GOOD MONDAY MORNING EVERYONE!

Will post my usual morning post sometime later, but wanted to make sure I got our
MOTIVATIONAL MONDAY done early in the morning, so here's my contribution for MM, there's 2 of them to read today:

http://members.aol.com/debelli/monday_morning_thought.jpg

ANOTHER STEP FORWARD

It is not very realistic to expect that you'll go from where you are now to where you want to be in one quick leap. The most reliable and lasting progress is made one step at a time.

Welcome each step as you take it and reach it. Even though you're not all the way there just yet, you're moving steadily forward. Value and appreciate the progress you've made, then continue moving on. The next step forward awaits you, and with it you'll move even closer.

The reward you seek at the end of the path is given value by every step of the journey. Each moment spent is time well spent when you're moving steadily forward, even if you still have a way to go.

Some steps may be tedious, or complicated, difficult, challenging or uncomfortable. Yet they are all moving you surely toward the place you want to be.

-- Ralph Marston
*******************
ALWAYS SOMETHING

Even when it seems there is nothing you can do, there is something you can do. No matter what the situation may be, there is always something positive you can do about it.

Sometimes you can take complete control of what's going on. Other times you may only be able to have a slight, barely perceptible influence. Still other times the only thing you may be able to do is to change your own thinking about the situation. Yet even that can end up being a significant positive step.

Being helpful is infinitely better than being helpless. And being genuinely helpful is an option that is always open to you.

Throw up your hands in despair or frustration if you wish, but don't expect it to get you anywhere. The more effective choice is to know, without a doubt, that there is something you can do, and to then get busy with it. Life is best when lived not by chance, but by choice.

Good Morning!

Wow...its Monday!
Another week!
Another chance to make yourself proud.... Proud that you made the right choices, proud that you did something for YOU, because YOU deserve to be treated with love and respect. So, love and respect yourself this week, and make the choices that are best for you by staying OP, because you are worth being healthy.

I am going back to bed now. :) I did not sleep well at all! Had some kind of digestive upset that kept me up half the night. The alarm went off and I about hit the ceiling! It was awful!

 later, my friends!

Hi Everyone

I'm a baby to the program, but I swore off all sugar last Aug 18 and have had no junk food of any kind, even sugar free. I've lost 28 pounds. But, I've had lots of carbs and have hit a stall for a while. I came across SB and since I've lost my cravings for sugar (I still can't bilieve it!!!) I figured I could do some switching from white flour to WW and white rice to brown etc. Howeer, it seems too good to be true. I've lost 4 pounds since last Monday and feel re-charged. I would appreciate hearing some success stories.

I hope everyone is having an awesome Monday so far. We had a super weekend. The weather was beautiful and Robert finally had a day off. Saturday the kids had an ice cream eating contest....I don't think I have ever laughed so hard. I put two scoops of strawberry swirl ice cream...one scoop of cool whip and chcolate syrup in a bowl....they then had to eat it without their hands....:D We put them at the picnic table and let them go to town. Our oldest Jess blew his siblings away..I think he even licked the bowl clean.

Yesterday I decided to try on some dresses I had been saving in my closet for that one day they might fit. To be honest I didn't think they would ever fit because they were tight in the rib cage area. I can't tell you how blessed and encouraged I was when they fit! All three were 7/8's....I'm not a true 7/8 but it was still a major boost after a year of feeling stalled and actually going up some. I hope if you get anything from reading this it's that even when you think you are getting no where to hang in there. And that scales are not the only barometer (sp) of how well you are doing. Of course you will have to remind me of this one since the scales still tend to set my mood.

Killa Welcome to the board. I feel successful because I've stuck with this for over 2 years. Of course losing about 90 pounds has helped. I think you will be blessed by this way of eating. Not only in weight loss but good health. Like with any thing there have been ups and downs. The ups far out weighing any downs.

Monet Good morning! Thank you for the motivation this morning. I'll be thinking of you when I hit that treadmill in a bit. I hope after you get back up that you are feeling refreshed and ready to have a super day.

Deb Thanks for all you do for us. This board is awesome and you are appreciated. I hope your Dad is continuing to heal from his surgery.

Well ya'll I'll sneak back in a bit. I'm trying to get the kids motivated this morning. One more month and then we go to half days....I can hardley wait.

Love,
Crystle

I am not feeling well this morning. I think I over did it a little yesterday and I am paying for it today. I have to take my car in for service this afternoon and will probably leave work early so that helps;)

I am discouraged....I am not losing. I was wondering if some of you could email me your weekly menu's so that I can see what you do. I intended on making one up for myself but I just can't seem to get with it. (joleary@webmd.net)
I haven't had any potato in weeks now! I hardly ever did white bread so that hasn't been a problem. The snack food has been the toughest. I buy the Snyder oat bran pretzels so that I can have a snack during the day. I was eating peanuts but I found that I would have too many so I am not going to buy them anymore. As you all know I hate vegetables so this is tough. I need ideas.

I am also wondering about two foods....is sugar-free jell-o and popcorn legal? I know that I cannot have corn but I was wondering about it popped.

Deb: Harvard is in Cambridge, MA and it is not that far but not close. Cambridge is in the city and I am in the burbs. My brother in law went to Harvard. My step-daughter had her wedding reception at Upstairs at the Pudding. It is no longer there but it was a restaurant over the Hasty Pudding Club. Cambridge is a neat city. Very diverse.

Kim: Yes I did get the directions. Thank you so much. I can't wait to try it. My husband will laugh at me if he sees me start yet another project. You should see my sewing room....I have so many unfinished projects! I wish I didn't have to work so I could stay home and work on them.

Well, good morning to everyone else. I will post again later.

Have a good day.

Hey everyone.

Don't have time this morning to read everything, but I'll be back later to do that. Just wanted to let everyone know that I found my 6 yr. old's glasses last night! I was so happy to find them. I'm waiting on a call from the doc office to get my 9 yr. old in to get her cast on today. I hope they have an appointment to get her in.

Gotta run, I'll check back later.

Morning all!

I feel very rested and refreshed after waking this morning--although, I didn't sleep particularly well. But my mind is always fresher in the morning. If I can get through this banquet tonight without strangling anyone it will be a minor miracle!

After Friday night's pity party I decided that I'm being driven nuts by some people that have their own agendas and that I shouldn't sabatoge myself by pigging out on bad foods when they start to get to me--I should take it out on them instead!:s: So I have started telling these folks that they are not doing the job and that their behavior is not acceptable. Funny, how the urge to cheat just vanished.

I'm sure by the end of the day today I will be so tired I could cry, but as long as the job gets done--that's ok. I picked the menu for tonight's banquet so, of course, I made sure that there are foods I can eat being served. If it is like last year, however, I won't even have a chance to sit down and eat--hmmmm, so I better have something light in the house for when I get home.

I need to leave the house by 5:30 am tomorrow in order to make my plane in Atlanta. For once, I have planned ahead and all the laundry is done, the house is clean and in a minute I'm going to get out the suitcase and begin packing so I don't have to do it tonight when I am tired. This is so unlike me!

Me, me,me, me.

Sorry, I'm a little self obsessed this am.

Crystle--WTG on those 7/8's!!!!!:D I have learned to pay as much or even more attention to the way my clothes fit and to the tape measure than to the fickle scale. It sounds like your kids had a blast with the ice cream contest! You sound like such a fun Mom!

Killa--Welcome to SB! I have been doing SB for 2 and 1/2 years now. I originally lost 70 lbs--but then last fall fell off the wagon BIG TIME and gained over 30 (ok, closer to 40) of that back. I've been following the program closely again for the past 5 weeks (since Lent began) and have re-lost 12 of those regained pounds. I love this WOE! There is plenty to eat and I feel so much better when I eliminate sugar and refined carbs from my diet. You've learned an important lesson--the refined carbs (white flour, white rice, white potatoes, etc) can be just as bad as the added sugars in foods. Once you have lost the taste for sugar (it's amazing isn't it!) you have the hardest part of the battle won!

Monet--I hope you can get some rest! It looks like it is going to be another gorgeous day in the SE US!

BOB--I hope your back is feeling better!

Lot's to do today. Moms procedure is late tomorrow afternoon, so I don't know when I will get back on, but I'm taking the laptop with me, so I'll check in when I can!

Love you all!

Lot's of folks posting while I was!

Jane--Hope you are feeling better soon! SF Jello is ok. Some folks eat popcorn and some don't. I try not to simply because I eat too much of it.

Jenn--WTG on finsing the glasses!!!!

Have a good OP day everyone!

Good Monday Morning.

Hope everyone is feeling on top of the world today.

Myself, I'm feeling overwhelmed. My head is spinning with all this wedding stuff. I think I need not to work for the next month. think my boss will care? :D

The shower was nice. It was pampered chef. She sold around $800 and got almost everything she wanted.

It was a beautiful weekend. Sat I cleaned all day and worked in the yard some. Yesterday I didn't see the light of day.

I just quickly skimmed the posts from the weekend.

BKM, so glad to see you back. I'm sure divorce is a struggle, but I'm sure you will prevail. You would be having words with your DD even if you wern't divorced. It's just girls and their mommas.

Teensy, I was never much of a shopper until I lost this weight. Now I love to go and buy. It's a blessing being able to try something on and it fits and it's not aplus size.

Heartmom, Have fun with the softball team. We did that a few years ago and it was fun. Then each year it got more and more serious and people started bringing in really good players and people started getting hurt. So we backed out and just go and watch now.

Tranquil, I was thinking of you oaver the weekend. I had gone to the store and saw a woman walking her greyhound. Made me think of you.

Jecrites, What a shame your DD broke her wrist. Hope it is only for 4 weeks. So glad you found your DD's glasses.

Gumbo, Nice to have you back.

Monet, had to laugh about your DD being home. Mine had cleaned up the desk for the shower. About 8:00 I went to take something downstairs and all your books and papers were scattered around on the floor and desk. Some things never change.

Susan, Congrats on the 2 lbs. I reallt didn't have any doubts that your lunch would turn out fine as well as the dinner. Have a safe trip. Keeping you and your mom in my prayers.

Agape, sorry your are having so many problems. It's a new week things have to get better.

Grin, I love your attitude. You are so right about things mattering a week, month, etc.

Killa, it sounds like you are a success story on your own. Congrats for a good job. I have been doing Sb since Oct 2001 and have lost 102 pounds. his is agreat WOE and something you can do for the rest of your life. There are so many people here that have lost lots of weight. I'm sure you will hear all their stories.

Country, WTG on getting in those dresses. I know that is such a wonderful feeling. Really get you motivated. My luck was I would put stuff away and when I put it on it was either the wrong season when it fit or it was too big by then.

Jane, Sorry you are feeling poorly today. My menu for today was/is B; 2 egss scrambles, 2 pc of bacon, 1/2 cup grape juice. Lunch is a salad with cheese and ham, dinenr will be hamburgers (no bun) white beans, slaw, another veggie.

Kim, Hope you had a nice anniversary and got the garage cleaned out.

Deb, thanks for the info on the pb flour. Sounds interesting. May look into it next month. Not a big pb fan.

Bob, Hope you are feeling better today. That shoulder has lingered too long.

Sorry to anyone I missed. Not intentional . Need to get busy.

How do you get to the place where you change your avitar? I'm computer stupid. I have looked everywhere.

Also, I bought a spaghetti squash. How do I fix it to use it as spaghetti? How much can you get outof one squash?

Thanks for all your help.

I thought that was a good quote!

JackK - I bet that was a pretty sight, a lady walking her greyhound! Mine was in bed with me with her head on the pillow snoring this weekend....seemed she decided she needed to be close to Mommy for some reason.

Spaghetti Squash: How I cook it.... I slice it in half, spritz it with olive oil and some seasoning (salt, pepper, garlic), put it in a microwave safe dish, cover and cook (30 mins?)....then I let it cool off a bit, scoop out the good spaghetti stuff, then I top it with my homemade spaghetti sauce I make....and it is delicious - my son prefers to just have it with some butter and parmesan cheese....

Well hello to everyone - I have to get back to work!!! AHHH! Work is always interrupting my life

Good morning. Go to the top of the page and click on UserCP...then go to options. You can change your avitar in there. :)

The spagetti squash is easy...just poke some holes in it...zap anywhere from 8 to 10 minutes. Then if it's fork tender cut open..remove seeds...then just fork out the insides they will string up all by themselves.

:D Well, I'm really motivated this morning and I've just gotta share!

Last weekend I talked with my best friend about Weight Watchers. She got all of the information from someone in her family that "joined". I had never seen how they do the points and everything, so I asked her to make me a copy. She started it on Monday and after I looked over everything, I decided to start my own SB version of WW. I didn't start until Wed. because of that field trip I took with Justin. I decided to try this because I figured it would really help me control the quantity/portions of what I am eating and I could still follow SB rules as well. Ladies, not even a week later, I am down 6 lbs!! I had really, really fallen off the wagon though, ya know. I was back at my high of 159 before the field trip and I figured the trip would work a lb or so off, but when I got back and got on the scale Wed morning, I was up to 161.5, an all-time "not pregnant" high. I was so depressed I wanted to crawl under the bed and stay forever. I know that the extra couple lbs were probably water because I was in the "blank pill" stage of my BC pill pack and my rings were tight, but it didn't matter. I had to start and stick with something or be depressed beyond my wildest dreams. I feel so motivated this morning! I know the 6 lbs are still mostly water, but WOW, 6 lbs is A LOT in just 5 days!! I'm just overjoyed this morning - can you tell?!?!?

It was a beautiful weekend here in N AL. Baseball season started on Sat. Tyler's team won and Justin's lost. Both games were exciting and really competitive. Tyler plays "T-ball" (which is actually coach pitch, they just call it t-ball) and his team won in the last inning with the last batter knocking in the winning run. Justin's team gave their game away on silly errors - they'll probably get worked to death at practice this week… they are 11/12 year old range, so the coaches are a little harder on them.

Deb - glad to hear it was the right kind of surgeon/doctor. That makes me feel much better. Those cancer docs/oncologists seem to know their stuff. I sure wouldn't want to have their job, though. I couldn't imagine having to face the kinds of things they see day after day. I guess when they are able to really help someone that it makes it worthwhile.

Bob - hope your shoulder gets better soon.

BKM - glad to see you back! We can get back on the wagon together!!

Fillise - hope the heart cath goes well. Thinking of you and your DM.

Crystle - I'M GREEN WITH ENVY - a 7/8, Wow - that’s so GREAT!

Monet - hope your tummy gets to feeling better!

Jane - I'm like you and don't like a lot of veggies. What about fruit for a snack? I love green apples and they do the trick for me at snacktime.

Here is my MM contribution:

Hold up your head! you were not made for failure, you were made for victory; go forward with a joyful confidence in that result sooner or later, and the sooner or later depends mainly on yourself.

Well, I just woke up again. I still feel kind of yucky. I went down, fixed a pot of tea and stared at the inside of the fridge. Nothing seemed to appeal to me for breakfast. I need to take my medication, but you are supposed to eat something when you do. guess I am not going to get the morning dose in, since there was nothing I wanted to eat.

JANE: If you are honestly sticking to the program and not losing, you need to go and have your thyroid checked. A normal TSH level for thyroid is now .3 to 3.0. If your doctor tells you it is normal, make sure you find out what the number is, so you can know if he knows about the new guidelines. It is best if you go armed with information too. Read about thyroids on about.com. They have one of the best thryoid information pages available. Symptoms of slow thyroid, or hypothyroidism, include difficulty, or inability to lose weight, fatigue, dry skin and hair, hair loss, difficulty concentrating, constipation, insomnia, general muscular aches and pains, a tendency towards carpal tunnel syndrome, feeling cold inappropriately, etc. The thyroid is a complex gland, and some people, myself included, can appear to be normal, but have a T4 to T3 conversion problem. It is hard to get a doctor to diagnose that problem, but you need to start with the most common problem of hypothyroidism, and see if that is why you are not losing. Insulin resistance can also inhibit weight loss. Montignac in his book, Eat Yourself Slim, says it can take up to three months to heal your pancreas totally. It figures then, that you may lose very slowly until that happens if you are at all insulin resistant. Where do you carry your weight? If you are apple shaped, then you may be insulin resistant, and will just have to be patient, for you will probably be a turtle loser. Try not to focus on the scale, but on the healthy benefits of eating SB. Hope you can figure out what you need. I know how frustrating it is to lose slowly. It has taken me four years to lose 40 pounds! And I have at least another 40 to go!

COUNTRY: Loved your ice cream eating contest! You are making memories! One of my favorites was the time my mom convinced my VERY uptight father to allow us kids to have a food fight! It was a riot! Hope I can get on the treadmill. I don't feel up to it right now...

JECRITES: That is great you found the glasses! Now come on, and tell us! Where were they??? Hope your older daughter is doing ok with the broken arm. Maybe they will let her have a pretty color cast! I have seen blue and pink ones lately!

FILLISE: I would have driven over to the airport to meet you Tuesday morning, but sounds like you are arriving too early for me! ;) When you come back, if you are getting in early enough, let me know. Maybe if you are up to it, we can work out meeting?! The banquet will be great tonight! I am sure! Good for you pushing off the pushy people, and knowing what was triggering you! You rock!

JACK: Go to the top of the screen, where it says User CP, and click on that. Then click on edit options. At that bottom of that screen is where you change your avatar. When I fix spaghetti squash, I just stick it with a fork all over, put it on a paper towel and bake it in the microwave until it is kind of soft and you can depress the skin with your finger easily. Then you cut it in half, scoop out the seeds and use a fork to kind of twist out the insides. How much you get depends on the size of the squash, but a smallish one makes more than I want. I like it with butter, and salt and pepper. My daughter loves it, and last time I had one, she showed up and asked me for some of it. She took the rest of it home with her! The thief! :) I only got one serving, but that is ok, since my younger daughter and husband do not like it at all!

KILLA: I don't have a very inspiring success story. I lose very slowly, but I have found SB the easiest diet I have ever tried. I feel good when I stick to it, and I know it is healthy, so that helps. Welcome to the board!

DEB: Hope all is well with you! How is your dad doing?

Ok, time for me to go do something. It may be going back to sleep! I will be back! (just like a bad penny, I just keep showing up! )

Bob ..((hugzz)) Sorry you are feeling yucky also. Spring colds are the worst.

Teresa WTG!! 6 pounds is great. I don't know about you but I don't care if it's water or not..6 pounds is 6 pounds. You don't have to be green with envy..can you believe that on some weight charts I am still over weight..ugh. I prefer fit day cause they say I am in range...:) How far are you from goal?

I had a busy but wonderful week-end. Seth's trip to the battleship was terrific. This was his first outing as a real Boy Scout, not just a Cub Scout, and he went alone this round. He got to do the flag ceremony and he told them he would only do it if he got to carry the Marine Flag, which he did. For those of you that don't know, my oldest son, Jordan has joined the Marines and leaves for boot camp in July. Seth is very proud of him and will miss him terribly. I got glowing reports from the parents that went and he had a great time.

But the highlight of the week-end was definitely getting to see Lyn (Yellow Rose) and her beautiful daughter, Carrie. We met them for dinner last night after they had had a whirlwind week-end of "shopping til they dropped". Carrie is as sweet and pretty as her mama. We had a wonderful, on plan dinner at this restaurant none of us had been to and had a great time. Carrie took some pictures that, hopefully, Lyn will be able to post in the near future.

BKM - I'm so glad to hear you finally were able to get a computer. Don't be a stranger now.

Gumbo - I thought about you the other day and wondered what had happened to you. Welcome back. I don't think we're going to make it to the Florida coast this year.

Gotta run and try to get some work done.

Have a good week everybody.

Oye Vey!

What a morning! I woke up to find MICHAEL on the computer-same place he was when I went to sleep. Poor kid is pooped! He's having trouble with this documentary he's doing, it's not copying on the computer as he wants it to, it stops almost at the beginning and freezes. This project is turning out to be a bigger deal than ever expected. On Thursday night one of his teachers has reserved the auditorium at the school for a private screening for the newspapers, TV stations, local politicians and Cuban political prisoners. He also is trying to get it done to submit it to the Childrens Film Festival which the deadline is tomorrow. Anyhow, once he gets home in about an hour, I won't be coming near this computer so I have to get in what I can in the next half hour before I have to leave to get him from school.

After I got the board up and running ( a bit late due to MICHAEL) I had to search the web to find an answer on why he's having trouble, so far, not having much luck. Anyhow, after, I did get in my walk, changed, rushed to the bank, then to pay my Mastercard bill then off to my yoga class, then to Publix then to come home and eat something, hadn't had anything (had some sf bacon a few minutes ago), and now, I have to get this post done before I have to run out and get MICHAEL (LAUREN has to be picked up at 6pm)

Tomorrow doesn't look much better around here either. Have to cart MICHAEL'S entries all the way downtown tomorrow, have to go see my Dad in the hospital (he's doing better, thanks for all of those who asked!:D ) have to p/u MICHAEL, then have to go to a meeting at the school and get LAUREN as well (she'll have to stay with me for the meeting) AND I have to make about 30+ phone calls to get my volunteers for the next round of IB testing that starts in 2 weeks and that I'm behind in doing. Somewhere along the route I hope I remember to breath!

PROUD MOM MOMENT: MICHAEL got another round of straight A's on his report card and LAUREN got all A's and 1 B - happy Mom:D

I am going to attempt to copy all the posts since my last "real" post and try to get on the laptop to retrieve it and type off line so I can catch up, I just can't get it done now.

Hope you all understand that I and my computer time is taking a major back seat through all of this that's going on. Not that I like it but honestly, his stuff has to come first, as well as Lauren's (though she too had to take a back seat this morning as well)

Good afternoon.

Hope everyone had a good OP day.

Going to the bridal store to look for shoes on the way home. Keep your :crossed: that I find some and they don't cost a week's pay.

Hope to get home quickly and get my walk and workout in. Only made it one night last week. But everything is back to normal this week, so I should be able to get it in.

TV, 6 lbs is awesome whether it's water or not. It still makes you feel good.

Monet, hope you are feeling better by lunch time. Maybe you just need to eat something light. This is when I miss saltines and good ole chicken noodle soup.

Bob, I don't know what we are going to do with you. If it's not one thing it's soemthing else. Do you take vitamins? Hope you are feeling better all around soon.

Trish, thanks for the report on your meeting with Lyn. Now we just have to see those pics. Glad DS had a good time. It's always nice to hear that they behaved and had fun too.

Deb, boy you are having a whirlwind day and tomorrow doesn't sound much beter. Congrats to Michael and Lauren on such wonderful report cards. You have every right to brag. Take care and breathe when you can.

Crystle, Thanks for your help and the avitar. It worked!

Have a great evening.

Hallo everone!

I am going to head out to a leadership meeting at church in a few. It is a dinner meeting. This is the first one I have been invited to, so I have no idea what kind of food they get. I hope there is something I can eat.

I got over to Costco this afternoon and picked up some much needed items. I did not get a few things done that I needed to however. I hope I can be alert enough to write the puppet scripts I need to get done when I get home tonight. I am sure Tom will be working late on taxes. :(

I will check in when I get home. Hope everyone has had a magnificient Monday!

DEB: I got that Uprisings book today. It has some interesting stuff in it. A lot has corn and honey, but that is something that can be dealt with. My only complaint is the handwritten pages; while they look real folksy, they are hard to read. Do you have it already? If so, any favorites?

Good afternoon everyone! Hope everyone has had a pretty good day.

Well, I got Katie to the doc and got her cast. She didn't want one though. Her appointment was at 10:30 this morning, and we didn't get the cast on until 12. They said that the doc was running slow. Every time I have been up to that hospital, the docs have been slow. It just makes me crazy since it's such a far drive out there and having to be back here by 3 to get my other girl off the bus. Oh well, we got it done and got back before time for the bus anyway.

Country, WOW!!! Size 7/8, that's so cool!!! WTG!!!!

Monet, Her glasses were in my bedroom under a lot of junk. We got the kids rooms cleaned up looking for them, but I had no clue that she took them off in my room. Needless to say, my room needs a good cleaning too! I am so not looking forward to doing that either. Katie, my 9 yr. old, got a blue cast. They only had white and blue on the base. She wanted blue to start with and I told her that we had to wait and see what color they have if they have any at all; military is cheap about some things. She's still not happy to have one on, but she'll manage. The hardest part is her school work, it happened to be her writing arm that she broke.

Hello to everyone else out there in the wonderful SB WOE!
Well I gotta go so I can start in cleaning some more on this house. Parents are coming up Thursday sometime, and got to get it all cleaned up. I'll check back later.

Jenn, so sorry your DD ended up with a broken arm. My youngest son, Seth took a dive off his roller blades the first day of summer vacation a couple of years ago and broke his arm. He would have been about her age. He was on a swim team and he was not happy about the cast thing either. Fortunately, it was a short cast (wrist to elbow) so he still had quite a bit of mobility and he got used to it pretty quickly. He thought it was pretty cool when all his camp counselors were signing it.

Haven't been on the board since Friday. Been busy with softball practice and all. I'm sore and sunburnt. Lovely combination. Never knew softball could be so much work. Even by stomach is sore. My face and neck are lobster red(even my ears, ouch). But I'm hanging in. My batting is ok, but my catching sucks. To be able to play at the field across the street, we had to agree to cut the grass and clean it up. So I cut grass for 2 hours yesterday. I drank lots of water, but for some reason I'm "holding" on to it. Yesterday morning I was at 194 and this morning I'm at 195 again. But my eyes are puffy so I think it's just fluid retention- besides, I burned ALOT of calories yesterday with cutting the grass and then 2.5 hours of practice. My goal right now is to get into a regular size 16. Right now I'm in a regular 18(they are getting looser though-woohoo) or a 16 Plus(women's). My new fave treat is taking frozen strawberries, skim milk, and splenda putting it in the blender- yummy. Well, gotta go hit the tub.

Monday Afternoon-- Just taking a quick break, so thought I would pop in and say hello. Been raining for 2 days now.....had to go to my Grandma's and dig raspberry bushes, and flowers. Had to get them before DH is laid up for so long.

I am trying to get everything done in the house today, so I can spend tomorrow at my Mom's. It is her Birthday. So I will spend the afternoon over there, and then cook up stuff for the rest of the week. (I had all of this done once!!) Need to hit the grocery store before I can do much cooking. It looks like "OLD MOTHER HUBBARD'S CUPBOARD" around here.
DH has to take a bottle of Magnesium Citrate tomorrow, so he will be stuck home. LOL.

Will pop in when I have the chance....hope everyone has a great and successful week!

Hi All: Today I did quite well - I had a salad for lunch, a sourdough english muffin for breakfast and dinner was a turkey, tomato and lettuce in whole wheat pita sandwich - with a diet vanilla coke - thought why not, lets splurge and have a diet soda! First day was very rough on the Glucophage, woke up at 5 a.m. and the potty was my best friend! Second day, started feeling somewhat better, Third day never knew I had a problem, today - up to two pills a day and no problem - so this is great! Have an appointment tomorrow with another doctor and I can begin the Yasmin, and with the two pills I should see some results to my problems! YIPPPEEEEEEE!!!!! Just have to be very careful not to look at the opposite sex too long, says I will be fertile again :joker:

Tomorrow evening's dinner is shrimp - bought fresh mayport shrimp and I plan to cook it up with garlic and pig out with DS on it - also plan to make a pan of Kibbee and an Israeli Salad - the salad recipe is from my new cookbook, 1300 Whole Food Meatless Recipes - sounds really delicious! I will give Serene some at work and let her post how it turns out....

Country - Thanks, I thought it was a really good inspiration quote too - one to start thinking and living by!!!! How did the turkey turn out tonight?

JackK - Did you make Spaghetti Squash tonight?

Monet - Do you take the Metformin for Diabetes or Insulin Resistance - do you have PCOS too? Boy am I nosy or what!!!!

Teensy - Hope you had a good day with that gardening!!!!!

Heart - Sounds like the softball is going to help you out a lot!!!! Good going!!!!! Healthy and Fun!!!

Jecrites - sorry to hear about your baby's boo boos!!!

Trish - that is so terrific that you gals got to meet again and have lunch!!!

BOB - Take care of yourself - and get rid of that resp. crud!!!!

TV - That is terrific - WTG!!!!!!!!!

Deb - Will the kids rub off on Zach???? His grades were good, but not that good! hahahaha Kudos to you and your precious ones!!!!!

Well must get a going - take care all and have a good OP night!

Monday Night Quickie!!!

Hi Friends! Just checking in very fast. We've changed my email/calendar/address program and so we've been busy all night trying to move all the old stuff to the new application. So sorry to get behind this early in the week. You all are already at PAGE 3 on a Monday night!!! That is awesome!!! Keep up the talking and keep up the good work.

I can feel myself starting to fade. My journaling has been very bad lately. I am going to go get in the bathtub and have a true confession in my journal. Hopefully that will put me back on track to doing what I know I need to do.

Anniversary weekend was GREAT! We really had a nice time together. It was good to not schedule anything else. The GARAGE IS SPOTLESS!!!! I am so proud that I even took a picture of it. Yes, I know that's weird. But it just feels so good to have it in order and looking great.

DEB, I had a nice talk with Janice on Sunday afternoon. She's really neat. She works downtown (2 blocks from Paul's building), so we will probably meet for lunch soon. Her office is nearby a nice little innercity park.

Gotta go. HUGS to all!!!

Just a quick note before I turn in.

The meeting tonight was a riot. We had to do a presentation, and my group was the spontaneous, engaging group. We did a skit. It was zany and got a lot of laughs.

The dinner was, as I suspected, not very good for SugarBusters. I ate the cubes of cheese, some grapes, the filling out of a piece of sandwich, and some salad. I ate one chocolate covered strawberry off the top of the birthday cake they had for one of the staff members. Oh, and I drank water.

I still feel kind of out of it...lots of rumbling going on in the GI track. I think it has something to do with my metformin though.

I am off to beddie bye! Will catch you all in the morning!

sweet dreams!

Hey all! It's one very very tired Susan tonight taking one last check of the email before I pack up the computer for the trip tomorrow. I'm packed (except for toilitries that I will use tomorrow).

The banquet was a success, but getting there was no fun. Everyone that promised me they would do something was at least an hour late--we barely got the last decorations on the table before the guests started arriving. From then on it when without a hitch and we raised a good bit of money. But I'm very tired and no worried I won't wake at 4:30 when I need to (I need to leave between 5:30 and 6:00).

Monet--My flight leaves at 9:20 am and arrives next weeK around 9:00 at night! You have to catch me early or late! ;-)

Hope everyone has a great week. I'll check in when I can!

Thanks for all your prayers and good wishes,

Hello everyone,

Today was pretty busy for me. I had to help my Mom get ready for a Dr. appt. and after the appointment it was such a beautiful day that we went to the library and then for lunch. It was the first time that she has been out (except for Dr appt). We really enjoyed it (except for the putting in and taking out the wheelchair everywhere we went). But, it's getting easier every time.

Killa: Welcome to SB. Everyone here is truely an inspiration. Ask anything and I'm sure that someone will be able to help you with an answer. I am considering myself a newbie even though I have been going off and on with this WOE for a while now. But I'm back on track and don't intend to stray again. It's too hard to take off those pounds that I gained back.

Country: Congratulations on getting into your 7/8 dresses. I just told Killa that everyone here is an inspiration and you truely are.

Jane: Don't get discouraged. I know that once you iron out all the little things you will start losing again. Do you like fruit? Triscuits are good with some salsa for dipping.

Jecrites: Great on finding your daughters glasses. Hope that you'll be able to get your other daughter in for her cast.

Fillise: Hope all goes well tonight and you get to relax a little and enjoy the dinner that you planned. Prayers will be coming your way and your Moms from me.

Jack-K: Glad the shower went well and that you daughter got all the things she wanted. I love Pampered Chef. Especially the stones for baking.

Tranquil: Your spaghetti squash sounds really good. I'm gonna have to try it cause I LOVE PASTA.

tv: It's terrific that you are motivated again. I think Quilter also follows WW and SB. Congrats on the 6 lb loss.

Monet: Hope you feel better soon. I hate that dragged out feeling. Yesterday when I got up I had a headache and felt like I was drugged. I just could not wake up. Today is much better. Glad you had a good time at your meeting. It sounds like you did really well with your eating.

Bob: Still praying that you get well and get some energy back.

Trish: I'm so glad that your visit with Lyn and her daughter was fun. I can't wait to maybe see some pictures.

Deb: Glad that your Dad is doing better. When do you hear about the Pathology report? Mom hears in the morning. I think it will be good news. Hope everything goes smoothly with Michael's project. It sounds really interesting.

Heartmom: Sounds to me like you don't have to worry about that pound of water retention. Being out there and mowing grass for 2 hours and then Practice for 2.5 hours....it'll be a very long time before I'll be able to do that. That's awsome. Be sure and take care of that sunburn though. It sounds very painful. Ouch!!

Teensy: Hope that you have a great day for your Mom's birthday tomorrow. It sound like so much work, cooking for a week, but in the long run, it would be great. I should be so organized. I think it was you who asked me how many carbs the nutritionist told me I could have. Well, 1 Carb Choice = 15 grams of carbs. I get 3 for Breakfast, 4 for Lunch, 3 for Dinner and 1 for evening snack. But... these are ALL carbs, starchy, fruits, veggies.. Also, as long as I don't go over 3 cups of raw non-starchy veggies or 1 cup of cooked non-starchy veggies per meal, they are free. I can have 6 ounces of lean meat, poultry, fish, lamb per day and 15 grams of fat. I have been following the SB WOE and this. I haven't been hungry at all.

Tranquil: Sounds like you are settling in with your new medication. I hope that all goes well at the Doctor tomorrow. What is the Yasmin for? Oh, and what is Kibbee?

Quilter: Glad that you and Paul had a nice time together on you Anniversary and that your garage is all in order. It does make you feel great when you accomplish something like that. Enjoy your bubble bath and journaling and get a good nights sleep.

Speaking of sleep, it's late and I have to be up early. So goodnight everyone.

What a dummy...I posted this on the exercise board by mistake....copied it over......

WOW, yesterday was so busy. I didn't have time to do anything! I was stuck at my desk all day and had to leave work early to drop my car off for service. I don't have a car for the next day or so....I hate that. I feel like a dog without her collar!

Well, last night I was good. I did not have any wine and I had a piece of chicken with a cucumber and tomato salad. I still didn't feel well so that was just enough. I feel much better this morning.
Today I have a salad with deli turkey and some cheese. I did bring bottled ranch dressing. I want to use it up. I am going to make my own from now on. I love homemade dressings better anyway.
I am going to have some meatballs on a WW bun tonight. At least that is the plan. God only knows what my husband will have. He will probably have spagetti. I will drool!
I can't make it to Curves much this week without my car so I plan on walking. It is lovely out today so I will hit the neighborhood tonight.
I want to work on my scrapbook too. I don't know how you all do it. I don't have kids but I feel like there is never enough time in the day! I would be a maniac if I added kids to the equation

Well, my plan today is to stay away from all illegal foods if possible. I had a question. Some of you talk about eating sourdough bread. Is this legal? Isn't it white?
I also went to Bread and Circus last night and found some cheese sticks. This is the nutritional data......130 calories (3 sticks), 6 grams fat, 0.5 fiber, total carbs 14g., protein 6. The ingredients say it is "unbleached wheat flour". Legal or not?
You know I love my snacks!

Hopefully today will be quiter than yesterday and I will have a chance to check in on all the posts.

Later.

As I whoosh by...

Only have a minute, should of been in the shower long ago, have a ton of things to get done.

Was able to copy the posts but wasn't able to get on the other phone line to get the computer up and going so I could work off line. MICHAEL was still having trouble with this project. Mommy to the rescue! I put out a plea to people on the web, one gentleman e-mailed back. MICHAEL called him and was on the phone for at least a good half hour. The phone didn't stop last night either. Woke up at 2am he was still working on the computer! The guy gave him some ideas and he was able to get this project done. He went to bed around 4am! He's happy with the outcome. I'm happy with the outcome AND that this guy helped. Found out he lives in Calif., had no idea. Thank goodness this is done, otherwise it would of been disaster many times over as now, not only for the film festival, but for the preview they are doing at the school on Thursday. He tells me someone is flying in from Wash. DC to come to this. Gosh, I hope this is good! I won't see it til Thursday! We even got a Cuban bakery to donate food for 65 people.

I know I won't be here for chat tonight, and I'm sorry. Not only do I doubt that MICHAEL will be on the computer anyhow, but I have a meeting at the school I have to be at and I'm afraid it will be a long one tonight.

I really have to run. Please bear with me during this week. I don't even think we'll be doing a Passover dinner tomorrow night because of all that's going on this week! It's crazy around here.

Will do my best to check in when I can!

Good luck with WIW tomorrow!

Just stopping in for a quickie. For some reason, I haven't felt much like sitting at the computer:(

It's going to be lovely today--around 80+!!!! The forcasters are watching a storm that may bring us down to 35 on Thursday. What's up with this weather :?: I'm hoping to get out in the yard today to do the spring clean up. I took a look at my roses yesterday, and I'm not too sure what's going on with them.

I've been doing good with my eating and water. Haven't been on the elliptical, but yesterday, in addition to my 2 walks to and from the school, I walked over to the bookstore just to browse. I saw about a half dozen copies of Montignac's Eat yourself Slim. I know it's difficult to get in the States. I was at our big bookstore "Chapters". I think the website is: www.chapters.indigo.ca I actually ordered my copy from www.amazon.ca

FILLISE--I'm sending good thoughts for you and your mom. I'm sure things will go well.

TEENSY--When is your DH's procedure? I'm sure things will go well with him too.

BOB---Goodness Girl! You're in a real bad way. I really hope you're feeling better soon.

Ok, I'm outta here to enjoy our one day of summer!

Good Tuesday Morning.

Hope everyone is happy and ready to face the world today.

Well I found a pair of shoes. Went to the bridal place. Just got a pair of pumps (Boy does that word date me) already dyed. Best of all, when I went to pay for them, She told me I had a credit of $34.00. She couldn't figure out why, but heck I'll take it. So the shoes ended up being free. Someone was looking out for me.

Did get my 3 mile walk and wts in last night. It felt good to get back in a routine. Now just hope I can continue it all week. I have a million things to do this week after work.

Gonna try the spaghetti squash tonight. Hope it turns out and we like it.

JECrites, Glad DD got the cas she wanted. Is it only for 4 weeks? School will be almost out when she gets it off! What a shame (not for her I guess) that it is her writing hand.

Heartmom, sounds like you are getting lots of exercise with cutting that grass and practice. Use some sunscreen.

Tennsy, I will say you are prepared. Cooking up your food ahead of time. Good for you. Hope DH goes on this time and is successful.

Tranquil, I was sure getting hungry reading about your lunch and dinner. I haven't had bf yet. No, the spaghetti squash is for tonight. I hope. I couldn't find any sauce this morning. So if I remembe to take the jar that is here in the office home, we will have it. (came in a Christmas basket). Good foryou getting a walk in.

Sef, I have had that same problem with logging in. Filise told me I got voted off. We were playing Survivor

Kim, Now don't fade out on us. It is so easy to let things slip and then they drop off, one by one. I hope you got journaling in last nite.

Monet, Considering your choices, I think you did very well at the dinner.

Sheanne, glad your mom is doing better and I'm sure she enjoyed getting out in the beautiful day.

Jane, Glad you are feeling better today. Your dinner sounds great. Why drool over Dh eating spaghetti. You can have ww spaghetti or 100% duram semolina. Granted 1/2 C is one starchy carb, but plan for it and have it. The word unbleached is a no-no. I haven't been able to find sourdough bread that is not "unbleached", but others have. Just have to read labels.

Deb, I can't believe you got Michael's problem fixed over the internet. You are one resourceful lady. Glad he got it all completed. I'm sure it will be a success.

Zanne, Glad your eating an water has been good. I think 2 walks to school is great exercise.

Bob, Hope your shoulder and head are better today.

Have a great day. Be back later.

DAMN! So Unbleached wheat flour is not legal? AAUUGGHHH!

Ellen
04-15-2003, 11:46 AM
JANE: No, unbleached wheat flour is just white flour that has not been bleached. You want 100% whole wheat flour that still has the bran and nutrients of the wheat kernal still in it. Wheat has a rather high GI even if it is whole wheat, so I try to avoid it and use other starches for my starchy carbs. For snacks, try triscuits, or Ak Mak crackers. I try not to eat snacks much, but when I do, I have a handful of peanuts, or a piece of fruit, or if I am really hungry, I will have veggies and dip.

I just finished up writing three puppet scripts. They did not take as long as I thought they would. I don't know why I procrastinate so much! Sigh.

I am off to the outlet mall in a few. I want to see if I can find a set of Corelle ware I like. I need new dishes. Mine have gotten old, worn and look terrible. I like Corelle, since it wears well, and is so sturdy.

This morning, I thought I would be fine, but I am really tired again. I may have to take half of a metabolic booster pill to keep going all day.

Will check in later and get to personal replies.

Morning everyone.

Hope everyone's day is going well so far ( I know it's early yet, LOL). After being off the exercise wagon for so long, I finally got back on and walked for about 35-40 minutes with my neighbor last night. She called after dinner and it was great to get outside and walk.

Tomorrow night, I'm having dinner with a childhood friend from out of town who is here for a few days attending a training class. I'm sure we'll have a great time. Haven't decided where we're going yet, but I'm determined to keep it legal and yummy.

Gotta run, I'll try and check in later. Have a great day everybody.

Posting because I feel a moment of weakness - stressful day at office along with TOM is lurking around the corner trying to make me miserable! There are danish and bagels downstairs!!! I brought in flourless bread for toast this morning ....had that with my meds....at lunch time I leave for the doctor and having someone in the office bring me a salad while they are out and unsweet tea....

Kim - Glad you had a wonderful anniversary weekend!!!!

Monet - send me one of those metabolic boosters too :)

Jane - So sorry you found out !!!! Yep, bleached is a bad, bad word, unless it is to clean house or clothes :)

JackK - well let me know how the squash turns out - must be one of those delicious gourmet sauces from your Xmas basket? yummy..... I will get another walk in tonight too - have told DS that from now on, after dinner we will be taking a nice walk together....

Zanne - hope the weather remains pleasant and the storm passes you by!!!

Deb- "Break a Leg" for Michael!!!!

Jane - How do you like Curves? How many times do you go? It is only 30 mins? Are you happy with the results? Enquiring minds want to know, hehehehe

Sheanne - Pasta is my weakness - used to be that is - and the spaghetti squash really helped me get away from starchy pasta! You need to try it - it is really easy!!!!

Kibbee, MidEastern dish - Lebanese - ground meat, cinnamon, bulgur wheat, salt, pepper, garlic and chopped onion baked like a meatloaf and tastes great if you serve it hot with some low fat sour cream and a salad!!! The Yasmin is the B/C pills they want me on to help stop the cysts on my ovaries - supposed to be wonderful for women diagnosed with Polycycstic Ovary Syndrome...

Fillise - YEAH!!!!! Great Loss!!!!!

Well got to finish up my work - Have a good day!!!

I try to go to Curves at least 3 times a week. It has been hard to do that the last couple of weeks though. I have not lost a single pound and I don't feel my measurements have changed either. I haven't had them measure me since I joined though so I can't really say. As soon as TOM is done I am going to have them do it.

Also, the wheat flour was unbleached not bleached...is that still the same? I just gave the ones I brought to work to a friend! I waved goodbye to them as they were leaving my cube

I know it's not Thursday yet but I though this recipe was too cool..it comes from a new cookbook I got the other day called 500 LO CARB RECIPES by Dana Carpenter. It's called:

Fried Cheese

2 to 3 tablespoons olive or canola oil
1/2 cup to 3/4 cup shredded Cheddar, Monterey Jack, or
jalapeno Jack cheese

1. Spray a small, heavy bottomed, nonstick skillet with nonstick cooking spray, and place over medium heat.

2. Add the oil, then the cheese. The cheese will melt and bubble and spread to fill the bottom of the skillet.

3. Let the cheese fry until it's crisp and brown around the edges. Use a spatula to lift up an edge, and check whether the cheese is brown all over the bottom; if it isn't, let it go another minute or so.

4. When the fried cheese is good and brown, carefully flip it and fry the other side until it, too, is brown.

5. Remove the cheese from the skillet, drain, and lie it flat to cool. Break into piece and eat.

Yield 2 servings, each with 1 gram of carbohydrates, no fiber, and 11 grams of protein

HOW TO MAKE IT INTO CHEESY BOWLS AND TACO SHELLS

For a tasty, cheesy, tortillalike bowk, follow the directions for Fried Cheese, until you get to Step 5. Then remove and drain the cheese, but drape it over the bottom of a bowl to cool. When it cools and hardens, you will have a cheesy, edible bowl to eat a taco salad out of.

You can also make a taco shell by folding the cheese disc in half and propping it partway open. **Be careful when handling it, though; hot cheese can burn you pretty seriously.

HiedieHo All!

Was up early and did some crocheting while it is cool. I did some last night for a bit but even with the A/C on that afghan gets pretty warm. I still have my northeast blood! Still not used to the heat!

I registered to go to Hammond for a seminar tobe presented by HFHI. Fortunately I am going with someone else as I have no idea of location although they will send diections when they verify application. It better be good, costing me $20! Which I don't begrudge. I just have to watch my pennies. My grandma always said "Watch the pennies and the dollars will take care of themselves."

SHEANNE: I read your post about your Mom's WC. I spent years working with patients in WCs. I used to take them on outings where we would have 5 or 6, plus the ambulatory patients. In those days the chairs were huge and cumbersome, now there are smaller lightweight chairs. (Belive me, that was such a relief on the back!) If your Mom doesn;t have that type check it out. It will save the muscles. When I think about it it, no wonder I have a bad back.....built a house size addition on our house with a kid on each hip, took care of two huge yards, and jockeyed patients and wheel chairs! That of course was when I was younger, I reitired in '93.

JACKK: They must have changed their minds and voted us back in 'cause here we are!

TRANQUIL: Flourless bread? More info please!

Well, better take a shower. Then I have to do the HFH minutes. Just thought I'd check in.

Take care, Shirley

Crystle I can't believe it....I just was t Amazon and was looking at this book "500 Low Carb Recipes" I was going to come on here and ask what everyone thought about it. I would love to get this book.
Tell me more about it if you can. They don't use white flour in anything do they?

Boy, I am on this board a lot today! Yesterday I could barely get here at all...............

Question, Where do I get Agave? I tried a couple of natural food stores yesterday and they did not have it. Are there other options in recipes?

I LOVE this book. All the recipes are SB friendly....and at the beginning of the book it has an ingredient list. Some I've heard of before and some I haven't. I got it when I joined a bookclub online. There are no pictures...but tons of super recipes. There are several for spiced nuts and punpkin seeds that sound delicious....and of course at one point I am going to make the parmesean chicken wings...yum yum

Well back to eating lunch. This salad looks sad now thinking of all those recipes...LOL

Good day everyone!

Had a pretty busy morning, just now got on the computer. Had to go to the grocery store. Been doing more ding dang laundry, with 5 people in the house it's really hard not to have any laundry.

Oh, I forgot to tell everyone this. Friday when I was doing all that running around, I met this guy who told me he was diabetic. He was looking in the candy asile at that. Anyway, I told him to check out SB and it would help him a lot. He said he would check it out, and even asked me about it again later when I saw him in another section of the store. I hope he checks it out. It was such a good feeling to know that I may have helped someone even if it was to just tell him about the book. I know the other book is better, but since it's hard to find, I told him about SB.

Trish, Isn't it funny how kids think they are invincible? Of course it's not funny when they get hurt, but they really have no fear. Her cast is a short on too. I was glad of that. She keeps saying that she was stupid to jump off the stairs, and we keep telling her that she's not, and things just happen but she should have listened and not done it. I'm really surprised that it took her this long to have something broken, she plays really rough and wild. Hopefully she won't break anything else in her life.

Heart, You sound like me. I'm in an 18 too and they are loose and I'm looking forward to those 16's fitting and getting loose too. WTG on your 18's being loose. You'll be in those 16's before long with all that softball and grass cutting!

Jack-k, Yeah, the doc said they would take her cast off in 4 weeks and do another x-ray and if it's healed like they want then she won't have to get another one. Really hoping that 4 weeks is all she'll need.

Ok, ladies, I'm off to finish up this house. Still have a lot to do, not as much as when I first started, but enough; sweeping, mopping, dishes, laundry, all that junk. I'll check back later.

Good night everyone. My husband is on his way to get me so that we can pick up my car. I am so happy. It didn't end up being as expensive as we expected. What a way to spend your tax return.

Anyway, I have made up a menu for the week and am really pleased. I am below 1200 calories for each day. Deb suggested I stay about 1700 calories for the day. I am afraid to eat too much though. I usually allow myself extra "space" in case I eat more than planned. Which is typical for me.

I am going to have to purchase some Agave somewhere. I tried to find it on line but had no success. Deb?

Tomorrow is WIW but I am not expecting to be down...in fact with TOM this week I may be up. I am a little discouraged that the weight isn't melting off me but I will hang in there. I really need to buckle down and do this. No screwing around anymore. I wore a short sleeve shirt for the first time in the season today and I am appauled at how fat my upper arms have gotten! YIKES! And they are so white to boot!

I will check in with you all tomorrow.

Have a good night all.

Just passing through ....

Got to finish dinner for my massage therapist. Then make dinner for the family. I am making shrimp stir fry, and brown rice.

My son in law's computer screwed up this morning. He had finished his taxes and was waiting to send them off. Now they have to be redone completely, because they can't get the info off their computer. He had to go to work tonight (he is a chef) so my daughter is trying to figure it out. Thankfully, her father will be home in a little while, cause I don't know the answers to any of her questions!

Be back later!

Good afternoon,

The board is not as busy today.

Heading home. Have to drop off the flowe girls dresses to the seamstress to be hemmed. One of the girls is wearing hers for her 1st communion the week before the wedding. Sure hope she doesn't get anything on it.

Got to go get a grill and pickup up some gift for my nieces for EAster.

Somewhere in there I need to get my walk in and my wts. Maybe I'll walk while dinner is cooking.

Will try to get to chat tonight, but not for sure. I have a lot to do and no telling what else will come up.

Got to run. Good luck to everyone on the scale tomorrow.

Evening everyone!

Just thought i'd let everyone know that my Mom does not have cancer. It was such a relief today at the doctor. She was so scared this morning she was sick to her stomach. Thanks everyone for your thoughts and prayers.

Well, I have been walking all this week, cut I can only do 1/2 to 3/4 of a mile. My back starts to ache and then I have to get home. Last night I did the 3/4 mile so it was at least a little farther.

Tranquil: Kibbee sounds good. So does the spaghetti squash. I will try it.

Deb: Glad that you were able to find someone to help Michael. Sounds like you are one busy lady right now. Don't forget to sit down for a second and count to 10, take a deep breath and relax.

Country: The "Fried Cheese" sounds yummy. Unfortunately for me, it has way too much fat. So.. enjoy some for me. K? That cookbook sounds really interesting though. Maybe, I'll see if I can find it.

Sef: The wheelchair that my Mom has is one of the large ones. She is renting it for 3 months. I'll have to check about these lighter ones. She still has 2 months to go and we could be out walking in the mall :) Sounds like you have so much energy. Building an addition with small ones in tow. I would have loved to build an addition on our house or do some renovating. My ex-husband was someone who "new it all", would not do anything with "what he knew" and wouldn't let me do it alone "because I couldn't possibly know how to do anything". So, now I'm by myself doing what I want and doing it all pretty well. Even if I do say so myself.

Anyway, after hearing about the fried cheese and Kibbee and spaghetti squash, I'm getting hungry. Guess it's time to prepare dinner.

Everyone have a great evening.

Hi All:

Sheann - Every bit of exercise is a good thing - even if you can do only 1/2 a mile - just do it every day that you can and you can see that it really adds up! I am taking it very easy right now!!! I am walking in the evenings, but not pressuring myself where I hurt myself, been there and done that last year - not going through the pain again :(

Crystal - I am going to have to find that cookbook - Deb started me on a cookbook frenzy - I have 3 books on their way to me from EBay, as well as I just won 3 books! hahaha I am now becoming a cookbook junky!!!! Thank you for sharing the recipe.

Jane - I am sure you might feel much better after TOM - once that is over get measured and let me know if you like your success!! I have been thinking of joining with them - but want to see how others are doing there first ....

JackK - Hope you find a grill...I am waiting for ExH to get over here and put my new gas one together that he promised to do over the weekend!!! Still waiting - hopefully tonight and then tomorrow I can cook the turkey legs I bought for dinner tomorrow night!

Jecrites - 5 people = that would definitely be a LOT OF LAUNDRY!!! Even if the man does not take you up on SBers - maybe everytime you might run into him again at the store, he will see how successful and healthy you are getting - and change his mind to be healthier too!!!

Well - I have the kibbee in the oven and it smells good - along with garlic shrimp....ds had to have shrimp too....and I decided no salad because that is what I had for lunch, so I am having yellow squash steamed with some seasoning....

Will walk tonight as well - Ta Ta everyone!

Sabrina - oh dr. gave me the meds without a problem and I lost 3 pounds since Thursday's visit - and my scale this evening was even lower again!!! Phewwww it is coming off!!!!

Hello All!

ItÕs Tuesday Night and IÕm desperately behind on the board. So sorry. My new battery came today for my laptop, so IÕm on PaulÕs machine right now. DonÕt know how long this will last. I can at least type while heÕs eating. So if I miss somebody (and I will), please understand.

By the way . . . my eating was terrific today. I stuck right with my plan. Again, I can not say enough good things about this journal of mine. It really helped me. Last night I gave myself a good talking to. Changed my color of ink to RED, because I was definitely in EMERGENCY statuss. So today went well. IÕm back to taking it one day/one meal/one moment at a time. Tomorrow I have to go to a BORING all-day training. But at least I can pack my lunch, so I donÕt have to be at the mercy of some catering company.

DEB---I loved that first motivation you shared with us. I LOVE the idea of every step we take on this journey to be precious and worth celebrating. I also LOVED what he said about each of these steps make the end result that much more valuable. Thanks! I needed to hear that. Congrats to Smarty Pants Michael. HeÕs so good!!! Also glad to hear that dear dad is doing well. ThatÕs got to be a tough operation to recuperate from..

MONET---Thanks for your words of encouragement that we all feel proud of ourselves. I like the idea of getting a well-deserved pat on the back! I hope your tummy is better by now. I know mine was illinÕ all last week, and it feels so great to have that over for now. IÕm not surprised you need new dishes. As many people as you feed on a regular basis!!! IÕm surprised they arenÕt falling apart in your hands.

COUNTRY---I am doing the happy dance for you that you fit into those once too-tight dresses. That is so great! You deserve it with all the walking youÕve been doing. IÕm so proud of you for sticking in there. You are a lesson to us all. That ice cream eating contest sounded fun! What a fun fam you have! How many kids do you have?

JANE---Hang in there, my friend! Perhaps you are at one of those dreaded plateaus. They are heck while you are in the middle of one, but there is another side. Ride it out/donÕt give up. Also, maybe you should look at some of your other areas for items of success. How are your bras feeling? Any looser? Rings? HowÕs that red line around your middle . . . getting any paler? Those are all excellent signs of success. I think your sewing room and my craft area look exactly the SAME!!! ItÕs embarrassing how many unfinished projects I have. Oh well, thereÕs always tomorrow. Right Scarlet???

FILLISE----Sounds to me like you hit the target on your low period. You are SO SMART for thinking this through and finding the root cause. WTG!!! You are woman, hear you ROAR or confront or stand up for you!!! IÕm proud of you. I hope everything went well for your mom. Thought and prayed for her this morning on my way into work. {{{HUGS to you and her}}}}}

JACKK---I wish I could say that things will lighten up before the wedding, but IÕll wager they will stay at this breakneck pace up until the ceremony. Even with all the hecticness, it is an exciting time for you and your family. DonÕt forget to stop and spell the roses! You can tell your grandbabies about it some day. HowÕs DDÕs weight loss coming? Is she still on the specific diet? Yes, our anniversary was wonderful and the garage is spotless!!! I even took pictures and showed them off at work today. Can you believe that??? Crazy, I know! I love your new avatar. ItÕs perfect for you!!! BTW, donÕt worry . . . IÕm not fading out. I appreciate your kidn words of encouragement. ItÕs knowing that you did it, that will make me stick with it. I am no where near my goal yet. In an effort to see the Òsilver liningÓ I am glad at least that even though I had a set-back, it was minor and I didnÕt get all depressed and defeated. So maybe IÕm finally starting to learn something!

TRANQ---Loved the quote you shared yesterday. ItÕs hard for us to do sometimes, especially you moms when others are calling for help and assistance and a ride someplace.

TV---I count WW points too. I think it works well for me. I needed a place/ceiling so IÕd know I should be done eating for the day. I tried doing Fitday but that seems like a lot more work to me than journaling and keeping track of points. Listen . . . a SIX POUND LOSS IS A GREAT LOSS. Who cares what itÕs made up of??? Just take it and embrace it and make it yours!!! WTG!!! You are doing so wonderful! IÕm glad to see you back online with us. YouÕve been missed!!!

SEF---Love your new avatar!!! ThatÕs so good and perfectly depicts you!!!

SHEANN---Hey, I would have loved to share your morning of the library and lunch. I LOVE the library!!! Our legislators had a vote last week and it was apossibility that they were going to cut MAJOR fundings for the OH libraries. We all had to send off emails to all of those govt. officials. Fortunately, they voted in favor of the libraries. Yippee!!! LetÕs hear it for the good guys!

Okay, kids!!! ItÕs time to give back this computer to its proper owner. So IÕm sorry I missed so many. But I do feel better. Take care. Good luck tomorrow. I feel like IÕll be up. This morning I was up a pound, but who knows??? I certainly donÕt deserve a loss.

Later,
Kim

Hi everyone...today I had one more cancer screening test at the cancer center in Calgary. So far everything has been clean.
This is such a miracle for me since last year I was told that my cancer could be treated but never cured...can you believe it!! Today my onocologist said my clean test results are truly a miracle!!! Now if God was kind enough to come through for me on this one, I owe him the favor of treating my body as the treasure it is. I encouage each of you to say something kind to yourself right now!! How about..girl you are really a terrific person and let's have some fun today. I never expect to be perfect in my food intake, but I can get pretty darn close...
For all that are dealing with cancer..please never lose hope. I know I have ambled on too much about my former condition and have to relearn how to be a cancer free person. I also have been feeling a lot of survivor's guilt. So many that I met taking treatments have not lived. It doesn't seem fair...but now it is time to go on. Bless you for your patience and prayers. Now kick my butt and tell me to stop whining and start living.. Have a good week gals... lori:moo: :moo:

Well it was nice to get on chat for a bit!

Lori - Congrats on being cancer free - that is wonderful! And I don't say that lightly - I really do think that is fantastic!!!!! Keep up the good work on taking care of yourself and keeping yourself healed!!!!

I am headed to bed - I have my grill put together now and Friday will be my big first time grilling night and from thereon every night - hahaha

Tomorrow I will take some kibbee to Serene to try and she can be my taste tester - though my ds and his dad thought it was pretty darned good - so hopefully it will pass the Serene guinea pig test and then I will know I have the recipe down pat!

Well it is late and my bones and muscles are sore - night night all - and hope you all have a good weigh in tomorrow morning...I dont plan on weighing in but you never know...might change my mind and confess to my weight gain - hahahaha - though it is rapidly going back down, phewwwww, hate to see the scale bounce up instead of down! Depressing....

Take care, Sabrina

WIW report----

Weighed in at 190 this morning which is down a HALF pound from last week. I'm surprised. Thought I'd be up. Also that puts me at 14 total.

Sorry I missed chat last night. I have been trying to get in bed about 9:30. Is there anyway we could start the chat a little earlier for those of us early birds? I realized we'd miss the west coast people, but if I knew there were others who could/would get on about 8:30, I'd join in. Just a thought. No biggie if it can't happen.

I've got an all-day seminar today. Keeping my fingers crossed that it's not snoozeville. It's on evaluating programs. Uh-oh. LOL

Good luck to all the other weighers.

Hi all. WIW was a maintain for me. Still hovering right around 160 :( My eating and exercising are good though, and I feel good about that.

I just can't keep up with this board--you guys are busy. I feel bad writing when I can't respond to everyone so I end up not writing at all. I did get to chat last night with a few of us so that was fun.

Country-have you tried the fried cheese?

Sheanne-Great news about your mom. She must be walking on air. It sounds like you are better off without your ex. You are taking of your needs and he is not around to criticize.

Tranquil--that is so great that you are losing!! Is there a recipe for kibbee somewhere? What happened to your "handyman" who was going to put your grill together? I guess it takes a woman to do the job.

Kim-Happy Anniversary! I hear the warm weather has made it to Ohio--enjoy. I love your new avatar too. The scale is moving in the right direction--so happy for you.

Lori-Glad to hear that the tests are coming back clean. You are such an inspiration--thanks for all the wise words.

Deb-glad to hear that Michael got his movie done. What is the subject again? Happy Passover!

Jackie-how was the squash? WTG on the free shoes--an unexpected gift. I guess you will be so busy now until the wedding. I hope you remember to save some time for yourself. I love your avatar.

Have a great Wednesday--remember to treat yourself as well as you treat those around you.

WIW

Looks like I am down one this week. Maybe two, but I will count it as one, so next week has a headstart! :s: Wish I had a consistent scale so I would know for sure the total, but my scale has been so messed with, I have no idea where I started out on it. It all started when my dear son in law 'fixed' it for me while I was on vacation...... sigh.

I spent a good bit of time at target practice yesterday. It was fun. Since both my girls are fascinated with my bow, I am having to work very hard to maintain my aura of 'expert'! :) My arms and shoulders are sore today. Guess that is somewhat of an upper body workout.

I have a good bit to get done today. As usual, though, I will probably not get it all done. Yesterday turned into a disaster when my daughter and son in law started having trouble with their computer. He had to go to work, and she ended up doing their taxes over here. Translation: she freaked, and her FATHER did them! What they got worked out was not as good a refund as her husband had gotten worked out. Oh well! They are done and filed on time.

Will be back later!

Had fun in chat last night. I haven't been to chat in a LONG time.

It was over 80 yesterday--I had shorts and a tank top on and bare feet. Today is going to be around 40 (or lower :( )

Today I'm the same--168. I'm surprised I'm not up. It's the end of TOM and I haven't been exercising for over a week.

BUT--last night I climbed on the elliptical and did my half hour. I didn't go at any record speed, but I did it. Now I have to just keep it up.

I have to admit that I had a handful of chocolate chips a couple of days ago and yesterday 2 cookies. I'll blame the TOM hormones. But that was all I wanted and stopped at that. I really haven't wanted anything really sweet the past couple of weeks, except for at this time.

I hope everyone has a good WIW.

Gotta go get the munchkin ready for school.

Hey All:wave:

Wanted to get in a quickie before I went out for my walk. I'm running late due to trying to get some press releases out for Michael to vairous organizations as well as the Mayor of Miami-Dade and the City of Miami. I saw the head of his magnet that he's in in school last night at the board meeting I went to and she said she saw his piece and it's fantastic. Another teacher, the one who's helped coordinate this, saw it 3 times and said it was wonderful. Another teacher, his art teacher, along with another student cried. I can't wait to see it! Here's a copy of his press release in English, I cropped a few items out just in case there's some wacky people reading this board:

****FOR IMMEDIATE PRESS RELEASE****FOR IMMEDIATE PRESS RELEASE***

For many yeas the Cuban exiles voices have been left unheard. Generations have forgotten about the struggle of the people. The struggle over ideals. The struggle over freedom. Finally, the silence has been broken and the voices will cry out like never before.

Two *** high school students, Michael N. and Romina R., have created a film in response to a challenge addressed in their English classroom by their teacher Susan **** when reviewing The Book of Embraces by Eduardo Galeano. Susan ***** openly questioned the author’s intent in the book: “It’s not only what the text means or how he is trying to say it, it’s about what the message in the text is and what you are going to do about it.” Little did she know, these two students would take her seriously.

The film documents with personal interviews the lives of former political prisoners at “La Casa del Preso” located at **** S.W. 13th Ave. This is an organization, which consists of former political prisoners who continue their struggle against the Castro government and other governments around the world that infringe on Human Rights. The organization also houses political prisoners that have no family members in Miami and are in need of hospitality.

The film destroys existing cultural bias in presenting through the stories of nine former political prisoners, the contemporary history and continuous hardships of the Cuban people. “It’s the story of people like my father, like my uncle, like my grandparents. The film tells the story of many ordinary Cubans who stood up for what they believed in. It’s all about what a system does to a great mind. We just tried to tell a story,” Romina comments.
There will be a private screening of the acclaimed student documentary “La Casa del Preso,” a production by iMaJiNe Entertainment © 2003. The screening will be held at Thursday at 7pm.

Michael N. articulates, “’La Casa del Preso’ is representative of a manifold of things: It is a movement rising up against barriers. It is growth. As the stories progress, so does a more profound understanding of a society all-too-unfamiliar to many. Their scars become your own.”

I am going to get my arse on the street before I change my mind. I'm hoping to get in a post when I return. I doubt I'll be able to catch up, but I'm hoping to at least get in some sort of decent replies.

Toodles

 Stayed the same (170). THE SCALE IS JUST NOT BUDGING! Confession time..... I never told you all that I take Celexa which my doctor said is not helping my weight struggles but unfortunately I cannot stop taking it right now. It is the only thing that has worked for my panic attacks in years! I am glad to be rid of them for the most part and if it means I have to have a few extra pounds on then so be it. I am hoping to be off the med in a few years if all goes well.

On a lighter note, I bought the cookbook "500 Low-Carb Recipes". It is awesome. It has so many recipes I am dying to try. I haven't gotten a cookbook that I am that excited about and feel I will use in a long time.

I have my menu made up for the week and I will hope to see some progress next week. If I do not I may make an appointment with my doctor yet again and ask about my weight. They always just say it is the medication or the old "you just have to eat less and exercise more". They never seem to take me seriously! And yes I have had my thyroid checked so many times over the years I can't even count. It always comes out fine.

Today, I have chili for lunch and I made the cheese chips from the cookbook. Can't wait to have them. What a treat. I used low fat cheese but still feel like they are too fattening.

The weather is gorgeous today but it is going to start raining later today and the temp is going to drop to about 30 and rain all day tomorrow.:( I am going to have to try on last summers skirts and capris to see if any of them fit soon. I have been putting it off. I may do it tonight and just get it over with. If they don't fit you will all hear about it tomorrow!

Have a great day.

Good Morning!! Thought I was lost again, didn't you'll?? :) It was hard, but I found my way back to the board finally! :D

Been going to therapy for this shouder pain..doesn't seem to be helping much. Still waking up in pain every morning. Manage to make it through the day with medication, but my work does not help matters any with the lifting that I do.

Sorry about being away so much. I feel like I really NEED to be here, but I'm doing so poorly with this WOE. Scale still up. I just need to lift myself up by the boot strap & give myself a good swift kick. Don't know what else to say except that I'm just not doing well with the eating. Alot of cravings. Eating the wrong stuff & too much of it. It needs to STOP!!

Deb, Read your MM message & it sure hit me. I can whine all I want, but unless I take the reins & do something about my eating, then the problem will not get better. Thanks...I needed that message. Today is a new day & I'm making another attempt, today & everyday till I get it right again! Saw your post about Michael's project & was sweating it with you, hoping that it would get down in time. Whey! That boy came through again! What a champ! He's something to be proud of & I can hear your pride in your posts. Great job on grades too from him & Lauren! Congrats to both! Saw something about your dad having surgery? I hope all is ok. You sound really busy.

Jackie, Congrats on being in the Over 100 lb Club!! That's wonderful! When is the wedding?? Sounds like it will be soon.

Welcome to the newbies on the board.

Hope WIW is nice to everyone. I'm down 2 lbs from the past few days, but still 10 lbs above my lowest wt.

Got to go. Jodi has a doctor's appt this morning. We will finally get the results of her Pap. Praying really hard that it's going to be ok. She's over 4 months along now & felt the baby move for the first time day before yesterday. I'm trying to crochet, but it's not easy with this pain in my shoulder. I need to finish this one so that I can do a PINK! :)

Will try to check in later. Sorry I could not finish reading the posts or respond to more. Got to run.

Happy WIW.

Sure hope the scale is good to everyone today. For me it was down 2. Got to a new number today, 154. Just hope it holds.

Didn't get to do my weights last night and probably won't get them in the rest of the week. Did get my 3miles walk in. But that's over for the week too. I have to quit beating myself up when I can't fit it in. There is just too much going on for the next 3 weeks and I just need to accept that and do it when I can. After the wedding I will get back into my routine.

Tried the spaghetti squash last nite. It was ok. Not the same as pasta but tolerable.

Had my Dr visit with my rheumatoligist today. I was down 10 pounds since my last visit. She was happy. Blood pressure was up 150/100 and she started talking about meds, but didn't prescribe anything. I will have to go back on the methotrexate as I have alot of inflamation again. She eally wants me to take the shots. I just don't know if I can give myself a shot. No way Dh could do it. The needle doesn't bother me, it just the fact that I am doing it to myself. Will give it some thought.

Ran into a neighbor last night at Target. She had asked me last summer how I had lost my weight and I told her about SB. Haven't seen her since and she did it and has lost 60 pounds. It felt good to know I had helped someone.

Enough about me.

Sheanne, what wonderful news about your mom. Congrats.

Tranquil, it is so great that the meds are working for you. It will really boost your confidence and keep you going on the right track. Hope you get that gril together. DH wanted one assembled, but we had to get one in a box. Probably take forever to get it together.

Kim, glad you are back to journaling and feeling great about yourself again. There will be minor setbacks, that is life. We just pick up and go on. DD is doing great. She is down 13 pounds. Her dress zipped up much better yesterday that 3 weeks ago. She has it altered tomorrow so I hope she doens't lose too much more before the wedding. But I hope she continues afterwards. She is too young and pretty to be overweight. I have realized that things are not going to get any better before the wedding and I can only do what I can do. I didn't get my wt training in last night and probably won't the rest of this week. I can't worry myself about it. This wedding will be over soon and then I can get back into my routine. Kim, I would do chat earlier. 24 comes on at 9 and it's my favorite show.

Grin, It is such a blessing to be cancer free. Don't feel quilty. You have been given a second chance and you should treasure every second of it. I truly believe your attitude about it has a lot to do with your remission. Eating right also helps fight off that horrible disease. So just another reason to do this. Congrats

Lin, maintaining is good. Don't worry about jumping on here and posting w/o responding. We don't care. Just hearing from you makes us happy.

Monet, Congrats on the 1 or 2 pounds. Sure that target practice counts as exercise. You got sore muscles to prove it.

Zanne, Those harmones will get you every time. Saying the same can be a good thing. Doesn't this crazy weather drive you crawzy. They trick you with warm weather and then take it right back.

Deb, How exciting for you and Michael. I know you will be beaming when you get to see the piece. I truly think he has a future in film making. One day his name will be rolling on the credits and then an academy award.

Jane, Don't get too bummed out about staying the same. We all want to lose quickly. But it just doesn't happen that way. Don't get discouraged. All of a sudden it will move.

Melf, get yourself back on here and stay with us. You can do this. But only you. You have to want it. Prayers for your DD's test. How exciting to feel the baby. I bet she was delighted. Hope your shoulder gets better soon.

Congrats to all the losers today. Everyone else. Hang in there and next week will be better.

Good morning everyone.

I haven't had a chance to weigh in yet today, but I'm guessing that I'm still the same. Will check it a little later, if I remember that is.

I've been so busy working on this house this week I haven't had time to get my WATP video done. I'm almost done with it though, but with my parents coming up tomorrow, I still probably won't have time to do it. Geez, it sure does suck to have to go through all this crap and get rid of stuff for the move, and then have to put everything else up so the house will be decent for people to come in here. I've managed to get 1 to 2 rooms done a day, and then some laundry in between that. I'm done with the laundry now though, thank goodness.

Sheanne, That's wonderful news about your mom. I know all of you are so relieved to hear the good news.

Tranquil, I do hope that man does at least looks at SB. He was telling me something about some stuff you have to get checked with diabetes, (don't know anything about it because I'm not diabetic), and that if the numbers are above something or other then you can go into kidney failure, (I think that's what he said anyway). I was still so excited when he said he would check it out. Maybe I'll see him again on Friday when I go back to the store and I'll ask him if he got a chance to look at it.

Now I'm off to get most everything else done, and I have to run out to pick up some plastic Easter eggs for the 6 yr. old for school tomorrow. See y'all later.

I am blessed to see a new low this morning 150...that's down a pound from a couple of weeks ago. Last week I was up a tad but too vain to post. :) This has been a really good month weight wise. First major loss in about a year. But more than that I'm starting to see small changes in my body.

Zanne...Tranquil...and Lin...I truly enjoyed getting to chat with ya'll last night.

Jack-K WTG! You are doing soooo good. Even with all the stresses of the wedding you are sticking to plan and continuing to lose.

Deb...how very cool for you and your son.

jecrites...enjoy your parents. That work out tape will still be there when they are gone. Plus working steady on housework is also a form of exercise...as long as you keep moving you aint eatin' :)

Melf.....down is good. Those other pounds will come off. I think we all go through spells where we eat things we shouldn't. Praying this will be your week to get back OP and you'll have the strength to fight those cravings.

Jane...hang in there....even with the meds you will start losing..I think it makes it harder but just think...when it starts coming off the pride you will have for sticking with it and putting up with the extra work.

Monet....WTG great loss this week. I think it's too cool your kids are excited about your archery too. It's a super family sport.

Lori...thanks for the encouragement. I think saying something nice to ourselves is a great idea.

Well it's time to get my bootie on the tread mill before I make an excuse this morning not to do it. Mid week seems to be the hardest day sometimes.

Love,
Crystle

HiedieHo All!

Tried to get on several times last night and kept getting a popup that this site had performed an illegal operation. This morning is fine.

Usually go to choir room on Wednesday mornings but my stomach is acting up so am staying home.

JANE: I used to be able to get it at the local HFS but when it was no lonmger available I went online. I get it at St. Patrick's of Texas Brewery Supplies.

SHEANNE: Hooray for your Mom's good news! Sometimes people call the lighter WCs "Sportweight". I really did have a lot of energy in the old days. THat's why I get so frustrated now, I still have the vision but not the ability. My DH thought I could do anything, as a result when he passed away I was able to do chores some women couldn't. A neighbor's DH died and she actually didn't know where the gas went into the car! Heck! I could change the plugs and oil! You will do fine.

QUILT: I love the avatar too, Thanks to Crystle.

GRIN: We often forget that miracles DO happen! How wonderful for you that they do!

DEB: WOW! You have every right to be proud. Micheal's project is wonderful!

I think I will have to give in and buy a nother scale. I think I did better when I had the scale to help remind me of my progress or lack of it. Maybe tomorrow when I'm out and ablout.

Take care, Shirley

Morning once again!

Back from my walk and stinkin! Glad we don't have smellavision!!!

Yes, life is a bit hectic around these parts lately. I'll be happy when this all over and done with and have MICHAEL back to normal and possibly have the computer free. I go to sleep he's on it, I wake up, he's on it. Even when he's not physically on it, he's on it!

Today I have to p/u some flowers that are being donated for the reception table. Unfortunately, I am to be the one who has to put some sort of an arrangement together-flowers are NOT my speciality! Then I have to take MICHAEL to get a pair of black pants. His friend ROMY's Mom bought him a white guyabera, a Latin shirt that they wear, but this one is a long sleeve dress shirt. ROMY is wearing a black one with white paints to match. Have to p/u sodas, paper goods and the like. Tomorrow will be the hectic day getting ready for this event.

Eating has been wonderful though I haven't been on the scale I do feel my fanny pack a bit looser. Tomorrow is mid-cycle for me and I know if I got on the scale it would be up just because the time of the month so I'm going to wait and see in a few days. My water hasn't been as good as it was, just being forgetful but I'm working on trying to keep it up.

ELI is off today but has a meeting til about 1pm. I think we'll try to go to dinner today, can't do our usual things up in Broward due to it being mid-day AND having to get the kids at school, at different times.

Anyhow, enough of me, I really need to try and catch up with the posts and I'm going to try and work on the posts since Monday...

COUNTRY, CONGRATS on a new low!!!! What great news to hear!!! Look out 140's here she comes!!!! I hope you took some pictures of the kids eating the ice cream, sounds like they had a good time and you had a good time watching them. What a fun thing to do! CONGRATS on getting in to those 7/8 dresses! You must of been feeling awesome. You've really come such a long way girlfriend! You know what makes this board so awesome, the wonderful people who make up this board, people like you:D

JANE, hoping you are feeling better, physically and mentally. I'd be happy to send you a sample of a daily menu but like you, I do not eating veggies, something you rarely see on my journal list. Something we both should try to work on;) SF jello is okay but do watch that you don't eat the whole thing, even with stuff like that, moderating is still key. Popcorn was at first a big no-no due to the high GI, but recent findings say you can eat 2 cups which has a GI of about 55. Again moderation. I personally can't eat 2 cups. I eat the whole bag usually, so I try to stay away from it. If you do eat it, try to go for the healthiest alternative. I buy BEARITOS no oil lightly salted. Hope that if we make it up that way this summer there could be another SB MEETING!!! If you ever need to delete or edit a message you've posted, just go to that post and hit EDIT, to delete, mark of the DELETE BOX and submit, to edit, just do your changes and then submit it. SOURDOUGH is legal, but do be careful what's actually added in to the bread. There's one here called RUDY'S that's all natural whereas others have sugar, cornstarch etc. I rarely eat it due to it not having any fiber worth mentioning. I try to eat high fiber breads. As for the cheese sticks, unbleached flour is white flour. Sorry! As for the agave, it's better if you can try and find someone in your area to buy it from or to order it for you, by the time you pay for shipping the cost get's really high. Do you have maybe a food co-op in your area? I know TRISH mentioned a new supplier, but the only one I know of is SWEET CACTUS FARMS. If you aren't losing I still think you need to up those calories. How below 1200 are you going?

JEC, glad to "see" you found DD's glasses, what a relief that must of been for you both. I can't believe DD's arm is broken! That's terrible. Is it the arm she writes with? I missed it, how did it happen? Your trips in the car back and forth seem to mirror what I have to do many days. 4 times up and 4 times back from the school on Monday, Tuesday and Thursday this week - it sucks! Sucks gas!

FILLISE, how's your DM? How'd the cath go? I hope all is well. How'd the banquet go? You have so much going on, how do you do it? Wish you were around to help out tomorrow, you'd probably know all the right things to do! Good for you for not taking out things on yourself. I use to do that all the time before SB, one of the reasons I stayed fat. A problem arose and it would be fixed with food, for that nano-second. Thank goodness that's one problem I overcame. Sometimes the urge may strike but it usually doesn't get fulfilled.

JACKK, first off, CONGRATS ON THE NEW LOW!!!!! OMG, you are just wasting away! How'd you figure out the avatar? I love seeing that-you deserve to opst it and post it proudly, under your name. I'm sure as the days go by and the wedding gets closer you're going to be feeling overwhelmed, and rightfully so, it's a big day for your DD AND for you too. Is your boss up to giving you a little time off? My DM gave me some last week and I just threw some cheese on it and heated it up-it was already cooked! LOL!! Oh, I've made it before, as mentioned, prick, place in a little water face down in dish, nuke until soft and scrape it out. I like using it as spgti as well. Glad you found the shoes - sure can't beat that price! Glad to hear your Dr was happy with your latest loss since seeing her. I couldn't give myself a shot either, but that being said, if it was push comes to shove...That's great your experience helped another person-kudos to you! Girl, in Yiddish, there's a phrase, which I'm sure I'm not spelling right, but phonetically, it's al livi (like olive-i) which means, "from your mouth to God's ears." I just hope and pray whatever MICHAEL does end up doing that he'll be not only happy but successful as well. We have nicknamed him Shteven Shpielberg!

TV, glad to see how elated you are! CONGRATS on a great loss! I think combining SB with the points is a great idea and many people do it, they eat SB and just use the points to keep track-it's a great combo! Good MM message, thanks for sharing AND for sharing your renewed commitment to this WOE!

MONET, hope you are feeling less icky today. For some reason, I think in your house you'd find so many good things to eat that you'd never be at loss of what to eat-just my impression:) The PB FLOUR, contact JASON at EXPANDED PANTRY at Toll Free: 1-(877) 276-3663. So far, I like it. I haven't tried it in any baked goods YET, but I sure will. The UPRISINGS book is different, not sure if any other version is different. There's some good sounding recipes in there but I haven't made a single one. Let me know if you do though, would be curious to know what you think! Good loss this week-CONGRATS!

TRISH, that's so cool that SETH got to hold the Marine flag. I'm sure he was so proud as you must of been as well. I'm so glad you got to see ROSE and meet CARRIE AND have a wonderful time as well! I'm dying to see the pictures!

TEENSY, do check the web for pedometers as well, you can sometimes find them a lot cheaper, like I found my new Walkman. OMG, that's a wonderful idea to remember for a baby shower with the diaper, I love it! Hope you and DM had a good time celebrating her birthday:D

AGAPE, I can so sympathize with your dilemmas of no money AND with having freezer problems. Mine's not broken but so many times people haven't shut the door (Michael in particular) and everything's defrosted! It's outside, summer heat and it happens quickly. I've had to throw out a lot of food, it came to a point that I took money from his account to teach him a lesson after the 2nd time it happened. He's a lot more careful nowadays! I'm glad you have good friends who came to your rescue in a time of need!!!!

TRANQUIL, dying for Carrabs the other day, so I sliced up some eggplant and made my own eggplant parm. Of course, not as good, esp. with me making it, but not a totally awful substitution. What happened at the Dr. visit yesterday? You'll have to remember all your cookbooks when you come!!!! Not too long away!!! Hmmm, is there a little bit of Lebanese in you too?

BIGK, was so glad to see your post and hear that you were able finally find a computer!!!! You'll have to tell me about the Starbucks ice cream-ELI brought home a coupon for free container-which is the best? I love coffee ice cream. Won't get it any time soon though, I know all too well what will happen. Thank goodness the coupon is good til next year! Any idea when this will all be final?

SHEANNE, what has the nutritionist given you as far as a food eating guide plan? Just curious to know. I saw an afghan somewhere on the web that was a flag, it would be great for a service person. Gosh, I haven't crocheted since I was a pregnant with MICHAEL I think, and I didn't finish the blanket I started. Do you know, I've gone more to the library since starting SB than in my entire life! You can find some great old books that have many SB LEGAL recipes in them, not to mention great videos to rent! What wonderful news for you AND your DM to know she doesn't have cancer-THANK GOD!

QUILTER, JANICE called me the other night and we spoke for quite a while. She seems like a nice lady that's not only trying to help herself, but more for her DH who has so many problems. I'm sure any help and tips you can provide her would be greatly appreciated. You'll have to let me know if the two of you meet up! Sounds like you had a nice anniversary cleaning out the garage:^: Did you and PAUL go out for dinner? Glad to see you got out of that little funk! CONGRATS on your loss this week-you are doing so good. Can you just taste the 180's!!!!!

LIN, do you think you'd do the 10K again? I thought I'd do the WDW marathon again, but after I got back in to exercising afterwards, I just can't see me doing it again, it seems I just got slower and slower. I have to make up my mind now though, the deadline for entries is coming up fast. If I don't, at least I can say I was able to do it at least once in my life! Don't worry about how much you post and to who, you do what you can-we all understand people have lives. MICHAEL's documentary is about 9 Cuban political prisoners that live here in Miami. Can't tell you more than that right now since I won't see it til tomorrow! Thanks for the Passover wishes-just feels like another day this year though, we aren't doing anything. With Dad in the hospital and sister's kids being sick, kids both working on stuff, it just didn't come together this year. Bad Jew!

ZANNE, glad to hear you had a nice bday and got a nice present! Glad you got to OUTBACK for dinner-we haven't been there in a long time - hmmm, ELI mentioned dinner tonight, maybe Outback!

GRIN, thanks for the geography lesson. I only know Toronto and Montreal but hope to one day get to go to Edmonton/Alberta - I'm dying to go to the mega mall one day!!!!! Girl, don't come to Miami, that will burst your bubble of all the states being so nice. Can you tell I'm not crazy about it down here! What great news and strides you've made with your health. I do believe miracles can happen! You've proven if there's a will, there's surely a way!!!!

SEF, you are too much, with all you do, how tired you are and then you post that you are going to vacuum and dust! You need a good, relaxing vacation, but knowing you.... Is there a copy on the web about those weight loss articles you saw in the paper? Would probably be interesting to read.

GUMBO, welcome back!!!

ROSALIE, I wish I could make the almond granola but I know me and I know I won't be able to control myself. Swi
