YAY New Thread!

Thanks everyone! I got to thinking about the fat burning and all and gave them to the kids. I actually hunted that candy down because my husband had hid it from me. This TOM is bad for some reason. The UPS man hasn't brought my creamies yet and I'm about to put out an APB.

I feel you ready and Bikini on the chocolate. I missed my milky way eggs something fierce this year. Oh well. I don' t need any more hips.

Congrats to you blueyedangel on your loss and overcoming the plateau. That's awesome!

Blueyedangel Things are going ok. I lost 4.5 lbs. last Friday but when I wi last night I was up 2.5 lbs. I am ok with this because I think I can explain it away. When I wi on Friday it was first thing in the morning, I had workout clothes on instead of work clothes, and I hadn't eaten breakfast. When I wi on Tuesday I had worked all day, I had work clothes on and I had my cell phone and keys in my pocket (I just forgot). so I am hoping that when I go wi on Sat. am I am going to be back down my entire 4.5 (and hopefully more!)

Friday was the first time I had wi in the morning. I just can't get there in the morning. I get to work anywhere from 5:30 a.m. to 7:30 a.m. and unfortuately there is no center open that earlier - so it is after work wi's for me.

I think I will modify my wi from Tues. and Friday after work to Tues. and Sat. morning. Maybe that will help me see the lb's drop off.

I just got done with my 168th oz. of water and I haven't even thought about dinner. I am floating around but still craving more water. Oh well - not a bad problem to have :)

Thanks for checking in Blueyedangel:hug:

My weigh in schedule is Tuesday evenings and Saturday mornings because of work. I hate the Tuesdays, sometimes I will have gained, broke even or lost .5. Saturdays, on the other hand, I love. I'm usually down 2-4 lbs. Good luck. Your Saturday wi will be your motivator.

168 oz! OMG! I cannot even imagine! I'd be gagging...I'm just now able to hit 72 oz.! LOL You are a sponge!!!

I know what you mean about working and WI. I always have to go after work also. This week, I've been off, so I've been able to go more in the middle of the day. Been trying to wear pretty much the same clothes to all the weigh ins... I take off everything extra...even my watch! LOL At least you know why you went up...celly & keys really do weigh more than what you think they would.

Keep up the awesome losses! 9 pounds is FANTABULOUS!

Ok, so I go in tomorrow to wi and it's measuring day!!! I think I may have screwed up today though b/c I actually had a diet Mt. Dew b/c I was jonesing for some caffeine. But I learned something about my body today. I started getting tired and wanting some caffeine around 11:00am. I went and got it and then about 15 minutes later realized that I was hungry!!! And it was lunch time!! Duh, why haven't I learned how to hear what my body is trying to say to me!?!? So anyway, then for dinner, I had my first red meat for the week. So I'm a little nervous about wi b/c I know that I shouldn't have had the caffeine. Maybe I will take another b6 in hopes of pulling some of the water that I'm going to retain!!!

another thing, my MIL came to take my teenager out for lunch today b/c it's spring break. I really love my mil. She's the only mother figure I've ever had. BUT here lately, she's been amazingly annoying!!! AMAZINGLY!!!! Really, she thinks she's eighty. But alas, I think I have expressed all of this before....so on with the story. She and Bek wanted to come by my office b/c I wasn't out seeing patients today. Turns out, Bek had to prove to her that I am losing weight quickly. Bek brought up my sister's wedding and how we needed to get her dress. She asked about mine, and as you know, I ordered it in a size 10 in anticipation of the weight loss. My MIL went nuts and wanted to know why I put myself under that kind of pressure!! My dtr went on to point out that it was working b/c I was doing so well. My MIL wanted to know what size I was in now and Bek told her that I just bought a pair of size 12 pants b/c all of my others were falling off. Then mil said "well I just don't understand why she's doing this to herself." Bek made her come to the office so she could see how thin I am. hmph....I mean, what the h-e-double hocky sticks?!?! I'm really starting to wonder if my mil is starting to have some psychological issues!!!! And THEN, (which everyone else thought was no big deal) she brought TWO bags of candy into the house and left them for us!! Which she KNOWS that we have all made changes in our diets, and that I don't keep those things in the house anymore. My hubby and teen said that it was b/c she always has easter baskets at their house every year, just like stockings at christmas. BUT my MIL and I decided that we didn't want to do easter dinner b/c we didn't want to spend our holiday focused on food. We talked about how we spend way too much time focused on food. And that was it. SO WHY IS CANDY OK>?!?!? :?: ROAR!!!!! I just don't understand! She is so concerned about my fil and his new diagnosis of diabetes and how he's kinda quit caring about his sugars. i would easily say, "well, you know how elderly people are", BUT SHE IS ONLY 63!!!! That's the new 40!!! OY!!!

So that's my b***ching for the night.

Congrats to everyone that has lost!!! And welcome everyone of you newbies!! This is such a wonderful place!!!

I can't believe all the message since the last time I was on here. You all rock... :D

Welcome all the newbies and congrats all the losers!

ready, your MIL story is such a familiar one. When I had lost all my weight before (about 17 years ago).. and everyone knew I wasn't eating sugar, I went to my MILs for dinner and she put a big spoonful of brown sugar in my rice... just mine. I actually almost gagged at the table, had to excuse myself. She is my exMIL now and I won't have to deal with her this time around.

But the people who love us the most, they don't want us to change. Even if that means we fail. Not all the people, some of them are supportive... but its very typical of the people around us to want things to stay as they are, even if the way things are is bad, ill, or whatever... hang tight....

I have a bad cold myself and I'm having trouble with some of my meals... slow and steady... maybe I'll have to get some chicken HNS before my next cold...

I just got done with my 168th oz. of water and I haven't even thought about dinner. I am floating around but still craving more water. Oh well - not a bad problem to have :)

I get that way too! I have about 4-5 liters a day (carry around a 32 oz Nalgene bottle CONSTANTLY. Seems like the more I drink, the more I want. I just LOVE water these days! :)

As for the weighing in... Considering all you had in your pockets and it being end of the day, I definitely wouldn't be concerned about that little gain. I bet you see a HUGE drop on Saturday. I think you're new schedule will probably help out a lot too. I need to start going on Saturdays before breakfast but I have to start staying in town on weekends first!!!

Way to go on your 20.5 inches...that's incredible!!

Heck yeah it is! That is just awesome. It's almost TWO WHOLE FEET!!!

Yes, it does! I feel like I can NEVER keep caught up with everyone!! :dizzy:

What a great weigh in!!! I remember feeling exactly the same way my first couple of weeks. I literally lost 11 lbs in 11 days. It's slowed down for me but I know that is because of all the "extra" stuff I've been eating. I spent 4 days in Vegas and ate horribly then this past weekend in Austin (where I drank although I did pretty well on my food). Thankfully no trips for a while so I can focus and get back to dropping the weight! :D

readytobethin - Remember the handout when you first started? About the "Feeders"? Sounds like MIL, while awesome, might subconsciously be a feeder. First things first... CHUNK THAT CANDY!! Just toss it. I know we're always taught not to be wasteful but I think in this situation, it would be ok.

Hi angierue!

:)

Hi Miri!! :) Sorry to hear about the cold. I know that pain, though. I had it for what felt like a month! Might try adding a little extra vitamin C (like more pills are just what you need). ;)

Ok, so I went out to dinner with the in-laws and they picked the place. It was a Chinese restaurant and I did HORRIBLE! There was NOTHING on plan on the menu. I had taken my supplements and drank my HNS before I went but I had only had my chocolate meal replacement shake all day (because of the dentist appt) so I was starving. I ordered the Emperor's Lo Mien. I tried to mostly just pick out the chicken, shrimp, beef and veggies but I couldn't resist come of the noodles. Not to mention it was COVERED in sauce. Blah! The only good thing I did was take my fat & carb blocker before I ate (and it's definitely working if you kwim). I'm drinking water like crazy right now in hopes of flushing out as much of it as possible.

I went to weigh in this afternoon before I went to lunch and I was only down .5 from last week but my pants are kind of heavy so told her, "Don't look at my butt" and took those suckers off!! LOL! They were only a pound but I felt mentally better at 1.5 than I did at .5!

Oh! And I actually tested positive on the ketostix! It was the second level up. I was pretty happy about that considering I had kind of blown it with all the booze in Austin (for you newbies, I'm the rebel party girl ;)).

Tomorrow is back to the gym. I have been slacking BIG TIME since I got back from Vegas and even got a text from my trainer this morning that asked if I planned on coming back anytime soon. :o So tomorrow after work I will back in there with bells on and ready to kick it back into high gear! My knees have been bothering me a lot and I've been taking quite a bit of Aleve but he said he's stick me on the bike.

Ok, that's my "book" for tonight. :) Good luck to everyone weighing in tomorrow!

Christie: Thank you for a good chuckle tonight. I can practically hear your voice :) It's amazing to me where we find our "feeders" - I've been really disappointed in some of the people around me doing everything BUT supporting me. Take her for who she is (feeder!) and throw out that darn candy!!

I've been struggling on and off all day. I know just what LWN meant about the self-sabotage. I'm .6 from the 40 pound board and seem to be mindless in some of my choices today. How retarded is this though...I should be really, really happy because hubby just got promoted into his dream job but the impending change has me in a tizzy. It's a good change - why, oh why am I processing this as stress?? If I had a cigarette, I'd smoke it - and I haven't done THAT in a REALLY, REALLY long time!

Oh! Oh! Oh! Almost forgot!!! NSV today! I bought this shirt about 4 months ago and didn't try it on until I got home. It was way too tight to wear comfortably. Well guess what shirt I am wearing today??? That's right! It fit perfectly! I was so happy and everyone kept asking me if I bought a new outfit. (I wear the same crap every week because I refused to go up a size before joining MRC) I also tried on a couple of other shirts last night that I had bought w/out trying out and didn't fit when I got home and they are sooooo close to fitting. I think just a couple more weeks and I'll be in them. Woohoo!

Bomaze - I did the same thing. Bites here and there and only lost 4 pounds in 3 weeks! Try reading the letter you wrote in the beginning. Also write a list of the reasons why you want to get to goal. Try to get 10 reasons and post it on your mirror so you can read it every morning. This has helped me. I am still moving slowly, but.....I signed the 40 board last week. Good luck to you.

I normally drink about 4.5 - 5 L each day as well. I carry a 1L jug with 5 rubber bands on it. I move them from the bottom to the top for each liter I drink so I can keep count.

I think that when I gave up other liquids water just replaced them all. I also exercise ALOT and need it.

Ooh sometimes I hate change, sometimes I crave it. I have a really silly thing I say to myself when I am stressing about something, it helps me and I am probably the only person in the world it would lol, when something stressful is going on or if I am dreading dealing with a certain person I tell myself "They can't eat me" and "this too shall pass" whatever or whoever it is cannot eat me and it will pass. Bonnie you look so beautiful, you have such a pretty, kind face and a knock out smile and your new sassy hair (that I am still waiting to see) don't sabotage yourself. Whatever stuff happens, whatever disorder comes it will straighten out and you will get into the groove of it just don't let any of it effect what you put in your mouth. And a ciggarette will give you cotton mouth, make you stink, possibly start up the danged habit that was so hard to break, and the uncertainty about this new change will still be there. So hang in there and come out the other side beautiful.

Oh I so enjoyed supper tonight. I made fish tacos (never had one before, always sounded gross, fish tacos, lol) I put a lil olive oil in skillet, I seasoned Orange Roughy with lil lemon pepper, lotta paprika, and some fish rub (comes in a short fat jar in the spice section of the store) I cooked them in the skillet then after they were done I threw a corn tortilla in the same skillet and got it soft and hot, then shredded the fish with my fork and put most of it in the tortilla and had a fish taco. It was marvelous! My new favorite thing. I think I could eat it everyday. The flavor was so yummy I felt like I was cheating. The paprika almost carmelizes as it cooks, oh it was so good.

I started working out at the hospital this week. I have gone everyday so far but I have only done little weinny sessions. I get so hot (can't sweat) today I turned on the osculating fan that was there and this old lady next to me started complaining. But its more than I am use to so I think any bit is better than none. Hope I can get into the groove of it more and work out longer as time goes by. I also have been walking at night some. Hope Friday is a good weigh in.

Okay.......I went to WI for the first time today and I am not believing this BUT.... I lost 8.2 lbs in 4 days. I told my consultant that I thought her scale was broken! LOL:cloud9: I don't really feel like I have lost that much, but I am soooooo happy!!!!!

:dancer::bravo::flame: It's possible! The scales prove it! I keep thinking the same thing when they measure me. They told me that losing a bunch in the beginning is very normal. :carrot: YAY for you!!!

Thank you Rocki. It's a little past 9... Just had you on my mind!

Oh! Oh! Woohoo!

:hug:Isn't that the most amazing part! Those little personal suprises...NSV's! It's like, Yes I know I'm losing weight, & yes I know I'm losing inches...but somehow the way clothes fit better, looser, etc. just brings it all home and makes it real!!!:dancer:

Blueyedangel - Congrats on the 1.5 lbs! Woohoo! :carrot:

I get that way too! I have about 4-5 liters a day (carry around a 32 oz Nalgene bottle CONSTANTLY. Seems like the more I drink, the more I want. I just LOVE water these days! :)

As for the weighing in... Considering all you had in your pockets and it being end of the day, I definitely wouldn't be concerned about that little gain. I bet you see a HUGE drop on Saturday. I think you're new schedule will probably help out a lot too. I need to start going on Saturdays before breakfast but I have to start staying in town on weekends first!!!

What a great picture, beautiful you!!!!

Thank you everyone that told me to take care, I will. It will be OK, I just tend to get really nervous. They say I should be good to go in a couple days!

:getwell: Nervous is normal... Let us know how your doing. Since you're outpatient...it sounds like a simple procedure...but I'd be scared anyway, too. A routine procedure to a doctor is NOT routine to us... :( Come back when you feel better...you'll be in our thoughts/prayers.

That's a great idea about the rubber bands. May I borrow it? Good luck with your procedure, I'm thinking of you.

Last night I made the Stuffed Peppers recipe from the cookbook. WONDERFUL! Too good maybe...I really wanted to eat another! LOL Not 'cuz I was hungry...just 'cuz it tasted so good! (I NEED to get out of that mindset or start cooking badly! LOL) The recipe makes 4 servings. That really comes in handy too! Especially lately, it's been pretty hard for me to throw something together on time at lunch. Now my lunch is already made! And, I kinda like turkey burger after all & I was SO hesitant to try it!

I LOVE the rubber band idea also!!! You're so smart!

Have you ever thought about swimming or water arobics? I know people still work up a sweet, but maybe it would not be as fast as when you are in the gym. Either way, I admire you for overcoming an obstacle.

mommato3...I was sick a few weeks ago and couldn't really eat for about a week. When I called my center, they suggested to at least try to keep up with the HNS. I eventually went on the Meta Quick for a few days because eating full meals just wasn't going to happen. And...try to keep up with the water.

Congrats to everyone else on their losses!

I WI this morning, down 1.5. A total of 24 lbs!!! I get measurements next time I go in.

I know that I say this all the time, but man I can't keep up with you guys. I will never get my ticker if I don't start posting more, but by the time I get caught up I don't have time to post anything.
Does anyone know what the center will do if you miss a WI? I live about 45 min. from there and have had a crazy busy week. I don't think I will get there until Monday or Tuesday. Is that a big deal?
My hubby works there so he is going to go by and get what I need.
I haven't been very good lately either, so maybe the extra time will help me.
My biggest fear is gaining. I have been doing so good, but something in my brain has flipped. I think"one little bite won't hurt!" But I know better.

I have a long way to go, but I know I can. And all the people here are great. They are like little invisible friends, helpers, and supporters.

Now, I'm sure you know as well as I do that even good change is processed as stress. They say that getting married is one of the most stressful things a person can go through, as well as having a baby. So even good change will create stress. You can shake it off, sister!!! I know you can!!!

I made french toast for breakfast, mmmm delish! This would be perfect for those who are in a rush at breakfast time. A couple days a week cook up a few at a time and keep in fridge. Zap and grab on the way out the door. Way easy to eat in the car on the way to work.

I think Jewelie may have posted it but I just beat 1 egg, added 2 packs of splenda, a dash of cinnamon. Poured it over 40 cal bread and let it soak it up. Then cook in a skillet. I gave it a shot of ICBINB when it was done. It was very good.

I know I post alot about what I eat everyday, but that's what it is for me. Finding things that satisfy me and taste good so when I find something I like I can't wait to share it. Good Lordy. Like some others I am trying to catch up with ya'll. I think I've been off for 2 days and I've got pages and pages to read!!!:)

Congrats to all the people that have lost the pounds and inches and all the other successes.

Welcome to all the newbies. This is the best place to get support. You will do well on the diet if you read what these wise people have to say!

I wi in yesterday and lost 2 more pounds. I also got measured and have lost a total of 47 inches.

I earned 2 free weeks too...Yahoo! My contract was up next week and I have not made my goal so I will probably resign. With 2 weeks added that means I have 3 weeks to make it now. I didn't sign up for maintenance when I initally signed because I wanted to be able to see how it went. I can sign up for 17 weeks though and continue that for maintenance. I probably will.

Good luck to everyone this weekend!

Hey Angie!

Beautiful avatar! I'm over hear laughing at you taking the pants off. I should have taken my sweater off the other day. I was only down .5 because I kept it on. Seems my counselors are a little uptight about stripping.:D

Hi everyone. Congrats to all of you "losers". That means at least someone is eating OP, because it hasn't been me. I was on such a roll, and getting creative with my foods. Then last Fri, I really didn't want to eat OP, since then it has been a spiral. I have been buying ice cream and baking cookies. :rollpin: It is definitly a mental thing when you start getting close to your goal. You feel good, look good, people tell you you look good... I think we start getting comfortable thinking maybe this is enough weight. I do have a NSV... I fit into a pair of my pre-pregnany jeans! They were a little big before, but I still consider them pp clothes. I have started (for the 3rd day) a Meta quick to get all the sugars out of my system and set a new mini goal (my sons 1st b-day). I really wanted to back to my pre-p weight by 1 year. 5 more lbs will put me there. It is just over 2 weeks away. I know if I eat OP 100% I can do it. Thanks for posting all of your losses and NSVs. It encourages me to eat OP and report in. :)

I ask my center to make a copy of my Tonita tickets so I can pull them out whenever I'm having a rough time. Looking at it kinda centers me and reminds me why I need to stay op. This is a great example of how this board truly helps - Aside from the awesome support/encouragement.

Last Friday I wi and was down 9.5 lbs. Then that weekend I had a day off work - so I had a 3 day weekend. While I didn't cheat at all - I was very lax on my H2O and my HNS. I was going longer than 5 hours between eating.

I couldn't believe what I was doing. You would think that having such huge success in so short a time I would be gung ho on this diet, but my success had the opposite effect.

Now I see that some of you go through the same type situations. That is a great re-inforcement.

Thanks so much for sharing all of your experiences. Why is it that we, as humans, can't accept it when good things happen to us? We always have to look for the dark lining in a silver cloud.

Anyways, I am completely back to journaling, well over my allotted H2O and all of my HNS - I am even drinking all of my Fiber Tea's

Quick question for all of you -

Do any of you take the liquid minerals? My center forgot to mark directions on mine and also just told me to shoot a cap full.

Can someone give me more specific direction around how use them? Do you just take it once a day? Do you "shoot" a full cap, half cap?

Any info. could help. Thanks!

Thank you 3MM and Christie for your words of encouragement. I talked to my husband a bit last night (he's out of town this week), so that helped ease some of my anxiety. I restocked my 5HTP, so will continue on with that to try to quelch some of it. No, I didn't go buy smokes. :p

It took me two days of processing but I finally figured out the core of my anxiety...the last promotion he took was WAY overwhelming and a major tax on MY energies - it was then that I gained a large portion of my weight. I was trying to help him cope with the obscene amount of stress he was under by not demanding a thing from him and got left completely empty. That was two and a half years ago. Needless to say, I tried to fill the "empty" with food. The really dumb thing is that it took about 50 pounds to realize it wasn't filling anything but my pants in the realm of bigger and bigger sizes. I'm thinking it's a really good thing I'm with MRC this go around. As I think about what this next promotion will really mean for our family, I have to find other outlets when I'm lonely than the fridge. Right?? RIGHT!!

Don't you feel like a kid. Remember when a sticker from the dentist would make you happy all day and made all the pain go away? That is what that 25inch long purple ribbon did for me. I tied it to my purse, and everytime someone would ask me about it I would untie it and tell them all about it. I just take what the directions on the container say:
2 Tablespoons 1 or 2 times per day. I like the taste of the tropical fruit so I just take it straight. I used to take the orange and I would mix that in with an orange HNS.

I will be very very happy if I make the 10 # board. I have been totally on plan and after 27 days I only have 8#s to show for it. I am hoping to sign the 10# board next wi which will be Monday.

Be proud of your 8 #'s. Will you get measured and have your BFI... done on Monday? I hope so, because I bet you will have lost 10 lbs, if not more, and you will be surprised at how many inches you have lost. Don't get discouraged, you're doing great!:spin:

Our center seems to be going through some changes. they have "substitute" councelors (a different one each time I go) who are not all that helpful. They say evryone else is at training. There are only two of them there so you need to wait a long time since they are busy recruiting new members. I am a little miffed to say the lease.

I don't blame you for feeling the way you do. We are paying a lot of money for their guidance and help and you should be receiving better customer service than that. Hopefully, the people who are at training will come back in full force and ready to fulfill their part of your contract.

Well today my hubby joined the hospital gym too. He said he will go with me to workout 3 times a week. I thought that was sweet. He was there with me today and I actually had a 45 min. workout. The longest I have done so far. And he discovered how out of shape he really is so maybe that will help him keep going. :woops::ebike: I also waited until 7 tonight to go instead of around 3:30 and 4:00 like I have been. It was cooler at 7 and the older people were not there so I didn't have to worry about freezing any of them with the fan. I like 7 so think that will be my new time. I also have a belly dancing dvd I think I may start doing again earlier in the day. Of course when no one else is home. Way too embarrassing to do in front of anyone, but boy it sure works your mid section. :belly:

Your fish taco experience has *almost* convinced me to try one... I've always thought that sounded gross... but.... you made it sound good!

I think we should always post about what is going on for us, food or family or work, we are here to support each other...

Fish tacos are EXCELLENT! I like them on 'legal' flour tortillas, and something that's really good on them is some slaw made with shredded cabbage & spiced up with green onions & cilantro (if you like cilantro, I happen to love it).

And this reminds me of an excellent recipe for a "rub" - I've put this on all kinds of stuff - fish, chicken, veggies, eggs. It's fabulous! (And you could sub the Mrs. Dash table seasoning for the seasoned salt, although I always just used the seasoned salt - there's so much other stuff in here that it's just a small part of the overall mix.) I'll try to remember to post it on the recipes thread too.

Sweet & Spicy Chicken Wings Rub

1/2 cup of Splenda
1 Tbsp Seasoned salt
1 tbsp garlic powder
1 tbsp celery salt
1 tbsp onion powder
2 tbsp paprika
1 tbsp chili powder
2 tsp. pepper
1 tsp. lemon pepper
1 tsp rubbed sage
1 tsp dry mustard
1/2 tsp. powdered ginger
1/2 tsp dried thyme
1/2 tsp. cayenne or more if you like it hot

Combine everything & store in air tight container.

I just got back from the doctor, and I have the flu. Yuck. I was able to eat a sandwich last night (op) and drink some chicken bullion HNS today. I am going to try a chocolate HNS shake in a minute. But, I have been drinking 7-Up because that is all that sounds good to me. Could someone please tell me about the MetaQuik plan? It sounds like something I might need to do to get back on plan.

I don't have the actual menu right in front of me, but basically, it's a meal replacement for breakfast and lunch, and a regular dinner (protein, veggies, starch). Plus your HNS too. It certainly helped me when I couldn't even think about eating....

OK...I'm getting a little impatient waiting and waiting for my ticker....I want something cute to track my losses too!!!!

At my WI yesterday, I asked about purchasing more weeks...while I will more than likely reach the 50 lb mark by the end of my contract, I still would like to lose about 25 more....they weren't terribly specific, but I guess I'll cross that bridge when I get there, huh?

Hope everyone has a great day!

Maxncandy, wow your pretty. Love your new pic.

3mm - I was thinking the same thing!! I was also wondering if I knew MnC since we are from the same area. Since I have seen the pic - nope - don't know her!

Maxncandy - do you go to the Shalimar office? I go to the Miramar Bch office.

I haven't been to wi yet this week - plan on going tomorrow morning. I am still having stress from my husbands surgery - it feels like the healing will never end! He was doing fine for the first few weeks, then all of a sudden he is having severe muscle cramps/spasms. He can barely walk and is in pain all the time. Now the kids are home for spring break, so I am entertaining them and caring for him. I don't know how people deal with issues worse than this; I realize other people have it worse, but this is hard. At least I know that this will get better - in time.

Thanks for letting me vent!

Good luck to everyone this weekend!

You all just move to fast for me to keep up anymore.

I have been out of commission for a few days. I had to have a back molar extracted, they tried a root canal, but something didn't work, so they extracted it. Blah! I am 29 years old, and have only had 1 cavitiy, and that filling didn't work, hence the need for the root canal that didn't work! LOL

Needless to say, I have not been able to eat the right amounts, or all of my foods for each meal. I have been on a liquid/soft diet for 2 days, and I have 2 more days of it. Breakfast is ok, I do eggs and oatmeal. Lunch, I have been blending up cottage cheese with strawberries and an hns. My problem is the veggies, I can't seem to get them down, they are making me gag. Dinner is rough also. I had canned tuna and a piece of bread, but again, I can't get the veggies down. I am managing to get my vitamins down and my minimum HNS's. I am on 600 mg motrin, and percoset (spelling). I notice the scale went up 1.5 pounds here at home. I am sure it is because I am not eating all of my food, and the medicine is probably retaining some water. Also, I can't exercise at all, the pressure of the movement is to much to bear in my mouth, and it makes my mouth begin to bleed. HELLLPPPP! I know, I only have a few more days to bear with this, but, this is THE first time that I have not followed plan to a tee. It is really bothering me, as I am so close to my original 175 pound goal, I do not want a big set back.

Right?? RIGHT!!

I absolutely know how you feel! That is my situation now in a way...My husband took a better job and we moved from Kentucky to Arkansas last June. I have been in and out of control of my eating since. I have gained about 30 lbs. I feel don't have the self confidence to make friends here because of my weight gain. Since I don't really have friends here...I eat to compensate! I HATE it:devil: I am also glad to have this board for info and SUPPORT:hug: I need it. Thanks to everyone on the board. Reading your thoughts, accomplishments, and struggles has been so helpful. Keep up the good work everyone. Today I get to take my nutrition class and weigh in. I am excited!

Taxmicos are 25 cal corn tortillas. I found mine at Publix. As for the flour. I know the brand is La Tortilla, but I can't find them anywhere. I use the "Flat Out". It is normally by the deli. It is like a flat bread. It has 90 Cal and I use half. (it is pretty big).

Wow, six times in seven years? I can't imagine. How do you make friends? I suppose it's personality. I tend to be quiet until I am comfortable. You are so right about women needing other women in their lives for support and friendship. I think it is key in weight loss too, having someone to walk with and vent to is necessary. Well, I can't walk with you guys...but we can all vent and give advice. I believe the center will also be key for me and many others I am sure, for advice and the classes. Miramar Beach is between Destin and Santa Rosa Beach (or Sandestin). The office is across the street from Gold's Gym. (east of Smith's Antiques on the South side of 98).

I am always the picture taker too - unless my 6 yr old takes them, and when she does - they usually turn out odd. Thus my odd looking pic in my avatar - taken by my wonderful 6 yr old. :)

I have gone to a couple of classes. They were about how to handle stress and not to turn to food. I thought they were helpful.
I don't know where you work out, but that is a good place to meet people. I used to be scared that only skinny girls in thongs would be working out next to me, but when I started there were more people who looked like me than them. And when I was on the tredmill next to a skinny girl I would be thinking I'm going to have your butt someday. So I would go a little fast and a litter harder. That sounds really bad. It hasn't always been easy moving, but I have learned alot about people. Some people just won't like you. No matter what you do or say or look like. But some will. I just walk past the one's that don't and look for the ones that do. But I also learned that I was not going to make any friends staying couped up in my house, laying on my couch. I had to be out there living life. And it always seems to work out. It will for you too!!!:soap:

Sorry about your dental issues. This might be a good time to just have the meal replacement drinks for lunch & dinner, (or maybe SlimFast, it's a whole lot cheaper & the Optima ones taste good) and maybe even a snack to be sure you're getting enough calories. You should be getting around 950-1000 calories, so breakfast plus 3 SlimFasts plus your HNS would keep you in that zone. I know they'd slap your hands at the center, but hey, special circumstances require special meals.
And yes, Motrin is known for causing water retention. So don't sweat those 1.5 lbs, they'll come off once you're off the Motrin. If you can manage some extra water & B-6, that should help too. Hope your healing process continues well.

Lunch consisted of cottage cheese blended with strawberries, and then a side of baby food green beans. Ok ladies and donuts.....I am back..... a little crampy and tired but back. I was going to stay away from the comp. for the weekend, but I am bored here doing nothing.

When you do maintenance how many cals do you get? I'm concerned; I exercise a lot and now want to add in weight training to tone up. The personal trainer wants me at 1800-2000 cals a day to support the amount of exercise I want to do. I'm so low now that she isn't sure she wants to work with me until I add more cals in. I'm close to my goal now, but have some free week and am toying with the idea of doing this (MRC) for the added weeks to get lower, but if I go thru stab. now I can add the exercising in that I want to do.

Here is my schedule for exercise
Monday - treadmill for 45 min at 85% max heart rate
Tuesday - spin class for 1 hour 15 min
Wednesday - Pilates in the morning and Kickboxing at night
Thursday - active rest - walk with husband, playing with kids outside for an hour
Friday - spin class for 1 hour 15 min
Saturday - jog for 1 hour (like to do intervals)
Sunday - off

I want to add weight training on Monday, Wed and Friday for about 45 min. Weight to exhaustion with 5 min cardio bursts to keep my heart rate up.

I LOVE spin class! The first couple times you can get "saddle sore". It gets better.....as for soreness, you want to work for some sore, but not a "I can't move" sore. The instuctor will tell you that 1 is no resistance at all and 10 is resist. until you cannot move the petals......she/he will then tell you thru out the workout the intensity you need to be at.

In the beginning underestimate. When you are warming up work with the resistance so you find where your 5 is and where you 8 is. This will help you during your workout so that you don't make it too hard. It is all up to you. You are the only one that controls the resistence nob! If you want it more challenging just up the resistence. Also, remember that standing is always optional and have the instructor help you set up the bike the first couple times so that you don't hurt yourself. You want to make sure that your knee is in the right position!

I was down .5 at WI today --that puts me at 3 for the week so I'm happy!
We had a an interesting night out last night. My husband and I (and our 2 dogs) went to a local Tex-Mex restaurant for "Yappy Hour". They have outside dining on Thursday evenings and you can bring your dogs. A friend of mine was the sponsor so we wanted to go and support her.
I was worried about what I could eat and had mentioned it to the counselor I saw at my Tuesday WI. She said that that particular restaurant does a special MRC salad, named after one of the counselors (who has lost 140lbs). So, I could actually eat there without worry. AND it was delicious! Blackened chicken & huge salad with a small side of black beans for my bread portion. I didn't feel like I was missing out on anything!

jeweliek: Glad to hear you are feeling OK after your procedure & CONGRATS on the 45 lb board!!

My Shake N Take arrived a few days ago and I LOVE it! Thanks meemo
for the suggestion. I found it on Amazon for just under 20$.

Hope everyone has a great OP weekend!:D

Redgirl,
I live in Rogers but work in Bentonville. I just started MRC. Today is day 7 and I am down 6.5 lbs. I went to 1 class and am going to try and attend at least 2 a month. Maybe we can be weight loss buddies.

If your center has cooking classes, SIGN UP. They are soooo worth it. Ours talks about the rules and how to make food interesting. She always has great ideas and if you ask during will give you tips and ideas on how to do this and still feed your family without making different meals.

Congrats on your 6.5#s!!!! :carrot::carrot::carrot:

Welcome back! Glad you are okay!

I just bought the most awesome gadget! It's a mini blender by Hamilton Beach. This best part is after you make your drink it becomes a to-go cup. I mixed an orange HNS with water and ice and it was wonderful. I can imagine doing all sorts or things with it. My husband is going to be jealous and want one too. It was only $15. in Walmart as opposed to the $30 item that is sold by Sharper Image.

I forgot to mention that while I was at Walmart I also bought some of the 4 oz. screw on top storage containers. Thought I would make some "things" to keep on hand to keep on plan. Such as:
1. spice rub for fish, chicken, and veggies
2. cottage cheese salad dressing
3. melba bread crumbs
4. and one other thing that will use up the last of the cups.

Oh yeah, this morning on my own scale I registered down a pound. Since I am not weighing in until monday I should definitely be on the 10 pound board by then.

In Maintance you are on a modified 1200 cal diet. Over 6 weeks of Stab you work up to 2 servings of dairy a day (yogurt, frozen, milk etc..), 2 fruits a day (increased amounts), 2 veggies, 3 bread servings (expanded choices), 8-9 proteins (increased choices) (we get 10 now or 14 if you are on the plus menu), and 1 fat daily. It is still low cal. It helps to balance things out, when you do want to go to Olive garden... It is just a guide. You do continue to lose in Stab, but not as fast. I lost only 5lbs over the course of the 6 weeks. I would almost recommend getting to your goal before you start Stab. (of course I wouldn't resign for only 5 lbs). But, once in stab you tend to make some additional "Choices" which will slow your progress. But, since you will be working out like a dog, you will probably burn anyway, just not in the Ketosis burn.

??? about meal replacement shakes. How many calories, carbs to the ones from MRC have? Mine only have 100. They are only a few cal higher than creamies. I just wanted to make sure I was taking the right ones. Are the puddings about 80 cal? I don't have any of my old boxes.

Thanks....I actually have 2 weeks until my contract date, but have added on 7 more from promos.....so I have 9 left if I want them. I definately will stick with it to get to 162, which is the goal they set for me. I just don't know what to do about the rest. I want to get to 155, I think. According to the calculators that would put me at 22.5 BMI and I was told anything under 23 will help keep you from getting many forms of cancer. So my decision is really if I want to do the last 7# on plan or with diet and exercise.

Don't get me wrong, I love that I have lost this much weight.....actually if I count the stuff I lost before MRC I am at 66 gone forever!!! I am just a bit disappointed too. I do exercise, but I am a soft, fluffy smaller version of the bigger me. I really want to add muscle tone. The light resistence training and cardio I'm doing isn't cutting it. This works great for losing weight, but now I want to concentrate on building muscle while I am losing the fat layer.

I don't need to be a super model. I don't even want to be the 130 I was before kids. I want to ......
1. Go to waterworld with the boys this summer and not wear a Tshirt over my bathing suit.
2. Go shopping with my sisters without crying!
3. Make my husband's head turn.
4. Feel pride in my body the way I did when I was young and just knew I was hot!
5. Play touch football with the boys and not care that they want to play another hour.
6. Beat my husband at tennis. (I need some arm strength to get the ball moving)
7. Go home in May and make my mom cry!!!! She is struggling with her health so much and she wants us all to be healthy. I just want to show her. She hasn't seen me since last year at my heaviest.
8. Be able to babysit my neices and nephews at the park and not have to go home because "Auntie's tired"
9. I want to be able to count on my body, not change my plans because I am not up to it.
10. Next year at this time I want to run a half marathon!!!

These are my goals. I keep telling everyone to write out their top ten goals that they want to do when they get to goal and here mine are, for you all to see!

I have the Vanilla Wafer Meal Replacement Bars here and they are 200 cal, 9g fat, 13 g of Carbs, 6g of sugar. oh and 15 g protein.
I think the drinks are a little less in cals, but I don't have the info from the box.

The double chocolate pudding is 80 cals, .5 g fat, 7g carbs, 4g sugar and 12g protein. I don't have the other kinds.

I don't remember who shared this site, but many of their drinks are the same as MRC. I checked the orange, hot cocoa, capp., puddings

Thanks, Bonnie2! I am going to get one of these these afternoon (looked it up online). I have been keeping my hand blender on the counter but it's messy and takes up too much space with cord, etc. I can't bear the HNS without giving it a good blending!

I went to WI today and instead of being down the .6 I need for the 40# board, I was UP .6 - but given my day on Wednesday I can't say I was shocked. Talked to a male consultant that came down from Greeley - freaked me out a little bit at first but he was actually REALLY helpful.

Since Jewelie started it and I need it, here are my top ten reasons to continue to push on to my goal:
1. Waterworld! Without shame!
2. To never need to shop in the plus size department again.
3. To put myself in a place of health, that I may never act like an old woman before I really, truly am one.
4. To make my husband's head turn and see a look of pride in his eyes.
5. To insure that my children will always be able to wrap their arms all the way around me.
6. To learn that I can love me, just as God made me.
7. To be a good example in diet and perserverance for my girls.
8. To show up at my in-laws this summer and blow them away.
9. To learn to like exercise (loving it might just be too much!)
10. To learn my way through this process so that I may never have to travel this road again.

Anyone else care to share??

Does anyone know where you can get 40 cal. tortillas? I have looked everywhere. I would like to find corn and flour. Help!:?:

The corn tortillas I use say "thin" on them. They are thinner and thats why they don't have as many calories but they have every bit the taste still.

Wi today. Down 1.5, I thought it would be 2 or 3 but oh well. I got the cranberry grape hns to try and the vanilla pudding to make the cheesecake. I did not like the mixed berry at ALL. It tastes like cold medicine, gag. I found my new favorite place to shop. It is the United Market Street on 98th. Mommato3 your the only one I think that goes to Lubbock. They have a big selection of fish in the meat market (sea bass, orange roughy, cod, halibut, mahi mahi) and they have buffalo sirloin steaks, buffalo rib eye steaks, buffalo roast and ground buffalo. The Buffalo sirloin is only 10.99 a pound! At Walmart it is almost 14 a pound. The produce selection is HUGE, they carry the walden farms stuff. I had the meat market guy cut the sirloins to 6 oz steaks. They even have the Redkin Curl Boost spray for my hair that I have a heck of a time finding, lol.

Anyway, I got to sign the 10 lb board today. I think this is my third week OP and probably they will measure me next week. I'm down for a nap now, I got up WAY too early this morning, my eyes are going cross eyed. :dizzy:

HAHA!!
Tijuana Flats on Eglin. I believe the salad is a healthy variation of the one they normally serve in a large taco shell. Rosanne from Shalimar MRC apparently is the instigator :) I don't believe it's on the menu but they supposedly are very accommodating about fixing it. Jenna is one of the owners and I asked her about it last night and it was no problem!

Top Ten Reasons to Reach Goal Weight......

1. Set an example for my family
2. Match my eating habits with my exercise habits
3. Standing in line at WaterWorld without wanting to hide behind my family
4. Knowing that I can do what I put my mind to
5. Feeling good in the clothes I wear
6. Having a BMI of 19
7. Having my husband and kids love my outside like they do my inside
8. For the 1st time in my life being in control of food, not food being in control of me
9. My M & D come home from AZ in May and having them notice my weight loss
10. Having the whole package - healthy mind, spirit and body

This is great! Write your goals down; it's a motivator!!!

I posted this last night not realizing that the thread was closed. So for all of you up to date gals:

Hi, I'm back from Colorado skiing. Went to wi this morning and was only down .5 lb and was disappointed since I was almost perfect. The only time I didn't follow plan was during skiing the first day I bonked in the afternoon and had to have a mrb because I had muscle tremors and had to stop at the top and rest. I felt like I had really low blood sugar or maybe since it was the first day at high altitude.

The only other thing it could be was not weighing my food and just estimating portions. We had a condo and cooked in and brought lunch for all our meals but no scale to weigh my food.

I was expecting more of a loss. :-(. But I will stick to it and keep on plugging.

Join us and post your top 10 list. Know that you have motivation, support and help RIGHT here. You will get this going.

Have you talked to your councilors and asked what they can do to help you??? Did they give you hints on your food diary? For me I can't do hard cheese every morning (maybe only 1 time each week) when I did egg and cheese sandwich for breakfast every morning I was very slow going and plateaued. I also only do Group 2 proteins once a week. I like to have fish 2 times a week.

Anyway, you can work on your food and get different results.

Ok
the more time I have to sit and think, the more curious I am.....
I went online to find out how many calories I would need to maintain 150 lbs. and a couple of sites gave me 2000-2100 cals.

If during maint. we only get 1200 cal won't we continue to lose weight???? What if you are doing a lot of activity, is that considered???
