GOOD MONDAY MORNING EVERYONE!

Will post my usual morning post sometime later, but wanted to make sure I got our
MOTIVATIONAL MONDAY done early in the morning, so here's my contribution for MM, there's 2 of them to read today:

JUST GET BACK UP

There's a powerful technique for success that's also very simple and accessible to everyone. It's something anyone can do, but something that far too few people actually practice.

It is simply to get back up quickly anytime you fall. Whatever may have happened to stop you or to distract you, just go on past it -- the sooner the better -- and get back in the direction you were headed.

That sounds easy enough, and it is. Yet all too often, precious time and energy are wasted on anger, self pity, resentment, regrets and frustration. None of those things will provide any value to anyone. The thing to do is to just get back up and get going again, quickly and confidently.

And there's a bonus that comes along with practicing such a technique. When you know that you can quickly get back up, you're not afraid to fall. And when you're not afraid to fall, you'll be much more willing to take on the difficult challenges that will create real value for yourself and others. Be willing to just get back up and by so doing you can go wherever you desire.

-- Ralph Marston
**************

WHAT YOU EXPECT

Don't lower your expectations to get them into agreement with your reality. Instead, lift up your reality so that it meets the very best of your expectations.

It can be tempting to accept less from yourself than you're capable of achieving. But that does not do anyone any good. Your highest expectations are yours for a reason. They're yours because you know that, even though they present a challenge, you're capable of achieving them.

Your expectations send a strong message not only to yourself, but also to those around you. Let that message be a positive, confident and enthusiastic one.

When things don't turn out as expected, that's no reason to change your expectations. Rather than changing your expectations, the thing to do is to change your approach. There is a way to achieve precisely what you expect. Expect the best, stick with it, and you'll get there.

Hope everyone had a good weekend!

I've managed to stay down at 169, but we'll see what WIW has in store:devil: I went shopping on Saturday and bypassed the chip aisle again! DH is going thru withdrawl, I think! I had the munchies last night and sat down with 2 oranges (bought a box of 30! they're sooo good) and was still hungry, so I had a few triscuits with some homemade salsa. DH had the same and then kept eating the triscuits.

I survived our friend's birthday. He's not really a cake person, so his wife just bought mini-cupcakes. I had only one. She also put out nachos and I only had a few of those. I just kept my water glass full. That helped a lot. My habits are changing!:smug:

I'm "announcing" this here so I will keep accountable--I'm starting my fitness program today. I found something that really appealled to me in Muscle& Fitness Hers. It's cardio and weights. I can do the cardio on the elliptical and the weight program is very similar to what I was doing last summer(before taking a nosedive from the exercise wagon:( ). So if you don't see me posting on the exercise board, please, SOMEBODY give me kick in the hiney!

Somebody was asking about my eating olives and feta (QUILTER?). It's spicey black kalamata olives that I just eat when the mood strikes me (I get them from a "serve yourself" section at the grocery) and the feta I'm using on Greek salad (my fave). I also made WW crust pizza and put feta on 1/4 of it instead of the usual mozzerella. I didn't want to do the whole pizza that way in case the family didn't like it, but they did!

DEBELLI--Your MM "Just get back up" is very coincidental. That was the advice I gave to our newest member GRIN. I've been "getting back up" a lot lately. But I find that the faster I get back up, the smaller my falls are getting.

GRIN--Again, welcome to the board!

Well, gotta go get the day started. It's gonna be a busy one!

Happy Birthday to Beth and Yellowrose tomorrow!!!

I am being slammed with out of town company so have been absent from the board. I missed everyone over the weekend. A friend of mine flew me to Cincinnati to celebrate her inheritance -- had a reunion with 5 other friends from Ohio. I was only there for 24 hours. I ate SB legal stuff, but probably too many snacks, and too much wine. I thought of you Quilter. One of my sons is here from OHio too. I will be lurking, though, if not posting.

Zanne-will be looking for you on the Exercise Board. WTG on your choices at the birthday party!! I bet you felt so good when you woke up the next morning and realized you could do it. I have not been buying chips either. Not too many complaints from dh so far.

Good Monday Morning Everyone:wave:

Ahhhh, it's nice to be back to normal!:D Okay, let's not debate that one!

Just got in from my walk/jog. I wasn't going to go out and then realized the threat of rain was NOT a good excuse. It's windy out there, black clouds, BUT on a better note, it's no 93 degrees like it was on Saturday due to the empending rains AND it being black overcast. Also, with it being Monday and having a new resolve I just KNEW I had to get out there and start the week out right. Got my 4.5 miles in in 53:49-not too bad. Also, with a new week, and the start of another SB YEAR I broke in a new pair of sneaks I bought about 2 months ago and would you believe it, not a single blister!!!!!!!!! That's very unusual for me but boy, was I happy. If time permits later today I'm going to make a new music tape for when I go out.

As mentioned, a new resolve. The first MM message today is taken very personally. I gave myself a license to pig out this weekend. You'd think as I hit the 3 year mark I'd not do such a thing, but I did. Oh, don't get me wrong, I'm paying for it dearly and I knew I would when I decided to allow myself to do it, I'm bloated beyond recognition, my pants are tight, I'm definite the scale is up and my skin is itchy, but I'm not stressed over it, not upset, just decided I was going to do it, did it and today, back on track and starting another year on SB:D BTW, thanks for all the good anniversary wishes and esp. to COUNTRY for making such a nice banner for me!

Last week was one of the most hectic weeks I've had of late, esp. the weekend. I'm sorry I wasn't around to post as I usually do and truly hope this week will be a lot better. I don't have much time at this moment to go back through last weeks posts to reply to them all, but I did skim the boards when time was available. If I missed anything that anyone posted for me that was of importance would you please post it for me again, or e-mail it to me and I promise, I will reply to it promptly.

THIS WEEKS CHALLENGES: We continue on with our 3 day a week exercise challenge. Since this is the last week of the month I'm hoping we can increase this challenge in one way or another. Either making it 4 days or having everyone increase the time that they exercise-any thoughts? Also, our water challenge and getting in at least 64oz of water a day continues as well. I'm hoping after this week and having done this challenge for the month of March, this no longer will be a challenge but instead a small change in your every day life that you see benefits you in so many ways that you will continue doing. Has anyone stayed off the scale since last Wednesday and won't weigh til WIW this week? That was the challenge from last week. Okay, so, this weeks challenge is taken from last weeks poll. I have to admit, I seem to be the only soul that took the poll that usually has no veggies. I'm actually quite proud of everyone, it seems many of you are veggie eaters/lovers-unfortunately, I am not. With this, I'd like to challenge you all to post at least 2 days this week, the veggies you ate throughout the day. If you have a food scale, please post the ounces. If you measure a portion out, like in 1/2 cup servings, post it as such. I'm hoping to benefit from this challenge myself and get my veggie servings up as I rise to the challenge. Anyone up for it? Please remember, future challenges we have coming up with involve needing a cloth measuring tape as well as a food scale-any kind will do, doesn't have to be fancy.

I have yoga class today. Hopefully it won't be cancelled. One of the parent's who proctored for me is going to go, though I've never met her before, it will be nice to "know" someone there.

Hoping BOB & FILLISE to get meet up. Wish I could make the trip, so close yet still so far:(

ZANNE, wow, that's a huge box of oranges! ELI bought a case of FAVA BEANS yesterday, 30lbs worth. Good going on the eating habits changing!!! That's what I'm working on as well, even though I've made it to goal, I still have food issues I need to work on dealing with. We eat lots of olives and feta in our house as well. We figure as long as we have pita, chick pease, tahini, olives, lemon AND garlic, we're good to go in our home, never have to worry about what to eat!

LIN, OMG, you went to CIN for only 24hours? What a whirlwind trip that must of been. What did you do while you were there? Too bad you couldn't meet up with QUILTER, so close! Enjoy your guests. I truly understand about you not being around much this week, went through the same things myself last week!!!

MONET, that's something (losing license) I would expect from MICHAEL on day one. He's lost his school ID each year, and this year, it was only 2 weeks in to school when he lost his. I refused to pay for another one, so he had to. I just can't imagine giving him the keys to the car, much less him getting his license-he can't find his way around the block. His mind is on too many other things I don't see where he will be able to focus on driving which needs his full attention! I figure by the time he gets his license and has a year of driving with a restricted, he'll be going to college and won't be driving there (that's for sure), so it shouldn't be much of an issue. I'm not so worried about LAUREN, she has a great sense of direction and seems to focus on everything when it comes to driving. I feel she'll get her restricted before MICHAEL will. Did your DD call the Waffle House to see if they possibly found it?

AGAPE, good advice to give GRIN! Hope you find the computer working better for you. How's the reading coming along?

BOB, you must of bought your OXY at BB&B. I'm still waiting 12 weeks later for the company to send me my $5 rebate - you think it was coming from China instead of Florida! I won't do another one til I get this one. What do you use the oxyclean for the most in your home?

SEF, you're right, I will miss doing this when the kids are all on their own, but given how it was this past weekend, I felt that time couldn't come soon enough for me. Just now, MICHAEL called me up to ask me to go get him some photo paper before I got him from school this afternoon-more running in the car. I've been having to fill up the gas tank everye 2-3 days!!!

JACKK, hope you've solved your computer whoas. What caused it to crash? Hey, how's DD doing on her diet? Thanks for the congrats. Ditto to you and the rest of the board, what would I do without all of you????

GRIN, another peice of advice, if you can get MICHELE MONTIGNAC'S book EAT YOURSELF SLIM, do so, it explains this WOE in better detail and I highly recommend it. It's OOP so it's not easy to find these days, so it seems, but do check your library, they may have a copy to check out.

MIATA, hoping no one comes home with dirty laundry, they sure as heck won't be coming home for a good cooked meal!!!! MICHAEL wants to leave not only home, but the state to go to college. LAUREN, she has time and hasn't even thought about anything like that yet. Just a little over 3 years and the nest should be empty and then I'd like to sell this nest and move somewhere else. Somewhere where I could be closer to say, a TRADER JOES!!!!!

TEENSY, good for you on the exercise. I don't do it on Saturdays, that's my day to "run" around to garage sales. I try to do Sundays but wasn't in the mood yesterday. How far are you from Seattle? Here's a bit of info on SPAGHETTI SQUASH from KAREN'S KITCHEN website:

Spaghetti squash is amazing. Measuring 8 to 14" long and weighing about 4 1/2 pounds, little is known of it's history. It's taste is similar to summer squash, but that is the end of comparison. You cut it open, remove the seeds, bake or steam it and it's meat comes out in long strands that look like spaghetti, so it makes a wonderful visual replacement for our high carb, high glycemic old pal spaghetti. Top a huge pile of spaghetti squash with one of the many pasta sauces out there and be ready to feast on a fresh, naturally al dente strand that let's you have 16 times as much of the lovely squash as you do pasta. In 4 ounces (100 grams) this marvel of nature has only 5 grams of carbohydrates as opposed to 1/8 cup of pasta. So instead of 1/4 cup (or 1/2 ounce dry) of cooked pasta for a single serving block, you get 7 ounces of cooked spaghetti squash PER SINGLE BLOCK. And as it is with all floppy kinds of foods, it is better to WEIGH your portion than to try to stuff it into a measuring cup.COOKINGTo bake it, split lengthwise and remove the seeds in the central cavity. While you CAN bake it whole, it is very painful trying to hold it still to remove the seeds when everything is 350 degrees and you are trying to dish it out to serve it hot. Bake it hollow side up. The riper the squash, the faster it will cook, but figure about 30 to 40 minutes for a halved squash to bake.Check to see that it is baked by piercing the flesh with a fork. It should be soft and the flesh should separate into fat spaghetti-like strands. Avoid overcooking which will make the flesh become bland and mushy. It is best when still slightly crunchy, as it is 92% water. You can also microwave it, preparing it by slicing in half, removing seeds and then cooking each half for 6 to minutes. Most cookbooks will tell you to cover it with plastic wrap to cook it like this, but don't you dare unless you are fond of adding plastic to your blood stream. Soft plastic especially will slightly melt and let off plastic toxins that will flavor your foods and mimic certain hormones when they get into the blood stream as xenohormones. Some scientists suggest that these plastics in our foods are the reason for larger feet, larger breasts and lowering the onset of puberty by 4 years across the United States. Instead, cook it on a microwave safe glass plate with the cut side down to retain the moisture inside the squash. You can freeze raw, grated or cooked spaghetti squash, but be advised that it makes it less firm and pre-measured amounts will thaw out to smaller serving sizes.Besides your traditional spaghetti sauce, spaghetti squash is also excellent with a buttery flavored olive or nut oil and grated cheese, a pesto sauce, a cream sauce or even an onion sauce where the onion is sautéed in olive oil until reduced down to strands of sweet, golden onions and served with herbs to flavor. A dash of nutmeg with olive oil and butter is also an amazing way to savor the delicate flavor of spaghetti squash.

I do believe you can eat it and not worry about it:D

Okay, gotta jump in the shower and get ready for yoga. Will check in later. To all I didn't post a reply to, I send out BIG HELLOS!!!!!!:D

Good morning everyone.
I am happy to say that I have gotten myself back on the exercise wagon. I did my tapes, and I feel great.

I wore a dress to church yesterday that I haven't been able to wear in nearly 5 years, talk about exciting!!!!!!

My weekend was pretty good. We had and still have great weather, so I got out and took the kids to the park Sat. Now if I could only get them as interested in cleaning their rooms as they are at going outside I'd be doing great. It looks like a tornado went through their rooms.

I'm not able to get on the puter much over weekends, (hubby takes it over). So you'll mainly see me through the week, and if I am able to get on during a weekend, I'll be checking in.

Well, that's all I have for right now, be checking back later on.

Ok, that wasn't so bad. Just finished a half hour program on the elliptical. I've got 32oz of water in already.

DEB--Congrats on your SB anniversary. I've been here (on and off) for about a year and a half, and I can really see a positive change in your attitude. Like you said today, you allowed yourself to pig out on the weekend, but you got right back up on the wagon today. If I'm remembering correctly, you used to be afraid you couldn't get back up on the wagon if you slipped. So things have changed for you. The oranges are really good and were only $5.99! Can't pass up a bargoon!

GRIN--to add to DEBELLI's advice about Montignac's book. I have seen it here in Toronto at Chapters and Coles.(don't know if you have these stores in BC) When I checked a week or so ago, it was also available at amazon.ca (but NOT on the American amazon site). Maybe we're lucky and it's only available in Canada.

Ok, off to post on the exercise board!

Hi everyone.

I'm back and on the wagon. I don't really know what happened to me there for a couple of months... I've been battling some more female issues and thats just had me in a tissy:^: Can you believe that after my hysterectomy last year that now I've been put back on birth control pills again??!!! I had problems with that 1 remaining ovary and the bc pills seem to have straightened that out so I guess I won't complain - better than more surgery and going into full blown menopause I guess.

I'm going to start tanning today. That always makes me feel better and helps me concentrate on how I want to look. I haven't even stepped on the scale in a month and don't want/plan to until I've been doing SB right for a week or two or I can tell that my clothes are less snug.

I always do better when I'm active on the board, so I'm back - for the duration this time!!

Love,
Teresa

Good Morning All: I am here for a moment, work is crazy!!! My parents are visiting and I am enjoying the time with them! I am eating on program as well - and I have finally weighed myself this morning and glad to say that even though I have not been on board I have lost some more weight - I am down 258. I am happy - but still have a way to go to get back to my lowest again...but perseverence! Hope everyone has a really good day!

HAPPY ANNIVERSARY. I missed that post last week. You should be so proud of the 3 years. I am in for the challenge with veggies. I emailed you my picture last week, but I got an error message back that you eren't accepting messages from my server or some such nonsense.

Thank you for your warm welcome ladies... I will try to find " Eat yourself Slim". What a wonderful title! You seem like such a close group and I have looked at many of your tips in previous posts. I love hearing about the little victories such as jecrites fitting into that dress:dancer: I agree that only a permanent change of eating will work for me. I've had a brief talk with my onocologist and he has heard from colleagues that the SB plan is terrific. He even promised to buy and read the book. It is hearbreaking that the world is in such turmoil. However I truly believe that we can all make a difference by treating those around us with kindness and love. This has to start from within... Be wll my sisters and have a terrific week...Lori:df: :df:

Good afternoon Gang

The board has been slow today. Nothing going on with me. Had a nice weekend. Mostly spent watching ballgames. I just love March Madness. DD got home from the Bahamas. Glad to have her home. Glad to send her back to college  Spent 2 hours with her in emergency room. Her foot has been bothering her for a year (I don't believe in Dr's. Make them wait to see if it heals itself first) off and on hurting. SHe said she heard something "pop" last week. So we went. Told her if they didn't find anythign wrong, she had to pay the deductible. You gotta understand, we make a lot of these "nothing" trips. Couldn't find anything, except maybe tendonitis. Take advil, etc. Probably due to the high shoes she wears.

Sat my back started aching. Didn't do anything. Just walked in the house to the potty and went to sit down and whoa, the pain went right through me. Sat on the heating pad all weekend. Still bothering me. Hopefully I will be able to do some exercises tonight. Gonna try anyway.

It is 75 here, a little windy, but still nice. Will try to walk some tonight.

Enough on me.

Zanne, good luck on your exercise program. I hope you like it. Now post on the exercise board.

Lin, what a nice friend. Gla dyou had a nice time and was still legal.

Deb, good for you out there walking today. What a way to start your new year. Glad you are back on track. I still think that is a very important thing to learn. Go off, but jump back on track and continue until the next time. As long a they aren't too close together. I am proud to say I haven't been on the scale yet. Hey I take these things seriously.. Was tempted this morning, but will hold off. I will attempt to post my veggies, I don't usually weigh them. DD has lost a total of 6 pounds so far. She is a little discouraged. The ad says be 3 dress sizes smaller by April 30th. Don't think that will happen, but any amount off is better than more on. My computer problems are assocaited with the UPS software. Sometimes it's fine, other times it crashes. I saw in our paper where we are getting a Whole Foods here next year. Can't wait. You will have to give me a list of things to get there. Did make a trip to Wild Oats and got some more pot pies.

Jcrites, congrats on getting into that new dress. That is such an good feeling.

TV, Welcome back. Glad to see you are back on track and ready to go. You are right, posting on this board really helps alot.

Tranquil, glad to hear from you. Congrats on the loss. You will be back to your low in no time the way you are going. Enjoy the time with yur parents.

Grin, I'm glad your Dr. agrees with this WOE. I truly think it is healthy and something you can do forever.

Have a great day and evening.

Good Monday Afternoon all--

Cold, dreary, and windy here today. Will it ever be spring? I would like to walk some more....but am a fair weather walker. I just can't seem to get warm today. Seems like all I have done for the last few days is sit and watch CNN.

Zanne--I still have to buy chips for my hubbie, but after almost 2 years, it doesn't bother me. That was really my downfall, not really sweets. Just give me a bag of Lay's potatoe chips and I was happy. We just bought a box of oranges at Costco, and boy are they good. While doing PP I had kept my fruits limited to strawberries, and melon, so I am in heaven with the apples and oranges. They taste so sweet and yummy. I think you will do just fine with your new fitness program. You will become rejuvinated.

Linworthlady-- Enjoy your company and ds, and post when you can.

Deb-- Thanks for the info on the spaghetti squash. It is so delicious. I am glad I can eat it without worrying now. You are just a fountain of info for us. And we thank you. Hope things will get back to normal for you. And I know that this new year of yours will be filled with all of the successes that you are hoping for. I got in 4 days of exercise last week, and never drank less than 128 oz. of water, fiber intake is up to 35 to 40 grams. And So far I HAVEN'T been on the scales since WIW. Am hoping to get all five days in this week. We are about 350 miles east of Seattle, almost into Idaho.

Jecrites--Waaay to Gooo!! Isn't it exciting to be fitting back into clothes that we had once out grown? Sure wish our weather here was nice, it has been rainy, windy and down right cold.

Tranquil--Enjoy you visit with your folks. Awesome job on being down to 258.

Jackie--Sorry about DD foot. Do you think it could really be the shoes? I remember having some trouble with my foot when I was younger. They never could find anything wrong....and after about a year, it just quit hurting. Sorry to hear about your back. Hope it is nothing too serious. Try not to overdo if you do exercise, I would hate to see it turn into something more serious just from trying to get your exercise in.

TV--Welcome back, I am new here and just strarting the SB woe. So far, it is great. Deb and everyone has been alot of help and quite a source of information. Good luck on your journey back.

Hallo Everybody!

I have had a busy day. Two friends took me out to lunch for my birthday. We went to the Japanese place, and I got shrimp yakitori. It was kind of sweet, so I am sure it had too much sugar in it. I also ate my three pieces of California roll, and a bit of my rice. Came home, and my daughter and son in law drove up. He had to go to work, and she and I decided to run to WalMart and Target and do some shopping. I got a new shirt, a five gallon bucket, and a book. She got an answering machine. Hooray! Finally!

I have not felt well all day. I have a severe pain in my chest. NO, it is not my heart. It feels like the inflammation I get that is caused by a virus. That or some kind of persistant heartburn. I am thinking it is muscular, since I was bending, lifting and carrying buckets of mixed up rose food to the roses all over the yard yesterday. Hopefully, it will improve by tomorrow. I took Advil and it helped, but not much.

I got another birthday present last night....two boxes of sugar free chocolates. I can tell this is going to be a bad week! ;)

gotta get off here and go lay down. I am hurting pretty bad! Later!

HiedieHo All!!

Just the usual stuff, NH etc. Woke too early this a.m. bright eyed and bushy tailed. Now I need a nap!

DEB: At curent prices not a good time to be refilling your tank so often!

Here's my MM:

I read of a man who stood to speak
At the funeral of a friend
He referred to the dates on his tombstone
From the beginning...to the end.

He noted that first came his date of birth
And spoke the following date with tears,
But he said what mattered most of all
Was the "DASH" between those years.

For that dash represents all the time
That he spent alive on earth...
And now only those who loved him
Know what that little line is worth.

For it matters not, how much we own;
The cars...the house...the cash,
What matters is how we live and love
And how we spend our dash

So think about this long and hard...
Are there things you'd like to change?
For you never know how much time is left,
That can still be rearranged.

If we could just slow down enough
To consider what's true and real,
And always try to understand
The way other people feel.

And be less quick to anger,
And show appreciation more
And love the people in our lives
Like we've never loved before.

If we treat each other with respect,
And more often wear a smile..
Remembering that this special dash
Might only last a little while.

So, when your eulogy's being read
With your life's actions to rehash...
Would you be proud of the things they say
About how you spent your dash?

I am glad that you're part of my dash.

and

IF I KNEW

_If I knew it would be the last time
_That I'd see you fall asleep,
_I would tuck you in more tightly
_and pray the Lord, your soul to keep.

_If I knew it would be the last time
_that I see you walk out the door,
_I would give you a hug and kiss
_and call you back for one more.

_If I knew it would be the last time
_I'd hear your voice lifted up in praise,
_I would video tape each action and word,
_so I could play them back day after day.

_If I knew it would be the last time,
_I could spare an extra minute
_to stop and say "I love you,"
_instead of assuming you would KNOW I do.

_If I knew it would be the last time
_I would be there to share your day,
_Well I'm sure you'll have so many more,
_so I can let just this one slip away.

_For surely there's always tomorrow
_to make up for an oversight,
_and we always get a second chance
_to make everything just right.

_There will always be another day
_to say "I love you,"
_And certainly there's another chance
_to say our "Anything I can do?"

_But just in case I might be wrong,
_and today is all I get,
_I'd like to say how much I love you
_and I hope we never forget.

_Tomorrow is not promised to anyone,
_young or old alike,
_And today may be the last chance
_you get to hold your loved one tight.

_So if you're waiting for tomorrow,
_why not do it today?
_For if tomorrow never comes,
_you'll surely regret the day,

_That you didn't take that extra time
_for a smile, a hug, or a kiss
_and you were too busy to grant someone,
_what turned out to be their one last wish.

_So hold your loved ones close today,
_and whisper in their ear,
_Tell them how much you love them
_and that you'll always hold them dear

_Take time to say "I'm sorry,"
_"Please forgive me," "Thank you,"
_or "It's okay."
_And if tomorrow never comes,
_you'll have no regrets about today.

Take care, Shirley

Evening,
Just got home from the Dr...They can't FIND ANYTHING WRONG with Kate...the Dr gave her an injection in her hip, and we go back in two weeks for another on at another site.
DEB..I use OXYCLEAN for EVERYTHING!!! Mostly in Skeeter's towels that he lays on or that I give him a bath with..I usually put a scoop in every load of our towels and underwear. Use it for some cleaning...It's not good for everything, but pretty darn near everything!

I'll be meeting Susan for dinner one night this week..I'll report on that when it happens...

Hope everyone is having a good start of the week...

Hi
Hello eveyone,
Just wanted to say a quick hello. Also I started doing water aerobics 3 times a week and walking at least two days with my mother-in-law, so hopefully this will help. I have to admit having a little trouble with my water challenge I am working on it though. But the good news is that I will have no trouble with the veggie challenge since I like veggies. Well gotta run chat with you all later.

Hi,

Tomorrow is the big day for me and I am hoping that I have a very good present from the doctor with good news about healing and getting this sling off. My daughter is coming tomorrow and will stay until Sunday, so, I will be very busy with her. I will pop in to let you fall know about the doctor's visit since you have been having to hear all the whining from me for so long.

Deb: Gee, you are so good to go walking when it is 93 degrees. I hestitated going out when it was 78 this afternoon. I did wait until it was a little cooler and walked almost 2 miles today. It was a rather slow pace, but at least I went. I am going to get in that 3 exercise days this week. Yeah for your 3 year anniversary.

Sef: Does your group do different kinds of stitchery? I would love to be in such a group and bring along my knitting that I would like to get restarted.

Jack-K: Shoe shopping is my very favorite thing. Now when it comes to shopping for jeans and bras, I can skip that. Here lately I have been to some wonderful sales on "day" wear.

Quilter: I am so happy to see that you are doing so well with the weight loss.

Sheanne: Sounds like a good grocery shopping list you had last week.

Fillise: Bed Bath and Beyond is a fun place to shop. At least it made it so your trip was not a complete loss.

Monet: I hope you are already feeling better. That problem doesn't sound good at all. Please tell me more about the flourless chocolate cake. Do you think this is anything we can adapt and legally have?

Hope all of you are doing well.

QUICK CHECK IN!

MICHAEL is working on the computer, he's eating now, so I hopped on while I have a minute, and only a minute do I have. Have to take LAUREN to her bbsitting job, she has to be there in 10 minutes, luckily, it's NOT a far drive. ELI is home making dinner. Doubt I will get back on this evening but definitely tomorrow morning. At this exact moment, I have NO plans whatsoever, so I'll catch up then, or so I hope!!

Hi again everyone. I was out last week visiting with my mother while she was in town. I was down to 193 last week, but I'm up to 194 this week (changed my weigh-in day to Sunday). Not too bad considering that I got no exercise in last week, between the visit & the bad weather.

I'm up for the exercise challenge this week. I've already got a day in. As long as the weather stays good, I'll be taking my two mile walks. Especially now that the weather's good and there are other joggers to look at. Have I mentioned lately how I love the Navy? ;)

HAPPY BIRTHDAY YELLOWROSE AND BETH!!! I hope you both have wonderful, wonderful days and that you are both treated like like little princesses.

I have to apologize for skipping out on you all yesterday. After work, I came home and crashed big time. Tried to work on some jewelry, but couldn't concentrate because of a nagging headache. I think it's my "spring is here headache". It's hanging around again this morning. So we'll see what the day brings.

Anyways, fell asleep just after 8 on the couch and went to bed and, thankfully, slept all night. My back is sore from all that basement work on Sunday. Didn't feel like treadmilling today. So I took the morning off.

Yesterday I got a little down, because my TM buddy was having a big pity party and I hated it. Yes, a good friend is there during the bad/down times, but I was getting really, really tired of saying the encouraging thing. I finally just shut up. I called her later to see how she was doing and she seemed fine. She just really hates getting up early and doing the exercise. I LOVE it and am losing patience with her for always seeing the dark side. Anyways, that's how my Monday started and I did not like it one bit. I usually feel so great when I get done TMing, but yesterday I felt exhausted. It wasn't from the exercise. We'll see how tomorrow goes. I think I need to make a distinction between a commitment and a drama/feeling with her.

Well, I have to go get ready for work. Sorry I cannot talk to everyone, but I'm running slow this morning.

Have a great day!

Good Tuesday Morning.

Hope everyone is ready to face the daily challenges that may come our way today. Be strong. You can do it.

Had a busy night, walked 3 miles, worked out, fixed lunches, went to tanning bed. Came home and went straight to bed. I was exhausted. I'm always so tired on Monday evenings.

My back seems some better. Didn't bother me too much while exercising. Didn't do crunches or sit ups. Thought that might be too much. Think I'll get the heating pad here today.

Anyone know a good place on the internet to sale a car. I think we are going to try to sell DD's instead of turning it in.

Need to get to a meeting so better post this now.

Teensy, I'm with you on the chips. Sweets don't bother me, just give me a bag of chips or cheetos and I can eat the whole bag.

Monet, Hope you are feeling better. Sure hope that all it is is from carrying that rose food. Take it easy today. Put that candy away where you can't see it. I keep mine in the drawer out of sight.

Sef, Liked the poems, but now I'm depressed.

Bob, I guess it is good news that they can't find anything wrong with Kate. But is sure can be frustrating. Hope she is feeling better.

Sugarless, WTG on al lthat exercise. yes, it will help.

Yellow, HAPPY BIRTHDAY!. Enjoy your day. :hb: :balloons: :gift: :hat: Sure hope you get that sling off tomorrow. Glad you are out walking. Just being outside will lift your spirits. Enjoy the time with your DD. Let us know about the Dr.

GBMM, Nothing better than a guy in a navy uniform!. Good for you getting out there walking.

Beth: If you are lurking, Have a great birthday. :hb: :gift: :hat:

Kim, Sounds like spring allergies have gotten you. My kids suffer from that so bad. You have already made such a committment to the TM in the am, I wouldn't worry about yur friend. If she doesn't want to do it, you dust go right on. Watch TV or read while you are doing it. It will be easy for you. Hope today is better for you.

Deb, I haven't been on the scale yet. Are we supposed to predict our outcome for tomorrow today?

Have a great day.

Good Tuesday Morning All:wave:

Got in from my walk a few minutes ago. I really didn't want to go. I woke up tired and that was after going to be at 9pm, much to ELI'S dismay as he wanted me to stay up, but I just couldn't keep my eyes open. You'd think after sleeping all night I'd feel rested, but nope:nono: I was exhausted when I got up. BUT, it's an absolutely gorgeous day here, the heat is not an issue at all today, only a high of 81 (better than the 93 we had) and I wasn't going to let this day go by and not get out there. Oh, it took me forever, an hour and 5 minutes to get in my usual 4.5miles, the same 4.5 miles it only took me to do in 53+ minutes yesterday, but I went and that I believe is the most important thing. Now, if I could figure out why I'm so tired...

JEC, CONGRATS on being able to wear the dress to church, it must of felt great! Kudos to you as well on getting on the exercise bandwagon! LOL, if you think your kids bedrooms are bad, come visit MICHAELS, or at least how it was before I got it partially cleaned last week-I'm sure your kids rooms would of looked immaculate compared to what I had to deal with! It gets worse as they get older!

ZANNE, unfortunately, sometimes when I give myself the leway to go off plan I have a hard time jumping back on. Once my body gets a taste of the crap it wants more and I have an internal fight going on inside me. It's worse when I just eat it, without planning it, it takes me too long to get back on track. This time though, it seems to be okay, but then again, this is only the 2nd day-after tomorrow I'll know better, but I'm hopeful. Funny how you can get oranges up there cheaper than down here where we grow them!

TV, glad to see you back!!! :D

TRANQUIL, looking forward to hearing ALL about your visit with your parents. Hope all is going well and you are enjoying the time you spend with them. Those numbers are definitely going in the right direction!! CONGRATS!

LIN, sorry about the e-mail. I started blocking domains that I get a lot of junk mail from. If you could just list your domain then I'll take it off my list so you can e-mail the picture to me. OR, you can send me a P/M with your e-mail and I can do it that way.

GRIN, you definitely have us pegged, we are a close group but always have open arms for others to join us. Many of us have met in person, spent time at other's homes, talk on the phone, spent weekends together or just e-mail each other all the time-this keeps us close, beyond the board. Tell your Oncologist to get Montignacs book as well, the SB BOOK can be not only confusing at times but contradictory as well. Knowing that they took the info from Montignacs book to make the SB BOOK and doing so, didn't explain things as well, this is why there are some problems with their book.

JACKK, how did DD like her trip to the Bahamas? How's the back? Wonder what the heck you could of done to it-weird! Good for you on staying off the scale-the way I'm feeling I don't think I'll even want to get on it tomorrow either-why torture myself, which will also make me want to dive in to a half gallon of ice cream! DD is doing great with the weight loss. I don't think these companies should put a time and weight loss together, they should know this sets people up for disappointment if it's not reached-everyone is so different I don't know how they can make those predictions. She should be thrilled with whatever she loses, as you well know. Good you are getting a WF, which I personally like better than WO, but where I have to go today to get some more PP, I'm out and that's what I want for lunch today, again! Sorry, don't know of any sites on the web to sell, only know about CARMAX where they will buy your car even if you don't buy theres, so they say. There is Ebay though.

TEENSY, spring? What's that? We moved from Autumn, few days of what we called winter and then right in to summer! Spring? You are doing so wonderful with all the challenges, I salute you! How are you getting in all that fiber? Another great tip was given to us from GATORGAL which I've used many times. On a mandoline she takes a zucchini and does it in strips like spaghetti and puts sauce on that, as you would real spaghetti - delicious! Are you a big Starbucks fan? I may of asked you this already, if so, chalk it up to age on my part!!!! LOL!!

MONET, hope you are feeling better today and aren't over doing it. Take a rest girl! SF candy - have DH hide it and dole it out in small quantities, otherwise you may not only overindulge but you may find yourself not only having pain in the chest, but in the arse as well from possibly spending too much time on the potty if those candies effect you as they say they can!

SEF, I've read both of those MM and love them. Actually, years ago, printed out the dash, not sure why I printed it though. Don't know what you pay for gas, but the average here is $1.699-it's taking like $30 to fill it up. Hope prices go down soon!!!

BOB, I hope you and FILLSE have a great visit. Please give her a big hug for me. Where are you two going to dinner? Anyone have a camera? Of course, DETAILS will be most appreciated!!!!

SUGAR, glad to hear you are doing well. If I can do the water challenge anyone can, I'm the worst when it comes to that, or so I was, some days are still a struggle but I've gotten a lot better. When you understand how water benefits you in so many other ways besides thirst you will drink it. If you don't drink enough water it can be a reason you don't lose weight-that alone should be motivating enough to drink it.

ROSE, HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!! I hope your day is wonderful and I truly hope the Dr. has good news for you. Please let us know what he had to say. How are you planning on spending your special day? What does DH have in store for you? I thought about you yesterday in particular, our last avocado off the tree hit the ground. It's huge!

MOMMA, glad to see your post. Hope you enjoyed your time with your Mom. Looking forward to seeing your posts on the exercise board this week! Keep up the good work!

QUILTER, hope you got rid of that nasty headache. When I get them I have to lie down and if they're bad, I usually pass out. These are hormone headaches usually. Here, ELI thought I was bad going to bed at 9pm, I'll have to tell him you went at 8pm, maybe then he won't be so harsh;) Sorry to hear about your TM buddy. It's hard to deal with stuff like that sometimes but hopefully your motivation will continue to inspire her to continue, if not, you will be fine on your own. This is one of the reasons I walk alone, I don't want to be dependent on someone else and if that person doesn't want to go than I'm more apt not to go, they find an excuse, I probably would too. Plus, it's hard when you have different paces. If the desire is in you, you'll do it, whether with someone or without. You're doing great!!!

Caught up! YEAH!!! Going to go take a shower and decided which way I want to head to start my day. Have a few errands to run before I get the kids.

Hope to see you all at chat tonight!!!

Toodles

Debbie

Do we have any poets or writers on board?

I need some type of poem or soemthing (I guess it dosn't have to rhyme) to put on my wine glass charms.

You know the old saying for the bag or rice: Here's the rice, set it aside, to shower upon the happy bride.

I need something like that to go with the wine glass charms. They mark you glass so you can tell them apart from someone elses. I can't come up with anythign that rhymes with charms or glass or markers. I thought maybe something explaining what they are and thanking people for sharing in their special day.

Any ideas will be greatly appreciates.

Hello all you wonderful people!

Well after day 2 of being back on the exercise wagon, I have to say that I am sore. It's been a long time since I've done any kind of exercise and boy is my body letting me know it. My legs aren't really too bad from the walking, it's mostly my arms and back from the "strength" stuff on the tape, muscles though, I haven't hurt nothing; and then there's my tummy from the pilates. Just the normal soreness that comes from not doing anything in forever though.

Grin- I consider it a huge victory in getting back into that dress. I haven't been able to put it on in 5 years, (I've tried and it always made me look like I was about ready to pop out a baby)! Although it is a little victory on my way to the big one.

Jack-k- Thanks for the congrats. Yes it is a most wonderful feeling, now if I can get into an even smaller one that I also wore 5 years ago and it not squish me into a flat chested woman, I'd feel even better!!!!

Teensy- I hope your weather clears up soon. We had a storm last night and it's a bit chilly today, but what else am I supposed to expect in Missouri right? At least I'm not getting snow, hope you aren't either.

Deb- Thanks for the congrats and the kudos. Could you see the floor in his room? There is no place at all in either of my kids rooms to see the floor. They have their clothes, clean and dirty ones, all over, toys all over, the toy box and closet are both just as empty as can be. Their bed linnens are all over the room. I've been trying to get them to clean it up for the past 3 months, but they haven't done it yet. Man, if they get worse when they get older, I need to send them to their grandparents house, hahahahahaha.

Ok, that's all I have for right now, will check back later.

Oh and I almost forgot, HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO YELLOW ROSE AND BETH!!!!!!!!!! :hb: :hat: :gift: :balloons:

HiedieHo All!!

HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO BETH and YELLOWROSE!!!!

YELLOW: You haven't been whining, just stating facts. Hope you have a good report today. The stitch group seems to be all crocheters and knitters, but they said there are others who come who have done others formsof stitchery. Look in your local paper under clubs or libraries, you might find a group there.

QUILT: A springtime headache? Allergies or sprin fever? Hope you have a better time of exercise with your friend. After 50 years I had a falling out with my friend because I just could not take her Me Me Me atitude any longer. Don't be irritated for the next 50 years is what I'm saying! You don't need her to keep going on with your exercise!

JACKK: Have you tried ice on your back? When mine is really bad it seems ice works better. My poems depressed you?!? I'm sorry, I thought they were an easy lesson in life. I'd like to be able to remember to do the things suggested. The first thing that popped into my head......Over the lips and through the gums, look out stomach here it comes! Guess that's not appropraiate!!!! How about something like love is warm, love is kind, please keep this in mind........well the love is warm and kind is nice!

DEB: Your gas is a little more exspensive. I bought gas on the 13th and it was 1.569, is probably more now. Maybe you need a spring tonic, a little sulphur and molasses!

Have no car today, son is on business trip, GD needed car to go to internaship and DIL has my car to go to work as she switched with her co-worker. You'd think 4 people could mange with three cars in the family. Tonight I'm going to a meeting that will orient families to the criterion for HFH and hand out application forms. Next week they are supposed to bring in the filled out forms and go through interview process to be sure forms are filled out and they are eligible to go on through the rest of the process.

Take care, Shirley

Happy Birthday YellowRose and Beth!

If you haven't seen it yet, the Mayo Clinic is offering a 12-week plan for a healthier weight. (It's on the 3FC home page) It doesn't cost anything, so I'm going to incorporate the tools they offer with SB. I definitely am still making bad choices, as I just ate a 1/2 of a large chocolate walnut cookie. DH bought a LOT of junk food on our last trip to the store, fortunately the cookies are the only thing that I seem to like, and they will be gone soon. Otherwise, my food choices are good, but still feel like I'm eating too many carbs. Thanks to Deb, I should be able to get a better grip on this soon. I'm off to take a 10 min walk, trying to make are challenges, new habits, but exercise is difficult for me as it is for others, figure I can manage 10 min of walking every couple of days. I did step on scale last night, but then realized the results were useless as I always weight 1st thing in the am. I'm guessing that I haven't lost anything.

Have a good Tuesday.

Hi everyone

I got back from my vacation on Sunday evening. I was wondering what the scale would say Monday morning, was a little afraid to get on it but was surprised that I had only gained three pounds during the two weeks I was away. It could have been a lot worse considering all the bread I had eaten. And most of it was the white stuff as that is all you can get in Spain. But we did do a lot of walking. Some days I walked my *** off, including walking up and down stairs and inclines and cobblestoned streets. Anyway I survived it and am sure that helped to keep the pounds off. Some of the food in Spain I didn't like and was glad to get back to my normal woe. I really missed out on the veggies while away. We did visit some interesting places and will try and post some pictures later. I've still got jet lag. Went to bed about 9.30 the last two nights. Hope it gets back to normal soon. I went to play badminton yesterday but felt tired afterwards. Now I have a head cold (or it could be allergies). Running nose, cough, sore throat and achy. So not doing much to-day. Actually I have been lying around all day. I'm glad I did all my laundry yesterday.

It was good to get back home and see that most of the snow has gone. They had some mild weather while I was away and most of it has melted. I'm hoping spring is just around the corner. Certainly had enough of the cold weather this winter.

Zanne - Good for you bypassing the chip aisle. My ds told me that my dil found some sweet potato chips in the new Loblaws on Bayview Av. I don't know if they are legal but will be heading out soon to check them out.

Sef - Liked both your MM's.

Deb - Congrats on your 3 year sb anniversary. I'd forgotten when I started (with Montignac) so just checked another website I used to post on and realised it is about 3 and a half years since I started. Time does fly.

YellowRose - I hope you get good news from the doctor tomorrow.

Monet - Hope you are feeling better.

Have to go. I am getting a bit sleepy sitting here. Need to go and lounge again. Will try and catch up with you all later.

Marie.

Here's my contribution for TUESDAY TIPS which comes from the MOTIVATION STATION:D

The Struggles of Weight Maintenance

by Joanne Bednar

It’s not all a bed of roses. Don’t get me wrong, it’s great to hit your goal weight and celebrate, but just because you can finally fit into your dream size doesn’t mean that it’s smooth sailing from now on. I certainly don’t want to discourage anyone from taking the journey to your goal weight, but I do want to let you know before you get there what it is like, at least what it has been like for myself.

During your weight loss journey you will encounter many emotional ups and downs as you glow with pride that you are accomplishing something, or as you continue to endlessly compare yourself those who still have better bodies than you. It’s a long road, and one that comes with many celebrations. Those around you will comment that you’ve lost weight, or how healthy you look. The best compliment I ever received was when a friend of my husbands told me how "athletic" I was looking. Always wishing I could be an athlete, I was thrilled!

When you hit your goal weight, the compliments stop and the watching eyes look closer. They wait for you to screw up and start gaining weight again. They don’t do it maliciously; it’s just human nature. The pressure to stay at your goal weight mounts unbelievably, and the fear that you can’t stay there sets in. Unfortunately, for many that have hit goal, this can lead to an obsession with the scale, and eating disorders. I did get a bit obsessive when I hit goal, but after much self-talk I have learned to accept my new healthy (but not perfect) body, and have avoided going to extremes.

There is no such thing as "ending your diet" once you get to your goal weight. I want to make this very clear because I was also under the delusion that I would be able to start eating more, and fatty foods again. Don’t get me wrong, I knew I couldn’t start eating the way I was before my lifestyle change, but I had hoped that I could eat healthy for 2 meals a day, and eat whatever I wanted for the third meal. When I started to do this I immediately began to gain a few pounds back, and I had to put a stop to this behavior, much to my dismay.

What I have learned is that the more time goes by, the easier it is to stay at goal as far as food is concerned. I truly believe that it takes your body a while to adjust to the new you, and eventually you can start introducing some foods back into your life, like real butter and real mayo (in smaller quantities, of course) without gaining weight. Rather than eat whatever I want for the third meal, I have found that I do maintain by eating whatever I want only 3 times a week. It is better than the once a week I limited myself to as I was losing, so hopefully that offers you some comfort!

You WILL have to exercise for life to maintain your new weight. There is no way around it, so you might as well accept now that you will need to find a way to make exercise a part of your daily life forever. About halfway to my goal weight, I decided that I would cut down my 6 days a week routine to 3 days a week once I hit goal. As I neared my goal, I also realized that not only did I have to continue my 6-day per week routine, but also I had to exercise longer and harder to take off those last few pounds. For a short period of time I even exercised twice a day, determined to hit my goal weight. After about three weeks of torture, I began to loathe exercise and my knees and ankles were suffering. I realized that there was no way I could continue this, and I also realized that it wasn’t normal, or something I could continue long term. So I went back to my normal routine, and increased the intensity of my workouts, and the duration by about 10 minutes a day.

I did finally take of those few pounds, and while the intensity of my workouts has remained high, the duration went back to a normal 30 minutes. Unfortunately that meant gaining back about 2 pounds. After weeks of agonizing over it, I finally came to the conclusion that I had to learn to accept my new weight. After all, I was at 20% body fat, in a size 4-6, and the healthiest I had ever been in my entire life. Over the last year as I have fought to maintain my weight, I have been able to cut back to 5 days per week instead of 6. Maybe someday I can even cut another day out, but I’m not worried about it. Fitness has become an intrinsic part of my life, and I believe that I will not feel as good mentally and physically if I cut down further.

I can tell you why I am able to cut down. It’s because I lift weights more often, and I lift heavier weights than before. This, in turn, is allowing me to take in more calories (or burn off less by exercising only 5 days instead of 6). That also explains why you cannot cut back on exercise just because you hit goal. You are taking in a certain number of calories from food each day, but you are also burning off a portion of them. If you cut back to a 3 day per week routine, you will not burn off those calories you once did, and you will gain weight. There will be some flexibility with your exercise schedule once you switch to maintenance, you just have to find what works for you.

The purpose of this article is not to frustrate you or disappoint you, but rather it is to encourage you to make a lifestyle change that is a permanent one, rather than opting for the fad diet. Those who do maintain their weight loss have the same traits in common: they are physically active, and they have permanently changed their eating habits, they watch portions, and many even continue to write down what they eat. Sounds simple enough, but as you have learned from my experience, it is not always easy. If you are not willing to do what is required to hit your personal goal weight, then you may just need to settle on a higher goal weight, and there is certainly nothing wrong with that. But for those of you who are determined to hit your dream weight and stay there forever, you should know that it is going to take some continued effort, long after you hit goal.

Hey All:wave:

Thought I'd get in here and get in a quick post before MICHAEL claims the computer.

Didn't do a heck of a lot today to talk about, boring! P/U a few movies being held at the library, BRIDGET JONES DIARY, PEARL HARBOR & INSOMNIA, still have 6 in the house that I haven't watched, just no time, so I keep renewing them.

JACKK, I'm sure you'll come up with the most appropriate words for the charms. Between those of us on the board and your family and friends, I'm sure you'll find the best prose to be found;)

JEC, how far are you from Branson? I have a internet friend who lives there and hopes I can one day come to meet her. I think she'll be here before I get to go there though. Girl, there was not only NOT a spot that you could make out the floor in his room but the crap was out in to the hallway! There wasn't just one layer, but many. Right now, on the side of his bed, crap is piled up as high as the bed. It doesn't help that he has a pretty big bedroom either (queen size sleigh bed). Trust me, ask ROSE, TRISH, MELF, BOB, TRANQUIL or SERENE, they can tell you-they've all been at my house and I do believe MICHAEL'S room was seen on one of it's better days with them here, but probably for them it was still a huge mess. You've got to nip it in the bud while they're young-you sure don't want it to get worse like mine has. I wonder what he's going to do when it comes to going away to colleg:chin:

SEF, I haven't seen gas that cheap in I don't know when. To think, not long ago it was 1.139. If I didn't drive that much it wouldn't seem so bad, but at the rate I've been hitting the streets....Hmmm, I just don't think sulphur and molasses are SB LEGAL, and besides, what's sulphur? Isn't it that stinky stuff?

LDBLOND, will have to check out this MAYO thing-thanks for posting the info about it. I hope the diet cocktail will help you out some, keep us posted. Tell DH if he's going to buy the stuff you find hard to resist just to hide it so you won't be tempted.

ROSALIE, WELCOME BACK!!!! Glad to hear you're back safe and sound and had a good time on your trip. YOu did good with only gaining 3lbs, that's great. Heck, I can stay home and gain that overnight, so you did really well. I can't believe it's been 3 1/2 years for you-congrats to you too. It takes a lot of dedication for us to stay with something like this for so long, but as it's a WOE it's going to be like this for years to come. I guess, now that I think about it, it's like if we were vegetarians, it's a lifestyle, not a diet:) Hope you get rested up and back in the swing of things soon. Again, glad to have you back!!!!

Waiting for my nephew to arrive. I have to drop him off at baseball practice at 6:30pm because my sister has an appt. with my niece Sterling, so I'm' going to chauffer him over there.

Will be back on for chat tonight. Hope to see you there!

Good afternoon,

Getting ready to head home. It hasn't started raining yet so guess we will get our walk in tonight.

Gonna grill out some burgers. Fix some slaw and another veggie or 2.

Deb, I have given up, I'm not going to get my DD's room cleaned until she moves out in May. I missed your post on your anniversary. Did you weigh? DD loved the Bahams and told me way to much that I didn't care to know.

Bob, have a great time with Fillise. Please take pics.

Jcrites, Just think of those sore muscles as a cry for more. Work them regularly and they won't be sore.

Sef, one of the girls in my office came up with: Here's a charm to mark your glass, don't drink too much and fall on your a**". Just a little crass don't you think, but probably appropriate. Thanks for taking the time to think about it. Why is it when cars are being shifted around, it is always mom who does w/o?

IDblond, You need to ask DH to support you by not buying junk. It will be better for him in the long run too.

Rosalie, glad you are home safe & sound. Sounds like a nice trip. Hey 3 lbs are nothing. They will be gone in no time. Good job.

Deb, good article. Every bit of it is so true. Thanks. Maybe you should put a meter in your car. Might help pay for gas.

I haven't weighed since last wiw, and I predict that I will stay the same. I have some big losses the last 3 weeks and my body will have to start adjusting. I'll be happy with staying the same.

Good luck to everyone on the scale tomorrow.

Plan on being at chat tonight unless something changes.

Have a great evening.

Hi Ladies,
I know the other day I had stated that I had to visit the doctor in a few weeks. Well a few weeks turned out to be today. You guessed it, I had to weigh. I was blown away. I have lost 23 pounds in the since I last weighed. I was driving 70 mph going to the doctor, but on the way back I was driving 80 mph. I was a little too excited. :bravo:

Debbie ~~ I'm reading Phase II in MM's book. I am really beginning to understand the concept. I really thank you for sending me in the direction that I'm going. I takes a lot time to do what you do and I'm sure the rest of the people appreciate what you do for us. Do you have anything on "breathing"? My DB just called me moments ago and asked what did I know about breathing. He has been hearing a lot about it. One thing he mentioned is that most people only use 30% of our lungs capacity. I will research it myself, however, there one thing I realize is that your knowledge is base is quite extensive.

Monet ~~ Thank you dear for the info. I called and asked my doctor if he thought it would be a help to me. I don't want to take a bunch of stuff, just to be taking it. Hope you are feeling better.

Beth ~~ HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO YOU!!!! :hb: :gift:

YellowRose ~~ HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO YOU TOO !!! :balloons: :hb:

OrangeBabe ~~ I have printed out the piece you sent for using stuff around the house for just about everthing. I have a shirt that is 60% cotton and 40% polyester. I can't make the stain bulge. It is oil and I believe the stain has set. Any ideas would be appreciated.

Debbie I read your article on S. squash and I plan to get some TONITE.

I have to get ready for some more water. I see it is about 5:33 and I need to get my booty moving. I have been looking at the pics on this site. They are fab...Keep up the good work Ladies and Gents!!!

See yall later. Will try to get back a little later..

Hi,

I thank all of you for the wonderful birthday wishes!

I did have good news from the doctor. He said I could be out of the sling while I was at the house and I didn't have to sleep in it any more. I still need to wear it when I go out and I can't drive yet but I still think the news is very good. As of april 15, I can be totally out of the sling. He said it was too soon to tell about the healing and I should not expect to be pain free for at least 4 months out. Thank you Tylenol for the help in that department.

After visiting the doctor, we went out for a late lunch and then on to Sam's and the half price book store. My husband bought me this wonderful flower arrangement that has some white orchids in a black vase. It is very dramatic and lovely. He has been so good to me! I have not been out a lot so I am tired and I think we will just have a salad for dinner. I'm happy about the day.

I hope all of you have had a good day also.

Hello my new and Dear Friends.... reading your posts makes me feel like I'm sitting around the kitchen table with my fav girl friends. You are so encouraging and still "real". Shirleys story of the dash and if I knew made me weep. Both stories are familiar to me but have such a fresh impact on my heart. I have chemo friends and radiation friends but this group is truly a treasure. You always make me smile and appreciate the little victories in our days. How wonderful that Agape lost 23 pounds:cp: :cp:
I know that this dreadful war has affected us all. I have a cousin in the first division and I'm sure you all know people there too.. Let's keep all of the allied forces in our prayers. I also have a girlfriend with Care Canada in Iraq. She has been there 18 months and tells me that things are really getting bad for the citizens in Baghdad. There are so many heros... I've made a promise to myself that I will win my cancer battle and weight battle. I know God has given me a gift of more time to do more for his people. You ladies inspire me and I thank you for your kindness.... Lori

HiedieHo All!!

ROSALIE: Welcome back! I would have thjought that fruits and veggies wold be a mainstay in Spain. At least it was only 3# gain.

DEB: Yep it's that stinky stuff! My GM always swore by that concoction, don't know where she got the ingredients.

JACKK: Mom did without tonight too. GD had play practice and DIL didn't get home from work until 7:30, so I stayed home. I really didn't know of anyone who lives on this side of town to beg a ride. Well, I will put in my car order with family for the first as that is when the interviews are to be sure forms are filled out OK. I like a little crassness now and then among friends! I was trying to think along romantic lines.

GRIN: Gee! I make Jackk depressed and you to weep. That wasn't the point I ws making!........Only teasing! Your determination inspires us. I agree with you about supporting our troops and the many people who are trying to do good and help.

Guess I'll crochet a bit.

Take care, Shirley

Tuesday night--

Just a quick check in before I am off to bed. Preregister at the hospital first thing in the morning for dh surgery. Don't think it takes too long, just a pain going in to town. Then one more week of waiting.
Way to go to all of you who are staying OP, and exercising!!

I am predicting that I have stayed the same this week. Sure hope that I surprised myself when I weigh tomorrow. Eating more sure makes me feel like I am not trying. I have been totally OP as far as I know. (Hoping I haven't messed up)
Good luck to all of my dear friends....and night all.

Good Morning SB Friends

I didn't get to the board yesterday and today I have to make it quick. I'm going with DS's class on a trip to see how maple syrup is made. Lunch is pancakes with maple syrup and hot chocolate. Needless to say, I'll be bringing my own lunch.

Scale is 170 today. I think the same as last week, but up one from a few days ago. Oh well  I've been eating almost 100% OP and been drinking my water. BUT I have noticed that when I've been doing well with my eating, I do gain a bit at first. So I'm not going to fret about it.

I did my weights yesterday:strong: Yeah me! Two days in a row with exercise. I had to really drop down in what I could lift from last year about this time, I've lost so much strength. At least I knew enough to go back to the small weights and not hurt myself trying to lift more.

I'm sticking to the knitting at night. I'm trying to form a new "calorie/sugar free" habit! When I have wanted a snack, I'm eating fruit or triscuits with salsa. I'm finding too that I don't eat that many triscuits (compared to the 1/2 bag of chips I could easily eat) because I feel full.

YELLOWROSE-- HAPPY BELATED BIRTHDAY! :gift: :hat: :hb: Glad to see you got some nice birthday news from the doc.

BETH--HAPPY BELATED BIRTHDAY to you too! :hb: :gift: :hat: I hope you're doing well. Hope you can pop in and keep us updated.

AGAPE--HOORAY for you for 23lbs gone! :cp:

ROSALIE--Glad you're home safe. Only 3lbs up--that's not so bad. They'll come off soon, now that you can get back into routine. I've tried the sweet potato chips, but they are too sweet for me :dizzy: Go figure. That new Loblaws is a danger zone for me. I went there yesterday with 3 things on my list and ended up spending $100! :^:

Ok, gotta get going. I've got to make myself a big lunch with lots of apples and good stuff cause I'm sure the little darlings in my charge will want to share.

Have a good day everyone!

WIW Morning---

Hello Everybody! Yes, I'm here and still OP. I feel like I'm neglecting you all this week. And for that I apologize. The past two nights have been busy and I just haven't had time. How was chat last night? I hope you had a good group of talkers. Tonight I have Altrusa and won't get home until after 9. I'll try to get on later tonight and try to catch up. I just hate when I don't even have time to read your wonderful posts.

My WIW report is good this morning. Surprisingly, I was down TWO POUNDS from last Wednesday!!! I had not weighed since last Friday and for some reason I was feeling like I'd be up this morning. What a happy shock to see my premonitions were wrong! That puts me at 191.5 which is a total of 12.5 pounds since January 23. I'm pretty excited because I'm just two pounds away from breaking another zero and getting into the 180's!!!!! I will feel so great when I get there. Each of those ten pound sections seems like paradise when you are right on the verge of getting there. I'm hoping by this time next month (end of April) I will be firmly planted in the 180's with no looking back.

Well, sorry this is all about me, but I don't have time to catch up with each one of you. Remember that you all are in my thoughts and I hope you all have a GREAT WIW. Remember if the pounds don't show up on the scale, look for another way to mark your success! Each day you eat right and exercise is a day of success!!!

Catch you later,
Kim

Happy WIW. At least I hope it is happy for all of you.

Yesterday I predicted that I would stay the same. Last night at bedtime, I knew I was going to be up. My dinner sat in my stomach like a ton of bricks. It is still there this morning and really bothering me. Maybe a good laxative would help. So, I was up 2 lbs. I'm not worried. it will disappear in a day or two.

Sorry I didn't make it to chat. DD was doing a project on the computer.

Did get my 3 miles walk in and eaxercise. DH didn't want to workout, but I hate to skip so I went on by myself. Always glad I did.

Agape, Congrats on the 23 pounds gone forever. I bet your Dr was pleased too.

Yellow, Glad you got good news from the Dr. April 15th will be here before you know it and you will be sling free. Don't try to overdo. Take care.

Grin, You are truly an inspiration. You have fought and won the cancer battle and I'm sure the wt battle will be no problem. Yes, prayers are the only thing we can do for our troops right now. I'm sending up many daily.

Zanne, good for you being prepared for lunch today. Have fun on that field trip. You will be lifting heavier wts in no time. It's amazing how fast you can build back up.

Kim, :cb: WTG on those 2 lbs. Girl yhou are moving right along at a quick pace. You are doing so good. I didn't make it to chat either. Have a great day.

Good morning.

Well, my scales have me at the same. That's better than gaining though, so I'm happy with that until next week. Hopefully next week I'll see a loss since I'm a bit bloated this week from the "you know what". Gotta go to the store today, I'm nearly out of water:yikes: , (don't drink the stuff from the faucet cause it's awful here).

Deb, I know I told you last night about where I am in Missouri, but thought I'd post it so everyone else who's wondering the same thing can know too. I'm about an hour south of Kansas City, and not real sure of how far I am from Branson. I know we went through there on the move up here, and will be traveling through there some more on the way back home for visits to our families. I have a real good friend that has family in Springfield, and I'm hoping that she will get to come visit sometime this summer. Any ideas of how to nip my kids buds on their room? I've tried everything I can think of and nothing seems to help. They already can't go outside to play until they get it done, and all that's doing is making me crazy because they are in here under my feet all the time and I would love to get them outside.

Jack-k, I've never thought of that, I'll have to remember to tell myself that my muscles are wanting more when they are sore. Gotta take a break from it today though, cramps and all. Hopefully they won't be too bad tomorrow so I can do some more. The tapes are fun, and don't wear me out like the aerobics always did.

Oh, and Deb, I almost forgot, I found the book on half.com and I ordered it. Can't wait to get it and get to reading!

Well I got to go for now, gotta get my 3 yr. old ready and head out the door to the store, which is about a 25 to 30 min. drive. I'll check back later.

Have a great WIW everyone!!!

Good morning all. It seems like a lot of us are staying the same, which is great. I kind of thought that would happen after all the losses last week. I of course stayed the same as I knew I would. I have been at this weight for more than a year, so it was sort of a no brainer.

Teensy-Hope the trip to the hospital is painless.

Zanne-Hot pancakes with real maple syrup--sounds heavenly. You are smart to pack a lunch. What is Lowblaws???

Welcome home Rosalie. I would like to see pictures!!

Agape-23 pounds is a lot--you are doing great. How long has it been since the last dr's appt.?

Kim-That's great that you lost 2 pounds. You are doing something right. Did you see where I was in Cinci for 24 hours last weekend? We stayed at a friend's in Walnut Hills (I think) and shopped and lunched in Hyde Park. It was fun and saw lots of pig sculptures :)

Jackie-It's rare when dh doesn't want to work out. You always go with him even when you don't feel like going, right?

Sabrina-I love your attitude that all these small losses add up to big ones. WTG!

Chacha-Welcome! I'm glad you joined us.

Bob and Susan-Sounds like you had a very enjoyable dinner.

Crites-A maintain is good--I bet the scale will move next week. I don't know how old your kids are, but I think a 3 y.o. is a little young to be expected to clean up his/her whole bedroom. I would go in and help, then both of you go outside. Do you have other children at home?

Had fun at chat last night. I gotta get off the computer and do something a little more productive. Will check in later.

Just a quickie to catach up. Going to be busy today.

Deb, the one in the tie I hope! Very handsome.

Tranquil. WooHoo is right. You are kicking some mean arse girl. Keep up the good work.

Chacha, Welcome. You have come to the right place for support and advice. We give whether you want it or not.. How nice to have your DH do this with you. That alone will be a big help. Ask any questions you have, someone will have an answer. Good luck.

Bob, Loved the new avatar. I want one! We're in the same dinner boat today. Did you get some pics of Susan and you? Glad you had a good time.

Jcrites, Exercise is really helpful on cramps. Really!

Idblond, take care of yourself. No gain is great!

Lin, I really don't mind if DH doesn't work out, that way I don't have to wait on him to do my next exercise. If you have been at the same wt for a year (and I take it not a goal) isn't there something you can do to shake it up? I don't think I would be happy with staying the same for a whole year unless you are at goal. Jsut being nosey.

Country, Now I'm really mad that you are not waiting for me. Just kidding very ahppy that you are down this week. I'm gonna catch you one day.

Mrstruck, Welcome. I'm glad your mom convinced you to join us and SB. You are doing awesome. Hey it took me 23 years to lose my baby fat. You are smart to do it while you're young. I bet your mom loves the new baby.

Just a quick note. WIW was not good to me. I was up seven. I was a bit surprised at how much...but oh well! I feel bloated, so maybe it will be gone by next Wednesday. Yesterday was a bad day. I probably ate the equivalent of a large candy bar in Hershey's nuggets. I can't even begin to figure out what came over me....

The pain in my breastbone and back is much better. I think I must have pulled a muscle or had a pinched nerve. A dose of three ibuprofen knocks it out nicely now. Before, nothing helped!

Last night, as I was getting ready to post, the power went out! A transformer blew, and we were without power for three hours. I finally went to bed. Once I got to sleep, the power came back on, lights, computer, and all! I nearly jumped out of bed I was so startled!

COUNTRY: What do you use for a target for archery practice? I looked at the Saunders mats, which is what I would like, but its too much $$! I got arrows on ebay, and once they get here, I am going to want to get out there and do some shooting! But I need a target! :) There are so many kinds, like bags and backdrops, etc. - it is hard to figure out.

Hey All!!

Just a quick post to say I'm still around before the DD Mistress sends out the posse for me. Sounds like most everyone is having a good WIW, not me, though. I'm up 1.5 pounds. I have no idea why except the dr did put me on a new hormone and he said that the first month may throw me out of whack. After that, it should settle down.

I see we have several new people. Welcome aboard everyone.

Gotta get back to work.

Cha cha5 and mrsturk--welcome! You'll get lots of help and support here.

I've been MIA for about 10 days--spring finally sprung and there's so much to do in the yard. I went shopping last Saturday and bought a new pair of capri's and the walk away the pounds ab tape. This is the first pair of pants that I've bought in the last 3 years that weren't out of absolute neccesity.

Quilter--I know what you mean about dropping down into the next number on the scales! I bought a new scale which weighed 4.5 pounds heavier than the one I started with--big bummer! It was like I had to lose those 4 and 1/2 pounds all over. I kept running to the old one so that I'd feel good.

We're having a potluck at work Friday so I made catsup and boiled eggs to make spinach salad.

The yard is calling me--possibility of snow on Sunday---I don't even care because I'm so happy to know that it won't be around for long. My darling son who lives in Florida sent me a box of Godiva chocolates for my birthday, and he even sent the all milk chocolate ones because he remembered that's what I liked. How many miles would I have to walk to compensate for 1 piece?

Deb--you did say the granulated fructose is legal? One of the stores is going out of business so I bought all their equal and two boxes of granulated fructose--if it's not legal I will pitch it!

I got the directions to a health food store---right behind the Krispy Kreme Store--what irony. Gotta go,I'll try to check in more often.

Hey everybody. I'm really tired from my "journey" to the store. Just wanted to reply to a few things though.

Lin, I have a 8 yr. old (she'll be 9 apr. 14), a 6 yr. old, (she'll be 7 sep. 28), and then the 3 yr. old, (she'll be 4 apr. 2). I'm not so worried about the 3 yr. old cleaning up anything yet, but the other two shouldn't have ever let it get that way. I wouldn't worry about their room if it was just toys everywhere, but they have EVERYTHING out.

Jack-k, Really? I'm always afraid I'll end up making a mess of myself on the first day. They normally get better by the second day. I think I got my walking in today anyways though, walking through the store from one end to the other about a million times it seemed. I would remember something I wanted that was on the other side and have to go all the way back over there.

Ok, that's it from me for right now, I need to get some fruit, (need a snack).

Gotta make this quick- been so busy the past few days and I haven't been that great with my eating the past few days either. Friday I ate king size M&M's and then again on Sunday. Then Monday I ate way too many starchy carbs and yeaterday I was legal but just ate too much. Plus, I was craving something sweet after supper last night and I made a smoothie- okay 2 smoothies!, from frozen strawberries, milk and splenda. Very delicious but I got carried away. So I'm at 201(up 1) this WIW. I've done okay today though. Alright, I gotta go guys- Congrats to all the losers this week- and if you didn't TOMMORROW IS A NEW DAY!

Hello everyone!

YELLOWROSE-- HAPPY BELATED BIRTHDAY! Glad to see you got some nice birthday news from the doc.

BETH--HAPPY BELATED BIRTHDAY to you too! I hope you're doing well. Hope you can pop in and keep us updated.

AGAPE--HOORAY for you for 23lbs gone!

Welcome chacha5!

Welcome Nicole! You are doing great.

I weighed this morning and am down 1/2 lb. So that is good. I was so depressed the other day though because it seemed that no matter what I did, the scale was up the next day. Now that I have started trying to get in my water, it has started to move back down again. Hooray for water!!!!

I took my accessment Math test today for the Nursing Program, and passed it. Tuesday I take the Algebra. It would be great if I don't have to take Algebra, but I'm not betting on it. I remember some, but it has been a very long time since I have even looked at it.

My Mom is doing better. Her arms are hurting her though because of having to use the walker and not putting any weight on her right leg. I told her she is going to be "muscle woman" after three months of this.

I haven't been walking for the past couple of months. I have a bone spur (I think) on the side of my heel. Anyway there is a lump about the size of a grape. It hurts like h---!! I'm going to the doctor for my yearly next week. I'm going to ask about it. Tomorrow I have to go for bloodwork. I'm pre-diabetic and praying that I don't have to start taking medication. I've been checking it with my mom's monitor and so far it has been ok.

Well, I am sorry that I haven't resonded to everyone individually. I kind of lost track of everyone after not being here for the past couple of days. But you all know that I'm always thinking of you and cheering you on with your healthy endeavors.

Hi all,

Running out to get my nails done just wanted to post a quickie.

Monet, sorry you were up so much today. Hopefully next week will be better.

Trish, Soory you were up today too. This WIW is not too good. What a scare your longhorns had the other night. You may play the Cats yet.

Earlybird. It's always nice to get new clothes. You will like the tape.

Sheanne, Congrats on that 1/2 lb. Water really does help. Good luck on your test. You will do great.

have a great night

Jack-K - I've got the Horns and Cats in the Championship game. I will admit that Texas is going to have to play better than they did the other night against Purdue, though. I know one thing that hurt both teams early on was how tight they were calling the game. Neither team could get into any kind of flow because every other second there was a whistle. I agree with the refs keeping the game under control, but there comes a point when you just have to let them play. OK, that's my hoops talk for the day.

Jecrites - Just a quick thought on your kids and their rooms. First off, girl, you are preaching to the choir. We all know how it is with kids and their rooms. One thing we did have to resort to with my oldest when he was younger was a clean up list. He has ADD and the doctor finally told us that this was a major problem for him. For us, it was just always a day long fight getting him to clean his room. The doctor had us make a list, very detailed, of things he had to do to "clean his room". We would only give him a part of the list at a time and when he finished that part, we would give him the next item. Being able to "check off the list" as he completed part of it, gave him a sense of accomplishment and it wasn't as overwhelming to him. After a while, we gave him the whole list all at once and then he got where he didn't need the list. It's funny, that now at 17, when we tell him to "clean his room", he still does it in pretty much the same order. This might or might not work for your kiddos, but it never hurts to try. Good luck!!!

Well, we were out in the brush for about 4 hours. The "guide" we had was real funny. He was talking to a bunch of kindergarteners like he would talk to high school kids and then he wondered why they weren't really listening up. All they wanted was their taste of maple syrup.

I've got a bit of sunburn on my face!:o Who'd have thought!

I only had one of my turkey roll ups. DS was still hungry (they only got 2 pancakes) so he got my second one. I also had some cream cheese and triscuits and some apple slices. Didn't drink too much water cause they only had outhouses there. :^:

MONET--Glad you're feeling better. I bet your roses will be spectacular with all the hard work you put into them. Just take it easy next time so you don't hurt yourself.

MRSTURK & CHACHA---Welcome to you both!

LINWORTH--"Loblaws" is our big chain grocery store. The one that ROSALIE and I are talking about you could live in! They sell everything, have a fitness club, cooking school, take out food, photo studio etc. I'm not sure what it would compare to in the States.

Ok, gotta go get dinner and change out of my workout clothes. I've been working out while hubby is not home. I want to see if he notices anything!

Trish, Thank you so much for the advice on my kids cleaning their rooms. I started today by telling them that if they would just pick up their clothes and get them out of the floor then they could go outside. They did that, now tomorrow we tackle the toys!!!! I sure hope it works better this way.

Hey All:wave:

Had a nice day out with the COFFEE MAN today. We really didn't do a heck of a lot, lunch at OLE OLE, a few stores, but we did manage to get in a movie today, saw FRIDA, wasn't bad, good if you like biographies.

Thanks to those of you who joined me in the chat room last night, always a pleasure to "talk" to you in real time:D

Didn't get in my walk today. Unlike other days, the warm body that was still in the bed, well, I decided to cuddle up with it this time:shrug:

Wanted to get in a few replies before MICHAEL wakes up from a nap and tells me he's in need of the computer...

JACKK, didn't weigh at all, not going to til I "FEEL" slimmer. I do think I'm on the other spectrum of where I was with the scale for so many years, and you know what, it feels great. BUT, feeling fatter sure as heck doesn't feel so great! Boy, that must be a crappy picture...ELI handsome to someone other than myself??? Actually, BOB thinks he looks like Sasquach and I think like he looks like a cross between Homer Simpson and one of those Weeble Wobbles but they don't fall down toys of the past:D But alas, I love the old coot!

AGAPE, what exciting news to read! I'm so happy for you and a big CONGRATS is being yelled your way! That's so awesome! What did the Dr. say when he/she saw that? Sorry, I don't know anything about breathing, other than if you aren't doing it, your in big trouble! LOL!! Keep up the great work!!!!

ROSE, sounds like things are moving right along for you with your arm which is really good to hear. I'm sure you'll improve on a daily basis as long as you don't overdue it. Sounds like RAY just spoils you rotten, even when it's not your bday, and which I can totally understand him doing so, you're an awesome person!!!!

GRIN, I'm so glad you are feeling right at home, which you should. The gals on the board are such good people. I hope one day you'll have an opportunity to meet one or more of the gals. After having met 23 past and present members I can tell you it's quite a wonderful experience. Many who I haven't met I've gotten to know via the telephone and/or e-mails as well. I hope to one day chat with everyone!!!!

SEF, I think I'll pass on the sulphur, ELI'S bad gas would probably work just as well:s: As for the molasses, a good sub would be agave, I suspect.

TEENSY, how'd did things go today for DH?

ZANNE, which I could go on a field trip like that-I love interesting things like that and really like when I see how things are made. I always wished someone would produce a show like that for TV. Hope you had a good time!

QUILTER, I couldn't be more proud of you!:D You're doing great and I know you are on cloud 9:cloud9: What's ALTRUSA?

TRANQUIL, WOO HOO! Girlfriend, that's awesome news. I may not recognize you when you come down here in May!!!!;) Hope you are having a good time with DM & DF-call me when you get a chance. What's the other name of the book you got?

CHACHAhttp://members.aol.com/eldemila/sb_sign2.jpg Glad you've decided to join us and I know I can speak for the entire board when I say GOOD LUCK! We all know that this WOE is wonderful and are always happy to see another person embrace this wonderful WOE along with us. Don't be afraid to ask questions no matter how stupid they may even seem. Think of this as a learning experience. If MEL gets her butt on the board, she too is from PA, I think WEST CHESTER, if I'm correct. Again, WELCOME!

BOB, waiting for more details of your dinner wit FILLISE!!!!!!!!!!!! Needless to say, I'm so jealous I couldn't come and be there too!!!

JEC, glad to hear you stayed the same and didn't see a gain. I'm sure you'll see a loss on the scales soon though, TOM always has me up, as well as mid-cycle. So happy to hear you found it on half.com - I saw it when I sent you the coupon and the price wasn't that bad. Someone must of just posted it on there because it wasn't on a few days ago. Let me know what you think of it after you read it!

LDBLOND, hope you feel better!

LIN, e-mail me the pic. I took the block off your domain for your e-mail. Just make sure to put SB in the subject area.

COUNTRY, CONGRATS for your loss this week!!!

MRSTURK, http://members.aol.com/eldemila/sb_sign2.jpg to you as well! Glad to have a mother and daughter duo on the board. I'm sure you are as proud of your DM as she is of you. You are both doing awesome. I can see a mother/daughter shopping trip in your future. Tell DM to lend you her book when she's done with it, but do make sure you return it to her;) Oh, and CONGRATS as well to the newest member of the family!!!! Glad to have you a board!!!

ELI is calling me to the dinner table. Will have to p/u from where I left off tomorrow morning if I'm unable to get on later.

Hello! Happy Wednesday Night!!! This is going to be quick. I had a meeting after work and just got home a little bit ago. I can't stand skimming and writing "quickies" but I guess that's what I'm forced to tonight. Paul just made some popcorn, but he let it burn, so it's no temptation to me now. I guess I should be grateful that he overcooked it. LOL

Just a few greetings:

DEB---Thanks for the praise. You are so kind and supportive. Altrusa is a women's service club that I joined a few months ago. I met them when they helped us at one of our fundraisers. They seemed like a fun group. A wide age range of active people in this small group. I really like them and wanted to be a part of them. We meet once a month for a regular meeting. And then we do extra things like helping out non-profits with service of money. Next month we are helping out one of the local PBS stations do their Action Auction fundraiser. I'm excited to be a part of that.

EARLY---Welcome back! Hey congrats on the new pants. How much fun is that! How hard is the abs tape? Are you still walking in it or is it floor work?

ZANNE---You are doing so great. I really loved reading your post this morning that was so upbeat. You were not "all centered" on the scale and you really made me remember to measure my success on other things beside that number. Thanks, friend! Good luck on the knitting. Not only will you get skinny, but you will also end up with some great stuff! What a great idea!

JACKK---You are so right. Those two pesky pounds will vanish in a day or two. Just spend a couple of quality minutes in the bathroom and you'lll be down soon enough. I hate that "too full" feeling. It's misery.

TRANQ---CONGRATS ON THE NEW LOW!!! That's great! It's so better to see it come off slowly and steadily. Keep up the great work. You are doing so well. Enjoy your visit, but remember to check in with us.

BOB---So glad to hear that you and FILLISE had a good visit. I was sure jealous, because that sounded like one FUN dinner. Thanks for reporting. Did you take a picture to post???

LIN---You are doing really well. Staying the same from one week to the next just is an assurance that the pounds lost earlier are really really gone. Keep up the good work. Yes, I saw that you reported that you were in town. At first, I was so disappointed that we couldn't meet up, but I totally understand. 24 hours is not much. I'm glad you had fun with your friends. Where did you eat in Hyde Park? Did you shop at Rookwood Pavillion? There are some great stores there. The pigs were a big hit a few years ago during the summer. You should have seen all of the ones downtown! They were hilarious and beautiful. It was great for the city. I wish they could come up with another good gimick. Last year they tried to do flower pots, but it just didn't work like the pigs. I'm so glad there are still some around. Did you see the one that Joseph Beth Booksellers? That pig was called Ernest HAMmingway and my office got the proceeds from the sale of that pig. The four pigs called Swine Lake were my favorite because they looked so lovely in their tutus and toe shoes!

COUNTRY---WTG on the loss. Keep it up, girlfriend! Are you walking in the morning? I've got a free phone time from 6 a.m. to 6:40. Wish we could gab and tread at the same time!

Okay, guys, it's past my bedtime and I'd really like to get up in the morning and walk. I know FILLISE is probably not on because she's out of town, but I wanted to report that I recorded over 12,000 steps today. That counts the 5,000 on the treadmill this morning. Do you all think this is a good number of steps? I started parking my car way out in the parking garage just to get in a few extra chances to walk.

Good night! Catch you later!

Hi again ladies. Good to hear how great things are going for most of us!

Agape3737, super-big congratulations on such a weight loss!

My nerves are going nutty today. Yesterday's e-mail from hubby said he wouldn't be home any time soon. Today's e-mail said he hopes to call me soon before they head home. But there's a mail drop planned for this Friday, and I can't think that they would be sending people to the boat if they were on their way home. :?: So I'm bouncing off the walls 'til I find out something for sure.

Had comfort food for dinner tonight, which involved potatoes. :nono: I win some, I lose some, it seems. I'm trying to do a no-sugar, no-flour variant for a week or two to see if I can break 190, I think that'll help me get my motivation back. Oh, I wanted the toast that came with my dinner, but I fed it to the baby instead! (It's WW.)

Excercise is still good at least. Got in 2.5 miles yesterday and another two today. I'm loving this warm weather and the guys without their shirts. Sadly, it's supposed to be only 58 tomorrow. :( Might rain too, but I'm hoping not. It was raining when I came home from getting dinner out, so perhaps that will take care of it.

Good night to all-- it's late here, so I am sure most of you are sleeping. Spent most of the day in town. Pre-registaring dh for his surgery next Wednesday. It took longer than we thought, but now it is done.

WIW today, and I was still the same this morning. Didn't do too good on food today. Only had time for an orange for breakfast, then we went to Golden Corral for lunch. All was okay until I got what was supposed to be a no sugar added jello cake. I know that it was too sweet to be sugar free. I was steaming mad!! So I skipped my SF jello tonight. Seems like something gets me coming and going. Oh well, time to move on. We are planning a little trip tomorrow up to the Indian Casino for their Prime Rib and King Crab Legs Buffet. We have some coupons that are only good until the end of March. Last time we went dh got lucky and one 240.00. Well anyway, he wants to get out once before he has to be cooped up for awhile. Should be fun, and the food is wonderful.

Sorry I am not taking the time to answer to all, but will catch up tomorrow sometime. I am tired, and am going to bed. Sweet dreams my dear friends.

I just got in from an hour run. I don't mean to brag, but I am so glad I found I can run that long. I am signed up for a 10K a week from Saturday and I was really worried about being able to participate. I do so much better running in the morning than in the evening. Good thing the race is early. I took my 2 sons out to dinner last night (dh is in New Orleans for a meeting). I had a grilled chicken greek salad and it had a ton of chicken on it. Of course I ate all of the chicken, plus a little hummus on pita. I was very full. Are we doing the scale challenge again? I hope so, because I don't want to weigh anytime soon. Speaking of challenges, I am having a hard time with the vegetable challenge. Is it veggies and fruits? For some reason this week I am eating very little v/f, and I usually load up on them. Also, I don't think I've seen any other posts with people's totals. Is there another thread started for this Deb?

Jackie-I just checked my old Weight Watchers book. I reached my goal of 160 on March 17, 2000. So I have not weighed any less than that for 3 years. In those 3 years, I have added strength training, walked, ran, started Sugarbusters, moved to South Carolina, etc. So I feel like I have changed things around. When I read the post from Deb yesterday about maintaining, I noticed that the writer worked sooo hard to lose the last few pounds and to say at her goal weight. Did you read that one? I sort of found it to be discouraging. Sometimes I think I just do not work hard enough to lose, so then I get down on myself. Other times I blame my metabolism or my big bones. Anyway, I feel good with this WOE and I am going to continue eating the SB way. On to more important topics--what color are your nails? And how is dd doing with her weight loss?

Crystle-Wow 82 pounds gone. That is fantastic. Was it all with Sugarbusters?

Nicole-Welcome! Enjoy that baby -- I bet s/he has grown so much already. Great weight loss-have you lost 30 or 45? Either way, you are rockin and rollin :)

Monet-Don't you just hate the scales!! I wanted to throw mine away yesterday. I could just picture all the lights, etc. coming on when the power came back. I bet you jumped to the ceiling. Glad your back is better.

Earlybird-Your son had good intentions, but did he have to buy something that hard to resist? Have fun in the yard.

Jecrites-I agree that the 2 older kids could do a little to clean up their rooms. It sounds like you came to a reasonable compromise with them. At least they weren't inside all day. I was never too good about enforcing cleanup and 2 of my3 kids are so messy. So I admire you for starting early.

Heartmom-What are king size M&Ms? Whatever, I hope they are gone. You're right-today is a brand new day!

Sheanne-That is great that you are losing--the small losses will add up. Guzzle, guzzle... Get that foot looked at. It sounds so painful. Let us know what the dr. about the bloodwork, too.

Trish-I loved your story about your son and cleaning his room. That's great that he will even clean it at 17!

Zanne-A fitness center in a grocery store-that's a new one on me. You are funny to be hiding your workouts from dh. Let us know when he notices.

Deb-Good for you for taking a day off from walking. We need to be flexible, right? I liked Frida--funny how she and her dh's mistress cooked for him. They really fattened him up, huh? Thanks for the help with my picture. Like I said, I am usually in denim and t shirts, not so dressed up as in that picture.

Quilter-WTG on resisting the burned popcorn :) We ate at Tellers in Hyde Park. Everystore we went in had HIGH prices. We did not see rookwood pavillion. We walked in Newport on the River and walked right out. It was too corporate and is identical to a shopping center in Columbus. Hyde Park was fun, but didn't buy anything. I did see some beautiful pots. My friend bought my plane ticket, so I didn't feel right leaving her to look you up. We will get together someday!!!

GBMM-where is dh? Maybe the exercise will help calm your nerves.

Teensy--Sounds like you did good at Golden Corral. That Indian casino dinner sounds to die for. Let us know how much you win.

I think I am almost caught up. Hello to everyone I missed and have a great Thursday.

Morning All:wave:

Just call me lazy today. I just woke up for the second time. When I got up earlier, to take the kids to school it was raining, so no walk was going to take place, that was for sure. ELI was still sleeping, so I just figured I'd lie there but promptly fell right back to sleep. Was surprised! Unfortunately, I don't feel more rested, it's more like I want more sleep!

Have to go to the kids school today to volunteer. The ministry was hoping I'd come and volunteer there as I usually do but had to tell him I can't. He has 12 palettes of food arriving today and desperately needs help. May try to go tomorrow instead. The kids start their spring break tomorrow but LAUREN still has to go tomorrow by 10am to work on sets for BYE BYE BIRDIE. Saturday as well. So, I'll probably drop her off and then go over to help out the ministry, that is, unless MICHAEL has some sort of plan he's failed to tell me about that involves me schleping him somewhere! One never knows with my kids:nono:

Want to p/u where I left off last night before I find myself having to rush off and get ready to go...

MONET, you just KNOW that 7lb gain is NOT fat, there's no way in the world it could be. I don't care if you had a chocolate bar here or there, that won't do it, at least not 7lbs worth, so don't worry about it, it's going to come back down. It's due to something entirely else, or at least in most part.

TRISH, ahhh, you just know me so well, I was getting ready to come a huntin! Hope those hormones help you in the way they should. Not to worry about the gain, it's temp I'm sure.

EARLY, welcome back, thought we may have lost you there. Glad I was wrong:D Did you have a nice birthday? What did you do to celebrate? Okay, explain to one who doesn't cook, a spinach salad made with eggs I can understand, but with catsup? I'd take those chocolates and throw them in the freezer, don't bother eating them. When you get to goal, they'll be there, but hopefully, you'll have forgotten about them, or even better, not even want them. Think of it as I have so in the past with Hershey's...they've been around long enough and will most likely be so for years to come so it's not like you won't be able to get it later, just can't eat it now. Tell DS if he wants to send you Godiva to make sure it's the new little high cocoa content chocolate squares they know have. Surprised they didn't melt along the way, unless they were packed with a cooling pack. I personally don't use fructose, but others do. In small amounts I guess it's okay, but I wouldn't use it in recipes where it calls for a lot, which some have posted on our recipe board. Remember, it's made with corn or beets. You can't find fructose made from fruit here in the states anymore, only place I know of is in the UK

JEC, here's an idea with the toys...tell them if they don't put them away, you'll take them away. If they don't put them away, take them away and put them in a box. If they ask for them to play with them, they have to leave you a "deposit". You tell them that if they play with it and before bed you see they've put it away properly, you'll give them the deposit back, and they can keep the toy in their room, otherwise, you take the toy and keep the deposit. If they don't ask for certain toys within a certain time frame, figure they really don't care too much about it and the next garage sale you have, sell it. Just an idea. Sometimes the kids just have way too many toys!

HEART, geez, after all that, only up one - consider yourself lucky. I'd surely of gained a ton more than that. Heck, I've eaten a bigger bag of MnM's than king size! For some reason, when you've indulged as such it's hard to get back on plan, it will probably take 3 good days of eating OP to get the desire of sweets out of your system, but you know you can do it! I'm right along there with you!!!

SHEANN, you'll see, the water will help. There's some good info on the RECOMMENDED READING BOARD on how important water is to us and in helping us lose weight. Congrats on passing your assesment test. I'm sure you'll do fine with the algebra. Heck if I can remember any of that stuff from school though! Math wasn't one of my fav. subjects. Glad to hear your DM is doing better. Hope the lump is nothing when you go to the Dr. next week. Hope this WOE helps keep you off the dia-meds. My DM just started on them unfortunately, but hopes with a little diet and exercise she'll be able to get off of them. Seems when she does try and eats well her numbers are good. Many people have been able to go off the meds just with diet and exercise alone, which is what I hope for her.

QUILTER, sorry I forgot about your meetings, you did explain it to us in the past - chalk it up to my bad memory tied in with age;)

MOMMA, I can not even imagine having to deal with DH being away and on top of it, not knowing when he'll be home. My sister was married to a military guy and if she had been so today I really don't know what she'd do. With 5 kids, 4 of them being 6 and under, it's hard enough, but if her DH she has now was away, I honestly know she wouldn't be able to handle anything. I give military families loads of credit for so many things - not an easy life. I hope you hear from him soon, with good news, of course:D If you ever want to talk, just let me know, e-mail me your telly whenever if you wish, love chatting with the gals from the board:D

TEENSY, enjoy your day at the casino - hope you win big!

LIN, wow, that's wonderful you'll be doing a 10k! I hope you have good weather, and I'm sure you'll shine! This week it's the veggie challenge and girl, you are NOT alone! Since Monday I personally haven't had a single vegetable, not a single solitary piece. Don't think I'm proud of it. Today though, I do plan on eating some spinach, though with me, planning and doing are two totally different things, but here's to some hope! There's no specific goal thread, though I did think about posting one, no, you can just post your veggies eaten on any day right on this board. So far though, I haven't seen anyone do so, so maybe we aren't alone in this! Will work on the picture later:)

Okay, I'm outta here for the moment. Going to see what I can scrounge up and call breakfast in this house. If time permits, I'll post some recipes on the recipe board. I posted a slew last week. Anyone try any of them? I think one of our next challenges will to be to try a recipe that's on the board that's not been tried before and to give us your own "RECIPE REVIEW!!!" Any thoughts?

Have a wonderful day everyone!

I recently started SB--really just this week. I have been feeling weak yesterday and today. I had a few moments of nausea and a little shakiness yesterday, but I had a few triscuits and felt better. I tried to run yesterday evening and could not make my usual 3 miles. I ran/walked about 4 miles instead. If this is withdrawal, how long should I expect it to last?

Thanks,
K

P.S. I ate like a little piggy yesterday night because I had a small lunch. I had three Healthy Choice sugar free fudge ice cream bars...and dinner!

Good Wednesday Morning!

I'm sure everyone is already in the swing of the day. I have been busy. Lot to do day as I will be off tomorrow.

We are going to Maryland for my niece's wedding. Not looking forward to the 8-9 hour drive. So I probably won't be back on the board Friday thru Sunday.

I have my cooler packed with cheese, fruit, water and diet cokes. I have a can of nuts, an egg sandwich in case we stop at a fast food place for lunch. 2 pieces of ww bread and yogurt to take for breakfast since the hotel has continental breakfast. I am taking some ww buns for the ride home in case we stop at fast food places. So I should be ok for the most part. I do know we are having pizza for the rehearsal dinner Friday night, but I will figure out something.

Having dinner tonight with 2 friends. But should be fine there. Have lots to do tonight with packing and all. May not get in my 4th day of exercise until Sunday. But will try.

Bob, Now you and Kate pull hard for the CATS tonight. I will probably miss the first half. so cheer for me too!

Trish, I hope we meet in the final game. We have to get past The Badgers tonight. Do you all play tonight? Good luck

Zanne, sounds like you were successful on your lunch yesterday. Good for you.

Deb, I sure hope you haven't told Eli of your description of him. Like the receipe challenge. I need soemthing to make me try different things and get out of this rut. How's the yoga coming?

Kim, Boy you are doing it all, parking far fromthe building and getting in 12,000 steps. That wt is going to fall right off you. Keep up the good work.

GBMM, My heart goes out to you not knowing about your DH. I pray for him and you that he is safe and also give hime a be thank you for protecting all of us. You are doing great with your exercise. Keep up the good work, DH will have a wonderful surprise when he gets home.

Teensy, have fun at the casino. Hope you win!. When something sneaks in on you like that jello cake, you ar smart tomake a concession somewhere else.

Lin, If you have been at your goal for 3 years I think that is awesome. If you are happy with it and big boned that is probably where you need to be. You have probably been adding muscle also. I'm so impressed that you can run for an hour. Bet of luck on your run. I envy people that can do that. DD has lost 6 so far. She is a little discourage that it is not more, but perserverence is the key and I think she is committed. My sis asked her what kind of cake she wanted for her shower and she said it didn't matter as she wasn't eating any. I just hope she sticks with it for the duration. Oh, my nails are Ching Ching Cherry! and toes too!

Chubby, Welcome to our board. You will find SB is a great WOE. I wouldn't think it would make you sink or weak. Maybe you aren't eating enough. Good luck.

Hope to check in this afternoon before I head home.

Good Morning all

Sorry I missed WIW but I practically slept the last two days away. I had a fever and a cough but feeling a bit better this morning. WIW was good to me as I was back down to pre-vacation weight of 199.5. And this morning I was down to 198. That's probably because I have practically eaten nothing the last couple of days. Yesterday all I had all day was a couple of slices of toast and sf jam at 6 a.m., a fried egg on toast about 4.p.m. and some french fries later in the evening. Just didn't feel like eating anything else. So I hope it doesn't go back up when I get back to eating normally.

Jack-K - I liked the ditty your co-worker suggested for your charms. Too bad you can't use it . Have a good trip to Maryland.

Deb - That was a great article on Weight Maintenance. It's so true that we can't go back to eating the way we used to once we have reached goal. This has to be a life-time committment. I'd like to do the veggie challenge but this is not a good week for me as I have not been eating much of anything the last few days. Maybe next week if you want to continue it.

Agape - Congrats on the 23 pounds lost. How long did it take you to lose that much?

YellowRose - A belated HAPPY BIRTHDAY. Glad to hear that the news from the doctor was good. Sounds like you have a very thoughtful hubby.

Sef - Most of the meals that we had in the hotels we stayed in were o.k. We had a few buffets which had a good selection of salads and veggies. But most of the meals in other restaurants usually came with just a salad, usually swimming in olive oil which I don't like. I guess I am just a bit too picky. There was no problem getting enough fruit. There was always an ample supply at the breakfast buffet.

Zanne - I've just tried a few of those sweet potato chips and they taste weird. I couldn't even finish the few I had in a dish and had to have a couple of ww crackers to take the taste away. I know how it is to go in a store for a few things and coming out with a wagon full. It happens to me all the time. Sounds like you did o.k. with the eating on the school trip yesterday.

Quilter - Congrats on your loss this week. I am sure you will be down in the 180's very soon. You've done really well to have lost 12.5 pounds since the end of January.

Tranquil - Glad to hear your good news that you are down again this week. Slow but sure is the best way.

BOB - Glad you enjoyed your dinner with Susan. I'm sure those extra pounds will come off soon.

Chacha5 - Welcome to sb. That's great that you have your dh doing this woe with you. It does make it easier having someone else in the household eating the same way. Good luck.

Ldblond - Maintaining is certainly better than a gain. Sorry to hear that you are still so sore. Hope you can see some improvement soon.

Linworthlady - I also have stayed at the same weight for over a year, just fluctuating up and down a few pounds. If you find a way to beat it please let me know!

Mrsturk - Welcome to sb. That's great that you lost 30 pounds after having the baby and another 15 since starting sb. You've sure made a good start on this woe. That's neat having a Mom and daughter couple on the board.

Monet - Sorry to hear that WIW was not good to you, but it sounds like it is water weight so hopefully it will be gone soon. Glad to hear you are feeling better.

Earlybird - I can relate to your feeling about your new scale. When I had a new digital scale last year it weighed over 5 pounds heavier than my old mechanical scale. I started off by always deducting the five pounds but that got tedious. Eventually I just went by the new scales weight but also upped my starting weight so it still showed the total I had lost.

Sheanne - Congrats on passing the math test and good luck with the algebra test.

Chubby - Welcome to the board. There's no reason that this woe should make you feel weak and nauseous. Maybe you just aren't eating enough. Why don't you post a days menu.

Have a good day everyone.

Marie.

Just finished walking and taking a shower...I'm amazed at how much one woman can sweat just from walking. :) It is beautiful outside. I hope I can sneak out this evening to walk instead of on the treadmill. I don't work as hard but it's so nice to get out.

Monet....I use "the hole" as my target. Another good one would be the "block". We shoot so much we needed a target that would hold up. They cost a little more than some of the others but hold up in the long run. We use to shoot at "bucky" but kept having to replace his target and he started falling apart..LOL

Lin.....I can't imagine being able to run for an hour. That is such an accomplishment. I know the numbers don't add up but it's actually closer to 87 pounds...(scale changes) And yes all Sugar Busters and exercise. I started walking at the same time as SB. I don't think I would have had the dramatic results I had at first without getting active.

Kim...girl...I wish I was up that early. That would be so fun to chat and walk. You could hear me gasping for air..hehehe You are doing so good with your walking and even going so far as to move the car away from the building. You should be proud of yourself.

Jack-K....sounds like you have all your bases covered for your trip. That is super to plan like that. I tend to forget and find myself starving by the time I can get to something OP to eat. But then again I don't go out or away too often so maybe that is why the lack of planning. I do plan well for the deer lease though...everyone eats junk and more junk out there.

Rosalie...hope you start feeling better.

ChubbyHmongGirl....I've heard if your body is getting use to eating way differently you can feel poorly till it gets used to getting it's fule from a different source. If you use to eat very high processed carbs and are eating more protien now your body will take a few days to adjust. I'm no doctor so if you feel really badly don't ignore what your body is telling you. Welcome!

Deb....you are not lazy. Sometimes we just need that snuggle time in the mornings. You walk/run and do yoga...that is not a lazy woman. :)

GBMM...praying for you. I know it's hard when you are not sure when your hubby is getting back.

Zanne....too cool getting out there with the kids. Memories and exercise for mom...you can't beat it.

Hugs to all!!!! I need to get. I always miss half of who I meant to say howdy to, so HOWDY everybody!!!!!!!!!

Love,
Crystle

Just a quick question to anyone that may know. My mom's doc told her not to eat oatmeal because it's starchy and turns to sugar. Does anyone know anything about this?

HiedieHo All!!

Read some posts yesterday and wrote a couple of things and then didn't post it! Went to NH, today was current events and they were interested in the war news. Also evokes memories of other wars they have seen in their lifetime. When I think about it, people my age have seen a few.....WWII, Korean, Vietnam, Desert Storm, etc., the wars of other nations like the 6 Day War. More than we want to know about! Of course it helps relieve things when I read one of the jokes I've copied from here or have been sent to me!

TEENSY: Prayers for your DH.

ZANNE: Crocheting and knitting is good for the diet!

CHA: Welcome! How nice to have DH doing this with you. You will definitely learn a lot here!

LDBLOND: Bless you for taking the energy to type us a message!

MRS: Welcome, Sounds like you're on the right track!

SHEANNE: Congrtas on pasing the math test!

GREAT: Hope you have some definite news from DH soon! Where is he?

DEB: Bye Bye Birdie should be fun. My GD's class is doing Lil Abner. She is forever at rehearsals or working on sets, she always wears more than one hat!

ROSALIE: Try making your own chios, a world of difference!

Can't understand it, but it seems I am waking up earlier. I'm awake at 6a. Still going to bed between 1 & 2a. I don't seem to be tired from it.

Well, going to get some lunch, some leftover chicken from last night. I took chicken fillets, browned them in a smidge of olive oil, w/ some red onion and peppers, added some cherry tomatoes that needed using, some McCormick's Monterey seasoning, salt. pepper, paprika and garlic. Let it simmer until done. Very tasty!

Then I have to make some cornbread for tonight's HFH Potluck for the college kids in the Collegiate Challenge. Met them Sunday seem to be a good group. Thre from Baker College in Michigan.

These posts a;; seem to be one liners!
Take care, Shirley

Hello everyone!

DEB, I didn't care how much the book was, I already had it in mind to get one if there was one on there. I am very determined to get this weight off and even better, keep it off, and since you have already done it and know what you are talking about, I'm gonna listen!!! I do plan on getting rid of some of the toys. I know there's a bunch of them in there that all 3 of them are too old for and then some that just need to be trashed; was hoping to get that done before we moved, but it didn't happen.

GBMM, Which branch is your hubby in? Mine is in the A.F. but hasn't been shipped out. Girl, I do understand the nerves going nutty. My hubby was in Saudi on 9/11; actually he was in Kenya, but trying to get back to Saudi. While he was doing all of this, I was having problems with a fake tumor in my head and had to have my mom come to take care of my kids. I do hope and pray for you and your hubby that he is safe and gets back home safe and very very soon.

LIN, So far it seems to be working with the kids. They did get their clothes picked up yesterday and went outside. Today they get to pick up the toys and then go out after finishing that. They seem to be cooperating with this way of doing things.

I send out a big WELCOME to all the new people. I'm sorry that I can't remember all of your names.

Well I'm gonna get for now, will check back in later.

Good Morning Friends--

Hope everyone is having a great day. The sun is shining here, but the wind is blowing again. I want to get out and work in my flower beds, but the darn weather is not cooperating. We had three inches of snow yesterday in about half an hour. Of course it didn't last. But it is supposed to be cold and rainy for the next few days.

Linworthlady-- Way to go on all that running. I sure wish that I could run. My bladder doesn't like it when I try. No matter what I do, I just can't seem to hold it in.

Deb--Isn't it funny how that works sometimes. The more sleep you get the worse you feel. Our dogs get me up at 4:30 sometimes, and I can't get back to sleep right away, but when I do then I feel twice as bad. Guess I should just stay up. Sounds like you should maybe put a taxi sign on your vehicle. LOL.

Monet-- I agree with Deb, there is no way that you can gain that much fat in that short of time. I'm sure it is water weight. Try and drink abit more to flush it out. Glad to hear that your back if better. Hope that you have not pinched any nerves. That is what dh is going to have surgery for. You had me laughing at the thought of all the noise blaring you out of bed.

Cha Cha 5 and Mrsturk---WELCOME! Great place to come for support, and encouragement.

Jecrites--I raised two boys, and boy do I know the fright-sight of bedrooms. Oldest one could do a good job of cleaning, but youngest one was a hopeless cause. He is still bad. When he is here in between runs, (works on a fishing boat in Alaska) our guest room is a disaster area.

Heartmom--I think that the more sweets that you eat, the more your body will crave them. Try and stick with your fruits. You can do this, and we are here for any help we can give.

Sheanne--Congrats on the weigh in, and on the Math test. Good luck on the Algebra one. Glad to hear that your Mom is doing better. I have heard that bone spurs are very painful, hopefully the doctor can do something for you.

Jackie--Hope you have a great trip. Sounds like you are fully prepared. Just scrape the topping off the pizza and leave the crust. You will be fine.

Trish--

Zanne--Sounds like you had a good time with the kids. Nice job staying OP. Pancakes are one of my favorites. My doggies too. That is about the only human food that I give them. (They are Bassethounds, and are already overweight) They love pancakes!! No syrup, just butter.

GBMM--Hope that you wil hear something soon that will put your mind to rest.

ChubbyH--WELCOME TO SB. I too am new, but I would have to say that yes, I think your body is probably going through sugar withdrawal. I would guess that the first week would be the worse. Remember to use the treats in moderation. Just MHO. Good luck on your journey, and the people here are great with any help that you need.

Rosalie--Sorry to hear you have been feeling under the weather. Awesome job on the weight loss!!

Hi Everyone!

I'm going to have to use any other day of the week as my weight in! It never seems to fail that Wednesdays are my highest days!  What can I do, eh?!!!

I guess yesterday was too much for DS--he started coughing something awful last night and it continues today. He was sort of getting a cold before yesterday, but sometimes I can just give him tylenol and send him to school and he's fine. I haven't been able to get much done around here cause he want's mommy to keep him company.

So, I've been doing lots of knitting and when DS did pass out for an hour, I got in my 45 minutes of weights. I have to go back and keep him company (our family room is in the basement, puter on main floor) so I think I'll put in a half hour on the elliptical. Hmmm, exercising twice in one day--NOPE--no fever here! I seem to have a lot of energy considering how tired I was this morning.

I have found one downfall in my home--I found a cookie I like--Lemon Cream Crunch--a lemon sandwich cookie. Good thing is that I can stop at 2 of them.

I've also found this week that I'm not craving the junk so much. If I'm hungry, I've been wanting fruit. Coincidental with the exercising??? I did buy some maple syrup covered popcorn yesterday. Small bag I divided for the 3 of us. I only had 5 pieces of popcorn and put it away! I just now had a snack of cashews and only had a small handful instead of sitting eating half the can. I'm just listening to my body.

Gotta go. DS is calling. And I want to sneak in more exercise before DH gets home:s:

Just catching up before I head out.

Rosalie, Htae that you have been sick. Is it something you picked up in SPain. Glad you are some better and hoping that you improve daily. Glad you vacation gain is gone.

Country, 87 pounds is an awesome accomplishment. You should be so proud. I firmly beleive planning and being prepared are the key to success with this WOE.

Jecrites, SB recommends regular old fashioned oats not instant. I have never heard that before. It is good for your choloestrol too. Glad you found soemthing that will work with your kids picking up. Rewards could also maybe work.

Teensy, Keep that snow to yourself. I don't want to see any more for a long time.

Zanne, you are putting that energy to go use. WTG. Stay out of those cookies, they are just going to make you want more.

Talk to you all Monday morning. Have a great weekend.

Hi again all. Still doing pretty good on exercise; so-so on eating. But I'm improving on that.

For those who don't know, DH is in the Navy. They were deployed in the M.E. last year, and got sent over just for the war in mid-Feb. They'd been home about 6 months between deployments. I get e-mail from him fairly regularly but the nature of submarines is secrecy, so I do not know exactly where he is, nor can he tell me specifically when he will get back.

I haven't heard anything about oatmeal turning right to sugar, but I do know that cutting the oats, which they do for instant and "fast cook" oatmeal drastically raises the cereal's GI rating. Old-fashioned oats cook in less than two minutes in my microwave, so personally I don't see the need for anything faster. :)

Hello Ladies,
This has been a great week for me. Has it been perfect, no. I have to keep on keeping on. It is good to have my daughter on board. Haven't been excercising like I want to. I love doing the excercise in the pool at the gyn. I have to do it in the morning or else I won't do it. Things have just been happening to prevent me from going. But, you know what, I am getting my barings and come hell or high water, I will be there nect week.

I can say that I've been getting in lots of water and veggies. Mon. -- 2 cups of spinach and 2 cups of brocolli rabe, Tues. -- 6 cups of salad w/ lettuce, cukes, red cabbage, onions, tomatoes, sprinkled w/ feta cheese. Today I had 1 cup cabbage cooked in sesame seed oil (few drops), yummy and 1/2 cup of Italian green beans. As for water, I have been drinking 126 to 168 ozs. I also like to drink a couple of cups of green and chia teas mixed together w/lemon and fructose. Oh and yes, I do have my 2 cups of coffee in the morning.

BigOrangeBabe ~~ Thanx for the help. Wouldn't Oxyclean take the color out of the shirt?

Zanne ~~ Thanx so much.

Jack-K ~~ My doctor and the nurse was indeed happy. The nurse wrote in big letters in my chart. HAS LOST WEIGHT! When my doctor came in she gave me a BIG hug. She asked me to keep in touch with her. Then she told me to get out, I didn't need her anymore! LOL Have a wonderful trip. You sound prepared!

LinWorthLady ~~ I saw my doctor the last week of Jan. I was reading SB then. I got on the good foot (start SB WOE going into the 2 week of Feb. with the help of Debbie . I certainly didn' t know what I was doing. I had been on Atkins and was trying to come from Atkins to SB. It was kinda confusing.

Chacha5 ~~ I would like to say WELCOME to this board. Help in here in every way.

Sheanne ~~ Thanx so much. I've won the battle, now I have to win the war. It does get better every day I do this WOE and some days are better than others, that's life.

Debbie ~~ I have to say I'm a happy camper :cp:. I hear it (CONGRATS) :cb:. LOL My doctor looked at me for a long time and then gave me a great big hug. Her husband is the one who did the heart catherization. After she checked me she told me to get out, I didn't need her anymore. She asked me to keep in touch with my weigh progress. I was just too happy. I couldn't wait, to tell EVERYBODY. My kids were really happy and well as my moma. Oh, I forgot to tell you my daughter start her son on SB. Really the whole family is participating in it. Is that wonderful or what? Hubby is a little hard headed. He does it enough where she doesn't have to cook different meals and that's great. I couldn't help but laugh at your reply to the "air" tingy. I responded the way you did when my brother asked me the same question:dizzy: . I did find a site that says the right way of breathing helps in weigh loss. I can send it to you if you like. Are there store bought cookies that are legal, if so what are they. I see sugarless cookies, but I think they are a nono.

Roselie ~~ Thank you dear! And congrads on yur weight loss. I start in Feb, going into the second week. I hope you are feeling better. That flu and cold business is the pits.

Jecrites ~~ Doctor maybe right with instant oatmeal, however, old fashioned or what is called Irish steel cut is good for us to eat. The body will not absorb it all bacause of the fiber. Tell mom to get the real deal and eat away!

ChubbyHmong~~ Welcome, this is the place to be. Help is here, good luck...

Country ~~~ CONGRADS are in order! Whew, I can't wait to get there. I know you will be praying me threw. How far are you from your goal?

I'm outtie, got two grandbabies here. They are napping now, so I guess I will slip into kitchen and see what's cooking. See yall later!!

Love Ya,

Momma,
We have prayers out here who lift up our men and women in the armed services that God would sent His angels to encamp round about them to keep them safe, to get back home to their loved ones. I lift you up as well, that God gives you strength and hope that your DH will return home to you and the babies. Angels are real and they work for God Almighty on our (your) behave, only believe.

Sincerely,

I want to thank EVERYONE who told me about the oatmeal. I've always heard that oatmeal was good for you, so it shocked me when she told me that her doc told her that. I'll make sure to tell her to get the right kind from now on. Thanks gals for giving me your info. on that.

Agape, As I am new to the boards and everything and don't know what all has been going on with you, I still want to say CONGRATS to doing so well at the doc office. I know it makes you feel great when they tell you good stuff. You just keep on your keeping on and doing great!!!!!:cb: :cp:

Zanne, Exercising twice in one day...YOU GO GIRL!!!!!! :strong:I just wish I had that energy too! I would love to get in once a day every day of the week, but sometimes I just have too much to do. I guess I need one of these :drill: around. I'll get it going one day though, right now I'm concentrating on at least 3 times a week. Got one more day this week, and maybe I can sneak in two!:chin:

Hey All:wave:

Can you believe, the computer is actually free at the moment?!? MICHAEL is in the family room with 3 of his (girl)friends. Two came home from school with us and the other one got picked up by Mom's Taxi Service. I know, I'm a gluten for punishment. We won't mention it's raining here again and that I went out in it, with no gas and the brake light still coming on (guy couldn't take and fix it yesterday, unfortunately).

Got the next list of tests from the lead teacher for MICHAEL'S academy for which I need to find parent volunteers for today when I went to proctor. I'll be happy when this is all done-it's the busy time of year for me with the school, otherwise it's usually not much more involved beyond the meetings.

Whew! Glad to see the board back up. Started the above and then couldn't get on, glad to hear it wasn't just me to those of you who replied to my e-mail.

Since then I had to take LAUREN to her bbsitting job and then go p/u pizza for MICHAEL and "his women." Still raining too. At least it gave me a chance to go get some gas, I was running on fumes. That's another $28 down the drain, or should I say, polluting the air!

CHUBBY, http://members.aol.com/debelli/sbnewbie_welcome.gif What you are experiencing for the most part is sugar withdrawl. Just think of it like a detox from drugs, it's similar in many ways. It will pass. Most people it takes at least 3 full days, some a little more, others maybe less, but it's normal. Just stay OP 100% and you'll get through it. I don't recommend you eating the sf bars, even though they are sf your brain doesn't know this and it will continue to crave the sugary foods you're use to eating. Totally detox from this stuff and try to use as little artificial sweeteners as possible at the beginning. Trust me, it helps. Don't hesitate to ask questions, we're all more than happy to help!
BTW, happy belated birthday! Hope it was a good one!!!!:D

JACKK, if you see this, here's hopes you have a safe trip. Sounds like you are really prepared to stay on track, you'll do great! I've never not been able to stay OP on a trip if I want, it's so easy to do. We'll miss you over the weekend, but do enjoy yourself to the max. Hey, will you be near a TRADER JOES??? They have them there, you should see-if you're near one you HAVE to go if you've never been and even if you have, it's a definite must in my book! Oh, ELI knows that I say that and even knows BOB says what she says about him! LOL!!! Remember, I only speak the truth - maybe one day you'll see for yourself:D Yoga was good on Monday, I like it a lot! Price is right, that's for sure.

ROSALIE, glad to hear you are back down on the scale. I hope it continues it's downward trend. We'll continue on with all the challenges. Don't worry, I haven't had a veggie yet this week, I'm the worst of the bunch!

COUNTRY, come to Miami in the dead heat and humidity of the summer and walk. You can actually wring out your clothes. Not only do you come back dripping but you don't quite smell that great either! Trust me, I'm lazy and admit it, even though I walk/jog and do yoga once a week, afterwards it's more like lull time for me during the day. I wish I had the energy of many on this board!!!

TEENSY, with the oatmeal, he may have been talking about instant which is not good. Oatmeal, being a starchy carb is a higher GI food, but it's just fine to eat, in the right quantity. You have to make sure it's rolled or steel cut oats, not instant. Some Dr.s' just don't know the differences, esp. if they aren't skilled in nutrition. Snow, did you say snow? What's that????? 4:30am to take out the dogs, no wonder I don't have pets...bad enough I'm up at 6am to take kids!!!!

SEF, your GD and LAUREN sound so much alike. She really dove right in to drama at school and is loving every minute of it. It's too bad that the freshman and sophmores don't get to be in any of the major productions, they reserve that for the upper classman, but she's getting to learn about all the other aspects of the theatre.

JEC, did you get the coupon I sent through half.com? Hope so, and hope you can use it or was able to use it. You'll really like the book and once you read it, you'll see why I do recommend everyone on SB read it. Be careful though what you get rid of with the toys, think about what we had as kids that are collectible. There's a bunny I had gotten the kids when they were young, like a blanket bunny, which LAUREN still has, which I've seen sell on Ebay for over $200 - people are nuts!!!!

ZANNE, hope DS feels better! You are so funny, did you sniff that cookie out? Heck, there's never been a time I could stop at 2 of anything, well, maybe 2 gallons of ice cream may be a bit too much;) How about making agave popcorn instead? It works!!!!

MOMMA, isn't it amazing to think that in the ocean, in the middle of nowhere that a computer would even work, much less getting e-mails to loved ones at home! I do think it's amazing! I hope you hear often from him. Boy, he will surely be surprised to see the new you when he gets back!!!

AGAPE, what exactly does the broccoli rabe taste like? I've seen it but have never tried it. That's so great with the Dr., thanks for telling us about it. That's wonderful that your DD got her DS on SB. There are so many great recipes that kids will love he shouldn't have any trouble staying OP. He has no idea how this is going to help his future health. Tell him GOOD LUCK!!! Aunt Gussies makes some wonderful biscottis with spelt that are totally legal but probably not the easiest to find. I would tell you to check out the recipe boards, there's tons of cookie recipes on there and you're bound to find something worthwhile. If you can find the FEARN cake mixes in your area, the carob and spice are legal when using the agave in place of the honey it calls for and boy, do I love the carob!!!! FEARN also makes a great SGWW pancake mix you can use for a variety of other things as well.

Well, seems I'm caught up once again! YIPEE!!!! I'll try to check in later, otherwise tomorrow. Have to take LAUREN to school around 11am, may go to the ministry after for a few hours, not sure though.

Oh, exciting news, it's suppose to get 69 degrees on Monday!!!!!!!!!!!!! Pray to Mother Nature to do as we all hope she will-we need some relief here!!!!

Good Friday Morning!

WOW, where is everyone? Okay, granted, the site was giving many problems yesterday but only 2 posts all night long???

I just woke up, no school today, so I didn't have to get up as early as I usually do, though 7am isn't like sleeping in either. Though, I'm tired still. Tried to go back to sleep again and it just wasn't happening for me, so I'm up, unfortunately. Haven't checked to see how the weather is out there after all the rain we had yesterday but honestly, I'm in the mood to walk but my body is screaming "nooooooooooo!!!!!" I feel drained. I even went to bed at 10pmish last night, you'd think I was rested by this morning! Oh well!

MIATA, congrats on having stayed the same this week-lots better than gaining! Enjoy your ME time while DH is away. What movies are you watching? I have so many to watch that I got from the library but just can't sit still for 2 hours at a time so have to watch them in parts.

TURK, going to shorten it, if you don't mind. The board is wonderful for support, that we all know, but I have to tell you, the support you have with your DM, with you both doing this together is really something special!!!!!

Well, I'm off, going to find a few FRIDAY FUNNIES to post.

Have a wonderful weekend y'all! I'll check in later today.

The day finally arrived: Forrest Gump dies and goes to Heaven. He is met at the Pearly Gates by Saint Peter himself. The gates are closed, however, and Forrest approaches the gatekeeper.

Saint Peter says, "Well, Forrest, it's certainly good to see you. We have heard a lot about you. I must inform you that the place is filling up fast, and we've been administering an entrance exam for everyone. The tests are fairly short, but you need to pass before you can get into Heaven."

Forrest responds, "It shore is good to be here, Saint Peter. I was looking forward to this. Nobody ever told me about any entrance exams Shore hope the test ain't too hard; life was a big enough test as it was.

Saint Peter goes on, "Yes, I know Forrest. But, the test I have has only three questions. Here is the first: What days of the week begin with the letter 'T'? Second, how many seconds are there in a year? Third, what is God's first name?"

Forrest goes away to think the questions over. Forrest returns the next day and goes up to Saint Peter to try to answer the exam questions.

Saint Peter waves him up and asks, "Now that you have had a chance to think the questions over, tell me your answers."

Forrest says, "Well, the first one, how many days of the week begin with the letter 'T'? Shucks, that one's easy; that'd be Today and Tomorrow.

The saint's eyes opened wide and he exclaims, "Forrest! That's not what I was thinking, but... you do have a point though, and I guess I didn't specify, so I give you credit for that answer." "How about the next one?" says Saint Peter, "How many seconds in a year?"

"Now that one's harder," says Forrest. "But, I thunk and thunk about that, and I guess the only answer can be twelve."

Astounded, Saint Peter says, "Twelve! Twelve! Forrest, how could you come up with twelve seconds in a year?"

Forrest says, "Shucks, there gotta be twelve: January second, February second, March second......."

"Hold it," interrupts Saint Peter. "I see where you're going with it. And I guess I see your point, though that wasn't quite what I had in mind. I'll give you credit for that one too."

"Let's go on with the next and final question." says Saint Peter, "Can you tell me God's first name?"

Forrest says, "Well, shore, I know God's first name. Everybody knows it. It's Howard."

"Howard?!" asks Saint Peter. "What makes you think it's Howard?!"

Forrest answers, "It's in the prayer."

"The prayer?" asks Saint Peter, "Which prayer?"

"You know, The Lord's Prayer," responds Forrest: "Our Father, which art in Heaven, Howard be thy name......"

At Duke University, there were four sophomores taking Organic Chemistry. They did so well on all the quizzes, midterms and labs, etc., that each had an "A" so far for the semester.

These four friends were so confident that the weekend before finals, they decided to drive up to the University of Virginia and party with some friends up there. They had a great time ... however, after all the hardy-partying, they slept all day Sunday and didn't make it back to Duke until early Monday morning.

Rather than taking the final then, they decided to find their professor after the final and explain to him why they missed it. They explained that they had gone to UVA for the weekend with the plan to come back in time to study, but, unfortunately, they had a flat tire on the way back, didn't have a spare, and couldn't get help for a long time. As a result, they missed the final.

The Professor thought it over and then agreed they could make up the final the following day. The guys were elated and relieved. They studied that night and went in the next day at the time the professor had told them. He placed them in separate rooms and handed each of them a test booklet, and told them to begin. They looked at the first problem, worth 5 points, something simple about free radical formation. "Cool," they thought at the same time, each one in his separate room, "this is going to be easy." Each finished the problem and then turned the page.

On the second page was written (for 95 points):

"Which tire?"

I will post my pitiful veggie consumption of yesterday (partly because I tried a new one so I should get points for that)--2 cups of Caesar salad, 1 cup of baby carrots and 4 baby artichokes. The baby artichokes were good and there was no choke so you can eat the whole thing. Delicious dipped in melted butter, of course.

Deb-I wonder why you are so tired. You do stay super busy so I guess your body wants a rest. I hope you can sleep a little more during the kids' spring break. I have trouble sitting still for a movie too. I recently read, maybe here, that it is hard for "lean" people to sit still, always fidgeting. I am not that lean, but I sure have trouble sitting still. Last night I finally sat down (around 9:30) and started falling asleep. Did Michael enjoy his harem last night?

Jackie-I know you are gone, but have fun! Where in Maryland?

Rosalie-sorry you are sick but you gotta love the side affects with all that weight loss! Are you feeling better?

Crystle-87 pounds is so great! Enjoy your outdoor walks. I actually like to sweat, do you? I feel clean from the inside out or something like that--but gotta have a shower pretty quick to get the sticky stuff off my skin.

Shirley-I can't figure out your abbreviations. HFH?? & NH?? How did you sleep last night? It sounds like you aren't getting much sleep. My dh is in New Orleans for a meeting right now. He called me yesterday while eating a big plate of red beans and rice with a beer. Do you like crawfish? We are having a Cajun Festival soon where there is a crawfish eating contest--the sucking heads part is too much for me.

Crites-That is great that your system is working with the kids. Good luck. Consistency is one of the hard parts of parenting for me. Is your dh with you now?

Teensy-I heard on the news about all the winds out west. We get a lot of wind here on the coast too. I can hear it blowing outside right now. We have a beagle and I love basset hounds. But these hounds sure can get overweight if you don't watch it. I think Gracie would just keep eating until she died if I didn't stop her.

Susanne-I Hope your little boy feels better. WTG on getting your weights in. Do you do a full body workout with weights?

GBMM-I will pray for your dh to get home safely. Do you know when he will be home? I'm so worried about all of our forces over there.

Agape-You are doing so great. And your dr. doesn't even want to see you--that's good news. Did you lose weight on Atkins before February? You get the prize for the veggie challenge so far :)

I will post a couple recipes this morning, too.

A man was struck by a bus on a busy street. As he was lying near
death on the sidewalk, a crowd of spectators gathered around.
"A priest. Somebody get me a priest!" the man gasped.

A policeman checked the crowd and yelled, "Is anyone a priest?"

Out of the crowd stepped a little old Jewish man of at least 80 years of age. "Mr. Policeman," said the man, "I'm not a preacher.
I'm not even a Christian. But for 50 years now I'm living behind
the Catholic church on First Avenue, and every night I'm overhearing their services. I can recall a lot of it, and maybe I can be of some comfort to this man."

The policeman agreed and cleared the crowd so the man could get
through to where the injured man lay. He knelt down, leaned over the man and said in a solemn voice, "B-4, I-19, N-38, G-54, O-72. . ."

My mom admitted to being a less than fastidious housekeeper. One evening my dad returned home from work, walked into the kitchen and said, "You know, dear, I can write my name in the dust on the mantel." Mom turned to him and sweetly replied, "Well, darling, that's why I married a college graduate."

A guy was taking his first parachute jump
and his main chute failed to open. He
remembered his training and jettisoned it
and pulled his reserve chute. This one became
twisted, and our hero was left hurtling downwards.

Suddenly, he saw a guy coming up towards him
so he shouted, "Do you know anything about
parachuting?"

The guy shouted back, "Not a thing. Do you know
anything about lighting gas BBQs?"

I thought this was really nice.

Over the years I have talked a lot about military spouses,
how special they are and the price they pay for freedom too.

The funny thing about it, is most military spouses don’t consider themselves different from other spouses. They do what they have to do, bound together not by blood or merely friendship, but with a shared spirit whose origin is in the very essence of what love truly is. Is there truly a difference? You have to decide for yourself.

Other spouses get married and look forward to building equity in a home and putting down family roots. Military spouses get married and know they’ll live in base housing or rent, and their roots must be short so they can be transplanted frequently.Other spouses decorate a home with flair and personality that will last a lifetime.

Military spouses decorate a home with flare tempered with the knowledge that no two base houses have the same size windows or same size rooms. Curtains have to be flexible and multiple sets are a plus. Furniture must fit like puzzle pieces.Other spouses have immaculate living rooms and are seldom used. Military spouses have immaculate living room/dining room combos. The coffee table got a scratch or two moving from Germany, but it still looks pretty good.

Other spouses say good-bye to their spouse for a business trip and know they won’t see them for a week. They are lonely, but can survive. Military spouses say good-bye to their deploying spouse and know that they won’t see them for a month, or for a remote, a year. They are lonely, but they will survive.

Other spouses, when a washer hose blows off, call Maytag and then write a check out for getting the hose reconnected. Military spouses will cut the water off and fix it themselves.Other spouses get used to saying hello to friends they see all the time. Military spouses get used to saying good-bye to friends made the last two years.

Other spouses worry about whether their child will be class president next year. Military spouses worry about whether their child will be accepted in yet another new school next year and whether that school will be the worst in the city...again.

Other spouses can count on spouse participation in special events, birthdays, anniversaries, concerts, football games, graduation, and even the birth of a child. Military spouses only count on each other; because they realize that the Flag has to come first if freedom is to survive. It has to be that way.

Other spouses put up yellow ribbons when the troops are imperiled across the globe and take them down when the troops come home. Military spouses wear yellow ribbons around their hearts and they never go away.

Other spouses worry about being late for Mom’s Thanksgiving dinner. Military spouses worry about getting back from Japan in time for Dad’s funeral. And other spouses are touched by the television program showing an elderly lady putting a card down in the front of a long, black wall that has names on it. The card simply says, "Happy Birthday, Sweetheart. You would have been sixty today." A military spouse is the lady with the card. The wall is the Vietnam Memorial.

I would never say military spouses are better or worse than other spouses are. But I will say there is a difference. And I will say that our country asks more of military spouses than asked of other spouses. And I will say without hesitation that military spouses pay just as high a price for freedom as do their active duty husbands or wives. Perhaps the price they pay is even higher.

Dying in service to our Country isn’t near as hard as loving someone who has died in service to our Country, and having to live without them.
God Bless our military spouses for all they freely give...
And God Bless America.

Marty wakes up at home with a huge hangover. He forces himself
to open his eyes, and the first thing he sees is a couple of
aspirins and a glass of water on the side table. He sits down
and sees his clothing in front of him, all clean and pressed.
Marty looks around the room and sees that it is in a perfect
order, spotless, clean. So's the rest of the house. He takes
the aspirins and notices a note on the table "Honey, breakfast
is on the stove, I left early to go shopping. Love you."

So he goes to the kitchen and sure enough there is a hot break-
fast and the morning newspaper. His son is also at the table,
eating.

Marty asks, "Son, what happened last night?"

His son says, "Well, you came home after 3 A.M., drunk and
delirious. Broke some furniture, puked in the hallway, and
gave yourself a black eye when you stumbled into the door."

Confused, Marty asks, "So, why is everything in order and so
clean, and breakfast is on the table waiting for me?"

His son replies, "Oh that! Mom dragged you to the bedroom, and
when she tried to take your pants off, you said, "Lady, leave
me alone, I'm married'!"

Hey!

We got back last night--it was a great trip, but exhausting!

Narda and I had dinner Tuesday night and it was wonderful! The dinner was great--but the company was fantastic! Narda is so easy to talk to and I was thrilled to finally meet her face-to-face! She picked a restaurant called the Crab Trap that was fabulous! In addition to the seafood, they also offered friend sweet potatoes that were like potato chips. We got them without the cinnamon/sugar and they were great. But the best part of the evening was sitting and visting together. I really enjoyed getting to know Narda better and I hope that we can get together again soon (my aunt was not in great shape, so I have a feeling I may need to make some additional trips down that way).

I see there are more than 100 posts on the board this week. I can't reply to everyone, but want to say welcome to the new folks! I look forward to getting to know you!

I haven't stepped on the scale since I've been home--but I'm not afraid. I was good while we were gone. I probably ate too much Tuesday night--but it was all SB legal. Other than that I did pretty well.

I better go. Mom and Dad are still here and we have some running around to do this afternoon!

hELLO eveybody!!! WEll today is a new day, a day to start eating good. Will think about going to Curves but still can't do any arm exercises..Boy I really yanked on my elbow last week, I can't believe an elbow could hurt so bad. I can't even pick up my coffee cup w/o it hurting. Glad I don't have a real physical job. It doesn't hurt at work and I am glad at that.

Soup came out real good and plan on eating it for a appetizer before my main protein item. That plus a nice vegie salad w/o the lettuce will make the meal perfect. Got to eat good, I am actually going out dancing/beer drinking tomorrow. I don't ever get to do that and since dh is gone, decided to go with the girls tomorrow night. We can't go out till we get off work at 11:00 and things here in Calif close at 2:00 so I don't have too much time to get in trouble.

Deb: the movies I have watched since dh has been gone are: Man and Boy; Bed of Roses (tears at the end for that one) Cirlcle of Friends; Ya Ya sisterhood. Really wanted to rent the Banger Sisters but I haven't found it at the video store I wanted to use. I am definetly going to get my dvd working and put in my quilt room. I really felt bad sitting in my recliner watching these movies when I should/could of been sewing or quilting..(made my dd 2 nurses smocks ..with the v neck thing..I am so proud of me) Only other thing interesting is my pionous parrent has a new sentence which she picked up on her own. She just started saying...Come on...Go outside...She says it to our dogs...It is so funny. The other things she says are .."Hi Emily what are you doing? Peak a boo. Wish the bird liked me...I don't do well with birds...I ignore them until it is too later and then they hate me.....(she liked me at one point, now she only likes dh...

Bye to you all

I wanted to share this with all of you...it proves that we MUST take EVERYTHING including weight loss ONE DAY AT A TIME. Please read this and see if you agree with me.

THE DAFFODIL PRINCIPLE
Several times my daughter had telephoned to say "Mother, you must come see the daffodils before they are over." I wanted to go, but it was a two hour drive from Laguna to Lake Arrowhead. "I'll come next Tuesday," I promised (a little reluctantly) on her third call.

Next Tuesday dawned cold and rainy. Still .... I had promised, and so I drove. When finally I walked into Carolyn's house and hugged and greeted my grandchildren, I said, " Forget the daffodils, Carolyn! The road is invisible in the clouds and fog and there's nothing in the world except you and these children that I want to see bad enough to drive another inch!"

My daughter smiled calmly and said, "We drive in this all the time, Mother."

"Well, you won't get me back on the road until it clears and then I'm heading for home" I assured her. "I was hoping you'd take me over to the garage to pick up my car." "How far is the drive?"

"Just a few blocks," Carolyn said. "I'll drive Mom. I'm used to this weather." After several minutes, I had to ask, "Where are we going? This isn't the way to the car garage!" "We're going to my garage the long way," Carolyn grinned, "by way of the daffodils."

"Carolyn," I said sternly, "please turn around." "It's all right, Mother, I promise. You'll never forgive yourself if you miss this experience."

After twenty minutes, we turned onto a narrow gravel road and I saw a small country church. On the far side of the church, I saw a hand lettered sign that read, "DAFFODIL GARDEN."

We got out of the car and each took a child's hand. I followed Carolyn down the path. Then we turned a corner and I looked up and gasped.

Right before me lay the most glorious sight! It looked as though someone had taken a great vat of of gold and poured it down over the mountain peak and slopes. The flowers were planted in majestic swirling patterns, great ribbons and swaths of deep orange ... white ... lemon yellow ... salmon pink ... saffron ... and butter yellow.

Each different colored variety was planted as a group so that it swirled and flowed like its own river with its own unique hue. Altogether, there were five acres of daffodils.

"But who has done this?" I asked Carolyn. "It's just one woman," Carolyn answered. "She lives on the property and that's home." Carolyn pointed to a well kept A-frame house that looked small and modest in the midst of all that glory. We walked up to the house.

On the patio we saw a large poster. It read "Answers to the Questions I Know You Are Asking." The first answer was a simple one. "50,000 bulbs," it read. The second answer was, "One at a time, by one woman. Two hands, two feet, and very little brain." The third answer was "Began in 1958."

There it was ..... THE DAFFODIL PRINCIPLE!

For me that moment was a life changing experience. I thought about this woman who I had never met. More than forty years ago she had begun (one bulb at a time) to bring her vision of beauty and joy to an obscure mountain top.

This unknown woman had forever changed the world in which she lived. She had created something of indescribable magnificence, beauty and inspiration.

The principle her Daffodil Garden taught is one of the greatest principles of celebration. That is: learning to move toward our goals and desires one step at a time -- often just one baby step at a time -- and learning to love the doing. When we multiply tiny pieces of time with small increments of daily effort, we too will find we can accomplish magnificent things. We can change the world!

"It makes me sad in a way," I admitted to Carolyn. "What might I have accomplished if I had thought of a wonderful goal thirty-five or forty years ago and had worked away at it 'one bulb at a time' through all those years. Just think what I might have been able to achieve."

My daughter summed up the message of the day in her usual direct way. "Start tomorrow," she said. It's so pointless to think of the lost hours of yesterday. The most desirable way to make learning 'a lesson of celebration' ... instead of a cause for regret is simply to ask, "How can I put this to use today?"

Just got this one....

There was a man who had worked all of his life and had saved all of his money and was a real miser. He loved money more than just about anything, and just before he died, he said to his wife, "Now listen. When I die, I want you to take all my money and put it in the casket with me. I want to take my money to the afterlife with me."

And so he got his wife to promise him with all of her heart that when he died, she would put all of the money in the casket with him.
Not long after she promised, he died. He was stretched out in the casket, his wife was sitting there in black, and her friend was sitting next to her. When they finished the ceremony, just before the undertakers got ready to close the casket, the wife said, "Wait just a minute!' She had a box with her, she came over with the box and put it in the casket. Then the undertakers locked the casket down, and they rolled it away.
Her friend, shocked, said, "I know you weren't fool enough to put all that money in there with your husband."

She said, "Listen, I'm a Christian, I can't go back on my word. I
promised him that I was gonna put that money in that casket with him."

"You mean to tell me you put that money in the casket with him!!!!?"

"I sure did," said the wife. "I wrote him a check".

Me! Who hates Bingo, went to Bingo this a.m.! There's a Senior Citizen complex here that holds Bingo once a month for outsiders. They serve you a nice breakfast, then play a few games with prizes. My friend has asked me three times to go, each time I have been laid up or something, and couldn't go. Actuallu we had a nice outing. They said there were 13 prizes and that's how many games they would play. Fortunately a couple of games had double winnners. Joyce picked me up at 8:30a and we were home by 10:45a. I was glad it wasn't too long as I was drained from yesterday. Didn't sleep well because I had leg cramps, I guess from being on my feet so much. Between making cornbread, picking up lasr minute supplies, getting there early to set up and staying to clean up, I was done in. So I spent today doing wash, crocheting a little, some typing for HFH, and trying to get on the Board.

DEB: I'm glad GD is doing some acting. She usually works as director, cinemetographer, or set designer, etc. The teacher told Ash that to be really able to direct she should know what it feels like to act.

AGAPE: If you like PB cookies...mix 1 c. PB, 1 egg, 1 c. Splenda. put small dabs on ungreased cookie sheet, bake about 15 min at 375'. Very good.

LIN: HFH is Habitat For Humanity (I'm Recording Secretary), NH is Nursing Home (I volunteer 2 mronings a week). When I sleep I sleep good, but have always been a night owl. If I don't sleep well it's usually because of pain or discomfort. I'd rather have a good shrimp than crawdad any day! Very un-Louisianian but I am a transplant from PA so I have my southern limits! Sucking heads doesn't sound good!

MIATA: A girl after my own heart. I seldom sit and watch TV without a project, puzzle or book in hand!

Take care, Shirley

An old farmer went to town to see a movie. The ticket agent asked, "Sir, what's that on your shoulder?"

The old farmer said, "That's my pet rooster Chucky. Wherever I go, Chucky goes."

"I'm sorry, sir," said the ticket agent. "We can't allow animals in the theater."

The old farmer went around the corner and stuffed the bird down his pants. He returned to the booth, bought a ticket and entered the theater. He sat down next to two old widows named Mildred and Marge.

The movie started and the rooster began to squirm. The old farmer unzipped his pants so Chucky could stick his head out and watch the movie.

"Marge," whispered Mildred.

"What?" said Marge.

"I think the guy next to me is a pervert."

"What makes you think so?" asked Marge.

"He unzipped his pants and he has his thing out," whispered Mildred.

"Well,! don't worry about it," said Marge. "At our age we've seen 'em all."

"That's what I thought, too," said Mildred, "but this one's eating my popcorn."

A couple, both 78, went to a sex therapist's office in Venice, Florida.

The doctor asked, "What can I do for you?"

The man said, Will you watch us have sexual intercourse?"

The doctor looked puzzled, but agreed. When the couple had finished, the doctor said, "There's nothing wrong with the way you have intercourse," and charged them $50.

This happened several weeks in a row. The couple would make an
appointment, have intercourse with no problems, pay the doctor, then leave.

Finally the doctor asked, "Just exactly what are you trying to find out?"

The old man said, "We're not trying to find out anything. She's married and we can't go to her house. I'm married and we can't go to my house. The Holiday Inn charges $90. The Hilton charges $140. We do it here for $50 and I get $43 back from Medicare.

Is Florida great or what!

Say It With Flowers

Two friends, a blonde and a redhead, are walking down the street and pass a flower shop where the redhead happens to see her boyfriend buying flowers.__ She sighs and says, "Oh, crap, my boyfriend is buying me flowers again!"

The blonde looks quizzically at her and says, "You don't like getting flowers?"

The redhead says, "I love getting flowers, but he always has expectations after giving me flowers, and I just don't feel like spending the next three days on my back with my legs up in the air."

The blonde says, "Don't you have a vase?

The good news is that I'm finally below 200- the bad news is that I probably won't be tomorrow:o ! I have eaten waayyy too many starchy carbs today. Also, I've only had 1 glass of water! Can you believe it?! I normally drink a minimum of one gallon a day. I'm at least going to get started on that. I've been feeling down in the dumps the past few days. I know I'm smaller in size and weight, but I still feel sooo fat:moo: It's like when I look at myself all I see is flab, fat etc. I guess I'm just feeling really unattractive right now. I need to stick with my exercising(instead of doing it in spurts) and start trying to do some target toning exercises. Anyone know a good site to get some ideas?

I am excited! My arrows came today. Now all I need is the target and I can start using my bow!

The day really got away from me. I am in such a brain fog, I am sure my thyroid levels are not right. I did go to the store and get groceries. Unfortunately I took my 16 year old with me, so the bill was probably double if I had gone alone! I am trying to eliminate all grains from my diet for a few weeks and see if that helps, so I got things to help achieve that goal.

I just gave my dear husband a silly present: two DVDs of old Popeye cartoons... he loved Popeye when he was a kid. Gotta go watch them with him!

HEART: See if your library has any of Joyce Vedral's books. They are on weight training for women. I love her fat burning workout book. It has a good easy to follow program with pictures. Hooray for you getting under 200! I hope you stay there!

Evening All:wave:

Sorry to have been AWAL since yesterday, had another busy day of running around yesterday with kids and today ditto with Lauren plus it's my garage sale day.

Got a few good items, was very happy with one in particular, an bookshelf type unit with 8 cubby-type boxes for MICHAEL'S room. Was hoping it would fit, small spot next to his bed, made it by one inch. Hoping he'll now keep his room a bit more tidy (yeah, right, wishful thinking) now that he has more space. Was in his room for a good 2 1/2 hours as well trying to clean up a bit more. Definitely making headway but definitely not finished yet.

I have to stay up til about 1:30am. LAUREN is at a Quince, which, for those of you who don't know, is a party for a Latin girl when she turns 15. It reminds me of a wedding - the groom. Dress is formal. Anyhow, it doesn't end til 12:30am and by the time they get home I know it will be close to 1:15am, go get her and then drive home. Luckily it's not far. I don't know if I will be able to hold out without napping on the couch though, I didn't sleep good at all last night and was up very early this morning.

Anyhow, want to get in some replies, try to catch up where I left off yesterday.

First, THANK YOU FOR ALL THE FRIDAY FUNNIES YOU SUBMITTED EVERYONE!!!

LIN, your pitiful veggies look like a feast of veggies compared to mine. Unfortunately, I think I probably take the crown on this weeks challenge on being the worst. The only "veggies" I've had is some mixed greens in a salad. I really need to work on this but just can't find the desire to make/eat them! Fidgety people tend to be slimmer they say, since they are always in motion and burning calories. "They" say anyone can burn extra calories with being fidgety, like when you are in your car, "dance" to some music! MICHAEL loves his friends and loves having them over. One girl who came over he really likes. Would you believe a girl named ETHEL in this day and age? And she's Columbian, not even American-not that that makes any difference to me, I just pointed it out because it's not only a very unusual name to have, it's definitely NOT a Latin name either. She's cute-tiny, petite, under 5feet, oh, and smart too! :D

FILLISE, first of all CONGRATS!!! That's so wonderful to see you posting such a great loss, and that's on top of being away from home and out of your element! It proves to us all that it can be done! That's so awesome!!!:D So glad you finally got to meet BOB! I really wish I could of joined the two of you. If you ever come down again and I can make it I will try, I would love to meet you as well. Did anyone have a camera and take pictures?

CHUBBY, hope you are doing well, let us know your progress, and how you are feeling. BTW (by the way), how'd you come about choosing your screen name? To answer your question I see you posted about the milk. I take it you drink Lactaid, or something similar? If so, I do as well, with the extra calcium. Not because I'm lactose intolerant (though ELI is), but because of the extra calcium, and I like the taste. Anyhow, it's fine to drink the milk you mentioned. What sugars you see are naturally occuring sugars. Same with plain yogurt. As long as the ingredients on the labels of the foods you buy have no sugar listed in there they are natural occuring and no need to worry. I like to make my own yogurt and buy Horizon or Cascade FF/LF yogurt and mix a little sweetener and a tbl or two of pureed fruit-delicious!

MIATA, hope your elbow is feeling better. Here's something to make you feel better...the Pres. of the board that I serve on at MICHAEL'S school, she decided to try her kids go-ped, fell off and BROKE her elbow! She's in an entire arm cast! I never thought of anyone breaking an elbow. Hope you got to watch your movies. The only one of those I heard of was the YAYA one. I wanted to see the Banger Sisters when it was in the theatre, so now will have to rent it. I watched INSOMNIA tonight - thought it was great! Got a few movies at garage sales today - one of my favorites was among them, THE FULL MONTY!!! Hope that bird turns the other beak (okay, I couldn't resist), it should know never to "bite the hand that feeds it" so to speak.;)

BOB, funny you should post that about the Daffodil Project. I saw it yesterday for the first time, started to read it and then had to close the window. Glad to have chatted with you for a few - some good finds today, esp. the new book I found, still scanning over it! You won't believe how the book collection has grown when you come down next time!

SEF, were you one of the lucky ones to yell BINGO???? Hope you sleep better tonight, I know the feeling of how it is when you have lack of sleep, not good, not good:nono: Cornbread - YUM!!!!

AGAPE, so, how do you make this vegetable??? Doesn't sound so appealing to me, then again, no veggies really do, well, beyond eggplant that is. The pot pie is from a company called SHELTONS. It's a white box and it says WHOLE WHEAT FLOUR on the front. They are absolutely delicious. Don't buy the ones that say organic, that's not what you want. I prefer the chicken over the turkey, but that's just me.Hope you can find them! OMG, I'm so jealous that you live so close to TJ'S! I love that store. You should see my suitcase coming home from anywhere I go that there's a TJ'S in the city. I can tell you where all 3 in Las Vegas are! Been to ones in California and Maryland as well. Wish we had one! They have lots of great SB LEGAL foods!

HEART, glad to see you posting you're below the 200 mark. That alone should keep you on track, but we all know how hard it sometimes. I think a lot of it must come from stress and worring about BOOGIE. How's the little booger doing? You'll do fine. I don't know of a particular site for target training, but I'm sure someone on the board will know.

MONET, I had to laugh when you mentioned you needed a target. I have to admit, TOM, ELI, men in general came to mind for a split second there. Figured, they best be careful, esp. with women who can shoot! Can you imagine having targets with men's pics on them instead of colored circles! They better behave and treat us good or else...Not that that they've done anything wrong I'm sure, I just thought, for a nano-second...oh well!  (at least I hope you think it's funny) ELI'S lucky I don't have any arrows, though I do have a bow!!!!:chin: LOL!!

SHEANNE, glad to see you checking in. Just a little post means a lot, and that you are thinking of us!!!

Well, it's almost midnight. I haven't seen hide nor hair of ELI for about an hour, so I think he's probably hit the hay already. Poor guy was falling asleep on the couch earlier. Was up for about 20 hours. He's off tomorrow. Told him to go to church and then we'd do something. He has to go to work about 6pm for inventory, so not sure if he'll go to church or not, as it will cut in to the rest of the day together. He has a hectic week next week, so I think he wants to take advantage of the day together, or at least I hope:)

Will check in in the morning sometime.

NITE!!!

I woke early today, and I was starving right off the bat. I'm not sure if that means I ate a lot or too little yesterday. Yesterday, I drove Steven over a 100 miles for a lacrosse game. We lost but he did very well--scored 5 goals in spite of being double teamed the whole game. I'm glad we will have home games for the next couple of weeks. I had a new salad at McDonalds while on the road--the California Cobb. It comes with a warn grilled chicken breast and Paul Newman dressing. It was actually quite good. Not sure of the numbers on it though. DH is home from New Orleans and ds is leaving today to go back to college. I'm always sad when I have to say goodbye. He has to fly through Washington which makes me nervous with all the terrorist threats out there. I just put 1/2 a peanut butter pie down the garbage disposal. It kept calling my name--I had served it to my inlaws Friday night but it is history now.

Is there someplace on the board that explains how to create your own avatar?

Friday's veggie consumption--big salad, 1 c. of cauliflower. That is awful--This challenge makes me realize I need to start eating more veggies.

Shirley-Thanks for explaining the abbreviations. I have so much respect for HFH. There is an active chapter here for which I thought about volunteering. Has your experience with them been positive?

Miata--How was the dancing? Your parrot sounds like a character!! Did you take sewing lessons? I have a machine and would love to learn how to use it.

BOB-Love the new avatar. And The Daffodil Principle. If I only I could decide what I could do that would be worthwhile I would start!

Fillise-Congrats on the 10+ pounds lost. That is great.

Heart-Sorry you are feeling down. I know this happens to all of us--I hope you are feeling better today. I think the war is making me feel bad all the time-I am so worried about our troops over there, and I'm not sleeping well. Did you get your water in? I forget-have you tried lifting weights? Lifting will remove turn fat to muscle all over your body. How is boogie feeling?

Deb-Never heard of a quince. Sounds like it could be lots of fun. I agree Ethel is a strange name--does she like Michael as much as he likes her? Your dh works such long hours. No wonder he was asleep.

Monet-Do you have a target? I hope you enjoy your arrows.

Just a quick check in. This is the second week with no weight loss--no one to blame but myself. Why is it so hard to face what's ahead instead of celebrating how far we've come? My motivation has hit a big wall. My follow thru needs some real tweaking. In my bummed out state I've realized that this diet is mirroring my life--very low on the follow through. I always get off to a good start and then peter out before I'm completely done. I was determined to be OP yesterday--that lasted till noon. Any ideas on dusting myself off and getting back on the wagon? The only other time I've been on a diet I lost 15 pounds in two months--same as this time--the big difference was that then I only needed to lose 15--this time I need to lose another 40. I'm sure I'll be able to readjust my thinking pretty soon,I always do, but I thought there might be some real help here on the boards because there are lots of you that have lost big numbers and probably have went through this before.

Sunday Morning----

Hello Everyone!!!

Boy, have I been a bad, bad board member this week. So sorry for being so AWOL this week. I try to get on the board, but something always pulls me away.

My eating as been okay this week. I'm having success resisting the chocolates and the cookies and all that stuff. So I can be thankful for that. I still think somedays I just eat too darn much. So I'm going to have to get on top of that a little better. All that being said, it still feels like my focus is on that target and I still feel motivated and "in charge" 97% of the time. The other 3% of the time I'm having this mental battle about wanting to binge on something and there's this huge debate and doing it/not doing it. Thankfully, I've been pretty lucky with the results in that area.

Okay, I've got tons to do today before the work week hits. Altrusa is having a fashion show this coming weekend and I promised to make up some stuff for the silent auction/raffle. I hae two really pretty decorative throws and two baskets of books (one is for kids and one is filled with paperbacks). So I need to get those put together. Trouble is I don't have baskets big enough. Uh-oh . . . that sounds like a trip to Dollar General is needed today. I LOVE that store!

Take care everyone!

LINWORTHY- No, I've never lifted weights before. I don't want to get bulky- just tone and get rid of some flab- tighten up a bit. Maybe just toning and target exercises?

Boogie is doing just fine. Being very typical for his age. He threw one helluva temper trantrum yesterday. If you cut his butt(southern slang for spank) then he gets even madder- talk about a temper. Funny how Robby has never seen him act that way. Well, I ended up getting in 3/4 gallon water last night and I think I'm retaining all of it! I'm puffy and the darn scale says 200 today. I figured it would catch up with me. I was absolutely ravenous when I woke up and I've already consumed scrambled eggs with cheese, bacon, AND a piece of bread with some cajun turkey. Not a good start considering it's only after 9!! Well, maybe the protein will kick in and help me throughout the rest of the day with carb and sugar cravings.

Hello all you wonderful people! This is gonna be short, well most of mine are short anyways, but I have sick kids and hubby here to deal with so it's gonna be real short. Just wanted to check in and let everyone know that I'm still here.

Deb, I didn't get the thing you sent me until after I had ordered the book, but that's o.k. because I was/am determined to do whatever it takes to get this weight off and see the smaller me. I'm hoping that it will be in sometime this week so I can get started on it.

Lin, Yes, my hubby is here with me now, and hopefully with everyone being stretched to the limits at the base he'll stay here. We need protection at the bases here at home too, and that's pretty much what he does.

Agape, You are very welcome! I'm just glad to be a part of a wonderful group of ladies that are more than willing to help others out in their struggles, you don't find that a whole lot unless you have really really good close friends around. Every one of you are just great, and I'm so glad that I found this board!!!

Ok, that's it for me, gotta check on my sick ones here. Well I guess it wasn't really all that short after all. Everyone have a wonderful day!!!

Winter's trying to come back!:yikes: Supposed to be hovering near the freezing mark for the next couple of days. BLAH!

Well, it's confession time. I was a really bad girl yesterday and indulged in 2 chocolate cupcakes. I felt crappy afterward. But that's it, over and done, back to the good eating.

I must say that I am quite proud of myself:D I've done exercise 5 out of 6 days this week, so far (6 out of 6 if you count carrying a box of oranges and hauling groceries in a backpack) and I'm planning on doing some kind of exercise today. I found yesterday that I worked harder and didn't even notice. I put on a CD with a good beat and just kept riding the elliptical.

I'm getting a lot of knitting done! So that means I'm doing a LOT LESS eating in front of the TV.

QUILTER--you are right! I'm gonna have some really nice things. I'm working on a summer top right now. Next will be a spring sweater or two for DS. Then I hope to finish up the afghan I started about 20 years ago!

HEARTMOM--Congrats on getting to below 200. Very soon you will stay under that mark! Women don't bulk up like men when they do weights (unless they're taking steroids ). Muscle will actually burn more fat at rest than fat burns. You can do all the crunches you want and have rock hard ab muscles, but you still have to lose the fat over top of the muscles or else you still look flabby. A combo of cardio and weights will help reduce all over. You only have to do weights 2-3 times a week. If you don't have weights, you can use things like tins of food. Right now I'm doing lunges and squats for my legs/butt and I'm not using any extra weights yet to do them. And don't you already do the Walk Away the Pounds tapes? That could be your cardio (plus you get some upper body toning with those tapes already). I agree that Joyce Vedral has several good books. Easy to understand and follow. They're also good to look at for inspiration--to see her before and after pics.
Here's a few sites that look like they have "spot" exercises:www.self.com/workouts/
www.fitnessmagazine.com/fitness_and_health/index.jsp
www.muscleandfitnesshers.com/hers.html
I'm not an expert, but if you want, you can email or PM me and I'll try to help you out more specifically

Gotta get going. Have a good day everyone!

Morning all!

I'm at church and have just a minute to take a breather before I have to make rounds and get ready for worship.

I got on the scale this am thinking I would be up a bit (felt puffy), but it was down another lb. That makes 11.5 gone since lent began (3.5 weeks).

Tomorrow I'm putting the pedometer back on. I lost mine somewhere last Sunday (sheesh), got a new one in St. Pete (and a strap to hook it to a belt loop!) and will put it by my bedside so it will be ready to go in the AM.

BOB--Not a good weeked for either the SEC or the ACC. HOWEVER did anyone notice that Auburn won both the men's and women's NCAA Swimming and Diving Championships! WAR EAGLE!

Deb--I guess I will be the one to break the bad news. Narda and I both forgot cameras--so no pictures. But let me assure you, we were the hottest babes in the joint! It would be great if you could get over the next time I'm down that way!

OK--back to work. I'll check in tomorrow and try to get back in the swing with personal replies on the new board next week!

Oh yes--I did get some agave in St. Pete. It was expensive, but I got enough to hold me over until I get up to Atlanta.

Hi out there,
Today has been a very busy day. Had family over and decided to cook at the last minute. Turned out great tho. Had a house full. Just wanted to pop in and say hi.

BigOrangeBabe ~~ the dawn did move the stain some, but I can still see a trace of it. I am afraid the OXYCLEAN will lighten the fabric. It is a red top. What do you think. I have some OXY. I love your story about the daffodil, too. I sent it to my brother.

Debbie ~~ I love spinach and learned that how to make Korean spinach, so that what I did to the broccoli rabe. 2 boxes of spinach, 2 tbs sesame-seed oil, 1 tsp pepper-seed or red pepper, and a bunch of green onions, oh,and salt to taste. I put it in a pot and let it rip. It is really good to me. I use sesame-seed oil in a lot of veggies. Try it you might like it. If you don't like the taste of that oil, then it has to be a little butter and salt to taste. Sometime I chop up boiled eggs in my spinach.

Well I gotta go now, it's getting late. See yall tomorrow.

P.S. Linworthlady~~ To answer your question of did I loose weight on Atkins. Yes, I did about 55 lbs, however, I gained some of it back. I hit a plateau and got discouraged and besides that, I was coming up to the holidays. My doctor told me about SB in Oct of last year. I wanted to do Atkins because I am a meat eater. I didn't get SB until almost the end of January. Here I am, glad to be here and ain't leaving. Love this WOE.

HiedieHo All!!

Not an exciting day yesterday or today. Vacuumed and dusted, crocheted. My DD called, said she could not remember the last day she worked as it's been so long. Apparently people have stopped having babies in her area and as a result the agency is not getting calls. She just bought a new house in December, as well as new furniture for it. I pray that this dry spell for her doesn't last long.

You should have seen my GD yesterday. She was GORGEOUS!!!!!! She said there were people at the prom that were shocked when they saw her. One boy said they had taken a vote ans she was the hottest gottie there. She looked like she stepped out of a fashion shoot. Four couples went together, they had a limo, and they went to the French Quarter first for dinner, then tp the prom, after they all went to one of their houses and spent the rest of the night. She had a ball and was full of antidotes to regale us. It was wonderful just listening to her. I guess I'm just a doting GM!

Today I was late to church. I had a miserable night and didn't fall to sleep until after four. I woke up at 7a and said just another 20-30 minutes. At 9:15a I woke up and flew to get ready. I really wanted to be there as one friend's GD was being baptized and another friend was joing our church by transfer. I got there just as they minister was welcoming people to the service.

The rest of the day was spent listening to GD, reading paper, crocheting a little and writing a letter.

Friday we hit 80' and the AC was running, yesterday and today the heat popped on!

FILLISE: I never heard those "Prince" definitions before! Cute! One time at a dinner show, where I knew all the performers and most of the customers, the emcee was doing his bit and asked about how long people were married. Wasn't it wonderful that women married their knoghts in shining armor. Without thinking I said aloud......yeah, then the suit rusted! It got the biggest laugh so far that evening and I was mortified. Don't ask me why that came to mind when I read the Princes. I wander, my age you know!

AGAPE: PB is peanut butter. No, the cornbread is not legal, but it goes good with southern food and we wanted to give those Michigan college kids a taste treat. I did cheat and have a small taste myself. My fav chicken recipe is for Mexican Chicken. In a baking dish, put 6 bnls, sknls chicken breast, spread 1-2 c. salsa (Pace is SF, use the hot, mild whatever suits you, top w/ two cans of drained seasoned black beans or kidney beans. Cover dish w/ foil, bake at 400' about 30 min. Lift foil and sprinkle w/ 1/2 - 1 c. grated cheddar cheese (or whatever I have on hand), replace foil and let sit for a few minutes, the heat from the chicken melts the cheese. Serve w/ brown rice. Sometimes I throw in an extra can of beans and skip the rice as we like beans. There are any kind of variation you can use to suit your taste. I always make 6 so we have some leftover as I usually eat leftovers for lunch. About the Oxyclean, I'd gp for it, you can't wear the top as is so what do have to lose? I used the Clorox Oxygen Clean, full strength on a couple of tops where the stain had been set by the dryer and was old (I figured I could wear them around the house for dirty jobs), the color stayed and the stain came out. I just wet the stain poured some of the powder on and let it set. Like new tops now. I love hard boiled eggs chopped in my spinach w/ some crumbled bacon, my DIL likes it w/ chopped onion.

LIN: I think HFH is wonderful. I've met some nice people. It is great to see the new homeowners help the next ones. The college kids that do the Collegiate Challenge you don't read about in the papers, you only read about the kids who spend their spring break in Ft. Lauredale! Locally it will probably be on page 6. By all means volunteer. I can't do the physical stuff in the building line, so I do the secretary job, and help out in ways that I can.

QUILT: I love dollar stores!

Well, think I will crochet one more row. Seems like most of this post is to Agape. Remember our servicemen and women.

Take care, Shirley
