On the other hand, when my DH left his awful job they didn't really care!!! We thought that it couldn't get any worse there, but from what we have been hearing lately IT HAS!!!! As my therapist used to say, "Some environments are toxic. When they are you have to leave." Even if that is not possible RIGHT NOW, keep on trying for other positions. IT WILL HAPPEN.

I've been on meds for quite some time now, and they have helped me a LOT. It doesn't sound like you will need them long term the way I have, but I bet they will help. For me it enabled me to work on the problems. For you, I bet it will help you see other possibilities as well as helping you get through. NOTHING is worse than feeling stuck and like there is no way out. I bet it helped just having someone to talk to, too!!!

WE ALL DESERVE THE BEST!!!!!!!!!!!

Mauvais, sorry to hear things are rough for you. Good for you for acting quickly and getting some assistance. Hope things will look up soon.

I need to ask for some good thoughts to come out west.

MIL fell on the weekend and has a massive closed head injury. There is nothing to be done except to keep her comfortable and wait for the end. DH is an only child and we are feeling overwhelmed at spreading ourselves thin between the bedside vigil and trying to plan a funeral without getting massively ripped off, and contacting everyone who needs to be called.

Went to work this morning but I am feeling a bit better than yesterday-guess I will just take it one day at a time for now the doctor said it takes about 2 weeks for the medication to kick into full gear.

MerryLegs, I'm so sorry to hear about your MIL. What a shock it must be for you all. Sending you strength and good thoughts.

Mauvais, glad you're hanging in there. Maybe taking the day off and telling your doc and others how you were feeling was the break was you needed. Sometimes just being acknowledged helps, and now you know you have that support.

We had to take my mum to the hospital last night. She started to feel week in one arm, then experienced a tingling sensation up to her elbow and couldn't pick anything up with that hand. She called the public nurse hotline and they told her to get to a hospital within the next four hours. She called DH and I for a lift to the hospital and I sat with her and my Dad until 1:30 a.m.

Apparently she took a "mini-stroke", they checked her out and said she was okay but they wanted to give her a catscan on the spot or she would have to wait about 6 weeks to have one so we stayed an extra 2 hours but we got the results back last night-everything is clear.

She is home today but is going see her own doctor this morning as the hospital advised her to do so to see what they can do to prevent this happening again. The same thing happened about 3 years ago.

She is feeling a little weak, arm feels a little better but her speech is a little slurry.

I am exhausted and worried but I am sure she will be okay.

Aww Mauv! Hugs! What terrible stress. I'm glad it wasn't something more serious. Thank goodness she has you.

Thanks chicks

Looks like she is going to be okay and the symptoms will pass in week or two. Mum spent the morning at the doctor's getting tests done and they are sending her for something called a "Doplar test".

I am just relieved and grateful that she is okay.

Sheesh, Mauvais - like you needed more stress. Your poor Mum and poor you. I am sure the Doppler tests will find if there is any problem. i think what she had was a TIA - transient ischemic (sp?)attack - but the test should tell you for sure.
Be sure to keep us posted.

Karen-I am sorry to hear about your MIL, and am sending good vibes your way. Hard enough to deal with for anyone, but with DH being an only child i am sure it is even worse.

Mauvais-I am sorry to hear about your mom too sweetie. That is the last thing that you needed right now. I'm glad that she is doing okay now though. Keep us posted. (PS-check out alternachat.....I have an important message for you there!!!)
