OH NO... I just heard from my doctor..... She got the results to my blood tests....
Contrary to Barb who is trying so hard to get pregnant.... I on the other hand am a 53 year old GRANDMA. I am extremely obese... I can hardly walk.
Well ... the doctor said that blood tests shows that I am PREGNANT !!!! :yikes:
This would be great if I were young and thin... but not now... I am a grandma.
I can hardly believe it... I have not told my husband yet. :^:

APRIL FOOLS !!!
I know all of the old timers knew better...
I did this same line 2 years ago today. LOL

I wanted to post my little story I wrote last year... but could not find it.
I could not believe no one had posted yet today.
I was not going to do it and let someone else do the first April Fools joke... but you guys slept in too late.

Have a great day ... I just did.

Hello Girls. I have been going to the doctor every two weeks. She ended up giggling at me because I was going to weigh. No other scale will weigh me due to my size. She laughed at me and told me I was welcome to come down once a week, and that I didn’t have to pay just to weigh. So now I am seeing her once a month instead and plan to go every Monday to weigh. I thought it was funny.

I’ve lost a total of 21 pounds since March 7th! Pretty pleased with that.

2Cute: LOL Good one. I was so shocked I didn’t scroll down until after I finished stuttering.

Miss: I LOVE Salad. You should try homemade salad. They are never as good at fast food restaurants like MacDonald’s. I’ll give you my favorite salad recipe by prep.

Shredded:
I shred these things so you can eat them in a salad. Generally it’s tough to eat them in a salad unless you shred them. Even sliced these things are tricky and tend to settle at the bottom so you don’t actually get much out of them.

Carrots
Radish
Turnip
Mushroom (I like mushroom shredded because you only get a little bit of the flavor at one time, a whole slice of mushroom can be yucky)

Chopped or sliced:
Cucumber
Lettuce (salads with the lettuce being the only leafy vegetable aren’t worth much. Lettuce has almost no real nutritional value. All you get from it is liquid.)
Fresh Spinach (unless you get baby spinach and then you just toss it in)
Bell Pepper
Egg (for protein, and you can also shred this as well. It’s good either way)
Red Cabbage (this can actually be shredded too but it’s just as easy to slice it)
Tomato

And then you just toss in some bean sprouts.

The cool thing about this is if you cant eat salads without dressing you can add fruit instead of dressing. Fresh Pineapple is best. It adds a great tart sweet flavor without adding a lot of fat. Oranges or strawberries can also make it good. You can also change up the recipe. Put in just the baby spinach, chunk chop some avocado and add granny smith or golden delicious apples squirt lime juice over the top…and you have an apple avocado salad. If you like spicy food, chopped jalapeño can also be a substitute for dressing.

Barb: You are one tough lady. If it hurts, or gets frustrating, or you feel like giving up just think about it like child birth. You’ll forget it all the minute your kid gets here. Good luck, God Bless.

I meant to get everyone. I am sorry I didn’t. I am running a garage sale and it’s 7:30. I have to get outside.

I hope you girls are all doing great. Thank you all for your support and great stories. Enjoy April Fools!

Big Hugs,
Blue

Nice ideas about salad, there Blue! I just wanted to add my two cents...there are lots of decent low fat salad dressings out there....lots of people just can't eat them without dressing, so don't miss out on how good salads are for you because dressing is high cal. Moderation is always the key. Also, salsa is a great dressing too...no points either! BTW, congrats on the 21 lbs...AWESOME!

Meliss...Re: Yoga. I'm certainly not able to do all the Yoga moves perfectly, (very few can, though!) But you just do the best that you can. I've seen all sizes and ages in the classes I've taken. At some point I just had to decide what's more important? Participating in something that I enjoy AND is good for me ~or~ staying away because I think I'm too fat. So much of this struggle has to do with attitude. I'm learning that I'm certainly entitled to join in things not normally associated with FAT people!

I've got to get moving...lots to do today.

Hubby is coming home tomorrow!! :cp:

Hi Gals!!!
I hope you are all having a good day. Mine has been rather nutty. It started with getting to work this morning and my desk being gone - No, it wasn't an April Fools joke. My company is very interesting - we have a "campus" of about 6 buildings. No one has an office, no cubbies, all the furniture (desks, file cabinets, bookshelves) are on wheels. All the network and electric cables drop down from pythons in the ceiling. The president creative this open environment to promote teamwork, everything is portable so that moves are easy and everyone can move themselves. So, today we were scheduled to move. I got to the office at 8:30 thinking I'd get some work done and then move. I walked over to my spot and someone had already pushed all my stuff aside. It was rather frustrating. Then I had a co-worker in all day that I had to work with. Then meetings and what not. Now I am just taking care of a few things before getting ready for Survivor night! :)

Yoga went well last night. I had no idea what to expect from it. What I found was a group of 10-15 men and women of all sizes and ages. One lady befriended me and helped me feel more comfortable. The instructor was amazing. The most soothing, relaxing person I think I have ever met. He warmly welcomed me and made me feel comfortable. Was I able to do everthing? NO WAY! I tried though. I have a few sore muscles today. He did a lot of things that involved sitting on your knees - what an uncomfortable position. But, I did it, enjoyed it, and I'll do it again! I also picked up a couple yoga tapes at Target.

Jennifer - WELCOME!!! Congratulations on your loss thus far!! You seem to have a positive attitude!!! I hope you will join us often for support and friendship! This is the best bunch of women I have ever met! :D

Terri - Yikes - yesterday sounded like a long day! I hope today was better and you weren't up so early!

Mellisa - I hope you had a good day at work. Sounds like you've been busy.

2cute - MEAN, MEAN, MEAN!!!! :nono: :nono: But very funny! You had me for a minute!!

Blue - That's very nice of your Doc letting you come in to weigh! It's great that you have such a supportive Doc. Congratulations on your loss!!! Thanks for the salad ideas. THANK YOU for the kind words about my baby mission! :bb: Actually my brother is calling it our "Little Project". We were on the phone yesterday and he said, "so how is your little project" going on?" I just found it amusing! :)

Kat - I agree, I can't eat salad without dressing, but luckily there are some good low-fat ones out there no! I hope all is well with you!

HAPPY BIRTHDAY MELISSA!!!

Thanks for the congrats Kat!

WOW Right on Barb! Yoga is definitely cool. I’ve wanted to try it but I live in a tiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiinny town. No yoga instructors here. I think I’ll stick to the simple stuff and move on to yoga when I am in a place where I can have an actual instructor. Anyway, congrats! Glad you enjoyed it.

Paper Doll: I really wouldn’t recommend Tae Boe to anyone who is overweight. I found I couldn’t do it very long without risking sore muscles and I do not work out if my muscles are sore. I was listening to a trainer talk, he was great, really straight forward. He said that there is no use in the ~no pain no gain~ philosophy, think about it more like, ~muscle pain means no train~. I agree. I focus on workouts that will simply keep me loosing weight. I like Richard Simmons. It is simple and it is easy to gauge how much you are doing, and how much is too much. Sweating to the Oldies is my favorite. Disco Sweat is ok. I can do the whole thing but it’s really not very fun as far as I am concerned. I also like belly dancing for fun and fitness, though it isn’t my most practical exercise. Most of the time I walk. I also find just getting out of the house and doing extra cleaning, arranging, and the such is good exercise. We’ve been cleaning out our garage. I am dragging my mom tooth and nail into the de-clutter stage of our transformation. It’s definitely been a work out.

:hb:HAPPY BIRTHDAY MISS & DUCKIE:hb:

Hi ladies!

I'm going to sneak in a post here while DH is making dinner and I'm sitting on the couch waiting for Survivor. Then The Apprentice.

DH and I moved the refrig out tonight and did some cleaning. Then we drug the airdyne stationary bike upstairs. Its for him to use to exercise. Now he can't use the excuse that its too hard to negotiate the stairs. :D

Tomorrow I go to the foot doc to see how my foot is healing. I am Sooo ready for this thing to come off.

I've requested the second Stephanie Plum book from the library! Right now I'm reading What Looks Like Crazy on an Ordinary Day. Really good.

:hb: Happy Birthday Duckie and Meliss!

Barb - Good job on the yoga. I have an old tape that I drag out now and then and it feels so good. That's funny about how your desks are set up.

Blue - I ditto the thanks on the salad ideas. Great ideas for my lunch next week! I may have to try the ideas about the fruit instead of dressing. Although, I usually require dressing. :bravo: on your loss!!

Pat - :bravo: for your loss as well! Good job in spite of a tough week. I have had tae bo tapes for several years and love them. I think it depends on how strong your legs and knees are. I have been biking for a number of years and have a lot leg muscle which helps with the endurance and avoiding injury. I personally love the arm moves because it works the kinks out of the back. I wouldn't recommend it as a beginning exercise though.

2Cute - Now the real joke would be if you found out your were. Did you see American Idol this week? I can't believe that redheaded John is still around. Although he's only a kid so I'd feel sorry for him if he got voted off.

Hello to everyone else! Have a great evening! Time for din-din!

Hey everyone

I've been going through massive emotional upheavals in my private life. I desperately need to share them with someone, but I'm not quite ready to be that open yet. Last night it was so bad that I spent at least 4 hours sobbing and finally managed to fall asleep for a whopping hour and a half. Today it all came about, but I still feel so drained.

The good side of all this is that I am still OP. Sometimes staying OP is the easiest when things are insane around me. It is like sticking to a plan gives me some measure of direct control, and I find myself hanging on for dear life. I also hopped on the scales this morning at Curves and am down 4 lbs. from Tuesday. :)

I went in to the specialist today and got my breast biopsy appointment scheduled. It will be the 12th. The nurse writing all my info down goes to Curves with me, and she was so sweet to tell me that I've lost 22 lbs. since my last visit to this doctor. And... someone start a drum roll for me, please?! You know the blood pressure cuffs? Well, for the first time in at least 9 years, the regular size fit me! She knew that was a huge accomplishment for me and we both did a high five. :D

I'm still way behind on reading posts and have 3 articles to work on writing tonight. I'll try to get back to doing replies soon!

Hello again!

Andria - I'm sorry to hear that you're going through a difficult time. Feel free to share if and when you're ready. You know we care and are here to help. I must have missed that you needed to have a biopsy. You'll be in my prayers. Get some rest. Good job on making those improvements in your health; its always feels great to see those kinds of rewards. :grouphug:

And a :grouphug: to you too, Barb.g. I'm sorry to see that you're still not feeling well. Take care of yourself and don't try to do too much until you're feeling stronger.

I've missed the first 15 minutes of CSI so have no clue what's going on. I'm taping the Trump show to watch tomorrow.

 What's going on ladies? I have missed at least 6 complete threads, so I am way behind.

Getting ready for my classes, having them for 6 days, getting home and catching up - I'm definitely out of touch.

I have been off plan, and Blue, bless her is the only thing keeping me on excersise plan (I can't spell it, but Ican do it).

It really makes a difference - sharing the struggle together. I am so glad that you are all here and have welcomed me.

So - back on plan and on I go.

If I have a chance I will read the threads I missed and keep up with the new ones.

53 and preganant     wonderfull April fools, you really had me going there!

I'll be bahck

Hi All! Just call me dumpy! :(

I am so down in the dumps about weightloss, it's not even funny. My WW season pass ends on April 10th and I think I am going to end with it. I have been paying for WW since May 1998. I am still down about 30 pounds from my top weight, but until I can be willing to do what it takes to slim down, all the WW meetings on the planet will not assist me.

Some people use weigh in as an incentive, but it's gotten so that I don't care if the scale shows a gain or not. So that's not even working for me. I know the plan, backwards and forwards, but until I am willing to follow the plan, it isn't going to make any difference so why spend even more money. I used to say that sitting in that seat every Monday morning kept me from gaining it all back, well, that may be true, but it isn't making me lose any more either.

Weight Watchers Works!!! I know it works! I'm just not working it right now!

I'll be back later when I can be more positive. Thanks for letting me dump here.

Good Morning Girlies! YAY!! It's Friday. It's a yucky, rainy day here -- is the sun ever going to shine again???? :sunny:

I just got back from acupuncture. I went 3 times this week (yes, my bank account says "OUCH"!!). It's difficult to understand how laying on a table for an hour with needles in you helps, but I have felt better emotionally this week than I have felt in a really long time!!! I haven't felt irritated at hubby, I haven't cried at all, I didn't even lose my patience with the work fiasco yesterday morning! So, I am sold so far on this treatment. We'll see if it continues to help when I start the major fertility drugs a week from today! :)

Pat - WOW! Somehow last night I didn't see your 6 pound loss! CONGRATS!
:strong: :spin: :strong: :spin:

Blue - Since my gym only has yoga 2x a week I also picked up the Yoga for Dummies tape. I haven't tried it yet, but I'll let you know....

Terri - I hope you get a good report from the Dr. today!!! I have to say American Idol just hasn't grabbed my attention the past couple weeks. I have it on, but am not glued to it. I was bummed that Amy was kicked off this week.

Andria - I am sorry to hear that you are going through a difficult time. Whenever you are ready to talk you know you have a lot of willing listeners and shoulders to cry on here! My thoughts and prayers go out to you for you upcoming biopsy. Stay strong!

Barb.g - Hello! I am glad you took a moment to check in even though you do not feel well. I hope you perk up soon!

Judy - Welcome back!!!

Thin - Big Hugs to you!!! :grouphug:

Linus - WELCOME!!! It's great to have you here! Great job quitting Coke and Congrats on your loss so far!!!

That's it for me for now, I need to work....I am going to yoga again tonight - let's see what torturous positions I can put my body in!

Have a great day!!

don't have time to read or really reply, but I just wanted 2Cutte to know I was really mad at her!!!

I woke up this morning crying because I was dreaming I was having another baby (yes, I'm a grandmother too!) and they had given me this big shower, but I didn't get any of the basic things, like car seats, high chairs, etc, cause after allthis wasn't my 1st baby. So then I was going to get them from my sister whose kids are much younger than mine, and she had sold them in a garage sale!!!

What a Dream!!!and it was 2Cutes's fault for that April Fool joke she played on all of us gulible ones!

There are so many replies that I'd like to make, but as usual, NO TIME. Turns out, my FILs surgery was cancelled again, rescheduled for next Friday. Now, Dh wants us ALL to out next weekend. Friday to Monday. To California. I realize that he's thinking that this may be the last time we are all together with his family, so what can I say? It turns out that we are all off that weekend, kids are both off Friday and Monday...somehow, it seems like it was just meant to be.

I can't imagine how much these tickets will cost. IF we can even get any at this late date.

ANYWAY...like I said, there are so many replies that I'd love to make...and hopefully can make later...but right now, I just had to say to THIN, who is always there for every single one of us, whether it's with her detailed replies, (for which she takes notes so she can remember everything!) or the lovely cards that she'll send at just the right time, or with her skill as our fearless moderator...I really hate to see you down! You are one of those people with such powerful presence, that when you're not "on your game," it somehow tilts the balance for the rest of us! Not trying to lay a guilt trip on you, dear....but whatever it takes, let's get you UP and MOTIVATED and back on track!! LET'S ALL DO THE SAME!! Come on!! If you've been slacking on exercise, get out there and take a walk! If your eating hasn't been the greatest, get on over to the salad bar! Fill up that water jug! And go look in the mirror and tell yourself that I'm doing this, not only for myself, but for THIN, and for all the rest of my 3fc cronies!! Come on!!! We can do this!!!!!
:cheer: :cheer: :cheer: :cheer:

Now, let's MOVE, MOVE, MOVE!!!!

:drill: :drill: :drill: :drill:

Hey everyone. Well, I just got the nicest PM from Thin welcoming me to the group. ((Thin)) Sorry to see you struggling right now. What can we do to help with the mindset & motivation? I've failed in the past because my head wasn't in it, and the body followed suit, and believe me, this is the hardest thing I've had to do so far. I give everyone here a heck of a lot of credit, just for fighting the good fight every day.

Good news- I didn't get stuck with Jury duty- called in & was lucky enough that they didn't need anyone today, so I'm clear for the next year, at least :D

Better news- the 2.2 pounds that showed up for no good reason right before the end of the month disappeared just as quickly as they showed up. Grrr. Thanks to them I couldn't claim 20 pounds for the month of March. At least I have a head start & 2 pounds down for April.

I've got to get caught up on everything happening around here- I'll catch on soon- I promise! Have a great weekend, ladies!

Starting over with my post. :censored:

Here's the abbreviated version:

Foot doc - Can start phasing out of the aircast. Must wear walking shoes. Can walk dog wearing the cast. Can't go barefoot or do aerobics. Can do stationary bike. Need to relearn how to walk. Happy!

Now to the replies:

Kat - Thanks for the word of encouragement. It is true that when one or more are having trouble being focused, others tend to follow. Not that its anyone's fault - just that we kind of become co-dependents. Sometimes, I feel bad posting that I'm doing well because I don't anyone to think I'm bragging while others are having a hard time. I think we needed your words of encouragement or more like orders to get back on track!

Thin - Sorry you're having trouble with your focus. Definitely been there before and have felt that way about WW many times. I've thought about it recently but am too afraid to quit totally. But you do have to find what you're willing to do and what you're willing to totally commit to. Maybe WW isn't the right thing for you now - maybe Curves can help. Just don't QUIT!

I need to run for now. See ya!

Hi girls! Thanks for everyone's thoughts. I'll figure this out.....eventually. Just can't see putting anymore money into it since I KNOW exactly what to do, I just need to DO IT!!! :(

I have a nice day planned for honey and I tomorrow. First I need to be a "showgirl". Then a trip to Costco is in order. Then as evening approaches, I made reservations at a local steakhouse that is offering dinner theatre. Then I have a hotel job for tomorrow night. We really need a good night away, so I thought this was a nice opportunity. Gotta pamper the boy since I'm going away on my own in a few weeks. ;)

For any of you that don't spend enough time on the dang computer now as it is, Suzanne has installed a FREE arcade area. So, here is the link to FREE games: http://www.3fatchicks.com/forum/arcade.php

Hope you all have a wonderful weekend. I love  ya bunches.

Good Morning Ladies!
I hope everyone's Saturday if off to a good start! I just finished watching a couple episodes of 24. Now I am getting ready and DH and I are going to Costco and then to a friend's house - she's having an Open House Tupperware party. Later today I am thinking about painting some woodwork - but I am not really motivated enough to do so. I've been really tired and had a horrible headache the past couple days.

Well, last night I went to yoga again - different instructor. All I can say is... I TRIED!!! And, I don't think I'll be going back to that class. I spent nearly the entire class just praying it would end!!! I think I may stick with the videos I bought for a while. I am by no means discouraging anyone from trying it --- actually I encourage you all to try new classes. The one on Wed. night was challenging, but I loved the instructor --- I will take his class again. The one last night was not at all relaxing it was more stressful and painful! I modified many of the moves, which was fine. I wasn't embarrassed at all, just didn't enjoy it.

That was enough of a ramble for me....DH just walked in the room and wants to get ready to go!

I'll talk to you wonderful ladies later on!

Love Ya!

Has anyone missed me. :?:
I am really really swamped right now. Nowhere near as many of you here... but too busy for me to keep up. LOL
My main problem is PROCRASTINATION. I procrastinate until I can't any longer and then I work non-stop trying to catch up. Well... it is catching up to me faster than I am catching up on what needs to be done.

My brother and his wife and two of his 5 kids are coming for a visit.
I do not have a thing in this house to eat. I just get sooooooo mad at myself for procrastinating so much.

Anyway... the reason I am taking a minute to post is to let you know I will be missing until Sunday night probably.. and since I haven't been posting much already.. I didn't want anyone to think I was AWOL. My computer is in the guest room so I won't have much access to it.

I apologize for not repling again... but I have not even read lately either.
I will have a lot of catching up to do.
Love you guys.... keep the ship afloat while I am gone.

Hey ladies!!
I haven't been around in a couple of days because I've been away (for my birthday). Although the trip went sort of bust because we kept getting lost. We drove down to NYC yesterday morning (super early)..and what should have taken four hours ended up taking more than six!!! So we didn't even catch the train into the city until 12:39, which meant we didn't get to grand central until almost 1:30.

Ok I need some reassurance because I feel out of control...both yesterday and the day before that was HORRIBLE FOR FOOD. Thursday night we had a big turkey dinner and I ate so much I felt like I was going to burst at the seams. I even had a piece of cake, and I don't even really LIKE cake. Then yesterday I ate TWO MEALS at McDonald's on the go..and I had hamburger. I also had a brownie and a YooHoo at the Museum of Natural History. Will someone tell me that I didn't do too bad?? After introducing all that junk back for the day, I feel like I want to go out on an eating binge. I'm worried because I keep getting urges to eat when i'm not hungry, and I had been over those urges for weeks!!!

Kat, Thin, Terri, Barb, Blue, Paperdoll...and everyone else who wished me happy birthday...yay!! Thank you :) It's nice when people remember it. My best friends in the world (from college and high school, my random jobs in the City) all remembered which pleased me. I got so many e-mails and Instant messgeas yesterday and the day before :p. We all have an understanding, I don't need presents, just a simple Happy Birthday or card will always do. :)

2Cute: I wasn't here to miss you!!! :p But I just read your post and you actually had me fooled..it didnt even occur to me that it could have been a joke. Actually the first thing I thought was: "wow she's taking it well..I wonder if she's keeping it?"

Blue: You know I'm such a dork, I think the opposite...to me food always tastes better if I am not the one preparing it!!...I've never had raw turnip before...is it really good? Thanks for the recipes though I'm going to have to try them out..especially the turnip idea, and the shredded mushroom one..I usually eat them sliced :) Oh, and congratulations on the weight loss, girl. It's so cool that you have a doctor you can trust, many of us dont have that. I certainly dont have a doctor who would let me come in and get weighed..I too am too fat for my bathroom scale :( STILL. The day that scale reads my weight I'm going to celebrate.

Paperdoll: I'm with Blue on the tae bo thing. I've done it before, and I've actually injured myself doing it. You have to be careful about the repetative extensions that you do with your arms and legs because you could easily pull or strain something. I ended up hurting my leg doing something like tae bo, and let me tell you..nerve injuries take a long time to heal so I am still learning this painful lesson months later.

Andria: The best thing about this community is the anonymity and I know you will get so much advice and support if you wanted to share your problems with anyone. I myself am having horrible problems dealing with a recent breakup with someone who is also my best friend in the entire world. What made me proud of myself though, was that instead of turning to food for comfort, I've been doing what you're doing..staying on program and counting every morsal I put into my mouth (accept for Thursday and Friday of this week...GAH!) We're here to help you get through this :)

Thin: I've seen you get like that before...what we all need to remember is that this isn't a phase, and it's something we all need to do, and face for the rest of our lives...so it has to be livable. I don't think there is such a thing as a diet that doesn't take you back a step for every two that you gain. But don't give up completely. Don't give yourself a reason to chastize yourself. Formally going off of weight watcher's sounds like more than a step backward and I think you will regret it when you realize that you're throwing in the towel on all the hard work you are still doing. You are still 30 pounds down....please reaffirm yourself while you are still ahead.

Kirsty: Yay!! I was always hoping we could get someone from the UK to join us. My boyfriend (er, ex boyfriend now i guess, we're on a 'break' :() is from Newcastle...not THAT far from you...by US standards anyways :p

Anyways, I THINK I got everyone...gah..what a day this ...I need to stay away from that fridge, I just opened up all my old habits yesterday, and I think this is the point where all my old diets would fail because i'd keep up the bad habits. I'll keep you guys updated on what I do.

Today was a lazy day. Worked hard this morning, DH worked at the fiberglass plant all day, so when we quit at 2:00 I took him some lunch, the called my mom and we went "shopping" There is this one store that is a plus size outlet. It is really a close-out/overruns type store too. We can sometime find real bargans, sometime not. Today I got 2 WeBeBop long tunic shirts for fall/winter for 5.00 a piece. It's a standard joke at our house that I go shopping and put things in the closet and take them out later so I can say they are not new

Anyway that's the highlights of my weekend. Hope everyone else has a great one.
