Ellen 12-06-2004, 09:13 AM Good Morning! Its Motivational Monday! We are streaking into the holiday season, with all kinds of temptations. What are we going to do about that? Have a plan! You have to wake up in the morning, look yourself in the mirror and say, "I am worth it". And of course, you ARE worth it. Perhaps we can all share something we do that we are good at. Something you are proud of, but maybe not many people know about you.
You CAN do this...you can walk through this week, and be proud of yourself. You can feel good and not guilt. Make a list of why you want to reach your goal and tack it to the fridge and read it every time you reach for something to eat.....
Have a great week my friends!
Fillise 12-06-2004, 09:56 AM Hello all! I hope everyone had a good weekend!
It was a grand weekend in Auburn--despite the disappointment about the BCS. It's so rare to go through the SEC unbeaten--as BOB, Gator, Missy, Jackie, and Monet can attest that we are thrilled here are celebrating! UT played a great game on Saturday. I noticed that USC and OK played mediocre teams (at best), but AU played a very fine # 15 UT who was up to the challenge and gave us H**L! Ya gotta love SEC football.
BOB--What a game! I thought y'all were going to pull it out. WHEW! Time to go bowling now!
Monet--Thanks for starting the board today--is Deb ok? See you Thursday?
I made a pot of split pea soup last night for supper--mmmmm. It's been rainy and cool here and so it was perfect. I had it with a slice of my WW bread--perfect. I have enough left over for three lunches this week. I"m going to try to make a big pot of some type of soup on Sunday nights through the winter so I can have hot lunches during the week. That should keep me on track through the winter months--at least help anyway!
Next Sunday I think I'll make chili!
OK got to go get some breakfast and get to work. Have a great OP day everyone!
Susan
techwife 12-06-2004, 10:31 AM Dieting during the holidays is absolute torture!! But we can do it!!
I'm reporting that my ticker is once again accurate. No change to it, but I'm just really 174 again. :cb: One step at a time...at least it's going in the right direction, right?
One day at a time...let's be good cats and kittens and STICK TO IT :cheer:
Here's to all of us losers!!! ;)
Techwife...
OH, and here's my menu thus far today...I'm trying to cut down on the bread!
BF:
2 eggs scrambled with shredded cheddar cheese on top
1 slice of onion bagel bread
1 kiwi
coffee
Will add lunch, dinner and snacks as I eat them via editing... :p
Ellen 12-06-2004, 11:14 AM FILLISE: Deb has computer troubles again, and asked me to start the board through BOB...who she called! Looks like it may be next Tuesday for the trip to Auburn...stay tuned!
TECH: Way to go on getting your ticker correct! snicker..
sebray 12-06-2004, 11:36 AM i was in such a good mood this morning...y did i have to ruin it?!?!!?!?! why why why why why????? im not a self destructive person!!!!
on the good side we have an appt to get the cats seen at the vet for their shots and fleas/deworming tomorrow morning...im very nervous as this is my first ever visit to the vets office...the cats i had before all had shots and never got sick...lets hope this is my last visit....
now as to all the 'woe-is-me' stuff up top...i went to see my surgen for my followup appt and of course everything is fine..im all healed up and he said he didnt want to see me anymore  but i just HAD to get on their scale.....
my thinking was that i would just see how far off my scale at home is.....somebody smack me silly for even thinking this please :(
so the scale at the doctors office said my scale is 6 pounds off  so instead of 175 im really only 182....but im going to ignor it because i think his scale isnt 'tuned' or something...that has to be the only explination....cause if its true that ive only lost 4 pounds ill just get so depressed and stuff my face with all kinds of sugary sweet things and just end up being a blimp my whole life
somebody please show me the bright side to all this :(
and no im NOT going to change my ticker cause my scale is right and his is wrong!!!
Solly 12-06-2004, 11:44 AM Good morning Ladies
Hope everyone had a great weekend. It is raining here again. But warmer 60-65 today.
Did lots of shopping this weekend. Didn't get finished, but lots accomplished. Everything is wrapped and under the tree. Still don't have anything for my youngest DD> Of course everyting I bought previously went for her birthday today. It's hard to believe my baby is 22. I feel old.
Went ot the eye dr on Sat. My eyes have changed drastically. No wonder I couldn't see. I went from being near-sighted to being far-sighted. I am trying wearing 1 contact to make one eye see close and the other see far. Hoping it works. i just hate glasses. Things are a little blurry right now. They say it takes 2 weeks for your braint o figure it out. It may take mine a little longer.
Eating through the weekend was much better tha usual. I did have some bread at the Italian rest for DD's birthday, but I had not had any starches at all that day. I had a couple bites of DD's pasta dish. Last night we went to Texas Roadhouse. We told the waiter no bread, and I had a grilled prok chop and veggies and a salad. No cake at the wedding either. So I feel like I did pretty good.
Monet, thanks for tarting the board. You have some good ideas. Have a plan and be prepared at all times. We are worth it. We sometimes have to chosse what we want most. That piece of_____ or to be thin.
Sysan, Congrats to the tigers. That was a good game. BSC is a mess. At least we have 2 SEC teams in bowls. I am making a big pot of bean soup tongiht. Beans are soaking as we speak. Just wish I could have some cornbread with it.
Techwife, I'm at the same point at you. 174. Hopefully after 3 wate pills today it will be closer to 170. We have to stay on track throught he holidays. It is tough but we can do it.
Have a great day. Hope to be back later.
Toni48 12-06-2004, 12:02 PM Good morning everyone. Hope everyone had a good week end. We went to Lowe's, which is about 2 1/2 hours away. Did some Christmas shopping and had a nice day. Theres so much to look at when you get out of this little town (population 600). I couldn't help filling the cart up with lots of Christmas goodies. I hate I was to tired to go to our little town parade afterwards. But it was a big day for me. I'm almost done with my Christmas shopping. Just a couple more things to go. Now I need to get started on my cards and maybe get them out this week. Eating hasn't been well and I'm having a bit of a problem with it. But will hang in and hope it will click in my head!
THE BIG ORANGE BABE 12-06-2004, 01:42 PM AFTERNOON EVERY BUDDY!!!
Just brought Kate home from the Pain Mgmt Clinic where she got her injection.
I've got her proped up in the recliner. She still a little woozy from the shot they gave her to relax her. PLEASE....KEEP ALL FINGERS AND TOES CROSSED THAT THIS STARTS TO GIVE HER SOME RELIEF!
Speaking of cooking...I fixed a HUGE pot of VEGGIE SOUP..it was a little cool over the weekend and Sunday proved a good day to cook some up! BEAN SOUP sounds good too as does PEA SOUP...but SUSAN'S idea for CHILLI sounds even better! I haven't made that in such a long time that I would probably have to get out my grandmother's recipe!
I'm watching the GRACE KELLEY storey...Cheryl Ladd is playing the lead and it's been a wonderful movie so far. I started it last night, but as usual, went to sleep! Thank goodness for the WE network and their playbacks! She is going into meet the Prince now...
I rented a really good movie over the weekend....the storey of ROBERT JONES
(Bobby) the golfer...it was absolutely wonderful..don't miss this one!
Debbie called me the other day in such a tither....her computer had crashed and she couldn't figure out the problem. I still think her problem is AOL...
but that's just my opinion.
She called me yesterday to BRAG about her purchases....she is the world's best at finding deals, and where there aren't any, she talks her way into one!
MONET...did you get the link to work from the site I sent to you? I just love to play TEXT TWIST and the bigger version has so many more bells and whistles. Are you feeling better today?
I see that Phantom of the Opera is coming to the big screen..I saw it on stage and it was great...I won't miss this movie...the music alone is worth
going to see it again!
SHOPPING....Not finished yet. I still have to get a few more things to send Cathy's way. They are leaving on the 17th to go to Gregs parents in KY and I want to get the box to Winston Salem before they leave! I better get my arse on the move....I got Jay's things from TOYS R US through Amazon and sent it straight to their house...that saved me two shipping charges.
Before they left Louisville, one of those big electrical storms hit and lightening got Greg's XBOX...he has bought another one and I probably will get him a gift card from BEST BUY so he can get himself something to play on the BOX.
BUT..I still need to get him something else...Gift card are good, but they are personal...
I better get off for now....
I'll check in later

BOB
sebray 12-06-2004, 02:35 PM BOB: where o where do u get all those wonderful pictures from??? :)
heartmom 12-06-2004, 02:53 PM Hey, guys. I started the day off in the right direction. I just got thru with my exercise, did the 4 mile WATP tape. I plan on working out 5 days in a row this week for a total of 7 workouts. This evening I have a Pampered Chef party to attend, but there is NO WAY I will eat a crumb that isn't legal. It's at 6:30, so I'm going to eat supper before I go so that I won't be tempted in the first place. Not doing alot today. Today is my cleaning day, sucks. Got most of it done though because I started early this morning. I'm doing good on my water intake, already took my supplements(vitamin, fish oil caps, calcium 600 with added Vit.D and Zinc). I haven't been taking them like I should. Here's my menu for the day:
Breakfast(8:45)- was 2 eggs, 2 1/2 slices bacon, 1 cup 2% CC milk, 1 bite of Boogie's grilled cheese that was legal,lol.
Morning snack(10:20)- LC yogurt
Lunch(should be around 1:15)- my famous tuna salad with veggies, cheese, 1 egg, Ranch dressing..Diet Dr.Pepper
Snack-?? maybe a spoon of Smucker's PB?
Supper(after 5)- making cheeseburgers and salad. Plan on having 1 fully loaded cheeseburger on legal bun and probably an additional patty, plenty of salad with Ranch dressing..Diet Dr.P.
I'll let you know if I have anything at the party to nibble on. BUT I promise it will be legal and not much if I do.
SEBRAY- Doctor scales suck! :p Do this...put a 10 pound weight or something you know the EXACT weight of on it and if it says the right #, then your scale is fine. Alot of times, the doc scales need to be reset because of all the people who step on it all the time. Plus, take accord if you ate or drank, the time of day you weighed, clothes, compared to when you weigh at home. For example, at home, I weigh just about naked in the morning after I pee and before I drink or eat anything. If I ate and was dressed, then naturally I would weigh several pounds more. If you orginally went my your scale to begin with(starting weight) then you're still down the same amount regardless if you still use the same scale.
Solly 12-06-2004, 04:50 PM Just making a quick check-in. Nothing goin on except bathroom runs. I can tell I didn't take any water pills over the weekend, as I am running avery 10 minutes. I really must be retaining fluids.
No plans for tonight. Having prok chops on the grill. May run to Meiers and get some dishes and household items for a family was adopted for Christmas.
I got the stuff for the kids off the tree at church yesterday. It is hard buying for kids you don't know what they look like or like. they give ages and sizes but that doesn't help too much.
Sebray, if you had any food to eat before the Dr, the food weighed something, plus your clothes. I go by the scale I started losing on and stick to that. Don't let it get you down.
Toni, Gosh, i wish I had my shopping done. I don have my cards ready to go. Just have to get stamps.
Bob, Hope that shot does the trick for Kate. How is your finger today?
Heart, good luck at the party tonight. You can do it I know you can. I just love their stuff.

sebray 12-06-2004, 06:41 PM you guys are the best http://pages.prodigy.net/indianahawkeye/newpage06/3.gif ... i didnt eat anything but had some water and was clothed with the scale....i normally weigh myself first thing in the morning, after i pee, before i eat or drink anything and fully nude....dont want to have any excuse for being fat other then i am  kinda like a real life wake up call for me...keeps me balanced hehe...
BOB: i LOVE the smileys...there are soooooo many...but i think this one is my fav so far hehe http://pages.prodigy.net/indianahawkeye/signs02/6.gif
well off to finish dinner
sebray 12-06-2004, 07:19 PM ok so call me flakey but i just love that snowflake maker...so im gonna share a couple with everyone that i made :D
........
ok so i wont...their too big and i have no clue how to make them smaller
Ellen 12-07-2004, 01:48 AM Its 12:30 and Monet is NOT sleepy...AT all. I think I will blame it on BOB.....
Dinner tonight was a roast cooked in the crockpot, with lentils on the side and brussel sprouts. I can't claim that I have been good though...the candy for the gingerbread houses is still laying around, and shame on me, but I keep snitching bits of it. I just finished a serving of Premium ice cream ...and it was NOT a NSA type.
The cold has been bothering my joints. I think it is also due to the wet. It was very foggy today, and rainy. We brought the Christmas tree in tonight. The cats were very curious. We did not decorate it though. I guess I will have to do that tomorrow. I started stringing popcorn and decided it was too much like work! I bought tinsel garland at the store. I still plan on making snowflakes though. I may get everyone in small group tomorrow night to make one or two to help!
Iam going to try to go to sleep now...I am hoping for five hours....but I think that is a pipe dream. Insomnia sucks...
BOB: I went to that game site...got Text Twist... Then bought Insaniquarium. I LOVE that game and it is SOOOO addicting! I accomplished NOTHING today, and everytime I close my eyes, I see fish and gold coins...
Teensybean 12-07-2004, 01:53 AM Hey all-- Spent the day decorating the house. It isn't done, but it is looking very Christmasie, hehe. Will finish up tomorrow, then head to town on Wednesday for some shopping. Got my lighted deer out in the yard also.
Ds wrecked his truck this weekend, and of course alcohol was involved!! I have begged him not to drink and drive. When I left my Mom's on Saturday the last thing I asked him was to give my Mom his truck keys because he was drinking. He promised he wasn't going anywhere, or that he would ride with his brother. Well.......there is about 7 -8 thousand dollars worth of damage to the truck, and thank the Lord that Bill wasn't hurt. This is going to be a pretty spendy mistake, but if it wises him up it will be worth it. We just helped him get this truck in September. It just makes me sick when I think about it. And he could possibly lose his license for 1 year.
Here is my menu today---
B-- 1 venison hot link, 1/2 c Fiber One with 1/4 c FF milk, 1 tsp cinnamon, 8 drops liquid Splenda.
snack-- apple
L-- PB & J sandwich, Lite 85 yogurt.
snack-- orange
D-- 4 oz grilled sirloin steak, salad with bleu cheese dressing, 1/2 c green beans.
dessert-- 1/2 c SF Jell-o with light whipped cream.
Sweet dreams all......
Fillise 12-07-2004, 08:08 AM It's 5:30 and I have a long day ahead of me. A meeting in one town at 10:00 and then the rest of the day in Montgomery with meetings and a Christmas party this evening.
Eating was good yesterday:
B- 1 "green" bananna, 2 soft boiled eggs, 1 slice WW toast with marg.
s-6 oz SF FF yogurt
L- 1 1/2 cups of split pea soup and 1 slice WW bread w marg.
s-tricsuits with cheddar cheese and pepperoni
d-1 chicken breast with 1/2 large cucumber sliced.
This morning so far,
I've had coffee and 1/2 grpefruit. I'm going to have some oatmeal in a little while. On cool mornings I love oatmeal with agave and cinnamon ( microwave mine in milk to get some protein). I'll take a cup of yogurt with me for a snack, but after that I'll be eating out for lunch, dinner and then the party (there will probably be a chocolate fountain at the party--heaven help me!).
Sebray--A loss is a loss--if you Drs scale is higher it just means you would have started at a higher point, so you've lost what you thought you lost. Go by the scale at home--Mr. Drs scale is actually lower than mine--but I use the numbers on the scale most readily available to me!
Teensy--here's hoping that DH learns his lesson! At least he didn't hurt himself or anyone else. Trucks can be repaired or replaced--people can't.
Monet--did you get some sleep? Stay away from those computer games--they will sap all your mental energy!
BOB--Hope you and Tippy had a good evening in front of the TV. I have taken Belles favorite Christmas Throw out of the closet (it is very soft and she loves it) so she is curling up in my lap every chance she gets.
Jackie--Know that water pill shuffle!!!!! Did you get the stuff for your family? I have a group of friends that gets together to adopt a family every year. Friday night we will get together and pool our money and then shop for the family. We come back and have dinner and wrap all the presents. it really puts me in the festive mood--can't wait! I put my change in a jar all year. Thursday I will take it to the bank to be counted and that's what I use for the family--you'd be amazed how much change you can collect in a year!
Heart--Pampered Chef--LOVE IT! I hope you had fun! Are the kids getting excited about Christmas?
Everyone--Thinking about Boogie has reminded me. . . remember the friends I told you about this summer with the baby girl born with the heart troubles? She is in Boston now and undergoing surgery this morning to fix the problem. Most of the holes in her heart appear to be closing on their own, but she is having the aorta an the pulmonary vein switched this morning so the right blood will be going into the right chambers of the heart.
Toni--Wow--that's a long way just to go to Lowes!
Techwife--Good motivational message!
Have agreat OP day everyone!
Susan
sebray 12-07-2004, 08:57 AM I AM GOING FOR A WALK TODAY...RIGHT NOW!!!!! I SWEAR!!!!
have to take dev to school but when i get back ill let u know if i succeded in convincing myself to go for a walk :o
Ellen 12-07-2004, 09:05 AM Morning! I actually slept about four hours before I woke up. I easily fell back asleep before my crack head husband woke me up.... I slept maybe another 30 minutes, and decided I was not sleepy enough to stay in bed, so I got up and fixed breakfast. I was rather piggy this morning... I had two waffles and a small serving of granola.
Its another gloomy day, and I have to get things organized here in the house for small group tonight. (notice I did NOT use that nasty five letter word that starts with C...this is my mind game to try and convince myself its ok to do that) Dinner tonight will be chicken stir fry, brown rice, and egg drop soup. All legal...now if I can just make it through the rest of the day. Part of the 'organizing' will include the gingerbread house stuff...and the temptation will be overwhelming.
I got bad news yesterday...my insurance has dropped my doctor. If I have to change to someone else, I just don't know what I am going to do. I feel so despondent about that. If he doesn't get it straightened out, I will have to pay full price, and I am not sure I can afford that. I don't know of another doctor in the area that is as progressive in treating thyroid issues as he is....
TEENSY: Oh, I am so sorry about Bill and the truck. I know how those issues lay like lead on your heart. I hope and pray he learns from this... My son will be 26 Thursday, and I am almost ready to pray for whatever it will take to help him get his life in order. Right before he moved in here, he was in a wreck and found out his license had been revoked. I had seen evidence of it a year before and mentioned to him and he never did anything about it. Thankfully, they did not throw him in jail, but in some ways, I wonder if it might have helped him to be more responsible if they HAD.
FILLISE: Have a good day... Enjoy the party. I know you would have RATHER had us come over today! I hope the weather is better next week....
GatorGal 12-07-2004, 10:43 AM Monet--Maybe your doctor will give you a better rate if you pay cash. I've read articles about people w/o insurance negotiating prices with their doctors, and actually getting pretty good prices. Same for hospitals.
Sebray--I agree with Fillise (Susan). Just look at the pounds LOST rather than the actual weight. What you've lost is gonna be the same regardless of the scale. Set your goal for the amount you want to lose and focus on that. Don't let a starting number get you down.
Jackie--Good luck on the monocular vision with one contact lens. I do that and LOVE it! I've worn just one contact for reading for years. It took me about 2 months to get fully used to it, but I was determined, as I hated to wear glasses. Once my brain got it all figured out, it was great. I watched a lot of TV at a mid-range distance during the breaking in time to help my eyes--and brain--get used to the change. If you persevere, it should work.
I've been real busy. We have our Christmas tree sitting up in our family room. No decoration, but at least the tree is UP! We probably will decorate it the end of the week.
Eating has been OK. Staying about 1200 calories, with lots of protein and fiber. I'm trying to do a lot of walking and yesterday I got about 11000 steps.
Today--grocery shopping, other shopping, meeting with the student I mentor, figuring out the final details for our vacation this coming May.
Getting the reservations for vacations can be a bear. Yesterday I was on the phone for 3 hours--yes, that's THREE hours--with a reservation clerk for Delta. It took that long for her to finally find flights where we could use our frequent flier miles. The airlines are happy to sell you tickets so you can earn frequent flier miles, but when you go to use those rewards it is almost impossible to do so. We will be spending about 3.5 weeks in both France and Italy. We will have to fly into Milan and drive to Grasse, France, which is near Nice, where we will be staying in a house we are renting there. About 6 months in advance, and it is nearly impossible to use the rewards miles. Disgusting!
There is a really neat picture making the rounds of an alligator swimming in a bayou in LA, with a whole deer in its jaws. It's really impressive to see the size of that gator and even the deer. It's not a baby deer. Those Gators are really ferocious! Hopefully they will be even more ferocious next fall. LOL :) :) :)
Gotta go. I have lots to do today. I'm down another .5. :cheer:
http://www.TickerFactory.com/ezt/d/3;2;64;0;1/c/169.5/t/120/s/172/k/91c0/weight.png
sebray 12-07-2004, 11:14 AM well i did it..i walked 4 miles today!!!!!
it was a glorious morning today and as soon as i was done walking and got in the car the sky opened up and poured down rain :D
had 3 scrambled eggs this morning and im not sure what ill have the rest of the day as my cupboard is bare until tomorrow :(
have a great day..have to shower and get the cats to the vet
Solly 12-07-2004, 11:31 AM Good Tuesday Morning,
How is everyone today? It has been raining here and now the sun is out and 65. I love it.
We went out and got my adopted family stuff last night. I had the parents so that was easy. I got 20 minutes on the treadmill in. My goal is 6 times this week. I'm afraid to do too much wt lifting incase my arms get sore again. Don't know what caused that, but it is gone and I don't want to trigure it again.
BF; 3 pcs of bacon, oatmeal with splenda
Lunch, egg salad and veggies and dip, clementime
Dinner, bean soup
Monet, Are you worried the cats will get in your tree? I hate that you can't sleep. Are you trying any pills at all? It's so hard to find a good doctor and then for insurance to prevent you from going to them. That sucks. Hope he can get it worked out.
Teensy, sorry to hear about your son's accident. Some lessons are hard learned.
Susan, another busy day for you. At least you are prepared. Yes I got all my family stuff last night. My DH does keeps his money in a jar for Christmas. Used to give it to me to spend on the kids but now I think he spends it on me. He needs to put more away every day  Prayers for the little baby. Sure hope things go ok and this fixes all her problems. Will she be home for Christmas?
Gator, congrats on the .5. Every little bit helps. I am determined to make this contact thing work. I hate wearing glasses. People have commented on how blue my eyes are w/o glasses. I'm wure it will take my brain longer than the 2 weeks to adjust. You amaze me with all the steps youget in a day.
Sebray, congrats on getting out there and gettign that walk in. Now youneed to do it again this week. 4 miles is awesome too!
have a great day
Ellen 12-07-2004, 11:33 AM I 'organized' the kitchen some...and started to 'organize' the gingerbread house stuff, but got some resistance from Laura. She is planning on working on them more this afternoon. Ok...I will leave it for last, but I am not going to hold my breath! She was supposed to get up and leave here at 8:15, but over slept and got up at 10! She was very upset, which makes me wonder if she was missing a final. She hates to tell me anything....she is very stubborn about that. If she had told me she had to be up then, I could have woken her up. BUT, if her father had heard, he would have expected her to be in bed by 12:15 so she could get 8 hours sleep. When I got up at 12:30 and stayed up until 1:30, she was still awake.... Kids! She is 18...I figure I have at least another year, to year and a half before she becomes more human.
Well, I expected it...I have had to squirt the kittens several times this morning...one of them was half way up the Christmas tree, the other two were watching from below. Its going to be a LONG holiday season I am afraid!
SEBRAY: Good for you getting in your walking! Its awful outside today, and Tom has fixed the treadmill so I can't whine about not being able to put it down to use. Guess I better get my butt on it today! :)
GATOR: I'm with you...I got my tree UP, but not decorated. Way to go on the .5 gone! I think I probably found it, as bad as I have been.....
techwife 12-07-2004, 11:44 AM SEBRAY: Whaddya trying to do, pass me on our race to 120 (that's our goal, right?) WOWOW!! 4 miles is a great walk and quite a distance. How long did it take you? I was walking about six miles out to the lighthouse and back before it got cold and my son decided to boycott his rediscovery of the stroller. Now I just get out and walk to pick up my daughter from school and swing by the post office on the way...probably a mile and a half. But if I do it everyday, not only will I get used to the friggen cold sooner (thus being more tolerant of it), it'll add up nicely, I think.
Just a question for those of us with toddlers...anyone ever seen Lazy Town? That Sportacus can come motivate me N E TIME!! :flow1:
Anyhow...yesterday I had my aforementioned breakfast, but didn't eat the kiwi because it was too unripe and bitter.
But for lunch:
Ham Sandwich on WWbread with slices of green pepper and lettuce and swiss cheese and mayo
an apple
Dinner:
1 pork chop broiled with olive oil and mrs dash
steamed broccoli and baby carrots (about 5 - I'm running low on produce!)
half cup of NSA applesause
FF milk
Snack:
Apple
This morning I had the same breakfast, but with a slice of cantaloupe.
AND!!!
I'm down a pound, but I'm not changing my ticker till I get to 170!!:D So, that brings me to 173!! Seven down, 43 to go!! :dancer: I'll officially weigh in tomorrow and see if I can change my ticker!! I'm cutting back on bread...such as one slice of onion bagel toast this mornign with my eggs and fruit and then two slices on my sandwich for lunch and then none at dinner...or maybe just one slice. I think this might be helping a tad. And I'm drinking more water, too.
OMG!! Wild turkeys just blew past my living room window! They are usually out there, but today they were haulin _ _ _!! I wonder what scared them...Thanksgiving's over!!
Well, back to the daily routine!! And, thanks BOB for the new addiction!! I have to make some real ones now for the window with the little one!! :smug:
Talk to everyone later on!!
Techwife... :coffee:
PS...Monet...my dad used to keep the vaccuum cleaner under the tree to keep the cat out!! He was terrified of it and it worked!!

BOB
Ellen 12-07-2004, 02:21 PM Wow! Thanks BOB....I didn't know!
:balloons: Happy Birthday, Country! :balloons:
Ellen 12-07-2004, 02:27 PM Ok, I am a little bummed. I had planned to use the treadmill today, since its yucky out. I suppose I still could, but would it be rude when there is a 19 year old friend of my daughter's sleeping on the couch? I did not know the boy was here, and as I went to take James to work, he pointed him out. He is still sleeping....and the treadmill's motor would be less than three feet from his head, and sure to wake him. Decisions, decisions....
TECH: I love that idea of putting the vacuum under the tree!
JACK: Of course I am afraid the kittens will get in the tree! I have already run them out of it twice! My plan is to decorate it with all non breakables this year. Otherwise, they will be batting expensive glass ornaments out of it...and probably making me want to tear my hair out...and theirs!
BOB: Ok, I have one level left and I will have beaten Insaniquarium. How lame can I be? Something tells me the level is impossible to beat..I have not come even close yet.
I need to go find something to distract myself...when I close my eyes, I see fish....oh, for goodness sakes! Why do I get sucked into these things?
kengjw 12-07-2004, 04:44 PM Hello...
I am back! I had a nice short but sweet trip. Most of all, Jess had a blast with grandpa and grandma. I really hate flying but that won't stop me from travelling to places though...lol. The weather was great, very mild and not humid. I get to wear all my summer clothes which I love. The first day, we stayed at home with grandpa and grandma. The 2nd day, we drove to Miami to visit some friends and had lunch and dinner with them. 3rd day, we took Jess to the beach in "the" Palm Beach and had only planned to stay for 1 hour. We were thinking of just walking on the beach and then go home but of course, I forget that my daughter is super friendly and she always seem to find herself some little friends to hang out with. She saw this little girl and her grandma and immediately went over to introduce herself and then started playing with Michelle (her new friend). Since they were playing so nicely, Michelle grandparents and us decided to get to know each other as well. An hour had passed but the girls were playing so well so we decided to stay another hour. At that time, Jess had completely wet herself...which is fine with us although I didn't bring any towels with me...lol. Jess soon spotted another girl that walked passed with her other and decided to ask this little girl to hang out with her and Michelle. Clarissa was her name. The 3 of them had a blast. Then, Deanna came with her father and wanted to play with the 3 girls. Deanna had been watching them from afar and she wanted to join the fun so the girls welcomed her with open arms. The 4 girls had a blast and then Jess saw a boy walking with her mother and decided to introduce herself to the boy. Poor boy was scared by her agressiveness plus hanging out with the other 3 girls probably scare him too so he didn't join them....lol. We, the adults had such good time watching the kids played together. We had to go when our 2nd hour had passed because we only had enough quarters to last 2 hours plus Michelle had to leave as well. Jess was exhausted from all the fun and fell asleep on the way back to grandpa's house. We spent the rest of the day at grandpa's house, relaxing and chatting. The 4rd day, we came home. So, to summarise this trip, it was perrrrfect as we had just enough time to spend with our family and friends. We really didn't want to stay too long either, it would be really exhausting for everyone so 3 nights were perfect :)
I must confessed that I didn't eat too well. My carbs intake was more than I allowed myself to. FIL and MIL thought I was starving and depriving myself of food. I had to ask them to check with my husband on how much food I eat. They thought I needed to be more fleshy...LOL. I don't know if it has something to do with dh's culture but the women are pretty "fleshy" and I can understand why they think I am not...lol. My MIL was on a mission to blow me up in that few days. She saw how much I could eat so she really couldn't say I am not eating. Anyway, it was quite a challenge to refuse one food after another, especially the cakes, candies, ice-creams etc. I had some but not as much as she wanted me to eat. With the SB knowledge that I have now, I really feel so bad for them for their food choices and portion control. I am more amaze at our bodies especially on how much "abuse" our bodies take from us. When I came home, my body craves for foods that I have neglected to eat during that trip. My craving for fruits was just overwhelming and not to mention lighter and more balance meal. So, today, I made 2 different kinds of fish for lunch (lol), a stir-fry nappa cabbage with brean thread noodles, onions and carrots and brown rice pilaf. It felt great to eat healthy again.
I won't be able to catch up now but will do that tonight. In the meantime, I want to wish "COUNTYMOM" a very HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!!. Hope you have a fantastic time today with your family and friends.
Julia
heartmom 12-07-2004, 06:44 PM I hope Country is enjoying her day!
Well, I feel like the goodyear blimp today! I feel so fat and bloated. Doesn't help that I'm retaining some fluid. My face is really puffy. I've let it effect my mood today. Haven't done nothing but sit around the house today and eat! I did keep it all legal though. I missed my AM workout. Fortunately, I'm the instructor so I HAVE to teach tonight and at least I'll get 1 good one in, just makes me miss my goal for the week. Yesterday...all I had at the party was cheese cubes(too many). They had premium chocolates set out and then they made this "braid" with crescent rolls, chicken, cranberries, celery, walnuts, mayo. It smelled and looked divine but I stayed away. It was hard but I think the only thing that helped me was my friend introducing me to everyone as her aerobics instructor, lol. Couldn't be a piggy after that, lol. I think I will weigh tomorrow although I know it will be mad especially with the fluid retention. For supper tonight, I baked a Honeysuckle turkey breast. Plan on making turkey, mayo, and cheese sandwiches. Tomorrow, I will work on watching my portions and starches. It seems that my second day getting back on track is always the hardest.
Julia- I think most people mean well, although we could do without their intentions, lol. Sometimes while at gatherings I'll say something like I don't need that or whatever and someone will chime in and say after all you've lost, go ahead and indulge. DUH! If I indulged on that principle then I'd be plus sized again in no time.
Pancho- Let me know how she's doing. I was just fixing to send another email to the family. I sent one a couple weeks ago and never heard anything back.
GatorGal 12-07-2004, 09:22 PM Hi everyone,
Here's something I forgot to post earlier. The USAToday newspaper had a very interesting article re. sleep loss and weight loss. The article says that if you are not sleeping well, it is harder to lose weight, according to studies. Here is the URL for the whole article.

Ellen 12-07-2004, 11:08 PM Here is a picture of Gator's waterfall. Sure looks pretty!
heartmom 12-07-2004, 11:17 PM Uh, I lost my whole dadgum post!!!!! Well, I'm not retyping everything. Gator- the waterfall is very pretty.
Solly 12-08-2004, 09:37 AM Good Morning,
ope the scale is good to everyone today. I think I am down 1.5 pounds. I haven't gone back to look at my record I keep.
Got in my 20 minutes of tereadmill and about 15 minutes wt training. Dinner was bean soup and it was pretty good.
Monet, Don't think a year and a half will make your DD normal. Mine is 22 and Sat night theyleft the house at 11:45 p.m. I think she brought the newspaper in when she got home. I sure hope those kittens don't knock that tree down.
Techwife, congrats on the loss. You might try to find Healty Life bread or some other brand. The slices are 1/2 of a regular slice. I think only 35 calories. Sp 2 pieces == 1 starch. I don't like all that bread anyway.
Country, Happy Birthday. Hope it was a great one! :gift: :hat: :balloons:
Ken, glad you had a great trip. Don't worry about your food. That's what vacations are for. Jess sure is a friendly child. You will have to watch her later.
Heart, WTG eating at the party. I knew you could do it.
Gator, heard that story. Gues it figures if you are sleeping you can't be eating. What a beautiful waterfall. I know you are happy it is back.
Got to run to a meeting. Be back later I hope.
heartmom 12-08-2004, 03:10 PM Hey, guys. I got my workout in for the day. Doing better with my eating today. I did weigh-in this AM. I'm up 1.5 #'s from last WIW. So that's a total of 3 above my low(159). Considering how my eating has been, I was actually surprised it wasn't double that. But still, 3 pounds is 3 pounds, and I still have a couple of Christmas dinners to attend coming up. So I need to concentrate on keeping it as legal as I can and not binge-eating on the weekends. Oh yea, Boogie got his cast off this morning. Wasn't that great of an experience. He heard the saw and freaked. This elderly lady was getting her cast taken off so we took Boogie to watch her thinking he will see that it doesn't hurt,etc...well, that grown lady was a wus. She was making all kind of faces like it hurt or something. Let me tell ya that just did wonders for Boogie. We ended up having to hold him down. Anyway, they took an Xray and said it looks good but then they gave him a velcro splint to wear for a week during the day. Then he should be "all well." Last night, Ashley was complaining of a headache and had fever so I kept her home today. Thankfully, it just seems to be a cold. Well, we got word that they are fixing to submit the paperwork for funding on our house to see if the funds are available for the loan. Please keep your fingers crossed that they are! I'm ready to get the ball rolling! Well, I need to get off this computer and eat my lunch, my stomach is really growling.
BF- was small granny smith apple and LC yogurt
Lunch- I made turkey salad(egg, mayo, turkey, apple, relish, onion). Probably make a sandwich and eat the rest with celery.
Snack-?? spoon of PB
Supper- making Poppy Seed Chicken(and rice for the rest of family), green beans, and lemon pepper and butter cauliflower.
techwife 12-09-2004, 09:14 AM Okay, so I decided to put on a new ticker. It's still okay for us to use them, right? I know, I read some things about how they were bogging things down, but then I thought I read somewhere where the bogging seemed to go away as well.
Anyhow...down to 173!! Yay!! I still have yet to get passed my 170 barrier, but I'll forge ahead just the same eating the yummy food I'm allowed on this diet!! Really...it is a very satisfying plan...I love eating poached eggs on toast for breakfast with oranges and ham and swiss on ww for lunch or tuna on ww. And forcing myself to eat an apple for a snack. One key I'm noticing is that when I have that hunger pang in mid afternoon, I'm thinking this is not a good thing because the body tends to go into anti-starvation mode and store fat...am I right? So, it's better to eat an apple and stave off the hungry feeling.
Well, off to get the young one off to school!! Bye everyone!!
Techwife
Fillise 12-09-2004, 10:14 AM We look to be in for some nasty weather today. It's way too warm for December--79 on Tues and 75 yesterday--and now the colder air is coming. At least it will feel more like Christmas!
An update on my friend's baby--She got through the surgery on Tuesday and the DRs feel it was a success. It was more complicated than they had planned on because there was more wrong than they thought, but as of Tuesday afternoon they were optimistic. I haven't heard anything else.
An update on the chocolate fountain at Tuesday's party--it was gorgeous and I admired how pretty it was but I DIDN'T EAT A THING! I met a friend and we had a big dinner (spinach salad and steak) and I was too full to eat anything. Not that that usually stops me, but it did this time. Yipee!
I have a Christmas dinner with friends tomorrow night, 2 weddings on Saturday, and another party (with the Chocolate fountain) on Sunday night. The weekend is going to be a freakin obstacle course!
Tech--as far as I know the tickers are ok--I'm sure they will slow things down if you have a dial-p connection. Of course these pages were always very slow for me when I was using dial-up. I haven't noticed any difference on my broadband.
Heart--I can sympathize with Boogie! When I was eight I broke my arm and the day they came towards me with that saw I was terrified!!! Poor thing, I don't blame him one little bit. You give him a hug from Aunt Susu!
Jackie--WTG on the 1.5 lbs!!!!! Anyone who loses this time of the year is a champ! How's the shoulder?
Gator--You're waterfall looks gorgeous! I know it has to feel better getting things back into some sort of order again. It's different, but it's beautiful!
Monet--Still on for Tuesday? Have fun with the kitties and the tree! I don't put anything breakable on mine because of you-know-who. Peir One had some gorgeous shiney springs of stuff that would make a tree really pretty, but could not be hurt by kitties. It was also pretty inexpensive too--I think.
Julia--It sounds like you had a great trip! Your DD sounds like she is really outgoing! Glad to have you back.
Crystle-Happy Belated Birthday!!! I hope it was a good one and this is a year filled with joy and a year in which you see the magc number!!!!! You know what I mean!
Sebray, Teensy--Hey!
Happy Hannaukah Deb!
Have a grat OP day everyone!
Susan
Ellen 12-09-2004, 10:37 AM Morning! We will not discuss how lousy I slept. I am in a bit of a foul mood because of that. The weather is gray and nasty. Today is James birthday and he has requested Dim Sum for lunch...Tom is even going to meet us at the place at lunchtime! Supposedly Ruth is coming in too, but I won't hold my breath.
Breakfast was two ww waffles, with real maple syrup, which is NOT legal.
I just wanted to check in. I will be back later....
THE BIG ORANGE BABE 12-09-2004, 01:32 PM MORNING EVERY BUDDY!!
I see our HOLIDAY DROP OFF HAS STARTED!!! For all you NEWBIES...this is totally normal for us...it really started later this year than usual!
BOB IS SO EXCITED!!!!! WHOLE FOOD OPENED YESTERDAY!!! Haven't been down there yet, it's a zoo and I'll wait...it's not going anywhere....
GATOR....it's probably 2 1/2 times bigger than yours....I can't wait....
I've got to go to BEST BUY, but I'm waiting for the lunch traffic to be over...THEN, I've got to get back home, wrap what I'm sending to Cathy's family and get it to the UPS store...
After my therapy yesterday, I went out to the outlet mall and made the mistake of stopping at the sheet store....80% off of RALPH LAUREN SHEETS!!! I got 3 sets plus two sets of pillow cases for $59!!!!! I bought the bright colors....RED...YELLOW, and BLUE...I can interchange and have the brightest bed on the block! I'm going back and get more....at this price....you CAN'T BEAT IT!!!!
SUSAN....I see by the weather map that your weather is headed our way and by the weekend, it will be in the 50's here!
MONET...http://pages.prodigy.net/bestsmileys1/emoticons3/BALLOONS.GIF

heartmom 12-09-2004, 03:27 PM The board is definetly slowing down. Where is Pancho? Today is rather warm and so have been the past few days, but cooler weather is on its way. I got my AM workout in and have to teach exercise this evening at church. I weigh a pound more today than yesterday but TOM showed up this morning. Tomorrow will probably be another pound or 2, but I know it's all TOM related because I was "good" yesterday and will be today. I really don't have much to say. Kinda uneventful, rainy, dreary day...
BF- was 2 eggs and 2 slices bacon with a cup of CC 2% milk
Lunch- will be my famous tuna salad made with veggies, tuna, cheese, onions, egg, and Ranch dressing
Snack- Dunno, I'm out of PB and fruit!
Supper- making taco salad(the rest of the family eats this with Doritos)...seasoned hamburger meat, lettuce, refried beans, cheese, salsa, sour cream
Pancho 12-09-2004, 03:51 PM Hi everyone:
The last time I was on the board was Friday, and I typed up a long post and replied to everyone and lost it....so, if anyone asked me anything specific, I am sorry.
I just caught up on posts, but don't have time for replies today. You will probably not see much of me for awhile. I have a lot of stuff going on right now. Britt has her school concert tonight, I want to workout at some point tomorrow, and then we have my Dh's work party. I am going to the gym Sat. a.m., and then to Wal-Mart to pay off my Christmas layaway and take Lane's bike over to my mom's house to store until Christmas Eve. Britt gets out of school next Friday, and then we will be baking, and delivering our goodie baskets to friends, doctors, hairdresser, etc... When Britt is out of school, she has an appt. w/ homeopathic doctor to be retested (she is doing awesome, by the way), and an appt. with an orthopedic doctor to make some orthos for her shoes. I also have an appt. w/ an endodontist for a "problem" tooth, and may need to see a periodontist (long story....went to a non-reputable dentist over 5 years ago that messed up my tooth...told me I had a cavity, but didn't, and filled it and bonded it together with another tooth - ended up having a root canal I never needed....I have had nothing but problems since then). Lane is deciding she doesn't want to sleep anymore. She woke up at 3 a.m. and said she wasn't sleepy anymore; I didn't get her back to sleep until almost 5 a.m., and then she had to get up by 7 a.m. She has been down for a nap for the past 45 minutes but won't go to sleep.....aye yie yie. She doesn't seem to be sick, and she hasn't said that anything is bothering her.
Please know that I am eating good, and intend to continue doing so. I am getting to the gym at least 3 days a week, but my goal is 4...and I usually hit my goal. My weight has been fluctuating from 120-121.5#'s.
I also came to a bit of a revelation the other day....my computer time is taking away from my time with the kids and my daily chores (housework, etc..). When Britt was a baby, we didn't have internet connection, and I spent a lot of quality time with her. I don't feel like I spend enough time w/ Lane. I seem to put her "needs" off when I am in the middle of a post, etc...so I need to get my priorities straight, and only post when I feel like I can without jeopardizing my time w/ the girls and when it is not keeping me away from chores. Like now, I have a dishwasher that needs to be unloaded and reloaded and laundry to do before Britt's concert tonight.
Know that you are all in my thoughts, and I will read posts when I can, and I will post when I can.
You have all been so wonderful and supportive and I feel so close to so many of you. Know that I am not deserting you, but I'm just not going to be so "regular" with my posts.
Thanks!!
God Bless & Happy Holidays!
Nat
kengjw 12-09-2004, 04:23 PM Hi everyone...
Sorry I didn't manage to do any replies yet but I have read all the posts. I have lots of chores to do at home, not very exciting I know...lol. At last I get my car washed yesterday and today, I planned to organize the mess :( I still have to create some filing for dh's business and have yet to do so. His papers are all over the place and they drives me nuts!
I spent the whole morning doing Christmas shopping for Jess and dh today. I set a budget for Jess and tried to fit in as many items as I can...lol but didn't spend close to her budget which I am glad. I might get her some books and a tape at a discount store next week. I bought dh a coffee maker and Jess couldn't wait to tell him what we bought for him...lol. So the secret is out but at least he doesn't know which coffee maker I bought him...lol. Little girl sure cannot keep any secrets...lol. I am so glad my Christmas shopping is done. Th rest of other gifts to dh's niece and nephews will be "cash" (we send them checks) so that is easy. Now, I just need to send those Christmas cards off :)
Here's my menu for today :
Breakfast : 1 ww waffle, 1 fried egg and 2 sausages. Water.
Lunch : Baked basa fish, saute green beans and onions and linguini with veges and herbs.
Snack : Fruit salad.
Dinner : :Leftover green beans, linguini and will probably add a protein like chicken.
PANCHO : I understand what you meant. I had that revelation a while back and cut back a lot on my online times. Jess really loves it and so do I. Somehow, I have forgotten about that lately and definitely need to get my priority straight as well. I will mostly do replies at nightime after Jess is asleep. Thanks for reminding me of what I need to do.
I will catch up with the rest of you tonight. Good day everyone!!
Julia
Solly 12-09-2004, 04:24 PM Good afternoon ladies,
I thought I would never get on here today. I wasn't in the office much yesterday and today is catch up.
Went to the plastic surgeon yesterday and got my tattoos. They actually help make the nipples look more real. I'm pleased except I can't get in the hot tub for 2 weeks.
Since I got home early, I got in 1 1/2 miles on the treadmill. I had been wanting to increase it so that was my chance. Also got my wt training in too. 3 days so far this week. Hope to get my TM in tonight before we have dinner with friends. I will have to get up and do it in the morning since we go out from work on Fridays.
Please say a prayer for my DD, they have a potential buyer for their house. It will mean that they will move in with us until they find one but that is ok. I just want them to move in closer.
Techwife, yes it's o to eat an apple for snack. Much better than junk. Yeah for your 173 That is great. Just keep going.
Susan, WTG on passing up the chocolate fountain. You've got some hard times ahead, but you can do it. Shoulder is fine. Go figure. Glad to hear the baby is doing good. Hope she continues to improve.
Monet, I'm so sorry you slept poorly. Hope you day has improved.
Bob, that is a great deal on sheets. Grab them up. Did the therapy help your finger any? WF has ww pie crusts and Amy's ww pizza.
Heart, don't let TOM sabbatoge you. Hang in there.
Nat, we understand everyone is busy, especially this time of year. Pop in when you can even just to say hello.
Got to run, have a great day!
heartmom 12-09-2004, 05:30 PM It's me again...killing time. PANCHO- we understand it's that time of the year when alot of people are busy, it'll slow down a bit and get more into routine later on. What bike did you get your DD? We got Boogie a Spiderman bike and scooter stashed in the shed. Ashley "used" to be into Barbie everything. Now it's Bratz.
JULIA- I wished I like fish, I see that you eat it often. The only seafood I will eat is tuna and it has to have Ranch or mayo on it. So now I'm taking the fish oil capsules.
Jack-k- Oh, TOM won't sabatoge me. I get my cravings the week before TOM(I had a binge last week). Right now, I feel in total control. Just hate the fluid weight that tags along with it.
Well, I don't have anything to report. Going to surf the web for a bit before I prepare supper. I always cook before I exercise at the church, but don't eat until about 7:30 when I get back home.
sebray 12-09-2004, 05:44 PM soooo sorry i havent been on in a couple days been really busy :dizzy:
got 2 hours of sleep tuesday night and then i was on the run all day weds until i got home finally and passed out on the bed at 2am :(
the cats are both fine..no fatal ilnesses and they got treated for the fleas and worms...now if we could just get rid of the danged fleas in the house :(
went grocery shopping yesterday and kicked myself afterwards for not doing it at walmart... i could have saved at least $50 going to walmart :(
dev went and saw his therapist yesterday and the doc told me that he should be calling me soon to give dev an appointment for the psychiatrist to put him back on meds...i tell ya i cant wait to have my calm and focused luv bug back :) devon is anxious to get back on meds too....he's going through a really rough patch and is having a hard time focusing and controling everything without the meds ... i feel so bad for him and wish i could do something for him....
then i went to class and gave my final speech about mandatory psychological testing for people before becoming parents...got an A :D but class went an hour over because we still had students that needed to give their speeches and no one wanted to come back next week
then i had to go to walmart to finish my grocery shopping but they didnt have any ww tortillas :( so i had to hit another store on the way home...i think i got home at around 1:30 am

i know im missing replys to everyone but im so far behind in my 'organizing' because of my day yesterday and i really need to get my bum in gear...
techwife 12-09-2004, 05:47 PM Okay, guys...I'm sort of psyched...and bummed at the same time...
Heart: After reading your two posts I realized who TOM was  . TOM stopped in here today, too...which is why I'm psyched and bummed at the same time...
First...since I had my son, I've always hoped for a number three kid...but as he gets older and further away from babydom, I'm getting less and less sad that my hubby said two is enough. BUT, I was late...or at least forgot the date TOM stopped by last time...and thought I was late anyway and at first panicked, then started to pick names and got excited...then TOM came to visit and now I'm sad and happy at the same time. Anyhow...I'm psyched because I actually lost a pound yesterday the DAY BEFORE TOM!! Usually I gain a pound or two, so that's really saying something...maybe once TOM goes back to wherever TOM is when TOM's not here, I'll finally hit 170!! :crossed: We can hope, right?
Well, that's it...off to make some Tilapia for dinner. I do love fish...the family gets chicken, though...Gawd forbid they get some Omega 3 in them!!

Im a very picky eater and the foods i do like are obviously not SB legal. HELP!!!
I really need words of encouragement and support. My goal is to weigh 145 lbs. I now weigh 297. I do not want to reach 300. I know if I do not do something soon I will be in alot of trouble health wise.
Well Ladies i guess i am rambling a bit. Please Help. Thank you in advance for any replys.

CountryMom4Him 12-09-2004, 07:47 PM Life has been busy and good. My 40th birthday was wonderful. My daughter and her boyfriend took Robert and I out to eat. I ate and drank what I wanted. *smile* The scales were up before and are still up. Really close to 160 but it's all good. Lack of exercise is more of a problem than eating has been.
Welcome Cethlinn!
Gotta run and take care of my little one but I wanted to let ya'll know you are loved.
Love,
Crystle
Ellen 12-09-2004, 07:52 PM Well, Dim Sum was wonderful...its been over a year since we went. They push carts of little steamers and plates around with the stuff in them, and you pick what looks good. Then they mark your check with the number of plates you get. We were a bit worried about the check amount, but it was $70, with we did not think was too bad for 5 adults, and a carryout box for a sixth, and all of us full. Erik could not come as he had to work, so Ruth carried stuff home for him. We got all the varied little dumplings, and stuff...and probably none of it was legal! This afternoon, James went to the movies with Ruth, and Laura went to work. Tom even met us at the restaurant, so it was a very nice lunch. Tonight, James and Laura go to trivia...so I will probably skip dinner. I am definitely NOT hungry! :)
CETHLIN: Welcome! I am guessing Daramus is your hubby. Tell him hello from us! What foods do you like? Maybe we can help you with suitable substitutes. If you love sugar stuff, and feel like you can't get away from it, just know that its an addiction. If you can tough it out for a few days, the desire to eat it goes away. It really is amazing! If I start eating sweet things again, it takes me forever to get over it again....and I am right in the middle of a sugar binge. And you are so right to get it all under control now. Later is NOT an option. I took my time trying to get my weight problems under control and now they are compounded with insulin resistance, and age...especially perimenopause. Tell us what you need, and we will do whatever we can to help.
heartmom 12-09-2004, 10:13 PM Tis I again! Got on the computer to do some research on Pagan holidays and such, killing time until ER comes on. I ate a bit too much at supper. Man, I was sooo hungry after my workout this evening. Anyway, CETHLINN- I know how ya feel. I used to weigh 278 and now weigh close to 160. It takes time, dedication, support, lots of effort, BUT...you CAN do this. I used to be a total carb junkie and didn't even know it. That was just the way I knew to eat. Read the SB book, it made perfect sense. When I first started it was a process, having to read ingredients and labels and having to wait the sugar cravings out. But it's been well worth it. I stumble at times and fall off course but the key to my success is that I know I have to get back on track and I always manage to do so. I honestly believe that SB is more directed towards the way God intends for us to eat anyway. Whole foods, meat and dairies, fruits and veggies with unrefined starches. As your body gets accustomed to the healthier foods you are feeding it, you will notice that your cravings for the once-loved foods will lessen. Give it 1 week and you will notice that your cravings aren't as strong and that your appetite has decreased, plus you'll enjoy these healthier foods even more. The first 3 days are the hardest. Expect to feel lethargic, have a headache, and really want some bad carbs. Stick to your guns and those symptoms(sugar withdrawals) will pass. Best of luck.
Cethlinn 12-10-2004, 03:40 AM Well Thank you for the welcome everyone:) Yes Daramus is my hubby*S* how did you figure it out? I guess because not many guys come here. He told me at one time he was the only guy on here. I will tell him Hello for you.
Ok ladies im not really into "sweets" i am a pasta junkie. I could eat it every night. And I do love my soda. I dont really like meat but i will eat it occasionaly and the veggies i like are a no no on SB.
But i do love salad.
So do you think im past help?

Seven reasons not to mess with a child:
>
A little girl was talking to her teacher about whales. The teacher said it
was physically impossible for a whale to swallow
a human because even though it was a very large mammal its throat was very
small.
The little girl stated that Jonah was swallowed by a whale.
Irritated, the teacher reiterated that a whale could not swallow a human; it
was physically impossible.
The little girl said, "When I get to heaven I will ask Jonah".
The teacher asked, " What if Jonah went to hell?"
The little girl replied, "Then you ask him".
-----------------
A Kindergarten teacher was observing her classroom of children while they
were drawing. She would occasionally walk around to see each child's work.
As she got to one little girl who was working diligently, she asked what the
drawing was.
The girl replied, "I'm drawing God."
The teacher paused and said, "But no one knows what God looks like."
Without missing a beat, or looking up from her drawing, the girl replied,
"They will in a minute."
---------------
A Sunday school teacher was discussing the Ten Commandments with her five
and six year olds After explaining the commandment to "honor" thy Father and
thy Mother, she asked, "Is there a commandment that teaches us how to treat
our brothers and sisters?"
Without missing a beat one little boy (the oldest of a family) answered,
"Thou shall not kill."
----------------------
One day a little girl was sitting and watching her mother do the dishes at
the kitchen sink. She suddenly noticed that her mother had several strands
of white hair sticking out in contrast on her brunette head.
She looked at her mother and inquisitively asked, "Why are some of your
hairs white, Mom?"
Her mother replied, "Well, every time that you do something wrong and make
me cry or unhappy, one of my hairs turns white."
The little girl thought about this revelation for a while and then said,
"Momma, how come ALL of grandma's hairs are white?"
------------------------
The children had all been photographed, and the teacher was trying to
persuade them each to buy a copy of the group picture.
"Just think how nice it will be to look at it when you are all grown up and
say, 'There's Jennifer, she's a lawyer,' or 'That's Michael, He's a doctor.'
A small voice at the back of the room rang out,"And there's the teacher,
She's dead. "
-----------------------------
A teacher was giving a lesson on the circulation of the blood. Trying to
make the matter clearer, she said, "Now, class, if I stood on my head, the
blood, as you know, would run into it, and I would turn red in the face."
"Yes," the class said.
"Then why is it that while I am standing upright in the ordinary position
the blood doesn't run into my feet?"
A little fellow shouted, "Cause your feet ain't empty."
-------------------------------
The children were lined up in the cafeteria of a Catholic elementary school
for lunch. At the head of the table was a large pile of apples.
The nun made a note, and posted on the apple tray: "Take only ONE. God is
watching."
Moving further along the lunch line, at the other end of the table was a
large pile of chocolate chip cookies. A child had written a note,
"Take all you want God is watching the apples.
techwife 12-10-2004, 09:12 AM WELCOME CETHLIN!! Like I always say, the walk of a thousand miles starts with the first steps! As for your favorite foods...you have to take it one day at a time and find food to replace it with. My favorite is everything potatoes....BUT, I never realized how 'stuffed' and 'lethargic' I felt after a meal with potatoes and how 'refreshed' and 'replenished' I feel after a meal without. My substitute is sweet potatoes...I mash then with a little butter and they taste more like squash, but at least it's a mashed lump on my plate that, if I squint my eyes and dim the lights, it resembles mashed potatoes!! Actually, they are very good and you have to remember, if something isn't exactly exciting to eat, remember, eating it is going to get you closer to your goal weight. One thing to remember...have you ever been 145 lbs? How long did it take you to get to close to 300? Well, race yourself and see if you can get back to 145 quicker! Really, I bet within a year you'll see yourself darn close or at least half way!! If you poke around our threads, you'll see so many of us have lost over a hundred pounds!! WOW!! That's inspiration enough to keep me going!! I've lost 7 pounds, going on 8 in a month...the way I see it, it sure beats adding 7 in the same amount of time!!
And, go figure...my first loose item is my wedding rings!! Seriously, I haven't been able to pry them off my finger since I first put them on years ago without loads of soap and a really sore finger....well, the other day, they came off pretty much effortlessly!! Good sign the I'm shrinking...but I really didn't see my fingers as a problem area on my figure!!! Like, wow, I can hardly wait to loose some bulk off my big toe!! Oh, well, I'll take it, nonetheless...
Good luck to you, cethlin!! You can do it and we're here for you, Chicka!!

techwife 12-10-2004, 09:19 AM TICKER CHANGE!! WOO HOO!! That 170 plateau is TOAST in just a few pounds!! Catch me if you can, Sebray!! :tread:

Ellen 12-10-2004, 09:31 AM Good Morning! Its going to be another difficult day for me. I have a luncheon appointment to discuss some children's curriculum with the director of children's ministry at my church, and then the church leadership Christmas party tonight. I am really tired this morning too...
AND...here it is the tenth of December and I have not even bought the first thing for Christmas! That is enough to depress me and send me back to bed!
I have a cup of hot tea....no coffee this morning. I was going to go eat breakfast, but going back to bed sounds more attractive!
Just wanted to check in, will be back in a bit.
techwife 12-10-2004, 10:34 AM MONET: Fear not, m'dear! I'm usually a last minute Christmas shopper, too. Think of it this way, you save money this way because when you shop early, I tend to buy more things for each person saying things like "Oh, I should get this, too." "This is a great item for so-and-so, but I already got them the other...oh, I'll get them this, too." Seriously, the year my son was born, on December 28th, we were spending all our money on cribs and changing tables and things for the baby and ran so short. I couldn't buy anything for Christmas until the very last paycheck before Christmas...and I have things to ship to family out of town, too! So, I got a shopping cart at the mall, waddled around massively pregnant and filled it from store to store until I couldn't see over it anymore, less than a week before C-day!! I wrapped and shipped like I never had before and then on Christmas Day, my daughter started crying because everything was from Santa and "Mom, why didn't you get me anything for Christmas? Don't you love me anymore?" I was seconds from breaking the sad news to my six year old about the truth behind Santa. Someday I'll be able to straiten it all out. This year, at ten, she still wants to believe (although logic is telling her otherwise), so maybe next year I'll tell her "Remember that year when I didn't get you anything?!?!?!"
Anyhow, Monet, fear not...it's never too late to get started on that shopping...and if you're too tired to get out and do it, plop yourself down at the puter and float through ebay for a while and write out a list of what you want to get everyone on your list! At least you'll feel like your in the right direction...
kengjw 12-10-2004, 11:18 AM Good morning...
It is a beautiful sunny day here. I ended up spending last night wrapping the Christmas presents and put them under the tree. I will try to catch up today :)
Menu for today :
Breakfast : Ham and cheese sandwich. Water.
Snack : Fruit salad.
Lunch : Roasted cornish game hens, roasted veggies and baked sweet potatoes.
Snack : Fruit salad.
Dinner : Same as lunch. Whenever I roast my hens, I always roast enough for dinner for dd and me :)
REPLIES :
HEART : Yes, I agree with you that in-laws meant well with their comments but I also realize that they were not going to "believe" what I told them either. I really didn't bother to explains except telling them I am pre-diabetic and need to watch the "sugary" stuff. That seems to work well :) I am glad Boogie's cast was out. That must be so scary for him. I would be too.
TECHWIFE : WTG on the weightloss!! Woo Hoo!! Yes, snacks are great, they tie you over to the next meal, instead of starving by the time you get there which is not good. You are doing great!
FILLISE : The weather here has been pretty warm the last few days as well. The rain is finally gone today and our temp will start to go down. Now, it feels more like Christmas:) I am so glad your friend's baby is doing well. Positive news are always a celebration. Looks like you will be busy with the party and such...have fun!
Okay, that's for now because dh is home so I better get my butt off the chair...lol. Will continue later!
Julia
GATOR : I love your waterfall, I bet the sound of water flowing down is very soothing. My neighbor has a fountain and I just love listening to the sound of the water.
JACK-K : 1.5 lbs gone! WTG on your exercise too!! You are fantastic!
Solly 12-10-2004, 11:50 AM TGIF
Glad this week is almost over. WE didn't get to go out with frineds for dinner last night. So DH & I went to a store looking for 4 things for my DD and they only had 1. I was so bummed. The restaurant we were going to was too crowded so we went to Chik-Fila. That was alright with me. I got the grilled chicken on wheat bun and a salad. I was pleased I could stay leagal.
Also happy to report that I have gotten my TreadMill in 5 days this week. Will definately shoot for 1 more. The scale has been good this week too. Since Monday I'm down 6 pounds and 3 since WIW. I am below the 170 and sure hope I can never see it again. Got to keep that in my mind this weekend.
We have going to a Christmas party tomorrow night. Theya re having veggie tray, meatballs and chicken tenders. We will eat before we go. I don't plan to drink much either. Hope to get more shopping done too.
Sebray, glad your cats were ok. Congrats on that A and most of all passing up the cookies and do-nuts.
Tech, hope you lose lots when TOM is gone. I'm with Sebray, don't have to worry about that any more. Kinda nice.
Cethlinn, Welcome. This is a great place for support. It's a little slow right now tough. You just have to set your mind to what you really want and then stick to it. It is really hard to start this time of year, but you can do it and be proud that youmade it through the hardest times. Exercise really helps, even if it is only walking. Good luck and come here as much as possible. You will have to try the ww pastas. I also buy 100% duram semolina and it is great. You will be surprised at the veggies you will learn to like. I wasn't a bid veggie eater either, other than corn and potatoes. Now I eat all kinds of them. Better than eating northing I guess. You might try rewarding yourself with little things as you loose. Like for every 10 pounds. I did and it really helped. I remember your DH. Tell him hi.
Country, glad you had a great birthday. You should eat anythign you want on your 40th. It only happens once.
Monet, glad you had a nice lunch with your family. $70 is not bad for 6 people. Hope you get out of your funk. Better get started on that shopping, It will be here before you know it.
Have a great day. Will try to check back later.
kengjw 12-10-2004, 02:00 PM I sent dd to her room for 30 mins (don't think she will nap today) so I can get a break. My lunch is in the oven roasting away. I just love cooking everything in the oven, don't need to break out the pan :) More replies :
BOB : Whole foods new you, how exciting!! Glad you get some good bargain on the sheets. I really need new sheets but dh said not to get any until we buy our bedroom furniture which will not be for another year.
PANCHO : Jess is due for a bicycle with training wheels soon but I decided to put if off until her birthday comes on April next year plus she has one of those "four wheel" truck waiting for her in the basement. Yes, I have to hide it in the basement...lol. Dh's friend gave it to us as he wanted to get it out of his garage since her kids outgrown the truck. Now, we would need to go get a new battery. I am sure Lane will be so thrilled with her new bike.
HEART : I really love fish or seafood in general. The basa fish I eat is very mild and flaky which I just love. Fish oil is great too. I used to eat those when I was young, I remember hating it so much...lol. Now, I know I will tolerate it much better :) If you want to try eating fish, just start with something really mild like tilapia which you can easily find everywhere. Basa is really good..my fav!
SEBRAY : Wow, you have been running yourself down. Hope you get a good rest by now.Glad your cats are fine and hope you are able to get rid of the fleas in the house. Hey, grapes for lunch is not enough, make sure you have something else to snack on when you are on the road. WTG on resisting the donuts and other junks at school. You are doing fantastic!
TECHWIFE : LOL...it took me a while to figure out what/who Tom was. I was wondering how come everyone knows Tom...lol. I love fish too. I must eat it at least 2 times a week or else I crave for it. Coingrats on your weightloss, you are doing fantastic!! You and Sebray crack me up on your challenge!! lol. Keep it up ladies!
CETHINN : Welcome to the board!! We are so glad to have you here. SB is so flexible so I am sure you will find lots of foods you love to eat plus more learn to love new foods as well. Please ask any questions you have. You can do it, yes you can!!
Oops, got to go again. My breaktime is over. I got to check on the roast hens in the oven.
Julia
kengjw 12-10-2004, 04:28 PM Okay, here I am again trying to catch up with my replies :
COUNTRY : Glad you had a wonderful time on your birthday. I am sure the scale will be down soon.
MONET : I recently had Dim Sum at a chinese buffet in Fl but it wasn't the same. I haven't been to a Dim Sum restaurant for over a year. I sure missed it. $70 sounds good to me. Which Dim Sum restaurant did you go to?
CETHINN : I am a carb addict, pasta and rice was my biggest weakness but I am telling you, today I am eating the portion that I am supposed to and I am very happy. I never thought that is possible. I used to be able to eat 3 bowls of white rice at one sitting to fill me up. Now, just 1/2 cup with lots of other yummy dishes. Rice and pasta used to be the main dish while veggies and meats were the side dish but now rice is the side dish and I am eating a bigger portion on veggies and protein. Do you like to cook? If you do, experiment with foods and different seasonings and sauce. What I do with my 1/2 cup pasta is, I sauteed it lots of veggies and protein. It is really satisfying and filling too. I have had so much yummy foods since started SB. I have tried many new recipes and love it. You just have to make your meals yummy so you don't feel like you are "dieting" which you are not on SB. Oh...you will be just fine. There is always hope, always a way as long as you want to find it. Take baby steps...you can do it!
MONET: It is not too late...you have plenty of time. Take a look online to see if you can find what you want to buy without costing you an arm or leg. There are lots of great deals out there. Ultimately, you know it is not the gifts that counts, so don't stress over it. I am not buying for many people so it is really easy. Dh and I refused to buy for many people because then it becomes very stressful trying to figure out what everyone wants, then burn a big hole in the pocket, stress etc. All adults get cards except my dh's niece and nephews. I refused to stress over their presents either plus I probably won't buy them what they want. We are starting to give them cash (checks) this year. Last few years were Toysrus gift card but some of them are getting older. I love gifts card and I wish people will give me gift cards instead of presents. You can get them at stores or restaurant that they like. It is easy for you and everyone is happy :)
JACK-k : You are doing a fantastic job exercising. I need to think of you everytime I don't want to exercise. You are such inspiration!
I believe I am all caught up with the posts...woo hoo!! lol. Okay, I will disappear until tonight. Have a good day everyone!

Ellen 12-10-2004, 06:49 PM Lunch went well. Tonight, the Christmas party is at an Italian restaurant...I hear there is going to be dancing. Not my cup of tea! I married a man with two left feet.... At lunch I got things that were probably not very legal...I could have gotten teriyaki chicken instead...so what is wrong with me??? I got tempura shrimp and tonkatsu instead. (tonkatsu is pork tenderloin breaded with panku bread crumbs and fried...) At least the salad and miso soup were ok.
Tonight, we will probably be dealing with all kinds of pastas...I hope there is a good salad bar,and maybe I can concentrate on that. I feel full from lunch still. Wish I had time to walk on the treadmill before we have to leave, but it looks like a shower is all I am going to get in, because I HAVE to lay down and rest a bit or I will never make it!
I am still not going to finish up replies...but I will make a few. I will get to everyone eventually! Please forgive me if I am late! :(
TECH: You and I are very alike in the shopping! I find when I start early, I do exactly what you described, and spend twice as much! I need to send family presents to my sisters, which shouldn't be difficult, I just have not done it! I usually send them Georgia pecans.....and have them shipped from the Stone Mountain pecan company.
JACK: Way to go with the treadmill! Kick me in the butt some on that...maybe you can encourage me to use mine five or six times a week! Congrats on getting down again...you are such an inspiration! Have a great weekend!
KENG: Where did that glorious weather go? It sure clouded up fast! I wish I could curtail the amount of presents I have to get, but our family is large! I am getting a lot of gift cards this year, due to the surgery. No one better complain....

Fillise 12-11-2004, 11:28 AM I'm the first one here this morning?????
This weekend is THE Christmas party weekend for me. I went to one last night. I have TWO weddings today (plus a candidate forum), I have a party tonight that I think I will be too wiped out to attend (Weddings and forums are EACH in a different city). Tomorrow night at the Governor's mansion. I'm tired just thinking about it!
I've got a snuggly and purring kitten in my lap right now and I'd just as soon stay here with her today!!!!!!!!
BOB--I WASN'T going to do it, but I did. . . I ordered the BE Today's Special Value--on auto delivery!!!!! I wanted the brushes and was going to order some eye shadows to put in my DM's stocking--so I got it all in one fell swoop. Dark Chocolate is supposed to be very good for your heart. I got some 62% hot chocolate mix in NYC and am hoping it will do the trick.
Monet--Are we still on for Tuesday?
OK--got to go and get ready and get on the road. Need I say more than reception food all day long??????
Pray for me :dizzy:

THE BIG ORANGE BABE 12-11-2004, 02:01 PM AFTERNOON EVERY BUDDY!!
Slow getting started today....was up watching TV until 3a.m.!!!! :?: Slept until 10a.m. when Tippy couldn't hold it any longer!
I have all my shopping done except my Brother....I did get him the "fart" pillow, but that's a gag gift...he loves Bass leather flip flops and wears them winter and summer! I know he wants so flannel shirts, and I'll look at those later...He always does so much for Kate and I, and I feel bad when I don't get him something he wants! He's not a greedy person and appreciates anything and everything that he gets, but he's flying down, and won't have a lot of room to take back....of course, we can always ship anything home!
Did y'all look at the ROCKY COW that I got for Ethan? It's so cute and I can't wait to see him on it! If you've not looked, go up to my last post to the link.
This site www.babystyle.com is wonderful...so many things for the little tykes!
SUSAN.... The GAME is on Monday night at 8pm on CSS....KEEP YOUR HANDS IN YOUR POCKETS TODAY..... Hit the crudet table and be happy!
NOW FOR SOME UPDATES ON THE MOVIES
If you saw the BOURNE IDENDITY....you've GOT to see BOURNE SUPREMACY!!

heartmom 12-11-2004, 06:43 PM Quick check in- I've been eating wayyyy toooo much crap today. All legal items but whoa...I have pigged out on the nuts and let's don't even go there with the SF chocolate. I'm already feeling the gassy effects of the SF chocolate. Will I ever learn? Aahhhh...Anyway, I guess the bright side is that it wasn't a binge on illegal foods. I did good yesterday though. Even went to Cici's and had the crustless pizza and a big salad. I weighed 160 this AM. Not going near the scale for a day or 2 because of all the junk I've inhaled today. Baby steps....It's a bit chilly here and cloudy today. Perfect for chili. Like I need anything else, lol. Well, I was just driving by. Had to be honest about my "legal" binge. Still a binge, but guess it could have been even worse. I pray for the day that I won't ever binge again. Guess I should have left the Russell Stover's at Hudson's. They were only 8 or 9 cents a piece! I bought 40 bars!! No telling how many I've eaten. I think I might just throw the rest away. I hate doing that with food though. ??? I'll let you know what I did about the rest tomorrow.
BOB- I checked out the cow, very cute.
We watched Spiderman 2 earlier. It was suppossed to be Boogie's gift. The little turd knew from the get-go what it was. Very smart. So I was bored and I let him open it and we watched it. This kid loves EVERYTHING that is Spiderman. He thinks he is Spiderman. Always make-believing he's shooting his web and climbing the wall.
sebray 12-11-2004, 08:17 PM just a quick post ... i got an email from a friend for holiday eating tips...thought they would be healthy eating tips...BOY was i wrong  but its still a funny read...
i do not endorse the following tips!!!!!
> HOLIDAY EATING TIPS
>
> 1. Avoid carrot sticks. Anyone who puts carrots on a holiday
> buffet table knows nothing of the Christmas spirit. In fact, if you
> see carrots, leave immediately. Go next door, where they're serving
> rum balls.
>
> 2. Drink as much eggnog as you can. And quickly. Like fine
> single-malt scotch, it's rare. In fact, it's even rarer than
> single-malt scotch. You can't find it any other time of year but
> now. So drink up! Who cares that it has 10,000 calories in every
> sip? It's not as if you're going to turn into an eggnog-alcoholic
> or something. It's a treat. Enjoy it. Have one for me. Have two.
> It's later than you think. It's Christmas!
>
> 3. If something comes with gravy, use it. That's the whole point
> of gravy. Gravy does not stand alone. Pour it on. Make a volcano
> out of your mashed potatoes. Fill it with gravy. Eat the volcano.
> Repeat.
>
> 4. As for mashed potatoes, always ask if they're made with skim
> milk or whole milk. If it's skim, pass. Why bother? It's like
> buying a sports car with an automatic transmission.
>
> 5. Do not have a snack before going to a party in an effort to
> control your eating. The whole point of going to a Christmas party
> is to eat other people's food for free. Lots of it. Hello?
>
> 6. Under no circumstances should you exercise between now and New
> Year's. You can do that in January when you have nothing else to
> do. This is the time for long naps, which you'll need after circling
> the buffet table while carrying a 10-pound plate of food and that
> vat of eggnog.
>
> 7. If you come across something really good at a buffet table, like
> frosted Christmas cookies in the shape and size of Santa, position
> yourself near them and don't budge. Have as many as you can before
> becoming the center of attention. They're like a beautiful pair of
> shoes. If you leave them behind, you're never going to see them
> again.
>
> 8. Same for pies. Apple. Pumpkin. Mincemeat. Have a slice of
> each. Or, if you don't like mincemeat, have two apples and one
> pumpkin. Always have three. When else do you get to have more than
> one dessert? Labor Day?
>
> 9. Did someone mention fruitcake? Granted, it's loaded with the
> mandatory celebratory calories, but avoid it at all cost. I mean,
> have some standards.
>
> 10. One final tip: If you don't feel terrible when you leave the
> party or get up from the table, you haven't been paying attention.
> Reread tips; start over, but hurry, January is just around the
corner.
>
> Remember this motto to live by:
>
> "Life should NOT be a journey to the grave with the intention of
> arriving safely in an attractive and well preserved body, but rather
> to skid in sideways, chocolate in one hand, martini in the other,
> body thoroughly used up, totally worn out and screaming, "WOO HOO
> what a ride!"
>
> Have a great holiday season
Ellen 12-11-2004, 08:53 PM Whew! We are home finally! I have not been on since yesterday afternoon, so let me blog here about what has been happening!
The Christmas party last night was great! The food was wonderful, and while it was not totally legal, I concentrated on antipasto, so I did not do too bad. I only had a small bit of baked ziti. The garlic rolls and tiramisu were the worst part...but SO worth it. They had dancing. Of course I was not going to dance. That kind of movement is not something you want to do this soon after a hysterectomy. I was standing watching when one of the young couples we are close to danced up on either side of me and literally pushed me onto the dance floor! They told me to just bob my head...but I was laughing so hard, and moving a bit in time to the music, that I did more than bob my head. I also carried around one of the staff members baby for half the evening... Needless to say, by the time I got home, I was beginning to hurt pretty badly. Then, the tiramisu must have had real coffee in it, cause I slept very poorly!
This morning, I ran to Harry's and got flour and pie crusts for Fillise...and then to Costco for flowers. I made the bouquet for a young woman from church who was getting married this afternoon. It was the most untraditional wedding I have ever been to. It was a potluck reception! The food was fabulous, and we had a blast! Unfortunately, I did eat some stuff that was not legal...but I tried to concentrate on veggies. I carried a friends 3 month old baby girl around most of the reception, and when I got home, boy was I hurting again! Oh, and I drank half a beer.... It sure was good!
So, I am home and exhausted. Tomorrow, I hope I have the energy to round up the troops and decorate the Christmas tree. I think that is a pipe dream though....
FILLISE: Yes, we are still on for Tuesday! We are looking forward to it! I got you three packages of the ww pie crusts, and three bags of the flour....and I will pick up a few packages of the ww waffles before we leave. I have a cooler I can carry them in to help keep them all frozen. We will leave here some time between nine and ten...depending on when Tom can get here. Hope you enjoyed all weddings and parties!
BOB: Been to Whole Foods yet? When I got Susan ww pie shells I got a package for me to try. If it makes it easy, I am going to love them! Tom loves pie, but its so much of a hassle to make crust....
SEBRAY: Love the holiday eating suggestions. Especially the ones on eggnog! My kids go nuts as soon as it hits the stores. They about weep when it disappears right after Jan. 1....
Ellen 12-12-2004, 12:04 PM Well, the board sure is slow! I guess everyone is out partying and shopping! Not me! I tried to sleep late, but couldn't. :( I did not sleep very well. This is getting really old. This morning, I feel tired and have a bit of a sore throat. I thought I should have eggs for breakfast, but just could not bring myself to make them. Weird! I ate eggs every morning for probably five years, and now suddenly, all that appeals to me in the morning is the ww waffles! I have three dozen eggs in the fridge, so I guess I will make quiche for dinner....;)
No one to reply to except myself....and I am not ready to start talking to me yet.

heartmom 12-12-2004, 06:40 PM Man, where is everyone? Just a check in. Haven't felt worth a crap today. Stomach is really feeling bad from all the crap I put in it yesterday. Hubby is also on my craplist so today has just sucked. Anyway, I'm legal today. Not the best of eating though. BF was a LC shake. Lunch was meat and meat. My Mom cooked barbecued(Carb Well sauce)turkey drumettes and beef rib meat. I ate a piece of the rib meat(big piece) and probably about 10 of those drumettes. Just not enough meat on those things, lol. I ate too many mixed nuts for my afternoon snack. Gotta quit buying those! Don't know what supper will be yet. I don't feel like cooking. Well, that's it for now!
