserole (or a simple but more fatty scrambled eggs with heavy cream and topped with sliced avocado which is soo good) and fruit salad. Of course, coffee will be served :) If my neighbors come, I will add some bacon or sausage. These are some of my plans but not sure if they will happen that way...LOL. Anyway, do you and your family have any traditions that you do for the holidays? Please feel free to share them.
REPLIES :
MONET : I know you and Fillise will have lots of fun. Hope you take it easy though :)
PANCHO : Mom's night out sounds great. Have a great time. There have been 2 times where I woke up in the morning, feeing so dizzy and sicked to my stomach. I threw up and then after that I was okay. I am waiting to see if it happens again but it hasn't for over a year now. Definitely get yourself check our if it happens again. Sorry to hear about your ticket. When my dh get his last ticket, he decided to go to court so it won't go to his driving record. I remember that was what he said. I have no idea you need to attend a class when you get a ticket, must be a different traffic law in where you are.
JACK-K : Isn't it nice to fit into your clothes that you thought you outgrown? Woo Hoo..I am happy for you. You have certainly done fantastic job on your exercise, it's time for some rewards :)
BOB : MY FIL thinks the current weather in West Palm Beach is too cold for him..lol. That is why he doesn't want to live in Georgia. When I was there a week ago, the weather was great, not humid at all. Glad your time at the hospital was easy and relaxed.
HEART : I am so sorry to hear about your uncle's deceased. I am so glad you have great memories of him in your heart. WTG on doing exercises when you are bored. That is so inspiring!!
BETH : You have such a great attitude and the right mind about what is going on in your life. I know every kids (or adults) love gifts but I am sure your kids are even more happy that they have a healthy mom to spend Christmas with them. Afterall, your love will make up for it. The kids are fine....they adapt well, much better than adults anyway :) Just replace the gifts will something more fun, meaningful, warms, things that will bring good memories for many years to come. I am so glad your bs is under-control and you are well now. I will be praying for you and your family.
FILLISE : Poor Ms Belle....I don't blame her not liking all the commotions...lol. Jess doesn't like machine noises too. Yesterday we were at our friends' house and they have 2 big dogs and 1 cat (the cat belongs to their grandma which just recently move in with my friends) and that poor cat is tramatized by the 2 dogs who always like to "play" with her. When we were there, she just hide herself in grandma's room under the blanket...lol. I don't blame her because the dogs were hyper, plus my dd was there...lol. Have fun meeting Monet and tell her to take it easy!
TECWIFE : *WAVING*. I think I am going to take the challenge...risk gaining that 10 lbs...lol. Hope you have a good day.
A nap would be good now but I doubt I will have any. I might lay down anyway. Will check in later.
Julia
THE BIG ORANGE BABE 12-14-2004, 06:49 PM EVENING EVERY BUDDY!!!!
Remember all that lovely, balmy, weather that I told y'all about just the other day? WELL...it's 54 degrees as we speak, the wind has picked up and it's going to be 38degrees at 7a.m.!!!!!!! Brrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr
JULIA...I don't know what the temp is over on the East Coast, but it's gonna be pretty dang cold here tonight! Congrats on your friends pregnancy!
NO BATH FOR TIPPY TODAY....she's so little that I'm afraid she'll get pneumonia! I've got the heat on, but with terrazzo floors, it's still cool in here! We'll wait till the weekend...
I've got to go fix some supper...chicken sounds like a winner to me....
Later
BOB
Ellen 12-15-2004, 12:37 AM Hey everyone! I walked in the door and literally went and peed and walked right back out again to go to the small group Christmas party. It was an all around horrible day where eating was concerned. I blew it at lunch and was a bad influence on Fillise....then at the party tonight there was nothing but my hummus and sweets! So, do you think I behaved? No...I ate all of it. I feel totally yucky now and I know I deserve every twinge.
My friend Tom and I felt the window art work we went to see was worth the trip. He took lots of pictures and said it inspired him to keep working on his drawing. We had a good time chatting there and back. I just love this guy...he is like a son, and his wife is such a dear! While we were driving back, his mother called. She lives out west, and I have met her, so he handed me the phone to talk to her. We were planning on tag teaming him with maternalness, which he was protesting loudly...saying it wasn't fair to join forces...tee hee!
It was great to see Susan...though our visit was a bit short. We only got a glimpse of Miss Belle as she ran for cover when we came in! We got to ride in Susan's new wheels...very nice! The weather was perfect...all around fun! Traffic was a bit bad coming home, but we made it in good time, and while we were late for small group, it wasn' t too bad!
I am totally zonked, and am going to bed. Maybe tonight I will sleep better! Night!
sebray 12-15-2004, 01:14 AM im am SUCH a dork  im not sure ill ever learn that every monday starts a new thread...someone should send me a pm monday mornings to remind me rofl...of course ive been reallllllllllly busy since sunday so i havent had time to breathe let alone sit at the computer...really quick ill fill you in...i wont be able to do replies but know that i think about you all several times a day and pray for all of you....have to hit the bed soon...got my finals in the morning
child support court was a total BUST!!! :( he never got served with the papers cause the post office sent them back saying 'addressee unknown' and the child support office knew about this since october and didnt tell me!!!!! so i called him and cussed him out but he said there was no reason for him not to get them (i think his current gf told the postman he didnt live there although he said she wouldnt do that  ) so i called the lawyer back and yelled at her and im hoping *crosses fingers* that i got it straight and they'll resend the summons...he wants to pay child support but needs the offical order before he can start paying (i know that sounds weird and if someone asks about it ill fill you in on the details later...i just dont have time right now)
kevin went to the hospital today to get a colonoscopy done...poor baby :( but the doc said everything was fine and he was very healthy!!! :D this is great news cause colon cancer runs in his family and he's been having some concerns lately....
and tomorrow morning is my finals and then im off for a month  i cant wait to get this over with lol...i just spent all day craming for it :o
well im off to bed ladies...hope everyone has a wonderful night
Teensybean 12-15-2004, 02:34 AM Hey you all-- I have such a hard time getting on the computer when the boys are here. And we have had company for the last week. And more is expected up until Christmas. I just hope that you all know that I think of you and wish all of you big losses for each week. Will check in when I can......have alot more baking to do also. Hope that I can resist better than I did when I made chocolate chip cookies on Monday!! I ate 3 cookies!!!
Ellen 12-15-2004, 08:52 AM Good Morning! I actually think I slept fairly well last night! Two sessions of four hours interrupted by a bathroom run in the middle! I did not roll over and look at the clock every one to two hours... I don't even want to think that all the junk I ate last night contributed to a good night sleep...so I will say it was from the long day of a trip to Auburn, which was not bad, but coming home and heading out the door immediately with no rest was exhausting, and a late party.
KENG: Our family had a few traditions we always followed. When I was a kid, we lined up according to age and marched into the living room on Christmas morning to open presents. This was a big deal as there were six kids in my family. My kids never wanted to do that, so they just went and found their favorite spot. In my family we took turns passing out the presents, then opened them all at once. In my husbands family, his father passed out the presents one at a time, and everyone watched. We do it that way in our family. Its very nice as it makes the present opening last a long time. My husband often wears a silly hat while he passes out the presents which always delighted the kids. After presents were stockings, then breakfast. We always have sausage balls. I don't know why...we just do. :) I tried for many years to establish a tradition of reading the Christmas story in the Gospel of Luke on Christmas eve, but as the kids got older and life more hectic, and they moved into their own places, that tradition kind of died. We do attend Christmas eve service at church usually. This year, we are going to our daughter's for Christmas. They just bought a house and want to have us come there...so we agreed. They even suggested we come spend the night. I am not sure if we will do that. :) I do know that Christmas dinner will be memorable, as Erik is cooking. (he is a chef...)
TEENSY: We miss you, but I am glad you are enjoying having all your boys around! I can't scold you about the cookies...I have been awful! Skittles, cookies, rice krispie treats, 'puppy chow' (that chocolate covered snack mix with powdered sugar...). I felt positively gross last night...I think I am ready to get back on the straight and narrow.
SEBRAY: I hope your finals go well! I remember those days.. My daugther has finals this week, but you would never know it from how she acts! She drove a friend to get her license at a patrol station two and a half hours away from here because she could not get an appointment closer in this time of year, then they spent the night at a friends in Macon....I have NO idea when she intends to study! If she fails, and loses her HOPE grant, guess who is going to be paying her college bills? (and we her parents are NOT one of the choices!)
techwife 12-15-2004, 10:39 AM Sebray: I hear ya with the child support/family court frustrations. Shelley's dad - I mean genetic contributor :dizzy: - has paid exactly $125 dollars in child support ever. So you know, we left when she was six month old and she'll be eleven years old in May. BUT, when the child support payer is on welfare, he/she only has to pay $25 a month and then that is only when they can afford it...NYstate won't enforce the payments because they are incredibly soft on people that don't work. So, after five payments and him finding out that they won't enforce it, he just plain stopped paying. Then only showed up for his visitation 12% of the time (I kept a journal and added it up) until we moved three hours away and now he hasn't seen her in four and a half years because he doesn't have the interest to persue it. I think it's sad that she's growing up not knowing him, but now she doesn't have the disappointment and heart ache of him not showing up and us fighting. And my husband loves her to pieces and they get along great. When we moved here, he told her that she could call him Daddy if she wants to because she deserves to go to bed at night and be able to say "Good night, Daddy." Yesterday he came home with four Harry Potter posters from a drug store he services that they were tossing out from a display and he picked her up some stocking stuffers for christmas, etc. Anyway...I hear ya with the family court frustrations. Shelley wants my husband to adopt her, but I know we'll have to ask the 'donor' to sign her over and we just don't want to stir the waters. Her last name is my maiden name, anyway, because I wasn't married to the donor.
Anyhow...good news!! One more pound down!! Check out the ticker!! I'm now fitting into my husbands jeans that were, at one time, too uncomfortable!! Size 14, here I come!!
Bye, guys!! Techwife...
sebray 12-15-2004, 03:50 PM well finals are over :D :cheer:  im sooo excited!!!! i think i did pretty good...got my final grade for my speech class, A :) and i think i got a B on my philosophy final so i should have an A or B in that class (im hoping an A) .... im mentally drained right now so im gonna go play a mindless game to help me unwind.....
still hanging in at 174....could it be i hit my plateu???? i hope not...cant let tech beat me :lol:of course i forgot to weigh myself this morning...slept late and almost was late for my finals
ill check back in later tonight or tomorrow...although im not too sure...my parents have decided to come visit me so i have to power clean my house :(
kengjw 12-15-2004, 04:20 PM Yikes...10 days left and I have yet to send my Christmas cards out. I still haven't make my list yet...lol. I didn't weigh in today or the last few days because I had not eat as well as I had planned. Dh brought home some indian bread which I love so much so I cannot resist having some with some curries. Absolutely delicious especially at chilly days like these.
I started off my day at Jess's dentist office for her bi-annual check-up and then did some cleaning and laundry. So, it has been a productive day so far. At least the house looks more manageable right now :)
Some replies :
BOB : 38 degrees is cold...hope you kept yourself warm :)
MONET : Sounds like you had a great time with your friend Tom, his wife and Fillise as well. Hope you can take it easy today :) Your traditions sound great. I am just starting mine for my little family. Growing up, Christmas wasn't celebrate as big as Chinese New Year so there wasn't much I remember for this holiday. All I remember was having an artificial Christmas tree and some "fake" presents nicely wrapped under the tree every year...lol. Oh, I remember going to church every Christmas morning. Oh, a chef is cooking, I would not turn it down....lol. I know you will have some yummy Christmas menu to report to us.
SEBRAY : Sorry to hear about your child suport issues. I hope it will be straighten out soon and your ex can start paying it. Kevin have my sympathy on the colonoscopy procedure since I had mine done in Oct. I didn't not have family history of colon cancer but my family dr saw tiny weeny blood in my stool so he gave me an excuse to go for extra follow up. I was fine...and shouldn't need to do that procedure hopefully until I am 50...lol. It gives me some peace that's for sure. Congrats on your excellent results!! Yes, please unwind your brain and relax. You have done well. I am sure your parents visit will help as well :) Enjoy! Oh, don't worry about maintaining this week...you are doing great!
TEENSY : I have missed you!!! I am glad all is well and you are enjoying your sons company and more company of family and friends. Take care and check in whenever you can.
TECHWIFE : Yeahhh!! 1 lb down. Keep making those wonderful decisions!
Okay, I got to go brown some chicken thigh to put them into the crockpot. Yep, that's for tomorrow's lunch. Will chat later! Stay warm :)
Julia
THE BIG ORANGE BABE 12-15-2004, 06:19 PM EVENING EVERY BUDDY!!
Went back to work this morning. I had a really hard time going to sleep as I've been staying up really late watching movies and reading this past two and a half weeks.
When I got up this morning, the weatherman was true to his words...it was 38 degrees and man was it cold! The wind was whipping around like I can't even imagine to begin telling you! It was litterally too cold to take Tippy out, and I gave her permission to tinkle on the rug in the bathroom as I can wash that with no problem!
It's been a busy day around my place of business! At 1pm, we had a shooting across the street that the Police think was drug related...BAY FLIGHT brought the big copter and landed to take the person shot to Tampa to the Trauma hosiptal. The shooter ran for it and he hasn't been found...THEN...about 1 mile away, a hand granade was found just lying in the street! A BUSY STREET!!!! The bomb squad took care of that!
The temp is falling as I sit here and will be a little warmer in the morning at 42 degrees, but the windshield will be at 35 degrees! Supposed to be this way through Christmas! My Brother won't like it, he's expecting to wear his shorts and flip flops!
My hand did ok with the typing today, but I found that holding a pen was rough and I had some nerve pain doing it. I need to call the Doc and let him know, because he didn't know when he released me to come back to work if I would have any limitations or not.
I'm in the middle of cooking supper, so I'll check in with y'all later for some replies!
BOB
techwife 12-15-2004, 06:21 PM Did someone say cold? This morning, here in the North Country, it was ONE LONELY LITTLE DEGREE OUTSIDE!! Hardly worth counting if you ask me...but that's normal around here in the winter, but usually not until more like January or February. Oh, well...we'll get used to it early...
Techwife
I'll see you in the 160's, Sebray!! I'm sure you'll catch up with me soon...I just had four illegal-as-it-gets cookies that I made for my relatives. There goes that one pound!!
Ellen 12-15-2004, 10:33 PM Evening! Today was a better day eating wise...dinner was pretty good. I made country fried steak, using ww flour, and just a little oil. We had ww noodles to put the gravy on, and green bean casserole. I ruined it by eating a couple skittles after dinner, but I am going to try and encourage myself, since it has been a better day than the last seven.... ;)
I have been totally exhausted today. I took two naps...one this morning, and one this afternoon! In between the naps, I went to the credit union, and got my car's emission inspection. It did not pass..I needed a new gas cap! Tom went and got one tonight, and tomorrow, will go back and get the gas cap retested, so the car will be done. Unfortunately, Laura's car did NOT pass...and he is going to have to have the catalytic converter replaced on it. That car has been nothing but expense lately!
I have to go do more chores...sigh. I hope I can sleep tonight!
Fillise 12-16-2004, 10:18 AM Morning Everyone!
I didn't have a chance to get on yesterday and this will have to be short as i have a full day ahead. Clients all know I'm leaving town for the holidays next week and they are piling the work on!!!!!
I had a great visit with Monet and her friend on Tuesday. I wish all of you could meet Monet ftf--she is so wonderful! Of course she came loaded with flour, ww piecrusts, and ww waffles (which I will have for breakfast in just a minute). Of course, the best part was just visiting! We went to the church to look at the artwork and then to lunch--I'm not sure who was the bad influence on whom, but neither one of us was good! Her friend is a real cutie too!
Sorry I can't go on longer, but the work gremlins are calling. Maybe later tonight I can respond to everyone. I notice that the holiday dropoff has started, but that's to be expected this time of year. Of course we will be soon have all the new folks making their new years resolutions on SB for 2005!
Have a great OP day,
Susan
techwife 12-16-2004, 10:35 AM Hey, everyone...check out my ticker!!
I got on the scale this morning reluctantly because yesterday I was a bad girl to the max. I have six boxes of gifts and cookies to ship out to Rochester, Florida and California and I absolutely have to get things out today...so I had to shop for a few last gifts, bake cookies and go to my daughter's Christmas concert. I'm not organized in the least, so this took up all the time I would have had to cook proper SB meals. So, I skipped breakfast, got my son some chicken nuggets at MCD's and didn't feel like salad, so I skipped lunch...not even a diet coke...came home and made chocolate chip cookies with real sugar, real butter, white flour, white chocolate chips, chocolate chips and m&ms...oatmeal cookies with real sugar, white flour and raisins and walnuts (okay, so the walnuts are legal) and ate at least two of each to be sure they were good enough for gifts. THEN, I had to get my daughter ready for the concert and made them grilled cheese for dinner and I didn't feel like dinner after all those cookies, so I skipped dinner as well, then after the concert I had some cheese and triscuits at around 9:30pm. Bad, bad, bad...BUT I LOST A POUND?!?! Go figure...but I'll take it, just the same, baby!!
So, now I'm officially at 170...160's HERE I COME!!! :strong:

Ellen 12-16-2004, 11:10 AM Morning! After my post last night, I crawled in bed, and made poor Tom, my longsuffering husband, make his own lunch and clean the kitchen. I was out by ten. I slept until 1, then woke up at 2:30, 3:30, 4:15 and stayed awake until 5, then woke when Tom's alarm went off at 6, and woke up when he kissed me goodbye at 7:15, and finally got up for good at 7:45. Needless to say, I feel crabby, crantankerous, tired, and volcanic. I need to wear a shirt that says that, so my family will know to walk like on egg shells around me. ;) For some reason, the dinner we had seemed to be part of my problem. I felt positively gross by the time I woke up at 1. I keep saying I am going to quit eating dinner, but Tom likes dinner, and wants me to serve him a meat and two vegetables when he is done with his workout in the evening. I don't have the willpower to fix him dinner and not eat myself. It does seem to be the only time we can sit down together as a family, but the kids are going in all directions, and its usually just the two of us. I should just sit and talk, but the food is too tempting. I need to figure something out though, as I just can't go on like this. I am feeling really down about the whole weight issue...and eating a dinner I can tell my body does not want or need is really not helping.
This morning, I decided to try and cut out some of the starches, so for breakfast, I had three eggs, and three strips of bacon, and a green tipped banana. (no, bananas are not legal, but I need the potassium for leg cramps) I am going to try and limit my starches to things other than wheat for a few days. I am not sure if this is going to help at all, but its worth a try. Atkins of course, is always a temptation. I don't lose on it, but it helps my insulin levels.
TECH: Hooray for your loss! If I had done what you did, I would be up three! :( Make sure you get back on the straight and narrow today!
FILLISE: I clearly remember WHOSE voice called to the waitress and said, "I'd like an order of...." Of course, Tom is the one who said make it a medium! I love blaming things on him! He is the one that got me to dance at the party Friday night, and I am STILL paying for it! Thanks for the tour. Tom was stoked about it. I bet he carries his sketch book to DC.
Time to run James to work, then get my car emissions inspection taken care of!
sebray 12-16-2004, 11:19 AM well my scale hasnt moved not one iota :( but at least its not going up :)
:cheer: YAY TECH....heck at least one of us is losing weight
well need to run to go to my sons xmas party at school....my parents will be here sometime tomorrow and im so stressed out that i havent been able to start cleaning...someone kick me in the bum please
Toni48 12-16-2004, 11:51 AM Just checking in. I'm doing horrible with my eating. But wanted all of you not to forget me. Will keep reading the boards and come back when I can.
Solly 12-16-2004, 01:27 PM Just a quickie,
Yesterday was my meeting day and when I got back it was one problem after another and today isn't any better.
Getting my treadmill in every night. I am determined. Tonight we have dinner with friends so I want to run home and get my 20 minutes in before going out. Scale is crazy this week so I'm not even worrying about it. I have been legal all week and exercising like crazy so who knows what's up.
So far I have amnaged to avoid all the goodies. Someone just brought me a box of Godiva chocolates and an Whitman's sampler. Good thing I don't care for choc candy. It's the salty crunchy stuff I have trouble with.
Got to run. Hope to get back later for replies.
THE BIG ORANGE BABE 12-16-2004, 06:21 PM EVENING EVERY BUDDY!!
Well, It's warmer today...70 degrees, but we have another cold front coming and I'm going to be prepared this time! I think I've been in Florida too long....
I'm beginning to be cold when everyone else it down here! When I moved here in 1988, I used to laugh at everyone when the temp plunged....out came the wool, hats, gloves...etc....BUT....now I'm just like everyone else!
Anyone watching the Apprentice? Tonight is the finale....
I've got to fix supper, so I'll be back later...just wanted to pop in and say hi!
BOB
Ellen 12-16-2004, 08:18 PM How strange! I got on here and posted this afternoon, and the post is gone! I must have punched the wrong button!
I can't remember what I said, except that I went to Curves for the first time since my surgery today. I only did one time around the circuit, and avoided the ab machines. It felt good to be moving, and I think I had more energy this afternoon. I was going to walk too, but Tom told me to walk tomorrow instead.
I also was bad again this afternoon. I did not want to eat anything with wheat, and I felt rather munchy. The bags of skittles were staring at me, so I made a bowl of popcorn and ate it. THEN, I had a handful of the dang skittles anyway. Dinner tonight was a bowl of brussel sprouts. Tom is off at a cocktail party in his office park, and was going to munch down on the spread there.
BOB: Growing up in Chicago, cold was nothing...now it drops to the upper thirties and I am freezing! Am I getting old? Maybe I ought to spend a week in Chicago in the winter and get reaclimated to the temps.... Its so cold here, I even put on socks and walking shoes, instead of my birkenstocks!
SEBRAY: >>KICK<< Get cleaning, woman! I do that all the time...I keep putting it off until I have to fly around like a mad woman trying to get everything done. Flylady helped me a lot....but now I just don't care what others think!
JACK: Send those Godivas down here! I mean, what are friends for!? I can't believe chocoalte is not a temptation for you....anything sweet is for me. Unfortunately, so are salty, crunchy, sour, savory....sigh.
TONI: You don't have to be eating well to post. We are all (well, most of us) in the same boat! Posting may help you get back on track. We miss you when you are not here!
I let James take my car this afternoon. I hope he brings it back sometime soon! :) He always works late, but Thursday is trivia day, so he may go right over there. Dang...and here I am stuck at home with no wheels! I could be out shopping! (yuck!)
techwife 12-16-2004, 08:29 PM Finally I'm done with shopping, shipping and spending for the inlaws and outlaws!! Two boxes went to California, two to Florida (Arcadia for those who live there!) and four to Rochester. Over $50 in shipping costs! Not bad, last year I think it was in the $80's! Christmas cards are out. Now I can concentrate on my own kids and my poor neglected husband. I feel like the weight of the world has been lifted from my shoulders. Now I can also concentrate on eating properly and some of the projects I've been putting off, like painting my Christmas village and an afghan I'm making.
Okay...off to watch part of a movie with the kids and then maybe sneak in a nice, hot bath after they go to sleep!! I just got a good Johanna Lindsay book from the library today after the kids were at Story Hour.
Hope everyone has a great night!!
Techwife
Anyone for a prediction on when I finally get into the 160's or if I stay at my usual 170 plateau??
Ellen 12-16-2004, 11:05 PM Tom and I went to Wal Mart tonight and got a natural sleep aid recommended on the hysterectomy board. I hope it helps! They say to use one to three, so I took two! If I can get more than four hours of sleep in, I will be very excited! The ladies on the hyst board said it worked pretty well...one was really excited about it. I hope I can report good things in the morning!
TECH: Yay! I know that feels good to have that done. I need to get stuff for my inlaws and get it mailed. I got gift cards to Wal Mart for the twins. They are nine... I am getting gift cards for all of them, I think, so I can mail it in a big envelope. I need to get that done on Monday. Its only got to go to south Georgia, so it can get there in a day or two. :) I will feel much better when its in the mail!
sebray 12-17-2004, 02:03 AM Monet: thanks for the kick hon :D ...kevin got home late from work and helped me clean the living room and the kitchen (he cleaned the kitchen floor for me :D ) all i have left to do in those rooms is dust and unload the dishwasher...still have a couple more loads of laundry to do, my kids rooms and bathroom, and my room and bathroom....seems like a lot but the rooms are really small and the kids ARE going to clean their own rooms....i will end up being devil mommy tomorrow i can see it now  at least i got the two biggest and hardest rooms almost done :)
well its 1am and im exhausted so im gonna hit the hay.....my parents will be here tomorrow evening some time so i have some time left to finish up my cleaning :) wish me luck with them...this is the first time since i moved out years ago that they are acctually coming to visit so im nervous....but the kids are excited :) it might be a day or two before i have the time to post but im thinking about everyone :)
sebray 12-17-2004, 02:04 AM monet: what is the name of that sleep aid?? let me know if it works, i may try it...im getting desperate :(
Ellen 12-17-2004, 08:33 AM Good Morning! I did sleep better last night. I woke up a couple of times, but nothing like usual! And when I did wake up, I was able to go right back to sleep. Tonight, I think I will try three tablets and see if I do even better. I have to hop in the shower in a few, and then get James up. I need to get down to the church office early to do the worship guides, so Laura can use my car for her final and to go to work. Her car is at the mechanics...in order to pass emissions it needs a new catalytic converter. Ouch! We have spent so much money on that car since we got it...it is awful! I think we have spent over $3k on it in the last three months!
SEBRAY: The name of the sleep aid is Calms Forte'. They have it at Wal Mart with the vitamins. It comes in a little blue box, and is $3.97. Try it! It's all herbal, and not habit forming. Its not so much that if it doesn't work, you are going to feel cheated!
kengjw 12-17-2004, 10:19 AM Good morning..
I typed a post yesterday but somehow pushed the wrong button and it was gone. I couldn't retrieve it because a phone call came in and I had to cut the line. Argh...DSL would be nice...lol.
Dh took yesterday off so we spent some quality time together doing nothing at home. Dh did get out and chopped the wood and Jess and I gave him our emotional support...LOL. For some strange reasons, I felt sicked to my stomach yesterday. It was like there was a hugh balloon in my tummy and it couldn't get out. I felt nauseated but eventually took a little walk to the bathroom and suddenly I was fine. I feel my energy was drained out of me from that experience. I feel okay this morning but still don't feel quite 100% yet. I am going to watch myself and see how I feel.
Menu for today...
Breakfast : No appetize but I am going to eat something light though.
Snack : Fruits
Lunch : Baked crab, shrimp and fish casserole, roasted veggies and baked sweet potatoes.
Snack : Fruits and nuts.
Dinner : Leftover from lunch.
FILLISE : Hope your day was less stressful than it sounds. I am glad you had a great time with Monet and her company.
TECHWIFE : 1 lb is one lb, I will take it and run!! lol. Now, keep those snacks around if you do not have time to eat properly :)
MONET : Why can't you eat dinner? Did you had big snack before dinner? Eat lighter dinner perhaps?
SEBRAY : Maintaining is a victory by itself because gaining is so easy to do. So, I say you are doing fantastic, just keep making those great decisions! Now relax, your parents comes to see you and your family not how clean your house is so please take it easy and do not get stress by their visit. {{hugs}}}
TONI : We have missed you!! I second what Monet says, you do not have to post here when you are eating well. No one is perfect so please post anytime and we are here for you. I have not been doing too good either, not too terrible but I can do better.
JACK-K : I am as amazed as you are. You are amazing with your efforts to be better. WTG on those exercises and resisting the temptations. That shows a lot on your willpower. Great Job.
BOB : I think our body adjust to our surrounding so that is totally understandable why you can't stand cold as much as you used to. I am definitely getting better as taking cold since being in GA and I really love it. We are warming up a little today and tomorrow but will soon have another cold front coming in. Stay warm :)
MONET : Great job on going to Curves. Now, get those Skitty out of sight...lol.
Alright, got to go. I need to figure out what to eat for breakfast and then need to tidy up my house. Will check in later.
Julia
Solly 12-17-2004, 10:33 AM Good Friday Morning.
I really don't want to be here today (at work, not the board). Just not in the frame of mind to do this today.
I have a question. Is wild rice legal? I can't remember.
I am so proud, I have gotten my treadmill in 6 days this week. Ususally take Saturdays off. The scale was better today too.
The big UK vs UL bb game is tomorrow. We are not going nor going to a party. Think we will just stay home and watch it alone. It starts at noon and that is too early to go out and party.
Monet, good job getting to curves. That will surely give you more energy. Glad the sleeping aid helped. I'd send you the Godivas in a heartbeat, but I don't think I would be doing you any favors.
Bob, I'll trade you places. I hate this cold weather. We are expecting lots of snow Sunday. Yuk!
Tech, Glad you are finished with your shopping. Now you can do the fun things. I still have a couple things to pick up, no big deals.
Sebray, have fun with your paraents. Remember they are coking to spend time withyou. Enjoy.
Ken, sorry you are feeling poorly. My tummy is upset today too. Hope it's not a bug.
Have a great day. Will try to check back later.
kengjw 12-17-2004, 01:56 PM I just came home from Publix, getting my final gift for Christmas. This is for our church on Sunday so I am glad to get it done. Lunch is in the oven so I am really happy that I do not have to use any pots and pans.
JACK: I believe wild rice is legal and it is actually not a type of rice, just "seeds". I believe it is also very healthy to eat too. So, eat away!
Okay, better go check on my lunch. Will check in later.
Julia
GatorGal 12-17-2004, 01:57 PM Jackie--I'll be pulling for the Wildcats against UL. The Gators lost to them by 4 points, but trailed the whole game. I was happy they didn't lose by more. Pitino has a well coached team. They were unbelievable from the 3 point line.
Monet--My DH just brought some sleep aid home from the holistic doctor. It is mostly calcium, so for anyone having trouble sleeping, try calcium before going to bed. I usually take 1500 gms. or whatever units it comes in.
I had my yearly phys. yesterday. All systems look good. The doctor said that I am one of those persons who just tends to hold on to weight. He said that if I lived in upper Siberia, I would be the "clan leader" because holding weight is valuable there. Unfortunately, in Fla. it is not.
I jsut got back from UPS and have gotten everything mailed. I baked my Mom a cake and mailed it earlier in the week. I took it to a pack and send and by the time they packed it and all, it cost $25 to mail. Yikes! The other 3 packages I sent today were much less. I am gonna call the post office with the weight info, and addresses and see if they could get the same packages to destination in the same time as UPS, and what the cost would be. I was just afraid the PO would not be able to deliver.
I am working with my mentoree today on her mid-term exams studying. It is amazing how casually these kids take exams, planning to wait until 2 or 3 hours before the test to begin studying. I hope she learned that good preparation can yield good benefits.
Gotta go. I have a lot of housework to do now, so need to run.
My weight is the same. No changes.
Eating: OK to mediocre.
Ellen 12-17-2004, 02:16 PM Monet is stuck at home again... :( Went and did my volunteer work at the church office, came home and took James to work...I tried to get him up at 8 to leave at 9, and he fell back asleep so he had to wait until 11...and then Laura took my car to her final, then to work. I hope her car is done today, so I can have mine back.
I forgot to mention earlier that I weighed this morning. I was pleased that I had lost five pounds since Wednesday morning. I am sure a lot of it was water retention from the swelling I am having, but I am also sure that skipping, or eating a very light supper helps.
KENG: I have been feeling sick to my stomach lately a lot...I think its a bug. My daughter has had something she thought was food poisoning, but I think it has to be a virus. I feel bloated and gross. I am going to try passing on dinner for a while, as I always feel awful when I eat dinner, and when I eat something light, like veggies only, I seem to find that is when I lose. You have to consider I am 51...and the older you get the funnier the system tends to get.
JACK: Woo hoo! Awesome on the treadmill! Can you come kick me into gear, and get me on my treadmill? Tell me how long you stay on, and what speed you walk at?? Maybe I can try to stimulate my competitive side and get on mine too.
GATOR: I am so jealous that you are all done with sending stuff! I have to get going on the package to send to my hubby's family in south Georgia. It ought to be easy..mostly gift cards, but he is dragging his feet on amounts and such. I think the PO does ok, but tends to cost more than UPS. For somethings, its better. Priority mail for somethings is cheaper. I do a lot of buying online, and I find many places use both, depending on how fast you want it. If you want it fast, it is usually sent priority mail.
THE BIG ORANGE BABE 12-17-2004, 04:54 PM AFTERNOON EVERY BUDDY!!
We went to luch at APPLEBEE'S today...I had the small sirloin and steamed veggies....got back up to the office, and LOST MY LUNCH!!! This crap is getting pretty damn old! I sure hope that 2005 is better for BOB! It's for sure that 2004 has pretty much sucked!
I think that I'm going to have to stop eating processed food again...it not only helps me lose weight better, but I think my system just doesn't like it!
I've got a CHRISTMAS PARTY to go to tomorrow night, and I sure don't want to be feeling puny!
MONET...I can't believe that you put REAL SHOES ON!!!!! I don't think I could live without my BIRKS!!! Of course, most of mine are open toed...I only have one pair that are clogs...Sorry you've got the tummy blues..maybe I'm having sympathy gut for you?????
I think you're going to have to buy yourself a scooter! At least you would be able to get around!
JULIA...It was a little warmer this morning...in the 50's when I got out to get the paper...Tippy still didn't think it was warmer...she did her business and ran back inside! We have another cold front coming and it's going to be even colder than before! It's dreary outside now and it looks like a cold winter day out there!
JACKIE....Hope that snow stays away...Cathy and Greg are in Etown at his parents until the 22nd, but my Brother is going out there Sunday...
Kate has already said she's tuning in to TUBBY tomorrow...she loves to watch UK BASKETBALL ....since THE VOLS never seem to show up for basketball! They SUCK AT ROUND BALL!!!
Good going on that treadmill...I might have to dust mine off and get to walking myself!
ALISON.... you're as bad as me for staying up late! I was up until 1 a.m. this morning, and when that clock alarmed, it took all I could do to pull my big arse out of the bed!
TECH...I've got one more to buy, but still have to ship to KY...
GATOR...do your cakes make it in one piece? I've never shipped anything like that...
Well, I've got to get off here....I've still got to watch COLLATERAL and WHITE CHICKS....I want to go get PERFECT OPPOSITES and THE DOOR IN THE FLOOR
Later
BOB
Ellen 12-17-2004, 05:45 PM Just got in from getting Laura's car. That girl is going to drive me crazy! She came home early...and told me they had changed the date of her final to Wednesday, so she missed it! She was going by the syllabus. It was an online class, and the page where they put the change of time and date was one she never went to. I have NO idea what the professor is going to do on this....
Her car costed $265! Man, will it ever end?
BOB: Scooter? No way! I couldn't get anywhere with one of those. The grocery store is seven miles...the church office ten....the church 15.... We are not shoe lovers here. Tom goes everywhere barefoot. During the summer he organized a men's camping trip with the young guys from church. They hiked nine miles of the Benton McKay trail in north Georgia...and Tom wowed those young guys by doing it barefoot!
Solly 12-17-2004, 05:58 PM Gator, I was disappointed that the Gator's didn't beat the sock off UL. Hope we can do it tomorrow, but it is a very emotional game and you never know who will win.
Moneet, I wall at 3.7 to 4.1 mph and walk for 1.25 miles. I have it downt o 20 minutes. I try to beat it every time too. I also try to job 3 times for a shortime.
Bob, tell Kate to cheer loudly for the Cats.
Time to go home. Have a great weekend everyone.
sebray 12-17-2004, 11:51 PM well my parents were here and we met them for dinner and then went back to their hotel room to sit and chat...as soon as we got in the room my booys stripped off their clothes and got under the covers and said goodnight...my dad said 'well looks like their staying here tonight' so now im at home just me and keving....no kids...sparkly clean house...and nothing to do!!!! im so lost...its been over a year since the kids have gone anywhere without me besides school and i think their getting the better end of this deal...im acctually thinking about sleeping in devon's bed just to seem closer to him http://pages.prodigy.net/rogerlori1/emoticons/crap.gif all this and my parents didnt even come within 30 miles of my house!!!! BUT tomorrow im going to MAKE them come over cause i know i didnt clean for nothing!!!
hey monet ...... can i get i ride on your scooter???? http://pages.prodigy.net/rogerlori1/emoticons/laughing.gif
well i think im gonna relax for a bit then go to bed...night all
Ellen 12-18-2004, 12:34 AM My hand hurts. I have been playing Insaniquarium for too long... Thanks BOB! It was that Real Arcade that got me going on it. I love that game. I just finished beating it for the third time and unlocked all the goodies. The last one was such a disappointment. :(
SEBRAY: That is funny about the kids! Time with the grandparents is good for them. Can't you just tell your parents you want them to come to your house, that it means a lot to you? They may think they are doing you a favor....parents can be kind of clueless sometimes....
JACK: I am going to have to work up to that speed. I am doing more of an ambling walk right now. Much faster, and it makes my belly swell. :( Golly, woman, 4.1 IS running... ;)
I think I will take my sleep stuff and climb in bed. Last night, the restless leg syndrome drove me crazy. I hope I don't have that tonight!
sebray 12-18-2004, 11:40 AM well i managed to get to sleep ok last night :) and i slept very soundly too :) this morning we met my parents for breakfast and then they took us to walmart and bought the kids new jackets and some socks ... my dad also surprised me with a check for $200 to get my heater fixed http://pages.prodigy.net/rogerlori1/emoticons/swoon.gif then i asked them if they could come to the house so i could take some pictures cause i left my camera there ...they came and saw my sparkly clean house :D they just left to go back home and my dad said he'd be back in april cause he's retireing then and is going to drive his harley across country to california to see his mom :)
the visit went very well and im soooo relieved its over
i need to run and figure out what to make the kids for lunch...hope everyone has a great day...
oh and i gave my stepmom my SB book so she could read about it...ive done nothing but rave about it and she was curious to know ;)
sebray 12-18-2004, 11:42 AM btw this was the first time kevin met my parents and it went very well on both sides...my dad was impressed with him and kevin liked my dad too :D
Ellen 12-18-2004, 11:44 AM Oh, dear! The board sure has been slow this week!
I hope everyone is doing well. I slept much better last night...I feel hopeful! Today, we are going to try and finish up the shopping for Tom's family and mail it.
My husband has turned into a lucky guy! He won a $50 gift certificate at the party at work yesterday! The night before, at the office park party, he won a satellite radio worth $100! The gift certificate we can use, but satellite radio is too trendy for us!
Hope everyone is doing well... I will check in later to see is anyone else is around, or I am talking to myself!
Ellen 12-18-2004, 11:46 AM SEBRAY: We were posting at the same time! Glad the visit went well, and you got them to the house! ;) Hopefully, this will be the start of a better relationship for you. Maybe the stepmom will like SB, and it will help you develop a good relationship with her as an SB mentor....
techwife 12-18-2004, 12:00 PM Sebray: Isn't that the way? I remember when Shelley's paternal grandmother came to town and hinted that her and her daughter would like to borrow my car. Well, my car looks like a gypsy lives it always, so I spent a ton of time cleaning it, detailing it, and even took it to Delta Sonic for a professional cleaning...then had a full tank of gas and then she said "We decided to borrow my friend's car, instead." After all that time and expense! Oh, well, at least I had a clean car for about a day or two.
AND...check out the ticker!! I'm definitely over my slump!! :D
Keeping my fingers crossed...techwife
Toni48 12-18-2004, 01:24 PM Good Saturday morning all. I'm trying to get in the mood to make candy for my DH work. I've sure been having trouble making it this year. Maybe my subconsious wants me to stay away from sugar. LOL...... Then Tuesday is his Christmas party at work. But he volunteered me to bring the green beans and I guess some yeast rolls. I've got all my stuff mailed and am ready for Christmas. Ahhhh sigh of relief!!!! Now I can enjoy the rest of the days. Just a little baking to do. Sounds like everyone is busy. Have a great week end....
THE BIG ORANGE BABE 12-18-2004, 07:19 PM I've just got one thing to say! OH MY GAWD!!!!!
I'VE BEEN TO THE MALL TODAY!!!!http://pages.prodigy.net/indianahawkeye/newpage04/20.gif
It was a zoo! http://pages.prodigy.net/rogerlori1/emoticons/falling_money.gif http://pages.prodigy.net/rogerlori1/emoticons/monrur.gif
I did all my other shopping on line, but my BROTHER, wanted a particular kind of shirt....so off we went...first we went to get our hair cut, then into the traffic we went! http://pages.prodigy.net/indianahawkeye/newpage13/2.gifhttp://pages.prodigy.net/indianahawkeye/newpage13/6.gif
Kate enjoyed getting out though and I was able to get a wheel chair there. After we bought his shirts, we went to Beth and Body Works....they have the BEST Christmas candles and plug ins with the same scent....they smell like Christmas Trees...
THEN...off to YANKEE CANDLE to get Tracy some tarts...found out something I didn't know while I was there...if you buy a dozen of them, they reduce the price down to $1 a piece....so I got her a dozen...I got her a beautiful gold locket as her main gift...Jeff is working on reducing a picture of Ethan and one of him to go into it.
Ethan's CLARA THE ROCKY COW came yesterday and she is adorable! http://www.babystyle.com/common/dProductFrame.asp?DepartmentID=37&CategoryID=29&SubCategoryID=140&ClassID=647
On the left side, click on Clara the Cow
I've still got to go to the UPS store and mail Cathys box. I was waiting on one more thing to be delivered and it came Thursday...Y'all have got to see this...got to www.QVC.com and in the search box enter H78557 and when the page opens, click on more views This makeup keeper is DA BOMB!
I ordered myself one too...I got her some BARE MINERALS items to go in it, plus I had ordered her a sterling silver bracelet and I'll stick that in there too.
Then I'll tape the box back up and everything can be shipped in the same box! Let me know what you think of the box....
I've got a Christmas party to go to tonight, and I'm being picked up at 7p.m.
Guess I better get ready.http://pages.prodigy.net/indianahawkeye/newpage05/13.gif
See y'all tomorrow
BOB
GatorGal 12-19-2004, 12:04 AM Just got back from a party where the hosts were showing off their new house. It must have been 12000 square feet. One of those homes where you just gawk. My favorite thing there was the fountain of milk chocolate. Yummy! I dipped a few strawberries, but my fav were the tiny cream puffs coated with that wonderful chocolate. Definitely not SB legal, but, oh, sooooo good!
They also had lots of other food, from gigantic boiled shrimp, maybe 8 to a pound size. I loved the rare tenderloin of beef. This was our dinner.
I helped our DD do her Christmas gifts today. She is broke so is giving everyone a pint of homemade apple conserve--thats chunky applesauce with raisins and lemon slices in it, with a touch of cinnamon and nutmeg. I showed her how to make it and then we canned it in my pressure canner. I just bought a new one because my old Presto had a concave bottom which will not work on my flat top stove. I bought a Mirro, which I don't like nearly as well. The worst part is putting the weight on, which has to be screwed on, rather than just dropped on. Very difficult where there is hot steam pouring out of the vent. I guess a man designed it.
Just wanted to check in before going to bed. Night!
CountryMom4Him 12-19-2004, 12:37 AM Howdy ya'll. I've been avoiding the board like the plague. The weight is still up...eating isn't the best and I'm just pouty right now. *smile* Thinking of you all and wishing you the best of holidays.
Love and hugs,
Crystle
Ellen 12-19-2004, 01:52 AM Just got in from a Christmas party hosted by our Jamaican friends. It was a wonderful spread, as usual. I dove right into the Jamaican beef patties, ate them with abandon... I also nibbled on veggies and dip and fresh fruit and a cookie or two. I had two glasses of Jamaican Sorrel...a drink that is a traditional Christmas treat. Our host told an Anancy story ( African/Jamaican folk lore) about the Sorrel drinks origins that was a lot of fun. The stories are told in Jamaican dialect and a lot of fun. I ate three cookies, and had a piece of Jamaican fruit cake....so I was not a good girl tonight.
I just took my sleep aid, so I better get ready for bed! Good night all!
sebray 12-19-2004, 12:34 PM ITS SNOWING HERE!!!! :D well its very light and more like a dusting but hey im not complaining...maybe we'll have a white christmas....i still have to get kevin's present...ive been telling him that i didnt have the money to get him anything and he's gonna have to wait till after xmas for his presents....poor guy  he brought home a present for me last night and was dying to give it to me but i threatened him with bodily harm if he gave it to me before xmas....i told him if i had an empty stocking the kids wouldnt understand y santa didnt fill mommy's stocking and then id have to spoil the lie about santa to them and theyd be traumatized so bad they'd be in therapy until they were 50!!!

tech: wtg hon!!!!!!! :cheer:
GatorGal 12-19-2004, 03:12 PM Well, I forgot to tell y'all about the funniest gift we got our son for Christmas. I was reading an article in the WSJ about "airblowns," which are those large yard decorations that are kept inflated by a fan that blows air into them. They are lighted. Hook them up and you've got a Santa or something, lighted up and colorful, about 8 to 12' tall in your front yard. At the end of the article they described how the airblown Spongebobs used by BK in a recent promotion were often stolen, appearing later on E-bay for sale. The article remarked that people didn't have to steal Spongebob anymore because you could by an airblown of Spongebob sitting on a present and wearing a Santa hat. Bingo! That's the perfect gift for my son and his "family"--live in gf and her kids. He's somewhat weird and likes Spongebob. So I ordered it immediately, and am hoping that it will make it here from CA by Christmas. I wouldn't have it in my front yard, but, hey, ya give 'em what they want, huh? I think we will get our daughter a stove. She needs one that works. I hope we can find one for a good price. We have a coupon from Home Depot, so probably will go there.
So far today, my eating is OK. A little off, but not terrible. I was eating like a monk a week ago, but this week it has been harder to be virtuous. I probably will just "take a vacation," and then hop back on the wagon on the 26th. We are having a New Year's party here on NYE, so that won't be a perfect night, but will try to do as well as I can.
Most all of my shopping is done. I normally get it done over the year and have many gifts by September. I painted a sweatshirt for my nephew this year, and got that done last week. He collects all things gorilla, so I painted a gorilla climbing the Empire State Bldg. since he lives in NYC. It actually turned out pretty cute. My DH said that he'd wear it, so I guess it was OK for a guy, even though it had a bit of gold glitter paint on part of the gorilla.
Jackie--Congrats on your team winning one for the SEC vs. Lew-ville! That was exciting at the end. Wish we had done that in G'ville.
Gotta go. I finally got around to doing the laundry, so have to fold it now.
Ellen 12-19-2004, 03:18 PM Its a cold silver day here. There are snow flurries. Nothing will stick...but its a treat to see it before Christmas. We probably have never had a white Christmas in Georgia.
We just had brunch...I had three poached eggs, three sausage patties, and an apple. Oh, and the obligatory three cups of coffee with half and half. :) Now I feel sick to my stomach! I think its the sausage!
I slept great last night! Not sure if it was the sleep aid, or the sausage biscuit I snarfed down right before bed! When we got home last night, James was in sausage biscuit mode and had made a royal mess of the kitchen. We make them and freeze them for his breakfasts...he made a LOT....:) Anyway, I got about 5 1/2 hours in before I woke up! AND, I finally can sleep in my fav position..3/4 on my tummy, 1/4 on my side! I was excited when I realized that I was in that position, and it was comfy!
Gotta go! Be back later..or tomorrow!
THE BIG ORANGE BABE 12-19-2004, 05:22 PM AFTERNOON ALL YOU BUSTER BUDDIES!!!
I've been cleaning today...My Brother will be here on Wednesday, and as usual, I've put everything off until the last minute! Since I've been down for the count, I've let everything go wayyyyyyyy to much! I NEED A MAID!!!
WHITE CHRISTMAS just came on...I don't care how old it is, I watch it every year...I just love this movie!
Didn't hear from Debbie this weekend...she'll probably call tonight when I get settled in for my nightly TV watching! Michael is due home any day now, and I know she's been trying to ready the household for his arrival!
MONET...was that you who zoomed by my house on that scooter? http://pages.prodigy.net/rogerlori1/emoticons/jostop.gif

GATOR...I've got to say that I would never dream of you buying a SPONGE BOB anything! But that's just my http://pages.prodigy.net/rogerlori1/emoticons/2cents.gif worth!
Glad to hear you've got your shopping done. ME TOO, and I'm so glad!
