jeweliek 04-13-2008, 06:16 PM Hello Ladies and Donuts,
I took it upon myself to start a new thread. It was soooooo long with the other one.
I forgot to report here that I did my 5K on Saturday (it was so windy that it took my breath away) and finished in 35 min and 52 sec!!!!
exsquisit 04-13-2008, 06:22 PM Thanks for the new thread Jewelie! Great job on the 5k and thanks for the menu info.
jeweliek 04-13-2008, 06:49 PM np
Not sure who was looking for ideas on food, but....
My reg meals......
Breakfast
Oatmeal Pancakes
French Toast with an extra egg
1 oz shredded cheese with 1 egg mixed and make a open faced fried egg sammy
lemon poppyseed muffins
deviled eggs
lemon cheesecake dip with cinn. tortilla chips
Lunch
I am WAY into lettuce wraps right now
Tuna wrap with gr. pepper, celery, gr onion and bean sprouts is good. I use ranch to make it "wet"
Chicken diced with some ranch and veggies makes an excellent wrap.
Spaghetti and meat balls made with spaghetti squash and turkey or buffalo meat balls
Meatball wraps work nicely in the lettuce and I use the raw tomato sauce from 3MM for this. You can put spaghetti squash in it to add veggies.
Stuffed mushrooms are great
Taco Salad
Stuffed Green Peppers YUM!
Leftovers from the night before
Supper
White Bean Chili - this is just WAY too good!
Chicken nuggets
Breaded Chicken
Breaded Cod
Fish Tacos
meatloaf
Judy's Famous Chili (the ONLY time I like the tomato HNS)
I made Adobo Pork Tenderloin that was SOOOO good the other day
Buffalo steak is good when I can find it at a good price
exsquisit 04-13-2008, 06:54 PM Where can I find Judy's famous chili recipe? Is it in the cookbook?
blueyedangel 04-13-2008, 07:02 PM Just thought I'd add a few to the meal ideas. I can't get buffalo anywhere around here. I'm on the green menu so adjust protein if you need to:
Stuffed green peppers made with ground turkey, use tomato HNS instead of tomato sauce or soup (However you normally prepare it) One of my FAVORITES
Cream of Chicken HNS with 4 oz. of cutup chicken breast & 2 oz green beans, green onions. Add a 4 oz salad to get the rest of your vege's. Fast Easy & YUMMY + gets in an HNS
Grill 8 oz. of shrimp. Eat 4 oz. and add some vege's. Use the other 4 oz. the next day on a salad with Italian dressing.
Turkey meatloaf (one pound of ground turkey makes 4 servings. Add 4 oz. green pepper, mushrooms, green onion.) Have with 3 oz. cooked vege. or 7 oz. salad
Chili made with ground turkey
Deviled eggs (no mayo, use mustard)
French toast flavor with cinnamon, maple extract, splenda. Add a fried egg or 1 oz. of cheese for the rest of your protein.
Baked apple (core, fill with some cinnamon & splenda & spray with ICBINB)
Fried apple (use a little ICBINB, cinnamon, splenda)
Cinnamon toast
Rotisserie chicken from the grocery deli (I get the breast the rest is for everyone else)
Leftover chicken on flatbread (i cut 100 cal bread in 1/2) throw on some lettuce, tomato, cucumber...
Bake a turkey breast
Grill some scallops
If you go out to eat & order an 8 oz. steak. Immediately cut it in half to take home. The next day you can have a steak salad with lite Italian dressing... Yummy!!
Grilled chicken on lettuce salad.

jeweliek 04-13-2008, 07:06 PM I will put Judy's Chili Recipe and the Crockpot chicken (tastes like rot. chick. to me) in the recipe thread.

Great Menu ideas! I made a "Fiesta Ranch" dip today. It is so good! You make it the same way as the Ranch dip using cottage cheese and the Hiden Valley Ranch packet. I am afraid to get too creative. Right now I am eating chicken and turkey with salads and veggies. I will probably branch out soon. I like what I am eating and I don't mind it (yet). Meal time is fine for me. I eat when it is time or if I start to get hungry. I am afraid to start looking forward to eating because that might make me have further cravings and go off plan! My big indulgence right now is my nightly hot chocolate!
I see that you live in Missourri. I had lunch with NWAloser and WorkingARmom on Friday. We would all love to meet you sometime. I think you are maybe 80 or so miles from us. Would you like to see if we could come up with a plan to meet sometime?:)
blueyedangel 04-13-2008, 07:26 PM Redgirl - That'd be fun! I just work all the freakin time! LOL And, hubby may be going to nights, so with 4 kids it might get tricky. Will see what might work out tho! :-)
Goal4Life 04-13-2008, 07:36 PM blueeyed....be careful on the steak for lunch. My center doesn't allow it, you might want to check your menu, as it could cause a slow down (unless it is buffalo steak, then it is ok). I have had it when there were no other choices, and didn't notice a change, but I probably would if I did it often. Seems red meat slows me down. I only eat it 1 time a week, and when I plataeu I don't eat it at all.

Thanks for starting the new thread. And great job on the 5K. That is awesome!
Also, msteacher from the other thread....look how far you have come! You've lost what 47 lbs. That is fab! You are going to make it to onderland. Do not give up!
Way to go Rockie on signing the 20lb board. WoooHooo! Super!
Most of what I eat has already been mentioned. I don't venture too far out either. I do make parmesan chicken every once in a while. Sprinkle the parm on chicken breast and cook in a little evoo! It is really good.
I hope everyone is a loser this week!;)
losingforhealth 04-13-2008, 09:22 PM Jewlie Thanks for the new thread.
Also I wanted to share this recipe for mayo
as an alternative to the MRC recipe this taste as near to treal Mayo that I have ever used.

Thanks for pointing that out. I did it once and had the salad for my dinner. I have only had steak 2x during this whole experience (DH ate the rest of my steak the other time!). And, not for about 10 days...and I still have little scale movement. I just get so tired of :chicken:! LOL
I think I will ask them to measure me next time. Especially if I don't lose much - just so I can at least see some sort of progress.
losingweightnow 04-13-2008, 10:56 PM Thanks so much for the new thread!!! I haven't been able to keep up with the others they move so fast! I miss all of you!! Hopefully life will start to return to normal this week and I will be back to visit... See you soon!

jeweliek 04-14-2008, 12:04 AM I got brave....if you click on my profile you will see me at my heaviest in the before. It was about 230#. I had lost a bit before trying MRC. Then the new avatar and the current image are from today. Hope you like.
I am a work in progress. I cannot wait to hit goal and start stabilization. I really want to up my exercise and next year I want to do a half marathon.
Rocki 04-14-2008, 12:04 AM Thank you EVERYONE for all the meal ideas. For lunch I had chicken cole slaw (chopped up purple cabbage and slaw mix and added apple cider vinegar, light mayo, splenda and dijonaisse). It was okay, but not as good as the first few times. That's my problem, I find something I like and it grows old fast. I made the rest of my ground bison into taco meat and froze two portions so I'll have a "quick" lunch or dinner by just thawing the meat. That I really liked last time but the leftovers sat for days and ended up getting thrown out. I really have a hard time with salads (no matter how much I weight it down). It's easier for me to just eat 4oz of cooked broccoli and be done with it. I do like a "chef salad" w/low sodium turkey and a bit of cheese, lots of cukes, mushrooms and tomatoes. I'll have to do that again in the next few days.
Jewelie..Congrats on the 5K. I did 2 miles @ the gym yesterday but didn't make it today so I didn't even get my 3.1 miles in. How do you do breaded meats? Do you buy lowfat, or do you "bread" them yourself? If you bread them how do you do it?
Crystal..4 Kids! OMG! I'm going insane with my TWO girls lately! :) Sorry for the stalling scale, I know how frustrating that can be. Good luck this week.
I'm tired and have to get my Ebay stuff packed up for shipment (I sold a bunch of Pampered Chef stuff that had been sitting here for a while).
I'll "see" you all in the AM. I plan on weighing on my home scale to see whether I should even bother to go to MRC. I don't want to go just to see the scale back below 20lbs again. The only reason I want to go is b/c if I lose there's some big contest going on. No sense in WI if I've gained. Then I'll have wasted time and won nothing other than aggravation! :)

Wow! You look great! I love to see the transformations! I hope you hit goal soon! I like your goal of a half marathon. I ran a half marathon about 4 years ago. It was a test of endurance for me. I really had to work hard and stay dedicated to train. I highly reccomend finding a running group or partner to train with. I haven't been out running in a while. It was love/hate relationship for me! I didn't enjoy the runs but I loved how I felt afterward! I know you can do it. Your dedication to getting healthy is awesome!:)
WorkingARMom 04-14-2008, 12:20 AM Redgirl - That'd be fun! I just work all the freakin time! LOL And, hubby may be going to nights, so with 4 kids it might get tricky. Will see what might work out tho! :-)
How old are your kids? Maybe we could meet in Joplin on a Saturday afternoon.

Jeweliek,
you look great! No wonder your sisters are jealous - keep up the great work and you'll be on maintenance in no time! :)
3monkeysmomma 04-14-2008, 12:57 AM Jewelik I just saw your before photo, my goodness a world of difference. You have so much to be proud of, so you have really lost like 64 lbs. I would sooo put that on my signature and show off every single pound, none of it was easy.
I forgot to add to the menu earlier grilled cheese sandwich, at breakfast. This is what I had today, chicken cube steak (its like how they do cube steak but with chicken all flat and hammered lol) I put some garlic flavored melba toast in the food processor and added garlic powder, onion powder, sea salt, pepper and ground it up, then I ran the chicken under water for a sec the coated it with the melba crumbs and sprinkled it with some "chicken seasoning Mrs Dash" and fried it in a skillet with a little evoo, after it was done I put a slice on muenster cheese on top and let it get all melty, I had spinach with it. I don't eat alot of chicken, I get tired of it quick and it is always so dry unless you cook a whole chicken but this was pretty good, it had some crunch and the cheese really added to it.
Crystal maybe there is a place online to find buffalo, I saw a commercial on TV the other day first time ever I have seen it that advertised for mail order buffalo. If you can find buffalo your whole world will change, lol. It tastes like beef. The steaks are pricy but the ground buffalo at Market Street here is only 4.99 a pound and I am the only one who eats it mostly. I feed the rest of my family beef. I'll look online and see what I can find.
Meemo 04-14-2008, 01:10 AM Couple of things from the last thread...
Meemo: Thanks for posting the Chicken Saagwala recipe. Looks interesting. BTW, do you know that there is a fairly new Indian restaurant that opened in FWB?
No - more info please! We were so disappointed when Nim's in Destin closed! (I heard there's a new Greek place in Shalimar too but haven't looked for it yet.)
[QUOTE=jeweliek;2148773]One time a week you can have both. Just have 1/4 serving of cheese and 3/4 serving of the protein you want with it. (or 1/2 and 1/2 if you want) Just watch that you only do this once a week.
I never heard the no more than once a week rule. I frequently had half a serving of cheese & half a serving of eggs for breakfast. Interesting. Wonder if it's a new rule?
Meemo 04-14-2008, 01:12 AM Hello Ladies and Donuts,

I forgot to report here that I did my 5K on Saturday (it was so windy that it took my breath away) and finished in 35 min and 52 sec!!!!
Love your new pic!
I did my second 5K today - DH joined me this time.
angierue 04-14-2008, 01:21 AM Golly bum! It just took me almost an hour to read through the old thread and get caught up on this one. You guys have been chatty!!!! ;)
Julie - HOT MOMMA! You look great! Totally an inspiration!
Rocki - Woohoo on the 20 lb board! Hopefully you'll see a loss in the morning and you can go weigh in to participate in the contest. (I wish my center had more contests).
Red - Yay on the 10 lb board! Keep up the awesome work!
Crap. There's more but I've already forgotten. I know there were some great losses this week. Everyone rocks and I am so proud of all of us!!!
As for me... I've been a little into the self sabotage myself. I keep having these little "moments" where I have something off plan. Or I eat things out of order. Yesterday, I was just in a funk (literally stayed in my pj's all day long) and didn't feel like doing or eating much. I had a meal replacement bar with an HNS for breakfast. Then I napped a lot. For dinner, I baked some french fries I have had in the freezer forever and made a smoothie with my vanilla HNS and some frozen fruit. (It was freakin' awesome, btw)
Today, I had a meal replacement bar and another fruit smoothie for breakfast and then Arby's for dinner. The turkey wrap with some of the fries (only ate about 1/2 of them).
Most of my problem was because I haven't been to the grocery store all week and I was out of my fall back foods (easy veggies and chicken). Plus I'm just getting so sick of cooking. I hate cooking. I hate cleaning up even more. But I know it's the right thing and something I have got to do so I'm back on track.
I went to the store tonight and stocked up on the things I know will help keep me focused. I'm about to go make up some of the cottage cheese/lemon pudding HNS so I can have something to "grab and go" for breakfast tomorrow.
Oh, NSV today... I bought these two shirts at Goody's last year (just nice v-neck t-shirts) and when I got home, they were WAY too tight to wear out in public. I tried one of them one a couple of weeks ago and it definitely fit better but was still a little too tight. Well, I am wearing that shirt with PRIDE today! It is not tight at all and looks awesome on me (if I do say so myself... and I do). :) I might wear the other one to work tomorrow with my khaki pants. :)
I know I always say it, but I will try much harder to keep caught up with you all this week! I'm going to weigh in tomorrow so will try to come back and update after I'm done. Good luck to everyone that weighs in tomorrow!! :)

Thank you to everyone that complimented me on my new pic!!!
Crystal may want to contact Anderson Farms. They are the people that come here and sell their bison. Ground is only $4/pound. He is from Towner, ND. I grew up not far from there. I really think their family is AWESOME. I bet he would be willing to ship some out.
anyway email him at ranand@srt.com
I hope this works for you!!!!
3monkeysmomma 04-14-2008, 01:40 AM Here are a few links I found online to buy buffalo/bison

Meemo....you can do eggs and cheese. That is an option in Group 1, but you cannot combine cheese with group 2 or 3 proteins more than once a week. At least that is what we are told here. LOL
jeweliek 04-14-2008, 01:44 AM Love your new pic!
I did my second 5K today - DH joined me this time.
Thank you! Good job on doing the 5k. My husband and I walked it just a bit ago tonight. It was soooo nice.

You will get back on track. I did have a weak moment last night when everyone went to DQ! but, we all go right back into it.
Good job on the shirts, see that is the inspiration to get back OP and continue forward!!!
jeweliek 04-14-2008, 02:12 AM Jewelie..Congrats on the 5K. I did 2 miles @ the gym yesterday but didn't make it today so I didn't even get my 3.1 miles in. How do you do breaded meats? Do you buy lowfat, or do you "bread" them yourself? If you bread them how do you do it?:)
About breading meats......I love to bread chicken and cod.
Anyway, I grind up melba toast in a blender then add seasoning to it.
Place this mix in a zip top baggie
You can either slightly dampen the meat or dredge in egg whites and then into the melba toast mix. Place on a wire rack that is on a cookie sheet. Spray with Pam and bake.
To make it a bit crunchier you can use 1/2 melba and 1/2 of your tortilla shell that has been coarsely ground in a food processor. I do this with my chicken nuggets. The boys like mine so much that they get upset when I buy the premade.
You can freeze your nuggets too. Place on a cookie sheet in the freeze until frozen and then transfer to a zip top freezer bag. Pull out as needed.
Meemo 04-14-2008, 02:17 AM Meemo....you can do eggs and cheese. That is an option in Group 1, but you cannot combine cheese with group 2 or 3 proteins more than once a week. At least that is what we are told here. LOL
DOH! Senior moment - I forgot about that. But I did do cheese & chicken on my salads pretty often - either I didn't point that out on my food sheets or they didn't care because they never said anything. (And they did love to circle my transgressions - I figured every circled item was a strike against me if I ever tried to invoke my guarantee LOL!)
jeweliek 04-14-2008, 02:21 AM Wow!
I have never been a big distance runner, but I love it. I am sooooo addicted.
How do I go about finding a running group??? Everything that I am doing now I have found online.
Meemo 04-14-2008, 02:31 AM Had another epiphany today...
I'd mentioned before that I was going to try using half egg-whites & half whey protein in my homemade HNS. Tried that yesterday & liked it much better than all whey protein - lighter taste AND fewer calories. So that was a hit for me. (Just don't let it set too long if you're bothered by icky visuals - it'll separate. But shake it up again & it's fine.)
But as I was mixing one up & looking again at the nutritional info on the carton of egg whites it hit me - 1/4 cup is a serving - 30 calories & 6g of protein. An MRC clear HNS is 60 calories & 12g of protein (at least the ones I have). Sooo - why not just add 1/2 cup of egg whites to scrambled eggs or an omelet instead of having an HNS? 1/2 c worth of extra egg whites to egg salad? All egg whites to Crystal Lite or whatever for an HNS instead of the whey protein - I'm not sure how much I'd paid for the carton of egg whites but I'm thinking it's gotta be cheaper than the whey protein & it's a lot more tasteless. Oh, and a tiny preview of maintenance - on maintenance egg whites are a "free" food. I've got a couple more cartons in the freezer & I'll check the price next time I'm shopping. But I'm definitely using the egg whites more now as a different form of HNS.
(Come to think of it - seems like those meringue cookies that were recently posted could be an HNS substitute if you figured out the ratio for the right amount.)
nomoredonuts4me 04-14-2008, 02:37 AM I have never been a big distance runner, but I love it. I am sooooo addicted.
How do I go about finding a running group??? Everything that I am doing now I have found online.
Runner's Roost in Fort Collins should have a lot of running group info for ya.
Jewelie, your pics speak thousands of all you have accomplished!!! I am so excited for the healthier, energitic, thinner YOU!!!
Don't you think having an exercise program helps you stay on plan? I know it does for me. Eating the right foods gives me the best workouts, so I don't want to ruin that by going off plan.
Thanks for starting the new thread. I will be maintaining with you soon, and still want to do the Father's Day 5K in Estes Park with our Colorado group!
BTW, when I was really fit in the Air Force, I use to run 3 to 5 miles everyday and 12 miles straight every weekend. I will be trying that out again soon!!

bomaze 04-14-2008, 03:01 AM Wow, Jewelie! Your pictures really are amazing. Thank you for sharing them with us!
3monkeysmomma 04-14-2008, 03:55 AM Well I didn't get a chance to walk this evening like I had planned (was going to try 2 miles since it was indeed physically possible for me to finish the 5k, but when I went with my sister to sonic (she got diet coke I got ice water) I got a phone call from my teenage son that my 8 yr old daughter had sliced her wrist open and it was bleeding profusley, he was frantic. We literally flew home, running stop signs, I think we were air born a time or two. When I got there I "ran" in the house (last time I ran was about 6 years ago when the same daughter was headed for the street and I had to run to stop her, oh that child!) I had told my son to hold a towel to her wrist tightly until I got there (took maybe three minutes). The towel was soaked and when I looked at her wrist I could see her tendon. Nausea immediatley set in me hard. We rushed her to the ER and luckily she did not damage her tendon and the bleeding finally stopped and it only required stitches. I almost fainted in the er room, after it was all over. Don't know why I did that, never felt like that before, got sick to my stomach, my skin tingled, light headed, hard to breath, it was weird after it was all over. So she is sleeping now. She woke up crying so I gave her some meds and put her in my lap and of course mommy is magic and that made all the difference and she fell asleep so I didn't want her to wake up, so I sat there for a long time till she was good and asleep. So I had a really late supper. Oh you might wonder how she did it, well she was coming out of her bedroom with her brother and he stepped on the leg of her pj's by accident (they were a little big) and she tripped and on her way down she caught a little nail that had pried out a bit from the door facing with her wrist, I can't believe it sliced clean though like that. I'm keeping her home from school, its her right wrist so she can't write tomorrow anyway. My name on here should have been drama mama, there is always more than enough drama around me. Well hopefully I didn't ruin too many breakfasts or lunches, lol. I'm off to bed. :tired:
Goal4Life 04-14-2008, 09:23 AM Jewelie..love your new pic...you look great!
3mm...oh my, so sorry to hear of the trauma you had with your daughter. Glad they fixed her all up, and it wasn't more serious. I would have passed out, I can't handle icky gore like that. However when it is your own child, you will be surprised what you can endure.
I am going to have DH work on a pic for me this week, to add to my progress.
Happy Monday to all!
zackzmom 04-14-2008, 10:40 AM Jewel....WOW you look great and your sisters should be jealous, I am too.
But you have worked really hard and you should be proud.
I had WI on Friday, and I was down 3#s. that is really good, but I was a little disapointed. I'm at 171, and I really wanted to be in the 160's,but I'm averaging 2.5#s a week, so I will really celebrate when I get there. Maybe new earrings like everone else.
Meemo 04-14-2008, 11:16 AM I almost fainted in the er room, after it was all over. Don't know why I did that, never felt like that before, got sick to my stomach, my skin tingled, light headed, hard to breath, it was weird after it was all over.
Oh, bless her heart - glad she's okay. And her poor brother too.
As for you in the ER - that was probably the adrenalin rush wearing off. Amazing the stories our kids give us, isn't it?
bomaze 04-14-2008, 11:24 AM 3MM: OMG! How frightening! I'm glad to hear she is okay and it wasn't any worse. I do the same thing - great in an emergency but they gotta watch me when it's all over! Nothing like mommy magic, huh? ;)
I had a large burden removed last night. Well, you know about my cat drama (I promise this'll be the last you hear of it!). On Friday night, I finally got the nerve to check the shelter's website (DDFL for those CO folks) and there he was. OMG, did I cry, cry, cry! So I stopped and wrote him a letter of apology and included a prayer that his new family would stop in this weekend. Apparently my prayer was answered because he dropped off the site on Sunday (meaning he was adopted). I felt like I had lost another 50 pounds off my shoulders. Now if I can just manage a few real lbs. at my WI this a.m. I was feeling so down, I did a little minor sabotaging, so I'm not too hopeful but I'll let ya'll know later :D
mommato3 04-14-2008, 11:56 AM I finally went to weigh in on Saturday,(first time in a week), and wouldn't you know it, I hit a plateau. But, that is better than gaining. several of you have mentioned self-sabotaging (sp), and I am so glad to hear that. I feel like that is what I have been doing, too. Oh, those few french fries off of the kiddo's plate won't hurt...or just one bite of mac&cheese. Why do we do this? Yesterday, we had a birthday party for my now-four-year-old, and my eating was WAY off plan. However, I am DETERMINED to jump right back on this week, and get myself off of this plateau. I know that I am going to need the encouragement of this board to keep me from falling into those temptations. HELP!
redgirl 04-14-2008, 12:26 PM I have never been a big distance runner, but I love it. I am sooooo addicted.
How do I go about finding a running group??? Everything that I am doing now I have found online.
Alot of times sporting goods stores or stores specific for runners wil have groups. I have also seen ads in the paper for running groups. if you have a local health magazine or look in the newspaper under the health section. You be able to find a group if you look in these places. Good luck.:)
redgirl 04-14-2008, 12:36 PM 3mm- So sorry to hear about your baby girl! Theres nothing like mommy kisses!;) Give her lots of attention today and she will be better no time. I imagine she will be sore for a few days. Keep the Motrin onboard.
mommato3 04-14-2008, 01:13 PM 3MM ~ I am glad that your daughter is okay. How scary! We haven't had to make an emergency room trip YET with our kiddo's, but I just know that our day is coming. You and she need to rest and "snuggle" today!
Bonnie ~ I am so glad that your burden has been lifted! What an answer to prayer.
Jewelie~ Oh my goodness! You look awesome and are such an inspiration to the rest of us "losers!" Keep it up!
Donuts ~ my, you look good in your avatar!
zachzmom ~ Zach is precious!
I had a small NSV today. My mom bought me a pair of capri's and cute top for my birthday last year (May). Unfortunately, I couldn't wear it; the pants wouldn't button and the shirt was tight. Guess what I am wearing today? You're right AND the pants are nearly too big! Woo Hoo! So, even though I am on a (bleep) plateau, I still feel encouraged.
Rocki 04-14-2008, 01:14 PM Nickie...OMG! Your poor baby. I hope she's doing okay today. That's so scary, I can't imagine.
I WI today and even though my home scale said 149.9 (it's usually 2 pounds MORE than MRC) I WI @ 152.5 @ MRC! UGH! I was so ticked! I moved the scale and got back on and got it back to 152 so at least I didn't GAIN weight! Stupid Scale!:(
Anyway..I'm OP today (have been) and feeling pretty good, so hopefully when I go back on Thursday I'll be in the 140s (that will be a first in 14 years, holy cow). I also get measurements done, so I'm excited about that. My belly (front area) still looks big to me, but I notice a difference around my sides and my thighs and arms are looking a little better as well.
Good luck everyone! Tonight I'm going to dedicate some time in the kitchen and cook up some stuff that I can have for a quick grab in the AM to pack for breakfast and lunch. I might make up several slices of the French Toast and some more Irish Oatmeal and maybe boil some eggs. I love all the ideas everyone has posted. Anyone have quick lunch time things to make? I guess lettuce wraps are good if you have a good meat you want to eat up. I wish we could have our bread @ lunch instead of the fruit, but then I'd miss the bread @ breakfast! :)

VERY COOL NSV for you. I have a similar story. Two years ago (before I got pg w/my second girl) I had bought some black, dressy capris @ the Limited. They never really fit great! I kept them hanging there b/c I knew I'd wear them someday. In February (about 3 weeks into MRC) I went to a conference and was going to wear the capris but it was a bit chilly. They fit great, however. Now, I went to wear them the other day and they're too big:) So..I never got to wear them.
Anyone need a nice pair of dressy, black capris (just below the knee) from The Limited in a size 10? :)
crested1 04-14-2008, 01:20 PM Good morning...congrats to everyone who got their 5k in this morning. I like Angie, didn't have much get up and go this weekend. Kind of hung around the house and chilled. However....at WI this morning, I was down 1 pound, got to sign the 30 pound board...AND....I won another free week playing Deal or No Deal! WOOOHOOO!!! Oh...and, I am now transitioning to the green menu....thank god!!! I am sooooooooooooo sick of eating 6 oz of protein!
3mm...I hope your daughter is feeling better.
Jeweliek...you look fabulous!!!

I would LOVE 6 oz of protein! :) Congrats on that 1 pound and signing the board. That is awesome! :) I was there around 10:30 but didn't see you. Casey's mom and grandma were there. Too cute. Way to go on Deal or No Deal. How do you manage that each time? Did you have to be #5 or #10 or anything like that? Or, did they just give anyone who lost a try at the game? I didn't lose, so I wasn't sure.

I have been wondering what I am going to do with all of my clothes that don't fit anymore. I bought two really, really nice swim suits last year that I hate to just have them sit in my closet. Also, I am trying to buy a few new things as inexpensive as possible because I know they will only fit for a couple of months!!
NWALoser 04-14-2008, 01:56 PM Jeweliek,
you look great! No wonder your sisters are jealous - keep up the great work and you'll be on maintenance in no time! :)
HumbleBee-WOW what a difference! you look great. You don't look a day over 23!
Raemi13 04-14-2008, 02:26 PM So - let me ask a question. Can you actually get kicked out of MRC for not complying with the program?
UGH!
I swear - I'm going to get kicked out.

I thought about consigning mine, but I just never got up the gumption. My daughter had a garage sale & I actually sold quite a few things there. The rest went to Salvation Army. It would've been smarter to at least try to sell them on consignment, ebay, whatever - but I was just too lazy to mess with it. But it sure would've helped offset the cost of MRC & the new wardrobe!

I think I got there about 10:45 or so....I don't usually do too well on Deal or No Deal...just lucky I think the past two weeks. Anyone who loses gets to pick a case...My first case was empty, but I got another chance, and picked one with a free week. I'll take 'em any way I can get 'em!
exsquisit 04-14-2008, 02:28 PM YOU LOOK FANTASTIC!!! WHAT AN INSPIRATION!:carrot:
I got brave....if you click on my profile you will see me at my heaviest in the before. It was about 230#. I had lost a bit before trying MRC. Then the new avatar and the current image are from today. Hope you like.
I am a work in progress. I cannot wait to hit goal and start stabilization. I really want to up my exercise and next year I want to do a half marathon.

I got a phone call from my teenage son that my 8 yr old daughter had sliced her wrist open and it was bleeding profusley, he was frantic.

WorkingARMom 04-14-2008, 02:50 PM Nicki - spoil that baby girl today. And her brother for taking care of her.
Stupid question what is NSV?
Just went to WI. I was up .5 of Friday and now I have hit a plateau. They tried to convince me that it is a good thing. Oh well we will see.
Congrats everyone on there losses. And good luck to those who have not WI yet.
Rocki 04-14-2008, 03:05 PM Stupid question what is NSV? ** No Scale Victory **

We ALL go through it and it sucks while you're there. But your body is just getting used to your lifestyle change. You'll get through this soon!
Congrats everyone on there losses. And good luck to those who have not WI yet.

A few bumps in the road, don't feel guilty anymore about them just hop on board and begin again. I tell myself that I don't want the misery that follows what I put in my mouth, it tastes good all of 1 minute then I am depressed for a week. I have been having a scheduled "choice" once a week. After WI so I have time to get rid of it before next WI (I WI once a week) So far it has not hindered me but as soon as it does I'll stop. During the week I tell mysellf no I don't need that because I can have a treat on Friday. Since Easter I have been doing this. One day it was brownies, this past Friday it was strawberry shortcake. But I am an angel (as close as I can come anyway) during the rest of the week, this keeps me op. As soon as it hinders me I am done with the treats for awhile.

MrsPhibes 04-14-2008, 04:00 PM Some good and bad news. Good first. I weigh less than my DH finally (even if its' only .5 lb). We use the same home scale so I know it's consistant.
Bad news, only lost .5 lb. I've been 100% op except for one minor transgression. I ate a small roll while out for dinner Saturday. I knew I should have eaten only 1/2 but I ate the whole thing. Do you think that could stall me that much. I was told that I should be losing at LEAST 3 pounds per week. Which means that I need to lose 1.5 pounds each time I wi.

No food high even comes close to a runners high.
I will look into Runner's Roost. I too am excited about the run at Estes Park.

exsquisit 04-14-2008, 04:17 PM Do any of you use the low sodium seasonings like low sodium taco seasonings or chili seasonings? I called my center and they said you can if they are very low sodium. The counselor couldn't remember what kind we are allowed. What kind do you use if any? I ended up getting the old el paso low sodium kind but it still has 330 mg per serving. Should I just leave that alone?
exsquisit 04-14-2008, 04:19 PM And I gotta know, What does NSV stand for?

I use taco seasoning all the time in buffalo, but i only use like half the package. I think since being on such a restrictive diet my taste buds pick up more tastes so I can use less seasoning. I do usually add extra ground cumin to the taco meat and only half the pack of taco seasoning.

Kids are 14, 11, 7, 8 (youngest 3 are boys). I work every Sat. until 1ish. But, maybe some weekend when I have off for vacation...!!!!???
Crystal maybe there is a place online to find buffalo, I saw a commercial on TV the other day first time ever I have seen it that advertised for mail order buffalo. If you can find buffalo your whole world will change, lol. It tastes like beef. The steaks are pricy but the ground buffalo at Market Street here is only 4.99 a pound and I am the only one who eats it mostly. I feed the rest of my family beef. I'll look online and see what I can find.
I had buffalo when I was a kid and we'd go to market to sell our cattle & pigs. I remember how good it was. I'll check out your links - thanks for finding them for me.
WOW Jewelie! Your before & afters are AMAZING! God I wish I could be like you.
Went to WI today. Up a pound. I just cried all the way home. TOM doesn't help, I know, But geez....!!!

I know you're disappointed. Is your center giving you any direction as to why. It seems to me this is where their "expertise" should come in. I know it's easy to say...hang in there!
Do any of you use the low sodium seasonings like low sodium taco seasonings or chili seasonings? I called my center and they said you can if they are very low sodium. The counselor couldn't remember what kind we are allowed. What kind do you use if any? I ended up getting the old el paso low sodium kind but it still has 330 mg per serving. Should I just leave that alone?
I have to admit I've used the low sodium el Paso with ground turkey. I honestly don't know how much sodium is good or bad. It sure was good though;)
exsquisit 04-14-2008, 08:53 PM I use taco seasoning all the time in buffalo, but i only use like half the package. I think since being on such a restrictive diet my taste buds pick up more tastes so I can use less seasoning. I do usually add extra ground cumin to the taco meat and only half the pack of taco seasoning.
Thank you! Next time I will use only half. I did the whole thing this time. I hope it doesn't mess me up too bad. Those tacos sure were good though!:D

Thank you for the compliment.
Have you talked to your center. I think this is where I would demand more time and sit down and say....."what can I do?", "what do you recommend?", "is there something I should try?" Make sure they are living up to their side of the bargin and giving you the support that you are paying for! At our center, you can call in and make an appointment if you have many questions or want to talk to someone in particular....is this possible for you? Hold in there, I know brighter days are ahead!!!!

Hey Blueeyedangel! Don't be sad! It'll come right back off. I'm sure TOM is the culprit here. Just keep going girl. Let me make you feel better. My diet challenged behind bought some stuff from mydietshopz, one of which was the wildberry. Well I'm doing meta quick for 3 days so I've been doing the shakes and what I thought was a regular clear HNS. Long story short, 4 wildberries later I notice the word meal replacement on the box. So my silly but has been drinking all meal replacement shakes the past 2 days along with my regular dinner. I'll be joining you probably at my WI on Wednesday, and it's my own fault...LOL. So see, at least you didn't do it to yourself!!! Gotta have some humor in this thing!!!:dizzy:
exsquisit 04-14-2008, 09:06 PM No Kroger here. I think I'll check and see if Publix has anything extra low in sodium.

Do not worry about it. TOM is probably the problem.
You do not look old enough to have a 14 year old. I have a 15 year and an 11 year old. Both boys.
WorkingARMom 04-14-2008, 09:22 PM Nah, I think they like your money too much to kick you out. BTW, I LOVE your new avatar picture - you're so pretty!;)
Oh, almost forgot...I was down another 1.6 this morning. I'm only 5.4 away from the 50# board - gonna make it mine!!
Whoo Hoo! You will be there in no time.:carrot::carrot:

Oh Crystal, I'm so sorry. I do agree with the others that you need to make an appointment with a counselor that you feel a connection with and go in and have a good talk and examine your food sheet, times you eat, EVERYTHING.
Having been there myself, I know exactly what you are going through. You just hang in there and stay OP. You're probably going to see a huge drop soon!
My quick news--I think I've gotten through this plateau and dropped 2 pounds today. I felt it should have been at least 10 (yeah, right!) after stagnating so long, but I'll certainly take the 2 and be happy with the loss ;)
3mm I'm so sorry to hear about your daughter's accident and I'm really glad to hear that she is OK. Poor little thing--and I know you must have been scared to death.
bomaze You are so close to that 50 lb board--you must be thrilled :D
meemo The restaurant is called Bombay Masala and is on Eglin Pkwy. If you are coming from Niceville headed to south to 98 it will be on the right, a few blocks past Albertson's (almost across the street from Goofy Golf) and is right next to a Thai restaurant called Siam. They are open for lunch and dinner. I've only been there once as right after they opened I started MRC but my husband and some other Brits have been going and like it.
We did not like the Greek place in Shalimar that much --mostly because the service was horrid. But maybe it's gotten better--I know I wouldn't be able to get my husband back there again though.
Gma to 4 04-14-2008, 09:53 PM It took me two hours to read through everything after 5 days of vacation. I sat down with a pad and pen and got so many great tips -- types of breads, spreads, recipes, supplements, etc. Thanks to all of you for your willingness to share information.
At my WI today, I was down 2.5 lbs, so got to sign the 10 lb board. I started the program on March 21st but haven't been re-measured. How often do they measure you and when do they start? I know my clothes fit better but think the decrease in inches may be a good motivator.
Gma to 4 04-14-2008, 10:01 PM Someone had asked about what to do with the clothes they have outgrown. I volunteer at a clothing bank for women entering or re-entering the workforce. I'm 35 actually... Thank you for the compliment! I needed that! It's been kinda a sucky weekend all around. :^:
ieduc8em 04-14-2008, 10:09 PM Gma to 4: You usually get measured once a month. That should be next week right? 10lbs is awesome!
blueyedangel: You look very young. I think the name Crystal suits you too! For some reason you look like a Crystal to me...lol. I wanted to tell you thanks for the tip on ordering the book 100 Days of Weight Loss. I did and got mine today. I can't wait to use it! I only bought the one book and the author signed it for me personally. That was pretty cool! Thanks for sending out that info.:)
ieduc8em 04-14-2008, 10:13 PM Congrats to you Finz on your 2 lbs. That is a great plateau buster!:carrot::carrot:
blueyedangel 04-14-2008, 10:15 PM Thank you EVERYONE for your words of support while I yo-yo and whine. :(
The counselors say there is nothing wrong with my foodsheet. They keep having me to up my pills. Enhancer started at 2 pills a day, now its 4 a day. Flax is up to 6 now from 4. Vitamins are up to 3 a day & liquid minerals 2x. MRC6 is 6 a day. As much MSM as I want to take they say, the more the better. 3 B6, 2 CoQ10. Internal cleanser 2 a day. I have 4 HNS a day...well, sometimes I only get in 3. (But, that's seldom.)
I'm off to walk on the treadmill. 3 miles is my goal. I'll walk until my freaking legs fall off... :woops:
ONE good thing today!! I won the drawing this week for a free box of HNS! Either that or they feel like they owe me for struggling so much. Honestly, in 5 weeks I should have made more progress than this. My water intake was down over the weekend and TOM is here. Im trying really hard to believe this is the cause. I'm scared to go back regardless. I feel like a loser and that they are getting tired of me. :^:
Rocki - I feel your pain girl... :tantrum:

You are most certainly welcome! :D For some reason my book order was cancelled. I think I musta typed in the the credit card wrong. I need to reorder.
As far as my name: I hated it when I was younger. I just wanted pencils with my name on them, and could never find any. I like it now. AND it beats Pebbles! Which is what my dad wanted to name me! NOT kidding! Wouldn't that have been awful? :o
blueyedangel 04-14-2008, 10:21 PM Congrats Finz and Gmato4 and anyone else I missed!

Have they not made other suggestions, such as cutting out cheese, cutting out creamies, cutting out salt, switching to lower fat/calorie meats. They are suppose to see how your metabolism works with the foods you eat, they are suppose to be tweaking your diet to see how your metabolism responds that's why they are called Metabolic "Research" Center. Have they done anything other than have you take more and more supplements? My goodness with all those supplements I wouldn't have any room left for food. Maybe your doing something wrong and don't realize it and they are not catching it, maybe one or two foods you have frequently are the culprit. With as much knowledge as is on this board maybe you should post what you eat everyday for a few days on here and the ones that have been at it awhile longer than us can critique it. I bet they wouldn't mind.

I agree, Crystal - post it out and we'll do our best to help!
Rocki 04-15-2008, 12:33 AM Crystal..I'm so sorry you're going through this lull with your weight loss. Thanks for feeling my pain. :(
I agree with Nickie that maybe posting your food sheets might help out. I know our veterans (and many newbies as well) will be good critics for you. I can't believe they just keep getting you to take more herbs and stuff. That's crazy. It really upsets me b/c I think they should be more concerned about your foods. I mean, really, you won't be taking all those pills forever and you need to be able to lose the weight and keep it off without all that stuff. I take a bunch too (have been skipping them a lot lately) but I don't really think they help overmuch (that's JMO of course). Once I'm out of everything I have in my cabinet I'll be taking just the flax and hoodia (when needed). I buy an enhancer at the vitamin store and that's good enough.
Oh, I'm 35 too, but I waited too long to have kids! I say that b/c I have a 5 year old and a baby and they drive me insane. I seriously have no patience. It's funny b/c we have friends that (dh graduated with) have kids in college and others (people I graduated with) who's kids are in high school and we're still having babies (well, not anymore, but you know what I mean:)).
Take care and keep your chin up! Oh, what does your dh do? I know you're USPS, but does he work there too?
angierue 04-15-2008, 12:36 AM I got a phone call from my teenage son that my 8 yr old daughter had sliced her wrist open and it was bleeding profusley, he was frantic.
Oh. My. Goodness!! So glad to hear she is okay but your poor nerves!! This is why I don't have kids. ;)
I am going to have DH work on a pic for me this week, to add to my progress.
I think I just noticed your ticker! 82 lbs is freakin' awesome. You are an inspiration! :)
I had WI on Friday, and I was down 3#s. that is really good, but I was a little disapointed. I'm at 171, and I really wanted to be in the 160's,but I'm averaging 2.5#s a week, so I will really celebrate when I get there. Maybe new earrings like everone else.
Oh my goodness! Disappointed about 3 lbs. *tsk, tsk, tsk* ;) That really is something to be very happy about but I do know what you mean. We have these little goals in our mind and it stinks when we don't quite get there. You'll be in the 160's before you know it!
Apparently my prayer was answered because he dropped off the site on Sunday (meaning he was adopted).
Yay! I know that had to make you feel tons better. I am a sucker for the animals. I have two cats and a dog and would totally have a whole houseful if I had more room.
I finally went to weigh in on Saturday,(first time in a week), and wouldn't you know it, I hit a plateau.
Plateaus, while apparently "good" for you ;) suck. I feel like I'm constantly on one! Keep coming here and keep reaching out for support when you need it.
I WI today and even though my home scale said 149.9 (it's usually 2 pounds MORE than MRC) I WI @ 152.5 @ MRC! UGH! I was so ticked! I moved the scale and got back on and got it back to 152 so at least I didn't GAIN weight! Stupid Scale!:(
I know that feeling!! Even though we can feel it, it still does the mental health good when you can see the scales change. But you will be in the 140's this week, I can feel it, so don't you worry! :)
angierue 04-15-2008, 12:45 AM Some good and bad news.
Yay for that little victory (of weighing less than DH). :)
I forgot to notice your ticker before I hit reply, but if I remember correctly, I think you're right about the normal "plateau time". It's no fun but we've all been there. Make sure you are journaling and weighing EVERYTHING you eat. And if you're having to eat out a lot, try taking the fat/carb blocker. I think it really has helped me with those restaurant meals where I know there's some off plan seasoning/spices getting mixed in.
Oh, almost forgot...I was down another 1.6 this morning. I'm only 5.4 away from the 50# board - gonna make it mine!!
Heck yeah! That is awesome! 50 lbs GONE for good. You need to think of a great reward for yourself when you reach it. :)
Went to WI today. Up a pound. I just cried all the way home. TOM doesn't help, I know, But geez....!!!
Blah! Sucks, sucks, sucks! I do, however, agree with some of the others about maybe posting your food sheets on here (or in a blog). I can't believe they just keep having you take more supplements.
I'm going to be honest here... I was on that stupid plateau for a couple of weeks and actually cut back on some of the stuff I was taking and I started losing again. I dropped the cortitrim and the liquid minerals. I'm just on the All Day Weight Loss, 3 Flaxseed per meal (which I buy myself, not from them), 1 Multivitamin with each meal and the MRC6 (2 w/each meal) and usually just my 3 HNS's a day. I think I've actually found my combination for now. We'll see how it goes further on down the line but it feels good for now.
angierue 04-15-2008, 12:49 AM My quick news--I think I've gotten through this plateau and dropped 2 pounds today. I felt it should have been at least 10 (yeah, right!) after stagnating so long, but I'll certainly take the 2 and be happy with the loss ;)
Yay!! 2 lbs is great and even greater when you've been fighting with those dang plateaus! Congrats on a great weigh in!

We don't have anything like that here but I do think donating them is a great idea. I am going to start going through my closet next weekend and will be taking all the things I am not going to wear again to the local Goodwill.

I will keep you and the doctors in my thoughts tomorrow. My mom had an angiogram and a stint put in several years ago and she's felt 100x better since. Be sure and check in with us when you feel like getting back on the computer. :)
angierue 04-15-2008, 12:58 AM *Whew* I think I finally got caught up since last night. Now for a little about me. ;)
I decided to go ahead and go weigh in today. I admitted to everything and had a really good talk with my counselor. She was, as always, very supportive and asked me a lot of questions about why I thought I was self-sabotaging. One of the things she asked me was, "Do you not feel that you deserve this?"
Honestly, I kind of blew it off at the time but I've been thinking a lot more about it since and I think in some way, I really do feel like maybe I don't. I've always been the "fat girl". I used it to keep people at arms length and as an excuse for not doing things my whole life. I think maybe in a way, I'm afraid of having to face things without my fat.
But I do want this. I want to be thinner. I want to be healthy! I want to do some of the things my weight has kept me from doing.
Ok, enough of that! That's more blog material. ;)
I did go ahead and weigh in today and I stayed the same as Friday. I am going to do my measurements on Thursday and I'm looking forward to that because I know that it will show a good loss and I think I need that boost. I'm only 3.5 lbs from the 30 lb board and I can't wait to sign that damn thing!
I have a busy week at work so might not be able to post much. I hope everyone has a great weigh in this week!
Meemo 04-15-2008, 01:41 AM My quick news--I think I've gotten through this plateau and dropped 2 pounds today. I felt it should have been at least 10 (yeah, right!) after stagnating so long, but I'll certainly take the 2 and be happy with the loss ;)
Good job! And thanks for the restaurant info - I think I caught the Indian place out of the corner of my eye last time I was over there. I'll probably have to get my daughter to go with me (my husband isn't the most adventurous of eaters although I could probably get him to try their saagwala if they have it.)
3monkeysmomma 04-15-2008, 03:12 AM Does anyone know how many grams of protein a day we need? And how much sodium a day is too much? I been putting my meals in fitday and I am curious.
nomoredonuts4me 04-15-2008, 04:25 AM blueyedangel~ Here are a few things I do to get over a hump:
1) I cut out creamy HNS
2) I cut out Group 2 meats or limit to just 1 per week
3) I increase the intensity of my cardio workout (make sure you sweat!).
When I do cardio, I do interval training. I stay in my target heart rate zone for 10 minutes, then go to my max heart rate zone for 1 minute and repeat this cycle for a total of 60 minute cardio workout. I believe this has made the biggest difference in my weight loss success. I do cardio three times a week. It's also important to do different types of cardio (i.e. running, power walking, biking, swimming, elliptical, mini trampoline, stair climbing, treadmill,etc.). If you are just starting out, I recommend starting slow and gradually increasing your workout time. When I first started, I would only do 10 to 15 minutes cardio on the elliptical three days a week.
4) Max out your water intake.
5) Try having 4 to 5 HNS per day
6) Don't go to bed hungry. I usually have a clear HNS 2 hours before I go to bed. Occationally, I have a creamy HNS 2 hours before bedtime.
7) I don't eat the same foods over and over again (i.e. chicken salad). Try different kinds of fruits and veggies too.
8) Try to stay positive. Believe you are going to have a good WI.
9) Cut out as much stress in your life as you can.
10) Focus on the lifestyle changes and the NSV's.
11) If you haven't had a physical exam with your doctor recently, you may want to make sure it's not something related to your health that is stalling your weight loss.
Crystal, we are really pulling for you!!! You deserve a leaner healthier body!
nomoredonuts4me 04-15-2008, 04:49 AM OK, nobody laugh. I just replaced my Lazy Boy chair with an Ab Lounge. It kinda fits my new lifestyle better.:D
I WI today, and have a real positive mindset that I will sign the 150 pound board!!! Send some of your positive vibes my way.
I guess it's time to replace my current avatar with a real picture of me. Jewelie really inspired me. I thought some of you would enjoy the Brad Pit pic for awhile.
Angieroo, You call "us" chatty.:blah: JK
namaste, WHERE ARE YOU????:?:
Probably trying to read through all of Angieroo's posts. :dizzy: JK
mirihawk 04-15-2008, 09:32 AM I'm totally not caught up, but I just needed to get on and post: I GOT THE JOB! :carrot: And all the time I've been waiting its been hard to stay OP, but once I gave my notice at work, I stopped feeling like eating "bad" things! LOL.
Hugs to all who want them, KUTGW everyone!
I got brave....if you click on my profile you will see me at my heaviest in the before. It was about 230#. I had lost a bit before trying MRC. Then the new avatar and the current image are from today. Hope you like. Jewelie, your pictures are an inspiration to me!! You look great!
3MM, sorry to hear about the drama, hang in there woman.
Golly bum! It just took me almost an hour to read through the old thread and get caught up on this one. You guys have been chatty!!!! ;)
<snipped>
I know I always say it, but I will try much harder to keep caught up with you all this week! I'm going to weigh in tomorrow so will try to come back and update after I'm done. Good luck to everyone that weighs in tomorrow!! :)
Angie, you always make me laugh! I love to hear about what you have been doing!
I have been wondering what I am going to do with all of my clothes that don't fit anymore. I bought two really, really nice swim suits last year that I hate to just have them sit in my closet. Also, I am trying to buy a few new things as inexpensive as possible because I know they will only fit for a couple of months!!
There's an upscale consignment shop near me, but they only take in season. And the first time in you have to bring in 25 items... I am almost ready to call and make an appointment with the owner. Then after that I will be able to bring in a couple of items with no appt.
Raemi, hang in there.

CONGRATS on the job! That is wonderful. I am not sure of any "upscale" consignment stores around here. There are a few "fun and funky" ones that probably would not be interested in my business casual attire.
Goal4Life 04-15-2008, 11:33 AM donuts...all of your suggestions for plataeu's are great. I would like to second, I don't have a creamy every day. I only eat red meat 1 time a week, and if I am on a plataeu, I don't eat any red meat for 1 week, sometimes 2. Cheese can be a slower downer, I try to not eat it as my sole source of protein, only as a topping/condiment. Protein bars/meal replacement bars, can also slow me down sometimes. I try not to do 3 in a week, if I have to, I make sure I space them out with a day or 2 in between.
Also, cardio exercise, has really helped me push through plataeu's (I do cardio 3-4 days a week for 45 mins -1 hour, also keeping my target heartrate). I do very light weight training only 2 days a week now, and will up it once I hit stabilization/maintenence.
Goal4Life 04-15-2008, 11:36 AM ok, so I finally tried the cottage cheese/oatmeal breakfast combo that you all have been raving about...I didn't really like it. I tolerated it just so I could finish it, but I don't think that is going to be on my menu again. I'd rather just eat the 1/8 cup cooked oatmeal as a mini side to my eggs or cottage cheese. It goes to show how we all have different taste buds.
angierue 04-15-2008, 11:44 AM Hey, I only had to be chatty because it took me so darn long to get caught up with you all!!! ;)
Miriam - Congrats on the new job!!! That is great news. And what a wonderful feeling to be free of a job you weren't 100% happy with and on to a new adventure. WOOHOO! :)
carolr3639 04-15-2008, 11:45 AM Can anyone put a link to the first thread on MRC? I can find Take 4 but anything before that I can't find. Thanks.
angierue 04-15-2008, 11:52 AM I really need to start doing some exercise. I have sort of abandoned my trainer because I've been busy after work and he's booked in the mornings. But I ran into him at the dog park the other night (which is where we initially met) and he said that even if I just came in during the mornings and spent some time on the elliptical and the bike, it would be fine. So I think I might start doing that next week.
Heck, if I would just leash up the pup and go for walks every day, that would help out immensely. I take her to the dog park most nights but I just stand around while she runs all over the place. I do throw the ball for her quite a bit but that doesn't really count.

redgirl 04-15-2008, 01:05 PM Kids are 14, 11, 7, 8 (youngest 3 are boys). I work every Sat. until 1ish. But, maybe some weekend when I have off for vacation...!!!!???
I had buffalo when I was a kid and we'd go to market to sell our cattle & pigs. I remember how good it was. I'll check out your links - thanks for finding them for me.
WOW Jewelie! Your before & afters are AMAZING! God I wish I could be like you.
Went to WI today. Up a pound. I just cried all the way home. TOM doesn't help, I know, But geez....!!!
I am so sorry that you gained a lb!:( You have lost 20.5 inches! That is great! But, I so understand how you feel. What did the counslers tell you to do? I am curious about their suggestions. I was thinking that you were doing the Meta-quick for a few days. Hang in there! We are all here for you.

Thanks Donuts! Like a walk down memory lane, not too many of those original posters still here.
And y'know, that was quite the reality check for me. I first posted back on page III - probably in May or June of last year (short attention span here, I forgot to check the date of my first post) but I was talking about wanting to lose about 7 lbs. Well, not only did I not lose them, I gained a couple more. So clearly it's time to quit screwing around & just do it already. It's not like I don't know what to do, what to eat. I need to "Just Do It" already!
So good start this morning, had a scrambled egg with a couple of extra egg whites added in (my homemade "HNS" experiment) and a 50-cal tortilla with some cheese melted on it. Going to go have a mid-morning HNS now & then take my walk.
It's just time to do this - I'm tired of messing around!
blueyedangel 04-15-2008, 01:23 PM Have they not made other suggestions, such as cutting out cheese, cutting out creamies, cutting out salt, switching to lower fat/calorie meats.
I'm gonna post my daily meals. I would LOVE input from you all. I TRULY appreciate any help I can get. I don't own ANY creamy supp. except the cream of chicken soup & tomato HNS, and I seldom use either. I just bought some MRB because I was going to do the MetaQuick. Maybe I need to just suck it up & buy those expensive shakes, I don't know anymore. I mainly eat chicken or fish, ususally salad, asparagus, green beans, broccoli, cherry tomatoes, oranges, apples, 45 cal. bread. Sometimes, I will have a 4oz. salad & 2 oz of cooked vege. I don't do much cheese anymore, since that seemed to stall me the first time. I don't care for the cottage cheese/oatmeal thing. Occassionally I do have oatmeal. I NEVER have anything to drink except water. I haven't had since Feb. 26! Every night I will post my food sheet for anyone who can offer me some advice. THANK YOU! I've wondered if I'm not overdoing it with all the supplements... I've been trying to walk 2-3 miles on the treadmill every other night. I'm gonna try to do it every night. I do alternate from a walk to run, then I raise the incline, etc... so it's not all the same workout.
Having a teenager is NOT a picnic. She is a great kid...but just wants to be a grown up like we all did & it's such a different world now. I'd love to have a baby sometimes...I miss those cuddly days. Our littlest one wants a baby so he doesn't have to be the youngest. LOL
I also have friends from high school that have 2 & 4 year olds. I have a friend (3 years older then me) from college with a 2 year old! I can't imagine... But, 4 is a couple of handfuls sometimes. Much easier now that they are older. They are able to rely on each other. Usually an older one will buddy up with a younger one. The 2 younger ones tend to compete. LOL
My hubby is currently a Sgt. at a correctional center...soon to probably be Captain. Which will make him night shift...hate that... But, he's turned the position down 4 times & would like to be Major someday, so night shift is how he'll have to go to get where he wants to be.

Well...I tried my own version of MetaQuick by using the slimfast bars & shakes. I did it for 2 days early last week & nearly starved. Maybe that's why I gained since they aren't exactly the same as MRC's? I was going to do Metaquick, but the shakes are expensive & they have so much of my money already! :^: Need to wait til I get paid! LOL They didn't even suggest Metaquick yesterday & to tell you the truth I didn't even think about it, I just wanted to leave. I'm going to ask them to measure me when I WI next. I should go Thursday, but may wait until Friday. I feel like their biggest failure - they don't seem quite as excited to see me as they use to be...
redgirl 04-15-2008, 01:37 PM Well, I am caught up now. Congrats to all the losses so far this week!
Miriam Congrats on the job! I know you are happy.:)
Crystal I think posting your food sheet is a good idea. It sounds like you are eating well. I also think increasing your exercise will help.
WI today for 1.5 lb loss. I am happy and suprised. I thought I was going to stall. Keep up the good work everyone!

Definitely have them measure you. How much water are you drinking? I was drinking 4 to 6 32oz bottles a day (130-180 oz/day). They told me that it was too much. Evidently if you drink too much for an extended amt of time, you will start to hold water. I wonder if that is your issue? Your losing inches, and that makes me think you are also losing fat. Have them put you on the tonita scale. That may also give you some insight.

I drink about 80 oz. a day. Maybe my food scale is off? I've been thinking of getting a digital. They didn't have them at walmart when I bought mine.
Congrats on you loss!

I would definately get a digital scale. My old one was off almost .5 oz I know that isn't bad normally but on this diet it is!!!!
mirihawk-- Congrats on your new job!!!!
3monkeysmomma 04-15-2008, 03:35 PM :woohoo:Miriam that's great! Woo hoo for you!!
crested1 04-15-2008, 03:55 PM :o...oh no! I definitely did not eat OP at lunch today. I joined my co-workers for lunch at the food court. I wasn't expecting to go, so, it threw my 'plans' off. I had chinese...orange chicken and veggies...no rice. I suppose that I could have made better choices, but I didn't have all the time in the world to make a decision....anyway...I'm not real happy with myself at the moment. I should have just said 'no thank you', but there are times that it gets old always saying no. But, because I hadn't planned on going out, I didn't have any Fat/Carb blocker....well, I guess I just need to get back OP and stay there!! Hopefully, this won't cause too much of a set-back!
crested1 04-15-2008, 03:56 PM Guess I should make sure I get plenty of water and probably at least get a walk in after work...try to 'undo' some of the damage!
redgirl 04-15-2008, 04:11 PM Angierue could you please tell me again about the lemon pudding and cottage cheese? I just got the lemon pudding and wanted to try your idea. Do I use 4 oz of cottage cheese and the pudding, and do I blend in the blender? What else do you have with this?:) Thanks in advance.
NWALoser 04-15-2008, 04:25 PM Guess I should make sure I get plenty of water and probably at least get a walk in after work...try to 'undo' some of the damage!
You might be okay. I ate chinese food a few weeks ago and it did not affect me. I will tell you that it seemed to help me that I drink alot of water and exercised. It did however give me the worst cravings I have had thus far. :( Just keep in mind before the program you probably would have made choices that were alot different that what you ate today. Just like I would have eaten TWO plates of chinese instead of one! :o

That's a very good point....I wouldn't have really given any thought to what I was eating, other than what was calling my name at that particular moment! Eventhough it's a little cool today, I'll defintely be walking or maybe putting in a dvd, that wind is making it feel much cooler than it actually is!
