Here is a new thread.............:D

Got DS some cookies baked and DH wanted some for his dad and brother that is in the
alcohal rehab unit at the hospital and then got my zucchini shredded and frozen , ran out of flour so I couldn't make
my bread! Mopped the dogs room, gave her a massage and her medicine, brushed the cats
and have laundery in and made a zucchini and tomato casserole, and cut up more cucumbers to
put in vinegar. You think I would be tired but now I'm anxious...getting ready for our trip to
Iowa on Friday too. Just an average day here..sounds like huh! Oh and I cleaned my
kitchen after the cookies and then decided to do the garden produce and made a mess again so
it got cleaned twice!

Ate too many cookies too!

Ally..we sound as if we are both healthy..so what the heck are we in so much pain for...........:yikes:

Meme..you poor ankle...can dH rub it for you or does that hurt too?

Mima..9 hrs...sleep can do wonders!

Fall is just around the corner!;)

Meme your poor little G/daughter must have felt terrible. Hope you can find some relief for your pain. I have had it in my neck for over a week..
Candice -You are a busy bee. I wish I had your energy..Enjoy your trip.
Ally -The new breed of Dr.'s do seem really young. Maybe I am getting really old..I hope not!I saw in the paper that part of their exams is bed side manner. So when they start flirting and being really nice I know it is to inhance their pocket book.  I have seen some really nasty attitudes. In my years of nursing I learned to bite back.
Mima- Glad you are feeling better..

NONONO... Hubby can't rub it! Can't stand for anyone else to touch it!!! If it gets twisted the wrong way I go into fits!!!

No, Joanne ... Jenna didn't feel bad ... I didn't let her. I told her it wasn't her stepping on it. I told her it was just a dumb ole' ankle and it just hurt when it wasn't supposed to hurt for no dumb reason and I was getting really tired of it! I yelled ... but I yelled at my ankle, not at the baby!!! Never, ever at the baby. She didn't mean to step on me, she stumbled. I swear that is the clumsiest child I've ever seen. She can just be walking across the floor and fall over NOTHING! It got some better and we went shopping about 6. I just didn't get to finish all my housework.

I laid down this afternoon and about 45 minutes after I fell asleep my foot 'drew' (for lack of a better word) down so fast my ankle snapped and hurt so bad it woke me up. I thought it broke. It wasn't like a foot or a leg cramp at all ... it was just like some one had taken my foot in their hand and bent it down hard and then turned it loose. It hurt so bad it brought tears to my eyes. I was stunned. Can you imagine being woke out of sleep by something like that??? 'Bout scared me to death. I was telling a friend at church about it and she said her mother had rheumatoid arthritis and her feet did that and so did her fingers. WONDERFUL!!!

Hope you all have a Non-Laborious Labor Day!!! ;) I'm not planning on doing anything tomorrow. Hubby is working on the new church building and I'm going to be alone all day. (again!!!) I'm going to sleep, read and watch TV! (And try not to eat!)

You can see our new building here:
http://www.111fellowship.com/GROW.html
That was taken a couple of weeks ago, they have more finished now. I'm going to take pictures when they get it finished. We're supposed to have the dedication service in 2 weeks ... I keep telling them they're going to have to work a lot harder if they're going to have it finished by then!!! :o

Meme-have you had an xray-probably have-talked to my DIL yesterday-she says she's nauseous all day and tired-I actually think that is good because when I didn't , I had a miscarriage. They are going to the doc on Wednesday and he's sort of a specialist for people who have had problem pregnancies. First time the doc didn't do the alpha-protein test or they would have known Alison had spina bifida-not that it would have mattered. I talked to her yesterday and she's all interested in an audition for a performing arts school next April-she also wants to see her interim report card because she is doing so well. She has mixed emotions about the baby but then again , she is 13. They always have had foster children so another child is probably no big deal. I will be happy to get a doc's report this week. I want to get excited but I'm afraid to. Hope everyone is doing ok. Candice, you really are domestic. I am so bored with my cooking-time to get out the recipe book. Gottago-hubby just got up, I did get 8 hours of sleep last night. These are records for me. Mima

I had an Xray last Oct. That's one of the things I was so mad at that last specialist about. He just looked at a yr. old Xray and didn't even take a new one. Some specialist, huh? They SAY it's Osteo ... and I'm sure that's part of it but I'm still saying that Rheumatoid is what's making it hurt so bad.

I could use some new recipes, too. If you find any good ones in there share them!!! Maybe we could exchange. I got stuff to make Spaghetti Cassarole and Tacos this week. Been awhile since we've had those. I also bought a ham ... I can usually get two or three meals out of one of those. I love leftovers!!! :p

Haven't had a chance to read the thread yet. Just came back from a quick holiday out to the westcoast. Beautiful weather and terrific scenery. Now, I am tired from the trip, but that will pass in a couple of days.

I hope you have all been well.

Anagram - I know you will be going through the grieving process and I know how hard that is. One day at a time.

Meme - hope you are feeling better.

Hi Joanne, Ally and Candice. Have some reading to do, but it will have to wait until tomorrow.

MIMA … HERE’S 32 DINNERS:

Spaghetti casserole & salad
Hungary Jack casserole w/combo potatoes
Chicken casserole
Chicken fried rice
Stuffed Peppers
Cabbage beef soup
Vegetable soup & Grilled cheese sandwiches
Tacos
Chili & Hot Dogs
Chicken Salad
Beef stew
Salmon
Shrimp & salad (or other fish: Bass or Walleye hubby caught)
Meat loaf
Fried chicken
BBQ chicken
BBQ Ribs (I like the country ribs)
Chicken & Dumplings & Pinto Beans
Grilled chicken
Chicken grill bag
Roast or Baked Chicken (stuffed or not)
Roast or Baked turkey (stuffed or not)
Chicken liver
Fried ham
Baked ham
Sloppy Joes
Hamburgers
Hamburger steaks smothered in onions
Grilled steak
Grilled Pork chops
Beef roast
Pork roast

I fix either baked or mashed potatoes or potato salad, stovetop dressing, salads or coleslaw, baked or green beans and other sides. I get the grill bags at Wal Mart. They are really neat if you’ve never used one. You just put your meat in first and then your veggies on top, turn the end down and lay them on the grill or in your oven and grill (or bake.) Your whole meal is in one bag. The combo potatoes are baking potatoes sliced with onion slices placed between the potato slices then they’re put back together and wrapped in foil with a pat of butter and salt and baked. If you would like any of the other recipes, just let me know. We usually eat out on Sundays and sometimes on Friday nights so this is more than enough for a different meal each night for a month. Hope this helps give you all some ideas. Now … what do you all eat??? :p

Thanks Meme-I've used the cooking bags but in the oven which is not working well right now and we are having company in 2 weeks so I have to come up with something. We only eat low fat and I can't eat spaghetti sauce too much or wheat or milk but I cheat. Actually I made the homestly bake chicken with biscuits last night and it was good. Tell me about using the cooking bags on the grille. I know they work good. Thanks again Meme. and for all those great jokes. Hope your foot gets better,
Goping to doc today and he will tell me what to do about high cholesterol.I talked to my step-grandaughter last night and her mother is also pregnant and SGD also has a sister with spina bifida who was put in a foster home, This was from drinking -all of it and first test showed abnormal for alpha-protein but they said it was too early. Sad-sad-sad!!I haven't seen Jessica very much since I got married but we have plans for an outing and I resolve to see her more. I always wanted to be a good influence on her biut can't be if I don't see her. So I will. Her father lives with my son so she;s there quite often. So I will get to see my son too.
Anne-so good to hear from you. Hi Joanne, Candice, Ally, Anagram.Candice, are you maintaining your weight or still losing, I have been very good. And going for a walk every day. We will see if it shows up on the scale Friday. Mima

Move over Meme-2 more meds added yesterday. One is to lower chol.-it's not a statin so it's not supposed to give me stomache pains-other is an antidepressant to take at night so my muscles will relax and I'll have less pain. And for 2 weeks I take Didronel for osteoporosis-We'll see!! But I was awake at 4:45 this am. It's going to be a long day!!!Gonna get my hair cut and frosted and may go for a walk with Auntie but I may not go-still sneezing from my cold. They have a new baby so I don't want to infect them. Babies!!!Son and his wife are going to doc's today for first time. The doc is a specialist so that will be good. Bye for now. Mima

What's the antidepressant he put you on?

The grill bag is used on the grill just like it's used in the oven. You just put your meat on the bottom and put your veggies on top of your meat and lay it on the grill. Turn your grill burners between medium and low if you have a gas grill and put the top down and leave it alone for about 45 minutes and your meal is done. If you sprinkle a tiny bit of flour (tiny being the operative word) in the bottom of the bag the meat doesn't stick. I like to use some onions in there as well ... gives flavor. I use cauliflower, some potato slices, onion slices, broccoli, zucchini and maybe a few carrots although they are hard to get done. I get the extra large grill bags and usually put large chicken breasts in the bottom. A couple of those feeds a crowd and all you have to add is rolls and a salad.

I take it at 7 and then take Desyrel when I go to bed but I have been waking up very early so I don't know if it works yet. I feel relaxed after I take it though. Candice-good for you!!!! I maintained on WW for a year and then I got married, Doing pretty good this week and walking-yesterday with auntie. I am going to do a wreath workshop at church today -everyone that called me seems to be older but I am too. Patience!!We also got a call that the people we bought the trailer from have the title so we may be able to get it this weekend. At least I can put some stuff in it and then put it away leisurely. And my DIL didn't get to doc'e yesterday because he didn't take their insurance. So now she has to make another appt. with someone else. he owns his own business so they have different insurance. Watch the scale with that anti-depressant Mima. Also see if your cravings for carbs increase. I took Paxil and I admit that a lot of my muscle pain went away. But I ate sugar like it was going out of style. If I ate sugar like that right now I would not be able to walk. But when I was taking Paxil I had no pain, so I just kept shoving sugar in my mouth.
Anyone have an underactive thyroid??? I have been losing a ton of hair. I have long brown hair so I keep getting it cut thinking maybe it is just getting heavier or older...but now that my bathroom floor is white, I notice it and it is always attaching itself to the sink and toilet and it has been going on long enough that I can see my hair thinning on my head. I am having a fasting blood test on Sat but just wondered if any of you had that. Together here we have just about every other ailment :dizzy:
Now, using progesterone cream did the trick. My period wasn't early, I am bleeding heavy but that means I will be done with it soon. Last few months I swear it had it for ten days.....

I did that (do that) from taking the Methotrexate. I wore wigs all year last year. I found this stuff I put on my hair now that makes it look thicker and fills in the spots where there isn't any hair...of which I now have THREE. I used to wear my hair long, too. I could sit on it when I was younger...then fibro happened and I could no longer deal with it. Now it's really short because I just don't do hair anymore. (I don't DO much of anything anymore!) :p

Hi All. Mima, are you taking the anti-depressant for depression or for sleep. I took 10mg of amitriptilyne for sleep and it was ok, although I did crave sweets more.

Meme and Ally - I have really thick hair. I could stand to lose half of it and still be considered normal:lol: I wear it short and it has wonderful body to it, so I don't have to do much with it. When I was younger I wore it down to my shoulders but it weighed so much. I did it because it looked great. Now, I don't care about the look, just the ease of looking after it.

My aunt, that has MS, is quite bald on top and she wears a hairpiece always.

Hi Candice, Anagram and Joanne. Hope you ladies are having nice weather. Here it is fantastic - except for the fires that are buring in British Columbia. They are terrible.

Haven't noticed an increase in sugar cravings but have a little less pain. We got our new camper registered and it's coming tomorrow, I'll be happy to put all the stuff I've accumulated in it then I can put it away at my leisure. Hello Everybody...Bermuda sure took a pounding! I didn't realize that island is only 7 miles wide/long? We in Fl. dodged the bullet. Our little storm dropped rain mostly. We got about 2 inches in my area.
Mima - A change in medication will cause wt. gain or no loss. An open house should help Tops get some members. Ofcourse the end of summer might help. I think people tend to not worry so much about their wt. in the summer. I will probably have a gain this week. I bet you will really enjoy your camper...

Not doing hair again today (or much of anything else) !!! :p It is raining ... not a good fibro day. I went to sleep at 4 and woke up at 6. Got up and stayed up until hubby got up and left to work on the church building. Then layed back down. Feel drugged. (Oh ... I guess that's because am drugged ... I forgot ... I took some Pain Meds.) :dizzy:

Went to dinner with some friends last night ... that was nice. We went to the boat dock and had cat fish. Restauant floats on the lake. Then we came back here and had dessert. I went to Shoney's yesterday and bought a huge strawberry pie and some whipped cream and the four of us almost demolished it. So long diet!!! I saved up all day for it, though ... and only had one meal the day before. I'm not doing any good anyway. Can't lose weight if you can't move! I lose a pound or two one week and gain it back the next. Just holding my own. I wear a lot of black and navy! :s:

I was doing well on healthy eating then I started driving back an forth to take care of my aunt and would eat at McDonalds. Finally I am sick of McDs but still have to eat somewhere.
My aunt is in rehab. When I got there today all the wheelchairs were lined up for lunch. This whole lineup of old ladies mostly asleep and second from last was my poor aunt. She is so competant and on top of things. I looked at her and she just winked at me. I feel so bad for her. She is only there for a few more weeks but this has been so hard on her....
Gotta go see what else I can eat before the British Comedies start. Have a good week ladies!!!

Ally, I have an underactive thyroid and have been onSynthroid for about a year. Prior to that I've lost a lot of hair in the front/top of my head. Like Anne, I had had a really full head of hair with lots of body. I don't think I'm losing as much now as I had been before Synthroid but it's still not what it was.

Before I knew about the thyroid, I thought I was losing because I had taken so many meds the past few years. I think that's also still a possible cause in my case.

I have a low thyroid and have been on meds for quite a few years-I had a low body temp and was tired all the time. It's quite common in women.I don't know what's going on=new meds make me feel better but I keep waking up at night. But did sleep til 5:30. Sorry about you not getting sleep Meme-it's a bummer. Church starts an hour later today so have lots of time to relax before we leave-and the weather has been gorgeous. Hi everyone and bye for now. Mima

Last night I dreamed I had aids. BA........D dream! The good thing is that I don't have as much pain. I did yard work yesterday and don't think I am in half the pain as I usually am. Poor Ally!

Mima ... I know you'll be glad when that's all over. I went through the same thing last spring. Your dog was probably shaking from nerves instead of from cold. My poodle used to do that. If you'll talk clamly to them and pet them ... try to keep your hand on their head, too... it usually helps to keep them calmed down so they don't shake as bad. A lot of pets are nervous when getting bathed or groomed or anything different. My poodle also shook the same way when I took her to the vet. My golden ... now that's a different story. She LOVES a bath and she also loves the vet. She pulls me into his office and can't wait to see him. She's all over his assistants ... licking them in the face, etc. and they can't wait to see her, too. I board her there a lot and they say she's their favorite. They play with her, baby her and walk her, etc. Every time hubby lets the tail gate on his truck down she tries to jump up there ... she thinks he's going to groom her. (that's where he puts her to brush her ... so he can reach her without bending down.) She's a riot. NOT your normal dog!!!

I went to lunch with Paula and I'm stuffed. Had a chicken salad sandwich and fries (just ate a little over half). That's all I've had today. I stoped at Sub Way and picked up subs for dinner. I won't be able to eat my 1/2 turkey sub until 7 or 8 tonight judging from the way I feel right now. Had to meet our pastor and pick out carpet for church.

Headache ... think I'll lay down a few minutes ... just an hour 'till time to teach.

Joanne D

Ally- The best part of fasting for a blood draw is going to the lab that was there the time before and finding out it has moved. Just a ph.# So then you call and go looking. By that time the waiting room is full and you wait an hour to get your turn. Traffic in my area is awful, you can guess the fit I am having at mid morning and all you have had is a black coffee. (decaf)!!!Too late usually to go for breakfast. Your whole day is messed up...
Mima - I used to have a Peke for 14 years. Every week I bathed and groomed him. He had really long thick coat. Took me an hour at the least. I used warm water and he took it well until he got old. He would try to bite me everytime. A tap on the knose settled him down but you could tell he really wanted to take a piece out of me. He went deaf and blind and incontinent. We had to put him down. He was full of arthritis and could hardly walk. I no longer have a desire for pets. My sons lad will do fine..He lives with him...
Meme-I like Subway too. They have the best bread.. I am a bread addict anyhow.. I love to go over to Tampa and buy cuban bread. I just can't do it because I eat too much of it..
Anagram- I think that the struggle we have to go through to lose weight is terrible. All the medications make it so hard.. It is no wonder so many of us can't reach our goals...Is things getting easier?
Hello Happy- It must be getting cooler up your way?
Hello Candice...How are You?//

Hi fibropals. Hope you are all feeling better. I have been having a few days of not feeling so well. That darn FM - pain in every muscle area and fatigue. Much better today, so perhaps I am over the worst of it this time.

Ally - That would really make me mad - fasting and no where to go!! I think if you have to take Synthroid you won't just lose weight automatically - you will STILL have to work at it

Meme - Still going full steam ahead. Are you still heading away on holidays next month?

Joanne - yes, the weather has definitely changed. Yesterday it was almost 90 and today it was in the low 60 and tomorrow it will be into the 50's. After that, it is supposed to be average and be in the low 70's, at least for a couple of days, and then I believe it is going to get colder. I love Fall, just don't care for the long winter ahead. Although I feel better in the cold than the heat.

Mima - you will get those renos done yet. Did you get your trailer all fixed up? Maybe you can take a trip up to Canada and come see me. That would sure be nice.

Anagram - this dieting is the most frustrating thing to do. You lose, you take pain meds, you stand still, you gain, you lose and the cycle goes on. I hope that things are going better for you now.

Hope you all have a wonderful day .

NONONO ... NOT going full steam ANYWHERE!!! I HAVE TUCKED MY FEET UNDER ME AND QUIT! I told you I was going to become a recluse...remember? Well, I almost have!

I bought an ankle brace and wore it to bed last night. It really helped. I slept better. When my foot started to draw my ankle around (about 6 or 7 times) and woke me up, the brace stopped it before it got too bad. It still hurt but at least it wasn't too bad and I was able to go back to sleep. Before it hurt so bad I couldn't and I was up the rest of the night in pain! Hope it keeps on working!!!

The trip was hard to make for DH and I both and I am still not recovered, lots of pain and anxiety has set in and so much to do now that we are home:eek:

The "White Coat Ceremony" was wonderful and so moving..boy doctors have a lot to learn!!!!!!!!(no pun intended);) The tour of my sons apt., campus and town was really fun and we got just a tad of shopping in. I walked the tredmill at the hotel and made good food choices and had tons of healthy snacks with us. I cried when we had to say good bye..the first time one of my kids is that far from home. Hey Anne-that would be fun!!The trailer is not fixed up-I am involved in so many things right now like the church bazaar-I made 3 wreaths yesterday-today I walk with Auntie. Got a picture of the new baby , 9 weeks in the womb. Even my son is amazed at the technology today. He said the head was big but that's the way they look at 9 weeks. Hope DIL feels better soon. Didn't take that new med last night and ache like a fool today. I still kept waking up all night but went right back to sleep. But then it's the full moon. I had a dream my sister-in-law was pregnant and going to miscarry. She's only 56 of course. Weird!!!Carpenter is coming today and I almost have a new closet lined with cedar board. Candice ... sounds like you had fun ... too bad we have to pay for our fun isn't it! :( We are going to Gulf Shores, AL on vacation Oct. 4th and I'm looking forward to it but dreading the trip soooo bad! That's a LOOOONG 8 hr. car trip with 4 adults and 2 little kids ... especially with Ross!!! :o He'll have to be medicated!!! And Jenna is only 4. It's going to be rough. I'LL have to be medicated!!! :p We're supposed to drive all the way down on Sat., unload at the condo, then drive 20 miles back to Wal Mart and shop for a weeks worth of groceries and drive back to the condo and put them all away ... all that in one day ... leaving here at 4 a. m. I'll never make it! We can't stop and get them on the way in ... won't have room in the van. I'll need the rest of the week to recoup from the trip down! :^:

Meme- Just sit back and try to enjoy your trip. After you get there and get your second wind, let everybody take care of themselves and you do the same..Have a good vacation...
Mima- The Dr. gave me a mood elevator once. He said it would help my pain. I had strange dreams that were disturbing to say the least. I had a heck of a time waking up in the am. I said to heck with this. My pain was no better. I told him I would not take it.. I don't like anything like that. I think I have told other people this..All medication has side effects. Even so far as years down the road... I took a pharmacy course once that really opened my eyes...In fact I have taken more than one of those courses. They can be scarey.
Happy- It is still 90 degrees here. I would be wrapped in a blanket too if it was in the 50's here. A Dr. told me once that a harmone depletion is what causes us to feel the weather changes like we do. Well ,I can't take harmones so I will just wrap up.
Candice - It is hard seeing our children grow up and leave us... When my daughter moved to North Fl. and my son went away to school ,I was very lonely for them..I still miss my daughter and only see her about every 3 months or so . My son now lives in the area. I talk to them often. My hubby fusses about the long distance charges but, that is too bad..

I do have to say, that considering everything and with all the rain and all this summer, I have been having less pain than I would have expected. Fatigued all the time of course and have discomfort but saw dr. last week and he commented on how little swelling I'm having.

Pool at rehab is closed for renovations and I don't know for how long. I miss that nice warm water and gentle movement already.

Hope you enjoy your trip, Meme - maybe the other 3 adults and the kiddies can do the grocery trip and let you have some rest and peace for a bit? Mima - I need so many things done here and reading of your things getting done makes me think it's time to soon bite the bullet and start at getting estimates at least.

Another good eating day for me but, as Joanne says, it's still hard to lose. I guess I'm just happy not be leaning on food for comfort as much as I used to. I'd sure have eaten a ton recently.

Good morning! I was in so much pain yesterday-that pill really helps-that I took one earlier to see if that would be better-woke up for about 2 hours in middle of night but no crazy dreams. And pain not so bad. We'll see how I will handle it. I have an interview today to volunteer tutoring, Only 2 hours a week. And only til DEc because after that we hit the road. Carpenter is coming this morning-he's so dependable even if he is slow. Should have my new closet today. Cedar lined. That is so wonderful about your son Candice!!!!I remember when my kids went off to school-one to NY state-one to Michigan-the other to Boston-it was an exciting time and I was so proud of them. By the time they all graduated, I was 60 and ready to be alone. But I'm not anymore-what a difference between being single and married with a house. Sure keeps you busy. Maybe projects are what you need Anagram. After all the grief you have had. Glad about your foot brace, Meme. I love this weather !!Even though I had to put the heat on this am. Hi Ally, Joanne, Anne. and all. Mima

Going out to dinner tonight with friends who will celebrate their 50th anniversary on Friday. Then going to DDs on Sunday to go out to lunch for my Monday birthday. Moderation, moderation!

I think it's such an exciting time when your kids are away getting their educations. Of course, mine never came home but it was all still exciting. I'm sure you're going to have many exciting moments, Candice, with your son in med school.

And it was a great time for dh and I as well. Did a lot of travelling with him during that time. Sure glad I did it then. Not up to it most of the time now. But hope to spend the two months in FL this year. Really missed it last year when we couldn't go.

Today was a good day for dh. He mowed lawn this morning. Then while I was napping this afternoon, he sneaked out and cut some shrubbery. Said he was glad he felt up to doing it. I guess "me too" but hate to see him overdo. I guess the procrit shots are helping a bit. Today was shot day again. Beginning to feel like a regular nurse, did it so routinely today.

Now I know I was with you ladies a year ago because I remember Candice's hubby's birthday last year.

Well happy birthday ahead Anagram. Carpenter and husband finished new cedar-lined closet yesterday and I quickly hung everything up. AND IT ALL FELL DOWN!!!!So it's back on the bed and Brad has to figure something out. But I do think I overlaoded it. Won't do that again. Have to bring dog to vet because he keeps licking a sore spot . And then I am going to inventory the contents of brad's mother's house. And and and......I feel like you Meme. I am involved in so many things this month. Next month easier. Bye for now Mima

Well, my son was here but I way over did...ended up cleaning for 8 hrs:eek: , he did lift most the heavy stuff, so much to put back into place after they got the bed in. ( I was sorting through some of the stuff my son that went off to school left and shredding his bills and stuff.) It got to where my hips were saying no more stairs! My cleaning help comes on Monday but I had the sweeper out for the bedroom so I did everything else. I might have her help me tackle the basement when she comes before it gets to cold to work down there. Then there is the outside stuff, I'm tired of looking at the worn out plants!

My eating is going well and I'm sure all this not sleeping is burning calories too! Any of you know what it means when you get really irritable when you cut back on carbs. I am told that I have been that way!!!!!!!:D Snapping at everyone I guess! I checked my food journal and yes I'm short on carbs! (good for the waist line but not for me!) Just call me snippy ;)

I know you go into a depression when you cut out sugar. Well, I have to get eighed in this am and we are having an open house. I look good by=ut the scale is up-that new med. Trade off-I don't ache 75 % as much. But.... Cravings and weight gain. But it's so nice not to be in such pain. I didn't take it one day and boy did I feel it. Dog is on drugs-the vet bill came to $23after flea med. heartworm, and 2 prescriptions cuz he scratched himself into severe irritation. I didn't know he had fleas. Next time I am going to use Frontline even if it's expensive. Because 200 every summer is too much besides his pain. But he's funny on the med. A little crazed. Brad is trying to finish my new cedar close. Everything fell down because it couldn't hold the weight. Bye for now. Mima

Mima...are you saying your vet bill was only $23??? WOW! I pay more than that just to walk in the door at my vets office! Surely that isn't right! You must have left off a zero or something cuz I use Advantage on Sami and that alone is nearly $30.

Candice... WHY OH WHY DO WE DO THAT??? :?: We get started and just don't know when to stop. I do the same thing. Then we wind up spending a week in bed when it's all over. DUMBDUMBDUMB (AND DUMBER)! :p I'm getting to where I can't go all day like I used to, though. Yesterday I went to Cookeville and made 4 stops and then picked Jenna up from PreSchool... when I got home she wanted to get in the tub (right now! ;) ) but I couldn't do another thing. I had to sit down. I told her she would just have to wait. She has to have everything "right now" or she gets all "up-a-set"! It's tough being four! Paula is in Chattanooga until tomorrow so she's here for a couple of days. Mark can't handle Jenna and Ross both. (That is hard to do!!!)

Happy Happy Birthday on Monday Anagram ... Hope you have a good time Celebrating!!! :hb: Don't eat too much! :D

Just a spot of rain here so far. I made DH's cake and am putting chicken breasts in the crock pot..trying to make it simple.

You won't believe this but a girl (drunk )was going 90 mPH (on a resisedential busy street at 4AM and hit a parked car by my sons house and flew into some wood buildings and hit his car in the driveway, just missing his bedroom and tore up his front yard...she has no insurance either! Hope they throw her in jail!

Got into some more cookies I purchased for DH at the craft mall..homemade! but still ok pts wise if I don't each much more!

Crazy-sorry about that Candice. Did anyone see DR. Phil last night. Pretty good-I would love to read his book. We went out to eat last night and I didn't really overdo it. Brought half the fis home but did have some dessert. We had our open house yesterday and only 2 people came but we did a nice job. Let's see if they come back. Company tomorrow so I have to clean this am but then I'm going to pick up step-grandaughter and probably go to movies and out to eat. She's 15 and a half and what a difficult age. So far she didn't like any of my movie suggestions. The vet bill was $234-I didn't proofread my post!!!!We are suppossed to give him a flea bath this morning and put the drops on tomorrow, It's so funny giving him the meds. I sneak it in some cheese but if he spits it out, i have to put it in peanut butter on bread. I need a day off-I am as busy as I was when I was working. Have a good weekend . Mima

Mima..that sounds aobut right for the vet! Pets are expensive if you take care fo them right! I was DR. Phil...enjoyed it very much but I already knew most of what he was saying even the tips they gave us!

Well DH's BD was quiet but nice, The cake is so yummy and DQ ice cream too! Gonna have to tape my mouth shut I guess! I made a new Chicken recipe from Martha Stewart, really good.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY ANAGRAM
I HOPE YOUR DAY IS THE BEST ONE OF THIS YEAR...Go somewhere and have a nice meal and enjoy every bite... Have a cake...Do only the things you want to do..
Mima- I don't watch Dr. Phill.. I am really not a fan of his...
Vet bills are the worst. They almost cost as much as Dr. bills for humans if not more. That is one of the reasons we no longer have a pet..
My daughter talked me into buying the South Beach Diet book.. It is interesting. I am going to try and not eat carbs and see what happens. If it bothers me I'll might just reduce them and go to phase 2...Carbs are my weak spot anyhow...
Candice- Thank God your son wasn't in his car or in the area.. Hope she went to jail..
My eating has been out of control for over a week. I will try to be very strick for awhile. I told my hubby that the house was being cleared of all his junk and he was going on a strick eating plan with me. He yelled! Toooooooo BaaaaaaD!!!!!!!!
Hello Ally ,Meme, Happy....Hope you all are well,
Joanne

The South Beach Diet... That's just like Atkin's except it's just really strict for a couple of weeks and then you start adding the carbs back ... right? You are supposed to lose 8 - 13 pounds the first couple of weeks and then you add the carbs back slowly the next 4 weeks until you are eating normally again (whatever the heck normal is!!!) :p In all the years I've been dieting, I've never really figured that out (normal, that is). I don't like eating breakfast most of the time. A lot of the time I'm not hungry at lunch time so if normal is 3 'balanced' meals a day that lets me out!

I read in 'Woman's World' magazine yesterday about a diet these women were doing (a Dr/nutritionist figured it out) where you eat an apple about 30 minutes before each meal and you lose huge amounts of weight. Something about the pectin in the apples. Here's an excerpt from the article.

"Three apples will increase your daily fiber consumption by about 15 grams, and Tufts University researchers have found that folks who added just 14 grams of the tummy-filling stuff automatically reduced their calorie consumption by 10%. And the soluble fiber in apples, called pectin, has even more power to kill appetites than ordinary fiber. Pectin eliminates the urge to eat for up to four hours, according to a study published in the Journal of the American College of Nutrition.
The reason? Laboratory tests have demonstrated that pectin, which is used as a thickener in jellies and jams, thickens in the digestive tract, creating a lasting sensation of fullness. There's still more: University of California at Davis scientists have evidence that pectin activates hormones that tell the brain to stop eating!"

This Dr. said she discovered this by accident. She was helping one of her patients eat more fruit and the only fruit she really liked was apples. She came back after a week of eating apples and had lost a pound and a half of pure body fat! She said her overweight patients that used the apple approach lost 3 times more weight than the ones who didn't. So...I went out and bought 15 apples ... gonna try (yet again) ... another Monday hopeful ... coming up!!! :crossed:;)
