I also like Nature's Own Stone Ground Whole Wheat Bread with no sugar added. In NC you can get hamburger buns in this recipe--but not here in Alabama

Everyone is talking about SPLENDA and about AGAVE, so I went to my local Whole Foods store yesterday and investigated.

Since they don't carry artificial sweeteners at all (!), they do have substitutes that are natural.

I will copy what it says on the back of the baggy

STEVIA - 100% natural (Herb and vegetable extracts)
NO - saccharin
nutrasweet
aspartame
refined sugar
maltodextrin
fructose
artificial sweeteners of any kind
Ingredients: Fiber, Stevia Leaf Extract

Where do you find sugar-free yogurt?.........I checked out the plain kind and it has 17 grams of sugar in it..........thanks!

The sugar in plain yogurt is lactose, which is fine and legal. Just make sure the yogurt has no added sugar (or high fructose corn syrup) in the ingredient list.

I am just wondering. I have been looking at recipes here and at other sites and I keep seeing Agave used in place of honey. What is this and where do I find it? I have looked at some of my local grocery stores but maybe I'm just not looking in the right section of the store. Help would be greatly appreciated!:?: :?:

Agave can be found in the honey section in a lot of health food stores. I order it online because in the long run it's cheaper.

Yes, dried fruits are ok, but in moderation. Its easy to eat too many dried fruits! Raisins are NOT legal, by the way.

Hmmm, responding to a year-old question, but wanted to add that dried banana or pineapple (which is delicious but very high glycemic) would NOT be legal. Actually, though legal, other kinds of dried fruit aren't a really good idea, IMO, as the concentrated sugar increases the glycemic load of the fruit, so I avoid them. :)

I am trying to really stay on this diet.. Does anyone still crave sugar, and what are you doing for the craving? I have been eating apples with Peanut Butter, but is this legal on the 1st, 2nd week of the SB Diet?

MSK...just a check...are you on South Beach or Sugar Busters? Reason being is that Sugar Busters doesn't have 'phases' like South Beach. And, yes...apples and peanut butter are great snacks on Sugar Busters. Also a great snack on Sugar Busters is Triscuits and Cheese.

MSK, I do very well with just having milk or fruit to quell sweet cravings, also I grind single servings of almond butter at my local health food store sometimes as a sweet snack ... it's high in cals, but I have about two tablespoons and some skim milk and that really is a treat!

Seconding Kris, there are no phases on Sugar Busters ... that said, South Beach Diet's phase II is very close to Sugar Busters and that may be where the confusion arises.
