Good morning.

Mima - Whatever you do, DO NOT over extend your arm when staining or painting the doors. I have done that and ended up with pain that I had to go to a massage therapist for to get it worked out of the shoulder area. Have fun at Walmart!

Meme - Got the important thing hooked up again :lol Little by little you will get it all done. I hope that something can be done your foot beside surgery. Did you try the cast?

Joanne - People are funny. I know when we built our house, we planted all the trees to close to the house. Everyone tends to do that because the yard is so big and trees so small and it feels like you have a bit more privacey; however, as the years go by they grow and grow and grow. The roots head for the basement walls and do there damage there, so you either have to transplant them or chop them down and remove the stumps. My aunt had to remove two huge 35 year old evergreen trees and what a difference. Anyway, at least hubby didn't fall off the roof;)

Hi Anagram - Hope you guys are doing ok.

Ally - Joanne is right! Next year, it is either college or get out to work! Even that won't do wonders. They will just grow up when they are ready. If they have been allowed to just be kids, like my son was, they it takes a little longer. It is just that after 18, they are responsible for themselves totally - not that you won't worry, but you really don't have a say, except for what goes on in your own home.

Candice - Amnesia???? I think I would be worried if I found myself sleep eating and also wake up working!!! Perhaps you should talk to your Dr. about that. Good grief girl, you NEVER know what mischief you could be up to

I hope everyone has a great day! It finally stopped snowing here. Calgary has 2 ft. of snow (that is 1 1/2 hours from where I live) so I think I consider myself lucky. They did close the highway from here to Calgary however for 1 full day! That is the second busiest highway in Canada. Today, it is sunny and it looks really nice outside. Still lots of cool air, but it will warm up later this week.

Happy- We didn't plant any of the trees in our yard except a pine. That was one of those little christmas trees that all walmarts and kmarts have every year. At least we planted it next to the property line. It is about 60 feet high and still growing. That we did not expect. No, the trees next to the house were planted by the birds. I just didn't get them pulled out before my hubby say them. He says God put them there and so they stay. I get rid of as many as I can without him knowing it. I did put in a couple orchid trees but not near the house. I have to wach them. They reseed all over the yard too.
How is the job going?
Hello everyone. It is the end of my day. Now ,I will set back with a book. Joanne

Thanks for the warm welcome! It's going to take me awhile to get to know everyone here as I'm also a member of another group for menopausal women too. Menopause & fibro....we women get to have all the fun....LOL!
I had terrible insomnia for almost 7 years with all this hormonal upheaval and that is what brought on the fibro. I tried several different GYNs, birth control pills, Zoloft and nothing seemed to help. Found a new doc who specializes in treating menopause AND fibro. He switched me from Zoloft to Lexapro and I'm sleeping like a baby for the first time in years! I still have a lot of pain all the time, but at least I'm rested now. I'm also a much calmer person too.
For those of you talking about teenagers, it really does get better. I have 23 yr. old triplets, 2 sons, 1 daughter, who all graduated last year from college and are now working . I never thought I'd see the day. :dizzy:
After the past several years of raising kids, sleeping very little, the constant pain resulting in less exercise and weight gain, I find myself nearly 70 lbs overweight. I am starting to follow a WW type diet and am walking regularly with a neighbor. I hope to add some light weights a couple of days a week too.
Do many of you find massage therapy helpful? I go occasionally, but I never seem to rid the persistent pain in my shoulder and neck.
I look forward to sharing with all of you. It's getting late now. Will be checking in again soon.

Take care,
Gail

Gail...I've gone though several periods of massage therapy. Sometimes at a massage therapists and sometimes at a physical therapist my doctor recommended. It helps while they are doing it and most of the day afterward but the next day it hurts again so I wind up quiting...can't go everyday obviously so why go at all! I've found that relaxation techniques work best for me when my neck and shoulders get so tight they feel like they are going to snap (and that's about all the time). I have tapes I listen to at night ... that's about the only way I can get to sleep. I have a video of really easy stretches that help too (when I take the time to do them!)

Candice...better watch that amnesia wandering...might wind up pregnant or something!!!

Gail, I have been doing the hydromassage and find it much more relaxing than having someone digging their fingers into my poor old muscles. I went last week for 1/2 hour and will go again on Thursday, but I think for only 15 min.

I am taking a new med called BETRAX (same family as Celebrex and Vioxx) I have a 10 day presciption to give it a try and see if it irritates my stomach as much as Vioxx. So far so good.

Well, I have never had such a hard time losing weight as the past couple of years have been. Nothing seems to work, but I keep on trying. Eventually, I will find the "magic" combination for my body - I hope:?:

Good morning!!!!I am glad I'm walking today so I can get away from this construction, My arm is a little sore today so I need to get away-I am sanding too so that's why my arm hurts. We went tpo buy a window last night and then stopped at an ice cream bar for brad to check something-free ice cream!!!Gotta be good today. I haven't lost anything this week. And I know I am burning up calories. I think Candice said she had insomnia. because of a med. Bye for now-carpenter is coming at 9 so I have to get dressed. Mima

Happy- I found that it is really hard to lose weight if I am on medication .Arthritis meds are bad to cause water retention and weight gain. I don't take them anymore. They can't find one that doesn't hurt my stomach. If I get rid of one pain another crops up.
It looks like rain again today.I always say when I see it. I am thinking of starting another quilt. I have drawers of scraps and material. I probably would not have to buy much.
I should get out and walk too.
We are planning to go to Va. next month when the Truman comes in. Don't know the date yet. The last time we went ,I nearly froze. I will pack better this time. And I bet it will be warm.

Gail....do you ever wonder if the very act of having triplets was part of ending up with fibro? I think the stress to your body and mind must have been horrendous. I would do the parenting thing again...but never two at once. I could not give my babies individual attention, they tell me that they have been picked on in school since kindergarten for being twins. They do look just alike. If they wear each other's clothes, I mix them up.
But I feel worn out right now. I have had enough of raising kids. Just want peace and quiet.....
AND if they weren't here there would be no excuse to buy bags of chips and cookies:o

Good morning-I picked out and ordered wallpaper for the kitchen-blue and yellow flowers-Brad wasn't too happy that I wanted to paint some of the woodwork white to go with the wallpaper but I think I will. I have a little sore throat so I'll take an allergy pill and some zinc. So much sawdust. But it's almost done!!!!Had a nice walk yesterday with my aunt. Next time we are going to celebrate her 80th birthday,She doesn't want a party.Anyone been watching American Idol-my daughter got me hooked. Bye for now. Mima

Mima - Is it already a year since you got married? Boy, time flies. Soon you will be finished and perhaps your allergies will settle down. Sawdust is just so bad for that, and drywall dust is worse than bad. Your colors sound nice. You will have to show us pictures when you get finished.

I have been watching the American Idol and was shocked last night when Rueben was picked to be gone!!!!! How could this be. I think Josh is the worst of the lot, yet he keeps on staying; so this leads me to believe that, as usual, girls are voting for the "look" and not the voice. In my opinion, in the end, it should be Rueben and Clay to fight it out. Both are so good. I guess whatever happens, all of these young people will get a good start in a music career and they will all pull it off. They all a very good. Josh is just not the best of the very good:dizzy: , but he is a cutie and I think the girls love him.

Joanne - you are right about the meds holding fluid. My skin feels like it is on to tight:lol:

Hope everyone is having a good day.

Good morning everyone! ;)
How old are your twins Ally? You know, the fibro thing didn't start until my 3 were about 10 yrs old. The insomnia started then too and got progressively worse. I was lucky to get 2-3 hours of broken sleep every night. It was starting to affect my work at the office and all parts of my life. I agree, it's hard to give multiples individual attention. I used to take one of mine out at a time to the store and maybe lunch. It gave us some private time. By first grade, they were each in individual activities after school. One son played soccer, one took piano lessons and my daughter was into gymnastics. Of course that took away ALL my time for myself, but it helped each one of them become more independent of each other and improved their self-confidence on their own. It's exhausting having multiples, but now that mine are grown, I wouldn't trade the experience for anything. They're extremely close even though one moved to California and the other 2 are on their own here in Michigan.
We've been getting torrential rain here for the past 24 hours, so I'm really hurting today. I am going to schedule a massage and also look into the hydro-massage too. Has anyone tried accupuncture for the fibro pain?
Well, I hope all of you have a wonderful and relatively pain-free day!
Take care.

Happy Anne...I made plans for dinner last nite with my ex sister-in-law. In the middle of it I remembered I was missing American Idol and almost cried. I was talking about it at work today and I think this is part of the producer's plot to get more ratings. Aren't we all going to tune in now that Ruben was almost on the chopping block? The only other theory is that the fan base for the other's voted off are doing this to get rid of Ruben as he is really the likely winner!
Gail...I ended up with fibro when my kids were about 13. That was the beginning of the bigger battles as they had bikes, would not stay with babysitters. School problems were just getting bad also. I had stress at work etc etc.
My ex sister-in-law told me her best friend has fibro. She has a 26 year old AHDH son who still lives with her. He has been in a thousand car accidents, lost a zillion jobs, flunked out of college. I tell you, it scared me.

My grandaughter likes Clay the best.......We got some good news yesterday-a friend offered his condo in Maine on the ocean for this weekend so we rearranged everything to go-we will be there on our anniversary-I think it's going to be cool up there but one night won't matter-a good break from this activity-and Brad got notification that he hadn't cashed a $550 check from 4 years ago so they will send a new one-that should pay for something. Next weeekend is the burial of Brad's mother at the cemetery-she died in Jan when the ground was frozen. That should be fun!! Going to TOPS this morning-haven't done a lot of walking-just other things.like doors. Bye for now -Mima

Mima- Forgotten checks. I was really bad about that when I was working. I would come home and drop them in my panty drawer. Well needless to say I forgot to take them out and take them to bank. One day I was cleaning out the drawer and found several. My hubby had a fit. Nice little saving. I right then got the idea that I really did not need to get up ar 5 am anymore. Ofcourse that was at the time my knee was giving me a fit. The doctor and my daughter let me know real quick that working days were at an end. I was not that unhappy about it. I have not missed the checks or the job.
It is sunny outside. My hubby is cutting the grass. I hope he cuts it all. He has a habit of going around all the wild flowers that come up.
Ally- I found that it doesn't end when the kids finally decide that they are grown. We still worry. I sometimes said ,I wish I could excape to an Island where there were no telephones or problems. Just for a little while. I love to be alone sometimes..
Hello everybody. Have a Great Weekend...Joanne

Joanne...you and I have a lot in common. I love to be alone, too and I often find checks and money that I've tucked away and forgotten about. I once found a $100 bill in the bottom of my cash box in the piano room and I'm aways putting checks piano students give me in there and forgetting to cash them. I once had a student's mother ask me about one three months later ...seems she was having trouble balancing her checkbook because I forgot to cash a $40 check she was having to add back each month! Nobody understands why I like to be alone. When my mother was alive she would always say, "If you had to live by yourself all the time you wouldn't like it so much." Well... maybe not ALL THE TIME... but I hate having somebody right in my face all the time. I really dread when my husband retires!

I've been able to stay off my ankle for a few days and it is much better... but how in the world do you stay off your feet and still live! Not possible! Still don't have everything put back together. I'm thinkin' - "All the kings horses and all the kings men won't be able to put this place back together again"!

I've lost 11 pounds so far!

Meme- My hubby retired almost 20 years ago. Believe me keep your hubby healthy and working. I worked for 10 years after he retired. I felt almost cheated untill I came to terms with it. Your life is never the same. He doesn't care to travel or do much else but stay home. He works in the yard and watches TV and goes everywhere I go ,almost.
Good for you on the weight loss. I am hoping to maintain a loss for my next Tops meeting next week.
Mima- How did you do at Tops today? Good I hope. Are you enjoying the meetings?

Good evening, all. Ah, retired husbands - I'd say I'm sort of an expert. Although we had separate activities, etc. But since he's been ill, that's gone away. We are mostly tied at the hip but that's ok because I'm glad to have the time with him. He retired the first time 12 years ago and the second time 8 years ago. I wasn't working so I "retired" when he did.

His tests were "ok" this week but they decided to test him again next week before they take the dialysis port out of his neck. And now they think they might have to put him in hospital to do it. He's been mowing the lawn, cleaned up the patio , put out the summer furniture. Empties d/w, launders towels and his underwear, etc. So he's come a long, long way.

We've been walking. I think I've been out every day this week and he missed, I think, only the day he walked mowing the lawn. I've also been drinking my water. Not too bad on the food but weekend is here again. We're going down to babysit with the princesses tomorrow and will come back Sunday.

I do miss the travelling we used to do but I'm sure at least some one day trips will be done during the summer. He travelled sometimes when he worked and I went with him as much as possible once the younger kidlet went away to school (and a fair amount before then). this will be the second overnighter to my daughters and I guess that's a fair trial. I guess we could go elsewhere overnight too but neither one of us wants to until we go to celebrate getting the thingy out.

So sticking around home has helped me catch up a bit on some little things but there's still a mountain....The last two days I had lots of discomfort with rain, cold front, humidity, etc. Feeling more human tonight. Think I'll go finish my day with some ice cream (80 cal a 1/2 cup no sugar added and all that but ice cream nonetheless).

Happy anniversary, Mima!

Anagram, I am so very happy for you that your hubby is doing better. It will be nice to have things more normal for you during the summer. Have fun babysitting those little ones.

My hubby informed me that he will never retire because he NEEDS to have something to do. He doesn't have any hobbies, and I think he would love to go work on a farm during harvest time (combining). That's ok with me, because I don't know what to do with him after a couple of weeks:lol: I never get anything done because he always wants to here and there. I still have a few years before I have to deal with it, and when it happens I will. I just hope he remains healthy.

Mima - happy anniversay to you and Brad. I can't believe it already a year, but time has a way of flying. Enjoy the weekend.

Hi to everybody else.

Thank you Anne-Brad is going to set people up to work and then we are leaving for ME. Brad keeps threatening that he will retire but when he takes days off he keeps busy and he loves to play with his trains-when we go to FL he is going to take lots of train stuff to put together-he's not a pool person but he's very sociable and there are activities-I lost a lb and a quarter this weeks and 2 and a half for the month-I tied with someone else but she gave me the rose for the most weight loss because she had gotten one before. That's a nice gesture. I really like TOPS-I like the discussions and the camradry-sp?-Shutters up on front of house -awesome!!!!Kitchen done for the meantime-lots of little things left. like electrical left. Guy is coming this am to put up new front door and window. Then we will get stonework . Anangram-I'm so glad your husband is better and able to do some things. What a relief-hope it lasts. Ligntening struck our big TV in the livingroom yesterday morning so we had to go buy a new one last night. Got a 27" flat screen ... NEAT! You can see it from any angle and it doesn't reflect light. Now I can have my front door open while the kids watch cartoons in the mornings! :D

I was having a weird reaction to the Topamax. About 1 1/2 - 2 hrs. after I took it, I got this gosh awful pressure on my bladder and horrible cramps in my sides ... then about 1 1/2 - 2 hrs. before time to take it again they would go away. Almost like a bladder infection but without the burning sensation and the back pain. I called the Dr. office, they said they would talk to the Dr. and call me back... they did and the idiots said I needed to go have my urine checked for a bladder infection ... AND ME TELLING THEM IT WASN'T A BLADDER INFECTION IT WAS THE MEDICINE! I said NO ... IT ISN'T A BLADDER INFECTION ...I TOLD YOU IT IS THE MEDICINE. Then I explained the whole thing over again only that time I explained it like I would to my 4 year old granddaughter. And she said... OHHH ... She got it ... Must've been a blonde! He cut the dosage back ('course ... he had no way of knowing I had already done that!) Idiot! I really hate having to deal with doctors. So ... I said all that so say ... today I have a migraine. What cha' gonna do??? :?: It's not debilitating ... just enough to aggravate!

Well... I promised myself that I was going to get rid of as many 'boxes' as I could get through today and get as many pictures and stuff back on the walls as I could 'cause hubby doesn't have to work and he said he'd be at my disposal all afternoon ... he said he'd do whatever I needed him to ... he's going to be hanging pictures and lugging boxes around!!! :s:

I love American Idol and my vote goes to Clay or Ruben:) I think Josh is still around cause he is in the military and the war and stuff got him publicity! I like the girl left on there too..can't think of her name..hummmmm... Tracy maybe......:?:

Finished the flower bed I was digging and dividing..took me forever! It should be good for another 3 years....now my iris need divided but I will probably wait..never seem to have the energy or time in the fall when it needs to be done. There is just too much to do around here anymore. Got some pansies potted but that is it for now..will make a trip this week to buy more flowers for my pots! :sp:

You gals with multiples........well all I can say is you deserve around of applause! :cp:

I'm like Joanne when it comes to the meds...you take it for one thing and then you have something else that the meds cause!

I got diagnosed with Fibro after a severe strep infection that landed me in the hospital in 82. ( Although I can remember back to my teens and having some unexpalined pains and stuff going on that I think was Fibro then.)

Quit carrying a purse and it will help your neck and shoulders..I switched to a fanny pack when my arms were so bad and my neck got better!:dizzy:

Mima...I can't believe it has been a year. Seems like just a few weeks ago you were buying a dress.
Happy and Candice....I like Ruben and Clay too. But I have to admit that Simon is right when he says that Clay is heading for Broadway!!! Thanks for that applause Candice...I have a set of multiples right now laying on the couch watching Romancing the stone for the tenth time!!!!
Joanne and Anagram..... Husbands. I can do without one, but I go to see my Aunt and understand what it must be like to lose one who was like your right arm. Hopefully she will get on the computer one of these days.
Gail...where are you and your triplets???
AND...I LOVE TO BE ALONE. Maybe I love it so much cause it hardly ever happens.

Hi everyone,
Had a lovely day here, got some yard work done. Now I'm sore as all heck. :(
Ally, I'm in Michigan, Detroit suburbs. My one son and daughter still live at home, are working full time after graduating from college recently. Hopefully, they will be able to afford their own places before the end of the year as they plan. My other son moved to San Francisco in December after his graduation from college. He's going to start work on his masters degree this fall.
I too love to be alone. It's SO NICE not to have the darn tube on the Golf Channel or some other drivel.....lol. I prefer to read and listen to some jazz. I took a trip alone to visit my son in California last month....first plane trip in nearly 24 years as I'm terrified of flying. I survived and had a wonderful time. I may do it by myself more often. My husband doesn't mind and it gives me a chance for some peace and quiet.
:cb:
Enjoy the rest of what's left of this weekend. I need to rest up for my walk tomorrow morning.

See ya

What did I miss -this talk about multiples? Ha!!!We had such a nicve weekend even if it was short-anyome know the Maine coast-it's really nice and there are good restaurants there-although I wasn't too bad. Brad got me a dozen roses in the supermarket while I waited in the car!!When we got home, there was another trailer in the yard-we are paying the rubbish man to take things away and Brad is telling him to bring things here from somewhere else. I am so stuffy today -hope it's not anything because I have to work 2 12 hour days this week. Hope you all had a good weekend. Mima

I was a OK weekend here. It has gotten really hot down here. If this is a sign of summer we better look out. It was in the low to mid 90's depending what tree the reading was under. 95 out on the hwy.19.
I have been busy doing the usuall things. So nothing to really talk about. I went down to a craft show on sat. and believe me their were a lot of pretty things and a lot of expensive junk. I didn't buy a thing. That is not like me to go somewhere and not buy something. I didn't see anything I wanted to bring home.
I am going to the mall one day this week. I think friday. I might be in a buying mood. My hubby says as always pick out something you want for Mothers Day. I might.

I am very congested and achy-wish I could stay home. Buy something nice Joanne-maybe a sexy nightie-haha!Mima

Ally...I think that is what the attraction in being alone is for me...it hardly ever happens! Hubby works all day but I have a child here a lot and if no child then piano students and, up until last July, my mother right next door. After this summer I'll have a lot more alone time. Kaylyn will be in Kindergarten, Ross will be in second grade and Garrett will be in third. Jenna is in preschool all day already so I should only have piano students. I'll have Ross all summer and I'll still have him when there's no school (I'll be doing that untill he's old enough to stay by himself ... for him and Jenna both I suppose!) I enjoy having them every now and then... just not all the time!!!

Mima...I can't believe it's already been a year since we were helping you pick out a dress...my how time flies!!! I'm glad you had a good time in Main!

Candice...I haven't been doing ANYTHING actually. The weight just came off. I don't like to eat anymore. Everything I put in my mouth tastes like rust. YUCK!!! I don't even like Diet Coke anymore! I've been drinking water and tea... We went out to eat tonight after church and I got pancakes. I ate all three of them ... they didn't taste too awful. I had a Whopper and fries for lunch ... the fries were ok but the Whopper didn't taste very good... didn't eat it all! Friday I forgot to eat until hubby got home from work. I had a granola bar Friday morning because I had to eat something before I could take two of my pills but then I forgot to eat anything else the rest of the day... I just wasn't hungry. I still wasn't even hungry when we went out for dinner. I had a salad and some boiled shrimp and that about filled me up, then I went back to the food bar and got some meat and rice and I was stuffed. I think it's the Topamax.

Gail... I used to live in MI. I graduated from Redford. I also went to Highland Park High School, Northern High School on Woodward and Clairmont and to a Private school in Allen Park, Green Meadows. After I married, I lived in Royal Oak then moved to Madison Heights and then we moved to Tennesse where we live now - about half way between Nashville and Knoxville. Although - I was born in VA and most of my family are in NC where I lived from age 3 to 9. So ... now - the 64 thousand dollar question is ... where am I from???
We spent a couple of weeks in California 3 years ago. I really enjoyed it but I didn't enjoy the trip. I don't like to fly either. I'm not afraid and I don't get sick... I just don't travel well ... too uncomfortable!

I'm really really close to being finished 'unpacking'!!! This week should do it! I asked hubby yesterday if he thought we could be finished by this weekend. He said MAYBE ... if my ankle let me and he didn't have to work a lot of overtime. The piano room is done. I'll try to make some pictures of my wall arrangements in there and post them. I've spent over $600 on Home Interior in that one room alone! (It isn't hard to spend that much on Home Interior though!) I'm going to try to get the stuff up on my bathroom wall tomorrow and then I'll try to get a picture of that, too. I'm not sure I can because of the way it is layed out. May be too close!

Internet was down all day yesterday...storms. We have had our share for the year already. And it's still raining some. The power was off again this morning for 2 hours. Kaylyn and I just gave up and took a nap. She was trying to color with a flash light!!! I said I'm going to take a nap...can't see to do anything else. She said, well...I could hold the flash light for you! I said, that's ok...I'd rather just take a nap!

Gotta go eat a bite, almost teaching time!

There were 3 good arguments that Jesus was Black:
1. He called everyone "brother"
2. He liked Gospel
3. He couldn't get a fair trial.

But then there were 3 equally good arguments that
Jesus was Jewish:
1. He went into His Fathers business.
2. He lived at home until he was 33.
3. He was sure his Mother was a virgin and his
mother was sure he was God.

But then there were 3 equally good arguments that
Jesus was Italian:
1. He talked with his hands.
2. He had wine with every meal.
3. He used olive oil.

But then there were 3 equally good arguments that
Jesus was a Californian:
1. He never cut his hair.
2. He walked around barefoot all the time.
3. He started a new religion.

But then there were 3 equally good arguments that
Jesus was Irish:
1. He never got married.
2. He was always telling stories.
3. He loved green pastures.

But the most compelling evidence of all - 3 proofs
that Jesus was a woman:
1. He fed a crowd at a moment's notice when there
was no food.
2. He kept trying to get a message across to a
bunch of men who just didn't get it
3. And even when he was dead, He had to get up
because there was more work to do.

AMEN

That was a good one Meme. And I wish there was a time I was not hungry. I am thinking about my next meal while I am eating the current one!!!
Yeah, I wonder if I will like being alone when I am really alone. The one thing that helped me survive all these years was that one or both of my kids saw their father on weekends. Now they never go over there. I always have them and their friends here.
ANd someone always wants to eat.
I came home and smelled hamburger when I walked in. That was dinner. What will I fix now???
Gail!!! You still have two at home. Bless you! Do they all get along?

Howdee everyone,

Ally, my kids all get along now that they are adults. They've always been pretty close even though they each had their own group of friends growing up.

Meme, I live in Livonia. Grew up in Dearborn Heights. Do you still have family in Michigan? My husband and I are going to California in July. Visiting our son in San Francisco and spending a few days at Lake Tahoe too. I know what you mean about flying being uncomfortable. I have to stretch and get up and walk often. I get so dang sore sitting. :(

Went for a massage tonight and need to crash now.

Goodnight,
Gail

Good morning-Just took a couple of minutes to do my usual thing-off to work in 30 minutes-yesterday I put masking tape on signs-that's why they pay me the big bucks-9.50 an hour. It is nice to meet new people-some of them local and I don't know people around here. tomorrow my grandaughter will be 13-would love to see her face when she opens her music books-one is Teen Hits, N'Sync etc. She plays piano and guitar-guitar not so good. Clay was great last night. I shoiuld have vote dbut I didn't know if that # was toll-free. Mima

Well ladies, no more job. I have been finding it increasingly more painful after each shift I worked. The last time was Thursday, and I am still in a flare. Also, the good old arthritis kicked in, in the lower back. It was an experiment, and now I know the answer. I will now be able to put that part of my life to rest. Although I have had an amazing journey to less pain days, these days do not include work - only my daily routine. I am able to keep up with my housework (not vacuuming and wall washing but mostly everything else). If I can't do something, my hubby will do it for me. I am now hoping that this flare will soon be ready to get gone. I also believe the weather is playing a part in all this as well. It has been snowing for 3 days and we now have more snow than we did all winter. The average snowfall for May is 3cm and we have had over 27cm and it is only day 7!!!!! What weather patterns we are all having. I would rather have the snow however, than those tornados in your area Meme.

I do NOT like to be by myself a lot. I enjoy people. I have learned to spend time with myself, but it is not my preference. Nor is fighting with teens, Ally. You will enjoy the solitude for awhile, but it does wear thin after awhile.

Hope you all have a nice day.

Happy- I hope you will soon be back to pain free days. I can't imagine snow still falling. It is in the 90's already here at times.
Too hot to walk outside after about 10 am. I have done a little on the treadmil, but ,I have to admit, not what I should. I must get the motivation to do better.
Ally- It seems that girls leave the nest and go on with their lives, but , some boys are always close by. My son is one of those guys. It is like when he first came home from school every afternoon. He would tell me all about his day. He still does. I guess not having a wife to come home to has a lot to do with it.I can't imagine having a group of boys eating everything in the icebox. I had my share of them when my son was growing up. They seemed to always know what time to show up at supper.
Meme- Enjoy those G/children while you can. They will soon grow up.
Mima- When are you going to retire? You must really enjoy working..
Hello Candice, Anagram..Is the Hubby still doing good?
Bye...Joanne

Well, dh is still off dialysis, Joanne so that's good. He had more tests run today so we're hoping for good news tomorrow. i've had minimigrains the last two days. I'm thinking it's the weather. I used to get killers but have not had many in recent years.

Sorry about the job, Anne. I think I too would have liked to have a smallish job but my days are so unpredictable I can't see it happening. I liked the people part of working.

my sister from Alaska was here on Monday on her way north from Texas (winter place) with one of my local sisters and their husbands. We all went to the Olde Country Buffet for lunch and then came back here where the three "sissies" did some crafts. I'm no good at that and second sis is only moderately. But first sis had everything prepared for us and gave us instruction and they were fairly easy. Good day. will see her in fall when she heads south again, I guess. She always comes and spends some time with Mom.

Mima, I've been on the Maine coast twice (in the same year, would you believe?) and liked it very much. We had been all the way up to Bar Harbour the first time stopping in many little towns including Kennebunkport and at the LL Bean place. The second time we stayed in Ogunquit(?) and I found that a charming little place and loved the ocean walk.

Ooh, 90s, Joanne! That's when I don't think I'd like FL. It hit 79 here today and that was enough for me.

I dragged myself for a walk last evening thinking I'd feel better if I did. I felt better that I did it but didn't feel any better physically. Today I went to the pool - same reason, same result. I hope whatever this is soon passes.

Went to get my hair trimmed today and we got to talking and she cut it way too short..but it will grow. (It is just touching my shoulders now and I have a short neck!) Hope I can still put it up like I like to wear it. The gal cutting my hair thinks her DH has Firbro triggered by a car accident..she said he is drving her nuts with his complaing of pain and he is on a pain patch.
He goes to the Diamond Pain Clinic and is going to get botox injections in his neck to stop the headaches..supposed to work for 6 months.

Meme..I tried topomax but couldn't take it and the doc told me it would take my appetite away..said all his patients lose weight on it...nice side affect! I love being alone too..always have!

Happy..I'm gald you quit working outside the home..I just knew it would be to much for you. When I subbed I had to take alot more meds than I do now. Are you back on the elavil?

Ally...you work all day so you are around people..I can see why you want some alone time...I was glad and sad the first time Our house was empty of kids and now with one back and leaving again in August...it will be the same thing. You get used to them not being around and you get used to them being around. I would miss DH if he were gone for good but do like my time alone alot!;)

Anna..glad DH is doing ok and sorry about your headaches!

Raven....So you have grown kids living with you:D Have they ever been out of the house??? Whne my son moved back in this March it took awhile to get used to.

Mima...yes Clay was good and I missed it tonight but I think Josh got the boot! Kimberly is the girls name and I like her to.

Joanne..90's that is hot! I do that too when I shop....but most of the time I always find something!

Good morning-Go Clay!!!!Josh finally got the boot-he's been hanging on by a thread-I'm glad you quit, Anne. there are all different kinds of jobs. I worked 11 hours yesterday and the same today but there is a lot of hanging around time. I got the job as timer and spent some time on bathroom duty. I'm never going to stop working but I only take jobs I can say no too. Except for my stomache, the teacher testing is a break because you are sitting, I just miss the socialization from being around lots of people and I get bored at home. I retired at 60 which is young. So now I'm almost 65. Snow!!! Wow!!It's raining here. Hi to all-off tpo get dressed. Mima

American Idol contestant, Josh is now gone. He really should have been booted off sometime ago. The Girl will be the next to go, leaving Clay and Rueben to fight for the title. I just don't know. Rueben has such a smooth voice, but Clay really outdid himself last night. He was great. Whoever wins, the other will also have a career in music, as both are so good. I try to close my eyes when they are singing and see how that works, and that is when Rueben wins(for me) His voice is so mellow it just makes you feel good. Clay is a Barry Manilow type singer. I think Rueben can sing more types of songs.

Candice - the good thing about a bad haircut is that in 6 weeks you can do something with it again. It sure doesn't take long to grow.

It is still snowing, and has been about 30-34 degrees F. Tomorrow, most of the snow should melt, as it will be into the 50's and by Sunday into the 60's. The grass is really, really green under the snow, from what I can see of it.

Ah! The joys of spring!

Here is a little joke to start your morning.

An old man lived alone in Alabama. He wanted to spade his potato
garden, but it was very hard work. His only son, Bubba, who used to
help him, was in prison. The old man wrote a letter to his son and
described his predicament.

Dear Bubba,
I am feeling pretty bad because it looks like I won't be able to plant
my potato garden this year. I'm just getting too old to be digging up a
garden plot. If you were here, all my troubles would be over. I know
you would dig the plot for me. Love, Dad

A few days later he received a letter from his son.

Dear Dad,
For heavens sake, dad, Don't dig up that garden - that's where
I buried the bodies! Love, Bubba

At 4 A.M. the next morning, FBI agents and local police showed up and
dug up the entire area without finding any bodies. They apologized to
the old man and left. A couple of days later the old man received
another letter from his son.

Dear Dad,
Go ahead and plant the potatoes now. It's the best I could do under the
circumstances.

Love, Bubba

Evening everyone,

Candice, yes, both of my sons went away to college and lived away for several years. The one just moved to California in December. The other son moved back in with us after he graduated. Was a tough adjustment for him, but it's been working out ok. He hopes to move out on his own by the end of the year. My daughter lived at home when she was going to college, has never moved out. But, she's currently looking at apartments and will be moving out this summer. I honestly can't complain, they're good kids for the most part and help out at home. :flow1:

I need to seriously get organized and start my spring cleaning. I'm in between temp assignments now, so I have to get busy!

Looking forward to the WEEKEND!!

Gail
