Thanks for the warm welcome everyone
Corinna - Good advice about eating in the same place every day. I never thought of it before but it makes sense.

Whenever I'm cooking I always grab a piece of capsicum or whatever I'm dicing for dinner (Something I probably got from my Dad, he always did that). But not eating while standing sounds like a great way to cut out unnecessary snacking. Cheers!

Welcome Newbies!

Although we all seem to have slightly different strategies for losing weight/ being healthy, many of the pearls of wisdom posted here apply to all.

I've been doing better these last few weeks and hope to break out of the 170's over the weekend. Have been getting out and walking again (usually 1/2 hour per day) and that little bit makes a difference! Tomorrow AM is our 5-mile hill walk which is always challenging, but with good friends along it's a lot of fun!

Have a great weekend!

Andi

Thanks for the warm welcome, Corinna, Terapet, Renee, Webwoman and everyone else.

I feel so much better that I'm eating normally and exercising again.

Today I went to my new primary doc, who said I'm doing great considering. So that was a good visit. On Monday I have to go to my Oncologist in LA, which is a few hundred miles away, but she saved my life so it's worth it. I guess these visits bring me stress, which is another reason I was out of control with my eating. I'm so happy to report that at my last visit to see her in LA, she said my B Cell Lymphoma was in remission, and my breast cancer is 75% cured. That's pretty good for someone who was in stage 4, and originally given a death sentence. But enough of this medical stuff.

Today's meals:
Breakfast: non fat latte, oatmeal
Lunch: chicken, yogurt, almonds
Dinner: chicken, salad, banana
Exercise: 20 minutes on treadmill
Have a great weekend, everyone!

Default Ten Choices You Will Regret in 10 Years

Here are ten choices that ultimately lead to this phrase of regret, and how to elude them:

1. Wearing a mask to impress others. – If the face you always show the world is a mask, someday there will be nothing beneath it. Because when you spend too much time concentrating on everyone else’s perception of you, or who everyone else wants you to be, you eventually forget who you really are. So don’t fear the judgments of others; you know in your heart who you are and what’s true to you. You don’t have to be perfect to impress and inspire people. Let them be impressed and inspired by how you deal with your imperfections.

2. Letting someone else create your dreams for you. – The greatest challenge in life is discovering who you are; the second greatest is being happy with what you find. A big part of this is your decision to stay true toyour own goals and dreams. Do you have people who disagree with you? Good. It means you’re standing your ground and walking your own path. Sometimes you’ll do things considered crazy by others, but when you catch yourself excitedly losing track of time, that’s when you’ll know you’re doing the right thing.

3. Keeping negative company. – Don’t let someone who has a bad attitude give it to you. Don’t let them get to you. They can’t pull the trigger if you don’t hand them the gun. When you remember that keeping the company of negative people is a choice, instead of an obligation, you free yourself to keep the company of compassion instead of anger, generosity instead of greed, and patience instead of anxiety.

4. Being selfish and egotistical. – A life filled with loving deeds and good character is the best tombstone. Those who you inspired and shared your love with will remember how you made them feel long after your time has expired. So carve your name on hearts, not stone. What you have done for yourself alone dies with you; what you have done for others and the world remains.

5. Avoiding change and growth. – If you want to know your past look into your present conditions. If you want to know your future look into your present actions. You must let go of the old to make way for the new; the old way is gone, never to come back. If you acknowledge this right now and take steps to address it, you will position yourself for lasting success.

6. Giving up when the going gets tough. – There are no failures, just results. Even if things don’t unfold the way you had expected, don’t be disheartened or give up. Learn what you can and move on. The one who continues to advance one step at a time will win in the end. Because the battle is always won far away and long before the final victory. It’s a process that occurs with small steps, decisions, and actions that gradually build upon each other and eventually lead to that glorious moment of triumph.

7. Trying to micromanage every little thing. – Life should be touched, not strangled. Sometimes you’ve got to relax and let life happen without incessant worry and micromanagement. Learn to let go a little before you squeeze too tight. Take a deep breath. When the dust settles and you can once again see the forest for the trees, take the next step forward. You don’t have to know exactly where you’re going to be headed somewhere great. Everything in life is in perfect order whether you understand it yet or not. It just takes some time to connect all the dots.

8. Settling for less than you deserve. – Be strong enough to let go and wise enough to wait for what you deserve. Sometimes you have to get knocked down lower than you have ever been to stand up taller than you ever were before. Sometimes your eyes need to be washed by your tears so you can see the possibilities in front of you with a clearer vision again. Don’t settle.

9. Endlessly waiting until tomorrow. – The trouble is, you always think you have more time than you do. But one day you will wake up and there won’t be any more time to work on the things you’ve always wanted to do. And at that point you either will have achieved the goals you set for yourself, or you will have a list of excuses for why you haven’t.

10. Being lazy and wishy-washy. – The world doesn’t owe you anything, you owe the world something. So stop daydreaming and start DOING. Develop a backbone, not a wishbone. Take full responsibility for your life – take control. You are important and you are needed. It’s too late to sit around and wait for somebody to do something someday. Someday is now; the somebody the world needs is YOU.

Bad calories-510. Ex-none. It was Friday-what can I say? I will not let "Saturday" be my excuse today though! The scale showed a tiny drop today but I do not consider it official until I can see the same number more than once. So happy to see a new number though. Hopefully a sign of better things to come.

Lovin all the participation here. I am also motivated by all the effort I witness on this thread. Keep goin' girls!!

Thx for the list Corinna. Good advice.

Hi girls, I'm sorry for being MIA. I had my cancer biopsy last Friday & I saw my doctor for the results this Friday. I am thrilled to say that my needle biopsy was done correctly & none of the cells taken showed cancer on the pathology report I drove home w many emotions & I'm going to reassess my life, because I dodged having cancer this time & when I get a colonoscopy & my pap this year, I could b screwed... My 2 older brothers died w cancer & my sister & grandma from breast cancer. Me getting cancer is Not the legacy I want to leave to my 2 sons & 4 grandbabes, so I am determined to live a healthier lifestyle now. I had a NSV for me today, I wasn't even tempted to buy anything sweet in the bakery aisle when I was shopping & I thought about that when I was home eating my lunch, because normally I would've bought my favorite pastry & a few candy bars to snack on this weekend.

I want to Thank You all for your prayers & well wishes for me . It meant a lot to know U cared before I had my biopsy last Friday.

The temps were in the mid 70's Thursday-today & I'm excited about camping, gardening, etc.

Andi ~ I wish I lived in your area because I'd love to join U in your group for the 5-mile hill walk That sounds like so much fun, 170# is a size 14 I think. Umm I hope U have some clothes to wear, we wouldn't want U getting arrested for nudity

Corinna ~ I don't know where U read all the Inspiring info. U post for us; but Thanks so much for being so thoughtful.

Tyla & Fresh Feeling ~ These girls r awesome here. U chose a wonderful thread to join.

Renee & Terapet ~ on your losses.

Tyla ~ Your in my prayers for a full cancer remission. We drive 3 hours round trip every 6 months to my dh oncologist after getting labs & full body CT scans. Dh has been on a cancer drug (Gleevec) daily for 6 yrs this March & if he didn't have his factory job, he'd b dead because his BCBS pays all but $100 of it monthly. Dh was sent home to die 6 yrs ago after a reoccurrence that metastasized & his liver & abdomen swelled to the size of a 7 month pregnant women within 48 hrs. after dh thought for a few days prior he was having appendicitis pains & had me take him to the ER. He was in the hospital 2 days when his oncologist said dh was terminal & had less than a week to live & sent him home w morphine, etc. to die @ home w family instead of in the hospital & his doctor told dh that the drug Gleevec was just out of clinical trials & available & if dh took it asap, maybe dh could extend his life a few weeks/months. We got the Gleevec & within 24 hrs he began improving, the Gleevec shrinks the cancer cells & destroys them eventually. Cancer is ugly but, there is hope & life for everyone w cancer. If U ever want to chat or vent pLease feel free to chat w me here or PM me, it doesn't have to b about your cancer.

Renee ~ I always wonder what r U drinking w your meals whenever I see your Food Log here. Hint-hint to everybody that's shy & won't tell what U r drinking I drink infused water w my meals, (a splash of whatever fruit I'm eating that day) or tea. Do U count calories & it doesn't seem like very many

Terapet ~ I get U wanting to see the same number more than once on your scale, r U weighing daily or weekly? I used to weigh myself weekly, then the pounds started coming back so now I do it when I change my clothes every morning. What r your Bad Calories? Is that extras that U didn't plan on eating

Good night girls I hope everyone has a wonderful Sunday
