thinthinker 02-29-2004, 12:25 PM Morning, ladies! Nothing much to write this morning that I didn't write late last night. Just thought I would come in and see what was going on and saw we needed a new thread. Three days to complete 30 posts must be our record for the slowest thread in history. Sheeesh. Let's see if we can pick up the pace a bit.
We have no real exciting plans for the day. Honey and I are going to take down the Christmas lights....finally. We've been buried in snow up until a couple of days ago. Not that we got snow so often, but when we did it got so cold that it wouldn't go away. Now we can finally set a ladder up in the flower bed to get them off the eaves.
We're also thinking about getting some digital pictures taken so I can jump into selling some stuff on eBay. I've been researching the different things that I have to see what IS selling and what ISN'T. Some are quite surprising.
Anyway, I'll check in a bit later and see how you all are doing. If you guys haven't seen the movie Rules of Engagement, it is a very good drama and it's on network TV tonight, if you care. :)
See you all later. Love  ya bunches!
katrinabgood 02-29-2004, 12:29 PM Let's see if I can sneak in here before Miss Thin...she's probably composing one of her famous mega posts...I have time!
Happy Sunday, all! It's a bee-yoo-ti-ful day here! Supposed to get up into the 50s! :cp: Son and I are taking a ride down to see Mom and Dad today. He's doing very well, by the way. He started radiation treatments last week. He's eating regular food now. (was on pureed food for a long time, ugh) My sister pointed out to me that it's been 2 months to the day, since his surgery. Seems like a lifetime. If I haven't said it lately, thank you all again for your prayers. I know they helped!
Okay, I'm out of here...I know there were a few responses I wanted to make, but I have to get ready for church...
katrinabgood 02-29-2004, 12:43 PM I was too late! She beat me!
DonnaD 02-29-2004, 01:37 PM Kat, I don't post here usually, but I am notorious for lurking. Kinda of an ugly word.
Anyway, I read your post and just wanted to say I am glad your dad is doing better.
I'm glad your family is close enough to visit. My folks are both gone and my sisters live far away.
Anyway, I'm enjoying the beautiful weather you speak of. From NY(westchester co.)
Used to spend alot of time at the Jersey shore when my kids were small. It's been too long.
Well, nice to meet you.
Take care, enjoy your day and your visit.
DonnaD :D
thinthinker 02-29-2004, 02:19 PM See, told you I'd be back! ;)
Mary: So glad you're feeling better. What are you up to today??
Katrina: You've gotta get up pretty early to beat this "old" girl. You know us AARP candidates, we're quick, very quick!! I'm so glad your dad is doing well. He's been through alot and has alot more to go, but it's good to know that he is progressing well. More prayers coming your way.
Barb: BTW, how is YOUR dad doing? I hope he's doing as well at Kat's and seeing some real progress.
DonnD: I'm glad you came out of hiding. Welcome! We'd love to have you join us on a permanent basis. We love having new people stop in.
Anyway, I'm off to try and do the things I told you I was going to do in my last post! :( Yes, you're right. I haven't done any of them. BUT.... I have done a load of laundry and made breakfast for the masses. Does that count???
See ya later.
qsilver 02-29-2004, 02:57 PM Hey everyone :)
Just popping in for a few minutes. I brought work home with me for the weekend, and I haven't touched it yet. Thought I'd better dig in before it is time to head off to church. I'm always happier once I get a project started. :) Of course, reading in here and leaving a little post is much, much more fun that doing my work...
DonnaD, how sweet and thoughtful of you to leave a post for Kat. Feel free to drop in any time!
Kat, so glad to hear your dad is doing well!
Thin, I'm thinking no one would look at you funny if those Christmas lights stayed up until all potential threat of frost or even a stiff breeze were past. I have become such a cold wimp since living here, I know I wouldn't! I like the idea of keeping each other motivated at Curves. I managed to get there my three days last week, even if they were three in a row.
I should be leaving more replies, but there was a phone call from a friend in the middle of this, and I'm out of time now! Have great days!
Andria
BarbPA 02-29-2004, 03:01 PM Hi Girlies!
It's such a beautiful day here! Perfect day for walking the dogs! All is well here - finished making the curtain/valance for the master bath. Wanted to hang shelves I got, but they don't fit where I thought they would. Organized my computer area and just finished watching Uptown Girls - cute movie.
Not sure what the rest of the day holds for me.
Kat - I'm so happy to hear that your dad is recovering well. Have a nice visit with your parents.
Thin - Thanks for asking about my dad. He is recovering fairly well. All the meds are having a bad effect on his digestive system, so he is on even more meds and having a colonoscopy (sp?) next week. He's resting a lot and seems a little depressed. Give that this was surgery #25 for him I figure it's taking it's toll on him. So, health wise he's doing ok, emotionally I think he's having a difficult time. I wish I was closer so that I could see hime more often.
Mary - Glad to hear you are feeling better.
Donna - Hi, nice to see you coming out of lurking mode. :D
Heading out for now. Have a great afternoon!
Barb
2cute2Bfat 02-29-2004, 06:57 PM Good Sunday everyone. I have sure missed all of you.
My sister has been here the entire weekend and she just left and I had to come here immediately !!!!
We had a nice visit. Friday we just sat and visited and watched Super Millionaire. We got up early Saturday and drove to Okla City to visit my daughter and visit the National Monument from the Federal Building Bombing.
This afternoon we went to the movies and saw "Twisted". It was a good "who done it" movie. I really like Ashley Judd in those roles.
My sister will be back Tuesday night. She is flying to Houston to see her cancer doctor there. She is scheduled for a lot of tests. The doctor in her home town wants to do surgery and remove her splein. She is getting a second opinion. Then she will be here again next weekend.
Is everyone sitting down ??? If not... sit down. You won't believe what happened to my hubby yesterday.....
He went to the casino in his usual way.... but the usual did not happen.
He first won $1,800.
Then he won $10,000. :yikes:
I am not done...... they came and took his drivers license and social secruity card and such to fill out the income tax paper work... and he won ANOTHER $10,000 on the same machine!!!!! :faint:
He won all of it on one machine... and within 10-15 minutes.
To top that ... he won $2,200 on several seperate machines. :cp: :cp:
CAN YOU BELIEVE THAT ????
When I got home from OKC he showed me the three checks he recieved and I counted the 22 hundred dollar bills. :cb: :cb:
I can't believe it !!!!! But I saw it for myself. :D
I know I should reply to everyones posts.. but I am just too excited to even think that much. LOL I do want to welcome DonnaD to our little group. We love newcomers... please post often.
and I want to apologize to Kat and Barb for not asking about your dad's sooner. You guys were so supportive of me and my parents and I just totally forgot yours. I am glad they are doing well.
I will try to reply to rest later. Right now... I think I am goiing to to go think about how to convience my hubby to want what I want.
BarbPA 02-29-2004, 07:37 PM WOW!!! 2Cute - Am I reading this right.....He won a total of $24,000 today???? OMG!! That is fabulous!!!!
:cb: :cp: :hat:  :dancer:
DonnaD 02-29-2004, 08:45 PM Thanks for the welcome everyone. I am just getting to know everyone by reading posts and sometimes I forget where I've posted. I'm still learning my way around.
I will surely return here. It seems like a warm, welcoming & helpful sites. Though I have encountered so many nice people here at 3fc. Look forward to :blah: again.
DonnaD
Grannie39074 02-29-2004, 09:41 PM HI all. We went to see the Passion of Christ today. we both cried it was so graphic

BarbPA 02-29-2004, 11:32 PM Hi Gals!
Just a super quick stop in to say Goodnight and sweet dreams to all! I am watching the Oscars and getting ready to jump into bed!
Love to all!
:)Barb
thinthinker 03-01-2004, 12:57 AM Just a quickie before bed!
Andria: I'll hold up my end of Curves and you hold up you're end. And when neither of us feel like going, just remember the other is urging us on. WE CAN DO IT!!! I'm counting on it. :D
2cute: OMG, that is whole lotta money!!! CONGRATS!!! My mom went to the casino today in Windsor and when she got home she called to let me know she was back. I asked her if she had a good time and she said "oh yes". Well I can tell by the tone of her voice that meant she won, so I asked her if she did as well as your hubby. Well she didn't do quite THAT well! And being a slot player, her first question was "did he win on the dollar slots? What? You didn't ask? Well find out." So, did he win on the dollar slots? My mother's inquiring mind wants to know.
DonnaD: We're glad to have you join us. We've all been new before so we certainly understand you trying to navigate around here. There is a Bio Thread if you care to post yours, or read all of ours. We'll look forward to you checking in.
Barb: I want to see Twisted. I'm with you, I like Ashley Judd. * Sorry to hear about your dad's depression. But you're right, 25 surgeries is alot for anyone to have to endure and recover from. And here's a BIG [[[[HUG]]]] because I know what you mean about wishing you were closer. My folks were in Florida when my dad started going hokey (Alzheimer's, remember)? Oh crap, can you say remember and Alzheimers in the same sentence? Oops. Anyway, I know how hard it is being so far away and feeling like you just can't help. Being an only child there was no one that I could trade off the traveling with either. Hope the colonoscopy goes well and that he will get some help for the depression.
Pat: Glad you could check in. Computer troubles are the pitts. But it sounds like your biggest trouble would be your knee. My but that must be painful. I hope it is healing well for you.
Mary: I'm glad you and hubby were able to get out. The migraine must be gone. Don't work too hard tomorrow.
Well girls, I have a big day ahead of me, WI (not Wisconsin), and 7 jobs. My SIL is back in the hospital. This time it's a blood clot in her right leg. She'll be in for at least a week. I want to get some flowers up to her. Also, I pulled out one of my crowns tonight so a phone call early in the morning to the dentist is in order. I also need to make the appointment for getting our taxes done. So I definitely have a full day.
See you guys later. Love  to all.
qsilver 03-01-2004, 01:52 AM Hey everyone :)
2cute, how cool is that! I don't even want to think about the odds of winning that much off one machine in a single sitting. :dizzy: Do you already have his winnings spent in your head? I know I would!
Thin, you are on, chick! I already have plans to head to Curves early tomorrow morning. It is my weigh and measure day. I think I'm only down 1-2 lbs. for the month, but you never know with measurements until they get that tape wrapped around you.
BarbPA, you're dad has been through so much. We'll keep him in our prayers, ok? And I keep buying material for curtains and letting it sit and sit until my idea for the room changes and I have to go buy more material that I never make into curtains! Want to come play decorator at my house? Kind of like Trading Spaces without me doing your place... ;)
Pat, a sprained knee sounds painful! Make sure to baby it so you get healed up properly.
Mary, not sure I'm going to be seeing Passion... every description I've heard is graphic, graphic and graphic beyond belief. Glad your migraine eased up.
I'd better get headed to bed here. I am not ready for tomorrow to be Monday!
Andria
P.S. Painful as it was, I logged all my food the last 3 days. Can't control what I can't see. Journaling helps me to own up to the reality of what I am eating or not.
Ok, now I am really heading to bed, I promise!
qsilver 03-01-2004, 01:56 AM Ok, I'm back!
Just couldn't stay away after reading the latest bio posted. Kantsing loves Robert Jordan and has loved Tolkien since junior high?!!! I've got to get to know this chick! Post, post, post, pretty please!
Andria
2cute2Bfat 03-01-2004, 02:05 AM Hi guys.... I too watched most of the Oscars. I fell asleep before it was over... I found a lot of it boring early on. But my daughter called and woke me up before the biggies were announced. I was never soooo sick of hearing about "Lord of the Rings".
Thin... you can tell your mom that he did win on dollar slots.
He had been betting $2 for some time and decided to bet $3. His second $3 bet started the whole process. :D
I actually usually hate those darn machines. I think my husband gambles too much ... but he also plays the nickel machines a lot too. When he wins $100 or more he goes up to dollar machines. When he loses he goes down to nickels. LOL
I have NEVER spent a dime of his winnings. It is really really hard keeping my little fingers off of this much money. LOL. I know he would let me spend every penny if I asked... but I am going to try hard to keep me out of his decision. As of right now... MOST of it is going into the bank. Some is going back to the casinos.
Pat... the first thing my husband asked me was.... " Will $22,000 help pay for that wedding?" LOL
Barb... yes... your amounts were correct. Nearly $22,000 in checks and over $2,200 in cash.
My suggestions were new furniture, new garage for hubby, an Alaskan Cruise.
Hubbys thought was a VET. and I am not talking about a veterinarian. LOL He first suggested a MOTORCYCLE ... but I put a BIG NO to that. LOL.
We are soooo boring... we will probably pay bills with it...... NOT !!!!! LOL
okay... gotta go. Tomorrow I will back into the Real World and will be able to talk about something other than WINNING !!!!
Terri in MO 03-01-2004, 08:59 AM
2Cute - Wow, that is great about your DH. I will NOT tell DH because he will want to spend his time in the casino when we're there in April. He lived in Las Vegas for over 20 years and was a gambler. He doesn't comprehend going to the casino with $40 which is what my accountant brain can handle.
Mary - I cried too during the movie. We want to see it again.
Barb & Kat - :grouphug: and prayers for your dad's.
Pat - Take care of that knee. Maybe we can do couch time together - encourage each other to lay up! I've got five more weeks of keeping off my foot.
Andria & Thin - :drill: You know Curves makes a difference at the scale. Now, make it a priority!! :cheer:
Hello to everyone else!!! I've got to get off of here and go to work. Have a great OP Monday!
katrinabgood 03-01-2004, 10:46 AM Hi chickies!
As usual, I'm on my way out, but I had to stop in for a few minutes...
First of all...Welcome Donna! And thank you for your kind words. Whereabouts on the Jersey shore did you go? Yes, I'm nosy. I'm not far from Sandy Hook, but usually drive further south to go to the beach. Come visit often, someone's always here!
I just re-read that...I meant the thread, but you could come to the shore too!
Hey! I was thrilled that Lord of the Rings won all that they did! It was a monumental effort and a beautifully executed story...They certainly deserved everything they won! Especially Peter Jackson, but GEEZ! Could he have at least combed his hair? Tucked in his shirt? Good grief.
Food is going well...I'm going out walking later, it's another gorgeous day here!
THINK SPRING!
qsilver 03-01-2004, 03:02 PM Hey everyone :)
I did Curves this morning! I was right. Down 1 lb. for the month and 3 inches. Got in 11 visits last month, which isn't bad considering the mess starting the latest of new jobs and a trip to Texas in the middle of the month. I've only missed my 3 times a week goal twice since the start of the year, and even though it can be slow, the progress is still showing.
Did I tell you guys about having to go out and buy new pants the other day? I was so bummed, because the inseam of one of my most comfy pair of pants just gave way in the washing machine. The material was worn too thin for repairing, and almost too thin for decency. :o I had been putting off any clothes buying because I just didn't want another item in a 3 or 4X. Well, since KMart is close to work, I dropped in there. I mean, there was no getting around it. A lot of my clothes weren't qualified for the rag bag any longer. I tried on a couple of items that didn't fit, but when I got to the same brand of pants I normally pick up, the size smaller fit. And they were on clearance! So, I got two pairs of pants that are a size smaller and cost $4 apiece. Wahoo! Next goal is to be able to buy pants that aren't in super stretchy knit. My belly is just too big to fit into anything else, even if they do fit over my thighs and butt.
So, in keeping with the next new goal of fitting into the same size but without it being a knit material, I'd better get working a little harder! It is gorgeous outside. After a week of solid rain here, we finally have some sunshine. I'm headed out for a walk. :) Thanks for the inspiration, Kat!
Terri, you are right. I need to keep my priorities straight! Have I mentioned how impressed I am with your refusal to take a broken foot and use it as an excuse to regain all sorts of weight? I have used injuries as an excuse time and time again. Your attitude is mighty impressive, chick :)
2cute, oooh, a Vette would look good... there is a Corvette/Corvair (think I got that right?) group that drives through here every year. Miles of sexy steel driving down the road. Not as nice as a vintage Mustang, but not bad either. ;)
Ok, I'd better get out for that walk before the weather changes again. As much as we desperately needed the water, it is nice to see the sun again.
Andria
BarbPA 03-01-2004, 03:09 PM Howdy Gang!
I hope everyone is having a wonderful Monday. :sunny: All is well here - just pluggin' along at work. Had lunch with a couple friends. Wasn't quite warm enough to eat outside but at least we are getting warmer weather. I am so ready for warm, sunny, spring days! :flow1:
Donna - WELCOME again! Please do join us as often as you like. There is usually someone lurking around to chat with. I manage to check in a couple times a day and love to see people posting. It gives me continuous support all day long!
Pat - Welcome Back! Great to see you getting in here posting. Thanks for the good luck wishes! :bb:
Thin - Thanks for the hug! :) I needed it! ~ Can't remember who saw Twister - it wasn't me. ~ You also gave me a pretty good laugh.....Oh crap, can you say remember and Alzheimers in the same sentence? I know how hard it is to deal with Alzheimers - been there with my Grandma, but still couldn't help getting a chuckle out of it!
Andria - I'd love to come decorate with you! :D However, I still have 1/2 my house left to do! Not to mention the commute might be a litte rough!
2Cute - Alaskan Cruise??? Can I come? He won enough to cover both of us! ;) You know I love to cruise!
Kantsing - I saw your bio posted! Jump on in here anytime you are ready so we can get to know you. :)
(Reminder to self --- still haven't re-posted my bio since the crash we had)
Ok, gotta get back to work! Hi to everyone
Barb
Grannie39074 03-01-2004, 03:43 PM I'm here at work. Headache is completly gone(thank goodness). still holding weightwise. Ate too much the weekend.Need to do some spring cleaning and yard work.
thinthinker 03-01-2004, 07:41 PM Howdy, ladies!
I did 6 jobs today, one got cancelled. I was able to get in and get my crown cemented back in. Had coffee with a friend. Went to WI (not Wisconsin). Stayed the same, that makes two weeks in a row. :( Let's not even go to where the muscle weighs more than fat. I'm not buying it. I probably need to watch food more closely and then I'd see a loss. Stopped and got a new loose pair of knit pants to wear to Curves. Came home, changed into them. Went back out to Curves. Did the workout! Yay, me!!! Then went to the bank and to return some videos before coming home.
I walked in the door, took off my coat and #1 Son comes up and says "mom, did you know you have a tag back here?" Well, crap! In my zest to get back out to Curves, before 'evil me' talked 'good me' out of it, I left the dang tags on my pants, and hanging out to boot! YIKES!!! and you know that none of those dang women at Curves mentioned it to me!
2cute: I'm afraid I would not be as kind as you. I would have my hand out immediately. Guess this will take care of wedding expenses. Funny, but the minute I get a buck in my pocket I've got it spent 15 different ways. :o
Andria: WooHoo for your pound and 3 inches!!! I did my Curves today too! (funny, I thought we had high fiving smilies, but I guess the cheers will have to do). * My honey is a HUGE Tolkein fan. He's read the trilogy once a year since he was 17.
Terri: Thanks for the cheer :cheer: I need all the encouragement I can get.
Katrina: We are certainly thinking Spring here. But more like April Showers. It's been raining all day.
Barb: I'll be darned if I could find who saw Twisted. Just slap me and call me stupid. Maybe no one saw it. It's gotta be my early Alzheimers (thanks Dad)
Mary: Glad the headache is gone. Sounds like you've got some good outdoor stuff planned.
Well, girls, gotta run. Honey just came in the door. See you all later. Love  ya bunches.
2cute2Bfat 03-01-2004, 07:55 PM :coach: I SAW TWISTED .... :corn:
I said it was a good "who done it" movie and I like Ashely Judd in those type of movies.
Geeze... I make a lasting impression.
My computer has been broken down alllllll day. and now hubby is home wanting me to feed him. He walked in the door the minute I got the computer up and working. Grrrr.
I have been down in the dumps all day and slept half of it away. I am soooooooo tired of being under the weather.
kantsing75 03-01-2004, 09:58 PM Thin - I really appreciated the note you sent me, clueing me in where to find current posts. I'm afraid I have been floundering around a bit.
Andria - I take it you are a sci - fi fan too? My recently x honey called me a fu-fu sci-fi fan - and I am. Unfortunately I don't have the time to read I used to have. I did like the name and use it on ebay.
I thank everyone for the warm welcome and look forward to getting to know everyone.
2cute - are you an Okie too?
We no longer have a curves in town. There are a couple of those mechanical machine excersise places. My daughter and I are walking in the mornings 3 to 5 days a week. This is our third week. We walked 22 blocks this morning - a record for us :cb: (did you notice I can't spell the e word?)
Richard's disco sweat is part of our routine in the evening a couple of times a week.
Work has a wellness program in partnership with the local YMCA and offer a personal trainer. I went to the y regularly when I lost down to 268 (sad :o got there and went back up) I just haven't got up my nerve to go back. The trainer thing is new. The weight machines are in the same room as the free wieghts where all these athletic men work out. I have to admit the scenery is pretty good and actually kind of inspiring. I just have to get over the self conscience wiggle worries before I go again.
I am doing an "adjusted" Atkins plan. My daughter freaks if I stick to it to close because she thinks it unhealthy. She also went through a phase a while back where she was a vegetarian - she still doesn't eat much meat. So she finds my preference in eating plans very unattractive.
As is typical with Atkins I'm losing quickly these first few weeks. I am also using Dr. Phils book and working through it chapter by chapter.
If you haven't noticed I am very wordy. Good luck to all
looking forward to getting to know everyone,
Judy
BarbPA 03-01-2004, 11:40 PM Judy - WELCOME!!! Glad you found us! Looking forward to getting to know you!!!
Gals, I gotta hit the hay, will talk more tomorrow!!!
:high:
Barb
Yep, Thin, there is a high five smile! :)
ageoldie 03-01-2004, 11:49 PM Grrrr Grrrr :censored: Grrr I just lost my long post, so I'll just say hi, and I'll be back tomorrrow!
thinthinker 03-02-2004, 01:08 AM Hi all!
Gosh, 2cute: I am sooooo sorry! I scanned back through the posts and I couldn't find who had seen it. :o Forgive me??? * I can't believe you are depressed after that windfall yesterday. I'd still be hootin' and hollerin'. I do know what it's like to feel crappy though and I truly don't think you took it easy long enough. You've got another busy day with your sister coming in again tomorrow and then again next weekend. You better take those days in-between to rest and relax.
DonnaD: You are ever so welcome! We started out as just a humble little thread in the middle of 'Support' and just before Christmas, Suzanne (one of the owners of the site) asked if we would like our own little area. So we have grown by leaps and bounds, and you're right, sometimes it's a bit overwhelming. But if you click on any of the threads that are 'stickied' you'll see the first post is basically an introduction to what you will find in the thread. Then the ones with a number behind them are for our general, everyday chatter. Watch closely now, because we only have a couple more posts to go and we'll start a new thread #497.
Barb: Well, darn, I knew there was a high five somewhere, I just didn't see it when I was trying to do it with Andria. I'll have to go back and look again. Thanks.
Barbg: Darn posting fairies messin' with you again?? Sorry to hear that. Hope you'll come back soon and fill us in on what we missed.
Andria: Here's that high five I owe ya! :high:
Well girls, time for bed. I'll see you tomorrow. Love  ya bunches.
Jehari 03-02-2004, 03:42 AM Hi girls! Sorry I've been AWOL. I've been sooooooo incredibly busy. I don't know why it is that things happen all at once, but boy do they!! I haven't even had time to read the thread. I have to quick run off to my dentist appointment now, but wanted to pop in and say HI and stuff. I'll try to get back later and doing some reading and catching up.
Talk at ya later,
Jen
Terri in MO 03-02-2004, 08:39 AM Good morning!
