Debelli 01-13-2003, 06:48 AM GOOD MONDAY MORNING EVERYONE!
Will try to get in a post later today, as you know the gals are still here til this evening and we're going to try and get what we can crammed in to today before they leave, but wanted to make sure I got our
MOTIVATIONAL MONDAY done early in the morning, so here's my contribution for MM:

COMMITMENT
True commitment is serious and it is powerful. Commitment is not just saying you'll do it. Commitment is doing it. True commitment is not conditional, for to be committed means to be absolutely committed.
Commitment is more than doing just what is convenient or comfortable. Commitment is doing what is necessary. Commitment is making the sacrifices and tradeoffs that are required to uphold it. Commitment is more than just wishing for the right conditions. Commitment is working with what you have.
Commitment is not easy. Commitment does not back down or run away at the first sign of trouble. Commitment perseveres until the goal is reached. Commitment does not waste time and effort whining or complaining or seeking to find blame. Commitment adjusts to reality and moves forward.
Too many people have been deceived for too long, and have come to expect that they can know fulfillment without the gritty effort of commitment. They are sadly mistaken. Real, solid commitment is real work. And well worth it. The evidence is overwhelming -- it gets results like nothing else can.

Whether your goal is to be healthier, more financially secure, or
more confident, it all begins with how you think about yourself
and your happiness._ Not only must you believe that you deserve
to be happy, you must also believe that you are capable of
creating this happiness for yourself._ If you can't see yourself
living your dream, then you won't take the necessary steps
towards your goals._ That is, in order to achieve a goal you must
believe in your goal and in order to believe in your goal, you
must believe in yourself._ This means overwriting the negative
scripts we have in our heads about what we can and cannot do with
positive beliefs about our abilities and backing this up positive
action towards our goals.

CONGRATULATIONS, DEB!
You are my Monday Motivation! Sorry I couldn't be with you, you did GREAT!
Hope your tootsies (and the rest of you) feels OK today,
mel
Ellen 01-13-2003, 08:45 AM I second Mel's sentiments, Deb! Way to go! You did fabulously! We are all so proud to know you!
:balloons:
Solly 01-13-2003, 09:00 AM YEAH DEB. YOU DID AWESOME. YOU ARE TRULY OUR INSPIRATION.
Happy Monday!
Can't wait to get all the details from the big weekend. Sounds like it was a ball.
Did great with my eating all weekend. Happy to report 2 whole weeks w/o any wine or anything else. And that's with going to about 4 or 5 parties/dances.
Saturday I was bored so I did the Walk Away the Pounds 3 mile tape. It goes so quickly. I see now she has 3 new tapes out. They are Walk Away the Pounds Express. Supposed to help you lose quicker. That figures, I buy the tapes and then they come out with something new.
DD goes back to college today. Sad to see her leave, but glad in other ways. Those late nights these kids keep drive me crazy.
Hope everyonehas a great day. It's a new week so let's everyone strive for a OP week.

Zanne 01-13-2003, 09:22 AM DEB, YOU ARE DEFINATELY OUR MOTIVATIONAL MONDAY!!!
Way to GO, DEBBIE! We are so proud of you! What an amazing pace you had to get such a great time.
Sounds like the FLORIDA get-together was amazing. I can't wait to hear more about it and see the pictures!
I did ok with eating this weekend. So far I've kept those 2 lbs out of 5 I had to re-lose off--maybe even more! We'll see on WIW.
I've got sore muscles today--Yesterday we worked on our other house--installed new kitchen cabinets and hauled out the crappy appliances that were left there.
I've got a busy day ahead. I have to clean out my appliances to take over to the other place and tomorrow I get brand spankin' new ones:spin: :cb: At least it's cool here (all right, it's down right COLD with the windchill) so I can put the stuff from the fridge into a cooler and leave the cooler out on our enclosed porch.
I'm hoping later I'll be able to get the ice rink filled up. It should freeze in no time!
Ok, gotta go. Lots to do!
NewportGirl 01-13-2003, 09:58 AM I hope it's ok to ask this, even though it's motivaltional Monday. I am new to the program, have read the book- twice -and have a question.
I came across 2 products ( one was Eskimo Pie bars with NO added sugar) and they both said "not a significant source of sugar". The Eskimo Pie box did have 4 g. sugar per bar and said it's from the naturally occuring sugar in dairy products.
The other product listed 0 grams of sugar, but has corn syrup as an ingredient.
My question is, how do these products rate in terms of legality on the program?
Thanks ( and if I should post these questions elsewhere, please direct me. Many have supported me in an earlier thread and said to visit the weekly support boards.)
linworthlady 01-13-2003, 10:03 AM :bravo: DEB!!!
We are all so proud of you! You must feel so great today :dancer:
You have motivated me to take my fitness to a higher level. I can't wait to hear more about the FL weekend. I'm glad you all had are having/hadfun.
Fillise 01-13-2003, 10:24 AM Hello all! It is freeeeezing here today! Brrrrrr. I hope it is warmer next Monday as I will be outside most of the day for the inauguration ceremonies. Otherwise--I need a coat!
Down another lb this morning--that makes three since Wednesday!
I got a great surprise yesterday afternoon when I got a phone call from Deb, Melf, Yellow and Trish while they were stuck in traffic on the way home. It was great to talk to everyone. They sound like such neat ladies and the weekend sounds like it was a blast! I was told that we are ALL participating in the marathon next year, so I guess I better get by arse to the gym and start the training. I can't wait to see the pictures.
Sol--It sounds like you all had a wonderful time--thanks for the update and letting us know about our fearless leader's victiry!!!!
Monet--those peppers sound good! I'm making the split pea soup this week--it's cold and will be a good week to have soup in the fridge for lunch everyday!
Newportgirl--Welcome! You have to be your own best judge. I would porbably stay away from something with corn syrup even if it showed no sugar grams and CS is a "hidden sugar." I would especially stay away if it is one of the first three ingredients. I would be less concerned if it is way down a long lost. You will find that a lot of NSA ice creams will show more than 3 gms sugar because of the lactose--and that's OK, but you have to be careful with the novelty items, because they may contain other ingredients that are problematic. Blue Bunny has NSA ice cream sandwiches, but because the wafers are made with enriched flour, I try to stay away from them. That said, if you need an "emergency" treat the NSA eskimo bars are sure better than indulging in the regular ones--I just wouldn't do it a lot.
Zanne--you are right--Deb is out motivation today!!! Ice rink? Is this in your backyard? Do you skate?
Deb--congratualtions in finishing the race and for pulling together a wonderful weekend!
BOB--That ham sounds good. It is one of my favorte things, but since I live alone I rarely cook it because I'd be eating it for MONTHS!
I will take my camera next week and take pictures. Hopefully I can snag someone with a digital camera to take a picture and email it to me--then I can post it much faster.
Have a good day everyone!
Susan
BOBatwork 01-13-2003, 10:38 AM Interesting....I see that my punishment for needing to be with my Mom was "no phone call"....AND NO, I WASN'T ON THE COMPUTER
Sorry that I had last minute priorities ladies, but my family will always come first...
I had a good eating on plan weekend, filled with ballgames, movies and good spirits...
I'll be away from the board for awhile, but know that I'm thinking about you...I'll check in periodically to say hi, but our work has really picked up and I'll be stuck at work at lot until the end of April.
I'll for sure be here on Wednesday's for weigh in reporting. Debbie had suggested that my little group at work start going to TOPS for our weigh ins...a lot cheaper than WW's. We'll be starting that in a day or two.
Glad everyone had a good time in O'town...
BOB
linworthlady 01-13-2003, 10:48 AM Oh dear Susan--You might have to go shopping again for a coat!
BOB-Sorry you will be MIA. I always enjoy your posts. Do you work in a hospital?
Welcome Newport. I agree with Susan's answer. This board has such great help on it.
Susanne-The skating rink sounds like so much fun. You are making such fun memories for your kids.
Ellen 01-13-2003, 11:11 AM Just got back from Home Depot...gonna pack up all the Christmas stuff in new rubbermaid tubs...
FILLISE: It sure is cold here too! :) Hope it warms up by Monday for you. It would be a bummer to have to worry about getting a coat, then two days later have it be in the 60's again!
ZANNE: An ice rink in the yard would be SO cool! I used to love to skate when I was growing up in Chicago. :spin:
BOB: Hey, don't feel bad about the no phone call. I did not get one either. I am sorry that you will be so busy...just don't forget us. I will miss you!
NEWPORT: Welcome to the board! This is the right place to ask questions! The Eskimo pies are probably ok, but check the ingredients of the other item. If there is enriched flour, it is a no no. With no sugar products that are sweet, it is up to you as to whether you want to use them. Many avoid artificial sweetners, because they can cause insulin responses in some people, and it is really better just to get off the sweet taste all together for a while. Then you can do with much less, and not have cravings. Once I got off sweet stuff entirely, I was amazed at how sweet some stuff tasted. Like honey roasted turkey breast is just too sweet for me now. I even stopped using salad dressing because the taste of the veggies is so good now that my taste buds are 'reset'.
Off to go pack up stuff, and clean. I am having a group from church over for dinner Wednesday night, and my house looks, well, lets say I could pick one of the last few choices on the poll above.....
DawnStorm 01-13-2003, 11:18 AM My husband always says this and it's true enough...
You have to give up something to get something.
So what am I giving up?
*Gorging myself silly with tons of carbs and/or sugary foods
*Sitting around like a slug with the energy of one
:dz:
*Going through 2-3 skirts each morning till I find one that still fits:stress:
And what am getting?
*In shape I hope:^:
*Saving $ 'cause I don't have to go out and buy new and bigger clothes :cb:
*Feeling better mentally and physically
Yup it's worth it!
Solly 01-13-2003, 11:30 AM Got a minute before I dive into a huge filing job. I hate to file and I let it pile up so now I must tackle it.
I just made a HUGE mistake. I bought a bunch of NSA yogurt at the grocery and threw one in my lunch for a snack today. Just ate it. Boy was it good. Now I know why it was so good. I picked up one of those fruit on the bottoms not knowing it. It was loaded with sugar. :yikes: I wondered why I had to keep stirring it. It's too late now. All I can do it get over it or make myself throw up. I will make sure I don't have anymore of those in the fridge.
Miata, Good for you passing up the dessert at the baby shower.
Zanne, How exciting all new appliances. I love new. Hope more of those pounds are gone by WIW> Have fun with the rink.
Newportgirl, if there is no added sugar tehn they are ok. the sugar listed is from the milk. I wouldn't eat these too frequently as they could slow or stall your wt loss. As occasional treat would be ok. I can't have them in the house b/c I can't control myself with them. If the corn sytrup is listed way down on the ingredient list, it is probably not much so it would be ok occasionally too. If someone thinks I am wrong, please correct me. Glad to see you join us on the board.
Fillise, WTG on losing another pound. THey a re dropping off. I think we all better get out there and start training for that marathon. If I start today, I might finish by the time for the next race.
Bob, We understand that your family comes first. I'm sure that is the way with us all. But, hey, we are family too, so don't stay away too long as we will dearly miss your wonderful (strange sometime) sense of humor. I hope the TOPS thing works out. It is definately cheper than WW. Drop in when you can.
Monet, For the last couple of years I have converted all my storage into plastic tubs. It sure paid off when my basement flooded and those items were safe.
Dawnstorm, I agree with all yur reasoning, but you forgot one. You are worth it too!. Good luck. I agree with your DH.
Be back later.

Rosalie 01-13-2003, 12:14 PM CONGRATULATIONS DEB. You are an inspiration to us all.
It sounds like you all had a great time. Wished I'd been there with you all.
No time to post now. Gotta run.
Marie.
Serene 01-13-2003, 12:21 PM CONGRATULATIONS DEB!
:strong: :bravo: :cp: :cb: :grouphug:
wish I could have been there to cheer you on!
I've posted a few pics on the picture board if anyone would like to see them. I'm sure there are lots more to come for you viewing pleasure.
Today is my first day back on program and I plan on being 100%. I've planned my eating so that should be a big factor in helping me to be successful. For this week I'm also going to make myself go the the gym, at least 3 times, and weigh in on Wednesday. I haven't been on the scale in weeks. So, I need all my buddies out there to help keep me accountable. Once I get through this week of detoxing, I should be on a roll.
BOB, I know that I heard Deb say that she tried to call you over the weekend but got a busy signal. You must have been on the computer for at least a few minutes and that is probably when she tried to call. She would never forget you!
Well, I'm at work and can't stay long but wanted to start the week off right by checking in. Be back later!
Take Care,
Wendy
TVthatsME 01-13-2003, 12:29 PM Good Morning all.
I drank 40 oz of water on my way to work this morning!! I’ve been getting plenty of exercise running to the bathroom…
I didn’t stay completely legal this weekend, but didn’t do too bad either. We went to a seafood rest Sat night and I got shrimp. Usually, I would have gotten all fried, but I got ˝ grilled and only ˝ fried and gave a couple of the fried to my DH (who also cheated a bit). I did have a few steak fries, but only a few. Then Sun my mom cooked lunch consisting of the traditional southern fried chicken, mashed potatoes, corn, mac and cheese, butterbeans, cornbread and pecan pie!! I kept illegals down to a spoonful and gave Mom a lecture on tempting me too much! She said she will try and be sure she does better at getting me something OP for next Sunday.
No more baby goats yet. DH took some pictures of the twins yesterday, will try and post one later from home.
I got some tickets for Kenny Chesney this weekend. My 5 year old ADORES him and this will be the first concert we have taken him to. He is sooo excited. Mom is too. I haven’t been to a concert in years!!
Deb – GREAT JOB on the run. You are THE WOMAN!!
Gracious – Yep, we use the goats for lawnmowers mainly. I doubt we’ll ever do any milking or anything. We have sold several to folks for meat, however… Goat stew is popular around here, it seems.
Jack K – Yep, our Taco Bell now has fries… You can get them all done up like nachos even. Wonder how many fat grams/carbs/calories would be in a supreme??
Fillise – Yes – it is very cold here in AL today. Wind will chill you to the bone, won’t it?!? We might even get winter weather they say Thursday night/Friday… I wish it would be snow, but usually if we get anything it is ice – yuck! I only want to be standed if I can keep electricity, ya know!
Gotta run – You folks be good!
Teresa
Toni48 01-13-2003, 12:29 PM Good morning everyone. Or almost noon... Where is this day going. Supposed to meet a friend for lunch at 1 so will have to read and type fast. LoL.... Can't wait to hear all the Florida news. Had a nice week-end. Stayed right OP and got up this morning and walked on my Treadmill and even upped the time 5 min.
Debilli- Thanks for the motivation on committment. I really relate to it..
Meliris - Good Monday and a howdy to you..
Jack-K- You're doing so good. You seem to really be committed and strong right now. Yikes on the yogurt.. Sounds like something I would do. LOL..
Zanne- Lucky you a new kitchen. Wow it must look wonderful.
Newportgal- Welcome to the board and you're in the right place. I'm not a good one to explain so will let someone else do it. But hope you stick around..
Fillise- Way to go on the weight. You're a real inspiration.
Bob- Oh I hate you're not going to be on the board for awhile. I always love your posts. Of course family should always come first...
Monet- Sounds like you're going to be busy packing and working today.
Dawnstorm- Sounds like you have a smart hubby!!
maemae- Good luck on your week OP....
Well I'm off and going. Hope everyone has a great day....
213/166/130
Toni48 01-13-2003, 12:34 PM Opps I missed these...
Rosalie- are you still busy with badmittion and stuff?
Serene- Good for you gal.. Hang in there... And have a good OP week.
TVthatsme- Wow your Mom can sure cook up a big nice unSB meal. It would be hard to resist all that.. Pecan pie is my favorite.
Toni48 01-13-2003, 12:46 PM Debilli- Just went back and read yesterdays post and a great big congradulations. You did yourself and all of us proud. You sure make me feel good about being on this board and knowing such neat and wonderful people.......
Adams- Thanks so much for taking so much time on the rice. I'm going to try and get some to try....
Mom2Marsh 01-13-2003, 02:09 PM What a weekend! I slipped up a couple of times (including having a bowl of SB ice cream for breakfast today), but I'm not letting it get me down. I'm back on the wagon and ready to go! Just had some WW spaghetti w/meat sauce for lunch. Having chili tonight, so I'm set for the rest of the day.
I promise I'll eventually get on here and post individually to all you wonderful ladies. Hopefully later this afternoon. I'm off now to learn a new computer program. You just gotta love expanding work responsibilities.:)
--Kat
Mom2Marsh 01-13-2003, 02:28 PM Okay, I’m taking the time now! My boss is at lunch so training is postponed! Woo Hoo!
Deb- WTG! You are the bomb! Maybe next year I can be there and will be right on your heels!
Wow, sounds like you ladies had a blast this weekend. I just may have to try and make it to next years. You all have been a terrific support to me so far and I’d love to have some more faces to go with these durn screen names!
Jack-K- I may have to check out these Walk Away the Pounds tapes. I keep hearing everyone here raving about them. I must admit, I looked at them once before but was concerned I’d feel silly “walking” in my living room. I guess if I don’t feel silly doing Richard Simmons, I shouldn’t be ashamed of anything J
Zanne- An ice rink?!? How cool! Being a Florida girl I haven’t done much ice skating and never actually outdoors. That must be great to have one!
Newport Girl- Welcome! I’m a newbie myself and love it here. These women are a great support and education system! Watch out for the NSA goodies. As you can see in my previous post, I don’t always make the wisest food decisions when I have them around.
Fillise- Us North Floridians are being bitten by the cold bug too. I’ll be praying you some warmer weather next week for the inauguration. My uncle is involved in politics and has been to a few inaugurations himself (he even got to go to good ol’ Dubya’s). I’ve always been so envious when I’ve seen the pics of my aunt and (sometimes) cousin all glammed up for the ceremonies! You gotta get some pics up of next weeks so I can be envious of you too!
BOB- Don’t stay gone to long! Your posts will be greatly missed!
Monet- I just love Home Depot. I could spend a fortune in there and I just live in a rented apartment!
TV- Have fun at that concert. What fun taking your son to his very first show!
Toni- I admire you for exercising in the mornings! I can barely move then!
Well, I think I got everyone. If I missed you, SORRY!
--Kat
greetings all... I feel silly saying morning cause I still haven't got the hang of the time zones! Must be all those brain cells I lost having 3 kids!!! Anyway it's Tuesday 8.50am here so I'll say morning anyway!
I think I'm starting to get the hang of this now and some things are becoming second nature. Haven't had white bread, potatoes or white rice all week but having trouble finding good ww alternatives here. I'm going to have to widen my search to some of the bigger supermarkets and health food shops.
I'm feeling good about myself at the moment and feel motivated and in control. Have had some family probs at the moment so I guess my mind is on other people..that helps.
TVTHATSME- My sister will be insanely jealous over those Kenny Chesney tickets! She met him last year when she was on a trip to the states and is a huge fan. He's not really heard of over here
Have a good day everyone
Anna:dizzy:
heartmom 01-13-2003, 03:23 PM DEB- Way to go!!!!!WooHoo! You go girl!
Okay, confession time- I totally blew it yesterday! I was at a new LOW for me(holiday pounds gone plus 2 more)-210. THen I went and ate 2 pieces of pizza and a BIG candy bar. UGH! Of course the scales say 211 today. Okay, I'm back on track and dusting myself off.
THE BIG ORANGE BABE 01-13-2003, 03:31 PM AFTERNOON ALL YOU BUSTERS!!
Had a minute and thought I would pop in to see if there were anymore descriptions of the weekend..
ATTENTION!!!!!!
I'm not going to be gone from the board for ever, just won't be on as much as usual...I work at a hospital, doing insurance and
Jan - April is our busy time..I just wanted you all to know in advance so an APB wouldn't be issued....
WENDY....I was only kidding about the phone call....Debbie can never get me because of the computer....Believe me, when she finally gets me, I get a stearn talking to ;)
I'm off...got to get some things done around here and then I need to sit down and pay some bills!!! If you hear sniffling and
bawling...it's me as I sign these checks!!!
Don't forget JOE MILLIONAIRE!!!! Tonight...
BOB
Solly 01-13-2003, 04:47 PM Good afternnon,
Getting ready to head home. Sure DH will want to walk as soon as I get in the door. Might as well get it over with. Plus I hate to walk in the dark. Always afraid of stumbling.
Don't know what we are having for dinner. Hamburgers or chicken fajitas.
Hope we hear some details of the trip. I think Deb still has a couple at her house today.
I'm sure the board will be buzzing tomorrow.
Maemae, It's sure no fun starting all over again or losing those same pounds over again. Good for you jumping right back on track before it gets out of hand. Good idea stocking the fridge with legal foods. Bet you are glad to have your babies home.
Serene, Glad this weekend was a motivator for you and that you are back on track. I said we ALL are getting to goal this year so hurry up and get started. How is Tranquil today? Any better? Sure wish she would drop in and just say hi. Tell her we are thinking of her.
TV, that must have been some long ride to work to drink all that water. I went to KC concert this summer. He was great and Sarah Evans and Kelly Coffee were with him and they were even better than he was. Enjoy. Good for you asking yur mom to have legal foods.
Toni, good for you increasing your exercise time. Don't push too hard.
Mom2Marsh, Those Walk away the Pound tapes are really good. It's not just walking. They have about 4 steps they do and alot of upper body work and some with weights. It goes so fast and I really work up a sweat w/o being exhausted. Tonight I'm going to try one of the Firm tapes (I hope).
ACW, do you like sweet potatoes? 1/2 is 1 starcy carb. Just eat lots of veggies in place of those potatoes, pasta. Pepperidge Farms makes a ww bread that most supermarkets carry.
Bob, we still are going to miss you even if you pop in occasionaly. It's just not the same. I heard on the news, now they are saying that Joe Millionaire relly might be a millionaire. THey are just tricking the viewers. Who knows.
Heartmom, THe next time you are faced with that situation, just think about your new low wt. That should keep you motivated. You are doing so great. Just think 11 more and you will be under 200. That will be here before you know it. The most important thing is that you are back on track today. Good job.
Have a great evening everyone. Talk to you tomorrow.

The Quilter 01-13-2003, 06:22 PM Hi Everybody! Happy Monday!!!!
Well, remember last week when I was complaining about my stomach churning and I thought it was from staying within my calorie limitations? Well, it got progressively worse all week and by the weekend was being a major pain. I started wondering if it was an ulcer starting to brew. Today, one of my co-workers told me about her symptoms this weekend of being really sick. Just like my symptoms. She also said another friend of hers had the same thing. I was SOOOO relieved. Mainly because of the no ulcer and secondly because I want to eat right and keep those calories down.
JACK-K---Hey, congrats on doing so well. That?s really something to go two weeks without any spirits! Good for you!!! How did you get through those parties? Are you giving it up to help jump start you off a platform? I saw Leslie Sansone?s new infomercial. Those tapes look good. I will really have to fight myself not to order them. But you get three for $40 and that seems like a pretty good deal. I?m glad you had such a nice long visit with DD. You?ll be lonely for the next few days while you get used to her being back at school.
NEWPORTGIRL----Welcome! And please know that you can ask questions whenever you want on here. That?s what we?re here for is to learn and do better at our common goal which is to get healthy. Right???
BOB----Sorry to hear that work is getting demanding for you. Hang in there. There is a light at the end of the tunnel right? Please let us know how you like TOPS.
DAWN---I liked your motivation monday. Very clever. I hadn?t thought of it that way before. Thanks!
WENDY----So glad you had a great tiime this weekend. How is TRANQ? Feeling better I hope. I was so happy to get to talk with you. What fun to have a voice to go along with the great personality. Where ?the kids? glad to see you when you got home?
TV---Girl, if I drank 40 oz. on my way to work, I would never make it to work. Or have to start wearing a Depend. That?s a great idea to get it all out of the way so early. My gosh, what if you got stuck in a traffic jam? Yikes!!! LOL
Okay! DH should be home anytime soon. I need to get in some sweats and relax. Take care. Be good.
Kim
Fillise 01-13-2003, 06:30 PM I'm having a hard time focusing today! And I'm about to STARVE! Don't know why I am so hungry this afternoon. Have been on program and have eaten a full lunch and two snacks (cheese and yogurt). I just ate the yogurt so maybe the hunger pangs will diminish in a little while. I so very seldom feel this way On SB--unless I skip a meal. Oh well. I have a steak thawing for dinner tonight will probably have a salad and 1/2 a baked sweet tater. That ought to fill me up!
Jackie--go walk with DH. You'll be glad you did!
BOB--Ok, I'm going to scratch the BOB APB from my to do list! Get those geezers well so you can play with us as often as possible. BTW--The University of Alabama is hollerin their crmison little heads off about UT being cleared of any NCAA wrongdoing. They are convinced that the entire reason they are on probation is that UT set them up and then turned them in. Heh heh heh.
Heartmom--Don't beat yourself up, just climb back on! I have a similar problem though--it seems that everytime I break through to a new low I get scared and do something to sabatoge myself. Hmmmm, we haven't got any issues or anything to work through have we?;)
ACW--We are glad to have you on the board no matter what the time difference!
Mom2marsh--I'll do my best with the pictures. I have to admit I'm looking forward to getting all "glammed" up. Don't get to do it often!
TV--where in AL are you? Are you going to the concert in Montgomery? A friend asked me if I wanted to go and then I haven't heard anything else from her.
Serene--Thanks for posting the pictures. it looks like y'all had a great time! Did anyone get any pictures of our beloved dungeon mistress crossing the finish line????
Maemae--get right back on the program--don't let a momentary lapse get you. Otherwise it will turn into a 4 month lapse (like mine) and you will have to repose weight you already lost! and let me tell you--it's no fun!!!!!
Monet--so far the weather channel is showing a high of 52 for next Monday (and just in the 40s for Sunday). Sigh. Guess I'm going to have to find a coat. I hate coats. I'd be happy if it were 80-90 degrees all year round!
Ok--time to fix supper. I hope everyone has a good evening!
Susan
Fillise 01-13-2003, 06:32 PM we were posting at the same time. Glad to hear there is no ulcer.
Susan
Ellen 01-13-2003, 06:45 PM FILLISE: Hey, go find you a mink coat...that ought to look divine with all your fancy duds! ;) If you don't want a coat, how about a shawl? I nice heavy cashmere one would be soft and warm, and not detract from your outfit. Not sure if they are easy or hard to find, but I know Rich's had some before Christmas....
Off to fix dinner...tonight we are having Teriyaki chicken, and steamed veggies. I steam the veggies in hon dashi, and the teriyaki sauce is made with agave.
The Quilter 01-13-2003, 06:58 PM FILLISE---Hope those hunger pains of yours go away soon. Would a huge glass of water do the trick for you? (Not a very fun idea, I know!)
Kim
sugarless 01-13-2003, 07:00 PM I had a very emotional day Saturday. I found out something about myself though. I am an emotional eater. I guess I always knew but never admited it. When I finally got home around 12am I found myself eating candy (real chocolate). I took a few bites and could not understand why I turned to candy,I was not even hungry. The funny thing is it was gross and I had to throw it away, . I was wondering what I could have done to try to take my mind off of eating. I was unable to go to bed since I was waiting for the rest of my family to get home, so I was looking for some other ideas of what to do.
linworthlady 01-13-2003, 07:31 PM Filise-I'm starving today too. I haven't been as good as you about what I'm eating though. I want to be 100% legal (like Wendy) tomorrow.
TV-WTG on all that water. And you didn't eat all the fried shrimp.
That southern cooked lunch sounds to die for!! Fried chicken, etc. Everything is a starchy carb though.
I'm going to go find the picture board.
BOB-I love the pictures you put at the end of your posts!
Sugarless-at least you threw the chocolate away. I know I'm an emotional eater too.
TVthatsME 01-13-2003, 08:20 PM Hello all, again!
I usually don't post from home because I just don't
have time once I get home, get the kids and DH fed,
clothes for tomorrow, homework, etc...... I am cooking spaghetti for my 10 yr old DS (I promised him yesterday) and thought I'd check in. It smells so good, I might have to have some of the sauce!
Yes, the water kept me running all morning!! I drank another cup at lunch - small size fast food cup = ? oz. I've almost finished off another 20 oz since I got home, so I'm very proud of myself today.
Guess what though - I got a delivery today and it was the girl scout cookies that I ordered before Christmas!! How tempting is that???!!!??? I'll just turn them over to the boys after supper.
And YES again! My mother is an all time great southern cook. She puts together a meal like that every Sunday after church.
Fillise - I'm up here in N AL, almost to the TN line. I work in Huntsville but actually live in Athens. The Kenny Chesney concert I'm going to is in Huntsville on Feb 13th. I remember seeing that he was coming to Montgomery too. My DH has to come to Auburn at the end of the month for the annual Dixie Youth baseball state meeting. He'll be in your neck of the woods!
Bob - I started watching Bachelorette the other night. I liked it pretty well. What did you think?
Jack K - Yes, I have a 30 minute drive to work, so its pretty long. I still have to chug-a-lug to get 2 bottles down. Montgomery Gentry and Kelly Coffee are coming with KC for the Huntsville show. I can't wait!
Gotta run - Kids are starving and want me to melt mozzarella on top of the s-getti.
Ya'll be good - I MEAN IT!! ;)
Teresa
Debelli 01-13-2003, 11:10 PM POOPED! And that's NOT from relief from an enema!
Just got on the computer and yet, it's time for me to hit the hay. I didn't get home tonight until 9:30pm and Michael just got off the computer.
Expect a longggg post sometime tomorrow - I won't be exercising in the morning so will have not only the time, but the computer ALL TO MYSELF! Kids at school, ELI in Seattle!!!!:spin:
Can't wait to tell you everything!!! I miss everyone that was with me this past weekend as well as all of you on the board!!!!
{{{HUGS}}}:grouphug:
:queen: Debbie
Sorry I've been so absent lately ... but I've had to work late every night. Sounds like everyone is doing well and in good spirits..
Was needing something before my 7:30p witching hour so looked a recipe for a quick cup of hot chocolate.. I'm not to crazy about the ready mixes.
Put 2 tsp. Hershey Cocoa in large mug w/2 splenda pkts. (called for 2 tbs. sugar) and a pinch of salt.
Heat 1 cup milk in microwave until hot. Slowly stir milk in mug until blended and add 1/4 tsp vanilla.
It really hit the spot!!
Loved the pictures on the board. I think everyone was there in spirit.
Doing good on the plan but haven't had time to walk... Not eating after 7:30p is no longer a problem. Read on the Oprah site that she does not eat after 7:30p (not even a grape).
Good thoughts to everyone.... Will try to get into the swing of things on the board!!
Debelli 01-13-2003, 11:22 PM OMG! The pictures!!!!!!!!!!!!! Wonderful along with fun!
THANKS WENDY!!!!!
Nite!
linworthlady 01-14-2003, 06:20 AM Deb-Can't wait for the long post!
Can anyone tell me where the pictures are.
VR-I'm trying not to eat after 7:30 too. Thanks for the idea. What type of diet is Oprah doing now? She looks good.
Solly 01-14-2003, 09:05 AM Good Tuesday Morning Gang
Hope everyone is on top of the world today.
Got home last night and DH was ready to head out the door for our walk. Got 3 miles in. Came home fixed burgers, slaw, northern beans and sweet potatoe french fries for dinner. Then got 30 minute work out in. Iron some pants, fixed DH lunch and mine for today. Made alist of things to do for the wedding and fell into bed at 11:00/ A women's work is never done. :dizzy:
Quilter, Yes I am trying anything and everything to get this wt moving again. I have not lost since Oct (gone up and then down, but never past my low) so I am hoping tht getting serious will help me start losing again. I doubt that I will make it to May like I want to, but I'm trying. I just keep drinking water and diet cokes. Keeping in mind I really don't need those extra calories right now. Yes I miss my DD already. She makes me pull my hair out sometimes, but we are really close and my other DD is so quiet like my DH that I am lost.
Fillise, Hope your hunger pains went away. Just keep eating legal things. I'm with you on coats. I just now broke down and bought one. My other ones were way too big and I just didn't want to put the money into one. I put off wearing it until I really have too. This week the high here is 32 or lower. I want 80's & 90's too.
Monet, can you share your Teriyaki sauce recipe? My DD will like it.
Sugarless, when I'm in that situation, I clean. Exercises would be good. You would be getting 2 for 1 benefits there. I think we all are emotional eaters. Really I don't think I even need a reason. Boredom is my biggest problem.
Linworthlady. Hope you got over your cravings too legally. Oprah is basically doing SB, just doesn't come out and say it. Eating low carb & exercising. Go to her website and read about her diet.
TV, freeze those cookies. They are less tempting that way. Man you did a job on the water, good for you. I love Kellie Coffee. MG should be good too. It was a fun concert. I hadn't been to one in a long long time.
Deb, I bet you are tired. You deserve a break from exercising. You are all that and a bag of chips! Can't wait for your detailed post.
VR, I was wanting hot choc night before last too. I used milk and some sf choc syrup. It was hard to mix. I might try your recipe next time.
Have a great day! Be back later.
Jackie

linworthlady 01-14-2003, 09:24 AM Jackie-What a woman. You must be really committed to exercise. It must really help to have your dh so motivated too. Your day sounds extremely busy--I hope you slept well. I have 2 sons in college and miss them terribly. It was great to see them at Christmas, though. It is very cold here in SC, but warming into the 50's. I will wait to exercise later this afternoon.
Could someone tell me where the picture board is? I've looked and searched but can't find it. Thanks
Tranquil 01-14-2003, 09:27 AM Back on program, and have already dropped a few pounds! YEAH!!!!! Last night I had spinach, roasted chicken and as a snack a slice of cheese with 5 triscuits.... I was lying there at 8 pm thinking oh what can I eat...but then the little angel on my shoulder reminded me that I was not hungry.....for lunch I had salad - a huge salad.....with all the makings bought at Fresh Market, my favorite store....
The trip to Orlando was a wake up call for me, a reminder that I must stay on program so I can be as successful as the other lovely ladies that we met with.... Also, I am tired of being sick with one cold or flu bug after another, and I know my feet would stop hurting if I weighed a lot less!!!!!
Hope everyone has a good OP day!
Sabrina
maemae 01-14-2003, 09:48 AM Good morning all..............Well today is the day that I start all over and I am ready for it............Got the babies home and starting on a new foot with SB today..........They sure were glad to be home...........Braylee kept staring at me like it had been forever since she had seen me and Cody wanted to talk about his chores that he had to do for the horses.....
Linworthy- if you go to SB information board you will find the thread for the SB picture album.......And yes I heard about J&W moving to NC......Quite a shock when I found out especially since alot of the employees are Charleston natives....Makes me wonder what they will do......
Ya'll have a great day......
Toni48 01-14-2003, 09:55 AM Good Tuesday morning to ya all..... DH and I got up with the chickens this morning. 5:30!!! I've already got a dozen things done. Includeing walking on the treadmill and a load of laundry already in the dryer. The wood cutter is bringing us another rank of wood this morning. One yesterday and one today ought to get us through the rest of the winter. We've got a big storm coming later this week, so we're getting prepared. Well tomorrow is WIW and I feel so bloated I could croak like a frog. I'm afraid that will affect my weigh in... But I've been right OP. Guess we'll see.
The Quilter-Glad that wasn't an ulcer.. And hope you feel better... I have an ulcer and thats miserable when it kicks in. But its really funny when I stick to SB I have very little trouble with it or acid reflux which I have also.
Fillise- Doesn't it make you wonder where all that hunger comes from? Sometime I have the worse trouble after lunch. I want to eat when I know I can't be as hungry as I feel....
Monet- Would you tell me how to make a teriyaki sauce without sugar. I would love to make some. I have agave.
sugarless- I'm an emotional eater to as with probably most of us here. And its really hard not to run to the kitchen. But now you know you can watch for that and learn to manage it. Don't get discouraged..
linworthlady- How are doing on SB? Are you finding it easier to stay OP.
TVthatsme- Yikes not girl scout cookies. I was just thinking about them. Do you use the whole wheat spraggetti? I've got my family eating it.
Debilli- I hope you got a good nights rest. Can't wait to hear all about the trip....
VR- I'm doing the not eating after 7:30 since I watched Oprah. Its not a problem now either. And my body knows it.
Jack-K- wow that 3 mile walk sounds wonderful. Yea for you. Your meal sounds tasty. Do you make your sweet potato fries like regular fries or do you put them in the oven. I would love to make some I just know I'd like them and they would be so good with a hamburger.
Tranquil- Its so good you got motivation from the Florida trip. I can't imagine how neat that would be....
Well I'm off to look at e-bay... Have a great day....
213/166/130
Toni48 01-14-2003, 09:57 AM maemae- Heres hopeing you have a great OP day....
Fillise 01-14-2003, 09:58 AM Goodmorning all!
According to the scale, I'm down another lb this morning! That makes between 4 and 5 lbs since last Wednesday. I have to remember that I tend to lose in spurts and that I will often go a week or even two without losing and then drop a whole bunch quickly, like I'm doing now. I hope y'all will help me remember this when the scale gets stuck!
Just took a Salmon filet out of the freezer for dinner tonight. Last night I came home and had a handful of nuts and that seemed to stop the hunger pangs. then I had a small steak and a hige salad for dinner and that held me pretty well through the evening. I'm also trying not to eat after 7:30. Some nights that's tough because I have meetings--like tonight one at 6:30. I usually eat around 7:00, but I'm going to try to eat supper before I go to the meeting tonight.
Sabrina--Wow, it sounds like you are really committed. Your menu yesterday sounds great. I know what you mean about the feet!
Linworth--I have a cousin getting married in Charleston in July. I am envious of you living where she-crab soup is plentiful and delicious (and SB legal!!!). When I go to my parents house in Wilmington I always have lunch at a restaurant that makes a good she-crab soup. Love it!
Jackie--WTG on the walk and the workout! Dinner sounds great too. I almost never wear a coat. I have a big heavy one that I wore while I was in grad school in Iowa--I only pull it out when I have to. I may have to this week because it doesn't look like it is going to warm up anytime soon!
VR--mmmm, the hot chocolate sounds good. I have some of the Carnation NSA, but I'm going to try your version! Less chemicals!
Deb--Can't wait for your post! I'd say you can have a day or two off from exercise after your 1/2 marathon. Sounds peaceful to have the house and the computer to yourself for the day!
Teresa--You should come to Auburn with your hubby for the Dixie Youth meeting! I hope you have fun at the concert!
Sugarless--You learned something about yourself and that's important! You also learned that your tastebuds have changed--your are losing your taste for sweets! That's a victory!
Monet--Nope, can't do the fur. In a state with severe financial problems I'm encouraging folks NOT to wear fur at the inaugural. It doesn't do for the elected folks (and their supporters) to be all hoity toity! Nope, must have respectable Republican cloth coat.
I hope everyone has a good day today!
Susan
Solly 01-14-2003, 10:28 AM Linworthlady. I started exercising after I lost about 30 pounds. I noticed I had a lot of flab. Not only did it help me lose, it is helping with all this extra skin I now have. I have a lot of toning to do so I have to keep it up. But I have found that at 165 I'm a lot smaller than I should be and that is due to the wt training and walking. Did you find the pic board? At the top of this page, click on sugar Busters. Then go to Information board, then picture album.
Jackie
CountryMom4Him 01-14-2003, 10:52 AM Staying Op and working out some. So all in all doing good. This cold weather puts me in lazy mode. I need to make a nice soup to warm up my insides.
Deb....you did awesome at the race. What an encouragment you are to all of us.
Jack-K...if your weight stalls again you might try cutting down or out the diet sodas. I not for everyone but for me they tend to cause a stall. I don't know if it's the sodium or the articifial sweetener. I would say the sweetner because I switched to diet riet and it has no caffienee..and no sodium. A really good soda also. Espeically for an SF ice cream float. Of course right now I'm being so strick no sweets not even artificial.
Susan....you are doing so good on getting those extra pounds gone. If you stall again we'll remind you how great you are doing.
Toni....5:30 is just too early...LOL I was awake telling hubby goodbye waiting to fall back asleep. :)
Mae Mae....you'll do great. It's good that you got right back OP.
Sabrina...hey sweetie. Hope you continue to feel better. Staying OP will help a lot with so many things. You CAN do it. ((Hugzz))
Linworthlady...did you find the photo page? If you go to page one of this week Deb has all the pages listed. You click on the second link I think...and it has several pages..one of which is the picture page.
VR...the cocoa sounds good. I might could sneak and give that to hubby. He is starting to get a little "chunky" but trust me....he isn't going to give up sugar on purpose. :)
Well all I'm sorry for those I missed. The kids are up from school and need a harsh look from the mom. They have radar when I get on this thing. Have a super day.
Love,
Crystle
DawnStorm 01-14-2003, 11:39 AM The lentil soup/pasta recipe. Hmmmm! I didn't have any Parmesan cheese, so I used Monteray Jack instead. :chef: My husband liked it too and I've got some in the work fridge for lunch!
Good news y'all:jig: I was making my weekly contribution to the economy (aka grocery shopping) when I came across some WW macaroni elbows made by San Georgio! :jig: I'm hoping they'll make more WW pasta.
Ellen 01-14-2003, 12:13 PM Here is the Teriyaki recipe for those who asked. It is actually VERY easy!
1/3 cup soy sauce (Kikkoman is the best IMHO)
1 T agave
Mix, and use as a marinade. You can adjust the amount of agave you use according to taste. To jazz it up, try adding a bit of fresh grated ginger, or a clove of garlic mashed.
I let the meat marinate for about an hour, longer would be good. Depending on the weather, I either stir fry the meat, or grill. If you use whole pieces, like a whole chicken breast, let it marinate longer. For a quick dinner, I will slice the chicken breast, marinate it, and stir fry it and serve with steamed veggies.
Good Morning....
Trying the Work Pad method this morning.. I'll see what happens.
Linworthlady: As Jack-K mentioned, Oprah seems to be on an SB type WOE. On her site it mentions she has stayed away from white rice, white flour, etc. and does not eat after 7:30p (not even a grape). She has lost 33 lbs. slowly (the right way) and has a workout plan she sticks to.
Jack-K: The sweet potato fries with a burger sound great. If you like "dark" Hot Chocolate you may want more cocoa and Splenda. Make sure the milk is really hot. I put mine in a clear mug so I could tell when all the cocoa was disolved.
Tranquil: It's funny that the feeling you get in the evening isn't hunger it's habit!
MaeMae: Fun to have those babies back isn't it. My baby will be home this Friday night (he's 23) then he's off to National Guard drill for the weekend. These are scary times for mom with "babies". No matter how old they get, they're always your baby! Good luck on SB, you've got a good attitude.
Toni48: You've got a lot done this morning..... Don't you love your treadmill!! The weather here is good almost all the time but there is something about being able to get on the treadmill and take a walk at midnight if you feel like it. Your weight loss (just like a lot of others Jack-K, etc.) is a true inspiration!
Fillies: I buy a winter coat every few years or so and I sometimes wonder why. I only seem to use it if we go up to Seattle or somewhere else really cold. Hope you enjoy the hot chocolate... It really taste much better to me then the mixes!
CountryMom: Hope you're having a good day. I'm sure we'll see "less" of you soon. Hope hubby enjoys the hot chocolate..
DawnStorm: I really love WW pasta.
Monet: Thanks for the recipe... Have a great day!
Good thoughts going out to everyone!!:dizzy:
Serene 01-14-2003, 12:54 PM Hi - just a quick check in as work is too busy to write much at this time. I will catch up with indivual posts at home tonight.
Well, I did it - had my first on progam day, yesterday. :cb: That is great for me because I dont think I've had an totally on program hour for several weeks now.
Hope everone is having a good Tuesday and I will be back later.
Does anyone know if Tues. chat is back on the normal schedule? I checked last week but didn't find anyone there.
Take Care,
Wendy
maemae 01-14-2003, 12:59 PM Hello again everyone.........
I have a silly question :joker: and knew ya'll would be able to answer it....What is DD, OP, DS and so on.....I see it in ya'lls posts and never know what ya'll are talking about.....
VR- Yes it is wonderful to have the babies back....They are only 4 and 2 and I miss them terribly when they are gone....
NewportGirl 01-14-2003, 01:39 PM I was having a real hard time just being hungry and also wanting something sweet ( I've been getting into SB for the last 5 days or so and have really cut out pasta, potatos, and rice and cakes etc). So, the only place near work to shop[ is s CVS (mainly a drup store). I scoured the food aisle and what I thought was the best was the Sugar Free Gummy Bears. The nuts were too high in fat and the canned fruit has heavy syrups. So, the ingredients on the Gummy Bears has Hydrogenated Starch as the first ingredient. It has 0 grams of sugar but 30 gram os Hydrogenated Starch Hydrolysate on the breakdown in the Nutrition Facts. Let me guess- this wasn't a good thing. What would have been better? Thanks
TVthatsME 01-14-2003, 01:49 PM Hello everyone,
Just checking in from work - not much time...
OK- PROBLEM - I think I retained about 1/2 the water I drank yesterday because I am very bloated today. My rings are even tight on my fingers... whats the deal with that?!?!
Maemae - DD, DS, DH, etc are for Dear Daughter, Son, Husband, etc. OP means "on program". You will probably see more like WOE = way of eating, WIW = weigh in Wednesday, BTW = by the way, and others. We tend to try and shorten things up...
Newportgirl - I'm no expert, but I think nuts are better because they have protein which helps with my cravings for sweets and "stick to your bones" better when hungry. You just have to not OVERDO them because of the fat. Just IMHO... (in my honest opionion). When you get to the grocery store, get some grapes or apples to help with your sweet tooth and hungry spell!
I'll check back later!
Teresa
Ellen 01-14-2003, 01:51 PM MAEMAE: Those are abbreviations for commonly used phrases. DD is dear daughter, OP on program, DS is dear son, DH, dear husband, etc. Sometimes they get confusing! After all, OP COULD mean off program! ;) SIL can be sister in law, or son in law. (or maybe even stupid in law??) A lot of posters refer to their monthly cycle as TOM, (I don't, since that is my husband's name and a bit offensive to the love of my life), SB refers to SugarBusters. DM is dear mother, GM, grandmother.... And when someone is referring to the step father in law, and other extended family, the fun really begins!
Ellen 01-14-2003, 01:56 PM NEWPORT: I agree with TV. Nuts would be better. The oils in nuts are monosaturated and are not as bad for you as you think. You might be surprised at how few nuts it takes to satisfy hunger, and they pack a nutritional whallop. They have protein, and vitamins in them, where the gummie snacks did not have any nutritional value. If the fruit was canned in light syrup, in a pinch you can rinse off the syrup and eat it.
Solly 01-14-2003, 02:26 PM Good afternnon,
Boy Deb must be working on one heck of a post if she has been working on it since this morning. I keep checking for it.
Before I forget, I won't be joining chat tonite, if we are having it, our bunco club goes out for dinner for Christmas in Jan and tonite it is. I thinkw e are doing Italian. Gonna be hard for me. I know they don't have ww pasta. I'll find something.
Tranquil, So glad to hear from you. Hope you are feeling better. Glad to hear you have already started losing again. I'm happy that the Orlando trip motivated you to get back OP. You can do this. We are getting to goal this year. Everyone of us. My feet killed me. I also have RA in them so that didn't help any. After losing all this wt I can finally wear decent shoes. I even bought a pair of dress boots. I can't believe what a difference it made to my feet. Hang in there.
Maemae. Glad you are starting anew today. You can do this. Really it is easy. Glad you have your babies home. I love the name Braylee. DD, DS, etc. is Dear then Husband (DH) or son DS, OP is on program, WOE is way of eating. DD is dear daughter.
Toni, Isn't it amazing what we can get done when we get started early? You will need to take a nap later. If you are getting a storm, we will probably get it too. Could yu just keep it there? We had flurries this am, but nothing measurable. I think they are calling for something Thursday. I just cut up the sp and brush a little olive oil on them and salt & pepper and bake about 20 min util soft. DH uses catsup, but I don't. Pretty good.
Fillise, man you are doing something right. It is still a great motivator to lose like that even if you stall for a week or so.
Country, normally I never drink diet soft drinks. I always try to get water to tea, but sometimes I need a diet for a change. Glad you are doing so well OP.
Dawn storm, just make sure those ww noodles don't say enriched. Good for you trying out new recipes. That's the way to make this work.
Monet, Thanks for the recipe. It sounds easy.
VR, It has to be scary for you with your son in the Guards. You're in my thoughts.
Serene, WTG on your first of many OP days. See how good you feel. I was planning to come to chat tonite, but now our bunco club is going out for our Christmas dinner a day earlier so I won't be there.
Newport girl, if you are looking for snacks, the nuts would be better. How about cheese, peanut butter (natural), fruit, veggies. Bring things from home if you can.
TV, maybe you had too much salt in something yesterday to make you retain water. They say to lose water, drink water.
Monet, stupid-in-law?? do I detect some hidden feelings there?
Hope to check in one more time for the big post from Deb.

I was amoung 3 that lost 2.5 lbs which was the high lose for the week, I got a silk flower, a message, a tiera to wear (isn't that stupid but fun) and..believe it or not, I won a cooked chicken!!! Yes this lady did this program on chicken and she baked this chicken in a tara cotta chicken cooker and I won it..The chicken, not the cooker!!! And it taste great!!!It was my lucky day.
Welcome home all you travelers, glad you went and cheered Deb on...You did good Deb!!!
Serene...Good for you..1 day is wonderful!!! you can do it..!! Just take it one day at a time..I personally can't stand the thought of never never ever eating sweets again, so I try not to think of the big picture that would be best for me, I just do one day at time, and let tomorrow take care of itself....
To everyone else..Hello!! and have a good op day...!!!
kathy
CountryMom4Him 01-14-2003, 04:17 PM Good job! 2.5 pounds is great....and supper to boot...you can't beat it. :)
Love,
Crystle
heartmom 01-14-2003, 04:28 PM Newport- TV was right- the nuts are the better choice-not only do they help with the cravings- but they are GOOD FOR THE HEART! A dozen nuts eaten about 3 times or more a week can help drastically with cutting your risks for heart disease-the number one killer in women. You'll get the hang of it and food choices will become easier. The best way in finding things out is to ask-I'm still learning, lol.
Okay, guys- I found a very old recorded tape of Denise Austin's. I popped it in the VCR and went from there. I could barely keep up with her butt- when I fell behind I jogged in place. When finished, I had broke a sweat, so I must have done something right, lol. I need to incorporate exercise into my daily routine. When I used to be this weight before, I was a size less than I am now-actually almost 2 sizes. I need to exercise and start working my muscles. I called a few places around town(gyms) and I found one that fits my budget, but it doesn't have daycare-and hubby always gets home to late for him to watch the kids. The one that does have daycare, costs $100 to join and is double the other one(monthly). So no can do. If I can't find a solution, then I plan on getting some exercise tapes. Oh, we have a CURVES here- but I got the answering machine, waiting for someone to call me back about info, price, etc. Well, today I have been legal but I've ate way too much already. For breakfast I had a cup of Kashi cereal(sf), and an orange-then I was hungry about an hour after so I ate another orange. THen for lunch I ate a HUMONGOUS salad with cheese, and chicken, ranch dressing, etc. As if that wasn't enough, I just ate a sandwich:o I don't know what is wrong with me today- my appetite is ravenous!
FILLESE- You're doing great! Keep up the good work!
linworthlady 01-14-2003, 04:38 PM Thanks everyone for the picture help. I did find the pics--it's so fun putting a face with a name. I'm doing soso with my eating. No pounds lost this week though. I will keep trying.
Susan-You are doing great!! 5 pounds gone! The new gov of SC is holding a BBQ because of money problems. He didn't think a ball was right in these tight times--$50 ticket price. I thought of this when you wrote about no minks allowed. I haven't had much she crab soup. I saw rice in the ingredients so I was worried it was "illegal" I would love to make it but not sure where to find crab roe. Charleston is pretty, but I am having trouble enjoying it because I am so homesick. I did walk/run on the beach today, so I'm trying to take advantage of the city's good points.
Country Mom-way to gto for exercising. The kids can drive you nuts in the winter, huh?
Jackie-I weight about as much as you do and would like to think I don't look like it. I've been lifting, walking, toning, etc. for a long time. Sometimes I wish staying fit didn't take so much time. Will it ever end?
Wendy-Yea on Day1. Here is to many more. I'm not sure about Tuesday chat but will be there if anyone else wants to. I do need the link again, though.
Newport-it looks like you got several good answers to your question about snacks
TV-I guess you just gotta keep drinking the water. That is strange that you would be bloated ... have you figure it out?
Jackie-have fun at bunco. I've been wishing I could find a group to play with--I never have, but it looks like fun.
Miata-WTG on the big loss! and winning the chicken. It's a great day for you. Does TOPS always have speakers?
Laurie-DOn't you feel so great after exercise, especially when you are not that motivated in the first place. I'm trying to train for a race even though my heart is not totally in it--I'll just fake it until I make it.
I'm trying the Wordpad method-I hope I don't lose the message.
Solly 01-14-2003, 04:53 PM Some good news, my dinner got cancelled until next week and then we are going to a steak place. I would rather go next week anyway and I didn't want Italian. Plus I have a pot of chili already made for dinner tonite. So good for me.
Miata, :cb: WTG on those 2.5 lbs. TPS sounds like a lot of fun. And you winning the chicken.
Heartmom, I have those walk off the pound tapes and the Firm. I really like them b/c I can do them whenever I want, rainor shine. Don't have to worry about a babysitter or nothing. Also get a couple of hand weights. There are exercises in magazines all the time you could do. Weight training really helped me get smaller, body wise. Gyms are nice, but you have to make yourself get out there and go. If it is late or cold, you start making excuses not to go.
Linworth, I don't believe we can ever stop exercising, unless until we get to about 75 or 80. By then I can quit caring.
Since I will be home tonight (I think) I will try to get to chat if anyone is going to be there.
Have a great evening. Good luck to everyone for WIW. I think we are gonna have some good losses tomorrow. :lucky:

YellowRose 01-14-2003, 05:25 PM Hello, Hello,
What a weekend! I am so glad I got to meet some marvelous women.
Words like amazing, wonderful, generous, energetic are continually running though my mind about Debbie. She is kind, witty and all around fun person. Also, she ran an awesome race.
Today I am recovering from all the festivities and I suspect Deb is doing the same. I talked with her about 11:30 am and she had just gotten back into bed for a rest. She was so busy making sure we were comfortable, entertained and always learning. I should have taken a tape recorder because I did not get down half of all the good ideas that Debbie was telling us. I did bring home tons (you can ask my husband and he will verify the ton part since he carried my luggage.) of legal SB goodies and I will at least have the wrappers to see if I can find the products here when I have used them
up. I want to tell you all about all the wonderful personalities and the fun activities but it will take a very long time. I will just add a few antidotes at a time.
I think Serene and Tranquil are putting us on about their screen names. They are really very lively and full of mischief.
Serene: How did we let that one picture at the breakfast table slip into the camera? Now, you can see why I am not a morning person. Even my DH said, "not good". It was not a "Proper Texas Lady" pose.
Tranquil: I hope you feel much better soon. You were very good to endure such punishment to your system and put on a happy face for us. You are, yourself, a very lovely lady. It was such fun meeting you. You know that we will try to be as much help
to you as you need.
Fillise: Wellll, maybe not all of us agreed to run the half marathon. If I did I would just have to try and wait for
the “sag” wagon to pick me up. It seems that after about 2 hours, if it looks like you are not going to complete the
race in 3 1/2 hours, they pick you up in their little car.
I'd better run try to get some things done and see what I am suppose to be doing. More about "The" weekend later.
Debelli 01-14-2003, 06:28 PM Can I have an extension??????????????
I have been either on the phone or sleeping most of the day today and I'm so pooped still. I have started a post but there's just no way I can get it finished today and I didn't want to post bits and pieces, instead, the whole shebang at once is better, I think. So, would you all forgive me if I don't get in one tonight? I know, the anticipation is just KILLING you all and I don't like to hear that you are suffering, but I know all you kind hearted folks totally will understand, as it's definitely NOT intentional:s:
Hope you are all doing well - I should be back to normal tomorrow - I'm hitting the hay REALLY early tonight!!!!!!!!!!

Toni48 01-14-2003, 08:45 PM Good evening everyone. Hope you've had a good day. Mine was lazy.... Just thought I'd catch up a bit on the posts..
VR- I use the word pad method. It sure helps when you don't have to scroll back and forth so much.
Serene- Good for you, glad you had an OP day!!! Now keep up the good work...
Maemae- DD dear daughter, DS dear son, OP on program.... Sure makes writing faster, LOL....
Newportgirl- I would sure stay away from the sugar free candy for awhile. Allot of times it triggers hunger or sweet cravings..
TVthatsme- I think I'm retaining water to. Isn't that miserable.
Monet- How are you feeling?
Jack-K- Thanks for telling me how to fix the fries. Maybe the dang storm will pass us both..
miata-Wow you have a great club!!! A big congradulations on losing 2.5 lbs. Now that is Neat...... It makes it so much fun to get together with ladies that have the same goal in mind...
CountryMom- Hey there..... How ya doing..???
heartmom- Sounds like you've had a good day.. The tape sounds hard.... I have to cut up a bunch of raw vegetables in a bowl and just start crunching when I get real hungry..
linworthlady- Wow you're busy and doing so well, keep up the good work...
Yellowrose- Oh your week-end sounds like sooo much fun....
Debilli- Rest up and feel good we sure can wait....

GatorGal 01-14-2003, 09:40 PM Debbie or someone--can you post the URL to go to the pictures. Somehow, I can't fine the bio. board or any pictures. I've looked everywhere. All I see in the list of SB sites are weekly support boards from past weeks. Help!
linworthlady 01-14-2003, 09:55 PM It's under SB Information Boards.
GatorGal 01-14-2003, 09:55 PM Never mind. I found them, thanks to Linworthlady's asking the same thing. I never would have looked there. That's Melf and Gator in the middle top row of the first group picture.
Nomoresugar 01-14-2003, 10:00 PM Hi all,
Wow - what a busy folder this is! But I am soooooo sorry so many of you are freezing! I just turned the heat on - here in s. Fl. it will be in the high 40's tonight - but I guess some of you would love that!!!
Jack-K - sounds like you are really doing great! Well - I wrote that before I saw how much you are exercising without losing since October. It will come off......
Zanne - you sure do keep busy. Do you do alot of ice skating???
Welcome to NewportGirl - and yes, the Eskimo pies with no sugar added are fine. Quite yummy. But I don't advise any product with corn syrup in it.
Maemae - Isn't the Blue Bunny brand great!!!
For those who posted they are doing great - congratulations. For the rest of us (me included) tomorrow is another day LOL.
Quilter - could you be fighting a tummy flu?????
Sugarless - I think all of us who have weight to lose must be emotional eaters. I know I am. And I am also going through some rough times right now - between teeth and family problems the next four months should be a real test of my commitment! But what I do is try to be online lots and lots - no food by the computer. And I get out of the house as much as I can.
Tvthatsme - could you give your mom some Sb legal recipes???? Most of our recipes are really as good as any others.
Toni - 5:30 is when I turn over and go back to sleep again......until 9!
Miata - congrats on the chicken - was it tasty?????
And of course, Debbie - get some sleep and then tell us all about Orlando! I'm off to look at the pictures. Nite all.
miata1997 01-15-2003, 03:33 AM Hi Everybody...Hope you had a great day....
HeartMom: I totally agree that unless you are totally totally commited to going to the gym, don't do it...After I went to Hawaii, I thought I wanted to be a swimmer..So I signed up for a whole year at the local gym (had to..they made me to ge the cheapest price..) ..We only have 2 in town besides Curves and that one was the only one with a pool. It did not work at all. It took lots of time away from home...You go do the areobic machines (i like that) then you have to fit muscle machines in and personally I think you have to do the areobic machines 5 days a week, so each day you do 30 to 45 min areibic machines then 3 days a week you do weights, and don't forget the pool, you pay for the pool so you have to get in, then you have to sit in the hot tub, and then you have to shower..You are there for hours!! Personally it didn't work fo rme..Yes I paid for it cause I had to , but I couln't make myself use it...Think about it alot before you sign up..Curves is 30 minutes and I think I told yu all I have signed up for an extra exercise class at the college to put in more areobic, and use the machines I miss.
linworth: It sound fun walk/running on the beach.. I really love the beach, and I would love it esp if the water was warmer than 60 like our No Calif water is..60 is tooo cold. I have heard that the east coast and florida water is warm..true???
Jack-K.. Glad your dinner was cancelled and you get to eat steak..Nothing better than a good Steak..I love that!!!
Nomoresugar: Chicken was good, just as good as mine..I usually roterie mine with a ronco machine. I was just thrilled to win it
Kathy
gracious 01-15-2003, 07:57 AM My computer has been giving me severe sorrow so I could not get on here. I finally caught up on this weeks posts and it looks like everyone had a great weekend.
I am still chugging along and watching the holiday pounds slowly go but it is taking longer than I would like. Had one day of carbfest eating which didn't help but I am back on track. Hate that I do this to myself but I know I must get in gear!
I have yet to check out the photos. I wanted to see if I could post before risking another crash. I just wanted to say hello and that I am still on the wagon!
I finished all my squares for my quilt so the next step is the sashing and I have to decide what colour I will make it. The squares look great ...I have even impressed myself.
I will try to check in later and actually post to individuals. Now off to see those pictures.
Zanne 01-15-2003, 08:17 AM WHOOHOO!!!!!:cb: :cp:  I am down to 166! 1 lb away from my low. I've lost the gain I had last week! Yippee!
I had a bit of personal stress a couple of weeks ago. I know that stress can affect blood sugar. And when I stress, I usually don't eat much. Maybe my body realized this and kept EVERYTHING in case I started eating like a bird. As soon as I realized I was stressing and why and resolved the problem, my weight started to go down. VERY STRANGE!:dizzy:
I'm going to try to get back later and post some replies. Hope everyone has a GREAT WIW!
Bye for now!
linworthlady 01-15-2003, 08:24 AM Miata-Our water temp is only 57 now but it does get very warm in the summer--like in the 80's.
Susanne-WTG on that loss!
Gracious-I'm glad you got that computer back.
Toni-don't you love lazy days. BTW, I'm not sure what I said but I don't feel very busy. In fact, I have been unhappy about how unbusy I am. I'm trying to enjoy my little vacation but I'm used to working 2 jobs, volunteering, etc. and presently I'm not doing either. I do like having more time to exercise
I am too bummed to report my weight for WIW. I am up from yesterday, and about 5 pounds up from before the holidays. I've been eating well and exercising more so I'm not sure what the problem is. Here's to a better week!!
Deb-I hope you are getting some rest. You look mahvelous in the pictures!! How are your legs feeling?
Solly 01-15-2003, 08:39 AM Happy WIW! :D
Hope the scale is good to everyone today.I am happy to report that I am back to my all time low of 163. That's 2 lbs gone this week. I haven't seen that number since the first of Dec. Hopefully, I won't see if for very long. Next week I want a new all time low #.
Gator and Serene, it was nice "chatting" with you last night. I really enjoy going to chat and getting to know more about people. Hopefully we can start back again and get more of a crowd.
Toni, We are expecting 3-6" tomorrow. SO you might get it today.
Yellowrose, thanks for the tidbits of the weekend. It is nice to get more info on everybody.
Nomoresugar, Boy I would be feeling pretty good if I could sleep to 9 every day. Think my boss would mind if I come in around 10?
Miata, I think we have all joined some type of gym or health club and ended up not going. I have. Such good intentions at first, but I agree with you, just too many hours spent there.
Gracious, keep hanging in there and those pounds will come off. They never come off fast enough for us. I bet your quilt is lovely.
Zanne, WTG on losing those pounds. :cb: I knew you could do it. Now just keep on going down. Stress is a funny thing. Surprising how much it can affect someone in different ways.
Linworthlady, if you are eating right and exercising, it will come off. It may take your body ahwile to fugure it out and adjust. Hang in there. I would imagine you are getting bored if you used to do all that. I'm sure you will find something soon.
Have a great day.

NewportGirl 01-15-2003, 09:20 AM HI
How is Chinese food on SB? Is it to be completely avoided or is there a good way to order it or something on the menu that is better to order? thank you!
Ellen 01-15-2003, 09:39 AM NEWPORT: Most Chinese restaurants use MSG, which can cause water retention, and headaches in those susceptible. They also use sugar, and cornstarch to thicken those sauces. A few things that usually work ok are Egg Foo Yung, ask them to serve the gravy on the side, or not bring it at all. A bit of soy sauce on it is pretty good. If you order a stir fry, ask what kind of sauce it has on it. Moo Goo Gai Pan has a all legal veggies, except the occasional baby corn, but the sauce is thickened with cornstarch. If you avoid the sauce, you can probably do ok, or close to legal. Stay away from any fried things, like egg rolls, won tons, and battered meats in stir frys like lemon chicken, General Cho's chicken, etc. Of course, sweet and sours are out. They use a ton of sugar and pineapple juice in the sweet and sour sauce. Each restaurant fixes wings differently, but I have found some that just fry them without batter. I get a wing, instead of an egg roll, and order a soup that is not thickened. Egg Drop is, so is Hot and Sour. If they offer a spinach, or vegetable soup, they are probably ok. In a pinch, egg drop will be close to legal. Of course pass on the white rice. Some restaurants offer appetizers like ribs, but they are usually done in a sweet bbq sauce, so ask before you get them. Something like Mongolian beef is good. That is served on mung bean threads, which are ok. You can ask if they will steam your food without sauce. Some places are pretty nice about that. Hope this helps!
music teach 01-15-2003, 10:20 AM Mornin' y'all. Well, finally a good WIW for me. I'm down 3 lbs from last week. :D Excuse me while I pat myself on the back. I haven't had time to catch up on all the posts. I'll try to get back on later. This week has been busy. Our elem. school has been competeing in UIL events and I coach the music team. Competition was yesterday so things should slow down a little now.
NewportGirl 01-15-2003, 10:26 AM Monet, thanks for the info on the Chinese food. I would most likely do a stir fry and you said to ask what kind of sauces are on it. Not to be a pessimist, but I doubt I will get an answer from the waiter on whether or not there is cornstarch in it, so what are good sauces? Black bean?
I think the place we go to does not use any MSG so that is good! thanks again
Toni48 01-15-2003, 10:42 AM Good morning everyone. Well I weighed this morning and stayed the same. I'm happy with that as I've been bloated all week. My used to be time for TOM. So I'm sure next week will be better...
Nomoresugar- Yep your weather would be like spring here in Missouri. Lucky you.
miata- The swimming training sounds really hard. But it would sure get you in shape...
gracious- Oh you quilt.. How wonderful... I'm trying a little of it and just don't seem to have the stuff it takes. I think it will take all year to do a couch blanket. But its going to be someones Christmas gift next year. So guess I don't have to hurry.
Zanne- Congradulations on your loss. We weigh the same now..
linworthlady- Don't be depressed all this could be is water weight and next week you'll do good. I've been bloated like a fat frog all week and everytime I stepped on the scale I'd have gained a few more lbs. I ended up losing nothing and being OP all week and walked on my treadmill too. So just hang in there gal. Please don't get down about it..
Jack-K- Oh my gosh you did great this week. All that exerciseing is paying off and also those good meals you're cooking. I'm so excited for you. They're still saying Thursday for our storm. But just in case think I'll go today and get some groceries. I have an appointment with my heart doctor Thurs. and its about an hour or so from here. Hope it doesn't cause me to cancell.
Newportgirl- I've found I can't find nothing legal with Chinese food unless I make it myself. And I love it...
music Teach- Wa hooo on 3 big lbs. Good going....
Seems like I'm missing a page will have to post this and then go see. Have a great day and congrads to everyone. Just being here sometimes should get us a pat on the back..

miata1997 01-15-2003, 10:54 AM Hello...this is my day off so i will have to be careful, this is where I usually blow it..too much time near the kitchen, thank goodness I have gotten rid of stuff, and am planning on cleaning up kitchen heavy duty, I can' believe I haven't had any fast food since the end of Dec..That is unbelievable for me..I was a junk food junky. I loved it..But now...I cook.
Music!!! 3 lbs...gone, that is so grreat!!!! You get a diamon tiara to wear!!!
Gracious: So what kinds of quilt are you doing??? I just realized I have way too many tops done and not enough sandwhiched. I have to remember that a quilt is not actually done till the quilt is quilted, binded, and labeled..!!! I have a goal this year, to finnish more quilts than I start.
Zanne: way to go. How is the ice skating rink ??? are you skating yet?? how big is it???
Lin: 80.. that sounds good. I bet you really enjoy it. I love taking my dogs to the beach and running around..We live about 2 hours from the ocean and it is not a straight shot..bummer
Better get into my quilt room and quilt while dh is sleeping.. My favorite time to quilt is in the morning with a hot cup of coffee. Only do it on my day off, so it is a treat..
Everyone please have a great day..
Kathy
Fillise 01-15-2003, 11:01 AM It is official--a 4 lb loss for the week. Yippeeee!!!! I bounced up just a tad this morning, but I think that is from eating dinner at 8:30 pm last night. I had a meeting that ran late so we went to Ruby Tuesdays afterwards. I had the salad bar, but I was staving so it was a "mile high" salad. I think there is something to eating early. If I eat by 7:00 then my body goes 12 hours without food and that, I think, is when it must be forced to burn some body fat to have fuel!
This morning I had 1/2 of those wonderful Texas grapefruit. Then a slice of my homemade WW bread with PB. I found a better bread recipe that makes a lighter loaf. I'll try to remember to post it on the recipe board in the next day or so.
Toni--Goodmorning to you! Doesn't TOM s**K? You always have to prepare your self for a gain or stall every three weeks. HATE IT!
Newport--the last time I went to a Chinease restaurant all I could taste was sugar in the sauces. I couldn't find a single one that didn't taste sweet. My favorite Chinese restaurant in town keeps two pots of egg drop soup. one for the buffet that has been thickened. But if you order from the menu, you get a wonderful clear soup with shrimp and some other veggies. Very tasty and very legal!
Music--WTG on the loss!
Monet--you have inspried me to make egg drop soup for lunch today! I have a good recipe that is entirely legal. It is cold and soup will hit the spot at lunchtime!
Jackie--Congrats on getting back to your low! You go girl!
Linworth--I've never seen she-crab soup with rice in it? The newspaper in Wilmington did a story several years ago about places that served SB legal foods. The she-crab soup was one of the items featured. It certainly would be a disaster on a low fat diet, but according to the recipe this was entirely SB legal!
Zanne--Congrats--not only on getting back to w/in one lb of your low, but learning something very important about yourself!
Gracious--are you hand or machine quilting? I've always wanted to learn to quilt, but don't need anythign else to take over my life at this point.
Miata--Know what you mean about the time at the gym. I have been making myself get in and out this week. otherwise I won't make the time commitment to go!
Deb--Well ok, I guess you can have the extension--but no more than one day!
Yellow--I qualify for the "sag wagon" on a lot of levels! Hey I got up to 1 1/4 mile at the gym yesterday--only 12 and 1/4 to go!!!!
Ok gotta get to work now. If I missed you, I'm sorry. I hope everyone is a loser today!
Susan
Fillise 01-15-2003, 11:05 AM Miata--We must have been posting at the same time. Have fun with the quilting!
Susan
Tranquil 01-15-2003, 11:10 AM Country – Warm soup sounds so good right now! It is actually cold here in Florida as well – 36 this morning on the way to work! Winter is definitely here! Actually I am thinking of getting a roast and cooking it all day with some vegetables (no root veggies, just tomatoes, onion, peppers).
Fillise – Yummy, Salmon, and sounds delicious – I guess you could say I am a bit hungry this morning, but won’t have a chance to get out to have a bite until after 12. CONGRATS on your loss! Tonight I am going to have the leftover roasted chicken, but with broccoli.
Toni – Stay warm!!!! I was tempted to have a fire last night as well, but was too tired to deal with it…if the weather continues to cold this weekend, definitely going to camp out in the den with a fire going…so cozy. Way to go on the treadmill and laundry, well the latter is still such a “chore” for me…don’t like laundry, hehehe…
MaeMae – Have a good start back on program!!! You are not alone!
JackK – I will be cheering you on to lose the weight !! You have done so well, I guess any last few pounds will be tough ones, but you can do it!!! I have lost another pound, so I am sure that within the next month or so I should be back to where I was in October when I was leaving for vacation. Stylish boots, wow, that is great!!! I am wearing Eccos because they are so cushioned – orthopedic styled shoes…will be nice when I can put on some cool fancy shoes and not have sore feet for weeks after! hahaha
VR – the hot cocoa sounds delicious!!!!!
LinWorth – Charleston is one of my favorite places to go for a nice long weekend…of course, there are so many fun places to go to eat, eat and more eat – hahahaha – I missed where you are originally from – you mentioned being homesick.
Yellow Rose – I have to say it was absolutely wonderful getting the chance to meet you and the other ladies! I cannot see any picture of you being “not good” – you are absolutely gorgeous, inside and out! I am glad you had a wonderful time in Florida!
No More Sugar – what a cute name! Here in N. Florida is the same – guess everyone from up North has brought the cold with them on their way to their winter homes! Hahahaha….
Miata – Where is Ukiah? I am tempted to check out Curves myself, though I belong to a club where my son can go too – so I worry about the extra expense of Curves and the club…but I might just check it out since you and some others are impressed with it…..
Gracious! Hi there – sorry to hear about the computer – hope it gets better!!! I am right there with you trying to get off those holiday pounds! But it feels good seeing them go….hang in there!
Zanne – CONGRATULATIONS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Funny how stress affects us!
Music Teach – WTG!!!!! Sending pats on the back!
Monet – hope you are feeling better these days!!! I am eager too, to make egg drop soup – I love that stuff – especially when not feeling well!
Well I have to get going because I need to get busy with work….hello to those I have missed – and congratulations to all the Losers !!!!!
Sabrina

maemae 01-15-2003, 11:21 AM Good morning all..........I am pleased to announce that I started my day off on the right foot..........DS and DD and I had a glass of juice first thing and while I could sneak into the kitchen I made my self a legal PBJ sandwich on legal bread and ate that on the way to work.........I also brought legal yougurt and string cheese...I bought a box of triscuits and have the close to me at all times.....
I do have a question about my yougrt though.......It is BlueBunny brand but it is strawberry/banana........Do you think it is still legal? I just figured they used banana flavoring, but who am I to know.....Maybe ya'll will.
Also read somewhere that Carrots are now legal if eaten raw...Anyone know about that?
It is soooooooo hard for me to address all of ya'll but I just want to tell you all that your comments and blessings are very much appreciated.....Im going thru a rough time right now with my divorce and really dont have anyone to "Vent" with (good or bad).... I want this sooooooooooo bad so that when I look in the mirror I dont see all the bad things my ex has said about me....I want to prove to everyone that I can do it......
Ya'll have a wonderful day.....
Trishaloo 01-15-2003, 11:46 AM Good morning everyone!!!
First of all, I have to tell everyone that I met in Orlando, what a wonderful time I had. A special thanks to Deb and Solshine for opening up their homes to us (and to their darling spouses for putting up with our craziness). For the those of you that couldn't make it, please know that you were in our thoughts while we were there. I know this has been said before, but I'll have to repeat it, if you ever get the opportunity to meet one of the folks on this board, go for it!!! I can't wait to see everyone again.
Now for the bad news, there was way too much food and the DD mistress did not do a very good job of keeping us in line. I'm up a pound today. However, I am firmly back on track as I sit here drinking my water and looking forward to my soup and salad for lunch.
I am way too behind to try to post to everyone individually and these silly people at my office expect me to get some work done. Pretty selfish if you ask me.
I'll try to get more posted later.
Have a great day, everyone.
Trish
Fillise 01-15-2003, 11:55 AM Maemae--I buy any brand of the Blue Bunny yogurt. Strawberry-bananna is one of my favorite flavors. I have added bananas and carrots both back to my diet. The GI for bananas is 52 and the GL is 12 both are in the low-moderate range. The greener they are they lower the sugar. Carrots have a high GI but because they are mostly water the GL is a very low 3. So enjoy your raw carrots. Again, if they are cooked the sugars break down more quickly and rise the blood glucose more. But they are probably still ok in moderation.

CountryMom4Him 01-15-2003, 12:34 PM Good morning all! I'm happy to report a 3 pound loss..back down to 153 :) It's been a long time since I had two lossing weeks in a row. Too bad I had to put pounds on again first....but happy they are OFF.
Sabrina..I'm starving this morning too. I think it's the cooler weather. We are using calories shivering...:) You'll get those pounds back off in no time.
Jack-K...WTG you skinny thing! Are you cutting way down on your starchy carbs or just eating normal? I've cut way back and know I can't keep this up for very long and be healthy. I'm leary of adding the breads back in too soon.
WTG Music!! How about this weather? I can't believe we went from shorts to freezing so fast. Our next front is due tommorrow and it's suppose to be a doozey...I'm cold just thinking about it.
Trish...I can't believe they expect you to work when you have so much to do online...:D That pound is probably just water and will be gone way before WIW next week.
MaeMae...hang in there. You are doing so good. Divorce is yucky and mean ex's far to common. You are committed and will be successful. He'll have to eat his words.
Hey Susan....4 pounds is da bomb! WTG.
Miata...you are doing so good staying away from the fast food...it's hard when you love it and it's EVERY where these days. You ought to be proud of yourself.
Toni...staying the same is good too woman. Next week you'll probably have a bigger loss.
Off to eat before I starve...okay I won't starve but tell my tummy that. :)
Love,
Crystle

Tranquil 01-15-2003, 01:12 PM Hi Again, just got back from lunch - went to The Loop and had a Greek Salad - it was huge! Now I am drinking a Skinny Cafe Latte from Starbucks, courtesy Deb/Eli (THANK YOU!!), and back at the office - it is gorgeous outside - on the nippy side in the shade, warm in the sun!
Mae Mae - Great that you have this board to keep up with - will help you keep your mind off the divorce problems, help you feel you belong to a safe haven...!!! Blue Bunny is my favorite too - the fat free/no sugar added ice cream is what I love!!!
Trish - Glad you made it home okay and had a good time in Orlando/Miami! Sorry about the pound, just a bit of water from the car ride and plane ride and will be off tomorrow :)
Country - I need to shiver more if it burns calories ;) CONGRATS on the loss - that is terrific!!!!!
Take care everyone!
Sabrina
Quivondra 01-15-2003, 01:21 PM On my home scale, I’m at about 148-149. Feeling a bit thinner than I was a few weeks ago..that’s for sure! Anyway, I probably lost a pound since last week. My arch nemesis
Is coming to visit in march so I want to lose 8 pounds by then. She hasn’t lost the baby
Weight yet and I want to be (to quote the show Absolutely Fabulous) “THIN AND GORGEOUS!!!”. I know it’s totally petty…but I have reason to dislike her and even more reason to show her up since I’m 3 years her senior. Whatever motivates right?
Saw some of that movie “Hunger Point” on Lifetime…sometimes I really have to pat myself on the back. My mom was always hassling me about my weight when I was younger…and the fact that I’m only a fluctuator (as opposed to having a serious disorder) makes me pretty lucky.
CountryMom- Congrats on the loss… you are getting so close to your goal!
Trish- Don’t worry, I’m sure you’ll go back down. Throw in an extra 30 minute walk and you’ll be back on track. Sorry I couldn’t make it to Orlando…These people actually expect me to work once and a while too..the nerve!
Fillise- Congrats on the 4 pounds! I wish I could lose that much in a week!
Toni- Hang in there..I’m sure the water weight will drop by next WIW.
Music – 3lbs..!!! Congrats!!
Jackie- Glad to hear you’re back on track…I’m almost back to my normal weight.. although my alltime low was in November..I think I was 144 or so. It’s amazing what a difference those last few pounds make!!
Gotta get back to the daily grind!!
Mom2Marsh 01-15-2003, 01:25 PM OMG!!!!!:dizzy: It's WIW already!!!!
I haven't even finished reading the posts. I just paniced when I realized that it was indeed Wednesday! I'm off to hit the scale.
Sorry if I'm a bit flighty lately. I just took over scheduling of the church property at work and it's a BEAR!!! I'm normally a quick learner, but this one's slowed me down more than just a little!
Be back with the low down from the scale today!
--Kat
Morning all! WIW
Well........I lost 6 pounds this week :cb:  :cb: I am over the moon and even more motivated now!!!
I haven't been able to really exercise this week so imagine what I might have acheived. Once school holidays are finished I plan to put some walking into my day and I'll take the girls in the doulble pram! I'm going to scout around and look for a couple of walking buddies!
Apologies for not replying to individuals but there are sooo many of you it's a bit hard for a newbie to keep track. Anyway well done to all those who lost and to those who haven't .. last week is now history lets get on with the present and do something different to do it better this week!
Really pleased raw carrots ok now Yumyum I think they're best raw anyway and looking forward to the odd banana.
MaeMae- My sister has just split with her husband and has 3 kids with her. She's in the throws of getting her stuff and sorting out where to live and all those horrible legal bits so can relate to you. Just take each day at a time and it will get better. Time and distance are wonderful healers.
Hope everyone has a good day!
Anna
Solly 01-15-2003, 02:58 PM Good afternoon gals,
We are seeing some big losses today. That is wonderful. This is such a great WOE. Congrats to all the losers and for those staying the same and not losing. It can be your week next week. Keep on track and you will have a great big loss. I promise.
Music, WTG on the 3 lbs. Good for you. Good luck on your competitions.
Toni, Staying the same is good sometimes too. Especially when TOM is here. I had one last week and another this week. Lucky me. I hope you get a good report from the heart doctor. He will be pleased with all your exercising. Hope the snow doesn't get you.
Miata, if you are busy quilting today, you shouldn't have time to be thinking about food. Keep occupied. When you finish cleaning your kitchen, you can come clean mine.
Fillise, Four pounds is just awesome. I am doing the  for you.
Tranquil, I didn't even know you ahd fireplaces in Fla. Yeah for you losinhg another pound. You can do it. You will be back to where you were in no time.
MaeMae, yes carrots are legal in moderation. I think the yogurt actually has banana something in it. I wouldn't eat it. IMHO. Sorry you are going through a bad time. YHou can vent here any time. We tend to lend support for all kinds of things other than wt loss. I'm sure those things your ex said are not true. Yuo seem like such alovely person. You can prove you can do this.
Trish, I can't believe Deb didn't bring her whip along to keep you all in line. This week won't count for you Fla gals. But next week we eaxpect to see a loss.
Country, WooHoo for you. 3 lbs is great. I'm glad you are losing again. I think our bodies just needed those few indiscretions to help boost it along. I haven't cut out my breads, I can't do that. I try to stay at 2.
Quiv, sounds like you have some mean motivation going for you. That should do it and those 8 lbs will be gone by then.
ACW, 6 pounds is awesome. You are the big loser so far today. You get to be :queen: for the week. Isn't this WOE great??
Now they are calling for 6" of snow tomorrow. SUre hope I get snowed in. (fat chance). I'm moving to Fla. Someone make room for me.
Jackie

Mom2Marsh 01-15-2003, 03:42 PM Well, I'm down one pound. I'm going for "slow and steady wins the race" as my motto! Speaking of Deb and whips, someone needs to get one going on her! Where's that Florida update post we were all promised?

Debelli 01-15-2003, 03:52 PM Hey Everyone:wave:
I don't think I've recovered from the fun, I'm so pooped!
I just can't begin to describe what a good time I had with everyone. Not only that, words just don't seem to be adequate to explain what it meant to me to be able to see "old friends" and have the opportunity to meet new ones. I know you've heard tidbits about this time we had together and I hope you'll let me elaborate on some and add as well. Should I repeat something you've already heard about, well, oh heck, just read it again to refresh your memory;)
Arriving at the airport on Thursday to pick up the "3 Musketeers" was easy! TRISH & MELF arrived together after changing planes in Atlanta and meeting up there, and arriving 5 minutes earlier. ROSE must have somehow heard they were about to arrive and must have bribed the pilot to go faster so not to miss out a single second because she arrived about 20 minutes earlier than expected and within a minute of TRISH & MELF, calling me from the next terminal over saying she was in already! Meeting TRISH & MELF, well, it's just like we hadn't seen each other in months, not our first meeting together! We tossed their luggage in the car and walked over to meet and get ROSE and had our "reunion."
Off to OLE OLE (did you think there'd be another place???). We all got the same thing, the COBB SALAD with their delicious dressing (y'all who have been down here know what I'm talking about, along with the salsa). Of course, we just HAD to take pictures while there to preserve this moment together. Off to what I call the bra store, good prices if you need them. Looked around there a bit before we went to WHOLE FOODS and a tour of the store and some of my favorite items. THEN off to the other HFS where we picked up a case of agave for ROSE and some 85% Lindt Choc. bars for TRISH, among some other little goodies. Then to Carbolite for a frozen treat. We headed on home where the kids were waiting to meet the newest DD arrivals. A tour of the mess was surely exciting, esp. MICHAEL'S lovely bedroom (they will tell you, I don't lie!) ELI finally got home and met the gals before we headed off to have dinner at RIO CRYSTAL (Cuban food), a place that I think SERENE just dreams about, well, at least their flan. We shared plates of food and STILL had to take some home. MELF was so funny, you didn't hear a peep out of her as she savored each and every bite-there is no doubt that when MELF is enjoying food, you'll know it! But I think we ALL enjoyed the meal and the sharing of the flan, which I must say, ROSE did NOT participate in eating (she was not easily as swayed as the rest of us). We weren't done after that, oh no:nono: we were off to ELI'S STARBUCKS for a nightcap. THEN, we finally headed home, but surely, not to sleep, though MELF, upon hitting the bed was almost out like a light. We got a few zzzzzzz's before getting up early the next morning.
Up, bright and early to prepare for our trip up to Orlando to meet the others. I was up first and I think I woke everyone up with the whirling of the food processor as I was making the hummus. Popped the quiche in to the oven and got things prepared to take with us. I took the longest, I just had too much crap to get together, so we got a later start than I had anticipated, but not too late that we'd be very late. The car was packed to the hilt - no one was traveling lightly, that's for sure. We made it just as everyone else had gotten there and right before BIGK arrived, so all within a matter of minutes of each other. Everyone looked great and hugs were passed all around.
SOL & MEISTER'S house is just adorable, it was meant to be that they got that place, and VIXEN, the little princess, the apple of her parent's eye, if so adorable, such a good fur-daughter she is! Everything was wonderful and we ate a delicious SB LEGAL meal! During the afternoon we played a bunch of games. I know the gals were kept on their toes, esp. with the one clothespin game - it got hairy with that one!:yikes: We talked up a storm!!!! After we left SOLS house we went to the hotel and continued with the fun. We took a break along the way and headed over to CARRABAS for dinner, totally yummy! Then, it was back to the hotel where we played some more games and had our LADIES OF THE EVENING WEAR LINGERIE FASHION SHOW! What a hoot! Boy, let me tell you, these gals will do anything as long as fun is included. Not a single one didn't participate, even VESNA'S new roomate joined in! MELF definitely was the sexiest! SERENE was the most outrageous (donning the wig got her this vote) and I think TRISH was the funniest, wearing jammies that she wore when she was 60lbs heavier that she had pulled up above her boobs! THANKS EVERYONE FOR BEING GOOD SPORTS!!!! I did have one more game, but it was late and we opted to try the next night to play it, but I had to tell the gals the story behind this game, as I was sooo proud! I found a board game on line called FAT CHANCE and the idea is to lose 20lbs. We didn't get to play it at all, so next time, we'll be playing it for sure! I don't remember what time we got to bed that night, not too late though, but after midnight!
Next morning, we were up and down to breakfast around 9am and was joined by SOL & VINCE. The hotel we were at has a great breakfast buffet that we all enjoyed and was included in the hotel price. After we stuffed ourselves we headed over to the EXPO so I could get my race packet and see some of the vendors they had there. It was at the CORRONADO SPRINGS RESORT. After that we went over to WINTER PARK for the pontoon boat ride. This time is was TRISH & SOL that got a sushing at, though they tried to blame their talking on ME! It was colder than we expected on the water, but still a nice time out on the boat. Afterwards it was a stroll down the streets of WP for some shopping in some of the quant stores they have down there. Then, more food, so off to OUTBACK we headed and a few of us hit the WHOLE FOODS while waiting for our table to come up. Back to the hotel from there. I didn't fall asleep til 12:30am and then up again at 3:15am, thanks to MELF:D
RACE DAY Got my butt in the shower in hopes that it would help me wake up a little bit better. I went over to the race site by myself as there was no reason for the others to have to go that early. I got there and went and checked in my jacket and then stood and struck up a conversation with some other people. Then we all started walking to the corral areas, where we wait til the race starts. It was cold, but thankfully, not as cold as they said it would be and even more thankful, not windy-the thing I hate the most! After the National Anthem and the intro by Mickey and Minne Mouse and a few flares going off, the race was started. I thought I'd be walking at the beginning, but as everyone started to move and head towards the actual START gate (we sure can't all fit at once), I started a slow jog. I got to see the gals (and VINCE) at the beginning, the 4 mile mark, the 9 mile mark and the finish line. About mile number 2 I could feel my left foot burning and realized my sock was bunched up underneath the ball of my foot and I was getting a blister. I didn't want to stop, so I ran in pain the whole way. Not until mile number 10 did my legs start to hurt. I jogged and walked, but more walking than jogging, definitely didn't jog uphill, that's for sure. I knew I would finish and figured I'd probably come in at a bit over 3hours. At mile #12 I didn't look at my time on the clock and totally forgot what it was at miles 11 and less, so I wasn't sure as I came up to the finish line what my time was going to be. As I rounded the corner, the official clock was at 2:51 and I just about died! I couldn't believe that I was under 3 hours, and ran under the clock to finish in the official time of 2:51:41, but my actual running time is 2:49:41, exactly 2 minutes less, which gave me right under a 13 minute mile:D I got my DONALD DUCK METAL and then headed out to meet the gals. I was so happy to see them and to know they were there at the finish line sharing such a big moment of my life with me. I never in my life thought I'd be able to do anything like this-NEVER! But boy, did my legs hurt! I know there are 4 things I will do different for next time:
1. Stop and fix my sock if I find this happens again
2. Take some chapstick!
3. Have slippers waiting at the finish line
4. Have a really warm blanket to wrap around me at the end
Afterwards we headed back to the hotel. Luckily we had a late checkout and was able to pack up after the race. We headed to lunch. We thought we'd be able to go to Italianni's, one of my fav. places, and was so sad to see they were closed forever!:( We headed over to CAFE TUTU TANGO and had a really delicious lunch before having to say good-bye to VINCE & SONYA as we headed back to Miami. It was funny when we stopped at the toll plaza to make a pit stop and get some much-needed coffee. You could tell all who had been in the marathon, we were all walking funny! I passed a woman in her 80's in the bathroom and I think I was walking exactly like here! Then we got stuck in major traffic on the way home, sitting on the turnpike for about 2 hours due to a big accident. Honestly, the time just flew, between us talking among ourselves and calling people on the phone, we didn't feel the time.
Of course, we just had to go have dinner, so on the way home, we stopped at SHORTY'S BBQ, it was delish! Then to home and to unpack the car. The gals started packing up their stuff for their trip home the next day as we had plans on leaving and spending the day out and about before they had to get to the airport.
Monday morning, I was achey but ready to go for another day out. We hit 2 HFS and then hit DAILY BREAD, the ME market where we split falafel sandwiches, among some other delicious tidbits, went for a drive to a pretty area of Miami, drove through COCONUT GROVE and then over to MIAMI BEACH. OCEAN DRIVE (along the water) was backed up, looked like they were doing some filming or photo shoot, so we went down COLLINS AVENUE til we got to LINCOLN ROAD. Haven't been there in years, now lots of interesting shops and outdoor restaurants. Strolled down there before we had to go, as we had a pitstop at one other HFS to pick up some of the AUNT GUSSIES' COOKIES. Then it was off to the airport and to say goodbye
I didn't want them to leave! It was too short of a time together. I can't wait til they come back!!!!
There's so much more to tell, little tidbits of stuff that didn't seem to fit in other places, but that will have to wait til the next post as the kids are doing their mid-term exams and truly need the computer.
Please forgive me for not addressing everyone individually at this time, there's just no way for me to get caught up. I'm hoping things will get back to normal come tomorrow. I'm hoping to pick up where I've left off tomorrow morning.
Missed you all terribly!!!
Most of all THANKS FOR ALL OF THE CONGRATS!!!!!!! Even though I was running alone, you were ALL on my mind and I ran for TEAM SUGAR BUSTERS!!!!
{{{HUGS}}}:hugs:
Debbie
heartmom 01-15-2003, 04:09 PM WIW- still the same as the past 2 days-211. But at least the holiday pounds are GONE! I tried Denise Austin again today- did the aerobics alright, but couldn't hang with her on her ab moves-I was like-Denise, I'll try that when I'm 20 pounds less, lol. But I did manage to get all sweaty and breathing hard, so I guess I did some good.
Quivondra- I think I can relate- I have a friend who weighs about 25 pounds more than me and she is ALWAYS trying to tell me that she wears a size less than me-we are the same height, and both have large frames. My hips and thighs might be a little bigger than hers, but her gut is HUGE! I get mad at her always bringing up the weight issue and it just seems like she's trying to compare herself to me-quite sick of it. This week she has been telling me how she's lost 6 pounds, but she's only eating 1 meal a day- I have talked to her about SB several times, and she doesn't get it. I told her she can't only eat 1 meal a day for the rest of her life- she replies by telling me she just doesn't have much of an appetite lately-whatever.
Solly 01-15-2003, 04:31 PM Deb, thanks for much for the details of the weekend. I almost felt like I was there. I was so proud of you while reading the report of the race, I had tears in my eyes. Don't forget we want to see pics as soon as you get time. We missed you too.
Heartmom, Good for you doing the tape again. Don't talk to your friend about SB. People who don't want to, won't listen. Just show here how great it works by losing.
amazahn 01-15-2003, 04:46 PM Hello everyone. Well so far I have lost 5 lbs on sugar busters. I started new years day so I guess that is ok. It doesn't seem like much now that I am two weeks into it. I did my first walk today as well.
Serene 01-15-2003, 04:50 PM Good afternoon!
I'm so happy to report that after 2 perfect days OP, the scale is once again moving in the right direction. I weighed 220 a week ago and this morning I was 215! It feels so good to be firmly planted back in the wagon and ready to shed these pounds. I'm thankful to have only gained back 8 over the holidays. I was worried this past weekend in Orlando would add several more as I can't say it was a very legal weekend of eating for me.
Jack-k, :bravo: Great for you on being back at your all time low. I like your philosopy of everyone getting to goal this year. I enjoyed chatting with you also last night.
Gator, it was nice to chat with you too. Good luck on that big church project you have undertaken.
YellowRose, I totally agree with you - what a wonderful weekend it was. I thought the picture of you at the breakfast table with me was a good one. You are indeed a "Proper Texas Lady" at all times! You had such a pretty smile in all of your pictures. At least you looked a lot better than I did in that one. LOL You were very brave to even sit with me at the table, considering how I looked.
Deb, I enjoyed your report of our weekend. You can't imagine how much I wish I could have been at the finish line with the others. You are such an inspiration for us all. I'm still pooped from the weekend so I know you must be even more so. Get the rest you need and deserve, and we can fill in any details that might need to be added, but you did a great job.
Trishaloo - I can't imagine why you have to do any work after being off for several days. Did you remember to thank your boss for the drinks he bought us at the Outback in Orlando? I sure enjoyed the many laughs that we had together over the weekend. You have a great sense of humor and are loads of fun!
Crystle, yippee for you on the 3 lb loss!
maemae, I'm sorry to hear that you are in the divorce process. I am also, so I totally understand how you must feel. I can't wait to get to goal to prove to my ex2b that I can do it. Well, I mean I'm doing it for myself first, but that thought does linger in my mind. I'm glad you are finding how supportive the board can be. If you would ever like to email me or send a private message to vent about anything, then please do so. My email is justamuse@aol.com.
Sorry I can't finish posting to others but I have to get back to work. I will try to get back to finish tonight.
Take Care,
Wendy
Serene 01-15-2003, 04:56 PM amazahn - I just finished my post and then saw your reply. A 5 pound loss is wonderful. I think it took me a month to lose my first 5 when I started SB. You just stick with it and you will see the pounds melt away. I see you are in Orange Park. I am just accross the river in Mandarin. It is nice to have another Floridian on board, especially one in NE Florida. Maybe we can meet sometime, if you would like.
Take Care,
Wendy
Quivondra 01-15-2003, 05:07 PM Laurie- This girl was always skinnier than me..then she got pregnant and chose to eat too much. Now she's surprised that her body didn't snap back into shape. I have another friend who is obviously much larger than I am and claims to be the same size as well. At the end of the day, you're only fooling yourself!!
Toni48 01-15-2003, 05:24 PM Thought I'd stop back in and say howdy and see who else has posted. I'll be off to my cardiologist in the morning so won't get to post..
maemae- You're doing so good. Keep it up girlfriend you can do this and all that you want to. Remember YOU ARE WOMAN......and we are here for you...
Trishaloo- Glad to have you back gal. So great you had such a good time with everyone. Well next Wed. will be a good weigh in. 1 lb. is sure not bad.
CountryMom- Oh my gosh 3 lbs. are soooooooooooo great.... Good going!!!! You are now on a roll.
Tranquil- Yum a greek salad sounds just to good. And now a cup of good skinny latte. Now thats a good day..
Quivondra- Congradulations on the pound....
Mom2Marsh- Get on that scale!!! LOL Oh wow you did and good for you... Congradulations on that lb. of butter...
acw- Yippee 6 lbs. now that is down right glorious. Keep up the good work...
Jack-K- They're even putting that liquid salt on the roads now prepareing for the snow... I went and got groceries today. I'm prepared!!!!
Debilli- Wow what a post!!! I loved reading every minute of it... You made us feel as if we were there. Thank you so much...
heartmom- good for you getting that holiday weight off. I've still got 3 lbs. of mine hanging on...
amazahn- congrads on losing 5 lbs. Way to go...... Keep that walking up!
Serene- So glad you're back on track. Keep up the good work....
Fillise- Yea for 4 lbs.... Good going...
Okay guess I'm caught up. Hope I haven't missed anyone. Anyway I'm making beef burritos tonight and have to go put my leftover roast on to simmer. Have a great evening

TVthatsME 01-15-2003, 05:44 PM Hello all,
Not too chipper today as my head is aching something awful!!
Was just catching up with everyone and decided to drop a quick note while I'm here.
I must have retained some of that water because I was back up 1 lb from last week on the dreaded scale today. Phooey. I haven't been able to motivate myself to chug-a-lug today...
Gotta run.
Teresa
Fillise 01-15-2003, 06:00 PM Just got back from a marathon trip to Sam's club. The college students at church are going on a ski trip this weekend and we went to buy their food. They are all going to OD on sugar! I did ok--and found some pasta there that is made from 100% semolina (no enriched flour anywhere) so I got 5 lbs of spaghetti and 5 lbs of penne. I can put them in cannisters and keep them for a very long time.
Next week I will have to make my penne in vodka sauce!
My egg drop soup was wonderful. I opened a can of chiken broth, added some chicken seasoning, a bit of minced garlic, some pepper, and then swirled the beaten egg into it. It hit the spot!
TV--Hope you get to feeling better soon. I hear y'all might get some winter weather on Friday--I hope you keep it up there!
Toni--Hope everything goes well at the cardiologist for you!
Quivondra and Laurie--don't we all have at least one friend like that? The best revenge is losing the weight--it will be harderor them to be in denial and they will make idiots of themselves if they try to convince anyone else you are the same size!
Serene--WTG on the 5 lbs!!!!! It's so nice to get the scale moving back in te right direction!
Amazhn--5 lbs in two weeks in great! that's 2-1/2lbs per week! That's a good loss in anybody's book!
Deb--thanks for the update on the Orlando trip! It sounds like a blast and no wonder you are pooped!
Mom2marsh--Congrats--slow and steady is the best!
ACW--WTG!!!!!!
Crystle--Yeah! I love losing weeks! I'm trying to eat my starchy carbs during the day and not with dinner. Maybe that will help you to eat them and to continue to lose. I've also really upped my fruits and veggies.
It's almost 5:00 and I have another meeting tonight--I'm going to eat before the meeting so I'd better get supper started (baked Salmon and a green salad).
Have a good evening everyone!

gracious 01-15-2003, 06:22 PM TONI- I took a hand quilting course about 8-9 years ago but I didn't think it was for me either. This year I took a sewing class and just loved it. I have sewn quite a few outfits for my kids and I thought I would try machine quilting. I think it is much more fun because it goes faster..which are you trying?
MIATA- I just did a *paper quilt* for the first time. As I mentioned to TONI this is my first try at machine quilting and I love it. I had all the material left over from that first even 8 years ago so I thought I would use it up in a scrap quilt. Turned out great so far but I have to tackle sashing and boarders next and need to figure out colours first of all. I know there are all kinds of rules about light and dark but I forget!! You must be a pro at making the tops and the rest of them once you get around to it.
FILLISE- You are always so busy adding quilting onto your list might take you over the top!! Congrats on your great loss.
TRANQUIL- We'll keep trucking along together. I nearly gave into some cookies today but resisted....it was close though!!
Gotta bath the kidlettes. I am going into town tomorrow to shop for the day so I will check in at night or Friday. Have a good one.
YellowRose 01-15-2003, 06:23 PM Hello, Hello,
Here are a few more notes I have about the trip. Debbie did an excellent job of giving you the details of our
activities so I will just add thoughts.
I hope someday soon you will all get to meet these great ladies in person. These are the kind of warm and
supportive people we need in our lives. Sonya ( Solshine) is so sweet and the type of person you need to be on your
side when something needs to get done. Trish is so full of life and fun and also so together. She was especially
helpful to me in making decisions on this trip. (You know, big decisions like what to take to Orlando and what to
leave behind.) Mary is kind and sweet and every inch the care giver. She was the best room mate a person could
ask for. Solshine told you about the gift exchange. I choose a gift I saw Vesna put down. It is the most wonderful
little bowl that she had made herself. Let me tell you, that girl is talented. I am so pleased with my gift.
I sat next to GatorGal at the luncheon and that woman is so smart. We played a word game and she was writing so
fast I was afraid the page would be set on fire. Yes, she won the prize. I think Chris won most of the prizes. We
played a clothes pin game and I finally lost to her at the end. Such tension in that game.
Monet: We did miss you. Maybe we can meet when I go though Atlanta next spring on the way to NC. Our route
is I 85 and I think we come near where you live. We usually eat at Papadeaux’s on Jimmy Carter Blvd and stay at
the
NoMoreSugar: The idea about freezing the brown rice is a good one. There are times that I just do not have time
to wait the hour to fix dinner
Fillise: Are you starting your training? I believe that Solshine is going to work out a schedule for us as far as how
much mileage to add each week. Right now she has a bad ankle, but we hope she will be on the road soon. You
and I can see how we need to train to make it at least to the 2 hour mark before the sag wagon picks us up. That
sag wagon joke really made me laugh.
Tranquil: Are you feeling lots better now? I am very impressed that you are dropping the weight so fast and
staying on program.
Trishaloo: I am up two pounds and your know I stayed on program. Is there any justice out there???? I am only
saying I am up, I am not admitting that I “gained” yet. My ankles are pretty puffy.
ACW: Congrats on the 6 pounds gone!
Jack-K: Okay, next week......losses. We don’t want to get on your bad side.
Serene: Hey girl, you rock! Congrats for the pounds lost. I was very happy to sit by you at breakfast. In fact, I
wouldn’t have wanted to miss it. You are such a delight!
Melf: Where are you? Are those people making you work?
BOB: Your were on our minds a lot this weekend. I was so looking forward to meeting you. We did go to
Shorty’s in your honor, however. I even brought home some of the BBQ sauce. If you are not on the board, who
will supply us with the unusual and wonderful comics at the end of your post. Please.....don’t let up.
More thoughts, later about the ladies and guys.
No WIW for me- the pants-o-meter says I'm up- gosh how could that happen? I only ate about 4 lbs of salted nuts over the weekend instead of running. Got to get back on track somehow, but it seems no matter what I do, I'm stuck on a +or- 2 pound plateau.
I'm so far behind, I can't reply to posts. Just wanted to say HI and thanks Deb, for the week-end blow-by-blow. I really wish I could have crossed that finish line with you. Or ahead of you, since I'm the competitive type! oh, BTW, where is the bra store? Carolina (SIL) went to where she thought it was and said it was gone. She'd been there before after I told her about it, s I think whe had the right place. Do you have the address so I can give it to her?
Congratulations to all the losers this week. Sounds like everyone is doing great!

Tranquil 01-15-2003, 07:37 PM Hi All:
Had roast that was cooked with diced tomatoes, garlic and onion - boy the house smells good and I am sure there will be no vampire threats around here!
Mel - Next wiw will be a better one! 4 lbs of salted nuts, wow!!! hahaha
Yellow - I am feeling much better, I finished my meds and have been getting lots and lots of sleep...helped a lot! Now I just have a sick boy and a sick Gram...I guess that is my fault :( Oh well, I believe that a lot of my last bit of gain is water weight and the reason I am losing so quickly, from taking all that sinus medicine and drinking salty soups, etc.
Gracious - good for you not giving in to the cookies! Yes, I will keep truckin with you too!!!!
Fillise - Egg Drop sounds great - I am going to have to give it a try this weekend!!! You are doing great with the salmon and salad! Yummy!!!!
Teresa - Hope your head stops hurting!!!!
Toni - Good luck with the doctors tomorrow - he must be so thrilled with your success and all the exercise!!!
Amazahn - Howdy Neighbor!!!! I am in Avondale/Ortega, not too far from you! WTG on your weight loss!!!! Keep up the good work!
Mom2Marsh - 1 pound is a good loss! They say the slower the better!!!!!
JackK - Yes, most of the houses in my area have fireplaces and I actually have a wood burning stove with a screen to use it as a fireplace. This Friday they say the low is expected to be 27!!! I will definitely enjoy a nice fire!!!!
Got to get going, Bachelorette's on tonight - taking the place of Survivor for now....

ldblond 01-15-2003, 08:20 PM Frequently I have felt that over the past year I can't get my "you know what" together and stay on plan, I'm good for a few days, and then the "a little bit won't hurt" sneaks in, and whammy, I'm back to the beginning. At a whopping 173 this morning, I once again am trying to reevaluate and lose the weight I've put on, due to excuses (valid or not) and procrastination. I found a program on MSN that talks about how to spend 4 week evaluating and learning about yourself and maybe losing some weight also. Goal #1, I'm going to start right now with their homework and incorporate the eating cycle of SB to the best of my abilities. Thanks for always being inspiring, I searched the internet far and wide, but I always come right back to you.

"Never Give Up!"
Here's the site I used to help me figure out mileage for training. It's full of good information. Unfortunately, didn't say anything about staying out of pot-holes.

Click on the "training" link on the bottom of his home page.
Good luck to all!

I've just been reading your posts and I feel like I've just had a huge hug and pat on the back. You're:angel: 's!
I've decided the best thing about losing 6 pounds was having great people like you to share it with!!!
Thanks and hugs back
Anna
Tranquil 01-15-2003, 08:51 PM Anna, congrats on your weight loss...wow, from New Zealand!!! I just watched a movie called Price of Milk where the scenery was absolutely gorgeous - such a beautiful country!!!!! I was ready to move there myself! Keep up the good work!
Sabrina
Nomoresugar 01-15-2003, 09:34 PM I went to look at the photos last night - what a treat they were. Hopefully, more of us will join in next year!!! The scale is showing the same 2 pounds of the holiday 5 gone but I hope to move it more by the weekend.
I went to the dentist today. he wants me to see an oral surgeon before any more dental work is done - and I have been having tons of it. I had sinus surgery in May and still had pain - several xrays showed no more sinus problems. The next step was an epical (via the gums) root canal on two adjoining teeth. Still pain. One of the teeth had to be pulled a few weeks ago (not visable, thankfully) - it was cracked and lots of bone loss but still pain at the incision site. The dentist and periodontist now think that I need to see if an oral surgeon can fix the mess made by the endodontist.,.,,.,.,.
Great WIW for so many of you! I weigh daily - have always done that.
Jack-K - come on over any time! There is nothing like being retired and doing your own thing!!! I must admit that there are days when I get up early - like I did when I worked - but most of the time I go back to bed after feeding the cat!
Maemae - I believe the Blue Bunny yogurts are all okay - yes, a few have fruit in them but I still eat them -
Fellise - I read recently - I don't know where - that unripened bananas were being eating by SBers.
Tranquil - have you tried the Blue Bunny Burgundy Cherry ice cream??? OMG - It is sooooooo good. So are their cremesicles.
Quivondra - yes, I do understand. I love it <veg> when I weigh less than one of my sils. And , of course, the fact that I look younger than she does!!!
Debbie - thanks for the full and detailed info on Orlando. You made me feel like a part of it!! Gal - this Floridian is soooooo proud of you! BTW - you said you get Agave at a local HFS - could you tell me which oneand is it part of a chain??? I was in Coral Springs today and a big hfs and Whole Foods didn't have it.
Amazahn - love your kitten face! Gosh - another Floridian!!!
Toni - good luck at the cardiologist
TVthatsMe - hope your headache is better
YellowRose- thanks for more info on Orlando - you all sound so great I cannot wait to meet you.
Hi Everyone!
Sorry I have not had the chance to post before now. I did arrive home safe & sound Yesterday morning, only to unload my lugage & head out to help move dd's belongings from the storage to her new home. That was an all day affair, so no rest here. DH had to go on a trip yesterday & did not arrive home till 9pm. Spent some time with him.
Today I would have liked to rest up but my mom had a doctor's appt at 10am, so off I went with her. Got home at 3pm picked up the boys at daycare then came home & did homework with them.
I have to return to work tomorrow. I did however, download all the digital pictures I took in Orlando, then uploaded them to an online album. Some were a little blurred, but not too bad. The link is: http://groups.msn.com/SugarBusterGals/orlandomeeting2003.msnw
I did read Deb's post describing our visit & it looks like she did a great job covering it well. I want to tell you that I don't remember when I laughed more & totally enjoyed every minute of the trip, the visit with everyone, every thing was so wonderful.
I enjoyed seeing old friends, Sonya, Gail, Sabrina & Wendy & meeting the new ones, Deb, Trish, Lyn, Chris, Vesna & her friend Sonna.
Deb is so sweet & like Lyn said, she's a perfect hostess, making sure we were comfortable & wanting to accomadate us in every way. She is so in the know about all the right things we should be eating/not eating. She could write a book with her knowledge of this WOE. I learned alot from her & plan to heed her advice about many things, especailly the Atkins products. When she said she had alot of recipe books, let me tell you, she wasn't exaterating! LOL Her performance in the WDW Marathon was so inspiring that I am seriously considering signing up for next year. I plan to start walking again as soon as the weather warms up a little. Right now, it's toooo cold & getting colder. We're suppose to get a hard freeze this week end, now in the mid to lower 20's. Deb, I soooo admire you & want to thank you again for having us in your home. I will never forget your kindness.
Lyn is very sweet was also a perfect roomate. Deb did well to team us together. We really hit it off & feel that I've made a true life-long friend. Lyn, happy to hear that Ray sound the incentive to take the tree down while listening to the cd. My shoulder was hurting too from the heavy bags, but it was worth it!
Trish has a wonderful contagious laugh & so out-going. She had me laughing as soon as we met in Atlanta. She can keep a party going & going! Trish, how dare they expect you to have to work already!
Vesna was totally not what I expected from seeing her picture on the board before. She is terrific. Tall, slender, beautiful & a great personality too. She was a roit during the Lingerie Show. LOL Enjoyed meeting her roomate Sonna too.
Sabrina, glad to hear that you're feeling better. Enjoyed spending some time with you on the boat ride & also the ride back to the hotel. Glad to hear that you are back on track.
Wendy, was great to see you again also. Your parade into the dining room with that wig was too funny. It still makes me LOL when I think of the waiter's response. Even almost asking for your autograph.
Gail, was great to see you again also. DH was pleased that you had asked about him. He said to say hello. Sorry you couldn't spend more time with us, but seeing you Friday was great. Hope your plans for the week end went well. Your tomatoe tart was really tasty. Did you post the recipe or was it in the copies that we exchanged? Will have to check.
Chris, was great to meet you & get to know you. I have my Yankee candle unpacked & set up in my bathroom with the shade I found for it. DH liked it too. Glad we could spend some time together. Will be thinking about you with all that is going on in your life. Good luck finding a full time job. That should not be hard for a good caring nurse like you. Just be careful about being so aware of your surroundings.
Last but certainly not least, Sonya, our hostess of the Friday Brunch. Your home is as beautiful as you are. I'm so happy for you & Vince finding such a lovely home. Thanks for providing the warm jacket during those cold hours Sat & Sun. I will be better prepared next year! Check out your pic that I got when we were leaving the boat landing! ;) http://groups.msn.com/SugarBusterGals/orlandomeeting2003.msnw?action=ShowPhoto&PhotoID=92
Well I think that's about all I can do for tonight, as I need to get a uniform ready for the am. But I didn't want any more time to pass before at least getting a post done.
Oh, & I am not posting WIW numbers today :yikes: But know that I AM back on plan. Will have to hide my stach of chocolates. All of us that have heard Ded talk about her stach of chocolates? Listen, she showed it to us & I could not believe my eyes! But then I counted my bars that I brought home & I'm going to have to be very careful. These chocolate bars that Deb helped us find are awesome.
Deb, please take care of yourself & get plenty rest to recoup from the run & the blister. You need to be a lady of leisure for a while. You deserve it! That took alot out of you & your body needs the rest.
Got to go. Congrats to all of you losers this week. I salute you!
fruitloupe 01-15-2003, 10:16 PM Hey Ladies!
I haven't had the opportunity to read the posts about this weekend but I sure am looking forward to doing so. Sorry I've been MIA again, but as usual, I've been having some complications from my surgery. I developed a blood clot in my left boob and they had to put 2 drains in it. Oh the joys! Things are getting better but I am hoping to have the drain removed on Monday. Can you believe - I just can't have surgery without anything going wrong - need I remind all of you about the nose surgery this summer?!? Out of all of the bazillion boobs that this dr. has done it is only the 2nd one he has seen do this. Just my luck! So, I've been working and then coming home and taking it as easy as possible!
Other than that - not much else happening! I've been terrible with my eating - but I haven't gained. Hopefully I'll be able to exercise soon - that will help to motivate me to eat right. I cheat a lot less when I'm exercising for some reason! Well, I'll keep y'all posted - can't wait to read about the trip. Hope all is well - I'll be back soon!!

Evening all
Sabrina- Yes this is a beautiful country! " The price of Milk" doesn't do it justice try Lord of the rings. It is breathtaking in the mountains and there are under 4 million people so lots of wide open spaces.
We've even got Tom Cruise and Gwyneth Paltrow here making movies at the moment! A lot of them come here undercover for a visit.
Anna
Debelli 01-16-2003, 08:49 AM Good THursday Morning Everyone:wave:
I think I'm getting somewhat back to normal. I don't know why I'm so tired, you'd think the way I've been sleeping since Tuesday that I'd of had enough sleep for weeks. Each morning after taking the kids to school I've climbed back in to bed and slept, and still, I wanted more sleep! Last night I went to sleep around 9:30pm. I had such terrible night sweats, something that hasn't happened in a really long time and something that definitely annoys me. Came back from taking the kids and wanted to climb in to bed but decided the board was more important!!
My eating was just awful, before the get together and all during. Sorry to say, I was NOT a good influence and the DD wasn't properly used. YELLOWROSE, I must say, wasn't easily swayed by some of the stuff the rest of us was eating. I should of handed her temporary DD MISTRESS honors. I think, for me, as I've mentioned in the past, when a monkey wrench is thrown in to my life I still eat emotionally and with my Aunt dying and then actually dying, the race and the get together there were things going on that were not the norm in my life and I took the junk food comfort trail-not a good idea! BUT, I'm now back on track, no more excuses to lean on.
I'm still thinking about our weekend and seeing everyone! Even though it was the first time meeting MELF, TRISH & ROSE, the way we got along from minute 1 was like we'd been friends forever and just lived in different parts of the US and we were getting together after a short time apart. MELF is just so sweet and you know that the nursing profession is so lucky to have her in it, as we are to have her here on the board. She is so caring and has the biggest heart, you know there's nothing she won't do to help a friend (and a stranger) in need! ROSE was a lot of fun! Between the $6 jar of green beans to the sesame oil, to her lightly packed luggage, among so many other things, she had us laughing all weekend long. I honestly didn't know what to expect of how she was going to be once she arrived but boy, the weekend would of NEVER been the same without her-esp. the clothespin game! She was a hoot! She's definitely a lot of fun!!! TRISH, I knew TRISH was going to be outgoing from having many conversations with her over the phone, but how outgoing, I could never of guessed! She is a load of fun and once again, provided all of us with lots of laughter and fun - esp. during the lingerie show! SOL & TRISH remind me a lot of each other with their vivacious laughs and sunny dispositions! Seeing SOLSHINE was wonderful, and when I saw her I realized just how much I had missed her. It's been almost a year since we saw her last and it's just too long since we live only about 4 hours apart. I'm hoping her and VINCE will come for a visit one day soon! SHE is the PERFECT hostess!!!!!! Everything was excellent and once again I appreciate her opening up her home to all of us. I was so happy to see BIGK again as well. I know she had a good time and I wished she could of stayed the last day, I'm greedy, what can I saw. I wanted to spend as much time with everyone as I could, but I'm glad for the time I got to see her! JEFF, for those who have met him, has gotten bigger, if you can imagine. SARAH just get's cuter each time, not to mention taller - and who couldn't wait to show MISS DEBBIE how much taller she was! GATOR was only able to make the lunch and of course brought a delicious gourmet dish-would you expect anything less from her? She was our first winner of our first game, and a winner of another. Boy, that one is sly as a fox! Even though TRANQUIL had been sick, really sick, she made the trip over as not to miss this wonderful event. Unfortunately she got worse, after the boat ride and her and SERENE left early Sunday morning. I felt terrible, that she got more sick. SERENE was too funny, between sitting at SOL'S house with a pillow between her legs so she wouldn't cross them (for the game), to the trailer trash wig she sported during the lingerie show AND in to the restaurant for breakfast the next morning, she def. provided some laughs all along the way. VESNA joined us for dinner on Friday evening and OMG, she looks WONDERFUL! She has lost more weight since I saw her and says she wants to lose 10 more pounds, but I think she'll look anorexic if she does, and from where she would lose, I don't know. She looked STUNNING! And my gosh, when she spoke to me, she had to look down - she's so tall! She brought her new roommate SENNA and she too joined in the fun.
I'm sure I've left some vital stuff out, you know, when you get my age....;) Just being with everyone was awesome and I really look forward to meeting more of you in the future. I know I will meet new people, as well as see old members. Some I know it won't be possible to meet, but that's what phones are for. PLEASE KNOW THAT I TALK TO A LOT OF PEOPLE ON THIS BOARD THAT I'VE NEVER MET, SHOULD YOU EVER WANT TO CHAT, JUST E-MAIL ME YOUR TELEPHONE NUMBER. I HAVE FREE NIGHTS AND WEEKENDS AND WOULD LOVE TO TALK WITH YOU ONCE IN A WHILE!!!
THANKS TO MELF FOR POSTING ALL THOSE PICTURES!!!! If you haven't seen the pictures she's posted from the get together please take a gander. For those of you who were with us, show your family and friends all your SB pals - for those of you who weren't with us, do the same so when you tell them you're coming next year they'll know we're for real and know that you'll have a great time!!!!!
Here's the link to the pictures she posted, just in case you didn't see it before:
http://groups.msn.com/SugarBusterGals/orlandomeeting2003.msnw
I'm going to try and get a few replies in here before the day is gone. Michael and Lauren have an early release day today so I don't have much time to do much of anything before I have to go get them.
MELF, LOL! I loved seeing the pictures, and I really laughed at some of the captions!!! Esp. the one with ROSE and the oil!!! Can't say I was fond of one of the close ups of me though, looks like I was smiling so hard that my face was going to break! LOVED the picture of the 3 Musketeers! The pic of SOLSHINE with the flowers next to her is wonderful, it shows her very sunny disposition! They are all great and I thank you for taking the time to get them up on the board. Funny though, I don't see any from our lingerie show:shrug: Thank you once again for the Mardi Gras basket, the CD your brother made, which, like I said, even though I can't understand the words, I think the music is quite cool, and for the book! As you saw, I love to collect books with SB LEGAL RECIPES and the one you gave me is wonderful. I haven't been able to look through the whole thing, but the recipes I have looked at sound great. Which have you made from there so far? I can see posting some of them on the recipe board in the near future. But most of all, I want to thank you for coming down and being a part of this weekend, it meant a lot to me to have you hear, and to finally be able to meet you!
ROSE, sounds like RAY was quite happy with all the goodies you brought home for him. I take it he's ready to come to Florida? Has the avocados riped up yet? You should of taken the last one on the table, it ended up being thrown away! Thank you once again for everything, esp. for the pears from Harry and Davids. I swear, you had me going there for a good while trying to figure out who was sending me something from there. They were/are delicious and I truly appreciate you going through the trouble to have them sent as you did. I'm not use to having things like that sent to me and I just can't tell you how much such a gesture meant. I give you a lot of credit for staying OP as well as you did during your stay - you weren't easily swayed, unlike myself. I should of allowed you to hold the DD MISTRESS title over the weekend, I sure as heck wasn't keeping up with it! Thank you again for coming to join us for the weekend get together. I can't begin to tell you just how much it meant to me that you came and joined in the fun, not to mention, meeting all the wonderful gals that we have come to know and love. I can't wait to see you again, whether it be in NC or in FL, or who knows, maybe TX one day!!!!
TRISH, I just can't describe what a good time I had with you! After all the phone calls over the months, to finally be able to meet you and to see the wonderful person behind the voice, it was wonderful! You are just the kind of person I would love to live close to and hang around with. You have such a wonderful laugh and I can see how being around you can make someone happy and put them in a good mood. Tell DH you didn't make any weird noises, so he must be dreaming to say you do. Hey, don't forget to try out those ear plugs! I'm gonna just have to come to Austin one day, you should be on the board of tourism, you make it sound like a great place to come visit, and besides, I can wear that great T-shirt you brought! As I told the other gals, you know, you're more than welcome to come visit at any time, before, after or instead of a cruise!!!!
NMS, I'm surprised you weren't able to find the agave at WHOLE FOODS in Coral Springs, they have it in the Ft. Lauderdale store. I get it at a place called NUTRITIONSMART. It's $4.39 a bottle and if you buy a case they give you 10% off. There's one up in Palm Beach Gardens on Northlake Blvd. Their # is 1-561-694-0644. If they don't carry it, or know about it, tell them to call JOHNNY at the Pembroke Pines store - he's the one who orders it for me. If you go, check out the AUNT GUSSIES cookies, esp. the spelt choc. chip biscotti's, among other things:)
MEL, I wished you could of been with us and I know you would of had a great time, fun wise and marathon wise. There's always next year and I'm planning on doing it again, so I hope you too will be able to come and run with whoever does it next year. The bra store moved a bit east, right on Broward Blvd. Tell your SIL that it's in the 2nd shopping center after she crosses over Broward and University, going east. There's a PUBLIX and a STARBUCKS in the center. The store is 2 doors over from the left of Publix. If she wants to look it up in the phone book it's called ATLANTIC HOSIERY. Please tell me you didn't send out the stuff to me. You said you were going to, but if you did, I didn't get it. Please LMK.
Seems we had a lot of great losses this week! CONGRATS TO YOU ALL! I am NOT participating for at least a week. I did get on the scale the other day and was up to 131, not a pretty picture but then again, if you all knew what I had eaten you'd think it would of been 141, which, if I hadn't stopped, would of been sooner than I'd of thought. I'm back on track and happy to be so!
ELI is still in Seattle and being wined and dined and pampered by Starbucks. Tomorrow night is a big dinner where they are handing out awards. Hoping he comes home with something big, he certainly deserves it. He won't be home til sometime Saturday and then plans on going in to work on Sunday. Not sure where I'll fit in:shrug:
Well, I'm going to go. Once again, sorry I can't respond to everyone today. I'm hoping that I can pick up after this post and start posting as normal. This week and next, both kids have mid-terms and are hogging the computer but I'm going to try and get on here as much as I can during the day.
Have a great day!!!

Debelli 01-16-2003, 08:54 AM This was intended to be my TUESDAY TIPS, sorry for it being a bit delayed:
There's No Such Thing as Cheating
By Chad Tackett, President of Global Health and Fitness
There's no right or wrong way to eat. Healthy eating is all about motivation, balance, and flexibility. There will be times when you eat a high-fat meal or eat beyond fullness, or when your schedule gets so busy that you miss a work- out. This happens. It's normal. But it's very important that you don't get down on yourself and abandon your new healthy lifestyle when this happens.
If you're like most people, your reaction to these diet/ fitness obstacles is guilt. You feel as if all your hard work has been for nothing. "I blew it; I was doing so well. Oh well, I might as well enjoy this weekend and start over on Monday." Or even worse: "I just don't have the motivation or will power to start over and be successful. I quit." Feeling defeated, many people discontinue the healthy living and return to their old routine until some mythical time in the future: "Maybe this spring will be a better time to start over again." This kind of scenario is a perfect example of the diet mentality at work.
An all-or-nothing attitude is why so many people have so little success; we choose structured programs because they relieve us from making choices for ourselves. A properly designed program makes sense, but expecting to stick to a structured eating and exercise plan for an extended period of time without ever deviating makes no sense at all. In fact, this is so unrealistic as to be a set-up for failure. If you begin to change your habits with the assumption that any deviation from your plan will ruin it, you might as well not even begin. Life is full of unplanned obstacles, distractions, and temptations. Your best approach is to prepare for them, keeping an open mind and maintaining a positive attitude.
It's very important that you begin your healthier lifestyle with an understanding that there will be days when you will stray from healthy eating and exercising. Before you begin, tell yourself that no matter what happens, rather than abandoning your new lifestyle, you'll resume your healthy habits as soon as you can; it is equally important that you feel confident, not guilty, about doing so. What- ever the temptation or obstacle is, keep in mind that it's not wrong or bad to eat fattening foods once in a while or to miss a workout. Just remember to resume your healthy lifestyle. If you keep moving forward and you don't let guilt and discouragement stop your program all together, you'll eventually have improved eating and exercise habits.
With this approach, there is no such thing as cheating. When we feel we are cheating, we often punish ourselves; we make ourselves feel guilty, frustrated and defeated. Replacing the negative concept of "cheating" with the idea of "straying from healthy habits" takes away the all-or- nothing emphasis on right and wrong. If you treat every deviation from your plan as a failure, you won't get very far
Substituting the idea of a brief straying away from your plan instead of feeling guilty, and learning to return more and more quickly to healthier habits, is more realistic. It's also easier and more enjoyable.
In the non-diet approach, all foods are legal. There are no "good" foods or "bad" foods. You must believe this. Sudden changes and/or drastic restrictions of high-fat foods when you have a preference or craving for fat will result in feelings of deprivation. No one can or should go through life depriving themselves of foods they really enjoy. You must learn how to make gradual healthy changes to the foods you love while experimenting with and learning to appreciate new flavors and textures.
A recent survey showed that more than 75 percent of people feel guilty about eating so-called "bad" foods. The greatest obstacle to adopting healthy eating habits is guilt. Attaching a value to foods only makes you feel bad for eating them. When you do decide to eat a high-fat food, enjoy it. Don't beat your- self up over it. Just make a special effort to eat low-fat the rest of the day. Remember, there is nothing wrong with splurging now and then. It can even be good for you if the satisfaction of a higher-fat meal that you've been craving helps you stick with a low-fat lifestyle the rest of the time.
If you're having a special diet meal that's different from what the rest of your family or friends are eating, you'll feel as though you're being punished. In order to be successful in changing your eating habits, you must look forward to and enjoy each meal you eat. This doesn't mean that you have to learn to like rice cakes and celery. It means you must learn how to make simple changes in the foods you love.
Perhaps one of your favorite meals is fried chicken, a baked potato, and salad. Small changes in how the food is prepared can turn this traditionally high-fat meal into a low-fat well- balanced one. Simply marinating a skinless chicken breast in sweet and sour sauce, rolling it in bread crumbs, and baking it makes the chicken a lot less fattening than if it's fried. Instead of butter or regular sour cream on your potato, try low-fat or nonfat sour cream or a reduced fat ranch dressing. Try using a non-fat or low-fat salad dressing rather than a regular dressing and adding as many vegetables to your salad as possible for their additional flavor, texture and nutrients. Any or all of these changes drastically reduce the amount of fat in the meal without sacrificing flavor or feelings of satisfaction.
Healthy eating patterns can only occur when you're enjoying all the foods you eat. If you're eating low-fat foods just to be healthy but without enjoying the flavors and textures or how they make you feel, this most likely won't be a permanent change. However, if you begin enjoying healthy foods, you're far more likely to stick with healthy eating for life.
Many people also enjoy eating out but associate this with being "bad" or eating "illegal" foods. Fortunately, it is very possible to eat a healthy, low-fat meal in a restaurant. You don't need to forego your favorite foods or eat before you go out with friends or family. The same decision-making process occurs whether you eat at home or go out to a restaurant. Many people think that they have two options when eating: eating for taste and pleasure or eating for health. As you learn and practice healthy eating techniques, these two options will become one and the same. Good luck and enjoy all the wonderful benefits of a healthy, active lifestyle.

Solly 01-16-2003, 09:16 AM Good Thursday Morning
I hope everyone is chipper today. It is so cold here you can't be anything but chipper or you freeze to death. The high for the next week will only be 25. We are expecting 5" of snow today and more over the weekend.
Well I've been reading posts for over an hour and need to get my work started before the boss catches me.
Amazahn, 5 pounds is great. Now thatyou have started walking, I bet you will lose better.
Serene, Happy for you losing those 5 pounds. Glad you are recommitted. What do yu mean it wasn't a legal weekend? With the DD there and all those SB gals? Just kidding. We expect big things from you gals next week though.
Toni, Did you make it to the Dr today or are you snowed in. We are expecting 5" by this afternnon. Yuk.
Quiv, Are you snowed in? I heard around Syracuse they got 36". Now if we have to get it, that's what I want.
TV, hope your headache is better. Don't worry about that pound. I bet it's gone today. Keep drinking.
Fillise, Don't yu just love Sam's. I could spend hours in there, ususally do. Penne in vodka? Share please.
Gracious, good for you resisting those cookies. Have fun shopping.
Yellow, I love the "I'm up" and "not gained". Good thinking. Most likely it is water wt and not a true gain. It wll be gone soon. Remember, next week, a big loss or you are in big trouble.
Mel, With 4 lbs of salted nuts that is probably a lot of water retention. You are so buff that it will be hard for you to lose big.
Tranquil, you say yur low willbe 27. OUr high for the next week is only going to be 25. Can I come stay with you until April? I'm sure once you get over all that yuk, you will start losing again. Keep your chin up. Sorry your DS and Gram are sick now.
IDblond, I hope you find soemthing that works for you. Only you can do this. Remember we are always here for you. Let us know how you are doing.
ACW, that's why we are here, to make each other feel good whether we have gained or lost. We are here to pat each other on the back and pick each other up when needed. We're glad you have joined us. Keep up the good work.
Nomoresugar. Those 2 holiday pounds will be gone soon. Bummer on all the dentistry work. I hate going to the dentist. I feel for you. Unfortunately, I don't think I'll ever get to retire (unless I win the lottery). But I sure enjoy visiting Fla.
Melf, Boy you haven't had a minute to stop and rest from the trip and now you are back to work. I thoroughly enjoyed your post with the recap of the trip. Gosh we missed out on so much. I'm off to check out the pics.
Fruit, I'm sorry you are having so much troulbe with your boobs. That just sounded funny. Hope you feel better soon.
Deb, Thanks for the contuation of the details of the weekend. I feel like I am actually meeting these people from your descriptions. Rest up, you truly deserve it. BTW, what is some of this advice you seemed to share with these girls. Please share your wisdom with us too. Loved the cheating article. So true. I think alot of us are starting to figure this out.
Have a great day. Be back later.

GatorGal 01-16-2003, 10:21 AM Nice to see all the details posted about the weekend in Orlando. Next year maybe the group can be larger. No more sprained ankles, Mel.
Melf, the pix were great. Yes, the roasted tomato cheese tart was one of the recipes I handed out at Sonya's, along with the one for SB pancakes.
Monet--I went to my dr's office today and got a copy of my latest lab report. The TSH numbers look pretty good to me: 1.135. That is certainly within the new good ranges. The reference ranges that give on the report are between .350--5.500.
However, I don't know anything about T4. My result was 10.7 and the reference range is 4-5 - 12.0. So I fall within the range. It doesn't have any information or report about T3.
So, what do you think?
I'll be getting out to do my daily 3 miles. It is lovely and sunny, although cool here. Yesterday I walked 55 minutes. A neighbor down the street has a bad dog and she let him out unattended and he ran after me. He's afraid of people, and often dogs bite out of fear. So, after I got past the dog, I flagged down someone driving out of our neighborhood and asked them if they could drive me back to my house, where I called the neighbor and asked her to take her dog in. She said, "Oh, I'm so sorry. He must have gotten out." What a hoot! She has no children, and she must think that I believe that her dog is capable of sneaking out of some locked room where she has him confined, and stealthily opening the back door to the house with his big ole paws and running out unnoticed. She told me that they are having a fence installed today and I said, "Thank goodness!" Anyway, I did finish my walk, but I went yesterday afternoon and bought a pepper spray "gun" for protection against biter dogs and other vermin.
Well, I'm gonna go hit the street, so take care everyone and have a great day.
Trishaloo 01-16-2003, 10:50 AM Good morning everybody,
It is soooo windy here today. It's supposed to be really cold tonight and tomorrow night. I've got the fixin's for a big pot of taco soup for dinner tonight to keep us warm.
Well, looks like I spoke too soon about only being up a pound from the week-end. This morning I'm "up" another 2 for a total of 3. What a disaster. I should have known that it my indiscretions always show up a couple of days, though. If that wasn't a wake-up call, I don't know what is.
Crystle, congrats on the loss. We really need to have a Texas girls get-together.
Sabrina - It was great to finally meet you. Glad to hear you're feeling better. That roast sounds really yummy.
Quiv - I know exactly what you mean about those nasty people that are so self-righteous and have absolutely no reason to be. You know the truth (and so do they).
ACW - Way to go girl on the loss!!!!! I would love to visit New Zealand sometime. Maybe that should be the sight of our next SB get-together. What do you think girls? Now who could we get to pay for the airfare. We'll have to work on that one.
M2M - Congrats on the loss. Trust me, slow is better.
Heartmom - Good going on the exercise.
Amazahn - WTG on the loss, 5 pounds in 2 weeks is terrific! This is not a speedy crash diet type of program. I think most of us have gone that route before and know that it may work in the short-term but not for the long haul.
Wendy - Glad to see the scale moving again in the right direction. Mine moved too, just not the right way, LOL. It was so great to meet you. I really had a lot of fun.
Toni - How much snow did you guys get? From the looks of things, you were really getting it. BTW, I sent you a PM. Did you get it?
TV - Hope you're feeling better today.
Fillise - That egg drop soup does sound good.
Lyn - See the above on "being up" again today. I guess there is some justice out there after all. Did the sauce make it home alright?
Mel - How's the ankle doing. We sure missed you in Orlando, especially since I had to room with the DD mistress and she made me sleep on the floor for one night. She's such a meanie.
IDblond - Jump back on the wagon with the rest of us.
Ruth - So sorry to hear about all your dental problems. If it's not one thing it's something else.
Melf - Thanks for posting the pictures. What wonderful memories they brought back. Did all your goodies make it home? My pita chips were a little crunched up, but they were still good.
Fruit - Glad to see you back. Thought you had dropped off the face of the earth for a while. We decided that a future get-together should be in New Orleans. Think you could make that one???
Deb - Glad to see you're getting back to normal. Gee, I can't imagine why you were tired. Just because you ran 13 miles on Sunday and the rest of the time you were ginning around like a crazy person is no reason for a body to be tired. Get with it, girl!
Gator - Congrats on the good lab results and be careful out there walking.
Sonya - Where are you??????????
Well, I gotta scoot now. Sorry if I missed anyone. Have a great day everyone.
Ta-ta,
Trish
Fillise 01-16-2003, 11:08 AM Hey all! No time for a lengthy post this morning. My phone started ringing early with last minutes panics for some of the events this weekend, so I have to get busy. I'll try to get in a more lengthy post this afternoon or evening.
It was great reading more about the trip and I look forward to looking at Melf's photos when I have some more time!
For now everything is OK. Holding steady this morning. House is sticked with fruits, veggies, and protein so I'm in good shape. Do hope to try to get to the gym this afternoon--but w'ell see.
Have a good day everyone!
Susan
Quivondra 01-16-2003, 11:15 AM Difficult day for me. My co-worker is going under the knife to remove a tumor in his brain. I'm so impressed with his strength!
Doing alright today..a little tired lately. Between studying everynight after work and housework, I haven't been able to hit the gym this week. Things will get better after I take the exam.
Trish-Self-righteous is right. In college, she was ultra feminist and buddhist. Now she's 21 with a baby, followed her boyfriend to chicago and doesn't work. She loves to mention how so many movies have misogynistic undertones and in the same breath ask her boyfriend to buy her a big house. She's a spoiled girl who's never worked a day in her life. She doesn't know the meaning of misogynistic!
Jackie- No snow here...we don't get as much in NYC because we're on the coast!
Zanne 01-16-2003, 11:29 AM Ok Gang! I started this yesterday. I figured I better post it now or it will never get posted. Sorry I haven't had a chance to catch up with the boards from late yesterday to today. Sorry if I missed anyone. I tried my best to get most everyone.
Oh my GOSH! It’s taken me nearly all day to catch up. And just when I do, someone else posts and I have to add to my notes.
Well, I had some more good news for myself today. After posting my WIW and that I’m nearly down to my low, I went and did my measurements. Sure enough, all the 5 places I meaure were smaller than last week AND my weight was less than when I re-re-re-committed (gotta keep getting back on when you fall off!!!) to this WOE after the new year.
It was another cold one here today. Started out with a windchill that put the temp at 0 degrees F. YIKES! On another note, I saw 3 Robins today! I past by a window and thought I saw a red breasted bird and had to walk back to the window to make sure--and there were the 3 of them in a tree. Now we’re either gonna get a really early spring, or the birds are just crazy for not going south. With the wind, snow and cold we got today, I’m voting the birds are crazy.
Ok, here’s a rarity for me--but I’m gonna try to reply to pretty much everyone. Here goes....
FOR EVERYONE WHO’S ASKED ABOUT THE SKATING/ICE RINK--I don’t skate very well at all. I trip on the toe picks on the blades. I want to get myself some hockey skates(no picks). DS really likes playing ball hockey on our deck and (silly me) thought it might be fun to make a skating rink in the back yard and maybe get him skating a little. I got this thing called “jiffy rink” which is basically a big plastic bag you fill with water and when it freezes, you peel off the top layer of plastic. It will be 10’x20’ when I get it done. Ever since I made the perimeter wall, it’s been too windy, too snowy or just too blasted cold to be fiddling with a hose outside. The next few days look to be nice, so I hope to get this done before the weekend.
SERENE--Thanks for the great pics of the FLA get together! Looks like you all had a great time. Congrats for getting back OP and for losing 5lbs. WTG!
TV--Goats for lawn mowers sounds interesting and fun. WTG with getting in all that water and all the extra exercise that came with it.
TONI48--I’m really lucky to be getting the new appliances! New stuff is so much fun. WTG for being able to up the time you spend on the treadmill. That means your getting fitter!
MOM2MARSH--Good for you for getting right back on track after your slip ups. Doesn’t matter that you slip up as long as you come back!
ACW-Hooray for you for losing 6 lbs!!! WTG staying away from the white stuff. It’s not too difficult here in Canada to get legal stuff, but we still don’t have some of the great products our American neighbors have.
HEARTMOM--Good for you to get back on track and CONGRATS on the low! I agree with others on the gym thing. Ultimately the decision is yours. I’m just added my opinion. Even before getting married when I had time to go, I had a membership that I did NOT get my money’s worth from. What I have done instead is to borrow exercise videos from the library and if I like them, I’ll buy them. We also have some dumbbells (Walmart here sells them for a pretty good price). We have an elliptical machine that was pretty expensive, but you could probably get a new exercise bike for a good price. Or check out garage sales for exercise bikes, treadmills or other equipment. We got an exercise bike for $5.
VR--Your hot chocolate recipe sounds good. Hot chocolate would be good here on a snowy cold day like today.
JACKK--Glad you’re happy about the dinner postponement and the different menu. WTG on all the exersing you’re doing. HOORAY! for being at your low!
TRANQIL--Glad to see you back on plan and losing! Hope you had fun on the weekend even tho you didn’t feel well. Hope you’re getting better.
FILLISE--Good to see you losing! 4lbs is great! I too have a stubborn body. I’ll drop 5lbs all at once and then hover around that weight for several weeks before I drop again. It can get very frustrating. We just have to remember how our bodies work and keep reminding ourselves that the loss WILL come (easier said than done LOL)
MAEMAE--Glad you’re having fun with the kids back home. Ask any questions you want. There will be someone here that can give you an answer. Come to the board to vent--it’s better than eating something you shouldn’t.
MIATA--WTG losing 4.5! And congrats for winning the chicken. It was definately your lucky day. Glad you’re keeping away from the junk food.
BOB--we’ll miss your playful banter but we’ll be thinking of you. Stop by when you can and don’t work too hard.
YELLOWROSE--Glad you had a good time with the SB gang and that you got some nice goodies from the HFS to bring home.
GRACIOUS--Glad you’re still plugging along. I bet your quilt looks wonderful. I’ve done a few machine made quilts. It’s a lot of fun.
LINWORTH--Hand in there! The scale will go down. I’ve been where you are and eventually the scale went down. Your body is probably just adjusting.
MUSIC--Hooray for you losing 3lbs. Keep up the good work
TRISHALOO-glad you had a good time and are now back on track.
COUNTRY--YEAH for your loss!
QUIVONDRA--You’re doing well. You’re so close to your goal.
AMAZAHN--5lbs is a great loss for 2 weeks!
DEBELLI--You are a great story teller. I almost felt like I was right with the bunch of you. We are all so proud of you for doing the marathon and with such a terrific time! You are really an amazing person!
I better go now and catch up with my chores and then I might try to go out to put water in the rink!
NewportGirl 01-16-2003, 12:08 PM Hi
I neeed some recommendations for sauces to stir fry in - either store bought or home made. Thanks
Toni48 01-16-2003, 12:11 PM Good morning everyone. Couldn't make it to my doctor's app. this morning. We got about 3 inches of snow last night and its really cold. I just hated to get out on that slippery road for an hour and a half trip. So I called and put it off till next month. Made my roast burritos last night. They came out great and had them with fat free refried beans and a salad. Yummy.. Might have one for lunch today.
acw- Hope you're still floating high about your great weight loss. I love to be motivated like that...Wow it sounds beautiful where you are...
Nomoresugar- Wow you have had the medical problems lately. Sorry you're still having trouble. Hope the oral surgeon can help you...
Melf- You're making my head swim with all you're doing..... Wow you're one busy lady!!! Thanks so much for the pictures I loved looking at everyone. It all looked like so much fun.
Fruitloupe- Its so good to see you posting again. I'm so sorry you had so much trouble after your surgery. Hope it all heals up real fast....
Debilli- Loved your posts. You really spent some time making it all so entertaining. I just loved all the chit chat.
Jack-K- Well put a few more logs on the fire.... Brr.... I hate this part of winter, when the temp. dips way down... We're supposed to get a little more of the white stuff Sat.
Gatorgal- Glad you got your walk in. And its probably a good thing about the pepper spray. It would be awful to get bit. To bad you can spray the owner...
Trishloo- Wow taco soup, yummy. You must be the best cook... I didn't get your pm I'll go looking for it when I'm done posting. We got about 3 inches.... Hope thats it...
Fillise- Hope you can grab some tiny time for yourself so you don't get stressed.
Quivondra- Sorry about your co worker I hope everything goes alright..
Zanne- Congradulations on losing those inches....
Well guess its time to go... I'm tired today so missed walking on my treadmill. Will tackle it tomorrow again...

ldblond 01-16-2003, 12:29 PM I learned yesterday that trying to type all my foods in the 3FCs journal is not good for me, so this morning I started a written journal that I can keep right along with my medication log. Down 1.5lbs today, althought I won't adjust my stats until next weigh in, as I know we flucuate on a daily basis, but it helps to me to adjust what goes in my mouth. Hope you all have a great day!
Toni48 01-16-2003, 12:41 PM Idblond- Good for you on your weight loss. Bet by next week you'll have an even bigger loss... Keep up the good work....
maemae 01-16-2003, 12:43 PM Good morning all..............
Another stressfull night in " Pasa Get Down Dena"...
The daycare called yesterday at 3:00 and said that DD had a temp of 102.6 and had a upset tummy and that I had to come get her from daycare. I took her to the doctor and they had to cath her (she is only 2) and they think she has a kidney infection.
Poor DS started to cry when he saw "sister" crying (he is only 4)..He was sooooooooo cute when he told the doctor not to make his sister cry.....
But even with that little bit of added stress I stayed OP....YEAH FOR ME !!!!!!!!!!!!
Ya'll have a great day and thanks to all for the words of encouragement..........I appreciate them all
Ellen 01-16-2003, 02:12 PM NEWPORT: You really don't need sauces to stir fry in. You can mix a bit of soy sauce, white wine and garlic or ginger with your meat and let it sit for about 15 minutes. Then stir fry your veggies in a hot wok with peanut oil, remove, heat the wok again, (or frying pan) add a bit of oil, stir fry your meat, and when it is almost done, add the veggies back in and stir together. Remove the meat and veggies, reduce the sauce over high heat and pour over the meat and veggies. If you can find fermented black beans, you can rinse them, crush with a spoon and add garlic then stir fry with the veggies. Black bean sauce is especially good with beef and broccoli, or asparagus. Most bought sauces contain sugar, and are really not necessary. I used to use cornstarch to thicken the sauce after the dish was cooked, but before I took it out of the wok, but I don't anymore, since cornstarch is not legal. Instead, I now reduce the sauce, and it works very well.
miata1997 01-16-2003, 02:28 PM Hi Group!!! Kathy here, Just wanted to tell you I am doing a-ok. Went to a quilt meeting, looked at the desert table and walked away, and did not go back to look again. Right now I am hungry, got up late, and have not eaten breakfast yet..Guess I will do a brunch.
Made a decision last night that will change my quilting life..I dropped out of the art quilt guild..I guess that means my quilts will not be in any quilt shows, but that is ok. I am not into making quilts that are not ment to be used...I love warm cozy quilts...My goal this year is to get my 2nd bedroom outfitted with warm quilts so when my dd comes home she will feel like it is home!!! It was a werid group anyway..I was the 5th man out, I never fit in real well. They are wine drinkers, I am a beer drinker, they are mostly vegetarians, I am a meat eater all the way, I like cozy bed quilts, they hate traditional quilts... the people who were in the group when I started that I really related too are gone so last night I decided to drop it....Too much to do and no time..I don't want to work on a veggie quilt..I told them I had to learn to eat them and not just make a quilt about them..
Got behind on my indidual posting, but I got to a few..To everyone else, hello, howdy, and hope you hve a good day...
Fillese!!! 4 lbs!!! tht is awesome..Now you southerns just have to tell us about this she-crab soup..Never in my life heard of it..What do they do sex them and only put the females in the soup??? doesn't sound fair to me..I think it should be the he-crab soup!!!
Sabrina: Ukiah is in the Sunny state of Calif, about 2 hours North of San Francisco. It is not a big town, We have one hospital where I work, and 1 really big high school. I can't wait to get oout of Cal..Too expensive to live...
Maemae: You can do this, No questions asked..You have already started and that is where it happens..If you don't start , it won't happen, so you are on your way. I am sure when you are slim and trim when you get to goal, your x's will pop out, and hopefully roll down the street!!!
Deb: the trip sounded like fun..Wish we could all be there. Now I have to ask you..What is thing called Algave? never heard of it..and where do you get it???
got to go clean up...
K

Solly 01-16-2003, 03:19 PM Good afternoon,
No snow here yet. They say it's still coming but not asmuch as previously predicated. I'm glad. Hope I get home before it hits. I hate when it takes 2-3 hours to get home due to snow.
I have a busy afternoon so I thought I would post now incase I don't get back.
For all you quilters out there, A friend of mine save all her sons tee-shirts from all his years in grade school when he played sports. She cut them apart and used them to make a quilt for him to take to college for his dorm room. I thought was so neat. You could use any kind of tee-shirts.
Gator, good for you getting you walk in inspite of the killer dogs. Good idea to get some pepper spray. You never know who you will have to use it on.
Trish, those 3 pounds will be gone before you know it. But it is frustrating losing those same pounds over again. You woulkd think it would teach us, but we don't learn to well.
Fillise, have a god day, sounds like it will be a busy one.
Quiv, Prayers for your co-worker. Hope everything goes ok.
Zanne, WTG on the smaller measurements and low weight. I think the smaller measurements mean more than the stupid scale. It sounds like you have the hang of this now. Keep up the good work. Your "jiffy rink" is funny. Who would have thought of something like that. I sure hope those Robins mean an early Spring. I'm sure ready for it now.
Toni, I hate that you missed yout Dr appt. Stupid weather. We haven't gotten anything yet. They keep saying it's coming, but have now reduced it to 1-3". They say it dissapates when gets to the Ohio Valley. I guess that is one good thing about living in the valley.
IDblond, I think journaling is a good idea. Good way to make you aware of what you are eating.
Maemae, How sad for your DD. Those kidney/bladder infections are tough on little ones. Cute about your DS. WTG on not eating during all that.
Maita, good for you passing up those desserts. This does get easier. gave is catus syrup. It is like honey but totally legal on SB. You can bake with it, sweeten anything you want. It is expensive and usually only found at health food stores or online.
Talk to you tomorrow.

Debelli 01-16-2003, 04:12 PM Hey All:wave:
After my morning post I fell right back in to bed and slept for an hour, maybe more. Woke up more tired than when I hit that pillow. I think it has to be a combination of factors that's making me so tired, not much sleep before or during the get together, the run, not drinking much water, eating way too much garbage foods AND being sick on Saturday from hormones, not to mention, TOM showed up Sunday night (thank goodness it wasn't Sunday during the race). So, I think, all these things combined have packed a wallop on how I'm feeling. Sure hope it passes soon, sure don't like feeling like a zombie!
I have to tell you guys, you have to try some of the recipes that were served on Friday, they were truly delicious! I think one of my favorites had to be TRISH'S MEDITERRANEAN DIP, though everything was delicious. If your recipe is on the RECIPE BOARD, please let the others know so they can try it as well. I think what I ate most of was the ZUCCHINI LOAF CAKE which BIGK made but is originally my recipe - it was delicious! I can't make it at home, I'd eat the whole thing in a flash.
There was talk about possibly having a get together in the NEW ORLEANS area in the future, thinking this would be a better central location to have some more people meet. Any thoughts? Nothing set in stone, or even a time, just an idea. Would still do Orlando in January too. BTW, registration for the WDW Marathon for 2004 starts March 1st!!!!!
JACKK, thanks again for watching over the board for me:D Hmmmm, my advice, honestly, I can't tell you what I said to them, I talked non-stop about so many different things. I don't know what was new to them, if anything.
TRISH, complaining about the weather? Well, I told you you could of stayed longer!!! Don't worry about the indiscretions, I don't consider it like cheating. There were things you ate down here that you couldn't get at home so now that you're home, these things aren't around and you can get back on track. Besides, weren't they delicious!!!!
FILLISE, hope your weekend isn't too hectic. Sounds like you have the house stocked with SB goodies!!!
QUIV, good wishes to your co-worker! Sorry I haven't been able to keep up with what's going on with you (or the rest of the board), but good to see more posts from you after the holidays!
ZANNE, good going on being down on the scale and the tape measure! Hoping I can say the same thing soon myself. Maybe next time you can be with us - you and ROSALIE should try to come down together one year.
NEWPORT, wish I could help with the sauces. I'm a terrible cook and will do anything to avoid doing it. I think MONET gave you some good advice. What I can tell you is that if you like BBQ, I have a wonderful recipe for BBQ SAUCE on the recipe boards that's very yummy!
TONI, roast burritos?? OMG, that sounds delish! Details! I can't imagine having to drive in snow, much less go out in it - heck, much less see it! I'm cold here today and it's in the upper 60's. I'm such a sissy!
LDBLOND, you know how I feel about journaling - to me there is no substitute. It definitely helps putting pen to paper. When I don't journal I find myself eating more things than I should.
MAE, hope your DD is doing better, sounds like she's got a few things going on with her. Terrible the younger they are, terrible when any kid get sick, but I think harder when they are so young. Let us know how she's feeling later on! I have a WHOLE FOODS that I go to. There's a lot of great stuff they have there. Best to have whole grain pasta. Are you talking about JOSEPHS COOKIES?
MIATA, I would LOVE to see some of your handywork! I bet you do some beautiful quilts. Okay, agave is a natural sweetener made from a plant they have in Mexico. Actually, agave is used in tequila. It's lower on the GI than other sweeteners and is SB LEGAL. You can use it in place of sugar/honey in baking which is what I do. Check your local HFS in your area to see if they have it, it's a wee bit expensive, but worth it to have a treat once in a while. I make my CRUSTLESS CHEESECAKE with it.
With all the talk about quilting, it seems we have a lot of talented women! I can tell you the MELF does very beautiful crocheting. She was making a baby blanket, it's going to be beautiful. I wish I was talented!
Gotta run and go get Michael at the nursing home. Will try to check in later!

maemae 01-16-2003, 04:19 PM Deb the cookies that I am speaking of are called I Can't Believe It's Not Sugar....They are made here in Houston....
They have Unbleached Flour, Maltitol, butter, pecans, eggs, vanilla, salt and chocolate chunks....
heartmom 01-16-2003, 04:47 PM Debelli- Hey,does that mean tequila is legal?! Okay, wishful thinking!
MAEMAE- sorry, but the cookies aren't legal- it's not just the sugar, it's what they are made of- flour. Whole wheat flour would have been okay, though(not enriched). If I'm wrong about this, please, somebody correct me.
Okay, today started out by taking Boogie to get his 2nd part flu shot. I'm so glad I switched clinics-we were in and out in under 25 minutes. The other clinic would have been 1-2 hours. Plus, the new doc actually impressed me by reading about Boogie's heart condition and the type of surgeries he's had after our last visit on Monday. Then I had to run a couple of errands and I went to the Hudson's that just reopened(new building). That was a mistake- I've never seen so many people in one store- plus I literally waited in line for 30 minutes. It will be a month or so before I go back.
I TRIED to exercise today- I hung with it about halfway. My thighs are so sore from yesterday, that I couldn't do anymore, they were starting to feel like concrete. Stepped on the scales today and I'm teed off-it's STILL at 211. I haven't lost anything since last week and I've been OP and have started exercising. So I took my measurements hoping it would show a loss there-NOPE! Okay, here's crossing my fingers and wishing for 210 tomorrow...
maemae 01-16-2003, 04:53 PM Heartmom,
What type of heart condition does Boogie have....My Angelic DD is a heart baby also....She is hypoplastic right, vsd and dextracardia...
Tranquil 01-16-2003, 05:04 PM I wish I had time to reply to all today but work is busy. Tomorrow I go to the doctor's and will get to find out what their scale says along with what the heck is wrong with me!!!!
I just wanted to check in - thank you for all the well wishes, and this weekend I am going to post my rendition of the trip - meanwhile thank you Wendy and Mary for posting the photos - OMG, I am stunned at how the camera makes me look!!!!! What an eye opener.
Got to run now...Stay OP everyone, I am!!!! Had salad for lunch, a little spelt sesame seed stick snack, and I am not sure yet what dinner will be - probably left over roast.....]
Sabrina
TVthatsME 01-16-2003, 05:07 PM Good afternoon.
Sitting here in N AL still waiting on the snow/winter weather they said was coming. It looks threatening outside, but I think we'll only get a dusting if anything at all. Kids got out of school early, they are happy about that anyway. They'll be mad if they have to go tomorrow...
My headache finally went away about 9pm last night. I felt like the living dead - and probably overdid it on the ibprofen, but I was desparate for relief. I think I've got some sort of hormonal thing going on. Water retention, headache, pains in low left side (feels like an ovary issue), general depression - Yup, sounds like hormones to me... If it doesn't subside soon, I'm calling the doctor.
No time to address everyone - but wanted to say we had another baby goat, a billy this time. He was born in the field and we didn't find him until long after dark. Its a wonder he didn't freeze, but he was just hanging out waiting to be rescued. He was sure glad to see his Moma (or rather what was underneath her, ha ha).
Gotta run for now.
Teresa
heartmom 01-16-2003, 05:16 PM MaeMae- Small world, huh? Boogie is HLHS-hypoplastic left heart syndrome. He's had all 3 of the staged surgeries- he had the Fontan done Oct.10th at CHOP. Dr.Spray is his surgeon. Oh, he will be 3 this April. How old is your daughter,2? Has she had any surgeries? Where do you guys live? We live in Mississippi. Do you belong to any heart support groups online?
heartmom 01-16-2003, 05:17 PM DUH- MAEMAE- I see where you're from now,lol-Pasedena,TX.
gracious 01-16-2003, 05:24 PM Back from 7 hours of shopping today! Not my 10 hour stint that I did last week but hey, I am getting older. ;) Ended up bringing home another critter to add to our menagerie. We now have a wee hamster named Zebedee. He is extremely cute and simply got added to the budgie, cat, dog, chickens and ducks!
I stayed legal all day and resisted many sales of junk food. I did buy some for my son's birthday loot bags that I will be making but nothing that I can't deal with. I got some nuts and sunflower seeds in the shell for snacking when needed...better than giving in to something really illegal. I was down another pound this morning so I am feeling pretty good about things.
TRANQUIL- Sounds like you have been eating some tasty things..keep it up. Most of us usually don't like the way we look in photos..sometimes I love them and other times I hate them!
ZANNE- I was wondering about those make your own rinks and how they worked. I think it sounds like a great idea. Let us know how it turns out when it is complete, I am curious. My kids would love having that in the back yard.
I am off to get things together for tomorrow. Have a great night.
maemae 01-16-2003, 05:26 PM Hi Heartmom,
As of yet Braylee has not had any surgeries....I found out about her heart condition while I was pregnant (about 3-4mths). At first they thought she had Epsteins but then ruled it out and came to the conclusion it was Hypoplastic Right.....She has done sooooooooo well. We had our last checkup in October and he told me to come back when she turns 3 (in August)...She is too big for the sedation meds so they thought she would sit still better when she is 3......
We see Dr. Bezold at Texas Childrens Hospital here in Houston.....So if ya'll ever have to come this way let me know....It is a wonderful Heart Clininc and they have 2 of the best Surgeons on board......
Boogie is in my prayers..........
heartmom 01-16-2003, 05:46 PM MAEMAE- is it HRV or HRHS? I'll let you know about the Texas thing- actually my high school best friend lives outside of Houston(I used to live there) and we were thinking about visiting her on vacation this summer-so you never know..
maemae 01-16-2003, 05:50 PM Heartmom- its Hypoplastic Right Ventricle.....i've heard her doctor call it both....and then the vsd (holes in the heart) and dextrcardia (her heart is on the right side of her chest and twisted 180%)......Yes let me know if ya'll get out this way
A quick Hi to everyone...
Just checking in real quick while I have a minute. I loved the pictures. Looks like you had a "ton of fun" ha ha, no pun intended.
Boy there sure were a lot of good losses for the week. Good job!
I'm trying a sprouted wheat pizza bread tonight.... found it at where else (Trader Joe's). I'm going to put Muir Glen pizza sauce (no sugar), pepperoni, veggies, cheese on it... Have been saving my starchy carbs today...
Deb, I think that you may need a trip to a day spa to get totally refreshed.... You deserve it, Ms. Patron Saint of Sugarbusters..!!
It's really nice to know that when we drop off the board for a while.... you are always there to come back to. I don't know how you do it.
On the run.... :D
Debelli 01-16-2003, 06:12 PM Hey All:wave:
Thought I'd get in a post while the computer is free. Both kids are busy with friends studying in their rooms.
MAE, I've never heard of that brand of cookies. If you can't find something that fits the bill when you are dying for a cookie, this would be the lesser of two evils. If you buy them, just be careful that you don't eat them too often if you do, it can easily get out of hand and cause problems. As HEART said, truley, they aren't legal, but if you must...
HEART, dont you wish! What kind of store is Hudsons? Seems like you and MAE have smore than you thought in common:)
TRANQUIL, hoping the Dr. can determine why you keep getting sick. ELI's daughter was like that for quite a while, after having pneumonia, Dr. said she really never got totally over it and was why she kept getting sick so much shortly after. I agree, when we see a picture of ourselves it sometimes tells us more than we care to know. I can see in my face the weight I've gained - not a pretty picture!
TV, I get those hormone headaches and/or sometimes the barfing thing too, which is what I had Saturday, before the race. Thank goodness I didn't get the headache, they are excruciating. I take 222's and then pass out, and usually wake up just fine hours later. I hate when I get those! How many goats do you now have?
GRACIOUS, between you and TV, it sounds like you two could open a zoo together!
VR, a day at the spa sounds devine, and expensive. One day I'll pamper myself, but right now, the only way I could pamper myself is to grab one of my neices diapers! I'm glad to see people come back to the board, it shows how comfortable many people are and in knowing that they can easily come back at any time and be welcomed back with open arms.
Okay, I'm off to see what I can scrounge up for dinner for the kids and their friends. Bad enough I have to cook for my 2, but 2 more - hmmm, maybe if I do cook, they won't ever stay for dinner again!!! !:s:
Toodles
Debbie
Fillise 01-16-2003, 06:25 PM I'm at the evil (in terms of evil food) church for a dinner and popped into my office for a minute. They are serving a starch fest tonight so I stopped by a deli on the way and picked up a grilled chicken salad to bring with me. The big Guy upstairs COULD make it easier on us and fix it so that any white four and sugar consumed in church would NOT raise our blood glucose levels!!!
Heartmom and Maemae--I just kills me that your dear little ones have little hearts that need some fixing. But I am thrilled that you found each other on this board. Who better who help you deal with the added stress of dealing with trying to stay OP while worrying about your precious babies. I know I can safely speak for everyone on this board when I say that both of you should know that the folks on this board will be here for you through it all! :grouphug:
OK--got to go get the beachballs blown up (it's beach night in January--only the coldest night of the year so far--sheesh).

fruitloupe 01-16-2003, 09:51 PM Hey Ladies!
New Orleans! New Orleans! New Orleans!!! woohoo! I can definitely make that one!!! I am voting for that! I think that would be wonderful. If we can get something together - I'll be happy to make the plans! Remember you can stay here too - I can sleep 10 comfortably 14 on sofas, etc. So, if y'all are serious, let me know - I can get us some deals in New Orleans - we can spend some time there and then some time here - there are lots of things to do around our house too - plantation homes, swamp tours, etc. So - let me know!!
Welcome to all the new people! I pop in and out a lot - very wishy washy - so just bear with me!!
See y'all tomorrow!

fruitloupe 01-16-2003, 10:03 PM MELF: I just looked at all the pics from the trip - PRECIOUS! I wish I would have been there - but had to have the boobs done instead (Don't fuss DEB)
Nomoresugar 01-16-2003, 10:45 PM Well, I made the appointment for next Thursday with an oral surgeon. And I must admit that I am a bit nervous - which really wasn't a good excuse for eating dessert at a luncheon today.
Thanks for more great pictures, Melf!
And Debbie - thanks for the info on Agave - I will be in Boca tomorrow and plan to go the Whole Foods there. I did find Arrowroot in the Coral Springs store - a legal way to thicken instead of cornstarch. Actually, I always used tapioca starch which I get at the Oriental markets.
Gatorgal - Is the recipe for your roasted tomato cheese tart on the recipe folder???
Quivondra - hope your co=worker is okay. What kind of exam are you studying for???
Maemae - Sure hope that little one of yours gets better fast. Deb told me to look for Aunt Gussie's cookies at my Whole Foods - especially, she said, the spelt chocolate chip biscotti. So they must be legal!!
Time for bed - and a sugar free hot chocolate.
vesnoid 01-16-2003, 11:57 PM O.k., So I haven't posted for so long, some of you may not even remember me. Anyway, I just managed to squeeze in some time, to say that Orlando get together was an absolute blast! Jee wheez.
It was great meeting the girls. You know, I thougth I was was pretty crazy myself, but I must say I have some serious competition!
Unfortunately, I had to work for most of the weekend, and on Sunday at 1 Am, I was still dealing with my "Bathroom emergency", that's why I coulldn't go meet the girls later on that day. My Toilet was completely plugged, and I spent my Sunday afternoon running around for Toilet parts and waiting for my friend to replace it. Lots' of fun, you can imagine.
I can't type much longer today, because I got into a fight with a glass this morning. I sort of think I won, because the bloody thing is in the thrash. Nevertheless, it is bloody, because it took a rather nice chunk of my pinky finger with it. Does that qualify me for a handicapped sticker? My pinky is all black and blue. :(
DEB: What happened to the picture of Melf in her nightie? Not to mention Chris's fashion look..!! I'll try to call you one of these days, when I get home before 10PM. Have you tried the butter dish yet?
GALS, it was a HOOT!!! My room mate and I had a lot of fun, and MAD CUDOS to Debbie for organizing the whole thing. Debbie, you are an artist!! I am serious.
So, off with rapidly fattening me.....
Vesna
P.S. O.k. so I read my post and the part with the bathroom emergency could be a bit misunderstood. :^: You see, I was PLUNGING the toilet when I got home, because it was stuffed. No movement. Ok? RIght. This stilll doesn't really explain things. ANyway, let me just say that even after being removed from its place (now comfortably seated by the side of my house as a garden ornament), the plummber was still unable to get the "stuff" out. Debbie, don't even go there. It wasn't me
gracious 01-17-2003, 07:32 AM Friday Morning here.....I am down yet another pound this morning and although I am thrilled, I am rather confused by it...but I will take it!!!
NOMORESUGAR- I don't know if anyone has mentioned GUAR GUM to you but it is a great way to thicken things without adding carbs. You only need a little bit, usually only 1 teaspoon or so and it thickens with cooking. I add it to my sauces/gravies/soups while it is cooking and in the end it ends of terrific with no aftertaste at all. You can get it at health food stores...at least that is where I get it here in Canada. Careful you don't go overboard with it or you end up with glue! Add a wee bit at a time, stir and let cook for 5-10 minutes then decide from there if you need more or not.
FILLISE- I wholeheartedly agree....all foods consumed within the confines of the church building should be carb and fat free!! Can't you just see the number of Fellowship meals grow exponentially if that were possible?! Beach night sounds like fun.
DEBELLI- TV and I most certainly could open a petting zoo from the sounds of it. Crazy, but I love animals and having them around while the kids grow up to love and play with. Congrats on your great run over the weekend!
Off to tend the flock! ;)
Debelli 01-17-2003, 08:33 AM It's SUGARLESS' BIRTHDAY TODAY!!!!
http://members.aol.com/eldemila/sb_bday_sign.jpg
Solly 01-17-2003, 08:46 AM Happy Friday
Boy I'm I glad this week is over. It was tough working 2 weeks without a break. I guess some will get a holiday Monday, but we don't.
Made lasagna for dinner last nite. It was pretty good. Even the ww noodles weren't too bad. I just can't get to liking the ww pasta. Too strong. Had half left over so I will have dinner one night next week.
Did my 3 mile tape last nite and about a 30 minutes wt training workout. My shoudlers and triceps sure are sore today. I think the tape is really helping my lose again.
Sugarless, Happy Birthday. :hb: Hope it is a great one. :hat: :gift:
Heartmom, I would suggest that you not weigh everyday. I cn't deal with the day to day fluctuations. To depressing. If you are eating OP and exercising, it will come off. Keep up the good work.
Tranquil, SUre hope yur dr can finally fix you up. Pictures are eye openers. I guess that is why I avoid the camera. I thought your pics were very pretty.
TV, Isn't being a woman wonderful? How cute about the goat. Glad you found him before he froze.
Gracious, you are starting to give Deb a run for her money in the shopping dept. 7 hours, whew! I would be worn out. WTG on the 1 lb.
MameMae, I hate that your DD has a heart condition too. You and heartmom will be a lot of support for each other. Hope she continues to do well.
VR, hope your pizza turned out. There is a recipe on the boards for a ww pizza crust. It is pretty good. Have a great day.
Deb, get out of here. There is no wt gain showing in your face. Those pics are beautiful and thin. Are we never happy with ourselves? Are those kids still alive?
Fillise, That's why the Guy upstairs invented willpower. Hang in there. Good for you bringing your own salad.
Fruit, how gracious you are to open up your home for us. Save me a sofa.
Nomoresugar, Sending good thoughts your way for the oral surgeon. Put that dessert behind you and jump back on track.
Vesnoid, Well it's good to hear from you. I kept hearing you name at the O trip and wondered if you would come back. Please try not to be a stranger.
Gracious, Don't question why, just take that 1 lb and run with it. WTG. :cp:
Need to get some work done, so I'll check back later.

Fillise 01-17-2003, 08:55 AM I have the blue frowny face because I have turned blue from the cold!
It is 28 degrees here todya and the high isn't supposed to be much better. Tonight it will be in the teens with a wind chill near zero.
Have I mentioned how much I hate winter?:stress:
I'm off to spend the day in Montgomery getting stuff ready for Monday. I'll be back tonight for my scrapbookers night, then I head back to Montgomory for the rest of the weekend tomorrow afternoon. I should be able to get back on the board sometime Tuesday or Wed.
I'm definatly shopping for a coat while I'm down there today!!!!
Gracious--Yeah--all food consumed in church should be low-glycemic protein! I think we'd have to eat all our meals there. There are some churches where folks abstain from alchol, some religions are vegetarian, other have strict dietary laws (e.g. keeping kosher), perhaps we should found the First Church of Glycemia. or Our Lady of the Sugar Busting! Sugar and refined carbs would be a sin all parishioned would have to keep a low-glycemic kitchen. What do you think?
Happy Birthday Sugarless!!!! :gift: :grouphug: :balloons: :hb:
Vesnoid--it is good to hear from you again--though sorry about the pinkie! Don't be a stranger!
Nomoresugar: Get it over with! Dreading it is usually worse than actually doing it. Although I'm the biggest baby when it comes to dental work, you'll be happy when it is behind you.
Missy--New Orleans in in driving distance for me--and let's not forget that is where Sugar Busters was born! It just needs to be a weekend I can get a pass from the church for me!
ACW--I have always heard that NZ is just gorgeous. I'd love to visit sometime! Hey--nest January let's go to the southern hemisphere where it is SUMMER!
Deb--It's now wonder you are tired--you went 13 + miles on Sunday--plus all the other stress. Take it easy on yourself.
When I got home from church last night there was a box of 1 dozen HUGE Texas grapefruit on my doorstep. It was a gift from the advertising agency I used during the campaign. I had 1/2 of one this morning--boy are they tasty! Nowmust go find some protein.
Have a good day everyone!
Susan
linworthlady 01-17-2003, 09:06 AM Boy this board is so busy. I take a day off and I am so far behind. I love reading the posts-sorry I can't individually reply to everyone.
Deb-I thought you were gorgeous in your pictures. I never saw anyone overweight-just someone with great hair!
Jackie-You are doing great with the exercise! I went to running camp last night and felt so great after 2 hours of running, walking, and exercises. Large muscle exercise is a great mood elevator for me.
Susan-Let us know what kind of coat you find.
Big cheers for everyone that lost on WIW. It just goes to show you how good this WOE is.
Deb-is the zuccini cake that you ate in O Town the zucchini spice loaf that is on the recipe board? Will you all share the recipes from your get together--the tomato tart sounds good.
Tranquil 01-17-2003, 09:24 AM First, HAPPY BIRTHDAY SUGARLESS :hat:
Gracious - Yeah, One Pound!!! That is great!!!! :)
Vesna - It was great meeting you and Sonna....Hope the toilet problem is gone, that can be such a bummer!!!!
NoMoreSugar - Good luck with the oral surgeon...don't blame you for being nervous, just getting your teeth cleaned can make anyone nervous - but the desserts won't make you feel better - find yourself something legal to carry with you for those weaker moments.
Fruit - I am all for a New Orleans Get Together - and I will be the first one to show up, hahahaha!!! Such a fun place!!! Along with I get to see you, Melf and Sef!!!!!!! Hope your chest is healing!!! I even told Melf how much I would enjoy getting over to your area to meet you all! Along with New Orleans being the home of Sugar Busters!
Fillise - what you posted is just too funny, and I agree The Big Guy could make it a little easier!!!!! hahaha At this very moment we had breakfast catered in - danishes and bagels (my favorite cheese bagels) and since I am 100% OP, I am staying put and leaving for the doctor's without a glance at that POISON!!!!
Deb - I leave for the doctors in about 30 minutes. I am eager to get this taken care of!!! I am also hoping that the scales at the doctor's office are kinder to me than 2 weeks ago .... so cross everything for me!!!
VR - That pizza sounded so yummy - now my stomach is growling - where did you find that pizza bread?
Gracious - how sweet, a new hamster!!!! we had a sweet little hamster a while ago named Rocket, but she died of old age (4.5 years old), and now we have Bill and Ted the guinea pigs who are also very very sweet.....
I know I have missed replying to quite a few of you, and it is not on purpose!!!! I am at work and have to get busy....
JackK - I did remember your plea for warmer weather - come on down any time!!!! If you get sick of my place, you know the other Floridian SBers will open their doors to you :)
Sabrina
Zanne 01-17-2003, 09:38 AM Morning All
Ok, you know it's really cold outside when your eyelashes get ice on them:eek: It's a cold one today and supposed to stay this way thru the weekend. Apparently we're getting cold air directly from the arctic! The temp is 1 degree F and with the windchill it's MINUS 22 F!
DH has the car for work today, so I had to walk DS to school. He hates all the winter clothes! As long as you're dressed for it, it's not too bad:lol: :dizzy:
I have a suggestion for those who have been getting hungry and don't know what to have. How about a SMOOTHIE? I had forgotten about those till I found some strawberries in my freezer and whipped up a smoothie this morning. It's filling and gave me a serving of fruit and calcium. AND it's legal!
SUGARLESS--Happy Birthday!:gift: :hat: :flow1:
Since I don't want to be outside today, I'm going to tackle my mountain of laundry!
Have a GREAT SB day everyone!
maemae 01-17-2003, 09:56 AM Good morning all...............:cb:
I know we are supposed to do our weigh in on Wednesday.....but I couldn't wait.....I went downstairs to the clinic and weighed 174.......YEAH !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! thats about 5 pounds:cloud9:
This was my first real week since I had flubbed the week before....so I am assuming some of that weight was from the first week but i'll take it all.....:)
I had one of the nurses look to make sure I was doing it correctly and she said yes...........that also led to the conversation about what I was doing so of course I talked about SB.....;)
Sugarless- Happy Birthday :hb:
My DD is doing much better thanks for all the well wishes.
DawnStorm 01-17-2003, 10:14 AM Not a pretty sight! 230 lbs! :( The Dr didn't say anything, but that's about what I weighed 3 years ago! :o My blood pressure was nice and low--to all those nay-sayers that claim this type of diet raises your BP: :censored:! Boy do I have my work cut out for me! :( Don't remember who gave me the heads up about enriched ww, but thanks--I'll have to check that! Maybe I'll just use brown rice in place of pasta! :sorry: Do food manufacturers have a :censored: for enriched? What's up with that? :?: I'm going to try out some more recipes, and I do have a joke for Friday Funnies, but right now I've got work to do!
gracious 01-17-2003, 10:23 AM ZANNE- I've got you beat! We are to get -35 degrees celcius with the wind chill by morning and that is about -30 F for our American friends. It is really cold here right now. I have the woodstove stoked and even put some electric heat on in the kitchen to take the chill off...crazy!! Good idea to stay inside today. I won't let my little guy go outside to play just incase he stays frozen to the sled!
MAEMAE- Way to go on the loss!! :cb: Feels great, huh?
TRANQUIL- I used to have a guinea pig named Shadrach but that critter smelled! Did you get yours neutered? Mine seemed to specialize in urinating...but he sure was cute.
FILLISE- I think the best set up would be that you could eat what you wanted or leave what you wanted but that none of it caused weight gain. But..knowing that all things are to be in moderation we couldn't make it a gluttony thing...just a bit of everything and our thighs would never know!!
JACK-K- I like the taste of WW pasta but at least for you it helps to prevent you from taking too big a serving. Gotta look at the bright side! I will take that pound and keep running away from it as fast as I can.
SUGARLESS- Happy B-day to you!
DawnStorm 01-17-2003, 10:43 AM Here's my Friday Funny:
A swammi and his friend were driving along a country road when a rabbit darted out in front of them. They couldn't stop in time and ended up hitting the rabbit. Feeling really bad, the men got out of the car. The swammi went up to the rabbit, waved his hands and said some words. The rabbit immediately got up, waved, hopped away, waved, and hopped a little further. It kept repeating this motion until it was out of sight. The man was amazed and asked the swammi: "what did you do?" The swammi smiled and said, "I gave him a hare restorer with a permanent wave!" :joker:
Mom2Marsh 01-17-2003, 11:41 AM Wow, so much going on here! Have I told you ladies (and gentleman) what an inspiration you are to me right now. I haven't been eating very well lately, but better than I have in the recent past. I'm a compulsive overeater (it's been an all-out eating disorder with me in the past) and you all have really helped me to not give in to that these past couple of weeks. Even when I've "fallen off the wagon", it hasn't been to binge. Only eating not right food (like fries last night).
I don't often have time to post to everyone, but I'm here lurking everyday. I'm going to try to be better about posting! Thank you all again!

maemae 01-17-2003, 11:57 AM Hi guys it's me again....I had a break and was looking for some smoothie recipes (couldn't find any without banana's in them) but i came a cross this article that was very interesting to me about finding hidden sugars.....thought some of you might enjoy it...
http://www.ivillage.com/diet/experts/wlcoach/articles/0,5050,165858_39436,00.html
Also I had a question about Whole Wheat Pastry Flour....Is it legal?
miata1997 01-17-2003, 12:12 PM Hello All. Just wanted to post and say hello to everyone..I am doing a-ok..stayed op yesterday and even cooked Salman..I am cooking lots now..which is good for me. When I am not op, I am a fast food junkie. But nothing I need to eat is out there so it is back to the kitchen..
Someone in a post said Subway Sandwiches on WW bread is legal or did I read that wrong?? I always thought there WW bread was like fake. I do like subways on occasions. I wish I like ww spaghetti. I like reg very much. I found some spagetti sauce with 3 sugars and plan on eating it with spagetti squash..I have not eaten one of those for years but decided to try. any one out htere eat thoes???
Good day to you all..
Kathy
CountryMom4Him 01-17-2003, 12:39 PM I LOVE spaghetti squash. I poke some holes in it and nuke it for 8 to 10 minutes...perfect every time. I like it with sauce but my favorite way is with some sauteed onions and tomatoes with garlic. I throw the tomatoes in after I turn off the heat. Just long enough to slightly warm them. I love it cold and hot.
Love,
Crystle
Serene 01-17-2003, 12:54 PM WOW! The board is sure busy! Just wish I had time to do a lengthy post, but like a lot you, I'm actually expected to get some work done also. :)
My body is rewarding me for being good this week and I have dropped another 2 lbs since WIW and I'm now at 213. I'm thinking of making a min goal of being below 200 by the end of February. Isn't that a realistic amount to lose by then?
Well, I have to get back to work but wanted to submit a Funny for today.
Take Care,
Wendy
P.S. I would vote for getting together in New Orleans. Ive never been there but have always wanted to go. Is anyone else thinking about doing the marathon with Deb next year? I'm considering it. I use to be a runner and am trying to decide if I could be again?
PILLS, PILLS, PILLS....
A row of bottles upon my shelf
Has caused me to analyze myself.
One yellow pill I hope to pop,
Goes to my heart so it won't stop,
A little white one that I take,
Goes to my hands so they won't shake.
The blue ones that I use a lot,
Tell me I'm happy when I'm not.
The purple one goes to my brain,
And tells me that I have no pain.
The capsules tell me not to sneeze,
Or cough, or choke or even wheeze.
The red ones, smallest of them all,
Goes to my blood so I won't fall.
The orange ones so big and bright,
Stop my leg cramps in the night.
Such an array of brilliant pills,
Helping to cure all kinds of ills.
But what I'd really like to know,
Is what tells each one where to go

Quivondra 01-17-2003, 01:09 PM Hey everyone... I'm so excited. It's my dad's b-day tomorrow and he really wanted to go to the Rolling Stone's Concert at Madison Square Gardens. I work in Times Square and they (HBO) were quizing people for free t-shirts. They agreed to do a cell phone quiz with my dad on the line and they were so impressed with his knowledge that they gave me a t-shirt and a hat for him. Cool huh?
Starving hungry..going to grab some soup for lunch. Stay Strong over the weekend!!
Zanne 01-17-2003, 01:28 PM Here's a recipe from the SB recipe boards that DEBELLI posted a while ago.
FRESH & FRUITY AGAVE SMOOTHIE
Makes approx. 4 servings.
1 pint fresh strawberries, stemmed and sliced
OR 2 cups frozen strawberries, slightly thawed
1 cup milk
1 cup (8oz) plain or vanilla low-fat yogurt
1/2 cup agave syrup, or to taste
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
1 cup crushed ice
In a blender or food processor, combine all ingredients; process until smooth. Serve immediately.
OTHER SUGGESTIONS: You may use 2 cups of any fresh or frozen fruit or a combination of fruits such as sliced strawberries and sliced peaches or whole raspberries and mango.
The possibilities are endless!
I do basically the same thing, but I don't measure, except for the agave. I personally use 2 TBSP of the agave. I like things kind of tart. I don't put in the ice since my fruits are already frozen when I put them in the blender and I don't like my drinks really cold.
DEB is right--ANY fruit or fruit combo you like is great.
Hope this helps you out.
Solly 01-17-2003, 03:43 PM Friday afternoon and it's almost over!
Whew! what a day. Ihave been on phones all day long. One problem after the next. I'm glad this day is almost over.
It's been so crazy I haven't had time to catch up so I thought I'd better post while things were slow.
Fillise, Have a good weekend. See you Tuesday. Get a coat.
Linworth, Have a great day and weekend. You exercise class sounds strenous, but good for you.
Tranquil, Get a good report form your Dr and from his scale. :crossed: Good for you passing up those goodies this morning.
Zanne, I don't see how you could dress for 1 degree. I would have to get in a sack. Stay warm.
Maemae, I'm doing the  for your 5 lbs. That is great. Keep on the straight and narrow and see what happens next week. WW pastry flour is legal. I make my smoothies, with oj, fruit and ice. Some add nf, ns yogurt.
Dawnstorm, Don't get discouraged. Try not to look at the whole picture. When I started SB I was at 257. Take it in little goals, 10 pounds, reward yourself with new clothers, accessories. It will come off I promise. Good luck.
Gracious, you're right I did only eat half of what everyone else took. But I think some of it was my new way of eating too.
Mom2Marsh, You can do this. It gets easier. Set some goals and then think about what you want. Do you want those fries or to be thinner? What is important to you??
Miata, Subway ww bread is not legal. It is enriched. I don't like the ww pasta either so I buy 100% duram semolina and it is legal.
Serene, :cp: for the 2 lbs. WTG girl. 200 may be a little hard to do in 6 weeks, but then again why not shoot for the moon. I'm pulling for you.
Quiv, cool!
Have a great weekend everyone.
Jackie
YellowRose 01-17-2003, 04:52 PM Hi Everyone,
I too have enjoyed reading all the posts and won't be able to reply individually at this time. But I did want to say hi and tell Debbie that I, in no way even want a minute of being the DD Mistress. Deb, you do an extraordinary job and no one could replace you.
Hope everyone has a nice evening and weekend.
maemae 01-17-2003, 05:00 PM Good afternoon ladies...........
This has been one exciting day for me......Not only the weight loss but I just found out that I have a really good chance of an interview for a position within the college where I work....My supervisor wrote me the nicest recommendation and I am just bursting at the seems......
The one I am in now is only till March (its grant funded) so this will be a permanent position for me....Plus I need the stability with being a single mom now and all...
I just wanted to share the news with someone...
Thanks.....
THE BIG ORANGE BABE 01-17-2003, 05:38 PM HELLO ALL YOU BUSTER'S
Just checking in to let you know that I'm still kicking and breathing!
I've had a really busy week, and now the work begins at home :dizzy:
It's cold and windy over here on the SW COAST OF FLA...looks like it will snow any minute now. Our wind chill factor is supposed to be in the low teens tonight...cold all weekend, so that will allow me to get things done around here...have to don the rubber gloves and clean the bathroom for sure!
Hope everyone has a good weekend...
Later
BOB
Debelli 01-17-2003, 05:54 PM Will try to get in a post later, but wanted to post the link that DENISE so nicely sent me with 5 pictures of the race at WDW. I had NO idea they were posted on the web!!!!
http://www.asiorders.com/view_user_event.asp?S=20&EVENTID=2192&BIB=20332
Deb, love the race pics! Sorry I could not post the pics I took from the fashion show. They were too blurry. Still shots are great with a digital, but any movement causes a blurry pic, so I'm afraid the only ones will be the ones from your camera. Have been eating advocadas. Theu are wonderful! Also did a search for Whole Foods Market & found two in New Orleans so that would be the closest for me, then Houston, so next time I visit dd in Texas, we will be making a tour of Houston. :D
Trish, yes All my goodies got home safely with me. I had picked up 3 Kibbie & 3 Falafels. It was so funny cause when I got to Atlanta I decided I was hungry & opened my bag to get one of each. The aroma hit me as I unzipped my bag & I hurried to close it back for fear that they would be confiscated on the spot. LOL
Tranquil, Serene, Fruit, & Deb, I certainly cast a vote for a New Orleans get-together! I think that would be lots of fun. Name the date & I'll be there. :D
Rose, is the tree down? Have you recouperated? How's the shoulder after lugging all that luggage? My weight is still up, but I have had pitting edema of my lwer legs & feet for the past 2 days with no relief yet, so I do feel that the majority of the extra weight is fluid. Will need to do some Apple Cider tablets. That usually helps me with the extra fluid retention.
Vesna, sounds like a vicious fight with that glass! I'm glad you won even though you lost some blood in the battle. I  reading your post. Made me
Well ladies, I know I missed some of you but I just don't have the time to do a full post. Please forgive me if you addressed me & I didn't reply to you. Got to go. Oh, & I did post a link to the pictures on our picture board too.
It is soooo cold here & they say it will get down to about 22 degrees in the am. Burr.. I can't warm up!
Hi all, Saturday already here and I have a small contribution to Friday Funnies I found in our paper this a.m
"Dear Lord if I can't be skinny, please make all my friends fat!
Catch you later
Anna:dizzy:
The Quilter 01-17-2003, 11:14 PM Oh my gosh, I am so far behind on the posts! Yikes!!! So sorry about the fact that I've been absent for a few days. Did I tell you all that I started making jewelry? I took a class a few weeks ago and I've been going crazy with it since then. So every evening I've been working on my new project. Hopefully, I'll get some time this weekend to catch up.
I just wanted to touch base and let you all know that I'm still here.
I'll try to read and respond later this weekend.
Good night!
Kim
Debelli 01-18-2003, 07:17 AM Good Saturday Morning All:wave:
Just a quickie, as I am on my way out to a few garage sales, not many but won't be able to go for the next two weeks so want to get out before I have withdrawls. Have to p/u Lauren who slept at my parent's house, take her later to a party, pick up ELI from the airport later, take Michael somewhere - day of running, running, running! Go find out what's going on with my Dad - had to have a blood transfusion, severely anemic all of a sudden. What's with this crap???
Will try to get on later, though not sure what the day is going to look like today, may have to wait til tomorrow!!!
Have a good weekend!

Deb
Quivondra 01-18-2003, 09:03 AM At my parent's place today. Dad was really happy with his presents. We got him one of those old fashioned replica record players that folds into a suitcase. Pretty cool...
My brother posted some photos of his wedding..i'm going to try to post one of me at my thinnest on the photo page. I still think I look like a heffer!!!
here's a teaser:
http://www.julieandvincent.com/images/julievincent/christianoth/d-quirinererunbig.jpg
First one to figure out what dance I'm doing gets a prize!
Thanks for all the support re: my co-worker. haven't heard anything but I guess no news is good news.
Vesna, good to hear from you again...was starting to think your kiln swallowed you whole!
Have a good week end all. Love reading all your posts.
Mom2Marsh 01-18-2003, 10:37 AM Quivondra- I vote for the Macarena. I, personally, think you look great! Can't wait until I'm small enough to shake my booty without causing seismic activity!
Well, I did very poorly yesterday. I had several slices of Pizza last night, but now I'm doing good. I've got to hit the laundromat today and while that's going, I'm planning on getting my groceries. (The laundromat and Publix are right next door to each other).
So, any of the other Floridians have one of the new HUGE Publixes near them? We just got a new one down the street from me and it has a HEALTH FOOD STORE right inside! They still don't have several items that I like to get (like ww tortillas) but it's better than nothing. They carry ww pastry flour and vital wheat gluten, etc. and it's usually cheaper than at the stand-alone HFS.
Jack-K- I wish it were as easy as just wanting to be thinner and deciding to not eat the fries. That's part of what makes it an eating disorder with me. It's like trying to tell an anorexic to just eat. Unfortunately it doesn't work that way! It's a lot better than it used to be. I just have a very hard time recovering from a binge and getting back on track.
Deb- Love the pics from the race! You are such an inspiration. I used to run cross-country in High School. I may just have to start again so that you can have some SB competition in a couple of years!
Melf- Does Whole Foods have a website? I'd love to see if there's one near me.
Well, must run. My day's not as full as Deb's but throw a male toddler into the mix and every task takes twice as long! :D
See ya!
Kat
Fillise 01-18-2003, 10:58 AM Brrrrrrr--it is cold here! It got down into the teens last night. The water in the Hummingbrid feeder is completly ice.
I have a lot to do to get ready to head for Montgomery this evening. Mostly make sure I have my wardrobe together. Every event has a specific dress code--so requires a specific outfit. My poor little closet has been stretched to its limits!
I also have to be sure to eat well today. I go to a breakfast and a luncheon tomorrow--where I will have to pick around what I'm sure will be lots of bread and potatoes, and pasta (oh yes and sweets), and then it will be a steady diet of reception foods for the next 36 hours. Here's hoping for veggie and cheese trays! I have some SB legal snacks to take with me, but will not really be in the room long enough to do anything except change clothes. Wish me luck!
Kat--I think the toddler really bumps up the activity level in your house!
Quivondra--I'm voting for the hoky poky! You look GREAT! I bet your DD loved his stuff.
Deb--sounds like a busy day!
Quilter--what kind of jewlery are you making?
Who asked about Subway? I don't eat the sandwiches there because I don't think the WW bread is real whole wheat. BUT--they will make any sandwich into a salad for you. In other words they put the stuff from your favorite sandwich on a bed of lettuce and it is quite tasty. Anyway, that's what I get when I go to Subway.
OK--got to go, lots of errands to run before I hit the beauty parlor to get my hair done and eyebrows waxed (Eeeeeoooooowwwww!)
I'll talk to you tuesday!
Susan
PS--weight is holding steady.
YellowRose 01-18-2003, 02:08 PM Meeting in New Orleans sounds like sooooo much fun. I hope I will be able to attend.
Deb: That was great to see the pictures of the race...it brought back some fond memories. You look marvelous!
Melf: I am sorry to hear that you are having trouble with edema and you shoulder hurts. I did hurt mine a bit but
it is slowly coming around with rest. The pampering you and the ladies gave me in Fl. was wonderful and it
helped so much. Next year, I should be healthy and strong and able to help with lifting. It still looks like I will
need to have the operation to the collarbone but I am waiting until I see the doctor Feb 5th to give it one last ditch
chance to start healing. Oh, the tree is down but we are still enjoying the music.
Quivondra: What?! You look great and also look like you are having a grand time.
Solly 01-18-2003, 02:27 PM Good Saturday afternoon.
Just got finished doing the Firm tape. Boy is it a killer. I couldn't keep up to well. Maybe next time I'll do better. Went to the mall this orning to get my DD's diploma and awards framed for her bday. That broke me.
Of course I had to treat myself. I bought a pair of pants for $12.00 and a sweater for $13.00 and another one for $9.00
all at an expensive store. I love bargains. Tonight I want to go to another mall to look for jeans while they are having a 5-% sales. Hope DH will feel like going.
Maemae, Congrats on the job chance. it sounds exciting.
Bob, don't spend you whole weekend cleaning. Snow?
Melf, apple cider tablets for water retention? Nevr heard of that.
ACW, cute FF. I thik we all agree with that one.
Quilter, Hi. glad you dropped in. Sounds like the jewelry making is coming along nicely.
Deb, hope everyting is ok with your Dad. I know you will be glad to have Eli home.
Quiv, loved the pic, you are so pretty. Is it the duck dance?
Mom2Marsh, Any time you need help to get back on track get on here we are here to help you. Good luck.
fillise, You will do fine with yuor eating. Have a wonderful time.
Yellow, I hope your shoulder gets better. I hope you don't n eed an operation.
Got to run the wildcats are on and giving Notre Dame a good beating (right now, but sure it won't last).
have a great weekend.

fruitloupe 01-18-2003, 04:51 PM Happy Saturday everyone!
Just posting a little hello! Cleaned out my closet and I got rid of all of the clothes that are too big for me so that I do not get into them again! I'm getting rid of 5 big garbage bags of clothes - can you imagine? And to think - my closet is still full! Where did all that crap come from?
Sounds like a New Orleans trip is in the works!! Lets talk about a date!! woohooo!!!! :D
See y'all later
missy

what an accomplishment Missy! I'm jealous I've got clothes I'd love to throw out. I seem to live in the same couple of outfits..it's just as well I don't really go anywhere much! I think I have clothes to cover just about every size made! The worst ones are the things I have bought onsale that are at least 2 sizes too small in the "hope" that they'll fit one day caus they were a good bargain at the time!!!
Lovely hot sunday here. DH at work I'm planning to take the kids to the park soon once the baby wakes up and they can get rid of some of their excess energy. We'll take some drinks and a couple of apples and enjoy the nice day. One of those recharge your batteries times!
Am a bit out of kilter this weekend with eating find that often happens when we're all home half op/half off
whoops have to go world war three has broken out betwwen miss 2 and mr 6....
Catch you later have a good one
Anna
Nomoresugar 01-18-2003, 07:50 PM Well, it's a cold cold day and here in south Florida. These bones sure aren't used to cold weather any more!
Gracious - Thanks for the info on guar gum.
Sugarless - A very Happy Birthday to you - a day late!
Fillise - Our Lady of Sugarbusting - ROTFLMAO!
Deb - I hope your Dad is okay. And you look great. What weight gain????
Quivondra - What a great picture! Looking good!
Mom2Marsh - Yes, I have a huge Publix near me - but the flour they carry is just plain Whole Wheat - not Stone ground that I get at Whole Foods.
Fruitloupe - You should be proud of your weight loss - 5 bags of clothes is pretty good!
Have a good evening, all. I'm off to snuggle under my comforter with a good book and a sugar free hot chocolate!!!!
fruitloupe 01-18-2003, 09:23 PM Wait y'all - let me clarify something - It's not that I've lost a lot of weight - I just had WAY tooooo many clothes! They just happen to be 2 sizes too big now! haha! I'm definitely not doing any happy dances here- my eating has been so bad - I'm just trying to get myself back on track and getting rid of those clothes is a step in the right direction. Now I know that I can't gain anything cause I will have to run around NAKED! OH MY!
Ok - see y'all tomorrow!

Great news!! DD has vacated the premises. She is spending her first night in her new home & EVERYONE is happy about it. :D She hugged us as she left & I said "I'm so glad you're finally going to your house" but she said "Not as happy as I am". I'm really excited that she has this new home. If you'd have seen what she had before the hurricane, you'd understand. Vickie works hard & has very little, but she is happy with what she has. She looked so happy tonight & actually looked "younger" if you know what I mean. Daxton had his little arms full of his toys, etc & he was so excited to be bringing them to his "new house."
Anyway, here are a few replies.
Quilter, sounds like you're really enjoying the new jewelry making hobby!
Deb, Sorry to hear your dad is having problems again. Hope this transfusion will be a quick fix for him. Hope you were able to find some good buys at the garage sales, but most of all, hope you & Eli have a great homecoming!
Quivondra, girl you don't look like no heffer! You look great. Is that the Bird you're doing? LOL
Mom2Marsh, I typed in Whole Foods Market in search & then it gives you a place to locate stores near you. That was my first visit to Whole Foods with Deb. Didn't have any idea if there were any in my area, so that's why I did a search. Hope you have one nearby!
Fillise, we didn't get as cold here as it was suppose to & I'm sure glad of it. We were down to 29-30 here this am. That's plenty cold enough.
YellowRose, Glad you & Ray are enjoying the music. Yea, the shoulder is now worse since mid-afternoon when I tried to turn a patient by myself. It's been hurting really bad since then. I sometimes think I have a torn rotater cuff. Guess I'll have to go see a doctor about it one day, but I 'm like you...I just hate the thought of having to have surgery on it. Let us know when you do hear for sure when yours will be.
Jackie, sorry I didn't finish my entry there...should have read apple cider vinegar pills & yes, they do seem to help with excess fluid. They do me like the energizer bunny. I keep going & going & going. Problem is I forget to take them. Henceforth, I've still got these swollen legs of mine.
Missy, sounds like you did a great job cleaning that closet. Would you like to come over for a visit? ;)
acw, hope you were successful in stopping that war. :D Enjoy the park!
Got to go. Getting late & I need to iron a uniform for tomorrow. Night all!
aleka 01-19-2003, 09:06 AM I've been absent from these boards for awhile, I was still trying to muddle through the SB book. I think I have it down now. I finally found some s/f bread called, Whole Wheat Farm Bread. I'm not sure if this bread is legal or not. The ing. are Unbleached wheat flour, stone ground organically grown whole wheat flour, cracked wheat, & sea salt. I'm not sure if the SGWW flour being the second ingredient instead of the first, would make it illegal.
Aleka
sweetbeater 01-19-2003, 10:10 AM Hey, first chance I have had to post all week. WIF was good to me, another 2# 170/164/135. Dh also lost 2# but the best news was the lab results from my physical my cholesterol was 196 down from 212 and all other lipid numbers were way improved even triglycerides. So even if the weight is not just dropping off I am benefitting immensely. Just had to share. Have a great Sunday all.
sugarless 01-19-2003, 11:52 AM Thank you to all for the birthday whishes.
My moms birthday is today so I have been out all weekend since friday spending time with family. Anyways I am off to shop talk to you all later.:D
THE BIG ORANGE BABE 01-19-2003, 02:22 PM GO BUCS!!!!!!
gracious 01-19-2003, 03:13 PM Popping in to read up on things.
QUIV- I vote for the chicken too. You look great, btw!
QUILTER- What kind of jewellery..give us details.
Serene 01-19-2003, 04:49 PM I'm with you on this one BOB, GO BUCS!
Trying to write a post while watching the game - be back later to catch up.
Wendy
Serene 01-19-2003, 05:06 PM I have some pictures from our lingerie fashion show in Orlando but just haven't posted them. Deb said I had to post them or else! :censored: :yikes:
Please let me know if anyone that was in the fashion show doesn't want theirs posted. I will wait a couple of days to see if I hear from anyone about it.
:smug:
Debelli 01-19-2003, 05:52 PM Hey All:wave:
Sorry I've been elusive over the weekend, not intentional, just with Michael and Lauren playing "HOG THE COMPUTER" along with everything else going on, it was hard to find some time to get on here and post. Not sure if things will be much better this week, kids still have some of their mid-terms to study for, no school tomorrow, having family over for Lauren's birthday tomorrow night, even though her bday isn't til Tuesday, which she already has decided she wants me to take her out to dinner.
Went to the art show at the UofM today, only saw 2 artists I thought had something new and unusual-wasn't too impressed this year. Not that I'm an art enthusiast but I sure like seeing unusual art. Afterwards, went out with my sister and a few of her kids to lunch and a couple stores. Parent's are coming over in a few minutes to visit. Saw them at the art show. Dad looks okay and now just has to make an appt for a colonoscopy to see if there's anything going on in there. Hope not!
ELI is back and back at the place he loves - not in my arms you sillies, at Starbucks!!! They wined and dined them big time. He came home with so much stuff. He got a nice watch that has a SB logo on it, among other things. Was nice to have him home, that was until he turned off the heater and we all froze or butts off!
It was so nice to see the results of this weeks poll and to know that we are not the only ones who live like slobs!!;)
Okay, I've been requested to exit the computer area - geez, can't a Mom get a break??? Oh well, as I always say, school work before computer work.
Will be back later tonight if I'm able, otherwise I will get my butt out of my nice cozy bed in the morning and get the new board up and running. I have 2 great MOTIVATIONAL MONDAY messages to post tomorrow, one in particular I really like!
Will try to catch up with everyone come tomorrow!!
