I think I've read the book thoroughly but don't see where it ever says how many calories/carbs you can have per day. Does anyone know?

Nope - the beauty of the plan is that we don't have to count anything. Just stick to reasonable servings of the foods on the allowed list and you'll be fine. If you plateau later on, run your food through www.fitday.com to get an idea of whether you are eating too many calories.

I've done WW four, maybe five times. While I still tend to weigh & measure certain things (a good habit for any diet plan, don't you think?), I've relished the freedom from logging, journaling, counting, tracking, and all that other crap.

The other thing I'd say is to LISTEN to your body!!! Eat slowly. Avoid eating in front of the TV when you can. I learned a trick a few months back that has been interesting. When you eat, there's invariably a point during your meal when, towards the end, you have this deep, satisfying "SSSSIIIIIIGGGGGGHHHHHHHHH" When that happens, stop eating!! I used to think that was my body telling me, "You're almost full--but you can eat a little more if you want"--and that was on the rare occasion that I was actually paying attention to what my body was telling me! Now, I realize that that's one way our bodies tell us, "Enough! STOP! No more!"

Try it. Just pay attention. :)

I have also found that it helps to put down your fork after every bite. That's also a good time to take a sip of water -- we need to take in a lot of water. I find that after 20 minutes I still have a good bit of food on my plate, but everyone else in the family is finished and ready to leave the table. I usually take what is left on my plate and wrap it up for tomorrow's lunch.
