NEVER QUIT

The only way to lose is to quit. As long as you continue to make the effort, you have not lost. Everyone experiences setbacks. However, winners experience the most setbacks because winners persist as long as it takes to win.

Does it ever seem that you are blocked in every direction? That's the time to get creative, become more flexible, and open yourself to the possibilities that are most certainly there.

Sometimes when you get stuck in a rut, the rut can suddenly and unexpectedly run out. And what a great opportunity that can be for you to climb out of that rut, look around, and see all the valuable things you've been missing.

Never quit. Use each setback, each disappointment as a cue to push on ahead with more determination than ever before. Never quit, and you will always be a winner.

-- Ralph Marston

STAYING IN CONTROL

Negative habits are harmful not only because of the undesirable results to which they lead. They also steadily weaken your self control.

By giving in to a negative impulse, you are giving up some of the ability you have to live a positive, fulfilling life. You are sacrificing the real meaning in your life in order to experience a shallow, fleeting pleasure.

When carried too far, the negative habits cease to bring even momentary pleasure. By that time, you've probably forgotten that there's another choice.

Yet there is always a much more fulfilling and life-affirming way. That way is self control. As soon as you choose positive self control, not only do you avoid the destructive behavior, you also build more strength to do so. Positive, productive habits can become even stronger than negative, destructive ones.

Self control is not the easy way, for it takes effort and commitment. It is, however, the best way and it is something you can surely exercise when you understand how very far ahead it will take you.

THIS WEEKS CHALLENGES

We continue with our regular EXERCISE CHALLENGE of at least 3 days a week and our WATER CHALLENGE of at least 64oz.

THIS WEEKS CHALLENGE is a bit of a different one and requires a little time and sleuth work!

This week, when you hit the grocery store, and have a little extra time, I'd like you to take pen and paper (or Palm Pilot, if you have one, for ease) and as you go down the aisles, look for foods that you find that you can easily take with you for emergencys, to keep in the car, take easily on a road trip.

For instance:

LAUGHING COW REDUCED FAT CHEESE WEDGES - they need no refrigeration, soft to spread on crackers!
TUNA (various brands) in single-serve pop-top cans
MAYO - next time you're at McD's or another one of those FF places, ask for a packet or two extra of mayo, reduced fat if they have it, relish too - salt and pepper while you're asking/taking - great for mixing up that tuna!!!!
FRUIT - various brands, water/juice packed, pop-top cans

I think you get my drift. Please look around, post the brand name and the item. Take all this week to look around, whatever you can find and add, that would be great. Please e-mail me your findings at Debelli@AOL.COM by SUNDAY I will post the list on MONDAY for everyone.

I think this will not only be helpful for each of you to see what you can actually find in your own local stores that may help prevent you from eating foods off plan when you THINK there's no other alternative while out and about, or on a trip, but I think putting a list together would be great and keeping it on our FOOD RECOMMENDATION BOARD would be a good idea.

Any thoughts?

GOOD LUCK, and HAPPY HUNTING!!!!

Morning All:wave:

Kids are still asleep, ELI is getting ready for work, so I thought while I'm free to post, so I figured, why wait and find myself no having time and being far behind when I can post now and be caught up, for the time at least:D

TEENSY, hope you don't run yourself ragged today!!!

BEACH, glad you changed back to your old screen name, heck, it was driving me crazy thinking between the two names - you'll always be BEACHFAN to me! Thanks for thinking about my sanity, or at least what's left of it;) I've heard many people talk about going to Destin, so I also thought it was quite popular, guess a bit too popular. Hate when that happens and seems everyone and their mother seems to converge on a place that use to be fairly unknown. I'm sure wherever you go your have fun in the sun! Another day or two and those cravings will stop. Yes, it sucks that it's so hard to get the weight off and so easily to gain it back, and in record time it always seems. We'll get it right, don't you worry!!!!

I'm outta here. Going to try and go to yoga today. Still a bit on the pooped side but maybe getting back in the swing of things is just what I need.

Have a great week!

Monday Morning---

Hi! I just wanted to get on here and give a quick message to let you know that I have not fallen off the face of the earth. My life is way too hectic for me right now. Too much going on and not enough time to get it all done.

A report on my mom: she's doing much better. We were over there this weekend. She had a bad day on Saturday. Although she feels good (about her hip and all), she couldn't keep any food down. So that was a concern, because unlike her daughter she doesn't have a lot of reserve to live off of. This morning she called and said she was sitting at the kitchen table eating breakfast. How's that for a lesson to all of us to be thankful for our health. Thanks to all for your thoughts and prayers for her. Keep them coming. She has a long way to go.

I haven't been giving my eating enough thought and that always leads to bad behavior. I don't think I journaled one day last week. So this morning, I'm recommitting to writing down all my foods for the entire day. I will get through today and then move on to tomorrow.

Spent all day Friday and Saturday morning painting one of our bedrooms. Today I came to the sad realization that I HATE the color. Good thing I didn't put those painting supplies away. Ugh, my body is so sore from this project and I don't really want to start over. One good thing . . . I don't have to redo the ceiling.

Hope you all are well. BEACHFAN, glad to see you back! DEB, thanks for the Monday motivators. I like your idea about emergency foods. This will help keep us in control, and not fall victim to our circumstances.

Gotta run. Have a good week. I'll try to check in when I can.

Good Morning, ladies! Ooooh... Mondays <yawn> My kids had a hard time winding down last night from the weekend and they always pay a price. They usually go to sleep around 7:30 but last night they yapped and squealed in their cribs until 9:15. Lets say I had two grumpy babies on my hands at 6:30 this morning when I went to wake them up!

I tossed and turned last night thinking about the job interview I had two weeks ago. I still haven't heard anything and I'm fearing the worst. Of course I finally fell asleep at 12:30am and the alarm went off at 5:15! Now I'm so tired I could cry! I keep thinking good thoughts because I'm so ready to leave this job... and the money! Ooh! I could buy new clothes for my new hot bod! (Okay, give me a couple more months!)

I am still following Deb's challenge from last week - drinking myself to oblivion with water. I swear it is totally helping my dieting! I cheated a tad bit this weekend but the scales are still being kind to me so I'm sticking with the water!

Also, I did water aerobics last week and even though the instructor is cheesy and more like a kindergarten teacher than a motivational exercise fanatic, it is better than nothing. And in this heat, what better choice?

Re: this week's challenge. I keep a baggie of triscuits in the car as well as a can of blanched peanuts. I eat lunch around 12:00 and by the time I get in my car at 5:00 for my 75 mile drive home, I'm starving so keeping "legal" snacks in the car is very important to me. I'm interested in what everyone else has to say on this subject!

Have a good week, all!

Morning everyone! It is a gray overcast day and we will probably get lots of rain in the next few days as Bill moves north and east. I just knew that the year we don't need the rain will be the year a tropical storm (or two) will park itself over us for a good soaking!

I slept in this morning as I was up late finishing an op-ed piece for state newspapers. I have no idea yet if anyone is going to use it, but I'm sending it our to all the major papers in the state this morning. I have some published in the Mobile Register and the B-ham News on other occasions, so we'll see.

Ahmalawyer--I'll keep my fingers crossed for you on the job. I interviewed for a fcaulty position at a small college six weeks ago--they STILL have not officially told me what is going to happen. AARRGGHH! They take their own sweet time don't they?

BOB--The inspector general! :fr: You'd better get busy--better yet get Kate and and Skeeter working!!!:lol: I'll start looking for tickets. :D

Kim--Glad to hear that your DM is doing better! I hope her stomach is feeling better soon. Try not to get so busy that you can't take care of yourself--you know we are here for you!

Beach--I guess I was the only one that liked the name WarEagle! :cool: Hmmm, when did you say you were headed to the beach??? This doesn't look like the best week-maybe Bill will be gone by the weekend!

Deb--I like this week's challenge! Was was thinking of making some granola for snacking in the car next week!

Have a good day and a great OP week everyone!

Remember: we never get to do this week again--let's make it a good one!

Hey All:wave:

Well, I didn't go to yoga, I'm just not feeling 100% and though, I could of pushed myself, it's just not there, the desire. I'm still tired and not sleeping that great towards the end of my sleep isn't helping matters (ELI was tossing and turning since 5am'ish) and I still have some coughing and that feeling of phlegm just hanging on to my lungs for dear life. So, I took MICHAEL to ALEX'S house, who now, instead of living about 20 minutes away lives only 5. LAUREN is at theatre camp til 6pm, so I have the house all to myself today! Picked up some more movies at the library so may watch one of them today as I lounge and rest on the couch.

KIM, what's going on that things are so crazy? Glad to hear DM is doing better. I think the majority of us take our health for granted. At least with following this WOE we are working in the right direction;) What color is it that you hate? I'm afraid of color, that's why my house it painted off white all around. I'd love some color, but I'm afraid to even try, even though I could paint over it if I hated it.

BOB, why bother???? For people like that, it's never going to be clean enough! Don't kill yourself over it. Heck, you know how I feel about that, don't like it, don't come;)

LAW, I'm a firm believer, if it's meant to be, it's meant to be. For some reason, things always seem to turn out, and for the best. Like the house my kids friends parents were going to buy, deal fell through, they were so unhappy, BUT, they ended up finding another place, that they love so much more, so after the fact they were happy the other one fell through. Of course, I do wish you luck on getting it, but if you don't, something else, probably better will surely come along. Good job on the water, keep it up-wish I could say the same. 75 mile drive home - I could never do that on a daily basis - esp. here in Miami-it would take hours to get home!

FILLISE, hope you don't get a helluva lot of rain from Bill! Let's hope nothing else develops over the summer months:crossed:

JENN, why so down????:?:

I'm outta here - going to go watch the news and wait for my POT PIE to finish cooking!!!!

Good Monday Morning.

Hope everyone had a great weekend. Mine was busy.

Feeling under the weather today. Stomach is killing me. Was up all night with it. Eating was not as good as I wanted for the weekend but not terribly bad. Too many margaritas yesterday. The scale was the same today so hopefully didn't do too much damage. Unfortunately, I had to succumb to crackers today to help settle this stomach. Had to wear a dress b/c couldn't stand pants touching it. Wish I could have gone w/o the underwear too :fr: :fr: :fr:

My computer at home is broken, power supply most likely. So I won't get to be at achat or on during this weekend until I can get it fixed. Of course DD has a project due at school (taking a summer class). We have another CRT but it is so slow.

Deb, sorry I missed you again. We are hardly home on the weekends. Good MM today. Good idea on the grocery store challenge. But I probably won't be able to get to the store this week. But I will try to think of a few things that I already know of. Glad you are getting back to your Yoga. I think it will help you feel better.

Beachfan, Welcome back. I remember you from before. Glad to see you know where to come.

Kim, I was getting worried about you. Glad you stopped in for a minute. Glad to hear your DM is mending. Hope she is feeling better soon. Drop in when you can.

Bob, right now our trip to Sarasota is a no-go. Someone is using the condo the week we wanted. But... get this.. she is 7 months preg with twins, an invirto pregnancy, has already lost one baby, and one of the twins is getting enough nourishment. Plus they plan to drive there. How crazy is that. I wouldn't go anywhere that is 15 minutes away from MY hospital, much less drive in a car to Fla. I just can't see it happening. So we are still holding out and maybe her Dr will advise her not to go.

Lawyer, boy I bet you are dragging today. 75 mile drive. I sure wouldn't want to do that everyday. I don't see how you do that and with 2 little ones. Hopefully the other job is closer? Keeping my fingers crossed that you hear soon. Give them a call. Looks like you are interested.

Susan, just heard this morning that a tropical storm is headed your way. Stay dry.

Jenn, had one of those slumps last week. Hope you snap out of it soon.

Have a great day.

Jackie.

Getting back on track...at least I hope so. My daughter and I talked about it this morning. I had hoped to be a goal last year...not...had a set a June date for this year...again not. I'm afraid to set any more dates to reach goal but I truly would like to be at goal by Christmas. So I am going to do everything possible on my end to make it happen. If it doesn't it doesn't but it won't be for lack of trying. My exercise goal this week is 5 hours on the tread mill. I squeeked in 35 this morning. :) Walking outside will count also but I doubt I will make it out..it's sooo muggy this time of year. It's hard to believe I use to walk 6 to 7 days a week in it.

Kim!!! Sure is good to see you. Glad to hear your moma is doing better.

Deb....hang in there. It's probably a good thing you didn't do your yoga yet. Get well and the rest will follow.

Jack-K...sorry to hear your puter is on the fritz....Mine has been giving me fits this morning. I hope my played around with it enough that it's going to behave now.

((Jenn in MN)) I sure hope your spirits get better this afternoon. Sorry you are feeling down.

amhlawyer...wow that is a longggg drive. Do you have to make that everyday?

Susan, we aren't getting the rain but it's nice and cloudy. You would think it would keep the temps down but it's still pretty warm and toasty.

Howdy to everybody that hasn't popped in yet. You are in my thoughts and prayers.

Love,

Arcayne, here's a link to their website and they have the upc #'s at the bottom of the page. I'm going to see if MY Kroger will order some, too! Anything else I can look up and see if my store will order? I sure wish I could find a ww pizza crust somewhere (I'm too lazy to make it myself.) No Trader Joe's around here.

Gosh the board is slow today for a Monday.

Going home now. DH was brats on the grill for dinner, don't know if I can handle that or not. DD plays VB at 6:00 so it will have to be a quick dinner. Don't think I'll hang around the ball park tonight. Rather curl up on the couch. No exercise for me either tonight.

Country, I like your new resolve to get to goal. I need to adopt the same. I have fooled around with this and quite frankly, I'm tired of it. It is just so hard during the summer. Too much going on. I will try to follow your lead.

Lawyer, I wish I could find ww hamburger and hot dog buns. We have to go further south or way up north to get some. I just make my own ww pizza crust. Not too hard to do if you have a bread machine.

Deb, we were posting at the same time. I see you didn't go to Yoga. Hope you get rested soon.

Have a great evening.

Monday Night---

Hey all! Just finished dinner and am trying to keep up. I don't want to miss out on all your wisdoms this week!!! So far, I've journaled everything and am doing good today. Now the trick is to continue.

DEB---What's crazy is this . . . I have two college girlfriends coming in three weeks to spend the night and then we are all traveling to TN to meet up with 5 more of our good friends. That's not so bad. What's bad is that I just decided to overhaul that guest room and have the paint on the walls. The paint that needs to get covered up with something else. Then we have to rip up the carpet, clean the hardwood floors underneath, hang a door and decorate before they get here. I could be in major stressville if I thought about it. Also, next week the men are coming to start working on the outside of the house. We are having it painted, and that means powerwashing and priming and painting. More mess!!! I have one room empty and one room packed to the ceiling. It's pretty bad.

JACKK & COUNTRY---I knew you two would be sending out the national guard if I didn't get on here soon.

FILLISE---Your sleeping in today sure sounded good! That would have been my preferred way of being this morning.

BOB---So who's coming to visit? Anybody I know??? Hope it goes well. Don't break your neck cleaning and above all else, DO NOT start a painting project. You'll live to regret it.

Take care everybody else. Sorry I couldn't get to you all.

I did okay for the weekend as far as eating goes. I did have 2 small cheats though- some honey mustard dressing a a couple spoons full of mashed potatoes. The scale was actually at 189 this morning(new territory) BUT I went and blew it and have just ate, and ate all day long. All legal- but absolutely wayyyy too much food. I've been feeling down today too JENN- don't know what it is. Hopefully, tomorrow I will feel more like myself and have a little energy. I haven't even drank half of the amount of water I normally do- not good. Tomorrow, I promise I will do better with my eating and water, and now that I'm no longer sick- I have no excuses for not exercising.

Hmmm. I'll have to think about what is healthy to keep in the car. I've tried nuts, but I love them so much I go overboard. So I won't give you that suggestion. Hmmm.

Got my walk in this morning. 2.5 miles. Got started at 8 o'clock, which was too late, because it was hot and muggy before I finished. I work at the pg. clinic tomorrow, so probably won't get a walk in the morning. Ate OK today also: SB pancakes for breakfast, topped with some berries and 1/2 peach. Pizza for lunch :devil: and stir fried julienned zucchini topped with clam sauce, plus a salad for dinner. The other half peach for snack.

Monet-- Just wanted to ask if you are still losing just one pound a month. Doesn't it just drive you nuts? How can you stay faithful with such a slow loss. With the normal fluctuations up and down, how do you know if it is just a little more water retention or loss? I thought you were losing after your dr. had you on something in addition to the thyroid? I know that the 30 mg. Armour is not going to be enough for me because I am hot all the time now, and have a few other "symptoms." Monet, will you be coming through Orlando at all. I'd love to meet you. You have been such an encouragement for me, as I have often been tempted to throw in the towel because of the thyroid "induced" lack of weight loss.

Beach--Again, welcome back. I'm glad you went back to your old nickname. War eagle was gonna be pretty hard for me to type. :)

Fruit, Susan and all you other gals in Ala. and LA. Hope you stay high and dry.

:) Evening Everyone

Thanks to all that welcomed me back. That's why I loved this group...everyone is so nice.

I had a good eating day today...staying on track even when I eat out. Lunch was at a Chinese restraunt and I had shrimp and broccoli.

Bob...I'm with Deb. I do clean when company is coming but it's the same cleanning that I do for myself once a week. I try to pick up everyday so my weekend cleanning does not take too long. Take care and don't kill yourself over this. :D

Quilter...I'm journalling too. It's how I lost before and is my way of staying on track. It makes me accountable for what I do. Plus if I eat too much I have to write it down and look at it!

Jackk...glad you remember me. I really enjoyed this board and it keep me sane. At some point I will talk about the triggers that lead me down the weight gain path. Right now I am trying to focus on moving ahead.

Country...you'll make goal. I think your focusing on it will do the trick. This time around, I've set my goal a little higher and my REAL goal is to get to a healthy good weight and stay there for once in my life.

Fillise...I knew you would like WAREAGLE. Beach will just be easier! It's raining here too. All of us in Alabama will get a lot of rain we don't need. I remember when Deb had flooding in Miami and all of us in Alabama were in a drought. We definitely don't have a drought! We're about to float away.

Lawyer...good luck on the job. Hopefully you'll get it and be much happier. I've been in a job where I travel 3-4 days per week about 2-5 hours each day. Now I am much happier because I'm not traveling any more. The driving wears on you.

FRUIT! I missed you too. I didn't have any LSU fans to fight with! No I didn't see you float. I will have to go looking for it.

Oh for those who asked, I am going on vacation July 13th so I will miss the tropical storm.

Deb...I'm going to a beautiful beach that is off Fort Morgan road in Gulf Shores. It is great. The website is www.beachclubal.com

Well I have to go. This will be my 4th week to be on plan.

Heartmom and Gator...we were posting at the same time.

Heart...I was born with a hole in the lower chambers of my heart in the left ventricle. I was a blue baby and a blue child. Unfortunately back then there was not an operation to help. I was very very lucky and it did grow together when I was about 10...up until then as my mom would say it was pretty scary. I was on digitalis for years. I know everything will turn out ok you and your son. I can do almost anything physical now. I still go to a cardiologist but am fine.

GATOR...I missed you. Yes, I was being sneaky and tried to get you and Fruit to have to say WAREAGLE every time you posted. According to all the polls, Florida should be tiger meat.

Beach- sounds like what you described is a VSD. Glad that you didn't require surgery. Still today, some ASD's and VSD's don't require intervention. Guess it really depends on the size. But I do know several that have required open heart surgeries to fix. As for Boogie, he doesn't have a left ventricle, and he had to have 3 reconstructive open heart surgeries. So now, he only has a right ventricle that does all the work- so in other words, only half a heart. He isn't "fixed"- never will be. But we hope that he will have a long joyful life. Right now, the oldest survivor is only 22. But that's also because the surgeries weren't around prior to that. His heart condition is very life threatening. BUT- he's done incredibly well with it. I pray and hope he will be able to get married and have kids one day. As for physical endurance, he acts and plays like any other toddler- full of energy. He won't ever be able to do contact sports though or marathons, etc. But there's more to life than that.

Can you call a conscious decision to eat pizza a cheat? I wanted my favorite pizza and I ate it...I feel no guilt! It was sooo worth it! I figure I'm good 99% of the time it keeps me legal knowing I can eat stuff like this if I want. Well that's my backwards rationalization. Off to the gym tomorrow!

Hi everyone-remember me. I have been thinking of all of you a lot. I thought I would say hi. I'm still doing pretty good with the SB WOE although not great. My exercise has been good though. I've been busy like the rest of you--dad had surgery, moved DS home from college, looking for a job (no luck), painting bathroom, etc. I love Deb's challenge for this week--I will let you know if I find anything.

OH MY GAWD!!!!

My one morning at home and I can't get on the board!!!! What was the problem ....does anyone know???

I'm still in the midst of cleaning...getting ready to sweep, run the floor mate, dust and clean the kitchen...shouldn't take long, but my misery is bothering me today, so it won't be too much hard work for me today.

Got up with this HUGE TUMOR on my face....DANGIT...of course, I can't keep my fingers off of it...

Gotta go....

Finally!!!

Whew! Wondered what happened out in cyberspace that no one could access the site today. Thanks for all of those who replied to my e-mail about the site being down, at least I know I wasn't alone!

JACKK, hope you are feeling better today-are you?

ARC, pot pie UPC is 4848100901. Hope they can get it for you. As far as I know, there's only 6 in each case, which is how many I buy at a time. One will be eaten for din-din tonight:D

COUNTRY, I'm sure you'll be headed in the right direction, and don't worry if you hit a few bumps in the road or take a detour, you'll find your way back on track. I honestly thought I'd never cheat again in my life - WRONG - I have to find a way that will allow me to go off plan from time to time but yet, be able to get right back on and not blow a one-time event and make it a week long feast-fest-something I have yet to master YET!

LAW, hope you can find the pot pies as well:)

QUILTER, hope you get it all done before everyone arrives and you skiddadle off to TN, but if not, I'm sure life will go on. Sometimes we just put too much on our plates, food and otherwise;)

HEART, hope you're having a good day-I too haven't had enough water, bad to be in my company and hope you do better than I:)

GATOR, I'm sure you'll come up with some great "car food" ideas. Nuts are good, but like you, I'd over do it. Maybe putting them strategically out of hands way would help? Single serving portions?

BEACH, hope you have good weather when you go. I'll be going to Orlando that weekend with ELI. The 13th is actually the old farts birthday. I'm glad you're back, not only because I like you;) but because you too held a wealth of info when it came to SB. Even though you haven't been around in a while your experiences with SB, before AND after will help others by reading what you've been through. Of course, as you can see, I'm not the only one happy you are back!!!:spin:

CHERYL, I think you shouldn't think of that as cheating, but a plan to take a break for a little bit and then get right back on. I wish I could master that! Glad you enjoyed your pizza!

LIN, glad to see your post and looking forward to seeing you back with us a little more often:)

BOB, zititis? Like you need anything else, right! Not sure what happened with th board, no reply from SUZANNE, just glad it's up!

Gotta run go get MICHAEL and then head off to p/u the kids report cards, get LAUREN later and take them both to get their restricted drivers license:fr:

Will check in later!!!

OH MY GAWD!!!!

THANK GOODNESS THE BOARD IS UP!!
I've been trying to get on for MONTHS!

Things have been KRAY-ZEE around here.

Good news is the Princess has 4 of the 15 points she needs for her Championship. Going to be in Tampa on Thursday and Friday for a couple of more beauty pageants with her. Keep your fingers crossed.

I've been getting up at 5am or 4:30am every morning :yikes: and going to the gym to pump some heavy metal or walk/run with the squirt. Every morning she tries to convince me it is a cardio day. :s:

I haven't lost any weight, but I haven't gained any and things do appear to be getting firmer and moving around. Hopefully the fat will start falling off soon. :^:

I haven't read anything but I did see y'all were talking about portable food. I have an absolute favorite I've learned since trying the SB thang with BFL.

It's called Shannycakes (they sound gross, but they rock! Trust me!)

4 egg white
1/4 cup of FF Cottage Cheese
1/2 cup oatmeal
2-4 packets of splenda - I use 3
Dash of vanilla

Mix in the blender just enough to blend the ingredients (sometimes I blend and THEN stir the oatmeal in)

This makes a very thin batter. Fry in a non-stick sprayed frying pan like pancakes. When they start to bubble on top it's time to flip them.

They can be put in a baggie or rolled up like fruit rolls and wrapped in saran wrap to keep them moist. They are so good you don't need honey, syrup or antyhing like that added to them.

I added fresh blueberries this morning to mine. :D Yummy!!

I also add Maple and Butter flavoring.

Okay, I've really got to run! I'll try to get back on again soon. :cbg:

Well, I'm glad the board is up. I was starting to get withdrawls.

Feeling better today. Actually slept all night with no potty runs. That in itself is a miracle.

Bob, I'm gonna check out that website.

Heartmom, :bravo: for your weekend eating. Better than me. Congrats for getting in the 180's.

Kim, your friends are coming to see you, not your house. One night, they won't have time to notice all yhour hard work.

Cherylco, you only have to answer to you, so if you are ok with eating the pizza, great!

Linworth, so glad you dropped back in. Hope you can continue to be with us.

Deb, good luck to the kids on getting their restrictive licenses. Who gets to drive home?? Do they take a test for them. Yes, I feel much better today. The water feels like its hitting a deep cave, but going down slowly.

Have a good day.

All the floors are done...got out the FLOORMATE and I've decided to pack it back up (after it dries of coures) and take it back to BED BATH AND BEYOND....tell them I got it as a gift or something...I've still got the box, so I think I've got it all in hand.
It just doesn't do what I need it to...I use my CLOROX mop every day and it's the easiest thing I've done yet!

Next is the kitchen...not in bad shape, I just don't have much counter space and everything is piled up!

THEN THE BATHROOM!!!! We had a man come a put in a new "guts" and he wasn't very good at cleaning up after himself.
I though I got all the rust up, but found some when I was moping
behind the tank! :mad:

Afternoon all! Glad to see that the boards are back up--anyone know what happened?

We are officially waterlogged here--can't imaging how wet the LA girls are, cause we are soaked here! I just made a pot of green tea because despite the fact that it is the 1st of July, all this rain is leaving me chilled! We have to keep the air conditioner on because of the humidity, but I'm really cold!

JenninMN--Hope you are feeling better today!

Crystle--want some of our rain--I'll send it your way!

Jackie--hope you are feeling better too!

BOB--aren't you supposed to be cleaning????

Kim--Good luck with all your projects! It's so dreary here today that I may have to grab a little afternoon siesta.

Heart--189 is great!!! Do you get scared by new territory on the scale? I do (not that I've seen any new territiry for a while) but I do notice that when I break ground it scares me a little and I eat. Even legal.

Gator--It's wet wet wet here!

Beach--Are y'all getting as much rain as we are???? At 3:30 I heard my toilet gurguling--w asure sign that the sewerline in front of my house is at capacity! No flushee this morning either. It's a LOVELY day in Alabama!

Cherlyco--yes--but it's ok. As long as you don't use it as an excuse to go off track you'll be fine. Remember that this is a lifetime WOE, so we have to be able to stray once in a while.

Linworth--hey! welcome back. Hope you got it all done--well, most of it!

Solshine--Where ya been girlfriend????? Those little cake thingys sound great--may have to give them a try!

Ok I made a SB blueberry cobbler last night that was yummy:

Take three cups of fruit (blueberries, peaches, blackberries--whatever you like)
1/2 -1 cup sugar substitute (I just drizzled some agave--didn't measure)

Mix fruit and sweetner in a bowl and set aside.

Melt 1/2 cup butter or margerine in a deep baking dish.

Mix together in a bowl:

3/4cup WW flour
1/2 cup agave (or 3/4 cup Splenda)
1/24 cup milk (3/4 cup milk if you use Splenda)
2 tsp baking powder
pinch salt.

Pour batter into pan with melted butter

DO NOT STIR

Pour fruit on top of batter

DO NOT STIR

Bake at 275 for 1 hour (300 if using Splenda)

This is quite tasty and a good way to enjoy summer fruit!

Have a great afternoon everyone!

I told you guys! I blew it by eating way too much yesterday. That 189 was just a temporary occurence. Back to 190 this AM. But nothing is official until tomorrow, right?! I exercised for the first time in over a week- I still don't think my body has fully recovered from last week's strep throat. I only did the 2 mile WATP and I was drenched and very short of breath- I couldn't wait for it to end. Guess I'll have to work myself back up to the 3 mile. Have to get the kids outta the tub before my bathroom floor is flooded.

Hey ladies!

Boy the past few days have been stressful! :stress: We have been having all that wonderful tropical storm lately and its causing my computer to act up. I did however, get off early yesterday due to the storm and tried to log on at home, we have a laptop so it did not matter that the power was off, but the connection would not stick. Anyways, I hope I have not missed much and everyone had a good weekend. My eating has been good. I am down to 159 now, I think that is like .5 or 1 lbs not sure cannot remember. I have actually cut out all starchy carbs so hopefully this will work. I have installed the pop up blocker on my computer at work and it has in fact helped (a little). I am now trying to install some anti-spyware stuff, cause I heard that can be why I keep getting these nasty pop ups. My boss must have fooled around while I was at the doctor or Thursday, cause I have never seen these advertisements before. Its rather annoying and I do not wish to look at that stuff.

Anyways we have youth tonight, according to my dh we have about 16 kids there, compared to 130! So, I guess it will be slow night. (I could use the rest) Lost of people are still flooded and/or without power so that may be an issue. Well I hope to sign on later, see ya

Hi all! I'm so excited! I went to one of our health food stores and found ww pizza crust, ww hamburger buns, even Mozzarella cheese sticks that are breaded in whole wheat! I'm baking them right now to go with our hamburgers and our sweet potato fries! Yippee! I also bought some of the ww pastry flour so I can make my own pizza crust! YIPPEE!!

I had to go to the doctor today to get stitches removed (I had a biopsy of a mole last week.) Anyway, I had routine yearly blood work to check my cholesterol and everything and I was disappointed to learn that my cholesterol is still at 208 (the same number it was 2 years ago.) Also my bad cholesterol is 140 (double what it was 2 years ago) and my good cholesterol is just barely "good" at a mere 45. I think much of this is due to the 7 weeks I spent on Atkins. I've only been doing SB for about 3 weeks now. I've asked my doc to re-do the blood work in 3 months and he's game. I'm also kicking up the exercise (doc says the "bad" cholesterol is directly related to exercise... don't know if that's true or not.)

Well, I'm off to get dinner together. I hope all our southern friends stay dry!

Hi Everyone..just a quick note to say I'm still on track. Today was one of those days for me. I have not 1 but 2 cars in the shop! I'm waiting for the 3rd bad thing to happen since it always happens in 3's.

Heart: Yes, it was VSD...I had a rather large hole but was lucky I had good doctors back then...remember it was 41 years ago! Boogie is a lucky boy to have a mother like you! I have a 16 and 15 year old and teenage years are wild.

Fillise: We are very wet. I was freezing today too. My office had the air on full blast. I even had soup for lunch because I was so cold.

Deb: SB is slowly coming back to me. Someone earlier asked about pizza. I always made the decision to eat the topping and not the crust. Pizza crust is not only high on the glycemic index but stays in your system longer than other carbohydrates keeping your blood sugar elevated.

I'm sad today because I went up on the scale. Don't you had fluctuations!

Hope everyone has a good day tomorrow.

Hello everyone!

Glad to see the board is back up. Isn't it weird how we all seem to want on at the same time when it's unavailable. The emails made me laugh today. SONYA . . . where are you darlin'?

BOB: Yes, I would rather paint than clean. If you saw my house you would know that too. Good luck. Just do as much as you can and forget the rest. The visit will be great. And I still say having somebody else cook could have its pleasant points. Does she also clean up after she cooks or will that be your job? I hope you get out of that chore too. See, you strained to hard with your cleaning and popped out a zit. NO PICKING!!!

BEACH: I'm with you on the journaling, sister! It really helps me keep track of what's going on. If I don't, believe me, I "forget" all that I eat. Actually, I think "denial" is a better word for what happens. Good luck to you! We are about at the same weight (for me 183.6) so we can really encourage each other along.

GATOR: Glad to see you're back with us. Where did you go? Were you on a fun trip? How's the french classes going?

LIN: Sounds like your life is really chugging along. Too much to do with too little time, right? Hang in there! What color did you paint your bathroom?

DEB: You are so right about putting too much on our plates. I do it all the time. If I don't have the room done, at least it will have some clean, pretty paint on the walls. Hey it could be way worse.

SOLBABY: Glad to see your post. That's some kind of recipe you shared with us. Does it have to be FF cottage cheese. I only like the lowfat kind. What kind of oats are you using? Are they cooked before hand or are they raw when you mix them?

JACKK: Glad to hear you are feeling better. The icks are no fun at all. Thanks for your thoughts about my anxieties about getting ready for my guests. You are so right. These are some of my oldest and dearest friends. I don't want to stress myself out before we get to our time together. It will all work out. I am happy that our house will have the paint job done or nearly done by the time they get here.

FILLISE: You are waterlogged and our ground is cracking. The strange thing is we were waterlogged for weeks and all of a sudden a few hot days and it's absolutely all gone. Although I think it has rained tonight because I hear cars swishing by outside. Hey, are you teasing me with all your tales of sleeping in and afternoon siestas??? You trickster! Miss Belle probably loves those naps as much as you do!!! Enjoy your down time. Are you sure you don't want to come up here and help me with my projects?

Is anybody watching Wimbledon? I love it! Those players are all in perfect shape. I want those kinds of thighs. But perhaps mine are too old to start with. Ha!!!

Take care.

Hi all. I'll try to get on for chat tonight. I was so busy today that my sweetie took me out for dinner. Of course, I didn't get home until almost 6, and the grocery store was out of 3 of the items I wanted: eggplant, "ugly" tomatoes, and 60 watt tubular light bulbs. Ugh. I hate to shop, and when I have to go back later for what they don't have today, I hate it even more.

Beach--I'm really glad to see you back, but sorry you are back to lose weight. Next time, you be back to give us all encouragement and to tell us how great you are maintaining. I look forward to hearing what you learned so I can apply it when I get down to my goal. That will not happen until I get my thyroid under control, but I am seeing a doctor about it and hope that within 6 months I'll see some results from being "good."
Yes, I think the Gators will not only be Tiger meat, but dog meat, and lots of other kinda meat. Unfortunately, our coach doesn't have a history of great coaching, and we all got spoiled with SOS. Oh well, we'll have a nice tailgate party on game weekends and get our fun out of that.

Fillise--Is that the kind of cobbler where the fruit and batter "reverse" and the batter rises to the top during the cooking? Sounds good

I actually got my walking in today, miracle of miracles. Got up before 7 and walked 50 minutes with my DH. Had a good breakfast, lunch and dinner. Dinner: salad and a 4oz. filet of beef with a little sauce on it. Good.

Hey it's my 1 year anniversary for SB! I'm still so thrilled I found something that's healthy and workable for my life!! I lost 32 pounds and 10 sizes! I was a size 24 and now I'm a 14. My friends and family are sick and tired of me spouting the Glycemic Index of foods, and I think my (somewhat ex-best friend) is bent because I lost so much and she's gained so much but I'm not going to stop. And yes I went to the gym to walk off that delicious pizza. Pizza is my downfall. But I can eat it and be satisfied and get right back on track. Both my kids still do SB and they have both lost weight and feel great.:dancer:

Wednesday Morning---

Okay, I just went over to the exercise board to post my first day's TM session which I will admit was today. And I was shocked to see only 3 other posts on there. What's happening? Where are all those movers and shakers from a few weeks ago. Boy oh boy, I sure would like to see some more reports on there as to how you all are shaking off those pounds.

ZANNE---So glad we got to chat last night. You are amazing, so talented!!! Just in case you all didn't know it, Z is our Ms. Fixit. She knows so muchabout redoing houses. Anyways, thanks for the chat. It was fun.

CHERYL---Congrats on the anniversary. You have something to really be proud of there. I envy you for being in a size 14. I can't wait to see that day come. Keep up the good work. Some of the people we are closest with will try to sabatoge our efforts and we just can't let them. Sounds like you know that you are in control of what goes on with your body. Keep up that viewpoint and you'll reach your goal with a smile on your face.

Happy hump day everybody.

Hi Everyone---Just wondering:

Anybody know anything about "Amy's" organic chicken pot pies? I found them at Randalls and it is made w/WW flour?

On the website for the other popular chicken pot pies, do you get the ones w/2 sugar gs. or 3 sugar gs.?

I am down to 113 today after starting SB on 6/9/03 starting at 119.1 lbs. I found I weigh more in the am than in the afternoon.

I work out in my pool and am pretty busy, don't drink enough water, but I LOVE THIS WOE!!!!!!

Thinking I have finally found the answer after menopause (it has only taken about 5 yrs. to see what works w/o taking diet pills or some crazy diet). Have a great day!! Hubby and I are off to put on braces!!

Hi Gang

Here I am with one of my erratic posts. I've been trying to keep up with reading the board, but I find it difficult to keep up with so many of you. I actually went to chat last night--I've only been there about 3 times since joining this board a couple years ago!

Yesterday was our holiday and a lot of people took Monday off as well. I nearly forgot it was WIW. Wish I had. I am at the same spot I was 2 years ago @ 173. In Jan 2002 I had got down to 164. Too bad I didn't keep working hard so I could have at least stayed there:(

Oh well, I know that at least I'm eating a lot better/healthier. Just too much starchy stuff and a few binges with the chips. I know my weak spots and I just have to work on them.

I keep falling off the exercise wagon, but also keep jumping back on. I hurt my knee last week while exercising, but I think it's better and I just take it easy on moves I think may jar it again. I've got 2 days of workouts in this week so far:D

QUILTER--I had fun chatting with you! I've always loved working with my hands and with tools. I love watching renovation shows. And since DH has been involved with building several houses from scratch and has much knowledge, I've also learned from watching him. In hindsight, I should have gone into a trade, but it was probably really tough for a woman to do 20 years ago (probably still tough now). You'll have to let me know what you decide about the door!

BEACH--Love your avitar! ;) :cool: You've got good taste. Nice to meet you. DEB has talked about you and how you ate bananas. I have the odd banana, but can only eat them when they are still a bit green. I"m sure you'll be able to lose what you want with the help of this great board.

Ok, gotta run to the store. I'll keep popping in once in a while. When I am doing my workouts, I've been pretty good at posting on the exercise board, so you might see me more there than here.

Have a good day all!

Solshine--I have a recipe very similar to that one, and I use it to make SB pancakes in the morning. It makes about 6 dollar+ sized pancakes, and I usually cut up berries to put on top. 1/4 C non-fat cottage cheese, 1 egg, 3 T dry oatmeal, salt and agave to taste. Blend in a mini-processor for 5-10 seconds. Cook like pancakes. Easy and low GI.

Quilter--Yes, I was gone. We went to France for the month of May. I will be taking intermediate French at UCF here in Orlando beginning the end of August until mid December.

Porche--Are you getting braces on your teeth???

Gonna work in the butterfly garden today. While we were gone in May the zinnias grew like weeds and were mildewed by the time we got home. They look terrible now, so I?m gonna rip them out and reseed. Also have some other native wildflowers that grew a lot bigger than I thought they would, so am gonna get rid of most of them and move the others. I have some gold rim swallowtail caterpillars growing in a bowl in my kitchen. I pick leaves they like to eat and they are getting fatter and fatter. Pretty soon I'll have new butterflies.

Did my 3 miles this morning. Didn't hit the street until 8 but it is overcast and a little cooler today, so not too bad. Had 2 eggs, 2 strips of crisp bacon and 1 peach for breakfast. I was in the mood for something sweet and juicy, so the peach was good. I guess that will be my carb for the day, except for veggies.

Happy WIW. Hope the scale is good to everyone today. It was the same for me. I'll take it and be satisfied. Good news on my computer. SOmeone turned off the power switch on the back. Don't know how that happened, but glad that is all it was. Started out on my walk late last night and got a block into it and ran into some friends thats were on their way to our house so we turned around. Guess I will try to make it up tonight.

Bob, you are going to be worn out by the time your company gets there. Hope it meets with their approval. No news on the trip. Did you see my post onthe preggo lady?

Susan, need a boat yet? Thanks for the recipe. I have some peaches that just are great for eating so I will make a peach cobbler. Thanks

Heartmom, if you saw it once, it will come back. Hold on.

Tonya, I hope you are safe from all that flooding. I saw some people on TV last night and it is not a pretty site.

Lawyer, glad you found all that whole wheat products. How does the pizza crust come? Already baked? Or do you mix it with water? Be careful, those buns, sp fries and cheese sticks all counts as starches.

Beach, Hope you are dry and safe also. That looks like a mess down there.

Cherylco, Congrats on your 1 yr anniversary. That is a big accomplishment along with the 32 pounds. With your great attitude you will definately hit that goal. What a big difference in the sizes. How exciting.

Kim, I'm guilty on the exercise board. Seems like summer time is hard to get it all in. I started out last night and one block into it ran into a friend who was on their way to our house so we turned around. Sorry I missed you all at chat. My puter is broke.

Lady, 6 lbs is great. Glad you have found something that works for you. I only can find the Shelton pot pies. But if they are made with ww flour, I would think they are ok.

Zanne, glad you popped in. Sounds like you have been busy. Those chips can be a big downfall. Try to avoid them it you can. Hope your knee is better soon.

Got to run to a couple meetings. Have alot to do today. Trying to take off tomorrow for a longer weekend. Hope I get to.

Be back later hopefully.

Still up at 152 Been here about 3 or 4 weeks. Working toward getting back down to my low and goal.

WTG Jack-K...so glad your computer is fixed.

Zanne....hang in there. You'll get those pounds back off. I know how you feel. This last winter I went up and had to relose the pounds...ugh.

Hey Kim! Fixing to go visit ya on the exercise board...so far so good this week. I wan't sure if after mowing for 2 hours if I was gonna get this old bod to walk but God came through. A friend went with and we were able to get outside. There is something so cool about being able to walk and talk vs the treadmill. But not raggin' the treadmill...fixing to do that in a minute. Hope you are having a super day.

Adrienne--WTG on finding the WW stuff! I saw a story on Kraft's "conversion" to healthy foods (healthy Oreo's--yeah right), anyway they had a picture of a box of WW Ritz crakers. Anyone seen these in the store? Are they real WW?

BOB--Get some rest--sounds like you deserve it after a long day's work scrubbing! The cobbler is good! I had some for breakfast this am!

Beach--the sun came out here about 5 o'clock last night! Yipee! I do notice that they are calling for scattered T-storms every day this week. Do you ever get over to Auburn for any games???

Kim--Ha! I never got that siesta yesterday--but Belle goes down for nap at 11:00 every morning like clockwork--and she stays asleep until 5 or 6 in the afternoon! That's the life! She always gets a real playful spurt just when I'm trying to go to sleep at night.

Gator--that's exactly the type of cobbler this is! It's yummy--when I get my hands on some good peaches---YUM!

Cherlyco--Congratulations on your year of SB success!!!!! What do you think you've learned over the last year?

ladyporche--um, can you share that answer to menopause--some of us are just getting revved up in that process!

Susanne--Hope you had a good holiday--we are gearing up for ours on Friday! I'm going to a cookout and will be making a SB legal blueberry and strawberry cheesecake to celebrate!

Gator--have fun with the butterfly garden--my flowers are taking over my back yard. I'm actually going to have to thin them out this year!

Jackie--enjoy the cobbler! When I go to NC next week I'm stopping at the first roadside stand I see in SC for some good SC peaches!

I'm not going near the scale today--no way! I've been out of my diruetic (HBP) for a week now and just got the prescription refilled yesterday. I'm giving all the water at least a week to get out of my system!

Have a great day everyone--I hope WIW is good to you all!

Morning All:wave:

ELI is on an hour confrence call from work and then off the rest of the day. Not sure what's going to be today, not sure if we'll go up to BROWARD today or not. When I woke up this morning I got the wonderful news that his SB's was robbed around midnight last night, by gun point - lovely!:fr: I always fear this and knew it was just a matter of time. Thankfully, no one was hurt, though he did say a shot was fired. He may have to go in later to the store to do an incident report and follow up with his employees. Unfortunately, they didn't catch the guy though they do seem to have picked up a shirt he was wearing and a dollar bill he may have dropped. Seems they also robbed another place shortly afterwards and a porno place the night before. ELI can be more careful at work and I'm hoping this puts a fire under his but to do so.

I have to admit, I haven't done the poll this week, I can't figure out which one to choose, but I'm sad to say I'm leaning to EATING EVERYTHING! Though the sex, what a way to go out!!!!:lol:

More car trouble, not only did my brake lights come on, but now the ABS light as well. Took the car in this morning and he's going to see what's going on with it. Need to get these issues resolved before I take the kids on this road trip. I think I'm going to go in July instead of August, take them to Maryland, day trip to see NYU and possibly stop at my parents place in NC on the way home, though not sure about it, have to think a bit more about that part of it.

Poop, DM just called, she's a few minutes away. Thought I'd be able to get in some replies before we head out. Not sure how long she'll stay, so either I'll p/u where I left off when she leaves or will have to do so at a much later time.

Hope all have a good WIW - almost forgot what day it was!!!!

Okay ladies! This boggles my mind. I am back up to 160 this morning. I have done everything I was supposed, cut out all starchy carbs, did water, etc. and still nothing! I think I need something a little more structured. I mean when I was on WW I lost way fast than this pace and that was will no exercise. I have no idea what to do??? I think it silly for me to join WW right before getting pregnant, you know with all the expense, etc. but then I think, what if I don't get pregnant this month, I would be wasting a good month of dieting. Decisions, decisions! When I tell you I have not cheated once, not once!!!! I have passed up some many good things, I kinda wonder what's the point here.

Okay I have vented enough! I finally got my computer acting okay, well enough to post and do my work. So I have a long tape ahead of me, I guess I shall get started before bossman comes in...

Good bye Ladies, perhaps I will peek in later

Hi everyone,

I wish I could say I was OP, but the only thing I've been able to keep in my tummy today is ginger snaps (to help with the nausea) and fruit. Ugh.

My secret is pretty much out at work - a coworker caught me napping on the ladies' room couch at lunchtime the other day, and put 2 + 2 together. So they're just waiting for me to confirm. They still have to wait until August, after my 12-week checkup. :p :lol:

That's about it for now. It's supposed to be 95 here today. Deb, I don't know how you can stand it!

Jenn

Hi to all,
I could really use you help and or support. I have been and sugar busters two weeks now and the scale has not budged. I am trying not to get discouraged. I feel that I have been doing the plan correctly. I have been eating Uncle Sams for breakfast (1cup)
!% milk and a sandwich for lunch with either ham, roastbeef or turkey with cheese. Dinner mostly chicken and veggies I have not cheated with sugar but, I have been having sugar free ice cream portion controlled aboout one scoop just to take the curse off for sweets. I have been eating triscuits with cheese for a snack if I am really dying for something. PLease tell me has anyone had this problem in the begiing or am I doing something wrong. thanks, Lisa:?: :?:

Woo Hoo! I am down to a new all time low with a three pound loss from last week. I tend to drop a few, stall, drop a few, stall.. I was pleased to see progress after a long stall.

The new garage doors were installed yesterday, and work great!

Work has been fun, but tiring. I think I am too old for this kind of stuff. Getting up at five is the pits! I get home sore and tired, and tend to veg out all afternoon.

We leave Saturday for our vacation. We are heading to my MIL's , then to Cocoa Beach, Florida, where Tom and Laura are going to take surfing lessons. From there, I am not sure where we are going. We talked about going down to Fort Myers or Marco Island, but have not made any concrete plans yet.

GATOR: We won't be far from Orlando. I would love to meet you too, even if you are a Gator fan...:) PM me your phone number, and I will call you once I know our itinerary. OK? We will be in Cocoa Beach July 7-9, and maybe later if they like surfing....so probably after that.

BOB: If we get over to the west coast of Florida, do you want to try and get together? We are planning on being in Cocoa Beach the 7th to the 9th.

I have got to go....I have a ton of things to get done, but will try and get on later for more personalized posting...

Yah computers are so much fun! I've learned to check all the obvious stuff first, power, connections, keyboard, all that before going nuts. Glad your problem was such an easy cheap fix!

Kim
It's harder to cram in that exercise with the kids off from school.
Plus our pool is open so I'm getting in there and moving about.
The only thing getting me to the gym right now is the fact I paid for a trainer 2 times a week!! I need help with stuff because my left hand is still not great from strokes 4 years ago.

Fillise
That's an interesting question you asked about what have I learned the past year on SB. The first thing that comes to mind is:
Everyone thinks their WOE is the best! (IE: SB, Atkins, Somersizing) and you should read as many books as possible pertaining to your plan because there is a lot of good info out there and a lot of bad. Being well read allows you to make better decisions.

Not all people are happy for your success and will try to sabotage you if they can!

A good support group makes a big difference in how well you do!!

It is possible to lose weight without suffering!!!

Hi all! I'm down 1.5 lbs this WIW! Still on track and happy as a clam! I exercised yesterday and plan to tomorrow, too. Hopefully I can keep riding this wave.

Jack - I'm so glad I found some "alternative" stuff. The pizza crust is pre-made and pre-baked (kind of like a Boboli!) How great is that? Also, I don't personally like sweet potatoes - those were for hubby. But I can feed them to my kids as a mixture with the regular fries to help their diets be more SB-friendly! Last night I had 1 hamburger (95% lean beef with some Thai spices mixed in) with one bun and three cheese sticks (not happy with those - the cheese leaked out all over the pan and they were pretty much worthless) and a big salad. ALL my starches are completely, 100% sugar-free as is most everything else I eat. I'm really getting the good fiber stuff.

Monet- CONGRATULATIONS!!! Yipeee ki-ya!

Filisse, I've seen the ww crackers but I didn't read the nutritional info. I guess I assumed they weren't legal in one way or another. Don't even get me started on the Kraft thing... and no lawyer jokes! haha

LadyPorche - CONGRATULATIONS! Stick with it!

Cheryl - happy anniversary

A history lesson.... Here are some facts about the 1500s:

Most people got married in June because they took their yearly bath in May > and still smelled petty good by June. However, they were starting to smell so brides carried a boquet of flowers to hide the body odor. Hence the custom today of carrying a boquet when getting married.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ ~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Baths consisted of a big tub filled with hot water. The man of the house had the privilege of the nice clean water, then all the other sons and men, then the women and finally the children - last of all, the babies. By then the water was so dirty you could actually lose someone in it. Hence the saying, "Don't throw the baby out with the bath water."
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Houses had thatched roofs, thick straw, pilled high, with no wood
underneath. It was the only place for animals to get warm, so all the dogs, cats, and other small animals (mice, bugs) lived in the roof. When it rained it became slippery, and sometimes the animals would slip and fall off the roof. Hence the saying "It's raining cats and dogs."
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ ~~~~~~~~~~~~~
There was nothing to stop things from falling into the house. This poased a real problem in the bedroom where bugs and other droppings could really mess up your nice clean bed. Hence, a bed with big posts and a sheet hung over the top, afforded some protection. That's how canopy beds came into existance.
> ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ ~~~~~~~~~~~~~
The floor was dirt. Only the wealthy had something other than dirt. Hence the saying "dirt poor."
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ ~~~~~~~~~~~~~
The wealthy had slate floors that would get slippery in the winter, when wet, so they spread thresh (straw) on the floor to help keep their footing. As the winter wore on, they kept adding more thresh, until when you opened the door, it would all start slipping outside. A piece of wood was place in the entranceway, Hence the saying a "thresh hold."
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ ~~~~~~~~~~~~~
In those old days, they cooked in the kitchen with a big kettle that always hung over the fire. Every day they lit the fire and added things to the pot. They ate mostly vegetable and did not get much meat. They would eat the stew for dinner, leaing leftovers in the pot to get cold overnight and then start over the next day. Sometimes the stew had food in it that had been ther for quiet a while. Hence the rhyme, "Peas porridge hot, peas
porridge cold, peas porridge in the pot nine days old."
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ ~~~~~~~~~~~~
Sometimes they could obtain pork, which made them feel quiet special. When visitors came over, they would hang up their bacon to show off. It was a sign of wealth that a man "could bring home the bacon." They would cut off a little to share with guests and would all sit around and "chew the fat."
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ ~~~~~~~~~~~~
Those with money had plates of pewter. Food with high acid content caused some of the lead to leach into the food, causing lead poisoning and death. This happened most often with tomatoes, so for the next 400 years or so, tomatoes were considered poisonous.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ ~~~~~~~~~~~~
Bread was divided accodring to status. Workers got the burnt bottom of the loaf, the family got the middle, and guests got the top, or "upper crust."
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ ~~~~~~~~~~~~
> Lead cups were used to drink ale or whisky. The combination would
sometimes
> knock them out for a couple of days. Someone walking along the road would
> take them for dead and prepare them for burial. They were laid out on the
> kitchen table for a couple of days and the family would gather around and
> eat and drink and wait and see if they would wake up. Hence the custom of
> holding a "wake."
> ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ ~~~~~~~~~~~~
> England is old and small and the local folks started running out of places
> to bury people. So they would dig up coffins and would take the bones to
a
> "bone house" and reuse the grave. When reopening these coffins, 1 out of
25
> coffins were found to have scratch marks on the inside and they realized
> they had been burying people alive. So they thought they would tie a
string
> on the wrist of the corpse, lead it through the coffin and up through the
> gound and tie it to a bell. Someone would have to sit out in the
graveyard
> all night (the graveyard shift) to listen for the bell: Thus, someone
could
> be "saved by the bell" or eas considered a "dead ringer."
> ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ ~~~~~~~~~~~~~
> And that's the truth.... Now, whoever said that history was boring????
I worked for 3 hours in the bf garden and it looks pretty good. Got rid of some big -- 6 ft tall-- plants that didn't do much for the esthetics of the garden. We have a little bit left for this weekend when DH is home.
Hi Everyone
I'm smiling today because the sun is finally shinning! We were soaked for days. Birmingham has had terrible flooding from all the rain we are getting. My hubby is originally from California and hates the rain. He said if this keeps up we'll have to move. What scares me is I think he is kind of serious!
Fillise...we do try to come to the football games but this year they are already sold out. Last Basketball season we were in Auburn several times for games. I also, have an office in Opelika that I am responsible for and go there about 2 times a year. Maybe we can meet sometime. Your peach cobbler sounds wonderful. While I am so new back to being good, I'm going to pass for right now. I would eat the whole thing!
Monet...I am like you...I lose a few pounds then plateau for about 3 weeks then lose somemore. Eventually it all comes off. Congrats on losing this week.
Tonya...instead of joing WW you could journal your food on www.fitday.com and try to eat SB but keep the calories down. That is how I lost the 1st 90 pounds! Right now I am combining WW with SB mainly for the additional discipline since I lost so much and then gained a lot back.
Gator..sounds like you are still getting all your walks in. Way to go.
Lisa and Wanttheold me...be patient and pay attention to the portions. The weight will come off I promise.
BOB...realax this weekend and have a good 4th!
Deb...not sure if you saw my post about having 2 cars in the shop this week. We both must be jinxed. I have one back today and they still have the other one.
Well I'm down 2 pounds and that made me feel good. I'm almost back into the 170s. Today I was 180:cool:
And because there was sunshine:cool: :cool: :cool: I was able to walk!
Gatorgal!!
I love butterfly gardens--my daughter (a second grade teacher) and I call them "flutter-by" gardens. Lantana and the infamous butterfly bush (buddalia?) just thrive in my garden. My husband put in a butterfly house and we have the most beautiful monarchs. What a joy this garden is!!!
You and I have a lot in common--right now I could eat a huge bowl of white rice, butter and SUGAR!!!!! My daddy would fix this every a.m. for me and my sisters for breakfast each a.m. with a yummy piece of white toast w/lots of butter. The rice would be swimming in this sugary butter liquid. I dream about this kind of stuff lately!!
My husband is an orthodontist and I work in the office. I sell the cases and he does the most beautiful orthodontics this side of the Mississippi. That's how we met. My children were in braces in West Texas and their orthodontist in Midland referred me to my husband-to-be in Houston. Small world!! What a lucky referral for me!!!
Does anyone know what the sugar alcohol means? I will resort to the book if necessary but it's so much fun to see if anyone answers my questions.
The menopause thing: Went through peri menopause early, didn't even know what was going on--read every book on the subject, took hormone replacement therapy for about 6 yrs and just recently went off cold turkey after all the media coverage--am doing great with no side effects, no weight gain thanks to SB and am mentally aok!! I'll answer any questions anyone throws to me because believe me, I've been there, done that, and know of what I speak!!
Law: What specialty do you practice? Our baby is just finishing a year with a federal judge (Judge Kent) in Galveston and is then going on to Susmann/Godfrey--corporate litigators (big in the Enron scandal) This was so sad to witness. Before we moved to our lakehouse full time, we had a unit in the Huntingdon where Ken Lay lives. World wide press, armed guards, gates locked, the whole nine yards were everyday life there. We had to get out. We were afraid we'd be shot!!!
Okay, let me get WIW out of the way. I think I'm at 189.5. It wasn't quite all the way on the 190 or the 189. Anyway, I didn't exercise today but I did yard work and sweated buckets. I found a 72% cocoa chocolate bar at Big Lots for 99 cents. Only bought one since I have a tendency to go overboard. CHERYLCO- Congrats! I was wondering how you lost so many sizes with 32 pounds? You must be shorter than me? WHen I was 270, I was a size 24. Now I weigh 189.5 and wear a 16- that's over 80 pounds and still not a 14. Anyway, I know what you mean about your so called best friend. I WAS good friends with someone until about 2 months ago when she stopped calling, coming by, etc.. Seems like it happened when I got noticably smaller than her. I used to always be the bigger one, now I'm smaller, and I think she's jealous. If she was a true friend then she would be happy for me and realize I'm still the same person although I appear different on the outside. Alright, what's everyone got planned for the 4th? We're going out to the reservoir with some friends to ride the jet ski's and barbecue, etc.. I got nominated for making potato salad and baked beans. My girlfriend doesn't cook too often or too well,lol. So I'm not going to be legal. But I make this promise--I will be back on track come Saturday. I won't make this the green light to splurge all weekend!! Gotta go!
Good Thursday Morning Everyone:wave:
Couldn't get near the computer at all yesterday. LAUREN is searching Ebay for a new cell phone and MICHAEL had his friend over that he's doing work on a film she's doing that he's helping with, so once LAUREN was off, he got on and was on when I went to bed, so there is no hope. Can only post a little before I have to take LAUREN to camp, so will do my best with the little time I have at the moment.
Didn't do anything exciting yesterday and felt that going up to Broward was a waste as we didn't get up there til late and had to get back quickly, only having time to stop and take back a shirt at the Gap Outlet at the mall. ELI is suppose to be off today, but not sure if he will.
Picked up my car, to the tune of $270 AND I have to take it back today. Heard a high pitched sound that wasn't there when I took it in, there's a rubber gasket type of thing that sprung a hole, so it's air whistling through it. AND, I have to take the car to the dealer because my car is the only one that isn't on my mechanics diagnostic computer, so he can't tell me what's going on with the ABS light coming on-I swear, it's always something!!!!:mad:
Don't have time at the moment for individual posts, but did want to respond to
LISA
LISA. http://members.aol.com/eldemila/sb_sign4.jpg Help and support, you've come to the right place, we'll even through in some friendship for free!;) Glad you haven't gotten discouraged not seeing the scale drop. There can be many reasons you don't see the scale dropping and probably a small adjustment is all you'll need. From what you post, are you sure you are eating enough? If you don't eat enough it's just as bad as eating too much. Are you drinking enough water? Do you know if certain times of the month you are bloated and tend to gain, and this may be part of it? Are you eating too many starchy carbs? A cup of Uncle Sams may be 2 servings, not sure as I don't eat it, but 1 ounce, a 1/2 cup of Fiber One is considered a serving. I would ditch the ice cream, for now, you're still having cravings because you haven't allowed yourself to GET THE SUGAR OUT. Keep asking questions, it's the way you learn about this WOE, from those who've been living it:) Again, WELCOME!
Okay, I do have to run and get LAUREN up and ready to go. If I have time when I return to post some more I will-depends on the BIG BOY and what his plans are for the day. Right now, he's sleeping like a baby?????
Porche--Wow, I wish we lived closer. We could "scope out" each other's gardens. It started raining cats and dogs (ahem, BOB) when I was working out there yesterday, but I was sweating so much, I could hardly tell the difference. I ripped out some ironweed that was just too big, over 5 feet tall and totally usurping too much space. My biggest problem is that the wasps and ants eat the butterfly eggs or the caterpillars. I see a big eastern black swallowtail caterpillar on the parsley or some monarch cats on the milkweek, and the next day they are gone. There are a ton of lizards out there, along with the wasps, and they also like the caterpillars for a tasty snack. I've actually seen a wasp flying away with a caterpillar in its mandibles. Ugh. So, I occasionally raise them inside. I'm looking for one of those reptariums, a net-like aquarium for snakes that would be great for raising butterflies. My buddleia is about 5.5 feet tall and very droopy. I feel like I need to stake it up with a pole and rope to make it more tree-like, rather than a droopy bush. My husband prefers to mess with his roses.
Congrats to all who lost. I didn't even weigh. It's better that way because then I don't get so discouraged. I can't wait till my thyroid meds get all taken care of and I'm up to par in that area.
BOB--The lesson in that God made you unique, and if people judge you by the way your house looks rather than who you are, they are off base. Be yourself and let them lump it next time.
I got in my walk today, thank goodness. I was sorely tempted to sleep in and take a little vacation from the streets. But I hit the pavement and got in 2.5 miles. Then I fixed myself a good breakfast: SB pancakes, like the ones I talked about above, topped with sliced berries. Also one scrambled egg. Lots of protein, because I added an extra egg white in the pancake batter. It was good!!
Porche--That white rice with sugar sounds pretty good. That really IS comfort food for you with that history of your dad fixing it. I'm over my craving now, and will be fixing Deb's crustless cheesecake for dessert for tomorrow.
We are going over to my half-sister's where we will visit and eat. Pulled pork, corn on the cob, sliced tomatoes, etc. I am taking a roasted red pepper tart and 2 cheesecakes (both the same recipe-Deb's) and sliced berries to serve with the cheesecake. If the corn is not sweet enough, I will be able to forego having any.!! :^:
Well, I've got chores and shopping. Gotta get the stuff for the cheesecakes and bake'em today.
There are a couple things that might be stalling weight loss.
Are you less then 20 pounds overweight. Are you switching from another diet plan? Have you dieted a LOT causing your body to go into starvation mode so it's got to horde fat?
Try switching to 4 or 5 small meals a day instead of 3 big ones.
It took me about 3 weeks to see any weight loss, then it started melting off!
Monet
Wahoo!! that's so nice to get off that stall!
BOB tanks for the history lesson!
Have you tried the white basmati rice? It's legal (the brown is better GI wise), and it tastes just like regular white rice.
heartmom
Yeah I'm short, 5'1 if I stand up real straight!
My "friend" has been by best friend since we were 13 years old. We got married, had kids, our DH's are buds we hung out all the time. The always had more money then us, and she was always a little thinner then me. We used to exercise and diet together. After I'd done SB for 4 months I convinced her to try it. I went shopping for her, brought meals to her, did all I could to get her started. When we ate out with them (like 3 times a week) she never stayed legal. I always did. Then she would get bent because I wasn't drinking with her "Oh come on just have one with me". Then she would eat the chocolate lava cake, extra fudge on the side. Then she started making comments about how she "deserved" to eat beer with her pizza cause she had such a hard day. I would eat salad with chicken or steak. She'd make comments like I was picking on her for eating that stuff but actually I never did. It got really uncomfortable. When I realized I was drinking just because it made her happy I told my DH "That's it I'm not eating out with them anymore"
Then like a week later My "friend" decided we were all going to Florida in May for vacation. I told her we couldn't possibly go, DH had 3 big jobs running (he's a carpenter/contractor) and she got all pissey
"You could go you just don't want to."
Anyway can you tell I'm just a little fed up with her? To make things worse she seems to have gained about 20 more pounds and we are doing good money wise. I think she's happy when they are doing better then us.
:cool: :cool: It's a beautiful day again today. The sky is just as clear as it can be. We have a lot of activities planned for this weekend that are outside and I can't wait. Tonight is a minor league baseball game with great fireworks at the end. Tomorrow we will go to an outdoor festival and then cookout tomorrow night. After that there are some great fireworks over the city. Then I will be planning for my trip. When I was on the board before at holidays we would say "JUST SAY NO" to any thing not on the plan. If you make your mind up ahead of time then most:dizzy: of the time you stay OP.
Fillise: I have a pop up blocker that came with AOL. Most of the providers now have that. See if you can download one. I don't get any ads...
Everyone have a great day:smug:
EVENING EVERY BUDDY!!! :wave:
Just got home from a VERY LONG DAY AT THE HOSPITAL....My procedure only took about 15 minutes, but then I had to spend the day flat on my back to avoid what I hear could be a KILLER HEADACHE :eek:
I had the cutest little TV attached to my bed, and I've watched the ANIMAL PLANET all day.....I've had 3 litters of kittens, a litter of pigmy goats, a camel.......WHEW, I'm tired!!!!
You should have seen the needle that was put into my spine!!!!
OH MY GAWD....IT WAS BIG!!!! then he inserted a tube to push the dye up my spine....I better get some results after going thru all this today!
I'm not going to reply to anyone...my back is hurting at the site where the needle went in, and I've already taken my drugs, and they are kicking in....
SUSAN....CALM DOWN!!!! You're not going anywhere....there has to be something that we can do about this....
Everyone hava a great evening...
OK, temper tantrum over--for now.
I'm not going anywhere. EXCEPT I will be off the board for most of July beginning on Wednesday. I will be heading to my parents where I will get in Wed night, drop Belle off. Leave for Charleston on Thursday and do wedding stuff until Sunday, when I will drive to Montreat and do the youth conference and then a Christian Educator's conference (don't know if I will be able to get online there, though I will have the laptop with me), then head back to Mom and Dad's the 25th. So from the 10th to the 25th I will be on very seldom--if at all. Belle and I will head back to Auburn on the 31st. Whew!
BOB--I am going to rid the world of evil spam--just watch! Daniel Day Lewis was one of the scariest villians I've ever seen in Gangs of New York. Enjoy! I hope you get some news soon about what they can do to fix you--of course you only wanted to be out of pain! :lol: I'd give the Inspector General a swift kick in the you-know-what!
Beach--we had a pretty day here too, but then a storm tonight and no electricity AGAIN for about an hour! Lights are back on now. I have a pop up blocker and it works for everything but those annoying ads that cover the screen. I've seen them here and on yahoo and the weather channel websites. It's like trying to read a newspaper, but instead of the ads being beside the articles, they've printed them right over them. I hate being maniplated and that is highly manipulative to me.
Deb--Hope the car gets fixed soon!
The board has been slow today--looks like everyone has taken off eatly for the 4th!
Enjoy everyone!
Just popping in- hubby and his buddies got a wild hair up their butt and decided to leave RIGHT NOW for the reservoir. Those idiots are taking the canoe out tonight! I made them promise me they would wear their lifejackets,etc. I didn't mind at all and I guess my girlfriend's didn't either- they were probably thinking like me- put the kids in the bed and have some peace and quiet. I need to be up by 7 am to get ready and get the kids ready and make the food. Plus I have to go get my friend. She had brain surgery in Jan. All in all, she's doing well but she still can't walk too well. She's finally off the steroids and she put on a whole lot of weight from them. I asked her if she had a bathing suit for tomorrow and she said yes- a bikini! I'm so self conscious being in my 1 piece with a little skirt- there's no way you would ge tme in a bikini, and she's several sizes bigger than me. I've tried to tell her about SB several times, but she says she "needs" her sugar-yea right. Maybe she'll come around. Anyway, I fixing to play a hand or 2 of payday freecell, and then off to bed.
Fillise--In the summer of 1961 I was a counselor at a girls camp there in Montreat. I don't think it is there anymore. I was the arts and crafts counselor. We would go swimming in that little lake right there in the middle of Montreat, and, boy!, was it cold. Every Sunday the entire camp would get dressed up and walk to the big chapel there in the village and attend church. I hope you have a good time on your trip.
Ears
A man lost both ears in an accident. No plastic surgeon could offer him a solution. He heard of a very good one in Sweden, and went to him. The new surgeon examined him, thought a while, and said, "yes, I can do the operation." After the operation, bandages off, stitches out, he goes to his hotel. The morning after, in a rage, he calls his surgeon, and yells, "You *******, you gave me a woman's ears." "Well, an ear is an ear. It makes no difference whether it is a man's or a woman's." "You're wrong! I hear everything, but I don't understand a thing!"
The Cowboy And The Bull
At the end of the workday, one cowboy tells another, "That new bull nearly did me in today, partner." The other cowboys asks, "Oh yeah, what happened?" "I was putting out the feed, when the sucker came charging at me like a locomotive from hell. He damn near killed me!" "So, how'd you get away?", says the other cowboy. He replies, "Well, the bull kept slipping. He slipped three times, and that gave me a chance to make it to the fence and jump over." The other cowboy says, "Man, that's scary. If it'd been me, I would have been so scared out of my mind, I probably would have taken a crap all over the place!" He says, "I DID! What do you think the bull was slipping on?"
The train was very crowded, so the soldier walked the length of the train, looking for an empty seat. The only unoccupied seat was directly adjacent to a well dressed middle-aged French woman and was being used by her little dog.
The war weary soldier asked, "Please, ma'am, may I sit in that seat?"
The French woman looked down her nose at the soldier, sniffed and said, "You Americans. You are such a rude class of people. Can't you see my Little Fife is using that seat?"
The soldier walked away, determined to find a place to rest, but after another trip down to the end of the train, found himself again facing the woman with the dog.
Again he asked, "Please, lady. May I sit there? I'm very tired."
The French woman wrinkled her nose snorted, "You Americans! Not only are you rude, you are also arrogant. Imagine!"
The soldier didn't say anything else; he leaned over, picked up the little dog, tossed it out the window of the train, and sat down in the empty seat.
The woman shrieked, railed, demanded that someone defend her, and chastise the soldier.
An English gentleman sitting across the aisle spoke up, "You know, sir, you Americans do seem to have a penchant for doing the wrong thing. You eat holding the fork in the wrong hand. You drive your autos on the wrong side of the road. And now, sir, you've thrown the wrong ***** out the window!
You go to the drugstore for ibuprofen and antacids, not condoms and pregnancy tests.
A $4.00 bottle of wine is no longer "pretty good stuff."
You actually eat breakfast foods at breakfast time.
I hope everyone has a great 4th!
It looks like rain here. Hope it gets it out of its system now so we can enjoy the fireworks tonight!
Today is Miss Belle's birthday! She is two years old today. Do cats go through the terrible two's? She already celebrated with a Fancy Feast "cake" (she normally eats dry food).
Gator--There is a girls camp, Camp Merri-Mac, just up the street from the Montreat Conference center--is that where you worked? It is still going strong. I don't think I'll try swimming in the Lake, but I am looking forward to what I hope will be a little cooler temps! They have built a beautiful new chapel with a fresco depicting the story of the prodigal son. It is very moving to sit there let yourself get transported into the story!
Zanne--thanks for the good thoughts!
Heart--Have fun at the Resevoir! As for your friend--After what she's been through her "inside" beauty has to shine through the pounds on the outside, so if she wants to wear a bikini, I say go for it!!!!!
I have some friend that throw a big cookout on the 4th. They make the best ribs in the world!!! I know there is a little sugar in the sauce, but I'll stay away from sugar otherwise. I'm getting ready to make some WW pancakes for breakfast--yum!
Have a great 4th everyone!
I brought HOW TO LOSE A GUY IN 10 DAYS from Circuit city. Haven't watched it yet.
The steroids are what made me HUGE. I can't believe anyone could possibly wear a bikini after being on steroids, unless thy were a complete twig to begin with!
I've always loved your "You can exercise until the cows come home, but unless you start eating right, you'll still be a cow coming home."
Ok got on the scale this morning, weight was 200. Have been stuck on 202/203 for weeks. After seeing this it will definatly make me think twice about eating crap today. I do have to eat some watermelon though. Wouldn't be the 4th without it!
Happy & safe 4th of July everyone!
Hello Everyone:)
Happy 4th of July. God Bless the families today who have family serving in the military. They are true heroes.
Had a great time last night at the baseball game. Was able to stay OP and have fun;) The fireworks are truly incredible.
Today we are off to a 4th of July festival and then will cook out.
My son wants to get fireworks...I hate them but it seems to be a boy thing I can't control. I wish they were outlawed where I live:mad: I've learned there are some battles that I just can't win against the boys in my family. Being a girl from an all girl family I just never was exposed to this.
See you later.
Hi everyone!
Deb suggested that I get myself back on the board, before I'm forgotten, which may be the case already. There isn't any reason I can't take at least 5 minutes to post more often and I already know that I stay OP much better when I'm accountable to the board. I've gained about 6 pounds since I haven't been around so don't want the numbers to get any higher, especially since my 30 year HS reunion is only 2 months away:yikes:
Hope everybody is having a nice Holiday. I'm just spending a quiet day at home with my Mom and the hounds. Will probably cook out something later and lounge in the pool if it doesn't rain.
Tranquil and DS left yesterday for a vacation in New Jersey with her parents, so her hound, Miss Fluff is staying with us. She is driving and the trip is going well. She is expecting to arrive at her destination around 5 this afternoon. I don't envy that long drive but she had satellite radio installed before leaving so that helps the time pass by with so much available for listening to.
Will check back in soon and post more.
Evening, everyone! I am trying to entertain a whole bunch of unexpected teenagers, who are right now, outside with a huge bag of fireworks, and packing to leave for our trip to Florida. Whew!
I am tired, and feel a bit achy and cranky. Tom was also cranky. He had a bunch of things he wanted to get done outside today, but it poured all day. It finally cleared off while we were eating dinner, but was still too wet to mow the lawn. I think that will delay our leaving in the morning until he can get that done.
Yesterday, I went out and bought myself a memory card for my daughter's Gamecube. Sounds like an addiction to me, how about you? :) I made my own game and saved it. Such fun! I am itching to play it now, but my son and his friend are supervising the teens outside, and they left their war game on pause. :(
GATOR: So far, we have not been able to get in touch with my SIL. We still are not sure if we will go on to Fort Myers, or Naples, or just stay in Cocoa Beach. I will call you once I know.
BOB: I guess since you did not respond, you either did not see my post about coming to Sarasota, or don't have the time to possibly get together..... maybe next time?
LISA: If you continue to have trouble losing, please get your thyroid checked. Recently, the standard levels for normal thyroid TSH were lowered by the Endocrinologists Association. Normal now i
