Default exercise music?

I'm just curious what kind of music people listen to when they are working out. I know it helps me to listen to music, but it really makes a difference what I am listening to and how hard i am working out. Some music makes me move slower I've noticed - like Ani Difranco and some makes me work harder like Lords of Acid or KMFDM...

anyway, just curious if anyone else uses music, and if so what music gets you going? I'm getting tired of my usual line up...

right now it's

Cake "I will Survive"
Prozzak "It's not me, it's you"
KMFDM "Light"
LoA "Rough Sex"
and Talking Heads "Take me to the River"

I have been hooked on this set lately, though I also use Godsmacks first album, a couple of Ani's, and Barenaked ladies "Gordon"

I'm getting bored.

I make running tapes and this is some of what is on the latest (and by the way, I never have it too loud, always hear and listen for traffic and all around me! but it does help rev me up and keep me going)

Pink, "Get this party started"
No Doubt "Hey Baby"
Everything But the Girl "Like the Deserts Miss the Rain" (extended version)
Queen "Bohemian Rhapsody"
Oasis "Wonderwall"
Joni Mitchell "Big Yellow Taxi"
Monkees "A Little Bit Me, A Little Bit You"
Beatles "Day Tripper", "Paperback Writer"
Stones "Mixed Emotions", "Rock and a Hard Place"

I also like Beatles One, lots of 80s stuff, the Stones, etc etc

Hey...big Ani fan here as well....we actually share a tattoo...the signature tribal on her chest...
my exercise line-up consists of many things...I usually save Ani Difranco and Indigo Girls for mosying around the house, but for workouts...
1.)bellydancing-middle eastern music, tribal drums music...I also have some middle easter techno combinations...I even like to bellydance to No Doubt's "Hellagood" and Marilyn Manson's "Dope Show-they have the right beat.
2.)weight training-Prince anything-especially older stuff, Fleetwood Mac or Stevie Nicks, cool 80's older hits like Devo "Whip It" or Eurythmics "Sweet Dreams." I also like Techno like Basement Jaxx...
3.)Yoga...I usually nix the usual ocean sounds and windchimes for more sullen music like Type O Negative...

Geez Aphil....you and I are too much alike! I love listening to the Dope Show, and Type O, Hellagood is great for bellydancing too!

For Belly dancing-various mixed cd's of middle Eastern music, Arabic DJ #10, Loreena McKennit, Mediaevil Babes, Prince, Missy Elliot, a lot of Hip Hop has a good beat, Nine Inch Nails

I think Loreena and the some of the Mediaevil babes would be good for yoga or pilates as well and I listen to the Sisters of Mercy a lot.

For weights-Rammstein, Front 242, some Godsmack, Rage Against the Machine.

Sorry ladies, I keep Type O strictly for 'bed exercise'.

But Gravity Kills can make great weight training music and hard workout grind.

Thank you Velvet! You are a sweetheart indeed - and I am glad you are back with us, if I didn't say so before - we all missed you much (BTW as I typed that I thought Janet Jackson's "Miss You Much" would also be a good exercise song - )

Speaking of dreams, the other night I dreamt I had sex with Steve Martin. I have no idea where THAT came from! I mean, he's a funny guy, but he doesn't exactly send me.
And I've discovered that it's NOT a good idea to tell your husband when you've had a dream like that. I only told him because we were in the video store, and I told him not to get anything with Steve Martin in it because I'd had sex with him the night before, and it made me queasy to look at him now.

Steve Martin eh? So...was it the big nosed "Roxanne" Steve Martin, or the older sorta sexy "Father of the Bride" Steve Martin...oh wait...it was "those plaid tight pants and unbottoned shirt with the hairy chest showing Wild and Crazy Guy" Steve Martin that got you wasn't it?
I knew it...

It was the Steve Martin at the academy awards.
I think this says something about my personality. Something I don't want to know.
Go ahead, girls... analyze me... I know you're dying to.
