Diva Cup for Menstruation
 

Hello!

Does anyone use the diva mentrual blood cup?

Quite honestly this thing scares me. I have friends that rave about its convenience and the environmental pros but it's still...a blood cup. Maybe tampons should gross me out too but this is something you have to boil between usage and empty and rinse out a few times a day. {even in public places?}

If you do use it what is your opinion? Has anyone heard anything bad? Do they work if you are overweight just as well.....

I'm not an alternachick but I love my Diva cup. I highly recommend them. It is actually so much cleaner than any other method I've tried. You can rinse them but also a good wipe with toilet paper in a public restroom works well too.

I have one, and I love it. Once I discovered it, I never went back. I have no problem emptying it in a public stall-- it is no problem. I have another girlfriend who swears by it too. It is awesome. Honestly if the blood grosses you out, I can understand that-- it is not a solution for everyone-- but you don't really have to well, 'look' at it, you know? You don't...

LOVE LOVE LOVE LOVE IT!!! Personally I only have to empty mine twice a day which I take care of at home so I don't worry about the public restroom bit. It's so much healthier for you then the "traditional" products. Cheaper also in the long run.

I have never heard of a diva cup before now but you all love it so much I want one!

I used to use "Instead soft cups". These are not re-usable. I loved them because I felt it was cleaner and I could wear it for 12 hours at a time. With tampons I'd have to change them every time I went to pee (sorry so vulgar) because If I didn't they'd absorb the urine. (Sorry this is really gross).

Also the cups are better for sex... that is... if you feel like having sex while on your cycle.

Hopefully you'd take the cup out first...

I use the instead. I LOVE THEM! I've never heard of the Diva Cup. I'll have to look into this. I found that the 1st couple times I didn't place it right or something but after I got the hang of it. I feel so fresh. LOL they are great. I told my daughter about it and she like eeeww. I now look at those other products and think eewww!

Well, I believe that the 'Instead' ones are worn very high up there, so I guess sex is possible-- kinda like a diaphram... but the Diva cup is worn very low. Seriously, I swear by mine. If anyone out there is considering trying one, I say go for it. I doubt you'll be sorry.

Ladies, I have heard of these and never used them myself. I am now menopausal so thank goodness don't have to deal with anything anymore, but I was wondering if you would recommend them to someone who is having heavy flow problems where tampons just don't cut it so to speak? My sister is having problems and needs something where she is more in control as she is a legal secretary and can't continually be having accidents with her clothing. If so, where can you buy them? Thanks for your input!

Is this the same thing as the instead cup? If so, I love them. I don't wear them throughout my entire cycle, but I do use them my last day or two when the flow is lighter. And if I had a boyfriend, I'd probably use them my whole cycle...supposedly you can still have sex without the mess while using them. They do cost more than pads (initially), though.

I would agree, though, that if you're squeamish, then they might not be for you.

ETA: if you are looking for them here in the US, I found mine at Publix grocery stores. You could probably find them at a drugstore too, in the feminine products section.

Whole Foods has them but I bought mine at luckyvitamin.com. I have very heavy flow and tampons would leak within an hour. I don't have that problem with the Diva cup.

If you're going to get one, lucky vitamin has them on sale right now. Just under $17!! (Plus shipping. Standard for me is only about $6 though).

I have extreamly heavy flows. If she want to be safe she can wear a pad with it. I did that at 1st til I got the hang of it and I knew how long one would last with me on my flood months. I've always had to wear a tampon and a pad before the instead.
