Debelli 02-26-2001, 06:19 PM Good Monday Morning Everyone! :D
Just a quick post before I get Michael to school in a little bit. I'll be back on later for a regular post.
TODAY IS MOTIVATIONAL MONDAY and here is my contribution:
SCRUTINY
What if everyone knew your secrets? Would that change the way you live your life, the way you conduct business, the way you act when no one is looking? You may not live and work under the close scrutiny of others, yet it pays to act as though you do.
Scrutiny imposes discipline. If we're certain that no one will ever know, we're more likely to take shortcuts. Yet when we know that others are watching, we're more scrupulous about everything. That is almost always a good thing.
Though the world is not always watching you, the fact is that every action you take has consequences, whether you act publicly or in secret. If what you do today could not stand up to the scrutiny of others, then someday it will catch up with you.
Live as though the world is watching, and reap the many rewards that discipline and integrity will bring.
-- Ralph Marston
I hope you all have a wonderful week-I'll catch you all a little later!!!!

Rosalie 02-26-2001, 06:27 PM Good Monday morning everyone :) :)
Lots of you will not know me as I have not been on the board for quite a while. My dh was in the hospital for about five weeks and passed away on 14th February after a long battle with a brain tumor. Things are just beginning to get back to normal although of course I still have a lot of things to sort out.
I’d not been sticking to SB entirely during this time – too much eating on the run and hospital food but hope to be able to get back on track again. I also need to start exercising again. I’ve got a new tape – Susan Sansone’s 2 Mile Walk and am anxious to get started on it. I’ve been on SB for a little over a year and have lost a total of 29 lbs although I have been losing very, very slowly for the last several months. I’m hoping things will start moving again soon. At least I have managed not to gain during this stressful time. I guess I’m the expert at maintaining!
It’s good to see all the newbies on the board. Even though I haven’t posted lately I have been lurking occasionally and reading some of the posts. Sounds like lots of you are doing really well.
I hope all you gals who have been ill are now feeling better.
Susy, sorry to hear about your loss but glad to hear you are beginning to feel better. I’m sure Christopher will do well with his surgery.
I made some great salmon patties the other day which were really yummy. The recipe called for mashed potato but I substituted sweet potato to make it SB legal. I will post the recipe as soon as I get it typed up.
Karen3000, that was an interesting article on refined carbs. I know there have been other studies done on the effects of high insulin levels (which of course occurs with high glycemic food intake) in relation to weight gain and heart conditions but there are many who still insist that low fat/high carb is the only way to go even though it has been proven that it doesn’t work for weight loss in the long term.
Overcome, I agree with others about the oatmeal. I know instant oatmeal is mentioned in SB in their meal plans but the regular oatmeal is much better as it is less refined. I use regular oatmeal and cook it in the microwave for a couple of minutes and it works out just fine. Regarding the berries I believe they are considered O.K. to eat with meals as they contain a lot of fibre. This is mentioned in Montignac’s book but I’ve loaned my book to a friend so can’t check exactly what he says.
BigO, I checked out that book about HIGH VOLTAGE on B&N and it sounds like one of the things she talks about is the emotions of eating. May be an interesting book to read. You really got yourself a bargain. Let’s know what you think about it. I’d also be intersted in some vegetarian recipes if you find some good ones in the new book. I’m not vegetarian but do get tired of eating meat sometimes and like to try different things.
Sasham, I wish you luck with your move and hope it doesn’t take you too long to get things straightened out. I’m sure you will have your computer up and running ASAP. I’m typing this at 3.30 am in a room that is in the middle of being decorated. No curtains on the windows but I am hidden behind some furniture. I went to bed very early last night as I was feeling yucky so now I am wide awake. Will try to get a little more shut-eye soon before going to work at 6.30 am.
Cheri45, congratulations on your new granddaughter. It’s so good to hear that the three year old is loving his hew sister. Mom has obviously done a good job preparing him for her arrival.
GatorGal, you make me wish I was in a warmer climate with your description of your grapefruit tree. I’ve certainly never heard of leaves falling in the spring.
Joy, beans and lentils are good low fat/high protein foods. I sometimes use canned lentils (when I’m feeling lazy or pushed for time). I like to fry up some veggies, say onions, zucchini, green/red peppers, celery, tomatoes and some grated squash – any combination of veggies that you like – add some seasoning – I often use parsley and basil and a squirt of lemon juice - and stuff it into a pita bread with a little grated cheese on top. Yummy.
Well, that’s enough rambling for now. Hope you all have a good SUGAR BUSTING week.
Marie :) :)

cmd4joy 02-26-2001, 08:36 PM Good morning!
Rosalie.... I am so sorry for your loss.
Thanks for all the advice on protein. Rhoo.... sorry to say this to you but... YUCK ON EGG WHITES PLAIN!!!! (was that subtle, I hope..... :insane :)
Ashley.... 65 invitations??? Whooo.... that girl should get everything she needs and more. I got a couple things stamped yesterday, but have 15 to do for a swap on Monday at stamp club. I have an idea, so at least the hard part is done..... if my idea looks okay.
I have a doctor appointment today. I took my own stitches out yesterday because he had tape over the stitches, then a stitch over the tape, and the tape was nasty so I just took everything out. It's fine, though it still hurts and the lump looks just as big. I will see what he says about that.
Off to find something for breakfast, and pack my lunch.....
Oh but first.... I've tallied up the weight loss and posted it on the boards (the past week's, and the 2001 board). We're averaging approximately 100 pounds a month lost. That is AWESOME!!! Keep it up you losers!!!

THE ONLY WAY TO FAIL IS TO STOP TRYING TO SUCCEED
Hey Everyone...
Just wanted to check in after being away for the weekend...
But not feeling very chatty. We haven't seen the inlaws in 3.5 years and then lo and behold, we see them and then DH and I start having issues (again) http://www.3fatchicks.com/ubb//crying.gif
So I am feeling really low today.
Reading the posts made me feel better :)
On the diet side, I seem to be a bit up again today BUT I stayed totally OP all weekend altho I think I went a bit heavy on the fatty proteins (sausages, cheese, etc). No sweets, tho. Yest I had a pumpernickel bagel - 1/2 at lunch, 1/2 at bkfst....and for dinner I had some WW macaroni with the mix from Annie's mac n cheese on it...so maybe a bit heavy on the carbs yesterday. Bottom line - a stressful weekend away but I stayed in the limits. Hopefully the weight will come back off soon.
So...have a nice day everyone. I'll be lurking....

MsLiz1956 02-26-2001, 09:21 PM Hi All!
Sorry I've been AWOL, but injured myself & was rather laid up. Nothing serious, just age setting in! Sometimes I forget that my body isn't 20 any more!
ROSALIE - Welcome back; so sorry to hear about your husband. Give yourself plenty of time to be "raw."
EVERYBODY - 100 pounds a month!?!? Wow - hope I can contribute to that whopping figure!
I spent the weekend working at my stepdaughter's house (remodeling) - despite being injured. Okay, so I'm one of THOSE people who just can't stop... Anyway, I didn't plan properly Saturday & was confronted with the reality of non-SB eating. I had to decide if I was going to eat junk or not eat at all....some choice, eh? I "feasted" on sandwiches made with white bread, potato salad, and pizza. Sunday, I kept nearly passing out. Must have been my blood sugar levels...that yucky dizziness when you move too quickly... It served as a vivid reminder of why I chose to adopt this WOE. Back on track for sure, and next time I'm taking food with me!!!
MOTIVATIONAL MONDAY
Okay, vain as it is, here's my motivation for the week. Last weekend I got into that Little Black Dress for the first time in a LONG time! Yippee!!! If I knew how to download it, I'd share the picture. Stick with this - it works! :D

I've GOT TO GET TO WORK....I'll click more later
cheri45 02-26-2001, 10:41 PM Hi!
I am so excited I just had to quickly post that We have a new Trader Joe's here in Indianapolis. I am going down to see just what it's all about.
Later,

Debelli 02-27-2001, 12:24 AM Good Monday Again All! :D
Finally got home, was out longer than I expected this morning. NOW, I finally have a few quiet minutes to respond to everyone.
Dinner at Mom's was good yesterday, but I definitely overate. Her friend Jeanette has been staying with her and my Dad for over a month (she's from Rochester), and she's Italian and loves to cook (my Father will cry as her plane leaves this week). Whenever she comes down she make a big dinner-like for a flippin Army! Anyhow, she made this simple zuchinni dish I love and I had that and some salad and roast pork that fell off the fork. Well, my Mother comes out with Breyers Vanilla IC and I had her give me about 1/2 a cup-well, mind you, I haven't had real ice cream in over 11 months, so I became a really hot topic when I started eating this (actually, it seemed I was trying to beat the clock, that stuff melts VERY fast), I KNEW I shouldn't eat it, I was full-but I pushed myself well knowing that - well, lets just say, I don't think I will count myself as having any-straight down the drain it went!!! I knew it would happen, that's why I had some and knew I would shock the masses!!!
Anyhow, I'm really hoping that another reason I got sick is that my TOM will be coming-I'm over a week late, which is really not like me at all. Trust me, I'm not prego, but I haven't found if when you are sick, it does a number on your system in that way-hopefully, it's that. I am up 3lbs on the scale - this stinks. I know it's temporary, but why does this always seem to happen when I reached my goal for the end of the month and then it goes up and screws my whole plan up!?! Oh well, patience Debbie, patience!!!
Next question - DOES ANYONE ON THE BOARD KNIT??? I bought a sweater at a garage sale and it's too big. I wanted to know if it can be made smaller easily-any ideas???
THINAGIN, glad you are doing better. There's a store like you went to down here that has neat stuff like that-I bought these little cards and they have great little motivational sentences on them-I like stores like that! When is Christopher having the surgery?? We'll say a prayer for him! Yeah, yeah, just rub that you can go to TJ's in my open wounds!!! I like Cost Plus too, (not anywhere near TJ's though) they too have some SB legal chocolate there. Glad to hear you got a new scale, did you get a digital or regular?? Did you get non-stick or regular cookware. I need to get some new stuff, but swear this time, I am getting regular, no more non-stick. I may get one small pan for omelets, but other than that, it's going to be regular-that non-stick doesn't do too well for me-Eli has a way of burning the coating off my cookware!
QUILTER, OMG, I can't believe what happened to the rice! And the cooker! That sounds just like something I would do!! Happy to hear you liked Outback, I love their salmon as well, always with a plain sweet potato! They have delicious sweet potatos at Marco Island! Wish we could have the maple butter with it, but alone, it's just as delicious! I love the salad bar there, best blue cheese I've ever had!!! Unless we get some unexpected cold weather, bring summer clothes, it's been HOT! Is John Edward's show on cable?? I like him too, though I really like George Anderson, ever read his books??
BIGO, gosh, I didn't realize I had hit the Temple circuit twice in 1 week - egads, what will they think! I know they carry the Cabot cheese at Publix, but the 75% reduced fat, I can get it for $4.59 a pound, so keep that in mind, as I know they charge something like $2.29 for the 6oz pkg of this cheese at Publix. That lady's book called HIGH VOLTAGE, haven't heard a thing about it-let me know what you think about it. Wonder if they have it at the library, what's her name?? The other book sounds good too, let me know what you make from it!!! Do you think you are lactose intolerant with the bloating from dairy-oooweee, you don't want to get near Eli if he's had any dairy without taking Lactaid!
BEACH, glad to hear you are doing somewhat better. Seems what we both got is going to linger for a while. We desperately need rain down here-the fires are starting to pop up all over when it gets like this. Now they say that soon, our water pressure will lessen-not a RC emergency, but I hate to see what may happen if we don't get some rain, and soon!!!
JOY, sounds like you've been doing a lot of experimenting in the kitchen lately. Will check out that new recipe you posted. I'm in the mood to make some cookies, lets see just how inspired I get! Protein, try eating more cottage cheese, more beans, eggs, tuna, milk, nuts, stuff like that. Let us know how the Dr went today!
RHROO, I hope you, Viv and Sas can meet one day. What better place to meet than a Trader Joes!!
CHERI, the pictures of the kids are adorable. I will try and get those loaded for you today-I'll be in touch. Yep, it was me who had the tummy tuck-better than the fat apron I had hanging. One thing, the Dr. said not to gain weight, I did, and it stretched my skin out-I would recommend it highly, but I would say, wait until you have been at your goal weight for a while, it's how I should of done it. Did you get to TJ's???? Lucky you!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I'm soooo jealous!!!!!!
GATOR, sounds like the blossoms around your area are smelling good, down here, all I smell are the stinky mango blossoms-yuck!
OVERCOME, make sure you buy the ROLLED OATS, they are the best to have.
ROSALIE, I'm glad to see you back on the board but oh so sorry to hear about the passing of your husband. My sympathies to you and your family. Like BIGO said, sorry we can be there, but we can be here for you!!!! I'm glad to see you are still with us, despite all the trying times you've been going through, you never cease to amaze me! You will definitely have to post that salmon recipe, I'm sure it was delicious.
VIV, sorry to hear the weekend didn't go smoothley, but it's over now, and hopefully, blue skies ahead! Trust me, you weren't the only one binging on carbs this weekend-I'm up big time!!!
MSLIZ, send that picture this way, I'll help you get it loaded! Glad to hear you are back on track-sounds like a horrible weekend food wise and with the effects it had on you!!
Well gals, I'm going to see what I can find to eat for lunch, I'm starving and getting a lovely headache! I'll check in with you all later this evening!

Debelli 02-27-2001, 01:23 AM Was just skimming the web and found this interesting bread baking book that may be of interest for those of you who have bread machines. I don't know a thing about the book, but it says they use whole grains and no refined sugars!
http://www.urbanhomemaker.com/items/books/breadbaking/030.htm
Annette2 02-27-2001, 02:13 AM I just wrote up a huge posting and then got kicked off the internet, shucks! Oh well, here goes again. I finally got a diagnosis on my illness - it is just severe bronchitis - probably all the smoke in the air here from the fires. The bad news is the doctor says it will last at least 3 more weeks. Yuck.
Deb: I can't believe it, you are human, I was starting to thing that you were superwoman-tee hee. I am sure those pounds are just water weight for your late TOM. I think I may get one of those bread machines. Anyone know which one is a good one?
Rosalie: I am so sorry to hear about your husband. I am new to the board, but am a therapist if you need to talk.
Viv: I am sorry to hear about your weekend. Visiting In-laws can be sooo hard. Just remember how special and important you are and forget about them!
Susy: I will pray for Christopher's operation. You sure are under the stress lately! Make sure you find time for yourself! You need it right now.
Overcome: I tried to look at your bio wedding picture, but it wouldn't let me get to it. I am a newlywed too, about a week before you - September 23.
Quilter - Hi! How is it going?
Orange: How is Tenn doing in Basketball? My team, Penn State, lost to my husband's team, Michigan State, Saturday night, so I have been taking some ribbing. How's that for a run on sentence!!!
Well, I need to go lay back down for a while.
I'm not sure this is ok for Motivational Monday, but helps me today!
THIS TOO SHALL PASS!!

skinnyme 02-27-2001, 02:25 AM Hello everyone. Most of you probably don't know or don't remember me because I've only been on once since December. I was doing very well on my SB diet until I hurt my knee and had to have surgery just before Christmas. Well, between the physical slowdown and boredom, I gained back up to just over 200 lbs during that time. The surgery went great and I'm almost back at 100% so I started on the diet again. Two weeks ago I was back down to 192 and was sooo proud. Well, on February 18th I found out that I've got to give up all weight loss programs and strenuous exercise. At least until October 28th when our little addition will arrive! http://www.3fatchicks.com/ubb//lol.gif Anybody have any suggestions on how I might alter the SB lifestyle to stay healthy and give my little angel a boost before she/he arrives? I gained 75 lbs with my last baby and I definately don't want to do that again.
Rosalie: I'm so sorry to hear about your loss.
Hope to be online a little more often in the future. Everybody take care.
Donna
Debelli 02-27-2001, 02:34 AM Me again-thought I'd pop on and see what was going on!
ANNETTE, sorry I missed you on the I/M, I was lounging on the couch, trying not to fall asleep-this being sick is for the birds! Hope it isn't 2 more weeks for you, or me!!!
SKINNY, CONGRATULATIONS DONNA! So Duncan is going to be a big brother! I'm surprised that your Dr. told you to stop this WOE and exercising. Being that SB is a well rounded WOE, I don't see WHY you'd have to give it up, or even modify it-does he understand about SB? And no exercise?? I can't understand that either, unless you physcially can't because of your surgery. I hope all goes well with your pregnancy-good luck~
Okay, I'm outta hear again!!!! http://www.3fatchicks.com/ubb//spinning.gif

ebabe1955 02-27-2001, 03:32 AM Hi everyone, just checking in. Here is a little something I found for MM:
Keep in mind the 21-day rule. If you stick with something for 21 days, it will become a habit. Keep a journal for the 21 days or mark it off on a calendar. Before you know it, your healthy habits will be your lifestyle.
Rosalie: So sorry to hear about your husband. Please take good care of yourself!
Viv: I know all about in-laws, my ex-in-laws were the pits. God blessed me six years ago with a wonderful husband who has wonderful parents! E-mail me if you need to talk.
Everybody have a great week! Debi
karen3000 02-27-2001, 06:12 AM Happy Monday
Here's a Tuesday Tip early (so I don't forget to post it).
A daily dose of magnesium may help beat the bloating that accompanies premenstrual syndrome.
In a recent study, women who took 200 milligrams of magnesium daily had fewer problems with fluid retention than women who consumed less magnesium. They also experienced less weight gain, breast tenderness, and abdominal swelling
I know this is a boondoggle for women dieters, so maybe this tip will help all of us who have this problem.

Hi Everyone! Gee, but I've missed all of you! Have not been feeling well at all, having horrible headaches, had a virus,& have just not felt up to even checking my email. Trying to get back in the swing of things, but work has to take priority no matter what it seems. Anyway, I have not been able to catch up with reading. Just wanted to say hello & let you'll know I'm still hanging in. Weight is maintaining, but not lossing.
Rosalie, sooooooo sorry to hear of your loss. I can relate, as I lost my first husband almost 18 years ago. There are days even now that I still miss him, but time, the love & support of family & friends, as well as my faith in the Lord are all things that have helped bring me through. I pray that will be the case for you also. Glad to see you back on board.
Check in with you'll later.

Rosalie 02-27-2001, 06:25 AM Good evening everyone :)
Annette, thanks for your offer to talk. I am doing O.K. Luckily I have family around me. I have an adult son living with me and two married kids and their families close by. We've been together a lot the last couple of weeks. It really helps us all. I've also started back at work. That is good therapy - every one there is very supportive. If I do find I need someone to talk to I will certainly get in touch with you.
Overcome, you mentioned on the post with the apple pie recipe about fruit being eaten alone. I don't hink you have to worry about this when the fruit is cooked. My understanding is that the fruit rule only applies to raw fruit. I don't think this is mentioned in SB but I believe it was mentioned in M. Montignac's book.
Skinnyme, Congratulations on your pregnancy. I agree with Debbie, I really can't see why you cannot continue on this woe during this time as it is such a healthy woe. Perhaps you could ask your doctor if he knows anything about SB. Maybe he is not familiar with it.
I've had a good SB day to-day. Yesterday wasn't so good, as I was into some junk food. I have been feeling a little nauseous a few times during the last couple of weeks. I was trying to figure out what it could be. Now I am wondering if it was because I've been eating too much illegal stuff. To-day I've stuck to legal stuff and I feel fine.
All for now. Will check in again later.

thinagin 02-27-2001, 06:53 AM Hey all!
Haven't had a chance to read last week's posts. I keep having trouble with the pages loading all the way. So when I got in this time, I'm going to take full advantage of it.
Rosalie - You are in my thoughts. I'll light candles for you, dear.
Skinny - congrats on the baby. I am with the others about being skeptical about stopping SB and exercising. SB will help you keep your blood sugar down and maybe you can avoid gestational diabetes that way. (I had GB with both of my boys. It sucks, belive me. Insulin and everything.) And exercise is what will help your blood pressure stay in line. Unless you develop pregnancy-induced hypertension (yes, I had *that* too!). If you have to stop both SB and exercise, may I suggest you take Chromium (a mineral supplement to help your blood sugar stay in line) and Hawthorne (an low toxicity herb to keep your blood pressure in line. It takes several weeks to show any effect, but it is well worth the wait.) Good luck.
Oh Deb, I know you asked me a couple of things and I've brain-farted abou them. I'll have to look at the messages again.
About Christopher: I'll be able to nurse him up until 4 hours prior to surgery. Hurray for breastmilk! Otherwise it would have been 8 hours. It looks like he'll be in there at 7:45am PST (earlier than I thought).
My midwife has told me to not workout for another week. I'll start back up next Monday though. Whew! I don't think I can wait too much longer.
Well, I'll check the posts again and see if I missed anything important.
Oh, Deb! I'll be emailing you the archived Tuesday tips soon. So if there's anything else I can do to help, please let me know.
And I just remembered something else Deb asked about - my new scale. I bought a Health-o-meter. Regular, non-digital. So I'll be weighing in with the best of them - and that would be ya'll!
Take care.

Cheri- COngrads on the new grandchild. I am not there yet, and not rushing it, but it must be a great feeling to be a grandma.

Deb- I have done some knitting, but I'm not great at it, but taking something in can be done like anything else would, depending on how it is made.

The Quilter 02-27-2001, 08:04 AM Hi All!!!
Hope everybody had a delightful Monday. Mine was very busy. Today was our big corporate spelling bee. Wow!!!!I’m one tired puppy. But it was a ton of fun and we raised a good bit of money. But here’s the thing . . . it started at 1:00. We had to get there at 8 a.m. to set up and there was really no time to catch lunch. WE did have a table with hors deurves (don’t check my spellin gon that one, please), but I didn’t want to go near it. I kept seeing other people’s plates that were full of pretzels and crackers and canapes. UGH!!! I was getting so hungry. All I wanted was some protein, but I had sworn that I would stay legal. AT the break, I finally walked by and saw that they had peapods, and summer squash and other wonderful veggies. So I did get some of them and left the sweets for somebody else. I felt great abou being able to avoid the stuff that I don’t want to eat. We did go out for dinner after to celebrate, but I stuck with the salmon and veggies. Had a glass of red for toasting purposes only. Ha!
ROSALIE---So sorry about your husband’s passing. I know there’s nothing I can say that will make you feel better, but just know that you are in my thoughts and prayers. Also, I too would love your salmon recipe. It’s definitely one of my favorites.
DEB---Thanks for your MM article. That’s such a great thought, one that I should definitely start living by.
CHERI--Find out where that TJ’s is!!! I was just asking my SIL about it this weekend and she didn’t know. So I will definitely want to go there some weekend when we’re over. Wouldn’t it be great if it’s on the north east side of town. Toooooo sweeeeeeet!!
DEB---You were blowing me away about the ice cream episode. I know what you mean about things shocking your system. I think that it’s good that you went ahead and tried it. You have been so totally SB 100% for SO LONG!!! Your body was probably having some kind of conversation with itself, like “What the heck is she doing?????” John Edward is on the Sci-Fi station, Sundays at 8 pm and M-Thurs at 11 pm. All shows are one hour, but the Sunday version is the best . . . mainly because I can stay awake for the whole thing. I know who George Anderson is. Two of my friends had private readings with him some years ago and one was even written up in one of his books. Both of these friends of mine lost children and hoped to hear from them. I think the one had a pretty good on-target reading (a lot of stuff made sense later when she had more time to think about it), but the other didn’t think it went all that well. Anyways, I’m glad to know somebody else is into this type of thing. We have one of George’s books at the office. I need to grab it and have a look-see. John E. is coming to Cinti on March 25 and the tickets are all sold out. We were so bummed out. I really wanted to go.
JOY---You took out your own stitches??? You are woman, hear you roar!!! Man, I get so squeamish about stuff like that. Eeek. Hey, question . . . how many of those Naval Exercise things do you do???? Just wondering.
VIV---I’m so bummed that your weekend sucked big time. Man, that’s really a shame. I hope that as the days go buy, the dust will settle for you and DH. I know your schedules aren’t the best, maybe soon you two can have a real DATE. Go parking and make out in the back seat. Sounds pretty fun to me.
ANNETTE---Things are great! Thanks for asking. I hope that bronchitis hits the road soon. Good thing you caught it now before it turned into pneumonia. Take care and take your medicine.
SKINNY---Welcome back!!! Congrats on the upcoming newbie in your life. Hope all goes well. You will get tons of support from this board. They’ll be able to tell you EXACTLY what to do to keep healthy by eating healthy. Glad you are back with us.
KAREN---That magnesium tip is the BEST!!! I’m sitting here with a swollen belly wishing the TOM would just get going. I will defnitely have to try it. Thanks so much!!
MELF---Get better, okay? We miss you!
Well, that’s it for me. I’m going to post this and check to see if anybody’s on to IM. Take care, gals.

Rosalie 02-27-2001, 08:44 AM Hi everyone :)
This is just a quickie to say that I have posted the recipe for the Salmon Patties.
Debbie, sorry you lost the ice cream, then again maybe it was just as well :D. I see that you often mention the chocolate bars that you have and have resisted eating. How long have you had them? Have you checked the best before date on them recently? I know chocolate can spoil if you keep it too long. I wouldn't like you to get a surprise when you do (if ever) eventually open them.
See you all later.
Marie.

The Quilter 02-27-2001, 08:52 AM ORANGE---Great minds think alike and post at the same time. I'm laughing how our schedule always match. Have a great night. Glad to hear your treadmill is on its way. I ordered the book rack that Ashley recommended. Hope it arrives this week. I need to get on there immediately. But I get so bored that I really hate it. I LOVE to read so that should make the minutes and miles pass quickly and easily. Hey, where does Skeeter go potty in the rough scratchy grass??? Doesn't sound very pleasant. Take it easy.

Frog Lover 02-27-2001, 09:41 AM Hello Y'all! Don't faint. Yes it's me Frog!
I hate the disconnection I feel from not posting everyday. I am just not able to do it these days. I work about 35 minutes away from home. By the time I take care of the fur child (plus the one we are sitting the last 10 days), prepare and eat dinner, plus do whatever else I have to do every night, I am too pooped to post.
I am continuing to do well and read most of the posts that I can't get to on a daily basis. I tried on a dress today and was shocked that it fit. I showed it to several co-workers and they said they thought it looked like a small, then I tried it on and it fit beautifully! Now I am not a small by any means, but I did feel wonderful in it! I am dressing up like Marilyn Monroe for a friend's husbands 40th birthday. I will be singing "Happy Birthday" ala "Mr. President" style. THey thought I should do it because of my "Big American Breast-i-ses" and all matching hips. I found a great dress today at the Jr. League thrift store that is just right for the occasion. I promise to FIND a way to email the pics if this happens. http://www.3fatchicks.com/ubb//spinning.gif
ROSALIE - Sorry beyond belief to know that your husband has passed away. I hope that you find great strength and comfort in your friendships and family.
BOB - It was me who was askin' about the TJ's in Columbus, GA. :( I was hoping to finally get to go to one of these stores!
VIV - My husband and I have issues about his family, currently his mother and I aren't really speaking to one another. I answered the phone tonight when she called and that was the first time I've talked to her since Jan 1 of this year. We had an arguement and I'm tired of trying to grin and bear it! I hope you guys get it all worked out. Families are difficult.
I apologize to all who I am not addressing directly. Gotta go get ready for another day at the salt mines!
Good Night!
Peace,
Frog

GatorGal 02-27-2001, 10:06 AM Deb--I agree with BOB. Take the sweater to a knitting/yarn store and they can give you advice. I knit, but it's hard to say very much without seeing the sweater. Depending on the style, you might be able to sew around the edges and then cut it apart and sew it back together, but make it smaller when you do.
Marie, I am so sad--with you. You sound so amazing, as upbeat as before, when you were posting a lot. Your husband must have been pretty special. I hope thing go easy for you as you "get back on your feet." You know that we are all here for you.
BOB and (who?) Who posted asking about BBall? I'm too lazy to click back and scroll through everything. Anyway, UT has had it rough lately. BOB, what is happening up there. There are "noises" that the team is having a hard time getting along. They were ranked HIGH!!
Don't feel bad about the loss to Mich. St. They are ranked high also, aren't they. UF gets to play Vandy this week, and then they play Ky at home, Yea! Home court advantage. The "House of Horrors" is a tough place to play, just like the Swamp! We'd like to go to the Ky. game, but it is on Sunday noon, and I teach Sunday mornings. Too bad!
BOB, UT still has the SEC tourney ahead. Maybe they'll show their stuff there! :)
Does anyone sew their clothes? I need a nice dress for a speaking engagement and can't find anything to fit right in the stores. Generally, if I get the hips to fit, the waist is too big. And the sleeves don't fit right if the rest of the blouse or jacket fits.
So, I bought some nice material and am making a dress with short sleeved jacket. White dress with red jacket. Still have to put in the zipper. I made the skirt part really big, so now I get to take it in a little so it isn't baggy. Hopefully it will turn out well.
I agree, BOB, this is the greatest time of year here. We had to cover our fish pond with pool screening because the leaves are really coming down. But all our windows are open and the waterfall sounds so great. It is actually HOT in the daytime. I don't turn on the AC until May, though, and even try to make it till June. We have our paddle fans on, though.
Take care, all.
Cathy H 02-27-2001, 06:35 PM Hello To All~
I haven't been posting lately. Just been busy with other things. I am not losing just standing still. I thought the pounds would start coming off but at least I'm in my size 14 pants :o)
ROSALIE~ Is the Susan Sansone's 2 mile walk tape, a audio or video. I need to get back to walking again. Where did you purchase it?
I hope everyone has a great day and week, and I'm going to start lurking more. You are all a great bunch of women.

Rosalie 02-27-2001, 07:50 PM Good morning all :)
It's another dull morning here and it's snowing a little AGAIN. Will it ever end. I can't wait for spring to arrive.
Thanks everyone for your kind words and prayers.
Annette, I hope you are feeling better soon.
Debbie, Being sick could certainly have an effect on your TOM so don't worry about it. It will come.
Melf, I hope by the time you read this you are feeling a lot better.
Quilter, congratulations on sticking to the woe with all those temptations. Doesn't it make you feel good to know you resisted.
Frog, I can't wait to see that picture
Cathy, the 2 Mile Walk tape of Leslie Sansone is on video. I bought mine on line from Chapters, a Canadian bookstore. It's also available at Amazon.com and BN.com. for 11.99/10.99. I tried it out again last evening. I got up to 1 1/2 miles this time. First time I tried it I got to 1 mile. This time was a little easier. It's a bit more energetic than the other tape I tried which I got from the library (Walking for the Family) but I hope my stamina will increase with time. It is a good tape and I recommend it.
I think I had better get off this machine and get back to work. I'm washing bedroom walls this morning YUCK. That's all the chores I am planning for to-day. When that is done I hope to get out for a swim and this evening I am going out with a friend to see a movie.
Bye for now.
Marie :) :)

MsLiz1956 02-27-2001, 08:42 PM G'dday, all!
FROG - good to "see" you again. Pop in whenever you can!
CONGRATS to all the mommies-to-be. SB is a great pregnancy WOE from what I gather. Goes a long way toward preventing gestational diabetes.
Speaking of which, BIG-O - yo, pal, enough with the fertility rites!!!! My plumbing was pulled out when I was 29, so that's not an issue, but I have all the grandbabies I want for right now!! Any more would be the result of unfortunate circumstances, so stop with the voodoo, already!! ;) :p
THIN - your family is in my prayers.
VIV - my goodness, you HAVE had a month, haven't you? Hey, in-laws causing "issues" is about as normal as it gets. Take a deep breath & commit to not taking it personally.
ANNETTE - what kind of therapy do you do? I quit private practice about a year & a half ago.
TUESDAY TIP: I took a "before" picture and carry it with me. When I get tempted , I whip that sucker out, and suddenly that junk doesn't seem so tempting!
BTW, I weighed myself yesterday while I was waiting for my trainer. I hope that wasn't a mistake, 'cause I was down another 1.5#! But I'm waiting for my "official" WIW. Keep your fingers crossed that it wasn't a fluke! :D

The Quilter 02-27-2001, 09:00 PM Morning Everyone!!!
I’m moving kind of slowly this morning (waiting for the TOM can be the pits . . . right DEB??) so I thought I’d take a moment and check in.
FROG---That birthday celebration is going to be great. You’ll be a wonderful Marilyn. Glad you found the perfect dress!! How much fun!!! We want to see the pictures, that’s for sure!!
ROSALIE---I love the Leslie Sansone tapes also. They are so great!!! She has such wonderful positive energy. I bought one tape from Amazon and the other from Leslie’s website. I think it’s www.walkaerobics.com. (http://www.walkaerobics.com.) Last week she was on QVC in the am. I watch that in the morning while getting ready, because all the news does is depress me. Do you have QVC on your tv up in Canada? I hope so.
Here’s my tip of the day: I heard that Lands End’s website has this thing called My Model. You put in your measurements and coloring specifications and they make an image that resembles you. Then you can pick out clothes and see what they will look like before you order them. I’m going to give it a try. The bad thing is that you can turn the my model all the way around and view yourself from the side and back. EEEEEEEKKKKK!!! Maybe I’ll need to rethink that. I tried last night to do it but they said it was unavailable. I heard about it on Oprah, so I’m sure they were inundated with hits for it.
That’s it gals. Take care! Have a great Tuesday. Let’s all be LEGAL today!!!! Also, I have to tutor late tonight so may not be able to get on and check. Don’t talk about me while I’m gone. Ha!!!

Hey Girls...
just a quick post to say I am still not feeling very chatty at all, but have been reading everyone's posts to cheer me up....I'd rather do that than sit on the phone with a friend and complain....Thanks for all the IL support, it's amazing...what bothers me most is that DH does not appreciate what I have done to HELP in this situation. The ILs can go take a flying leap, if ya know what I mean... ;)
I have decided that I do NOT eat when depressed. Maybe I should get depressed more often.
I have been OP but seem to have gained 2 lbs back...we'll see what hppens on WIW....
Just two quick notes...
Marie- I am so sorry for your loss. Yousound incredibly together about it.
Frog - two words - CALLER ID! A great invention.
See ya guys, keep those posts coming. Oh, has anyone ex[perienced constipation on this WOE? I eat tons of fiber but seem a bit....plugged up on occasion. Hmmmmm....

Debelli 02-27-2001, 10:56 PM Good Morning Everyone! :D
I'm dragging my butt today, I have ABSOLUTELY no willpower to do a thing today. I wanted to go back to sleep this morning, but I have too many little things to get done before I have to get Michael from school. I just feel blah! http://www.3fatchicks.com/ubb//sick.gif And to compound it all, I'm up ANOTHER pound  back to 138 from 2 weeks ago-doesn't that just stink! It seems that NOTHING has been able to satisfy my hunger the last few days - though today, things seem back to normal, except for the weight!!!
I didn't get on the board last night - you sure were busy beavers!!! I may not get on til later this evening as well, have a board meeting at Michael's school tonight - pisser, I wanted to watch THE MOLE!
I wanted to tell you all about a SOURDOUGH BREAD Sharon and I found at Wild Oats. She bought it and gave me a slice - absolutely DELCIOUS! I found the company, RUDI'S has a website and can tell you if they carry this bread in your area. The link I provided below is JUST for the SOURDOUGH, it has a ingredient list as well as the nutritional information-check it out!!!

Anyhow, it's TUESDAY TIPS and I found this interesting, as I thought I had read all I had to read about sugars, and thought I'd pass it on. It comes from the book THE SUGAR ADDICTS TOTAL RECOVERY PROGRAM:
Covert Sugars
Covert sugars are those that are hidden in processed foods. They can be highly concentrated and make up a large part of a food or they can be a small amount added for "taste." They range from the high-fructose corn syrup found in many processed foods to the hidden sugar in canned vegetables or ketchup. The sugars listed below are some of the sugars that wait in the processed foods to ambush you. The sugar industry has creative chemists.
Some marketing ads will make claims that a certain product made with sugars has a low glycemic impact. These sugars may affect you blood suar/insluin response differently Even a sugar that is lower in it's glycemic response may have a huge priming effect on your sugar-sensitive brain be attentive to labels. And, even more important, be attentive to your body. If you find yourself feeling crabby and out of sorts, go back to your food journal, see what you ate, and then read the label. Something has sneaked in and activated your sugar sensitive system. Pay attention if you are craving or noticing sweet things.
Amsake * Apple Sugar * Barbados Sugar * BarkSugar (Zylose) * Barley Malt * Barley Malt Syrup * Beet Sugar * Brown Rice Syrup * Cane Juice * Cane Sugar * Cane Syrup * Carbitol * Caramel Coloring * Caramel Sugars * Caramelized foods * Concentrated fruit juice * Corn sweetener * D-tagalose * Date Sugar * Dextrin * Dextrose * Diglycerides * Disaccharides * Evaporated Cane Juice * Florida Crystals * Fructooligosaccharides (FOS) * Fructose * Fruit Juice Concentrate * Galactose * Glucose * Glucitol * Glucoamine * Gluconolactone (may be found in tofu) * Glucose * Glucose polymers * Glucose Syrup * Glycerides * Glycerine * Glycerol * Glycol * High-fructose Corn Syrup * Inversol * Invert sugar * Isomalt * Karo syrups * Lactose * Levulose * "Lite/Light" sugar * Malt dextrin * Malted barley * Maltose * Maltodextrins * Maltodextrose * Malts (any) * Mannitol, sorbitol, sylitol, maltitiol * Mannose * Microcrystalline cellulose * Molasses * Monoglycerides * Monosaccarides * Nectars * Neotame * Pentose * Polydextrose * Polyglycerides * Raisin juice * Raisin syrup * Ribose rice syrup * Rice malt * Rice sugar * Rice sweeteners * Rice syrup solids * Saccarides (any) Sorbitol (aka Hexitol) * Sorghum * Sucanat (evaporated can juice) * Sucanet * Sucrose * Sugar Cane * Trisaccharides * Unrefined sugar * Zylos
It is important to understand how food labels work. Legally, if the chemical structure of a carbohydrate has more than two sugar molecules, it will be called a complex carbohydrate on a food label instead of a sugar. So the label may show that a certain food has no sugar and 35 grams of carbs. BUT if that carbohydrate is maltodextrin, your body will respond to it as a sugar. Read the food labels in detail, and pay attention to the ingredient list rather than the grams of sugar listed to learn the subtleties of where sugars are hidden.
NOW, we don't have to go crazy on this, I see where I THOUGHT what I was eating had no "sugars" in it, but it does in fact. It may be so low that it doesn't evoke a response glycemically. I just thought this was interesting enough for everyone to see where we think something doesn't have sugars, sometimes does.
EBABE, that's a great tip on the 21 day plan-makes sense, that's for sure! Thanks for posting it!
KAREN, I KNOW I am low in magensium, so this tip was a good one for me personally. Thanks for posting it. I def. need to get some supplements!
MELF, glad to see you posting, you can join the ranks of the sickies!! http://www.3fatchicks.com/ubb//sick.gif Hope you get better soon-I can totally relate to how you feel!!!
ROSALIE, glad to hear you are feeling better, mentally and physically. I'm sure not being able to stay on plan threw a wrench into the fire and that's most likely why you've been feeling nauseaus, that and nerves maybe. Don't worry about the scale and what it may/maynot say, just make sure you start to feel better inside, the rest will follow. Ahh, the chocolates, well, the Chocolove brand is good til May 2002, so those are safe. The others don't have any dates, but it hasn't been a year yet, so I guess they are safe-trust me, it would be a sin if any should go to waste! I may try to bake with one or two of them soon-wonder if I can melt some and dip some strawberries into it, they've just started coming in really nice now and those would be yummy!! I hope you have a good time with your friend today, let us know what movie you ended up seeing!
THINAGIN, please let us know how things went with Christopher!! Don't worry about the TT, when you can, or at least within the next 2 weeks. Got wind Suzanne is changing things in less than 2 weeks, so I still have some work to do on this!! I too have a Health-O-Meter - good reliable scale-I hope it's kind to it's new owner!!! :D
IAMAP, thanks for your input on the sweater, still haven't decided what I am going to do with it.
QUILTER, you did great with the food at the bee! Congrats! Actually, I get sick quite often, hormones and having my stomach stapled does a number on me at times. I'm quite use to it really, but hate when it happens when I'm no where near a bathroom (esp. a clean one!). Trust me, it's not fun at those times, not that it is any other time, but it's a lot easier when it happens close to home. I can feel it and know it's going to happen, plus my nose gets all stuffed up too - just call me WEIRD! I wish I had cable sometimes, to see neat shows like John Edwards, but honestly, if I had to contend with any more channels for Eli to flip through, I'd definitely lose my sanity. At this point, I've had the remote hidden for almost a year now!!! Don't you DARE make mention of this when we meet!!!!!
BIGO, I've got a crispy, crunchy brown lawn as well!! I better get up early on Thursday and water, our day to do it. I don't have sprinklers and it's a pain with a hose, but I better try! Nope you are dead WRONG, not pregnant, no way, no how, NO!! I'm sure my TOM is coming, either that or I'm going to dynamite it out! I'll see if the library has the book since you like it. Always interested in seeing what concepts people use. Hey, getting any use from the Powerbelt yet??
FROG, that party sounds like it will be so fun! You MUST post a picture for us to see!!!
GATOR, thanks for your input as well about the sweater. I am going to see if there is even a shop around here-from what I can remember, this isn't one, most of the small stores like that are no longer around-gone with the times!
CATHY, glad to see you on the board - even a quick hello is wonderful!!
LIZ, had to laugh about the fertility voo-doo! LOL!! Hey, I'm sure the scale is in your favor, congrats - that's wonderful!
VIV, hope your spirits improve, don't let the IL get you down, doesn't help anyhow. Don't worry about being up 2lbs, I'm up 4! We'll both get back down. I do get constipated sometimes, are you getting at least 25 grams of fiber?? May just be a sluggish system like mine, unfortunately.
RHROO, send my TOM back to me, so that's where it went, huh! Not that I REALLY want it, but if it's between getting it and being P, I'll take a period any day! You do well with the situations at work with the food, you have more willpower than you think. Sometimes I wonder if being so good on this WOE has it's advantages-I see others who aren't 100% on this WOE lose just fine-maybe I do need to indulge a little off plan - now that that thought just passed in and out of my brain, I hope it doesn't come back, at least not til goal-I can't imagine me cheating-am I nuts, or what!?!?
CHERI, got the pics as I said, tried to load them onto 1 site, but couldn't get the site up afterwards, going to try again on my AOL site-will e-mail you after I do so. Thanks for being patient with me.
Well, I really have to get off of this and get in the shower and go run these errands before I have to get Michael. I'll check in with you all later today/tonight.
As much as I personally would like to forget it, it is WEIGH IN WEDNESDAY TOMORROW You can be assured I won't be posting on the weekly weight loss board for a few weeks, not until I get under last weeks 134!!!
Toodles!

beachfan37 02-27-2001, 11:14 PM Hey Everyone :)
Boy I just can't keep up with the posts! Eveyone is doing so well. Just wanted to check in. I am feeling somewhat better but had stomach problems last night probably due to the antibiotic I've been on. I'm home today. Just exhausted from all the work and being sick.
Rosalie: I'm thinking about you. Glad you have your family close by.
I'm doing ok maintaining. Did I ever tell ya'll that I had gone to the doctor and she wanted me to maintain here and not to try and lose for awhile. 140 had been my goal all along and then I thought I would try to get to 135. Right now I am sitting on 139 but everyone keeps telling me that I look like I have lost more weight.
Well better run. See ya'll later.

overcome 02-28-2001, 01:09 AM Hello everyone-
Just checking in. I've read all the posts..sounds like most people are doing pretty well. I'm struggling today b/c it is KRISPY KREME doughnut day here at school. I'm so tempted to eat one but I won't. I am getting my cholesterol checked tomorrow morning and I don't think a doughnut would help!! I wouldn't have one anyway but oh boy its tough.
I'll check in later. Just had to vent about the doughnuts.

cheri45 02-28-2001, 02:14 AM Hi everyone!
I know tomorrow is WIW but the scales called to me this morning so I got on. AND.... I lost 2 pounds. Yeah! I just love it when that happens
Rosalie: I am so sorry to hear of your loss. You will be in my prayers.
Debbie: Thanks for trying to post the pictures.
Donna: Congratulations! Do you want a boy or girl?
Kim: Trader Joe's is on 86th street across from Sam's Club. Sounds like it's not too much further from Starbuck's. I'm going on Thursday to check it out.
I have to say. I love this board. Everyone is sooooo motivated and supportive.
Thanks

Debelli 02-28-2001, 03:20 AM Afternoon All :D
Have a few minutes before I go to get Lauren, so I thought I'd post.
Another mention about the sourdough bread from my previous post. Went to buy Sharon and myself a bag. I guess from it having fermentation, it seems to have a long shelf life. The bags I bought today have a date of March 18th-I'll still keep the majority in the freezer, but it's good to know! Also, down here at WO, it's $2.99 a loaf. Also, when I was at WO, I noticed VITASPELT has now come out with their own brand of pretzels made with spelt. They looked pretty good, but I didn't buy any, they are $2.49 for a small bag-let me know if anyone tries them! Oh yes, and there is NO barley malt, or other sugars, in them!!
VIV, don't worry, I'm NOT pregnant. I can always tell if I am, my boobs would hurt, they don't. I feel like it's going to come soon-I'm bloated enough, and have been eating enough to think this way-just cross those fingers and toes for me!
BEACH, glad you are doing better, I feel yuckier today than yesterday http://www.3fatchicks.com/ubb//sick.gif Must ask you, since you've hit goal, are there any foods you've put back into your daily foods that you hadn't eaten while following SB? Also, any reactions from any foods you've seen?? As I was 5lbs from goal last week (things sure can change), I had a weird feeling, like it wasn't so important for me to get to goal-then look, I must of put a hex on myself-the scale has been going up, up and away!!!! I wonder what I am going to do THIS time that will make me stay at goal-any tips you'd like to share????
OVERCOME, I must confess, I am NOT a doughnut lover, except, I do love Krispy Kreme with the buttercream filling, those are the best! Thank goodness there isn't a KK around here anymore, they closed up long ago and the closet one is an hour away. When I was younger, oh my gosh, I'd go out of my way for them, but as I got older I lost my desire to do that-too bad it wasn't that way with candy and ice cream-but just you mentioning them, hmmmm, made me think about them once again-stay strong though, you can by-pass those babies~~~
CHERI, way to go! Congrats on the loss. Hope your scale stays nice to you for the official WIW! I will try again to get those loaded. I've never uploaded a zip picture before, but hey, I'm game to try anything, just about! My pictures on disk are ridiculously huge, I have to find a way to get them small so I can get them loaded-it's driving me bonkers!!
Okay, now, I'm going to make a pita pizza before I go get Lauren, so I'll check in with you all later!

Annette2 02-28-2001, 05:45 AM Hi everyone! Geez, when you miss one day, you sure have a lot to catch up on. I am still home sick, but going to try to go back to work tomorrow. It is so hard when you are self employed - no work, no$!!
Deb: sorry to hear you are more tired today; I really think this illness is an energy vampire. I think your weight gain is just TOM ready to take over! I really hope I can find those pretzels; I really miss pretzels. I also e-mailed the sour dough people and hoping they sell around here too. The sugar tips were very helpful. I finally downloaded the picture of you and Eli - great picture! Nice to know what you look like and Eli too.
Karen: Thanx for the magnesium tip. I need to start taking that. It is supposed to be good for arthritis too and I have arthritis in both of my feet, so anything that helps. I went off the Glucosamine since I started the diet and feet are starting to hurt. Thanks again.
Ebabe: I loved the 21 day plan thing. That helps one keep motivated!
Melf: Hope you and I both feel better soon. This is getting ridiculous!
Rose: Keep your chin up
Thin: Susy: How's Christopher doing; He had his surgery yesterday, right?
Quilter: Great job with the food at the spelling bee! You are a powerful soul!
Orange: my grass is also brown and crunchy, but at least it is not on fire yet!!
Frog: you will have to post those Marilyn Monroe pictures for sure! I can't wait! That will be hilarious!
Gator: How is O-town? Is your OH back from Gainesville?
MizLiz: I am a psycho!!Therapist. Tee Hee. Yes, I am in private practice too. It sure is tough when you get sick! I work mostly with delinquent teens; have contracts with DJJ and DCF. I also work with little kids and adults, but I really like the rebellion years!!
Viv: I agree, Men are Boys! sorry Orange!
Beach: Anna: Sorry you are home from work too! What non-profit do you work for. I did that for years, but decided to go out on my own in July.
Overcome: Hang in there girl! Just remember, it feels better to look good than anything tastes!! I used to love the chocolate covered cream filled KK, but haven't touched one in at least a year!
I am from PA originally -Erie, the other side from you. I went to training once in the pocanos though, it was very pretty!
sorry if I missed anyone. Can you hit back page and then come back to your message? I have wondered that as I cannot always remember to respond to everyone without looking. Any tips would be appreciated!
Thanks for the support

ANNETTE, at the bottom of the reply screen there is a mini board, you can see what everyone has said and then scroll up and reply. Personally, I've learned the hard way and don't do it as such any more-now I just go to WRITE MAIL and minimize it and see what someone has said, maximize the window, reply and repeat. This way, if AOL cuts me off, I still have my reply in a mail-now, if I get locked up and have to shut down, that's a WHOLE OTHER STORY!!!

Cathy H 02-28-2001, 07:04 AM HI All
I hope everyone had a great day! Here is a question for you. A friend of mine said she puts apple cider vinegar in her water. It is supposed to spped up metabolism, reduce chilesterol, lower blood sugar, promote digestion. I found a site on the net that sells Apple Cider Vinegar pills. Maybe I'll check it out at Bassett's Health Food store.
Have a good one!

GatorGal 02-28-2001, 08:22 AM Annette--Yep, it was YOU who was sad that Penn St. lost to Mich St. I just forgot for a while. O-town is hot! Literally. I've heard that we are getting a coller spell coming in soon. We have all our windows open, and fans going. Is it cooler up there by the ocean?
Almost finished my dress. There are so few fabric stores around anymore. I went to get some binding for finishing the seams really nicely, and they didn't even have cream colored binding. Three shades of purple, but no cream. The dress really fits well. Now I have to do the jacket.
I had yummy bean soup tonight. Does anyone know if beans are considered a starch or a protein. I know that in food combining, meats are not to be eaten with starches such as rice or potatoes (sweet potatoes!) but I was wondering about beans. I fixed great northern bean soup, and added tomotoes, onions and chopped spinach. Big O, I also added part of a package of Wiley's. It turned out great.
Gotta go. Want to hem the dress tonight.
The Quilter 02-28-2001, 09:13 AM Hi Everyone! Will probably have to keep this short because it’s already after 9 and I am such an early to bed person. (Drives me nuts!) Today was a great day. I have been looking all over for this wonderful hand cream called Camille Beckman. Anybody ever heard of it. Honestly, my hands are alway SOOOOO dry, they crack and bleed in the winter. I found this stuff in January but the store was too far away for an easy visit. My boss told me she found it at Hader Hardware. How weird is that??? So we went at lunch time today and I loaded up. I’m so HAPPY!!!!! I ate really well today, too. So that adds to my giddiness.
DEB---Glad to hear your “friend” finally arrived. That can be the pits. But I’m worried that you will still be sickly when our visit hits. I sure hope not. I just want you to get better. Have you gone to the dr yet???? Just asking.
CHERI---I’m so glad you are going to TJs. Can’t wait to hear all about it. Tell us what you buy and just how far it is from STarbucks. I went to the website last night, because DEB gave me a link and saw that there are NONE in OH yet. No mention of a Columbus spot yet. And Indy has the only one in IN. None in KY. I’ll bet it will be so crowded. The website is really interesting telling how they came to be and what their philosophy is. That kind of thing.
OVERCOME---Got my rack for the TM today. Fast service for sure. I’m so excited. Can’t wait to get going on my new exercise regime. (Doesn’t that sound official?)
VIV---I’ve been looking for you on IM for the past two nights, but can’t seem to find you. Girl, if you need to talk and gripe and let it all out, let me know. I hope things get better soon. I just deleted a whole bunch of stuff that I realized I shouldn’t post. Maybe we’ll talk soon and I can tell you one on one. You are in my thoughts. I wish I didn’t eat when I was depressed, or bored, or angry, or frustrated. Gosh, this is getting depressing for me. Anybody got a candy bar???? (Did you laugh just then? I hope so.)
So ORANGE . . . are you posting at 9:17 on Tuesday. Bet you are!!!
Well, gals, I’m going to go watch Freaks and Geeks with my husband. No, I’m not talking about the pres and congress. It’s a show on Fox Family that my husband adores. I think he needs a back scratchin’. That will pu thim in hog heaven. Talk to you later.

karen3000 02-28-2001, 09:13 AM Hi all -- just thought I would check in. I'm getting ready to go down and put some time in with the treadmill. I did a mile last night and I'll do another mile tonight. Got to work back up to what I was doing two summers ago when I walked outside with my neighbor - we did 2.5 miles at 5:30 in the morning up and down the hills by our homes. My husband is actually using the treadmill too, so that is a motivation for me to be on it. So far, I'm really happy with this WOE.
Has anyone read The Glucose Revolution? There is a full-page ad for it in Sunday's Parade section of the paper. I don't know if I should add it to my collection or not.
Well, off to the treadmill. I'll check in for WIW. Hope everyone is a loser tomorrow!

cmd4joy 02-28-2001, 09:21 AM Good Evening,
Once again I'm behind in the posts. A couple people asked me about the belly button suckin' exercise I do (sorry... only way I could describe it tonight  ) I can't remember where I found this exercise... I want to say Prevention Magazine, but can't be sure. I do it even standing up, whenever I think about it, sort of like Keigel exercises.
Don't forget to post your weight on the weekly weigh-in board..... on whatever day you weigh.... I tally them every Sunday evening or Monday morning. We're all a bunch of LOSERS!!! yippeeeeeee
Does anyone want a dorky high school senior? My son is driving me nuts tonight.
Oh, tonight I cooked chicken breasts in pasta sauce..... yummy!!! Served it over whole wheat pasta.
Guess I'll go listen to the President.

Rosalie 02-28-2001, 10:44 AM Hi everyone
Had a busy day to-day. I finished washing the bedroom walls, went for a swim and was out for supper and a movie this evening.
The Quilter, As far as I know we don't have QVC up here, but I don't know what it is so please enlighten me and I will check my TV guide again. We used to have a few exercise programs on TV in the morning but lately I can't find any. Denise Austin I know is on ESPN in the am but we get some other program on that channel.
Rhroo, Spring always seems a long time coming here. I would say the end of March, beginning of April but the weather can be so changeable. You can have almost a heatwave one day and freeze the next day. Sometimes summer seems to come before we've really had a spring. Does that sound like spring in Mass?
Debbie, Those strawberries should taste delicious dipped in the melted chocolate. I haven't had any nausea for the last couple of days. Maybe I had been eating more non-legal stuff than I realised. I have definitely been on plan the last couple of days and feeling better. Glad to hear you have your TOM at last. I'm sure that's a relief for you.
Beachfan, Glad to hear you are beginning to feel better.
Cheri45, Way to go with the 2 lb loss. Hope you also have a good WIW.
CathyH, There is an article on the food board explaining about the effects of acid on metabolism. It was taken from The Glucose Revolution. It doesn't specifically mention apple cider vinegar, but does mention vinegar and lemon juice and sourdough bread.
GatorGal, I can't really answer your question of whether beans are a protein or starch but I think it is o.k to have beans with meat as most beans are quite low on the gi scale. MM recommends in his book that if you are having meat to keep any accompanying food to 30 gi or lower. He also suggests that it is good to sometimes have meatless meals that consist of beans/lentils with brown rice as a good way to aid weight loss.
Karen3000, I have a copy of The Glucose Revolution. I think it is worthwhile to read. There is lots of info on the glycemic index.
Well I'd better start getting ready to hit the sack as I have to be up early for work in the a.m.
Good nite all.
Marie.
Cathy H 02-28-2001, 06:30 PM Good Morning
Thanks Rosalie for the info. Now all I need to do is find the food board. More time for that tonight! The scale says I dropped 1/2 lb. Thats inspiring. I've been keeping myself busy to stay away from those "BAD" foods. Feeling rather perky have been taking my multi vitamin, and St. Johns Wort. I'll know by next month if its helping my PMS. DH sure hopes so. LOL
I was searching the net and found Apple Cider Vinegar pills. I'll have to check it out further.
Well its off to work I go Hi Ho! Have a great wednesday. I'll check back later today.

MsLiz1956 02-28-2001, 08:08 PM Hi, Losers! :p
Just checking in early...I'll weigh in (officially) at 11, but wanted to get here before that (before the phone starts ringing). Keep your lovely collective fingers crossed that the loss holds true!
Had a HORRIBLE dinner last night! Barbecued shrimp on the grill, fresh asparagus, brown rice...sounds great, eh? The planets must not have been aligned or something - everything came out overcooked & gross. I ended up throwing it all away & dining on cheese & Triscuits! Ah, well...obviously I don't possess much in the way of culinary talents.
ANNETTE - you have my sympathies on your chosen profession, my dear (just kidding)! Seriously, I admire anyone who has the courage/patience/creativity/insanity to work with teens. Being that I had 5 of them at home when I was in practice, I wasn't about to go to work and do the same thing!
DEBELLI - congrats (?!?!) on TOM. Hey, what does "WO" stand for? I figured out HFS=Health Food Store, but WO has me stumped.
THIN - how's Christopher? How are you holding up?
CATHY H - be careful/conservative on the vinegar! There are some weight-loss properties (remember the old vinegar diet?) but it can mess with your PH and make you smell TERRIBLE long term!! Remember Susan Powter's son telling her she smelled like dirty socks!? http://www.3fatchicks.com/ubb//lol.gif
VIV - How ya doin', pal? Assassinated your DH yet? ;) I used to do marital therapy - email me if ya wanna chat...
CMD - were you referring to "stomach vacuums?" Those are great abdominal exercises. And I'll pass on your teen son - been there, done that - and survived. I earned my stripes, gal...I'll just stick with grandbabies, thanks.
I'll check in after weigh-in! [[fingers crossed]]

cmd4joy 02-28-2001, 08:31 PM Good morning!
It's my official weigh in day.... I didn't lose an ounce. I started to be discouraged but then realized that was stupid... after 4 pounds last week, what do I want?????? Okay okay... I want MORE!!! I have been tracking my foods, and know I should (theoretically) have lost, and since I don't have periods anymore I can't even blame it on any time of the month.... but I'm not going to let it get me down!!!!!
Hope everyone else is losing!!
have a great day!

I am so sorry - still not my usual effervescent self but still checking in...thanks for all the virtual hugs. I can tell you, at least DH still has his hair at 42....so there's one good thing!
Everyone - thanks for the offers to chat. I really appreciate them.
Quilter - you crack me up. Move to Connecticut.
Listen - a friend of mine (skinny) highly recommended this book to me - I read the Amazon reviews and am going to try to get it from the library. It's called Outsmarting the Female Fat Cell - there is also one called Outsmarting the Midlife Fat Cell (for 35-55). It's not a diet book, but she swears by it and the reviews are resoundingly positive. Anyone read it?
Also - I want to get a good glycemic index book. Any suggestions?
I am so sorry I haven't been able to respond to the posts, but again, I read them all the time. You guys are wonderful.
And I'm still below 140.... :)

didjaever 02-28-2001, 09:11 PM Hi Everyone,
I am new to SugarBusters and new to this board. I am glad to find you and hope to make some new friends here. It has taken me the past hour to get the feel of moving around this board but I think I have it now.
I am 27, 5"7" inches and 180 lbs. I have gained 30 pounds in the past 6 months and who can blame me. Living in Philly, we have access to some very high fat foods like CHEESE STEAKS, etc. I woke up yesterday morning feeling like crap and feeling like my air way was closing up. I tried to put on my size 14 jeans and could not pull them up over my hips. The was the end for me. I immediately tried to incorporate some of the SugarBusters diet yesterday. I do have a headache today and feel really weak. My guess is that I have not eaten enough and may not be doing the diet correctly. My BIGGEST problem is that I am a VERY pickey eater and don't eat most things. I like fruits, some veggies and chicken but I am not live on this three indefinately.
I am just looking for a little encouragement, support, and help with what to eat!!
Thanks for your time!!
Kim
MsLiz1956 02-28-2001, 09:26 PM Welcome, Kim!!!
Glad you found us. And, yeah, it does take a bit of time to learn the navigation here (every website is different) but it seems you've got the hang of it! Have you read the "SugarBusters" book yet? That's definitely where you should start. The concept is simple. I'm still not completely compliant, but for the most part my eating has changed, and I feel much better.
DEBELLI - thanks for the tip on the previous posts appearing below - I never knew that! It sure makes it easier! :D
CMD - Although "stomach vacuums" sound like cosmetic surgery http://www.3fatchicks.com/ubb//lol.gif they're ab exercises where you suck in your stomach as hard as you can and hold it for 10 seconds. Pretend you're trying to make your bellybutton touch your backbone, and you get the idea! GREAT upper ab definer. I have a routine that I do called "Ab Bootcamp" - it's a real killer  - and stomach vacuums are part of it.

I just read this article on Atkins on msn.com - it's from WebMd. It's kinda long but I like reading about Atkins. Makes me feel superior. Here goes...
Experts Debate the Mystery Behind the Atkins Diet
Where Does the Weight Loss Come From?
By Dan DeNoon
with reporting by David Flegel, MS
WebMD Medical News
Reviewed by Dr. Pamela R. Yoder
Nov. 1, 2000 (Long Beach, Calif.) -- Dieters who lose weight the Atkins way may really be doing it the old-fashioned way: by simply eating fewer calories. Even so, very few people on the diet maintain their weight loss over the long term, according to studies presented here at a meeting of obesity experts.
An outspoken critic of the Atkins diet -- Harvard researcher George Blackburn, MD, PhD -- says the studies offer the first hard, scientific evidence to disprove the theory behind the diet.
Blackburn doesn't deny that Atkins followers lose weight, but "you get no points for weight loss -- only for keeping it off. Very few people can stay on this diet beyond a few days or weeks," he says. Although Blackburn currently is involved in Atkins diet research -- some of which Robert Atkins, MD, helps pay for -- he was not involved in the studies reported at this conference.
First introduced in the 1970s, the Atkins diet makes carbohydrates taboo -- breads, cereals, rice, pasta, fruits, and vegetables. The idea is to change the body's metabolism by making it get most of its fuel not from carbohydrates, as is normal, but from protein and fat. This leads to an altered state called ketosis. The theory behind the diet is that the body loses weight more efficiently when forced into a state of ketosis. One reason for this may simply be that ketosis makes a person lose his or her appetite.
To test this theory, Bernard V. Miller, MD, and colleagues at The Research Institute and Clinical Pharmacology Research Center in Cooperstown, N.Y., intensively studied nine men and nine women who agreed to follow the Atkins diet. All of the men and six of the women were medically diagnosed as obese, and the three remaining women were overweight.
As expected, all subjects went into a state of ketosis each day they stayed on the diet. And they lost weight -- nearly 12 pounds, on average. But when Miller and co-workers looked at the number of calories consumed, they discovered that the Atkins dieters were taking in far fewer calories than they did before starting the diet.
"While the Atkins diet causes ketosis, weight loss appears to be result from caloric restriction," Miller tells WebMD.
"It is possible that people who are doing the diet on their own may eat less," Colette Heimowitz, MS, director of education and research at The Atkins Center for Complementary Medicine in New York, tells WebMD. But when patients participate in the programs at the center, the staff monitors their eating habits. The nutritional counselors advise patients to get 1,800 calories a day, she says. Ultimately, what does it matter whether it's calories or ketones, asks Heimowitz, as long as people are losing the weight?
Successful weight loss and maintenance of that loss has been the area of research by Holly Wyatt, MD, a researcher at the University of Colorado Health Sciences Center. She and her colleagues at the University of Pittsburgh and Brown University studied people who have successfully lost a lot of weight -- at least 30 pounds -- and who have kept it off for more than a year.
Wyatt took a look at the diets reported by more than 2,600 men and women. Only 25 of these people ate diets containing less than 24% carbohydrates -- more carbohydrates than the Atkins diet allows. Those eating the low carbs tended to have kept their weight off for shorter periods and tended to exercise less than other people -- most of whom ate lots of carbohydrates.
"If there were successful, long-term weight losers on the Atkins diet out there, we would have found them," Wyatt tells WebMD, noting that she found very few Atkins dieters among the group. "If it worked over the long term, we think we would have seen a substantial number of those people."
Wyatt says that the people lost their weight using all kinds of strategies. But nearly all of them kept the weight off the same way -- by physical activity equivalent to walking at least 4 miles a day.
Wyatt says the Miller team's study confirms what most doctors think about the Atkins diet -- that it works by restricting calories.
"It's not a magic, fat-burning diet -- it's fewer calories," she says.
Blackburn goes even further. "This diet only has testimonials; it has not been adequately scientifically tested. To his credit, Dr. Atkins is funding this research. We are doing a study at Harvard to get the evidence that the public needs."

didjaever 02-28-2001, 10:31 PM Thanks for the WELCOME liz,
I have read the SugarBusters book, twice and I am still confused about a few things. After work today I head to the health food store. I think my BIGGEST problem was the french fries, white breads, pastas. I think it I switch to all whole wheat I can make a HUGE difference. This is my theory. I will let you know soon if it works...hehehe
Debelli 02-28-2001, 11:37 PM Good Wednesday Morning Everyone! :D
Wasn't able to get on the pooter last night, Michael was doing homework, so I hit the hay http://www.3fatchicks.com/ubb//sleep.gif cause I wasn't in the mood to watch Bush on the boob-tube.
I surprised myself by walking this morning! I actually got in my usual 4.5 miles even though I was having wonderful cramps, which I usually NEVER get. They were terrible, but as soon as I started walking, they magically disappeared-problem is, when I stopped walking, they came back, just not as bad. I used my Powerbelt 4 of the miles, not bad, considering I haven't been walking like I had been since I've been sick.
Okay, on to the WIW news, I'm still up  but I know this is expected from this TOM, so I'm not really fretting too much over it. So, I won't be posting my loss on the WI board, as I'm still up 2.5lbs from last week. BUT, if I really look on the brighter side of things, I think I've seen the last of those 140's forever! I got close to it the other night, but it went back down, thank goodness. I hit my goal for the month early, but not today, so no cigar with that. I have to set a goal for next months EOM, probably 132, though I'd like to make goal.
I just got an e-mail from the Glycemic Research Institute where Dr. Allen is, and they said they are having a Diabetes Wellness Expo and that she will be there the middle of March. I may try to attend, to ask her some questions, though I'm not sure of exactly when she will physically be at the booth. I may go anyhow, just to see what things they have available that may be good for us, maybe they'll have low gi foods or info-who knows.
ANNETTE, so you thought we were all so smart with great memories, well, maybe some of us are, but I am NOT one of them!! I'm lucky to remember my name sometimes!! LOL!! Dinner sounded yummy, though I hate making fish at home, never comes out good-one day though, I want to try the blackened fish recipe ROSALIE posted for me. I had it at a dinner party, it was AWESOME!!! Wonder how bad I could screw it up!! http://www.3fatchicks.com/ubb//umm.gif
CATHY, Congrats on your loss this week! I have heard about the apple cider vinegar theory and heard it was a farce. BUT, what may not work for one person, may for another. I guess something like that doesn't hurt to try, what's the most you could lose, if not the weight, a few dollars?? Let us know if you try it out.
GATOR, I believe beans are a protein, not a startchy carb. I'm still trying to get these pics reduced so I can post them, Michael said he'd help me try-you came out good!
QUILTER, never heard of that lotion, but glad you found it. When we were in Mt. Dora, Narda (BIGO) was looking for the kitchen soft soap by Crabtree & Evelyn and we found it, she was happy-it's always great to find something you are searching for. I have so much lotion in my house, Eli is such a good guy, gives me foot messages quite often!! Don't worry about me, I'll be fine by next week!! Nope haven't been to the Dr., going to make an appt. today for a boobie squishing!!!
KAREN, glad to hear you like your treadmill and liking this WOE. I have read the Glucose Revolution, see if your library has it. It has some interesting info in it, but not a book I bought to keep-good to read though.
JOY, so are you still sucking it in?? LOL!! I have my own dorkie teenager, so I'll have to pass on your offer-we will survive!!! Be happy you stayed the same, I gained, you could of ended up like me!!!
VIV, I have that book, but couldn't really get into it, maybe I'll try again. Again, your library should have it. I try not to buy any books until I've seen if the library has them, esp. cookbooks. Then, if I like them, I try to find them on the net, used or new cheaply. At least I know that I am going to like it. I would tell you to just print out the 2 good GI lists from the web, which both are listed on the information boards, there aren't any books that have any better GI info. Hope you get to feeling better soon!!!
ROSALIE, glad you had a good time going out to dinner and a movie, and that you are feeling better!! I'm sure you enjoyed your swim as well. Is it warming up up there yet???
MSLIZ, I'm sure you are going to have a good WI today!! Let us know how you did. You sound like you are a wonderful cook, just like me!! WO, is Wild Oats, another HFS :)
DIDJA, WELCOME TO THE BOARD! Glad you found us and decided to join us as well. Thanks for posting your BIO on the BIO BOARD as well, nice to learn about you! :D The headaches are probably from your body detoxing from the sugar, they will pass, but do make sure you are eating enough, this is very important. Make sure you get enough protein as well, about 30% of your daily intake should be from protein. Lots of the gals on the board use the fitday.com site to help them keep track of their intakes, this is important, esp. at the beginning. SB doesn't say you need to keep track, but I truly think it's important, and it seems that when people are not losing as they think they should, it's usually due to their intake of foods being too low/high. I'm sure even being a picky eater, you can do this WOE easily, I'm sure there are lots of things you'd like to eat, you just haven't discovered them yet!!!! Please don't hesitate to ask us any questions about SB, or about things that seem confusing or contradictory-we're more than happy to help answer any questions best we can. Again, WELCOME!!!
Well gals, I'm outta here-time to take a shower and figure out what I am going to do afterwards. I'll check in with you all later.
PLEASE REMEMBER, TOMORROW IS RECIPE DAY If you have any good recipes you'd like to share with the board, please, post them tomorrow on the new MARCH RECIPE BOARD located at the link below:
http://www.3fatchicks.com/ubb//Forum55/HTML/000134.html
Anyone have any requests for a certain recipe??
Hope you all have a wonderful day!!!!

skinnyme 03-01-2001, 12:15 AM Hi everybody! Went to my endocrinologist yesterday and he took an untrasound. We've got ONE baby in there! Whew!!! I'm up for twins on both sides of my family and I've dodged it twice now. LOL Anyway, we got pictures and everything. Insurance said that they wouldn't pay even though I'm considered high risk for miscarriage so the doc did it as a freebee. I'm officially 6 weeks and they're calling the baby my little space cadette. LOL
DEBELLI, ROSALIE, & THINAGIN: I have no intentions of stopping the SB WOE. I just need to modify it a little from weight loss to maintenance +. And I can't do any STRENUOUS exercise, like aerobics. I can do a stationary bike and swimming with no problems so that's what I'll do. I am at a much higher risk for miscarriage due to the Hashimoto's Disease that I have. The doctor took me off a lot of meds yesterday and switched doesges of what was left so this should get interesting soon.
THINAGIN: With Duncan, I had high bloodpressure but we never figured out if it was pregnancy-induced or crazy jerk boss induced. He kept me so upset that my blood pressure would skyrocket to stroke levels and then I'd have to make a mad dash to the OB. I'm glad I won't have to contend with that this time around.
QUILTER: Thank you so very much. We're pretty excited. Well, I am. My husband's still in shock! LOL
ORANGE: Hey! I'm great! How are you doing?
CHERI45: We definately want a girl and that's what we think we'll get. A few months ago Duncan started demanding to see his sister, even though he knows he's only got a brother! We haven't been able to make him drop it and he's absolutely adamant that he's got a brother AND a sister.
Thanks again to everybody for the congrats. I'll keep you posted on how everything goes. Big hugs to everyone.

I'll post on the weigh-in thread, but I'm too excited to resist putting it here, too - I'm so glad I waited until my OFFICIAL weigh-in day.... now at 120.5!!! That's -2# for the week! Wow.

thinagin 03-01-2001, 01:50 AM Hey all! I'm hanging in there. I weighed in this morning. I'm down 4 lbs! Wah-hoooo! That ties me iwth MizLiz at 120.5!
Deb - we got stainless steel cookware. It's sooo wonderful. Ans yes that new Health-o-meter loves me and I love it! http://www.3fatchicks.com/ubb//love.gif
Quilter - so who are George Anderson and John Edwards? They sound like they're up my alley. If need be email me privately. And way to go about staying OP at the corp spelling bee. What a gal!
Frog - you know we all want to see your pics as Marilyn. So please!
Gator - I sew. When I get the time  Right now I usually get Halloween and maybe Christmas and sporadic chances at mending. I have scads of cool patterns though. One of my addictions.
Rhroo - abput those folks at work. It's frustrating once I ever announced I was on any sort of diet. People I knew thought it would be fun to tempt me, not support me. Then I start in about their smoking and they get all pissy about it. Go figure.
Kim - Welcome and ask away! With all the experience this board has, someone will come through for you.
Skinny - good to hear you're not giving up on SB. I think 3 carbs or so a day are the maintenance level. Have you though about low-impact aerobics (LIA). I did LIA through Jazzercise with Christopher. And I did fine. And that stress-induced hypertension. OY! Do I know about *that*! For my first baby, I was training an... and I mean this as a compliment... a complete idiot! to take my place. I still get all bothered thinking about it and it's been almost 5 years!
Christopher goes in tomorrow at 7:00 with the surgery at 7:45. Dh is taking the next two days off and friends are bringing us lunch and dinner. Thanks ya'll for being here and sending us your prayers and love. Really helps.

beachfan37 03-01-2001, 01:59 AM Hey Everyone :)
Woke up in a foul mood today and actually punched the wall over something silly. I'm usually very even keeled so getting upset got me more upset http://www.3fatchicks.com/ubb//dizzy.gif
I'm down to 137. That would be 2 pounds since the last time I weighed officially with the board.
See ya'll later.

Debelli 03-01-2001, 02:46 AM Hey everyone, just got home from having the van washed. It's been so long I was so embarrased to take it inm my white van looked black! I wasn't thrilled with parting with the funds to get it done, but being we're on water restrictions here, I'd never get it done at home by 8am, the cutoff time to use the water. The car wash places are sooo busy, they are raking in the dough!! At least I had a 1/2 price coupon!
SKINNY, glad to hear you are sticking with SB, and that there is just one! I hope you get the girl you wanted, that would be great. Funny, seems Duncan has the insight that he is going to have a sister, before you knew you were pregnant! Hope hubby has come over his initial shock!!!!
MSLIZ, SEE, told you you'd have that loss still-way to go, and congrats! I'm thrilled to see you doing so well on this WOE, keep up the great work.
THINAGIN, congrats to you too-4lbs is awesome! Glad that metal monster is a kitten with you!! Please keep us informed about Christopher, we wish him good luck!!!
BEACH, sorry to hear about your stinky mood, I get like that, but instead, I yell at my kids for no reason sometimes, feel like an idiot afterwards. Hope things get better as the day goes on. 2lbs down is great, I'm praying one day soon I'll be 2lbs under my original goal!! Guess I should just focus on getting to goal first! http://www.3fatchicks.com/ubb//nervous.gif
Well, I'm outta here, Michael is due home in about 15 minutes, then have to get Lauren-guess I should go do something in the house to make it look like I did SOMETHING today!
One more reminder, TOMORROW IS THE CHAT AT 9:30OM EST please try to attend if you are able to do so!!!
Later!

Debelli 03-01-2001, 05:46 AM WOW! The board has been quiet this afternoon!
After hearing about the earthquake in Seattle, I e-mailed both GLORY and THINAGIN, as both live in the state of WA-hoping they are both okay. Looks pretty nasty there-called Eli and told him-Starbucks headquarters are there, and with a Starbucks on every street corner, well, I can only imagine what's happening with the company, esp. how pist people get when they can't get their caffiene fix!
Hey, fellow Floridians, we got about 5 minutes of light rain! It must of evaporated while in mid flight, nothing looks wet outside :( They are talking about restricting us to 1 day of watering now-my law thanks them oh so much!
I'll check in later!

Annette2 03-01-2001, 07:19 AM Hi everyone! I started to post this morning, but got knocked off again... so, I will try again. I made it to work today, but only for about 1 hour and had to come home. This sucks! No work, No $ as I work for myself. This is getting old
I am happy for all you losers! I think I may have lost another .5 pound but am not going to record it on wiw because I am not sure - Ihave an old fashioned scale - might try one of those health-o-meters.
Gator and Thin: I am so envious of your sewing abilities. i have always said that I was going to go take a class, but never have. I remember enjoying it when I did it in homec.
Kim, welcome. I am new too - lost 2 lbs in two weeks - hey good enough for me!
Susy: Chris will be fine, he has lots of prayers. You must have nice friends to do all that for you - nice!!
Deb, thanks for letting us know about viv and glory; I was worried!
Take care all, talk to you later.

Cathy H 03-01-2001, 07:33 AM Well I tried the vinegar 2 days in a row. Just 2 teaspoons a day! I hope I don't start smelling like dirty socks. (yikes)
Ok here is a question. Does anyone frequent a health food store? My friend said they have this pill (?) Its called Metabolift or something like that. Should I check it out? Also if I do go to the HFS what types of herbs should I be requesting?
Thanks in advance

QUILTER....CRABTREE AND EVELYN make a "GARDNERS CREAM" in a tube that would be perfect for you. When you use all you bought of the other, get some and try it...YOU WON'T BE SORRY!!!
I'm NOT a HAPPY CAMPER!!!! I went to WW's and was up .8!!!
WAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA
More later....
The Quilter 03-01-2001, 09:06 AM Hello MIGHTY WOMEN!!!!
Hope everybody had great days. Mine really started to suck this morning. TOM brought with it quite a dose of snippishness today. Won’t go into all the details. Suffice it to say . . . best not to look at me cross-eyed because I’d go for the throat. Ha! I felt kind of sorry for those little critters in the after school program. Thought with this mood going, it could get ugly, but they really charmed me out of my funk and brought me around. (Now that’s really frustrating!)
But I’m excited because I got on the TM tonight after work. Got my new book rack (which came highly recommended by Ashley) and really enjoyed the stroll. I only did about 15 minutes, but will begin to build on that. And I used to do all my exercising first thing in the morning. I’ve decided to try it at night. I hate getting up early, so I’m just switching to a later time.
The scale was being somewhat ambivilent this morning. It kept going back and forth between no loss and one pound loss, so I’m going to say a half pound and leave it at that.
ROSALIE---QVC is one of those 24-hour a day shopping channels. They carry all sorts of stuff. I only buy once in a great while. Yes, Denise Austin is on ESPN or Lifetime or one of those stations. Hey, how’s everything going? You are still in my prayers . . . hoping for happy times ahead.
OVERCOME---What happened last night on IM? Your door slammed right in the middle of our conversation. Was I boring you? Ha!
VIV---You may not be effervescent just yet . . . but you’re on your way back!!! I can just feel it!!!! Way to go on staying beneath 139. You know, that’s my goal number. So I’m really envious and thrilled for you. I’m going to check out those books you mentioned. Love the titles and wonder what the inside will be like. Let us know if you get them and what you think. BTW, you cracked me up with your little comment to Annette. I realized what had happened when I read what she had said and then you come on with perfect timing. I really did laugh out loud.
DIDJAEVER---Hey, another Kim!!! Cool!! You’ve come to the right place. We are wonderful. We’ll give you tons of help. I hope the headache and weakness goes away. Do you like cheese? How about tuna and seafood? Those are great sources of protein. That’s what I immediately thought when you said you felt weak . . . not enough protein. But anyways, once the evil sugar has left your system, you will start to feeling better. Hang in there, new friend. We’re here for you!!!
LIZ---Tell us more about your bootcamp!!! My abs need to shape up! Congrats on the loss of Two Big Ones!! Way to go, girl!!!
DEB---Congrats on being freed from the 140’s. That must be an awesome feeling! Hey, our visit is getting closer. I can’t wait!!!
SKINNY---Congrats on the “single unit”. I don’t know how people survive with multiple births. One amazes me, but two or three . . . Eeek. Hey, hope your health stays good. Take care of yourself. Hope the changing of your dosages doesn’t give you any unpleasant side effects. I’m not familiar with Hashimoto’s Disease. Would you mind explaining it??? Thanks.
THIN---Four pounds is awesome!!! Good going for you!!! YOu know Christopher and all of you will be in my thoughts and prayers tomorrow. Let us know how it goes. We’ll be waiting.
BEACH---Guess that surliness was going around this morning!!! That wall must have been a really smart ***!! Hang in there. Well done on the two pound loss. That’s great!
ORANGE---Are you getting a late start on your nightly post???? Where are you???
So I broke down last night and opened my Chocolove Bar!!!! OH MY GOSH . . . it was great. I figured that two squares was less than half an ounce and it was really enough. I ate it really slowly and enjoyed every morsel. I almost wanted to go off to a room by myself with no distractions (like the tv) so I would really be present for every bit. It tasted great. And I’ve decided to give myself that “treat” once a week. That’s legal isn’t it??? Half an ounce a week??? I thought I remembered someone saying that you could have two half-oz servings a week. But I’m just going to try and live with one serving. BTW . . . I’m blaming my TOM for that moment of weakness.
Everybody have a great day tomorrow. Take care!!! Let’s be strong and live sf all day!!!
Kim

Rosalie 03-01-2001, 11:39 AM Hi everyone :) :)
Congratulations to all the losers this week. I am down 1 pound. That's the first loss in several weeks but at least it's a start in the right direction.
I managed to complete the 2 Mile Walk video to-day for the first time and this evening I went out to play badminton at the community centre. This is the first time I had played in over twenty years. It took more energy than I thought it would. I'm pooped and should be able to sleep well tonite.
Quilter, Thanks for the info on QVC. We do have the 24 hour shopping channels but I don't usually watch them unless I am channel hopping. Glad you enjoyed the Chocolove. I like to exercise in the evening, particularly if I am working as I don't feel like getting up at 5 o'clock to exercise. If it is getting late and I am not feeling sleepy then is a good time to do it as it helps me to sleep. I guess I am a bit of a night bird from all the time I spent working the evening shift and getting home after midnight.
CathyH, Did you ever find the food board? If not just go to the first post on the weekly board where Debbie has links to all the other information boards.
Didjaever, Welcome to the board. If you have any questions, just ask. Someone is sure to have an answer for you. Once you become familiar with this woe you will see that there is lots of variety in what you can eat.
Debbie, Good for you getting back to the walking. I hope you are feeling better this evening. That would be great if you could go to the Diabetes Wellness Expo and meet Dr. Allen. No it is not warming up here yet. This has been the worst winter for quite a few years for the amount of snow we have had. Also during January and February we have had much less sunshine than usual. The cold days are much more tolerable when the sun is shining. Can't wait for spring to arrive. Did you hear anything from Glory and Thin since the earthquake?
Thinagin, Good luck for Christopher for tomorrow. Will be thinking about you both.
Goodnite.
Marie :) :)
lamap 03-01-2001, 11:48 AM Hello to all
It is so good to see so many here giving so much encouragment, and to all the things life deals us, not just the weight loss issues.
I hope that WIW went well for everyone, I had good luck with the scale down 5 pounds from last week. I have been really been pushing the water the last week, I guess it works.
I wish everyone a great Thursday, Laurie
Rhroo 03-01-2001, 08:05 PM Morning!!!! I am tired this morning-per usual! Yesterday was a typical day hubby home i got more rest thats probably why i am so tired today! I didn't get to go for a walk like i usually do on Wends. it was cold out and i was lazy had a headache all day. Other wise this week is going good. Didn't get a chance to weigh yet maybe today! Its funny how if you stay on program that little tidbit dosn't matter as much-being close to goal helps too. This time around losing this baggage the ammount of time its taking dosn't matter to me. I just want it off forever and am enjoying being in shape and taking time for ME! I am getting anxious though to get to that magic number. A friend asked me what was the smallest size i ever was and ya know i might hit tha |
