Oh my gosh! I'm away for 2 days and everybody is losing weight left and right :D

Ruth~~~WELCOME TO ONEDERLAND ! That is a huge accomplishment and I am very proud of you. :high:

Dentrassi~~~ Down another 5 pounds~Way to go, gal :bravo:

Susanje~~ Congrats on your 7# loss. I know how hard you have worked at losing weight and getting healthy over the past few years and I'm so glad that this is working for you. :cb:

Susie~~~Congrats on your 7# loss, also. I agree that it is best to take Phase 2 slowly. Good luck :cp:

Ramona~~~You are 6# lighter  Keep up the great work.

Anna and Meg~~~Keep up the great work and thanks for the support :dancer:

Shari~~WELCOME TO THE BEACH  You're on the right track because planning ahead will make this woe work.

Ali~~~Don't worry about last weekend. Come on back to the beach today :D

Linda~~~I've been reading your posts for about a year and I know that it has been a great struggle for you. But I also know that you CAN do this. Have you tried journaling to figure out why you "can't last more that 2 days"? It might help to avoid the triggers. Don't give up.

Wow! This weekly thread may have to become a daily! Such a lot of enthusiasm and support.

I may not be around much over the next three days as my dear friend Shirleyanne is coming for a visit. The PC is in my bedroom which I am turning over to her for the visit. I don't think she'd appreciate my early morning posts.

Thanks again for all the congrats and support yesterday when I lept into ONEderland. I never thought I'd get there. I am determined to never see 200 again!

Off to the Big City to pick up my friend. I'll check in when I can and I WILL stick to Phase !!!!! Seven pounds is not to be sneezed at!

I hope you don't mind if I ask you ladies a question. I am waitting for my book to arrive, but am kind of starting the eatting plan. The question is how many grams of carbs should I limit myself to in phase 1? MY husband did Atkins and his plan said no more thatn 20. Is it the same on SBD?

Thanks

Katrina, Whimsey-You are going to love this plan!! I sure hope it is as easy for you as it has been for me. Feels like I have "come home!" The first week you may experience some headaches and fatigue, but that passes after a while. Stick with it!!!

Tahoemom-You don't actually count carbs. Just eat off of the allowed foods list until you have had enough to eat. First week is low fat meats, plenty of vegetables. 3 meals and 3 snacks. Suzanne posted the list of allowable foods in this thread, so check out some of the old postings and read the recipes!

Ruth-Have fun with your friend!!!

Sil-You're right, it IS easier to type!!!!!

Meg-Thanks for the advice. I am already having a few more cravings, so I'm going to have to go VERY slow!!!

Thanks to ALL of you for being so supportive. You are a great group of women!! WE CAN DO THIS!!!!

La Dean~~~so glad you are enjoying this woe.

Ruth~~~we will miss you, by the time you post again you will be looking pretty sweet!!!!:)

Den~~~hang in there...those cravings can get nasty...keep busy and don't forget the combinations.

Sil~~~NOT everyone!!!! I'm still holding. Went back into Phase one today...hope it jump starts the old engine. Hope you are doing well.

Katrina and Whimsey~~~~how'd your first day go??? That was the only BAD day for me and it really wasn't bad at all. You are going to love it!

Hey Suzanne~~~~~~~~Where are You????

I had a good beach day today...although... I did not exercise, instead I shopped most of the day, did the "shopping shuffle" for about 6 hours, ate grilled Salmon and broccoli for lunch, and used almost every bathroom at the Mall!!!

Going to be 95 here tomorrow...yuck!! Maybe I'll sweat off a pound or two. :D

Have a great Day!!!~~~~~~~~~~Meg

Whimsey...glad I caught your post!! You should not be hungry!! You should eat until you are full. Eat some veggies, celery or peppers to help get rid of the hunger. Drink more water and if you are still experiencing this tomorrow add more fiber...like beans (chick peas, kidney etc), or drink a glass of metamucil/citrucel before meals. But please don't ever be hungry!!!

Have a great 2nd day!~~~~~~~~~Meg

Hello All and cheers to a new week with SBD. Starting Phase 2 has been a little difficult and I am really tempted to indulge. My main focus will be trying to plan snacks instead of stopping by the nut jar at every opportunity. I really hope that fruits and especially berries don't turn out to be an issue for me - two weeks without was about all I could handle.

Whimsey - I agree with Meg - please don't let yourself get hungry - remember that you can have as much as you want (maybe "need" is a better word) of the right foods. Go for it with the right foods and you'll be fine. That is what got me through Phase 1 anyways.

Welcome to the new folks - hope that this is the start of a good journey for you. We might sound like broken records - but I also feel a LOT better after two weeks weeks on the Beach. I also had a few bad days (headaches mostly) the first week but they do pass. For me - it was a good chance to catch up on some sleep.

Greetings to all you Chicks on the Beach!

I'm going to the gym in a few minutes, just wanted to check in and say 'hi' and 'welcome' to the new Beachers. :D I'm staying on P1 (Day 16 today) for another week. My loss stalled b/c I've been having too much ricotta! :devil:I'm not buying any today! Even though I get the 'lite' one, I've been having more than I should.

Otherwise, I feel great! :strong: I'm going to the Cape on the 25th and plan to start P 2 earlier that wek, so I can monitor my additions (and scale subtractions :D) while I'm still home.

We'vot HHH weather here - due for a break tomorrow - I took a walk last night sans dog b/c he's a bit slow walking in the city on the leash - and by the time I got home I was all yucky sweaty. Speaking of which (sweaty), I'd best get going. Ill check back in later.

Have a great day on the Beach and stay :strong: Chicks!

Hello everyone~ Though I'm not on the beach yet, I thought I'd stop in. Next week DH and I will be doing a bit of traveling in Wisconsin, so I'm not going to attempt the diet yet. I have to get the book and read it also.

Good morning ladies

Welcome to all the new Beach Babes~~Kat, LaDean, Rachel , Tippy and Tahoemom !!!!!

Thanks for the reminder to post our daily menues. I will try to do that each day because I know it really does help others as well as ourselves.

Suzanne~~~Would it be possible to have a sticky of the phase 1 and 2 allowed/not allowed foods? And , of course, anything else that you think would help those without their books. And where are you? Hope you are staying SB.

Meg and Dentrassi~~Today is day 29 for me and I need to slow down my phase 2 plan. Well shoot, I might as well go back to phase 1 while I'm at it. I gained 2 pounds since last weeks weigh-in. I am on TOM, so that might be some of the problem. I only added in some fruit each day: a handful of cherries and 1/4 cup blueberries on my Lemon Zest Ricotta dessert. I also need to drink more water, I think that I've been slacking in that area.

But I'm not giving up. Later today I'll post what I ate for the day and critique it.
HAVE A GREAT DAY

If somebody posts a list of the allowed/not allowed foods, I can sticky it.
Sorry I can't do it now but I have a dear friend as company until Thursday and we are having too much fun to hang around on the Beach.
Welcome to all the new folks.

Ruth-Glad you're having fun sweetie!!!!

Sil-Probably is TOM, I always gain a few pounds then!!! Doesn't seem like what you added should cause a weight gain....

Tippy-You'll love it! Have fun on your vacation!!!

Anna-Good for you!!! I need to add in exercising myself. Just losing that first 10 pounds has helped my breathing, so I should be able to do that SOON!! (I had gotten to the point where walking upstairs made me breathless.)

Susie-Same with me!! Things have been VERY chaotic around here lately, and I think my meals and snacks haven't been planned out well enough. Hopefully if I get better with timing the cravings will slack off.

Whimsey-EAT MORE!!! It WILL get easier!!!

Meg-YUP! Trying to just add a bit at a time, and not at every meal. Yesterday I had a glass of red wine with my salad at dinner (YUM!!) and I also had some strawberries. It IS setting off a few cravings (I KNOW I can eat it, so I want it all at once...trying to give myself a "treat" or two a day!!!)

LaDean-HI!!! It really IS great, isn't it?!

Scooby-WELCOME!! You'll get LOTS of support here. Lots of wonderful women here!!!

TahoeMom-No problem!! How are you liking SBD? I find it easier to stick to than Atkins.

Hello everyone and thanks for all the warm welcomes.

Today is either day 6 or day 4 for me. I started on the 2nd, but went off on the 4th. I think I will plan on July 5th as my start date. But either way I have lost 5 pounds and love it. No headaches for me, but I find myself dragging. I didn't cut out the Diet Coke yet, I figured I can't sabbotage myself that way (yes I am addicted to it). First few days I had bacon (acceptable on Atkins) but was good about not eatting that today. Other than the bacon, I was eatting the right food. Does anyone have a suggestion for breakfast, I don't like eggs, even just the egg whites. I have been eatting a cheese stick and keep telling myself that I will soon be able to add an apple or berries.

You seem like a wonderful group and I am looking forward to meeting all of the ladies on the beach.

194.5 (highest)/185 (start of the SBD)/180/140

Hi you Gorgeous Chicks on the Beach!

We sure have a gret group here! I think Rutie has the right idea - there are enough of us to have a Daily Thread!

Ellis Congrats on the continuing losses AND the new vehicle! :balloons:

Den - Mmmmm red wine and berries - I'll be adding those soon too. It's great that you'll be adding exercise soon!

Whimsey I need to be more organized about planning my menus too!

OK, I have to get in gear and go to the post officebefore it rains... I'll check in again later.

Stay :strong: on the Beach, Chicks!

Good morning

Ruth and Suzanne~~Thanks for the stickys and recipe threads. It does make things easier to find.

Ellis~~~Congrats on your "loss" :high:

Ruth~~I think that Suzanne did post the allowed foods in a thread sometime back but I can't find it. I would re-type it but I type with 2 fngers and it would take me FOREVER.

Anna~~~I think that a daily thread would be great, especially since we have so many pages in a week. Maybe, starting tomorrow, whoever gets here first can start it. What do you think, ladies?

Whimsey~~My eating and food choices have been legal but very sporadic and unplanned. I eat much better when I plan ahead and have things ready in the fridge. Today I'm going grocery shopping and that will help.

Yesterday:
B~3 veggie quiches
S~2 turkey bacon strips
1 string cheese
L~cauliflower/spinach blend topped w/mozzarella
cottage cheese w/ strawberries (P2)
S~1/2 red bell pepper with black bean hummus
D~eggbeaters omellet w/ mushrooms
S~lemon ricotta dessert w/ 1/4 cup blueberries (P2)

Today will be:
B~2 veggie quiches
V8 juice
S~ no-carb fruit flavored protein drink (from Weight Loss Center)
L~ sirloin burger patty
cauliflower/spinach blend...
D~grilled tuna steak
roasted veggies (eggplant, vidallia onions, red bell peppers and mushrooms)
small salad
S~ricotta dessert w/blueberries (P2)

I do not freeze the veggie quiches. I make a batch and keep them in an airtight container in the fridge. Heat in the microwave for a few secs and I enjoy them.

I also like to grill some chicken breasts and sirloin burger patties to have available in the fridge. It helps make for a quick lunch or snack.
Hope this helps.

Sil-Good idea to have pre-grilled meat in the fridge!! That would also help with my 16 year old who is coming home from band practice at 10 pm hungry!!!

Ellis-YUM!!! GOAT CHEESE!! And you say you can't cook...it ALL sounds GREAT!!!

Anna-YUP! Has to happen sooner or later! I took DS13 to the eye doctor this morning, and they have a KILLER set of stairs, and I WASN'T wheeaing when I got to the top, so I'm probably ready to go!!! (I sound SO thrilled, don't I?)

Well, we have air conditioning again, so I am MUCH happier today!!!

Starting my second day on the Beach...and I have that "funny feeling" that I hear so many of you talk about...

Made a mushroom and canadian bacon omelette with the egg beaters...and put a tiny bit of cheese on it...

So far, so good. And made it to the gym yesterday for 30 minutes of cardio and 15 minutes of weights...

:) Hopefully, I can see results soon and keep it up!

what kind of salad dressing to ya'll use..?? I have been using Ranch but I think that has to much fat...I do not like vinegar type salad dressings.

operadog
07-09-2003, 05:06 PM
I've been using Walden Farms - their stuff is LC and they do have a ranch type dressing - among others!

2BFIT1
07-09-2003, 05:14 PM
Whimsey~~I'm not a vinegar type person either. I usually use light ranch. I do like to make my own salad dressing sometimes, by blending in a small food processor:
flax seed oil or olive oil
lemon juice
flax seeds if I'm using olive oil
Mrs. Dash
dry mustard
a touch of sweetener ~I use Stevia
curry
cumin
I'll make up about 1/2 cup s worth and keep in the fridge

Also, if you haven't tried the Avocado dressing that goes with the pistachio-chicken salad reccipe yet, it is wonderful.

Whimsey
07-09-2003, 06:34 PM
thanks, I will try that dressing...I don't like lowfat dressings or vinegar dressings...I would rather do without. :)

ellis
07-09-2003, 08:11 PM
I use low-fat Hellmans on my coleslaw. :D
It's really good with some garlic pressed into it.

Den, someday soon you are going to be ITCHING to exercise. ;)

Congratulations, Rotobabe... keep it up!

A dressing that I really like is a lemon tahini dressing:

Use 1 tablespoon of hummus (any variety will work - plain, roasted garlic, red pepper). Mix a teaspoon or two of olive oil, a teaspoon of water and a tablespoon of lemon juice. Add black pepper if you want to also. This gives you about 3 tablespoons of dressing...enough for one nice salad.

This dressing is wonderful if you have a salad with chicken on it...:chef:

Well, guys today was my first day, and I had no trouble at all! I hope tomorrow is as easy as today. I didnt' have any sweet cravings until after dinner, but I didn't eat until I was satisfied because I overseasoned my baked salmon, and it wasn't too great. I just ate a tsp. of peanut butter to satisfy the craving.I was wondering the same thing about the salad dressings-if I were to buy a low fat dressing, what should I beware of on the label? My favorite is LF 1000 Island or LF Ranch. I dont know how much is to much as far as carbs go. I've always counted fat, so this is really new to me. Here's my menu for today-if anybody sees I did something wrong-yell at me-I'm just sort of reading the book as I go, so I might be missing something!!!
Breakfast:
omelette with 2 eggs, can. bacon, onion, ff cheese
unsw. tea
Lunch:
baked chicken
green beans with onion and dill weed
Dinner:
baked salmon with I Can't Believe It's Not Butter and lemon pepper
more of the green beans
Snack after Dinner:
1 tsp. peanut butter, and then later I ate 1 slice of lf lunch meat
