Happy Birthday funny K3...and many more!

I gave Bruce instructions for washing clothes. NEVER PUT TOWELS/WASH CLOTHS/DISH TOWELS WITH ANYTHING ELSE...SEPARATE LOAD. Reds & burgundy together, etc. His first load of clothes was mixed, reds, towels, black t shirts. All together in one load, you should see the lint on his black T-shirts and his face, priceless! I think he's getting dementia, no kidding.

Good morning, ladies! DH told me that we are going to cut back on our trips to the casino. If he keeps his word, that will make me a very happy camper! We used to win, but lately it has been a very costly hobby.

Karen3, Happy Belated Birthday! Hope you enjoyed it.

Mary, my new diabetes med is said to cause weight gain. So far I haven't gained, but I am also not losing. I read it's because the med causes your pancreas to release more insulin, and too much insulin causes weight gain. If this continues, discuss it with the doctor. You will make the right choice for you, and if you have to go with the injectible, you will get used to it in time and it might be better for your health in the long run.

Gayle, It's hard when things change as we age, but if the walker helps you get around and see things, then you do that! It's much better than sitting at home and missing all that's going on, especially with Maddie. My husband would probably react the same as yours if I needed a walker. We have my MILs walker in case I ever need it, but I have seen the ones like yours that have the seat and I think they are much better. Some of the seats lift up with an area for storage.

Cajun, I hope you're improving and getting good news from the doctor.

Bobbi, keep resting that foot! Hope you're feeling better soon! Bruce's first experience with laundry sounds like me when I first moved out on my own. I washed underwear with jeans! LOL I couldn't afford to buy all new undies, so I had to wear the tattle-tale grey ones until they wore out. I don't know what I was thinking except wanting to combine loads to save money at the laundromat!

Good to see you Lucinda!

I always wondered how everyone knew everyone else's birthdays. I just saw the "Today's Birthdays" thread at the bottom of the home page! So my greeting to you Karen, is not actually belated!

Good Morning, All..

Tam – how long have you had your own business? Do you have one store or several? It’s hard work! “Eat dessert first! Life is short”…

CarolSue – thanks for the information on Kim Komando. I pulled her site, and it looks interesting. I can’t remember the last time I was in a movie theater, either… the darkness makes me fall asleep, so it’s a waste of way too much money. Even the popcorn isn’t that much of a draw, anymore! I’ll occasionally get a movie on the tv, and I can take (and usually do) a couple of days to slog through it. There don’t seem to be many really good movies these days, and I’m so NOT interested in the vampires or the futuristic crap.

Also, here’s a link to the Age 50+ Birthday list:

http://www.3fatchicks.com/forum/age-...hday-list.html

KarenFL – let us know the reaction to your family cookbook. I think it’s such a great idea, and I’ll take it off your hands, if your recipients are not properly appreciative! I saw a news program on the Harvard Women’s Health Study… so interesting! I feel rather smug that I know an actual participant!

And HAPPY BIRTHDAY~

Gayle – glad to see that you got to spend some time with Corbin. He’s getting to be such a grown up, with his own friends, that I’m sure you did think it was a rare treat! Your trip to the Galveston beach sounded nice (mostly, the screen house sounded nice!)…. And the walker is a good idea, should you need it. How’s your mom doing these days?

Thanks for asking! Samson is recovered quite nicely from his wounds; however, he picked up a cold or something, is sneezing like crazy. His poor little nose is rubbed raw. There’s no snot or eye involvement, so I don’t know if there’s anything the vet can do or not. I just dumped a wad at the vet’s when he got in that fight, and I’m not eager to repeat that a week later! Even though I’m apparently filthy rich (ha!), I won’t be for long at this rate!

I’m almost finished with the flower garden afghan (10 more motifs and then sewing it all together), and I’m ½ finished with the yellow afghan. I’ll send a picture when they’re finished. And, of course, I always have a baby afghan in the works for the BirthMothers group.

Do you type your posts in the “advanced” mode? The color feature might work there.

Mary – when I was working, we quit taking Tricare completely. They do not reimburse the retail participants enough to even cover costs. It used to be the best insurance around, for both the patient and the businesses… no more! And, yes, I got another frantic email from my ex-boss about returning. No WAY am I interested in 4 days a week again. I MIGHT (big MIGHT) consider one day for 2-3 hours, just to get them caught up on the computer input. I haven’t heard back, but I’m going to stand firm.

BestJudy – have fun on your vacay and happy anniversary! Did you get your husband a perm?? My brother used to perm his hair back in the 70’s…. very strange LOL

Bobbi – how are you feeling??????? I hope the pain is lessened today and that you’re able to hobble around a bit more. Love the story of DH doing the laundry…

Lucinda and Nibs – yo!

Mary – that’s a lot of weight gain for a short period of time… are you drinking enough water to slough off the salt? Good luck! I wonder, with you, if it’s the medication?

Had a quiet weekend. I’m off to do errands today, but I’ll have the afternoon to myself. I do like retirement! Everything is status quo here!

Have a good Monday, all…. Later, lovelies!

We have been in business since 1991. The store that I took over in 1991 had been open since 1986. The second store opened in 2001 and the third in 2004. I worked in the first store and then hubby quit his job of 24 years to open the second store and then the third came along. It is hard work, but so worth it! Thanks for asking!!

Good morning ladies. It might be afternoon before I finish this post. I started with a new born this morning. He is spoiled to the arms. It's going to be interesting the first week or two. He is a cutie. Very tiny.

We spent most of the weekend at my sisters house. Cook cook cook is all we done. We had friends come in and they don't get cajun food so they eat their fill. Friday night we had crab and shrimp gumbo. I ate the crabs and shrimp with gumbo juice. No rice or potatoe salad. Passed on the pecan pie. Yay! Saturday morning dh and I went to the AT&T store for his phone. We went to the camp and guess what we did. Yes I lost my battle. The ice cream maker. We got back home and I made the camo cake. It didn't look like camo to me but anyway the cake was good. How do I know this because I ate a very small slice. I had a weak moment. After making the cake we went back to sisters house and had a crab boil. That's when I are a lil piece of cake. Sunday I made homemade macaroni and cheese. We went back to sisters house. We had a thanksgiving meal in July. Some friends of ours came and my dh her dh and my youngest son and her youngest son got together with all their guitars and played music. They are good. Dh and ds are learning from our friend and his son. They play and sing in bands. They are supposed to play for ds's wedding. They played from 3 to 7. They all ate and we left there at 9. Phew what a weekend. I'm tired this morning. Oh and diet wise yesterday. I ate the turkey and green beans. None of the other dishes. Dh made vanilla ice cream too. I tasted a small spoon full. Thst was it. All in all I managed a pretty good weekend eating wise considering all that food. I am retaining a lil fluid from the crab boil. Lots of water will take care of that.
Youngest son is feeling slightly better with his throat. He finally admitted he will have to have his tonsils removed.
Oldest son texted me last night when he got home. He killed a cotton mouth snake under his lawn mower. Gives me the chills. Those cotton mouths will make you very sick if bitten. They are aggressive and mean.

Bobbi I hope your pain is subsiding. I has to laugh at your dh's laundry experience. Not long after we were married I accidentally got dh's underwear in a load of red shirts. They came out pink. He told me only real men can wear pink. Lol. That man. Never know what he will say.

Tam I was reading your post and I know it's not funny but I had to laugh. I have a similar problem. I don't mind doing most housework but I hate hanging shirts and jeans on hangers. I don't mind sitting a folding whites and towels. I would wash those shirts and jeans and throw them in the dryer and they would sit. I had to turn dryer on many times over and over. So I came up with a plan. Wash those first and that way I had to hang them if I wanted to get my other laundry done also. It works. Now it's not so bad with just dh and I. Those boys were the ones that kept my hamper full.

K3 steaks in the freezer is a nice problem to have. Love grill steaks. The book you will be priceless. Happy birthday to you. Hope you have many more!!!!!

Gayle I hate sand. It amazes me how little ones don't mind the grit. Your trip sounded like fun. We are never home long enough for me to clean house on weekends so I've learned to do it with kids in my feet. I usually make sure all my house work is done by Friday. On Monday it's still like I left it only laundry to do on Mondays from the weekend.

Carol sue we rarely go to casinos to gamble. But we do have an expensive hobby too: camping fishing and hunting. If you figured up what we spend to hunt deer the cost per lb of meat would be over 500 a lb.

Donna one of the moms I babysit for owns a cafe. I order the chicken from her in a 40 lb box. It's boneless skinless thighs. We cook it all kinds of ways. Chicken is good for my diet. I took pics of the cake. Just need to figure out how to post them. But it didn't come out like the box.

Naughty I liked you scale cartoon. I would love to shoot my scale most of the time.

K31 prayers for Tim.

Mary hopefully you can get your meds right. You can do it!!!!

Hi to anybody I forgot.

Be back later.
Hugs
Cajun

Cajun, DH used to camp, hunt and fish, but he has given it up to the younger ones. Our sons still does it all. When I was still working I didn't mind the gambling so much. We had more money then and we won once in a while. Now that I'm retired there isn't as much money, and to me, the bills have to be paid first, then you can have fun with whatever's left.

Hi - mind if I join your group? I am 59 and having the toughest time losing weight. Back in the day, I'd just cut back for a few weeks and the pounds would come off. Now, just losing one pound is agony. I have at least 30 to lose. This morning I weighed 171.6.

Some info: I am still working at a very stressful job, and much of that 30 pounds came on after my promotion 3 years ago. I also am very sedentary at work and have a nearly one hour commute, so not much chance to move my body. I do eat healthfully and my 'numbers' are all good. The people in my mother's family almost all get diabetes, and that is what I am trying to avoid. So far, so good. I have a vegetarian husband, so we eat mostly vegetarian food - I sometimes make myself chicken, fish etc., and often when I go out to eat, that is what I order. I love to cook and it is my way of destressing after a difficult day. I also look forward to my evening glass of wine. I have to restrict myself most nights to one glass, since I think it contributes to my weight problem. My handsome husband, who is 55, still weights nearly the same as he did in high school. Probably due to his diet. I have three married children and have two granddaughters, plus a grandson on the way in September.

I had my belly laugh for the day, thought I'd share. I have a black board out in my kitchen where I list groceries that I need. Today I found this added to my cool whip.
