Default Is there an ignore function on the board?

Hey - is there an ignore feature on the board? I looked, but couldn't find one in the settings.

Click on the profile of who you want to ignore. The second purple bar, in the middle, you will see something like "add user to ignore list" and follow the steps from there!

What happens if you use the ignore function?

When someone posts in a thread, you are told that you have chosen to ignore the person. To see their post, you have to take them off your ignore list.
(I hope you can see my post. )

I find it very useful.

The only thing is that you may run into the ignored member's words if someone else has quoted them. In this case, I pull my hat down and hurry on.

What would be a reason to ignore another member? And do they know if they have been ignored by someone else?

It's very sad but not everyone gets along well on this site. The MODs frequently get reports that "so and so is being nasty", sometimes justified and sometimes not. This solves the problem nicely for everyone.

They do not know that they are being ignored.

I wish I had known about this when I was on dial-up. It wouldn't have been anything personal, just getting a page to load inspite of elaborate, animated signatures. I don't mind them now, but at the time it was painfully slow.

For those with slow connections, the options to view without signatures, pictures, and/or Avatars can be selected under the
User CP --> Edit Options
then select from:
Visible Post Elements
You have the option to show or hide various elements of messages, which may be of use to users on slow internet connections, or who want to remove extraneous clutter from posts.
Show Signatures
Show Avatars
Show Images (including attached images and images in [IMG] code)

I think probably there isn't, at least I couldn't find one, but is there any way to hide certain forums, so you get a more manageable list of new posts?

Yes. On the Main Menu, click on "collapse" which is on the far right. That'll do it.

Ah, I didn't see that, but it collapses a whole bunch of forums at once. But thanks anyway.

I subscribed to the forums I liked, then I bookmarked my User Control Panel as my 3FC page:
http://www.3fatchicks.com/forum/usercp.php

Going back to the Control Panel only shows those groups rather than the whole collection
