View Full Version : Fibro Thread #17
Happy Canuk 03-29-2001, 01:59 PM Hi everyone. I typed a nice long post yesterday, and then it disappeared. I just didn't have time to do it again. Yesterday was one of those very, very rare days, that I woke up feeling good. I left to go walking at 8:20 , walked until 9:30, got some groceries, went to see my buddy the Chiro, cleaned up the house, washed the floors, made dinner (had company) and then visited until 10:30. After that I was just tired. Today doesn't seem to be a repeat of waking up feeling good. I feel like I was hit by a semi. Guess I overdid it, or it was just a day when both the arthritis and the fibro decided not to kick up their heels.
Candice - Did you try acupuncture. That works not badly for tennis elbow. I would rather that than a cortisone shot. Cortisone is not good for the joint, nor your body. You also gain weight from them. That should scare you(lol).
Meme - Hello. Still running girl! Boy I get tired just reading your posts sometime. You probably can't outrun the problems you have, but who knows for sure!
Ally - SEX - ummmm! Well what can I say! Be careful walking if it is icy. Sure don't want to fall. That is why I like walking inside, however, that is coming to an end in the middle of April. Then it is outside I guess. My husband will go walking with me. We used to do lots of that. Would go out arount 9:00p.m. and walk for an 11/2 to 2 hours. Loved that. Then this fibro business started in the legs, and had to give that up. Am now trying to walk for at least 40-6- min.
Phyllis - Hope you are feeling better. Decided to start a new thread as the other one was getting quite long. I sure wish we were having 70+ weather. It is spring now - I think it sprung on Monday. It is really nice, and the air has a much softer feel to it. Also saw ducks swimming on a semi-frozen pond. The birds are chirping away like crazy. Haven't seen a Robin yet, however. The kids are out on their bikes, scooters, playing in every mud puddle they can find. Just being kids and having fun. Nice to see them after the winter.
Well everyone, take care, and I wish for you a day like I had yesterday. It surely was a gift.
Ally0306 03-29-2001, 08:41 PM Candice...I had an aunt who took cortisone for various ailments and ended up with knee and hip replacements. That used to be the miracle drug, and then they found out all the damage it could do. BUT, she would feel Soooo much better.
Same with my mother and her prednisone for asthma.
And they were always hungry.
I am keeping my fingers crossed that you don't need it.
Isn't this FM stuff the pits?
I am getting my period so don't know what to complain about first.
Well, forget that I whined about not having a man. Some days that feels like the best thing I have going.
I made salt potatoes for my kids for dinner and ate most of them. That would be PMS. Salt. Spuds.
Happy....I keep reading about this boundary that FM and CFS people should keep in mind. But when I have a really good day, I want to take advantage of it. It is so hard. It is up to 40 degrees here...whoopee. Rain for the weekend.
Candicej 03-30-2001, 05:06 AM and I am already anxious about this! I just want the arm to be usable and it is not now!
When I had one in the right elbow in 92...it took 3 days and then no pain and it never came back! But I am older and more sensitive to drugs now!
Anne....accupuncture is not paid for by our insurance and the way my arm feels it wouldn't help much or it would take forever to heal. I had a very bad shoulder in 96 and chose the natural way and it took 2 years before I could use it and it still gives me trouble! If it is not better...and I need to quit typing cause that makes it worse...I just can't make up my mind. I don't think one shot cause weight gain..do you know this for sure???????:?: I no the oral meds do and I can't take those. I'm sacred to try it and scared not to !
Ally....What can I say..you are just too funny....Hope you know your life puts a smile on my face:)
Meme...come back! Ya still got a headache?????????????
Tootie.....did you have any problems with your shots?????????
tootie 03-30-2001, 10:19 AM Hi Candice, No the lanicane and cortizone shots did not make my joints worse.Sometimes, you just have to take the only "medicine" that's available in order to get relief.
I'm surprised that the doctor did not explain to you just how much is too much.My rehumi gave me what I thought was a combination lanicaine/cortizone.
I think it is awful that the doctor just let you leave the office without ensuring you that this one shot would not harm you.Sometimes, you have to ask, "is this what you would do with your arm??"
I think what the girls were saying was that the people they knew were getting shots and they just came closer and closer and finaly had to have surgery, but I really don't believe the shots caused the further deteriation.
The doc's office called and said the xrays were fine but the doc wants to talk to me about my bone density test.I do not fit the profile for osteoporosis, but I'm sure there is some loss due to age and maybe not eating right with all the diets I have been on.Especially where I had no cheese for a long time and my stomach was bothering me with all the suppliments I was trying to take.
Now that I'm eating healthier, but not losing again,my next test may show an improvement. That's why I think small weights are important, because for some reason I do not understand, the repitions of small weights improve muscles and then causes bone strength.
Of course you can not use small weights when you have such pain.and mind you, I started with this stuff when I was rather young and a size six also.At the first time it happened to me, I belonged to a HMO and the young doc said it was my unhappy marriage causing me "grief"{in my head} and would not treat me unless I went to a shrink. Well I made an appointment with their shrink and after explaining to him the situation I was living with, he said "you have a bad marrigae" Being the cynic that I am, I lauged so hard that he became embarassed.
Since I came down to Texas tho, and changed the way i'm eating I must say{knock on wood}that some of that has subsided. But not completely, but like I said before, I have a brace for evey part of my body excepting the tush.
Candice get the shot or ask for a MRI to see if they can come up with other than the old adage,"tennis elbow".
My oldest brother, a few years ago was complaining about the very same pain, and I told him what it was. He said I could have saved some money for the doc visit since his family doc did nothing, offered him nothing. He followed my advice and put it in a sling, put some ice on it and eventually it went bye bye.
Maybe you can anyalize it this way, you had a shot once before and you know that you were not allegic then, so chances are good that you are not going to have a reaction now plus you have had some time between shots so the chances of "accumilation" is not there either. Cortizone is feared the most and yet can be a life saver.
For a while I have been explaining the pain as former 'football injuries" and people would say, did you play football? So I said no, I just wanted to sound like a man and not a woman with mental problems!!
good luck what ever direction you take!
TA TA ladies with all the cute animules:wave:
MemeToo 03-30-2001, 01:59 PM Still running. No rest for the weary!!!
I have had a headache/migraine every single day this week...since Sunday. I'm sick of this!
Yesterday I helped my daughter put up border in Ross' room (Woody and Buzz Lightyear)...we did a good job! It really looks cute. He has the wall decorations and the bedspread, etc. Kids today have so much!!! TOO MUCH! He has more toys than he could ever hope to play with. And everytime he goes shopping he thinks he is supposed to get something else! They have taken the day off today and took him up to a private school to enroll him for Kindergarten. They want me to go get him everyday at 12 and keep him until 6...PLUS the baby who turned 2 last Sat. I hate to tell them no because they don't have anything else to do with him, I just don't know what to do.
I have a Kroger shop to do tonight. It will be the first one and I dread it in a way! They are paying me $15 to do the shop which should only take about 30 min. plus they are paying me another $10 driving (and I have to go to Cookeville tonight anyway). So that's not too bad I guess. I have another one to do on Tues. too. For those of you not knowing what I'm talking about, I've started doing some "Mystery Shopping" ... where you go into a store or a restaurant and buy stuff and ask questions, etc. and then fill out a computer generated form on how their performance was. I've been doing Shoney's restaurant once a week for the last month. With that one I get my food free just for critiquing the food, cleanliness and staff. It only takes me about 5 minutes to do that one. I think the Kroger one is going to take longer, though. I have to find people in each department and ask them a certain question. Like in the deli I have to ask when the salad was made and in the bakery I have to ask how long in advance you need to order a BD cake, etc. Each week the questions change. I hope I can remember it all when I get in there. I can't take the audit form in with me!!!
Phyllis...didn't you say you liked bears??? That is the next page of clip art I'm doing on my clipart site. I'll come back in here and post it for you when I get it finished. I have some cute teddy bears!!!
Candice...go get the stupid shot...that's better than hurting all the time. So it takes 3 days to get to where you can use your arm...you can't use it now anyway so what difference does it make! If the shot made your other arm better it's a no brainer! Good luck!!!
Ally...what is salt potatoes? (All my food is salty!!!) :D That's what I usually crave all the time is something salty but I've never heard of salt potatoes.
Anne...I always do the same thing when I have a good day...kill myself and have to go to bed for a week afterward. But it just feels so good to be able to DO something, doesn't it? The doctors (or nobody else for that matter) understands us. They have told me repeatedly to take frequent rest periods, even when I'm feeling better...and hubby stays on my case all the time about getting more rest...but every day I think...just a little while longer and then I'll go lay down...but "then" never seems to come! The way my work is piling up I need a good MONTH!!!
It is supposed to rain here for the next couple of days...oh joy...more pain!
Gotta go and wash clothes...they've really piled up this week! UGH!
Happy Canuk 03-30-2001, 04:15 PM Candice. Here is a website for you to go read if you so desire http://onhealth.webmd.com/family/columnist/item%2C46610.asp
When I was having shots in my back joints, the anethesiologist told me that the facet joints are not the same as other joints. If they should disintegrate that would be a good thing, as the pain would go away. One day, apparently, they will fuse themselves to the sacrum, and I shall be pain free (hahaha) but stiff, as those are the joints that allow us to turn and move.
Will talk later.
MemeToo 03-30-2001, 04:45 PM OK...got the bear page done...or should I say Pages! I had too many to go on one page so had to do two. Took me a couple of hours to do them! I had 58 gifs. That makes 24 pages on my clip art site now. I made one page of just clip art...it is at:
http://memeart.tripod.com/TeddyBears.html
Then I made another page of some clip art and some animations...it is at:
http://memeart.tripod.com/MoreBears.html
To see the rest of the site click on the "Back to clip art and animated gifs" link at the bottom of the page.
If you all come across any animated bears that I don't have send them to me or let me know where they are and I'll add them to my collection!!!
Happy Canuk 03-30-2001, 05:55 PM OK Meme, went and had a look. Really good. I enjoyed them and shall be taking a couple (I think you said we could, didn't you). Lots of work, but they make it worthwhile I am sure, after you see how it all comes together.
Candice. Shouldn't do any harm to the shoulder joint with just a shot or two. Sorry to alarm you. Went looking for your name (animated) but can't find it anywhere. Am still looking. My arm is still sore as well. It feels like it did about 23 years ago. That was a tendon thing, and took a long, long, time to heal. Will have to go to the Dr. next week, I guess, if it continues. My knee and my back are really sore. Apparently, the pain in my knees is coming from L4/5 disk (so says the Chiro). When he bent my knee the other day, the pain was dead center in the lower back, so I think he is probably right. Sure doesn't feel like fm. The pain is actually acute and that bites.
Phyllis - Did you just have the shots. I am sorry, but I think I must have missed something. Hope they are helping if you did.
Ally - You know I am happily married, but if something should even happen to my husband, I would never even consider getting married again. I would just take the time to be selfish, and pamper myself. My Mom was on her own from the time she was 58. My Dad dies when he was 59. I asked her one time about dating, and she said no, she would only compare other men to my dad. She was happy and content just the way it was. I am pretty sure that is how I would be as well. You don't have to worry about cooking a big supper, washing extra clothes, arguing or anything.
We must try capture Meme and give her a good long rest. Meme you must be running yourself thin, by now.
I am going to try to put in a graphic, but for some reason they are not working.
Ally0306 03-30-2001, 08:18 PM Oh Candice...I hope I didn't scare you. I want you to feel comfortable doing whatever is going to make you feel better. One of my friend's husband was a truck driver and had shots about once a year. I knew he would wait til he could hardly walk before he got another. All this was to keep him from having surgery and finally he did. But I do remember that after the shot he would want to go out dancing.
Meme....I take Midrin for migraines and realized a while ago that I haven't had one in quite a while. The other thing I read in the paper this weak was that wheat (gluten) causes some people to have headaches. And I cut out a lot of bread etc, so maybe that is why headaches have decreased.
Tootie...I like your positive look on things. You've got it tough, but you always seem upbeat.
Happyanne....My exbeloved is here right now. That's all I need in order to find my single status just fine and dandy. He is filling up jugs of water from my sink cause his water is undrinkable.....and he is arguing with my kids and they are getting disrespectful and the whole thing makes me want to throw up.
Can you imagine going over to the woman's house who wanted to be done with you and ask if you can have some water?
tootie 03-31-2001, 12:08 AM Hi alley. yes I can imagine your beloved or even my beloved doing such a thing. I think they THINk they still have some kind of "rights".
I can not get over some of the anger I feel when my beloved is mentioned. Yet, some how when someone attacks him or makes unfavorable remarks, I almost appear to be defending him. I "feel sorry" for his behavior and I guess that was because I was calling him "not well" for the longest time and therefore felt sorry for his strange behavior.
I have resorted to using the walking stick and a crutch to prevent that bad pain in the thigh and calf when I take a step. But oddly enough I can stand without pain.
Happy you were doing so well, sometimes I feel this can't be fibro either.Meme has the strength of all of us put together don't you think?
I have to go the vicadin is kicking in and making me feel woosy
bye
Candicej 03-31-2001, 12:35 AM I think if I would stay off the puter my arm would feel better but my mind wouldn't! Anne Thanks for the site...I was at WEb MD most of the night looking up stuff..I'm worried it will make my anxiety worse....even the lidocaine the dentist uses makes me anxious!
This site is still not working right with Netscape and we couldn't get IE downloaded...Just before it was finished downloading it would say you do not have enough room on drive C and we were putting it on drive D! My son thinks it is because it was originally on C and deleted. Meme any ideas on this one????????????:?:
Sorry you gals are in so much pain!:( I just can't type much to get to ya all! I appreciate you sharing your knowledge!
Gotta check MEME's bears out.........
MemeToo 03-31-2001, 01:50 AM Only one...get a bigger computer!
tootie 04-01-2001, 11:51 AM not april fools !!
Just lost it; it's something I did this time.
The bears are wonderful and the annimated bunny is just too cute. I can see them but can't copy, sorry.
I'm still walking with a crutch and stick. helps to keep the pain level down.Have an appointment with the Rehumi monday. If it's still this bad, I WANT a shot in the hip.Haven't had cortizone shot anywhere in my bod since I left New York. But I could have used it this past week. I tried hot baths, heating pad and I was going to try ice next but the heat seems to help.
Happy I tried to get that Docs no? little electronic device but no can find any info on the site you sent me to.
I guess I could have gone to a Chiro, but I have so little faith in MD's and less in bone crack-ers.
Sun is out today, and so I can't blame the weather for anything. The forecast is predicting 70 and above this week and.I just realized that it's
a year since my emergency visit to get blood and I'm not back to the strength that I had a year ago.
I can't even open a bottle of soda/cap. When I buy one if I'm out I have to ask people to please crack it open for me like a jerk. I offer a weak excuse like the cast just came off my broken arm etc.
Spent sometime cooking for my son and his company.this week end.
Still feel like DIL just tolerates me.I want to run home when I feel that way and my son gets angry.{ he hasn't a clue}
I didn't get much sleep last night so even tho it's a pretty day I want to stay in bed.
toodle doo
Candicej 04-02-2001, 02:25 AM Why the Vioxx made me less anxious???????????
Meme...that's no help I already knew that:rolleyes:
Toots....it was nice today here too but I didn't get out either!
Arm still not better and last night my eyes were bothering me so I had to use drops and keep them shut..so I couldn't see the 'puter!:dizzy: They are better today..must have gotton something in them like shampoo!
I lost the water weight gain of 2 pounds and one more! Isn't that exciting! For me it is.........Wonder when I should stop losing???????? I ordered a size 14 dress through the mail and it was way too big!:smug:
MemeToo 04-02-2001, 05:16 PM I'm kind of excited, too...but not about weight loss(wish it were!!!)
I just got my own domain site!!!
It will be www.design-max.net
Isn't that neat? But it is going to be a lot of work for awhile! (just what I need...more work!) I have to set my old family galleries site up all over again. It was completely done away with. Good thing I saved everything on a disc so all I will have to do is upload it and then fine tune it to the new site. Still...will take several days work to get it all working right. Soon as I have it done I'll let you all take a look. Who knows...maybe you'll want to give me some business! It is a web design business. I make personal and business pages on the internet. It is $29.95 a page and stays active for a year. That's really a lot cheaper than most domain host! You send me your pictures and data and I make you a page with whatever you want on it. I have Teletubbies, Barney, Pokemon, Toy Story, Veggie Tales, Winnie the Pooh, Barbie, all kinds of sports, wedding, anniversary, baby, Easter and Christmas pages and can make anything else you want. I think it's neat to have a page made around Christmas to send out instead of cards, and I also like the idea of wedding, anniversary and graduation pages. I have one on a free site now...it is at http://design_max.tripod.com/webdesign.html But it needs updating bad. There are a few of the pages that are still linked to the old site which has been done away with. I can't wait to revamp it all on the new domain. Time, time time...I need more time! I need about 36 hrs. in a day and at least 10 days in each week and then I'd STILL probably be behind!
I have THREE rug-rats today. I took Ross to school this morning and then had to go pick up my other two (3 & 5) for the rest of the day...their mother is in bed with a bad ear infection. I'll have them all 4 until after dinner tonight!!! (And I have to teach from 6 to 7:30 tonight...guess hubby will have to watch them then)! I need a vacation...which one of you would want to put me up for a week??? (I don't want to come if there are going to be kids there!!!) And I promise NOT to bring a child or a piano with me!!!!!!!
It is rainy here and I'm suffering bad!
Happy Canuk 04-02-2001, 05:39 PM Meme, congratulations. That sounds so exciting and it also sounds like a lot of work. I know you will enjoy it. As for a vacation, you can come stay with me. I will leave my granddaughter at her house (which is usually where she is anyway). We can walk by the lake, which should become a lake again by the end of the month, instead of a icefisherman hideaway, a skidoers paradise, and the skating is done for this year.
Candice, I sure hope your shoulder is feeling better. Did all that start when you started doing the light weight exercises? My arm is still really sore, as well as both knees. Just don't know when it is going to come, but I sure would like to see it all just plain leave!
Phyllis - Don't let your DIL get you down. Some people just don't appreciate much, I guess. I wish you could feel better, so you could go out and meet some people.
I think that is what would help a lot with the pain as well. It is called diversion. It helps me a lot. If I am busy I can't sit and think about how much everything hurts. I think Meme is trying to outrun all her pain - and I hope that she does!!
Ally - Hi. I would have drowned him I think. Imagine coming in to get water. Can't he buy it in the store instead of getting in your face. I guess if you have a platonic relationship it is ok, but if not, then I think you are a saint.
Take care all.
Candicej 04-02-2001, 11:10 PM Wonder if I will have to pay for it tomorrow! We are gonna get Meme's rain this week too!
I told my older son about my arm and to send laundry home today (he only has a small load) not like my other son who wears enough to keep an army clothed and has been doing his own the last year, so I could get it done before my shot on Wed if I get It and looks like I'm gonna! Both boys sent laundry home six loads of heavy clothes...just what my arm needs! I will be up all night doing it... was gonna bake but don't know if that will get done!
Meme..sounds like the kind of work you love to do! :) You wouldn't want to vacation here..too dirty! No kids though just cats and a dog!
Ann..it'smy elbow that hurts and how is your arm..is it a muscle thing or joint thing?
Hi Ally and Toots.. gotta go do laundry!
tootie 04-03-2001, 01:11 AM Hi Ladies, this afternoon I wrote a loverly note to "you all" and I did something to lose it again. Any how, once again today was not too bad, and I would have saved a lot of pain if I went in to see the Dr. last week. I should have insisted, pain doesn't wait and I think it wears you down.
So Candice, I took a shot in the butt, and so far some pain is already gone.It comes down from the hip joint to front of the thigh and down under the knee to the right calf.
I have tickets to go back to NY for a visit and I hope I will not be needing the crutch and the walking stick.
It's positive now, I have arthritis in the spine and slight in the hip and the bone density tests show some bone lose but not bad enought that some treatment will help to minimize further lose. This Rehumi is really nice, after she gave me the horse shot, she massaged the area to get the med around and alleviate the pain. NO OTHER DR EVER DID THAT AFTER A SHOT!!!
Candice, you will feel like a new person and you will be able to do everybody's laundry after the shot.
and Meme with all the work that she has done I can't imagine why she doesn't need a shot to keep going!
I found carb solutions which is a protein bar that is low carb/sugar and is reasonably priced to have when you are out and you need something to hold you off until supper.I made chicken salad this afternoon for lunch and had an apple for breakfast and one of those bars earlier this evening and I'm not hungry now and it's almost 11pm.Hopefully, it stay's this way and maybe the scale will start moving downward once again.
Did you all see the womwn's world paper at the supermarket? Some lady lost mucho pounds eating a modified diet of subway sandwiches!! She lost lots of weight, but she described her self as eating bags and bags of chips and stuff before this. In fact I think she reported losing 22 pounds the first two weeks.
I don't eat anything like that or the amount so what's going on in my bod???
That's why she's in the magazine, that has to be unusual.
Well gotta go. Alley, your beloved should treat you better!Does he have a new lady in his life or does he free lance all over the place? Just get your weight down and when you are ready to buy new clothes then your revenge will be for him to see you so glamorus. My beloved is supposed to come down to Texas and if I don't lose weight I will not have anything to crow about.
So I have to get my revenge someother way.
Trumps first wife said that being blonde was her revenge. But she has bundles of money to keep her cozy. I wish I could win the Texas lottery so that I could have the bestest revenge of all!!!!!!!
ta ta sleep well my ladies:wave:
MemeToo 04-03-2001, 04:50 PM OK Anne, count me in! When's good for you?
Candice, dirt doesn't bother me (if it did I'd have to move!) When do you want me??? :D
I'm hoping to get a long weekend the last weekend in this month and the first weekend in May. Hubby and I have tentatively (holding my breath) made plans with another couple to go to Pigeon Forge April 27 & 28. There is a new restaurant/club that has opened up there that has (supposedly) wonderful steaks and live entertainment. Hubby's guys(that work for him) got him passes for 2 for one free night up there last Christmas and we haven't gotten to use them yet. Then I have an app. in Nashville for a mammogram on Friday, May 4th and another app. to see the Dr. on Monday, May 7th so I'm going to go up and Fri. and stay the whole 4 days! ALONE!!! I'm really looking forward to that one! I'm not sure I can get a baby sitter worked out for both Fridays. I HAVE to have the friday in May off, though, so if it comes down to just one, I'll have to miss the trip to Pigeon Forge. Any of you ever been to Gatlinburg in the Smokeys? It is only about 2 1/2 hrs. from here and we go there for quick weekend getaways a lot. There is A LOT of factory outlet stores in Pigeon Forge and a lot of entertainment there and in Gatlinburg, too. It's a fun place to go...a lot of people like Dolly Wood but I've never been, hubby doesn't much like places like that!
I have 3 kids again today. Had Ross and Jenna last night, took Ross to preschool at 9 and picked up Garrett for lunch and then went and got Kaylyn at 12:30 and of course I've had Jenna all day. She's my side-kick (literally!) Hubby will get Ross from daycare when he gets off work and I'll have all 4 until sometime tonight. They make me tired! If running could take you away from the pain I'd never have an ache but I'm afraid it isn't that simple ladies! There's no shot to keep me going...just plain old necessity! Babies don't wait until you feel like taking care of them!!!
Happy Canuk 04-03-2001, 08:14 PM Meme - You can come anytime you like. I really hope that you can get away both times, but if not, the time alone will be the best. Just rest and shopping! What more could you want to do, besides find a hottub or whirlpool maybe. You are just like the energizer bunny, girl, you just keep going, and going, and going.
Phyllis - how wonderful that you can go back to NY for a visit. I think that is necessary so you can get grounded again, and then when you go back, join a couple of groups, meet some people, and start to have fun. That will help with the pain quite a bit.
Candice - My arm is sore in the muscles between the shoulder and the elbow. Just throbs. Pulled some muscles and tendons in it quite a few years ago, but don't recall hurting it at all. Just kind of started out of nowhere, just like all the rest of this darn pain. My knees are throbbing away as well, but I believe that it is caused from the lower back. Go for the needle and enjoy at least having your arm painfree.
Ally - Hope your weekend was good.
I went to my daughters in Edmonton for the weekend. It was my granddaughters birthday party (she is actually 3 today) on Sunday. These little people sure grow fast. Never had time to realize how fast when they were mine. Now I see how fast it is, and it makes my head swim.
Now to some serious stuff - I can't seem to get motivated to stick on my diet! Now that is terrible, because Ihave lost 16 pounds and I want to continue. I just get feeling so tired, that I eat to many carbs rtrying to wake myself up - not working anyway, so might as well save the calories. I have to get back on track - no I WILL GET BACK ON TRACK.
Have a nice evening everyone.
Ally0306 04-03-2001, 08:47 PM Hi All. AOL was busy last nite. I couldn't get anywhere. Computer experts? Got any idea why I am having a problem getting an attachment forwarded to me? Someone said to check my settings...don't see anything there. This only happens from one particular person who forwards jokes to a whole group. They get it, I don't. (that is not a pun)
Candice....I would love to have a dress come that is too big. I have a bag from LL BEan that I haven't even opened cause I am afraid the pants won't fit. I didn't want to pay extra for Woman's size. Just got reg size 16.
Happy...No way am I a saint. I am a jerk.
By the time I woke up and realized how depressed and needy my hubby is, I was pregnant with twins.
He has not had a date since we split almost 8 years ago. He insists he has no money......but against my wishes and without my approval he has located and purchased two old junker cars for my kids. They are not even 16 yet. He is one of those men who are scared that their kids are going to just walk out of their lives so he keeps them coming back by letting them get away with stuff like this. My kids have threatened to walk away. He whines, gets mean, argues, has brought them home in the middle of the night etc, etc.
Right now he is Mr Wonderful because of these cars, and I am losing ground by the second.
THEY ARE NOT READY FOR CARS!!! Rowdy kids from the other side of the tracks chased them home today on their bikes. I just want to cry. I feel like I have no control.
And Tootie.....Subway diet. Those people have a lot of weight to lose. They eat two subs and a bag of chips a day. An unbelievable decrease over their normal eating habits. Here in NYS we were introduced on TV to Jared...he started this whole thing and lost 150lbs. He is a shy sweet looking kid. I saw him on a talk show. He has gained so much notoriety. BUT he says more than the diet was the fact that he walked miles and miles each day.
When are you coming to NY? Be careful ...you know NY in Spring. Today was an unexpected nice day. About 50. Tomorrow we could have a snow storm.
My Doc was forced out of his practice. He is the part-timer...not bringing enough money into the practice and health Ins cut their rates. I am transferred to the vivacious and THIN Doc who knows it all (and we know nothing)
And I have PMS!!!
Candicej 04-04-2001, 05:29 AM Well today is shot day if I don't chicken out! I'm sore today from the yard yesterday..figured that would happen, I should learn to take it very slow the first time out...but you gals know how that goes!
Got the laundry done..I was up untill 7Am doing it! Now we are told we need a new rust filter! I kept telling DH the water was too rusty..it was staining stuff! He never listens ...just does what he wants at his own pace! Men!!!!!!!
Meme....don't know where you will sleep and you will hate my old computer!LOL  But come on anyway! I know...you can stop here and get me on your way to Anne's and I will go with you!:D
Ally..know what you mean about the doc!!!!!!!!! Your x sounds like a real jerk!!!!!!! Did the pants fit?????
Is your mail you are not getting an attachment on through an email group like egroups...cause then you won't get any attachements.....that is what they told me!
Toots..so you had a shot in the a** so we could say you are a pain in the a** We would never! Nice doc..glad it helped.
Anne...get ready for Meme and me!!!!!!!!!!!!!;)
Ally0306 04-04-2001, 09:25 PM Candice....The dress I got from LL Bean looks like a tent. Already shoved it back in the bag. I have the pants on a hanger, but I think they might have to go back too.
I think their stuff runs big, so I'm not feeling like I am ultra skinny.
I also used a gift certificate and instead they charged my Visa. That tickes me off.
There is nothing like shopping in a store.
Now, if I could only get all stores to buy those skinny circus mirrors.
Almost 50 degrees today and yesterday. Walked too much. Legs are really aching but it was worth it.
Candicej 04-05-2001, 01:29 AM That's it for now!:)
tootie 04-05-2001, 04:11 AM Well, the first day the shot worked beautiful. It is still working but not down the leg.She did say that she thinks that is caused by a pinched nerve. I know that if I lose some of this weight, the pinched nerve thing can ease up also.
So, Candice, don't overdo so the shot can work well and maybe you will not need another until a year or so from now.
So this is my second day on Neurontin and the first night I did sleep and was amazed at the two blocks of time I slept. from 10 to about 5am and then again until 9:30 am,but tonight here I am at 2am and no sleep with the same dose as last night.
I'm hurting all over just sitting down.
Would you believe I have turned the furnace off? and have it on automatic air?
gooday ya all!!.
MemeToo 04-05-2001, 12:46 PM WOW...all these shots...don't know what to say! Hope they are helping you guys! We changed insurance companies back in Feb. and my reg. doc. is not on the new Ins. My d-i-l started going to a D.O. a couple of months ago and she loves him...says he does neck and back adjustments. You call him the day or the day before you want to see him and he gets you in right then...no 2 week appts. I called them this morning to see if they would take my Ins and they said yes! I'm going to try them for my next gold shot. I was having to pay $77 a pop with my reg doc. so they fixed it so I could go to the clinic and get it but now I'll be able to go to the Dr. and get it. I just hope I like him as well as my d-i-l does. She has wierd tastes! I always dread going to a new Dr.
Ally...about the attachments...it is probably not your computer...if your server is AOL that is probably your problem. My son and my hubby both have people sending them attachments at work all the time and they said that customers who use AOL have a lot of trouble sending and receiving attachments. Also, I have had several people who are using AOL e-mail me that they can't get some of my web pages.
Candice, when do you want to go??? That would be sooo much fun. How long would it take us to drive to Anne's? I really need a break but I don't know if my body could stand THAT MUCH of a break or not! What with having to stop and stretch and walk every hour or two it would probably take us 2 or 3 days to get there! :D
My d-i-l was too sick to keep her kids Mon. and Tues. but she took off to East TN this morning!?! And I'm stuck with her dog. So I have 2 dogs to take out every 1 1/2 to 2 hrs. plus a baby I'm trying to potty train. I just get the last one done and it's time to start over again!
Happy Canuk 04-05-2001, 08:51 PM so I hope that you are feeling better. Phyllis, are you feeling better today. That would be awful to have the shot and then not get the relief you are supposed to get. How about you Candice, does your arm feel better today?
Ally - take it easy with that walking. My knees have been giving me trouble this past week - again. Hard to walk when they hurt. Don't worry about losing weight. Buy something that you like right now, and enjoy wearing that until such time as you do lose! We women are so unaccepting of ourselves. I don't know that it really matters. I really don't feel any different - just know that I look better.
Meme - It would probably take a few days to get here. When shall I expect you? Maybe Ally and Phyllis want to come along. You just need to fly to Calgary airport and I'll come get you all. Well that is a dream, but it would be a riot, I think.
Went to the Chiro yesterday and also had a massage, and today, I am really hurting. Have taken 222's, Tylenol 3's and still have this stupid pain. Wish it would just go away for a while anyway. Went and got my haircut this afternoon as well.
I am having Easter here. There will be approx. 25-30 people coming for dinner and the day. Don't know quite how I am going to get through this, but I will somehow. What are you all doing for Easter?
Happy Canuk 04-06-2001, 05:10 PM This is for you
Ally0306 04-06-2001, 08:02 PM Meme...Do you think I can blame my lack of graphics on AOL too? I did try your plan and got thru and thought I had chosen a pic, and NOTHING. I find that I have very little patience for learning something new anymore. I don;t know that it is age. I think it is a little brain fog. I HATE having to read something over and over. I had to take a migraine pill after doing my taxes.
I had Capital gains cause I cashed in a Mutual fund to get my house carpeted. You should see the carpet now. Doggy brown. It should be "stupid enough to buy CREAM when you have teens and dogs".
It is beloved night. He is here to steal some water.
I am glad to be single on Friday nites.
I am going to heat up some chicken, make a salad, pop in a movie and RELAX.......
Happy...yeah. I am keeping the pants I got even tho they are kind of baggy. They are comfortable and that is the look I can have right now. Sleek is out.
A friend has a picture of me on her desk holding her baby and it is a close up flash. I look like an elephant.
I want to steal that picture. Or just borrow it and white out a few chins.
Candice....Hope the shot works. And Tootie, glad you are feeling relief. I have read about neurontin.
Here's my dream.....that I can walk more and more this summer and get rid of at least one roll of flab and one chin. Actually I don't think I have a double chin, unless I am looking down at my chest.
And I don;t do that too much.
Hope you all have a nice weekend. I am counting on a nice one.
Happy Canuk 04-06-2001, 08:55 PM Going to try put in a picture here.
Happy Canuk 04-07-2001, 01:45 AM in case your missing your Woodpecker, I think I found him for you.
Candicej 04-07-2001, 03:07 AM I'm still having pain. I go to see him again on Wed. I just want it to go away so I can play in the dirt this spring! Typing on the puter hurts alot!
Anne..Thanks for the name..where did you find it! Nice pic...is that you??????You have red hair???? You don't look old like you said..and you could not be my mother!
Meme....That would be along trip..guess we will have to fly..get your wings ready:angel:
Ally....I love baggy things! I know what you mean about reading stuff over and over..some days I just can't concentrate at all! YOu got light carpet with dogs and kids! WE need new carpet bad but then I couldn't have my animals around! Would make me to anxious and I have enough of that!
Toots...so you are taking neurontin..I haven't asked my doc about it yet..wanted to get this arm better. Meme takes it too! Hope it finally works for you....any noticeable side effects right away?????

Smilies are by the ones I like the best!!!!!!!!!!:)
MemeToo 04-07-2001, 04:53 AM Anne, wonder picture. I actually got the pictures hubby made of me and Sammy back today. He made them back around Christmas but I just last week finished up the roll. I scanned and cropped one to show you all! I had to cut out part of Sammy...she's too big! And she was only 6 mos. old in this picture. (wish I could cut out some of ME!!!) I not doing any good losing weight right now. Got a lot of stress in my life! All I want to do is eat!
Ally...I doubt AOL has anything to do with posting graphics in here. What kind of browser are you running? It may be that. I don't think Netscape works well in here. I used Netscape until they revamped the message board and I've had to switch over to IE now.
As for the woodpecker...I haven't heard it any this week but hubby is sure to wake me up hammering tomorrow morning (or THIS morning!). He is going to built a wall/rail to divide our back deck. We got the stuff tonight at Lowe's. He is going to build it to match what is around the deck and then put a gate at one end. He's puting hinges at the other end and rollers on it so we can move it back when we want to use the whole deck. We got outdoor carpet to put on the half on the French Door Side and I have a table, 6 chairs and umbrella picked out. He's going to go get that tomorrow afternoon. I CAN'T WAIT TO GET OUTSIDE!!! Now I can go out and take Jenna and have her AND Sammy outside without them acutally "getting together". Sammy can have her own side of the deck, she is so much bigger than Jenna I'm afraid she'll knock her down. I found a tiny little wadding pool for Jenna to put out there. She is going to love being outside. IT WAS 83 DEGREES HERE TODAY!!!
Ally0306 04-07-2001, 07:18 PM Nice picture Meme. If I ever learn now to scan, cut. paste, and play I will get me a stand in.
I had to give a picture of my driver's license at work and pasted a picture of Raquel Welch over mine. No one noticed for a while, then it got passed around. I am just living that one down.
I wonder if I have my muscles all tense in anticipation of good weather. There isn't any today...it is rainy and kind of cold, but I haven't ached like this in a while. I put on hiking boots anyway and took the dog out twice. Then, my little sugar addicted mind took over and drove me to Penneys where they are having a sale and you have to take the wrapper off a chocolate bar to see how much you get off your purchase. I suppose I could have thrown the candy away......
AND I was only buying sox and underwear for my kids Easter basket. They used to get toys.
I did get PEanut Butter eggs and Cadbury eggs tho. NOt for me....honest!!!!
Candice....does it take a while for the shot to kick in? I am keeping my finger's crossed.
Happy.....I went to K-mart today too and found a cotton dress (better than the one I am returning to LL Bean) for $19. It was probably made in a sweat shop....but it is better than $54 for that LL Bean number. I wish my sister-in-law hadn't sent me the LL Bean cert. I think they are overpriced.
tootie 04-08-2001, 09:16 AM Hello ladies, I have to make this short because I did not sleep well and it's seven am already. I've been on this thing and accomplished nothing.
Meme, you look just lovely and I hope you get to enjoy your new deck w/ beloved.H.
Candice, I hope the shot is taking hold and giving you some relief soon.
As for me, is any one on the Neurontin? So far they do not help me to sleep at night. In the day I could sleep, but that's not what I want to do.
I had some measure of relief of pain in the leg and then nothing. Still walking with crutches and stick.
Maybe tomorrow will be better.
bye bye for now.
MemeToo 04-08-2001, 05:11 PM Phyllis, I have been taking Neurontin for about 6 or 8 mos. and I LOVE it. I take 1-300mg. before bedtime. I was having migraine headaches almost every day until I started taking the Neurontin and now they are a lot better plus my neck and shoulders don't hurt as bad as they did.
Hope you got some sleep today!
Candicej 04-08-2001, 10:50 PM It's been real windy here and I thought it was the wind that made me tired in the yard yesterday but the same thing happened again today..and I'm not doing much out there! My blood pressure is low for once wonder if that is causing the fatigue or if the cortisone did it!
Meme...lovely picture!!!!!!!!! Can't believe your DH would let a fox like you sleep alone!LOL Sammy is cute too!LOL
Toots..hope you can get some sleep and the neurontin take a few weeks to work I think! Meme sure likes it!
Ally...glad you found a dress to wear....I still have some coming in the mail to try on. Cute thing with the picture trick! Give us a description of you!
Anne.....your hair is the same color as Sammys!!!!!!! You gals look so young!!!!
Later, no energy, my limbs are like lead!!!!!!!!
Candicej 04-09-2001, 12:18 AM I know MEME and Anne have seen this before but I thought I would put it on here for The gals who didn't:) I'm at least 15 pounds lighter now!LOL This was Christmas if you can't tell and I can't crop anything either!
Candicej 04-09-2001, 12:25 AM That old gal is my mom!LOL My hair is pulled back and up in a pony tail! My face is so much thinner now and the wrinkles are starting to show! Oh know..maybe I should gain some weight back:lol:
tootie 04-09-2001, 04:16 PM Hi Guys, great pictures!
You all look so young because you are young.
I have a strange story to tell this afternoon and then I have to get. I have been taking the neurontin {reluctantly} for several days. Last night was weird; I found my self half a sleep, placing the bath mat in front of the shower, taking my bath sheet and placing it over the glass of the stall shower and opening the door of the shower, turning on the shower; realizing it was kind of dark and put on the light; then stepped in and when the cold water hit my feet, guess what? I woke up and said to myself, just when did you decide to take a shower in the middle of the night? It was 2 am! I finished showering, knowing that I had been sleep walking.Went back to bed and woke up at 7am. So Neurontin helps me to sleep and walk.
Not sure I like this?:nono:
Happy Canuk 04-09-2001, 06:00 PM I will start a new thread, as this is getting fairly long.
