does anyone have a COMPLETE list of all the different types of sugars to AVOID! I read the second version of the book, and I thought I could pretty much recognize all the hidden sugars in foods by reading the labels. However I bought some salad dressing and it said sugar free, no carbs!, (thats what the label said). So I read the ingredients and I did not see any added sugars so I bought it. Well to make a long story short, the dressing was go GOOD (thousand) I mean you literally could not tell the difference from the sugar free dressing to hidden valley. And I thought to myself this dressing can NOT be sugar free, it taste to much like the real thing. So I read the ingredients again and this time I caught the ingredient sucralose (sp may be wrong). Which leads to my question of a complete listing of all the sugars to avoid when buying a product. This would be GEATLY appreciated!! Now I truly understand why its called SUGARBUSTERS.:

College--In our US food industry, sugar is put into almost everything--even salt. So go as sugar free as you can by reading labels. What you need to look for on the labels is "sugars" and see how many grams of sugar they list. All those "oses" are sugar, as you guessed. However, with something like salad dressing, 1 or 2 grams of sugar per serving is allowable. Even better, you could make your own vinagrette with 3 parts extra virgin olive oil and 1 part good quality vinegar. I use 1/2 part red wine vinegar and 1/2 part balsamic. A little salt and pepper and any herbs you want to add will made a great dressing. Even fruits have sugars, albeit natural sugars. Whole wheat bread has sugars; just look on the label of the bread and keep the sugar down to 2 grams per serving or less and you will be OK.

Sucralose is an artificial sweetener, like Sweet-N-Low, but apparently a safer alternative. It's the same thing as Splenda. Splenda is a brand of sucralose.

I know it's confusing, but just hang in there. Go ahead and eat it when you want, just don't overdo it.

Take care.

THANKS so much gatorgal & pancho! I just want to make sure that I am following sugarbusters correctly and not being tricked by food labels. But as gatorgal said sugar is in pratically everything so while Im checking for sugars I'll also check for grams of sugar per serving :) As far as the list goes is it safe to say besides the obivous sugars (sugar, corn syrup etc) everthing with an "lose" ending consider as a form of sugar? Or is there any other name that I should be aware of as well?

Anyone use pre-packaged muffin mix? I found some with gluten flour and protein power as part of the ingred. Can we use protein power and gluten flour? Said nothing about sugar on the label.

Thanks

SEMO: This somehow got posted as a reply to collegestudent question. Anyway, wheat gluten and protein powder are both alright, as far as I know.

Take care.
