This is not a scam, just a funny product! Saw it on "Fox News" (serious journalism   ) this morning. It's a plastic blob of simulated body fat, in 3 different sizes, that you carry around with you, to remind you of what a pound (or half-pound, whatever) of fat looks like!

Could be motivating...have one hanging out of the bread bin, lurking in your handbag, or peeking around the cookie jar

No idea what the price is; if it's ridiculously expensive for a piece of plastic, then I guess it DOES belong here as a scam

How... unique

Ok, I had to do a search and found it at www.mypetfat.com It is rediculously expensive, but I actually think it is the going rate for fake fat! $99 for a 5 pound slab which looks huge in the photo! Gee, imagine carrying 20 of those around... I had tried to find a photo of fake fat recently, when someone had requested it. All I could find were medical study supply websites that sold it, but none had photos. However, I was shocked at the high cost of the items, so the $99 price tag on the 5 lb pet fat doesn't really surprise me.

However, I'm a cheapskate and if I want to visualize 5 lbs of fat, I'd probably go to the supermarket and buy 5 lbs of margarine, knead it together and wrap it in plastic wrap :)

Good gravy and people I suppose really buy the stuff! YIKES, how dumb can you get? Besides, it probably only costs about a buck to make one of these things. If I were desperate to see it, I would go to the store and buy plain ole cubes of wax, melt them down, add some food coloring to make it tannish color, as it cools mold it into a glob and let it cool. It probably resembles fat fairly closely actually! I don't have to know what 5 lbs looks like, I still have 150 of it on my body to get off so I can just look down!

:yikes: $99!!! Whoa! You have the right idea for a substitute, Suzanne and gma2one! (and that five pound slab is scary)

I didn't realize that there was a whole...philosophy that goes with the sale of the blobs. But as "Jay" says, different things work for different people!

I really like the pic that's here somewhere comparing the pound of muscle vs. the pound of fat.

I saw the heading on this and thought you were referring to my cat Chubby Girl (aka Megan). She's like a grey colored, tabby bowling ball (of course our other cat, Chalupa del Fuego, is a lean mean running machine...go figure...must be hormones. )
