GOOD MONDAY MORNING EVERYONE!

Will post my usual morning post sometime later, but wanted to make sure I got our
MOTIVATIONAL MONDAY done early in the morning, so here's my contribution for MM:

http://members.aol.com/debelli/monday_morning_thought.jpg

YOUR DECISION

There are negative influences all around, but you don't have to allow them to control you. There are disappointments which regularly come along, but you don't have to allow them to discourage you. There are lots of temptations, but you don't have to let them distract you. There are plenty of excuses, but you don't need to let them stop you.

You can decide to be discouraged by the setbacks, or you can decide to be motivated even more. It's your decision. You can decide to give up when the obstacles seem overwhelming. Or you can decide to persist and grow stronger.

You can decide to let anger, envy, frustration and bitterness drain your energy. Or you can decide to move beyond them into a more productive state. You can decide to let your fears stop you cold. Or you can decide to let those fears and concerns prepare you to move forward.

You can decide to bury your dreams down deep inside where they'll never see the light of day. Or you can decide to follow those dreams by doing whatever it takes.

You can wish and talk about what you want from life. Yet what you actually end up with depends on the decisions you make as you live each moment.

Good morning everyone.

Hope you all had a good weekend. This is just a quickie to let you all know I haven't got lost. Looking forward to next week when I get to meet the Florida gang. I worked this weekend and had a call this morning to go into work. Have to leave in a couple of minutes. Here's a few comments that I started last nite.

Deb - Glad to hear that Eli's party went off well . Hope he has been able to get some well earned rest since then and that he is feeling better. Congrats on your work/jog to-day. You are breaking your own records every time you go out it seems. That coconut carbolite sounds really yummy. Do you know if they sell it in Orlando?

ZsuZsuu - Glad you will be coming to the Orlando get together. I'm looking forward to meeting you.

Frog - Your dh was a wise guy not to have that shot in his foot. I've had a lot of trouble with heel and foot pain in the past. A couple of years ago when it was bad I had a cortisone shot in the heel. That was the most painful thing I have ever experienced. I would never have it done again. Way to go on the pants. I'm sure they will be fitting you soon.

Kim - Sorry to hear you haven'e been feeling so good. Hope that sore throat is better soon.

Gotta run.

Marie.

Hi all

I am so glad the weekend is over - it was way too busy.

BOB- you are way too funny - yes I did feel like I hit the motherload at Krogers

Deb- thank you so much for all the info on agave. They may be selling it high but if it is getting scarce and becoming unavailable I want to get it anyway. I have looked over the recipe boards and there are so many I would like to try and most call for agave. As for my daughter, she's 16 and yesterday started bugging me that she wants her "old mom" back - the one that went grocery shopping and bought every new goodie that came out. We went to the base yesterday and the gate guard asked if we were sisiters. Now I know the guy was joking but I laughed for hours and she just steamed. Like you said, I plan to give her a run for her money (or clothes).

Beckaboo - welcome. I am really new here too. The hardest part is remembering who everyone is. I jumped back and forth to the photo board and that is helping me keep everyone straight. No pictures of me, I have been hiding from the camera for years.

Slaphappy - Don't get discouraged and believe me, you are not the only one who gets frustrated. I still miss popcorn and cookies. I read all the posts and think how "SB smart" these gals are and wonder if I will ever get like them. Just take it one step at a time - we can do it together.

Gracious & Rosalie - congrats to Canada on the Olympic wins. My grandparents are from Canada and I used to enjoy going to stay with them on school vacations. Of course now that I'm older I am like every other northerner - just trying to figure out how to get to Florida

To all the "sickies" - hope you are all feeling better and have a speedy recovery.

Good Morning!

I have lots to do today! I usually clean my house on Mondays , but I also have to work at DD9's school for lunchroom duty, get the dog groomed, and countless other errands.

Pooch- I also have a DD15 who borrows my shirts all the time. We're going to be in the same jeans size soon and I'm not sure she likes that;).

Tried the Arrownhead Mills buckwheat pancake mix this weekend; I thought it was good and DD9 ate 4, but DH gave it a thumbs down.

Hoep everyone has a productive day :spin:

Today is Day 18 for me on SugarBusters and I can honestly say that this is a fantastic WOE, one that can easily be followed for years to come. I think that is a major benefit of SB. It is realistic and able to fit into most peoples lifestyles, yet effective.

Slaphappy- It is Motivational Monday today so I hope you get *motivated* for this new week. I just wanted to encourage you because I know how it feels when you are so compelled to eat things you shouldn't. I think that is one of the good things that I learned from being on Atkins for 4 months. You can't cheat. You shouldn't cheat. I followed Atkins perfectly for those 4 months and it taught me discipline. It made me understand that it is *just not worth it* to eat that cookie or whatever.
I also think it is a state of mind that we have to get into. In all the years that I have struggled with my weight, I have only ever experienced *that* state 3 times. I am presently on that 3rd time and like the other 2 before, I have lost weight. I cannot explain it but I think the others might know to what I am referring. In any case, keep trying. We are rooting for you!

Quilter- I hope you are feeling better today. Your quote is so true. You never even think of your throat, tooth, whatever, until it is in pain. My husband has been ill for 5 days with the stomach flu. He had it very bad..and we all know what the stomach flu entails. He was saying that being nauseaus is the worst. I said, Whatever it is we have at the time..a sore throat, being nauseated, a toothache...*that* is the worst thing. Then when you are better you just forget about it again.

Big Orange Babe- I couldn't believe this, but I had a dream with you in it last night! I don't even know you but from reading your posts and seeing that couch potato sitting at the end of them must have made a real impression! ;)

Debelli- Could you please direct me to some pages where I can get some of images that everyone attaches in their posts? I have tried to find some myself but am having a terrible time. Thanks!

My parents are visiting for a week from Ontario and they arrive on Friday. My kids are very excited and I will have to get things ready. My Dad is looking forward to learning about SB. Last visit, I got him onto Atkins and he lost initial weight but has been stalled for 2 months. It is making him discouraged and then he starts cheating here and there. He is not as vigilant. I told him about SB and he wants to start when he gets here. He likes me to *babysit* him during the first week of these things to get him started! I think another convert to SB is a great thing.

Happy Monday Morning ladies!

Well, I'm back on the wagon - so MOVE OVER BOB! Thanks for all of the "welcome backs" last week! I only read one day since I posted so I have a lot to read! I'll go back tonight and catch up!

OK - I bought all my SB legal foods yesterday and I threw away all that wasn't! Hubby just left and I told him NO CHEATING!!!!! He laughed and said - but I'm gonna be starvin cause I didn't eat breakfast! HAHA! He doesn't like to eat breakfast - he usually hits the snack machine around 9:00 am and gets chips and a coke! Well, he used to be able to do that with no problems...but times are changing. Now - he is by no means fat...he wears a size 33 pants he just doesn't feel good anymore! I haven't felt good for about 11 years now! HAHA!

We'll walk tonight for the 1st time in ages - that ought to be interesting. First we'll be heading out to the hospital. Hubby's cousin is in ICU - he is about 44 - he had 2 mild heart attacks this past week. He went in on Friday and they did the emergency angiogram and put 2 stints in (I think I have the terms right - correct me if I'm wrong) they were trying to put in a 3rd stint and his body started to convulse so they had to stop. He is like a brother to the both of us so we have spent a lot of time at the hospital this weekend. He and his wife are the ones we go to all of the LSU games with - we absolutely love them! So, this has been especially hard on my hubby.

Well, I weighed in...I was at 277 this morning...UGH So, here we go! I have some goals to reach (some short term ones)..I'll fill you in on them tonight!

Have a great day and I'll see you ladies tonight!

Good morning! Another wild weekend with dd home. I have to take her to the airport later this morning, so no going to work this morning for me. It's funny how when she's at school I don't really give much thought to where she is at any given moment, but when she's home (or at least within 50 miles) I'm panicked when she's not home by midnight. Partly I naively think Columbus is a lot safer than Philadelphia, but in reality 20 year olds in a car aren't all that safe anywhere.

I got a pleasant surprise when I finally weighed myself yesterday: 137, down 3 pounds from where I'd been stuck since starting BFL, adn TOM is on its way, so maybe it'll be less in a few days. I'm going have the trainer at the gym do my body fat % again next week so I can see what the progress really is. I know I've gained a lot of muscle. This means I'm 2 scale pounds from my original goal, but I've probably already lost more fat than my goal. Time to revise the goal, since there's still some real pudgy parts. It's been so long since I saw anything but fat, that I didn't know what to aim for. The last time I was thin, I was anorexic, so that obviously was NOT my goal.

Deb- Don't worry, the nearest Trader Joe's is only 20-25 minutes away. Of course I'll go there for you! Just give me a shopping list. Also can hit Fresh Fields for El Ray Chocolate if you can't get that (73.5% cocoa- yum!)

Frog- I totally agree with BOB about dh's decision to forego the cortisone shot. Have had it twice in the hip, passed out the first time from pain. Have no idea why I let the doc do it again! It only brings short-term relief anyway. Is there some other treatment or is it a "time-heals-all" condition?

Pooch- Somehow I just don't think of Virginia as northern! lol Hope you and the kids are adjusting the life w/o dh for a while.

Shappy- Hang in there! you'll get used to it and realize how much better you feel, look, etc. This is not an instant diet but a long-term way of life. I know Deb won't agree, but I think at some point, you can have planned cheats (like the legal chocolate) once you have your eating under control and it's second nature. Yes, it will slow you down especially if you don't have a lot to lose or you are close to goal, but it's a way of life and we all need to tind a way to make it work for us individually.

gotta go get ds on the bus and run the hopeful dog,

What a great day it will be! My DH took 2 of my DK to school!
That is always a treat. The bus that they would take would pick them up at 6:30 for a school that starts at 8:20!! So...I drive them everyday. It is rare that DH takes them, so I am enjoying a little free time.......not for long. I am babysitting my pastors kids this a.m., so better type quick.

I had seen a few post yesterday, forget from who, but they had said they fit into a new size pants......:) :) :) :) :) CONGRATS!!! That is the best feeling in the world! I hope I can get there as well.

Kim.
I have never been to JJ, but passed it once and seen it on t.v. I would love to go there and since you know the ropes, sounds great. I am about 15 min., from Kenwood and shop there. I also want so bad to go to The Great Indoors by Dave and Busters near Tri County Mall....ever been? I hear it is awesome, expensive, but really neat to look. I have found that I love shopping at the Sams and Costco. With a family of 7, we need bulk!
I hope you are feeling better soon! It is a shame, because it is really nice outside. Yesterday after church I had plans of going outside, but DS10, had bb game and then I had to fix our air hockey table and then get on my tred mill...that makes 2 days in a row.....that is good for me. Time just flies.

Becka..
Welcome. I just came here a few days ago. So far, the group here is really warm and welcoming! I just started SB and swithced from Atkins.

Gracious..
So how has the transiton been for you...going from Atkins to Sb? Have you lost? My Dh has done great on Atkins, but I think he is going to switch. His problem is he is a BIG eater, and Atkins is great for that. The thought of him eating portions seems unreal, but we will see.

This was another full weekend.

We did buy the new car. Dark blue GMC Envoy. Boy is it nice. I have so much room and I can put my granddaughters car seat in it.

Did a little cheating but I think the scale won't show too much. My hubby has noticed the weight that I have lost (10lbs) and that makes me feel great. He is a little jealous since he is also eating the SB way. Sure makes it easy for shopping and meal times.

My son and new daughter in law have found their first new home. They left last week for Northern California to start their new life together. Having a place of their own to live will be easier that living with someone. Especially just getting married and all. Now the next order of business is a job for both. Praying that will be soon.

Well I have to get ready for work.

I'll check back in at lunch time. It is to busy around here in the evening to get any postings in.

Hey all you who get to go to FL. I am jealous. I would love to meet all of you. It sounds like you are going to have a blast...:)

Enjoy the day!!

I am finding the switch easy and enjoyable. I got immediate results...within the first 2 weeks..which is immediate when you were stalled for 2 months! 5 more pounds gone forever!

I was also a big eater like your hubby. But looking back now, I see that I was filling myself with such fat that it is remarkable. I was usually never hungry and sometimes had to force myself to eat. I think I was in starvation mode. At the rare times I was hungry..or just bored...I would grab a bit of cheese (high fat of course), a pepperoni stick, almonds or macadamia nuts. I think that if I had stayed on Atkins BUT watched my fat, I might have kept on losing. The combination of starvation mode and high fat was doing me no good.

Switching to SB has made me aware that I do get hungry now. The difference is that I tend to eat way more veggies as snacks instead of fat laden things. I also believe the fact that I feel hunger is teaching me to control my eating habits. You don't have to control them so much when you are never hungry. Now I make a conscious effort to eat healthier. That is the bonus. I am in this for the long haul and I want my eating to be healthier forever. I want to be able to see food and resist it..actually that is very easy for me now, like I said. Just pick the right food!

You made the switch yourself so how are you finding it?

Hi meliris - I agree with you and don't think of Va as northern either but I'm orginally from Michigan (still have a MI licence and vote there too) so that's home to me. We have moved every 2-3 years so VA is just a another stopping point and don't have any plans on staying. We have lived in Michigan, Lousiana, California, South Carolina, Italy, Virginia, Florida, Guam and now back to Virginia. We hope to eventaully settle down in Florida - MI is just too cold. Since DH isn't through playing "sailor" yet, we are going to try for Hawaii, Key West or Puerto Rico next.

Good morning everyone! I hope the week is off to a nice start for all my fellow SBers!

I was able to pick up three more bottles of Agave this weekend, so I now have a stash of 5. I went to the HFS in Montgomery and they acted like they never heard of the stuff. But my little store here is Auburn seems to reorder every time I go buy out their supply (3). So I will keep buying three at a time if I need to!

I also picked up a couple of the Ferin cake mixes. I made the carob cake Saturday and didn't much like it. I threw most of it away. I also got a spice cake and will save it until I need to go to a party or something.

I made WW pancakes last night--they were very good and the agave makes a wonderful syrup!

I will be going out to dinner every night this week but maybe Thursday--and there is a nagging feeling in my mind that I have something scheduled for Thursday. So I must be extra vigilant with the menu ordering!

Welcome to all the new folks--it seems like we have really had an influx of newcommers in the last few weeks. I love it! your enthusiam helps those of us who have been doing this for a while. And I always learn something new from your questions. So thanks and happy SBing!

Have a good week everyone!

Morning Everyone!

I’s been wonderfully “warm” here lately. Last I heard it may be in the low 50’s today but by Wed/Thurs it could be around 20 and snowing! Probably why DS is sick again. Gonna probably have to take him to the doc. Poor kid.

WHOOHOO Canada won the gold in men’s hockey! Another great hockey game. I sat on the edge of the couch for almost the whole game. It was pretty close up to near the end.

Last night I wrote down some goals that I want to accomplish in the next 3 weeks. At that time we’re going to DH’s brothers and SIL is a toothpick (whom I don’t really care for as she tries to make us feel like the undesirables of the family). Anyway, it’s giving me motivation to really try to stick to eating 100% OP and to continue with the exercising. I’d love to go there wearing tight hiphugger jeans and a shorty tshirt! Don’t think I’ll get to that point in 3 weeks, but thinking about it is more motivation.

WOW! I can’t believe I said “continue” exercising. I absolutely LOVE this exercise plan! I actually can’t wait to do it every day. After every workout, I FEEL skinnier!

I’m going to attempt a few replies! I started this early this morning and went from what little memory I have. Sorry I didn’t get to everyone. I'm going to have to keep a pad by the puter to take notes when I manage to read a few posts. I did try to catch up with everyone from this morning’s posts.

TO ALL THE NEWBIES: There are just so many new faces here! I’m an erratic poster and can’t remember if I welcomed any or all of you. So I’ll just have to say WELCOME to all of you now. This is a great place and everyone is always looking out for each other. You’ll get lots of info, inspiration and support here.

DEBELLI- CONGRATS on your walking, or should I say, JOGGING! That is so amazing that you can run that distance. I agree that for all our weaknesses there is an OP alternative. I was a vote for the salty snacks. I’ve tried the sweet potato chips and they are too sweet for me (I’ve never really had a sweet tooth). But instead of the bad snacks, I can eat triscuits, homemade pita chips and fresh veggie sticks if I wanted the crunch (also better for me!) And I’m sure that for every “weakness” there are a bunch of OP alternatives. I need an "other" tick box for the poll. I've only tried one other WOE and didn't make it to goal.

QUILTER Sorry to hear you’re not feeling well. Hope the sore throat is gone soon. Did I understand from your jab at PC’s that you are a fellow MAC user?

ROSALIE I usually put my bread in the freezer too. I don’t like to freeze bagels cause they take too long to defrost (I don’t like defrosting them in the micro). They didn’t have any of the yummy walnut bread (that’s a GOOD thing) and it looked like a couple of different varieties than last time. Have you packed for Florida yet? You might need to pull out a pair of shorts for today! LOL

FROG Sorry to hear about the problems with your grandmother. Very difficult on the family. I was interested by the diagnosis. My GM sometimes has “spells” of crying or talking of things way in the past like they are current etc. and the “spells” usually come on around 4 in the afternoon. Family was never told a name for the “spells”. I passed along the name of what the problem might be to my mom and aunt so they can follow up on it. I hope your rash is getting better. So annoying. I get a rash on my arms sometimes and put something called “Dermarest Plus” on it. It works wonderfully. It’s got antihistamine and anesthetic in it. Hope the meds you got for your diagnosis are working! Congrats on the pants! I’m LOVING BFL. Right now I’m just doing the exercise part, but I’m going to try harder to following the eating part--keeping it SB legal of course. I didn’t think I would enjoy the weight workouts sooo much. I want to do weights EVERY day. It seemed kind of all of a sudden that I noticed muscles--brushing my teeth I saw my bicep bulging! Where did that come from? I can actually feel all of my ribs and see some of them!

HAPPY You’ve got a great attitude about getting back up from your stumble. C’mon you CAN do it!

MEL Congrats on being down some “fat” lbs this morning. Who’d you end up cheering for in the hockey game?

FRUIT WTG for getting back on the wagon. Sorry to hear about DH’s cousin. I’ll keep him in my thoughts. Hope he’s better soon.

KIMMY You must be a very organized person! You have your own kids, are looking after someone else’s, doing chores. WOW! I get pooped with just one child!

GRACIOUS Glad you are doing well with SB. And that your dad wants to try too. It is just a really healthy way of eating for anyone. Hope you have a great visit with your folks-where in Ontario are they from? I’m just nosey cause I’m just north (by one street) of Toronto.

SEMMENS Too funny you’ll be able to wear DD’s jeans. The mom raiding the daughter’s closet-LOL

RED1 Enjoy your new car! Isn’t it nice when your significant other notices your loss?!! They see us everyday and sometimes don’t notice as much as other people we don’t see often. Keep up the good work.

FILLISE You'll be fine with the menu ordering! Maybe you can get menus or if you know what the places serve, you can preplan your order. Jot it down in your daily planner so you won't forget and be tempted by something else.

Ok, must go. Have a few things to do before DS's doctor app't.

Have a WONDERFUL day all!

The Quilter

I truly hope I'm the only one on this board who feels this way. Got no sleep last night. Luckily, I got a noon appointment with my doctor. She's great. I really like her a lot. So that's probably the extent of my day. Doctor & pharmacy and back home. Whew! What a life.

A couple of quickies:
ROSALIE---Thanks for the well wishes. You vacation is going to be here before you know it. Exciting!!!!

KIMMYTK---I have been to The Great Indoors and it's mind boggling. I only got to spend about 45 minutes and that's not enough time. I spent most of that time drooling in the model kitchens they have. Oh my gosh, they are beautiful. Yes, it is certainly priced high. Although I did find some framed pictures for under $30 which I thought was a great bargain. I was there before Christmas and they had a lot of halloween and thanksgiving stuff/autumnal decorations for great mark downs. Even though DH and I have only one dog, I do know what your life is kind of like. Two of our dear friends are parents to 6 under the age of 11. That's a busy, loud, fun house. We love to visit them. There is always somebody ready to play or read a book or have fun.

GRACIOUS---Thanks for the well wishes. You are so right about what every is making us unwell, is the WORST. It's all about perspective I guess. Hope your hubby is better soon. I do think I have to agree with him that the upset tummy and all that comes with it is the WORST. I would choose this icky throat and gunk over the throwups anyday.

Okay, that's it for me. My appetite is kind of not here. Guess I should take advantage of this feeling of not wanting to eat everything I see.

Have a great day.
Kim

Gracious...
I have had more of a mental problem than anything. When you get used to thinking carbs, for the most part, are bad, then you go back to eating them...it messes with your brain. I like drinking my tea w/ skim milk again. I think I am used to the Splenda now. I was only on Atkins for 4 weeks, and stalled after 5 days.
Once I went off, boom...lost about 2 lounds...but it is my TOM, and not sure. I think that this is an easier WOE/L, that is for sure!

Susanne....
Me, organised??? I guess I have to be with 5 kids. Actually, the 2 kids I am watching are very good! My pastors wife and I help eachother out....I get the easy ones, and she gets my hard ones!:dizzy: They do have one that is potty training and he woin't go on the potty for me. He is my youngest sons age (2) and my youngest trained at 18 months (thank God).

Well, gotta go...kids are done watching Vegie Tails....

Have a great day!

I've been MIA for 3+ weeks!!!! My stress level and lack of time have prevented me reading and/or posting, so please forgive me.

I can see that there are several newbies - MY WELCOME AND HELLO TO YOU ALL  - This is a great support group, you'll love it here!!

Hopefully, in the next few weeks I can get back on track with the SB WOE (yes, I fell off the wagon and have tire tracks all over me) and catch up with all of you. My surgery is scheduled for this Thursday - I can't remember, maybe I didn't tell you guys, but my pap came back bad again and the doc and I decided a hysterectomy was the best choice, since I had a variety of concerns/complains and was about to have a tubal done anyway... It all came down to how many trips to the office and how many procedures I wanted to chance going through vs. taking care of all of it in one big WHACK!! He is very hopeful that he will be able to do it the "V" way (much easier) rather than with a big incision. He plans to go in below my B-button with a scope and laser and cut away any scar tissue from my teenage surguries that might hinder his ability to go the easy route. He can also get a good look at my remaining ovary that way and make sure it looks OK to leave or needs to go as well! I'm honestly not very nervous, but it isn't Wednesday yet. I've been trying to get everything at work and home in tip top shape before time runs out, so DH won't have it quite as rough!! You know, they say I won't even be allowed to lift a gallon of milk or drive for 3 weeks!! Yikes - Oh well, I am due for some down time, both physically and emotionally (the pain meds should take care of my emotions :dizzy: ).

Gotta run, just wanted to catch up with you guys and let you know I still love you all and haven't forgotten about you!

Good Morning Once Again!

Now's my time to get my post in, no one home:D

Well, I don't know how in the heck I did it, but I HAVE A NEW BEST JOG/WALK TIME!!!! I did my 4.5 miles in 41:06. Honestly, I felt like my butt was dragging and didn't think at all that I would have any time like this-it's 2 minutes 22 seconds less than my previous time-just doesn't seem possible, but that's what my timer said. I did a straight run of 4.05 miles again, didn't think I'd even get in 3.5 miles today but pushed myself. I have to say, it's a gorgeous day and not hot, so maybe that helped.

Well, as expected, if you read my post from yesterday about the MEGA CARBOLITE I ate:ink: and how I predicted I'd be up on the scale-well, I was correct! Even after having tummy trouble from eating all of that Carbolite and running to the bathroom, one would think the scale would be down-but NOOOOO:nono: it's up. I'm not fretting though, I knew this was going to happen-this is the 3rd time I've had a mega dose of Splenda and each time this happens! Now you see why I don't like the stuff. In small quantities it doesn't bother me, but in a large amount all at once-big problems! Actually, when I woke up it was 1lb higher than a little later when I weighed myself again, but still, I'm up!

I was in touch with SUZANNE from 3FC'S fame. She made a few changes upon a couple suggestions. First, you can now see 20 threads on a page vs the 15 we had before (still liked the really old way of 30) and she added a few more smilies, so make sure you check out some of the new ones! For those of you who are new but have read about the NC get together in Oct.-SUZANNE is planning on coming-our guest of honor-so that's exciting!!!

I have to tell you all I've been eating and loving the fruited yogurt I've been making! It's delicious.:T I've taken raspberries, strawberries, peaches, pears, apples, etc and I put them in the food processor and then freeze them in an ice cube tray. I put one with 6oz ff yogurt and a packet of Stevia-it's soooo good!!!!

BECKA, WELCOME TO THE BOARD! When you get a chance, let us know a bit more about yourself.

BOB, of course I'd ask you to drive 4 hours-I know you and the way you like to shop-you'd be killing 2 birds with one stone. Luckily, MEL doesn't have to even go an hour-so that's good. I'll ask the big boy what the canisters cost and get a tally for you.

HAPPY, I think what GRACIOUS said to you hit it right on the head. You have to want this more than anything else and excuses are easier than staying OP at the beginning, but if you could just stay focused and on track for a few days you'll see it will be easy to keep yourself on that path. There is not ANYTHING that I am doing that you can't be doing yourself. I wanted this more than anything in the world. It's in your reach, you just have to make the steps in the right direction. I am bringing pita up for hummus and for others own private stash. I think SOL will have some SB LEGAL BREADS. I'd probably say tuna over cold cuts-hard to find cold cuts without sugar-though, you could make something easy off the recipe boards-it's fun to try a variety of SB LEGAL FOODS that others make. If you have something in mind, but don't have a recipe, let me know, I can make some suggestions. BUT, whatever is easiest for you. When I go to OLE OLE I get a COBB SALAD-the dressing is to DIE FOR!!!! Oh, and I eat the salsa with a fork;)

QUILTER, hope you are feeling better today!!! Hey, if you eat as much Carbolite as I did, you could just jet propell yourself around town-definitely gas me some mean gas attacks last night. Can't hold it in and explode now, can I? Isn't that cool with Tinkerbell. Found it on a website with names. Got a gal to e-mail me my name with a fairy-see below!!!

ROSALIE, Eli's getting the rest, I'm not. His coughing still kept me up last night, but not as bad. I'm sure to hit the hay after EVERYONE LOVES RAYMOND tonight-and I'm hoping it's a repeat so I can get in bed even earlier. I'm not sure if there's a place in Orlando that has the Carbolite, but I will call the company and see if they possibly know of any places! Umm, while I just typed this I just called, there's not place in the Orlando area, but boy, did I get some info! They've re-done their nutritional information and what I thought I was eating was NOT what I was eating-more calories, now it has some fat, sugar grams-no wonder I gained!!!! Nope, this info will definitely be curtailing how much of this I consume in the future!!! If you hadn't of asked me to look, I wouldn't of known, so THANKS!!!! Will post more info about this later.

POOCH, I know what you mean about the agave, if I didn't have stock I'd surely pay a bit extra for it just to have it. There's so many great things to make with it on the recipe boards-let us know what you eventually try it in and how you like it. How did you know the guy was joking at the base-maybe he was serious!!!

SEMMENS, if you come across the FEARN SGWW Pancake mix-it's delicious and worth a try!!!

GRACIOUS, I couldn't of said what you did any better about this WOE! It's good to see such enthusiasm!! Try this site for lots of links to gifs on the web: http://www.geocities.com/~dotcombs/graphlnk.html Just want to make sure they are 40K or less and will fit on the screen.

FRUIT, glad to see your post! Looking forward to having you back with us now. Sorry to hear about DH's cousin-hope things work out okay and he gets better quickly. Enjoy your walk with DH tonight-not only are you both doing something good for yourselves, but the time spent together is great as well!

MEL, CONGRATS-geez, 3lbs, that's awesome. I'm not going to be able to see you when we meet, you're wasting away!!! I'll get my little list together for you-really, it's not much-if you could bring cheese, it would be a bit bigger (don't laugh, I brought cheese home in one of their insulated bags they sell when we were in Calif/Vegas), but otherwise, it's really a small list-thanks, you're an angel!
EL RAY IS GOOD, but how's their price on it there? Whole Foods is expensive down here on it. LMK if you know the price, off hand.

KIMMY, glad you got a break from taking 2 of the DK's today. My kids have never been bused and we always take them-never late, never abscent!!!

RED1, Congrats on the new car and to the newlyweds new home! Hope you can make it to NC in Oct-that will be a blast for sure. Wish everyone could join us in Orlando too!

FILLISE, good to hear you got more agave-why not just ask them to order you a case and see if they can give you a better price since they don't have to stock it. You didn't like the carob cake mix-I love it!!!! Oye, you threw it away-I'd die first!!!! Actually, I had to throw one away not too long ago, it was old-unfortunately there's no exp. dates on them, it tasted nasty.

ZANNE, keep up the exercise-makes you feel good doesn't it!!! You could always make your own sweet potato chips. I love pita chips-you should see if you can get this middle eastern spice mix called ZATAR, it's delcious on the pita chips!!

TV, of course we missed you-WELCOME BACK!!! I'm sure I can say that we all wish you the best of luck with the surgery and hope this will take care of the problems you've been having. PLEASE let us know how everything goes-you will surely be in my thoughts!

Whew, done! Have to get in the shower and run some errands. I'll check in with you all later.

Please remember, TOMORROW NIGHT IS CHAT AT 9:15PM EST!

Hello!

I was super busy this weekend, so I just tried to read the posts, but didn't quite make it to reply to any of them. It seemed to be that many of us had eating struggles during this weekend, also, I now understand why it is a problem to eat OP when you are busy. Wow! Saturday was really bad. I don't think I ate that much of SB illegal stuff, but I know I ate too much at one sitting, because I was soooooo hungry. By DBF said it was the most he has ever seen me eating at one sitting. When I got home that night, I was still hungry, so I made a chocolate fat free, sugar free fudge. Yum!

HAPPY - Don't despair girl. This will be a much better week, if not, then we'll send you into the Debbie dungeon (she can tell you all about it!). You know you are beautiful, but now you have to believe in it too, and make your body follow what you know is your desired shape. The wise say that it is all in our head, our conception of ourselves, and in order to transform our body, we must first believe in the trasformation and envision it. We need to convince ourselves that the progression to our ideal sense of selves is natural and only logical. You can keep telling yourselve - I deserve to have the body I desire. I am a consciensious eater. I am a happy, satisfied person. With every step and every breath I am closer to my goal. I am focused and determined. I will prevail.
Have faith Happy! You'll get there!

RED - Congratulations on your car purchase! How exciting! Actually two big steps in your family, a car and a house. May they both be flawless and have a long happy service in your family.

MELIRIS - Congratulation on your Loss! Wow you're almost there!:D Soon we'll be reading about your maintenance accomplishments!

QUILTER - Everybody around me is sick, and having a bunch of sick kids breathing on me....well, thanks for the warning. I am thoroughly enjoying being healthy:lol: I just got off a terrible cold so ----- try plantain tea (if you can find it), or Plantain extract. Also, propolis is good for sore throat. Good luck! keep saying to yourself, I WILL BE WELL SOON!

ROSALIE - 12 days to go!!!

DEBBIE - I talked to SOL this weekend. Poor girl has all sort of boring paperwork to do, that's why she hasn't been around. We are determined to meet on Friday, and hit downtown WP.
Good going on that RUN! WOW! If I didn't have all those pots to throw, house to clean, and excuses to make, I would be doing it every day too. Right.

POOCH - Congratulations on the pant fit! What a great feeling! I know some of the girls buy smaller sizes to have goals, but for me, the best feeling so far was fitting in a pair of old jeans. Was that your goal size, or are you going for smaller?

WELCOME to all the newbies!

I have been lurking for a while and thought I would stop and say hello.

I started on SB about a month ago, after following Atkins for almost four years. I have thyroid problems, and insulin resistance, and did not lose on Atkins.

I switched because my husband pointed out to me that insanity is doing the same thing over and over, and expecting different results. He was right...Atkins did not work for me, and it was time to change. I was reluctant though, since I loved eating all I wanted, or could hold and not gaining.

Since I started SB on 1/21/02 I have lost 15 pounds, and I feel much better than I did on Atkins. I use a computer program called Diet Power to keep up with my calories, and ratios of fats, carbs and protein. It has been very helpful.

I live in Georgia, have three kids, 23, 20 and 16. The 20 year old is getting married in June, so I will be mother of the bride, and I would like to lose enough to feel good about walking down that aisle for all to see! :o Since the thyroid problem was undiagnosed for years I have about 100 pounds to lose.

WHOOHOO!!! I just had to share with everyone! I was looking at how much room I have in my jeans (I refuse to buy any "on the way down" sizes) and decided to try on an old pair. I couldn't believe how well they fit!!! I had them on last week for a couple of hours (brought a bigger size in case I got uncomfortable!! and DID have to change) but today they are a lot more comfortable! Yeah!

I know it's hard sometimes to stick with this WOE and to get in your water and exercise. I've fallen many times. Took me 3 tries to finally get into the groove of my exercise. :sheep: :strong: I've now done it for 3 weeks straight. And I'm seeing results.

So those of you who are a little discouraged, please keep trying! You will get results!

DEBELLI Congrats on another new time! WOW! You're gonna have a great finish for the marathon. Thanks for the name of the mix. Would I find it in the grocery store or the HFS? I'm just not too fond of sweet potatoes.

TV I hope your surgery goes well. You've got a great frame of mind about it and that is very important. Keep us posted on your progress.

Ok, time to take DS to the doc. Talk @ you all later.

Good mornin'! We're all feeling better at our house today. Still sniffling and sneezing, but better anyway. Sarah was up late last night with a tummy ache. They are doing standardized testing this week in her grade and she gets a little stressed out.:( She was OK this morning. I'm sure she will do well. I've got a really good attitude this morning about eating. I've decided to really stick with it and stay on the wagon.:D Of course the weather isn't going to cooperate so I can walk.:nono: The high today is supposed to be in the upper 60's and the low tonight 15! What's the deal? Anyway, I'll stay OP even if I can't get out and walk.

Jeanie: Sorry I haven't found out about the UIL business. I'll ask my principal today.

Zanne: Is there one of those SIL's in everyone's family? UGH. Good for you tho for making those goals. I know you can do it.:)

Gracious: I know what you mean about the fat. I still have trouble with my fat intake. It's hard to get my protein in without jacking up the fat. Any hints?

Red1: I'm jealous. A new car! Good for you. We will have our car paid off in two more months.:smug:Then we will start looking for a van probably around the end of the year.

KimmyTK: Isn't it ridiculous how early the bus comes by? It's nice that you and DH can drive them to school. I'm so glad that I teach and bring the kids (the two older ones anyway) with me.

Meliris: WTG on the loss.

Fruit: Welcome back on the wagon. It's great your DH is doing this WOE with you. I wish mine would. Hope you hubby's cousin recups quickly.

Quilter: Hope your sore throat is better today. Mine hasn't been sore-just sinus headaches and coughing. Dennis has strep tho. I told him not to breathe on me.:nono:

Gotta go check on my kiddos. They are at lunch in a few minutes. Hope y'all have a great week.

hi evryone.

it is really something how many posts we have already this week!to all the new members this is a great place to find support and inspiration.
i had a bad weekend, eating that is. i had prepared all of my son's fav foods as he was home from college and i must confess i fell way off the wagon. it is amzing to me that i did so well over the holidays with all those tempting goodies and even managed the girl scout cookies without even a taste. but of all things it was potato salad and lemon bars which killed my willpower! by sunday afternoon i felt like i had the flu, tired achy and very cranky! my blood sugar was the highest it had been since september and it is a good thing i am off today because i still feel bad. it is definitely not worth it! so, i am back on track today no more stuff like that in the house!

the agave came in so i will pick it up later today when i pick up dd from school. this time iit was $2.26 per bottle or $27.12 per case of 12. so marie and sue i will bring it to orlando on the 9th.

hope everyone is feeling better and that all have a great legal week!

Zanne, we used to be neighbours! I lived in Richmond Hill for 8 years and moved to NB just over 1.5 years ago. My parents live in Bolton so they are a lot further away from the grandchildren now and it drives them crazy! They come for frequent visits and I think that is great.

I would be interested in finding out the products you use for SB. I saw you mentioning some bread and so on but I would like more details if you find the time. As you know, the Americans seem to get all the best products and we really have to work at finding special items. Any help would be appreciated.

Monet!! It is so good to see you here. Monet is a wonderful person from another board that got me switched from Atkins to SugarBusters and I am so grateful to her for it.

I know that the people here are very friendly and will welcome you just like they did me. Please be sure to share your advice with us here, Monet. I know you do so much reading and have learned a lot, even though SB is still new to you too.

JUST A QUICKIE...I'M AT WORK AND THIS IS A :nono:

KIM...Go to TARGET...I got one for SKEETER there for $19.99 that is MADDIE size...these at BIG LOTS are not really big enough for him, but we only put them down when we leave him by himself.
His payback is to have a convenient accident while we're gone! :s:
The one at TARGET is wonderful and has cedar shavings...and a washable cover!

Just thought I'd have tea with my SB buds! I seem to have found my pattern! I do a lot of posting on Mondays and then just a couple of more times during the week. I do like to keep up with everyone and TRY to read all the posts.

VESNIOD I've had days like that! For some reason I cannot stop being hungry. You made good SB choices, so that's a good habit to have.

MONET WELCOME! Good for you on losing 15 lbs! That's quite an accomplishment. Just keep doing what you're doing and you'll feel REAL good walking down the aisle!

MUSICTEACH Glad your household is feeling better. Great news that you're back on the wagon! If you can't go out walking, do you have stairs you could go up and down? Or what about just walking in place while watching TV? May look funny, but at least you'd be moving.

BKM Glad you're back on the wagon too! That wagon's been busy rounding up people:lol: Hope you get your sugar regulated soon so that you feel better.

GRACIOUS I moved from Richmond Hill 9 years ago! Used to live on Major Mack between Bayview and Yonge. Small world! The bread Marie and I have been buying is called Stonemill bread. It's made in Scarboro. If you go into their site: www.stonemillbakehouse.com there's a place where you can find out if they carry it in your area and at what store. I don't really have too many brands I buy. Oh, I do get the Catelli WW pasta. Comes in a couple of shapes and the regular spaghetti. I buy brown rice and lots of fresh and frozen veggies and fruit. Loblaws has this great frozen fruit that I found in the frozen pie section. I like the peach/rhubarb/strawberry combo the best. I use it to make Deb's smoothies. I buy deli roast beef, lean ham and turkey breast. WW pita breads are great for making individual pizzas (had that last night:T ) and baked pita crisps. I usually try to get my SB stuff in the regular supermarket. If you need more info, email or PM me:)

Ok, I've been working at this for a while and I'm sure someone else has since posted.

Gotta go pick up the meds for DS. Doc called to say he has strep!

Thanks for the suggestion on Fearin mixes Debbie; I'll pick up the pancake mix.

I was happy to find out that whole wheat couscous is indeed legal; I picked some up at TRADER JOE'S for only 99 cents!

Have to scrounge some dinner since everyone else wants pizza.

Great way to start an SB post eh?

Deb- The choc is expensive: $7.99/lb for El Ray and $8.59 for Sharffenberger 70%. I haven't tried the sch...er yet, just bought it. I only eat about a 1/2" chip at a time, so the stuff lasts forever. Let me know if you want some. I can bring cheeses (I think, obviously I haven't packed yet!) so send me your whole wish list and I'll fit in whatever I can. I once came home from France with LOTS of stinky cheeses wrapped up and hidden in socks and underwear. Don't know which smelled worse. I promise I won't wrap your cheeses in my laundry!

Gracious: I used to live at Bayview and Leslie, and before that, at Yonge and Steeles. But that was before North York was a major city! And from the posts we see, Zanne and Marie and finding some pretty good legal stuff in grocery stores there. I think the difference might be more that you're in NB. I always thought TO was a food mecca!

Zanne- WTG on the exercise!:strong: :strong: Doesn't it feel great? (when it doesn't hurt, that is) We ended up cheering for the Canadian team, they deserved it more. But I did feel bad for John LeClair and Jeremy Roenick who are my favorite players.

Monet- Welcome! Congrats on the sucessful switch from Atkins. I never tried it, but I do believe this is a much healthier and sustainable way of life. Does you husband do Body for Life? What he told you is a quote right out of the BFL book, which I'm doing now after 6 months of straight SB.
Keep up the good work.

Thanks everybody for your kind congrats.
Vesna- I can't ever imagine being in maintenance mode. The whole concept is foreign, since I always seem to be in struggle mode. And even tho I originally posted 135 as my goal, it was just a # pulled out of an optimistic hat. I had no idea what I'd look like at 135 since it had been 17 years since I'd been there. Looking in the mirror, I've got a lot of work to do still! I want to see rock hard abs!

BKM- sorry to hear about the wagon tracks running over your face! I'm sure with the successes you've had, you'll be right back on track. Now you know truly how much better this WOE is for you and how fast you can feel like %*$&% again! Climb back on!

meliris- Isn't it curious how you can find people on the web that have an association with you somehow? That is a bustling part of town now and it is true, you can find just about anything in Toronto. New Brunswick on the other hand....I might as well be on an ice float in the Atlantic! ;) Well, maybe that is a slight exagerration! hehe

music teach- I have cut my fat down drastically and I know it is difficult with certain meats. I have changed to some good deli meats without additives and that are low in fat. That works for lunches and dinner in a pinch. I had a t-bone steak last week and it was a good thing I had my fat intake down pretty well for the rest of the day. I did go over, but it was worth it for that steak! I aim more for chicken and fish now. I love beef but that is more of a treat because of the fat. I had a pork chop for dinner tonight and I am afraid to look that one up! My fat for the day has been low though so we shall see. I have actually been under my minimum carb/prot/fat ratio every day except that T-bone day. I am finding it hard to eat that much! Oh..I also eat chick peas and some beans on certain days for my protein instead of meat..they are low in fat.

zanne- Thanks for the pointers. I have done without WW pasta so far since I am accustomed to go without because of Atkins. I will try it in the near future though. I try to buy *natural* foods too instead of packaged lower carb products anyway. Seems more of a realistic WOE that way. I eat Mozart Whole Grain Rye bread from Supercentre (Loblaws) and find it to be small but yummy. Other than that all my food is the normal stuff in the grocery store.

Soups---this is for anyone. Are there any canned soups we can eat on this WOE? I had a cup of Habitant Pea Soup one day last week. There is no added sugar and everything in it is legal. Peas, water, salt and lard. I just wondered about other ones out there.

Dressing---I am finding that my dressings that I ate on Atkins are not acceptable because of the fat and the sugar in them. Kraft ones mainly. I have used Ultra Low Fat Italian since switching to Sb even though it is not ideal. Today I made my own: 1 tbsp. red wine vinegar, 2 Tbsp. olive oil, ground pepper, salt, onion powder and garlic powder. It was all right...not my favourite, but I could get used to it. I would like more taste though. Anyone have a basic dressing recipe like that?

Zanne

MEL- You had to mention CHOCOLATE! I've been craving it all afternoon (TOM due any day) and I've been good. Chose an apple and 1/2 pork chop instead. (hey, that's a BFL meal!) I still wanted chocolate after eating dinner. Just went searching for my legal bar. 1/2" square seemed to do the trick.

Get OUT!! Yonge and Steeles??!!! Centerpoint Mall (used to be called Town and Country) OMG! That's where I am! Very small world. I remember you mentioning living in Toronto when I come to the board. Didn't realize where. (Maybe I'm living in your old house:lol: )

Hey I remember when it was called Town & Country! I grew up between Woodbridge and Kleinburg so we would go shopping at Hillcrest Mall, Town & Country and the Woodbine Centre when that opened.

I just checked the fat for my so called homemade dressing. I should have used 1 olive oil and 2 red wine vinegar! My fat for the day went mostly to that silly salad. It has 2 Tbsp oil and therefore 27 grams of fat.....yikes!!! Maybe my Kraft Ultra Low Fat is still better for me. With 1 tbsp of oil it is still 13.5.

I really need suggestions for dressings..please!

Zanne

GRACIOUS We were posting at the same time.

For dressings, I usually make my own. BOB posted a recipe (JAN/FEB/MAR recipe board) for Greek salad dressing. It sounded pretty much like one I've been making for years (BOB--do we have the same book?) and it has oil and red wine vinegar. I marinate veggies in it and then grill them!

I usually just mix my greens with some oil, red wine or apple cidar vinegar and a sprinkle of salt. Sometimes I slice a clove of garlic real thin into the salad too.

My fridge door has one whole shelf with Kraft dressings I rarely use. I should actually look thru them for expired ones!

Hope that helps a little

I hope that all of you who had OP challenges over the weekend will realize that "TOMORROW IS ANOTHER DAY" as my favorite Southern Belle says. We really do need to put yesterday behind us and press on toward our goal - feeling better and eating healthy. The weight loss is an added benefit. Just take one day at a time.

TV - You'll be in my prayers this week.

Deb: Congrats on your times. Putting one foot in front of the other and getting my bootie out the door is a super challenge for me. I used to walk 3 miles every day about 10 years ago. I lost 50 pounds on JC - one of the two times I actually made my goal. But nothing works permanently unless you change your life - right? And I'm doing that now.

Tina: Thanks for helping. I'm going to call a MS music teacher who has the UIL book and have her check the rules. We're even thinking about explaining the situation if they do say she can't compete. Any other year they'd be going to UIL.

Missy: WTG on the clean-out. I have had to do this WOE with 3 family members who don't follow it. That means having all the sweets and junk around, because they don't have the weight problem that I do. I have really done remarkably well with it all. I am not even tempted to eat the chips or cookies.

BKM: I ended up with 10 boxes of GS cookies! But I haven't eaten even one. I keep thinking about the stall I'm in and use that as my motivation for not eating any.

I have to go cook supper for the family now. I'm sorry I didn't get to address everyone.

Have loser week, everyone!

BOB You're a gal after my own heart, er, stomach! I could be in that site for hours! Thanks loads!:T :T

here's a recipe from the site BOB just posted. It's for apple oatmeal muffins. I think it's legal if we omit the raisins. I need a wee bit of guidance here.

Zanne- I hope you're not living in our old house! Last time we were there, we did the "we used to live here" tour and discovered our first house (all 800 square feet of it, pre-metric) had been demolished for one of those 3 story Italianate megahouses that covered the entire building lot!
Poor little ole house! It was such a classic bungalow, but so small we moved after 1 1/2 years so we wouldn't kill each other. I remember Town and Country Mall, but wasn't Woodbine a race track? Lotta years ago.

3 DAYS TILL REGISTRATION!!!!!

11 DAYS TILL THE GALS START PARTYING DOWN IN O-TOWN!!!!!! :jig:

OKAY, BOB!!! So I had a BLONDE moment! If you like that one....just wait - there's LOTS more of those to come!

GRACIOUS - The SugarBusters book has some good recipes for dressings in the back. There's one I love with blue cheese....Mind you, they taste nothing like the traditional dressing names that they have, but they are good nonetheless. I think most ranch and caesar dressings are pretty okay as well. I may have posted some from the SugarBusters for Kids book on here, too. I can't remember. I DO make some of the recipes from there, but I photocopied those out of the book and had to return it to the library.

As for soup --- Girlfriend, if you find something PLEASE let me know!! I'm a sucker for a good, comfort bowl of soup and have scoured Orlando with not muchsuccess. I did make (I think it was Zanne's recipe) Fresh Tomato Provincal or something like that. It was absolutely yummilicious!! A big bowl of that with a smashed grilled cheese adn my cold was getting better in no time! I have an awesome recipe for FRENCH ONION that I've been too lazy to post on here, but I'll try to get to it this week. It's so quick and easy and delicious! I now feel selfish for not having posted it. :moo:

VESNA YOU GO GIRL!! It takes me 1 hour 3 minutes to go 3.5 miles and that's with no one stopping to check SMELL MAIL with me!

QUILTER I HOPE YOU'RE FEELING BETTER!!!

FROG WANNA SEE THAT SASSY NEW LOOK!!

It's Frog here in her usual sleepy state. I  getting up and getting the gym outta the way but I am tired when I get home from work. It was lower body day at the gym for me and I got a major Charlie Horse kinda pain while doing lunges  My toosh is still sore tonight. But HUGE reward for me when I came home to get ready for work... I was prepping to hop in the shower and DH said "OOOOO!!! I can see your intercostals ("rib meat")! I was STOKED! I feel stronger :strong: and feel like I am seeing a change but is great when he notices it too! Plus he has the best excited sounds around. Speaking of ribs...

DH's parents are on vacation and are having to cut it short because FIL pulled a muscle in his ribs and is in pain. Hard to fish for the big game fish when you're in pain. He thought he was having a heart attack and they took him to the emergency room after he laid in bed all night with pain followed by a day of fishing! Thankfully he checked out ok and will be headed back to NC from Maimi over the next 2 days. They seem to think he did it carrying a heavy suitcase up the hotel stairs. He doesn't seem to realize what his limitations are. Isn't that just like a man?

Got called a nasty name by a 3 year, 1 month old today. I was "the enforcer" of the rules and his behavior was really awful (spitting, hitting, kicking, throwing the test kits, climbing out of the chair, falling on the floor, fleeing the room, etc.) so I was attempting to assist him with complying and he said "Such a beeeetch!" twice! OMG!

At Deb's request I am pulling together some info about the beach for the retreat in Oct and will post pics after my visit in April/May. I hope to have the info (minus the pics) available in a week or so.

Dixie Dog is gonna have her teeth cleaned Friday - 2nd attempt. Please keep your fingers crossed and PRAY that we don't have another major trauma/event like we did last time. Can't handle that again! DH wants her to have the cleaning but can't take her, just to upsetting.

One of my favorite co-workers brought a HUGE box of homemade cupcakes to work today. I'm talking HUGE box! It seems his friend is taking a cake decorating class and decided to leave about 3 dozen cupcakes at his house! He knew there was no way he was gonna keep those around so he brought them to work. Another coworker and I promised each other we wouldn't eat one. Knew I could keep a promise that I made someone else better than one I could keep to myself, especially when it comes to food! :ink:

There are several I want to respond to but I am soo tired so I will have to keep it brief.

DEB - Way to go on the run time! :smoking: BTW - Suzanne will be a special guest, but YOU are the guest of honor at the beach! No kidding! Great motivational quote!

SOL - That registration time is almost here! Are you registering online? I hope it will be up and running by Friday. Woooo this is really getting exciting! :D

Hope everyone has a great nite!

Peace,
FROG

Hi All!
First and foremost, thank you all for your supportive posts. Deb, I feel like your Motivational Monday quote was written especially for me :) I had a much better day today. No sugar so far! I plan on having some cheese and yogurt for my snack tonight. Have to get on my water though.

I am anxiously awaiting some Agave syrup so that I can try some of the recipes.

I am trying to think of something exciting to bring to Sol's but haven't come up with anything as of yet!

Well the kid is crying because it's past his bed time and he's making me crazy wanting a "bedtime snack". So I better go.
Take Care all. and again thanks for the support.

MELIRIS- Yes, my hubby does do Body For Life! Great program! I had forgotten that was in there! Now I can tease him for stealing that line!

GRACIOUS: Thanks for the kind words. I am so glad to see you so successful. I wish some of those others who have stalled back on the other board would listen and change too!

Thanks for the welcome.

Can I ask what the 3 days until registration thing is?

Today, I was naughty. I made ww bagels, and ate two, then nibbled on another one. I stayed within my calories for the day, but had too much fat.

My doctor started me on a medication called Glucophage to help my insulin resistance. Does anyone on here know anything about it?

Evening Ladies!

How's everyone this evening? Sounds like everyone is doing really well...I skimmed the posts...so many people! It's hard to keep up! I wish I had time to post to everyone but I'd be up all night!

Thanks to those of you who have had my DH's cousin in your thoughts/prayers - he is doing much better today and he was able to "step-down" out of ICU. We spent the evening with him tonight. We ended up missing our walk because we were at the hospital - but that's ok - he's too important to us!

TV: I'll say a little prayer for you on Thursday. I'm sure everything will be just fine! I know that I'll be in your shoes one day! Let's just hope I can have a little one before then!

DEB: Way to go on your run! That's fabulous! You sure are making tracks girl! I sure wish I could meet with y'all in Orlando or the NC trip in October. Maybe one day I'll make a gathering!

GRACIOUS: We actually have SugarBuster brand dressings here. We have Ranch, Thousand Island, and Ceasar. If you want me to send you some I will. Get my e-mail from Debbie or Bob and I'll be happy to mail you some - not a problem. We also have SB brand icecream - but I think that would melt! HAHA!

JRED: I've been doing this WOE off and on for a while now and the entire time I've had to cook something different for my DH. he would eat the main meat that we had but I would have to make mashed pots. for him while I eat beans or something like that. not fun - this will be better with him following the plan 100% with me!

FROG: How funny is that BEEEECH! You wouldn't think kids that age would say such things huh? You'd be surprised! I teach first grade and they don't curse but I know they hear it all the time at home! So, I'm sure when I turn my back they flip me off and curse me out! HAHA!

Well, I think I had a good day. I got on the scale and I weighed the same as I did this morning which is a really good sign. You know - you usually weigh about 2 pounds less in the morning than you do at night! So, that would mean a good loss for me on my first day! But, I always lose fast the 1st week or 2....so we'll see! Talk to you gals tomorrow!

MONET: You must have been posting at the same time as me....I have 2 friends that also have PCOS like me and their docs put them on that same medication. They were also trying to get pregnant and it was helping them with their hormones or something like that. I'll check with them when I see them to get more information on it. Actually they are both pregnant now. One of the girls works with me but she has been put on bed rest for the rest of the school year. The other friend I see periodically around town. So, I'll get the scoop whenever I see them. I was never put on anything yet. I supposedly have a "mild" case of PCOS. My fertility specialist will do hormone treatments of some sort once I lose my weight but I'm not sure what type of meds I'll be on. He doesn't want to do anything until I lose the weight...you know how that goes! Well, I'll get some info for you as soon as I can!

Hiedie Ho All!!!!

It seems like I have been at a standstill for so long. But things seem to be changing again. I have been in a constant struggle since the holidays, not really eating what I shouldn't just not being perfectly on OP. Shirley needs to get her groove back!!!

Have been doing my NH bit and then going to execise afterwards, the buildings are in the same complex. I have upped my time on bike and arm mixmaster.

I made the WW Muffins. My family thought they had no flavor, I didn't think they were that bad. I would make them again only add a little salt. Recipe said it made 12, I got 18. I also made the creamy chicken tonight. Left it on stove for family so don't know if they like it or not.

After I fix supper i usually come upstairs. Meals are rarely eaten together here, either because of schedules or we all like different TV shows. DIL didn't get home until after 6:30 tonight.

Thanks for all your input on hands, agave, feet, etc. Really appreciate it.

I was amzed, I looked at Board earlier and only two pages. When GD got done with computer I looked and there were four! MY gosh, we are a prolific bunch!!! Very wordy!!!

FROG - Have heard of your GM's type of dementia just never heard that term before. To my knowledge it is a progressive thing, no miracle cures! I would start monitoring her meds if possible, especially the evening ones to be sure she is taking them.

BECKA - Welcome. I love HI, my DD lived there and I was able to visit her. She lived in Kona.

THE TWO OHIO KIMS: I had to chuckle when I saw Mt. Airy, that is the name of a resort town in the Poconos! Doesn't look like I will be visitng OH again. My DIL's parents have just bought a house in FL. In the Ocala area.

QUILTER : Nice chatting with you. My DD is working with her cousin on my MILs side of the family. It is quite a task. Hope you are feeling better.

ZANNE: I can't find legal WW bagels around here, I did the make the ones on the board and they were pretty good.....not a NY bagel good, but good. I freeze them, pop them in microwave for about 10-12 secs, they still have a touch of frost, slice and toast. Pretty good. Toasting helps with flavor and I like the crunch it gives.

TV - Of course you were missed!!! Hope all goes well with surgery. I was old enough and had problems enough they took everything, both ovaries included. Best thing I ever done for me. I have been on HRT for years without any probelems. Will pray for you and your cousin.

Hope all are well.

Take care. shirley

I feel like this sometimes!!!

Good morning

Thought I'd get in a quick post as I have a busy day ahead again. Have to leave for work in a few minutes and will be going out to badminton right after dinner. Same as yesterday. Tomorrow I will be off work but have to go out early in the morning to take my van in for servicing. Have to get it in good condition for vacation.

Slaphappy - Don't get discourged. None of us here are perfect. We all struggle at times to stay op. I don't think any of us stay op 100% of the time (except our fearless leader, Debbie). But if you have a bad day or weekend just put it behind you and start over. A new day, a new beginning.

Fruit - Glad to hear you are back on the wagon again. Sorry to hear about dh's cousin. Hope the treatment he is having will improve his situation. BTW what they put in is a "stent".

Mel - Congrats on the 3 pounds down.

Gracious - I love your attitude - 'five pounds gone forever'. That sounds so positive.

Have a good day everyone.

Good Morning!

Just wanted to post a quick note to say hello before I rush off to school!

ROSALIE: Thanks for the correction on the "stent" term! I suck at medical terminology! HAHA!

SEF: I think I'm gonna have to try those WW muffins. Are they like a breakfast muffin or something that you would eat with dinner? I need some new breakfast items!

Ok girls - have a good day! See ya tonight!

TODAY IS 3 DAYS TILL REGISTRATION!!! FRIDAY IS THE DAY!!

11 DAYS TILL THE SUNSHINE STATE GANG GREETS THE VERY SPECIAL MARIE!

For those of you who think I'm totally nuts - I AM! BUT, my countdowns are 2-fold: This past January we Florida gals had the honor of meeting FROG and her DH for a yummilicious brunch and day of fun and fellowship followed the next day by cheering them on as they took on the daunting task of RUNNING in the WDW MARATHON - 26.2 MILES!! Not only was it great to get to meet so many of the wonderful gals on this board, but also INCREDIBLY INSPIRING to see the culmination of the hard training and enthusiasm that FROG displayed all year. It was THRILLING beyond what words can express to be around her and Bill. THEN, seeing her before picture on the photo board - I'm awestruck! ANYWAY, I decided that I wanted to take on a goal that would really challenge me and give me something to work toward and, well, frankly, "I WANNA BE LIKE FROG!"

Our fearless leader, DEBBIE, put the challenge out there for everyone and I've been (ever so gently :smug: ) reminding us all that the day we can register for the WDW Marathon and Half Marathon is on Friday, March 1, 2002. This is registration for the marathon January 12, 2003. Meister and I are going to register for the Half Marathon and DEBBIE and FROG and BP and BKM are going to register for the Half Marathon also. I think ZSUZSU will be a cheerleader with her newest little cheerleader in a papoose with her. ;) ELI, BOB and GATORGAL will be among the ranks of INSPIRATION, I do believe. QUILTER is moving closer and closer to saying she will be here. It would be great if all of us could plan to get together in O-Town in January as part of the Marathoners, Half-Marathoners and, oh-so-important CHEERING SQUAD! It would be great to have so many people here that we have to rent a place to have our brunch! :D I would love to have to handle something like that.

SOOOOO, WHO ELSE IS GOING TO REGISTER WITH US?? WHO WANTS TO BE A CHEERLEADER??

I'll keep posting this, but for those who want to scope it out beforehand….here's the link to the marathon registration page..

http://dwws.disney.go.com/wideworldofsports/sportingevents/sportingevent/sportingeventindex?id=SPORHalfMarathon03SporEvn

MONET - I am on Glucophage XR500, but apparently my dose is very low compared to most other people who are on it as I only take one dose a day. I haven't had any problems with it at all, but I take it with my oatmeal and they say that taking it with carbs is the best. I did a search on www.google.com for glucophage and learned a bit. There's also a PCOS forum on here and there are some discussions on it there.

FROG - WAY TO GO ON THE CONGRATS FROM BP!! Those are the BEST compliments, I think. Yeppers - on-line registering me and Meister. Did you tell that child that it's beAch and that, no, you LIKE the beach, but that's not your name?

SHIRLEY - How the heck do you come out with MORE than they say the recipe makes?!? You must be much better than I am. By the time I get through making a recipe, 'tasting' things and divvying out larger than life portions I'm lucky to get HALF of the portions they say. Ocala is right up the road a piece from O-town! Maybe you could spark yet another FL gals get together??

TV - Glad to see you back! Of course we miss you! Will be sending good thoughts your way!

DEBBIE - ROCK AND ROLL!! Are you sure you shouldn't sign up for the WHOLE Marathon???? You'll definitely be kicking boo-tee all the way to the finish line!!

 Have a great day everyone!

Hmm...let me see..where to start.

meliris- Woodbine was and still is a racetrack. As far as I know, it is still standing. The Woodbine Centre is just across the road from it, hence the name, Woodbine Mall. It has a kids amusement park inside of it and when it was first new we were all very impressed!

solshine- I will take a look at the book again. I have yet to return mine to the library! I guess I just have to put some effort into finding some recipes...the recipe board is a good place to start! ;)

fruitloupe-Thanks for the offer of sending the dressings. I will see what I can do on this end before I bother you so much. I do appreciate your willingness to help though.

Rosalie- Thank you. I do believe they are 5 pounds gone forever. I think we have to have a very positive attitude and keep our eyes focused on our goal..or mini goals. I haven't been this weight for a lot of years now. Definitely not since I had my first of three babies. My body is in shock!:dizzy: But I am loving it!

I am still holding strong at 165 even after my fat intake yesterday because of my silly homemade dressing. I will try something new today for sure.

Thanks everyone for the info on Glucophage. It seems to be used a lot for PCOS. As far as I know, I do not have that. I do have thyroid problems, and obviously insulin resistance. I have not been able to lose any weight for probably 20 years. My doctor even had me on Phentermine daily, and I stalled out after 14 pounds on that, then gained it back when he changed my thyroid medication. Right now, I am back to the same point, and been here for over a week. I have a sinking feeling that I am not getting below it. Remaining upbeat after all these years of being told to exercise more and eat less has not been easy.

Sol, I take two of the 500 a day. The doctor told me to take it at dinner, but I am wondering if it would be better at say lunch... It must be doing something...I am hungry all the time on it, but I am not eating more. Still, I am kind of stalled. The doctor told me it would help me lose weight..so far, it has not.

Hmm. .. Orlando in January. I live near Atlanta, and I have a sister in law in Orlando. I am not ready for any marathon, but I am a great encourager...perhaps I will come and be a cheerleader! ? ;)

Good morning everyone! It is a gloomy day here and it is going to drop about 15 degrees:mad: That is Ohio for you, 60's yesterday, 20's today.

Ok, I have some questions....
What are the main things you look for on a lable???? Big one!

Are you not at all concerned with carb counts? Say a sauce that is "legal" as far as what is in it, do you look at the carb s or not?

Is skim milk ok and in what amount? On Atkins I had to use cream and I like skim milk more.

Am I correct...eat fruit alone or 1/2 hour before meal? Any amount, or is there a "serving"?

Sugar is "ok" as long as it is not in the top ingr. or no more than 3 grams per serving? I am not talking natural sugar.

Try to go with low fat...but how low? When you look at lables, what do you look for as far as fat?

Nothing that says "enriched", as in flour??

Try not to eat too many starchy foods to loose weight....for maintainance, see how much you can have before you start to gain?

Eat "portions", no seconds?

Do you always use "lite"? From my experiece, they tend to have more sugar.

I know that is a lot of questions. If you don't know or don't answer them all, it is ok...maybe someone else can answer the ones not answered!

Boy this board is getting so busy I can't keep up. Posting once a day just isn't going to cut it. I went into fitday.com yesterday and started putting in what I had eaten for the day. Not sure if I like the results. Of course what I saw could be why I am not loosing. I need to cut back. Need to eat more veggies and less triscuts. It did make me more aware and I thought twice before I put something in my mouth.:T

I am not sure if I can get on line tonight and join the chat. May have to travel to Lancaster to visit my grandfather. His kidneys are failing and he doesn't want to have dyalisis. He is 86 and has had so many health problems in the past 6 years he is just getting tired.

Have a wonderful day everyone!!!!

Hey Mel!

I hope that means you're gonna join us!!!

Monet - Atlanta is TOO close to not come! Start dusting off those pom-poms!!

Okay - I called WDW and the registration for the Marathon was $75 last year. Half Marathon was $35.00.

They don't have the prices yet for this year, but I'm sure it will be close to that.

Back to wurk.....

...the board if I post too much! ;)

I am doing some cleaning today as I prepare for my parents arrival on Friday. Each time I finish a *big job* I treat myself with a water break on the computer. I have done my drawers and then my son's room. Daughter's room is next and that will be a longer wait between breaks!

Kimmythekid-I have some of those answers for you.

{Are you not at all concerned with carb counts? Say a sauce that is "legal" as far as what is in it, do you look at the carb s or not? }

The answer to that one will be similar to the answer regarding the amount of fat. If you have figured out your daily caloric allowance and the ratio of carbs/prot/fat then that will be a big help. I know that it is to me and from what I have read of Debelli's post, she tracks her numbers as well. I know the book says you don't *have* to, but I am a detail person and want to do this right the first time. That way there is no surprises at the end of the day, or the next day when you hop on the scale!

I think we should be carb conscious, protein conscious and fat conscious. Keep your meals within the 40%/30%/30% range and you should be fine.

Let's face it...if something is legal, it is legal for a serving of it. Triscuits are legal, not a whole box.

{Is skim milk ok and in what amount? On Atkins I had to use cream and I like skim milk more. }

I miss the fact that I can't use cream in my coffee now but I know it is simply not worth the fat count. That takes too much away from the meats and other things I can eat during the day. I have switched to 2% milk...I have the 3 small kids and I am not willing to be bothered buying 2 different kinds! :) The SB book says use skim, 1% or 2%...so you are good to go on that one.

{Am I correct...eat fruit alone or 1/2 hour before meal? Any amount, or is there a "serving"?}

It is recommended that you eat the fruit 1/2 hour before meals or 2 hours afterwards. That is to prevent indigestion. If you have no problems with indigestion you may eat your fruit with other foods...but that is their recommendation. I follow that advice even though I do not have indigestion...I like rules! :)

{Sugar is "ok" as long as it is not in the top ingr. or no more than 3 grams per serving? I am not talking natural sugar. }

Sugar is okay as long as there is 3 grams or less per serving. The book states this is a LOW sugar, not NO sugar WOE.

{Try to go with low fat...but how low? When you look at lables, what do you look for as far as fat? }

I mentioned this in the first one but will add that moderate fat or low fat is certainly better than high. I think the high fat is what stalled me on Atkins.

{Nothing that says "enriched", as in flour?? }

Enriched means it has been highly processed, the goodness sucked out and then they had to add it back in. Lower nutritional value and higher on the glycemic index.

{Try not to eat too many starchy foods to loose weight....for maintainance, see how much you can have before you start to gain? }

They recommend 2-3 servings of starchy foods and I have also read that if you are trying to lose that it is better to stick to 2 a day. When maintaining or getting closer you can add the third.

{Eat "portions", no seconds? }

The book states that we should use appropriate servings and not have seconds. Use the indented part of the dinner plate to help you gauge. Your whole meal should fit in that part of it. Veggies should be the size of your closed fist and meat the size of your palm when your hand is open.

{Do you always use "lite"? From my experiece, they tend to have more sugar. }

I have been reading labels very carefully because of that reason. Sometimes it is better to buy regular. Individual cases reign in this instance.

I hope I answered your questions adequately and also trust the others will add to or correct me if I was wrong on anything.

Thank you Gracious for your answers. One more question...how do I find out what my cal. intake should be? Is there a good site that tells intake, fat, ect...for your weight or want to be weight?

I hope your visit goes well!

Hiedie Ho All!!!

It always makes me laugh, the weather is dropping to freezing so the news is full of tips.....wrap your pipes, cover your plants, let your faucet drip, bring in the pets, etc. I still have a northern mentality...32' what's the fuss about? In PA that's barefoot weather!!!!! Yesterday I was wearing shorts, I will admit to putting on slacks this morning. So I must be gradually becoming southern!!!!!

Yesterday at the NH I took in the Southern girls list. My group is definitely GRITS! They loved it! It created a lot of discussion, especially the dress code, breakfasts and Rhett. I forget who posted it now but thanx for giving me a topic for reminiscing!!

FRUIT - I don't know how I managed the extra muffins. Maybe because I used my cupcake pan rather than muffin cups. They were small enough that I considered two a serving, but large enough to be satisfying. I made them with dinner in mind but they have a sweetish taste so I didn't feel they were for a meal. I used them for breakfast with butter, jelly or PB, sliced in half they were quite filling and they are very light, not a heavy muffin. I used the dark agave, saving my light for the cheesecake!!! I want to try Bob's (Ithink it was her) Flourless Chocolate Cake! I am also wondering if you could dice an apple into the muffins, or some berries? Another experiment!

SOL: See above about size of muffins. It will probably be a while before we visit Ocala, they just bought the house. They do hope to move in by May or so, but I won't be there. I am saving all my pennies for a trip back to PA this fall. Keep your fingers crossed for me that they mount up enough!!!!

MONET - I don't think I said welcome. We are glad you decided to join us. You will like it here, I guarantee!!!!

DEB - I love your new avatar!!!

KTK - The ingredients and amounts can be confusing at first but you learn as you go along. Lots of things have no sugar in the list of ingredients but in nutrition list will have 6 grams maybe. These are natural sugars not added augars. Tomatoes are a good example. I never use anything with cornstarch no matter how low it is in ingredient list or corn syrup or enriched anything. I'm not an expert, there are others here who really know what they are talking about and I have learned a great deal from them. I'm not swift enough to learn it all at once!!!!

Speaking of not being swift.........remember I said I made the Creamy Chicken last night? I really felt it needed a little something extra and did add some salt and Pepper (love pepper) to the sauce. But still needed something. This morning I woke up at 6a to make my potty run and it hit me. I forgot to put in the mushrooms!!!!! Nice time to think of it!!!! Brains and trains....it's bad when you miss both!!!!

I am going to play with the scanner today, I got to be able to post a picture. If I don't reappear, you'll know I blew the whole system up!!!!!

Take care. sef

Hello everyone!

It is a pratty day here--but getting cold. It was in the 70s yesterday and supposed to be in the 20s tonight. I am so ready for spring!

Good day today--oatmeal breakfast with a little agave and cinnamon--yum. Italian cold cut salad for lunch (Subway will make any sandwich into a salad)--tonight I'm going out to dinner--outback. I'm thinking the salmon--though their steaks are pretty tasty too! I did have a SF TCBY this afternoon. They also claim to have a SF hot fudge sauce--anyone know anything about this? I just may have to go to their web site to see if I can find the nutritional information.

Sef: I'm glad I'm not the only one who will "forget" ingredients. The last time I did it was with my muffins. The recipe called for 2tbl sweetner for one serving. I quadrupled the recipe and only used 2 tbls agave. They tasted fine, so I'm using the lower amount of sweetner. I figure the less the better!

Kimmiethekid: I don't count calories or grams of anything. I try not to have more than 2-3 "starchy carbs" per day. I find that when I count--it makes me obsessed with food and then I think about it all the time and then I always want to eat. When reading labels I try to avoid added sugar if possible. For example, when shopping for salsa I'll choose one with no added sugar. The same with beans and veggies. I also try to avoid conrstarch, corn syrup, enriched flour, etc. If everything in that category has some sort of added sugar/starch then I look for two things: are the sugar grams 3 or less? Is the bad stuff way down on the ingredients list? The answer to both must be yes. It is tough at first, but once you learn the brands that are ok then it is less time consuming.

Sol: Thanks for keeping us updated on the WDW marathon registration!

Monet: How close to Atlanta are you? I'm about 90 minutes south. NASCAR is also close to Atlanta. Welcome!

Frog: I didn't know DH was a rib man!:o That's some progress you are making!

BOB--Uh-oh yumyum.com looks like i could lose some serious time there. I did print the recipe for those WW apple muffins.

DEB--Are you going to run in the marathon next year? The way you are going you'll be hitting 26 miles before you know it!

Got to go--work calls. Hope everyone has a good evening!

BOB-thank you, THANK YOU! for posting yumyum! :T :T I've printed out a few recipes and made the Curried Hash for dinner. It was good. Just subbed SGWW flour and added peas. I'll be lost in that site for hours now!

Good evening everyone!

This board is sooo busy. I missed a couple of days and thought I'd best let you all know I'm still alive and there were 5 pages of posts.

I've been doing ok. Still trying to stay OP and the scales still keep going up and down. I go up as much as 5 pounds now and then back down to my low of 275. I will keep on trying. I know that it will starting going down again sooner or later (sooner I hope).

Welcome to all the newbies. You have come to a wonderful place with so much support and encouragement.

tv: you are in my prayers. I had a hysterectomy 2 years ago. I felt 100% better just a couple of days after surgery. I immediately started getting back my energy.

I am sorry to hear that so many of you and your families are not feeling well. I hope and will be praying that you all will feel better soon.

My son has been having a lot of problems. He was diagnosed with irritable bowel syndrom a couple of years ago, but now he has a lot of blood in his stools, is dizzy, nausea, etc. They are doing tests this Thursday. He has lost 15 pounds in 2 weeks. So I have been mostly helping with the kids and being there for him while he waits to see what's up.

Don't know if I'll be at chat tonight.

Take care

I was just browsing through some of the other threads, and I found where DEB mentioned www.prettyimpressivestuff.com/sugarbusters and I went there... all I can say is WOW. That site explained things to me that I've never been able to quite grasp before about this WOE. It's a really down to earth site, and I recommend ANYONE who is as new and confused as me to go there!!
Be sure you check out the menu on the left side of the page, there are lists and color pictures of SB legal foods!!

I'm doing pretty well... my eating is better today believe it or not. Right now I'm at :
Total: 1431
Carbs: 150g 38%
Fiber: 10g
Fat: 50g 31%
Protein: 112g 31%
And according to the numbers that DEB gave me, I should be eating 1800 calories, 180 carb, 135 protein, 60 fat... so this is the closest I've been as yet. I've had dinner, but will have a snack later, so I'm feeling pretty good about today!

Hope everyone is doing well... I'm still trying to adjust to the 6 people in my house thing..LOL.. I'm usually so busy cleaning I can't get to the computer. I have a Mary Kay seminar tonight, so I probably won't make chat... a friend of mine is a rep, and invited me to a 'makeover party' demonstration thingy just to get me out of the house alone, to let me play in makeup and forget my stresses!!

See y'all later!!

Hey All:wave:

Even though it was short, Eli and I got a few things accomplished today on his day off-won't even bother telling you 2 of the places we went, I know you know my pattern by now!;)

VES, you mentioned to HAPPY You can keep telling yourself - I deserve to have the body I desire. Geez, I wish it were that easy! Even though I now have the desired weight, I don't have the body I want. Any idea where I can order one up?? LOL!! Can't wait to hear about your Friday adventure with SOL and what you two divas come up with. As for the agave, I haven't a clue who would ship to SLOVENIA, much less anywhere else out of the country. I think your best bet is to order it and ship it yourself-but it's going to be BIG BUCKS. Didn't you say your Mom would be coming for a visit-better to hold it til she gets here unless she's really desperate for it. CONGRATS to you AND Ricky for doing the 3.5 miles!!!

MONET,WELCOME TO THE BOARD Glad you decided that being a part of the board is much more appealing than being a voyeur;) I'm amazed, you followed Atkins for 4 years? You said you didn't lose-you must of lost something, didn't you? Well, it seems you definitely took your DH's advice to change and do something different because it looks like SB is really working for you and you are working for it (the weight loss). CONGRATS for doing so well thus far! And I see you're another GA GAL-there's a few of you on the board-maybe someone lives in close proximity to you. Hey, ATLANTA is not that far away, so do come join us in Orlando in January, but even better and before that-come join us in OCT in NC!!! So, how far are you from HARRY'S????? Love that store too! I'd love to live in the ROSWELL/MARRIETTA area one day-such beautiful homes up there! Congrats to you and your DD upcoming nuptuals-I'm sure you'll look smashing as you float on air down the aisle in June!!! Don't be afraid to ask us any questions-we are all more than happy to help. Once again, WELCOME!!:D

ZANNE, CONGRATS on the pants-must of made you feel terrific, and good going on the exercise, I know how that makes you feel! The mix, most likely the HFS. BTW, I will know by Friday if the agave was in stock and made it to the store. If you think of anything else you need, let me know and I can send it up with ROSALIE if she doesn't mind.

MUSIC, glad to hear you and the rest of the house are feeling better. We have a high here today of 81 and tomorrow it's going to get cool once again, I think tomorrow night a low in the 40's is expected.

BIGK, sorry to hear you had a temporary lapse of sanity and fell off the wagon for a brief nano-second and felt so bad afterwards:s: I always welcome those who have a lapse and end up getting sick telling me the tales of woe because it helps me stay in line-I don't need to feel like that. The agave is a great price-I wish the store I buy from would have it at that price-I'd probably hoard some more!

GRACIOUS, okay, excuse me for being dense and not well knowledged in my Canadian geography, but whereabouts is NB? I know where Toronto and Montreal are since we have family in both areas, I know Edmonton/Alberta because I want to go to the mall there one day, but NB, haven't a clue where that is (guess I could look at a map, but too lazy). I thank you for guiding MONET to our board-she seems like a charm! Hey, I think you CANUKS have some great stuff up there we don't have here-I'm sure ROSALIE can throw some ideas your way as well of things good for SB up your way. I can't comment on the soups-I haven't eaten a canned soup since starting SB, well, other than broth. Like you, I've gone more the natural route and will make soup instead of buying it (okay, Eli makes the soup, I eat it!) The soup you have sounds okay, but personally, I wouldn't eat anything with lard in it-ick! Salad dressings, the low fat/ff versions most of the time are going to have sugars in them to make up for fat. I go for the regular ones and just use less. Eli makes a great dressing for our FATTOUSH salad that's easy and simple-garlic, salt, lemon juice and olive oil. Can you give me an idea what type of dressing you like, I'll look through my books when I get a chance, I'm sure I must have something you'd find appealing. You actually MADE WW bagels? How did yours come out? I have a recipe posted somewhere on the recipe board but have never attempted to make any bagels-knowing my cooking skills they'd probably come out like hockey pucks. I'm very impressed how well versed you are in SB-you make me proud:D

FRUIT, why not plan on coming to the NC trip. I'm sure you could find someone to carpool with, and you sure have enough notice to plan. Glad to hear DC is doing better. Did you see the article in Women's Day on PCOS??

SEF, okay, you mentioned the standstill moved, but how did it move-how much??? Don't keep me in suspense! Don't feel bad if the family doesn't like what you like-that's how it is here-they think my taste buds up and died since I started SB. I'll think something is REALLY too sweet and they tell me there's no sweetness at all. A mug shot?? When?? Where?? I hope you figure out that scanner!!!

ROSALIE, remember, I did have a cheat on NY Day!!!! Oh, I may be good when it comes to not cheating on SB, but trust me, I have many other flaws that make up for it in other areas;) Umm, I'm thinking that BOB & I will probably pick you up around 9:00am or so, maybe a tad earlier. Will take a bit to get to SOLS house and I want to have at least an hour to prepare whatever I need to finish up at her home before everyone comes-is that okay??

SOL, have you decided what time you are going to put down that you could finish the WDWM in? I think all of us who are going to do the 1/2 should put down the same times so we can all start together in the same area-since we are competing with the clock, it doesn't matter where we actually start as far as the crowd goes. Oh no, this gal is NOT going to do the whole marathon, or at least I say that now. Remember, WD made some man made hills and this girl walks and jogs on flat lands-these legs were not made for going up a hill. We have an overpass that I jog pass each day and I could never imagine trying to jog up that thing-no, I will be walking up hills, jogging down.

SEMMENS, yeah, yeah, just keep rubbing it in, I'm envious that you have TJ'S and I don't-can I move in with you??? We make a lot of couscous in our home. What are you planning on doing with yours? Eli makes a great dish with lentils and onions and we serve it with yogurt-delicious. Of course, taboulli is another great dish to use it in.

MEL, thanks for the offer on the chocolate. Looked at WHOLE FOODS today and they have the EL REY for $7.99 a pound and now are carrying the SCHARFFEN BERGER in bulk at $9.99 a pound. My cousin brought me 2 9.7oz. bars from San Diego and they only cost $5.50 a bar from there, cheaper than those little 2oz bars they have the nerve to sell for something like $2.59. Actually, your price is a bit better, but I do have some already that I haven't used-thanks for offering to help me enlarge my stash though! Hmmm, you really wouldn't mind bringing some cheese and a couple other cold items? Actually, best that I forego this idea-I think it's too much trouble. When I went to see NANCE I had packed some of those BLUE ICE things and bought one of the insulated bags at TJ's-they worked like a charm and everything made it home in perfect condition. BUT, that's
something I think I will have to take on myself, Ithink ti's too much trouble to ask of you-but once again, THANKS FOR OFFERING! I think I'll just keep my list short and simple, nothing that needs refrigerating.

JRED, you know what you were able to do in the past to get the results you wanted and you are now moving in the right direction to get there once again-as many of us have done in the past and are doing once again. What we need to find out is WHY we were unable to stay at our goal when we made it and make sure whatever reason(s) there were for this we make sure we know how to deal with any situations that arise so this won't happen again. I know for myself, this is it for me, I will NEVER gain back the weight again. I said it the last time I met my goal weight, but I have never felt the way I do know when I say this!!! 10 boxes of GS COOKIES? My goodness, they must of knew you had a soft spot for GS's! Glad to hear you haven't touched one-I don't know if I would be that good, a reason I didn't buy any-the kids love the THIN MINTS, but so do I and if I saw one open I may not be able to contain myself.

FROG, you are so cute-I love your excitement on the scale, about your ribs, etc. etc. I am so happy that you are happy after all the turmoil you went through all those months. Sorry to hear about FIL, he was in my area, huh? Hmmm, I could of met him and given him the CD with the pics. Well, I'm going to attempt to get out the laptop and see if I can get those pics to you that way. It won't be today because Michael's been on the computer since I got home (doing this off line), Anyhow, hope FIL feels better soon. I hear that happens with a lot of people when they shovel snow. That little bugger said that to you??? Was the Mother around? I'd kill my kids if they used any vulgar language-believe it or not, my kids don't cuss. They don't hear Eli or I and they know I won't stand for it. I've always told Michael he could come up with much better and more effective words than trash mouth ones. I'm excited that SUZANNE is coming-she told me to let her know where to send the money! Me, the guest of honor, no way-why me? Okay, QUEEN OF SOLE last 2 days, bloody toe-can't see why it's bleeding at the top, doesn't hurt, don't see a cut, but bloody sock when I take them off-I remember this happened long time ago and same thing, mystery why and where it was coming from-any ideas?

HAPPY, glad to hear you had a better SF day. The support from this board is phenomenal and can't be beat! Just wait til you get to meet everyone, it's a wonderful feeling and you will feel not only support, but a great bond with the other gals.

KIMMY, I am a BIG label reader. No one likes to go shopping with me cause I take so long. I think first I look at the grams of sugar and then the fat and then the ingredients. If it has any forms of sugar in it I usually will put it back, even if it falls under the 3 gram rule. That's just me, I'm more strict that need be. I do count carbs, but with something like sauce that's legal, I would eat it and count the carbs as well, whatever they may be. Skim is fine-all milk is fine, but once again, if you are watching your intake, skim is better than whole as far as calories and fat. Fruit is 1/2 hour before or 2 hours after a meal, or alone as you said. There are suggested serving sizes for fruits you can follow, but for me, I just eat what I want really, but I do weigh it out and figure out the nutrional values, so if I eat a fruit with 30 carbs, that's part of my carbs for the day-and that piece of fruit may be what would be considered 3 servings-again, this is just what I do. Sugar, as long as it's 3 grams of sugar or less per serving and you are having 1 serving, SB says it's okay. I just watch my total fat intake and keep tabs best I can to keep it to about 30%, what SB suggests. Correct, nothing that says enriched. Again, I eat about 2-3 starchy carbs, sometimes more, rarely less. Been like this since I started SB. Lite usually does have more sugars-they have to make up the taste from less fat. I usually only use light mayo and sour cream. I eat small meals throughout the day, so I don't use the portion idea. E-mail me with your current and goal weight, height as well as if you think you are sm/med/large boned and I can help you do the numbers for the caloric intake-at least my opinion of it.

RED1, it's good that you are using fitday.com and seeing where problems may lie. That's why I think journaling is so important, without doing so, who know's, right? Sorry to hear about GF, hope things look up for him.

FILLISE, enjoy OUTBACK tonight-I love the salmon there! And the sweet potato! Glad to hear you're having a good day. Don't know anything about TCBY-ask me about Carbolite and that I know about, but not TCBY. I probably will do the 1/2 marathon-that all depends if SOL comes to NC or not!!!

SHEANN, just a bit over 2 weeks ago I was up at 127, now today 121.5. I know when it rises like that it's just temporary and my staying OP and patience will pay off-and it did. My gosh, your DS sounds like he's having a terrible time. I hope everything goes well with the tests and whatever is causing him troubles can be easily and quickly fixed. Please keep us informed!

BETH, glad you liked RISSA'S site. I always refer newbies and those who want to know more about SB to her site-it's wonderful and she's really done a good job at explaining the basics of SB. You're doing great with your numbers-how are you feeling now that you are eating in this range? Do try to up your fiber a bit-25grams is recommended-raspberries are great for this, Fiber One as well-beans make you toot, but they're good too.

Well, at least I got updated with all the posts-now I have to find some time to tackle a trillion e-mails:rolleyes: I told the kids I need the computer for chat tonight-here's hoping it will be free!!

See you all later in the chat room! Good luck tomorrow for WIW!!!!

Weather is really windy tonight, knocking down/out something with the cable in our areas. TV reception is awful and since I have a cable modem the Inet is not working properly. Therefore I may not be able to chat :^: And that will not make the FROG a happy camper.

Got to bed before 9:30 last night and it was heavenly! I was so well rested this morning. Need to do that more often. Got up for aerobic day at the gym. Did the treadmill so that I can get faster for the 1/2 marathon 'cause DEB is gonna go zooming by all of us. DEB - Do you wear a crash helmet when you run, 'cause you sure are goin' fast!

Update on FIL: They got into O-town today - look out SOL! He decided that he's feeling better and that they are gonna go to Universal tomorrow! Heavens! It's a good thing that I'm not with them, I'd be a nut case with all the changes in plans.

Update on KITTY: Mary-Ca has a new bed. She has been sleeping on the floor at the foot of our bed on a blanket for a while. This weekend I bought her a basket and put an old bed pillow and that blanket on it. She  that bed and spent most of the weekend in it. DH reported that he has come to accept her as one of the family and is glad that it has all worked out. I got some  assistance there! If y'all only knew how he is with his Dixie, you'd understand what a change this is in him!

Update on DIXIE: Trip to vet still scheduled for Friday. Vet phoned last evening to say that they will do everything to make us all feel more comfortable about this visit. I may talk to him about some skin tags that she has. Her age is really beginning to show and she's only 8. :(

Update on DH: He has been working out on my schedule somewhat and is starting to see results in himself. Have to give him the ol' bicep test in the car on the way home on the days he lifts. He is so :smug: proud and I'm proud of him.

SOL - I am TRULY humbled by your comments. Do you have any idea how much that motivates ME? Regarding that little boy at work, I told him I'd like to GO to the BEACH! But if he thought I was a b*itch, he really hadn't seen anything yet! Speaking of beach, I have you down for a room in October because you WILL be there!
