nasus40 09-19-2002, 06:32 AM Morning chickies!! coffee is hot and wonderful!!! BRB need another cup!
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
MMMM good!
WEll another day at the grind!! It is more the run run run for the kids that gets me tired as much as the work my tail till it falls off. I did exercise yesterday while the boys were swiming (2-3 days of the week) I was at the Y so i just poped up there and walked. I did not have the energy to run but i did do some organized stuff! and i sure felt better. atleast i did not feel like i was wasting my time doing nothing!! but sit there. and i felt so bad about not exercising that i had to do something.
I had planned on responding to everybody from yesterday (I started last night) but i do not have enough coffee in me yet to get that going yet. but i do have to go and exercise. I will say that i had an eyeopener yesterday. from a post on one of the 100's club. about PCOS. i think that i have that problem! looking at the symptoms i have much if not almost al of them. but i have been lowcarbing and exercising for so long that my cholseterol levels are good and the insulin is low (untill i over do it) so i do not know if that would help get a diagnosis. but i certainly have the facial hair and many of the other symptoms. I am pulling new hair out of my face daily. it is redicilious. i feel that soon i will have to start to shave!! So if any of you girls have any idea how to convince my doc ro suggestions that would help to bring to her with info to make her see that i am not a hypocondric. ( not to mention that i never go and see her) but i feel that this is truly a problem and i do need to get this stoped before i can sit in the circus as the bearded lady!
well have to run to exercise or i will be a slug al day!
L144S 09-19-2002, 07:32 AM Morning Chickies!
Off to the gym this morning for the class with the woman with the killer bod. It is a treangth training class. I was still sore yesterday but still managed to go for a 45 min SLOW walk.
Picture day was very well organized. I think the biggest problem if the fake smiles for the little kids and the braces for the older kids. Shoot those things cost 5 grand these days, for the love of Mike SHOW ‘EM!!!
I have lunch with a friend today and religious school for older boy, karate for little man and “back to School Night” with DH. I think I will be ready for bed by the time I find it tonight.
Be well My friends and have a good day, It is looking like a wonderful end of summer here in Massachusetts.
Ruthxxx 09-19-2002, 07:55 AM Morning, Chicklettes! I can hardly type this morning as my hands are giving me grief! It sure is time for the wrist operation as this is getting stupid.
Miss Lucy and I have already been for a walk this morning - had to take a report to the Office for someone to pick up on his way to work at 7. Now the little demon is gobbling her breakfast like she is starving.
My fridge is sooooo clean! I must have spent hours on it yesterday morning. Can anyone tell me how dog hair gets UNDER the crispers? :shrug: The grass guy did NOT show after all yesterday - truck trouble - so I took out my frustrations on the fridge.
Groceries and laundry on the agenda today with more dog training. What a boring life! :D
Have a great day everyone. :wave:
debkay 09-19-2002, 08:18 AM HI all!
Ruth, you live anything BUT a boring life :lol: You wear me out just reading your posts.
L I agree on the braces thing, if the kiddies have them, show them. I have pictures of all three of my kids showing off the braces in school picturs. Thankfully that is all over now, for all of them. Daughter (the youngest) had her's taken off in July.
Can't remember a lot from yesterdays daily, I have the CRS problem too!!
Jiff hope the knee is better soon, ole Maggie needs you to walk with her.
DebbieA, the baseball question.........if you answered Yankees, peachie would be happy. If you answered Brave's I would be happy, if you answered Met's Sam's grandma would be happy. So you see, there really is not a good answer for this bunch :rolleyes: Now the football question, since your in TN, I must assume Titan's. Giant's for peachie, Redskin's for me and for Sam's grandma I don't know. Are we a weird bunch or what!!
Prepare, here I go with the band stuff :lol: I have decided to do sugar cookies and peanut butter cookies for my bus this Friday night.
For me today, housecleaning, grocery store and chaperoning band practice this afternoon.
Is anyone a Survivor fan???? If you are don't forget tonight is the first show of the new group.
Have a great one all
Debbie
goodforme 09-19-2002, 08:24 AM Good morning everyone! Got up on time today, it's a miracle! Now a little cleaning up and get ready for work, just til tomorrow, I can make it!
Sue, if you can convince your doc you have PCOS I will pay you a million dollars. :lol: Really, I have been telling my gp for 9 years now that my gyno diagnosed me with it, and only this year does he start to believe me! The only thing I know about the hair growth is that excess androgens cause it, so you could get tested for the hormones and see what happens. Good luck!
Gotta run get the phone, who the heck calls at this time of the day? Talk to you later!
Leenie 09-19-2002, 08:45 AM Good Morning Kids,
:D <----- just a smile for the day.
Love, Leenie :chef"
peach pit 09-19-2002, 09:04 AM I bet Sam's grandma says.....JETS!
scooby2 09-19-2002, 09:08 AM Morning ladies - once again I have been among the missing. Just sat here drinking coffee and catching up, (AGAIN). Sounds like everyone is crazy busy, so I am not alone, DH's cousin died and he has been in WV all week.
DebbieA - you are not far from me, I live in Halls Crossroads, or North of Knoxville if you are familiar with the area.
Nasus - we certainly don't want you to become the bearded lady!!!
Ruth - you make me tired just reading how much you do in a day!!!!
Janice - good luck with whatever you decide, i have considered the lipocustion thing but I really want to lose 20 more lbs first.
To all the rest of you have a fabulous Thursday!!!!!!!
2BFIT1 09-19-2002, 09:25 AM Good Morning Ladies :wave:
DebbieA~~Sorry that I missed your posts recently. So, WELCOME to the group. :grouphug:
Today I hope to get in the back yard and pull a few weeds. That does NOT mean that there are only a few out there :eek: But I need to make some kind of dent in it.
I'm also sewing a stuffed kids chair for one of my dogs. It's kinda like one of those backrest pillows that you use to sit up in bed with, but it has a bottom seat also. She is a 5# Yorkie, and loves to lie next to me while I'm at the computer. So since I'm redoing this room with some animal print accents, I'm making her chair with dark brown pinwale cordury and leopard-print faux-fur . She will look so cute on it.
Sue~~Remember, tweezers are your friend:D
L~~~Enjoy your workout at the gym.
Ruth~~~Your life is not boring. You are very fortunate to be able to do want ever you want to do (or not do) ;)
Deb~~Yes, I am a Survivor fan and also a CSI fan!!! I've been waiting for the new season to start. Thursday is MY TV night :cb:
Hello to Leens, Peach and Sherri and all to come :flow2:
2BFIT1 09-19-2002, 09:33 AM Rachel~I don't think that we have met yet. So HELLO and WELCOME :goodvibes
Jennifer 3FC 09-19-2002, 10:02 AM Sue, go to this page and click on 'what blood tests should be done?' and it will give you a list of blood tests and the values you should have.
http://www.inciid.org/faq/pcos2.html#2.9
You don't have to have all to have the syndrome. My cholesterol is good also. I have been told you should not eat a low carb diet for several days prior to the insulin test so you can get an accurate number of what the body does under normal carb consumption. I would ask your gynocologist instead of a GP.
Off to the treadmill! Yuck, how I hate the basement.
liz321 09-19-2002, 11:54 AM Good morning to you all! Life is good...nice to see my old friends! I'll be back!
Liz
FlyAway 09-19-2002, 01:05 PM Good Morning All!
I've been sneaking around the past few days here, reading posts and chatting a little. I really like your community and so far have felt very welcome. Hope I can keep up with you all and make some new friends along the way.
This morning was :dizzy: crazy for me. Sleeping so sound knowing I didn't have to wake up for work today when at 4:45AM the phone rings. It was an AT&T collect call but all I could hear were a lot of people talking and music playing before the caller hung up on me. I was frantic. First thought was that it was someone trying to call from a hospital, etc. Before I could get too worked up the phone rang again. Same collect call operator but this time a foreign man says "You have a collect call from the Philippines, would you accept?" I was so mad! I practically screamed NO and of course my pay back for being angry was me not being able to go back to bed. Anyway, my awakeness lead me to the kitchen...enough said. I've already gone over my carbs for the day and it's only 11AM. Oh well.
I'll hush now. Wanted to say hello and rant. Hope you all have a wonderful day!
2BFIT1 09-19-2002, 02:25 PM LIZ AND FLY AWAY: WELCOME TO THE GROUP
:D :D :D :D :D :D
dyan_q 09-19-2002, 02:54 PM Happy Thursday! I've been trying all week to get a new car loan financed, what a bunch of stress. I've never bought a "new" car before. My last car was a 77, so it's kinda like being in a time warp to go to a 2001. Nothing has been finalized, so I'm still on pins and needles.
I finally broke the plateau I was on. Lost 1/2 lb. Maybe I need more stress in my life? LOL Actually I'm sure it's because I gave up diet drinks.
Sue - Go to the Dr. armed with the info you have. I type up a list of my symptoms, and then get reference materials before I go.
L - I just got pictures of my DStep-S back. When we had them taken the photographer told him to smile and show his teeth. So he did, he opened his mouth up like he was going to the dentist. AHHHH!
Ruth - If you get furstrated again, come on down and have at my fridge.
Deb & Sil- I haven't gotten into Survivor, but I love Big Brother 3, and CSI. I'll probably watch tonite to see if I can't get into it or not.
Everyone else - hello, welcome, and welcome back! (You know which pertains to you!)
It's good to see more southerners getting on here. Next Chick-meet can be in the south, ya'll can come down to the beach.
Pooky 09-19-2002, 05:25 PM I'm here super quick in and out, fast as lightning--gotta board meeting gotta run and get stuff done! SEEEEEE YAAAAAAA.......
DebbieA 09-19-2002, 06:19 PM Afternoon girls:cb:
I see you girls have been busy again today. It is great to come in from work and read everyone's post.
Today was crazy at school, didn't even have time to finish my lunch for the phone ringing. By the time I got home I was so hungrey. First rule for any plan...Keep some 'legal' snacks in the house. My husband quit drinking beer about 3 months ago and since has starting eating all kinds of Snacks. He's skinny as a rail and can eat anything. {makes me sick...LOL} Well here all this stuff is staring at me and I am looking for something as a quick snack. Finally I found some frozen cracker bolonga and with a couple of slices of cheese I had my legal snack. Going to the store tomorrow and buy me alot of good stuff. Man....that was close!:eek:
Hope everyone had a great day. Need to start supper.
Later...debbie:dancer:
LindaBC 09-19-2002, 08:43 PM Hi everybody. I've been in and out of here off and on all day when I get a chance but haven't had time to post yet.
I have a leaky bathroom toilet so I have a bucket on each side of it and, although they're filling slowly, I have to keep my eyes on them. I also took the opportunity to give the floor in there a good scrub and tried to bleach the tile grout where it seems to be getting mildewed.
I baked a peach/blueberry crisp for dh's dessert tonight. Of course, I had to have a nibble of it. In fact, I've been on a bit of a binge this afternoon. It started with the apple at 3 pm (my planned snack) but that triggered carb cravings. I thought I'd subdue them with some slices of chicken so I had them. That didn't work and I moved on to the fresh from the oven dessert (very yummy but that's beside the point) and this was followed by crackers with butter and cheese. I'm sure this is all a backlash from my potluck luncheon yesterday when I had small portions of just about everything on the table. I thought I could get back in the Fat Flush groove today but it's proving to be harder than usual. I'm so disappointed with myself for not having more self control, even though I know it's a physical problem, not mental, I somehow feel I should have a tighter grip on myself.
Anyhow, that's my sad confession. I won't bore you with it any longer.
Gosh, you are all so busy. You know, even when my kids were young I don't remember being as frantically on-the-go as some of you gals. Do kids really have to be carted around to so many different functions these days? It seems awfully stressful to me. But then, I suppose times have changed.
I had to laugh at your stories about school photos and kids with braces. Our older daughter had braces for several years, right when she was at the most homely, awkward age so the braces didn't help matters. Then suddenly, at 15 or 16 off they came, her figure developed and she emerged like a butterfly from a coccoon. Yikes! How did that happen? Of course, she wanted me to burn any and all photos of her during her braces years but I didn't. hehehehe
Our younger daughter didn't need braces but where her sister was scrawny, she was chunky, so she suffered the mortification of not being able to wear the cute size 4 s and 6s that her pals were wearing. I sure could relate to that. I don't think I'd go back to being an adolescent even if it was possible and I was paid a fortune. :p Who needs the agony?
DH just stopped in to say he'd be late home tonight. So what else is new? The only difference this time is that he's giving me advance warning. :lol: There just aren't enough hours in the day for that guy. He makes so many promises to people to do this job and that job and then he ends up exhausted because he's only human (but don't tell him I said that) :^:
Very windy today with rain squalls and then sun.
Tomorrow I go to older daughter's with a friend to get our hair trimmed. And, yes, I do pay her the going rate. No discount for family, unfortunately. She's a workaholic like her Dad so at least I can get a little visit with her while my hair is done.
Well, that's about it for me. See ya tomorrow.
peach pit 09-19-2002, 09:10 PM Now serving decaf!
Nothing much new here. Been taking mom with me to run errands in the morning....sorry about that Jiff...I am sure you have seen the fridge! Mom still buys food like there are six of us at her house. Now it is just mom and the gal with the stomach surgery and she doesn't eat a whole lot!
Woke the little guy up this morning and he squinted his little eyes open and said in a most dramatic fashion, "don't worry about me mom, I'm....dead." Then he kicked me in the shins 'cause the bus was early.
My nails are a trashy sort of silver and the gal filed them so they are squared off. I am having trouble with nails that have right angles. Don't get the idea that my nails are long, they are not.
oh well, so much for the excitement in my life....weigh in tomorrow...YIKES!
Dh and the big kid are home...so I' ll run!
jiffypop 09-19-2002, 10:02 PM well, hi there peachie dear. for a dead kid, my nephew sure makes a lot of commotion, doesn't he?? and i'm sure your nails look lovely, especially with the trashy silver on them. and now we all know what your errands are like: FOOD!!!!! and the frig was basically cleaned out as of last weekend!!!
i'm not buying mom any more food!!!!
today wasn't bad. the knee doesn't hurt as much as it did yesterday, but it's still uncomfortable. thank goodness for drugs!!! and i got up convinced that i would resist maggie, but i couldn't!!! she lay down and looked at me. she talked to me. she sat and stared at her leash. she talked to me some more. she danced. and pranced. and stared at her leash. i caved. and we walked only about a half mile. and it was so late that we ran into a couple of kindergarten girls with their moms. maggie was ALMOST well behaved. she wiggled and waggled and loved the girls' attention, but she did try to jump on them. and then the girls were so happy that they started jumping, and so did maggie.. we had to leave.
and the good news is that hte insurance company finally paid a $2500+ bill from LAST DECEMBER's outpatient surgery. what a mess!!!! but it's over.
and a big welcome to debbie A and fly away... so glad you decided to hang out with us. and i've missed you, scooby!!! and with all these tennessee belles with us, does this mean we have to go to nashville soon?? i hear the barbecue [there's that obesssion again!!!] is better in memphis. and memphis has the blues... [if beale street could talk.. a great old song]
can i have a peanut butter cookie, deb??? please??? it's protein, isn't it????
love you all... hope you have a great day tomorrow..
nasus40 09-19-2002, 11:10 PM I use the tweasers but keep finding new ones every day and only pluck the darkest ones. i have about 50 that are not darkenough to pluck but still are think and long. i found 3 up on my cheek today!!! they must have snuck up there!!!
thanks jennifer i know my cholesterol is good as it was bad before i went total low carb for a while then it just turned fantastic!! between low carb and exercise. thanks for the list of blood tests. i use my gp for everything i do not have a gyny. i do not even know who is good around here to get a referal!i guess i will have to start asking at work! In fact it has been a year since i have seen the doc!! I am too healthy!
too all wow and i thought my day was busy.
I will say that the boys are getting much better with the swimming and DS1 actually made a sound from his trumpet that actually soundedlike it might have been a note instead of a dead cow. (sorry to all the cows)
for me it is off to bed!!!
Pooky 09-19-2002, 11:18 PM Very late for me to post but I've had the most exhausting day. Went to Barrie to buy my babe some fall and winter clothes at Value Village, picked up my gran along the way. Miree had MAJOR MELTDOWNS all day and by the time dh came home I was tired, hot, stressed and biting heads off. I left for my board meeting early to get my bearings and pull myself together. The meeting was long and it went well and I'm actually in a coherent state of mind, albeit very tired. Gratefuly, I schedule Miree in for a whole day at daycare tomorrow becasue I just couldn't take another day like this. If anything, I will be able to catch up on housework and relax a little.
So I'm off to bed now--night, night...
SonoGranny 09-20-2002, 12:04 AM Sheesh! I finally have time to post today! I've popped in a couple of times, but never had time to respond to anyone :dizzy: Busy, busy........ had (what I think was a) good job interview today - I'm keeping my fingers, toes AND EYES crossed on this one! Part-time to start, meaning 3 - 5 shifts per week (a shift being 2 - 4 hours: either 9-1 or 3-7), gas expense and also any tolls paid...... leading to (almost) full time ( about 8 shifts per week) by the end of the year or early January...... interesting work, too.......... mostly with spinal injuries, doing sonos of the spinal cord and surrounding area........
DH has an audition tomorrow for a commercial to be shot in TORONTO for 4 days, and I would be allowed to go!!!!!! :cb: ... what does anyone want to bet that if he gets the job, so will I and I will have to start on the day he leaves for Toronto!?!?!?!
Oh yes, about that football...... will Peachie and Jif hate me if I don't say "Jets"? Actually, the fact of the matter is that the ONLY sport I follow is baseball, and you all know where my heart lies!! (now if only those guys would remember what it is we pay them all those bucks for doing!!!!!)
Wow! a trip to Nashville OR Memphis sounds delicious.... but hey! What's happening with Cortland????? Still on? Jif, can we meet someplace and maybe travel together or in caravan? Is that doable? I WANNA GO!!!
Hello and welcome to Fly Away and DebbieA (if I didn't already welcome you -- I've mentioned that I suffer from CRS and CRAFT, didn't I? :lol: )
Scooby and Peach.... great to see you back!
Sil, you're welcome to come and sew and/or garden at my house anytime!
Ruth.... my fridge can certainly use your attention!!!;)
Sue, Pooky and LindaBC -- you're all just too busy for me! I'm exhausted just reading your posts! But Linda, I'm with you-- sooo glad that the kids are grown and on their own: no more schlepping them around!
Anyone I've forgotten....... my apologies, my brain is turning to mush.... I guess it's past my bedtime-tomorrow is an early manicure/pedicure............ g'nite all!
