IT ADS UP
A small effort, over time, can make a big difference. Anyone can make a slight improvement, and soon those slight improvements can add up to an enormous advantage.
How can you live today just a little bit better than yesterday? There are thousands of great possibilities.Too often we strive for sudden, dramatic changes, and almost as often are disappointed when they are beyond our reach. Yet the little improvements, the ones no one notices, are the most reliable and consistent way to move ahead.
Sure, it takes discipline, but so what? Discipline is nothing more than desire that has become smart and has learned what works.
Reach for the big dreams, to be sure. And do it by taking small steps forward at every opportunity. Today is one of those opportunities to take a small, yet significant step. Take it now while you can, and tomorrow you'll indeed be thankful you did.

CONFIDENT OF SUCCESS
No one is ever assured of success. Every undertaking carries with it some risk. Yet even though there is no assurance of success, some people are confident enough to get started. Some of those are confident enough to keep going in the face of obstacles and disappointments. And some of those are confident enough to persist until the success is actually achieved.
Where does confidence come from? It comes from experience. Being confident comes as a result of acting confident. What would you do today if you were confident of success? Do it. What first step would you take? Take it. How would you sit, how would you walk, how would you greet other people, how would you act if you were confident of success?
Act that way and the confidence will come. Yes, confidence takes a little blind faith at first. Soon enough, however, that confidence becomes real, supported and confirmed by actual experience. Act confident and you'll begin to be confident. Be confident and you'll have what it takes to bring your goals into reality.

The Quilter 06-02-2003, 08:10 AM Good Monday Morning to All!!!!
Well today is MONET's first day of work. She's already there working her little behind off. Sending out good thoughts your way, M. Hope this works out for you and that you enjoy it. You are such a bright sunny spot for those who know you!!!
DEB, love the It Adds Up Motivation. I just went back to that one on his page and re read it this morning before I got here today. I guess we were on the same wavelength. I did not get around to calling Shirley this weekend. My family reunion is this coming weekend. And I have lots to do before that. It's not here in town, so my niece is coming to stay with "the girl" while we head east. That means the house has to be clean and the refrigerator has to be full. Plus I decided to make a piece of jewelry for the cousin we are staying with. Plus I'm putting together a picture collage on the computer of all our relatives who have passed on. I'm waiting for some pics from my mom and another cousin to arrive in the mail. Thank god I don't have any evening meetings this week.
Okay, here's the thing. That exercise board is way too slow. We didn't even get past page 1 last week. So I am upping the ante. GET MOVING!!! And post it!!!! I hope that doesn't sound bossy. But I promise you will feel so much better. I know a few of you (BOB and FILLISE) aren't exactly in the right place to exercise, so they have a good excuse. But come on for the rest of us, what's your excuse???? Is it a good one? Is it a medical one???? I would just like to see a lot more people on their reporting how they have incorporated daily exercise in their lives. It really helps me to get on there and read what everybody else is doing. It's motivating. Who's with me???? Let's do it!!!
Have a great week!
Kim
Talitha 06-02-2003, 09:24 AM Good Morning all
I was very bad over the weekend. Too many parties with nothing SB to eat. I was ok Sat with dinner, but then they has STrwbwrries w/ romanoff sauce for dessert. Never in my life will i be able to resist that!! Yesterday I was good, but it was a challenge. All they had at the grad party was ahmburgers, menonite sausage (YUMMMMM), chips, potato salad and baked beans. I ate 2 sausages without buns and watched everyone else eat chips  It was worth it, though.
So, you all have permission to call me a dumbie for not posting exercise and water on the chart. I for got it was there. And I didn't know that I could journal here, too/ I've been doing it on Fitday.com I will try it today.
Well, Selah is getting bored in the other room by herself. We're going for a walk now so that I can post my exercise :D
Debelli 06-02-2003, 10:50 AM Good Monday Morning Everyone:wave:
Was able to get out there and get in my 4. 5 miles:cp: I haven't been able to exercise for one reason or another for so long it was hard to do, but I did it. Took me 57 minutes and it was brutally hot:flame: out there. Two minutes after I walked in the door it started to pour, :rain: perfect timing. I'm cooling down now before I have to get in the shower and take a class to go to yoga today.
NADINE, ELI'S sister is preparing to leave as I type. She decided to stay another night and is leaving on a 1:20pm flight back to Toronto.
MICHAEL had the MIAMI CHILDREN'S FILM FESTIVAL on Saturday. He didn't win the best documentary which was his category for his main piece submitted but he did win the RISING STAR award for his piece which I guess is that they see the potential in him all around. The one that won WAS very good I have to say. At first he wasn't happy as they only showed the winners pieces in their entirety and his film was only shown for 2 minutes and not even a good part of the film either, but after they had already announced the winner of the documentary and then all of a sudden they announced an award for him, he got better. One thing about MICHAEL, he doesn't lose well at all and we tried to tell him that he didn't lose anyway, he's definitely a winner because his film is going somewhere. THEN, they announce BEST ACTRESS award and the lady is going "ANNA SHAR, I can't say this last name" and I just yelled out SCHARNAGLE, which is MICHAEL'S friend who starred in his other piece called SELF that they didn't even show a second of, which the whole thing is like 3 minutes. Sorta stupid because no one got to see why she won the best actress award! We stopped by her house on the way home and she was sooo surprised.
After the ceremony which was being taped by PBS. MICHAEL was interviewed by them. He had been interviewed by them before and this was a follow-up interview. It's for a new show about things going on in Florida and I was told they would contact us when it's going to air. That it should be available to all the Florida PBS stations to see so if you are in FLORIDA, I'll be letting you guys know when it's released so you can watch for it in your local areas.:D
He got some wonderful praise and feedback from the judges and at the end was quite happy and pleased. Have some pictures that I will try to post later.
Okay, NADINE just left and I'm having to get in the shower so I'm going to have to continue this and get in all my replies later on. I'm hoping I will be able to get back on this afternoon before I have to p/u MICHAEL. LAUREN is staying after school today and I have to go to her FRESHMAN SHOWCASE tonight. Tomorrow I have a board dinner at 6:30pm but the day is free, at least I think it is:shrug:
Hope you all have a wonderful fantabulous week!!!

Jenn in MN 06-02-2003, 11:32 AM Hi everyone!
I am so far behind on the personals, I apologize! I slept most of the weekend. The early PG exhaustion rearing it's ugly head! AND, I think I'm getting morning sickness. I was eating my scrambled eggs and got about halfway through when it just started tasting weird and I had to give the rest to DH. So I only listed one egg for breakfast! :o
On the OP side, I made this wonderful Zucchini Lasagna last night - you use zucchini instead of noodles. DH loved it! Said it was just like the "real" thing. :D
My menu for today:
B:2 celery stalks with 1 tbsp peanut butter
1 egg w/ 1 tbsp hot n' spicy mayo
S: hard boiled egg (if I can eat it!)
L: 3 oz. chicken dark meat with 2 cups lettuce w/ 1 tbsp dressing and red wine vinegar, zucchini lasagna (1 serving)
S: SF jello
D: Tuna melt w/ cheddar & tomato on 1 slice SGWW bread
1 c. steamed broccoli w/ lemon juice
S: 3 oz. grapes
Any suggestions/opinions? I think I need to add one more fruit.
On another note (still baby related - sorry!) we finally picked our names!!! :bb: For a boy: Colin George. Girl: Evelyn Estelle.
Gotta run, this is a busy week for me at work! Hugs!
Jenn
jecrites 06-02-2003, 12:30 PM Hello everyone.
It's raining here. I'm so tired of rain. It rained nearly the whole month last month. I was looking forward to a nice clear pretty day, of course I didn't watch and see what the weather was supposed to do, but I was planning on washing my dirty car. I got it all cleaned out and washed on the inside last night. Poor thing, I'm sure if cars could think and talk it would have been telling me for 6 months now to clean it out. When hubby takes it all the time, it becomes his own little personal trash can, and he won't lift a finger to clean anything out of there either. He says that it's my car and I should be the one to clean it, but he's the one who messes it up. I just don't get that one.:?:
Ok, I have no excuses now for not exercising, except that I totally hate doing it and I'm extremely lazy when it comes to that, and neither one of those are good excuses, so I'm gonna start the treadmill today. It's sitting here beside me now and the key to it is in my dresser, so I've got to get off my fat butt and get on that thing. Does my move count as exercise? I mean I was walking a lot and lifting a lot of stuff and moving stuff around in here after we got moved in. I'm just wondering about that.
I have to tell y'all that I've been wearing size 18 jeans for a few months now, and oh my gosh it felt so good to get out of those 20's, but now I can put on my size 16 jean shorts and wear them pretty much all day, and when I sat down here to post, I noticed that the muscles in my upper arms are getting to where they can be seen now too. If only these boobs would start shrinking!
Ok, I'm off to put on some shoes and get my butt on the treadmill. I'll be sure to post it when I'm done. I'll talk to y'all later.
Jenn
Pancho 06-02-2003, 12:41 PM Good Monday Morning all:
I will be heading out soon to take my daughter to swim lessons and then I am going to the gym to workout. Remember how I was sick last week with some type of stomach bug, well I am still weighing in at 133. I was as low as 131.5 the morning after the yucky night I had (prior to that, I was fluctuating between 135-136). Maybe my body was getting ready for a whoosh anyway.
I am being really good about exercising, but just never post it. I workout 3-4 times a week, so I better go post it on the exercise board. I will do that later (promise).
Kim: Sounds like you have a lot to do to prepare for this reunion. Have a blast; sounds like fun. It sounds like you have put a lot of thought into the presentation for the family; I'm sure everyone will be delighted!
Talitha: It is so hard to stay on plan when you are at parties. Don't beat yourself up; at least you rebounded Sunday.
Debelli: You should be so proud of Michael. What an honor to receive the Rising Star award. That's great!!!!
Jenn in MN: Wow, finally picked names  It nearly took us up to the due date to decide for sure. Morning sickness really stinks, but seems to be a good sign of a healthy pregnancy in progress.
Well, that' is for now....better run.
I will check in later, and hopefully be able to post more than once a week. I justs get so busy.:dizzy:
Solly 06-02-2003, 05:36 PM Quickie,
I'm here, barley. Hasn't been a good weekend and the week isn't starting out any better. Back is much better. It should be after a shot, massage, hot ultrasound, and hot moist treatment. Pain meds and muscle relaxers made me deathly sick.
My dad is worse, it is just a matter of time I think and pray. I hate to see him suffer so much. It is so hard on my DSis, to have to be there constantly. He is not eating at all, his kidneys are almost shut down, the pneumonis is no better and his heart is giving out. I pray the good Lord takes him soon.
It is crazy here at work. I'm trying to work ahead in case I have to leave. Plus it is a bad week.
Eating was not good over the weekend. Either the wrong things or nothing at all. Still have no appetite.
I haven't had time to read the posts. I really hate missing out on them. I need them to keep me going. Hoperfully, I will catch up soon.
Bob, you really need to come to Ky and go to my pain Doc. He'll fix you up in no time.
Have a great day.
Jackie
cathlaur 06-02-2003, 05:59 PM Well I have been reading your posts but not posting. Sad but true:o I have done SB in the past kind of. I did do Atkins but found it to restrictive and higher fat. Now I am trying to stick to SB.
I hope you dont mind if I jump in. My name is Katie I am 37 married with 2 dds 8 and 9. I live in Ontario Canada and work full time. I am 5 10 with a large build and currently weigh 182.5. My goal is 170 at this time. I was 196 starting Atkins. I like that SB is something more reasonable and hopefully something I can do for life. All the meat and higher fat is sometimes hard to take with Atkins. I work full time and I have a thyroid problem. I lost the right side ( papillary microcarcinoma) but am doing well. I am having knee surgery on July 8th and am worried about gaining weight. I exercise alot so I guess I can join that thread to. My goal for June is to go to Curves 4 times a week and the treadmill 3 times. I think this month I should see some body fat go.
Okay that is it for now. I hope to get to know you all better
Katie
Arcayne 06-02-2003, 06:22 PM HI KATIE!!! I'm fairly new too, and I read the boards before I started posting. Gives you a feel for what kind of community this is ( and this is a good one!!) My sister is doing Atkins and trying to lure me to the dark side, while I wave my yummy fruits in her direction, and my brown rice:) Glad that you decided to post, this is a wonderfully supportive group of people!!
cathlaur 06-02-2003, 06:26 PM Arcayne. I toooooooo missed the fruit. The pasta and rice I can leave behind but fruit, yogurt and a good no sugar bread or even trisquits were really missed. I am hoping that this works for me. We shall see.
Thanks again and good luck.
Debelli 06-02-2003, 06:54 PM Be back later (or tomorrow probably) but wanted to get this post copied over here for replies:D

sugarbusters weight loss
How much weight and in how long have you all lost on sugarbusters? When can I expect to see some results. Also, what is the rule with instant sugarless fatfree pudding? Thanks!
The Quilter 06-02-2003, 07:25 PM Whew, looks like we made it through that Monday again. Way to go, you all!!!
My eating has been right on target today. Thank goodness for small favors! And I even got an extra walk in at lunch. There's a little store a couple of blocks away and I talked a co-worker into walking there and back with me. Had on my pedometer and it was a 2,600 step walk. So far I'm at 8044 steps for the day. Hoping to go for another walk tonight with Paul when he gets home from work.
The reason for the evening walk is that I have sad news about Miss Maddie. I can't remember what I've told you all, so if I repeat myself, please forgive me. Her back leg (the left one) has been giving her trouble. It started out last summer with a dragging sound when she walked. We couldn't figure out what it was. Well, it's gotten steadily worse since and she cannot get traction on the floor with it, especially on wood and linoleum. Well, our regular vet referred me to a surgeon. We went on Friday. Paul took time from work to meet us there. The surgeon did a VERY thorough exam and diagnosed her with Degenerative Myleopathy. There is no known cure and the prognosis is not good for her. She will eventually be paralyzed in her back end. UGH!!! I have been a wreck. Between crying jags, I have started looking for info on the web. It seems to be very common in German Shepherd Dogs. I will talk to our regular vet tomorrow and see what she thinks we should do. In the meantime, one article I read from a guy at University of FL (let's hear it for FL!!!) said that exercise will help them keep their strength. If she gets to the point where she needs a wheelchair, it's even more important for her front legs to be strong. Sorry to take up so much space talking about something that has nothing to do with SB, but I just wanted to let you know where we were at our house.
Okay, here are some quick replies:
JACKK---Feel better soon. Sorry to hear you've had so much bad stuff. And so sorry to hear about your dad. I'll keep you all in my thoughts and prayers.
CATHLAUR---I checked in at the exercise board and was PLEASED to see that one of our new members was already posting there. Good job!!!!! This is a good group to hang with. Some really great people. You'll learn a lot and get tons of support.
PANCH---Glad to know you have been exercising. Getting to post to that board is an added bonus. Take time and BRAG about yourself and your accomplishments. It really helps me to hear that others are doing well with that.
JECRITES----WTG!!!!!! I am so proud of you for getting on that TM and getting busy!!! That's great! Remember, if it's difficult at first, give it a few days and it will seem easier. You'll see. Just give that metabolism of yours the boost it needs!!!!!
JENN---Hope that nasty old morning sickness doesn't get you down. Have you started craving anything weird yet? Hang in there!!! Your zuchhini lasagna sounds wonderful!!! You must be a great cook!!! I love your name selections. Is any of it family/friend based?
DEB---Hey, sometimes losing really sucks. Poor Michael just has such an attachment to his piece. Bless his heart! Do you think the PBS interview will appear all over the country or just at your local station. Has the Debelli Hotel gotten empty all of a sudden??? You'd better get some more reservations . . . you won't know what to do without a guest.
TALITHA---What are Strawberries with Romanof sauce? Sounds yummy. Sounds sinful.
Gotta go. Reunion projects are calling.

OH>>>>MY>>>>>GAWD!!!!!!! I ran out of gas on the way home from work today! In all my years of driving, this has NEVER happened to me...luckily, I was only about three blocks from my regular gas station...SO I got my big ole arse out and walked up there got a can of gas, walked back and then up to the staion to fill up! I WAS HOTTER THAN A THREE PECKERED GOAT!!! The sweat was rolling all over me..there wasn't a dry thread on me!
The walk felt good, except for the heat...:p
A group of us at work are going to start doing the first tape of WALK AWAY THE POUNDS...it's the one mile and takes about 15 minutes to complete. We can use one of the conference rooms that has a VCR..SO KIM...I'll start posting on that exercise board of yours pretty soon! ;)
KIM...OH...I'm so sorry to hear about Maddie Girl...This is actually common on quite a few breeds of large dogs. I have a friend who
had a Rottie and she was plagued with that disease. Give her a big ole sloppy kiss from me and SKEETER...

DEB...CONGRATS TO MICHAEL and his STAR!!! Is there an echo in your house from being empty???
I'm outta here...got to get rubbed down before Kate's baseball game starts!
BOB
Zanne 06-02-2003, 09:02 PM Hey Gang!
Well, after doing well for a week with my exercise, I was a bad girl for 5 days. Excuses, excuses. First a migraine kept me away from working out, then I hurt my back lifting DS. Anyway, I stuck the DVD in today and did my workout.:strong: I've still gotta work on getting in enough fruit and veggies, but the eating isn't too bad. Water is going good.
We've had rotten weather--a lot colder than it should be. My inlaws keep complaining and wish they were back in Florida. Today was nice and I was in shorts. Mind you the cool weather is nice for sleeping.
BOB--I hope someone will give you an answer and you can get all better soon. I like the WATP tapes. Good for you for doing it.
QUILTER--Sorry to hear about Maddie. WTG for doing extra exercise. I will try to remember to post on the exercise board. Your reunion sounds like it will be lots of fun.
CATHLAUR--Whoohoo! Another Canuk! Where in Ontario are you? I'm just outside Toronto (by one street!!!) in Thornhill. I have an underactive thyroid I take meds for. Sounds like you're doing great and if you have good habits before surgery, you'll bounce back right after.
JACKK--Sorry you aren't feeling so well. And I'm sorry to hear about your dad. I'll keep you and your family in my thoughts.
PANCHO--Glad you're feeling better. Not a nice way to lose, but I hope the scale stays down for you.
JEC--Congrats on getting into the smaller sizes. Keep up the good work
JENN--The lasagna sounds yummy. Is the recipe from the boards?
DEB--WTG in doing that exercise. Now just keep it up! That's wonderful news about Michael. I'm sure you are very proud.
HELLO to all newbies!
Ok, I gotta go. Have a great SB evening all.
Ellen 06-02-2003, 10:48 PM Hello, from Spa Monet!
I felt pretty tired by the time I got home, and hour later than I was supposed to. Laura made me take a nap while she made me a BLT and a salad. Then she intended to drag me off shopping, but I instead called the doctor's office and made an appointment for her. The rest of the day went from bad to worse. The doctor was running over two hours behind. Our three o'clock appointment turned into 6pm, and Laura had wanted to meet a friend of hers for dinner at five. She got worse and worse, and I would dearly like to forget the whole situation. My older daughter, Ruth, was along with us. What a day! Then tonight, Tom wanted to plan vacation, and no one was agreeing on anything. I wanted to scream!
My job this morning was fun. I got a good bit done, even if I was wiped out by the time I got home. I can see why they needed me. This store is three times as busy as the store I worked in before. The one decorator who was supposed to be showing me where things were is very nice, but spacey. I think I flustered her a good bit by rushing ahead on things. I like to accomplish a lot when I work...makes me feel good to get a lot done. Tomorrow will be interesting.
Eating today was interesting. I have to leave so early, I don't get much breakfast. I was starving by 10am. Not sure how to solve that, but I am going to think about it. I may carry a protein bar to nibble on when I take a break. For dinner, I went to Moe's Southwestern deli with Ruth- her treat. I got a salad, which was pretty good, but I did eat the tortilla bowl it was served in. I was rather hungry... I never had any chance to snack inbetween meals today, which was probably a good thing!
Time for me to climb in bed! Sweet dreams you all! I hope I can spend a more quiet afternoon tomorrow, and will have some time to catch up on posts. I did skim them today, and thanks for the well wishes!
Welcome to Cathlaur! Glad you joined us!
DEB: We may spend some time in south Florida in Fort Myers Beach in July. Is that too far for us to get together? We will have Laura with us, and don't have firm plans yet.
Rosalie 06-03-2003, 02:21 AM Hi Everyone
Deb - Congrats to Michael for winning the award. Looking forward to seeing some pictures. I will endeavor to work on the challenges again this week. I did my usual exercise last week but forgot to post it on the board. I didn't do too well with my water intake but will have to try better this week.
Kim - Sounds like you are very busy getting ready for the family reunion. So sorry to hear about Maddie. That's fine to be bossy about the exercise board. Sometimes we need a reminder.
Talitha - WTG for staying op yesterday with all those snacks tempting you.
Jenn in MN - The Zucchini Lasagna sounds interesting. I think I will try that tomorrow. Have you tried the Zucchini Pizza? That's good too. I like the names you have chosen for the baby.
Jecrites - That sucks that your dh won't clean up his own mess in the car. Maybe you should try hiding the keys from him ;). I think your move should count as exercise. You probably got as much of a workout that you would have got at the gym. WTG on getting into those size 16's. That's always a morale booster to get into a smaller size.
Pancho - Glad to hear your weight is still down but that wasn't a nice way to lose it. Hope you are feeling better now.
Jack-K - Glad to hear your back is better but so sorry to hear about your Dad. I hope he doesn't have to suffer too much and that they can give him something to make his last days comfortable.
Cathlaur - Glad to have you join us. Where abouts in Ontario are you? I live just north of Toronto.
BOB - Too bad you have to wait another week to see the Doctor for the MRI results. Hope the meds are helping to keep you pain free. Good for you starting the WATP tapes.
Zanne - Glad to see you are getting back into the exercise routine.
Monet - Sorry you had such a lousy afternoon but sounds like you did o.k. on the first day on the job.
My eating has been o.k. this past week except for Friday when I was at a party. But was back op the next day. I was down another 1/2 pound this morning to 196. Hope I can maintain it through WIW and beyond. This is what I have eaten to-day:
1/4 cup oatmeal cooked with water
14 oz 2% milk
2 eggs
2 oz back bacon
6 strawberries
1/2 cup fresh fruit salad
1 small tomato
1/2 cup chan dal
3 oatcakes
1 oz gouda cheese
1 tbs. fruit spread
Chicken curry - 4 oz. white meat, 1 small wing, 1/2 cup sweet potato
1/2 cup green peas
3 oz peanuts (in shell)
Calories: 1913. Protein: 120 gms (26%) Fat: 78 gms (38%) Carbs: 193 gms (37%).
Too much fat I know - but my ratios were fine until I ate those peanuts. I couldn't believe 31 grms of fat in three oz peanuts in shell. I really pigged out there - I try to fool myself that I can eat more when they are in the shell - normally I would only have 1-2 oz. - but I guess those shells don't really weigh anything. :o
Nite all.
Marie.
Teensybean 06-03-2003, 02:26 AM Monday night-- Evening ladies.... hope you all had a great day today. Was kinda windy, and cool here today. But I got the back yards all weed wacked, and then mowed. The front isn't long enough to mow again yet. Worked in the garden some, and then cleaned off the back patio. Still working at getting all my annuals planted. Am pretty tired at night, but it is a good tired. Have been getting 5 days of exercise in. I am taking the week ends off now, but hitting it hard and heavy during the week.
Eating was not what I planned today. I had one too many starchy carbs. Darn it, I hate it when I do that. I don't know what I was thinking. Maybe with all the yard work, it won' hurt too bad. Hope not.
Quilter--Here we go.....exercise is the key!! I feel for you about your puppy dog. I have 3 and am the biggest baby when they get hurt or sick. Hope that something will be able to help her. Poor baby.
Talitha--Sounds like you had a busy weekend. Sometimes it can be so hard to stay OP. We have a family potluck every Saturday, some days I don't find much to eat. But then other times I can eat almost everything. Summer is a good time, because of all the fresh vegetables, and fruit. I do try to eat my fruits atleast a half hour before eating anything else, but sometimes it just can't be helped. And it doesn't seem to upset my stomach.
Deb-- How proud you must be. That is wonderful for Michael. A rising film director? Producer? WOW!!
Jenn in MN--Hope you get to feeling better. I was lucky for both of my pregnancies, no morning sickness. Hope that it will pass soon.
Jec-- I know what you mean about the rain. We are finally getting some sun, but not what we should have this time of the year. Cloudy, windy, and around 70. I too am still waiting for the great shrinking boobs!! LOL.
Pancho-- Way to go on the loss, and so glad you are feeling better.
Jack-k-- Please get to feeling better. I am so very sorry about your Dad. I too pray that he will find comfort soon. My prayer are with you and your family. God Bless you.
Cathlaur--WELCOME TO SUGAR BUSTERS!! This is a wonderful way of eating. Very healthy, I did Protein Power for a year and a half. Stalled for six months, so I started SB. Have lost 9 more pounds since starting this woe. Again, I welcome you.
BOB-- Well, that is one way to get your exercise in for the day!! lol. I think that would be a fun way to exercise at work. Sometimes I wish I had a friend close enough to exercise with. But we are out in the boonies, and all by ourselves. So I just crank up the volume on my Rod Stewart cd. Ha Ha.
See all of you tomorrow, sweet dreams.
Debelli 06-03-2003, 03:52 AM Having one of THOSE nights!
Went to sleep, exhausted, but feeling a little barfy. THEN ELI started up with his RLS. Finally around 1:30 or so he shifted and things seemed to be better there but I still was getting these little waves of nauseau. So here I am sleeping and I'm having some really weird dream that I'm at work at some place that has old Xmas trees and it's summer and all of a sudden people are buying these dried out, brown, half needle gone trees. So in my dream I go take a walk and then I have something coming out of my mouth. Wake up just in time to run to the bathroom and be sick:fr: Have to sit up for a few because it feels like something is in the wrong pipe and I keep clearing my throat. Hoping not to stay up but figured I'd come on the computer and say hello til I get on here later this morning to post. Yep, it's going to be one of THOSE nights!
Deb
Solly 06-03-2003, 09:05 AM We were about one mile into our walk last night and I got the call that my dad has passed away. So that was the end of our walk. It was a long night. We headed to Lexington and didn't get home until 12:30.
Thank you all for all your prayers and warm thoughts. It really means alot to me.
I probably won't be back on the board until Friday or even Monday.
Everybody stay on track and post on that exercise board or Kim will come and get you.
Jackie
Zanne 06-03-2003, 09:30 AM JACKIE--I'm sorry to hear of your dad's passing. I know you wanted him to be at peace and now he's not suffering. Thoughts are still with you and your family.
cathlaur 06-03-2003, 09:44 AM Thanks very much for the warm welcome I truly appreciate it. I think it is going to take me a couple of days or weeks:dizzy: to get used to the thread and to get to know you all. I am doing well I hope . I only weigh once a month so I will let you know on June 26th how I am doing.
Zanne and Rosalie. WOW more Canadians. I live in Rockwood which is near Guelph Ontario. I grew up in Caledon and Brampton if that helps at all. I work in Milton Ontario at the Big Super Jail. So we are not that far at all.
Okay I am off but will check back in later
katie
Talitha 06-03-2003, 11:44 AM It's raining, it's pouring......am i ever going to ge4t a whole week of exercise in? i'm going to do lots of calisthenics and walk up and down my stairs at least 25 times today. that's all i can think to do. any suggestions? those of you with a TM should count your blessings. i would give anything to have a TM so i could walk when it rains, or to have the $$ to join a gym. My keyboard isn't working, so if there are a lot of typos and wrong punctuations it is because the keys are sticking and they are wired off or something. Travis is bringing me a new one today.
last night I was sooooo good. My sis-in-law came over for me to cut n color her hair, and she brought chololate and coke. I wasn't even tempted. and i drank 32 more oz of water while she was here. I think I'm going to float away!!! :rain:
So are we supposed to post our menu for the day? is that what you all mean by journaling? well, I cam do that at the end of the day when i know what i'm gonna eat:dizzy:
i'm having the hardest time with breakfast. i just forget to eat until about 10am every morning, and i just start with a fruit snack. is that ok? :?:
Debbie- sorry you had such an aweful night. I hate it when i have funky dreams. i wake up exhausted as if inever even slept. TEll Michael congratulations. What a great acheivment!!
Katie - I'm pretty new, too. Everyone here is awesome, and it won't take you long to get to know us all. I keep a notebook next to my PC with a list of names and write little notes about people next to their names, just to remembe who has kids, who works etc...
Kim - Romanof suace is strained sour cream whipped with brown sugar and brandy poured over strawberries or any other fress fruit. IT's sooooooo gooooooodddddddd
Teensy - unfortunately, there where no fruits and veggies at the party sunday. if i had known, i would have brought some! The host, Nikki, is the Martha Stewart type, so I just assumed she would have some fruit or veggies. Won't assume that again!!
Jenn in MN - your names are great!!!! Have you ever heard of Baby Wise? It's a book that advocates scheduling your baby's feedings. It helped me so much. My mother always did 'on demand' feedings with my siblings, and it was a big hastle be cause she never knew when they would be hungry. I had Selah on Baby Wise schedule from 3 weeks old, and she was sleeping through the night at 9 weeks old, and sleeping from 9pm to 7am by 3 months old. It's great especially if you are breast feeding. A friend of mine had a baby the same day as Selah, and she bottle feeds, but also does Baby Wise scheduling, and her baby was sleeping throught the night at about the same time, too. Anyway, I tell everyone about it. You may want to check it out :D
So can anyone tell me how many posts I have to do to become a real member instead of just a junior membe :twirly:
Jenn in MN 06-03-2003, 11:55 AM Hello everyone,
I'm still here, feeling okay at times, a little nauseous at others. I am not eating as much as I should, but I guess that's okay. I have plenty of weight as storage to feed the little one.
My husband's great-aunt passed away yesterday, so we're trying to see if he can go to her funeral in Chicago this weekend. I won't be able to go, but hopefully he can.
I had a bowl of Kashi Go Lean Crunch this morning. It's not strictly OP (too much honey) but it's loaded with protein and fiber. And DH sprinkled wheat germ on top. What a guy!
Katie, Welcome!
Kim, we are using family names for the middle names - for Colin George, my uncle's name is George. With Evelyn Estelle, my DH's grandmother is Grandma Estelle. :)
BOB, I'm sorry, but I had to  at your descriptions! You are so funny! Glad you got the gas okay. That's not fun.
Zanne, I can't remember where I found the recipe, but I don't think it was here. I'll have to post it!
Marie, I haven't tried the Zucchini Pizza. It sounds good!
Teensy, as weird as it sounds, I am hoping for the morning sickness, just to prove to me things are going along as they should. I never got m/s with my miscarriage, so I guess I'm scared to think this is real unless my symptoms are stronger.
Deb, Sorry about your illness :( and what a dream! Hope you're doing/feeling better today.
Jack-K, My thoughts and prayers are with you and your family on the loss of your dad. :grouphug:
Talitha, thanks for the suggestion on Baby Wise! I'll have to add it to my Amazon Registry. :)
ttfn,
Jenn
Fillise 06-03-2003, 12:18 PM Hello!
I'm back from the mountains and a little sore! Yesterday as we were loading the car in the rain, my shoe got caught in some mud and I went down on an asphalt driveway. No serious injuries, just skinned knees and elbows and stiff muscles this am. The worst part was that I had to ride home 3 hours in wet clothes! Ick!
Jackie--I will keep you in my thoughts and prayers this week. It is comforting to know that he is no longer suffering and is at peace. Know we all love you hear and will be here for you when you return.
JenninMN--If you are barfy it must be real--those hormones are surging! I can understand the fear though. I hear that you worry about everything when you are pregnant, so I guess you are getting a good start on things.
Talitha--It's raining here too--AGAIN! My flowers are loving it, but I'm not. Good for you for resisting your sister's evil temptations last night!
Cathlaur--Welcome! It's good to have you on the board and with us on the SB WOE.
BOB--Now why did you let that Dr. go out of town?????? He must be made to understand that football season is a mere 12 weeks away and BOB must be able to work those organge shakers by then!!!!!
Deb--Hope you are feeling better this am.
Sorry this is short--I've got to head over to the church this am. Will try to post a longer response later.
Eating was great this weekend--totally OP!
Susan
jecrites 06-03-2003, 02:02 PM Hello everyone.
I haven't gotten my TM walk done yet today. I've been talking to my mom. I'm going to get my butt on there as soon as I get done with this post though.
I got back on the right track yesterday; not just the exercise, but eating as well. Eating wasn't going all that good since the move and all, but I finally got back to my senses yesterday.
Not a whole lot going on here. Hubby laughed at me yesterday. I went and bought a water hose and it was raining. I got the hose to wash my car with. The one we had got messed up and he had never replaced it.
Quilter, That TM isn't all that hard to do. I was shooting for an hour on there, but with the kids running through the house fighting and yelling at each other and putting their feet on there, by 40 min. I had had enough of their mess. Hopefully after a few times of me being on there they'll get used to it and leave each other and the TM alone so I can do an hour. I love it that school is out so I can get a little bit more sleep, but I also can't wait for it to start back so I won't have to hear all the fights; am I awful or what?
BOB, Shame on your Doc to leave when he knows you are waiting on some very important info.
Zanne, I know about headaches, I had one for about 2 months straight about 2 years ago. It was a fake tumor, and now when I get a headache I run for the med. cabinet! Hope your back gets better.
Rosalie, I would love to hide the keys from him, only problem is I would have to do it while he's sleeping because it's on his key ring, and it would probaby make him mad too.
Teensy, Rain rain rain, I know it's good for growing stuff outside, but I sure am sick of it, and I bet you are too. I have no idea what it's going to do here today, you can't trust the weather people either, plus I haven't even looked to see.
Deb, hope you are feeling better. I hate it when nausia hits.
Jack-k, Sorry to hear about your dad. We are all here for you, thinking of you and praying for you and your family.
Jenn, Morning sickness does suck, just hope you are one of the lucky ones that only has it during the first trimester instead of the whole 9 months. My second one I would get sick anytime I smelled food cooking, so I had to keep my kitchen window open all the time.
Ok, now I'm off to get on the TM, and clean up the messes in the house the kids made. Talk to y'all later.
Jenn
Debelli 06-03-2003, 02:52 PM Okay, so I THOUGHT I'd have all the time this morning to get on here and catch up with all the posts:nono:
Didn't walk this morning, too pooped, so I figured, I'd climb back in bed and hit the hay to catch up on some beauty rest. The phone rings, it's my yoga teacher, she needed a favor and wanted me to type up something for her as she doesn't have a computer, of course, I said "SURE!" and about 20 minutes later she was here, and she just left. She wanted to look up some things on the computer as well and then we talked, fed her a pot pie for lunch, she wanted to find a magazine and I found it REALLY cheap for her, and she bid on an item on Ebay for herself. Anyhow, as I said, she just left and I have to run to the bank to make a deposit before the payments I sent out today bounce higher than a rubber ball.
I have that dinner tonight and I'm sure I won't be able to get on the computer before than, though I am hoping to be home by 9:00-9:30pm to see if anyone is in the chat room, but don't hold your breath for me guys, even if I do get home in time MICHAEL may be on the computer doing things for finals-next Wed. is the last day of school, it's crunch time!
Sorry, I really DID have all intentions of getting a post in after I woke up, which of course, THAT didn't get to happen either. Tomorrow, ELI is off, not sure what were going to do but I hope to get in a least a quickie if nothing else before we head out.
Oh yeah, AND, MICHAEL'S friend ALEX, he'll be staying with us for about a week or so it seems. His father called and asked me if he could since they are selling their house and the closing should be today or tomorrow I think and they're new place won't close til sometime next week. Of course, I couldn't say NO, but I did fail to mention his son won't be eating much over the next week!:s:
I did want to mention to JACKK my condolences to you and your family. I'm sorry to hear about your Dad. Our thoughts and prayers are with you!!
Gotta run
{{{HUGS}}}
Deb
Ellen 06-03-2003, 03:34 PM I am home from day two on the job. Today, I filled the cases, made cake slices, strawberry topped cheesecakes, and canoli. Filling the cases is a big job. It took me a while to do that, and I hope that it does not turn out to be a regular part of my job!
I am not as tired as I was yesterday. Today has been crazy. It all started last night, at 11pm, when my son called to tell me his roommate's car was dead. She is the asst manager of my department, and she started work at the same time I did, so I went over to pick them up at 5, which means I had to get up an hour earlier to get over there and back in time to get to work. Now she is hoping to rent a car for a few days until hers is fixed, but she is a few weeks shy of her 25th birthday, and the rental companies are a bit ugly about renting to anyone under 25. All the utilities are in my son's name, and she does not have a major credit card, so the whole business is going to be iffy. Makes me want to scream! She has an excellent job, making more than $40k a year, but can't rent a car without just about signing her life away!
Ok...nap time. I am so tired! Nightie night!
JACK: I am so sorry about your dad. You and your family are in my prayers.
jane8760 06-03-2003, 04:42 PM Hello everyone. I haven't had the chance to post in a couple of days...I have been snooping around when I can though.
I wanted to let you all know that I have put myself back on Weight Watchers. I am however still going to stick to the SGWW products as often as I can. I see no reason to go back to white bread and pasta when the WW is much healthier for me. I will probably not be as strick with the other areas all the time though.
I am planning out my menu for the week and as I was looking at the points each day I noticed that most days were still SB friendly! I guess once you learn it it stays with you!
I know that there are some people on this board that are following their points so I am hoping that I can still check in with all of you sometimes. You have all been so wonderful to me.
Jack-K: I am so sorry to hear about your father. I lost my father a few years ago so I understand what you are going through.
Well, I don't have time to catch up with everyone now. I will try another time.
Pancho 06-03-2003, 05:46 PM Hi all:
A question, and a little bit of a dilemma.
Question: I bought some Blue Bunny "No Sugar Added" fudgesicles, and I think they are pretty yummy. The label says 4 grams of sugar (but no sugar is added). Is this natural sugars in the milk possibly? It also has 2 or 3 grams of sorbitol, which I believe is a sugar alcohol? I don't eat them all the time, but they are nice to have around on a hot day, or when the rest of the family has ice cream.
Dilemma: We are going on a 2-week vacation the end of this month. We will be in Vegas for a few days, which is no problem at all; they have buffets where you can pick anything you want, so I'll be able to stay on plan there. On the road, I think I will do well. I am going to bring legal snacks, as well as tortillas and pitas to switch sandwiches to. BUT, we are going to visit my husband's family, and his mom cooks a lot of German type food. She makes meat covered in gravies and potatoes or perogies, and all the stuff is rich and fattening, and made with flours and sugars. I don't want to offend her by not eating her food and I don't want her to have to make me something different every night. What do I do to stay on plan and not have to eat that stuff (which I really don't care for anyway). I plan to go to the grocery store when we get there to buy fruits, veggies, shredded wheat, salads, etc... If we go out to eat, I'll be fine since I know how to order out now.
I weighed in at 132 today (Yippee). I was hoping to break the 130 mark prior to this trip, but I don't see it happening.
Jackie: So sorry to hear about your loss. Your dad is in a much better place now, and not in pain anymore. I will keep you and your family in my prayers. God Bless.
Kim: I am also sorry to hear about your dog; they do become part of the family, don't they? We lost 2 dogs in 2001 within 4 months of one another. It was very difficult for us, and our five year old daughter took it extremely hard. I hope your babydog is not in too much pain.
Bob: What an awesome idea to work out at work with co-workers. I'm sure it will go great!!!
Susanne: You've been doing so well. Don't beat yourself up for taking a little time off. It's when that week turns into two and then into a month or more before you get back on track. Sounds like you are back on the saddle again. Go for it!!
Monet: What a stressful night. I hope today is a better day for you!
Marie: I love peanuts too, and sometimes they are a better choice than the alternative. I always keep a few snack size bags in the car for when I really have the munchies, and I am on the border of stopping for something with no nutritional value. I guess I should throw some almonds or pecans in there instead; It hink they are a little better for you, aren't they?
Colleen: It is really good to give your body a rest from exercise every once in a while. I think taking the weekend off is a great idea. It gives you and your body time to relax and recup and then you are ready to hit it again on Monday. I usually workout on Saturday mornings, but take Monday off. I try to work out every other day or so.
Susan: OUCH!!! What a way to get sore muscles (ha). That sounds so much like something I would do (not insinuating that you are clumsy or anything...ha ha). Hope all the owies are better soon.
Well I gotta run to Wal-mart, and then take my daughter to a tumbling class this afternoon.
I hope we all have a great weigh-in Wednesday tomorrow.
Take care all!
THE BIG ORANGE BABE 06-03-2003, 06:17 PM DEB.....A QUICKIE????? Would that be a post or poor ELI????
THE BIG ORANGE BABE 06-03-2003, 06:34 PM AFTERNOON EVERY BUDDY!!
HI HO..HI HO....it's home from work I go..... WHEW!!! WHAT A DAY!!! We're being slammed from everyone who had procedures done and have now scooted back up I-75  I'm beginning to think there are no hospitals up there and that's why they come here!
Did anyone catch the new reality show on NBC last night? I'm already hooked..meant to only watch to see what the deal was, but now I'm interested and will continue...AMAZING RACE is going to be a good one this season...and then there's BIG BROTHER which is my FAVORITE...it starts in July... I'm also taping everyday
a show on Discovery Health call "I LOST IT" stories about people who have struggled and lost weight...it's on twice a day 1pm and 4pm...catch it if you can...
DEBBIE...you need to put swinging doors in at your house...you never know who's coming and who's staying! Is your newest houseguest a vegetarian like Michael???
MONET...sounds like everything is going good so far..
PANCHO...I think this exercise thing will work out just fine..it only takes 15 min to do the tape, and we're doing it first thing in the morning..
JANE...I did the points with WW and SB and it works..GOOD LUCK!
JEC...I'm going to give that DR a good talking to when I get to see him..THE NERVE!!!
SUSAN...I just can't understand why people don't think about football season...I can't believe it's almost on us again! Wonder where GATOR is....it's time to get started on her! :s:
I found a good recipe for OATMEAL PANCAKES...I'll post it for y'all.
It sounds really good...made w/cottage cheese..YUMMY
GOTTA GO..Time for my rub down, then I've got to fix supper for Kate and the FURBABY!
BOB
ldblond 06-03-2003, 07:08 PM It's already Tuesday! Lost Monday, seemed to flyby before I could catch up! Between my son and I, I had 3 Dr. appts and OT yesterday! Today, spent some time at my daughter's school, got to hot and had to rehydrate with Gatorade. I know about the sugar, but when it's over 100 degrees and your out for hours, there's no choice. I will touch base tomorrow when things slow down a little more.
Jackie: My love and heartfelt sorrow, for your loss. Your Dad is at peace now and hurting no more.
The Quilter 06-03-2003, 09:28 PM Tuesday Night---
Here's a quickie, because I have more reunion projects calling my name.
Just wanted to say thanks for all the kind words about Maddie's illness. You all are too sweet. I love that there are so many wonderful animal lovers on here.
JACKK---Just want you to know that you and your family will be in my prayers. It's tough to say good bye, but easier when you know the suffering is gone. When my good friend passed in January, one thing that brought comfort was knowing that God was smiling as he embraced Mike into his loving arms. A nice picture that got me through some of the tougher times.
JANE---I am one of the weight watchers in the bunch. I think it's a great idea to combine both programs. Just try it and see. I even started going to the meetings. At tonight's I weighed in 2.4 pounds lighter than last Tuesday. Something to kick up my heels about. But I will do an official SB weigh in tomorrow with I hope as positive results. Good luck! This board is about a journey and the support we can give to each other.
MONET----Hang in there, Babeeeee. You can do this. Sounds like you'll be running that department before you know it.
DEB---Thanks for sharing about your night . . . NOT!!!!!!! Yuck, I read that post right after my breakfast. Seriously though, sorry you had a rough night. Hope tonight's is better on you.
Gotta run, gang. Sorry to miss so many of you. GOOD LUCK TOMORROW!!!!!!!
Kim
Fillise 06-03-2003, 10:44 PM Trying to get caught up on a little work, but thought I'd stop in here first to catch up.
Eating has been good today. Went to a salad luncheon at the church. I was able to do with green salads, chicken salad, and tuna salad. No dessert and they had triscuits among the selection of crackers for everyone. When I came home I made some homemade peanut butter and had that on an apple with some cheese and some terra sweet tater chips. Wasn't hungry for anymore than than, which was plenty when you really think about it.
Kim--so sorry to hear about Maddie's illness. I'd be just devistated if Miss Belle were ill. I hope you can find something to help.
Ldblond--don't mess around with the dehydration. I've dealt with that and it is no fun! We've yet to have any extreme heat here, barely some days in the 80s--no 90s yet, but I know they and the 100s are coming. At least our humidity makes it a little easier on the body since you don't lose fluids nearly as fast as you do in the desert.
BOB--Trust me, living in Auburn Alabama, less than one mile from the university--we NEVER forget about football here! The countdowns have already started, especially with the Sporting News naming Auburn pre-season # 1 (and of course with all the recent troubles they've had with the coaches at Bama--heh heh heh). So where is Gator--we can't go through football season without her!
Pancho--the sugars from the BB fundgecicles are from the milk and are OK. There are some things that will look high in sugar content--like tomato sauce--even when there is no added sugars, but are fine! That's why we have to read those ingredient labels so carefully! But generally anything from milk and tomatoes will show more than 3 g per serving.
Jane--I think you are smart to do whatever is necessary to keep yourself on track. WW and SB can go together very well, I understand. I have even thought about going for their weigh-ins myself.
Monet--Glad to hear that the new job is going well for you--now if you could just get the kids and their cars straightened out! LOVE the Ak-Mak crackers! With cheese they are just yummy!
Deb--Try to stop in when you can, you know we miss you when you get so busy!
Jecrites--Tell hubby to stop laughing at you! Men--honestly! Glad to hear that you are back on the TM! I need to get back to it too.
Well, I'm starting to bruise tonight--it looks worse than it feels. I'll take some ibuprophen before I go to bed--don't want to end up like BOB!:s:
Sweet Dreams everyone (I think sweet dreams are SB legal!).
Susan

Jack-k---My prayers are with you right now. I lost my father 3 years ago, and it still breaks my heart. There isn't a day that goes by when I don't think of him and miss him. I am glad that your father is free from pain now. My heart is with you in this time of need. God Bless you and your family.
Monet--Yeah, day two down. Hope that you are enjoying yourself. I am sure you will be running the place soon. LOl.
Pancho-- I don't know how you will get out of that dilemma. It could be pretty tricky, trying not to offend. Can you just be honest with her and tell her that that stuff is just poison for you?? I haven't had to deal with a MIL since Dh's both passed away long before we met. Sorry I can't be more help. The sugars in the ice cream bars is from dairy.
Deb-- Sounds like a pretty rough night. Hope that you are feeling better now.
Jec-- Glad that you are back on track. It sure makes a difference. I would tell dh that you bought the hose to clean up the mess he left in your car!! LOL.
Fillise-- Hope that you aren't too skinned up. I agree, wet clothes are the pits.
Jenn-- I can see what you mean about the m/s. Praying that all is well this time, and that the M/S will not get too bad for you. Hang in therel. The names are wonderful.
Talitha-- Sorry, I just assumed there was fruit or veggies. Guess it is because that is a main stay in our family. There are always fruits or veggies. I am making a big fruit bowl for my nephew's graduation party on Saturday.
If I have missed anyone, please forgive me. I am headed to bed. Lots to do in the morning. LAUNDRY!!
The Quilter 06-04-2003, 08:03 AM WIW Report---
Hello everyone! Good luck this morning!!!
Here's my lengthy and detailed weight report. I will give you both the Weight Watchers weigh in from last night and my own official SB weigh in this morning.
Last night I weighed in at 185.8 which was 2.4 pounds less than last week at the meeting. Yippee!!!
This morning I weighed in at 186 which is two pounds less than last WIW's report. That also puts me at a new low and a new grand total of 18 pounds. Can I get an "amen" to that???? I am so excited. So close to that 20 pound mark that I can almost feel it.
I do have to say that I think the exercise is what's really helped this past week. I have not been doing anything fancy or complicated, just moving my big butt. I think those two days of 10,000 steps had to help too.
Okay, gotta get ready for work. Hope you all have GREAT days!!!!!
Kim
Talitha 06-04-2003, 08:26 AM Well it's WIW and I stayed the same again. Part of me dosn't mind, becuase I just want to eat healthy and make wise decisions to see where that takes me. But I also want to look good in that darn bridesmaid dress. I guess I need to go hard core this week. Any suggestions? I have been skipping breakfast by accident, and then eating more in the evening. I just get so darn busy in the AM!!
I am babysitting this AM and have a briefing this afternoon for this weeks Market Research. Tonight I have small group, and I'm making dinner for everyone. I'm going to make Bolivian food because it's healthy, interesting and totally OP for me :)
Kim - Congratulations!!!! A new low is awesome. I'm going to try to look at my weight that way. Even though I stayed the same, I am lighter than I have been since I got married. I just need to keep going.
Teensy - I assumed that, too! I mean, what kind of family did I marry into that doesn't eat fruit and veggies????? The only 'veggies' that trav would eat when we got married where corn, potatoes and rice!!! And we all know that those aren't veggies!!! He's changed so much. He actually walked around at that party telling anyone who would listen how great he feels ib thew SB WOE!!!!
Gotta go get the day started. Hope you all have a better WIW than me!!! :)
Solly 06-04-2003, 09:23 AM Just a quick WIW report
Back down to 153 only 1 more pound to get back to my low. Course I haven't been eating much this week. Hope it holds.
Back back on Monday. Have a great week and weekend.
Jackie
jane8760 06-04-2003, 09:35 AM My Weight Watchers weigh in day is on Friday but I weighed myself today for our WIW.....things are looking good this week. I was up to an all time high on Monday of 174! I am now down to 171 as of this morning and TOM is on the way! Not bad!
I have been over my points for the last two days but just by one point so that isn't too bad. Today I didn't bring any starchy snacks...just carrots, celery, salsa, apple and some 1% cottage cheese. I know I will be killing for some salty snacks later but I will try and just drink my water and get past it.
I am having a tossed salad with reduced fat feta cheese on it for lunch and I was going to have some bottled greek dressing! YIKES:fr: The points were something like 7!!!! I quickly grabbed the lite italian I have in the fridge and put a dash of the greek in it so that it would be a little like greek. That should do it and bring it down to 2 points too! Phew.....
I have my 1/2 SGWW pita to go with my salad.
Tonight we are having pasta and meatballs. I love these meatballs that I buy at this little italian market near us. They are so good. I will have WW pasta so I think I should be ok today. It is so funny again that I thought I was giving up SB and here it is another day and I am still living LEGAL! :D
I will catch up with all of you later today. Have a great WIW.
Rosalie 06-04-2003, 10:15 AM Good Morning All
Just a quick check-in for WIW. I am down 1.5 pounds this week to 195.5. Thats a total of 5 pounds in one month. I can't believe I am actually losing after all this time. I've been staying mainly op - well at least six days a week. Had a few little goodies yesterday at a tea party we had after the last line dancing class. I'm still doing FitDay and making sure I am keeping up my calories but eating almost no bread, rice, pasta but getting in lots of other carbs, including sweet potato, lentils, fruit and veggies.
Jack-K - So sorry to hear about your Dad but at least you know he is not suffering anymore. My thoughts are with you.
Fillise - Hope you are not feeling too sore from the fall.
Pancho - I checked out the nutritional content of some nuts on FitDay and there is really not much difference between peanuts and almonds, although pecans have a slightly higher fat content but less carbs and protein. I think any of them are a good choice for snacking, in moderation of course.:).
Kim - Congratulations on your new low. Only 2 more to go to reach the 20 pound landmark.
Talitha - It really is important that you eat something at breakfast time. Apart from preventing hunger pangs it gets your metabolism going. I'm finding that if I eat well during the day - including a good breakfast - I am less likely to need to snack in the evening.
Well have to get going. Sorry I can't respond to you all. I was given some plants yesterday so have to get out in the garden and get them in the ground.
Have a good day everyone.
Marie.
Ellen 06-04-2003, 11:23 AM Morning! I did not participate in WIW this morning. My scale has been off due to the humidity and rain, and I had already eaten by the time I thought to step on the scale. Next week....
Yesterday, I was better in what I had to eat. I skipped dinner essentially though. I did have a cup of yogurt, but did not cook anything. We just were not hungry after nibbling on a bit of cheese and Ak Mak crackers.
I am home alone today, and enjoying the peace and quiet. Laura is off with a friend for most of the day. They are planning a birthday party for both of them. Their birthdays are just a couple days apart. I am wondering what they are cooking up, and where they are having it, since no one asked me! I can see it now...50 teenagers will show up and I never suspected a thing! :)
My big plans for the day are to take a nap! I may take two naps! I am feeling really tired, and I think I am behind on sleep, after the past two days. In fact, I think I will take a nap now, since I am having a hard time keeping my eyes open. I will check in later!
Fillise 06-04-2003, 11:32 AM It is cloudy and overcast here this morning-but should be sunny by the afternoon.
Miss Belle is unusually cuddly this am. I hope she lets me get this post in! :^:
For breakfast this am I had two soft boiled eggs and a slice of WW bread. I set the bread machine last night so that the bread would be ready when my alarm clock went off this morning. I made the bread with Monet's Wheat Montana and boy is it good! it has the best consistency ever. I cut the loaf in half (it is huge) and froze one half in slices.
Marie--I'm sorer today than I was yesterday, but thankfully the "raw" skin on my knees and elbows is beginning to heal over. Neosporin is wonderful stuff. Thanks for asking. WTG on 5 lbs this week--that's great!!!!!
Jane--funny that you are still SBing on WW! And it looks like it is paying off too! I can't see myself ever going back to white starches on a regular basis.
Jackie--We will look forward to having you back on Monday. God be with you this week.
Talitha--I'm in agreement with Marie on the importance of breakfast--especially breakfast with some protein in it. Make the time if you can even if it is nothing more that a SF yogurt. Having protein in my system in the morning keeps me from getting hungry for the rest of the morning.
Kim--AMEN! :D You'll hit that 20 lb mark before you know it!
Teensy--Your totals from yesterday look great to me! WTG!
Time to get to work. I got a call from the college and they told me I was going to get an official job offer sometime this week. Now I have to decide if I want to go back to teaching full time. It will be a tough decision.
Have a great OP day everyone!
Susan
Fillise 06-04-2003, 11:39 AM Monet--We were posting at the same time! I hope you enjoy your day off and you get lots of rest. I think I will definately have to be making regular trips to Harry's for the Wheat Montana!
Pancho 06-04-2003, 12:20 PM I haven't had a chance to read any posts yet today, but wanted to jump on with my weigh-in Wednesday weight. I was at 131.5 this morning.
I also went to the gym, so I'll post that on the other board.
Hope you are all having a great day!
I'll check in later.
jane8760 06-04-2003, 12:42 PM WOW 131!!! I would give my eye teeth for that weight! Great job. What are you trying to get down to?
Pancho 06-04-2003, 12:54 PM Another quickie question: I've read on here before mention of some type of legal pot-pie that can be purchased at Trader Joes (I think). Anyone know what I am talking about? It would be nice to have something to pop in the oven/microwave when I don't feel like cooking.
Thanks!!!
Ellen 06-04-2003, 12:56 PM I took a nap. It did not last long until the phone started to ring. No one ever calls me until I try to nap! I think that must be one of Murphy's Laws...right after the one about a dropped piece of toast always lands butter side down.
The sky has cleared, and it is pretty and sunny now. I should get out and spray the roses, but I am supposed to teach Laura how to do that, so I am going to wait until she gets home. I have a pot pie in the oven for lunch, and just made a pot of Amaretto Royal coffee to drink. Next I am going to find a book to read. I love Mono days like this! :)
FILLISE: I am so glad you like the Wheat Montana...it gives validity to my praise of it! You know you are welcome to make a supply run whenever you like. Just let me know when, so I can do a reconnisence mission to Harry's to make sure they have it in! I am so afraid of them running out again! They did about a year ago, and did not get more in for months! I think I heard that the wheat crop was bad, or something.
QUILTER: Way to go on the loss! You are doing great! I was sorry to read about the health problems your sweet Maddie is having. I hope they can do something for her. I still have not gotten on the treadmill. I am hoping that I can work my way into in after getting used to being on my feet for 5 hours every morning. I am allowing myself this week, and maybe next week before I start coming home and putting in some time on the TM. Do you think that sounds reasonable? I thought I would start out with 15 minutes, and increase it up to my usual 30 after a few weeks.
TEENSY: I was excited to read you have lost nine pounds since starting SB! Guess I had not been keeping up with that. I was feeling bad after Gracious left, and went back to LCC...I was afraid you would not see results, and leave too! Don't you love Costco? I sure do! I think their frozen broccoli is the best I have every found! I went last week, and spent almost $200..I had not been in a long time and was out of everything!
ROSALIE: Hey, don't question the whys, just take the loss! :) Congrats! I can't imagine why you should not lose, you are always on the go doing something active, and fun!
JANE: I am glad you are seeing some progress. Maybe the combining of WW and SB is just what you need to keep your portions controlled.
TALITHA: I agree with the others that mentioned that breakfast is important. It would be better to eat a hearty breakfast and skip dinner. If I don't eat breakfast, my whole day gets messed up, and I tend to eat too much. A big breakfast, and I seem more in control and eat less the rest of the day. Give that sweet little Selah a hug from me!
I think I will go make a batch of bread. Fillise got me thinking about the fact I only have half a loaf left. I will probably be back later! :)
Ellen 06-04-2003, 01:00 PM PANCHO: The pot pies are Sheltons Whole Wheat crust pot pies. I get them at the health food store. Make sure you get the ones with whole wheat, as they have a unbleached crust one too. They make chicken and turkey. Both are good, but I like the chicken ones better, as does Deb. They are not microwaveable, but easy enough...you bake them for 1 hour at 400 degrees. Hope you can find some!
cherylco 06-04-2003, 02:03 PM jecrites
Is your kitty a bengal?
I hate when dh takes my car! I hate crap in my car and keep it clean. When dh takes it there's beer cans, soda cans, empty cigarette packs, drives me nuts!
BOB great joke!
Jack-K
I'm so sorry about your dad. I lost mine 10 years ago to a brain tumor. Still miss him.
Wow great losses weight loss week!
I keep bouncing between 203-206 it's very annoying! I thinks I need to cut back my carbs to a serving a day for a while. I also started working out so hopefully it's muscle building up because my pants are looser
jecrites 06-04-2003, 02:06 PM Hello everyone. I don't have much time right now, I'm headed out the door to pick up a birthday card for a friend's daughter. I just wanted to let you all know what I found out when I stepped on the scales. I'm down to 190.5 from an all time high of 223! I was shocked when I saw that.
Gotta go, but I'll be back later on to check on things and reply to everyone. Talk to y'all later.
Jenn
P.S. Cherylco, I have no idea what that kitty is. I just thought it was cute so I used it. My kitty here at home is solid white with green eyes, and he bites when he's not in the mood to be messed with. His name is Scooby-Doo.
Tranquil 06-04-2003, 02:20 PM Hi All:
Had the greatest visit with Deb the other weekend, shopped till I dropped, and had such a wonderful time - Did NOT want to go home!!!!!! Then this past weekend I went to New Smyrna Beach with Serene and had a lovely visit with Melf and her DH and Grandson - we played at the beach/pool and she cooked a devine meal.... I wish I could head on back to Miami and see Deb and her gang...do a lot of shopping, then visit with Melf again! Shame we all live so far away from each other...
Weigh in Wednesday was blahhhh, I weigh 262.5....I really want it to be a lot lower, but patience is the key I guess.....TOM is a few days away now too - so maybe it will be lower soon....
I got the house reappraised and I am very excited!!!!!!! I am refinancing this month at a terrific rate, and I will be having some construction work done on the den/downstairs bathroom - tile and sheetrock work....going to look wonderful!!!!!!
Got to go now, my office roommate is having problems and I need to get away from it - she is throwing a fit and it is pretty loud!
AHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!
Sabrina

jane8760 06-04-2003, 03:38 PM ok I am crackin up here......I was on the Weight Watchers board today and every time I see the letters WW all I can think of is whole wheat......(instead of Weight Watchers)....so I read this post and it says "WW Scale - who sells them" and I think ..now why in the world would you want a whole wheat scale?
jane8760 06-04-2003, 03:43 PM ok I'm still crackin up here!!!!!!
You know you have been on too many diets when?
jecrites 06-04-2003, 03:56 PM I have a headache thanks to my oldest child; she just had to spray some stinky perfume on herself, and it's really doing a number on my head.
Here's some replies.
Monet, I totally agree with you on the phone only ringing when you take a nap. No one ever calls me anyway, but as soon as I think I'm going to get in a nap the phone goes nuts.
Teensy, I didn't think about that, wish I would have though. I had to laugh cause I could just see myself out there spraying the trash and coffee cups and mess out of my car.
Jane, I'm so happy for you! Way to go with the WW points to keep you in control. I have to crack up at the WW thing too. It takes me a few minutes to figure out if they are saying whole wheat or weight watchers.
Rosalie, Woohoo, down 1.5 lbs.! Way to go, keep up the good work.
Cherylco, I know the feeling of having everything but the kitchen sink in the car. My hubby leaves everything in there, so if he was to cheat on me in my own car at that, I would definately know it. It's bad when you can't get in the car without having crap fall to the ground, and having to shove the trash over. I saw this one car, a very small car at that, at Wal-Mart one time, and I swear the only place that wasn't piled to the celing with trash was the drivers seat.
Ok, now I'm off to get rid of this headache, I took some Motrin and now I think I may just lay down for a bit. Talk to y'all later.
Jenn
cathlaur 06-04-2003, 05:34 PM I am doing well except I will be going over in my starchy carbs. I had oatmeal then a piece of no sugar no fat bread. It is awesome a local bakery makes. Hubby was going to make chicken for dinner but I found out he made lasagna drats. Now he uses whole wheat noodles( god I love that man) I have done tons of exercise so I am not going to fret about it. I mean this is for life right. It just seems weird after Atkins to eat carbs like fruit and WW. I still keep panicking thinking I need to do Atkins again. But so far I have stopped myself. I want to give myself some time. I may try to do 2 days a week no starchy carbs but eat fruit. What do you all think about that.
I am kind of not intimidated but you all seem to know each other so well. Hopefully I will catch up with you all soon
Take care
katie
THE BIG ORANGE BABE 06-04-2003, 06:32 PM John and Marie went to the same Baptist church. Marie went every Sunday
and taught Sunday School. John went on Christmas and Easter and, once in
a while, he went on one of the other Sundays. On one of those Sundays,
he was in the pew right behind Marie and he noticed what a fine looking
woman she was.
While they were taking up the collection, John leaned forward and said,
"Hey, Marie, how about you and me go to dinner next Friday?"
"Why Yes, John, that would be nice," said Marie.
John couldn't believe his luck. All week long he polished up his car,
and on Friday he picked up Marie and took her to dinner, the finest
restaurant in Raleigh. When they sat down, John looked over at Marie
said, "Hey, Marie, would you like a cocktail before dinner?"
"Oh, no, John,"said Marie. "What would I tell my Sunday School class?"
John was setback a bit, so he didn't say much until after dinner Then he
reached in his pocket and pulled out a pack of cigarettes.
"Hey, Marie," said John, "Would you like a smoke?"
"Oh, no, John," said Marie. "What would I tell my Sunday School class?"
Well, John was feeling pretty low after that, so he just got in his car
and was driving Marie home when they passed the Holiday Inn.
He'd struck out twice already, so he figured he had nothing to lose.
"Hey, Marie," said John, "how would you like to stop at this motel with
me?"
"Sure, John, that would be nice," said Marie.
Well, John couldn't believe his luck. He did a U-turn right then and
there across the median and everything, and drove back to the motel and
checked in with Marie. The next morning John got up first.
He looked at Marie lying there in the bed. "What have I done? What have
I done?" thought John.
He shook Marie and she woke up. "Marie, I've got to ask you one thing,
said John. "What are you going to tell your Sunday School class?"
Marie said, "The same thing I always tell them...You don't have to smoke
and drink to have a good time."

THE BIG ORANGE BABE 06-04-2003, 07:08 PM EVENING EVERY BUDDY!!
Is it just me, or are the days getting so long that it feels like you've been at work double the time?
WIW: I'm down another 2lbs....that's a total of 10lbs since I got my misery :dizzy: I know SUSAN says it's not good for me to not eat supper, but when I get home and take my drugs , I'm just not hungry and get to drinking my water and I'm full to the gills! OH WELL...WHATEVER WORKS!!!
As for cluttered cars...My Brother says that I could live in my car with all the junk that's in there..it just blows his mind that I can let it get in this condition...
SUSAN...what did you and BELLE do today? I've thought about you every day this week at lunch...I've had the best MATERS
that I picked up at the veggie stand on Saturday...Can't wait for those ALABAMA and TENNESSEE crops get down this way..usually don't get them until about 4th of July..
I'm going to try and email GATOR and see what she's up to...I'm sure she's busy..that woman is involved in a lot of things!
JANE..How's that point counting going?
Have any of you gotten the chance to read the new book SOUTH BEACH DIET? If not, see if you can get it at your local library..It's
so easy to read, and the Cardiologist that wrote it really knows his business..THe first two weeks are kinda like ATKINS induction.
He stands his ground on low fat cheeses and LAND O LAKES GOURMET HALF N HALF...The following recipe is from the book:

Pancho 06-04-2003, 08:13 PM Just wanted to jump on when I had a minute.
I just cancelled my contract with my current gym (Lady of America). The childcare is out of control, especially since it is summertime. My 10-month old doesn't do well when she is surrounded by 20 other kids. They have had up to 30 kids in there lately and only 2 adults. I don't think so. I am also almost certain that they are breaking some type of fire code. The room is very small and crowded. I am going to join Naturally Women. They just opened a new one not too far from me, and it is really, really nice, big and clean. You do have to pay $2 per kid per hour, but it is a 7-1 ratio. They have 1 adult per 7 children. I feel much better about that. Plus they have daycare almost the entire day -vs- just a few hours a day like the other gym did. They also have a few different locations and I can go to whichever one I want. Yea!!!
Jane: My original goal weight was 130. I am a little over 5'4". I weighed 124 when I met my husband over 10 years ago, and never thought that weight was attainable, but I am starting to think it may be. I am going to shoot for 130, and then probably 125. If I can get to 125 then I will just maintain this way for life. I feel so good. When I started all this diet/exercise stuff the end of February I weighed 152. I had a baby last year in July, and the weight was just sitting on me.
Monet: THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR THE POT PIE INFO. I am very anxious to try them. I like pot pies, but didn't think we could have them. I will make sure to get the ww one. I prefer chicken to turkey anyway, so I will pick up a few of the chicken ones. Are they high in fat and calories?
Katie: I am so much understanding where you are coming from. I did Atkins 2 months before I switched to SB. I ate some 77% cocoa yesterday, a handful of my daughter's McDonald's FF, and even had a little bit of whole grain pasta with "no sugar" marinara sauce. I knew I'd weigh in at least a pound or two heavier this morning. But, I was down a half pound. My body seems to do so much better on SB than on Atkins. I didn't think Atkins was healthy for the long haul. I even ate some cherries and strawberries yesterday. I am a happy gal!!
HAS ANYONE TRIED CHEF'S CHOICE FROZEN DINNERS? I read on an old Atkins board that they only have 12 grams carbs therefore are legal for Atkins. I have no idea what the ingredients are, so I don't know if they are SB legal or not. I guess they carry them at Super Wal-mart, so I'll have to check them out. I tried the pizza from Wild Oats that Deb mentioned on an earlier post and it was delicious! I got the one with chicken and artichokes. I also have a salmon one in the freezer. Any other ideas on frozen quick-fixes for those nights I just don't want to cook?
Thanks guys!!! Have a great evening.
cathlaur 06-04-2003, 08:33 PM Thanks a ton for all the warm welcomes. It means alot.
I am stuffed. I know I ate to much starch today but that was it. Tomorrow will be better. I am having oatmeal for breaky, chicken salad for lunch and not sure what dinner will be. I am having to pieces of fruit for snacks. Can anyone please tell me about coffee. Do you use milk. I have been using light cream. 5% is what it is at.
Pancho wow thanks for sharing with me. I feel so guilty about some of my carbs. I dont think I have gained but as I said before I only weigh once a month at Curves. I think this is an easier WOE for life as you are not deprived. I mean I was starving for fruit. I just did not think that was natural. It is great to have the odd starchy carb to. I know this is the WOE for me. I just have to get my head around it. I am sure once I start to lose weight I will feel better.
Big Orange Babe those pancakes look delicious. I am going to try them. Thanks. SO do you eat low fat everything. I am learning still and yes I read the book. It is hard to change over after Atkins.
Okay I am off to learn some more. I am really looking forward to this new way of eating. I hope it is something I can do for life
Katie
ldblond 06-04-2003, 09:09 PM WIW gain of almost 3 lbs. . Instead of the cause for hysteria, it was an occasion for my DH to step in and give me support. We went to Cosco and bought the foods to eat to stay 100% on plan. I keep trying to remind myself of what it fell like to be in a bikini, to wear a size 10 and have them be to big. It seems like such a long time ago. It really only was a year or so. I'm just not trying! Two weeks, and gotta get two weeks. Now, I have the food. The bad stuff is gone and my DH is showing support.
Congratulations on some fabulous losses. For all of us who are maintaining or gaining, way to go on knowing that this woe is the way to improve their eating for life.
By the way did anybody have a hard time getting on on the board or changing from page to page. I kept having to go out and comeback in in order to get to the next page. I still can't get to page five. So I'm posting my reply from page four. Hope it works.
Have a good night!
Grin + Share it 06-04-2003, 11:08 PM Drat I forgot WIW...:dizzy: :dizzy: This has been such a busy time with the cancer Relay for Life. My team raised $8827.89 for the Cancer Society. Last year we raised $3535. so we are thrilled. It was a busy but really long day. I did a speech for the opening ceremony. Next was a interview for the local paper. This being a "cancer poster child" is getting to be too much for me. I used to be really private about my cancer and now strangers approach me and ask me how my last biopsy went...:yikes: So I'm going to keep a low profile for awhile...
I'm proud to say I've been on the new treadmill 3 days in a row. I love it. You can turn up the tunes, work out in old shorts and a ancient t-shirt and if someone rings the doorbell I probably won't hear it:lol:
On a sadder note my heart aches for Jackie... so sorry about your dad's death. I truly believe that as we cry tears of sadness for our loss, the angels in heaven are weeping tears of joy for the return of their beloved brother:grouphug: hugs from all of us.
My prayers continue to go out for all SB's that have illness.
Welcome also to the newbies!!! This is a wonderful WOE and a great group of folks... Lori
Talitha 06-05-2003, 12:23 AM I think I did alright today, but I usually eat more veggies. This may be the most meat that I have had in awhile, but I was craving it. This is what I ate:
B: 1/2 c Weatena
S: 1 rye crisp with 1T cream cheese LF
L: 1/2 black bean soup
1 hamburger w/ mustard, no bread
small side salad with balsamic vinegar
S: 4 strawberries
D :1 hamburger w/ WW bun
1 turkey dog
1/2 c saurkraut
1/2 c green beans
S: 4 more strawberries in balsamic vinegar
1/2 c NSA ice cream vanilla
WATER 128 oz
Can someone tell me if this is ok? I was entering it into my fitday journal, and the website went down. they must be working on it. anyway, i know the calories were 886 before the icecream, and that my carbs were 46% i knew i should not have had the bun on my burger at dinner. i will post my menu tomorrow, because it will be a more normal day. today was really weird the way i ate, so i don't know why i'm bothering.
Does anyone eat Fiber One? It lists aspertame, but has 14g of fiber. what do you think? would that be legal? I usually stick to shredded wheat,b tu that has more fiber and i thought it might be good for a change.
YEah, sharing cars can stink. Trav and I have been sharing a car since Feb, and it is really a pain. Especially since we are still paying $350 a month for the Passatt because the engine is blown. WE need to save $5000 for a new engine. It's a pretty bleak situation, but we are handling it alright.
I ate breakfast today. Are you all proud of me? It's just a habit since I was a kid not to eat breakfast, and it's going to be hard to break. You may also notice that I made it through small group without eating any bad stuff, except the NSA ice cream. i was dying, so i at least went for more healthy. i am very proud of myself.
Debbie - I didn't know about the list, but would love to be on it!!
BOB - Do you relize how crazy you are? your jokes have been cracking me up all day. Travis thinks i'm nuts ofr laughing out loud at the computer. THanks for the laugh!!
Katie - I know how you feel. I still get a little intimidated, but i just barge in. I'm still working on it, too and i still don't feel like i know everyone
Monet - can we have lunch sometime? i would love to meet you and glean some of your wisdom :)
i have to get up early to drop Selah off at mom-in-law's house so i can work all day.
until tomorrow.....
Teensybean 06-05-2003, 02:06 AM WIW--Woo Hoo, I am down 2 more pounds this week!! Love this WOE. That is a total of 11 pounds since starting in March. 8 more to go until first goal.
On a sadder note, yesterday when I was in town I stopped at one of our HFS. She didn't have any idea what Agave Nectar was! So I guess I will have to brave it and go to the big one in the mall. I can get so lost in there, that I try to avoid it. Will look for the pot pies too.
Quilter-- Way to go girl! You are so close to that 20 pound mark that I am sure you will be there faster than you realize. Yippee for you!!
Talitha-- Hang in there. I think when I first switched from PP to SB it took me a good 3 or 4 week before I showed a loss. It will happen. Staying the same is so much better than gaining!! Have fun with your guests tonight. My dh is trying to stick with this, but his sweet tooth gets him in trouble. (Poor guy is just not too dedicated! Congrats to yours for sticking with it!!
Jack-k-- You are almost there!! Probably be down to an all time low when you get back. Probably not much of an appitite huh?
Jane--Wooo Hooo!! You are doing it!! Sounds like you got it tweaked to fit you now! Keep up the great job you are doing.
Rosalie-- AWESOME. Five pounds in one months is great. I forget about lentils and beans. I need to add a little variety now and then. Will have to remember them.
Monet-- Have a good nippy nap. (that is what I call it for my dogs). Hope you get caught up on some sleep. I have now lost a total of 11 pounds! Yeah for SB!! No I will not go back to low carb, this woe is too doable. I really missed having fruits. I will never go back to eating pre PP. Too many health benefits to this woe!!
Fillise-- Give Miss Belle a cuddle from me too. We have a stray kitten that showed up last week. We bought some kitten chow, and are now feeding it, and trying to get close to it. If we keep it I would like to be able to get it into the vet atleast. So far it isn't looking too good in that direction. LOL.
Cathlaur--I switched from Protein Power because I was stalled for 6 months after losing 81 pounds. Since starting SB in March, I am down another 11 pounds. Please give your body at least a month to get used to this. I think you will find that it is worth it. I try very hard to only have one or two starchy carbs, once in awhile I have blown it though.
Congrats to all you losers! And hang in there to all who didn't lose this week, next week the WHOOSH FAIRY will be paying you a visit!! :dizzy:
Arcayne 06-05-2003, 02:49 AM Well, I did weigh in yesterday and I lost three more lbs, for a total of 18 since i started SB four weeks ago. I'm psyched, even though I was hoping to break 20 this week. I can't seem to make myself exercise. I know I should, I have the tape out, but i don't do it. :;sigh::. I'm working on it
JACK: I lost my dad last year. I am very sorry for your pain right now.
KATIE: I felt kind of shy too, but I just jumped in and trusted that everyone would like me. And, if they don't, they sure fake it well!! LOL.
I have literally eaten all my groceries. All the fruit, all the cheese, all the nuts and veggie, all the meat. Not all tonight:) Tommorow, I'm going to stock up and look for those potpies!! My only question is... aren't there potatoes in most potpies? Are they okay?
Hugs to all!!!
cathlaur 06-05-2003, 08:05 AM Well I decided to listen and jump right in:dizzy: . I am at work for 6 am. I know early but I am trying to work alot of overtime right now. I am having knee surgery in July and I have banked enough hours to be paid 100% plus have an extra 30 hours on my pay check. WOW I love my job. It is another rainy day here in Southern Ontario. My gardens look awesome though the grass needs some cutting.
I have my food for today and am ready to go. I am heading to Curves for lunch so that should help. I am really hoping to be able to stick with this woe. I will remember what teensybean said that it can take a month for my body to get used to this. I have made my Ultimate Goal of June 1st 2004 to be where I want so I will certainly give it time.
Arcayne I am glad that I am not the only one a little intimidated , but I am not really a shy person so I will just start chatting.
Hi Talitha. I guess it will take us a while to get to know everyone.
Grin and Share it. I think that you posted to me before. What kind of cancer did you have. I am a Thyroid Cancer patient or was:D though I did not have to do anything other than have surgery and take medication for life. Cancer can be scary. Congrats on being so out there with your story. My good friend and co-worker is going through Breast Cancer right now. Very scary. Take care of yourself. But it looks like you are already doing that.
Idblond. That is a great attitude you have with your weight. We are doing this for life. That is so wonderful that your hubby is so supportive. So is mine thankgoodness.
Okay I am off for now. I am going to enjoy my coffee.
Katie
The Quilter 06-05-2003, 09:19 AM Thursday Morning----
Oh geesh, I'm running behind, but wanted to say one thing before I take off.
I AM SO PROUD THAT WE MADE IT TO PAGE 2 OF THE EXERCISE BOARD!!!!!
BOB---Maddie is doing about the same I guess. I started her on the B-12 pills and some Vitamin C. Doctor also said to keep walking her and also to exercise her back legs while she's laying down. She doesn't understand what the heck I'm doing when I keep bending her knee back and forth. She looks at me thinking, "Mommy has gone around the bend this time."
Okay, have a great day you all!!!
Kim
Debelli 06-05-2003, 10:04 AM Good Thursday Morning Everyone:wave:
Have you ever thought there's a conspiracy against you? That's the way I'm feeling about being able to go exercise AND get in a post on this board!
Was all dressed and ready to go for a walk when I got home from taking the kids today, but no:nono: that didn't happen. On the way to school MICHAEL was having a kanipshen that he couldn't find his tape for his documentary to show at a student film festival after school today. That and him being tired is NOT nice, he gets VERY nasty. Anyhow, I get home and start a search. Of course, I find it. ELI took it over to the school and hopefully they will get it to him and in a timely matter. THEN, I got a phone call from one of MICHAEL'S friends Mother and she kept me on the phone a good 20-25 minutes. Just got off the phone with my mother asking me to come over and help her with this new computer, seems she's getting corrupted messages on it and it's brand new!:fr: I'm computer stupid and I don't know why she thinks I can help her. I told her to call tech support but she wants me to do it since she THINKS I can understand what they are saying. I have to say, she has a short memory and doesn't remember when I wiped out her computer as well as mine - TWICE!:fr: So, here it is, 9am, no walking and not much of a post except what I can in explainig why once again I can't post as I had intended. I have to jump in the shower and go over to her house. I didn't even get in a walk yesterday and I once again was all ready to go-I blame that one on ELI and him beckoning me back to bed. It's a rarity these days so I jumped at the chance. He didn't have to twist my arm to much:s: I'm still feeling pooped and maybe this is a blessing in disguise to let my body rest. Also, I won't be going to the ministry to volunteer today either-they must think I up and died on them!
Okay, so, tomorrow, hmmm, at this moment, I have absolutely NOTHING planned! NOTHING, ZILCH, NADA! Let's hope nothing pops up in the next 24 hours though. If not, you'll be seeing a post from me-keep your fingers crossed:crossed:
Just a quickie that my eating has been 100% and other than being tired I feel great!:D I haven't met the water challenge though, which is probably one if not THEE reason I'm so tired.
GOTTA RUN!
{{{HUGS}}}:grouphug:
Deb
Tranquil 06-05-2003, 10:59 AM Just a quickie:
JACK-K!!!! {{{HUGS}}} I am so sorry for your loss, and I just want you to know that you and yours are in my thoughts and prayers!!!!! Take care of yourself!!!!!!
BOB - Congrats on the loss, even if it is through a difficult way!!!! At least your suffering is allowing you some positiveness - you are happy about the loss!!! Tell me about the driving - and AAA - the next trip is to NYC with Zach - a nice road trip for July 4th....
Well good news, I lost another half pound - today I am 262 even! So, I really contribute my new success to exercise, and Fiber One Cereal, Berries and No Sugar Added Soy Milk for breakfast (or an omelet made of eggbeaters and slice of bacon) and salad with smoked turkey or other cold cuts for lunch, then dinner has been veggies or veggies and protein or even better yet a ww pita bread made into a pizza! But exercise is my biggest key to starting to feel better.....
Got to get back to work - by the way got to get computer at home fixed - it won't let me post - can only post from work - reason for slow answers and absence!!!!
Sabrina
Fillise 06-05-2003, 11:04 AM Morning all!
I only have time for a quick post this am--will try to do a longer one when I get into the office later.
Yesterday was good eating wise. I went out to lunch and had a piece of baked salmon with steamed veggies--yum. Then a steak and baby artichokes for supper. Add to that some grapes (didn't weigh, didn't count) a BB yogurt, and two soft boiled eggs with 1 slice of WW bread. Yesterday afternoon I really, really wanted something evil--something sweet. I went to the grocery store and bought grapes and they satisfied my urge. Grapes are like candy for me now!
I'll do individual relpies later--but until then, be good everyone!
Susan
BOBatwork 06-05-2003, 11:23 AM KATIE,
My eating has been so off for so long that I'm starting again..the weight loss that I've accomplished recently is from pure stress and pain...
What I like about this SOUTH BEACH DIET...it gives you an Atkins "like" two week induction but uses lower fat foods..then you move on into phase two which is like SB so that won't be a problem at all..See if you can get the book from your library..I really think you'll like it
BOB
CountryMom4Him 06-05-2003, 12:06 PM Good morning everybody!!! (((hugzz))) I am soooo far behind this week. I've joined a new ladies group and it is keeping me so busy. Along with remodeling the bathroom. It's amazing how a two day project is turning into a week. I PROMISE that next week I will jump back in on Monday and not allow myself to get behind. Once that happens I just can't seem to catch up.
Eating has been bad. Another reason I have been playing hookie I'm sure. Started back with the treadmill last night. The last two weeks I've let chores and other type of work get me distracted. I was up a bit but those extra pounds are finally gone again. So WIW for me was 149. I need to get back on track...I had so wanted to be at goal wayyyyyyy before now. Oh, well my fault for getting lazy.
(((Jack-K))) praying for you and your family. I am so sorry for your loss.
Congratulations to all this weeks losers...I see there are many of you. And congrats to those who are keeping on keeping on...be proud of the committment..the weight will soon follow.
Time to get.....There is painting and laundry waiting on me.
Love and hugs,
Crystle

jecrites 06-05-2003, 01:38 PM Hello everyone. Today is going to be one of those days where my fingers override my brain. I keep having to hit backspace to correct myself.
Why oh why do kids insist on doing things they know will get them in trouble? Just while ago, all 3 of them were on their bikes and down the street, not on the sidewalk either, they were in the middle of the street. They know they aren't allowed in the street on foot or bike. And now, Autumn, the 4 yr. old, just got in trouble for opening packets of Equal and dumping them on the floor. I would love to have just one day of peace here in the house. I don't think I'm going to get it though.
Eating this week so far has been ok, although I forget to have breakfast until late, but better late than never.
Ok, here are some replies, and then I have to vaccuum the dang floor, again.
BOB, Congrats on the whole 10 lbs. gone! The head is fine now, I'm gonna have to watch that kid around perfume counters from now on though. Whew, that was a mess!
Pancho, Oh my gosh, only 2 adults to 30 kids. That's not legal anywhere. The new place sounds more legal. Even regular day cares make sure there's only 7 or 8 kids per adult. I wish all I weighed after having a baby was 152. I'm about the same height as you. I think I would look funny at 130 though, (extrememly big boobs that just won't shrink down any).
Teensy, Congrats on the 2 lbs! I would give just about anything to go to a mall right now. The closest one to us is at least an hour away, and I'm not about to take these 3 kids by myself and go and hubby sure won't go because he hates shopping. I guess that's life in a crappy small town. I hate it though.
Arc, Congrats on the 3 lbs.! 18 lbs. is nothing to sniff at either. That's great. You aren't the only one who doesn't exercise they way they should, I totally stink in that area. I've never liked to do it, even in school when I had to take P.E. I just have to push myself, and sometimes I don't push hard enough.
Deb, I'm always thinking there's something out to get me, (it's my kids and hubby, I'll swear it is). I can't make any plans to do anything because they always end up getting changed, and when I think I'm going to get a day where I don't have to do anything, something else comes up.
Ok, I'm off to get to work on this house again, doesn't that count as exercise? My "laundry room" is down in the basement and I get a workout in going up and down those steep stairs, not to mention pushing that vaccuum.
Talk to y'all later.
Jenn
Fillise 06-05-2003, 02:19 PM Hello all, I promised I'd try to get back for replies, so here goes:
Jecrites--how you keep up with those girls is beyond me! They sound like lots of fun if you are their Aunt and not their mom. As Auntu Susu, I have to admit I'd probably have been in the floor with the four-year-old saying "Let 's see how big a mountain of Equal we can make!" :s: Which would explain why my SIL would make me do time outs too! :D
Crystle--hope things settle down for you soon. We miss you!
BOB--I haven't read the book, but I saw the article on the South beach diet in Prevention a couple of months ago. It looked at lot like Atkins meets Sugar Busters! At least you can still say you are doing SB! :D
Sabrina--Congrats on the 1/2 lb lost!
Deb--Slow down girl, you are going to wear yourself out!
Kim--It's a wonder they don't have a physical therapist for Maddie--but I guess that's you!
Cathlaur--What kind of knee surgery are you having? I had surgery to repair some torn cartalege a couple of years ago. No fun, but my knee sure is better (not perfect, but better). Good Luck!
Arc--Way to Go girlfriend!!!!!! 18 lbs is awesome. I had one of those pot pies and if there were any taters in them they were so small you wouldn't notice.
Teensy--Miss Belle appreciated your cuddle. When I go out of town she is a tad more cuddly than normal when I get back. We have strays cats all over Auburn (students turn them loose when they leave town), I have two in my yard that were kittens last year. I just heard about a program the vet school has where they will trap strays, spay or netuer them, and then turn them loose again. I need to call out there--otherwise I'll have more kittens out there soon. I hope you can make friends with yours!
Monet--are you working this morning?
oops--gotta get back to work.
have a good OP day everyone!
