anyone tried a fat monitor??

has anyone tried a body fat monitor/analyzer? some are built into scales but some are just handheld. an electric current goes through your body and reads the fat %. also does your BMI.

could this thing actually be real, and reliable?

i heard that it doesn't read women as well as it reads men, so if you've tried this, please mention your sex too.

I use one made by Omiron (?) to test new clients at the gym where I work. It is not as accurate on women because it measures fat in breast tissue, where most of us would like to have some :lol: . I find that when I use it, the reading is 3-4% higher than when I do a 9-site caliper test on the same person. I guess it's accurate, but depending in the size of your breasts, the number would be higher or lower. The Tanita body fat scales are notoriously inaccurate. The fancy one we have at the gym put me 12% higher than when my trainer did the 9 site caliper test on me. Again, it measures ALL fat, but my boobs sure aren't that big. :o
