Hi!

Sorry that I"ve been MIA the last few weeks. Hope everyone is doing well. I keep losing my password for this board, get frustrated, and give up. A poor excuse, I know, but I wanted to let you guys know that I have been reading your posts! :D

Saw the Neuro Surg. two weeks ago. Wasn't fun. Good news is that my hips are okay. Bad news is that my lowest vert. is almost crushed. Four vert. above that, which are supposed to curve, are straight. Not good. Basically told me to lose weight, even suggested bypass, or I was signing my own death certificate.

Needless to say, this guy had the personality and tact of a bug.

Not sure what I"m going to do about the weight loss surg. Scarey thought but the xrays of my back weren't pretty.

I'm back working at the hospital. On a day, off a day. Not sure how long I'll be there but I'm back on the project I worked on in the Fall. Nice to have money in my pocket and to get out of the house.

So, how is everyone? Hope everyone is doing great! Loved your comments on going blonde as you get older.

Stay warm! We're freezing here! Some guys thought it would be fun to streak through a Denny's near here. Did their run and went outside to find their car was stolen. Manager of the store locked them out in 12 degree weather, windchill was worse, and called the cops. I know I shouldn't laugh but I thought it was funny.

   Well, excuse my warped humor, but I agree with you. That is hilarious.

I guess if someone told me I was signing my own death certificate, that would probably scare me into losing weight. I hope you can find something and stick with it. I know how hard that is and it sure is easier said than done.

I also must get busy. I don't want to end up in the same dilemma. So far I need to lose about 40 pounds but I can't seem to get with the program. If I don't, I am afraid it will get worse.

Glad your hips were ok, but I will bet you are more than concerned with your back. Hope you don't have too much pain from that.

Going to have a cup of tea and watch some TV.

Hi everybody! I had decided everyone had gone away from this thread. I can't seem to find the posts before these last two, though.
Grasshopper...take care of yourself. My weight was very bad on my back. I can tell such a difference with it off. I just hope I can maintain. Sounds like you do need a different dr.
Loved the story of the streakers! :D

Happy Canuk...Good to hear from you again. I've missed everyone. I'm on a couple of other threads, but, missed my friends here.

Hello to Joanne, Silk...& all... :)

I am so glad to see that we found each other again...
Grasshopper.. Hope that you find a solution soon.. I know when the Dr. told me that I had a serious back problem and that the only thing left was surgery THAT was a wakeup call for me to get on the stick and lose the weight. I truely thought I was going to get sick..It was a fact that my knees were almost gone (one knee replacement) . I was having difficulty just getting through the day and the nights were not much better. Everything hurt.Find a support group..You will be glad you did..
Angel..I hope your Holidays were good. How is your mother doing ?
Hey Happy- It is in the 40's here at night.60's during the day. The sun was out and it was windy but to me cold. I still walked to the beach..
Rita 25lbs? You can do that!Set aside 30min.just for you. Set a time of day you are going to exercise. That is your time. Put on your music or the TV and go to it...
Bye all...Joanne

Hi Angel. Nice to see you again. I wasn't sure if we were going to keep this thread alive. Nice to see it survive.

Rita, welcome to this thread as well.

Joanne, I have been basking in nice weather - around 30F here give or take a couple of degrees. Long range says it is going to stay like this. Don't trust the weather however, as it can change rather quickly.

I will post this link here as well. Turn up your speakers and listen to this, along with a short movie. Motivational. I sure enjoyed it.

Hi!

Glad to see people still read this thread. Nice to see a new face, Rita. Welcome! Glad everyone found the streaker story funny. Still makes me laugh.

Job at the hospital is going okay. Seem to be able to work one day, come home in pain, and then take the next day off. Thank God my boss is cool about it. Just wish the job would last longer than mid Feb. Guess we'll have to see. On a postive note, a friend at work and I were talking and we're supposed to go to Weight Watchers on Sat. I need to do something......the pain killers knock me out so bad my brother refers to it as my dirt naps...(sick).

Hope everyone is staying well. How's your mom, Angel? Good to see you Canuck and Joanne!

Stay warm!!!!! :)

Grasshopper- Good for you! Get in WW and stick it out. ! I for one went and joined so many times and dropped out that it is a shame to admit it. I finally got it together and it worked for me. I hated going to those meetings for some reason. I thought I could do it on my own. It doesn't work that way. I needed the focus and reinforcement of the weekly meeting.I now go to TOPS. It is a support group. The members are great for support.
I don't like taking pain pills . It clouds my thinking. The real problem is still with me.. Since I have got the weight off,my back is better. The pain is less.I have oa so I will always have some pain.
The story about the streakers was on the news down here.
It is a beautful clear day here in Fl. Not too cool . Just right.

http://soback.kornet.net/~pixeline/heeyun/monster7.gif Good morning everyone...

Happy Canuk...that movie was beautiful! I may put it in my Christian Website that I have. I think it would be great!.

Hi Joanne....it must be nice to be in Florida today! My feet stay cold these days. That sure doesn't do much for RA or OA. Maybe spring will come soon. Hope you're feeling well. Are you getting to walk much, these days?

Grasshopper...glad you have a job you can cope better with. It's good to work with people who understand our health problems. Take care of yourself.

Hi RAR....you'll lose that weight. Just hang in there. Good to see you posting. That's one of the best things you can do for weightloss. If you need encouragement...we can all help each other.

Hi Silk...let us know how you're doing.

Well, Gina & kids left this morning for Fort Sill, Ok to get house set up for SIL to come back from Iraq. He's due back February 26th! He's been there a year. I'm happy for them...just will be nervous til he's home. Every helicoptor that tries to fly any out, seems to crash. Help us pray for them.

Hope all have a good day!http://soback.kornet.net/~pixeline/heeyun/monster2.gif

Hello Everybody...It is saturday and only7.25 in the evening.. My hubby has been sleeping since 6..I will wake him up soon to see Grand old oprey.. He probably will be up and down all night. Whats new! He does this all the time. All he has to do is sit down on his chair ,turn on Fox or CNN and he is off to sleep.
Yes Angel , I walk as often as I can. I walked my three miles again today. That is what I try to do at least 3-4 times a week. I used to do that every day. But ,this past year it seems too hard.I guess I am getting younger.
It has been a lazy day for me. I did a little laundry, sewing and the usual things we do every day.. I should have vacumned and scrubed the kitchun and bathroom. Another day.
Bye for now. I hope you all are having a great weekend...Joanne

Hi All!

Joined WW on Saturday. Think I'll do well as long as I work. The hospital cafe is pretty good and I find it easier to stay on program. Coming home, being home, is when I fall off the wagon. Need to work on that.

I've been to Ft. Sill, Angel. Nothing there. Remember thinking that when I went to visit an old boyfriend. Remember driving around the town, Lawton, and taking pictures under different stores....spelt furniture as forniture. LOL. Hey, it's the small things sometimes.

Hope everyone is doing well! And staying warm! We're due for a major snowstorm tonight.

http://www.emotipad.com/newemoticons/Hi.gifHi Grasshopper, & all...

Yep, Lawton is VERY boring!! I spent abour 4 weeks there 5 yrs ago when granddaughter was born. The winters are very rought. Like a blizzard going on the whole time I was there. That was the first time I flew in a plane. Was scared to death! After I got up in the Delta, though...it was so beautiful out the window, I forgot about being scared. Then, changed at Dallas to a small eight-seater (only 4 of us on it) that was like a small pile of junk. Got scared again! :( Chris & Gina hate it there too. He said in one of his recent emails to Gina...that he didn't think he would ever say it, but, he even missed Lawton!! That shows how miserable he is! :o
I've heard WW is different from when I joined several yrs ago. I didn't lose...rest of the family did! The girl that does my hair is doing really well with it. Good luck.
How's your back these days? Mine has done better the last couple of weeks than it's done in a long time. Nice to get a little relief.
We've got cold weather...but, only snow flurries. I'd like to see a little more.

Well, gotta go get ready for work...take care. http://www.nolamarie.net/katie/ShowLetter15.gif

Hi All!

Well, I spent 3 days in Lawton and that was enough for me! My boyfriend of that time was there for a while.......wish I had the money I spent on long distance! lol. Could have a nice chunk of change in my pocket. Oh well.

Back comes and goes. Was out on tuesday because it hurt....no work today because we got snowed in. Shame is that I was ready to go to work about an hour after everyone woke up! Terrible, I know, but I definately had cabin fever today!

Not much else to report. Hope everyone is doing well!

Hello Everybody- My back is giving me a problem. I think I just pulled something. It should be better in a few days.
Grasshopper. It is good you joined WW.. I hope you are doing well. They now Have a plan that lets you eat most everything.. It doesnt restrict you so much..Hope your back is better.
Angel- I enjoy flying. I don't seem to be so afraid. I remember once we circled for over an hour before landing . The wheels were stuck. They lady next to me was a basket case. She didn't speak to me the whole trip, but, grabbed my hand when she got scared.I am going to Az.this March for a week visit with my brother. My daughter bought the trip. I think he will take us to the Grand Canyon. I was there a couple years ago but she has never been there.
I go to tops tonight. I hope I can just stay the same(turtle).I have been sorta lax this week..
Bye...Joanne

Good luck at TOPS, Joanne! Have my second meeting tomorrow.....can't say that I was a hundred percent this week but I'll be surprised if there's no loss. Went to the store today ands stocked up on "legal" stuff so I'll have more options. Even have a friend to go with me.....I either see her at work or she calls. She's a new friend but it's nice to have someone to talk to about this. Keeps me focused.

Due for two more snowstorms by tuesday next week. Not happy about that. Took today off because of my back. Left early on thursday because my back was bugging me. Felt bad because my boss came in with a bad back......she'd pulled it shoveling snow. Oh well. The only thing I can do it take care of me.

Hope everyone has a great weekend!

Grasshopper- I lucked out and lost a pound. Now to keep it up.My problem is portion control mostly..Something for me to work on.. It is good to have someone that can help you as you try to stay legal. In the same time you could be helping them too. When I joined WW several years ago the first thing I did was feed the birds..With all the baggy foods that were not legal.. Now in my plan to lose these last few pounds I try not to eat anything white.. You will be surprised at the results..Remember ,you can eat anything you want within your points..So if you don't eat some of the allowed foods (pasta rice, potatoes, bread)it will still be ok.All you will do is lose belly fat.
My pain in the back is still hanging on. It just takes time.

Where did everybody go? It has been business as always. I had hopes of meeting my goal this week, but, it isn't going to happen. A gain is the sad facts. Back to the drawing board!!I walked yesterday. That was a first this week. I blamed it on the weather and my back. I don't really think that is a good enough excuse.
I am going to see Willie Nelson tonight.. I hope he is still good.
Send me some good vibes. I need them...Joanne

Hi,
Glad to see postings. I had checked back a few times, with no new posts. So, thought maybe it had been desserted. I missed you, my friends. I wonder what happened to Silk??? She hasn't been back since the crash. I hope she's ok.

SIL was to leave Iraq coming back last night, but haven't heard from him. Did find out he wouldn't be going straight to Oklahoma as planned. But, to Kuwait, then later to U.S., then to Oklahoma in a few days. Gina should have heard from him at least, though, by now. I'm getting concerned.

Joanne I hope your back is better. Are you getting to walk any lately? I think about your beach a lot. Seems like it would be so peaceful. I could forget some of my many problems.

Grasshopper hope your back problem has lightened up. The only snow we've had are flurries. But, very cold weather!
It's getting late. I've got a treatment tomorrow to prepare for. I'm already very weak, so probably will take awhile to get back to norm. (whatever that is!) Take care.... http://www.eakles.com/136preciouscouple.gif

Angel- Like you I have checked back several times and found no one here. I know we all have busy lives. At least most do. I for one can make my own time. I do manage to stay busy. I will always be finding time to come here. I have been walking out to the beach as often as I can . The weather this time of the year dictates a schedule. I try to go most days and do walk 3 miles when I do. It always relaxes me. You can't help but renew yourself when you are walking along a beach.I have been working towards my goal. It is a step forward and two steps back this week. We ate out 3 times this week and that always sets me back no matter how careful I try to be..This week my back seems to be a little better. Who knows what next week will bring. Hopefully better.
Grasshopper - How is it going at WW. I hope you are doing well.
I went to see Willie Nelson last night. It was an enjoyable 2 hours. I an amazed at how good his voice still is. We like country music and get our weekly fix every saturday night via Nashville. Grand old Oprey, We usually watch the country music shows that are on TV.
Have a Good Week.

Hi All,

Sorry I've been MIA - AGAIN. Hasn't been a good few weeks. My little sister, who is mentally retarded, was struck in a hit and run accident on Superbowl Sunday. I've been living at the hospital and inhaling food. Not good for me. Just wanted to say "hi" and let you know that I'm still around.

My sister has had surg. and is doing a little better. Rehab will be a long road.....she's fighting us on a lot of things. Right now the family is considering filing for guardianship. I don't like to do this but she needs the help.

Going to be a rough couple of months ahead. Say a prayer for me.

Hope everyone is doing well. Hope your SIL return is great! What a great Valentines gift.....little late but great all the same. :)

Grasshopper...so sorry about your sister. She & all your family will be in my prayers. Take care of yourself during this rough time. http://www.harrythecat.com/graphics/b/flower21.gif

Joanne...Glad you enjoyed Willie Nelson. I've always enjoyed his singing. I've seen a lot of the country singers in person...but, not him.

SIL should be flying out of Kuwait today to the States. Don't know where...just where ever there's a fight. Then, he'll find a flight to Lawton, Oklahoma where Gina is. Yes, would be nice if home by Valentine's Day. That's when he came home from Korea after being gone a year, also. He hadn't been in war, though. Quite different. Hope he's ok....& doesn't have a bad time coping. He was over several of the men who were killed. Including the one in the helicopter that was shot down that was getting to go home to see his wife & new baby. Pray for him.

Gotta go get ready for beauty shop appt. Gotta get beautiful! (I'm afraid it would take more than beauty shop! :^: ) http://www.countryclipart.com/WildFlowSet/bucketflwrspilled.gif

Grasshopper- Your family and sister will will be in my prayers.. Sometimes we have to put emotion aside and do what is the best thing for our family member when they are not able to make the right judgements.. It is not easy but something that has to be done..I had a bad week with my eating this past week .It showed up at the scales.
Angel- It is such a great time when the men can come home from that awful place, if only for a short time. I hate to watch the news ,because every day some of our boys are killed. I try to stay realistic . My G/Sone will going back that way probably by the later part of the year. I thank God every day that he joined the Navy and not the Army. My nephew is soon to make Col. in the army. His father thinks that he will be sent there. He tells me maybe he will be in the Pentagon.I hope so.
I hope you all have a Happy Valentines Day. Joanne :)

Hi All,

No new news on my sister. Not really sure what to do. She doesn't want my help, is really nasty and up front about that, but I think she needs it. Me? I've been stressed and eating everything in sight. Will have to play it by ear.

Angel, hope your SIL got back okay.......even better if it was in time for Valentines :)

Hi..... SIL got home on Valentine's Day!! At 7:30pm last evening! I got to talk to him about an hour ago. He sounded so good. Gina said he had lost a LOT of weight. Was very tired...jet lagged, of course...but, looked great! We feel so relieved.
Yes, I'll be glad when they're all home. Chris's dad is going this week. He's been in Kentucky in training since Thanksgiving. It was a surprise to all, as he's retired, but in reserves. Mixed emotions for his family. He comes back, but his dad leaves.
Joanne, if I knew you had relatives going over there, I had forgotten. I will be holding them up in my prayers. Yes, I check the computer each morning to see what went on the night before. Usually have a few tears to shed for the soldiers & their families as I read of more being killed. Freedom is NOT free. We have courageous military fighting....& some paying the ultimate price!

Grasshopper...Still praying for your sister. And for you. I'm concerned that you're going to get down. I would say don't worry about your eating. Only thing...it's going to be worse on your back if you gain weight. Do take care of yourself. :)

Well...had a treatment this week...so, still tire easily. I have some pics on another thread, if you want to see them. The board will only let us post each pic once. I don't understand that, but, I can give the link.
We got our first real snow today. I got excited & took pics before any lay on the ground! One is the mailbox where the yellow ribbon stayed for a year for Chris. I'm going to take it down & replace it with a new one for his dad & rest of the military. Other ones are DH & I last night as we were about to go out to eat. He sent me the flowers to the TV station!

I just replaced the yellow ribbon on my lamp post this week. The other one had faded and got ragged. The boys are still there. We burn a light in our front window every night for a while for them. Red for our g/son ,white for the shipmates, and blue for the ship..
Angel I am glad to hear your sil is home and doing well. I hope they all will be home soon.It really doesn't look like that is going to happen this year.
Grasshopper. I hope your sister is doing better. I hope you are back with your program. I read today that a 30 minute walk every day is really good for us mentally and physically. I don't always get out everyday anymore but as often as I can,3-4 times a week.I always walk for an hour..Maybe that will make up for the 30 minutes a day.
I lost another 1 1/2 lbs this past week. Now the trick is to not gain it back.

Grasshopper...how is your sister? I hope things are better with her. Hope your back is holding up also. We've had a beautiful week with weather, so that helps my aches & pains.

Joanne...I'm going to replace the yellow ribbon on our mailbox, also. I can't think to buy it, until I'm back from town each time. Old age! Spring is finally coming....your beach will probably get crowded for awhile!http://www.countryclipart.com/SewBearSet/sewbearangel.gif
