Debelli 07-14-2003, 09:00 AM GOOD MONDAY MORNING EVERYONE!
Will post my usual morning post sometime later, but wanted to make sure I got our
MOTIVATIONAL MONDAY done early in the morning, so here's my contribution for MM, there's 2 of them to read today:
http://members.aol.com/debelli/monday_morning_thought.jpg
YOUR OWN SPECIAL GREATNESS
Your life has a purpose, something uniquely suited to who you are. The more closely you align your day-to-day priorities with that purpose, the more fulfillment you'll know.
When the priorities you've chosen stray away from your purpose, then life becomes filled with frustration. When you put your time and effort into things that don't really matter, it brings on a painful, gnawing emptiness.
If something is truly important to the core of your being, then there is most certainly a way to make it happen. When you make the effort and spend the time on what really matters, the rewards will be great indeed.
It will never be easy to follow your purpose. For by its very definition, your highest purpose demands the best that you have to offer. Yet following that purpose will fulfill you in a way that nothing else can. To every extent possible, align your priorities to who you truly are. Let your own special greatness light up this world.
-- Ralph Marston

BEGIN TO CLIMB
When you must get over the mountain, you've got to begin to climb. Much effort will be required, and the sooner you start to climb the sooner you'll reach the other side.Just because the task is difficult is no reason to avoid it. Just because the odds are stacked against you is no reason to back away. While you're complaining that things are too unfair, complicated or overwhelming, they generally become even more so. Better then to simply start to work on them right away.
Just because you've fallen short in the past is no reason to avoid acting in the present with new energy and resolve. With each mistake and every experience, you've learned and refined your skills. You're more experienced and more capable now than ever before. Put your past disappointments to positive use by transforming them into present opportunities.
Get going, get busy, and you'll put even the most daunting challenges successfully behind you.

Have a wonderful day, and a fabulous week!!!!!

Debelli 07-14-2003, 09:11 AM THIS WEEKS CHALLENGES
The usual challenges of DRINKING YOUR WATER and drinking AT LEAST 64 OUNCES is ongoing, as is getting in 3 DAYS OF EXERCISE and posting it on the WEEKLY EXERCISE BOARD
THIS WEEKS NEW CHALLENGE:
Pick at least one day (you could do more) that you take the time to post what you had for breakfast. Instead of posting an entire daily menu, let's just focus on one particular meal. So, if you've eaten breakfast already today (and it's SB LEGAL) why not post it and then, your challenge is DONE!!!!;)
Debelli 07-14-2003, 09:18 AM I'm bacccccckkkkkkk!:s:
WOW! Look at the board, I go away and we get an entire new look - LOVE IT!!! Did you all know this board was voted TOP 100 ON THE FORBES TOP 100 WEBSITES ON THE WEB???? Just thought I'd throw out that little fact for you all:)
I see the "BOARD CRIER" (instead of TOWN CRIER) told you about my little girdle/toe mishap! Yes, tis true, this is a memorable one! Was putting on my girdle, and yes, I wear one EVERY day to hold my saggy flab in, had the left left through, was putting the right foot in and my pinky just didn't make it through before I started to pull up and "SNAP" I truly believe it's broken! Painful is putting it mildly. Of ALL times to do this, right before the weekend to go away, a week before leaving for an umpteen day trip, I break my toe. Well, that sucker not only blew up like a puffer fish, the darned thing is black and blue AND the bump on it must be the bone. It was VERY hard to walk and walk we had to to get in to the convention center. Every step had a ooooo or ouch thrown in, but I was a trooper and did quite well. I have to say, as ugly as it is today, it didn't hurt as bad as it did yesterday, seems when I step the wrong way is when it hurts even moreso.
So, as BOB mentioned, we ran out of gas. Now, mind you, when I called ELI to tell him we were on our way home on Friday night from LAUREN'S show, I asked him if he had filled up the car, he said he had. When we got in the car in the morning I told him to go fill it up, he said we had a enough gas, and last, on the road, I hounded him to make sure he got gas in that gas hog rental Tahoe! So, were driving and he says "we're running out of gas!" Thought he was joking, as you can't take ANYTHING ELI says too seriously, but for this rare instance, he wasn't joking! We ran out of gas, not as far as BOB said of 1 1/2 miles, but a 1/2 mile south of an exit. I called AAA and figured if it was going to be less than a half hour, we'd wait, ELI isn't too brisk of a walker, at his age you know;) so I figured it would be just as quick. Call AAA and they said less than an hour. As we were contemplating walking, or at least him, heck, I have a broken toe, AAA calls back with the tow company name and said it would be less than 30 minutes, so we decided to wait. 45 minutes pass, so I call, they say another 10 minutes. Another 20 minutes pass, I call again, they're "looking" for us - paleese, I'm a half mile from the friggin exit! Trooper stops, I know he ran the tag, probably for the reason BOB said and calls the tow company for us and says BUBBA is on the way - well, BUBBA doesn't seem to be getting here fast enough! Probably had to scrape up some dinner along the road. FINALLY BUBBA drives up, takes him 5 minutes just to get out of the truck. Takes not one, but two men to put gas in the car! Finally, after an hour and a half, we are on our way 1/2 mile to the exit to go get gas, then back on the road again. I made SURE that everyone knew what he did - bad thing was, he almost did it again on the way home, but he lucked out this time.
We got to the convention center in Orlando and had to walk, and walk and walk, of course, that's after paying a ridiculous $10 charge just to park in the parking lot! There were THOUSANDS of people there, okay, over a thousand, less than 2000, would say at least 1500 people and the line was LONG. We got there around 10am and the doors opened at 11am. We got pretty decent seats for being so far back in the line. The thing didn't start til 12:30. They had clips from past shows on the big screens they had up on the stage to help bide the time. I played games on my Palm Pilot as ELI zonked in and out of conscienceness. To make a long story short, unfortunately, Grandma didn't come through, not that I thought she would with all those people, but it was an interesting process to see him work, unedited and to see how accurate information he was able to get across-not bad looking either! It was an expereince.
From there we went to get something to eat and ended up at Carrabas. My only indiscretion was eating calamari, which I don't think was too bad because the breading's GL was lowered with the squid. I had brought legal food from home, and planned to be good, and I was.
Afterwards, found my sister, who had gone to see my nephew who's a CIT at a camp north of Orlando, outside Ocala, was in Orlando with two of my nieces, so they ended up staying at the same hotel and we got to see them all.
We went to the outlet mall - pain or no pain, shopping can always help:) Didn't buy too much, 3 shirts for MICHAEL that are going back because smalls are too big, and an apron and matching dish towel for my DM's bday next month that are SOOOOOO her! DM absolutely loves ice cream and the matching pair has ice cream cones all over it and says the "you scream, I scream..."saying. I'm going to make her keep it in the car so when we have bday parties, she has to wear it, as she's always the ice cream scooper person! It's adorable!!!!
Went back to the hotel, watched the boob tube a little and off to bed. Got up in the morning, gave ELI his birthday card (the old geezer turned 51 today), and his bday present. Went to breakfast downstairs, which is always a really nice buffet, not the typical one, more European with desserts, breads, just lots of stuff. I limited myself to a few slices of bacon, a bit of eggs one small chunk each of cantelope and honeydew and I had brought my Fiber One and a bit of soy milk.
We decided to go the flea market to kill the morning - yep, more walking! I wasn't going to let the pain ruin the weekend, and ELI's bday. Was pretty dead for a flea market and was disappointed. Only bought 2 videos and another cookbook I don't need (but have you all in mind when I do buy them):) Then we went to MT. DORA, which is such a quaint little area of FL that doesn't look like it belongs in FL at all, and yes, we walked more, in and out of little shops. From there, we stopped at a HFS, which I do remember SOLSHINE mentioned that she goes to, if memory serves me right, but only bought a FEARN SPICE CAKE MIX (they are delish!) and then we went to lunch at a Middle Eastern restaurant that some guys, the day before when we stopped at STARBUCKS for coffee (after Carrabas) told us about and said was very good, (and it was).
Well, I think my soy must of been bad because all day long I was feeling barfy and finally, it hit me and I was barfing on and off all afternoon, barfer between Mt. Dora and the restaurant. Honestly, I didn't feel like eating, but it was ELI'S birthday, so I wanted him to enjoy himself and not have me put a damper on things, so I ordered falafel. Went to the bathroom and whamo, barfing again - tried to eat, back to the bathroom, barfing up the 2 1/2 falafel that I ate - hated it, not so much the barfing, I'm so used to it, but just that they were so good!!!! So afterwards, we stopped at SB'S got coffee, that came up again, and again, and then I felt better afterwards!
After that, we headed home, where, even though I never think I'm going to make it home when ELI is driving, we did:D We had a great weekend and I'm glad to be back - because I have to do this ALL OVER AGAIN on Saturday when I take the kids on this road trip I'm soooo not looking forward to!
Thanks to TRANQUIL and her staying OP during her trip, this helped me stay OP as well-THANKS TRANQUIL and CONGRATS to you!!!:bravo:
I have a crapload of stuff to do this week before we leave. Today I have to go to the bank, take my MC bill in (due today), go to AAA, have my car diagnostic done to see what the heck is wrong with it, go to Visionworks this afternoon, go to library - suppose to have yoga, with toe bad, not to mention the muscle sore from walking funny, don't think THAT'S going to fly today:nono: Umm, not sure what else, but I'm going to be busy.
I don't have time to reply to all the posts over the weekend but will try to read through them all if I have time. Will be sporadically on this week, and will do my best to get replies in when I can.
Have a wonderful week everyone!!!!

Solly 07-14-2003, 09:36 AM Deb, I got such a kick out of your weekend experience. But BOB told the girdle story just a little funnier. I bet Eli got an ear full when you ran out of gas. Hope that toe gets better. tape it to the next one. That should help it heal. Sorry you were so sick, but look at the bright side, everything you ate you only rented, didn't get to stick to the thighs, etc. You did great with your eating. I am so proud.
Jumping right in with the weekly new challenge:
Breakfast: 2 eggs fried in Pam. 3 pcs of already cooked bacon. 34 glass grapefruit juice.
Have a great OP day!
Jackie
Debelli 07-14-2003, 09:45 AM JACKK, THANKS, I know everyone must of gotten a kick out of BOB'S post, I knew when I told her it would be colorful!:D I told TRANQUIL as well when I spoke to her. The two of them were laughing so hard!!!!
Hmmm, 34 glass of grapefruit juice???? Thanks for posting your menu for this morning - I think this may be an easier challenge to follow than a full-day menu.
Have a great week!!!!
Deb
woodfrogs 07-14-2003, 10:46 AM Good Morning!
breakfast this morning was:
1 jumbo egg, fried in a touch of olive oil

on toasted organic stone ground 12 grain bread
Yummy!

amhlawyer 07-14-2003, 10:48 AM Good morning all! Well, it's another Monday... It's now been FOUR WEEKS since my big interview and I still haven't heard anything. My hubby told me to wait one full month before contacting them so if I don't hear anything by Wednesday, I'm calling. I know noone else who was interviewed has heard anything, either.
I've been pretty much staying on plan except for Saturday night -date night! We went to Don Pablos and I gorged myself on chips and salsa (Bad, BAD CHIPS AND SALSA!!!!) I gorged myself partly because it took forever for our fajitas to arrive. The waitress felt bad and (gulp) brought us a free dessert - a Chocolate Volcano! Like, the last thing I needed, right???? But I indulged. I was back on plan on Sunday and I'd really been on plan up until dinner (with the thought that I might diverge) so all in all, it wasn't the end of the world.
Deb, congrats to the site for being on Forbes' list!
Most of my "online" time lately has been consumed with Big Brother 4. I"m a sick, twisted person. What can I say? Hope all is well...
cherylco 07-14-2003, 10:55 AM Oh man Deb, Eli sounds like my DH! Leave it till the last minute and most of the time forget anyway!!
I hate that! How hard is it to make sure you're filled up and driving a clean vehicle before going on a road trip!
Your a real trooper to get all that shopping in despite the pain :D
The test was interesting. Now if I'd taken the test before SB I'd have been Severe emotional eating: Significant obstacles exist to healthy weight management But I scored Mild emotional eating because of SB.
Breakfast
1 WW bagel (toasted) from Trader Joes (TJ)
TJ lowfat creamcheese
Bottle of water
coffee-equal - waiting for my case of Agave to show up!
Wanted to jump in here before the thread got too long. I'm currently doing Atkins and thinking about making the switch to SB. My question is, did you gain a lot when switching from Atkins to Sugar Busters? Any suggestions from those of you, that have made the switch?
Thanks,
~Semo
Rosalie 07-14-2003, 12:03 PM Good Morning All
Deb - That sounds like quite an eventful weekend you had.:spin: Hope your toe is feeling better to-day. That's a good suggestion from Jack-K to tape the two toes together. This is what they usually do if it is broken.
Here's what I had for breakfast this morning:
1/4 cup Rice & Shine hot cereal with 7 ozs 1% milk and 1/2 cup frozen raspberries.
I have a pot of chana dal, barley and veggie soup cooking. Hope it is ready soon as I have to have an early lunch. I'm off to badminton at noon then to the hairdresser afterwards.
Bye for now.
Marie.
amhlawyer 07-14-2003, 12:26 PM Semo - I switched from Atkins to SB and I didn't gain anything. I started losing a bit faster (I wasn't a big weight loser on Atkins to begin with.) I am so much happier with my whole wheat pizza crust and my Sugar free PB&J on whole wheat! I'll gladly give up the more fatty foods from Atkins in order that I can have some whole wheat spaghetti! Let me know if you have any other questions - lots of people here started out with Atkins and are "reformed!" Hahaha.
Thanks Amhlawyer, I haven't had much of a loss doing Atkins and I just could never get over the guilt of eating high fat foods. I've tried to stay on the lower fat meats and I do eat blue bunny yogurt sweeten with splenda. Guess I was doing my own version of LC dieting. Now that it's summer, I'm really missing all the great veggies. I ordered my SB book and should get it this week so I'm sure I'll have more questions.
Thanks Again.
BTW, beautiful children.
Pancho 07-14-2003, 12:58 PM HELLO, HELLO, HELLO ALL:
As you know, we got back Wed. evening from our trip. Thursday was devoted to unpacking and doing laundry, and then the fun started.....my baby started vomiting Thursday night and into Friday (her 1st birthday). What a way to spend her birthday. Good thing we had a celebration for her before leaving Iowa or she wouldn't have been able to have any cake for her big day. We took my 5-year old to the emergency room yesterday. She had a red rash on her face that spread up and around her mouth and on her chin; it turned purple. When I talked to the on-call nurse, she said anything that has any purple in it needs a prompt visit to the urgent care to rule out any blood infection. She went and the doctor said it looked like some type of allergy to something. We are applying cortisone cream on it 4x a day, but she can't even lick her lips (which is impossible) or she can get sick from the cortisone. Well, she woke up at midnight last night vomiting. So, I am sure that I will be next; I catch any gastro illness going around.
Anyway, I read some posts about Rissa's site last week but didn't have time to even care what any of it meant. Well, I stumbled across her site from a low-carb board I used to be on, and I was able to access it at:
www.prettyimpressivestuff.com/sugarbusters
It really has a lot of helpful info. for those new to the sb woe. However, I did read something on there that confused me a bit. She said BE CAREFUL, and read ingredients: The primary ingredient in 100% Whole Wheat Bread is Stone Ground Whole Wheat; the primary ingredient in Stone Ground Wheat is enriched flour. Does anyone know anything about this?
She also mentioned Healthy Life Bread and Duke's Mayo. Has anyone found these anywhere, and if so, where?
My breakfast this morning was a Blue Bunny yogurt with two teaspoons of flaxmeal/nut mixture.
I bought some of the NSA Blue Bunny Drumsticks, and probably won't be buying those for awhile; they are really tasty, but a little high on the fat side. A great little treat when you wanna splurge though.
Talitha: Please post the recipe for those wheat germ brownies when you have a chance.
Tranquil: How did the lunch with your old friend go? Sounds like you'd have a lot of catching up to do.
Woodfrog: How's your sis recovering from surgery?
heartmom: I am so proud of you! Once you start getting those compliments and have to start replacing some clothing (or underwear) that is really all the motivation you need. Nothing is worth splurging over anymore to me. On holidays, I will probably eat off plan a bit, but will get right back on again the next day. Jumping on that scale everyday and seeing those numbers for the first time in a veeeery long time, and fitting into those jeans for the first time in over 5 years is awesome. You have done so well, and you will continue to do well now that you are re-motivated!!
Debelli: Wow, what a trip; you had me laughing at all the happenings. As if breaking your little toe wasn't enough, you had to go run out of gas, and if that still wasn't enough, you had to go puking all over the place. I am sure it wasn't funny at the time, but one of those trips you will carry in your memory for many, many years to come. Sorry, you didn't get the reading you were hoping for. My 20-year old niece has a crush on John Edward. She thinks he is sooo cute.
SEMO: I am an Atkins convert, and I would never go back there again! A brief history: I had a baby last year in July, and decided to get my butt in gear the end of February. I started Atkins on February 24th weighing 152 pounds. I stayed on it for March and April and was pretty committed. I was fluctuating between 139-140 when I decided I couldn't do it anymore (about 12 pounds in 2 months). I was very unhappy and my baby belly fat wasn't going down at all. I couldn't lose any weight around the middle. Anytime I would deviate from the plan even a little tiny bit, I would gain weight. I did a lot of research on a lot of diets and decided SB would be a new way of eating and way of life for me. I started it on or around May 1st and my weight as of this morning was 126 (14 pounds in 2 1/2 months). I have done so much better. My body responds well to this way of eating. I dont' like having so much fat in my diet. AND, my tummy is finally getting flatter. I feel as if my body is healthy inside and out. I love being able to have milk, yogurt, fruit, whole wheat breads and pastas. Just make sure that when you are losing, to limit your starchy carbs to 1 or 2 a day. I try to eat most of mine early in the day to burn them off. I will occasionally have pasta or some type of bread with dinner, but prefer to eat them earlier in the day. Check out the site I have listed above (pretty impressive stuff). It has a lot of valuable info. in a nutshell. Good luck with the switch; I know you will do well.
Well, I hope to get back on throughout the week, and get back into posting. Take care to all of you.
Debelli 07-14-2003, 03:24 PM Hey All:wave:
Just got home from running errands. Have to go back out around 3ish to Visionworks and grocery store, then I'll be home for the rest of the day, or at least I think, other than picking MICHAEL up from his friends house.
Got a bunch of DVD's that came in from the library that I'm hoping I'll find time to watch before we leave, otherwise, back they go sight-unseen:shrug:
Here's what I had for breakfast today:
5oz Asian pear
1oz Fiber One
2oz soy milk
Going to go make something for lunch as soon as I finish this post:)
LAW, I'm still pulling for you with this job. BUT, if it doesn't materialize, there's a reason for it, and surely something just as good or better will come along I'm sure! Good for you for being able to hop right back on plan. If you can do that, and your indiscretions are far and few between, you'll be just fine:) Didn't see BB on Friday, or was it Saturday? Anyhow, what happened?
CHERYL, sounds like you've come a long way, not only with your weight loss, but mentally. It's not all about weight, that's for sure, it can go a lot deeper. You've made great strides!:D Men, gotta love them???????? WW bagles at TJ'S - can't wait to hit that place!!!!!
SEMO, http://members.aol.com/eldemila/sb_sign1.jpg I can't speak from experience, but it is possible to gain a few pounds as you introduce carbs back in to your eating plan, but as LAW mentioned, she didn't gain anything. Each person is different. I think what's more important is you find a plan that you can live with and won't get bored with and probably many of the gals that are on the board who have made the switch will tell you, this they have found to be a much better WOE to follow. Don't hesitate to ask questions, we're all more than happy to help!!
ROSALIE, did you get my e-mails about the board??? Hope you had a good time at badminton today. Is it any less hot up there???
PANCHO, welcome back, but whoa, what you've had to deal with since being back, well, seems you should of stayed away longer! Hope the kids are doing better, both not going through good situations, poor things:( Hope you don't get it, like that's ALL you need:rolleyes: If it's SGWW is shouldn't be enriched, it's not missing anything that needs enriching, so I'm not sure what' up with that. Your neice can't go wrong with having a crush on John Edwards, he's a lot cuter in person than on TV - thank goodness she doesn't have a crush on someone like Ozzie Osbourne!
Okay, I'm caught up I do believe. Will check in later.
Toodles
Deb
CountryMom4Him 07-14-2003, 03:40 PM Forgive me...last week got nuts and I missed all the days past Wed. Things are still a little hay wire but I will try to get on here more faithful.
Love,
Crystle
Solly 07-14-2003, 05:53 PM Hi,
Another crazy day.
I have to refresh my skills on doing payroll. OUr payroll clerk is going on vacation and I have to do it while she's gone. I simply hate it. So I practice for a few weeks before she leaves.
Have to rush home, eat and go to the funeral home. Since my dad passed away the first of june we have had 4 more friend's parent pass away. Iguess we are getting to that age. Uck!
Then off to the ball park. DD plays Volley ball and we will hang around.
Pancho, hope your DD is better. That can be scarry. You can get 100% Stone gorund bread, but it may be enriched. Of course 100% WW SG is best but 100% ww is a second choice.
Law, I would call and check on the job. Shows you are interested. Good luck
Crystle, missed you last week. Hope you can join us this one.
Have a great OP night.
Jackie
Lucky144 07-14-2003, 06:15 PM Hi there,

THE BIG ORANGE BABE 07-14-2003, 06:23 PM AFTERNOON EVERY BUDDY!!!
Just got home from the salt mines...I absolutely hate Mondays...we always have three days of work to do, and it can be brutal!
FINALLY got a call from the Drs office about an appointment to discuss my results from the myelogram...Friday afternoon...can't wait to hear what's going on...I'll let y'all know when I find out!
It's definately the RAINY SEASON down here...we've already had a terrible storm today, and when I got out of the car, the thunder was rumbling...
JACKIE...I've also had a few deaths of friends parents lately..I agree, we're getting to that age that it's bound to happen!
Enjoy your volley ball game...Hope you can get thru it without any rain!
WELCOME to all our CONVERTS...you'll find that this is a much better plan with a lot more choices...Any questions that you have, just blast away...there is always someone around to answer the best that we can.
I've got to feed Kate and Skeeter....I'll check in later...

Debelli 07-14-2003, 06:37 PM Hey All:wave:
Thought I'd get in a post before I put the ol broken tootsie up on the couch, it will be a first since I broke it.
Went to Visionworks. Had gone there in May, exactly 2 months ago to date because my eyes were bothering me. Mind you, when I was there years ago they gave me a perscription for reading glasses. Well, I get them examined and they tell me I need NO glasses whatsoever! I left, but a bit perplexed. How could someone need glasses, even though they are minor reading and then all of a sudden, they don't need any, years later AND they are complaining about their eyes bothering them? Well, I decided to go back and question it, and good thing I did, because not only do I need glasses for reading, but for distance as well! Have to get progressive bifocals:eek: Darn, did that make me feel old!!!
COUNTRY, hope things settle back down for you.
JACKK, sorry to hear about all the deaths that are happening, like you said, it's probably coming with the age factor.
LUCKY, if you look at this weeks challenge, you'll see that we are trying to post at least one day of breakfasts, so that should give you an idea. What kind of restuarants do you frequent, knowing this would probably help us give you some ideas. Same with conveinence foods.
BOB, def. let us know about the results you get on Friday.
Okay, I'm outta here for now!!!
Toodles
Deb
heartmom 07-14-2003, 08:20 PM Breakfast- 1 sf yogurt and a peach with water and diet coke.
Pancho- Thanks!
Oh yea, remember how I took my measurements last week and was only down in my hips? Well, I took them today before eating, and I am down a whopping 8 3/4"!! I knew I had to be since my pants are getting loose. I didn't have time to exercise today but does 3 1/2 hours of cleaning count, lol? Okay, got to go cook supper.
Ellen 07-14-2003, 11:45 PM Hi everyone! We just got in from our week at the beach. It was beautiful weather, and we ended up staying on the beach in Cocoa Beach an extra three days, and NOT driving across Florida to Sarasota and Fort Myers, like I wanted too. I was definitely bummed! I was hoping to get to meet GatorGal and BOB, but did not get to meet either one....
Eating was not even remotely on program. I tended to eat what was around, what I wanted and did not worry about it. I took a diet vacation and I am now back on program, and ready to move ahead again! (well, I HOPE to move ahead....)
While I was eating whatever my little heart desired on vacation, my disgustingly wonderful husband stayed TOTALLY on program! It made me feel a bit guilty, but I tried hard not to let it bother me! haha!
I read through the posts rather quickly, but I hope to get back in the swing of it tomorrow. I still need to unpack, and then fall in bed. We have several more days off this week, and Tom is going on a special tree climb this weekend. I don't have to work until Friday.
While we were in Florida, I had to stop in and check out a few Publix. (I work for Publix in the bakery as a cake decorator...had to check out the other stores....) I was very excited to find Red Raspberry and Strawberry Kiwi flavored Diet Rite with splenda! I got a bunch to carry home. We also found a Russell Stover candy outlet on the way home and stopped there. I got a bunch of cheap sugar free chocolates. The trick is going to be limiting my indulgences. I do find it very helpful when I just have to have something sweet.
Wow...lots of Atkins converts.... I am one too. I never could lose on Atkins. I have done better on SB, but to be fair, I have to say a lot of my problems are thyroid related. I love SB for its simplicity. No counting, no obsessing. I hope all you newbies find great success!
I will be back tomorrow....sweet dreams everyone!
Rosalie 07-15-2003, 12:55 AM Pancho - So sorry to hear that the kidddos have been ill. Hope they are better now and that you didn't come down with anything. I don't know where you read that Stone Ground Whole Wheat has enriched flour as an ingredient. You should look for bread that is 100% Whole Grain or 100% Stone Ground Whole Wheat. Some breads will contain SGWW flour as well as enriched flour. This is why it is so important to read labels.
Deb - We've had some hot weather here but it was a bit cooler here to-day and it was very pleasant to be out this evening. I was out lawn bowling then off to watch my gs play soccer. Hope you find time to watch those DVD's before you leave on your trip. That doesn't sound like a very reliable place where you went for your eye test if they can screw up like that.
Heartmom - Cleaning definitely counts as exercise. WTG on losing all those inches.
Monet - Welcome back. Yes, you were missed. Too bad that you didn't get to meet Gator and BOB. Sounds like your dh didn't spoil your appetite while away with him staying op. I know what that feels like though as my ds is following the program and I just hate eating out with him if I want something off plan as I get such dirty looks.
Marie.
Debelli 07-15-2003, 07:57 AM Good Tuesday Morning All:wave:
WOW! The board is so slow thus far - what's going on?
Well, I'm up early to try to take my car in to get it hooked up to the diagnostic machine. Have to take it to the dealer as they are the only one who can do it for my model of car - doesn't that suck!
HEART, CONGRATS on losing all those inches-that's a lot!!!!
MONET, of course we missed you, welcome back!!! Sorry you weren't able to see GATOR or BOB, maybe next time. As long as you had a good time, and a safe trip, that's what's important! Tree climb? Did you find the Tangerine Diet Rite too? Just be careful not to drink too much, it has the maltodextrin in it. I can't drink it anymore, was okay if I had just a glass a day, but it got out of hand, so I stopped buying it, I need more water anyhow.
ROSALIE, I won't go back to Visionworks again, will find someone new next time. Glad to hear its getting cooler up there.
I'll check in later - going to get ready to go to the dealer and see if I can get this done and over with early enough. Have to take MICHAEL later this afternoon for a screening of his film and after, at 7pm, I have a board meeting at ELI'S Starbucks. Not sure if I will be home in time for chat or not, but if so, will be on, though from the looks of the board being so slow, not sure if anyone is planning on trying to be there - any takers?
Have a good one!
Debbie
Debelli 07-15-2003, 07:58 AM Here's my TUESDAY TIPS contribution:
12 Keys To Super-Charging Your Metabolism for Weight Loss
Greg Landry
You hear it all the time - "metabolism", but what is it? It's the process of converting food to energy (movement and heat). Metabolism happens in your muscles and organs and the result of it is what we commonly refer to as "burning calories". Metabolism is essentially the speed at which your body's motor is running.
"Basal metabolism" is the metabolic rate or caloric expenditure needed to maintain basal body functions such as your heart beating, breathing, muscle tone, etc. It's how fast your "motor" is running when you're still in a reclined position or sleeping. Basal metabolism accounts for about 75% of the calories you expend on a daily basis!
The good news is that there are 12 ways you can "boost" your metabolism! The more of these you're able to incorporate into your life, the more you'll boost your metabolism. That means you'll be expending ("burning") more calories 24 hours a day!
Always eat breakfast! Skipping breakfast sends the message to your body that you're starving because you haven't had food in 18+ hours. As a protective mechanism, your metabolism slows down. Food, especially complex carbohydrates, fuels your metabolism.
Eat earlier in the day! Research has demonstrated that you can lose weight simply by eating a substantial breakfast and lunch, and a light dinner. Dinner should be eaten as early as possible, preferably at least four hours before bedtime.
Never eat less than 1200 calories per day! Less than 1200 is usually not enough to support your basal metabolism and thus will slow your metabolism.
Snack frequently! Complex carbohydrates (fruits, vegetables, and grains) fuel your metabolism. Also, snacking prevents you from becoming too hungry. The hungrier you are, the less control you have over what and how much you eat.
Eat more carbohydrates (food from plants), and less fat (food from many animals and other food with added fat)! Carbohydrates boost your metabolism and have fewer calories per weight than fat.
Do some type of aerobic exercise (walking, jogging, swimming, stationary cycling, aerobic dancing, etc.) on a daily basis (preferably in the morning)! Forget this twice-a-week stuff. Our bodies were designed to be active on a daily basis! When we are, our metabolism soars!
In addition to your regular aerobic exercise, take a brisk 10 to 15 minute walk at lunch or in the evening. This serves to boost your metabolism even more!
Tone your muscles with weight training three days per week. Toned muscles send your metabolism through the roof. Do it!
Look for situations to be active. Park as far from the store as you can rather than looking for the closest parking spot. Use the stairs rather than the elevator, a broom rather than a blower, etc. Look for the "hard" way to do things!
Avoid alcohol! Alcohol depresses your metabolism and stimulates your appetite.
Drink 60+ ounces of water a day. Your metabolism needs plenty water to function properly. Carry a bottle of water with you and drink frequently throughout the day.
Avoid the"3 P's".....pills, powders, and potions! There are NO quick fixes! Get started today! You'll feel better and your metabolism will be in "great shape"!
Ellen 07-15-2003, 09:31 AM Just woke up, and I am trying to be quiet as to not wake Tom, so this will be short. Its SO good to sleep in my own bed again. :)
I am not sure I want to get on the scale tomorrow. I suppose it is a good idea to know how much damage I did while gone, but I have not made up my mind yet! :chin:
DEB: We get the tangerine flavor here in Atlanta, along with cola and white grape. We used to get the strawberry kiwi, but they stopped having it here over a year ago. I just loaded up in the raspberry and s-k flavors. Maltodextrin? It doesn't have it in it. They use the liquid Splenda in drinks.
CountryMom4Him 07-15-2003, 09:52 AM Just a quick post before I start mowning this morning. It's already getting toasty outside so I don't want to wait too late. :)
Monet....welcome back. Your vacation sounds wounderful. We have diet riet here but only cola flavored. How neat to have different flavors to try.
Deb...sorry your toe is still hurting. I broke my pinkie toe once and it was not fun. And it broke stupid. Someone was helping me down from a truck and it barely touched the ground and just broke. YEARS ago....LOL
HeartMom...you are doing sooooo good. Getting smaller and smaller. One day you will have to put your before and after photos together so you can see.
Jack-K...thank you. I miss ya'll too when I can't get to the board. My sister is still in the hospital. They are running more test this morning. I hope she gets to come home soon. Even more so I hope they get to the root of her problems.
Bob....hope they have good results for you and some answers so you can start feeling better.
WELCOME Lucky!
Poncho..praying for your little one. Hope the rash goes quickly.
Well I'm outta here before it hits 90 degrees...:)
Love,
Crystle
BOBatwork 07-15-2003, 10:46 AM MONET.....WELCOME HOME!!! So sorry you didn't get over here. Gator and I were waiting on your call...maybe next time.
I've always debated on stopping at that RS outlet...are the prices
worth the stop?
glad you had a good time...hope you got your fill of seafood, the fish on the Atlantic side is SO MUCH BETTER THAN THE GULF!!!
The water is colder and the fish is more firm....GAWD IT'S GOOD!
Better get to work...
BOB
collegestudent 07-15-2003, 11:09 AM Hello Im new to this sight and I have a very simple question, Im pretty sure that that the answer is already posted somewhere but I dont have much time to navigate(im @ work). How many servings of Carbohydrates are recommended daily?:?:
Solly 07-15-2003, 11:22 AM That's it I have learned my lesson the hard way. I have lost another post by typing it in the reply spot. I had my individual replies in notepad, but my bull session in the reply. The page didn't refresh and I lost it all.
Hope everyone is having a great day. For bf today I have had sf yogurt. Didn't have time for much else.. Will get an orange or celery and pb later.
I really like the challenge this week. But I think we should post our bf everyday we can. It gives others some new ideas maybe and keeps yhou honest. Maybe next week we can do lunches. What do yu think Deb?
BOB, I sure hope you get some good answers on Friday and nothing requiring surgery.
Deb, I have had bifocals for a few years now. Just hoping I don't need trifocals. My eye Dr. told me your distance actually gets better with age. I have tried every kind of bifocal contact made and nothing works for me. I truly hate wearing glasses all the time. Will you have to wear yours all the time? I am planning on being at chat, unless....
Heartmom, 8 3/4" is awesome. No wonder your pants are baggy. THey should be falling off.
Monet, welcome home. Glad you had a nice vacation. If you enjoyed your eating off plan, don't worry about it. Like you said, getting back on track and moving ahead is the secret. Kuddos to your DH for staying so good. I always have to get on that scale to help me stop the damage before it gets out of control. It may be depressing, but you know where you are and what you need to do.
Crystle, hope your DS gets better soon and finds out what is actually wrong. Sending prayers her way.
College student, SB only counts 3 starchy carbs a day. (cereal, ww pasta, ww bread, brown rice, etc.) Some people actually count their carbs, but I figure why do something I don't have to. Counting to 3 is easier. I try to only eat 1 or 2 at the most a day. GOod luck.
Need to get busy and finish payroll so I can do my own work. Be back later I hope.
Jackie
cherylco 07-15-2003, 12:44 PM heart
did you say you lost eight (8) and 3/4 inches?
Monet
Oh well on not being legal. As long as you can jump back on! Sometimes were so motivated, other times eh.
As long as we keep going!
collegestudent
Welcome to the board.
jack is right about the starchy carbs. If you find your not losing and your eating legal drop a serving. I have been stuck at 202/203. I started eating starchy carbs only at breakfast. It was odd at first not having breads/rice for lunch and dinner but this morning I weighed in at 201 so guess its the bread for me!
Breakfast today was:
bowl of oatmeal with butter and Equal
11oz tomato juice.
coffee with equal.
I sure hope my case of Agave gets here today *sigh*
Debelli 07-15-2003, 01:05 PM I'm home, more penniless than when I left the house <sigh> A few things wrong with the car, 2 that needed to be taken care of, one I did with them since the $75 they charged for hooking it up to the computer was able to be put towards the repair, so had to pay another $24. Have to take the car back to my mechanic tomorrow. ELI is off tomorrow so we'll leave it there for the day, and hope it gets done.
Making a pot pie for lunch-didn't eat breakfast, just had a small piece of fruit as I rushed out the door, so I'm starvin!
MONET, the liquid Splenda doesn't have maltodextrin in it? I know the powder does, and it does a whopper of a job on me. I can find more flavors of the Diet Rite at Winn Dixie than at Publix.
COUNTRY, seems a lot of people break their little toe oddly. ELI broke his fourth toe and 2 places, he got it hooked up on the wall, go figure, not his baby toe, but the fourth, but it seems many people have done so. How long did it take yours to heal. Guess walking is out for a while, at least I have a really good excuse this time;)
COLLEGE, http://members.aol.com/eldemila/sb_sign2.jpg SB recommends approx. 40% of your daily intake come in the way of carbs and only 2-3 of those to be starchy carbs. If you want to figure it out, take your daily caloric intake, multiply by .40 and then divide by 4. Just make sure you eat enough calories-this is VERY important. Don't be afraid to ask questions, we're all more than happy to help:D
JACKK, absolutely, you can post daily breakfasts on the board! I didn't want to scare anyone in saying to do it daily, but I for one would do so, it's so easy, I mean, how much does one eat for breakfast! Was hoping everyone would do at least one day this week, but more is better:) I think next week lunch would be great. I'll leave the challenges up to you to post after ROSALIE starts the board - what do you say? I don't think I'll wear the glasses all the time, don't think it's necessary, just when I'm doing a lot of reading I'd say, though for the distance, sometimes when I'm watching the boob tube, driving, they bother me, so I guess I'll have to adopt the wait and see attitude, wait and get the glasses, then see if I can see!!!!
CHERYL, you're the first person I've ever seen that puts butter in their oatmeal, not that I really take notice of that stuff, but never heard of it. Must be yummy! What plans do you have for your agave?
Okay, time to hit the urination station and go see how many minutes are left on my pot pie!!!
Toodles

Pancho 07-15-2003, 01:10 PM Good Tuesday morning all:
My 12-month old is still in bed; I had to go make sure she was breathing a few minutes ago. She must still be exhausted from the trip and being sick. I am going to drag the kids to the gym with me today since everyone is well, and I need to get back into the swing of things.
My breakfast today was a bowl of shredded wheat with some Uncle Sam sprinkled in it.
Don't have much time to post, since I still need to get dressed to get outta here.
BOB: Let us know what the doc says Friday! I hope the news is good, and you can find out what is going on. I can't wait for our monsoons to starts; I think within a week they will get going.
heartmom: WOW, 8 3/4", what an accomplishment. Who cares what that ole scale says anyway!
Debelli: Good thing you decided to go back on your eyes. How can someone make a mistake like that anyway?
Monet: Welcome Back. It sounds as if you had a fun vacation. Now back to reality, huh? But it is so nice to get back home and into your own bed and routine.
College: 1-2 starchy carbs per day if you are trying to lose, but you don't have to count your milk, yogurt, fruits and veggies like you did on Atkins.
Jack: Good idea on posting one meal a day. It's so much easier for me to post one of my meals instead of trying to remember everything I've eaten throughout the day.
Well....she's up. I better run. I will check in later. Have a good Tuesday!
heartmom 07-15-2003, 01:44 PM For all those commenting on the 8 and 3/4 " loss- keep in mind that I measure EVERYTHING. Even my ankles, which were down a 1/4". I measure my upper and lower arms, my waist, my gut(abdomen), my hips, upper and lower thighs, my upper and lower knees, and calves. And bust and whatever else I can get a tape around, lol. But it's the best way too see if you're getting smaller.
Okay, BF was the same as yesterday. I had a peach and a sf yogurt. I am planning on having a cheat today! I'm going to eat au gratin potatoes with my roast and green beans tonight. I plan on exercising today, mowing some grass this evening, and cleaning the car to make up for it,lol. And I plan on eating early. For the past few days I've limited my starches to no more than 2 a day and have been really doing well. I'm at 185.5 today- that's 3 pounds lost this week, I can't believe it! I'm stoked! Sorry, I was so excited I couldn't wait until WIW. I haven't lost that much in a week since before Easter. Okay, I'm settling down now...COUNTRY- I need to get hubby to take a pic of me now and then I will set it up like you did before. Oh, and I have to figure out what's wrong with my scanner. BTW- love your avatar. I've made excuses for years for not getting a family photo done(my weight).
Rosalie 07-15-2003, 02:42 PM Hi Everyone
Had the same breakfast this morning as yesterday. RICE & SHINE hot cereal with 7 oz 1% milk and 1/2 cup raspberries. Plus coffee of course.
Deb - Hope you get your car fixed and it doesn't cost you an arm and a leg. Thanks for posting the TT on metabolism. It's a good one. See my post to Jack-K below.
Jack-K - You must have been reading my mind. I will be starting the board the next two weeks while Deb is away and I had thought of suggesting we all post our lunches next week and then dinner the following week. What do you think DEB? Since writing this I see Deb's other post to you. So if you want to post the challenge next week that's fine, I will leave it up to you unless you want me to do it when I start the board.
Monet - I think it is a good idea to get on that scale to see what damage (if any) you have done and then just jump right back on that old wagon.
Cherylco - Glad to see that you are starting to go down. For me the only thing that seems to work is to cut down those starchy carbs.
BOB - Hope the doctor will have some answers for you on Friday. You've sure waited long enough.
Marie.
TVthatsME 07-15-2003, 02:56 PM Sorry for the 3 month disappearing act. Both boys playing baseball was just too much. I have had no spare time between work/home/ball etc...
So baseball season is over and man, did the concession stands hurt:o I hate to admit that I've topped the scale and un-done all that I had done. So now, to start over...
I joined Curves yesterday, which is something I've never done before. I've always been a couch potato, but something has gotta give. I can't live like this!!
I was doing WW for awhile and it seemed OK, but I got tired of counting points pretty fast. I'm gonna try to get back onboard and do the SB/WW combo this week. Right now I'm kinda detoxing by drinking my water and trying to start this exercise program.
Glad to see you all again. Will catch up more later!
Ellen 07-15-2003, 04:26 PM Afternoon! I went ahead and jumped on the scale. I gained about 2 pounds. That could be water weight too, so I was floored and very happy!
Trying hard to be back on the old wagon today. They had corned beef, and swiss cheese on sale at Publix though, so I got that, rye bread and some sauerkraut. I am having Reubens for dinner! Woo hoo! Can't wait! I love them!
BOB: I got oysters and shrimp, mostly. Laura is picky, and does not like seafood, much anyway, so we did not get to eat at seafood restaurants as much as I would have liked. We hit one place that gave you a bowl of fried oysters that was HUGE! They were not as good as Captain Bryan's in Sarasota though.... :)
DEB: Liquid Splenda does not have maltodextrin in it. It is pure sucralose. The maltodextrin is to bulk it up to be spoonable and measure like sugar. Lots of dieters would like them to sell the liquid stuff here. They do in other countries, but not the US. You can only get it here if you are a manufacturer. Bummer!
PANCHO, CHERYLCO, JACK, COUNTRY, ROSALIE, and anyone I missed....(I did not do this the right way, and can't go back and check names! Please forgive me if I missed you!) Thanks for the welcome back! I am feeling pretty good about the scale. It will be easier to jump right back on knowing I may actually lose with my new levels of thyroid meds!
Be back later!
CountryMom4Him 07-15-2003, 04:35 PM Can you smell it..lazagna is cooking in the oven...yum yum. After last nights super walk I am hyped about getting back out tonight. Hopefully the rain will hold off or at least be light.
Break this morning was 2 pieces of bacon...2 olives and about 1/2 an ounce of cheese. I was nibbling while I made the kids a feast. I won't say what they had but it was a carb night mare. :)
Jack-K...thank you. Hopefully Sin is coming home today. The stress test went well. She goes to her regular doctor tomorrow and I'm hoping they will make some changes that will help her feel better. They are putting her on an 1800 calorie diet. I hope she will try and be faithful to it. She is too young for these health issues. But praise God her heart is healthy.
Cherlco...I make the kids oatmeal with butter also.
Poncho...sorry your little one is still feeling down.
Rosalie....raspberries sound yummy for breakfast. I don't think I've ever had a fresh raspberry. Just blue berry and strawberries.
Deb...sorry your car is draining your pocket book. We have ours in the shop now and I'm praying we can even afford to get it fixed. It may be the gasket or it could be the engine...agh.
Hope everyone is having a super day. Howdy to everyone that I missed....Grin...Beth.....Tranquil...Bob...Monet.. ..Trish....Frog...TV....Sarinia....lawyer....and EVERBODY!
Love,
Crystle
Jenn in MN 07-15-2003, 04:39 PM HI everyone,
I'm still around, just had a whirlwind of a couple of weeks, both at work and at home.
Interesting news - my therapist has changed my diagnosis from depression to bipolar... I have to say, this makes much more sense to me, and explains why I could go months at a time without being depressed.
So the good news is I finally have a plausible explanation of my mood swings, and we have the ability to come up with a treatment plan!
The bad news is we can't start anything until after I have the baby. But we at least know what to watch for!
As far as I know everything else is going well - the baby should be growing like a little weed! I have my next doctor visit a week from Friday, and if all looks good then we'll tell the family.
My eating has been awful. I mean seriously bad. My morning sickness never got really bad, but I was drinking lemonade and eating ginger snaps to keep it at bay. Not to mention the carb fest because that's all I feel like eating. I normally love meats and eggs and such, but I just haven't been able to eat them the last few weeks. Now that I'm about to move into the second trimester (at the end of the month) maybe I can swing my diet back around, especially because the baby's growth will take off from here on out.
Anyhow, that's about it (isn't that enough??? ) and I hope you all are doing well. :grouphug:
Jenn
Solly 07-15-2003, 05:47 PM Got to run get my nails done.
Just catching up.
Deb, I'd be glad to put the challenge on the board. I hope you don't think I'm butting in by suggesting it and lunch next week. The only thing with bifocals, is you have to wear them to get used to them. If yu take them on and off you will have a hard time adjusting. Espeically doing steps. Man those cars can rack in the money so quick. Kills my soul to pay it to, Sorta like buying underwear.
Pancho, hope yu get a good workout at the gym. Glad you liked my idea. Just thught it might give others some new ideas for breakfast.
Heartmom, congrats on the 3 lbs. You got out of the 190's and went soaring. WTG. my 2 cents worth, if I was going to eat the potatoes, I wouldn't eat any other starchy carbs for the day and just count them as my starch carb and go on. YHou will be fine.
rosalie, No, please go ahead and put the challenge on the board when you start them. I may not be able to get on as early as needed. I would appreciate you doing it. But I think lunch next week and dinner the next is a great idea.
TV, glad you are back. Glad you joined curves. One of my co-workers goes with her 11 yr old and they both love it.
Monet, 2 lbs is nothing. Sat & Sun I gained 5. So you did great over almost 2 weeks. Man, I love Rubens. May have to make DH take me to get one tonight.
Crystal. Glad DS is coming home. That will be easier on you for sure. Olives for bf?
Jenn, Hope everything is ok with the Dr visit. It must be hard not telling the family yet. I know you must be bursting. Glad you got a diagnosis that makes sense. Hope they can do soemthing for it.
Have a great night. Hope to be at chat. Good luck on WIW to everyone.
Jackie
THE BIG ORANGE BABE 07-15-2003, 05:55 PM Just heard from Gator...her Father was put into the hopsital unexpectedly and she won't be on the board for a few days.
I too am hoping for a good end to this problem...I've had this pain for WAY to long...The pain is actually better, but the numbness continues...(I think I said that yesterday) (you know, they say obesity leads to dementia!)
DEB...I've won progressive glasses for a while now and wouldn't have anything else! Once you get used to them you will love them.
ALTHOUGH...as active as you are, I can see you with contacts mor than glasses..they now make them for us blind people! I have them, but don't wear them!
JENN..glad you finally got some answers..how will you do this through out your pregnancy without meds though?
JACKIE...enjoy your manicure...
GOTTA FLY
BOB
Teensybean 07-15-2003, 07:49 PM Hey everyone-- just a quick little post before getting back to my yard work. Took my Mom and went to the lake yesterday. We keep our pontoon boat moored during the summer, and try to get down as often as possible. The weather was gorgeous, the fish were biting.....couldn't ask for a nicer day. We had originally planned to spend the night, but Dh got a call that he was needed to run loader, so we went for the day. Then when we got home, we found out that they worked MONDAY instead. So we got screwed out of a day at the lake, and DH got screwed out of a days work!!
Tried the cobbler recipe with my rhubarb.....FANTASTIC!!
Made a loaf of bread using the apple juice instead of honey and molasses. Again.....FANTASTIC!!
Question: Agave nectar....how much do you use? If a recipe calls for 1 Tbl of sweetner, do you use 1 Tbl of agave?? When I use the stevia liquid 1 tsp= 3/4 cup.
Will be back this evening for some replies.
woodfrogs 07-15-2003, 08:19 PM Today was a good day, the boss came over to my desk and was helpful for a change..
My sister is doing well after her surgery last week, she's staying with Dad and his wife.
I need to go walk on the treadmill, when I don't make it to the gym I try to do at least 2 miles while the laundry goes(plus watch some TV).
Have a good night.

cherylco 07-15-2003, 11:26 PM Ok I am always reading stuff on sugar and the glycemic index.
I went back and read Rick Mendosa's site again. I found an interesting thing on this page:
http://diabetes.about.com/library/mendosagi/nmendosagi.htm
"Of much greater concern is how protein and fat affect blood glucose levels in the long term," Jennie Brand-Miller of the University of Sydney writes me. "High fat and high protein diets have the distinct potential to induce insulin resistance, which would mean that any carbohydrate eaten would raise blood glucose and insulin levels to greater heights on a day to day basis."
So this would explain why Atkins people gain when they eat carbs, right?
Deb butter in my oatmeal must be a Yankee thing ;)
I use the Agave in my coffee, oatmeal, whatever. I ran out and the store sells 8 0z for 5 bucks. When I order online it ends up costing me like 3.25 for the same amount or something like that.
Crystle
Do you make legal lasagna?

It makes such a big difference when you know there is something medically wrong with you and it's not all in your head!
woodfrogs 07-15-2003, 11:37 PM Hi everyone,
I was asleep, the husband comes home from a meeting, turns on the tv and starts crunching on chocolate covered almonds. Talk about not sleeping anymore! So I'm posting instead...no almonds for me. I had ww mac and cheese(low-fat cheddar) tonight, walked 2 miles on the treadmill and was doing pretty well until this...I love m husband, but this is silly.
Barbara
cherylco 07-15-2003, 11:50 PM Anyone recomend a good Pedometer?
Woodfrog good for you! Stay strong! Give him one of these LOL :rollpin:
Debelli 07-16-2003, 08:45 AM Good WEIGH IN WEDNESDAY MORNING!
Up early, well, at least for summer time, but pooped! Got in late last night, almost 11pm by the time I finally got home. The meeting I had was sooo long that I left before it was over. I had to pick up both kids in totally opposite and far directions AND get bas in between them both.
I hope the scales are smiling up at everyone today for WEIGH IN WEDNESDAY!!!:D
Well, some sorta good news...yesterday, got a phone call from the libary. Asked what DVD's came in, since I just was there and picked up a few - the lady says, "oh no, we are calling you for an interview!" Darn, did I feel stupid! Anyhow, she say's " we have you scheduled for (time) on July 22nd. Ummm, I'm leaving Saturday the 19th for 10 days:eek: I asked her if I can schedule before I go, nope:nono: How about after I get back? Nope:nono: So I say, "you mean I'm not eligible for this position than?," she said I was correct. As she's ready to hang up she asked me to hold and came back with an appt. for me to come this Friday. First it was at 3pm, then she called back and changed it to 10am, so this Friday at 10am, I have a job interview!:cp: Let's see what happens. At least I know I"m in the running!!!:spin:
Have a ton of crap to do today, places to go and we are going to try and get a fairly early start. First, take the car to the mechanic and then head out from there. Going to go to this eyeglass outlet up in Broward to see if they have some frames I like. They charge $89.99 for progressive lens glasses - is that a good price? I have another 10% off coupon if that helps make it a better deal. Haven't a clue! If it had been single vision, they'd be less than $30 - that's a great deal I do believe. Have a few other places to run to as well, including the salvage yard in hopes I can get a replacement for my rear brake light that I busted out.
Breakfast, though I haven't eaten it as of yet, will be some
1oz Fiber One
2oz SF soy milk
maybe a piece of fruit, have to see what we have avail.
Not too heavy as we'll probably have an early lunch at OLE OLE:hun:
I see with the new board look, "WE HAVE SOME NEW SMILIES!!!" Make sure you check them out!
Gotta say, in this weeks poll, the test, even though I've been on SB, I can see from my personal score, I still have a long way to go. I still scored high in the SEVERE EMOTIONAL EATING, even though, long ago, it would of been higher, so progress has been made. Luckly, I'm only 1 point over from being a MODERATE EMOTIONAL EATER, so close, but no cigar yet.
Gonna try to get in a few replies...
PANCHO, hope you got to the gym yesterday! Is everyone feeling better? Not sure how they could make such a mistake at the eye place - I'm sure I'm not the first, or the last, which is sad for some people. I don't feel I need them all the time, just when I'm doing a lot of reading. I guess once I get them I'll see if I can see better, hope so!!!
HEART, I agree, I think the tape measure is a great way to measure how you are chipping away at the old body! Unfortunately, my tm is showing bigger than I'd like, but I'd chose that over the scale any day! I hope today's WIW reflects your great loss this week, or even better! Let us know!
ROSALIE, car has alreaday cost me an arm and a leg, now it's going for my arse! I can't fix everything wrong, only will do so on the stuff they say is really important, two sensors aren't good, one is the ABS BRAKE and it would cost almost $800 to fix.:nono: I'll just drive without ABS! I think that would be great for JACKK to help you out with the board-I'm for it!!! Will e-mail the other MM e-mail soon. See my post below to MONET, any ideas?
TV, glad to see you back! Good luck at CURVES, I see there's quite a few of the other gals that go there. Wish they had one down my way, at least so I could check it out.
MONET, I first bought Splenda from Canada, before it was available here. I wonder if the liquid is available up there. Maybe ROSALIE would know. I'm happy with my stevia. Have you ever tried to work with Xylitol?
COUNTRY, as I mentioned to ROSALIE, I can't fix everything that needs fixin in my car, just what's necessary. Not only does it need fixin, it desperately needs a major car wash and clean out before we go. I have a white car, been months since it's been washed - need I say more? Hope you get your car fixed as well, yes, they are draining on the pocket book, but mines out for draining blood now:eek:
JENN, happy to see your post, was wondering where you'd been. I'm glad to see a proper diagnosis has been made. Have you asked how this will possibly affect you after the baby is born, if it possibly does? Very important to address an issue such as this as so many women have problems with post-partum as it is. Can't wait for you to go next Friday and then break the news to everyone - they really still have no clue???????:?:
JACKK, I'm sure it's going to take some time to get use to the glasses, I just hope I don't look stupid in them! Thanks again for doing the weekly challenge for me. As I said on the phone, if you want to make it a weekly job, I'm ALL FOR IT!!!!!!:D
BOB, sorry to hear about GATORS Dad. Is he local for her? I would never wear contacts. I don't think I need these glasses all the time, and besides, I could never stick anything in my eyes, no way:nono:
TEENSY, sounds like you are enjoying the summer. Sorry DH got screwed out of a day, that sucks. In an amount as small as a TBL, I'd use it measure for measure. When in doubt, it's hard to say for sure, but I guess it's more trial and error than anything else. Most of the recipes I convert use honey so that's measure-for-measure. I'm not much of a cook/baker, but maybe MONET or someone else can answer your question a bit better.
WOOD, sounds like you're doing well, keep up the great work. Hope DS feels better with each passing day!
CHERYL, even with shipping, the agave is that low? Not bad, if so! My kids use agave on pancakes and waffles. Mostly I use it when I bake, not for anything else. For me to put it in something like tea, I'd have to use too much to get the sweetening effect I want and that I get with stevia, not to mention, it's a lot lower in carbs. Remember, 1 tsp has 5 carbs and 16 calories, so it does add up. Wish I could recommend a good pedometer, but I haven't a clue. Here's a site that may answer some questions. If you find one you like, check Ebay for pricing.
PEDOMETERS (http://walking.about.com/library/gg/aatppedometercalorie.htm)
Well, I've caught up, I do believe! Going to start to go get ready for the day. Will try to check in later this evening.
Have a wonderful day!

amhlawyer 07-16-2003, 09:46 AM Happy WIW, all! I'm down about 1.5 lbs from last week - I'm at 182.5! If I could just lose 3 more I'll be in the 170's!!! Yippeee!!
Deb - good luck with the job interview!
Barbara - you need to give the hubby a smacker-oo! What kind of torturer is he? I'm so lucky that my hubby is into this woe with me. He's doing it because of his cholesterol and he's usually more committed than me. I'm the one, though, who reads all the labels and can tell you what product has fructose/modified food starch/sugar hiding in it (did you know most peanuts have sugar added to the roasting process????)
I'm excited and nervous to fly to Seattle next week with my 21 month old daughter. My husband is taking the boy on a road trip to visit family while Zoe and I jet across the country to see my dad. Of course, this means I not only have to pack for myself and my daughter, but I also have to pack everything my husband will need with my son on his 6 day tour of the mid-atlantic states. Women are the primary caregivers for a reason, but it still frustrates me that I'm the only one who can pack their stuff!
Have a nice hump-day, all!
Rosalie 07-16-2003, 09:48 AM Good Morning Everyone
Just a quick check in for WIW. I am down to 194 pounds to-day - that's 1.5 less than last WIW.
Deb - That's great that you got called for another interview at the library. At least you know you are still in the running. I will check out the SPLENDA next time I am in the grocery store to see if the liquid is available here.
Sorry I don't have time for any more replies. My dil is bringing the two gk's over soon and I have to get in the shower and have breakfast before she comes. I am going out with the other gm. We are taking the kids to the park to play a bit of badminton.
Breakfast this morning will be Oatmeal 1/4 cup with 1% milk and frozen mixed berries.
See you all later.
Marie.
Zanne 07-16-2003, 10:15 AM Hi Gang!
I've been trying to peek at the boards, but haven't kept up too much. I hope all are well.
I went to chat last night, but no one else came while I was there:( I waited for 20 minutes. But it's summer time and everyone's busy.
I've been doing really well with my workouts and pretty good with the eating. But I'm a little upset cause a couple of days ago, all of a sudden, I just felt all puffed up. My clothes were tight and I just felt bigger. Well, I did my measurements yesterday and I AM bigger!:stress: Even my bust which has been the same for ages (no matter if I lose or gain a few) is bigger. Bras I bought a couple of weeks ago and fit me then are now tight and uncomfortable. It's kinda depressing. So I'm definately not going near the scale today.
But I'm still going to plug along and try my best to stay OP with my eating and workouts. DH is still asking if I bought any chips:lol: At least I know he's too lazy to go get his own, so I won't have the temptation around.
Looks like there's already a couple of losers on the board. Way to go!!!
I better go. I have to take the car for a tuneup and walk home. It looks like it might rain and I don't want to get caught in that.
Have a great day all.
GhostDeen 07-16-2003, 10:21 AM Well, I weighed in this morning, and I'm already down three pounds from where I started a week and a half ago. Yeah! I'm especially thankful for that because I had several bites of illegal cheesecake at dinner last night! *lol* But, anyway, here's my stats:
208/205/150
Congratulations all you losers! :)
BOBatwork 07-16-2003, 11:21 AM :hot: :hot: :tired: :tied: :faint: :stress:
This is how BOB feels today...would've put more negative faces, but the system won't allow me to do it!
didn't sleep as much as I would have liked to...
Nothing to say.....scale is up 1 lbs....
BACK TO WORK

Teensybean 07-16-2003, 02:38 PM Good Morning All-- I am SO happy today!! I did it!! I have lost 100 pounds!! :cb: Actually I have been this weight since Saturday, but wanted to wait for our WIW to post it!! You people have been absolutely wonderful to me. Can't thank you all enough. Now I plan on keeping up with all of my exercise and eating OP and seeing if I can lose 15 to 20 more!!

Solly 07-16-2003, 05:32 PM Just a quickie. It is a zoo here and I am losing my mind. Tried to read all the posts, actually started this morning and just now got back to the board. I have skimmed and hope I didn't miss anyone, if I did, it was not intentional.
Not happy camper. Up 2 lbs today. Oh well.
BF was 2 scrambled eggs, 2 pcs of bacon. 3/4 c grapefruit juice.
Bob, thanks for the update on Gator. Hope things go ok.
Teensy, sounds like you have been cooking up a storm. Bummer about losing a day at the lake. :bravo: :cb: Yahoo! 100 pounds. You are awesome. Congrats. Now you need to get an avatar like mine.
Woodfrog, Men, you gotta love them. WTG on pasisng on the almonds.
Deb, so glad you got that interview and got it worked out to be there. I knew you would get a call. Hope you be going doesn't matter. I said they same thing about contacts. I tried them and loved them. Just can't see with them. I'd give anything to get rid of these glasses. Would have the laser surgery if it would correct both near and far.
Lawyer, Yeah for the 1.4 lbs. You will hit those 170's soon. If it makes you feel bette,r I pack for my DH too.
Rosalie, Good for you on the 1.5 lbs. You are doing great.

Pancho 07-16-2003, 06:28 PM Happy WIW. I weighed 125.5 this morning. That is my lowest since I started to lose weight the end of February. I have been fluctuating between that and 127; maybe I am where I am supposed to be now. We will see. If I could get to 120, I would be really happy, but if I stay where I am at and just tone up more, I will be fine with that too. The personal trainer from my gym called to set up my "complimentary" session for Monday at 6 a.m. I will get measured at that time and be able to compare it to my measurements in early March. It should be interesting and I will post my progress when I get on Monday. It will be a 4-month progress report.
I loaded up the kids and went to the gym yesterday, and my 12-month old cried so much (separation anxiety) that I didn't even make it to the gym floor. I hid in a corner of the daycare for 15 minutes listening to her cry inconsolably while everyone tried to make her happy. Well, my only exercise was toting her back out to the car and driving home. What a bummer, but what can I do? I went this morning at 6 a.m. Wednesdays, my husband stays home while I go to the gym and then leaves for work when I get home. Wed. & Sat. are my only "for sure" days to work out; the rest are decided by my kids. So much for joining a gym with childcare, eh?
For breakfast I had a Blue Bunny Yogurt with Gram's Gourmet Cinnamon granola on it. I just had chicken salad in a whole wheat pita for lunch, and dinner will be some sort of pasta dish. I haven't had pasta in quite a while. I have had a sugar-free cappuccino today and a small piece of boboli pizza that my daughter made at a friend's house. I will probably eat some cherries soon.
Debelli: How in the world are you planning on finding time in your busy schedule to work? Good luck with the interview. The kids are doing better now (knock on wood). Thanks for asking.
Zanne: Sorry to hear about your measurements; what a bummer! Could you be building muscle tone? Hopeful, but possible.
Ghostdeen, Rosalie, Lawyer: Congrats on your losses.
Teensy: What a plateau to break? Congratulations. You must be so proud!!
Well, better run and get a few things done while the baby is asleep.
Take care and have a great day!
Jenn in MN 07-16-2003, 06:42 PM Hi everyone, this is a quickie because I have a headache and just want to go home. :(
WIW - I've lost 3 lbs.! This isn't "official", so we'll see what the scale says at my appt. next week, but the good news is I'm not up a bazillion like I thought! Getting out of the first tri with no official weight gain is a true blessing.
-- Jenn
HiedieHo All!
Believe it or not, it's me!!!! I hope the old-timers here remember me! I'm so glad to have my computer back ($200+) but my owrm is gone, have more RAM, sound is back, it is cleaned and coling fan works. Was told it should last a few more years. A friend of DIL had it a while but never got around to fixing it. so I took the plunge and paid to have it done right.
I truly have missed you all. I thank Debbie and Mary for their calls. Now I need help! I really fell off the da*n wagon. I had a bad spell where I couldn't move around much and was feeling sorry for me and you know the result. So Bob if you're still driving the wagon stop by for me with a XL seat belt. I'll be ready to grab ahold!!!
I did finish that 19 colors afghan with the 12 charted designs and 2 coordinating pillows. Made a solid color Mock Aran for DD with 2 pillows. Am now working on a baby announcement in Xst for a friend's new GD.
Habitat took part in a fair and they sold my Xsting.
I have been off the board for about 2 months. I know there are a lot of newcomers in that tiime, I hope to get to know you all and renew old friendships. I am going to start the Board from this week.
Take care, Shirley
THE BIG ORANGE BABE 07-16-2003, 08:27 PM SHIRLEY!!!!! GREAT TO SEE YOU!!!! You've had us so worried!
Glad to know the biggest problem was the computer!
Youve got a lot of catching up to do!!!! WELCOME HOME!!!
BOB
Debelli 07-16-2003, 09:08 PM Evening All:wave:
Please forgive me for not having time to address everyone individually. As the days go by I find I have more things to do before we leave at dark-o-thirty Saturday morning. Between tomorrow and Friday, I don't know how it will all get done. THEN on top of it all, we have a wedding on Friday night that starts at 8pm, then the reception, then have to drop Minnie and Morris off (ELI's old customers) and then home. Getting up around 4-5ish and then I'm off! Will def. have to hit a SB's sometime in the morning!
Let's see, the car cost me ANOTHER $205! So over $300 in just 2 days - doesn't that all out suck!!!
Oh, I did forget to mention something-I finally tip toed on the scale. Of course, I wasn't happy with what I saw, but it could of been worse. I've been 100% OP, not counting that little bit of calamari, which I really don't think of as a cheat if you look at the GL. Anyhow, I'm going to keep focused, stay OP as I have been and just wait patiently as the few pounds I've gained comes back off. Would be helpful if I was able to get in some exercise, but with the toe broken, that will have to wait.
TEENSY, CONGRATS on hitting the 100lb mark! http://members.aol.com/eldemila/scale_hurrah.jpg That's awesome. Now you need to get the little image from JACKK so you too can have this in your posts - please ask her for the copy!!!
JACKK, see above, can you send TEENSY the 100lb pic?
SHIRLEY, thank goodness you're back!!!! You were terribly missed!
Okay, gotta run - have a lot of ironing to get done.
Will try to check in sometime tomorrow.

CountryMom4Him 07-16-2003, 09:31 PM Man has it been a wild couple of days. We thought Sin was coming home yesterday...NOT. They said the stress test indicated a blockage and were gonna do a heart cath. They said there was only a 20 percent chance the test was wrong. Praise God NO blockage!!!! Needless to say breakfast was a cup of decaf and lunch was 4 melba toast out of a bag of mixed junk dillies. She will get to come home tomorrow.
Cherylco...yes my lazagana is legal. I use Hunts no sugar added spagetti sauce and stone ground whole wheat pasta. The best part is you can't tell it's legal. My whole crew loves it. It's full of meat and cheese so it's not lo-cal but legal. It doesn't take much to fill up so it's a nice treat.
WTG Teensy----Colleen!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
((Sef)) Welcome back!
Deb....yeah on the interview! You will do great.
Congratulations to all this weeks losers. I'm not sure but I think I may be down a pound. I am not at home so will weigh when I get back.
Love and hugs,

That stinks about the gym. I remember going at 6:00 am because it was easier then getting both kids in daycare!

welcome back! Like your new Avatar.

Down a pound 101!
Debelli 07-16-2003, 11:02 PM Just a quickie...
Got a phone call a little while ago from MELF. She wanted to let you all know she'll be back on the board soon. She got a new job doing private nursing which should give her a bit more time to do a post once in a while. Just wanted to come and tell you she sent you all a big hello:wave:
Teensybean 07-17-2003, 12:50 AM Evening ladies-- Just checking in tonight. Just finished dinner and the dishes. Made a shrimp stir fry tonight. I thought it turned out pretty tasty!! They had peaches and nectarines on sale for .78 per pound so I bought a bunch. Thought I would make a peach cobbler this Saturday to take for the family pot luck. Since the rhubarb was so good.
Grandma got to come home today. She will have to go back to the hospital a couple times a week for her therapy. Mom spent all day yesterday getting her house ready. Removing the rugs and prettying up a bedroom for her. They will do great together.
Dh said he is down a couple more pounds. Yeah!! Makes me so mad, he even cheats when he wants to and still loses. MEN!!
Jack-k--Thank you, and I would love to get an avatar like yours. I will see what I can find, any suggestions on sites to check out??
BOB-- If you were here, we sure as he** would do the town. (If I remember how to....)
Pancho--AWESOME!! New low, that is fantastic!! I'll bet you have lost a lot of inches too. Let us know on Monday.
Jenn- You are doing a super job. I lost weight during my second pregnancy, up until the last month. I just noticed your EDD, THAT IS MY BIRTHDAY!!
Sef-- Welcome back. I think I had just joined when you left us. (Hope it wasn't something I said!)
Deb-- Thanks again, you guys are the greatest! I hope that you have a safe and happy trip. Don't run yourself ragged before you leave though. Save some energy for the trip!!
Country-- That lasagna sounds great. All I have been able to find so far is WW spaghetti noodles. Guess, I better check around some more.
Cherylco--Way to go on the loss!! We are all melting away.
Sweet Dreams to you all.......
Rosalie 07-17-2003, 02:19 AM Teensybean - Congratulations on losing 100 lbs. That's fantastic.
Sef - Welcome back. We've missed your cheery posts.
Congrats to all the losers this week. I really should go to bed. I've been busy catching up on some reading but it's time to hit the sack if I'm to get up on time in the morning.
Bye for now.
Marie.
ladyporsche 07-17-2003, 08:27 AM Good morning! I'm down to 112.8 this afternoon after starting at 119 on June 9--was doing Atkins for about 4 mos--really hated it!! Love SB!!! and LOVE FITDAY.COM!!! This has helped so much!
Deb--Did the calamari at Carrabba's have breading? How much did you eat? We eat at Carrabba's all the time and I just end up having the grilled salmon and roasted veggies. Would LOVE to have a bite or two of the fried calamari.
Cherylco--I was born and raised in West Texas and my dad always but butter and sugar in our rice or oatmeal. The past week I've had 1 c oatmeal and 1slice extra crispy bacom for b/f. We eat at Cracker Barrell every a.m. on our way to work so I just carry my Splenda packets and that oatmeal tastes so yummy.
Congrats to everyone--my daughter (Becca) just found this forum and everytime she asks me a question (I'm still such a novice) I tell her to ask you experts! I think she signed on as Aggiegirl. I told her you guys are really good with the answers. Have a great day and thanks a billion for all the help and support.
Debelli 07-17-2003, 08:31 AM Good Thursday Morning:wave:
Up early because I have a list to do today, all little things, that is, unless I get an appt. to get my hair done. It's been almost 8months since it's been touched - my roots are awful:eek: Thought it would be good to get it done not only for the interview tomorrow, but the wedding tomorrow night and for the one we have for my cousin on Aug 9th. Not sure if she has a spot or not, hope so.
LAUREN is going to help out at school, so I have to get her up and get her over to the school around 9ish, so off to the showers I go.
Have a great day!!!!

Debelli 07-17-2003, 08:39 AM OMG, I totally forgot, in all the running around, to check my BIRTHDAY LIST this week! I'm so sorry!!!! :faint:

Sorry it's belated!!!! FORGIVE ME!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Debelli 07-17-2003, 08:47 AM LADY, quick reply, yes, the calamari does have breading, light, but still breading just the same. What you should learn is not only about the GLYCEMIC INDEX, but the GLYCEMIC LOAD as well. If I was to eat just breading alone (like there's anyone who would?) it would be very high GI, but the calamari, which has no GI to register a rise, lowers the GI of the breading on the calamari, as does the tomato sauce-type sauce they give you. How many did I eat, :chin: that's hard to say, not the whole plate, maybe half, a little less? I'm more worried about the fat content than the breading!!!
jecrites 07-17-2003, 09:33 AM Hello everyone. Sorry I haven't been around in a while. We took the kids to hubby's parents for a couple weeks July 4th weekend, we are supposed to be leaving on Saturday to go get them and be gone for about a week. Nothing has changed for me, no loss but no gain either, which is good because eating has sucked. Hopefully after school starts back I can get back into the swing of things, it's just hard to stay OP with the kids home all the time during the summer. I just wanted to check in after I got a message from Deb, and then figured out how to work these new changes to the site. I haven't even read any of the posts, and since there are so many of them I probably won't get a chance to. I do plan to be back on here regularly after we get back from our little "vacation" if you want to call it that. Gonna go for now, I'll talk to y'all later.
Jenn
Solly 07-17-2003, 10:02 AM Trying to get this post in early before the day gets hectic.
Had to ride to Elizabethtown last night with DH to look at a new truck he wants to buy. 2 hour ride after the day I had was not what I wanted to do,but oh the things we do for the men we love. He found one so now he will be happy.
Bob, our trip to Florida is off. Couldn't work it out. Maybe next year.
Since that trip is cancelled, DH & I are going back to Punta Cana in the Dominican Republic. I just love that place. It is an all inclusive deal. It is our 30th anniversary. I just couldn't pass that without doing something nice. We leave next Friday for 7 days. Lots to do here and at home before we leave.
BOb, Hope your Thursday is a better day. Remember, you can love a rich man as well as a poor one! Got get um girl.
Pancho, congrats on your new low. Anxious to see your stats on monday.
Jenn, congrats on your loss. You are doing great.
Sef, Welcome back. We have missed you. We have been asking about you alot. There is always room in the wagon, so get ready to hop in.
Deb, see that scale wasn't too bad on you. I need to watch where I am so I don't totally get out of control. Remember, you have lost a lot and your body probably doesn't let go of the wt like it used to. Thanks for the update on Melf. I was wondering where she went.
Crystal, how awful for your DS. I pray there is no blockage.
Cherylco, Congrats on the 1 lb loss. We had the same breakfast.
Teensy, I will email you the avatar. It's nice to have company in the "club".
Rosalie, Have a great day. Happy Belated Birthday :hb: :gift: :balloons: :hat: Hope it was a great one.
Ladyporshe, Congrats on your loss. You are doing so good. Tell your DD to ask away. We are here to help if we can.
JECrites, glad to hear from you. Jump on here when you can. Summer is hectic.
Need to dive into this mess here. Hope to be back later.
Have a great day. :sunny:
Jackie
Solly 07-17-2003, 10:16 AM Crystal,
Can you send the avatar to Teensy if you still have it. I looked for it but could only find the first one you did and we couldn't make it work. I will continue to look, but thought you might be able to find it quicker.
Thanks
Jackie
Toni48 07-17-2003, 10:49 AM Well I'm going to try again to get back on the board and stick to it. I started back on SB after being off awhile. And have gained sooo much weight back. Like 20 lbs. I'm just sick about it. My doctor called yesterday and my cholesterol is out of range and he's really unhappy with me. I've read over the posts and really missed you girls. I'm off to have breakfast now and it will be shedded wheat and orange juice. I go big grocery shopping tomorrow and will get some stock in this house. Surpriseing how you can get out of everything you need in just a short while.....
Rosalie 07-17-2003, 11:14 AM Hi All
Thanks for the birthday wishes DEB and JACK-K. Didn't do anything special but got a DVD from my ds and dd. Now I just have to figure out how to work it.
I had my usual Rice and Shine for breakfast which I had about an hour ago but will be having some back bacon and two fried eggs soon. Going out to line dancing at 11 a.m. until twelve then it's lawn bowling at 1 p.m. Going to a friends for coffee after dancing so won't have time for a proper lunch before bowling so have to fill up this morning. Will take a couple of pieces of crispbread, cheese and fruit with me in case I need to snack.
Teensy - If you right click on Jack-K's avatar you should be able to save it then you can use it for your own avatar. Just make sure it is saved as a JPEG file.
Toni - Welcome back. We've missed you.
Gotta run.
Marie.
Ellen 07-17-2003, 11:29 AM I love vacation! I slept late, had a leisurely breakfast, and am sitting here with my second cup of coffee, trying to catch up. Tomorrow the idyll ends. I have to be at work at 6! Horrors!
I have been struggling with not overdoing the SF candy we got at the Russell Stover outlet in Florida. Tom told me he was happy to buy me $40 worth of laxatives....haha! The prices there are pretty good, and some of the stuff is a great buy. They had one pound bags of seconds of the SF toffee bars, which are my fav, for less than $5. I got two of them! I put them in a Tupperware container, and I am trying hard not to 'find' them too often!
Last night we went to our small group meeting from church. We always eat dinner together. They had planned on ordering pizza since they thought we would not be there, so we carried our own dinner. I made seafood Louie salads. Yum! I got shrimp and Surimi, and used that. Everyone was jealous! I did not miss the pizza at all!
TEENSY:  :bravo:  I am SO excited for you! Thank you for your kind mention of me. I really did nothing but brag on SB. The rest came from within you. You are truly awesome! Thank you for the inspiration you give me!
ROSALIE: Oh, I hope your birthday was good! Happy Belated Birthday! :hb: :balloons:
JECRITES: Good to see you back!
TONI: Hey! Welcome back! We missed you!
SEF: It sure is good to see you back! I was worried about you! I am so relieved to hear it was just a computer problem!
JACK: Oh, a trip to the Carribbean! How fun! We have some friends who were missionaries in the DR, and loved it so much they are going back, after being retired here for several years.
Enjoy yourself! 30 years! wow! Hey, I have stayed in Elizabethtown! Nice area!
CHERYL: I love PB&J! Do you use Polaner? Fillise and I found a sugar free Apple Butter at the farmer's market here, and it makes a yummy PB&J!
COUNTRY: I think I missed something...who is Sin? :?: I agree...praise God there was no blockage. I love it when God proves the medical establishment wrong! ;)
BOB: I wasn't slacking! Honest! I was just totally wrapped up in playing on the game cube! I have gotten to a point in the game now that I don't have to play it very much.
DEB: I don't think Canada has the liquid Splenda either. I wish they would offer it here, since it is calorie and carb free. MacNeil has said they have no plans to offer it here, but a while ago there was a petition going around asking for them to consider it. Where are you off to next week? I hope your interview goes well. I have to say this: if you are staying on program and not making any progress, you really ought to get your thyroid checked. As we age, it is very common to develop hypothyroidism. Better to catch it now, then later. Remember the new range is .3 to 3.0.
LADY: Congrats on the loss! I am guessing your daughter is an Aggies fan? I smile when I see that...my sister, and neice are named Aggie, both after my mother, Agnes! :) Its a old family name, that has been used for generations....
JENN: Hope you are feeling good. Keeping your weight under control the first trimester is really smart! The second and third should be all baby! :)
I hope I did not miss anyone... I will be back later. I have to go get this mop I call hair cut....
heartmom 07-17-2003, 01:08 PM WIW had me at 185- so an official 3 pound loss this week:) Anyway, on my heart support groups(online), one of the father's mentioned about getting some weight off and that Atkins didn't work, etc. So of course I put a "plug" in for SB. Well, my email box is full of replies of people wanting me to tell them more about SB! Cool. So I plan on writing an email with a summary of SB and tips, etc to my heart support groups. I also got a response from a woman that wants her husband who is a type 2 diabetic to try it.
TEENSY-:bravo: :cp: :hat: :cb: Woohoo! That's great. I have 15 more to go and I'll be at that 100 pound mark. Doesn't it feel great?
SEF and TONI- Welcome Back!!
heartmom 07-17-2003, 01:10 PM JENN- 3 pound loss, that's great! I wish that I heard of SB when pregnant and I probably wouldn't have done so much damage. I believe SB is very healthy for you and baby.
Debelli 07-17-2003, 01:36 PM Got home a little bit, going back out after I get something to eat for lunch.
Have to tell you about this BIZARRE incident that happened this morning. Let me backtrack a little. The cousins who live in MD, well, CHELLE, the wife, asked me to find a coconut palm to bring her if I could find one. Okay, now to present.
So, this morning, after dropping LAUREN off, I decided to go to TARGET, needed some bleach and had to take something back to ROSS, which is across the street. As I'm driving down there I said to myself "why are you going all the way down there?" (which was south and out of my way), "you could of gone to the one near Dadeland (the way I had to go to do everything else would of saved me miles instead of backtracking). Was almost there, so went there.
Parked by the garden dept. and looked at the palm trees, no coconut palms:shrug: So, I go in the store via the garden dept. walk in and I hear "DEBBIE!" It's my sister with the baby! Now, if seeing her there isn't bizarre enough, I mean, she's right there, in my face, it gets better. Oh yeah, my sister usually only goes to Target on Mondays, so her being there on a Thursday is unusual enough.
Well, she's on the cell phone and hands it to me, it's my cousin KEITH, CHELLE'S husband, calling from Maryland! He called her cell, thinking it was me, and he startis saying "I won't be around when you get in....." my sister says "KEITH, this is LESLIE, I think you meant to call DEBBIE instead! Well, right after that, she sees me, right in front of her!
How bizarre is that???????????????????? We couldn't believe it!!!!!!!!
I'm going to go make a pot pie for lunch, then head back out again.
Ummmm, my car, they rotated the tires, now it "bounces" so I told ELI to deal with it, I'm sick and tired of it already, so he's taking it tomorrow, he'll be off.
Will check in later!!!
Toodles
Deb
Toni48 07-17-2003, 01:46 PM how do you make that potpie Debbie?
Debelli 07-17-2003, 01:49 PM MAKE?????????:chef: ME?????????????:?:  The only thing I make is myself go the the HFS. They're SHELTON POT PIES, though I think, somewhere on the recipe board, I have posted a recipe in the past.
Toni48 07-17-2003, 02:06 PM Oh okay thank you. I'll check and see if our piddley little HFS has them. They finally carry agave.....
THE BIG ORANGE BABE 07-17-2003, 02:22 PM WOE IS BOB!!!
Last night a wave washed over me and I started to sweat until I was drinched! Nausea.....poopie pain....you name it, I had it! Keep in mind that this all happened about 11 pm  I went on and called off work...and today, I'm not much better, and at this moment, I'm thinking that I won't be going in tomorrow either.
I'll have to cancel my appointment at the Drs, making another delay in my results of the myelogram! Can't take any PEPTO , that makes me sicker than I was to start with!
ROSALIE....SEE....NOT ONLY CAN DEBBIE NOT SEE, IT'S EFFECTED HER MEMORY!!!! HAPPY BELATED BIRTHDAY!!!!
JACKIE...You'll have a MUCH BETTER TIME on this trip than you would have in Sarasota....ANY DAY!!!
COLLEEN....I think that between the two of us, we could stagger into some bar and accomplish a good time! Maybe we can do that one day!
GALS...I'm sorry that I can't get to everyone...I've got to put my big arse back to bed...I'll check in later.
BOB
ladyporsche 07-17-2003, 03:36 PM Monet--my daughter (aggiegirl) is a 2002 graduate of Texas A & M--she now teaches 2nd graders in College Station--I so hope she marries an Aggie and I can have little Aggie grandbabies. Maybe if she has a daughter they can name her Agnes and call her Aggie for short. Cute name!!
Solly 07-17-2003, 04:55 PM Just a quickie.
I forgot to post my bf this morning:
1 c sf yogurt. 1/2 pbj sandwich.
Toni, How are you. So glad you are back. I have missed you. We were so neck and neck there, it was fun competing with you. Jump back in here, you know this works so come on and get started. Weclome home. watch those pot pies. Sheltons makes 2 kinds, one with ww and the other not. the other has potatoes in it too. Actually the ww ones are better. But the boxes are the same, so read carefully. They are really good and quick.
Rosalie, thanks for the tip on the avatar. I am computer illiterate.
Monet, tofee bars, my fav too. Put them in the freezer and they won't be so accessible. Hope tomorrow isn't too tiring for you. Always hard to go back to work after vacation.
Heartmom, Congrats on the 3 lbs. It is such an compliment when others inquire about SB after they see what you have done. I have a 4 page tip sheet (basically SB in a nut shell) that I got from another board if you would like me to email it to you.
Deb, fate. I firmly beleive things happen for a reason. Guess that was the reason you went to the other Target.
Bob, How awful you must feel. Girl you have had enough of this crap. I would try not to cancel that Dr appointment if at all possible. Feel better soon.
Have a great evening everyone.
Jackie
Pancho 07-17-2003, 07:19 PM Happy Thursday to you all:
I went to get my daughter's 12-month picture today, and got a really cute one of both of the girls. Then, the baby decided she didn't want to co-operate. I got one of her alone that is decent.
I have some exciting news. Before our trip I went to Lerner New York and bought two pairs of size 8 shorts. While away, they got baggy so I went to exchange them today and the 6's were kinda loose, and the 4's fit; can you believe it? I am sure they run a little big. There's no way I fit into a 4! I am sure I will wash them and they will shrink to where I can't even get them back up. I keep thinking I am going to wake up and weigh 152 again. A mom in my local Mom's Club told me yesterday that I look like a totally different person. I can't get enough of the compliments; it's so motivating to stick to my guns.
Jenn in MN: Way to go on your 1st trimester. I always gained plenty in those first three months.
Debelli: Sorry about your weight gain; it'll come off quick. OUCH, $300 on a car; that really stinks! Wow, what a coincidence to run into your sister who is on a phone call for you.
Country: Have you posted your lasagne recipe? Where do you find WW lasagne noodles.
Teensy: Glad your grandma is home. These men sure make dieting difficult don't they? My husband is in awesome shape, even after turning 40. He doesn't have to worry about putting weight on. He usually weighs around 180, and said to me the other day, "did you know that I am down to 171 from eating your "diet" food?" He actually has cut soda out of his diet, which I think makes a huge difference. I also now cook for the rest of the family what I cook for me. He loses it without even trying, and I've worked my tail-end off to lose what I have! He also is all muscle; that's an area I really need to work on (only if the men could carry those babies nine months, eh?).
lady: Can you believe you did Atkins now that you are doing so well on SB? I wish I had known about SB before I tortured myself those 2 months on Atkins. What is your height? What did you weigh when you started Atkins? What is your goal weight?
Rosalie: Happy belated Birthday!
Jack: Happy 30th Anniversary....Congratulations. That's wonderful!
Toni48: Welcome back. Good luck getting back into the swing of things.
Monet: Awww, back to work tomorrow, huh? Glad you enjoyed your time off. I am with you on those toffee bars. My sister has braces and bought some and said they hurt her teeth, so she gave me the box. Well, needless to say, they were gone in 3 days. I have no willpower with that stuff, that is why I don't buy them.
heart: Way to recruit to SB.
BOB: FEEL BETTER SOON!
Gotta run; Lane is up from her nap!
Have a good rest of the day, and I will check in sometime tomorrow!
OH, breakfast was two pieces of whole grain toast with "no sugar" added apricot jam, and 8 ounces of milk.
See ya!
ladyporsche 07-17-2003, 07:46 PM Pancho! When I started Atkins I weighed 119 and when I went off Atkins I weighed 119!! At least I didn't gain anything--I am only 5'1" and 5 lbs on me looks like 15. Due to heredity I am blessed w/platinum white hair, really dark skin, but could weigh 200 lbs easily if I did not watch it. I have been watching my weight since I was 25. I'm now 53, gone thru menopause, took hrt pills for 6 yrs (I quit cold turkey after the bad press) and am r feeling really great!!
I don't care if a size runs big--A 4 IS A 4!!! Congratulations!! If I knew how to do all those darling little happy faces, they'd be all over this post!!
Deb--I told my hubby about the calamari and told him if Deb could eat them, I can eat them--he's like "who's Deb"?????? Thanks for all the info.--each little fact helps.
Toni48 07-17-2003, 08:43 PM Thank you all for welcomeing me back. This board is such a motivation. It will take me awhile to get back in the swing of writing everyday again. So far so good for me. Jack-K I'm so ashamed of myself for letting myself get out of control. I'm really proud to see you've hung in there and have done so well. Congradulations. Everyone looks like they're doing good. Will probably start writing to everyone next week. Tomorrow I'll finally get some good food in this house.. Good night.....
momw3ds 07-17-2003, 09:52 PM I CANNOT do adkins. I hate all that heavy food. I have the SB book but need to re~read to get up to par again. I have 19 lbs to go till goal. Lost first 41 doing LF and have stalled for 2 months and looking for something to boost me along. I had rather go all day without eating rather than eat meat or cheese anymore. I have been at induction level carbs for 4 days and after reading SB this pm, |
