Good going Nirvanagurly!

Did some more walking this weekend - about a 30 mins Saturday and 45 on Sunday.

I will be starting up my dance class again on Jan 13 and on Monday, Jan 3 I will do one of my exercise tapes. I have to get back to my regular routine again.

Well I am now into my fifth week of exercising and wow I am shocked at the improvements. I have rediscovered my love and skill for swimming and I really look forward to swimming laps. I am up to an hour of laps in the 25 yard pool. Today I challenged myself to swim front crawl for 1/2 mile non-stop (roughly 17 laps... there and back). I couldn't believe it but I did it in just under 20 minutes!! That is the distance I will have to swim in the Danskin Women's Triathlon that I want to do this July (swim 750 m, bike 20k, run 5k). Total I did 41 laps in 60 minutes today. And the best part was that the lifeguard told me that I was a "nearly perfect swimmer". Of course I did take swimming lessons for years and was a life guard and also a water safety and swim instructor (WSI) but that was over a decade ago not to mention 40 pounds lighter.

So proud of myself today and encouraged!

If anyone is interested in learning about the Danskin Triathlon go to www.danskin.com. The event is held in locations across the country and is for women of all shapes, sizes, and skill levels. It is especially designed for women who want to try their first triathlon in a safe environment. This has been a dream of mine for years and years.

Yesterday I got to the gym and did 45 on the elliptical and 5 on the rowing machine... wowie, that rower is a beast! I used to row an HOUR and now 5 minutes is killer. But I'm just going to keep ramping it up by a minute a time, and get ye ol' bod back in tone.

I like having muscles! Speaking of which, I have my Nautilus and free weights orientation at the gym Wednesday night. Free weights kinda scare me but at the same time, I think they are very cool...

Back into the rigors of sportiness! Yeeha!!

I'm in, too...

Dec 30 - I really did go to the gym, hoo haw! While there, I did 30 min elliptical, plus my weight routine. Triceps are still a little ouchy, must have overdone!

Goal: 6 days of exercise out of Jan 3-9

Jan 1 - WATP 2 miles (Saturday)
Jan 2 - WATP 2 miles (Sunday - happy about it, though it doesn't count for my current goal! )
Jan 3 - WATP 2 Miles
Jan 4 - Weight training at the Gym and 15 minutes on the elliptical
Jan 5 - D'oh!
Jan 6 - D'oh!
Jan 7 - didn't work out this morning, but there's still time...
Jan 8 - Walked a half mile, uphill, then went back down on my SLED!
Jan 9 - er, what?

And then a new week!

Sojourner, BTW - you go, grrl! A triathalon is a really excellent goal!

BerkshireGrl - Nice to see I'm not the only Western MA gal here!

Yesterday (the 3rd) I did the following:

1 mile walk
25 minutes of strength training

belly dance troupe rehearsal-an hour long but with other stuff we were discussing about 30 minutes of that was dancing.

Today I did 30 minutes of interval training-walking for 3 minutes, jogging for 2...repeat.
I also have a dance lesson today that is an hour long-so about 45 minutes of it will be actual dancing when you cut the talking part of it out.
So....chalk me up for 1 hour and 15 minutes today.

Red face

Hey there Ellis & Solarmama!

Ellis, it's good to be back! and Solar, boonie greetings to you!

I'm good, thanks! I was trying to get to a Yoga class tonight but I had to spend some time at the parents (my dad had a needle biopsy for a large growth under his shoulder blade... results due Friday... pins and needles... ugh. any good dad vibes welcomed!)

So, Yoga later I hope, like on Thursday. I think I will need it. Also supposed to have weight training tomorrow night at 5 pm, but might need to reschedule since I found out late today that I am going to be formatting new templates for design all day Wednesday with the head of the dept.

Dang life keeps messing with my gym time! I'm gonna get there though I SWEAR!
