Debelli 11-22-2004, 12:10 AM GOOD MONDAY MORNING EVERYONE!
Once again, I was side tracked and didn't get on the board as I thought I would. I'm not making any more promises to get on at any specific time - I can only do what I can when I can - I have so much to do today but will do my darndest to at least get on and give a heartfelt hello. Until then, here's the
MOTIVATIONAL MONDAY thoughts for you all to start the week with - I think both of them are fantastic! :)

RELATE TO THE GOAL
Before you consider the difficulties, consider the rewards you'll enjoy after getting past those difficulties. Before looking at the effort you must put forth, look at what you have an opportunity to accomplish.
Yes, there are obstacles that stand in front of you. And the most effective way to get through them is with a meaningful, compelling reason.
Look, in your imagination, to the other side of the mountain. For it is the strength of your vision that will carry you over that mountain.
When your heart is in the effort, you'll find a way to prevail against whatever may block your path. When your heart is in the effort, you'll be fully and effectively engaged every step of the way.
See, hear, feel and taste the end of the journey before you even begin. The more vividly you visualize and relate to the goal, the more energy you'll have to get there.
Difficult as it may be, there is a path from here to there. Connect solidly with your purpose for going, and you'll surely complete the journey.
-- Ralph Marston
*******************
EXPAND ON IT
Take what works for you and expand on it. Build on the small successes and you'll soon be enjoying big successes.
A small accomplishment many not seem like much. Its value, however, goes far beyond the accomplishment itself.
For even a small accomplishment teaches you how to create positive value. And that's a skill that can be expanded almost without limit.
A small accomplishment demonstrates without a doubt that you can do it, and puts momentum on your side. Take the opportunity to build on that momentum, and it soon becomes a powerful, compelling force.
Whatever your situation is, whatever you may be doing, there's something about it that has positive value, something about it that works. Take that positive value and build on it.
Where others may see nothing but problems, take the one, tiny positive aspect and expand on it. That's how real and lasting success is built.

Have a wonderful day, and a fabulous week!!!!!

Solly 11-22-2004, 09:41 AM Good Morning Ladies,
I can't believe I'm the first one here. Hope everyone had a great weekend. Eating was good. We had people over Sat night to watch ballgames and I was so proud. I had pork rinds with my salsa, cheese with no crackers. Skipped all the chips and sweets.
Yesterday, we put up our Christmas lights outside and I got the tree up (not decorated) and some other decorations out. So it was a produtive weekend.
Went to the rheumatologist this morning. She really doesn't think it's the arthritis as much as from the treatments. That figures. She said it will just take time. Ugh!
On a good note, I called in the radio station this morning and won a new Allison Kraus CD. First time I have ever gotten through and won anything. Why couldn't if have been money!! Never happy.
Hope everyone has a great day. I'm off to eat some breakfast.
Be back later.
sebray 11-22-2004, 10:00 AM good morning ... congrats Jackk :D i love alison krauss...wtg on forgoing the chips and sweets :cheer:
well i sent kevin off to school with dev this morning thinking it was dev's field trip...lol i get home and kevin walks in the door, freaked me out i thought something had happened to dev...turns out the field trip isnt till NEXT monday....lack of sugar is messing with my faculties
just a quick flyby cause i have to run to the healthfood store and do a couple errands this morning...not sure what to have for breakfast but it will have to be quick...
hope everyone has a great day :)
Ellen 11-22-2004, 10:17 AM Monet slept rather late this morning! You notice I did not say last night? I could not fall asleep and got up and played on the computer for over an hour, while Tom snored behind me. Finally, I felt sufficiently sleepy to crawl in bed. I then woke up every hour until four. From four until eight, I slept ok, and finally got up at 8:30. Unfortunately, I have a sore throat, and a stuffy nose. I am sucking on a Coldeeze right now. I hope it helps. I hate having a cold!
I was hoping to see a post from FILLISE...just so I know she got home. I guess I will call her again.
I can't get over how foggy it is here today. I keep thinking about my neighbor/friend. She is having a hysterectomy this morning. I am hoping I can get out to the hospital to see her tomorrow. I have not driven that far yet, so I am not sure about it. I can't get Tom to take me since we have small group tomorrow night, so if I go, I have to go alone. Too bad she couldn't have picked a hospital closer to home! :)
I guess I will go find another cup of coffee, and try and get James up again. Later!
Pancho 11-22-2004, 11:09 AM Good Morning, and Happy Thanksgiving Week!! I cannot believe it is already the week of Thanksgiving.
I am starting off the week right. I weighed this morning, and was 119.5#'s, and got up at 4 a.m. to get to the gym. I plan to go to the gym on Wednesday morning, and then on Friday and Saturday as well. My goal is 4 times a week.
I have to go to the dentist this morning. I have a tooth that is throbbing and my gums are swollen, and they bleed when I floss around this one tooth; I guess I could have some type of infection in there.
I went to Target yesterday; it was cold and rainy and I was in the Holiday shopping spirit. I got a kid's folding table for $12.99, with two matching chairs for $12.99, so the full set for $26. It seems very durable. We will need it on Thanksgiving, but the kids can use it year round for tea parties, and such. I also bought my husband a coffee pot that brews one cup of coffee at a time, which will also be good for tea. They had a smokin' deal that if you bought the 6-pack of Juan Valdez coffee pods for $29, you would get the coffee pot for free ($60 value). I hope he likes it.
Ken: We don't live in a neighborhood, so have never used a teenager to sit for us. We get our sitters through a service called Parent's Time Out. We usually pay anywhere from $9-11/hour. But, these sitters come highly qualified and have had thorough backgroudn checks performed on them, etc...I have friends who have used babysitters that are younger, and they seem to pay them $4-6/hour for multiple children. You planning a hot date with hubby?
Tech: I'm sure things will be different this time. If you keep doing as well as you have been, you will fly right by that 170 mark.
Monet: Glad you got to see Fillise for a little while; too bad she couldn't stay longer. I hope she got home o.k. I hope you get a better night's sleep today.
Bride: Glad hubby will be home soon. Hope you get some much needed rest when he returns. Good sleep is so valuable to your immune system this time of year. The cards sound cute.
BOB: Ouch!! I hope you get some relief for your back soon. I can't really say that I am 'unlucky', but I am the biggest clutz you will ever meet in this lifetime. I am constantly hurting myself.
Jack-K: You s/b so proud of yourself for doing so well on Saturday.
I better go get ready to head to the dentist. It is pouring rain here today...but we can always use the rain.
Take care,
Nat
Fillise 11-22-2004, 11:10 AM Monet--I got home ok! I sent you an email a little while ago. I meant to call last night, but fell asleep when I got home.
Morning all!
It was a GREAT weekend in Auburn! BOB was right, I was not in a good mood when she called, but then she got to work and everything was all right with the world!
Yesterday I went to Atlanta to get my old car out of the airport parking lot--BIG MISTAKE--I should have just taken the tags off and left it there. It was barely running by the time I got to Monet's, so they took me to a garage that was open and they got it fixed enough to get me back to Auburn--will cost major $$$$$ to fix compleately (and wasn't cheap just to get it fixed enough to get me home). So now I'm thinking I'm just going to junk it.
It WAS great to see Monet and Tom. She's looking good and moving around well. It's always great to visit with her--she's so welcoming and fun. I hope she can come down in the next couple of weeks to look at some artwork in my church.
Sebray--Lack of sugar usually make us think MORE clearly--LOL! I can synpathize. I hope you have a great day too!
Jackie--WTG on Saturday night's scoail activities! I like Alison Krauss too! I guess you are going to have to be patient on getting over the treatments--that's the worst part! As my niece once said about an activity--"You have to be patient and I HATE IT!" I guess know know firsthand what they say about the treatment being harder to recover from than the disease. I'm thinking about you.
Deb--Hey!
I hope everyone has a good week. I'll get on as I can. Miss Belle and I leave tomorrow to spend THanksgiving in NC. I will ahve internet access there, but won't get on regularly.
Susan
Fillise 11-22-2004, 11:12 AM Nat--We were posting at the same time! Sounds like you are doing great on the weight loss! Hope you make the 4 times for the gym too!
Susan
Ellen 11-22-2004, 11:30 AM  Yay! Fillise made it home ok! (I was worried, Susan! Did you get my message? How long did it take you to get home? I am SO glad for your sake that place was open, though for mine, I wish you had been stuck here for the night! )
techwife 11-22-2004, 12:02 PM WAHOOO!!
Hey!! Check out my new ticker...AGAIN!! 170 here I come!! And lets keep our fingers crossed I plow right through it this time!!
Techwife
Solly 11-22-2004, 01:25 PM Monet, Can I get your biscuit recipe?
Anyone have a sweet potatoe caserole recipe?
Be back after lunch.
Ellen 11-22-2004, 03:35 PM JACK: Sure thing! Here it is.
WW Biscuits
2 cups ww flour (I think pastry flour works best, but I used Wheat Montana gold..)
1 T. baking powder
2 t. baking soda
1/2 t. cream of tartar
1 t. salt
1/3 cup shortening (I used smart balance with no trans fats)
3/4 cup buttermilk
Mix the dry, cut in the shortening. Add milk and stir to form a ball. Knead lightly a few times, pat out on a floured board and cut with a floured biscuit cutter. Bake at 450 degrees just until lightly browned. You can brush with melted butter before baking if desired. Serve hot.
Makes about a dozen 2 inch biscuits.
Ellen 11-22-2004, 03:41 PM JACK: Here is a sweet potato casserole recipe. Its supposed to be light. It just needed the brown sugar changed to agave. Its not my recipe..which I can't find, but very similar.
Sweet Potato Casserole
6 Sweet potatoes
1/2 c Butter
1 5.3-oz. can evaporated milk
1 Tab. orange zest
1/4 c Sherry
1/3 cup agave
2 Egg whites
1/2 c Pecans chopped fine
3 tb Melted butter
Cook potatoes in as little boiling water as possible until tender. (You can microwave them too, if you prefer)
While still hot, peel.
Place in large mixing bowl and mash well.
Beat with electric mixer at medium speed and gradually add butter, milk, orange zest, sherry and agave.
Beat egg whites until stiff and gently fold into potato mixture.
Pour into buttered casserole.
Sprinkle top with chopped pecans that have been mixed with melted butter.
Bake at 350 degrees for 30 minutes.
Ellen 11-22-2004, 03:43 PM You know what I would really like? A recipe for JELLIED cranberry sauce that doesn't use sugar.... Am I dreaming?
Solly 11-22-2004, 04:37 PM Just checking in after lunch.
Bf was 1/2 english muffin and 3 pieces of bacon
Lunch was 1/2 ww bun, bbq, slaw and a giant pickle. Water
Dinner will be rib-eyes and veggies.
I have no fruit or veggies in the house. Need to go to the store tonight. Found some WW pie crusts at Whole Foods so I am heading out there after work to pick them up. will probably make a pumpkin and chocolate pie.
Monet, sorry you had such a restless night. Hope you got a nap in today. Thanks for the recipes. I'm not a cranberry sauce eater, but can't you just make it like normal and substitue agave or splenda?
Nat, sounds like you got some bargains. That is such a good feeling. Congrats on the weigh-in.
Susan, How terrible to have to put money into a car you are getting rid of. Glad you had a nice visit with Monet thougth.
Techwife, keep on track and you won't even stop at the 170 #.
Sebrey, you can blame your forgetting the field trip on the sugar. Gotta have something to blame it on. I still use the "chemo brain" excuse.
Solly 11-22-2004, 04:39 PM Monet, when you said you used Smart Balance, isn't that butter? You used that in lieu of the shortening?
kengjw 11-22-2004, 04:44 PM Hello everyone,
I am back....I hope :) It has been an interesting week since the cold hits. I am 80% better but my appetize hasn't come back yet. I know I have lose some weight but not sure since I haven't weigh for few days. I sure missed everyone. Today, my meals have been so-so, just not balance or enough to me. Breakfast was 2 ww pancakes, scrambled eggs and water. No snack. Lunch was just some white bean soup. I am starting to get hungry so I will eat some snacks after I post here.
Yesterday was the first day I drove by myself and I was so excited. I drove dd to church and then to the grocery store. I knew dh was worried as he asked me if we would be okay and I said "yes" and when we were at the store, he said "drive safe"...lol. It feels great to be independent. I just have to make sure dh get the tires changed on HIS truck so he can start to drive his to work. Right now, he drives my van to work because of that.
JACK-K : I hope you find comfort soon. Having to wait it out doesn't sound too good. {{hugs}}} Well, congrats on winning the CD. I have never won anything so far but mostly my fault because I don't even attempt to try...lol. WTG on resisting the chips and stuff.
SEBRAY : I have positive effects from lack of sugar, at least I don't feel like I need a nap all the time :) I am sure your thoughts and memories will improved immensely as time goes...lol.
MONET : Hope you sleep better tonight. I was up a lot last night because of coughing and plegm on my throat. It was very foggy here this morning until around noon. I hope we get some sunshine soon. According to the weatherman, we will have a sunny Thanksgiving, sure hope so. Thanks for your feedback on babysitters, I ended up paying my babysitter (who is also a friend) $5.00 per hour. It was worth it.
PANCHO : Dh and I went to dinner we joined at church. They are 4 couples and we take turn to host dinner at each other's house. I found out on Sat that the dinner is only for couples and no children. I ended up asking my neighbor's guest (exchange student from Germany) to babysit for me yesterday. I paid her $5.00 per hour. She did a fine job :) The dinner actually went later than we expected and I felt so bad but thank goodness she doesn't have to go to school this week. I will have to plan a hot date one of these days....lol.
FILLISE : Glad you made it home safe. Too bad I can't meet you this time. Hope next time I can meet you and Monet somewhere. That would be fun :)
TECHWIFE : Woo Hoo!! You are doing wonderfully!! Keep making those awesome decision!
Time for snack. Will check back later.
Julia
Ellen 11-22-2004, 05:41 PM JACK: I have not played with the cranberry sauce, but its the sugar that makes it solidify. It may work ok with fructose, or agave, but I feel sure the splenda won't work. I may have to try it though. The smart balance comes in a can like Crisco shortening, and is the same consistency. It is made without trans fats though. I think I got mine at Wal Mart.
JULIA: For sure the next time Fillise comes to town, we will all have to get together. Glad you are going on solo trips...its fun to be free, isn't it?
heartmom 11-22-2004, 06:07 PM Today has been a very "blah" day for me. Just haven't had the energy to do much of anything. I didn't even exercise. I'm blaming it on yesterday's eating which was bad. Doing okay today although I think I've eaten too much already and still haven't made supper. I'm going to make a Mexican style meatloaf, green beans, and baked sweet potatoes. I haven't had a sweet potato in ages. I plan on being more productive tomorrow and doing better with my exercise and eating. Well, I was just checking in...
Teensybean 11-23-2004, 01:51 AM Hey all-- Just a quickie to get in some replies. I will be very busy the next couple of days so probably won't post, but I do try to read all the posts at night before I go to bed.
Haven't been doing much.....a bit of cleaning out in the shop and my fruit room. There is so much stuff that I want to keep in there where it won't freeze, so I had to clean it all out. I definitely need more shelves. Our kitty sure likes it when we work out there. Dh starts a fire in the stove and her bed is right next to it. She just lays there all nice and toasty.
Eating was the pits today. I just get so discouraged.....seems like no matter what I do the scale stays the same. Wish I could think of something good to do that would shake things up a bit. After I go off plan, I feel miserable for the next week.......
Jack-k -- Sounds like you got a lot done this weekend. I was thinking about getting my outside lights up too, before it starts getting really cold out. I hate trying to finagle them when my hands are so cold that I can't get anything working right. Sorry that time is what it is going to take for your pain to go away. Hoping for a speedy recovery. Congrats on the CD. I love Allison Kraus's voice.
Sebray-- Too funny..... hope Kevin wasn't too upset. I thought I was the only one that pulled stuff like that!! The other day I was driving and Dh asked me to stop at Miller's One Stop so he could pick up his magazines. We had about two blocks to go when he asked me........I ended up driving right by it. Forgot about it that quick!!
Monet-- Here's hoping that you won't catch that cold. I am glad that you had a nice visit with Fillise.
Nat-- Sorry about your tooth....there is nothing worse than going to the dentist. Sometimes I think just the thought is enough to bring up my bloodpressure. I had some really crappy dentist when I was young. I would tell them that I wasn't numb yet, but that didn't seem to matter to them. Ugh!! Looks like you got some great bargains. I have to start my shopping soon.
Fillise-- Glad you had a great visit with Monet and Tom. Sorry to hear about the car......
Tech-- Congrats.....you are doing great!!
Keng-- Glad that you are feeling better. My poor dh has been battling a cold since Oct. He still has the cough. Congrats on getting your license. I knew you could do it!! Freedom at last!!
Heart-- Hope you get over the Blahs.....Thank you for the suggestions.....I have been doing PP again, so I am not eating any starches or fruit until Thanksgiving. But then I blew it today!! I get so frustrated working so hard to stay OP and exercising, then the scales don't move so I think what the heck, then I am sorry afterwards of course.
Well ladies......if I don't get back on here, please have a wonderful Thanksgiving!!
CountryMom4Him 11-23-2004, 03:03 AM Today was a pretty busy day. We came over to visit mama since she wasn't feeling too well. I got a great walk in on the treadmill. And eating wasn't half bad.
Julia..awesome on going out solo. I keep forgetting to tell you my story about the first time I went to get my drivers license. The officer there was such a stinker. They told us in drivers ed that if we parallel park poorly without hitting the cone they would deduct points but not fail us. Well, this fella had it out for me from the get go. I parked very poorly for sure...LOL And he made me do it again. I hit the cone and he said,"Go home and practive little girl." Boy was I crushed. The next time I went to a DPS office where I knew you didn't have to park and passed with a 97. :)
Techwife..woo hoo! You will be at and below 170 before you know it.
Jack-k...((hugzz)) hope all the yuckies pass soon.
((Heart)) hope tomorrow finds you feeling much more energized and not so blah.
Poncho...WTG You have done an excellent job of keeping your weight off and keeping the exercise up.
Susan...glad to know you made it home safe.
Monet...I'd love the recipe also if you ever find it. I read the cranberry sauce can the other day and was shocked at how hight the sugar was for such a small portion.
Deb...thank you for starting our board this week.
Colleen...hang in there. You know I know how you feel. I've been around 154-156 for three years next month. And there were many months I was walking like a mad woman and watching every bite. You look GREAT! But I'm praying you can lose a little more if it will make you feel better.
Well, ya'll it's after 1 so I guess I'm gonna go watch a little t.v. till I conk out.
Love and hugs,
Crystle
Fillise 11-23-2004, 09:48 AM Ugh--weather is nasty here today. I had to delay my trip a day to deal with my cars--the sick one needs to go to the mechanic and the new one needs its tags. . .
That's ok, since all my clients think I'm gone, I have free day to get some stuff for me done. I still have lots to do to get the house ready for Christmas decorating after I get back.
Crystle--Sounds like you had the same parking problems I did! Hope you have a good holiday.
Teensy--I think Miss Belle would like to come hang out by the fire with your kitty--sounds cozy! She's not happy about the long ride tomorrow and the lfea treatment she got last night. I hope to be forgiven soon. . .
Heart--Hope you have a better day!
Keng--Glad to hear you are feeling better! And glad to hear about your new independence! I'd love to get together with you the next time I head up to Atlanta!
Monet--I don't know of a jellied cranberry sauce regipe that is legal. A few years ago I did a cranberry-apricot sauce that would work well with agave, but it's not jellied. Isn't there a sugar free sure-jell? Couldn't you do something with that?
Jackie--Thanks for the sympathy on the car! I don't have any fruit or veggies in my house either--I tried to clear everything out before I left and now I'm here an extra day with NOTHING to eat!
Techwife--these tickers are fun aren't they?
Have a great OP day everyone! I'll try to get on again before I head out tomorrow.
Susan

Ellen 11-23-2004, 10:08 AM Morning everyone!
I slept ok last night. I know you all think I am nuts reporting that...but its one of my biggest problems right now! So when I sleep ok, I am kind of excited!
I have not had my coffee yet... Today, I am somewhat back to normal. Tom drove his truck and left me my car, and I will drive James to work, so I have a car. Going out solo is almost scary! I want to drive to the hospital to visit my neighbor who had a hysterectomy yesterday. Its a long drive, and I have not driven that far by myself in over six weeks, so I am a bit apprehensive. It doesn't help that its cold, rainy weather.
I will be back in a little while to post some replies...I HAVE to get some coffee....
kengjw 11-23-2004, 10:47 AM Good morning...
It is yet another foggy morning and I know it will be raining on and off and probably get thunderous as time goes. This rainy days are really getting old but I really shouldn't complain since it is not life-threathening. We will have more rain tomorrow but looks like we will get a break at Thanksgiving day. I can't wait! Dh managed to take TG off last min because they had enough people there to cover on that day. We will join my next door neighbor for dinner. I will have to make something but not sure what yet. I will chat with her today. I need to go shopping today but will wait until the fogs clear a little more. Dh is off to his first meeting with the physical therapist, hope he gets a break from his back pain :( Okay, here's my menu :
Breakfast : Leftover ww pancakes and scrambled eggs. Water.
Snack : Fruits
Lunch : Baked salmon, sauteed cauliflower and broccoli, pasta.
Snack : Fruits
Dinner : No idea yet.
MONET : Yes, it sure feels great being able to rely on myself. As much as it is physcial independence, I also feel free mentally. It sure was hard relying on anyone a whole lot. I am so glad you slept well and no, it is not odd to hear you report about that as we know that it is important to you and amost everyone too. I know you guys probably get fed up of hearing me talk about "driving"...lol. That is why I love coming here, you can talk about anything especially something that concerns you and get the support and encouragement here. So, report away! If you do not feel comfortable driving far, then you shouldn't. Maybe you can give her a call at the hospital and tell her your concern and I am sure she will understand. Knowing that you have been thinking about her will brighten up her day. You can visit her after she is discharged from the hospital. She will need some company when she is bored recovering anyway :)
Looks like the fog has cleared up a little. I might go out to run some errands after dh comes home with my van. Will check in later. Good day!
Julia
HEARTMOM : I had one of those "blah" days...but they sure went away quick too. Hope you are feeling more like your bubbly self today :)
TEENSY : I have missed your posts. Glad all is well. A "fruit room" sounds so good...lol. I know it can be very discouraging when the scale don't move but you are doing such an awesome job. Not gaining to me is such an accomplishment because you can easily gain if you have not make good decisions everyday. Try to remember what good decisions you have made everyday and pat yourself on the back because they are the progress where the scales don't show immediately but in the near future it will :) Hang in there!!
COUNTRY : Thanks for your driving test story. What a mean examiner, as if we are don't have enough fear already...lol. How rude of him to address a young girl "little girl". I would be crushed too :) I didn't do a good job parallel park and had a had time seeing the cone on the side. When I was in the parking space, I asked the examiner if I can parallel park again, she said, "no, you are fine"...lol. I know I can do better...lol but thought she was going to fail me...lol.
FILLISE : Are you experiencing the same icky wet wether in AL? Have a safe trip tomorrow :)
Pancho 11-23-2004, 12:11 PM Can't spend too much time on here, since I have some cleaning to do. It's starting to get crazy now! I was 119.5# again this morning, so that's a good thing. I have a little wiggle room for Thanksgiving.
I will be taping Amazing Race tonight because my DH is out of town for work today, and won't be home until around 7 p.m. Once we get the kids to bed, I am going to go to the grocery store (solo). Once I get home, I have some more cleaning to do.
Tomorrow, I will drop Britt off at school and then go workout. I will then change clothes at the gym and go back to her school for Grandparent's Day. I am supposed to help set up and stuff. She gets out half day, so I will then take her and my niece to see the Polar Express at the Imax theatre. I then have to drive my niece home (which is an hour from our house) and then get home and start cooking/baking. I am waiting to vacuum and mop the kitchen until a lot of the baking is done, so that will be done tomorrow night...late, I'm sure.
I am making two different kinds of pumpkin pie, the german chocolate cake, and picking up a pre-made sugar-free cherry or peach pie at Fry's when I do my shopping. Britt also wants to decorate a sheet cake for my sister and mom's birthdays. My sisters b-day is Dec 3rd, and my moms is Nov. 27th, so we usually celebrate those while we are all together.
I hope to get back to regular posting next week, and doing replies too!
Monet: I get the Smart Balance butter spread in the refrigerated section. I have never seen it in a tub like Crisco. Do you find it with the oils, and where the other Crisco is? I would love to have it in that form.
HAPPY THANKSGIVING TO YOU ALL!!!!! Try not to stress out too much, and remember that Thursday is the day to be thankful for your good health, your family and friends. Enjoy!!!
God Bless you all!

sebray 11-23-2004, 12:23 PM oh and does anyone have the 'rules' for fructose? i bought some yesterday and id like to know how to use it so i dont screw it up lol
Solly 11-23-2004, 01:36 PM Good afternoon ladies.
Fixed dinner last night and then headed out to the grocery. It just takes forever to do all that. I hate it.
Ran to the health food store on the way home and gound a ww pizza frozen, some ww saltines, ww waffles, agave and ww pie crusts. I will make a pumpkin and chocolate pie for Thursday. Oh also got some soy totrilla chips. I think Pancho eats them. Can't wait to try them out.
Got my veggies for the veggie tray and a shrimp ring. This way My sister and I will have something legal to eat. I am also making a sweet potatoe casserole for us. Add the green beans and turkey and we have a legal dinner. I don't care much for stuffing so I can pass on that.
Ken, glad you are feeling better. Drive carefully. Glad your DH will be able to join you for Thanksgiving.
Heart, hope you are having a more energetic day.
Tennsy, how about shaking up your exercise routine. Are you eating enough?
Country, Hope your mom is feeling better. WTG getting that treadmill under your belt.
Monet, I know what you mean about your sleeping problems. Things like that are utmost in your mind, especially if you aren't able to do other things to occupy your mind. Mine was sleep and constipation.
Susan, sorry your trip got delayed. Hopeyou canfind something good to eat in the house.
Nat, sounds like you have one hectic schedule. Enjoy your holiday and your family.
Sebray, hope you can fight off that cold.
Have a great day
heartmom 11-23-2004, 03:07 PM Hey, guys. The weather here is suppossed to get bad sometime this evening. We are suppossed to be going to church this evening to hear a speaker, David Ring. I really hope the weather holds off, if it's too bad then we may have to miss it. I just got thru exercising and I didn't get it all done. I did my Burn it Up dvd and did the cardio section and had to stop for about 10 minutes because I got sick feeling and shaky. Then I resumed and only did 1/2 of the weight section, did the floorwork, but skipped the yoga/stretching. So I guess I missed about 10 minutes or so of the workout. Oh well. At least now I'm starting to feel better. I'm up 1 pound today, back to 160. The plan is to just stay legal until Thanksgiving and to get my workout in tomorrow because I know I won't be able to Thursday. Today, for BF I had leftover Mexican meatloaf..snack was LC yogurt...lunch will be My famous tuna salad with Ranch dressing and cheese. I have pinto beans and sausage in the crockpot for supper. Will be making cornbread for the rest of the family. You take the cornbread and put it in a bowl, cover with beans and sausage, salsa, cheese, and sour cream. Very good. Has anyone ever had Mexican meatloaf? It's different. I can't stand regular meatloaf with Italian seasonings so I tried this. I used 2 or maybe even 3 pounds ground beef, diced onion, 1 cup salsa, 1 packet taco seasoning, garlic, some cumin, paprika, chili powder. Mixed it all up and put it in the pan. I do not add egg or crackers/bread/oats. To me that just absorbs grease you don't need. I take it out of the oven halfway thru cooking and drain the grease and then again when almost done and it always stays together and comes out moist. It's a good kid pleaser, too. Well, all this talk about food is making me hungry for my lunch, lol.
heartmom 11-23-2004, 03:10 PM Oh, I forgot an ingredient. CHEESE! You add about a cup to the mixture or you can even wait until it's almost done and just put it on top.
Ellen 11-23-2004, 03:48 PM Well, I finished my book. I have to make some icing for this cake I made..unfortunately, it was for one of the single guys in our small group, but he is not going to make it tonight. I could freeze it, but I don't think I will. I feel kind of tired, so I may take a nap.
My plan was to go to the hospital to visit my neighbor, but I decided to wait until she got home since I had no desire to run over there in the rain and fog. I did as Julia suggested...and called her instead. :) Thanks, Julia! Since I had no desire to go anywhere, I let James take my car. I am stuck at home, but since I have been for almost six weeks, its no big deal. ;)
HEART: Your Mexican meat loaf sounds tasty... my kids like it when I made surprise meat loaf...I would seal cheese inside it. They thought that was cool...kids can be so silly! My mom always used oat...so I use a bit of oat bran. I always buy organic ground beef, which is like 94% lean, so the fat is not an issue. I am going to try your seasonings and see how it goes over...thanks for sharing.
SEBRAY: Fructose is sweeter than sugar. It does not work quite the same...I find baked goods brown more using it. I use about a third less fructose than sugar. Experiment a bit to see if that works for you. My husband likes using it. I try to avoid using it much, as I think it causes an insulin response for me...perhaps as much as sugar.
PANCHO: I get the 'margarine' Smart balance too...this stuff is Smart Balance shortening. I found it at Wal Mart by the Crisco in cans. It works almost the same as Crisco, but doesn't have the trans fats.
JACK: Did you find all that stuff at Whole Foods? My daughter may start working there...I hope and pray she does! She would get an employee discount! woo hoo! I have never looked to see if they had whole wheat pie crusts...I make my own, but sometimes, I love the ease of a frozen one! And whole wheat pizza? What is the brand name?
KENG: Are you sick of the rain too? I can't wait for it to clear off! Is Jess excited about the holidays coming up? You ought to let her make Turkey napkin rings for the table. Trace around her hand, and let her decorate it like turkey...then glue or tape a strip of paper in a ring to the back. You then can roll up a napkin, and put it in the ring on the back. Easy, cute and she will probably love it. :)
Ok, nap time for Monet! :bb:
kengjw 11-23-2004, 04:32 PM I think my appetize is almost back because I overate at lunch time today...lol. I made linguini in clam sauce and it was light and yummy. I love driving on my own today and I took dd with me. I drove a little far today and close to downtown Fayetteville so the traffic gets busy but I was very comfortable with it. Dh was worried about me and asked if I was sure that I don't need him to go with me. When we were at the store, he called me to see where I am (if I arrived the store safely) and told me he missed me...lol. Now, I can get used to this....LOL. Jess and I had a blast and we were a team, as what I told her. She told the cashier that I just got my license...lol, now everyone would know...LOL. I am okay with that, afterall it is the truth :) I managed to grab a bargain down comfortable for less than $50 for king size and the rest are groceries.
PANCHO : Looks like you will be busy from pie making to cleaning. I do have more cleaning to do too. WTG on staying at 119...you will do well on TG. I wonder if you feel strange going to the store without the kids. I know I will whenever Jess is not with me. I might stop and see if she is around or I lose her somewhere...lol.
SEBRAY : Wow, Christmas decorations already? Dh and I are such proscastinator so hopefully we can get the tree put up earlier this year...lol. Oh no, the cold gets you too? Drinks plenty of fluid (warm tea is so soothing for your throat), get your vit C and get plenty of rest. In SB, we are allowed to have no more than 5 grams of ADDED sugar per serving. I am not exactly sure if it is per meal but it sounds logical or else we might get too much added sugar. This would apply to fructose.
JACK-K : You got some great stuff from your health foodstore. I have to check out one that is closeby. TG dinner menu sounds good :)
HEART : I have not tried Mexican meatloaf but will try to make one soon. Sounds yummy!
MONET : Glad you decided to stay home. You really don't want to drive far in weather like this. I was out there earlier and it was busy. I had to go out because I don't want to go out tomorrow if I can. I might have to stop by Publix tomorrow, which depends what my neighbor wants me to make for TG but it is very closeby and have no traffic, so I am okay.
Got to check on dd now. What a gloomy day outside but I don't feel gloomy so that's okay :) Stay dry and safe everyone!
Julia
Solly 11-23-2004, 05:48 PM Monet, the pizza was Amy's. it was cheese and tomatoes I think. Let you know how I like it.
Heart, hope your weather holds out for youto get to church. It was been raining here for 2 weeks and I am sick of it.
ken, you crack me up about you driving everywhere. You are like a free bird now. Just watch out for the other guy.
My great nieces are coming home with my DD tonight to stay until TG. They are 9 & 11. So we will go ot for pizza. But the place has crustless pizza so I will be fine. Now if I can stay out of the cookies and brownies. Have a great evening.
THE BIG ORANGE BABE 11-23-2004, 08:32 PM EVENING EVERY BUDDY!!!
I'm on a fly by here...trying to get things done that I can't do tomorrow. I go for my last injection in the morning. We're off both Thursday and Friday so I should be able to get some rest in the five days that I'll be home.
I hope that everyone has a great Turkey Day! Enjoy your families!!!
I'll talk to y'all soon....
Oh..did anyone watch Swapping Wives last night? The couple from LA. are related to Missy and Terry..well Terry...very distantly...if you missed it last night, tune in next Monday night to catch the ending!
BOB
therubyslippers!! 11-23-2004, 08:58 PM Hi Everybody - I'm interrupting my nervous breakdown to wish all a Happy Thanksgiving, and I hope everyone has a turkey to cling to, I've got three: Hubby, Amazon girl and Patagonia boy. Been keeping up with reading, but no time to reply. Blessings on everyone! 'Til later - Ruby
Ellen 11-23-2004, 11:09 PM Hey everyone! Small group just left. One of the gals brought fried chicken from KFC. It was good...I even ate some mashed potatoes and gravy. :o Shame on me.
Not much else happening around here. I am really tired tonight. Not sure why...its not like I did much today. The swelling in my belly is really bad tonight too. I am SO sick of this. Tomorrow, I am hoping to think of someplace I want to go to. I will have my car, and I am determined to use it. I hope its not raining...then I might just go to the park and walk some. In the evening, I will go visit my neighbor. She is hoping to get home from the hospital in the afternoon. I want to make her a chicken casserole to keep in the freezer for emergencies. Thankfully, her sophomore in college daughter will be home for a month...I hope she can cook!
Gosh I am tired....talk to everyone tomorrow!
sebray 11-24-2004, 05:44 AM well since i cant sleep and i feel miserable i think ill be the first to post my WIW results.....drum roll please.......down another 2 pounds  oh and the ticker place has some new tickers and stuff for the holidays now :) i havent seen this side of 180 in almost a year :D now here's hoping i can keep it off
lets see...im going to try to respond now without looking back at what everyone wrote :dizzy:
im a closet xmas-aholic...i love to decorate and get in the spirit of things, i just never did it lol, but then i met kevin and he is an out-of-the-closet xmas-aholic and so he showed me how much good can be accomplished when you let it all out ;) we decorated so early because we have so much coming up and the conflicts with his work schedual and my class schedual is just silly, the other day was really the only day we really had together that we could dedicate time to do the tree...good thing we did too cause that night is when i got sick :(
i have drunk so much water today i think im going to float away...i have a feeling that tomorrow ill be sick as a dog...it always takes me a couple days to get the full effects of the cold..the first day or two is the sneezies and the scratchy throat, the third and fourth days are the worst...im worried that i wont be able to do the family rounds for TG :(
i am going to try very hard tomorrow to go for at least a short walk...i have an appointment that i cant reschedual anyway so maybe a brisk walk will help me feel better....that is, if it isnt raining still :(
kevin is really starting to go through withdrawls without his sugar  he kept whining today about how he would just DIE if he didnt get any pepsi..and if i wouldnt get him some pepsi i needed to make some tea (southern style lol not unsweet)...i just ignored him and told him to grab a bottle of water or a glass of juice .... it worked hehehe
monet (at least i think it was you lol) im glad u finished your book...i love to read myself, but i dont have time for any personal reading right now...too many assignments due for class...wouldnt be so hard i guess but philosopy is so hard to read...im glad you decided to stay home, dont rush urself, the important thing is that you touched base with your friend to make sure she was ok and to let her know you'll stop by for a visit when she's home...trust me, she'll be going through the same thing, she'll understand.
um...ok now im just running out of things to say but i dont want to stop talking because that means i have to try and lay down again and ill end up just tossing and turning and kevin will kick me out of bed again...so im just hanging on here talking in circles and making no sense so that i dont have to pretend to be able to sleep :(
well i think ill go make a pot of tea and find something light to eat :coffee: ...thats the trouble with staying up so darned late, you get really hungry when ur supposed to be sleeping :(
not sure how much ill post today, going to try and sleep away this cold...hope everyone has a wonderful day and a filling turkey day :)
Fillise 11-24-2004, 07:28 AM This is a quick stop to wish everyone a good Thanksgiving!
I know one of the things I will give thanks for is the warmth, friendship, and support I've found on this board!
Yesterday I found two loaves of the SB rustic WW loaf, so I bought them as the base for my oyster dressing. Our menu for the feast is:
Turkey
Oyster dressing
Rice and gravy
Brocolli in cheese sauce
Cranberry Sauce
Rolls
Desserts:
Pumpkin pie
Pecan pie
Mince meat pie
SF apple pie (for me)
I generally don't eat the rice or the rolls and as long as I have my SF apple pie, I've got a dessert and don't feel deprived (for another time, a rumination about how I can stuff myself at thanksgiving and still "feel deprived" if I don't get pie. . .) My dressing will be made with the SF WW bread, will be legal and will be the only starchy carb for the meal (other than the pie crust).
For those of you wanting to make a legal pie--Monet's WW pie crust is DA BOMB! It's on the recipe boards or I'm sure she can be coaxed into giving it out once again!
I'm probaby going to be driving in nasty rain most of the day today--and don't know when I can get back on--so Have a great THANKSGIVING!

Debelli 11-24-2004, 09:39 AM THANKSGIVING!:
'Twas the night of Thanksgiving ~
But I just couldn't sleep,
I tried counting backwards ~
I tried counting sheep ...
The leftovers beckoned ~
The dark meat and white,
But I fought the temptation ~
With all of my might ...
Tossing and turning with anticipation
The thought of a snack became infatuation
So, I raced to the kitchen, flung open the door
And gazed at the fridge, full of goodies galore
Gobbled up turkey and buttered potatoes
Pickles and carrots, beans and tomatoes
I felt myself swelling so plump and so round
'Til all of a sudden, I rose off the ground!
I crashed through the ceiling,
Floating into the sky
With a mouthful of pudding,
And a handful of pie
But I managed to yell
As I soared past the trees
Happy eating to all!
Pass the cranberries, Please!
May your stuffing be tasty,
May your turkey! be plump,
May your potatoes 'n Gravy,
Have nary a lump
May your yams be delicious,
May your pies take the prize
May your thanksgiving dinner
Stay off of your thighs!
May your Thanksgiving Be Blessed!
Debelli 11-24-2004, 10:17 AM Yes, tis I - I know, thought I was dead, or at least close to it.
What you think you know to be true to be, is never the case. Here, I thought once MICHAEL left for school I'd have so much time on my hand, I'd have NO problem with getting on the board, and staying up-to-date. Even after all the crap with the apt. house, I thought life would get back to what I consider as being normal. :nono:
What I HAVE come to learn is some of the following:
Things happen that are beyond your control
My house is much dirtier than I ever thought it was
Interrupt me while I'm doing something, I'll stop and never go back, or it takes me forever to do so
I get bored and sidetracked very easily (this I knew before, but just confirmed it over and over again)
Even though MICHAEL is gone, I'm still doing stuff for him from home
the list could go on....
So, what's been going on with me that's been keeping me from the board...
Well, first off - cleaning this house - OMG:fr: it's so much worse than I ever thought. Things you may not notice unless you were the clean freak inspector general I notice now - was I blind and all of a sudden, my sight restored:?: I am cleaning things that I've never cleaned or haven't been cleaned in at least 10 years. Miniblinds, it looks like dustbunnies have multiplied upon each other - this can't be vacuumed either - I need to go SLAT BY SLAT and clean them by hand. The ones in my bathroom, UGH, I have no made it a "RULE" that each time I hit the urination station I have to clean at least 2 slats on there. Only 20 more to go!
On a good note, my kitchen is actually clean - what you notice and what you wouldn't, and it's been that way for weeks now and I love it! People comment on it (gawd knows what they thought before when they came over!) It's been so easy to keep clean and honestly, I'm dreading MICHAEL coming home next month because I think I'll kill him if he even THINKS about messing it up! His room is clean, LAUREN'S bathroom is clean-this took me days!!! Wish you could see the pictures - I'm like a proud parent showing off a new child!:D
MICHAEL'S BEDROOM: what a task this was! People can't believe it's the same home. I swear, when people come over, it's like I'm taking them on a tour of Graceland, or similar!
Still helping parents with apt. house, would you believe, NOTHING has been done beyond electrical in the hallways. The ins. STILL hasn't given a red cent - not surprised, people with damamged homes in FL are getting the runaround with amounts no where near what my parents place should be getting!
I've been on the computer, but not on an "enjoyment level" Trying to find tickets, at a good price, is not only time consuming, but taxing. MICHAEL, I knew, was going to my cousins house in MD, but had to go to the Harvard-Yale game last Sat. Not knowing his plans til less than 1 week before, he had me scrambling on line. I can't afford hundreds of dollars to get him here and there, esp. when he is coming home next month. Hours and hours of time on the computer did pay off, however, and I got him from Boston on Monday to my cousins flying in the DC and then flying back to Hartford on Friday morning. I was told he'd have to take a taxi in Boston to Logan Airport, at the tune of $35 - found the directions via the subway - took it to the airport without incident for $1.25! Now, I do have to spend today trying to find him a way back from Hartford to campus - there's a shuttle that's $34, but I can probably get him there for half that if I put my mind to it. Call me cheap, but hey, I think of it as being frugal out of necessity and I need to cut costs any way I can.
I also was on line trying to find my parents a ticket to Vegas - again, hours on the 'puter, but found them an awesome deal WITH hotel for less than the flight alone and from a airport farther away - they were happy! Also, my cousin is coming tomorrow - he was ready to pay alomst $500 to come for just a couple days, to see my Grandfather, got him rt for $242:) He was happy.
Speaking of GF, who I got to see on the 14th. He's back in the hospital. Chest pains where the nitro wasn't working. My Uncle was trying so hard to find a transport company to get him to TG dinner tomorrow, and just when he found one, GRAMPS is back in the hospital and won't be able to get out:cry: It's so sad, as we know this is going to be his last TG:cry: He's so weak, it's really sad. He can't even hold one of those foam balls to help with dexterity. We are going up early tomorrow to see him before we go to WPB to my Aunt and Uncles for the TG meal.
AND with that all happening, I am also trying to get this house in order because, it's not a matter of if, but when my GF does go, my house is going to be where we go after the fact as I'm the one who has a house big enough AND it's closer than anyone else's.
THEN, I have ELI'S friend, DAVE and his wife coming over tonight, and I don't like either one of them, esp. the wife! My house isn't really ready for "outside visitors" but I guess I have to grin and bear it. I hate it though. I'm the kind of person that, if I don't like you, I won't pretend to, and I don't like them and I don't want to spend the evening with them.
So now, my home, still not complete, but it IS important that I get it done and it's my focus and priority. It's getting there, but have lots of stuff to do still. I've spent days without going out of this house, just so I can get it done, or make a dent. If I get on the computer, like I have now, over an hour has now gone by and before I turn around, more time going by.
I think, even though I could come on and do a quick hello, for me, it's harder for me to do that then to sit and do a decent post. I like doing things "right" or don't do them at all, not half-assed. I want to get on the board, but not do these "quickies" so I don't come on at all, because I just don't have the time to do a proper post.
BUT, I am hoping, that come the New Year, after MICHAEL leaves, and my house is FINALLY in order (which will stay as such since it seems so easy to do so in the areas that are already done) that I can get back on and focus on this other aspect of my life.
Oh, and WOE, I fell off the wagon, once again but plan on getting back on track come Friday! Oh, and it seems, when I hit 43 - arthitis and sleep problems hit me as well. I'm falling apart!!!!
Well gals, I hope you all have a wonderful Thanksgiving. Again, I will try to get on when I can, I really do miss everyone, honestly!
{{{{HUGS}}}}:grouphug:
Deb
Debelli 11-24-2004, 10:30 AM Oh, and Chanukah is just around the corner - let's not even talk about the wrapping that I despise doing. My shopping is about done, but wrapping, that's a whole other story:mad: I think the first night is the 7th:eek: (such a good Jew, I don't even know for sure).
Well, at least I don't have to worry about wrapping MICHAEL'S presents before this date - he'll have to wait til he gets home! But, with 8 presents for LAUREN to wrap, then 8 for MICHAEL, 2 each for the nieces and nephew and then others (like the old fart), it's a task I don't enjoy but have to do! Not that others don't do the same, but at least you still have a month:yes:
HAPPY SHOPPING ON FRIDAY for all of us who dare venture to the stores and mall (no malls for me, just stores!)
Ellen 11-24-2004, 11:37 AM Oh my goodness, is that DEBELLI I see posting!?!?! :faint:
I am late this morning...when it rains my DSL gets flakey. It was this morning. I could not get on, so I took James to work, then went to the store. It was my first solo trip since the surgery and I did ok. I should have gone right on to the library to pick up my books on hold, because I came home, and went to the potty, and while I was relaxing looking at a catalog in there, it started pouring rain again! Grrrr... Now I am not too sure about going out. Guess I will boil the chickens I got and make the casserole for my neighbor. Hopefully, by the time I am done, the rain will stop. SO..I took off the uncomfortable outdoor clothes and put my comfy nightgown back on. Ah! I am really having trouble with swelling in my ab area today, and its driving me crazy. I am SO ready for this stuff to be over. I wish I were like so many women who wake up from this surgery feeling so much better, they can't believe it. I am getting depressed about it.
Will be back later to do replies.
techwife 11-24-2004, 12:30 PM Okay, Sebray. First...WAHOOO FOR YOU!! Your first time in the 170's in a long time must feel great!!
BUT!!
I've been watching your ticker and noticed you're goal is just like mine and I've been secretly watching you to be sure I stay ahead of you (all in the name of fun, of course!!) and seeing as how I'm kind of stuck at 174 and dying to get into the 160s for the first time in about six years, I'd like to offer you a challenge...you try and catch me and I'll try to stay ahead of you just a smidge.
Are you up for it??? :strong:
Reason I think I'm stuck at 174 is that I took the kids to the movies and conveniently kind of forgot I was on a diet and ate enormous amounts of popcorn. And I had some the night before with the family watching TV. AND yet, another fund raiser I'd paid for over the summer came back to the door this weekend...my $15 tin of chocolate caramel crunch popcorn from the Boy Scouts!! I did very well though and only took a kernel here and there while my son and my husband ate the rest.
And, Sebray, tomorrow is your chance to catch up as I'm not holding anything back on Thanksgiving and plan to eat illegal pie, illegal pototoes, illegal stuffing and...well, I think everything else is legal pretty much, isn't it?
Anyhow..one day of spoiling myself in the name of it being a holiday and then it's back on track the next day. If I go out for a long walk maybe I should be just fine and I'll have the memories of delicious stuffing to carry me through to my goal.
Anyhow, Sebray, let me know if you're up to the challenge!! You're already gaining on me fast!!
Techwife....
Solly 11-24-2004, 01:51 PM Good afternoon ladies.
Just got back from a meeting and it's almost lunch time. Good thing as I am ready to chew my arm off. Are arms legal?
Went for pizza last night. Has the crustless and half a salad. Broght some for lunch to. I think dinner will be Hooters, so I will get the naked wings and a salad.
Just want to wish everyone a wonderful Thanksgiving. Take a few moments and count your numerous blessings. I am thankful, like Fillise, for this board and the friends I have made here.
For those trying to stay legal tomorrow, good luck. For those with no intention of doing so, enjoy and get right back on track Friday.
We will be heading out at the butt crack of dawn to shop. I only have a few hours with my youngest DD as she has to go back to Lexington to wrok at 3:00. Will spend the rest of the weekend finishing up the decorations.
Bob, hopefully 5 days of rest will make you a new woman. Have a great TG. Are you cooking? Don't need to wish you luck on the game Sat. I'm sure the Vols will clean our clock.
Ruby, hope things calm down for you.
Sebray, congrats on the 2 lbs. You are doing great. Sure hope that cold holds off for the holiday. It's awful to be sick on turkey day.
Susan, have a safe trip and a great Thanksgiving. Your menu looks great and legal.
Deb, it was great to see a post. Can't believe you are so deep in cleaning. Busy and usual, it wears me out just reading your post. Looking forward to the new year (in more ways than one) to see you posting more. Happy Thanksgiving & Chanukah.
Monet, try not to get depressed. You know what that leads to... :hungry: Glad your first venture out alone went well. Things will get better soon. We are not patient creatures are we?
Techwife, nothing better for motivation than a challenge. We used to do them every week here. May the biggest loser win! ;)
Hope to check back later, but if not, talk to you all on Monday. Happy Turkey Day!!!
Solly 11-24-2004, 01:54 PM Oh my gosh, how could I forget, I am down 2 pounds this week.
Congrats to all the losers.
sebray 11-24-2004, 01:59 PM Tech: you got urself a challenge :D not sure how ill do...ive never been one to stick to a diet/woe lol but im firm in sticking with this...and im not sure at what weight ill plateu at...but im up for it :) im assuming my scale is correct lol the real test is when i go to the doc in Jan for some blood work and get on her scale...then we'll see how much i weigh (or if kevin gets me the much wanted digital scale for xmas hehe)
TG wount be too hard for me...im going to get off the wagon for tomorrow but more likely then not ill still eat OP lol simply because im not a mashed potatos kinda gal...ill eat the turkey and gravey and maybe a few other things but i always have small portions and have never really liked the starchy stuff...but i AM going to have a peice of my delicious 'sendyoustraighttohell chocolate lava cake'
didnt get to walk today because its STILL pouring down rain  but im going to walk twice as long tomorrow if it doesnt rain!!! didnt get much sleep last night..think i finally fell asleep about 6:30am but woke up at 11am and couldnt go back to sleep....just made some chicken and dumplings in the crock pot for the rest of the family for dinner...ill have something else...i think i feel a bit better today but ill know for sure as the day wears on lol...still have to go to my appointment but i fell well enough to go..that is, if they still want me to bring my sick bum to them (with the whole flu season thing)...still waiting on them to call me and let me know if i should stay home lol.
Monet: dont worry hon, everyone heals differently, and it will get better when its ready...i know thats not much of a consilation for ya but when i had my hysterectomy it took me almost 3 months to heal :( and when i had my gall bladder out a couple months ago everyone said 'Oh your only going to need 2 weeks and you'll feel like urself again' .. BAH i say....took me almost 2 MONTHS!!!
Debelli:  the thing i hate most about holidays is the stress...its this time of year that i need my support group the most...just make sure you take some well deserved time for yourself and try not to overdo it...and remember...holidays dont last forever :D
well i need to figure something quick for lunch and then get in the shower and scrub my funky monkey bum  HAPPY THANKSGIVING to everyone!!!!!
sebray 11-24-2004, 02:09 PM i am ever grateful for the goodness in people...i have been blessed my whole life....always when i needed help or got in way over my head there has been someone there ...and most of them have been strangers that i have never met before
of course i am grateful for my children...they have each had occasion to save my life
and this group is one of the best things that has happened to my support system in a long time, im so grateful for each and every one of you...even the silent ones :)
Ellen 11-24-2004, 02:32 PM Ok, I am about to venture out...hoping I don't melt...to get my library books. I guess I have to pay my fine too. It was not my fault..honest! Laura was supposed to take the books back for me when I had my surgery and I found them on the floor of her messy room two weeks later! :yikes:
I got an email from Gator. She is back from France...said they had a wonderful time. She sent me an awesome cranberry recipe...made with sugar free jello. I may try it. I am not big on aspartame though... :( She said she is doing ok, keeping up her walking and working out, and is busy. Hopefully, she will be back to posting soon. I sure miss her! :(
I realize its WIW, but I am not going to deal with the #($&$&^# scale today. I am depressed enough! I did read an interesting article on Mercola's site about Syndrome X, and one thing they recommend is eating only two or three times a day. This peaks my interest, since I was probably eating the same calorie wise, but only have two or three meals a day as I did not want to walk downstairs more often...so I am going to try cutting out all snacks. Wish me luck....
JACK: Way to go on the loss!
TECH: You are doing great!
SEBRAY: Wow..8 pounds already!
kengjw 11-24-2004, 04:03 PM Good afternoon,
The rain has finally stopped...for now. DD and I was so bored this morning that I let her play in the garage and in the light rain as well. She had a blast. Nothing much going on here except waiting for the time to pass.....tick! tick! lol. Yes, I did weigh in today, lost 1 lb, must be because of the cold. I am happy with my weight now and don't want to lose anymore. I just want to make sure my blood sugar continues to be in a good range.
Here is my menu for today :
Breakfast : 1 ww toast and 1 chicken patti (not legal). Water
Snack : Fruit salad.
Lunch : Seared filet mignon, sauteed brussel sprouts and baked sweet potatoes.
Snack : Fruit salad and nuts.
Dinner : Ham and cheese sandwich and mixed green salad.
JACK : I will be as careful as I can be. I won't drive anywhere too far and too busy for now. I really have to be extra careful since dd is with me most of the time. Thanks for the reminder :) Naked wings in Hooters?? LOL. You can tell I have yet to eat at Hooters :) Woo Hoo...2 lbs! WTG!
BOB : Thinking of you today. Hope your injection went well.
RUBY : Hey there!! I have missed you. Now, take it easy ok? Hope you have a wonderful Thanksgiving as well :)
MONET : I love KFC especially the original recipe, infact my fav fried chicken :) In Malaysia, if you want to eat fried chicken, you go to KFC and if you want to eat burgers, you go to MacD...lol. Although they are other stores but these 2 chains are the most famous with the malaysians but fast food is a treat since it is kind of pricey than regular malaysian food. I am sure your chicken casserole would be appreciated. The weather is nasty out there and I am so glad I am indoor. Hope your trip tot he library was pleasant and of course the fine wasn't too bad :)
SEBRAY : Woo Hoo!! 2 lbs are awesome!! You are doing very well, keep it up! I think I am a closet xmas'holic too but mostly because of the way I am brought up plus dh is not big on decorations but now that I drive, I intend to slowly get my christmas stuff so I can decorate my house a little more. As for Kevin's sugar withdrawal, he can certainly find other sodas that are made with Splenda. I heard some people really like "Diet Rite"? If worst come to worst, only have pepsi on very rare ocassion, if he really wants to. If he can stand it, then do without. I just don't want him to burst big time and then go on a pepsi drinking spree...lol. You will beat the challenge with techwife, just keep coming here!!
FILLISE : Happy Thanksgiving to you! Your menu sounds yummy!
DEB : Hello!! Glad to hear from you. Now, have fun and don't stress yourself too much.
TECHWIFE : Great challenge idea! I am sure both of you will reach your goal. Just hang around!!
Okey dokie...got to go...kitchen needs to be cleaned! Good day everyone!
Julia
kengjw 11-24-2004, 04:05 PM TONI : I have missed you!! Report in when you can :)
Julia
Toni48 11-24-2004, 04:37 PM Hi Julia. I'm still alive and kicking. Getting my stuff done for my part of the meal at my sisters. Got my sugar free pumpkin pie baking and already made a sugar free apple pie. I made a legal fruit salad and sugar free cranberries already. Also made a mock cornbread and made dressing from it. Hope its good. Because my sis is diabetic it makes it easier to stay close to SB. Will pop back in later.....
sebray 11-24-2004, 07:12 PM well im still feeling better :) just a bit stuffy and sneezy...hopefully ill stay like this till tomorrow night lol...i made a detour on my way home from my appointment and went for a walk :) only did half of it (2 miles instead of the usual 4) but i didnt want to overdo it while im not feeling good...the walk was just beautiful...the sky was dark from rain and the sun was shining so everything was so bright and clear and on the way back to the car the sun had started to set and the clouds were turning an orangy-pink color and making the mountains that color....it was breathtaking...i really love living in tennessee :D
managed to work up an appetite so i had 2 grilled cheese with a slice of ham on them ... mmm yummy
i only have to bring a cake tomorrow so ill wait until the morning to make it so it will still be warm
Keng: kevin will have to blow up then.....cause im NOT buying him soda...ill be too tempted to buy some for myself lol
Monet: hope ur trip to the library went well and that ur fine wasnt too much.....i know..im a bit worried about the rapid weight loss...but ive been using my diet power and have been just under my daily calories and drinking enough water...so im sure that ill hit a speedbump soon and start to slow down ... although i could get used to losing weight this fast
well im gonna go make some houses for my little sims hehe and try to get to bed early...i REALLY want to go for a full walk tomorrow before i eat lol
HAPPY HOLIDAYS
heartmom 11-24-2004, 10:46 PM Hey guys. Well, it looks like I decided to start celebrating TG a day early and then continue on thru tomorrow :o Won't go into detail. Just hope BOB will be headed my direction with the wagon come Friday! I just made my dressing and I'm waiting for it to cool a bit before I stick it in the fridge. All I have to make in the morning is green bean casserole and butter beans. My parents are making the rest. We'll be having turkey, roast, dressing and gravy, butter beans, green bean casserole, my Dad's famous potato salad, deviled eggs, some cheesy casserole my Mom is making, rolls. Dessert is pecan pie, homemade banana pudding, and homemade pineapple upside down cake. I'm going to need a wheelbarrow after that. Anyway, I just want to wish everyone a Happy Thanksgiving! I'm very thankful to God in many ways. I give thanks and praise utmost for my Boogie who is just a miracle to be here celebrating TG with all of us.
heartmom 11-24-2004, 10:50 PM BOB- Did you mean the show Trading Spouses? I saw it..the little boy ZZ is so adorable. Now, those guys are true Cajun! I grew up in New Orleans/Slidell and the accent was never that prominent. As for the other lady who is Vegan, she got on my nerves. I thought the Louisiana woman handled herself graciously especially when she was amongst all the other lady's Vegan friends.
sebray 11-25-2004, 04:14 AM yea...so much for going to bed early...*looks at the clock and grimaces* its after 3am and im FINALLY going to bed...ill try to get about 5 hours of sleep and then head out for my walk before we do the rounds at everyone's house for dinner
im feeling a bit worse (because i didnt go to bed when i should have) but hopefully ill be able to hit the hay early tomorrow night...i just want to hurry up and get TG over with lol...
night all
Ellen 11-25-2004, 08:12 AM Good morning! Its windy and cold here. Its the butt crack of dawn, but I have been awake for over two hours and I am feeling cranky about that. I woke up at 4, and could not get back to sleep. I finally got up at about 5:45 to put the ham in the oven. (Yay! NO turkey here! I HATE turkey!) The cats were very interested in the fact that it was ME instead of Tom getting up that early. I made a pot of coffee, and poured myself a cup but now my stomach feels gross...hence the cranky.
I am really getting tired of this insomnia crap. I can't sleep! It makes no sense at all. Once I do fall asleep, it doesn't last more than two hours. I am so tempted to use the sleeping pills the doctor gave me when I had mono. There is something in me that fears sleeping pills, or being put under, but I crave a good nights sleep more I think.
I may go crawl in bed when I am done here, and see if I can sleep.
Last night, I went over to see my neighbor and visited with her a bit. She is doing well. Then I walked home in the dark. Its only half a block, but it felt nice to be out walking some. I hope the rain is really gone today, so I can start walking more. When I got home, we ate dinner, and James took off to see a movie. Laura was at work, and it was just Tom and me. I vented. Poor Tom. I have been feeling so depressed and upset about a lot of things, I just spewed. I can't get over what a wonderful man I have. He just sat down on the bed and snuggled me for an hour. Sometimes, I feel like he is the only good thing in my life. Ok, sorry. Here it is Thanksgiving Day, and Monet is whining and being a brat. I need to think about all I have to be thankful for...and it is surely more than just my fabulous, wonderful husband who is the love of my life.
Happy Thanksgiving everyone!
kengjw 11-25-2004, 11:26 AM Happy Thanksgiving everyone!!! (inlcude you Melinda!! :)
Oh, what a beautiful day today. Glad the rain is over with and the sun is out. It has been few long days of rain but I can't complain :) We are going over to my nextdoor neighbor's house for dinner, or is it lunch (2pm). She wouldn't let me cook anything so I am going to try to get her and her husband something. I know they enjoy watching movies so I am thinking of getting them some "movie gift card" so they can watch any movies they like. Dh said my minivan's battery is not working. He had to jumpstart it to get home last night and when the car was in the garage, it won't start again. So, it's time for a new battery. Good thing Walmart is open so we will get the battery there.
I am so thankful for everything, most of all the opportunity to live my life better. I didn't have a bad life but I have been hiding behind a lot of my fears that I feel I had not really live but now, I feel alive and doing things that I never thought I will be able to do. This year, I actually tackled 2 of my biggest fears. One is going to the dentist (haven't been since I was a young girl) and the other was driving. I feel so blessed to have an opportunity to do better. I am so thankful for the peace and hope that I have and for all the precious friends and family that surrounds me. What more can I ask for?
MONET : {{{HUGS}}} Our feelings get the best of us sometimes. For what you had gone thru and still going thru, you are doing wonderfully. I hope that when I am faced with challenges, I will stand tall like you. Yes, we all get depress and whine sometimes because we are not created to be prefect. Trust me, I do that a lot but I have to keep reminding myself that it is okay and at times like these that it allows me to reflect on myself and many times, I came out being so much more thankful. Tom is given to you for good reasons and I am sure Tom feels the same way about how you feel about him. He also see things about you that you don't see or that you miss to notice about yourself. Don't wonder why he loves you so and why you are blessed with this wonderful man because he obviously see many awesome things about you that even you don't see. Okay, I am repeating myself...lol but the point is, you are a beautiful person and yes, you have more to thankful for...such an "us" here...LOL. Happy Thanksgiving!!
SEBRAY : Hope you feel better this morning. Yes, rest is so important when you are sicked so please rest when you can.
I am sorry I won't get to reply to everyone today but I hope you all have a fantastic day with your family or friends or both :) I will check in again later.
Julia
kengjw 11-25-2004, 07:49 PM I am back from our Thanksgiving dinner at our neighbor's house. It was fantastic!! I have to say, it was the best Thanksgiving dinner I ever had. The bread stuffing was awesome, so moist and so flavourful. I usually don't care for Turkey but their Turkey is very moist and if I didn't know, I would have think it was a chicken. Beside turkey and bread stuffing, they had baked sweet potatoes, mashed potatoes, baked winter squash (with Agave and cinnamon), can cranberry sauce (which was my first time but it was good), green beans with bacon, asparagus with holindaise (sp?)sauce and Lousiana dirty rice. Dessert were pumpkin pie (made with Splenda but the crust is probably not legal) and banana nut bread (which I didn't eat). I did over-eat on the starch especially the bread dressing that I absolutely love. It was yummy!
Dh is asleep on the couch. He could hardly stay awake after the dinner...lol. I am going to put Jess to sleep soon and then I would take a rest myself. Overall, we had a fantastic day. I did manage to get my neighbor a movie gift card which I know they will enjoy. I hope everyone have a great day as well.
Julia
Ellen 11-25-2004, 08:58 PM Evening! The day went better than my early morning! I did get in a 30 minute nap after dinner, so I am rather tired since I have been up since 4. We had ham, baked sweet potatoes, cranberry sauce, green bean casserole, egg nog pie, fudge, pumpkin cheese pie, and broccoli in cheese sauce. I had some of each dessert, and too much cranberry sauce. I never did get around to trying Gator's recipe for cranberry congealed salad, so I hope I can try it for Christmas. I need to lay off the fudge...the girls made it after dinner. Its rather yummy.
I have rested a lot this afternoon out of necessity. I just hurt so much where my belly is still swollen from the surgery, I had to go sit down. Ruth sat and talked with me for over an hour, which was great. I really miss spending time with her now that they have moved 45 minutes away.
Laura had to work, and Tom, James, Ruth and Erik are all watching a DVD, so I think I will read some.
I hope everyone has had a great holiday!

http://www.TickerFactory.com/ezt/d/3;2;64;0;1/c/172/t/120/s/172/k/5319/weight.png
These ticker things really caught my attention. So here goes! How do you change your weight on them?
BTW, notice the wonderful blue and orange colors on mine.
sebray 11-25-2004, 11:20 PM just poping in to say hello and that i survived yet another holiday  im truly exhausted, i didnt get to sleep till 7:30 this morning and tossed and turned till 11 when i finally had to get up and do the rounds at the family's house...its after 10 now and we just got home...so im going to take some medicine and try to go get some sleep...hope everyone made it ok through the day...ill read and respond tomorrow
sweet dreams :)
sebray 11-25-2004, 11:22 PM oh and Gater....you have to make a new ticker and replace the old one each time you have a loss :)
Ellen 11-26-2004, 12:24 AM Yay! Its good to see you post, Gator! I have really missed you! Your orange and blue is nice, but ONLY because it was my high school colors. You know I am partial to red and black.....
sebray 11-26-2004, 03:04 AM Ok its 2am and im going to drag my bum to bed and make kevin rub my back...hopefully that will put me to sleep
according to dietpower, i was only 300 calories over my budget today and with a quick 2 mile walk between dinners  i ended up only being 146 calories over...good thing i have over 4000 calories in my bank ;)
TECHWIFE: check your PMs pls ... i have a super secret secret to whisper to you :D
night everyone
I am sooooooo going to veg tomorrow (well its today now acctually lol)
Ellen 11-26-2004, 10:15 AM Good Morning! I actually slept a little better last night. I took a pain pill AND ibuprofen before I went to bed. Not the best thing to do for sleep, but at least I was very pain free. ;)
I need my head examined, but I may ventured out to shop a bit today with Ruth. I really want to go over and look at Lazy Boy for recliners. The two I have are Ruth and Eriks, and they have been a Godsend...but I want two I can keep in the living room for when we have small group. We never have enough chairs.
I need to go and make some coffee. I don't think I will be able to get Tom up to do it for me. He was still up when I went to bed last night, watching a movie. I did not notice when he came to bed so it must have been late.
I hope everyone had a great day yesterday, but you all better be back on track, or BOB is bringing the wagon, with Monet on the front seat with her broom to get you all beat back into shape!
Later!
Mishi 11-26-2004, 11:04 AM Hi Everyone!
I'm back to SB.. I was here in March and April and did very well with the plan. Then my family moved, I fell off the proverbial wagon, went back to Atkins, haven't had great success and decided I needed to get back to Sugar Busting!!
Thanksgiving got me good yesterday.. LOL
But, here I sit.. I'll try to update daily with my menus to see if I'm doing it ok. ;)
Ellen 11-26-2004, 01:53 PM Welcome back, Mishi! I am delighted to see you posting.... :)
sebray 11-26-2004, 01:58 PM *falls off the wagon just to get a visit from Monet* :D glad you slept better last night Monet...I had a pretty good night as well :)
Howdy Mishi :D welcome back
i know i said i was going to veg today but i acctually have some energy so im off to clean my poor neglected kitchen :)
Ellen 11-26-2004, 08:33 PM I got smart and did not go shopping. Ruth called and said it was good I did not go...it was a zoo! I rested most of the afternoon, then went for a mile walk with Tom before it got dark. I am waiting on him to get to a good stopping place in the DVD he is watching with James so we can go to the grocery store. We need milk and a few other essentials. I also want to get a bag of the multi bean soup they have. I have ham stock to make it with.
I was naughty and ate some more of the fudge the girls made yesterday. Shame on me! :(
Hope everyone is doing ok...I know Fillise is shopping her marathon session. Any other crazies out there today, trying to buy all their holiday presents?
Teensybean 11-27-2004, 02:09 AM Hello all--
Thanksgiving is over for another year!! We had a wonderful dinner, and I ate legal. I made stuffing from all the crusts I had saved from my homemade bread. Pies were all SF and WW crust. I did have a thin sliver of each pie, but not whole pieces. Whoops, I guess the gravy wasn't really legal, (Mom made it) but I only had a couple of tablespoons on my stuffing. I didn't eat as many veggies as I should have, but it is only one day!!
Today eating was good, here is my menu;
B-- Lite 85, 1/2 c Fiber One, 1/4 c FF milk, 1 tsp cinnamon, 8 drops liquid Splenda.
snack-- apple
L-- 5 oz turkey, green salad with lite bleu cheese dressing, SF cranberries.
snack-- Orange
D-- 5 oz Turkey, 3 oz sweet potato with 1 tsp butter, SF cranberries.
Dessert-- I ate the blackberries out of a piece of pie with lite whipped cream.
Have to run into town in the morning to get dog food. Might do a bit of shopping for Christmas too. There were sure some great buys today, but I am just not into fighting the crowds at 5 am for them!! Too bad, there was a great buy on a 20 inch flat screen tv with built in DVD player for 139.00 I could have gotten that for Bill's room on the boat!
Well, hope you all have a great weekend.........
Ellen 11-27-2004, 08:56 AM Good Morning! I meant to get on here last night when I got back from the store, but didn't. I have some exciting news! Publix has a 100% whole wheat waffle! Its their brand, and its delicious! I got a box of them last night, and had two for dinner when we got home. It was a little late for dinner, but I just could not resist...I have been looking for ww waffles for ages! These have a bit more sugar per serving than I like (5 instead of just 3) but I do remember hearing that the new book says 5 instead of three. Also, since they are fine in every other way, I don't think it will be back once in a while. I put agave on them. Oh, heaven! Those of you who have Publix, check them out!
Does anyone have a recipe for a legal fruit syrup? Agave is a bit too sweet on my waffles, and I would much prefer a real fruit syrup to it.
I slept fairly well again...by taking Ibuprofen a half hour before bed, and a Lortab at bedtime. I hate using drugs to sleep, but it seems to be working some, which makes me wonder if my insomnia has something to do with being uncomfortable with some residual pain that wakes me up. I am still being tempted by the sleeping pills I have...I need to ask the doctor first.
Today, I need to get back on the straight and narrow...I hope Laura finished off that fudge! I ate entirely too much of it. I hope I did not give myself a relapse on the sugar addiction.
I really would like some coffee, so I may have to go make it myself. Poor Tom is still sleeping. I don't know what time he came to bed, but it was long after me! Guess I will be nice to him and make a pot! :coffee:
I will be back later!
THE BIG ORANGE BABE 11-27-2004, 12:57 PM IT'S FOOTBALL TIME.......IN TENNESSEE!!!!
My guys are finishing out the conference year against JACKIE'S CATS!
I see we've already started our holiday slowdown....Hope everyone had a great TurkeyDay!
I've got to pull my chair up to the tube and get positioned!
BOB
Ellen 11-27-2004, 03:42 PM I finished simmering the 15 bean soup in the ham broth. Oh my! It is wonderful! I added carrots and some minced onion. Tom had two bowls. I need to find the Gas X! Even James liked it.
Tom is working on the deck. He has on sweat pants, walking shorts over the sweats, a t-shirt, button shirt and sweat shirt, jacket, and a knit cap. No shoes. Gotta love that man! He has finished the railings and is working on the balustrades. He may be done in another day of working on it.
We were going to go for a walk, but its just too cold and windy. I slept ok last night, but I still am not feeling up to a walk. Today, I am trying to rest, read and rest some more. I still have awful, painful swelling and I want very much for it to go away!
Guess I will go back to my book. Talk to you all later!
kengjw 11-27-2004, 04:20 PM It is raining here again and the weatherman says it should not last long...hopefully. It is cold here and I believe we are slightly above 40's today. I didn't do much today except made lunch and did some laundry. Jess is having a cold again and I believe it was from me. Sighh..I hope I don't get it again. Overall, I am a little bored and restless. Dh is still driving my van to work so I can't go anywhere when he is at work. I think he doesn't want me to drive on my own so much so he is taking his sweet time changing the tires of his truck. On Thanksgiving day, I was planning to go to the theater (which wasn't too far and I have driven there many times with him) and get my neighbor a movie gift card but he wanted to come along. He said they were lots of people out there today. Well...not really. Anyway, he was really funny and worried which I understand.
My menu today :
Breakfast : Leftover stir-fry linguini with meat and veggies. I didn't know what to eat so I had leftover instead.
Snack : None
Lunch : Baked basa fish with spices, white wine, herbs, onions and bell-peppers. Sauteed green beans and onions and basmati pilaf with chopped veges.
Snack : Nuts and maybe fruits.
Dinner : Leftover basmati pilaf, sauteed green beans and a protein which I don't know what yet.
MISHI : Welcome back!! Please any any questions you like and stick around!!
SEBRAY : Are you feeling better today?
TEENSY : WTG on your eating!! You are such inspirations!!
MONET : No, I dare not go out there to shop. From what I saw on the news, I was so glad I stayed at home. All the stuff in the world cannot get me in that crowd...lol. It was brutal out there...lol. Thanks for the ww waffle info. I will be going to Publix tomorrow so I will have to check it out. I have been looking for a ww waffle as well but so far with no success. Jess loves waffle!!
Alright, time for snack. Will check in again later!
Julia

Toni48 11-27-2004, 05:29 PM Hello everyone. Sounds like there was some good Thanksgiving meals here. We had such a good meal at my sister's. But for some reason DH and I want some deviled eggs, so I've got eggs on to boil. Its cold and windy here. We've got our wood stove making it warm and toasty here. I've just finished a cup of hot tea. I've got some venison thawing out for dinner tonight. Its been so long since I've cooked any hope I can make it good. Now its time to look towards Christmas.....
kengjw 11-27-2004, 08:43 PM Good evening everyone...
I ate too much at dinner. It seems to be the issue the last 3 days. I have a feeling, it is almost time of the month again. My illegal stuff has been some leftover banana nut bread that my neighbor gave us. I ate a small piece here and there. I believe it is because I haven't been back to my regular meal and snack schedule. When I get hungry, it seems so easy to reach out for that banana nut bread parking in the fridge. Well, the bread is gone :)
My yeast infection is back again and I have called my dr for another prescription for Diflucan. I have a little more than 2 weeks to go...I mean my antibiotic and this dose should take care of it. The last 2 pills treatment I took was very effective and I was yeast free for over 1 month.
SEBRAY : If you feel lazy to get back on full force, try baby steps. Every little legal food you eat can benefit your body greatly so slowly add them back. Cough usually takes the longest time to get rid of but it will be history soon :) I don't know if you hit a plateau yet but give yourself sometime and let your body do some internal work that sometimes doesn't show on the scale. After few weeks and if the scale doesn't move, then you can do some tweeking to your menu and see if that helps. Right now, you are doing just fine, keep it up!
TONI : Glad you had a great Thanksgiving at your sister's. I like Devil's eggs too but have never made it myself. Yep, I am waiting for Christmas too :)
Got to go...have a goodnight!
Julia
GatorGal 11-27-2004, 10:18 PM Hello everyone,
I hope everyone had a great Thanksgiving holiday. For me--and my DH--we actually did not!
The eating was just fine:
turkey breast, creamed spinach, zucchini stuffed with zucchini "stuffing", no sugar cranberry fruited jelled relish (recipe I sent to Monet), sausage stuffing, a dab of gravy, a thin (1/2 ") sliver of pumpkin pie with no fat cool whip. Not really bad considering the damage I have done on previous Thanksgivings. As far as the calorie count or fat grams, I probably didn't do great, but I was happy because I was sane.
My two grown children spent the day with us. Actually, it was the plan for our son to bring his live in girlfriend and her two children over, and my DD would also come over. Everyone was contributing something to the meal. My son did the turkey, sausage stuffing and pumpkin pie. He arrived about 10 am. and started from scratch, even making the dressing. The turkey was put into the oven about noon, and came out about 4:30. We ate at 5, and we were all starving as the original plan was to eat about 2.
The difficulty for my DH and I is the lifestyle choices of our kids. My DS's girlfriend did not come at all. Her son, that lives out of state with her brother, and who was down for the school Thanksgiving vacation, came, as well as her youngest son, who is about 7 or 8 years old. She did not come because she said she had the hives. My DH and I looked at that as getting hives because she really was stressed out because she did not want to come. It was hard to be polite and not say anything about the flagrant "snub" and message of "I really don't want to be there with you" from her. My DD has started smoking again after a couple years of being cigarette free. We gave her quite a little bit of money to get accupuncture to help her get over the cigarette craving, and invested time and money to help her kick the habit. We were really sick to see that she has started this costly habit again. Her boyfriend, who is a total user, called 3 times during the day. He is living in Wash. state right now. He flies back every month or so. He has no job and no money to pay for a motel room or rental car. So he sponges off my DD and she chauffeurs him around while he lives in her house. She is an enabler and I guess they have a codependent relationship. It makes me sick to see the poor choices my kids make in the people they have chosen to have a relationship with. So the day was a bummer. My DH and I talked later about how we can avoid going through a day like this again. Maybe we will have to go on a mini-vacation for Thanksgiving and Christmas so we can avoid being around our kids. It is too painful to look at how they are living and we both have been depressed for the past 2 days.
My DH and I took a long walk this morning--3 miles. I got 11000 steps in today. That's about 4.5 miles for me. Eating has been good too. I've been trying to keep a general idea of my caloric intake. I think I had between 1200 and 1300 Kcals today.
B: 1 slice of WW toast, one boiled egg, 1/2 grapefruit
L: 1 turkey sandwich (2 oz. turkey breast, 1 T mayo, 1 sl. tomato, lettuce on 2 sl. WW bread), 10 cashews, 1/4" sliver pumpkin pie, without the edge crust, 1/2 piece cranberry bread. (The cranberry bread, and, yes, the pumpkin pie were not SB legal, but they were combined with protein, and were a small portion)
D: 3 oz. roasted pork tenderloin, small green salad, sautéed cabbage, applesauce.
BOB--I see that Ewe Tea had to work hard to pull out a W over the Wildcats in the last few seconds of the game. Whew!!
Fillise--Congrats on AU doing so well this season. Good luck for Atlanta. I hope they go all the way.
I've been very busy since our trip back from Paris. We had a great time there and I could actually speak French well enough that they seemed like they could understand me just fine. I still cant understand when they speak French fast, and there are plenty of words I don't know, but I felt really good about my speaking there.
I hope everyone has a good Sunday, and I'll be back soon.

heartmom 11-27-2004, 11:13 PM Well, I'm at a low point with this WOE. Since Wednesday, my eating has been the worse ever. I've been binge eating since Thursday. Mass quanities of illegal foods. I'm swollen and puffy today. I managed to stay legal today, but I've eaten wayyy too much, plus too many diet cokes. I will do better tomorrow. No telling how much weight I've piled on. I know I just need to give it a few days with staying on track and watching my starches and my appetite should settle down. Right now it's enormous. Well, I don't have much to say. I was checking in and needed to come clean. Ignore the ticker for now, lol. I imagine I'm at 165 maybe even higher with the fluid. Not weighing until Wednesday.

Ellen 11-28-2004, 12:22 AM Its about time to crawl in bed....
GATOR: I can relate to your frustrations with your kids. My son was making horrible choices, and back in August, suddenly decided he wanted to get out of his living situation (his roommate was a girl he had dated, but wasn't anymore, they were just friends). He moved back home and while I think he has a ways to go, I am a bit encouraged about the chance of him actually doing so. All we can do for our kids once they get to be adults is pray. I will join you in that, and pray for your kids to make wiser choices in their lives. Maybe taking a vacation over the holidays is a good idea. I sure can understand how you feel about your daughter smoking. I know mine does to look 'cool', which I just don't get. (I am not supposed to know this, but I do) How can anyone with a brain in their head smoke, knowing how bad it is for you? My son smoked some too, and it really bothered me. My parents both smoked, and my father died of a collapsed lung, due to emphesema and asthma, exacerbated by smoking for years.... Anyway, I am glad to see you back.
HEART: I am sorry you lost it and binged. You always do so well though, getting back on track. If I binged like you say you do, I would probably be back up to my top weight. I hope you can get back on track, and get down to where you want to be. The yo-yo dieting is really not good....it can mess up your metabolism.
Teensybean 11-28-2004, 01:02 AM Just popping in to post my menu----feeling puny today, sore throat and headachy. Didn't even go to Mom's for our potluck. Now is not the time to be getting sick. I have too much to get done for Christmas!!
B--1/2 c oatmeal made with water, 3 oz strawberries, 8 drops liquid Splenda, Lite 85.
Snack-- apple
L--5 oz turkey, salad with lite bleu cheese dressing, sf cranberries.
snack-- orange
D-- 1 thin slice homemade WW bread with 2 T nsa peanut butter, 1 T Smucker's all fruit. 1/2 c sf jello with light whipped cream.
A bit on the fat side with the peanut butter, but it is good fats.......
Going to hit the hay, hope I feel better tomorrow.
kengjw 11-28-2004, 01:28 AM It's after 12am and I just got out from the shower, can you believe it? I really dislike taking a bath when it is cold and procastinated until I have absolutely no more time left...lol. Anyway, at least I am cleaned now :) Hmmm...I am actually hungry. I felt it before I went to take a bath but decided to ignore it but now it is getting worst so i might actually have a piece of ww bread with some pb. That is usually what I eat if I am really hungry.
GATOR : Glad to see you back. I have missed you :) I am sorry for your troubles. Although I cannot relate as this moment but I know it will be my concern how my children live their lives. I have to agree with Monet that all you can do is pray for them. They are at the age where they can make decisions for themselves and every one decisions they make will have its consequences. You have done all you can and the rest is up to them. They are the ones that have to "want" to lead a healthy lifestyle and need to make the effort themselves. I pray that God will open their eyes and heart to do the right thing. {{{hugs}}} to you and husband. On a lighter note, I am so glad you and your dh had a great trip. I would love to visit France someday :)
HEART : You can get out of binging!! Keep making those small steps and pray and pray especially when you are weak. You can rely on HIS strength :)
TEENSY : Oh, no, you are not getting a cold are you? I have just recovered from one and then I gave it back to Jess and hope she doesn't give it back to me again. Hope you feel better soon.
MONET : I have no idea why people smoke and I certainly do not think they look cool in anyway. Maybe I am just a dork but when I was young teenager, I decided to try smoking, just once and boyy...that was my last. I tried because I wanted to know why people smoke. When I tasted how awful it was, I was more confused...lol. Hope you sleep good tonight :)

Bride2Be_Diane 11-28-2004, 04:38 AM Hi everyone!
I survived another Thanksgiving! I weighed myself today (Saturday) and I was down another .8. YIPPEE! :cb:
Hope everyone had a nice Thanksgiving!
Do any of you know of a fruit juice that's low in sugar? I found one today that has 30g of sugar per serving so I diluted it in half, but it's still high. I have a hard time getting in fruit everyday and the juice comes in handy.
Talk to you all later!
Diane :flow1:
sebray 11-28-2004, 07:43 AM well what can i say...its 6:30am and i havent been to sleep yet *sigh* this danged cold has my sleep schedual all screwed up :( i ate fairly well today i guess...woke up too late for BF or Lunch so i had baked mushroom chicken over some brown rice...it was yummy...but then i got the munchies and had a tiny bowl of Sf vanilla ice cream with a piece of totally illegal chocolate cake and a dash of chocolate syrup ... at this rate Tech will beat me by a landslide lol
Monet: im not sure y people smoke...its nasty and ugly and makes you sick....and yes i smoke :o i have smoked on and off for about 10 years now....when i was younger it was easy to quit..id quit for 6 months or so and then start up again...but now as im fast approaching my 30's its almost murder to quit...ive tried several times in the last year or so...if i had the money id go get hypnotised....i dont want to smoke anymore, but im so addicted to it...when im consciously thinking about it i am able to cut back...but then again, not sleeping good isnt helping me at all...i smoke more at this time of the night :(
Gator: im sorry that your children are like that...mine are too young right now for me to be going through that but i do understand how u feel...i was a child like that...i put my parents through hell worrying about me because of the way i chose to live my life...everyone is right, the only thing you can do is pray for them...when they get tired of living like that they'll change....just make sure you stand your ground and let them know their boundries with you....dont let them walk all over you....if you dont want your DD to smoke while she's visiting you then tell her, and stand firm to it...it will be hard for both of you but she will soon realize that what she is doing is affecting you and will eventually respect it...children learn through living, we have the best intentions for them when they are born and envision great things for them and from the moment they realize there is a world outside of them they start making their own rules and finding their own way....i worry about my boys all the time...and im always telling my parents how sorry i am for the way that i was growing up :) just because the kids grow up and move away doesnt mean our job as parents are done....worry never takes a holiday when it comes to our children....just know that you did a wonderful job, none of this is your fault, and they just need to find their own way in the world...when they do they will come running back to you with tears in their eyes and 'Im sorry' on their lips.....just remember to let them know you love them and will always be there for them but set your boundries...you have to take care of yourself now hon ... and anytime you need a pick-me-up, we will be here :)
Keng: you are so wise :) i will take baby, baby steps ... i think what is bothering me most is that i cant get out to walk until monday afternoon and this cold has really been kicking my bum :( im sorry your yeast infection is back and hope u will be well soon
Heart: no worries :) its that time of year when we all fall off the wagon and monet comes to beat us back on with her broom :) just remember 'baby steps' like Keng said
Diane: congrats on the loss :D i wish i could say the same lol but i have an analog scale so i dont know the exact points that i weigh...and no i have the same question about the fruit juice...sure would be nice to know
i think we're passing the cold around on the board here...everyone go get the clorox and bleach your screens
well i think im going to try to hit the bed...hope everyone has a good night...and i hope i have enough energy today to clean up the kitchen....*sigh* i should just live in the kitchen, seems like im always in there cleaning
Ellen 11-28-2004, 10:42 AM Good morning! I got up about 7:30, and decided I could sleep some more, so I crawled back into the bed for another hour. I already had breakfast and I am on my second cup of coffee. Breakfast was two ww waffles...I just LOVE them! Yum! I also had three strips of bacon, and some real maple syrup...I know..its not legal, but I just had a tad.
Tom has gone off to our old church to hear their special speaker this morning...Steve Brown. I guess I will find a book and crawl into the recliner to read. I am still hoping to see an improvement in the swelling of my lower abdomen, but so far, nothing has helped. I still can't get my regular clothes on, as the swelling hurts pretty bad when something touches it. The doctor suggested a light panty girdle. I may try that.
Its beautiful looking outside...all sunny and clear skies. It was supposed to warm up some from yesterdays bitter temps...I hope so, since I am going to want to go for a walk this afternoon.
Hope everyone is doing ok....will check in later!
Mishi 11-28-2004, 12:05 PM :coffee: Good Morning!
Friday and Saturday I did well with staying on plan. I have shown a bit of a gain on the scale but TOM is approaching and I had that high carb Thanksgiving dinner on Thursday. However, last time I did SB! I showed a gain before any losses started to occur. I'll just do my best and get back on track with exercise starting tomorrow!
Today's Menu:
Pre B: Coffee (love my coffee) w/ non-dairy creamer
Breakfast: 3/4 cup Grape Nut Flakes w/ NF milk and 5 dried apricots, sliced
Lunch: natural peanut butter and sugar free jelly sandwich on WW w/ melon slices on the side
Dinner: steak, big spring mix salad (w/ cucumbers, olives, feta cheese and italian dressing) and cooked shrimp in home-made cocktail sauce for dipping
Water: 1 gallon
Supps: -taken
THE BIG ORANGE BABE 11-28-2004, 02:15 PM ATERNOON EVERY BUDDY!
What a ruff four days!!! My injection went well, but they hit my ulnar nerve
with the IV, and when they took it out, my whole hand was paralized! It then moved into my fingers only, and finally, it was and still is in my "bird" finger! It's better today, and I talked to my Pharmacist about it and she told me that it will eventually go away, but to call my DR tomorrow anyway...I can't explain to you what it felt (feels) like...it's just been a ***** to get things done! Y'all should have seen me cooking on Thursday!
GATOR.... You weren't here for my explanation of the KY - TENN rivalry, so I'll tell you now. It DOESN'T matter who is having a bad year, it never has and it never will...the game is ALWAYS a nail biter, and we like it that way...Actually, I told JACKIE last week...you can't predict it (winner)...it's always a good game...I really didn't think that My GUYS would win with our QB problems, and if they did, it wouldn't be by much....AS FOR THE CHAMPIONSHIP GAME WITH AUBURN...it will be pityful...we're expecting that to happen...I won't debate this one with you, as it would be pointless...we all know WHAT IS GOING TO HAPPEN!!!
KEN....sorry about your infection, my Niece is going thru the exact same thing.
I'll tell you what I told her...you can take all the pills your want to, but until your HUSBAND takes a round of antibiotics, y'all will KEEP passing it back and forth between you. He may not have any symptoms at all, but you need to talk to your GYN about giving him something to take. Feel better!
Alison...I can personally understand the frustration with the smoking...you can ask the old timers here....I quit for 18mo and out of the blue, starting again and havn't been able to stop yet...So, we can be the "outcast" until we stop...people can tell you how nasty it is all they want, but until WE'RE ready to stop, it's all words!
MONET...sorry to hear that you're still puny....give that girdle a whirl...it just might help...
HI  everyone else...got to fly....
BOB
